- Lucas: Hei Luna, and welcome back to Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. It's good to have you here. Luna: Hey Lucas, glad to be back. Last episode on 'å fly' was fun. I'm ready to fly through today's lesson. Lucas: That's the spirit. Today we're going to learn a verb that's really useful in everyday life: 'å skynde seg' – to hurry. Luna: To hurry. I feel like I'm always hurrying somewhere. Let's hear it. Lucas: Okay. The verb is 'å skynde seg'. Say it with me: å skynde seg. Luna: Å skynde seg. Lucas: Perfect. Now, when you want to say 'I hurry', it's 'jeg skynder meg'. Try it. Luna: Jeg skynder meg. Lucas: Great. So 'å skynde seg' means to hurry, and 'jeg skynder meg' means I hurry or I'm hurrying. Luna: I'm hurrying. I can use that when someone's waiting for me. Lucas: Exactly. And the most common phrase you'll hear is 'du må skynde deg' – you have to hurry. Let's break it down: 'du' is you, 'må' is must, 'skynde deg' is hurry yourself. Luna: Du må skynde deg. That sounds like something I'd say to my friend when we're late. Lucas: For sure. And if you want to be more direct, you can say 'skynd deg' – hurry up. It's the imperative form. Luna: Skynd deg. That's short and punchy. I like it. Lucas: Then there's 'vi må skynde oss' – we have to hurry. For when you're in a group. Luna: Vi må skynde oss. We have to hurry. That's perfect for when we're running to catch the bus. Lucas: Exactly. Let's practice all of them together. First, å skynde seg. Luna: Å skynde seg. Lucas: Jeg skynder meg. Luna: Jeg skynder meg. Lucas: Du må skynde deg. Luna: Du må skynde deg. Lucas: Skynd deg. Luna: Skynd deg. Lucas: Vi må skynde oss. Luna: Vi må skynde oss. Lucas: You're doing great. Now let's put these into a little scene. Imagine you're at home, and you're running late for work. Luna: Okay, I can picture it. Lucas: You look at the clock and say, 'Å nei, jeg skynder meg!' – Oh no, I'm hurrying. Luna: Å nei, jeg skynder meg. Lucas: Then your friend calls and says, 'Skynd deg!' – Hurry up! Luna: Skynd deg. Lucas: And you reply, 'Vi må skynde oss!' – We have to hurry! Luna: Vi må skynde oss. That feels like a real conversation. Lucas: Absolutely. And remember, when you use these phrases, you're sounding more and more natural. Luna: It's all about practice.
