- 0:18Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to Gatesleepers, the pop culture game show
- 0:22Speaker 1: that shines a spotlight onto everyone's favorite fandoms. I'm your
- 0:25Speaker 1: games master and maniac with a sharp object. Matt Watson,
- 0:30Speaker 1: it's my wits. It's my wits to the shark. Yeah.
- 0:33Speaker 2: I almost made that joke myself. I wish I had.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Because I oh, I love being interrupted in my introduction, John,
- 0:44Speaker 1: I've got an attitude on the Halloween one.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Don't I just talk the whole time? Okay?
- 0:51Speaker 1: But a games master needs games and games need players,
- 0:54Speaker 1: so please welcome first. He is a comic book artist, podcaster,
- 0:58Speaker 1: and Gatesleepers regular. Space Odity's Issue three is fully funded
- 1:03Speaker 1: and will be available later this year. I hear it's
- 1:05Speaker 1: the dream Warriors of Space Odity's issues. It's John Williams.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Oh hello, and he is a comic book writer, podcast
- 1:14Speaker 1: and gate Leapers regular, stepping up at the last minute
- 1:17Speaker 1: to fill a canceled booking. Like Jason Vorhes, this man
- 1:21Speaker 1: is resilient, indestructible, and possibly a cyborg. Now it's Ben Robinson.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Who's to say I'm everything John has but an artist.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Welcome back, John, Welcome back, Ben, because you're on the
- 1:33Speaker 1: same team. Congratulations on Space Odity's issue three getting the
- 1:37Speaker 1: kickstart of funding.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you. We are stoked. I got some art
- 1:41Speaker 2: to finish up, but it's going to be shipping out
- 1:43Speaker 2: in a few months.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Hell yes, love love to hear it. And apart from
- 1:48Speaker 1: the comics, how you're both doing.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Hot but otherwise good, tired and old, you know how
- 1:54Speaker 3: it is the usual.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Now, very excited to be here. This is a this
- 2:00Speaker 2: is a topic I'm super stoked for.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Hell yes, oh well, I'll jump straight on that setup.
- 2:05Speaker 2: John.
- 2:06Speaker 1: How big of a slasher movie fan are you?
- 2:10Speaker 2: I'm a I'm a pretty big fan. I don't know
- 2:13Speaker 2: if i'd call myself like a like an expert, or
- 2:15Speaker 2: like a turbo fanatic, but I've enjoyed them my entire
- 2:19Speaker 2: life and I and I constantly revisit them whenever I
- 2:23Speaker 2: have an afternoon to myself. Nice.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Nice, Yeah, yeah, I don't think I would ever call
- 2:28Speaker 1: anyone a turbo fanatic.
- 2:30Speaker 2: I didn't know.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I didn't have that phrase in me until thirty seconds ago.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Now he will, No, No, I might, yes, Oh good stuff.
- 2:39Speaker 2: And Ben?
- 2:39Speaker 1: Are you you a fan of slasher movies classic slashes?
- 2:42Speaker 2: Oh I am?
- 2:43Speaker 3: Yeah, No, I enjoy them. I like, I don't uh,
- 2:45Speaker 3: I don't know a lot like I like watching them,
- 2:49Speaker 3: and I've seen most, you know, most of them over
- 2:52Speaker 3: the years. But I'm not like an encyclopedia of knowledge
- 2:56Speaker 3: on like who played what or deep lore or anything
- 2:59Speaker 3: like that. But sure, I like playing around in the sandbox.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Yeah, the sandbox in the playground where everybody gets killed.
- 3:06Speaker 1: I was just trying to make it horror. I was
- 3:08Speaker 1: trying to make it spooky. It's a spooky the murder box. Yeah,
- 3:13Speaker 1: oh good stuff. Well, you will need some opponents, victims,
- 3:18Speaker 1: victims maybe.
- 3:20Speaker 2: If we do our job right, well find out. Okay.
- 3:23Speaker 1: She is our resident team captain, a podcaster who works
- 3:26Speaker 1: in STEM, which today stands for stabbing teenagers enjoy much
- 3:31Speaker 1: late It's a Stevenson Hello.
- 3:34Speaker 4: I loved that.
- 3:37Speaker 1: And she is a podcaster, award winning screenwriter and host
- 3:40Speaker 1: of It's a Fandom Thing, a fandom podcast for women
- 3:43Speaker 1: and outsiders to feel safe, you know, the complete opposite
- 3:46Speaker 1: of the slasher genre. It's Eron Marlowe Hill. So happy
- 3:52Speaker 1: to be here. That's great, thanks so much for being here.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Welcome for the first time. Eron, Welcome as always, Audra,
- 4:00Speaker 1: how are you both doing doing good good.
- 4:02Speaker 4: Yeah, excited to be here. I know an amount that
- 4:09Speaker 4: We'll let the listeners decide what that amount is.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:13Speaker 1: For the last three years of game shows, you've not
- 4:15Speaker 1: already given away much many clues that you're a horror fan.
- 4:19Speaker 4: I have not alluded to that. I am attempting to
- 4:24Speaker 4: slowly ease my way into things, looking at this genre
- 4:28Speaker 4: before the episode, being like, oh, I have seen that. Oh, okay,
- 4:32Speaker 4: so I have seen that, and so there I knew
- 4:36Speaker 4: more than I thought, but probably less than my teammate
- 4:39Speaker 4: would hope.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Yes, Aaron, I think you're gonna have to help order
- 4:47Speaker 1: a little bit with this episode. But but what about yourself.
- 4:49Speaker 1: You're a big horror fan.
- 4:51Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I've been a horror fan since I was
- 4:53Speaker 5: a little kid. My babysitter showed me my first horror movie,
- 4:57Speaker 5: which was Boltergeist, and my babysitter all showed me The
- 5:00Speaker 5: Shining when I was a little kid, oh, six seven
- 5:03Speaker 5: years old. Didn't know it was the Shining until like,
- 5:07Speaker 5: I just had the image of you know, the blood
- 5:09Speaker 5: coming down the elevators and was like, where do I
- 5:11Speaker 5: know that? From? Then, when I was a teenager and
- 5:12Speaker 5: watched the Shining I went. My babysitters showed me that
- 5:15Speaker 5: when I was a little kid.
- 5:18Speaker 2: So early exposure to the media. I love it.
- 5:21Speaker 5: Yeah, very early.
- 5:23Speaker 1: And what about the classic slashes? The this was eighty
- 5:27Speaker 1: slasher movies.
- 5:28Speaker 5: Yes, I love them. I used to be kind of
- 5:31Speaker 5: a little bit more snobby about them, but now I have,
- 5:35Speaker 5: now that I've gotten older, I actually appreciate them more
- 5:37Speaker 5: than I did before, especially Michael Myers. So, Michael Myers,
- 5:42Speaker 5: I collect Michael Meyers stuff and oh fantastic.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Yeah that would be great for this episode, I think, Yeah,
- 5:50Speaker 1: someone who collects Michael Meyer's memorabilia, props, that kind of thing. Yeah, objects, ob.
- 5:56Speaker 4: Jay, Oh yeah Jay for today.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Yeah, it's definitely going to be able to help you out,
- 6:01Speaker 1: I think Uldra Oh yes.
- 6:03Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm onto about fifty so nice.
- 6:06Speaker 4: I'm feeling confident.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Yeah you should.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Okay, Teams, you've just arrived at summer camp. I'm sure
- 6:13Speaker 1: nothing will go wrong at the idyllic sounding camp Crystal Lake. Yes,
- 6:19Speaker 1: sounds les. But each cabin will need a name, so
- 6:22Speaker 1: I'd like each pair to come up with a slasher
- 6:25Speaker 1: themed team name.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Please.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Let's start with Ben and John.
- 6:28Speaker 2: All right, do you want me to go Ben, since
- 6:30Speaker 2: since you don't read theme, Oh, well, I'm sure you
- 6:32Speaker 2: prepared yourself. I know the format. Yeah, yeah, that's true,
- 6:36Speaker 2: you've done this before. Well I've got I've got a
- 6:39Speaker 2: I've got a list, so I'll just go through them
- 6:41Speaker 2: real quick. Springwood Slashers, the Counselors, the Virgins, the Final Guys,
- 6:49Speaker 2: the Shapes, Pamela Stabby Mcstaberson or the National Home Warranty
- 6:57Speaker 2: Day Massacre.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Oh fantatastic. That last one would be a nightmare of
- 7:05Speaker 1: an episode title.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:07Speaker 2: I thought of Ben with the way he likes to
- 7:09Speaker 2: have you say long team names. Yeah, yeah, that one.
- 7:13Speaker 3: I don't have any really long ones. I had to
- 7:17Speaker 3: get a dick joke in. So I've got the Halloweeners. Sure, yes,
- 7:21Speaker 3: the practical effects, because that's one of the greatest things
- 7:24Speaker 3: about eighties slash movies. But I think my favorite one,
- 7:27Speaker 3: which is also a great thing specifically about eighties splasher movies,
- 7:31Speaker 3: we could be the gratuitous boobs.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Wow, what a pair of gratuitous boobs you could be.
- 7:38Speaker 2: I really loved practical effects until gratuitous boobs show. So
- 7:43Speaker 2: as long as we can get away with that, yeah,
- 7:46Speaker 2: I'm all for that.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I think in twenty twenty four you can put
- 7:49Speaker 1: the word boobs in a podcast title. I think, all right,
- 7:54Speaker 1: you can get away right now gratuitous boobs.
- 7:57Speaker 3: We're going with gratuitous boobs.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Yes, I want to say it in a skeletor voice.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Gratis is boobs. Let's let's find out who the gratuitis.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Boobs will be facing Aaron.
- 8:09Speaker 5: Any ideas, Oh man, I'm like, I feel like it
- 8:13Speaker 5: just came up with. Like I had hadden Field Slashers
- 8:17Speaker 5: because nice of Halloween, so I had to get something
- 8:20Speaker 5: in there that had to do with that.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Of course, I love it.
- 8:23Speaker 4: I have a few that are okay. I also had
- 8:28Speaker 4: Final Girls, and then most the other three are just
- 8:35Speaker 4: loose puns. Fry Yay, the thirteenth yeah, h Scary Tail ending,
- 8:42Speaker 4: and Chuck Sheet instead of Chucky.
- 8:47Speaker 1: So they're there, Oh fantastic. Any any of their ideas
- 8:55Speaker 1: eron or should we go with Chuck Sheet? Does Chuck
- 8:57Speaker 1: She sound like the best one?
- 8:59Speaker 5: No? No, I did the second one? You said again?
- 9:05Speaker 4: I think I had Fry yea, the thirteenth and scary
- 9:08Speaker 4: Tail ending.
- 9:09Speaker 5: I kind of like scary Tale ending because it's like,
- 9:12Speaker 5: you know, a play on a fairy tale, but Stucker,
- 9:17Speaker 5: I like that.
- 9:18Speaker 4: Yeah, and we're here to have fun, so yeah, having
- 9:21Speaker 4: that like vibe, all.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Right, we can go with scary tail ending. I like
- 9:26Speaker 1: it as a as a team name.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Mm hmmm. And thank you Ben because during quick fire
- 9:30Speaker 2: now we just get to shout boosts.
- 9:35Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's just the it's the right level
- 9:37Speaker 1: of childishness for Halloween.
- 9:38Speaker 2: I love it. Oh good stuff all right.
- 9:42Speaker 1: And if you're listening to this and thinking I'm not
- 9:44Speaker 1: a horror fan, is Nightmare on Elm Street, the one
- 9:47Speaker 1: with Jack Skellington, don't worry his order with a little
- 9:51Speaker 1: segment we like to call passing knowledge.
- 9:55Speaker 4: Slasher horror is Latin for slash her horror. Not really,
- 10:01Speaker 4: but that would be fun, wouldn't it. Slasher films generally
- 10:05Speaker 4: involve a killer stalking and murdering multiple victims until a
- 10:09Speaker 4: final girl triumphs over the monster, proving that these are
- 10:13Speaker 4: fantastical works of fiction. As Russell Brand is still at
- 10:17Speaker 4: large Inspired by psychological thrillers of the fifties and sixties,
- 10:22Speaker 4: slasher films came into their own in the mid to
- 10:25Speaker 4: late seventies, with films like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and
- 10:30Speaker 4: Halloween kickstarting the new genre. Jamie Lee Curtis's performance as
- 10:35Speaker 4: Laurie Strode in Halloween defined the concept of the final girl.
- 10:40Speaker 4: Something I'll get into a little bit later. Friday the
- 10:44Speaker 4: thirteenth and A Nightmare on Elm Street both cemented the
- 10:47Speaker 4: genre as a form of popular cinema, and both produced
- 10:51Speaker 4: endless sequels that made increasingly less sense. Jason in Space
- 10:57Speaker 4: Cool why not? Ominous soundtracks, suspenseful writing, and jump scarre cinematography.
- 11:04Speaker 4: Mix those ingredients together and you've got yourself a lovely
- 11:07Speaker 4: fall slasher soup. Since ancient Rome, humanity has sought after
- 11:12Speaker 4: violence as a spectacle, usually as a form of desensitization
- 11:17Speaker 4: to the very real violence inherent in our political systems.
- 11:20Speaker 4: And I, for one, am glad that we now watch
- 11:23Speaker 4: people in hockey masks pretend to murder teenagers instead of
- 11:28Speaker 4: feeding dissidence to hungry lions. Let's play spooky Gateleepers.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Thank you Adra.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Just before we get to today's games, I've asked each
- 11:38Speaker 1: player to bring in a muse, something that inspires them
- 11:42Speaker 1: or something they love from this particular fandom. Slashes are
- 11:45Speaker 1: inspiring to me because Hollywood still gave Mike Mayas a
- 11:49Speaker 1: career in spite of all those murders he did. Yeah,
- 11:52Speaker 1: if it wasn't for Slashes, we might not have Shrek.
- 11:55Speaker 1: There might be no Shrek. So thank you Slashes.
- 12:01Speaker 2: John.
- 12:02Speaker 1: We'll start with you. What's inspiring you from the world
- 12:04Speaker 1: of slash fiction.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Sorry, Slashes, you know, I'm stepping outside of the movies
- 12:09Speaker 2: a little bit to find my muse today. My muse
- 12:12Speaker 2: actually includes my pal Ben and everybody else here because
- 12:17Speaker 2: for me, watching scary movies when I was a little
- 12:20Speaker 2: kid was all about doing it with your friends. It
- 12:23Speaker 2: was a community thing. You watch it in groups of people,
- 12:25Speaker 2: you all enjoy it together, you talk about it the
- 12:27Speaker 2: next day wherever you're at, whether it's a playground if
- 12:29Speaker 2: you were young enough, or at the water cooler when
- 12:32Speaker 2: you're older. So I'm channeling the joy of the communal
- 12:37Speaker 2: experience of horror movies into today's episode because I always
- 12:41Speaker 2: have a lot of fun when I'm on the show,
- 12:43Speaker 2: and I'm looking forward to having a lot of fun
- 12:44Speaker 2: with everyone. Hell yeah, yeah.
- 12:47Speaker 1: I can't say that's not inspiring John, because it involves
- 12:49Speaker 1: the community spirit of this very podcast. So I must
- 12:52Speaker 1: say it's inspiring. But yeah, I totally get what you mean.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Horror movies as a genre have always been about, especially
- 12:59Speaker 1: as a kid, like daring each other to watch the
- 13:01Speaker 1: next scary once you can talk about it and then yeah,
- 13:04Speaker 1: like you say, dissecting it and picking apart the pieces,
- 13:08Speaker 1: trying to use media analytical terminology.
- 13:11Speaker 2: That also sounds violent.
- 13:12Speaker 1: I don't know if you're picking up on that.
- 13:14Speaker 2: I am now yeah. Yeah, And ironically Ben stepped away
- 13:20Speaker 2: while I was saying.
- 13:23Speaker 1: He almost got away with it as well.
- 13:25Speaker 4: He said nice things about you, Ben, but you did
- 13:27Speaker 4: not hear it.
- 13:28Speaker 3: That's okay, doesn't need to get any bigger.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Oh lovely stuff.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, fantastic commuse community always a brilliant thing to
- 13:38Speaker 1: be inspired by. Okay, moving on over to your gratuitous
- 13:43Speaker 1: boobs teammates, Ben, what's inspiring you from slashes?
- 13:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I disappeared because I forgot to grab my muse
- 13:51Speaker 3: and had to run and get it. It is my
- 13:53Speaker 3: homemade murder machete, okay, that I use to murder chickens
- 14:01Speaker 3: and uh, chickens and stuff when I process them. So
- 14:05Speaker 3: this is my yes, head lover.
- 14:08Speaker 1: It looks effective for those listening to the podcast. Ben
- 14:13Speaker 1: just has what I can only describe as a massive
- 14:16Speaker 1: knife machette.
- 14:17Speaker 4: As the biggest knife I've seen on a human that's
- 14:22Speaker 4: not in a piece of media.
- 14:23Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, it feels when you hold up your hand,
- 14:26Speaker 3: it feels horror adjacent.
- 14:29Speaker 4: Yeah, Like I have seen like replica swords, like prop
- 14:33Speaker 4: swords that are metal, but they're not actually sharp. I
- 14:37Speaker 4: know that's sharp. I trust Ben. So it is the
- 14:41Speaker 4: largest functional knife I've ever seen.
- 14:43Speaker 2: He's the Sacramento slasher. You still get the alliteration, oh.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Doc saying scary. Yeah, well that's a very inspiring knife.
- 14:59Speaker 1: I feel threatened by it. Therefore I feel inspired. Okay,
- 15:06Speaker 1: I should next year I might start handing out points
- 15:08Speaker 1: for the mes segment.
- 15:09Speaker 2: It might be time.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Okay, let's move on over to the scary tale ending
- 15:16Speaker 1: erin what's inspiring you from the slasher genre?
- 15:19Speaker 5: A little bit more serious, But the most inspiring thing
- 15:22Speaker 5: to me about slashers, even though I collect Michael Meyer's stuff,
- 15:25Speaker 5: is as a woman, it's amazing to have women defeating
- 15:32Speaker 5: the men and be the last one standing. Sure, there
- 15:35Speaker 5: is something empowering about that. Granted, I mean there is
- 15:37Speaker 5: other like complications with that with it always being like
- 15:40Speaker 5: the good girl usually, but still there's something very empowering
- 15:44Speaker 5: about that in a world where it can feel like
- 15:47Speaker 5: you're outnumbered. So that is like something that inspires me.
- 15:51Speaker 5: And then I just quickly want to show my baby Michael.
- 15:56Speaker 5: I put these on him for Halloween, so he's wearing
- 16:01Speaker 5: devil horns. I'm gonna dress him up for every holiday.
- 16:04Speaker 5: But I just had to show my baby Michael because
- 16:06Speaker 5: that's my favorite thing.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Yeah, that is brilliant, credible Halloween too, Michael.
- 16:11Speaker 5: Right, yes, exactly, Yeah, Oh yeah.
- 16:16Speaker 1: It's it's weirdly adorable.
- 16:17Speaker 5: Oh no, isn't it. It's so adorable.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Yeah, well that's that's amazing. And yeah, as well as
- 16:25Speaker 1: well mentioning it being an important thing to have representation,
- 16:29Speaker 1: I always think like with the sort of modern Horrors
- 16:31Speaker 1: the last sort of ten to fifteen years, they've managed
- 16:33Speaker 1: to put a quite a modern twist on it and
- 16:35Speaker 1: sort of make the final Girl be a much more
- 16:40Speaker 1: complex representation of women. But you kind of have to
- 16:43Speaker 1: always lay the foundation and build the building blocks, Like
- 16:46Speaker 1: without those Final Girls of the eighties, we don't get
- 16:49Speaker 1: the more complex Final Girls of third of the twenty's
- 16:52Speaker 1: and the twenty tens.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Yeah, and to be fair, yeah, in the eighties, none
- 16:56Speaker 3: of the characters were really that complex. Genre was pretty
- 17:01Speaker 3: surface level.
- 17:02Speaker 5: That's true.
- 17:03Speaker 4: Yeah, so they were on par yeah with the rest
- 17:07Speaker 4: of the cast.
- 17:08Speaker 1: So heck yeah, yeah, incredibly inspiring and so is the baby. Yes, okay, uh, Last,
- 17:17Speaker 1: but not least, Audra, you're a famously not a slasher fan.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Have you have you found amuse?
- 17:22Speaker 4: Yes? Mine is also final girl based in the sense
- 17:27Speaker 4: that I believe like in my youth, I was prime
- 17:34Speaker 4: to be a final girl in a horror film. Let
- 17:38Speaker 4: me set the scene. I lived in a small rural
- 17:42Speaker 4: town just down the railroad tracks from a penitentiary, like
- 17:47Speaker 4: that's right, historical, old creepy penitentiary. There was a tasty
- 17:53Speaker 4: freeze overlooking the penitentiary, so you could sit by the
- 17:57Speaker 4: six foot tall ice cream cone looking over this fort
- 18:03Speaker 4: like prison. And in these small towns you have instead
- 18:08Speaker 4: of going to like a party in the suburb, you
- 18:10Speaker 4: would wait until someone who lived in the middle of
- 18:13Speaker 4: nowhere or an abandoned house or barn was available, and
- 18:17Speaker 4: so you would go out in the middle of the
- 18:19Speaker 4: night to a secluded location a not too far distance
- 18:25Speaker 4: from a penitentiary. And teens would drink and do other
- 18:30Speaker 4: things they oughtn't. So final girl rules is you shouldn't
- 18:37Speaker 4: have sex, you shouldn't do drugs, and you should be
- 18:39Speaker 4: a habitual rule follower. Check check check. I was also
- 18:46Speaker 4: a cheerleader, which feels iconic in this. So I was
- 18:50Speaker 4: a cheerleader in a group of cheerleaders. They were not
- 18:52Speaker 4: following the rules. But I was a prude. Yes, I
- 19:01Speaker 4: was smart enough to like no, not to run into
- 19:05Speaker 4: the room directly with the killer. But I was dumb
- 19:08Speaker 4: and socially needy enough to definitely go to that party
- 19:10Speaker 4: and know no better but absolutely be there.
- 19:15Speaker 3: So how many of your filves were brutally murdered? It
- 19:17Speaker 3: can't be zero.
- 19:22Speaker 4: Define brutal. But I just think that I was I
- 19:28Speaker 4: in my youth. Had I known about that trope? Yeah, ooh,
- 19:33Speaker 4: I absolutely I checked all the boxes to be the
- 19:37Speaker 4: final girl in a slasher film.
- 19:39Speaker 1: You know, it's it's inspiring that you're still here, honestly
- 19:43Speaker 1: against all odds.
- 19:45Speaker 5: Yeah, you've survived.
- 19:47Speaker 1: I have gosh, Hey, you are the final girl, but
- 19:51Speaker 1: not the final girl because there are full players players.
- 19:55Speaker 1: I'm feeling very inspired. Are we ready to get on
- 19:57Speaker 1: with some games.
- 20:00Speaker 3: I'm pretty confident John and I would be murdered early.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Almost certainly pretty one and number three.
- 20:07Speaker 2: I think.
- 20:10Speaker 1: I'll let you decide, right scenes, let's all fall asleep,
- 20:15Speaker 1: enter the dream world, and begin the new nightmare that
- 20:18Speaker 1: is round one.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Round one is.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Called IMDb trivia, which this episode stands for I Must
- 20:29Speaker 1: disembowel bodies. This is just a standard trivia game with
- 20:35Speaker 1: no tricks, only treats.
- 20:37Speaker 3: I don't believe that.
- 20:41Speaker 1: I have here a board with six words on it
- 20:43Speaker 1: that I now realize are written in red, so they're
- 20:45Speaker 1: probably difficult to see.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Oh, I can't see them, all of them.
- 20:51Speaker 3: Occasion. There we go, Music, legs, jail typist, John n.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Max, There you go.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Each word corresponds to a ultiple choice question. Choose a word,
- 21:02Speaker 1: answer a question, get a point. But some words might
- 21:06Speaker 1: not directly relate to your question. So are there are tricks?
- 21:10Speaker 2: I lied? I knew it.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Okay, so we will begin with gratuitous boobs, as as
- 21:17Speaker 1: we always shut. Well, you want to go with John,
- 21:25Speaker 1: let's do it Joe with John? Oh so predictable.
- 21:29Speaker 2: It's spelled weird.
- 21:30Speaker 1: But okay, here's your question connected to John. Why did
- 21:36Speaker 1: John carpenter invite Robert England onto the set of Halloween,
- 21:42Speaker 1: A to build the interior sets of most of the
- 21:45Speaker 1: suburban homes. B to coach Nick Castle on how to
- 21:50Speaker 1: be an iconic horror villain, or C to throw bags
- 21:53Speaker 1: of dead leaves on the ground to make it look
- 21:55Speaker 1: like the right time of year.
- 21:58Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure that last one. I don't know.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, they definitely did the last one. I'm gonna
- 22:05Speaker 2: I'm gonna knock out B because he was not an
- 22:08Speaker 2: iconic horror villain by that point. This is in, This
- 22:11Speaker 2: is in what nineteen seventy eight, It was well before
- 22:15Speaker 2: Halloween was.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I do have some net recollection of him possibly
- 22:21Speaker 3: being a carpenter slash working on sets or something, but
- 22:25Speaker 3: I'm not sure if that's real or not.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Well, I have no inclination between the two of them.
- 22:31Speaker 2: So if you're feeling something, maybe we should go for it,
- 22:35Speaker 2: or if you're feeling something, we should go in the
- 22:37Speaker 2: opposite direction.
- 22:38Speaker 3: I have a terrible record, John, I want to yeah
- 22:42Speaker 3: that out.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Well, this could set the tone. But I do know
- 22:44Speaker 2: all right on Futurama, I do know that they had
- 22:47Speaker 2: to spread leaves around to make it feel like it
- 22:49Speaker 2: was fall because it was not when they filmed. Yeah,
- 22:52Speaker 2: it wasn't. It wasn't fall, and it was in Pasadena
- 22:54Speaker 2: instead of Illinois. Yeah, very different.
- 22:59Speaker 3: Well it's your name, so I'll let you pick.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Okay, set the tone. Yeah, yeah, exactly my fault. I'm
- 23:07Speaker 2: gonna go I'm gonna go leaves. I'm gonna leaves. I
- 23:11Speaker 2: can't tempt you with bee can't. You're eliminating that one. Okay?
- 23:14Speaker 1: It is see it is throwing the bags of leaves
- 23:17Speaker 1: on the ground. Yeah, just looking for work in Hollywood
- 23:20Speaker 1: at the time. I'll throw some leaves for John Carpenter.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Why not. We'll leave the carpentry to uh to Harrison Ford.
- 23:31Speaker 1: That's a point for gratuitous boobs. Let's move over to
- 23:34Speaker 1: scary tale ending. Pick a word.
- 23:36Speaker 4: We have music, legs, jail typist and mask music music.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Do you love the music? Questions?
- 23:46Speaker 1: Okay, here it is in a nightmare on Elm Street two.
- 23:50Speaker 1: What was added to the background music anytime Freddy was
- 23:54Speaker 1: on screen? It's a whale song B knife sharpening or
- 24:01Speaker 1: C compressed air released into a PVC pipe.
- 24:06Speaker 4: Oh. I don't know if this is real, but I
- 24:08Speaker 4: do feel like a or C because those are similar
- 24:12Speaker 4: type sound like, they are similar, like it's down a pipe,
- 24:16Speaker 4: they're they're in the same genre of sound to me,
- 24:21Speaker 4: compared to knife sharpening.
- 24:23Speaker 5: This is one of the ones that I've seen the
- 24:25Speaker 5: least of Oh my gosh, wait, what was B again?
- 24:30Speaker 2: Was knife shoppening?
- 24:31Speaker 4: Mm hmmm?
- 24:32Speaker 5: Uh but see, you know because but but that that
- 24:36Speaker 5: you heard that in the first one. You know because
- 24:38Speaker 5: you hear like his knives going along, but it's always
- 24:43Speaker 5: in the back. Oh my gosh.
- 24:44Speaker 4: I do not know enough to know the context of
- 24:47Speaker 4: the second one to see what would tonally add, and
- 24:51Speaker 4: I chose the wrong one. We'll have more. I'm feeling.
- 24:56Speaker 5: I'm I'm feeling C.
- 25:00Speaker 4: Let's let's go see.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Let's go see go and see compressed they're released into
- 25:05Speaker 1: a PBC pipe. Yes, it's not C. But I do
- 25:08Speaker 1: also think it would sound like whale song, which is
- 25:11Speaker 1: what it is. They added nice relaxing whale song to
- 25:15Speaker 1: the background of those killers.
- 25:18Speaker 4: Just just to calm everything down a little bit. Slashers
- 25:21Speaker 4: known for me in that one.
- 25:22Speaker 5: I knew the first one. I knew the first question
- 25:26Speaker 5: like the second was.
- 25:27Speaker 1: I was like, yeah, I'm so sorry. I didn't Oh wait,
- 25:32Speaker 1: I did make this game.
- 25:34Speaker 4: That's your fault.
- 25:36Speaker 3: I mean, orcas are murder machines, so that is true.
- 25:40Speaker 1: There's killer killer whale. It's there, It is there. Okay,
- 25:46Speaker 1: Gratuta's poops. Would you like to pick another word?
- 25:48Speaker 4: You've got legs, jail typist and mask.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Uh what are you feeling, Ben?
- 25:55Speaker 3: I mean, uh, the legs. That's another body part. We're
- 25:59Speaker 3: a bear a body part. Let's uh tie here.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, your question about legs. The first Jason scene
- 26:09Speaker 1: in Friday the Thirteenth, Part two is a shot of
- 26:11Speaker 1: Jason's legs walking across the street toward Alice's house. This
- 26:16Speaker 1: is a unique scene in the series, but for what
- 26:19Speaker 1: reason A. This scene was the only one in the
- 26:23Speaker 1: franchise where the were recorded live, as though Jason himself
- 26:30Speaker 1: is speaking them b This scene was filmed the day
- 26:33Speaker 1: before Jason's actor was scheduled to start work, so Jason
- 26:37Speaker 1: was played by the film's costume designer or see, they're
- 26:40Speaker 1: actually puppeteered animatronic legs to give an unsettling and inhuman
- 26:45Speaker 1: like pace to Jason's walk.
- 26:47Speaker 2: All right, this is gonna this is gonna seem weird, Ben,
- 26:50Speaker 2: But for some reason, I feel like I heard somewhere
- 26:54Speaker 2: that somebody else played Jason for the opening scene. That
- 26:58Speaker 2: seems like a solid film thing to do. You know,
- 27:01Speaker 2: You're like, this is just legs. We can get a
- 27:03Speaker 2: we can get some stand in feet for this one.
- 27:06Speaker 2: The animatronic thing seems like a budget blaster on Jews
- 27:10Speaker 2: that were not known for having great budgets, when you
- 27:11Speaker 2: could just have someone walk weird. Yeah, and uh, recording
- 27:17Speaker 2: the little sting live.
- 27:20Speaker 3: I'm not sure what they would get out of that.
- 27:23Speaker 2: Either that's the other one that I believe, or that
- 27:26Speaker 2: that would seem believable to me. But for some reason,
- 27:29Speaker 2: I'm I don't know, I'm feeling Bee. I'm with you, Okay, okay,
- 27:35Speaker 2: go for it, B go and B.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Yeah it is be. It was the costume designer for
- 27:41Speaker 1: the film. She was asked to stand in because the
- 27:43Speaker 1: the actor hadn't arrived yet and they wanted to stop shooting. Yeah,
- 27:47Speaker 1: so it's it's famous for being the only time Jason
- 27:50Speaker 1: was played by a woman. Is why that scene is
- 27:53Speaker 1: so unique.
- 27:53Speaker 3: That explains the high heels. I always thought that was weird.
- 27:57Speaker 4: Credit her, hey, her appropriately.
- 28:04Speaker 1: I want to see her on the convention scene. Actually,
- 28:06Speaker 1: now that you mention.
- 28:06Speaker 3: It, m Jason vorhees behind everyone's really really absolutely Jason's legs.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Okay, moving back on over to scary Tale ending, there's
- 28:19Speaker 1: three words left on the board. Some of them could
- 28:22Speaker 1: link to the trivia you might think. Others may be
- 28:26Speaker 1: a trick, may maybe a trap.
- 28:27Speaker 4: We have jail typist and mask.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Must go with mask, going with mask?
- 28:35Speaker 1: Okay, heck you in the first two Halloween movies, whose
- 28:39Speaker 1: likeness is distorted and used as the basis for the
- 28:42Speaker 1: iconic Michael Meyer's mask, is it a William Shatner, b
- 28:47Speaker 1: Marlon Brando or C Donald Trump? It's a William Shatner,
- 28:52Speaker 1: quick as anything. Yes, I'll do I take it.
- 28:56Speaker 2: You've got no uh oh, you're not gonna QUERI dispute it.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Dispute it.
- 29:01Speaker 4: I would be insane to challenge.
- 29:05Speaker 1: It is indeed Willie Shatner. Yeah, I don't know how
- 29:09Speaker 1: I feel about that if I were William and then
- 29:12Speaker 1: it's just like my melted face is being used as
- 29:14Speaker 1: the face of all serial.
- 29:16Speaker 5: Killers the picture of horror. Well, it's more like from
- 29:23Speaker 5: him being It's more from like the Captain Kirk look
- 29:28Speaker 5: too is where they were getting.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Sure, sure, but if I know anything from his public
- 29:31Speaker 1: appearances in the last thirty years, he can't really separate
- 29:34Speaker 1: the two all that much.
- 29:35Speaker 2: So yeah, it was it wasn't a mask of William
- 29:39Speaker 2: Shatner from that episode of Twilight Zone.
- 29:44Speaker 5: Catholic's get into fights with fan people online on Twitter.
- 29:50Speaker 3: I was convinced that one was a trap. It was
- 29:52Speaker 3: like mask, it'd be too easy. It's gonna be something
- 29:55Speaker 3: about like Pumpkinhead's mask or something.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Then sometimes it's a reverse trap, just a double bluff,
- 30:03Speaker 1: just to trap the Yeah, double bluff, that's how people
- 30:05Speaker 1: would normally say.
- 30:06Speaker 4: A reverse trap. Sometimes the one we're trying to catches ourselves.
- 30:14Speaker 4: What about the friends we made along the way?
- 30:18Speaker 1: I like it so much. Wisdom on the horror episode. Okay,
- 30:21Speaker 1: back on over to gratuitous boobs. Would you like to
- 30:24Speaker 1: pick your final word?
- 30:26Speaker 2: And what are we between typist and what jail? Jail?
- 30:29Speaker 4: On?
- 30:29Speaker 2: Right, I'll let you pay John. I picked the last
- 30:31Speaker 2: I can't think of what typest would be, so let's
- 30:35Speaker 2: do it. Let's go for it, all.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Right, going for typist? Okay, your question that might be
- 30:40Speaker 1: connected to that word? Why did Halloween four screenwriter Alan B.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Mcolroy insist on writing the film in eleven days from
- 30:49Speaker 1: start to finish? Is it a so he could also
- 30:53Speaker 1: accept the contract to write the nineteen eighty eight film
- 30:56Speaker 1: Mack and Me B so he could beat the writers
- 31:00Speaker 1: that was about to be called by the WGA or C.
- 31:03Speaker 1: To quote mister McElroy, I wasn't going to spend more
- 31:06Speaker 1: than two weeks of my life writing Halloween for the
- 31:09Speaker 1: return of Michael Meyer's.
- 31:12Speaker 3: Those are all very believable.
- 31:13Speaker 2: I know. Yeah, I have no inclination at all.
- 31:18Speaker 3: I mean, I do not remember if there was a
- 31:20Speaker 3: writer strike around that time.
- 31:21Speaker 2: It wasn't me.
- 31:22Speaker 3: It was things when I was ten every three years,
- 31:26Speaker 3: so yeah, I'd be like five, wasn't paying attention to
- 31:30Speaker 3: the WGA. That last one sounds very compelling.
- 31:35Speaker 2: It does so if I'm putting myself in the in
- 31:38Speaker 2: the head of of like which one would Matt have
- 31:41Speaker 2: made up? Or which two? I guess like a pull
- 31:46Speaker 2: like Mac and Me? Is that something Matt would do?
- 31:49Speaker 2: Or is that or is that too obscure?
- 31:51Speaker 1: I don't know how well do I know your treasure
- 31:53Speaker 1: cultural texts?
- 31:58Speaker 3: I mean, being excited about moving on to Mac and
- 32:01Speaker 3: Me is a little interesting.
- 32:03Speaker 2: Yeah, well they thought it was gonna be the next et,
- 32:05Speaker 2: like they set it up for a sequel.
- 32:08Speaker 3: It's true.
- 32:09Speaker 2: I don't know, man, I feel like like washing my
- 32:13Speaker 2: hands of it because I don't. I don't know, and
- 32:15Speaker 2: I want it to be c.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Which means it's probably a see.
- 32:22Speaker 2: I feel like I feel like Part four was written
- 32:25Speaker 2: with love, and it was a return to the franchise,
- 32:28Speaker 2: you know after Part three. So I and and four
- 32:32Speaker 2: is pretty good, Like it's it's a pretty good Halloween
- 32:36Speaker 2: movie in my opinion. So I I don't think it's
- 32:39Speaker 2: written by somebody who just who didn't give a shit.
- 32:42Speaker 3: Let's go with Mac and me. Then all right, we're.
- 32:45Speaker 1: Gonna go a going with Mac and me going with
- 32:47Speaker 1: a yeah. Out of course I'd make that up. It's
- 32:50Speaker 1: a hilarious sounding movie. It was the rightest strike, is why.
- 32:55Speaker 3: He had scored to know it happened, Yeah, to get
- 33:01Speaker 3: it in there and actually miss McElroy.
- 33:03Speaker 1: It was actually this was his break as a screenwriter.
- 33:05Speaker 1: He's been working in film and TV ever since, so
- 33:09Speaker 1: this was this was actually his breakthrough movie. I can't
- 33:11Speaker 1: imagine he ever would have said that about his breakthrough movie.
- 33:15Speaker 3: The big question is did he write Mac.
- 33:17Speaker 1: And me no he didn't, So no point there, which
- 33:25Speaker 1: means back on over to scary tail. Ending you are
- 33:28Speaker 1: left with jail which.
- 33:29Speaker 5: Is fitting, which is fitting for where you grew up.
- 33:33Speaker 4: Rodra absolutely in a prison of my own making.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Okay, here's your question about jail in a Nightmare on
- 33:45Speaker 1: Elm Street. All of the boiler room footage was shot
- 33:48Speaker 1: in the basement of the Lincoln Heights Jail in Los Angeles.
- 33:52Speaker 1: But why was the building condemned shortly after production wrapped?
- 33:57Speaker 1: Is it a A broken sewage pipe caused all cholera outbreak,
- 34:01Speaker 1: the first of its kind in America in over fifty years.
- 34:05Speaker 1: B eight members of the LAPD brutally beat five teenagers
- 34:10Speaker 1: in the boiler room, and the jail was closed due
- 34:12Speaker 1: to an ongoing investigation into them and the wider LAPD
- 34:16Speaker 1: or C asbestos.
- 34:20Speaker 5: I really want it to be A.
- 34:22Speaker 4: Oh, I do want it, and I don't.
- 34:24Speaker 5: Know if that's yeah, And B seems like something that
- 34:27Speaker 5: could happen, but I don't know. Yeah, but C seems more.
- 34:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:32Speaker 4: A feels real because oh my god. B seems real
- 34:36Speaker 4: because that's sad, And then C seems real because it's
- 34:41Speaker 4: just pretty reasonable. How many frickin' things had asbestos?
- 34:46Speaker 1: Yeah, so they all seem pretty reasonable.
- 34:49Speaker 5: Yeah, any any towards C. I really want it to
- 34:54Speaker 5: be A. But I don't know. That seems like it
- 34:56Speaker 5: would have been a bigger I don't know, a bigger thing, but.
- 35:00Speaker 4: I have I'm on the same exact thought process of
- 35:04Speaker 4: it's I think it's C. If I'm going to answer
- 35:07Speaker 4: the question, I want it to have been A.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, see you're going with C.
- 35:14Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it just up.
- 35:18Speaker 1: You didn't fall for any of the more interesting and
- 35:21Speaker 1: that's exactly what it is.
- 35:23Speaker 2: You beat me, that's fine.
- 35:24Speaker 3: The police closing down a jail to investigate police brutality, Yeah,
- 35:32Speaker 3: and A.
- 35:33Speaker 5: Just I just that just sounded so funny to me.
- 35:36Speaker 5: For sorry, I really wanted it to be that. But
- 35:38Speaker 5: I was like, that would have been a bigger story
- 35:40Speaker 5: and you would.
- 35:41Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, all right, Well there we go.
- 35:43Speaker 1: You made your way through the board, you slashed your
- 35:46Speaker 1: way through all of the words. That's the end of
- 35:48Speaker 1: round one. Let's use the knives on Freddy's fingers to
- 35:52Speaker 1: count the latest scores.
- 35:54Speaker 2: It's like, pick them up and count them like that.
- 35:57Speaker 4: One two.
- 36:00Speaker 1: We have Grotuitor spoops on two points and Scary tail
- 36:03Speaker 1: ending also on two points. Nice all tied up up.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Next is round two after this Halloween themed commercial break
- 36:11Speaker 1: spooky consumer Capitalism. See you after this. Round two is
- 36:22Speaker 1: called Devil's Advocate. It's a game where our players will
- 36:26Speaker 1: each have ninety seconds to defend the actions of an
- 36:29Speaker 1: iconic nineteen eighties fictional serial killer keyword fictional, as though
- 36:35Speaker 1: they are the defense lawyer of that horrible murderer. Points
- 36:39Speaker 1: will be awarded for fandom accuracy, good lines of defense,
- 36:43Speaker 1: and for using court room lawyer speak. And after your
- 36:47Speaker 1: time is up, we'll hear from the rest of our
- 36:49Speaker 1: panel to see what they thought of your defense. So
- 36:53Speaker 1: I have here the scary timer that adds pressure. Oh,
- 36:58Speaker 1: nothing scarier than a time sad thing.
- 37:01Speaker 2: That thing does.
- 37:03Speaker 3: I hope when it goes off it starts playing the
- 37:05Speaker 3: Halloween theme.
- 37:08Speaker 1: I you know what, I think I've got it on silent. Unfortunately,
- 37:11Speaker 1: that's pretty scarier.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Or even as like the last ten seconds, you know.
- 37:16Speaker 1: It'll be thet I've enjoyed practicing that in the last week.
- 37:20Speaker 1: So yeah, okay, So I think we're going to start
- 37:25Speaker 1: with John. You're going to be first up in the
- 37:30Speaker 1: boy the courtroom. Would you mind telling us which serial killer,
- 37:35Speaker 1: which fictional serial killer you'll be defending?
- 37:37Speaker 2: Well, ladies and gentlemen of the court, I will be
- 37:39Speaker 2: defending one Frederick Charles Krueger.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Lovely, not even going to check if that's his middle name.
- 37:48Speaker 2: It is accuracy matters. I thought about adding a Francis
- 37:51Speaker 2: in there, or like an Esquire, but I didn't sure sure?
- 37:55Speaker 2: All right, Well are you ready John? Yep?
- 37:58Speaker 1: Defend Freddy your time stoughts.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Now, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, we are here
- 38:04Speaker 2: to speak on behalf of one Frederick Charles Krueger. You
- 38:09Speaker 2: will find out that the tale is one that's not
- 38:11Speaker 2: of horror, but of horrific tragedy. He was born the
- 38:16Speaker 2: son of a nun who was assaulted when she was
- 38:19Speaker 2: left in an asylum with one hundred maniacs for multiple days.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Nobody even knows who his father is. In his early childhood,
- 38:27Speaker 2: he was adopted and beaten and abused probably verbally, physically, emotionally, etc.
- 38:34Speaker 2: By his adoptive father. His childhood was stolen from him,
- 38:39Speaker 2: so all he wanted to do when as he got
- 38:40Speaker 2: older was play with children. He wanted to recapture some
- 38:43Speaker 2: of that childhood. You know, I'm sure he had a
- 38:45Speaker 2: big razor glove. What little boy didn't want knives on
- 38:48Speaker 2: his fingers for fun. And after he had been exonerated
- 38:53Speaker 2: in court for this preposterous murder trial, he was the
- 38:59Speaker 2: victim again, a vigilante justice being burned alive in a
- 39:02Speaker 2: boiler room by mob vigilante parents, and his soul can't
- 39:08Speaker 2: even rest. After that, he's possessed by three dream demons
- 39:12Speaker 2: to go on a killing spree of teenagers under the
- 39:16Speaker 2: guise of revenge ladies and gentlemen. I present to you
- 39:21Speaker 2: the ultimate victim, one Freddy Krueger. Very good.
- 39:26Speaker 1: Anything you want to do in you last two seconds?
- 39:28Speaker 2: Peace? I don't know, Oh yeah, yeah.
- 39:33Speaker 4: Right in before the buzzer.
- 39:35Speaker 1: I love the idea that in a cult of law,
- 39:37Speaker 1: the jury just all state, stony faced as you said,
- 39:40Speaker 1: three dream demons.
- 39:44Speaker 4: Yes, I have heard of the dream demons.
- 39:46Speaker 2: It's fact.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, it's law accurate, and it will definitely have
- 39:51Speaker 1: a contributed to your points. Before I give John his points,
- 39:54Speaker 1: anyone from our panel got any comments on John's defense.
- 39:57Speaker 3: I mean double jeopardy, like if he was already exonerated
- 40:01Speaker 3: of the crime, like, yeah, yeah, you know I can't
- 40:05Speaker 3: try him again.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true. That's maybe I'm defending him in a
- 40:09Speaker 2: civil trial.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I suppose. I didn't say what kind of court this.
- 40:15Speaker 2: Was, paying you shit.
- 40:18Speaker 3: Traffic tickets. It was just unpaid.
- 40:21Speaker 4: The state of California versus that.
- 40:25Speaker 1: I would give you the full five points, John, but
- 40:27Speaker 1: I'm going to knock off one point for your defense,
- 40:30Speaker 1: primarily being the uh, it's okay if cycles of abuse repeat.
- 40:35Speaker 1: But apart from that, I loved the courtroom jargon. I
- 40:38Speaker 1: loved making the case for his lost childhood and his
- 40:41Speaker 1: horrific circumstances of his background. So four points four out
- 40:44Speaker 1: of five.
- 40:45Speaker 2: I'll take him four bladesling shling.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Okay, that was a great defense. Piece of pop culture
- 40:52Speaker 1: defense loyery there from gratuitous boops. But moving on over
- 40:55Speaker 1: to scary tail ending, I think we'll start with the
- 40:59Speaker 1: with the horror expert before we find out what Audra is.
- 41:05Speaker 2: Erin.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Would you mind telling us which killer you'll.
- 41:08Speaker 5: Be defending Michael Myers.
- 41:11Speaker 1: Of course this should be should be pretty easy for
- 41:14Speaker 1: such a Michael Meyers fan. But we'll find out. We'll
- 41:16Speaker 1: see what the court decides, are you ready.
- 41:19Speaker 5: Erin as ready as I'll ever be.
- 41:22Speaker 1: Your time starts now.
- 41:24Speaker 5: Hello, ladies and gentlemen of the jury. I'm here to
- 41:28Speaker 5: defend one Michael Myers. Who I mean picture this. You're
- 41:32Speaker 5: a young kid. You accidentally get upset. You were probably
- 41:35Speaker 5: being neglected by your sisters, so yeah, you kill her,
- 41:38Speaker 5: but I mean, kids make mistakes. And then you're locked
- 41:42Speaker 5: away in a sanitarium as a little little kid. You're
- 41:47Speaker 5: probably in there with like people that are just like
- 41:51Speaker 5: have their minds, talking to themselves, seeing things that aren't there.
- 41:54Speaker 5: They're probably picking on you because you're a little tiny kid.
- 41:57Speaker 5: You're scared, you're terrified. You probably don't get any visits
- 42:00Speaker 5: because your parents have basically given up on you. And
- 42:03Speaker 5: then you have this doctor, doctor Loomis, who at first
- 42:07Speaker 5: seems like he might want to help you, but then
- 42:10Speaker 5: he gives up on you too, and he doesn't even
- 42:12Speaker 5: like you know, like, even try to understand where you're
- 42:15Speaker 5: coming from, doesn't even try to understand why you don't
- 42:17Speaker 5: want to speak, why you don't want to talk. Of
- 42:19Speaker 5: course you don't want to talk. You've been lacked, locked
- 42:21Speaker 5: awave your whole life, and he calls you a monster,
- 42:25Speaker 5: he calls you evil, he calls you the Boogeyman, doesn't
- 42:28Speaker 5: even see you as human anymore. And then when you
- 42:30Speaker 5: finally break out and you're just going to try and
- 42:33Speaker 5: reunite with your long lost sister, only to find out
- 42:36Speaker 5: later that that's not your long lost sister, and you've
- 42:39Speaker 5: been lied to about that too, And then you're just
- 42:41Speaker 5: sent on all these different different shoes, your own adventure things,
- 42:45Speaker 5: and basically the whole world has been lying to you
- 42:47Speaker 5: this whole time, and you just really are just want
- 42:49Speaker 5: to go home and go to sleep and rest in
- 42:51Speaker 5: your own bed. So you know he did nothing wrong.
- 42:55Speaker 1: They go with even with a he did nothing wrong
- 42:57Speaker 1: at the end, I love that, like lawyers do you.
- 43:03Speaker 2: No, I loved that so much.
- 43:04Speaker 1: I loved the picture that you have painted of a
- 43:07Speaker 1: child who has been betrayed by the system that is
- 43:09Speaker 1: supposed to protect him.
- 43:11Speaker 4: Why would he speak when no one listens? This is
- 43:14Speaker 4: how how he's learning to communicate his needs exactly.
- 43:20Speaker 2: Man, These killers, they're they're really just victims of of
- 43:24Speaker 2: the world.
- 43:25Speaker 5: Themselves, victims of society.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Yeah, starting to really empathize with them, actually, yeah, any
- 43:34Speaker 1: any more? Comments from our from our panel.
- 43:36Speaker 4: I think it was incredible, very good.
- 43:39Speaker 2: I think it should I was thinking the same thing,
- 43:42Speaker 2: like I picked Freddy Krueger pretty quick because I like him.
- 43:45Speaker 2: But I was like, oh, man, Michael Myers, like he's
- 43:48Speaker 2: got he's got a strong case for him, a doctor
- 43:51Speaker 2: that calls him evil.
- 43:53Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, just the system, a system giving up on this, uh,
- 43:58Speaker 1: this poor boy, even as own parents.
- 44:01Speaker 2: I think I think there's even in one of the
- 44:03Speaker 2: later Halloween movies. I think when I think it might
- 44:06Speaker 2: be when doctor Loomis dies where he's just like I've
- 44:09Speaker 2: failed you, Michael, and it's like, like, what does he
- 44:12Speaker 2: mean by that? You know, he could have been he
- 44:15Speaker 2: could have been admitting to it.
- 44:17Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Oh wow, gosh.
- 44:21Speaker 4: It's actually his fault. Oh Loomis's fault.
- 44:25Speaker 5: It is it's all that you believe.
- 44:30Speaker 1: Well, look, Aeron, I'm only going to mark you down
- 44:32Speaker 1: for could have been a bit more courtroom jargon in there.
- 44:35Speaker 1: I love to hear some some you know, appealing to
- 44:39Speaker 1: the to the fictional people in this imagined space I
- 44:41Speaker 1: like to create. So I'm going to give you four
- 44:44Speaker 1: points as well. It was a very strong defense. We've
- 44:47Speaker 1: heard the defense of two killers. Let's have two more.
- 44:50Speaker 1: Back on over to gratuitous boobs. Ben, Which killer will
- 44:54Speaker 1: you be defending?
- 44:55Speaker 3: Jason Vorhees, Jason.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Vorhees, rounding out the unholy Trinity.
- 45:02Speaker 3: I like it?
- 45:03Speaker 1: Okay, are you ready to defend Jason?
- 45:06Speaker 3: Ah?
- 45:06Speaker 2: Yes, the time stots now.
- 45:09Speaker 3: The police is the court. I would like to enter
- 45:13Speaker 3: into state's evidence a few items here. So, my client,
- 45:17Speaker 3: mister Vorhees, is is on trial for the murder of
- 45:21Speaker 3: numerous philanderous drug using teenagers, scourges on society, if you will,
- 45:27Speaker 3: the kind of people that turned a blind eye when
- 45:30Speaker 3: he was a young man being bullied and abused, and
- 45:35Speaker 3: ultimately led to his fatal drowning in a lake. The addition,
- 45:40Speaker 3: which is point number one, this guy's dead. I mean,
- 45:43Speaker 3: I don't know if you can't convict a dead guy
- 45:47Speaker 3: of doing anything. I mean, he's dead, He's been to hell,
- 45:50Speaker 3: he's a recognized astronauts. He's just a victim of the
- 45:57Speaker 3: circumstances here. Not only that, what is the burden of
- 46:01Speaker 3: evidence here beyond a reasonable doubt. I'd like to point
- 46:04Speaker 3: out that many of the murders that are attributed to
- 46:06Speaker 3: him were actually done by his mother. That Connell whatever, Gentleal,
- 46:12Speaker 3: the dude from Seasons of the Witch that was. And
- 46:17Speaker 3: then there was that other guy I think it was
- 46:19Speaker 3: wasn't in five like the angry cop or whatever, like
- 46:22Speaker 3: he didn't he didn't do half of these murders they're
- 46:24Speaker 3: accusing him of. There's no way you can pin this
- 46:26Speaker 3: on him. There's a whole few of people beyond a
- 46:29Speaker 3: reasonable doubt my ass this man should be free to
- 46:33Speaker 3: continue to be dead.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Fantastic end. Okay, Oh my goodness.
- 46:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 46:43Speaker 1: I mean the whole premise that you can't convict a
- 46:45Speaker 1: dead guy is a really tough one to argue.
- 46:48Speaker 4: It's a strong premise.
- 46:50Speaker 1: And it may have had the delivery of a slightly
- 46:54Speaker 1: more unconventional lawyer, but there was a lot of colt
- 46:56Speaker 1: room jogging there and lawyer speaks any any comments from
- 47:01Speaker 1: the rest of our panel before I hand out points.
- 47:04Speaker 4: Ooh that felt good.
- 47:07Speaker 5: That was pretty good. Yeah, saying the dead although Season
- 47:13Speaker 5: of the Witch is Halloween, but.
- 47:16Speaker 2: Oh, I wasn't going to correct teammates.
- 47:21Speaker 5: Sorry, I had to know.
- 47:22Speaker 1: This is why we consult the of the cult room.
- 47:25Speaker 4: Get it.
- 47:26Speaker 1: It was going to be the full five points, but
- 47:28Speaker 1: it's going to be another four.
- 47:29Speaker 3: That's true. That's fair.
- 47:32Speaker 1: Man, This is this is how you play gately, bizarre,
- 47:36Speaker 1: excellent stuff.
- 47:38Speaker 3: I couldn't remember the top guys. Now, was that was
- 47:40Speaker 3: that Halloween five?
- 47:41Speaker 2: That was the other like it was Friday five? It
- 47:44Speaker 2: was Roy the paramedic.
- 47:46Speaker 3: Paramedic, that's what he was. I knew it was some
- 47:48Speaker 3: sort of with.
- 47:48Speaker 2: Piercing blue eyes.
- 47:51Speaker 4: And stabbing hands, the line about him being a recognized
- 47:58Speaker 4: astronaut and really making him sound like a hero of
- 48:01Speaker 4: the country.
- 48:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I love that. Excellent, excellent, Oh I was I
- 48:07Speaker 2: was thinking too. He also had to watch one of
- 48:10Speaker 2: those asshole kids behead his mother exactly.
- 48:12Speaker 5: I was thinking that too. That was another.
- 48:14Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true.
- 48:15Speaker 1: Yeah, that would have been good, Ben, that would have
- 48:17Speaker 1: got your five points.
- 48:17Speaker 3: Well, I couldn't bring that out because I was trying
- 48:19Speaker 3: to pin some of the murders on her. Yeah, you
- 48:21Speaker 3: can't convict a dead person, so I didn't want to
- 48:24Speaker 3: want to confuse the true. That's sort of gotta control
- 48:27Speaker 3: the erroneous information.
- 48:30Speaker 1: Yes, yes, I love these terms. I don't know what
- 48:32Speaker 1: any of them mean, but I love them. Okay, Oudra,
- 48:37Speaker 1: are you ready to defend a killer?
- 48:40Speaker 4: I'm as ready as I'm going to be.
- 48:43Speaker 1: Okay, I'm sorry if these ninety seconds are long, but
- 48:46Speaker 1: let us know what killer? What killer will you be defending?
- 48:49Speaker 1: In the cult?
- 48:50Speaker 4: I will be defending leather face, leather face, leather Charles face.
- 49:01Speaker 1: Well at least yes, okay, are you ready?
- 49:09Speaker 4: Absolutely?
- 49:10Speaker 1: The time starts now.
- 49:12Speaker 4: Ladies and gentlemen of the jury. I would like to
- 49:16Speaker 4: present my case for leatherface. This this is a simple man.
- 49:21Speaker 4: Based on all of the testimonials you've heard today, I'm
- 49:24Speaker 4: gonna assume he probably had some absolute trauma in his youth,
- 49:31Speaker 4: probably some terribly mean people to him which caused severe
- 49:35Speaker 4: psychological damage and then resulting in him wanting to wear
- 49:42Speaker 4: leather on his face. This is, this is where we're
- 49:45Speaker 4: at now. He's just a simple member of the BDSM community.
- 49:51Speaker 4: I think who among us, which there's probably a couple
- 49:56Speaker 4: of people in this jury who also can find some
- 50:00Speaker 4: common ground with uh, leather face in who are we
- 50:07Speaker 4: to shame? Who are we? Who? Amongst us? He has
- 50:11Speaker 4: a big chainsaw. As I said, I am from a
- 50:14Speaker 4: small town. I'm a simple country lawyer, and in my
- 50:19Speaker 4: town that person was always a hero. A log falls
- 50:22Speaker 4: down across your driveway. Who are you gonna call leather
- 50:26Speaker 4: Face and he's gonna hack that log? Oh boy, he's
- 50:32Speaker 4: gonna I'm from Illinois, so it's an Illinois chainsaw assistance.
- 50:37Speaker 4: It doesn't have the same ring to it. He is
- 50:39Speaker 4: gonna be a helpful man in the community.
- 50:41Speaker 1: There we go. That's that's your time. Well building up
- 50:48Speaker 1: leather Face as a pillar of the community.
- 50:51Speaker 2: Just a bondage.
- 50:55Speaker 5: B smart was the best.
- 50:58Speaker 2: I love.
- 50:59Speaker 3: I love the idea that those kids that like they
- 51:02Speaker 3: got a flat tire and just forgot the safe word.
- 51:12Speaker 1: If only I'd remembered Strawberry, If only I remembered.
- 51:14Speaker 2: Strawberry, chainsaw fires up. You know, thought thought it was consensual?
- 51:22Speaker 5: Absolutely, yeah, misunderstanding.
- 51:25Speaker 1: First of all, you're definitely getting a fandom accuracy point
- 51:27Speaker 1: for mentioning chainsaw. We got about a minute in and
- 51:30Speaker 1: we haven't heard chainsaw. But then you mentioned chainsaw as Wow,
- 51:33Speaker 1: there he is with his big chainsaw.
- 51:35Speaker 5: Yep.
- 51:36Speaker 4: The listeners that know at home, they absolutely knew who
- 51:40Speaker 4: leather Face was.
- 51:41Speaker 1: Sure, sure, yeah, you were insulting the intelligence of the jury.
- 51:44Speaker 4: Oh no, I know they know.
- 51:49Speaker 1: Okay, well look you you also must know you know
- 51:53Speaker 1: that didn't quite have as much law references as the
- 51:58Speaker 1: other three use me face.
- 52:04Speaker 4: Yeah, leather face, chainsaw, what else do you need to know?
- 52:10Speaker 2: That's it?
- 52:12Speaker 1: So look, I can't give you as many points, but
- 52:14Speaker 1: I am going to give you three points because I
- 52:15Speaker 1: thought you built your case for him being a valued
- 52:17Speaker 1: member of the community.
- 52:18Speaker 4: That is very generous of you, and I appreciate it.
- 52:22Speaker 1: Okay, how did it feel to defend psychopaths?
- 52:26Speaker 2: That was wonderful.
- 52:28Speaker 3: I got a big paycheck.
- 52:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I felt like a real lawyer.
- 52:34Speaker 1: Okay, that is the end of the round. Let's ask
- 52:37Speaker 1: Lourie Strode to calculate the latest scores. She survives most
- 52:41Speaker 1: of those movies, so she must be pretty smart. Okay,
- 52:44Speaker 1: those scores are scary tale ending are on nine points,
- 52:47Speaker 1: but gratuitous boobs are in the lead with ten points.
- 52:52Speaker 4: Close.
- 52:54Speaker 3: We can still fuck this up, don't worry.
- 52:56Speaker 2: Oh yeah, too close for me to from a feel confident.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Oh yeah, because it is round three next after these ads.
- 53:06Speaker 1: But we've been commissioned for thirteen sequels, so we're not
- 53:09Speaker 1: going anywhere back soon. Round three is called merch Table.
- 53:19Speaker 1: It's the game that looks across the weird and wonderful
- 53:22Speaker 1: world of fandom merch. I have in front of me
- 53:25Speaker 1: a list of genuine and genuinely weird eighties slasher merch
- 53:29Speaker 1: from etsy dot com. I will read the title of
- 53:33Speaker 1: a listing and drop an image in our discord chat,
- 53:36Speaker 1: and using just those two pieces of information, our players
- 53:40Speaker 1: must write down how much they think the item has
- 53:43Speaker 1: been listed for, and the closest answer is guaranteed a point,
- 53:47Speaker 1: but I'll throw out bonus points for if multiple people
- 53:50Speaker 1: are super close or if someone is like spot on.
- 53:53Speaker 4: Okay, because the descriptions are good, but the photos.
- 53:56Speaker 3: I'd like to say that makes this easier, but I
- 53:59Speaker 3: doubt it.
- 54:00Speaker 4: I think it adds a new level of complication.
- 54:04Speaker 1: So we are going to begin with a classic Etsy listing,
- 54:08Speaker 1: Miguel Maya's Fine Art Halloween print horror art print eight
- 54:12Speaker 1: by twelve inches, Halloween Lover's Michael Meyer's print. And I'm
- 54:19Speaker 1: dropping the image in.
- 54:20Speaker 5: The chat now, Oh my gosh, I want this now.
- 54:28Speaker 3: A rose.
- 54:29Speaker 1: That's amazing, Miguel Mayers. So yes, if everyone would like
- 54:33Speaker 1: to write down how much they think that has been
- 54:35Speaker 1: listed for on Etsy?
- 54:37Speaker 4: And you said it's a print, it is a print, yes.
- 54:40Speaker 2: Yeah, And we asked, can we ask questions like is
- 54:42Speaker 2: it framed?
- 54:43Speaker 1: You can ask some questions I won't answer that you're
- 54:49Speaker 1: I'll answer. I'll answer some questions.
- 54:51Speaker 2: I appreciate that. I appreciate you being transparent. That you could,
- 54:55Speaker 2: but you won't.
- 54:56Speaker 4: I could, But did you reread the listing the wording.
- 54:59Speaker 2: That I can do?
- 55:00Speaker 1: Gel Meyer's Fine Art Halloween print, horror art print eight
- 55:03Speaker 1: by twelve inches, Halloween Lovers, Michael Meyer's print.
- 55:07Speaker 3: Okay, fine art, Fine, it's on.
- 55:11Speaker 2: Etsy should have he.
- 55:12Speaker 3: Should have undone like the first three or four buttons
- 55:14Speaker 3: in his coveralls there and shown some chest hair.
- 55:17Speaker 2: Definitely.
- 55:18Speaker 3: Really, I do have.
- 55:20Speaker 5: A shirt called That's Magic Mike, like a Magic mic
- 55:23Speaker 5: themed shirt and myers.
- 55:25Speaker 2: That's not good.
- 55:27Speaker 3: It is awesome.
- 55:28Speaker 1: Yeah, eron, you might enjoy quite a few of these
- 55:30Speaker 1: items on I know.
- 55:31Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, send links absolutely. Okay.
- 55:37Speaker 1: Do you all have a number written down for that one?
- 55:40Speaker 2: Do? Yep?
- 55:41Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 55:42Speaker 1: Okay, let's start things off with gratuitous boobs for this one, John,
- 55:46Speaker 1: what have you got for this?
- 55:48Speaker 2: I've got twenty five dollars.
- 55:50Speaker 1: Twenty five dollars, Ben, what have you.
- 55:52Speaker 3: Got I'm in the same ballpark. I got twenty four
- 55:54Speaker 3: ninety nine.
- 55:55Speaker 1: Wow, just a penny off, all right? Moving on to
- 56:00Speaker 1: scary Tale ending Erin.
- 56:03Speaker 5: Thirty two ninety eight.
- 56:06Speaker 1: Thirty two to ninety eight, I love it around the
- 56:09Speaker 1: same ballpark, but a little higher in Audra twenty.
- 56:11Speaker 4: Five ninety nine.
- 56:15Speaker 1: In a similar range, all thinking a similar thing, and
- 56:18Speaker 1: all thinking a much more reasonable price than this is.
- 56:21Speaker 2: Actually, no, is it framed. It's not framed.
- 56:27Speaker 1: It is still being listed for and being sold in
- 56:30Speaker 1: mass for sixty dollars. So erin, you're going to go.
- 56:34Speaker 1: You're going to get the point for the team there
- 56:36Speaker 1: for being the closest.
- 56:38Speaker 5: But now I don't know if I'll buy that one.
- 56:41Speaker 2: Are you sure it's actually being sold?
- 56:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it's It seemed like there were tons of reviews
- 56:45Speaker 1: for the listing.
- 56:46Speaker 4: Who I wonder if it's bigger than I think?
- 56:50Speaker 3: He said eight by twelve right, that's not Yeah, oh it.
- 56:54Speaker 2: Did say to eight feet by twelve feet.
- 56:56Speaker 3: Yeah, correct, difference sixty dollars be a deal. At that point, she.
- 57:02Speaker 2: Did, I'm gonna I'm gonna do do one with Freddy
- 57:04Speaker 2: and call it call it Frederico.
- 57:07Speaker 1: Yeah, there we Goruger. Let's see that photo shoot Rose
- 57:12Speaker 1: and everything. Okay, we'll move on to another listing. Remember
- 57:16Speaker 1: this is Etsy. It's that Oh it's boutique. It's so special,
- 57:20Speaker 1: it's got that little higher price. They come from the
- 57:24Speaker 1: same stores that Amazon, do you guys? Okay, here is
- 57:29Speaker 1: your second item, full size Freddy Krueger shadow Box Nightmare
- 57:35Speaker 1: on Elm Street.
- 57:36Speaker 4: Full sized.
- 57:38Speaker 5: Yeah, that's Freddy Krueger.
- 57:40Speaker 3: What shadow box mean?
- 57:42Speaker 4: Is it a full sized Freddyger?
- 57:44Speaker 3: Do we need a banana for scale?
- 57:46Speaker 2: Oh? Cool?
- 57:46Speaker 5: That is pretty cool.
- 57:49Speaker 3: Stick out the top of the box.
- 57:52Speaker 1: Hmm, that's a good touch. We've got the full kind
- 57:54Speaker 1: of Freddy glove inside a light box here. I suppose
- 57:58Speaker 1: a shadow box.
- 57:59Speaker 4: We the remote, so there's like it does have light time,
- 58:04Speaker 4: different color lights, and it probably.
- 58:06Speaker 5: Moved the fingers probably are. Yeah, that's pretty cool.
- 58:10Speaker 1: You would charge extra for that feature. Yeah, think about
- 58:13Speaker 1: what this could cost. We're not playing higher or lower
- 58:17Speaker 1: this time, that'd be that'd be too easy.
- 58:21Speaker 4: I'm I'm thinking first thought is best thought on this
- 58:24Speaker 4: almost all.
- 58:25Speaker 5: Run down to touch it.
- 58:27Speaker 4: Because the more the more I think about it, I
- 58:29Speaker 4: feel like the worse I'm the further away I'm going
- 58:32Speaker 4: to get.
- 58:32Speaker 1: All right, Well with that scary tale ending, let's let's
- 58:35Speaker 1: hear what you've got, Aaron, what do you have for this?
- 58:36Speaker 2: One?
- 58:37Speaker 1: Fifty five ninety nine, fifty five ninety nine?
- 58:41Speaker 2: I like it.
- 58:42Speaker 1: You couldn't even buy a sexy Michael Mayers print for that.
- 58:48Speaker 2: Ad.
- 58:49Speaker 4: I went so far under last time. I should have
- 58:52Speaker 4: doubled my answer last time. So I doubled my instinct
- 58:55Speaker 4: and I went one.
- 58:56Speaker 1: Ten, one hundred and ten dollars.
- 58:59Speaker 2: Okay.
- 59:00Speaker 4: I doubled my instinct and said that's probably close.
- 59:04Speaker 1: All right, Okay, So we've got a couple of different
- 59:07Speaker 1: prices there, John, what have you got for this?
- 59:11Speaker 2: I went with one hundred and ninety eight ninety I think,
- 59:14Speaker 2: I think, I think this person's putting some time and
- 59:16Speaker 2: some materials into it. Lights, remote, they're they're charging, they're
- 59:21Speaker 2: charging big for it. It's yeah, almost up to two
- 59:23Speaker 2: hundred dollars and ben.
- 59:25Speaker 3: One thirty five or one thirty six, one thirty.
- 59:28Speaker 2: Six, one thirty six.
- 59:30Speaker 3: It's a wooden box, like someone had to like make
- 59:32Speaker 3: a box out of wood for it.
- 59:34Speaker 1: That's true, that's true. Yeah, And I like how specific.
- 59:37Speaker 1: The one three sixes is a number you do? You
- 59:38Speaker 1: do see that on Nancy sometimes where it's just like,
- 59:41Speaker 1: this is how much it is. Man, I'm not putting
- 59:42Speaker 1: the ninety nine s on the end. You can't make me. Yeah, yeah,
- 59:45Speaker 1: the actual answer is one hundred and fifty dollars. So Ben,
- 59:48Speaker 1: you are the closest and scoring the point field team
- 59:52Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty dollars.
- 59:54Speaker 3: Okay, but our powers combined, John are pretty damn.
- 59:57Speaker 2: Close, dude. I almost at one forty nine. That was
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: my first one, and then I went higher. Kud a
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: squirter bonus.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: I would have thrown out a good few points for that. Yeah, oh,
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: such a shame.
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: Whatever. Well, just look I almost guessed it perfectly. Oh brilliant.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: Okay, So let's have another item Halloween Jason Friday, The
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: Thirteenth Shower Curtain, Horror Movie, bathroom decor, Lovely House Gift
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: and here it.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: Is seen this before. Yeah, oh never mind.
- 1:00:35Speaker 5: Oh so you mean you can choose who you put
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: on there? It's not all three of them.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: This one is just Jason.
- 1:00:42Speaker 5: I think I know, but but from the description I
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: thought it was going to be all three of them.
- 1:00:46Speaker 5: It's so you can choose between Jason or Freddy.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: Oh I see, yes, okay, yeah, let's say yeah. But
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: the picture is for for Jason, and they would probably
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: all be priced the same. I just like the the
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: position of this like very basic looking bathroom of like
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: someone who wouldn't have a Friday the Thirteenth shower curtain.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: Because there's no other references to the kind of horror
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: or anything. It's just looks like an airbnb.
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: Yeah, we've been trying to buy a house, so we've
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: been looking at all sorts of listings. I would love
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: to see that in one of the listings.
- 1:01:19Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just absolutely standard in every other room, and
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: then just one bathroom has this.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: And I don't think it's photoshopped either, because the reflection
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: looks pretty legit, like they didn't just flip the image
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: in the reflection. It looks like they actually put this
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: up in their much nicer bathroom.
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I buy that.
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: It's a little insight into the life of this person
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: who must just sell shower curtains and like take thet
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: I've put the Jason one up, I'll put the Freddy
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: one up. And now, yeah, lucrative business because they're.
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: Just a house they rent, like like pornos do. Some
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: use it for a little bittin.
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: I have to rent this house to hang some curtains.
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: That's not a euphemism.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: Lovely bit of business. Okay, yeah, let's find out how
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: lucas if this business is. Let's see what the prices
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: we have on the on the boards, Ben, what have
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: you got.
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: For this one?
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: Forty seven dollars?
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: Forty seven dollars? John? I hope Ben's correct, because I
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: picked forty five.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: Forty five okay, pretty close? And moving on over Uldra,
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: I did.
- 1:02:37Speaker 4: Go lower than the doubling strategy because I did think
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: I was pretty close. Thirty two is where I went.
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: Dollars thirty two, yes, and erin forty two fifty?
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: Oh day, can I get a reminder of Ben's and John's.
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: Forty five and forty seven forty seven? Okay?
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: Well these are all reasonable price is for a shower curtain,
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: But on Etsy dot com it's gonna set you back
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: eighty bucks.
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: WHOA, Yes, I should have doubled my ants.
- 1:03:11Speaker 5: Like they're like, you can get them for like twenty
- 1:03:13Speaker 5: twenty five dollars.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: Oh easily easily look like this.
- 1:03:18Speaker 4: Yeah, you can get them for twenty dollars and then
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: sell them for as on that.
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: Yeah, it's that Etsy markup for sure. God damn, but yeah, Ben,
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: I think you were the closest there. So that's that's
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: another point for gratuitous boobs. That's a gratuitous price, it
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: really is.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: I might actually put the put this one the picture
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: in first before I read.
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: The description I love whatever is in this photo that
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: prompted you to decide we needed to see the photo
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: before the description.
- 1:03:52Speaker 5: I need this one. Hello, Oh my gosh, that's amazing.
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: Let's see we know what this is. This is a
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: slasher serve a bloody pickle bowl kit picklebowl battles. That's
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: the listing.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: Okay, So it's plural paddles, yep, pickleboll paddles.
- 1:04:15Speaker 5: You get two of them.
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: I would assume I almost messaged you my answer in
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: the discord.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: I thought this was something a lot ruder when I
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: opened up this image.
- 1:04:30Speaker 4: Based on the reactions, I think that you were probably
- 1:04:33Speaker 4: not the only person who thought that.
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: Already given away my safe word on this recording. So
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: strawberries right right.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: Okay, ad block is updated. That's fantastic.
- 1:04:46Speaker 4: Nice.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: All right, let's find out what prices you have written
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: down for this one. Scary tail ending eron.
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: Oh my gosh, sixty three dollars and fifteen cents.
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: Sixty three three dollars and fifteen cents, I like.
- 1:05:02Speaker 5: I think it's a pair. I should have done sixty nine.
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: Sorry everybody, it is always.
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: A fun it's your first episode. It'll come later. And ultra.
- 1:05:15Speaker 4: I went again with my idea of like vaguely double
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: my instinct, so I went with eighty nine ninety.
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: Nine, eighty nine ninety nine I like it, along with
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: sixty three fifteen fifteen.
- 1:05:27Speaker 5: Yes, that's very important.
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: Can't forget the fifteen cents.
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: John, I kept my last one and went forty five again.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: Forty five dollars again, and Ben.
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: We're playing the field. I went one twenty because pickleball's
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: pretty hot right now.
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: It's trendy.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: Yeah, and there are two of them. It's the thing.
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: But this seems like a pretty good price for some pickleballs.
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: I'm actually going to give pickleball paddles, not just the pickleballs.
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: I am going to give two points to Erin for
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: being just a few bucks away ninety nine for the pair,
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: which means, Ben, you doubled it. You you were trying
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: to buy four paddles.
- 1:06:07Speaker 4: Is the thing?
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: Right, well done.
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: Erin Ben's trying to play doubles.
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I just have more friends.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: Yeah, nicely done. Pretty close. That was actually the first
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: thing where I'm like, oh, that's priced. Probably how much
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: it should cost? Right, like pickleball hobby, good hobby, outdoor,
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: you're at least using it. I suppose you are using
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: a shower curtain technically, but eighty dollars as bonkers. I'd
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: rather hang pickleball paddles from a shower. Use that to
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: stop the water getting out. This isn't good. Okay, here
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: is your next item, Michael Meyer's three D printer duck.
- 1:06:51Speaker 4: Okay, I think, oh okay, is.
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: This the five yes? Yes, I will answer this. I
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: will answer this question. It is the duck actually printed out?
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: It is okay, not just the fact just okay. However,
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: you have no sense of scale. What's fair?
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: Let's go existing the urge to just do forty five.
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: Forty five.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: One of these days, well solid gold Freddy glove forty
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: five dollars okay with August MANswers for this one. You okay, John,
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: what have you got for this?
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: I'm going thirty five thirty five.
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: Taking away ten dollars thirty five for the printed duck.
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: Ben I went thirty one thirty one for the printed duck. Again,
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: pretty close in sync with your answers.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: We've known each other most of our lives. It seems
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: we've bought a lot of rubber duckies.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: And Aaron, what have you got for this?
- 1:07:54Speaker 5: I went way hi eighty five ninety.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: Two, eighty five ninety two.
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: Never know it could be another shower curtain.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, and Uldra I.
- 1:08:04Speaker 4: Went so low because I think I imagined it small. I
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: went twenty twenty dollars.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: Well, hey, look, I think I thought of him as
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: The tough part is the scale, right, like Eron, I imagine
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: you were imagining a pretty big, pretty big duck.
- 1:08:22Speaker 5: Yeah, I was just imagining. They were just like, look
- 1:08:25Speaker 5: at how cool cool this is this three D printed thing.
- 1:08:28Speaker 5: You can't get it anywhere else.
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: It's true, it is very unique looking. It a duck
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: for your pool or something.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: It's actually a very tiny duck. I've seen the other
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: images and it is like this big and it is
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: listed for seven dollars the point for being closest.
- 1:08:53Speaker 5: Yeah, I would have known that. I would have been
- 1:08:54Speaker 5: like ten dollars.
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: Is this little guy.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Okay, I've got one final item. I've saved the best
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: until last. Your listing is titled Taxidermy Mouse Freddy Krueger,
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: A Nightmare on Elm Street, Never Sleep Again.
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: Oh, I can't wait to see what Yeah?
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: Oh man, Oh my goodness, mine load's up slower than yours.
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: Wow. Do they have more than one of these for sale?
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: Are they all?
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: I will answer that question. This is a one of
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: a kind, Freddy Kruger, taxidermy man, one.
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: Of a kind.
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: I believe that.
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: I do think taxidermy is pretty expensive.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: On the on the other side of that, they're not
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: very good at it.
- 1:09:40Speaker 4: That could just be a messed up mouse.
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: Yeah, but.
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: Yeah, this terrifying little mouse. Wow, that's pretty good.
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: All right, let's see what prices you've got written down.
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: Audrey.
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: You said that taxidermy is pretty expensive.
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: Well, what have you gone for?
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: I went for two fifty, two.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Hundred and fifty dollars, okay, Erin, I.
- 1:10:07Speaker 5: Was in kind of the same two twenty fifty two.
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: To twenty fifty two. Yes, I love these specific amounts.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: It's fantastic. And Ben, I.
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: Went three fifty three fifty Just in case this I
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: want to know it's gotta be a lot of hours
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: to put into this, right, Yeah, uh, you gotta think,
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: and John, I don't know if this person values their time.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: So I went, I went one to eighty seven.
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: Okay, on they all value their time.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: And one eighty seven is the forty five dollars of
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: the taxidermy price world.
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: Absolutely, well, yeah.
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: It's it's it's actually gonna be. It's gonna be, points
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: to Erin again. I'm gonna say one point because it
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: is like more than a few dollars off, but it's
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: two hundred and thirty six thirty is what this is.
- 1:11:00Speaker 5: Wow.
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: I just googled taxidermy mouse and one of the first
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: ones that popped up was on a stripper pole. So
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: this is an industry.
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: When I lived in New Orleans, you could all kinds
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: of places you could get the little taxidermy frogs that
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: are like playing saxophones and drums and stuff.
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: Oh yeah, well, I know.
- 1:11:20Speaker 5: In the supernatural fandom at their conventions, their creation conventions,
- 1:11:24Speaker 5: there used to be this person that would go every
- 1:11:26Speaker 5: time and she was known as Squirrel Girl because she
- 1:11:29Speaker 5: would bring taxidermy squirrels and have in the photo ops.
- 1:11:33Speaker 5: Have the actors take pictures. It was really kind of creepy.
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: But with these taxidermy squirrels.
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: Oh wow, I think I remember that because they used
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: to call in my tumbler das. I believe they used
- 1:11:48Speaker 4: to call Dean and Sam moose and squirrel.
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: They still do.
- 1:11:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I figured I figured that wouldn't that wouldn't die
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: out because it's true. It's just true.
- 1:12:01Speaker 5: That's my other thing, is Dean Winchester is is Yeah?
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: So yeah, when we revisit Supernatural, we'll have to have
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: you back on.
- 1:12:08Speaker 5: Yes, please?
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: Did someone bring a taxidermy moose as well to the.
- 1:12:15Speaker 5: Too big Yeah?
- 1:12:16Speaker 4: I can't fit that in a carry on.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: Not as easy as a scroll attitude lovely price guessing there.
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: Let's uh, let's take a look at the scores because
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: that is the end of round three, and we shall
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: use the Roman numerals after every Friday the thirteenth movie
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: to calculate those scores. Lots of numbers to play with,
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: and thirteen every time. Okay, gratuitous boobs are on twelve points,
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: but jumping ahead into the lead scary tail ending fourteen points.
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: Oh but it can all change in the quick fire round.
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: But before we get to the quick fire a round.
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: Let's talk prizes this episode. Star Prize is the concept
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: of the final Girl. So, Audra, I guess you win, Audra.
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: No, you don't.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: But our winning team will also receive a box of
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: murder weapons and bloody clothes I've been trying to get
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: rid of for just so long. Okay, up next is
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: our crucial quick fire around. But first we simply must
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: play one final set of ads one two Ryan's Coming
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: for You three four, Mint Mobile Deals Galore five six Reynolds,
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: Billionaire Stick seven eight just make Films Mate nine to
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: ten will be back after them.
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: Ah.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: Final quick fire around will test your broader pop culture
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: knowledge and it's called slasher fiction for instan earlier. But
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: are we all familiar with the concept of slash fiction?
- 1:14:03Speaker 5: Yes?
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: Good, that's good stuff.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: Aaron might have an advantage here, John, I'll explain for
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: you and the listeners. Slash fiction is a genre of
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: fan fiction that involves shipping two male characters from a
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: fandom the same fandom, especially in this round, together to
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: create a gay romance story, and often they are written
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: because of a lack of gay representation in the media,
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: building off of concepts like queer coding. And it's just
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: called slash fiction, not because of murder, but just because
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: of the forward slash that goes between between their names.
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: So in this game, I will give our players clues
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: to a slash fiction pairing from pop culture history. Those
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: clues will be in the style of Freddy Krueger, who
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: has been told by HR he can't call anyone a bitch.
- 1:14:49Speaker 4: Ah. That's half his vocabulary, So what is he gonna say?
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: So it's my bad impression of Freddy Krueger, but on
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: his best behavior. And there is a classic Gates Leapers twist.
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: You need to give a big slash in the middle
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: of your two names, otherwise I can't give you the point.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: So an answer would be name one, slash name two.
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: And if you just say and instead of slash slash,
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: I can't give you the parts. It is quick fire,
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: so you buzz in by yelling out your team name.
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: Let's practice that scared boobs, boobs.
- 1:15:27Speaker 4: I'm just going with scary.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: Yeah you can short, okay, okay, yeah, scary boobs scary
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: that's what we're left with, boobs. So we'll do an
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: example to make sure we're all on the same page
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: and so I can remember what Freddy Krueger sounds like.
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: I love these guys.
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: Imagining them up there on the Starship Enterprise really gets mops.
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: Yes, John Captain Kirk slash Spock.
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: Yes, I would like to see a physical slash slash,
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: but the word slash will be fined as long as
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: you don't say and or any other connective Yeah, and
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: just like John did, you can interrupt me at any point.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: So should we? Should we start this timer?
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: Let's do it all right?
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: Here we go. I love these guys. They're always solving
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: a mystery, and they're British as well.
- 1:16:20Speaker 4: Scary.
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: I'm gonna I'm gonna go with Ordre.
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: Just yeah, I think so, I said at the same
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: time I heard her.
- 1:16:26Speaker 4: And I'm sure there's Sherlock slash Watson.
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: Yes, it is, indeed, it is indeed a classic classic ship.
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: I love these guys.
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: An angel sent from heaven into the arms of his
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: of this bad boy with a sweet.
- 1:16:41Speaker 5: Ride, scary scary, Yes, erin Cass slash Dean.
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: It is indeed from supernatural good stuff. I love these guys.
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: What's more pure than a love between a king and
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: his wizard. Legends the pair of Boobs Yes, Ben.
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: Arthur slash Ah Oh my god, Oh no.
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: John was second to buzz In if John, you know
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: the other half.
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: Of Yeah King Arthur slash Merlin.
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, Well there we go. We'll give it to you.
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: We'll give it to you.
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: My brain just dumped on me.
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: I believe you because you pulled Arthur. So. I love
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: these guys, their heroes, to their country, world and each other.
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: He melted his frozen heart and became a cyborg hell
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: bent on destroying him. That's hot, even though he's a
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: winter soldier.
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: Boobs Yes, John Uh, Steve Rogers slash Bucky Barnes.
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: Lovely stuff, the classic Marvel parrot. I have no idea
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: if this voice is anything like Freddy kruegodbye. I just
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: believed you. I believed it. I love these guys. He's
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: a werewolf and he can turn into a regular dog,
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: which is kind of weird if you think about it,
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: but I won't judge because I'm a muggle.
- 1:18:27Speaker 4: Names scared.
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: Yes, is this.
- 1:18:38Speaker 4: Remus slash serious?
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: It is?
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: Yes, serious Black slash.
- 1:18:44Speaker 4: My tumbler girl days are hitting.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: I love these guys. They have such magnetic brain chemistry
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: and it's so lovely when older men find love boobs. Yes,
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: John Professor X slash Magneto. Yes, it is indeed, well done,
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: good stuff. I love these guys, the third generation space
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: Opera guys. One's a former Space Nazi and the other
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: is a handso solo type. Yes, John Finn slash po
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: it is indeed. Yeah, from the sequel series. I love
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: these guys. It's your classic happy go Lucky slash Dark
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: and Stormy pairing. Twenty ten's teen dramas are now classics.
- 1:19:32Speaker 4: Yes, Ordra Styles slash Derek.
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: Yes, I didn't even need to say yeah, it is
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: teen Wolf.
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: Oh oh, they still have a character named Styles. I
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: never saw the series.
- 1:19:43Speaker 4: Oh, I shipped it well. I shipped that one. I
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: was more of a Scott and Isaac shipper. But it's fine.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: We'll do a teen Wolf episode next week next year.
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: Don't worry. Don't worry.
- 1:19:52Speaker 4: You're mileage may Vary.
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: I love these guys. I'm a killer.
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: Not so much their writer at the moment, though. Another
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: Happy Go Lucky slash Dark and Stormy pairing, but this
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: time a true classic because they're both celestial beings from
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: thousands of years ago. I just sound like Vince McMahon.
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: Now, yeah, I was thinking that.
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: They've got a lot of similarities those two. They any
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: ideas for this one maybe?
- 1:20:22Speaker 4: But celestial.
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: What's the other guy's name?
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: Boobs?
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: Yes, John, I had boobes.
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: I'm oh No, I was thinking big and conceptually, so
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: I was thinking celestial beings. But uh, the sun and
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: the moon, I slash the moon. I like it.
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: I even ignored that you didn't do the proper formatting.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: But yes, I love that as an answer. It's not correct.
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: That's that's the best incorrect answer we've had.
- 1:20:53Speaker 5: I probably is some fan fiction.
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: Oh yeah, okay, we're gonna pas this one. It's a
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: Crowley and zero fail.
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: All I could remember was a zero fail. I could
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: remember Crowley's name.
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: There we go from from good omens. I love these guys,
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: but not as a pairing, because they're real people from
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: a boy band. I think slash Vik is cool and
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: all when it's people scary.
- 1:21:20Speaker 4: Yes, I can't remember which ones Harry, Yeah, Slash, I
- 1:21:29Speaker 4: know that one.
- 1:21:30Speaker 5: Yeah, the other one, Lee Zay Liam.
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: Oh, that's not what I've That's not what I've got
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: down here.
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: I don't know the other one, Yes, John, Harry, Slash
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: then what was it that she almost said?
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: Zay, No, it's not it was, but with apparently it's
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: not the top pairing from this fandom. I understand that
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: there might be people who are more passionate about Harry
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: and Zane and Harry and Liam, but I was looking
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: for Harry and Louis.
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: Yes, I do remember seeing that a lot.
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: I don't know a single thing about them.
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: Yeah, members of One Direction. It's stranger because they're real people.
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: I love these guys. They're also real, but they're older
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: and both back on TV again, so it's okay. One
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: used to be daily but is now weekly. And the
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: Oats Yes, John.
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: John Stewart slash Stephen Colbert it.
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: Is indeed, yes, who I didn't know that was one.
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: I'll be reading all of them. Oh yeah, and quick
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: before the buzzer.
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: Oh, I really love these guys. You know. I'm in
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: the movie title and I wanted it to be X. Yes,
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: John Freddy slash Jason it is, And that's the buzzer.
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: I don't think we did enough.
- 1:22:51Speaker 5: Oh man, I was bad at that. I think so
- 1:22:57Speaker 5: much fanfic right fixed.
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: I think everyone got a good amount of answers that yeah,
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: huh it's good stuff. Okay, But before we get to
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: the final scores that are extremely close, I'd like to
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: thank our players. You've all been killer, seriously killer John, Ben,
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: thanks so much as always for playing, especially Ben on
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: such short notice as well, Peak Peak behind the Curtain.
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: Yeah I have done right, especially Ben. He couldn't remember
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: Merlin or Crowley.
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember the tougher name right well. Look once again,
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: congratulations on space Oddity's three. Thank you getting fully backed
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: and funded. When will issues be available? Maybe what should
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: this space before?
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: Actually? Tell you?
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: Tell me what would be the best thing to promote
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: at the moment.
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: I mean the kickstarter technically we are accepting late pledges still,
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: like if you want to go we book like the
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: some of the fancier, more involved tears are not open anymore,
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: but if you want to grab the book you can.
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: We were looking to ship everything out in December, so
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: you'll have it before the end of the year. You'd
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: read it to your family on Christmas.
- 1:24:12Speaker 4: Morning, Oh my god, please do.
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: Or if you want to read the first two you
- 1:24:17Speaker 3: can you know, pick them up from us on our website,
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: or go to like drive through Comics and buy a
- 1:24:21Speaker 3: digital copy.
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: Yeah, catch up on the Space Audities series one, two,
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: three of six is the.

- 1:24:44Speaker 3: out soon because we're given our thoughts on it. It's
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: not completely dormant.
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: Yeah, we're just we're just moving slowly.
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: Yeah, focus doing cool things like making comics. Yeah, nice,
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: lovely stuff and Aaron, thanks so much for joining us.
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: How was your first time on gate Leapers?
- 1:25:05Speaker 5: This was so much fun? Seriously, this was so much fun.
- 1:25:08Speaker 5: I want to come back so absolutely. We love people,
- 1:25:11Speaker 5: We love fandoms absolutely. Oh yeah, you are the host
- 1:25:14Speaker 5: of the podcast. It's a fandom thing. Would you like
- 1:25:16Speaker 5: to tell our listeners a little bit about that? Yes,
- 1:25:19Speaker 5: So we cover all things fandom and pop culture, primarily
- 1:25:22Speaker 5: from the female perspective, but we have other guests on
- 1:25:25Speaker 5: as well. We're doing Horror Month right now, and so
- 1:25:31Speaker 5: we are going to be as far as Slashers. We
- 1:25:33Speaker 5: are going to be talking about Wes Craven's New Nightmare,
- 1:25:37Speaker 5: talking about that soon, which I think is one of
- 1:25:40Speaker 5: the absolute best in the series. Absolutely fantastic film. And
- 1:25:44Speaker 5: we're also going to be talking about Interview with the
- 1:25:46Speaker 5: Vampire is already going to be out by the time
- 1:25:48Speaker 5: this drops, and the movie and then Sixth Sense Stir
- 1:25:54Speaker 5: of Echos and then Blair Witch Project.
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: Oh fantastic. Yes, well it's great lineup.
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:26:02Speaker 5: Yeah, so we just we cover everything you can possibly imagine.
- 1:26:05Speaker 5: So yeah, and you can find us wherever you're listening
- 1:26:07Speaker 5: to this.
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: Yeah, do you check out it's a fandom thing. I
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: will put links in the show notes. It's your website
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: and to where people can people can listen. And also
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: you're doing Halloween Trivia live streams during the month of October,
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: and I believe the day this episode comes out is
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: also the same day that On that evening, Audra and
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: I will be on one of your live streams desperately
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: trying to win at trivia.
- 1:26:32Speaker 5: Yes, we're doing four nights. We would have already done
- 1:26:35Speaker 5: the Slashers when we're kicking it off with Slashers on Saturday,
- 1:26:39Speaker 5: October fifth, so that would have already happened. But you
- 1:26:41Speaker 5: can go to our YouTube channel and watch them. It
- 1:26:43Speaker 5: should be still a ton of fun. And then we
- 1:26:45Speaker 5: would have already done Monsters. And then the night that
- 1:26:48Speaker 5: you're going to be on is Thursday, October seventeenth at
- 1:26:53Speaker 5: six thirty Mountain Standard time, and that's going to be
- 1:26:56Speaker 5: Women in Horror. So and while we're doing it is
- 1:26:59Speaker 5: we're like, our players are going to make little videos
- 1:27:05Speaker 5: appealing to our Patreon subscribers why they think they will
- 1:27:08Speaker 5: win that night. Then our Patreon subscribers are going to
- 1:27:10Speaker 5: choose their player and kind of get their points and stuff.
- 1:27:13Speaker 5: So we're doing it a fun, little interesting way, and
- 1:27:16Speaker 5: we're going to have night prizes for that night too.
- 1:27:19Speaker 5: So yeah, so that's on our YouTube channel. Yeah. So
- 1:27:23Speaker 5: it's a ton of fun. We've done it. We didn't
- 1:27:24Speaker 5: do it last year because of the strikes, but we've
- 1:27:27Speaker 5: been doing it every year. Nice, a lot of fun.
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: Yeah, super looking forward to being a part of that.
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: Yeah, excited to have you on.
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: We love trivia and yeah, if you're a gate Leapers
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: listener and you want to see Audro and I do
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: some trivia in a different format, I will put the
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: link to the live stream in the show notes. If
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: you're listening on the day. If you're listening after the fact,
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: check out the YouTube replay. As Aaron says, yes.
- 1:27:48Speaker 5: Yes, and we do trivia constantly throughout. We're going to
- 1:27:52Speaker 5: do a Finwit Rock Trivia night also the actor in
- 1:27:56Speaker 5: October as well. We do a Christian Efing Bail Night
- 1:28:00Speaker 5: trivia every January. He's our unofficial mascot's past mascot, so
- 1:28:05Speaker 5: we celebrate him every January, so.
- 1:28:08Speaker 4: As you should.
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: Yes, oh brilliant. Well, thanks one last time, Eron, Thanks
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: so much for joining us. You're a fantastic player, and yeah,
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: do support our players. Check out the links in the
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: show notes. And just a quick huge thank you to
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: Ash and Adam, just In Dodberg, Aaron Randolph, and Derek
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: and Taylor for their continued support at the highest tier
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: over at patreon dot com Forward slash Gates Leapers. You
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: are our executive producers, so if you feel like rebooting
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: us at any point, that's your call to make. Okay,
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: let's get to those final scores. Look, I don't know
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: if this is in the spirit of Halloween. I feel
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: like I need to come up with some kind of
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: tie breaker because it's a tie. It's eighteen points apiece. Awesome,
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: I'll take it.
- 1:28:54Speaker 3: It feels like everyone if only I could have remembered Crowley.
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it's the opposite of the spirit of Halloween.
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: I feel for everyone to want.
- 1:29:08Speaker 4: To get out of the house.
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: It's exactly what we got at the end of Freddy
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: versus Jason. Remember being pissed about that.
- 1:29:17Speaker 2: Yeah, audience is lost.
- 1:29:20Speaker 4: I like it a little static there.
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: Wow, that's Freddy coming through though.
- 1:29:28Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: All right, Actually, before the podcast demon takes over, I'm
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: just going to read the outro copy. We have been

- 1:30:09Speaker 1: all afraid of the same things. That's why horror is
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: such a powerful genre. Okay, John, I have a fear
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: of long words aka hippopotter, monstrous esca pippadiliaphobia. So make
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: a film about that. Wait, I'm cured. Goodbye.
