- 0:39SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to Reality We've Got Thoughts.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: I'm Susan.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: And I'm Debbie.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: And we're here to recap the reality TV that you're watching.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: So on today's episode, we are going to recap the final episodes of Earl Meets World.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: It's been so much fun going through this entire series that Debbie and I both had a blast binging, and I know you have too.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: So we're going to be excited to be getting into a bunch of other stuff next week because there's so many things happening with Salt Lake City, Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Real Housewives of New York, Next Gen, NYC, and on and on.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: So we're going to be recapping a lot.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: So let's get right into it and talk about how the season ended up in the last few episodes of Earl Mead's World.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: We start off season six.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: It's called Sister versus Sister.
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: And it starts out at TJ and Ashley's house with Ashton and Isabel having a cute little conversation as they're doing makeup and laughing.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: And Ashton's asking, Well, do you still do six seven and this?
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: And Isabel just looks at her and she's like, Oh, you're so unk.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: And Ashton is just mortified that she's not unk.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: Do you know what unk means?
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: No, so now you need to fill me in.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: What is unk?
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: Unk means you're old.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: Oh, is it like uncle?
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like uncle.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: You're the old uncle that we don't understand.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: Oh, good.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: Well, I probably am that these days.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: I feel unk 90% of the time because I'm not up on these unk words.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: Oh my God, I love that.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: But apparently 6'7's not a thing anymore.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: 6'7 is not a thing anymore.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: And it's really funny because I used to coach high school tennis, and when we were doing the homecoming parade, which I know you're familiar with because our girls went to the same high school together, and you still have a son there.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: But we go around the property and all of the athletes and everybody, the whole parade goes by the younger kids' school.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Well, this was in the height of six seven.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: So we're going around, and every single kid is like, six, seven, six, seven.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: And so I just kept going, eight, nine, eight, nine.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: And my team was like dying.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: I think I have videos of it.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: It was so funny.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: And I told them, I'm like, I'm gonna start this.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: This is gonna be the new thing.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Everyone's gonna be saying eight nine instead of six seven.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: But anyway, that um, yeah, six, seven is gone, I think.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Maybe we should have eight nine t-shirts made.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Yes, that could be our thing.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: I think it has jump the shark, which I'm really aging myself with that with that term.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: But anyway.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: Jump the shark.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: Do you even know what that means?
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: I've never heard that.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Okay, see, I love this because Debbie is younger than me.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: Not that not by much.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: So there's a saying where if something's like run its course or it's old, or like, you know, a style, anything that is done and over with, the saying is it's jump the shark.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: And it actually came from the show Happy Days.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: Because if you ever watched Happy Days, and obviously, even if you weren't alive at the time, everybody's watched the reruns, and it's what towards the later seasons, they started doing this wacky stuff.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: And who remembers when Fonzi was gonna jump over like the shark in the tank in the motorcycle?
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: See, and I remember.
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: Do you remember that?
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: I don't remember the term jump the shark.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: So you've never heard the term jump the shark.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: It must be a Florida thing.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: It's it is not a Florida.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: It is not a Florida thing.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: But oh, actually, in one of these episodes, there was some a term that um that Alex, we gotta look at it.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: Alex remembered that what was the term that the friends were saying, and Alex was saying that she didn't know what that was, but it was a very general term that everyone says.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: But anyway, we'll figure that out.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: But jump the shark is a real thing that people say.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: And if nobody listening has heard of it, then you know I'm just showing my mystery.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: She's gonna jump the shark.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: All right, so she was Unk.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: She was Unk.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: Um, then we roll into Alex showing up at the house and bringing all sorts of goodies from Duncan because she's working on a collaboration that she's doing with Duncan, Dunkin' Donuts.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: And they're just um testing out items that Alex will endorse with them.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: Uh, what do you think of Ashley starting a food fight when they're eating the donuts and everything?
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: Did you catch that?
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: No, I yeah.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: I mean, she again, she's just probably trying to be.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: I think she just tries too hard sometimes.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: So then Alex is hanging out with her friends, and I understandably, I think she gets jealous because Ashton is living in New York.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: She gets to hang out with all of Alex's friends, and she's busy working, so she feels left out.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: And I can definitely relate to this because they I have two daughters also, and they're almost the same exact age difference as Alex and Ashton.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: There's um like a two-year, five-month age difference between my daughters, Sydney and Blake, and Alex and Ashton have almost the same age difference.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: So what happens is is sometimes they have the same friends, but think about it, it's probably this way too, if you're a twin.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: You don't necessarily always want to be both of you together with that friend.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: So sometimes, let's say that I mean, we'll just use Tatum as an example, even your daughter.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: But like maybe Blake and Tatum don't always want Sydney, which you know, this could even happen.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: They're all three at college together now, but you don't, you don't necessarily always want your sister to be there.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: But then in this situation, she's feeling really left out because they're able to do stuff, and then she's busy working and not working and has no social life because of her work.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: So she has a good thing with them.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: So then they all, the friend group all goes out on a big group night out.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: They've got these cute wigs on and all this stuff.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: And Alex starts talking about how, even though these were mainly her friends first, she now feels like an outsider in this group.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: She's being very honest and vulnerable about it.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: And and genuinely, you know, she's missing out on normal 25-year-old stuff.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: I mean, normally most people aren't doing what she's doing at 25.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: And then she discovers that there's a completely separate group chat that she's not a part of, the brunette chat.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: But what she's not realizing is they have this separate group chat because they go out all the time and they don't want her to feel bad about them getting together all the time without her.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: So then we we go into uh where Ashton is upset because Alex secretly recorded her before she went on a date and posted something on it, and then she also posted about them getting in a fight with each other, and Ashton was really upset about it.
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: But Alex is not sorry at all.
- 7:09SPEAKER_01: So are you Team Ashton or Team Alex on this one?
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: I am a thousand percent team Ashton on this.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: I feel like I have experienced this in my own life so many times.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: I would get so mad at my daughter Sydney because she would take photos of us like in middle school.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: Either if my husband Patrick and I were driving her to school, she would take pictures of us and Snapchat them to like her entire group or record me without knowing.
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: They would always take the ugliest angle.
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: Heck yeah! When you're driving in a car and someone is taping from across there, it's insane.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: It's just humiliating because you have no idea who they're sending it to.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: And then you know all their friends are just sitting there laughing at them.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so when she's taping Ashton and Ashton does not want her to post the video, I just don't think that's right.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: I'm team Ashton on that one as well.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: I don't think it's right at all.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: So then they're in the car and they're they're riding, and then you know, they're having this discussion, and Alex does reach out for Austin's hand to hold her hand, is basically like, you know, we have to be in this together, whatever.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: And Ashton does eventually hold her hand.
- 8:20SPEAKER_01: They kind of make a truce, call it a truce.
- 8:23SPEAKER_01: But they're on their way to go to Alyssa's house to get the genetic testing done, and that's where this episode kind of leaves, is because they're both kind of emotional.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: It's nice to see a vulnerable side, to see, you know, the energy in their relationship is a positive one that they're there for each other instead of just arguing.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: Yes, and I did think from a show standpoint it was, you know, very good for them to give you such an insider look at this.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: And I do think from the standpoint of Alyssa sharing about her breast cancer and them talking about this certainly could help a lot of people going through the same thing.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, agreed.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: So let's get right into episode seven from there.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: Um, it's called NDA.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: And it starts off with Alex on the Tonight Show and talking about Real Actives.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: Alyssa, Todd, Ashton, Ashley, they're all there to support her, and they've got TJ on FaceTime, so I thought that was great that they're all there in a big moment for her to support her together.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that was really cool.
- 9:23SPEAKER_01: And then they roll into the launch day for real actives, and it was so popular that the website crashed.
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: Alex is really stressed out about this, but it's out of her control, and she recognizes that.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and in a way, there might be no better promotion and marketing than the PR they got off of the website crashing, and they even show some of the videos people said, like, oh, I'm trying to buy the product.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: I know my daughter Sydney was on there the very first day buying it, and she loves the products.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: But you and I both have been there.
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: Nothing is more frustrating than getting online to buy something and you're in this holding room, and then all of a sudden the website crashes and you can't buy it.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: Like a park sweatshirt, like those dang park sweatshirts that are the death of me.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: Why did I not invent the park sweatshirt?
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: Those park launches are the death of me.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: And if anyone listening does not know what park is, you can look it up.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: It's park with an E, and all of the young girls are like obsessed with it, and then they did like a college drop, right?
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: And they do all this and they they do random periodic drops, but when they do a drop, you have a time that they open the website, you jump on, you're lucky if you get anything in your cart before it sells out.
- 10:37SPEAKER_01: It's crazy.
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: I want to come up with a product like that.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: That's gonna be the next thing we're gonna do, Debbie.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: We're gonna think of some product like that.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: We're on it.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: So luckily, it is a really touching, um, touching scene, right?
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: Because afterwards, obviously it's very exciting that they have this very successful launch, and TJ does seem like very proud, and somebody And Alex even gets emotional and says, I couldn't have done this without you.
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: I'm so glad that you were here and I have your support through all of it.
- 11:07SPEAKER_01: And someone asks him the question, Are you here today as dadager or as dad?
- 11:12SPEAKER_01: And he smiles and he says, I'm here as dad.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: And I thought that was really sweet.
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: And there was actually a cute hug then.
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: It wasn't an awkward hug that time between dad and daughter.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, very good.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: So back in New York, we've got Ashton, and she's talking about how she feels like she's not a priority and how her dad keeps missing her meetings.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: Which is another kind of Kardashian thing where there was between the siblings on the Kardashians, where there was always, you know, Chris was giving more attention to Kim or to Courtney, and there was always one sibling that was feeling left out.
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: So another Kardashian-esque part of this is they decide to prank TJ.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: They decide that they are going to tell him, or that, you know, that Alex is gonna let on to him that Ashton is actually looking at new managers.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: So, what did you think of that?
- 12:05SPEAKER_01: Oh, I thought it was great because you know she has no intention of looking for a new manager at all.
- 12:10SPEAKER_01: No.
- 12:11SPEAKER_01: And she knows how her dad's gonna react to it, which is even better.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: And that is really funny.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: Because then Alex is going on the Drew Barrymore show, and that's when um she brings it all up with TJ to tell him this thing and get this prank going.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: And um, he's gonna get the wheels spinning for him.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he kind of freaks out.
- 12:31SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: You can tell.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: And he tries to call Ashton and she sends him straight to voicemail.
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: So he immediately calls again, thinking he's just on Do Not Disturb, and again he goes to voicemail, and you can visually see the panic on his face.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: It was really good.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: It was good.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: It was good.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: So then they go to the launch party, which was really cool.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: I like the color of the products.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: I love green anyway.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: I'm a green person.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: I do too.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: And the packaging, you know, just like Jimmy Fallon said, it's pretty packaging.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: I like the colors.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: And the whole party, of course, was the theme colors of the of the brand, the green.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: Um, and they prolong it by Ashton really blowing TJ off at the party.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: I love too at the beginning of the party.
- 13:13SPEAKER_01: Did you see how Penelope made a beeline for Alex and just gave her a hug and told her how proud she is of her?
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: Yes, again, like that is very genuine.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: It was cute.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: So dad believes the prank.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: We we see then we can tell by TJ's genuine reactions that he's believing this.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: So it's funny how he's talking to Ashley, and then they go over and they get Isabel over and they ask her, like, what do you think?
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: Like it's so funny how they hold the whole family in two to two.
- 13:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I agree.
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: So then we roll into TJ meeting with Ashton, and he explains to her that look, there's things that I do that most managers would not do.
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: Uh and part of that is because I'm your dad.
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: He's, you know, ultimately his priority is to ensure that she lives a healthy and prosperous life, and he's really proud of her.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: And he talked tells her that he talked to his therapist about all of it.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: And one of his triggers is that he gets when he lets people down, especially those close to him, it really affects him.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: So when he thought that she was dropping him as a manager, it really took a toll on him to enough so that he needed to talk to his therapist about it, which I thought was interesting.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: And he was really prepared, right?
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: He had all that stuff.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: Like he does have like marketing plans for her and strategies and all that.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: And she was like, Did you make this?
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: Because you thought I don't think he just made that.
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: I think he probably had that stuff.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: She might still be, I mean, she's so young and she's just still getting she might not have even realized he had all that.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: What do you think?
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and she even tells him, she's like, Look, I you didn't let me down.
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: I just wanted to light a fire under your feet so you actually show up to my meetings and not make me feel like I'm forgotten.
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: So they they resolved it and I thought it was really good.
- 14:52SPEAKER_01: And it also, I think he showed a vulnerable side that he's going to therapist and shows that it's okay to have therapy and it's okay to have to, you know, talk to someone else and talk through your issues before you actually address them head on.
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think that's great.
- 15:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:05SPEAKER_01: I thought so too.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: So speaking of therapy, we end the episode with the girls at um Alyssa's house and they're awaiting their genetic testing results.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: And um, when they get the results, it's a really emotional time for them.
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: Very heavy.
- 15:25SPEAKER_01: And so if you haven't watched the episode, spoiler alert, we're gonna tell you the results.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: They both test positive.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: And um, at first, Ashton was kind of melancholy, just had showed no emotion at all.
- 15:38SPEAKER_01: And Alex got really, really emotional, and then it's like all of a sudden it hit Ashton the the how heavy all of that information was, and she lost it.
- 15:48SPEAKER_01: So it was really it was really sweet to see the way they comforted each other, and also it made me feel so bad for Alyssa because she felt responsible for all of it.
- 15:58SPEAKER_01: Yep, and sh she took that on herself that she felt responsible for passing that on to the girls.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: And obviously she can't, but it's normal for her to feel that way, and then they call TJ to let him know.
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: And Alyssa accidentally tells TJ she loves her with the hamps, which was exactly what they needed in the moment because they all just started laughing.
- 16:16SPEAKER_01: So it was it was a good way to end that whole um result.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it really was.
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: So, and actually that's not how we ended the episode.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: The episode ended with a little snippet of Sally and Ashton showing Alex a video of Alex Cooper.
- 16:35SPEAKER_01: And that's where it begins.
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: That's where it begins.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: So we might as well just roll right into episode eight called Oh Alex.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: So really the main thing is that video.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: And when you watch that video, uh, how did that, you know, what did you think of that?
- 16:50SPEAKER_01: It's basically Alex Cooper calling her out saying, I'm sick of all this, you know, passive aggressiveness.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: Like if you got a problem with me, just come out and tell me what it is.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was it was pretty jarring.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: It was pretty jarring.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: It was it was harsh, I thought.
- 17:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: You know, again, I've said this earlier.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: I don't know Alex Cooper that well.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: I've watched a little bit of her stuff.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: She obviously is known for being crass.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: She obviously is sort of trying to be like the female Howard Stern type thing.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: She's had a lot of success.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: Um, but she also has a track record of being out for herself.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: And I personally think that you can be successful and you can build a successful company while still without tearing other people down.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: And especially if you're a woman in this space and you're, you know, building this the Unwell network and all that stuff, you think she could try to be a little more positive.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: And even though I'm definitely team Alex with an eye, I guess we at least at this point don't necessarily know since we weren't there.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: But you know.
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: Well, I think seeing how both of them have handled the situation, and maybe it's just their personalities coming through that Alex Cooper is very just direct, just very direct.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: And Alex Earle is direct in her own way, but she's she comes across kinder.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: And regardless of exactly what the circumstances were, I can tell you one thing.
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: When you look at from a human resources corporate standpoint, at the time that all this went down, there is absolutely no doubt that Alex Cooper was in a position of power over Alex Earl.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: And so whatever happened, it's just a it's just a fact.
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: And that she had a position of power over her.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: And used it to her advantage.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: And you, and especially again, like even as a mom and having daughters not that much younger than than Alex Earl, when she's telling the story, when when they're all together at the house and TJ asks, you know, wait a second, explain this to not, I'm sorry, not TJ, Todd, tank top Todd.
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: When he asks to explain it.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: So that's when Alex kind of goes into telling, this is what happened.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: They hired me.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: I was promised this.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: I thought I was getting this.
- 19:11SPEAKER_00: She talks about the interview again, where Alex Cooper, they show the clips.
- 19:16SPEAKER_01: Um Alex asked her a lot of really inappropriate questions and real, really um personal questions that divulged a lot of personal information that Alex Earl was uncomfortable sharing, but kind of felt like she had to share because she's in the hot seat.
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: And like she said, she idolized Alex Cooper.
- 19:37SPEAKER_00: Like here she is in this position, coming up in this business, doing this, and here's somebody who's achieved the kind of success that Alex Cooper had achieved.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: And Alex Earl is looking at that like this is somebody I want to be like.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: She said she literally like idolized her.
- 19:51SPEAKER_00: I've looked up to her forever.
- 19:53SPEAKER_01: And when they got done with the interview, Alex Earl asked Alex Cooper specifically, please remove those from the interview.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: And she just blatantly ignored her.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: And that's where it gets really creepy to me, is where Alex Earl relays the story as it being where Alex Cooper was like, oh no, it's funny or whatever, and like patronizes her.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: Like that is not that's you know, that's not That's abusing your power.
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: It really is.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: Um, she should have been more open to protecting her because at the end of the day, she was she was just manipulating her, using her, you know, and and all that.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: And you can say whatever you want, that that's her business and all this, but it's not a good look.
- 20:37SPEAKER_01: It's not a good look at all.
- 20:38SPEAKER_01: And yes, Alex Earle had been in the business of sharing her life on her platform, but she was still learning.
- 20:47SPEAKER_01: She was still learning the road.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: 22.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: And Alex Cooper, I think.
- 20:50SPEAKER_01: 22-year-old girl.
- 20:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, she was trying, she she was being victimized, really.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: So, you know, it's interesting because obviously Alex Cooper has a very long and complicated history with Dave Portnoy.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: If you don't know, Dave Portnoy is the founder of Barstool Sports, which obviously he has um launched some of the greatest people in this industry, including Pat McCaffrey, um, who's obviously on college game day now and has a tremendously successful um career.
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: But he and Alex Cooper have had um have had an interesting past.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: He started Alex out with her um old partner, Sophia Franklin, and there is he talks about it in his book, in his June 26th memoir, Portnoy alleged that the former Call Her Daddy co-hosts threatened to use false sexual harassment claims as a game plan to escape their contractual obligations to bar stole sports.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: It's in Dave Portnoy's memoir.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: So even though now Dave will sort seemingly stick up for Alex Cooper against Alex Earl, this is what he wrote in his own memoir.
- 21:59SPEAKER_00: Now, when Alex Cooper was on an appearance on CNBC's Squawk Box, she addressed the claim publicly for the first time.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: And here is what she said.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: She said, That's not how I remember that at all.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: While adding that Portnoy has his version and she has her version, and that they're quote, all good.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: So here's the thing: she didn't outright deny the core accusation during this interview.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: She just says that she remembers it very differently.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: It almost sounds like the response of somebody that's been very well PR trained, right?
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: It's a scapegoat.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: So I just think that it's very interesting.
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: That's a huge thing of their their contract dispute.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: So this was definitely one of the most interesting parts of the show to me was learning a little more about this and you know.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:53SPEAKER_01: In the interview when Alex Cooper was interviewing Alex Earl, too, she brought up all of Ash Ashley's past history and made Alex talk about all that.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: And so this episode also shows Ashley talking about how it was so painful for her to have to relive all this stuff because of this interview.
- 23:11SPEAKER_01: And she just felt like it Alex Cooper's job was trying to pull the family apart by throwing all of this out there.
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: Um, but it TJ brings up an interesting point where he says, you know, it's interesting that Alex Cooper tried to tear our whole family apart and cause this big divide, yet now here we all are banding together trying to help Alex Earl decide how to respond to it.
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: And there is a really good new interview out with Ashley in Elle magazine where she addresses all this.
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: So if you want to check that out on Elle, that that is out there.
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: So then the whole series ends with this very dramatic final scene in the season one finale where Alex makes a very nervous phone call to Braxton to ask if there is any possibility of them getting back together.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: And only for the episode to cut to black.
- 24:03SPEAKER_00: It's the final thing after he fully responds.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: All that he says is Oh, Alex.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: And it just gives you a chill, right?
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: You feel you feel for her in that moment.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: You do, but it's also such a cliffhanger because it just leaves you wanting more and wanting to find out what happens from that conversation.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 24:25SPEAKER_00: And I guess right now we know they're not really back together, but as we all know, time will time will tell.
- 24:31SPEAKER_00: So that was it.
- 24:31SPEAKER_00: It was great.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: I really loved the show.
- 24:34SPEAKER_00: Um, what did you think, Debbie?
- 24:36SPEAKER_01: I hope that they get re signed for a season two.
- 24:38SPEAKER_01: I've I think um it was just enough to generate interest and an attachment to each one of the family members that you want more.
- 24:46SPEAKER_00: Yes, I'm interested in these people's stories.
- 24:49SPEAKER_00: I want to see what happens with Todd and Alyssa.
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: Did they find a house?
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: Are they fully moved in together?
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: Are they doing good?
- 24:56SPEAKER_00: Is he still wearing his tank tops?
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: And how great would it be if Ashton is with Landon Barker?
- 25:01SPEAKER_00: And I think he would definitely be willing to come on the show knowing the history of his family.
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: And um, I think it would be great.
- 25:09SPEAKER_01: It would.
- 25:09SPEAKER_01: And I think Alex Earl is just such a lovable character.
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: You can't help but want to cheer for her and and want to see her succeed.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think it would be great.
- 25:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
