Shamus: For for some of you guys who don't know Miss Carly, awesome chick. She actually did the catering for the wake at my father's and my mother's. and she was very instrumental helping our family get through all that because she was really good, she was really good friends with my mom. we did date years ago, and even after We broke up, she still stayed in contact with my mom and all that stuff. But her food is amazing. there's not too many venues she can handle. I don't want to speak for her, so if you have any questions, you can give her a call. But like I said, the food's amazing. She's a great person and give her a shot, man. Yeah. Herbie: Get it, Carly? Shamus: And I'm not saying she's gonna give you a discount, but if you mention the boys from P Rex, she might hook you up. So Herbie: Yeah, I gotta have her come around, man. Shamus: Yeah, well, we're gonna have her on because she she not only does catering. She also I don't she does something at a golf course that's like not like a groundskeeper or something like that, but she's like an organizer that does all day. I don't want to put any word I have no idea exactly what it is, but she's definitely like on the corporate end of like golf stuff at some country club. So we're gonna probably gonna have her come in and talk about the catering stuff and the golf thing. As soon as we go to video. So yeah, give give her a shout, man. She makes amazing food. So Herbie: cool. I got I got a friend too I wanna bring out too. my friend Jersey Gonzalez. She's been on TV and stuff like that. She's a personal chef for some of the Eagles and she's a friend of mine and she actually agreed to do an interview with us too. Man, so it'd be cool to actually have all these cool Shamus: That's like I said, everybody's like, Yeah, well come on, but not in the summer. Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: We're like, yeah, well we don't want to do this shit in the summer either. But we've got fans to answer to. Yeah, all four of Herbie: Yeah, but it's really great that the the the fact that we asked them to like do an interview, they're already down for it. It's awesome. Absolutely. Shamus: absolutely. Absolutely. Herbie: I mean I I appreciate that. It's awesome. Shamus: So also want to give a big shout out to Dad's Pub and Grill over what's that, Lumberton, right off the thirty eight? Herbie: I yeah, I guess yeah, I guess Mount H I Mount Howard. Shamus: Yeah. me and Herbie were up in there Thursday night. Yeah. with Miss Kim. who was it? It was open night open mic night with somebody. Yeah. So but they were they were getting it a little Herbie: Cool band, man. It open open Mike and the dude had a sacks. Shamus: Yeah. Yeah, that was the first time I've seen a saxophone. Made me want to get up and get behind that drum set, but my man was getting it, so I was like, Yeah. Herbie: Yeah, it did a great job. Shamus: Yeah, that was a good night, man. That was a good time. I thought you were gonna walk away with that waitress, but Herbie: no I'm too old for that. Shamus: Yeah. Never too old, brother. Never too old. Herbie: But it was nice though that you guys came out. Like it basically celebrated my birthday and it was a Seamus' treat and you know. Shamus: Yeah, I was just gonna say, happy belated birthday from all of us here at the P Rec. Thanks. And the Pork Roll Street team. So what'd you do with your day? 'Cause I asked you to go out and you're like, yeah. I'm gonna I'm gonna hang at home with mom. I couldn't argue with that. Herbie: No, yeah, pretty yeah Yeah, I was like hanging out with mom 'cause you know, you're like at eight o'clock at night you were born and you were the most beautiful baby whole world. You know what I mean? So it's just nice to actually s you know, spend time with my mom. Shamus: Yeah, 'cause there were some other people like, What what do mean he stayed home and I like, he's hanging with his mom? And they like, Because everybody knows you and the relationship you have with your mom's are like We'll give it, we'll let him have it. Herbie: Yeah. Like mama comes first, man. You know, just you know you know, because like there's a lot of times like she doesn't see me for like weeks at a time where I'm going out on Herbie adventures. You know, so Shamus: I I always tell people too, your birthday's special to you, but it's also special to your mom because like I mean obviously she went through all that to to get you here. So yeah, th it was always a special day for my mom too. So what do you mean? I mean, I know what you mean, but I mean like how does it work? Herbie: I almost died when I was a baby. I felt like I was born and I wasn't like for some reason, like I guess I wasn't breathing or something like that. And they were like, all right, look, you gotta they're like, you gotta like like tell my mom, like, you gotta keep on breathing because you gotta get oxygen through the system. And I was born. But the funniest thing too though is because like being that my mom's poor dick and my dad's white, it was like, you know, in the Bronx. So in the nursing room, it was almost like the baby Jesus. It was like this porcelain white baby where light shining out out of the way. You know what I mean? And it was all like, you know, it was like black and like like all the other colors except like this little white baby, which I I I felt bad too, because like when I was a kid, I looked like this little freaking German frickin' baby. So like there was like pictures of me like at the Bronx You like riding on elephants, which I still say elephants smell like goddamn band-aids. All right. If you ever notice like the like that brown part of the band-aid, it smells like elephants. So when I was a little kid, I actually thought that that was made out of elephant skin, which kind of freaked me out. But yeah, there was like there's so many pictures of me like as a little baby. I had like blonde hair and everything. And then like the Puerto Ricaness slowly started creeping in. My hair got darker. You know, even my my eye color changed. So I went from like German Aryan kid to Shamus: The Puerto Rican version of to Tino Puente. Herbie: Yeah man, it was cool. So I was like, all right, cool, man. But it was yeah. My mom always told me, like, my God, he's just he was like the I knew exactly who was mine because it now the thing you were you were the brightest little white baby in the whole world. And it's in the bronze too, so it's like, you know, the rest of the rest of my people are in there. It just it just looked like I really stood out, man. Shamus: Well the reason I started laughing when you said you were having problems breathing, the first thing I can picture was like you was a baby with the Herbie: yeah with the Darth Vader. You'd be like, it won't take off the Darth Vader helmet. And it's true though, man. But yeah. Shamus: That's awesome. So what'd you do with mommy? Just hang out the house? Herbie: Yeah, pretty much just hung out with her, just spend time with her. We're you know, we we had dinner and stuff like that. It was just it was just nice, just like relaxing, you know, and just enjoyed my day with her. Yeah, Shamus: Yeah, reflect back on another year. Herbie: well I didn't really do much reflecting. I was just like looking around, like make sure she's okay, 'cause, you know, of course she's getting up in years and it was just nice to hang out with her. And then, you know, we're you know, she made dinner and made breakfast and all that stuff and dad was doing his thing. And then I think he he left me like a case of beer, so that was cool. Shamus: Nice. Herbie: And then he came back, I think the day after and it was just nice to be able to, you know, hang at home. You know, 'cause I like for like a while I really didn't make a lot of big deal for like my birthday stuff. Except for like the fiftieth when, you know, the McWilliams clan and everybody else like it was huge. it was Shamus: Well if it is supposed to be a big one. Herbie: awesome. It was the best thing ever, dude. Shamus: So Herbie: yeah, it was nice. Shamus: Good. I actually ventured up to Evergreens that night. And finally got me one of them five hour Sundays they'd be putting on there. Herbie: Dude, they got a bunch of different ones too, man. It's all Shamus: Listen, they got one tonight. It's their marketing is great because they just take a picture and they're just like and they just whip up like this demand, like this frenzy of yeah, because I was like, Holy shit, I gotta go get one because it said tonight and tonight only. Yeah. The apple crisp Sunday. For five hours you get chunks of apple crisp inside vanilla ice cream, drizzled caramel over it with some whipped cream and a cherry, but it's only one night. All year. This is the only night you can get it. I was just kind of like, Man, I need to go get like twenty of those for me. I'm gonna take a hundred dollar bill pair, get them and put them in my freezer, bro. Herbie: No, it's all it's awesome. Like that that place is great too. A lot of times I'll go there 'cause I used to go to Red Line Inn for like random breakfast and stuff. But then I was I always drove by there and I was like I always want to check it out and I finally did and I love that place. And actually my friend that I went to elementary school and high school with, Debbie Nixon, she's the owner. So, you know, I maybe that should be like a Really? Yeah. Shamus: We see we can get her on. Herbie: Yeah. Actually, yeah, that would be cool. Shamus: She ain't coming in the summertime. If you'd have seen that line, I stood in. Golly. Herbie: Yeah. Yeah. But like you know, it'd be cool to have her to like on here to promote the shit, you know, her Shamus: It was definitely worth it though. If you talked to her, it's alright. I think I got the I forget what the special was that day. But it was banana, peanut butter, vanilla ice cream the Herbie: Yeah I did see that. Yeah. Shamus: chocolate. Yeah. I was just like, man, this shit Herbie: There really have like cause some cool stuff, especially like around this time. It's like and it's not far away for local people, so you just drive up there, get your ice cream off. It's only five. Shamus: Parking, it's awesome. Yeah, but of course, I was standing in line and somebody who was just like, first timer, and I was Yeah, right. Did you know not Chamelot shot a movie here? And I was kind of like, I do. And they're like, Your first time here, you knew that? I was like, Yeah, yeah. I was gonna if I had a sticker, I was gonna because there's like a bunch of stickers on the window, I was going. But I didn't have a sticker Herbie: Ya. Shamus: with me for the podcast. Actually, yeah, we're gonna have to do that before the other. Herbie: Yeah, well next time I go there just I'll get a couple and I'll give it to Debbie. And then actually I can, you know, I ask her to see if she wants to do it like an interview. It'd be cool. Mm-hmm. You know, 'cause like I said, we like promote local businesses and like especially like a good business like that, it's like it's a nice family business. Shamus: Now I need to get in there for breakfast. Maybe we could do that while you're off this week. I've never, because when we went in there, it was because they only do breakfast and lunch. Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: So but yeah, that place was packed. It was a good vibe, man. Kids were out there playing, like they got all the board games at the table and stuff. Like me and my lady friend were playing Connect 4 while we were there. Let me rephrase that. A friend of mine who's a female, because you know I'm done. Yeah. Professionals and cold showers. That's it. But we were playing Connect 4 at the table. The table across from us had like two dogs there and they had like the dog bowls with like they have dog ice cream or something and stuff like that. It w it was a cool vibe, man. So I'm definitely going back. I'm I just like I said I might go get me one of them up Christings tonight. But Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: yeah, that was a cool vibe. And then Sunday I was cleaning the house, got up early, started cleaning the house, getting everything done, and about 845, my buddy texted me and he was like, Bro, I'm on a roof doing a tear-off, and I need people. He was like apparently when they went, they ripped the roof off, yeah. They didn't realize it was cedar shake underneath. I don't if you know what cedar shake is. and that had totally come off, which means It was ten times work than they thought and he didn't have a ground guy. He was like, I just need somebody to come out here and clean this shit up as we throw it around. Yeah. He was like, Or we're gonna be here until Tuesday and I gotta work Monday and I said, Herbie: Ha ha ha. Shamus: Man and the guy has done a matter of fact, it's our buddy Joe who did the wrestling pop. Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: so I was and he just helped a friend of mine, my friend Meg, our mutual friend Meg, fixed a leak on her roof before it down poured on set 'cause that was another thing. Golly it rained here. I don't know about Vincentown, but here it on soon. so I couldn't leave him in the lurch man, so I went over there and helped him out with that. So we couldn't get a pod in yesterday. Yeah. Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: I'm sure I'm sure everybody listening will understand that. Herbie: Every once in a while guys like we gotta do some adulting stuff. So like you know, it it's very cool that, you know, if when we release on Mondays, we don't do a Monday. It's adulting. Shamus: Well, not only that, this poor lady, it was and I don't know if you're familiar with roofs, but it was like three square. It was like from that wall to that wall. Yeah. About this width. Yeah. And dudes who look at an old lady and go, I'm gonna take advantage. Like they were like eight grand, nine grand. Really? Yeah. And my buddy like works with her at a summer camp. And apparently she's a really nice lady. She every summer camp probably has one where all the kids know her, love her, the staff love her, you know, that kind of deal. And my buddy was like Let me go take 'cause that's what he did before he was a teacher. he got up here, he was like, Man, give me like twenty five. I'll do it for twenty you know, you're a friend of mine and stuff. So like guys like that, I always try to help out because he's not robbing anybody, he's not ripping he's trying to help other he's a good dude too. Herbie: And doing a good job on that. Shamus: Yes, and doing a great job. So like I said, man. Had to go help him out, couldn't leave him in alerts 'cause he's done so much for me, him and his brother Pat. So and we're gonna have them back on. One thing I did talk about was when we go to video, I W I was so disappointed that Pat wasn't on when Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: Joe was on. Because listen, we were talking about we were talking about wrestling yesterday and I was just like, Man, this is what we meant. Like it was a great pod. It was a great episode. But it could have been ten times better if Pat was on. So I talked him into both coming back for the video part. And I might have talked him into dressing as their favorite wrestler and all that stuff. Because Joe was like, I'll do that, but we gotta dress for the kiss episode. And I was like, no doubt. Herbie: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Shamus: That's coming too. But yeah, that's why this episode is late. And a shout out to Joe and his brother Pat for helping I forget her name, but helping that lady out and saving her a ton of money and not getting robbed. Yeah. So And it's amazing how dirty you get when you're the ground guy. Holy Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: moly. When I pulled up here, my neighbor was just like, Can I help you? I was like, What's up, man? He was like, I didn't recognize you with all that soot all over you and all that stuff. Herbie: But like, are you a chimney sweeper? Shamus: That's exactly what I look like because my god. But we got it done. The roof is done. So that was my weekend. And then I had to go see my doctor this morning, do a follow up on my my blood pressure and all that stuff. Everything's good? We're all good. So what are you playing on? You're off this week, so what are you planning on? Herbie: Nice. So do a whole bunch of carouac and stuff. Like I'm like I wanna I wanna put the boat in, put the kayak in, buy some more shit I really don't need, but I won't. Do some stupid yard work. And just you know, just enjoy enjoy my time off, man. Literally like sleep in. And that's it. Just like just live spontaneously and drink bow light limes with Lord Sheamus, man, and do some potting. Shamus: yeah. Do you enjoy doing yard work? Herbie: I mean, I do it I enjoy it after the fact when I see like the results. 'Cause a lot of times I just I almost like kind of like when I'm in work mode, I just don't even think about it. And I just like keep going, you know? It's like and then I see after the work, I'm like, all right, that looks good. You know, it's cleaned up. All the, you know, I poison ivy and all this stuff 'cause like it's sometimes like grows along the side of the house. And also I see the lantern flies are coming back, which I'm really super hyped up about. they're Shamus: god, I totally forgot all about Herbie: still there, man. And I got my bug assault gun so I can skeet shoot those son of bitches. And they're right at the stage too. They're they're like, you know, that they're at the second stage. The third stage is like the best skeet shooting. Cause that's the one when they fly and when you shoot with that bug assault gun, they literally just pff It's beautiful. Shamus: Okay. Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: I didn't realize there was different stages. Remember Herbie: yeah, there's three stages. Shamus: everybody's like they're gonna eat all the trees. Kill them all. Herbie: I mean they were all Yeah, they really were all over the place. You know what it is too, 'cause like I think a lot of like the wildlife the coloring on the the wildlife did not want to eat 'cause they thought they were poisonous. Yeah. Shamus: Yeah. Herbie: After me shooting with a bugasalt gun and I seized them with salt and there were sparks all over the place, the ants and birds and everybody else was like, Yeah, we can eat these things. Yeah, Shamus: Yeah. That's crazy. Herbie: but they do. They like Shamus: It's a it's a funny how nature kind of adjusts itself. Yeah, yeah. So I think it was on Brett's Pod. Shout out to Booze and Tattoos. I think they said when they were down in Texas, they were saying don't step and I've heard this before 'cause I've been to Texas, been down to Fort Hood They were saying that you never step on a cockroach down there. Because when one of those go Yeah. And they spread out everywhere else. No, the other cockroaches like eat And apparently they like cockroaches so much, like they're cannibals like that, they'll come running. So, like Jesus. If you step on one, like say I step on one outside and then come into my house and I still got a little bit on my shoes, they'll do everything they can to get into the house and because they smell it on your shoes and stuff like that. So I was just kind of like, man, these and like I'm listening to them talk. I forget what episode it was. But I was listening to them talk about it and I like, Yeah, that's right. They did tell us that in Fort Hood. Don't like don't step on the cockroaches and stuff like it. It's just crazy, right? You just I was like what if I do it all the way to the airport and they get on the plane? Are they gonna jump the next flight? Are they coming to get me? Herbie: be the next movie cockroaches on the plane. How great is that? Like and one guy in the back has the bug assault gun. I just need salt. Shamus: Exact Herbie: I love those things. Shamus: as you cock it or just baggage. Herbie: That's right. That's a one movie I can star in, man. It'd be cool. Yeah. yeah. Shamus: We'll write the script. But that's where my mind goes when I hear shit like that. So but I I I actually enjoy doing yard work, man. Like you said, I love actually when I went to the d cause my family doctor's still in Riverside. So I went past the old the old house this morning. And it's I'm one of those guys that I weed the cra like all the curb lines clean, like everything. dude. It is so overgrown there. I was just gonna stop the car and open like knock on the door. And whoever opened it, I was just gonna be like and Herbie: Just pumped. Shamus: just get back in my car and leave. I was so hurt. I know. Herbie: Like one of those hand edgers, so that thing is just like Jesus Christ. I gotta get like you know the electric powered one. Yeah, I like an edge it better. Shamus: Yeah. I love how like on the concrete it looks like, you know, a buzz cut kind of deal. Yeah, I love that. Herbie: Yeah, 'cause sometimes you get like that weird crab grass shit. Yeah, I you could tell like you know how you're getting older when you're talking about cutting grass. Shamus: Well I always just like the way I cause I always did my mom's and I did my house in Blanco when I bought it. And it's like I said, it's the Yeah. Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: When people drive by they're always like, Man, that shit is nice. It looks good. yeah, so then I step out of it and they're like, golly. Herbie: When you get out the age, man, everyone's like, you know, it's either like, you know, how your lawn looks, how the decorations for every holiday and all that shit. But yeah, it's it's a real thing, man. At at our age. Shamus: Yeah, it's like I said, I put my headphones on. I'm gonna do it tomorrow. I gotta cut the grass tomorrow. I my headphones on, just let it rip, man. Yeah. Pull back on that cord in the lawnmower and I'm off. I do a lot of thinking when I'm out there too. Yeah. So yep. Herbie: Soul searching and stuff like that. Shamus: yeah. It's like I said this summer, like job job transition and all that stuff. I don't know where I'm gonna be in September. I don't know if I'm doing the school cop thing anymore. I just don't. But like I said, man, that kind of takes me back like Not takes me back, but it transport me to a different place where I can kind of clear my head and just figure out what I'm gonna do, man. Put a project together or just yeah, I get to clear my head a little bit and figure some stuff out while I'm out there. Herbie: It's almost like you know putting things in order, you know, like it's like even outside of the house, there's people that do stuff inside the house. When they start cleaning it almost feels like it's almost like a Zen state where you just everyone's out of their way. You wanna clean the kitchen or clean like whatever part of the house or start doing all that stuff 'cause and then when you're done it you just feel better. You know what I mean? It's like you Shamus: It's also a weird, weird thing because by the end of the summer and it's probably not just me, but everybody's like This shit again. Like it's October. I'm still cutting the grass. What the fuck? but then when like March and April start coming around, you're man, I can't wait to get that mower out. Yeah. Can't like, especially after this last winter. So yeah, and then you know, women are like, it's spring cleaning. Everybody opens the windows in the house that first real nice day, they start cleaning and stuff. So it's almost like we're on some kind of internal clock or alarm or something. Like, spring, everybody's got to clean the house. Get the lawnmowers out and start sharpening blades and getting everything ready. Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: No. Herbie: start buying some new equipment. You're like, I could use this. I don't really need this equipment. I bought a sickle. I'm like, what am I, the Grim Reaper? It's all yeah Yeah, I know. I keep buying weapons. Shamus: Just men being men. I did that's another thing I did this weekend was cleaning out my garage and I'm looking at some of the set and I'm like, Do I really need an industrial 'cause I have like a five thousand dollar welder in my garage and it's got like a generator attached to it. So you can take it anywhere and it'll fire up. Like they use that for like the Ticoni Pomaier bridge shit. Yeah. I didn't see it in my garage and I'm like, Do I really need that? Yes. Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: Cause I got that sixty seven Ford F three fifty out there that has no floor in it. Herbie: That thing is badass dude. I can't wait till that thing. Shamus: I'm definitely gonna have to weld it up, but I was just thinking to myself, I'm like, Man, do I really need that? Yeah, I need it. Herbie: I swear to God, I wanna ride in that thing with you, but I wanna in the back truck, man. I'm in the back part of it, man. Shamus: Bro, I drove that shit down the street the other day and people talks, everybody just running. Herbie: Yep. I think that's Dude, Shamus: It was just like Herbie: actually you should like get like a like like what is almost like the paint like you know teeth in the front of the fenders and shut. Shamus: With the deathmobile across the front like that movie Animal House. Herbie: Yeah! Exactly! Dude, how badass would that be? Shamus: Yeah, that thing when I fired it up the other day and took it down the road, man, I was like when I got out of it, it's almost like drive like when you get in one of them old wooden roll coasters and your body's all beat up and you're still shaking. Herbie: yeah. Shamus: I was like, holy moly. Herbie: is the fucking what the hell is the one in like Rolling Thunder and Great Adventure. Yes. I still love that thing. I mean it's old ash. Shamus: Is it still there? Herbie: I don't know. Probably is, maybe not, I'm not sure. Shamus: What was the one in Busch Gardens? It was like the biggest wooden world coaster on the I don't know. Herbie: No, I just remember like the one in the the Griswold movie, like, you know, National Lampoons, like that one, that was like humongous. Shamus: Yeah, I just man, I remember them old wooden world cars used to beat the shit out of you. And that's how it is driving in that thing, man. You just like your hands way up here. It's almost like an eight-panger on a motorcycle because the shifter's that high. And you're just kinda like, driving on the road. It's insane. I almost tore my shoulder out trying to get it in the second. Herbie: It all seems like, you know, I don't know like back in the day I didn't really hear too many accidents about those old roller coasters compared to the new ones. You know what I mean? Shamus: seems to be a lot of that go like maybe not just accents but just like malfunctions where people are stuck for like an hour or two. Yeah. Herbie: my god, upside down or some shit. Shamus: Like Amanda just said Amanda's a listener from Tampa. She just told me she was texting me what I'm I'm sure she was texting you too. Yeah. She offered to buy some stuff for the set. Cool. Herbie: Yeah, which is cool. Shamus: Yeah which is awesome. Thank you. Herbie: The one thing one thing she actually offered me too, I like, I'm I'm I'm still interested. I'm like, that's pretty cool. Shamus: Okay. Yeah. yeah, but as we were Texan, I was just like, Well, you know, I'll I don't wanna hold you up if you're at Disney World. Yeah. You know, enjoy your time. And she was like, Yeah, we're actually stuck on a ride. We've been here for like forty five minutes. Wow. apparently it was one of those ones that was inside. Mm-hmm. So they were in air conditioned, so they were okay. But yeah, they were actually stuck on a ride for like forty five well sh I think she said it was like an hour fifteen when it was all said and done. And then There was another one just recently up at Great Adventure, like the big swing thing that goes like a hundred feet in the air. Yeah. Like those people got stuck up there for like an hour. Wow. So I don't know if I could just hang in a swing seat for hour. yeah. Well I mean just my I got no ass left anymore. So sitting in that chair. Yeah. Herbie: that's gonna suck. Shamus: Well I went to Evergreen's the other night. We were sitting on them wood benches, man. I got up and I was like, man. All them years of you know, running and jumping over the hoods of cars and Herbie: yeah. Shamus: your butt or you know, sitting on concrete or, you know, doing stuff in a patrol car or blah dah da or Hum Vs and not just wore my ass completely off. Like I ain't got nothing but bone back there anymore. Herbie: Like moving around and stuff, dude. Like, there's sometimes like the remote control like falls underneath the couch. I'm like, I just buy another one on Amazon. I'm like, I'm not getting down there. I'm just like, no way. There's like five of them down there. Yep. Shamus: It's crazy. Herbie: Universal remote. Get it today by five. Yep, there it is. Send the batteries too. Cause like, yeah, I'm like, no, I'm not, I can't crawl underneath there anymore. And I used to like crazy dumb shit. I used to be on. Top of ruse with a grappling hook and a ninja suit. I s real story. Shamus: Well, I was shocked this morning because I was like when he called me or he texted me yesterday said you needed help, I was like, Man, that kinda threw my whole week off. Because after I cleaned the house, I was gonna go to the gym and I was gonna go to the gym today. But not only was I the ground guy, but I was running bundles of shingles up a two story ladder. And there was about ten bundles and then some frost stuff we had to get up there. frost barrier things and all that stuff and the tar paper and I was doing all that and when I got done I was just kinda like man when I wake up tomorrow it's gonna be I'm paying for this. Wasn't that bad. I was shocked. I was really shocked this morning. I was like man I must be in really good shape or at least decent shape at forty nine years old to be able to do that and just kinda I could have gone to the gym this morning but I was like no we need to recover a little bit. My ass still hurts more from the Evergreens thing than any of the shit I did at the roofing. So I was like, Yeah. So that wasn't too bad. I I'm still pretty bendable. Yeah. Sometimes when I bend over though, I gotta take it real slow. Yeah. Kinda. Or I stick the one leg way out. I Herbie: Well, I Shamus: get the teeter thing going. Herbie: was like trying to find like my fuel filter on my Jeep and I had to crawl underneath the Jeep and I was trying to just get back. I was like Gotta like do a tripod just to try to get back up. I'm like, Jesus Christ. Thank God there's no zombie apocalypse because I'm gonna die first day. I think I'm gonna do all right, but them fast went Shamus: You got all that goddamn weapons at your house. speaking of weapons. Yeah. Do you see that Supreme Court passed all that stuff against New Jersey? No. I meant to tell you, so I know you said you're interested in buying some firearms. Yeah. apparently the communist state of New Jersey has all these laws against semi automatic weapons. You can only have there's certain things on an AR that have to make it Jersey compliant. Right. I can't have a a flash suppressor on the front. you can't have a foldable stock, like you can only have a 10-round clip, it can only be a single round kind of deal. And it's been like that for a while. apparently the NRA stepped in and they've been fighting a good fight for a while, and then all of a sudden the Supreme Court was like, You're absolutely right. All that shit New Jersey's been telling you guys is bullshit. It's against the it it violates the Second Amendment rights of all residents in New Jersey, and you don't have to do that anymore. And I was just kind of like, Holy smokes. Wow. And I guarantee every guy who owns a gun store in this this state is just I mean it's gonna take a while because New Jersey's gonna appeal. I think Trump stepped in and said, you know, if they appeal it, just you shouldn't even hear it again. You should just go, yeah, appeal denied. we'll see how it goes. But I guarantee every gun store owner was just kind of like ching. And Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: everybody who wants one's gonna be like, Yep, I'm working overtime, I'm doing whatever it takes. Or Like I have one that's jersey compliant, so I'm just gonna take it to my uncle over in Pennsylvania because he's a gunsmith He's gonna hook it up the way I want, put the flush sparts or like the bayonet thing on the front and all this up once it once it the appeals are heard. But yeah, that is a huge, huge deal for New Jersey. 'Cause I was like, even if you're law enforcement, you mean to tell me I can only have I've been to parts of the world, dude, where people aren't so friendly. Yeah. And we had like 30 round clips like the banana clips and all that stuff like that. And that's what we needed. Yeah. And then like I come home and they're just like, Yeah, you're you're not capable of carrying that. Are you fucking serious? You're gonna tell me and like everybody I served with and da da da who live in New Jersey that we are not capable of I don't get it. I I get I know what they're saying, they're blanketing it so everybody's on the same plumbing field I mean the bad guys are gonna Herbie: Yeah, they just go around the bad guys gonna have a lot more bulls than everybody else. Shamus: They're not gonna have thirty round magazines, they're gonna have as many goddamn Herbie: Good guys get ten rounds and the bad guys. Shamus: Yeah, I think lot of dude, I fucking hate that's why we don't talk politics on the show 'cause I hate politicians. So But yeah, but now once that passes, dude, you can buy like a lot of really cool shit. So Herbie: They gotta have lightsabers now too, man. That'd be cool. So wait for that shit. Shamus: Well see, I don't now another thing I don't get about this state, you mentioned it before in the last podcast, I believe, is how the hell can somebody buy a gun and you can't buy a wrist rocket? Yeah. Why not just make it the same kind of thing for you know, you have to show idea like here, I'm you have to be like twenty one years old to buy a wrist rocket. Herbie: Yeah, what if you want to shoot beer cans? I'm Shamus: Yeah. Herbie: like, come on. Shamus: Like I don't understand why you can't buy wrist rocket or there's there's other stuff too. Yeah. Who the hell was I talking to this weekend? Somebody was they wanted to buy something. And he's like, Well I just use my buddy's address in Philadelphia. We ship it there and then he ships it he gives it to me. So Herbie: Now we won't do that. Shamus: no, no. But I was just kinda like well, I there's nothing I've ever wanted besides I mean I I've got a a stash of thirty round magazines I had when I left the military. Yeah. Yeah. Because as a law enforcement officer, if I had got caught with that shit, it would be the end of my career. Yeah. but now that they're because he actually he's the one that told me about it because he's a gun nut. And he was just kind of like, you want your 30 round magazines back? And I was just like, let's wait for the appeal to deal. But I never had to buy anything that was illegal. So I just don't understand why certain things are like wrist rockets and bear spray or I don't don't know. Herbie: No, but like if it's you know, if they say no then I'm fine with it. I think it sucks. It's like whatever. So it's just I'm not you know, I'm you know me, I'm not that guy to like try to stir the pot and try to do something, you know, whatever. I'm like, yeah, I'm good. Don't need to do it then. Shamus: Well somebody's like, Well what if they use it against the police? A wrist rocket or bear spray? He shoot Herbie: Yeah that works. Shamus: We play the game I used to call I Win. Herbie: Yeah. And what happens at the end of I got their spray. I win. I win. Shamus: So but yeah, that was a huge thing in New Jersey this week too. also meant I I showed you the post meant to tell our listeners that the people at Taylor Ham sent Herbie: yeah yeah yeah. Shamus: us a big like. They like what we're doing. They reposted a couple of our episodes on Instagram. It was right after I put up our new cover thing with the two people on the Empire State Building with the black flag. It says eat pork roll, not Taylor Ham. Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: so that was pretty cool. A lot of people don't realize this though. And I think it was another thing I I heard on Brett's podcast, booze and tattoos. Make sure you give them listen. it's almost like diapers. Like a lot of people say, Go get me some pampers. Yeah. Or what else? There's band-aids, like you just said earlier. Band-aid's actually not that's a brand name. Yeah, it's for a bandage. Yeah. Pampers are diapers. Taylor Ham is actually pork roll. The name of the company is Taylor Ham. Yeah. So yeah, they gave us a big like. They like what we're doing. So hopefully they keep listening. It's always good to have Hell yeah. That going on because there's always this huge debate in New Jersey. Is it Taylor Ham or is it pork roll? Herbie: Yeah, they'll like it's it's just like there's gonna be like blood on the floor for that shit, man. Shamus: And then what I didn't realize was Taylor Ham is actually pork roll. And Brett brought that to my attention. So and like I said, it's just like anything else. So Herbie: Now so while everyone else is fighting for like the title, I'm gonna sit there with my sandwich with whatever pork roll or tailor ham in there with some egg and cheese on a Kaiser bun. Shamus: That's all them assholes from central Jersey that called teller him and Herbie: I don't know, it's like who cares, man? You know, it's just like that's like another thing too. I think like Jersey and Pennsylvania knows about Scrapple. No one else I don't think Scrapple's like a thing like outside of Jersey. Shamus: There's a lot of s there's a lot of stuff like that. tasty cakes like that. Herbie: yeah. Shamus: I was down in Georgia, I was like, yo, where can I get a a candy cake? And they're like, What the hell is I almost Herbie: cramp it. Shamus: like it's a peanut butter thing for tasty cake. Like, what the hell's tasty cake? Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: So my uncle used to own like two or three bars over in Philly. Yeah. but he also had a tasty cake route. Yeah. And I was like, Hey Ma, hit up Uncle I used to call him Uncle E. Yeah. his first name was Emory. I'm like, yo, hit up Uncle Lee. I need some boxes of tasty cake down here. Yeah. Show these Southern cats what's going on. And they were like, dude. I was like, Yeah, man. Tasty Cake's regional, Scrapple's regional. Here's a couple other things. Herbie: There's a bunch of shit, man, 'cause like even my buddy that was that's from Jersey, went down to like Tennessee, like he was also in the army. Every time I go down to visit, he's like, Send me tasty cakes and blah wa iced tea. Shit. That and s and pork roll. That was the shit. That was the care package. Shamus: Yeah, pork roll's another thing. You can't get a it is can't get a decent cheesesteak or a hoagie down there. Herbie: There's a Wawa back in Tennessee now though. Shamus: Baggels. a buddy of mine, listener to the show, used to live up here, Kevin. Yeah. the guy who almost got me almost killed me, smoking weed with him. He moved to Greenville, South Carolina, right outside of there. And he said there's this place called like South Philly Cheesesteaks or something. Yeah. And he walked and and I'll give him credit for this because when I was down in Georgia, there was a place called Philly Cheesesteak. And I walked in there, dude, and it was the worst. Like I think I walked outside and I still had half it left and there was like a newspaper vending machine. Somebody was buying a newspaper when he opened up the thing. I was just like, No, hold that for a second. Yeah, Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: just fired a cheesesteak in there and fucking flipped it up. Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: But he said apparently these two guys who own it moved down there, they're from South Philly and they have all their rolls like Ambarossa roll, all the bagels shipped from Philly because And I don't know how true this is, but apparently there's something in the water in New York and Philly where the bagels here are just better. Herbie: I think also the temperature and stuff too. Same Shamus: Yeah, I don't know what it is. Herbie: thing with like San Francisco, like there's like certain things with like certain breads there too that I mean it makes sense. I mean like you got even like in Italy and stuff like that, when they're making like certain types of cheeses, there's it's it's all climate, temperature, all that stuff, man. It's just the they have caves for like fucking blue cheese and shit. So it's you know. Shamus: Yeah, so apparently those guys are legit so he goes there all the time. That's Herbie: Good. Shamus: so yeah. Why are we stalling? I don't Herbie: know. That's just Bud Light Limes. But like seriously, like with the like scrapple and stuff like that, there's I don't I don't know what other foods I'm at. Like when I first got here like back in the day when Super Fresh was open in Lumberan, they actually had the mountain oysters. And that was bull testicles. And at first we're like what the f are these things? And they're like softball size. I was just like what the f And it was just like basically one package. So it was basically every time we went to Superfresh, it was always like to go back to check to see if that thing was still there. And of course it was still there. No one bought that shit, man. But it was just a huge package of fucking bull nuts. It's just like called mountain oysters. And yeah, they were goddamn mountain oysters. That's for goddamn sh Shamus: My dad used to eat all that shit, man. Ugh. Herbie: I don't really mind like too many organ meats, but it's just like that I'm not really gonna it is. Shamus: That's working. Herbie: I mean it's like you know, there's like eye like eyeballs, I'm like no. Shamus: No, no. Herbie: Lingua, like you know, for like tacos like like beer beef tacos. Shamus: I was just gonna say a buddy of mine loves cow tongue. Yeah. When it comes to his tacos. I'll tell Herbie: Yeah, I mean it's good. Shamus: you what, that same guy though, because my dad used to love liver and onion onions. yeah. the same guy who likes cow tongue used to take his liver and let it sit in buttermilk for like two or three days 'cause it draws all the iron out of it. Yeah. And then saute like do it like that. My dad said, Your buddy makes the biggest goddamn liver I've ever had. And I've eaten liver before and it's it's okay, but I was like, yeah, it's all Herbie: Yeah, Shamus: the same. Herbie: I'm not signing up for that, but like it actually like a lot of people that will eat it is like you know for the iron itself. But yeah, even bull testicles, nah. Eyeballs, nah. Brained, Shamus: No. Nah. Herbie: it's not like you know, Indiana Jones and all that stuff, like, a monkey brain. No, no, no. I'm good. I'm good. Shamus: I had I had goat brain over in the Middle East. You know how many people bring that shit up when I'm out now? Herbie: Do you ever think who are you? Do you ever think like like when when they when people that live there and like you know like soldiers and stuff come over to like, we're gonna make eat the weirdest shit and tell that it's like Shamus: Well to be honest with you, that's that's actually tradition over there. Like they eat goat brains over there. They eat I don't know if they pasteurized their goat Herbie: It's like us eating liver, like we'll eat it once in a great while, but they're like, the white the white Americans are coming over. Yeah, we gotta make eat looking drink goat piss in the middle of the Shamus: Well that's one of the things we did ask them like, go do they actually eat this shit or are they just putting us on? They're No, they actually this is like a delicate like So Well, I mean they're I'm not gonna get into that either. They're they're the only place on the planet and I think I posted on my Facebook earlier this year when we first started bombing Iran. Yeah. Where one of our missiles like dropped in this goat field and it didn't explode. It was just hanging out of the dirt. And it was like six hours later, there's like two or three Iranians like hanging off the side of it and they're taking pictures with it and shit. I'm like, Are you out of your mind? Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: People just standing in a field next to it. I'm like So those people they really need to get up on technology over there and you know, kind of assert themselves into educational programs. Yeah, don't I mean Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: but Jesus Christ, man, those people just don't Herbie: Well you know what, like as far as snacks, like like when you were a kid, like what was like some of your favorite snacks like when you were a kid? Shamus: I don't know man. It it depends on what I'm doing. If I'm watching a movie, it's gotta be popcorn. If it's football or something like that, it's chips, dip. like I said, I I'm big sweets guy, man, so I love ice cream. to be the the goat is her sour cream and onion. That is the goat potato. There's nobody fucking with it. Herbie: I used to love the Pringles too. Like when I was a kid I was like they were always more expensive and it just seemed like there was less potato chip. Shamus: That's because you were eating them like six, seven at a clip. Herbie: True, true, true. But it was like a little tube though. And like a bag a bag of chips looks like it was bigger. And it was just like these little Waffel thin fucking potato chips, you know what mean? I was like, Jesus Christ. And they were like more expensive. Shamus: Like the crepes. Yeah. Clintes and potato chips. Herbie: Bis ps. But I was like, what the shit man? But yeah, it w like are like the snacks that you liked like when you were like a little kid riding around on your bike, what was like your survival food? Shamus: it was always either sweetest goldfish or it was the sweet and sour watermelons. That's the only thing I ever Herbie: I forgot about those. Shamus: 'cause I always you always need energy, you know, sugar and stuff like that when you're a kid. So if you're on your bike and you knew you're going like five, ten miles to your buddy's house or whatever stuff, just load up on I was never the healthy kid, like we need trail mix. And so I was just like, Man, give me the sugar. Yeah. Herbie: Dude, I only think Trail Mix was even fucking invented. There was like those granola bars. Like the only ones that we'd actually eat eat back in the day was like the like the s'mores granola bars. Cause they had like the you know mush marshmallows and chocolate chips. But other than that. Shamus: Yeah. Yeah, that was pretty much my go to. That and gum. I'm a big gum guy, man. Herbie: Gatorade gum? Shamus: Yeah. Herbie: I don't know. You know, big lee chew, of course. Where like remember like the gum that came in cigarettes? And like, you have like the little powder in it so can like blow out so it looks like it's smoke. Yep. Yeah. Shamus: Speaking of getting the reason why I left, because we're in over in the Middle East, Gatorade sent us this whole pouch of that's when like Gatorade like the powder drink came out, like and and had like, you know, like the Maxwell House container. Yeah. They sent like a pouch over to all the troops. So we got like our allotment for the MPs and stuff. And when I got, like, there were just cans laying everywhere. So I picked up a can and I opened it. I guess somehow like moisture got inside when it left it. So it was just like this, it was like play-doh. I was just like, Herbie: Really? Shamus: dude. So we were just like grabbing clumps of it and sticking it in our face like it was dip. Like y'all. And we just get on a get on a bird or a Hum V and like wow. We're like spit. They're like, are you guys spit blood? Cause it was all fruit puts. Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: No, it's Gatorade, dude. They were like it was the weirdest consistency ever, bro. But like when you stuck it in your face, it would slowly dis it didn't just like evaporate, it would just slowly dissolve. And I was like, dude, this shit is better to dip, man. We were like Herbie: That's the one thing I like like I know like as a guy I'm not a big spit guy. So like the the dip thing and you gotta have a little bottle of fu that's another pet peeve for me. yes. Because Shamus: What's it? Yes. Herbie: everyone's using either like a wah wah bottle or some shit like that. They're spitting them like Shamus: Well, you know where chewing tobacco got to start, right? No. They started chewing it in the fields when they were, you know, harvesting it and stuff like that. Because when the tractors or the bulls went by, the horses pulling the thing, it would kick up all the dust, and then your mouth would get full. So they were chewing on it to, you know, spit all that stuff out. It would help you build up your saliva or whatever and spit it out. That's why in baseball, like on the hot days in summer, like back in the 1900s and 1920s and stuff. All those guys chewed because the dirt would fly around and da-da-da it would get in their mouth. So Herbie: Also the caffeine too. Shamus: most of the people, most of the troops in in the desert and stuff like that, that's why we were doing it. Like I was dipping that's probably the only place on the planet I've ever dipped before because it's 140 fucking degrees. You you don't want to smoke a cigarette because you'll I mean, so your mouse always kind of just like that dry cotton mouth feeling with I like you can actually sometimes feel like the grit on your teeth and shit. So like guys would just di and like I started dipping. But when we got that Gatorade shit in, I was just like, Wow, look at this. And I was just like pulled it out, it was like and I was like, dude, just stuck it in my face. I'm like, this shit is so man, yeah. Herbie: Did you ever want to eat play doh when you were a kid? Yeah, but it was just like Shamus: It just smelled weird. I don't we couldn't play with Plato in my house. My mom was absolutely you'd have thought Plato was the devil. Herbie: Well, I didn't have play-doh at my house either. Shamus: She didn't want that shit my sister's hair. She didn't want it on the furniture. Da da da. There was we I don't think we ever had a lick of play-doh in any residence Ann McKnight lived in. Herbie: Yeah, neither did I. But like I was at my friends' houses and shit like that. And used to be have like that what's like that play-doh machine where actually it was like a little press where you can make like looking like play-doh sandwiches and all that shit. And I was like Shamus: What was it, the Monster Factory too? Herbie: I think so, yeah. And there was also like the fucking like even like the old goddamn what was it, lip bombing and stuff back in the day. Smelled really good. I wanted to eat that shit, but it was just like Vaseline and whatever scent flavoring and all that crap. Shamus: Yeah, it was petroleum jelly. Yeah. And scent. Herbie: Some shit. I mean, even like the old ditto papers, cause even like shout out to Brett Live back in the day, cause me and him in high school always used to talk about like the ditto papers like Mrs. Page would give us. But like everyone would just sit there and smell that ditto paper. You know, like the ink. And some of it was like the worst prints ever, man. Shamus: I'll tell you what, another thing I I f I totally forgot about this smell after not working on the roof for twenty some years is when they dropped off the material and stuff and we opened it up, when shingles sit like out in the rain and in between that plastic I don't know what's in that plastic dude, but that shit just smells like straight raw fish. Herbie: Really? Yeah. Shamus: Yeah, and like so now you're putting it over your shoulder and you're walking up the l so like my whole face, like the whole right side of my face, my shoulder, my arm just felt like when I got home, I was just got those cats went fucking. When I walked in and they were just like, what is this? Herbie: It's something Shamus: Yeah, they like climbed up the side of my body And I would just get off me. I had to take the shirt off, throw it in the laundry room. They went after that. I ran up the steps. Herbie: See that's why there's always like some weird ass smells that like other animals detect or you know, crock pot soup. Mm-hmm. All these other scents, man. Yeah, it's not great. Shamus: And then tar paper itself is just No. So but yeah, that's how I knew. I was like, man, it does smell like fish a little bit when I walk in the door, them cats are like, that is fish, bro. Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: Let me get some of it. Get away from me. Herbie: Like what the hell is that made of? Shamus: I don't know what's in it. But apparently the two guys, Pat and Joe, are just like it either it smells like fish or it's eggs. So if it smells like eggs, it's gotta be something with sulfur. Yeah. I don't know what the egg part or the fish part of it is, but it yeah, man, it was Herbie: Smells like catfish. Like what the fuck is that? Shamus: I s on the way home from the doctor this morning. I don't know what's dead in the woods on Hartford Road, man, but I almost crashed my goddamn car. Herbie: really? Shamus: I was driving, all of a sudden you got that that you know what I mean, that dead animal smell and I was just like, my god Woo Herbie: stench the miasma that just like lingers lingers Shamus: Yeah. Especially in the dead of summer. so. Huh. I guess we can wrap this one up. All right. I mean we kind of just rambled for fifty one minutes. Yeah. But it was productive. I Herbie: Rambling. Shamus: like everybody. Let me see if I can find my closing papers. Herbie: Yeah, man. Like everyone like seriously, thank you so much for like listening. keep giving us like, you know, likes and reviews, opinions, you know, even like the bad ones, whatever. We just yeah, appreciate you guys listening. Hope you guys tell more people and we're gonna keep this going. Shamus: Yeah. And remember to like, rate, and subscribe on Spotify and Apple Podcasts and also tell some people all about us. It's like I said, this thing is getting big like when Taylor Ham recognizes Herbie: No, yeah, it's cool. Shamus: You know, and other people like I said, when we walked into dad's the other day, somebody was just like, Sheamus McKnight and like I tell and the one lady turned around and go to you. I was like, Holy shit. And then we just started talking to people and they're just like and my buddy was just like, How's the podcast? And I was just like, You listen to that shit? He was like, Yeah, man. So I mean this thing is I I have to look at stats. I haven't done it in a while 'cause my laptop's kinda on the fritz. It's another problem we've been having with getting shows out every once in a while. But I did some stuff to it, so hopefully where's but yeah, but like everybody's People who listen, I I'm shocked that they're listening. So Yeah. Herbie: That's just fun and I appreciate it. Shamus: And like I said, make sure you guys are listening to the sighting a new podcast. You're listening to Booze and Tattoos. Yeah. You give Carly says a ready catering and ready meal prep thing a call. Make sure you call Len. Make sure you go see Bob get carrot waxed. Yeah. And then all our other sponsors like Pauly at Snipes and Tattoo and Body Art and Pooper Scoopers. Yeah, we are, man. We're getting there so and I got a feeling when this thing goes to video, it's really gonna take off a little bit. So All right, everybody. Thanks for listening to this I don't even know what to call this. I don't even know. Yeah, this rambling episode of ours. Have a good night. Yeah, but yeah, this is not but Bud Light Limes. Yeah, man. All right, everybody, have a good night.
