- 0:19Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Twenty twenty six. Drake make definitely would have.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Won that game for the mist You drop the ball
- 0:28Speaker 2: five six times? Does that make you the better team?
- 0:30Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 0:31Speaker 2: So when you drop the ball makes it better?
- 0:32Speaker 5: Yeah? Guy has just told you how open these guys were.
- 0:34Speaker 2: You were lucky, go I know, but if you dropped
- 0:36Speaker 2: the ball, you dropped the ball. That's that's a lack
- 0:38Speaker 2: of execution.
- 0:39Speaker 5: You did what you wanted to do more than they
- 0:41Speaker 5: did what they.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Wanted to do. I think they wanted to catch the ball.
- 0:44Speaker 5: Did you ever see anybody so maddening as this?
- 0:46Speaker 6: This is not a shot like, it's just a different
- 0:48Speaker 6: way of watching the game. But you're great at at
- 0:51Speaker 6: seeing the game. I'm great at seeing like leak, Just
- 0:56Speaker 6: what about a drive starter? How are you going to
- 0:58Speaker 6: run duo within a one hundred and eighty pounds? Were
- 1:00Speaker 6: trying to dig out the nickels like good luck.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Had on a hat, right, I mean had on a hat.
- 1:13Speaker 2: I'm better than you.
- 1:14Speaker 1: This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:17Speaker 5: Presented by Toyota's official website.
- 1:19Speaker 2: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com. All right, welcome
- 1:24Speaker 2: to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Wednesday here at Jillette Stadium,
- 1:30Speaker 2: but it's kind of like a Saturday.
- 1:32Speaker 3: At Jillette Stadium, so we shouldn't.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Be here in that the team is about to leave
- 1:37Speaker 2: the stadium to get to New Jersey to play the
- 1:40Speaker 2: New Jersey Jets on Thursday night. So excited about that.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Evan and I will be leaving the show a little
- 1:48Speaker 2: bit early today, so we have a little bit of
- 1:50Speaker 2: an altered schedule. We'll be doing our picks about twelve
- 1:54Speaker 2: forty in the show, and we'll do the picks, Evan
- 1:56Speaker 2: and I will leave, and then Alex, Alex Duce, Paul
- 2:01Speaker 2: will carry the show to the end.
- 2:03Speaker 3: It's right, yeah, triumphantly.
- 2:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:07Speaker 2: So it is Evan, it's Paul, it's me, it's Deuce,
- 2:10Speaker 2: it's Alex, it's Matt and Nabooth and we're here or
- 2:12Speaker 2: they're here until two o'clock talking Patriots getting ready for
- 2:16Speaker 2: this Thursday night clash on Prime Video. What are we thinking?
- 2:22Speaker 2: I love that, I think that I think the main
- 2:25Speaker 2: story is injuries, right, right, Yeah, yeah, yeah, well I
- 2:27Speaker 2: just wrote about it.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Actually, did I think on Kten Wallace playing maybe playing
- 2:31Speaker 3: left tackle? Verdarian Lowe was not a practice. We saw
- 2:34Speaker 3: him in the locker room last night when we went
- 2:35Speaker 3: in about what seven fifteen last night, and then ray
- 2:38Speaker 3: Quia McMillan the other the other guy probably gonna fill
- 2:41Speaker 3: in a little bit for Juwan Bentley dug up. Somebody
- 2:43Speaker 3: had written about him in the summer. I mean he
- 2:45Speaker 3: had like I think the first preseason game he was
- 2:46Speaker 3: kind of flying around a little bit, and then you know,
- 2:48Speaker 3: after that people were talking to him, and the summer
- 2:51Speaker 3: he talked about just how hard it was those two
- 2:53Speaker 3: years that he completely lost injury. So he knows what
- 2:55Speaker 3: Bentley's going through. They've become really close. It sounds like
- 2:57Speaker 3: they've gone on trips together to Costa Rica, So it
- 3:00Speaker 3: sounds like those two guys really have developed a bond.
- 3:02Speaker 3: And now it might be a little more ray Cleon
- 3:04Speaker 3: McMillan filling in for him.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Yeah, Patriots aren't the only team dealing with injuries. The
- 3:10Speaker 2: Jets also have some you know, pretty key injuries going
- 3:14Speaker 2: on right now.
- 3:15Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I think you know, Thursday night games
- 3:18Speaker 5: guys aren't available. I don't know who have figured that out,
- 3:22Speaker 5: but I think it's an issue for both sides. The
- 3:24Speaker 5: Patriots offensive line, I think, you know, not jess Byderian Low.
- 3:27Speaker 5: Those guys are banged up. You know, we've seen all
- 3:31Speaker 5: of them on the injury report. You know, it was
- 3:33Speaker 5: good signed to see David Andrews sort of upgraded a
- 3:36Speaker 5: little bit to what limited yesterday.
- 3:38Speaker 3: I guess, yeah, he said he was okay.
- 3:40Speaker 5: You know, and so yeah, I'm sure he's fine, He's
- 3:42Speaker 5: he's gonna play, but you know, it's it's tough for
- 3:45Speaker 5: these guys to bounce back. And obviously you mentioned the
- 3:47Speaker 5: Jets guys too. You know, Jermaine Johnson's out, so that's
- 3:51Speaker 5: going to probably put Will McDonald into a bigger role
- 3:53Speaker 5: for them on the edge. He's a first round pick
- 3:55Speaker 5: from last year who's played a little bit better I
- 3:58Speaker 5: think in year two, but was kind of disappointing as
- 4:01Speaker 5: a rookie. And c J. Mosley is the guy that
- 4:04Speaker 5: I think that that's the the Bentley for the Jets.
- 4:07Speaker 5: And you know, you know the Patriots want to run
- 4:09Speaker 5: the ball.
- 4:10Speaker 2: C J.
- 4:11Speaker 5: Mosley is the guy they probably indeed in the lineup.
- 4:13Speaker 5: He hasn't done anything at practice this week.
- 4:15Speaker 2: We'll see later today, so he hasn't participated or d
- 4:19Speaker 2: n Yeah.
- 4:20Speaker 3: McDonald's really light too, So like that's the's the thing
- 4:23Speaker 3: to play early downs is gonna be an advantage I
- 4:25Speaker 3: think for the Patriots.
- 4:26Speaker 6: Run right at them, so more the same run run run, yeah, yeah,
- 4:31Speaker 6: right at them. Don't try to run into the alley.
- 4:34Speaker 6: Run it right at them. Yeah, you know you don't
- 4:36Speaker 6: want to try to look it for a seal here. No,
- 4:37Speaker 6: I'm not looking for any seal here. Like, this is
- 4:40Speaker 6: not a team that you want to go east west against.
- 4:43Speaker 6: They got east west guys. You want to go right
- 4:46Speaker 6: up the field. So especially without those two guys, I
- 4:49Speaker 6: am expecting them to run the.
- 4:50Speaker 5: Ball right for more gap and duo than the round exactly.
- 4:54Speaker 3: You're learning.
- 4:56Speaker 2: So Jets favored by six yeah and a half. Six
- 5:03Speaker 2: and a half.
- 5:03Speaker 5: Wow, So you get which I think is a little
- 5:05Speaker 5: bit of a disrespect.
- 5:08Speaker 2: So really it's three and a half.
- 5:09Speaker 5: I feel like it's a little bit a little bit
- 5:12Speaker 5: higher than I than I thought it would be because the
- 5:14Speaker 5: Jets haven't really done much offensively.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Yeah, yep, I agree, you know we did keys to
- 5:20Speaker 3: the game. Not to ruin your key, but your key
- 5:22Speaker 3: is the key. I think. I think Breeshall scares me, Like,
- 5:24Speaker 3: I just think he's the problem.
- 5:25Speaker 5: Now to now, we just lost like half of our
- 5:29Speaker 5: viewership for tomorrow night. They don't need to chime in
- 5:31Speaker 5: because they only chime in to hear I thought Paul's
- 5:33Speaker 5: key to the game.
- 5:33Speaker 3: I gotta tell the guys before they get on.
- 5:34Speaker 5: That's part of the pregame show.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Beyond beyond Breesaw is definitely a problem. Garrett Wilson's a problem.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Beyond Garrett Wilson. In the passing game, who are we
- 5:43Speaker 2: worried about?
- 5:45Speaker 6: They throw to the backs a lot. Yeah, they really don't.
- 5:47Speaker 6: I mean, Alan Lazar is kind of the other guy
- 5:49Speaker 6: that Rogers seems to trust. Mike Williams finally made a
- 5:52Speaker 6: play last week late in that game against the Titans.
- 5:56Speaker 6: But in general, that just watching them Breesaw, Breesaw, Bresall
- 6:00Speaker 6: deep ball to Garrett Wilson, Breesaw Abris Alibrisall Like that's
- 6:04Speaker 6: just kind of their offense. Now, Brayln Allen has emerged
- 6:07Speaker 6: the rookie running back, so they have a two headed
- 6:09Speaker 6: monster now at running back. That's not all that different
- 6:12Speaker 6: than Gibson and Stevenson stylistically, But that was the one
- 6:16Speaker 6: takeaway I had with it from their offense, was that
- 6:19Speaker 6: kind of shut off those two guys as much as
- 6:21Speaker 6: you possibly can. There's not really much else that scares
- 6:24Speaker 6: you about this offense.
- 6:26Speaker 5: They haven't had a lot of variations beyond what he
- 6:28Speaker 5: what Evan just talked about. I will say Mike Williams
- 6:31Speaker 5: is a guy I'm kind of keeping an eye on
- 6:33Speaker 5: because he's basically in Kendrick Bourne spot. You know, he
- 6:37Speaker 5: hurt his knee last year, missed the rest of the season,
- 6:41Speaker 5: and he's playing. You know, he's sort of playing himself
- 6:44Speaker 5: back into playing shape.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Now.
- 6:47Speaker 5: There was a story I saw today that said he
- 6:51Speaker 5: played more than he was anticipating playing, and he felt
- 6:53Speaker 5: better in week two than week one. Now he's Evans right,
- 6:58Speaker 5: I think he was. He's only been targeted one in
- 7:00Speaker 5: two games, but it was a huge play on the
- 7:02Speaker 5: game winning drive on a third and long. You cut
- 7:05Speaker 5: a nineteen yard pass, typical Mike Williams played like a
- 7:08Speaker 5: high point fifty to fifty ball. He just went up
- 7:10Speaker 5: and high pointed. I would be surprised if Rogers didn't
- 7:14Speaker 5: take a couple of shots with him, you know, during
- 7:17Speaker 5: the course of the night.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:18Speaker 6: Can we just go back to Kaden Wallace for a second, though,
- 7:21Speaker 6: because it's not quite Drake May, Like, we're not that
- 7:24Speaker 6: hyped yet about a rookie starting, but it's a pretty
- 7:29Speaker 6: big start. I would say for Kayden Wallace in this game,
- 7:31Speaker 6: if he can just be serviceable or just better than
- 7:34Speaker 6: Vederian Low, then that changes things on the offensive line
- 7:38Speaker 6: moving forward. I could see him not coming out of
- 7:41Speaker 6: the starting lineup if he plays well on Thursday night.
- 7:43Speaker 6: So it's not quite, like I said, as much hype
- 7:46Speaker 6: around it as if Drake May was playing. But it's
- 7:49Speaker 6: not a small thing that we're going to see him
- 7:52Speaker 6: play for the first time as a as a true tackle,
- 7:54Speaker 6: and let's see what he's got. If he can hold
- 7:56Speaker 6: his own, then he's probably going to be starting for
- 7:59Speaker 6: the rest of the season. And maybe they hit on
- 8:01Speaker 6: that pick and they're in better shape with the line
- 8:04Speaker 6: that has been atrocious. So I'm looking forward to seeing
- 8:07Speaker 6: what Wallace can do. I think it's a big moment
- 8:09Speaker 6: for him.
- 8:09Speaker 2: And you know, I'm probably not supposed to say this,
- 8:13Speaker 2: but I heard early on, even in training camp that
- 8:16Speaker 2: Wallace's problem is he's coming in overweight. He wasn't hitting
- 8:20Speaker 2: his weight, you know, guideline, and that's that's been holding
- 8:25Speaker 2: him back. I don't know if that's still the case,
- 8:28Speaker 2: but hopefully, you know, he comes in and just proves
- 8:32Speaker 2: that he should have been the starter all along.
- 8:34Speaker 5: Did you hear that about Wallace or a winner?
- 8:36Speaker 2: No, Wallace, Now I've heard about when I have that,
- 8:40Speaker 2: but a whnu was even before, like in the off season,
- 8:43Speaker 2: like he gained a lot of weight, is what I heard.
- 8:45Speaker 2: But that was a whole different issue.
- 8:47Speaker 5: Okay, I just wanted to know this clarify.
- 8:49Speaker 2: It's definitely Caiten Wallace. And it wasn't like, you know,
- 8:51Speaker 2: it was like twenty pounds, you know, it was like
- 8:54Speaker 2: two three four pounds. But they had a number for
- 8:57Speaker 2: him and he wasn't hitting it, you know. And when
- 9:00Speaker 2: you're a rookie, that's a lot of a bigger deal
- 9:02Speaker 2: than when you're a you know, six seven year veteran.
- 9:05Speaker 5: I like the thing that Mike said yesterday about Wallace,
- 9:08Speaker 5: and that's what I would I think the better scenario,
- 9:12Speaker 5: or the more likely scenario, would be that he does
- 9:15Speaker 5: sort of show that he is competent, and then you
- 9:19Speaker 5: put him at right tackle and move a winning winside
- 9:21Speaker 5: back to guard. And then when Vederian Lowe is healthy again,
- 9:25Speaker 5: you know, you put him back out there and you
- 9:27Speaker 5: still get Evansky in the draft next year go left?
- 9:32Speaker 6: Can Who can Valerian low play the right now? He's
- 9:35Speaker 6: been a disaster playing right tackle?
- 9:37Speaker 2: Actually, because I'd rather I mean, if Kane Wallace could
- 9:39Speaker 2: play left I'd rather keep him there. I don't and
- 9:42Speaker 2: and change and fool around with the right side.
- 9:44Speaker 5: I just would rather have a guy who's played left
- 9:46Speaker 5: tackle play left tackle. I've just been a rookie who's
- 9:48Speaker 5: never done it.
- 9:49Speaker 6: I just wonder about moving around a guy like Laden
- 9:52Speaker 6: Robinson too much, too, Like he's another rookie that's playing
- 9:56Speaker 6: for his first you know time in the NFL. If
- 9:59Speaker 6: now all of a sudden you fla him the left
- 10:00Speaker 6: guard because they have on when who at right guard?
- 10:03Speaker 6: Now you're moving another piece and you know, nowt here
- 10:05Speaker 6: we go with the musical chairs. But typically you would
- 10:09Speaker 6: like to see it won one for one right like
- 10:12Speaker 6: goes in for low and no everybody else.
- 10:14Speaker 5: I do think that he played left guard now, I'm.
- 10:19Speaker 6: He didn't in a and m He didn't start any
- 10:21Speaker 6: games of left guard there, but he did play left
- 10:24Speaker 6: guard in camp.
- 10:25Speaker 5: Quite he definitely played the left side in camp. I
- 10:27Speaker 5: thought Dazio told me that he played all three spots
- 10:31Speaker 5: periodically in the interior. But maybe I'm misremembering that. I
- 10:35Speaker 5: might be confusing him with someone.
- 10:36Speaker 6: I'm sure he probably could have in practice and you
- 10:39Speaker 6: know that kind of stuff. But in terms of his starts,
- 10:41Speaker 6: they were mostly all at right guard.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Okay, It's kind of an interesting like look between Kaden Wallace,
- 10:46Speaker 3: who has played like what twelve snaps so far through
- 10:48Speaker 3: two games, maybe get his first start, versus Tyron Smith,
- 10:51Speaker 3: who's played amazing for what twelve years now? I mean,
- 10:54Speaker 3: just such a contrast between the two teams, and I
- 10:57Speaker 3: just I wonder, I mean, Kidon wall is probably gonna
- 10:58Speaker 3: be a little bit more fresh. How does this veteran
- 11:01Speaker 3: offensive line of the Jets? How are they feeling today?
- 11:03Speaker 3: How are they gonna feel tomorrow night? You know, that's
- 11:05Speaker 3: one thing I think maybe the Patriots can try to
- 11:07Speaker 3: exploit a little bit. Maybe, you know, I'm kind of grasping.
- 11:10Speaker 5: I don't.
- 11:10Speaker 3: I don't feel great about this game, to be honest, Wow,
- 11:13Speaker 3: I felt great about it not great. I think I
- 11:15Speaker 3: just still had some positivity early in the week and
- 11:17Speaker 3: now I just I don't know.
- 11:18Speaker 2: You know, I just got a lot of pieces they do,
- 11:20Speaker 2: but I don't.
- 11:21Speaker 3: I don't.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Listen, the Patriots are going to be underdogs. They should
- 11:24Speaker 2: be underdogs. Jets have more talent, but I don't. I'm like, like,
- 11:27Speaker 2: I'm not a scared. I'm not going like, oh God,
- 11:31Speaker 2: we don't have a chance. I think we've got a
- 11:32Speaker 2: puncher's chance.
- 11:33Speaker 5: I think so.
- 11:33Speaker 3: I mean, I I don't think, but I just think
- 11:35Speaker 3: the Jets have the playmakers.
- 11:37Speaker 5: You scared of?
- 11:38Speaker 2: Just out of curiosity, would I be scared of Baltimore?
- 11:42Speaker 2: I think they've got the type of team that we
- 11:45Speaker 2: probably don't match up well with San Francisco for the
- 11:48Speaker 2: forty nine ers with all their you know, especially just going.
- 11:51Speaker 5: To file that one.
- 11:52Speaker 7: That's why that's the answer I was looking for. We
- 11:54Speaker 7: played them next week, That's what he's gonna say. I'm
- 11:56Speaker 7: not scared, but no, But that's why than the Garrett
- 12:00Speaker 7: Wilson in the passing game. That's why I asked, who
- 12:03Speaker 7: are we afraid of?
- 12:04Speaker 2: Because of the way we really didn't look that great
- 12:08Speaker 2: against the pass last week. No, you know, and that's
- 12:11Speaker 2: that worries me. Yes, Uh, the Seahawks have three really
- 12:16Speaker 2: good receivers and maybe the Jets don't, and so we
- 12:20Speaker 2: look a little bit better. But on the other hand,
- 12:24Speaker 2: Rogers I think is still a lot better quarterback than
- 12:27Speaker 2: Gino Smith is, So you know, it's one of those things.
- 12:30Speaker 5: So he's a guy, like we're talking about the short turnaround,
- 12:34Speaker 5: He's a guy that I would be concerned about if
- 12:36Speaker 5: I were the Jets. You know, forty whatever, you're old,
- 12:39Speaker 5: coming off with torn achilles, having to play four years later,
- 12:45Speaker 5: you know, I just wonder if he is because he
- 12:46Speaker 5: hasn't moved around. The offensive line has been actually pretty
- 12:50Speaker 5: good for the Jets, more so in this this Tennessee
- 12:53Speaker 5: game than against San Francisco. But they weren't bad, and
- 12:58Speaker 5: it's you know, they got some new pieces in there,
- 13:00Speaker 5: and they have to protect Rogers because he's not going
- 13:03Speaker 5: to run around and make plays the way he did
- 13:04Speaker 5: in Green Bay, you know, coming off that injury, that's
- 13:07Speaker 5: not going to happen. So I think it's important to
- 13:10Speaker 5: get after him and make him uncomfortable.
- 13:13Speaker 6: Agreed. I think he's been Nancy in the pocket through
- 13:15Speaker 6: two weeks.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Well, I agree, it is interesting because not that Gino
- 13:18Speaker 2: Smith is like a running quarterback, but between Burrow and Smith,
- 13:22Speaker 2: they're a little bit more mobile than Rogers is. Now,
- 13:24Speaker 2: So how does that change up the Patriots defensive game plan?
- 13:28Speaker 2: You know, like you figure he's going to be staying
- 13:31Speaker 2: in the pocket, you know, so you know, so what
- 13:34Speaker 2: do you do? Well? Do you drop back, do you
- 13:36Speaker 2: just flood zones? Do you you know? Or or do
- 13:39Speaker 2: you try to get pressure on him?
- 13:41Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 13:41Speaker 6: I just watching him play so far with Rogers, he
- 13:45Speaker 6: doesn't look like a guy that wants to spend too
- 13:47Speaker 6: much time in the pocket. He's time to release right
- 13:50Speaker 6: now is the second fastest in the league two point
- 13:52Speaker 6: two six seconds, which is a big reason why the
- 13:54Speaker 6: pressure numbers for the Jets offensive line is so good,
- 13:57Speaker 6: because he's just getting rid of the ball so quick.
- 14:00Speaker 6: It's it's a lot like end of career Brady, where
- 14:03Speaker 6: like he's just not even waiting around for you to
- 14:05Speaker 6: generate a pass rush. I look at this Jets team
- 14:09Speaker 6: and I would try to disrupt their receivers. I would
- 14:12Speaker 6: get it in their guys' faces. You have Christian Gonzales
- 14:15Speaker 6: put him on Garrett Wilson and try to beat up
- 14:18Speaker 6: and throw off the timing of these routes that they're running.
- 14:20Speaker 6: They give you play soft coverage against them. That plays
- 14:23Speaker 6: into Rogers' favor. He's just gonna pick you apart underneath,
- 14:26Speaker 6: make them hold the ball, make him run around a
- 14:28Speaker 6: little bit, make you know, test the Achilles. Send Keon
- 14:31Speaker 6: White after him like that. That's what I would do.
- 14:33Speaker 6: You know, if I'm the Jets and I'm a Jets fan,
- 14:35Speaker 6: and I don't wish on the injuries like like Fred
- 14:38Speaker 6: does sometimes. Okay, But like if I if I was
- 14:43Speaker 6: the Jets and if I was a Jets fan, Keon
- 14:47Speaker 6: White coming after Aaron Rodgers in this game would terrify
- 14:51Speaker 6: the crap out of me, because if Keon gets a
- 14:52Speaker 6: clear shot at Aaron Rodgers in the pocket, I don't
- 14:56Speaker 6: know if he's getting up like I really don't like
- 14:59Speaker 6: he looks to me like a forty year old quarterback
- 15:02Speaker 6: right now that's coming off a torn Achilles still drops
- 15:05Speaker 6: dimes like you can still throw the ball, don't get
- 15:08Speaker 6: me wrong, But in terms of his mobility and that
- 15:11Speaker 6: hold Rogers like improvisational element that he used to have
- 15:15Speaker 6: in Green Bay, I don't think that's there anymore.
- 15:17Speaker 8: Okay, that being said, though, I think I wouldn't have
- 15:20Speaker 8: wished on my worst enemy the Patriots pass rush the
- 15:24Speaker 8: last couple of seasons, and I just don't think you
- 15:27Speaker 8: lose Jude on Juwan. I think is gonna be like
- 15:29Speaker 8: a much bigger loss than people are really even realizing
- 15:32Speaker 8: at the moment. And it's just pressuring the quarterbacks. Isn't
- 15:36Speaker 8: really something that we've seen a lot of the last two.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Not unless dialed up right, not not when you're rushing
- 15:43Speaker 2: three or four, they really haven't been able to get home.
- 15:46Speaker 3: Yeah, no, that's I mean, then listen to Evan talk.
- 15:49Speaker 3: It's like, I mean, do you have the downs where
- 15:51Speaker 3: you spin the dials? Just put three guys rush, three
- 15:53Speaker 3: drop everybody, Make them hold it, make them, you know,
- 15:55Speaker 3: make him try have to extend the play a little bit,
- 15:57Speaker 3: make them have to move. It'll be a chess match
- 16:00Speaker 3: in short week. I think the experience that was always
- 16:02Speaker 3: good on these Thursday night games, when you're playing a
- 16:04Speaker 3: team that you're familiar with, it's it's a little bit
- 16:07Speaker 3: more even, I guess just sometimes I mean, didn't you
- 16:10Speaker 3: guys play Tampa like on a three day on the
- 16:13Speaker 3: Thursday night few. You know, the all white uniform, you guys,
- 16:16Speaker 3: you guys the Patriot I wasn't.
- 16:17Speaker 5: Here yet, you were one of us then that yeah, years.
- 16:20Speaker 6: Ago, that was like seventeen.
- 16:22Speaker 5: Yeah, they played Tampa one year. They played Atlanta, I
- 16:26Speaker 5: believe on a Thursday night one year. But they tend
- 16:30Speaker 5: to be oh yeah, that Houston game. But that was
- 16:35Speaker 5: that was a long time ago. I thought I was
- 16:37Speaker 5: like Atlanta's sixteen. For the most part, it's you know,
- 16:43Speaker 5: it's Buffalo. I think they had the Pittsburgh last year.
- 16:46Speaker 5: Pittsburgh last year was a team that you're really familiar
- 16:49Speaker 5: with too. On the look at the first two weeks,
- 16:52Speaker 5: you know, in the NFL it was two AFC East games,
- 16:55Speaker 5: Miami Buffalo and now England the Jets.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Yesterday, we were talking about Pop Doug why he hasn't
- 17:01Speaker 2: gotten more targets. Our team's declaring that, yeah, he's the
- 17:06Speaker 2: one guy we have to worry about. He's the one
- 17:07Speaker 2: guy that we're not gonna let him beat us. If
- 17:10Speaker 2: we see Sauce Gardner on Pop tomorrow night, is does
- 17:14Speaker 2: that answer our question that that's what other teams think.
- 17:17Speaker 6: So I looked it up for you Paul Devin Witherspoon
- 17:20Speaker 6: did shadow him quite a bit in the game last week.
- 17:23Speaker 6: And I would look at Reid as the guy that
- 17:26Speaker 6: would follow a guy like Pop Douglas, like Sauce Gardner's is,
- 17:30Speaker 6: you know, the big, big long cornerback outside guy. I
- 17:33Speaker 6: would think, you know, Read is a really good player too,
- 17:37Speaker 6: you know, the other corner for the Jets, if you
- 17:38Speaker 6: want to even call him that. They also Michael Carter there.
- 17:41Speaker 6: Nickel is also a really good player inside too. I
- 17:44Speaker 6: think he's banged up, but I'm sure he'll play. Those
- 17:47Speaker 6: two guys are more of the guy that I would
- 17:49Speaker 6: expect to cover somebody like Pop Douglas. Okay, Sauce is
- 17:53Speaker 6: his own kind of thing.
- 17:54Speaker 3: I just if I was the Jets, I wouldn't overthink it.
- 17:56Speaker 3: I just you know, there's nobody that's that threatening, at
- 17:59Speaker 3: least on paper out of the gate and let them see.
- 18:01Speaker 3: If they established and somebody starts all right having a game,
- 18:04Speaker 3: and all of a sudden the Patriots are able to
- 18:05Speaker 3: throw the ball, then maybe you.
- 18:06Speaker 5: Adjust Seattle did last week.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I wouldn't get out of what I do. I
- 18:09Speaker 3: want to stay comfortable, and you know, if they want
- 18:11Speaker 3: to just play sides and you know, challenge New England
- 18:15Speaker 3: that way instead of you know, oh, we're going to
- 18:17Speaker 3: change our game plan up to take Pop Douglas away,
- 18:19Speaker 3: who had no targets last week.
- 18:21Speaker 5: It seems a little and I know I'm a broken
- 18:22Speaker 5: record with it, but I also if I was these
- 18:24Speaker 5: opposing defenses, I wouldn't let the running production bother me
- 18:27Speaker 5: at all. I would just continue to do as Mike said,
- 18:30Speaker 5: do what you do and just sort of eliminate any
- 18:33Speaker 5: any chunk plays. And you know, there's obviously times in
- 18:36Speaker 5: the game where you need to be a little bit
- 18:39Speaker 5: more stout, you know, in those short yarded situations, the
- 18:42Speaker 5: red zone situations, I'd give up the yards. I wouldn't
- 18:46Speaker 5: overreact to them. And I also think, and I heard
- 18:49Speaker 5: a lot of this, the Jets were not bad at
- 18:53Speaker 5: all against the run against Tennessee. They were terrible against
- 18:56Speaker 5: the run against San Francisco. They got shredded for four
- 18:59Speaker 5: full quarter against the Niners. But against Tennessee it was
- 19:03Speaker 5: twenty four carries for ninety two yards. If you eliminate
- 19:06Speaker 5: four scrambles by Will Levis, which are not they're not
- 19:09Speaker 5: running zone reads all over the place. It's not Lamar
- 19:12Speaker 5: Jackson where you can incorporate Will. You know, Will Levis
- 19:15Speaker 5: is a mobile athletic guy, but he's running around, you know, improvisationally.
- 19:20Speaker 5: That's not traditional rushing yards. So that's why they allowed
- 19:23Speaker 5: one hundred and thirty yards. I think he had four
- 19:25Speaker 5: scrambles for thirty eight yards. So I don't think the
- 19:28Speaker 5: Jets are as bad as Seattle and Cincinnati were a
- 19:32Speaker 5: last year against the run, you know where that those
- 19:35Speaker 5: those teams were like thirty one and thirty against the
- 19:38Speaker 5: run last year. If I were the Jets, I wouldn't
- 19:41Speaker 5: do a whole lot different. I would let them, you know,
- 19:44Speaker 5: be content that they're going to get I don't know,
- 19:46Speaker 5: one hundred and thirty, one hundred and fifty yards, whatever
- 19:48Speaker 5: it is. But you got to come up with some
- 19:50Speaker 5: key stops when you need them. And CJ. Moseley is
- 19:53Speaker 5: a big that's a big loss for them. What's a matter?
- 19:54Speaker 3: Fred?
- 19:55Speaker 5: Did you fumble around? Did you fumble?
- 19:57Speaker 3: I lost my shoes.
- 19:59Speaker 5: You got to get the mouse, I mean find my
- 20:00Speaker 5: shoes anyway, Well, I was to your point, Paul, it's
- 20:04Speaker 5: it's like explosive scoring runs right like that. That's just
- 20:08Speaker 5: the no no.
- 20:08Speaker 3: But I mean, you've been consistent on this, and you're
- 20:11Speaker 3: defensively being consistent with it as well, where you're like,
- 20:14Speaker 3: it's hard to win games running the ball. So let's
- 20:16Speaker 3: you know, don't freak out.
- 20:17Speaker 5: So I just read something before the show show prep.
- 20:20Speaker 5: You imagine that me now. It was it was something
- 20:24Speaker 5: that Evan would have been very impressed with because it
- 20:26Speaker 5: was very uh, very specifically stat the nickels stat No,
- 20:31Speaker 5: they didn't have any any five to nine slot receivers.
- 20:34Speaker 5: Having to dig out the nickel on on.
- 20:38Speaker 6: Yeah, you had it, you knew what it was.
- 20:40Speaker 9: I know.
- 20:40Speaker 5: I just wanted to hear you finish it. So just
- 20:44Speaker 5: talking about all the stuff that we've been talking about
- 20:46Speaker 5: the last year plus now, like the offense is down
- 20:49Speaker 5: a little bit, defenses are pushing back all the two
- 20:51Speaker 5: high safety looks, and this gentleman, I think it was
- 20:55Speaker 5: Jared Dubin from CBS Sports. Yeah, so I want to
- 20:59Speaker 5: credit him because I read a lot. It's obviously very
- 21:02Speaker 5: thoroughly researched in terms of alignments and throws and epas
- 21:07Speaker 5: and all that stuff. Truth be told, I glossed right
- 21:10Speaker 5: over all the charts because I had no interest in
- 21:12Speaker 5: any of them. Those are the best part. It's like
- 21:14Speaker 5: a picture book. So what it showed is that teams
- 21:17Speaker 5: are daring to you know, they've they're giving you light boxes,
- 21:20Speaker 5: they're daring you to run, and they're daring you to
- 21:23Speaker 5: throw it short of the sticks. Teams are throwing it
- 21:26Speaker 5: shorter of first downs on third downs now than ever before,
- 21:30Speaker 5: and they're rallying to the ball and tackling and they're
- 21:32Speaker 5: basically taking the bait. Offenses are falling right into the trap.
- 21:36Speaker 5: And the writer's point is when they've actually tested the
- 21:40Speaker 5: too high and they've tried to get downfield, it's working
- 21:43Speaker 5: at a higher rate than it was in the past,
- 21:46Speaker 5: but teams are still not doing it as much as
- 21:48Speaker 5: they should.
- 21:49Speaker 2: So his.
- 21:51Speaker 5: Sort of takeaway is offense is down a little bit
- 21:56Speaker 5: because they're taking the bait of what defenses are trying
- 21:59Speaker 5: to give them, and that's keeping points down as a result.
- 22:02Speaker 5: Because it's a hot and he actually used the term
- 22:04Speaker 5: that we've used throughout the last two weeks is it's
- 22:07Speaker 5: a hard way to make a living. Yeah, when you're
- 22:09Speaker 5: having to constantly get double digit plays to put a
- 22:12Speaker 5: scoring drive together without any mistakes.
- 22:14Speaker 6: Yeah, that that's I guess My one rebuttal to the Patriots,
- 22:18Speaker 6: like not loading up and trying to stop the Patriots
- 22:20Speaker 6: running loaded, running game, is just that that that's their
- 22:26Speaker 6: Their path to victory is shortening the game, keeping the
- 22:29Speaker 6: scoring low. If you get into a game with the
- 22:32Speaker 6: Patriots where it's Jacoby Brissett versus Aaron Rodgers, literally the
- 22:37Speaker 6: Jets are gonna win that game. They might win that
- 22:39Speaker 6: game going away like that. That might be a blowout
- 22:43Speaker 6: if you get into that kind of game. The Patriots
- 22:45Speaker 6: want to run the ball, milk clock, shorten the game,
- 22:51Speaker 6: and win this game tomorrow night, sixteen to thirteen.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Yep.
- 22:53Speaker 6: Like that's exactly how they want to play the football game.
- 22:56Speaker 6: If I'm the opponent, I'm saying, well, you might win
- 23:00Speaker 6: a game like that against US. So you could win
- 23:02Speaker 6: a game like that against a good team.
- 23:04Speaker 5: You know why, if I were the Jets, I wouldn't
- 23:06Speaker 5: sit there and you know say, well I got to
- 23:09Speaker 5: take what they've given me. No. I would make them
- 23:10Speaker 5: make plays down the field and try to put points
- 23:12Speaker 5: on the board.
- 23:13Speaker 6: Yeah, agreed, All right, Well.
- 23:18Speaker 2: What do we think?
- 23:19Speaker 5: I don't know, you had a big I just want
- 23:21Speaker 5: to swim that was done?
- 23:22Speaker 3: Yet, do we have any of it. What happened now
- 23:24Speaker 3: Cocoa Cox was reporting not that, but swiming was done.
- 23:27Speaker 3: So I and now I'm not sure.
- 23:30Speaker 5: I'm going to try to be nice.
- 23:31Speaker 8: He wasn't at our game this weekend, No sway, the
- 23:34Speaker 8: whole team came out, he wasn't there.
- 23:37Speaker 6: I noted that. It's like looking at the picture like
- 23:41Speaker 6: swim and swim and sweat.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Do your hockey talk on your own?
- 23:44Speaker 3: Sorry?
- 23:44Speaker 2: All right? Eight five five Pats five hundred is the
- 23:46Speaker 2: eight ticket hotline web radio at pages dot com. It's
- 23:49Speaker 2: the email address. Remember we're going to be doing picks
- 23:52Speaker 2: uh in about at about twelve forty or so, because
- 23:55Speaker 2: Evan and I have to leave early, so I want
- 23:57Speaker 2: to get in some calls and emails before I leave
- 24:00Speaker 2: so I can I can take care of our listeners. Uh.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Justina is in North Carolina. What's up? Justina? Hi?
- 24:08Speaker 10: Everyone. I just want to say once, I know a
- 24:14Speaker 10: little bit about football. I never played football, but I
- 24:17Speaker 10: know he was just as a cheerleader and band and
- 24:19Speaker 10: all that, So I do know a little bit, but
- 24:21Speaker 10: I don't know the names of dispositions that well. But
- 24:26Speaker 10: I was thinking that I kind of feel started for
- 24:30Speaker 10: Jacoby because he.
- 24:35Speaker 11: He he I.
- 24:36Speaker 10: Feel like he's fighting for his life. I mean I
- 24:39Speaker 10: was at first, I was like, oh, oh, Dre, but
- 24:41Speaker 10: I just look at Kobe's personality. Seems like he's fighting
- 24:44Speaker 10: for its life and he's take it hits, and I
- 24:47Speaker 10: think he's if he's hurt, he's not gonna come out.
- 24:51Speaker 10: And that's kind of that's kind of you know, I'm
- 24:53Speaker 10: kind of sad about that, Yeah, because he knows if
- 24:57Speaker 10: Drake comes in, Drake may come in for a little
- 25:00Speaker 10: while and do better than him, And I think that
- 25:02Speaker 10: may feel like he may they may bench him. But
- 25:05Speaker 10: I kind of feel sorry for him in that respect.
- 25:08Speaker 10: It's kind of selfish. But at the same time, it's
- 25:11Speaker 10: kind of it's kind of like, you know, I feel
- 25:14Speaker 10: sorry for him.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Because I hear you Justina, Oh sorry about that.
- 25:18Speaker 5: No, I hear point.
- 25:20Speaker 2: It is a great point because but at the same time,
- 25:23Speaker 2: he knew what he was getting into when he came here.
- 25:25Speaker 2: You know, they were gonna you know, they had this
- 25:28Speaker 2: young kid, and he's a placeholder and he knows that.
- 25:31Speaker 2: But I hear what she's saying, you got that job,
- 25:33Speaker 2: you don't want to give it up. You're gonna like
- 25:36Speaker 2: you're gonna until like he has to be carted off.
- 25:39Speaker 2: He's not gonna come out of a game. And you know,
- 25:43Speaker 2: it gets back to the whole tour thing, you know,
- 25:45Speaker 2: like what's best for the player. But players want to
- 25:48Speaker 2: play and they're gonna do whatever they can to play.
- 25:50Speaker 2: This is what they know how to do. This is
- 25:53Speaker 2: what they did all their lives, and and you get
- 25:56Speaker 2: a situation like this, Justina is exactly right. If make
- 26:00Speaker 2: comes in and he does well as we hope he will,
- 26:04Speaker 2: he's never going to be taken out. That's it.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Evan had a good locker room stat last night with Jacobe.
- 26:09Speaker 3: I'll I can see you up to which one one
- 26:15Speaker 3: turnover worthy play?
- 26:16Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 26:17Speaker 6: Yeah, zero big time throws to one turnover worthy play.
- 26:20Speaker 6: So he's literally just doing managing the game.
- 26:23Speaker 3: Almost net neutral.
- 26:23Speaker 6: He's literally net neutral. He's fifteenth in the league and
- 26:28Speaker 6: EPA out of thirty one quarterback so he's literally smack
- 26:31Speaker 6: dab in the middle of the league right now in
- 26:34Speaker 6: terms of quarterback play. He doesn't make any plays and
- 26:36Speaker 6: he doesn't cost you any plays, and that's all it is.
- 26:39Speaker 6: And unfortunately they just have an offense that doesn't create
- 26:42Speaker 6: a lot of layups for the quarterback in the passing game,
- 26:45Speaker 6: Like if they were able to create some open guys
- 26:47Speaker 6: down the field, I think he would get him the ball.
- 26:48Speaker 6: But he's not going to make plays happen on his own,
- 26:52Speaker 6: and that's sort of where they're at.
- 26:53Speaker 3: That's why I think it's the turnovers. When the turnovers
- 26:55Speaker 3: start happened, and that's when the drum beat for Drake
- 26:57Speaker 3: will get loud and I think we'll all be on
- 26:59Speaker 3: board because if he starts turning the ball over, then
- 27:01Speaker 3: that whole Matt neutral thing is out the win.
- 27:03Speaker 8: Well, that's the thing. To this point, it's kind of
- 27:05Speaker 8: been a pleasant surprise how Jacobe's handled pressure, and I
- 27:08Speaker 8: feel like there should be way more turnovers at this point,
- 27:10Speaker 8: way more sacks that they've taken. And maybe it is
- 27:13Speaker 8: that element of he's playing to keep this job and
- 27:16Speaker 8: has a lot to prove the whole NFL. But in
- 27:20Speaker 8: my eyes, at least, I was way pleasantly surprised.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Well, like, maybe this is a kind of a question
- 27:25Speaker 2: for Evan, but anyone can answer, like this AVP offense,
- 27:29Speaker 2: isn't it supposed to be sort of like a West
- 27:30Speaker 2: Coast offense because it doesn't look like West Coast.
- 27:33Speaker 6: To me on third down, yeah, or like obvious passing situations. Sure,
- 27:38Speaker 6: but like everything that they run early down is based
- 27:40Speaker 6: off the run game. So like you their their run
- 27:42Speaker 6: run play action on first and second down. So this
- 27:46Speaker 6: is the modern West Coast. This is not Bill Walsh's
- 27:49Speaker 6: West Coast. It kind of is in the passing game
- 27:52Speaker 6: when they get into obvious you know, drop back pass,
- 27:55Speaker 6: but early downs this is you know, Shanahan Cleveland that
- 28:00Speaker 6: kind of stuff. Like this is outside zone. It's play action.
- 28:03Speaker 6: It's uh, you know, seven step drop from under center,
- 28:06Speaker 6: like they it's not what Joe Montana was running in
- 28:09Speaker 6: the eighties.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Type of you know, boom boom boom.
- 28:14Speaker 6: It's supposed to be yeah, yeah, right, it's supposed to
- 28:18Speaker 6: be an obvious past situations when they're straight drop back
- 28:21Speaker 6: and that's that's the idea that that's the whole left
- 28:24Speaker 6: foot forward thing and like all that kind of stuff
- 28:26Speaker 6: is all predicated on the timing of the offense. But
- 28:29Speaker 6: it's not. Their early down stuff is different from what
- 28:32Speaker 6: they were maybe doing.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Yeah, well you know, to me, that type of offense
- 28:36Speaker 2: requires guys that can get open on time.
- 28:39Speaker 6: Right, Yeah, like pop Douglas maybe, but you know, L from.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Wisconsin rights and I just wanted to give my take
- 28:46Speaker 2: on when May should start next week versus the forty
- 28:49Speaker 2: nine ers. Everything is going for it, long week of
- 28:52Speaker 2: preparation and on top of that, no expectations to win.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Throw five picks, best d in the league. He's fine,
- 28:59Speaker 2: we weren't gonna win in that game anyway. That that
- 29:03Speaker 2: lets him get experience under his belt from Miami, which
- 29:06Speaker 2: should be a winnable game with a backup quarterback.
- 29:09Speaker 6: Okay, I'm gonna startgainst the forty nine ers, Yeah, okay, right,
- 29:15Speaker 6: lower expectations.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I think unfortunately more and more if Jacoby
- 29:21Speaker 3: keeps getting hit like this, it's this is not going
- 29:23Speaker 3: to be a conversation we have too much longer because
- 29:25Speaker 3: he's going to be out.
- 29:27Speaker 5: I just wish I had more information on Drake, that's
- 29:30Speaker 5: all right? About his readiness?
- 29:33Speaker 2: Yeah, how's he doing when we don't see him like
- 29:36Speaker 2: in the in the in the quarterback room when they're
- 29:39Speaker 2: watching film. You know, how's how does it? You know,
- 29:43Speaker 2: what's his mental capacity?
- 29:46Speaker 5: And we should mention that that L just brought up
- 29:49Speaker 5: Miami officially to who was placed on ir so yeah,
- 29:53Speaker 5: you'll avoid him at least in the first matchup. We'll
- 29:56Speaker 5: see what happens long term with him in that concussion
- 30:00Speaker 5: in Poland.
- 30:01Speaker 2: So we faced the Bengals without Higgins, Seahawks without Walker,
- 30:04Speaker 2: Jets without the best pass rushers, forty nine ers without
- 30:08Speaker 2: CMC and Debo, and now Miami without Tua. I think
- 30:12Speaker 2: what Paul may have had something. I think that Paul
- 30:16Speaker 2: may have had something when he always said that we
- 30:18Speaker 2: always seem to catch the biggest breaks. If I'm Miami,
- 30:21Speaker 2: I'm making a call to Carolina right now and asking
- 30:24Speaker 2: about Bryce Young. What do you think are the odds
- 30:27Speaker 2: that may starts the London game. Before the season, it
- 30:30Speaker 2: seemed more than likely. Now it seems to be a
- 30:33Speaker 2: long shot.
- 30:33Speaker 6: There's a lot of questions, and one.
- 30:35Speaker 2: That's opposite for what El said. I mean, we are
- 30:37Speaker 2: getting breaks.
- 30:39Speaker 9: You know.
- 30:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:40Speaker 5: I just think they're the same as that you've gotten
- 30:42Speaker 5: pretty consistently the last couple of years. I mean for
- 30:45Speaker 5: a while. But you caught a lot of breaks the
- 30:47Speaker 5: last two years too and didn't take advantage of them.
- 30:49Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I I I mean Bryce Young is not
- 30:54Speaker 6: that's not happening, Like they just paid to two hundred
- 30:56Speaker 6: million dollars or something.
- 30:57Speaker 5: Well the only thing that like it wouldn't have and
- 31:00Speaker 5: like now, yeah, but if Tua decides to retire, maybe
- 31:03Speaker 5: then maybe that is something that McDaniel says, Hey, you know,
- 31:07Speaker 5: I can work with that and fix it. I would
- 31:10Speaker 5: be skeptical of that because I just.
- 31:12Speaker 3: Think, oh, it's take a while.
- 31:15Speaker 5: I think the speed, yeah, and I think that's and
- 31:18Speaker 5: then when just watching the offense, Miami's offense, it looks
- 31:21Speaker 5: like that's a lot there's a lot of stuff that
- 31:24Speaker 5: goes on in that, Like there's a lot of sort
- 31:26Speaker 5: of like I don't know, a lot of faking, a
- 31:31Speaker 5: lot of you know, carrying out on fakes, a lot
- 31:34Speaker 5: of Yeah, it could probably a better way to put it,
- 31:36Speaker 5: Like there's a lot of misdirection stuff that I don't
- 31:38Speaker 5: think you could just roll out of bed and know.
- 31:41Speaker 5: I'd be curious to see what it looks like with
- 31:43Speaker 5: Skylet Thompson this week for them for Miami, because I
- 31:46Speaker 5: know everybody thinks Tua sucks and you know, but they
- 31:50Speaker 5: tend to only win games when he plays. But in fairness,
- 31:54Speaker 5: I said that a lot about San Francisco when it
- 31:57Speaker 5: was Jimmy and they win more with brock Pery than
- 32:00Speaker 5: they did with Jimmy because all the other guys between
- 32:03Speaker 5: those two couldn't win any games. But it turns out
- 32:05Speaker 5: that was more of a C. J. Bethard slash Nick
- 32:08Speaker 5: Mullen's problem than it was anything that Garoppolo was doing.
- 32:12Speaker 6: I do wonder if the Patriots face Skyler Thompson, like,
- 32:15Speaker 6: maybe it's Ryan Tannehill, maybe it's you know, somebody like that.
- 32:19Speaker 6: A lot of those lines at that way.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Like Paul said, you're bringing in somebody, you know.
- 32:24Speaker 5: I thought it was interesting they brought in Huntley, Tyrone Huntley.
- 32:28Speaker 5: Evidently he is Tyler Tyler. What's his nickname?
- 32:33Speaker 6: Snoop snoops.
- 32:34Speaker 5: I didn't know someone someone on Twitter? Just but you know,
- 32:38Speaker 5: Snoop hunt Is that a thing?
- 32:40Speaker 6: Yes it is.
- 32:41Speaker 5: I got caught being, you know, fifty six again. I
- 32:44Speaker 5: just just went right over my head.
- 32:45Speaker 6: Again, sipping that gin and juice.
- 32:48Speaker 2: And in la. In regards to the Jacoby versus May conversation,
- 32:52Speaker 2: I think the two main objections to make playing right
- 32:56Speaker 2: now is one he doesn't know the system. In two,
- 32:59Speaker 2: the offensive line is too bad. He's gonna get hurt.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Would you agree if you do. I have two points
- 33:04Speaker 2: to prove how may should start in regards to him
- 33:07Speaker 2: not knowing the system? Does Jacoby know the system? I've
- 33:10Speaker 2: not seen someone who can skillfully operate this offense. And secondly,
- 33:14Speaker 2: I do not think this offense would work without heavy
- 33:16Speaker 2: play action. And I don't think the play action would
- 33:18Speaker 2: have work because there is an unwillingness from Jacoby to
- 33:21Speaker 2: throw down field, which leads me to the offensive line.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Would the pressure be less if the defense was getting
- 33:27Speaker 2: cooked by a quarterback who could stretch the field. I
- 33:30Speaker 2: have seen many missed receivers that are wide open deep.
- 33:35Speaker 2: If the field is condensed, the pressure will increase. Okay, well,
- 33:40Speaker 2: I think you're saying it's all about, you know, making
- 33:43Speaker 2: the offense look better.
- 33:45Speaker 6: I would strongly disagree with here that he's seen many
- 33:49Speaker 6: receivers who are wide open deep. There are some it's
- 33:52Speaker 6: an NFL game. There are gonna be sometimes that you
- 33:55Speaker 6: can watch the game and it's easy.
- 33:57Speaker 5: I you know, I belienus and you JT. O.
- 34:01Speaker 6: Sullivan always says that it's easy to with a clicker,
- 34:04Speaker 6: Like you can sit here with a clicker watching the
- 34:06Speaker 6: game back and say play target practice and say, oh
- 34:08Speaker 6: he should have hit this guy, that guy, this guy,
- 34:10Speaker 6: that guy. Like you when you don't know the progressions,
- 34:12Speaker 6: you don't know where his eyes are, you don't know
- 34:14Speaker 6: what he's feeling in the pocket. Like, it's really hard
- 34:17Speaker 6: to go out and say that there aren't a lot
- 34:20Speaker 6: of open receivers down the field. He is not a
- 34:22Speaker 6: risk taker. So when you combine those two things together,
- 34:26Speaker 6: he is not going to give a fifty to fifty
- 34:28Speaker 6: ball to Jalen Polk down the field because.
- 34:31Speaker 2: Sometimes you got to throw them open.
- 34:33Speaker 6: Evan, I don't disagree, and that's where the Drake May
- 34:36Speaker 6: conversation comes in. But that's where they're at right now.
- 34:39Speaker 6: Or there is not a lot of opportunities to push it,
- 34:42Speaker 6: and if he is going to push it, then he's
- 34:44Speaker 6: putting it in harm's way and he doesn't want to
- 34:46Speaker 6: do that, all right.
- 34:47Speaker 2: Jim and Virginia on the TPX Hotline. What's up, Jim.
- 34:53Speaker 11: Frank's good afternoon to the Pale. I have a follow
- 34:56Speaker 11: up questions to what you were just talking about. Thank you, Pad.
- 35:00Speaker 5: Some will success running the ball in the last two games,
- 35:02Speaker 5: and I really enjoyed seeing that, but they have they.
- 35:07Speaker 11: Have had no play action and I don't understand why not.
- 35:11Speaker 11: I'll listen to what you have to say.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Okay, thanks Jim. Why no play action?
- 35:16Speaker 5: I'm sure there are a lot of reasons. Mine is
- 35:20Speaker 5: is I don't feel like they have a lot of
- 35:22Speaker 5: faith in having him turn his back to it.
- 35:24Speaker 2: I was just gonna say, maybe they're worried about him
- 35:26Speaker 2: turning his back to the defense.
- 35:28Speaker 6: Yeah, there's a couple of factors, Like you'd have to
- 35:31Speaker 6: divvy up a pie, right Like I would say the
- 35:34Speaker 6: biggest one blame slice goes to the offensive line. They
- 35:38Speaker 6: just don't really have the blocking to hold up in
- 35:40Speaker 6: the play action game right now. Like there are times
- 35:43Speaker 6: where they play action and it works and then there's
- 35:45Speaker 6: pressure in his face and that causes issues on the throw.
- 35:48Speaker 6: I think the second thing is is that they, you
- 35:51Speaker 6: know Paul is talking about it earlier, these trends of
- 35:53Speaker 6: playing a lot of these two deep safety shelves. When
- 35:56Speaker 6: they dial up play action, they're seeing a lot of
- 35:58Speaker 6: split safety and that you're not going to attack the
- 36:02Speaker 6: deep part of the field when teams are playing those
- 36:04Speaker 6: types of coverages. And the last thing, he's missed some throws,
- 36:08Speaker 6: Like he has missed some throws here he had a
- 36:11Speaker 6: Jalen Polk on a cross or off of play action
- 36:13Speaker 6: on Sunday that you know wide right, you know those
- 36:16Speaker 6: types of throws do happen. But when you put all
- 36:18Speaker 6: those things together, it's where they're at. I would say
- 36:21Speaker 6: the biggest thing though, is they just can't block it.
- 36:23Speaker 6: Like play action takes time. You have to dry out
- 36:26Speaker 6: the you know, the run fake, You have to get
- 36:28Speaker 6: the fake off, you have to turn back around, you
- 36:30Speaker 6: have to get your eyes up the field and make
- 36:31Speaker 6: the throw. That can take three and a half four
- 36:34Speaker 6: seconds to do and they don't have that kind of time.
- 36:36Speaker 5: Yeah, And I would just say that, you know, the
- 36:38Speaker 5: numbers again in week two were very similar to Week
- 36:40Speaker 5: one in yards after contact for the running game. So like,
- 36:45Speaker 5: I know people are like, when you're running the ball this, well,
- 36:47Speaker 5: you should be able to play action. And we've talked
- 36:48Speaker 5: about this a lot. There's really not much of a
- 36:51Speaker 5: correlation between successful running in play action. You can play
- 36:55Speaker 5: action if you dial it up, you know, you time
- 36:57Speaker 5: it right, you get the right situations and what not.
- 37:00Speaker 5: But I would say that based on what I've seen
- 37:04Speaker 5: in two games, there's plenty of defenders around to make
- 37:07Speaker 5: these stops in the running game, they're like they're coming
- 37:09Speaker 5: into the backfield, you know, not unblocked, but quickly. So
- 37:14Speaker 5: if you're gonna consistently turn your back to the to
- 37:17Speaker 5: the defense and it's not a running play, well that's
- 37:20Speaker 5: not a tackle. You're breaking to get the yards on offense,
- 37:23Speaker 5: you're just going after the quarterback who's not knowing you're coming.
- 37:26Speaker 5: And I think Alex made the point earlier about being
- 37:29Speaker 5: pleasantly surprised at how many sacks per set is avoided.
- 37:32Speaker 5: I would agree with that. I think, what is it
- 37:35Speaker 5: like four sacks in two games. It's like it should
- 37:37Speaker 5: be at least double that.
- 37:38Speaker 6: So he's been sacked four times on twenty seven pressure dropbacks.
- 37:42Speaker 6: So he's eighth in the league in pressure to sacarate,
- 37:44Speaker 6: which is pretty good. I pressure to sacerates one of
- 37:47Speaker 6: those stats that I particularly like because it shows how
- 37:50Speaker 6: good quarterbacks are at handling pressure and avoiding sacks. And
- 37:55Speaker 6: he's eighth in the league. You know, guys, Caleb Williams
- 37:58Speaker 6: is dead last right, he takes a lot of sacks.
- 38:01Speaker 6: So very first play action drop back of the game
- 38:04Speaker 6: last week, they blits both corners off the edges and
- 38:07Speaker 6: he's like dead to rights in the pocket and he
- 38:09Speaker 6: somehow gets out and gets Hunter Henry on an offscript play,
- 38:12Speaker 6: Like he's made quite a bit of those types of
- 38:14Speaker 6: plays getting out of pressure, so he deserves credit for that.
- 38:18Speaker 2: All right. As I warned everyone, we're a little bit
- 38:22Speaker 2: out of sequence this game, this show. Because the team's
- 38:26Speaker 2: leaving for New Jersey. Evan and I are gonna have
- 38:28Speaker 2: to leave, but we want to get our picks in
- 38:30Speaker 2: while we're all here. So it is that time.
- 38:37Speaker 3: This was bad, wasn't it?
- 38:40Speaker 2: Last week was a disaster?
- 38:43Speaker 8: Was there seven or six upsets?
- 38:45Speaker 5: I was fine, really really bad? No, you didn't. Everybody
- 38:50Speaker 5: was really really bad. I was by by far the worst.
- 38:53Speaker 6: I don't know what's going on with Uncle Poly's.
- 38:56Speaker 5: As he puts on his classes. So the winner, Evan
- 39:02Speaker 5: is right, you know, he was the winner. I would
- 39:05Speaker 5: not be flexing over nine and seven mark. But however,
- 39:10Speaker 5: in a week two it was the best. That was terrible.
- 39:12Speaker 6: It's above five hundred Week two, followed.
- 39:15Speaker 5: By Alex and Fred at seven and nine. This is
- 39:19Speaker 5: overall seven and nine, followed by Mike at six and ten,
- 39:25Speaker 5: and Paul five and E left. Wow, how bad you
- 39:36Speaker 5: have to be to go five and eleven, just big
- 39:38Speaker 5: in the games.
- 39:40Speaker 3: Week two though you don't really know.
- 39:42Speaker 5: Embarrassing.
- 39:44Speaker 8: Week one and two hardest.
- 39:46Speaker 5: With a spread Alex, Alex and Evan with a spread
- 39:50Speaker 5: eight seven and one, followed by Mike and Fred seven
- 39:53Speaker 5: eight and one and Paul six nine and one. Terrible.
- 39:58Speaker 5: So here are the the overall standings. Mike and Alex
- 40:02Speaker 5: lead the way at nineteen and thirteen, followed by Evan
- 40:06Speaker 5: at eighteen and fourteen and Paul and Fred sixteen and
- 40:11Speaker 5: high five sixteen and sixteen. You've got to try to
- 40:16Speaker 5: be that's all right with the spread. Fred at least
- 40:21Speaker 5: responds with the spread, un like me. Eighteen twelve and two.
- 40:24Speaker 5: He's leading the way, followed by Evan at seventeen thirteen
- 40:27Speaker 5: and two, Mike sixteen fourteen and two, Alex fifteen fifteen
- 40:32Speaker 5: and two, and Paul thirteen seventeen and two.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Okay, so we got a lot of make it up
- 40:37Speaker 2: to do. Week three of us now we should all
- 40:41Speaker 2: have a.
- 40:41Speaker 5: Two twenty four of the Zaro picks content.
- 40:43Speaker 2: I'm expecting everyone to improve on those numbers this week.
- 40:47Speaker 5: We're gonna I make no promises, We're gonna skip.
- 40:49Speaker 6: Over the Patriots didn't even mention that I got the
- 40:52Speaker 6: exact score correct on the Patriots game as well.
- 40:56Speaker 2: I didn't.
- 40:56Speaker 5: I didn't mention that because I don't write it down.
- 40:58Speaker 2: It's not right.
- 40:59Speaker 8: Forget my score. I pick is instantly when I leave
- 41:02Speaker 8: this room.
- 41:02Speaker 6: Well, I didn't, because I got it right.
- 41:05Speaker 5: That's a that's a good point. I wouldn't. I wouldn't
- 41:07Speaker 5: forget it if.
- 41:07Speaker 2: I said seventeen sixteen Patriots, I was off.
- 41:12Speaker 6: Wrong twenty three Seahawks.
- 41:16Speaker 3: That is what the score was.
- 41:17Speaker 2: All right, Let's let's get to the one o'clock games
- 41:20Speaker 2: on Sunday on Fox. It's the zero to two Giants
- 41:24Speaker 2: at the one and one Browns.
- 41:26Speaker 5: Cleveland by six, six points.
- 41:32Speaker 3: I'm gonna take Cleveland to win at home, but I'm
- 41:33Speaker 3: gonna take those points from the from the Giants. This
- 41:35Speaker 3: Knabbers guy looked pretty good last week.
- 41:37Speaker 6: Eighteen targets.
- 41:38Speaker 8: We're gonna be close, but I'm gonna follow Deuce's lead.
- 41:44Speaker 6: So the Giants loss last week by scoring three touchdowns
- 41:48Speaker 6: to zero touchdowns for the opponent. Washington kicked seven field
- 41:52Speaker 6: goals and won that game, which is wild. I am
- 41:56Speaker 6: gonna take Cleveland as well, and I'm gonna do the
- 41:58Speaker 6: same thing as you guys. I'm gonna take Cleveland, but
- 42:00Speaker 6: I'm gonna take the Giants to cover.
- 42:05Speaker 5: I am going to take Cleveland. Both ways. Something not
- 42:11Speaker 5: right the Giants. There's a lot of bickering. I think
- 42:14Speaker 5: my boy Dable's hearing way too much. I don't like.
- 42:18Speaker 5: I don't like what's going on there.
- 42:20Speaker 6: Bad Mojo Ye bring him here, yep.
- 42:23Speaker 2: I'm with Paul Brown's both ways. I think the collapse
- 42:28Speaker 2: they they played. They had spirit last week. The Giants did,
- 42:33Speaker 2: but I think that's it. They're done. One o'clock on CBS,
- 42:37Speaker 2: the one and one Bears are at the oh to
- 42:40Speaker 2: two Colts.
- 42:42Speaker 5: Ind by one.
- 42:44Speaker 3: Oh tough one? Ah, what's that? What's that really? Though? Fred?
- 42:49Speaker 2: Well, they're minus two then plus two.
- 42:52Speaker 3: Well there you go. Tells ya Ally to know.
- 42:54Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 42:54Speaker 3: I'm gonna go Cleveland at home.
- 42:56Speaker 2: No Indies plus one, they get three, so they're minus two.
- 42:59Speaker 5: They're at home, so they they get three, right, right,
- 43:04Speaker 5: So it's really like they're plus two.
- 43:06Speaker 2: They should be four.
- 43:07Speaker 5: So if you're getting three, that means they're favored by one.
- 43:11Speaker 2: They're not getting it.
- 43:12Speaker 5: They are get they're giving points they're favored by one.
- 43:15Speaker 2: They didn't get the three.
- 43:19Speaker 5: If you could follow the nonsensical three points for the hotel,
- 43:23Speaker 5: what would the spread be if it was neutral.
- 43:24Speaker 6: Don't bring me into this anyone one.
- 43:27Speaker 3: Plus three because you get three points at home, you
- 43:30Speaker 3: would you're giving yeah, plus three plus two if it
- 43:34Speaker 3: was zero. I thought you get three at go three
- 43:36Speaker 3: at home.
- 43:37Speaker 5: He says you get three. It's not it doesn't exist.
- 43:40Speaker 5: But he insists that you get three at home.
- 43:42Speaker 3: That's a rule.
- 43:42Speaker 5: So they're favored by one.
- 43:45Speaker 3: Doesn't three minus three zero, So.
- 43:46Speaker 5: That would be minusing three.
- 43:48Speaker 2: You said it was zero, that would be you gotta hurry,
- 43:50Speaker 2: We gotta hurry, you gotta hurry.
- 43:53Speaker 10: What the.
- 43:57Speaker 5: Sorry? Indy by one, indoor turf game, Indy by.
- 44:03Speaker 3: One, Mike, Indie Indian I'll lay the points at home
- 44:07Speaker 3: against Kayleb Williams. I think, I don't know.
- 44:10Speaker 5: I don't feel great about it.
- 44:13Speaker 8: I also don't feel great about it, but Indie both ways.
- 44:18Speaker 6: I'm just gonna take Indy because they're at home. I
- 44:20Speaker 6: guess I don't know. I have any good feel for
- 44:22Speaker 6: this game at all. I think both these teams are
- 44:24Speaker 6: kind of mediocre. But I'm gonna go indie indie.
- 44:27Speaker 5: Yeah, I kind of liked a lot of what I
- 44:31Speaker 5: saw from from Williams in the first half of the
- 44:34Speaker 5: Houston game. But I'm gonna take I'm gonna take any.
- 44:36Speaker 2: I think this is a layup Colts easy, easy, confidence
- 44:40Speaker 2: CBS one o'clock two and O Texans at the two
- 44:44Speaker 2: and oh Vikings.
- 44:47Speaker 5: Houston by two and a half.
- 44:48Speaker 6: Sneaky good game.
- 44:49Speaker 3: Sneaky good game indeed, although you wouldn't have thought so
- 44:52Speaker 3: before last week. Not Minnesota win, but you know what,
- 44:56Speaker 3: I'm gonna go with Houston. I just didn't really impressed
- 44:58Speaker 3: with them. I think Minnesota falls back to earth a
- 45:01Speaker 3: little bit, but I'll I'll lay those two and a half.
- 45:04Speaker 5: Who you took Houston, Yes, please see I agree.
- 45:08Speaker 8: I think not necessarily a reality check for Minnesota, but
- 45:12Speaker 8: just bring him back down a little bit. Houston, Houston.
- 45:16Speaker 6: Yeah. I don't know about Justin Jefferson in this game.
- 45:19Speaker 6: Looks like his status is somewhat questionable. But I'm gonna
- 45:22Speaker 6: go Houston Houston too. I think Minnesota's it's been nice
- 45:25Speaker 6: with Sam Darnold, but eventually they gotta come to roost.
- 45:28Speaker 5: Yeah, and Jordan Addison didn't finish that previous game either.
- 45:31Speaker 5: I don't know what his status is, but I also
- 45:34Speaker 5: I'm gonna take Houston both ways. The Viking's huge win,
- 45:39Speaker 5: you know, against the Niners. Kind of hard to to
- 45:43Speaker 5: ratchet it back up. But Minnesota has been impressive.
- 45:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna take the Texas, but I will take
- 45:47Speaker 2: those points. So close game in Minnesota, nail biter Fox
- 45:53Speaker 2: at one o'clock, the one and one Eagles are at
- 45:56Speaker 2: the two and oh Saints.
- 45:57Speaker 5: How about them? Saints? New Orleans by two and half for.
- 46:00Speaker 6: Derek Carr, thank you, Alvin Camira.
- 46:03Speaker 3: Saints by two and a half. Correct, Yeah, I'm gonna
- 46:06Speaker 3: do it. I'm gonna do New Orleans at home. Keep
- 46:09Speaker 3: the train rolling Philadelphia some questions. I don't know. This
- 46:11Speaker 3: happened last year, right like they started losing some games
- 46:14Speaker 3: and they just started games still later. I know it's
- 46:16Speaker 3: starting earlier this year. I think I'll take New Orleans
- 46:19Speaker 3: and later points.
- 46:22Speaker 8: I'm gonna take Philly. I'm going to give New Orleans
- 46:24Speaker 8: the points.
- 46:27Speaker 6: Nick Sirianni on full fraud watch, so.
- 46:29Speaker 5: You know New Orleans is favored. So you're taking Philly.
- 46:32Speaker 8: Oh not on mine? Okay, Sorry, sorry.
- 46:36Speaker 5: We go by Draft Kings. That is our sponsor, Draft Kings.
- 46:39Speaker 8: Well today I'm going by Crown.
- 46:40Speaker 3: Yours, so trying to screw the Alex up.
- 46:43Speaker 8: All right, repeat it one more time for me.
- 46:46Speaker 5: New Orleans is favored by two and a half.
- 46:48Speaker 8: Hurry, okay, yeah, I'll take Philly.
- 46:53Speaker 6: I'm taking clink koobiak and the Saints just lighting it
- 46:56Speaker 6: up on the scoreboard, Saints Saints.
- 46:58Speaker 5: So I'm gonna take Philly to win out right. But
- 47:02Speaker 5: the Saints offensive start worries me against that defense, which
- 47:06Speaker 5: looked really, really shaky. But I'm gonna take Philly to
- 47:08Speaker 5: bounce back. I think they're better, but yeah, I'm not
- 47:11Speaker 5: sure they are.
- 47:12Speaker 2: I agree Philly's gonna have a roller coaster season. This
- 47:15Speaker 2: is they'll bounce back and they'll win this one. One
- 47:18Speaker 2: o'clock on CBS. Yeah, he's he's got some making up
- 47:21Speaker 2: to do. One o'clock on CBS, The two and oh
- 47:24Speaker 2: Chargers at the two and oh Steelers.
- 47:27Speaker 5: Steelers by one and a half.
- 47:29Speaker 3: Jeez, Steelers. Do you guys see Harbaugh like pumping up
- 47:33Speaker 3: the Steelers. It's kind of funny. He's a character man.
- 47:35Speaker 3: He's a little weird, like he's a lot weird.
- 47:38Speaker 2: Yeah, he's not a little weird.
- 47:39Speaker 3: It's a long spectrum, a little bit like just I
- 47:41Speaker 3: don't know, but I like him.
- 47:42Speaker 5: I like you can say that it's the vibe I got.
- 47:46Speaker 3: But I'm gonna take the Chargers on the road on
- 47:48Speaker 3: a big upset. I like what he had to say.
- 47:50Speaker 3: I believe in him.
- 47:51Speaker 8: I am too. I'm drinking the kool aid.
- 47:54Speaker 6: I'm not drinking the kool aid. And I think both
- 47:56Speaker 6: these teams play football against nineteen fifty but.
- 47:59Speaker 5: Could not more.
- 48:00Speaker 6: I'm going I'm going with the Chargers though, just because
- 48:03Speaker 6: I think they have the better quarterback.
- 48:05Speaker 5: Yeah, and I think I'm gonna take the Chargers as well.
- 48:08Speaker 5: I think this would be one of those like Pittsburgh
- 48:11Speaker 5: the last couple of years has been in a pattern
- 48:13Speaker 5: where no one expects anything out of them. They win
- 48:16Speaker 5: a couple of games, people get excited, then they lose
- 48:18Speaker 5: inexplicably at home to teams that they feel the Patriots. Yeah,
- 48:21Speaker 5: you know, that would be a perfect example. I think
- 48:24Speaker 5: the Chargers are a little better. I like Evan's point
- 48:26Speaker 5: about the quarterback. I'll take the Chargers me too. I'm
- 48:29Speaker 5: taking the Charges as well. I'm surprised.
- 48:31Speaker 2: All right, one o'clock Fox, the oh and two Broncos
- 48:34Speaker 2: are at the two and zero Buccaneers.
- 48:37Speaker 5: The Baker Mayfields by six and a half.
- 48:40Speaker 3: Definitely gonna take Tampa in this one. Just a question
- 48:43Speaker 3: of if it's close or not.
- 48:46Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 48:46Speaker 3: I just wonder with Sean what's his face? The coach now, Peyton.
- 48:51Speaker 5: Sean, what's his face? That's the kind of analysis you
- 48:55Speaker 5: can get only on Patriots.
- 48:57Speaker 8: Sean what's his name?
- 48:58Speaker 3: Play played Tampa a lot, so familiar with the team,
- 49:01Speaker 3: the area, but I don't think it's in the area.
- 49:04Speaker 5: You knows what Mon's venus is.
- 49:05Speaker 6: I mean, you know what, I'm gonna dinner spot the
- 49:08Speaker 6: night before.
- 49:08Speaker 5: The bakes Tampa.
- 49:11Speaker 8: Baker Bakes, Tampa wins, and I'll give done for the points.
- 49:20Speaker 6: This is a dad survivor Pool picked this week. He's
- 49:23Speaker 6: too and oh his friends are starting to ask questions
- 49:26Speaker 6: about who's actually making the picks. And I am taking
- 49:30Speaker 6: Tampa both ways because I think Todd Bowles against bow
- 49:33Speaker 6: Nicks is gonna have a field day.
- 49:36Speaker 5: Yeah. I thought about taking the points like Alex did,
- 49:39Speaker 5: but I think you know they got They're gonna get hot,
- 49:42Speaker 5: you know, and then they're gonna fall behind and he's
- 49:45Speaker 5: gonna make more mistakes. So I'm gonna lay the points
- 49:47Speaker 5: Tampa both ways, so you'll lay in the point. Correct,
- 49:51Speaker 5: that's what I said. I'm gonna lay the points Tampa
- 49:53Speaker 5: both ways. It's exactly what I just said.
- 49:55Speaker 2: So so Tampa will win by more than six.
- 49:59Speaker 5: Yes, that's Tampa both ways. Would indicate that Tampa will
- 50:03Speaker 5: win more than the spread.
- 50:04Speaker 2: Buccaneers win, but I'm gonna take the points, which means
- 50:08Speaker 2: they're not going to win.
- 50:10Speaker 5: Everybody besides you knows them. Okay, that's what it means.
- 50:13Speaker 2: All right, Baker Banks Sunday at one on Fox, the
- 50:19Speaker 2: one and one Packers are at the zero to two Titans.
- 50:24Speaker 5: Uh, Titans by three.
- 50:30Speaker 3: I didn't catch any of this game Green Bay Games.
- 50:32Speaker 5: So you guys follow this stuff probably a little bit
- 50:36Speaker 5: more closely. Like Jordan Love was legitimately a possibility last week,
- 50:42Speaker 5: he was, but not really.
- 50:45Speaker 3: Okay, Yeah, so this is tennes This would be the
- 50:48Speaker 3: Milik Willis revenge game, right, that would be, but it's
- 50:51Speaker 3: not because I'm gonna take I don't even know why
- 50:54Speaker 3: we'll we'll Levi's I'm gonna take will Levi's at home. Uh,
- 50:57Speaker 3: stop throwing dumb picks, fumose mistakes.
- 51:01Speaker 5: How about you here, Brian Callaghan.
- 51:03Speaker 6: I loved it.
- 51:04Speaker 5: What are you doing?
- 51:04Speaker 2: Oh that one?
- 51:05Speaker 6: What the effort you do?
- 51:07Speaker 5: But then they asked them about it after he made
- 51:09Speaker 5: the same mistake that he made last week. We talked
- 51:10Speaker 5: about it.
- 51:11Speaker 3: He did the same exactly like I love it, air repeater.
- 51:15Speaker 3: Why am I taking Tennessee? I don't know. Give me Tennessee.
- 51:17Speaker 8: I love getting like a really bad lip reading f
- 51:22Speaker 8: bomb on national television. Tennessee gets their first one at home.
- 51:27Speaker 6: So will Levis make some of the worst turner of
- 51:31Speaker 6: us in the league. And they also had a block
- 51:33Speaker 6: punt in that game too. That both games. Yeah, that
- 51:37Speaker 6: kept the Jets, you know, in that game, and let
- 51:39Speaker 6: Rogers do his thing. I'm taking the Packers. They they
- 51:42Speaker 6: did exactly what I expected him to do with Malik,
- 51:45Speaker 6: just manage the game. Run the ball. They think they
- 51:47Speaker 6: ran for two hundred and sixty yards against Indy. I
- 51:50Speaker 6: think they do it again.
- 51:51Speaker 5: Yeah, this will be the last one. I'm going to
- 51:53Speaker 5: give you one more chance. I'm going to take Tennessee.
- 51:57Speaker 5: This would be the last time. I doubt Green Bay
- 51:59Speaker 5: without the quarterback. Maybe the quarterback is meaningless. We'll see
- 52:03Speaker 5: you can do it again.
- 52:04Speaker 2: I'm gonna go with the Packers. I think they're gonna
- 52:07Speaker 2: come back and win this game. Titans are not a
- 52:11Speaker 2: good team. Four oh five. We're gonna move to the
- 52:14Speaker 2: afternoon games, late afternoon games, but first. As easy as
- 52:19Speaker 2: that transition is, so is bud Light. It's easy to drink,
- 52:22Speaker 2: it's easy to enjoy. Bud Light is the official beer
- 52:25Speaker 2: sponsor of the New England Patriots. And we got a
- 52:27Speaker 2: new read for Bob's I'm very excited. Are you getting
- 52:31Speaker 2: ready for a marathon game day watch party? Make sure
- 52:34Speaker 2: you're well rested with a brand new mattress from Bob's
- 52:38Speaker 2: Discount Furniture, So I guess you're gonna be doing this
- 52:40Speaker 2: watch party in your bed. But anyway, when you dare
- 52:43Speaker 2: to compare Bob's top rated signature mattresses, cutting edge Bobbo
- 52:47Speaker 2: pedic technology, and every day low prices, and I'm talking
- 52:51Speaker 2: about over one thousand dollars less than the competition, you
- 52:55Speaker 2: can sleep well knowing that you've snagged a winning combination
- 52:58Speaker 2: of top of the line feature in unbeatable values. So
- 53:02Speaker 2: stop in and see how much you can save when
- 53:04Speaker 2: you dare to compare with Bob's Discount Furniture, the official
- 53:07Speaker 2: furniture store of the New England Patriots. All right, so
- 53:11Speaker 2: four or five on CBS, the oh to two Panthers
- 53:14Speaker 2: are at the one and one Raiders.
- 53:18Speaker 6: How about them Raiders?
- 53:19Speaker 5: Raiders by five and a half.
- 53:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm taking the Raiders on this one. I feel
- 53:23Speaker 3: like this is a bad matchup. Carolina stinks, Andy Dalton,
- 53:27Speaker 3: are we.
- 53:27Speaker 2: All taking the Rugbie party?
- 53:29Speaker 5: I'm taking Carolina.
- 53:30Speaker 3: Oh okay, yeah, give me give me Vegas.
- 53:33Speaker 2: All right, so you're taking Vegas evan plane to catch
- 53:38Speaker 2: yeah kind.
- 53:40Speaker 6: Of Raiders Raiders. I'll stop giving my spiel.
- 53:44Speaker 5: I am gonna take the Panthers because I don't trust
- 53:47Speaker 5: the Raiders and bry is not playing. Yeah, I'm gonna
- 53:51Speaker 5: take the upset on the Wow.
- 53:52Speaker 2: Okay, good that he's trying to make up grounded moves.
- 53:54Speaker 2: That's a ball nowhere moves. Now I'll take the Raiders
- 53:57Speaker 2: as well. Both ways, Four or five CBS, one in
- 54:01Speaker 2: one Dolphins at the two and oh Seahawks.
- 54:05Speaker 5: Seattle by four and a half.
- 54:06Speaker 6: Skylett Thompson, who.
- 54:10Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's tough. I always like Seattle at home.
- 54:13Speaker 3: Uh Gino. Smith played amazing last week. Can he do
- 54:16Speaker 3: it again? Is it sustainable? I'm not sure, but I'm
- 54:20Speaker 3: gonna take Seattle. I'll take them at home. Just give
- 54:22Speaker 3: them the quick change for Miami this week.
- 54:24Speaker 8: Seattle Seattle.
- 54:27Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm taking Seattle both ways. That seat on Mike
- 54:29Speaker 6: McDaniel's getting a little toasty.
- 54:32Speaker 5: Just signed a huge extension, so I think he's fine
- 54:34Speaker 5: with that. I'm gonna take Seattle to win, but I
- 54:37Speaker 5: will take the points.
- 54:38Speaker 2: Oh okay, I'm gonna take Seattle both ways. Four to
- 54:43Speaker 2: twenty five on Fox, the one in one Lions at
- 54:46Speaker 2: the one in one Cardinals. What did I say about
- 54:48Speaker 2: the Cardinals offense last week? The del Rio They said
- 54:52Speaker 2: they'll be top five?
- 54:53Speaker 3: Oh okay, they look good.
- 54:55Speaker 5: Are scoring points, Marves Marve Detroit by two and a half, Detroit.
- 55:00Speaker 3: It's a good game. It's a good afternoon watcher. I
- 55:05Speaker 3: just I can't believe. I can't buy in just yet
- 55:08Speaker 3: to Kyler Murray and we lookedreat last week. But I'm
- 55:09Speaker 3: gonna take Detoys on the road. I'll lay the points.
- 55:14Speaker 8: Kyler has been making me eat my words, so I'm
- 55:16Speaker 8: gonna pick Detroit to win, but I'm in. I think
- 55:18Speaker 8: it's a close game. I think Arizona's frisky.
- 55:23Speaker 6: I'm taking the Cardinals in this game. I just don't
- 55:25Speaker 6: really like some of the coaching I'm seeing from the
- 55:28Speaker 6: Lions and Drew pettsing learned the name Cardinals offensive coordinator
- 55:32Speaker 6: good at his job, type dance.
- 55:34Speaker 5: He is a type Pans guy. I'm gonna take the
- 55:37Speaker 5: Lions to bounce back. I agree with Evan though they
- 55:40Speaker 5: run the ball too much. They got to stop that.
- 55:42Speaker 5: It's keeping the points down. Lions both ways though.
- 55:45Speaker 2: Taking the Cardinals. Taking the Cardinals.
- 55:47Speaker 6: See Dan Campbell like crying at the postgame press conference
- 55:51Speaker 6: because he messed up.
- 55:51Speaker 10: In the half.
- 55:52Speaker 5: He cost his team again. Yeah, so I don't blame him,
- 55:54Speaker 5: but tell me he's a meathead. What are you gonna do?
- 55:58Speaker 2: On Fox? Almost Ravens are at the one in one Cowboys.
- 56:03Speaker 5: Okay, So this was the spread that kind of raised
- 56:06Speaker 5: my eyebrows the most this week. Baltimore by one and
- 56:08Speaker 5: a half.
- 56:09Speaker 2: I'm not surprised.
- 56:12Speaker 3: I am a little bit two at Dallas.
- 56:17Speaker 5: That was one of the best home teams in the league,
- 56:19Speaker 5: even though they lost last week.
- 56:20Speaker 3: You do your little rant on Dallas? What is it
- 56:22Speaker 3: this week? Last week you nailed Dallas, although you didn't
- 56:24Speaker 3: pick Dallas.
- 56:26Speaker 5: Because I was so don't be me.
- 56:28Speaker 3: I know this week, what would happen? What would Dallas
- 56:30Speaker 3: do this week? Share your kid a second, I'm going Dallas, Dallas.
- 56:38Speaker 5: I don't have a theory this week plus one point
- 56:41Speaker 5: plus one and a half.
- 56:44Speaker 8: I'm going to take a Baltimore bounce back, and so
- 56:48Speaker 8: I will give them the points because there's not money.
- 56:51Speaker 6: I just can't imagine the Ravens starting going three.
- 56:54Speaker 5: It's just so hard behind this pick.
- 56:58Speaker 6: It's my only logic too, because I'm a Paul at
- 57:00Speaker 6: Dallas at home is usually a monster.
- 57:02Speaker 5: I just they're too good off a loss. They're too
- 57:05Speaker 5: good to be oh and three. Yeah, And for that reason,
- 57:07Speaker 5: I'm taking the Ravens. I can't imagine the desperation right
- 57:11Speaker 5: now in that building. I agree, I will take them,
- 57:13Speaker 5: but that's what funny spread to me.
- 57:15Speaker 2: I can't imagine them on and three all right, four
- 57:17Speaker 2: to twenty five on Fox, the one on one forty
- 57:20Speaker 2: nine ers are at the oh and two Rams.
- 57:23Speaker 5: You can sign seal deliver the Rams season. I talk
- 57:26Speaker 5: about just self destruction before you even get started. The
- 57:29Speaker 5: whole team is out, like for an extended period of time,
- 57:32Speaker 5: to the point where on ESPN they were talking about
- 57:35Speaker 5: trading staffords to the Raiders. Did you hear that? Yes,
- 57:39Speaker 5: mean the Times, and like I first heard it and
- 57:41Speaker 5: I was like, that's what And then I was like,
- 57:43Speaker 5: you know what. She convinced me. She's got the Rams.
- 57:48Speaker 5: You know, no receivers, no offensive lineman other than that,
- 57:51Speaker 5: you know, they have an old quarterback who can't move anymore.
- 57:53Speaker 3: That was the play.
- 57:54Speaker 5: Yeah, San Francisco seven point faces on the road.
- 57:57Speaker 6: This is hospital San Francisco too, though, Like both teams
- 58:00Speaker 6: are just decimated.
- 58:02Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's why I'm gonna take San Francisco to win.
- 58:04Speaker 3: But I'm gonna I'm gonna take those points for the Rams.
- 58:06Speaker 3: I just think it'll be a little close to them.
- 58:08Speaker 5: And San Francisco owns the Rams.
- 58:10Speaker 3: Yeah, and there we go.
- 58:12Speaker 5: I like where it is, you know, I like to
- 58:13Speaker 5: give you my little uh who owns my NFC West
- 58:17Speaker 5: Trends Niners, Niners.
- 58:21Speaker 6: I'm taking the forty nine ers per usual, but I
- 58:23Speaker 6: will take the Rams to cover because both these teams
- 58:26Speaker 6: are banged up. So I just don't know.
- 58:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm gonna take the Niners both ways. I don't
- 58:32Speaker 5: think the Rams have any ability to put any points
- 58:34Speaker 5: in the board without what six starters on offense?
- 58:37Speaker 2: Yeah, Sturty with Purty forty nine ers both ways. All right,
- 58:41Speaker 2: Now we move to eight twenty Sunday Night on NBC
- 58:44Speaker 2: and Universo the two and zero Chiefs are at the
- 58:48Speaker 2: one and one.
- 58:49Speaker 5: Falcon City in primetime.
- 58:51Speaker 6: You never see that way too much Atlanta in primetime,
- 58:54Speaker 6: Like I don't need to see the Falcons, Like, can
- 58:55Speaker 6: they prove something before we send all of them?
- 58:58Speaker 8: It was so fun at the end, it was I enjoyed.
- 59:02Speaker 5: That Fred just ran out of the room. Kansas City
- 59:07Speaker 5: by three and a half.
- 59:09Speaker 3: Do I have to slow play this one?
- 59:10Speaker 7: Was?
- 59:10Speaker 5: No? No later, because I catch it.
- 59:13Speaker 3: I'll get it in post because I'm I'm going Kansas City.
- 59:16Speaker 3: That's my rule until further notice, always taking Kansas City.
- 59:20Speaker 8: Until they burned me, Chiefs.
- 59:21Speaker 6: Chiefs, until they stopped getting all the calls. I'm going
- 59:24Speaker 6: to go to the chiefs Chiefs.
- 59:26Speaker 5: So okay, I just ask it just and this is
- 59:27Speaker 5: a serious question. No, no, no, no, no, because I'm conducting the poll,
- 59:31Speaker 5: because I had I had a conversation with someone about this. No, no, no,
- 59:35Speaker 5: there's one play I want to I want to know
- 59:36Speaker 5: your opinion. I don't care about any of the other plays.
- 59:39Speaker 5: I have another rant on on something else, but I'll
- 59:42Speaker 5: say it for another time. The fourth and sixteen passing appearance.
- 59:45Speaker 5: Do you think that was a good call or a
- 59:46Speaker 5: bad call?
- 59:47Speaker 6: Correct call by the rule?
- 59:48Speaker 5: Okay, that's all I need time at all. I had
- 59:51Speaker 5: someone tell me it was a terrible call. There was
- 59:53Speaker 5: no contact. Right, the defensive back has the right to
- 59:55Speaker 5: the ball. I would I said, I can no longer
- 59:57Speaker 5: be part of this conversation, and we did not argue
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: about it for one second.
- 1:00:01Speaker 6: I would.
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: With the game on the line, I would argue I
- 1:00:05Speaker 5: would rather that the moron for Cincinnati just say I
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: don't need to do this. It's fourth and sixteen. I'm
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: going to make sure that I knocked the ball down
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: instead of trying to take the guy's head off. That's
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: what I would rather have. But that's me so Kansas
- 1:00:21Speaker 5: City both ways. Yes, I'm going to take Kansas City.
- 1:00:25Speaker 5: But Kansas City tends to lay some eggs in spots
- 1:00:29Speaker 5: that you don't expect them to. I think this is
- 1:00:30Speaker 5: a tougher game than people think. I'll take the points.
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: I think the Falcons are frisky, though they've shown a
- 1:00:35Speaker 5: little bit. Kansas City by three and a half.
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: Kansas City both ways. Okay, yep, sorry.
- 1:00:41Speaker 5: About my good job slow playing that you got you
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: got Freddy back in the sea.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: Drank the whole thing a Gatorade.
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: Yeah, you guys are running out.
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: I drank a whole thing at Gatorade and with my prostate,
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: it was in me and it had to come out.
- 1:00:55Speaker 5: I had that earlier.
- 1:00:58Speaker 6: I was worried. Honestly, I'm glad it's all.
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: Okay, No, we're good. Monday Nights, Monday Night doubleheader on
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: Monday Night. I love the first ones at seven thirty
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: on ESPN and ESPN Deportes, the oh and two Jaguars
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: are at the two and oher Bills.
- 1:01:17Speaker 5: Buffalo by five. I just hate that it's in a
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: week that it's a red zone Sunday. You know you're
- 1:01:22Speaker 5: taking the game away from me. But Buffalo by five.
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I doubted Buffalo last week against Miami. Sorry, guys,
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: I'm an idiot for that one. I'm going back with Buffalo.
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: Josh Allen look really good.
- 1:01:34Speaker 5: MVP Buffalo Buffalo.
- 1:01:40Speaker 6: I'm going Buffalo both ways. My Josh Allen m VP
- 1:01:44Speaker 6: pick is looking fantastic right now. Did you put money
- 1:01:46Speaker 6: on that might be the best quarterback in the league. Sorry,
- 1:01:50Speaker 6: argue with you, mama.
- 1:01:52Speaker 5: I'm gonna take Buffalo to win. I'm gonna take the points.
- 1:01:54Speaker 5: Jacksonville tends to play Buffalo tough. They've beaten him. I
- 1:01:58Speaker 5: know in London they.
- 1:01:59Speaker 6: Beat him Atuple years ago, like nine to six or something.
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: So we'll see if they and they beat him definitely
- 1:02:03Speaker 5: in Jacksonville. Yeah, yeah, So I'm going to see if
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: they can keep it close in Buffalo.
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: The window was closing in Buffalo. But there go three
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: and oh they win both ways.
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: Which is not contradictory at all.
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: Eight point fifteen on ABC and ESPN plus the one
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: and one Commanders are at the oh to two.
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: Bengals Cincintanti by seven and a half.
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: It's a big number. I feel like Cincinnati is back
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: against the wall. Let one get away last week. They've
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: got to be sick of their stomachs about it being
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: oh and to Jamar Chase getting in shape, maybe starting
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: to come along. I'm not sure Hagen status is he
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: is he knocking on the door yet not yet, doesn't matter.
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: I'm going with Cincinnati, but I will take the points
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: for Washington. I think it'll be a close one.
- 1:02:51Speaker 6: You never know what the extra day, you know, I
- 1:02:52Speaker 6: could help.
- 1:02:53Speaker 8: Yeah, I think it's I won't call it a must
- 1:02:56Speaker 8: win for Cincinnati, but they really got to win and
- 1:02:59Speaker 8: then also give oh yeah, same way as commanders that
- 1:03:04Speaker 8: the points.
- 1:03:05Speaker 6: I'm going Cincinnati both ways. I think they get right.
- 1:03:07Speaker 6: But I do think Jayden Daniels looks well, looks good
- 1:03:10Speaker 6: and like put some highlights out there. But like Cincinnati, Yeah,
- 1:03:13Speaker 6: I am with Evan.
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: I think it is kind of a must win for Cincinnati,
- 1:03:18Speaker 5: and I think they blow doors off. I don't think
- 1:03:20Speaker 5: Washington's looked very good.
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you got a pissed off Burrow. You know,
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: as much as that pass interference call hurt them, so
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: did his fumble. So he's got some making up to do,
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: like what's his name Barkley does for the Giants. So
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: I'm going with the Bengals both ways. Now we go
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: back to Thursday night, all the way back to Thursday
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: night on Prime Video. The one and one Patriots are
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: at the one and one Jets for their home opener.
- 1:03:54Speaker 5: Jets by six and a half.
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I just I think it's a tough spot for
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: the Pats. I you know, losing Bentley sure doesn't help.
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: I think that they'll try to push the ball down
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: the field. I just I don't have confidence that they're
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: going to be able to do it. I think it'll
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: be a close game they'll like these Thursday night divisional
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: games usually are, except for last week when Miami got
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: their doors blown off. But I'm going to go Jets
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: for the win. I'll take the Patriots plus six point five.
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: To keep it close, I'll say Jets twenty one to sixteen.
- 1:04:24Speaker 8: I'm taking the Jets both ways, twenty four fourteen.
- 1:04:29Speaker 6: I'm going to take the Jets, but low scoring, close
- 1:04:33Speaker 6: game rock Fight Style sixteen thirteen New York. But I
- 1:04:38Speaker 6: actually don't mind the Patriots in this game. I'm not
- 1:04:41Speaker 6: one hundred percent sure Rogers is Rogers of old, and
- 1:04:46Speaker 6: I don't hate the spot for the Patriots. But what
- 1:04:49Speaker 6: I don't like is the short week and then the travel.
- 1:04:52Speaker 6: You just lose so much time as the road team
- 1:04:54Speaker 6: on these Thursday night games that I do worry about that.
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: Yeah, I see it a lot like Mike and Evan do.
- 1:05:01Speaker 5: I have the Jets winning the game. I'm going to
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: keep the Patriots within the spread twenty to sixteen. If
- 1:05:08Speaker 5: if there was a little bit more that I've seen
- 1:05:10Speaker 5: from Rogers, I probably would would lay the points. But
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: I just I don't think the Jets offense has been
- 1:05:16Speaker 5: anything special. Patriots the offense obviously hasn't been anything special.
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: So someone once told me, if you see a trend,
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: you should stick to the trend, And we've seen a
- 1:05:26Speaker 5: pattern of the way the Patriots games have unfolded, and
- 1:05:28Speaker 5: I think it'll be similar.
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I just mar you know, I'm saying Jets twenty seventeen.
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: But even then, I'm a little worried that the Patriots
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: can even muster seventeen. I think, you know, we haven't
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: seen anything from this offense yet that can kind of
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: gives you hope that they're going to break out. This
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: isn't going to be the game if they ever do.
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: With Jacobe in there. I also think that this is
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: the first short week for this regime, and I think
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: it makes a difference having that short week with the
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: new coaching staff and everything kind of is a little
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: bit more disruptive than it would have been otherwise. So
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: you add up those things and look, I think the
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: Patriot are gonna do well to keep it close. Let's
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: put it that way, all right. So that's the picks
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: for this week. See if we can do better than
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: last week. Evan and I are gonna call it a
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: day as far as the show goes, we're gonna head
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: over to the bus. Alex Paul Induce will bring you
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: through the rest of the show. So right now we'll
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: take a break and when we come back, you'll be

- 1:07:56Speaker 13: Everyone could focus on the perfect opening night. Where now
- 1:08:01Speaker 13: mean's next for residential delivery?
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: Only? What's it like?
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: This called the process of basically like doing heavy walkthrough
- 1:08:09Speaker 4: and mental rep.
- 1:08:10Speaker 14: Yeah no, it's not my first time doing this, but uh,
- 1:08:13Speaker 14: you know a lot of excitement going into Thursday night
- 1:08:15Speaker 14: game quick turn around. You know all the players energies up, coaches,
- 1:08:19Speaker 14: player energies up, so uh you know, we're excited for
- 1:08:21Speaker 14: this opportunity. That's it.
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: Is it hard to make.
- 1:08:27Speaker 14: Corrections during the week, I wouldn't say hard. I mean
- 1:08:30Speaker 14: it's just part of the NFL. You know, obviously you
- 1:08:33Speaker 14: keep back that up a little bit. Obviously, you uh,
- 1:08:36Speaker 14: you know, you can't get all of the reps that
- 1:08:38Speaker 14: you probably will want. But I think you get to
- 1:08:40Speaker 14: walk through reps and you kind of you know, talk
- 1:08:42Speaker 14: through a lot of things that happened throughout the game
- 1:08:44Speaker 14: and you know, things that we are trying to do
- 1:08:46Speaker 14: this game. So I think it's a little bit.
- 1:08:48Speaker 9: Sure of both said yesterday, I believe that you guys
- 1:08:53Speaker 9: really need to fully some pushing the ball down the
- 1:08:55Speaker 9: field as an offense. Do you feel confident that there's
- 1:08:58Speaker 9: gonna be something different that you're able to do as
- 1:09:00Speaker 9: an offense in this game against THEE.
- 1:09:02Speaker 14: Yeah, I mean, uh, yeah, that's the plan, you know,
- 1:09:07Speaker 14: you know, trying to get more guys involved, for sure,
- 1:09:09Speaker 14: But yeah, how much more.
- 1:09:11Speaker 4: Are you able to expand the playbook with such a
- 1:09:14Speaker 4: short week to work with a game plan?
- 1:09:17Speaker 5: I don't think it's that hard.
- 1:09:18Speaker 14: I think we got stuff in that that can accomplish
- 1:09:21Speaker 14: all of those goals. So I don't think it's that hard.
- 1:09:23Speaker 15: You're literally being a former player as your coach. The
- 1:09:26Speaker 15: schedule with a six o'clock practice given, you guys do
- 1:09:29Speaker 15: the rest.
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: That was.
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: Experience.
- 1:09:33Speaker 14: I think one year, I think my rookie year, we
- 1:09:35Speaker 14: kind of practiced at a later time, uh my first
- 1:09:38Speaker 14: game starting action that I recall it. But I think
- 1:09:40Speaker 14: that was the only time. And then other times it
- 1:09:42Speaker 14: was kind of more rest on the front end, but
- 1:09:44Speaker 14: on the back end. But I like it. I mean
- 1:09:46Speaker 14: kind of you're out here when you're probably warming up
- 1:09:49Speaker 14: right now for the game.
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:09:50Speaker 15: So there's been some movie parts and to line and
- 1:09:54Speaker 15: we're caught some voment spots on Sunday. Do you ever
- 1:09:57Speaker 15: get concerned with the volume you.
- 1:09:58Speaker 16: Getting hit at?
- 1:10:00Speaker 5: Nah?
- 1:10:00Speaker 14: Man, I'm I'm big enough.
- 1:10:01Speaker 5: I could take it.
- 1:10:02Speaker 14: I'm a girl, man, I can take couple of hits.
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: You've seen the most grow just in the first two
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: weeks of the season.
- 1:10:07Speaker 14: If you guys head into this game, yeah, you know,
- 1:10:10Speaker 14: I think you know, obviously our run game is is
- 1:10:13Speaker 14: getting better, uh, each and every week from week one
- 1:10:16Speaker 14: to week two. You know, they did a lot of
- 1:10:18Speaker 14: things to try to stop the run, and we still
- 1:10:19Speaker 14: were able to execute that. Uh, you know, Hunter obviously
- 1:10:22Speaker 14: had a big day Sunday, and but obviously we're still
- 1:10:25Speaker 14: trying to learn our identity, stills trying to get better
- 1:10:27Speaker 14: and get more guys involved, for sure, And uh, you know,
- 1:10:30Speaker 14: I think we're excited about this opportunity to do that.
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: You guys have one trip to the primetime stage so
- 1:10:35Speaker 4: far this year or something. How special is that opportunity?
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: How big is it?
- 1:10:38Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:10:38Speaker 14: It's cool.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: Man.
- 1:10:38Speaker 14: As a kid, you know, you dream of these moments
- 1:10:40Speaker 14: playing on Thursday night, Monday night and Sunday night, and
- 1:10:42Speaker 14: this is our opportunity to you know, to make the
- 1:10:44Speaker 14: most of it. So I feel everybody's excited about that. Quicker, Well,
- 1:10:55Speaker 14: she's just asked the Yeah, never mind, but let me
- 1:10:58Speaker 14: hot this before y'all take. But uh uh it's a
- 1:11:03Speaker 14: mixture of a lot of different things.
- 1:11:04Speaker 15: So yeah, is there more of an emphasis of getting
- 1:11:09Speaker 15: certain guys involved this week?
- 1:11:10Speaker 14: Uh? Of course, we want to get everybody involved, you know.
- 1:11:15Speaker 14: So I think that's the plan, is to try to
- 1:11:16Speaker 14: spread the wealth for a little bit more this week.
- 1:11:19Speaker 15: People three catches by receivers and probably not kind of
- 1:11:23Speaker 15: sustainable offense and years you're.
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: Looking for it.
- 1:11:25Speaker 14: Yeah, I mean, but we're two plays away from winning
- 1:11:26Speaker 14: the game and then everybody's like, oh, it was a
- 1:11:28Speaker 14: great hunter, had a great day, growing the game was
- 1:11:30Speaker 14: good and all of this and this, that and the
- 1:11:31Speaker 14: third But yeah, obviously we want to get more players involved.
- 1:11:33Speaker 14: We want we want to spread the well for sure.
- 1:11:36Speaker 14: But yeah, so this game is the opportunity to do that.
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: Player.
- 1:11:39Speaker 9: You guys really got Antonio Gibson involved in the second
- 1:11:42Speaker 9: half of that game in Seattle.
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: What kind of different rink gold does he add to
- 1:11:45Speaker 4: your running game?
- 1:11:46Speaker 10: There's so much focused on Ramondre.
- 1:11:47Speaker 14: Yeah, I mean he was explosive. He made a lot
- 1:11:49Speaker 14: of good plays with the ball in his hand and
- 1:11:52Speaker 14: definitely adds another element to this offensive with the ability
- 1:11:55Speaker 14: that he's that he has in the run game in
- 1:11:57Speaker 14: the past game. So you know, excited to get him going.
- 1:12:00Speaker 4: The scouting report on the Jets defense.
- 1:12:02Speaker 14: Uh, you know defense that's been been in this defense
- 1:12:05Speaker 14: for for a long time. A lot of good players,
- 1:12:07Speaker 14: you know coach really well. You know, play fast, play hard,
- 1:12:12Speaker 14: physical defense. So you know, we got a good test
- 1:12:14Speaker 14: for us, but I think we'll be up for it.
- 1:12:16Speaker 4: Does the competitor and you love these kind of opporunities
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: of just going head to head. Well obviously not got
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: face Aaron Rodgers yourself. So I mean, like just battle
- 1:12:22Speaker 4: the quarterbacks like that.
- 1:12:24Speaker 14: Yeah, I don't. I don't get into that that type
- 1:12:25Speaker 14: of type of match. I just go out there and
- 1:12:27Speaker 14: just try to plague football a pup.
- 1:12:29Speaker 5: Douglas expressed some frustrations when the other day about I'm
- 1:12:31Speaker 5: not getting targeted.
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: Do you talk with him at all?
- 1:12:33Speaker 5: You know after just as a veteran you you know,
- 1:12:35Speaker 5: take the young guys.
- 1:12:36Speaker 14: Yeah, of course, I mean I'm the quarterback, you know,
- 1:12:38Speaker 14: I gotta talk to him for sure. But I mean
- 1:12:41Speaker 14: it's a good thing that he's frustrated. You know, you
- 1:12:42Speaker 14: want players that want the ball. Uh, it would be
- 1:12:45Speaker 14: a crime if he didn't, you know, So I was
- 1:12:50Speaker 14: I understood his frustration. Uh, but yeah, how.
- 1:12:54Speaker 4: Big of a blow is this the team? If if
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: Juwan isn't able to go through the rest of the season.
- 1:12:58Speaker 14: Yeah, it's tough, man. He's he's he's one of our
- 1:13:00Speaker 14: leaders for sure.
- 1:13:01Speaker 10: Uh.
- 1:13:01Speaker 14: You know all of us are pulling for him, and
- 1:13:04Speaker 14: you know he's a big part of his team and
- 1:13:06Speaker 14: you know he he still will be no matter his circumstances.
- 1:13:08Speaker 14: I'm not sure on his his health and stuff like that.
- 1:13:11Speaker 14: I don't speak on other people like that, but uh,
- 1:13:13Speaker 14: you know, it's tough to see him go out of
- 1:13:14Speaker 14: the game. You know, I know how much he means
- 1:13:16Speaker 14: to not on his team, but to this defense. And
- 1:13:19Speaker 14: you know it's now it's just a matter of the
- 1:13:20Speaker 14: next guy stepping up to help him out as a quarterback.
- 1:13:23Speaker 15: What is the respect level for the Jets defense and
- 1:13:25Speaker 15: and some of the playmakers they have there in the back.
- 1:13:27Speaker 14: End the utmost you know, those those guys are you know,
- 1:13:31Speaker 14: Pro Bowls and All Pros for a reason. Uh you know,
- 1:13:34Speaker 14: they're playing league football at a very high level. So,
- 1:13:36Speaker 14: like I said, we we uh you know, we got
- 1:13:38Speaker 14: a good test up Thursday, but we'll be up for.
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: Mm hmm.
- 1:14:00Speaker 12: Isn't it time to get exactly what you want? Welcome

- 1:14:30Speaker 6: And now great moments in.
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: History.
- 1:14:35Speaker 5: I watched the post game. You know a little bit
- 1:14:38Speaker 5: thought they thought the network struggled, Yes, in that regard.
- 1:14:41Speaker 16: Yeah, the trophy presentation left a little bit to be desired.
- 1:14:44Speaker 5: Yeah, which gets that was unfortunate. But I watched some
- 1:14:48Speaker 5: of that, and then you know, some of the interviews,
- 1:14:51Speaker 5: you know, all the players kind of heard from each
- 1:14:53Speaker 5: of the you know, the the six main players. And
- 1:14:56Speaker 5: then I was like, okay, I sorry enough, and these
- 1:14:59Speaker 5: two were on Twitter, get it out.
- 1:15:02Speaker 16: I'll tell you something a little embarrassing. I had on, Yes,
- 1:15:07Speaker 16: I promise it's worse. I had on like a clay
- 1:15:09Speaker 16: face mask, you know, doing your skincare night. You know,
- 1:15:12Speaker 16: it's a girl thing.
- 1:15:14Speaker 8: But I started tearing up a little bit with the
- 1:15:17Speaker 8: Douce stuff, like a little moment, little little Deuce Tatum,
- 1:15:23Speaker 8: I don't know, just like and then hearing people talk
- 1:15:25Speaker 8: about like Tommy, I don't know, I'm emotional. It might
- 1:15:28Speaker 8: be that time of love.
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: But whatever, that's another great moment. All right, We're back
- 1:15:36Speaker 3: here on Patriots unfiltered with the three non travelers. We
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: don't travel with the specials. No, we don't get to
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: ride on the plane or get any of the perks
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: that come with that. But that's all right. That's how
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: I like it, right, you like traveling, you miss.
- 1:15:48Speaker 13: It at all?
- 1:15:49Speaker 8: I like traveling to Miami.
- 1:15:51Speaker 5: So I miss Saturday night on the road. That's it.
- 1:15:57Speaker 5: I don't miss anything else about traveling, do you. Guys
- 1:15:59Speaker 5: you said we used to go out on Saturday nights
- 1:16:02Speaker 5: on the road.
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: Yeah, well, food, some dinner, some drinks.
- 1:16:06Speaker 5: See, when you're a little like you just mentioned Miami,
- 1:16:12Speaker 5: so you you go out and you're young enough, you're out,
- 1:16:14Speaker 5: you're hitting the town, and you do you know, I
- 1:16:17Speaker 5: got to a place in my life where that stuff
- 1:16:20Speaker 5: was no longer all that interesting to me. So it
- 1:16:23Speaker 5: was Wick and Andy Hart, Paul Parolo at Fred Kirst,
- 1:16:26Speaker 5: get some buffalo wings, nice dinner, some mill of lights,
- 1:16:30Speaker 5: and be back in bed by ten o'clock. Oh, guys,
- 1:16:34Speaker 5: let's give it up.
- 1:16:35Speaker 8: We're a lot more alike than you realize.
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: Well that's how lazare is. And Lazar isn't that. I mean,
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: he's younger than us. But he said the same thing
- 1:16:41Speaker 3: because there's a big crew of you know, the socials,
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: and everybody wants to go out. And Evan's already like, so.
- 1:16:46Speaker 5: If I told you all the years that we went
- 1:16:49Speaker 5: to Jets games and Giants games, because we go to
- 1:16:51Speaker 5: the Giants, you know, every other year in the preseason
- 1:16:54Speaker 5: back then, never once did I go in the city
- 1:16:56Speaker 5: with that crew. Not once.
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: So that's that's a big ask. I wouldn't I would.
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: I'd be afraid city.
- 1:17:03Speaker 5: What's he be afraid to go out in the city?
- 1:17:05Speaker 7: Just kidding?
- 1:17:06Speaker 5: No, no, But I don't know. I don't love big
- 1:17:08Speaker 5: Why did you go.
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: Up like rural Iowa or something, rural Massachusetts but mostly
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: maybe not.
- 1:17:15Speaker 5: Out of Boston, I know, does that count?
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: I don't know, because you're kind of in a city though,
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: right like your Springfield.
- 1:17:20Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:17:20Speaker 8: I think people's conception of western mass is ruined by
- 1:17:24Speaker 8: the drive out to U Mass where you go through
- 1:17:27Speaker 8: North Central mass and people think North Central Mass is
- 1:17:30Speaker 8: the Pioneer Valiant.
- 1:17:31Speaker 5: There's nothing we know this, there's nothing there.
- 1:17:34Speaker 8: Pineer Valley ain't that bad. It's pretty cool that the
- 1:17:37Speaker 8: Berkshires lovely.
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: I think you should work.
- 1:17:40Speaker 5: For the Chamber of Commerce. It's it's not It ain't
- 1:17:42Speaker 5: that bad.
- 1:17:43Speaker 8: Hey, what are they paying this big interest, big biggie
- 1:17:48Speaker 8: going on?
- 1:17:49Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: We're looking for something to do this weekend, so that
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: was on the table.
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: Maybe that.
- 1:17:55Speaker 8: Don't go on a Saturday or Sunday. I live near
- 1:17:58Speaker 8: the biggie. I can't leave my house. It once took
- 1:18:00Speaker 8: me two hours just I was less than a mouth.
- 1:18:03Speaker 5: I've never heard of it.
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: I've never even heard of it until a couple of
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: days ago. I guess that's an Eastern mass thing for us.
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: I don't know. Yeah, I never never heard of it, though.
- 1:18:09Speaker 5: What is the about?
- 1:18:10Speaker 8: It's like the big Massachusetts State Fair. There's concerts. It
- 1:18:15Speaker 8: goes on for like my first concert. Fun fact, Jessica
- 1:18:18Speaker 8: Simpson at.
- 1:18:19Speaker 5: The Big ee Oh, it goes on for a month.
- 1:18:21Speaker 5: I didn't realize it.
- 1:18:22Speaker 8: Yeah, well it might not be an exact month, and
- 1:18:25Speaker 8: it might be more than a month.
- 1:18:26Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:18:27Speaker 8: I was never a huge big egoer.
- 1:18:29Speaker 5: Forget what I start about the Chamber of Commerce.
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: But it's fun, little Massachusetts fun talk there. But guys,
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: there are a couple Patriots news nuggets to talk about.
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: Maybe here while Fred and Evan get in line for
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: the bus.
- 1:18:42Speaker 5: To the friend still tries to figure out the difference
- 1:18:44Speaker 5: of three in terms of a points for.
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: I think he does that on purpose. I might be wrong, maybe,
- 1:18:48Speaker 3: but I think he's he's playing that, you know what,
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: might might be justingenuous. I think you might be right,
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: maybe maybe, But to start, our friend Jalen Rager at
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: least yesterday from the practice squad, and I won't be
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: seeing him no more. To set the table, though, I
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: thought he had a good summer, Like I honestly thought
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: like he was a lock, and all of a sudden
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: Thornton kind of came on at the end. But I
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: still thought he was going to make the team. I mean,
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: I thought Booty was the question mark. And you know,
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: I think it's obvious he wasn't happy being on the
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: practice squad. Then he posted what was it that?
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: What kind of car was that?
- 1:19:20Speaker 8: He posted a picture of a Bugatti at a trailer park?
- 1:19:23Speaker 5: And that's you would I'm going to lean on you here, Alex.
- 1:19:28Speaker 5: That's like a common meme.
- 1:19:30Speaker 8: I've actually never seen that meme.
- 1:19:32Speaker 5: I've been told it probably is. That's common.
- 1:19:37Speaker 8: I don't know if it's a real photo, if that
- 1:19:38Speaker 8: was photoshop because the idea of an actual Bugatti being
- 1:19:41Speaker 8: in a trailer.
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: Party, I would assume it's really what was it like
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: a twenty eighteen Bugatti that's got some miles on it
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: and had to get like a drug.
- 1:19:49Speaker 8: You buy the Bugatti when it's at like four hundred
- 1:19:52Speaker 8: thousand miles.
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: The Jalen Rager Bugatti.
- 1:19:54Speaker 10: Right like.
- 1:19:57Speaker 8: And that's the thing, is he just like a great
- 1:19:58Speaker 8: practice player.
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: And that was it?
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: Was he a practice player the week? The first week?
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: Did he get that?
- 1:20:05Speaker 5: I thought, I don't know, I don't know. I thought
- 1:20:08Speaker 5: it was Booty. I heard, you're right, but you might
- 1:20:10Speaker 5: be right. It might be Booty and Rager.
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: Yeah, so yeah, he don't work here no more.
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:20:16Speaker 5: I so by the way, I was told that he
- 1:20:20Speaker 5: sort of asked to be released. It wasn't cause and
- 1:20:23Speaker 5: effect necessarily, like I expressed my discontent on Instagram and
- 1:20:28Speaker 5: they subsequently released me. Right, I think that's what he
- 1:20:31Speaker 5: kind of.
- 1:20:31Speaker 8: That's what I saw. Someone was like he didn't get
- 1:20:33Speaker 8: released because of the Instagram posts. He had already made
- 1:20:35Speaker 8: it very clear his feelings behind the Instagram posts before
- 1:20:39Speaker 8: he posted it.
- 1:20:40Speaker 9: So and the.
- 1:20:43Speaker 5: The only thing I would say is like you're on
- 1:20:45Speaker 5: the practice squad, you're sort of free to get signed
- 1:20:47Speaker 5: by anybody as it was. But I know some teams,
- 1:20:50Speaker 5: I think try not to do that. They don't want
- 1:20:54Speaker 5: to poach other teams practice.
- 1:20:55Speaker 8: Squads, so like a courtesy thing.
- 1:20:58Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I think it's a little less of that
- 1:21:02Speaker 5: with the expansion of the practice squad and the influx
- 1:21:05Speaker 5: of veteran players available.
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: It's just the message it sends, like if teams are like,
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: you can't make the Patriots squad, like why would you,
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: you know, why would we want to bring you to
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: our squad. I mean, it's kind of an indictment on him.
- 1:21:17Speaker 5: But and he did make the roster, remember, like initially
- 1:21:21Speaker 5: right like a minute, and then when they claimed all
- 1:21:23Speaker 5: those players, they needed to release veterans and he was
- 1:21:27Speaker 5: one of them, him, Michael Jordan.
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: So three teams now, I think that's for him. You know,
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: first round pick just happens with these guys. You know,
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: even if we had some talent, had that kick return
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: last year against Buffalo, I thought that, you know, we
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: were talking a lot this summer about that being you know,
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: maybe something in his favor. But again, I just I
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: was still surprised generally, I thought he was one of
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: their better players in camp, more consistent players in camp,
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: especially on the outside.
- 1:21:50Speaker 5: And I do think they have yeah, And I get
- 1:21:53Speaker 5: what your point is totally, Mike, and I you know,
- 1:21:57Speaker 5: if they had kept him, I certainly wouldn't be pounding
- 1:22:00Speaker 5: the table saying how could you keep him? And not
- 1:22:02Speaker 5: yeah X.
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: I mean at the end of the day, though, I
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: think we're all the same to me, Yeah, on the
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: same page of at least leaning into the young guys
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: and if you're gonna roll and choose, you know, let's
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: give Taekwon Thornton a chance. Let's not get through this
- 1:22:14Speaker 3: season without knowing. Let's see what you know. Keisham BOUTI
- 1:22:17Speaker 3: maybe he'll get a chance at some point. But I
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: mean it seems like now with Baker playing last week
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: that maybe even you know, Booty's kind.
- 1:22:23Speaker 5: Of and someone else is going to go when Kendrick
- 1:22:26Speaker 5: Bourne comes off pup, you know, if Slash win. But
- 1:22:31Speaker 5: I think that's probably coming soon. I've been hearing a
- 1:22:34Speaker 5: lot around Halloween. I think someone's got to go, and.
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: I think it might be a good little boost for them.
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: I'm just curious what the state of the passing offense
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: is going to be. But I think just to get
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: Bourne's energy back on the team and get him involved
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: and make him, you know a little bit, especially where
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: you just lost Jawan Bentley, who you know was a leader,
- 1:22:53Speaker 3: which that was. That's a tough blow.
- 1:22:56Speaker 8: And there's just not a lot of you have Andrew's Hunter,
- 1:22:59Speaker 8: but Kendrick's just like a leading, a leadership presence I
- 1:23:03Speaker 8: think they really need on offense and just a good
- 1:23:05Speaker 8: energy guy you just want to book.
- 1:23:07Speaker 5: I think the energy is the word that every time
- 1:23:10Speaker 5: I see Kendrick Boyn, that's.
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: The first thing and always always uh Andrew and Ellie
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: just chimes in. The Bogotti trailer park meme is common
- 1:23:19Speaker 3: meme used on social media to represent talent in that situation. Unfortunately,
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: on Ragers Carfax there's about three previous owners and it's
- 1:23:26Speaker 3: selfish tire facts.
- 1:23:27Speaker 8: That's the thing. Like your first it's not like teams
- 1:23:32Speaker 8: aren't doing their due diligence, Like we took a flyer
- 1:23:35Speaker 8: on him. I'm glad we did. But like your first
- 1:23:37Speaker 8: round pick and you're bouncing around the league like you
- 1:23:39Speaker 8: have like maybe been a disappointment.
- 1:23:42Speaker 3: Yeah, it happens more than you would think.
- 1:23:43Speaker 5: You know, I mean, it happens at other positions more
- 1:23:46Speaker 5: than you would think. You can say it out loud, Mike,
- 1:23:48Speaker 5: for the quarterback haters out there, it happens at all
- 1:23:52Speaker 5: positions more than you think. But just to clarify, I
- 1:23:55Speaker 5: think we all knew what them what it meant. I
- 1:23:58Speaker 5: just you know, it was like people have said that
- 1:24:01Speaker 5: that that's a very you know. I'm not up on
- 1:24:02Speaker 5: all my memes. I'm just kidding. There's a million of them,
- 1:24:07Speaker 5: and the ones, the only ones that I get over
- 1:24:09Speaker 5: and over again are all like sports related slash Patriots related,
- 1:24:13Speaker 5: like you know, Bill orange juice in your lexicon.
- 1:24:17Speaker 3: I'm just getting comfortable saying the word meme, like for
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: the longest time, they're like that memes and meme, meme,
- 1:24:23Speaker 3: meme me Now it's like part of the part of
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: the culture.
- 1:24:28Speaker 8: Meme add it to the dictionary like ten years ago.
- 1:24:34Speaker 5: I think gets by my I don't know. I'm not
- 1:24:36Speaker 5: a memer although, but this is why we have like
- 1:24:38Speaker 5: Alex and Tamara, we have the young in our lives
- 1:24:42Speaker 5: with the twenty to three scoreboard thing. Is that a meme?
- 1:24:44Speaker 8: You kind of invented a meme?
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: It's all right. I guess. I guess I have to
- 1:24:47Speaker 3: be able to.
- 1:24:49Speaker 5: That's a long road to Grandma's house just to give
- 1:24:51Speaker 5: yourself a pass back.
- 1:24:52Speaker 3: Probably not, but maybe.
- 1:24:54Speaker 10: Ah.
- 1:24:54Speaker 3: Let's let's read this email here from Nate from Northeastern
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: Pennsylvania because No Socks our friend. I sent this email
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: during pregame social last Sunday, but Matt Smith must have
- 1:25:03Speaker 3: been too humble to read it. I have legitimately nothing
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: Patriots related to discuss or ask you guys about. I
- 1:25:08Speaker 3: just wanted to email them to say that Maddie No
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: Socks has the most quintessential Boston accent. Doing great at
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: host Matt, Go Pats. So there you got a little
- 1:25:16Speaker 3: little positive feedback from Matt.
- 1:25:17Speaker 5: Do you think the Boston accent comment's gonna stick? He's
- 1:25:21Speaker 5: gonna try to tone it down a little bit.
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:25:23Speaker 5: We love Matt Carr car Yard. He's gonna like practice.
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: He's more quintessential Boston in other ways, I would say
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: than just the accent, for sure. But you know you
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: have to watch an away game with him to fully
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: understand that that's.
- 1:25:37Speaker 5: The quintessential Boston experience. I think they're gonna lose every plight.
- 1:25:42Speaker 8: You could have a camera on him. I think in
- 1:25:44Speaker 8: our little section of the office, that little hallway outside
- 1:25:47Speaker 8: your office where outside of Orduce and nice. It like
- 1:25:50Speaker 8: that there could be a reality TV show.
- 1:25:52Speaker 5: You will do no such thing to me, by the way, you.
- 1:25:55Speaker 8: Would be implicated. But your little powows are pretty funny.
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: I kind of feel this one from Johnny and Maddtown.
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: Just say, miss Alex and the men, I miss having offense,
- 1:26:06Speaker 3: and I've gotta send this to you, Paul. I miss
- 1:26:07Speaker 3: getting excited for Sundays. I sincerely miss having a competent
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: passing game. I'm not asking for the oh seven and
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: waight Patriots, but can I at least get the twenty
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: twenty one Patriots a ten and six with Mac Jones
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: at a minimum? They can't feel the passing game and
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: don't or don't want to. My question is why it's frustrating.
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: I mean, I've said it before. I feel like the
- 1:26:23Speaker 3: last three seasons, I don't know what a good passing
- 1:26:25Speaker 3: game looks like anymore, because it's been such a grind
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: for all these teams going back to twenty twenty two.
- 1:26:30Speaker 5: Yeah, it's there should be something in between, you know,
- 1:26:35Speaker 5: those high powered offenses and what we've seen since, you know,
- 1:26:39Speaker 5: since Brady left. They haven't had a good offense since
- 1:26:42Speaker 5: Brady left. And it can't just be as simple as
- 1:26:46Speaker 5: the quarterback play isn't up to par. A lot of
- 1:26:50Speaker 5: other things have deteriorated around it, not the least of
- 1:26:53Speaker 5: which is the pass protection. So now you start to wonder, well,
- 1:26:56Speaker 5: how much was Brady responsible for the pass protection? You know,
- 1:26:59Speaker 5: getting the ball quit, getting the ball out quick. No
- 1:27:01Speaker 5: one with the pressure was coming from knowing how to
- 1:27:04Speaker 5: get out of bad situations pre snap, you know whatnot,
- 1:27:07Speaker 5: I think there's.
- 1:27:08Speaker 8: A lot more if you're an offensive lineman too, just
- 1:27:10Speaker 8: like playing in front of Tom Brady, Like, yeah, what
- 1:27:13Speaker 8: does that make you play up to? You know what
- 1:27:15Speaker 8: I mean? Like, that's a great point on you don't
- 1:27:17Speaker 8: want to get chewed out by Tom Brady.
- 1:27:18Speaker 5: Certainly it was.
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: It's something I was thinking about last night. And I
- 1:27:21Speaker 3: don't mean this as a shot at the current page.
- 1:27:24Speaker 8: Yeah, not that anyone wants Ja Kobe to get hurt
- 1:27:26Speaker 8: or I.
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: Just I mean, well, but the feel when I was
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: first in the locker room in twenty nineteen, and even
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: then it's probably I mean, you could speak more to
- 1:27:34Speaker 3: this than I can. Like, you just felt the championship
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: drive in that locker room, and you felt the seriousness
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: of it and the impact of losses. And we've only
- 1:27:43Speaker 3: seen two of these games, and you know, I haven't
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: seen anything bad in the locker room that makes me think, like,
- 1:27:47Speaker 3: but it's definitely different and you don't have that expectation.
- 1:27:51Speaker 3: It feels like hanging over you. I know, Brady and
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: McGinnis talked a lot in the past about how those
- 1:27:57Speaker 3: guys would all push each other to do extra you know,
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: are you you leave in early? It's a race to
- 1:28:01Speaker 3: get in early. And I just my thought is, how
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: do you re establish that championship culture without winning a
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: championship where you know, Willie McGinnis seems like I always
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: credit him as maybe maybe kind of the thought leader
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: of that whole kind of establishing higher expectations of the
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: organization than guys might be expecting it themselves and holding
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: people accountable. And it's just how do you unless you
- 1:28:25Speaker 3: get is it the special players? Is it a couple
- 1:28:27Speaker 3: special seasons together with the same groups, and you start to,
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: you know, feel like that's the way that the team
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: is or you know, I just I have trouble putting
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: my finger on it, but I definitely feel the difference
- 1:28:39Speaker 3: between that twenty nineteen locker room, obviously coming off a
- 1:28:42Speaker 3: super Bowl and you know, like Edelman, Edelman is a
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: guy that you just felt it, like you felt the tension,
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: you felt how bad they wanted to win. And we're
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: all kind of in mine now of like it doesn't
- 1:28:54Speaker 3: really matter how many they win this year, you know,
- 1:28:55Speaker 3: And I don't want to put that on them and
- 1:28:57Speaker 3: say that they don't care. They definitely do care, but
- 1:29:00Speaker 3: it's just a lot different and you got to get
- 1:29:02Speaker 3: back to that if you want to be a consistent contender.
- 1:29:04Speaker 3: And is it like that in Kansas City right now?
- 1:29:06Speaker 3: Is it guys like Chris Jones are holding everyone to
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: a higher standard. And you know, like you said, Alex,
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: the offensive line, they come in with a rookie playing
- 1:29:14Speaker 3: left tackle and he knows he's blocking for Patrick Mahomes
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: and he's got Joe Toney next to him. So it
- 1:29:18Speaker 3: all feeds together, right like somebody we try to pin
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: things down to one thing, and it's always multiple things,
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: but that's just one that how do you get there?
- 1:29:25Speaker 3: How do you get back to that?
- 1:29:27Speaker 5: Well, you can resign so you can go back to
- 1:29:29Speaker 5: winning at all.
- 1:29:31Speaker 3: That's true.
- 1:29:33Speaker 5: In all seriousness. I do wonder because I haven't been
- 1:29:35Speaker 5: in postgame locker rooms in a long time since we
- 1:29:38Speaker 5: started doing the pre and postgame shows. Obviously we come in,
- 1:29:42Speaker 5: we do the show immediately after the game, and I
- 1:29:44Speaker 5: and I would be curious to see what the environment
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: is like compared to what you're talking about. Have they
- 1:29:53Speaker 5: sort of accepted losing?
- 1:29:56Speaker 11: Is it?
- 1:29:57Speaker 5: You know there were times where you go, you go
- 1:29:59Speaker 5: in a postgame loot. Now they never lost, you know,
- 1:30:01Speaker 5: twelve and four was sort of the norm, right, Yeah,
- 1:30:05Speaker 5: so they didn't have a lot of losing locker rooms,
- 1:30:07Speaker 5: certainly not here. But I do wonder, like you go
- 1:30:12Speaker 5: in and to be, you know, like a morgue, and
- 1:30:14Speaker 5: I just wonder if it's the same now or if
- 1:30:17Speaker 5: it's just kind of there's a resignation a little bit.
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: And I wonder too if this generation of football player
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: cares that same way.
- 1:30:25Speaker 5: So you want me to scream at the clouds? Yeah,
- 1:30:27Speaker 5: old man, old man, yeah, right, But so you want
- 1:30:32Speaker 5: me to do it, I can't. I can't lie like
- 1:30:35Speaker 5: and I'm not telling you it's a huge deal because
- 1:30:37Speaker 5: I'm not that like old school this is the only
- 1:30:40Speaker 5: way to do it, but like I think about it
- 1:30:43Speaker 5: almost every time I watch a postgame situation on the
- 1:30:46Speaker 5: field in all sports. By the way, this is not
- 1:30:50Speaker 5: a football only observation. I'm always struck with how quickly
- 1:30:56Speaker 5: these guys can put a smile on their faces and
- 1:31:00Speaker 5: find the guys on the other team. I was watching
- 1:31:02Speaker 5: the end of the Philly Atlanta game the other night.
- 1:31:03Speaker 5: That was a gutting loss for the Eagles. They had
- 1:31:06Speaker 5: no business losing that game, and I'm sure there are
- 1:31:10Speaker 5: plenty of Eagles that were pissed off. I'm not this
- 1:31:12Speaker 5: is what I'm saying. I'm not suggesting that you have
- 1:31:15Speaker 5: to go and be pouting off the field and right
- 1:31:18Speaker 5: into the locker room to show quote you care. That's
- 1:31:21Speaker 5: not how you show you care. But I am always
- 1:31:23Speaker 5: taken aback by the smiles on the faces and the
- 1:31:26Speaker 5: hugs for the opponent immediately after the game, every game,
- 1:31:31Speaker 5: every sport in this day and age. I don't think
- 1:31:34Speaker 5: like Larry Bird and Magic Johnson loved each other. They
- 1:31:38Speaker 5: loved to compete against each other and beat each other.
- 1:31:42Speaker 5: You didn't like you didn't have that, like we're gonna
- 1:31:45Speaker 5: hug and you know, be all smiley after the game.
- 1:31:49Speaker 5: The way they do now. And I'm not telling you
- 1:31:51Speaker 5: what's wrong now, the way they do it. I'm just
- 1:31:52Speaker 5: telling you it's striking to me how quickly they turned
- 1:31:55Speaker 5: the page. And I wonder if it means as much
- 1:31:58Speaker 5: like I felt like I was pissed.
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: He was pissed.
- 1:32:01Speaker 5: Barrow was pissed after that game.
- 1:32:03Speaker 3: Yeah, they needed it, you know.
- 1:32:04Speaker 5: Did you see he was pissed at Jamar Chase? Did
- 1:32:06Speaker 5: you see that? Yeah, like when Chase got the penalty
- 1:32:10Speaker 5: for arguing with the ref for like ten minutes and Chase,
- 1:32:15Speaker 5: I mean, Barow must have taken him out of there
- 1:32:17Speaker 5: three times and finally he turned around. He was like, enough,
- 1:32:20Speaker 5: what are you doing?
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:32:21Speaker 8: You know, I know they're close and played in college together,
- 1:32:23Speaker 8: but I really would love to hear Joe Burrow's unfiltered
- 1:32:28Speaker 8: thoughts about just like all this drama happening with Chase
- 1:32:32Speaker 8: holding out and just not playing, Like I don't know
- 1:32:35Speaker 8: if if I'm on the Bengals and I'm Joe Burrow
- 1:32:38Speaker 8: and you're really one of those teams that's right on
- 1:32:39Speaker 8: the cusp, and I see only a second year receiver
- 1:32:43Speaker 8: kind of acting like that. I'm just like, what the
- 1:32:46Speaker 8: what are you doing?
- 1:32:47Speaker 14: Bro?
- 1:32:47Speaker 5: Chase is older than that.
- 1:32:49Speaker 8: This is already this is.
- 1:32:51Speaker 5: Fourth year, fourth year.
- 1:32:53Speaker 8: Well still you're still like a young, exciting receiver in
- 1:32:56Speaker 8: this league. You guys are right on the cusp wire.
- 1:32:58Speaker 8: I don't know. For me, I'm just like, let's see
- 1:33:00Speaker 8: the bigger picture.
- 1:33:01Speaker 5: You know what the hard thing is there for him?
- 1:33:03Speaker 5: He just got his Yeah, he got his contract. How
- 1:33:07Speaker 5: can I say you need to be here?
- 1:33:08Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 1:33:09Speaker 5: Yeah, but that's it is hard. I know what your
- 1:33:12Speaker 5: point is, Do you want to win a super Bowl?
- 1:33:14Speaker 8: You're right on the cusp? Or do you want to
- 1:33:16Speaker 8: get paid right now? Like you're gonna get paid eventually.
- 1:33:19Speaker 8: You're gonna get money eventually. Why not just be like, hey,
- 1:33:21Speaker 8: you know what, like sometimes you got to do things
- 1:33:24Speaker 8: for the greater good of the collective. And it's just like,
- 1:33:28Speaker 8: where are your priorities? Do you want to win super Bowls?
- 1:33:30Speaker 8: Or do you just want to create generational wealth for
- 1:33:33Speaker 8: yourself because you're probably gonna do that anyways.
- 1:33:36Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, do you want a super Bowl?
- 1:33:38Speaker 11: Or no?
- 1:33:39Speaker 8: Like, when it's all said and done, will you be
- 1:33:40Speaker 8: upset you didn't have a couple more million dollars that
- 1:33:44Speaker 8: one year or are you gonna be want a title?
- 1:33:47Speaker 3: You'll make it up. But I mean that's to me
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: being on the cusp and feeling like you have all
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: the pieces and it's like it feels like whack a
- 1:33:53Speaker 3: mole right now with them, whether it's contract holdouts or
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: you know, guys getting hurt at the wrong time, and
- 1:33:59Speaker 3: it's just you know that it's one thing to be
- 1:34:01Speaker 3: like a team with the Patriots they're trying to rebuild,
- 1:34:03Speaker 3: but to be a team that has the pieces and
- 1:34:05Speaker 3: to know that the clock is kind of ticking on
- 1:34:09Speaker 3: and you know, trying to find that right moment. It's
- 1:34:11Speaker 3: I mean, I get why, it's why it's frustrating.
- 1:34:13Speaker 5: I think it kind of like it closes the loop
- 1:34:16Speaker 5: on what I was just talking about with the reactions
- 1:34:19Speaker 5: on the field, you know, and how happy everybody looks
- 1:34:22Speaker 5: after the game. I think you'd be surprised to find
- 1:34:25Speaker 5: out how few guys have the mentality that Alex just
- 1:34:31Speaker 5: explained about, like you're gonna you know, you're so close
- 1:34:33Speaker 5: to a super Bowl, and I'm not telling you these
- 1:34:35Speaker 5: guys don't want to win. They all want to win,
- 1:34:38Speaker 5: but it's not the thing for all of them, Like
- 1:34:41Speaker 5: they want to win, but they want to get theirs too,
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: and if they don't win, they'd rather get theirs than win,
- 1:34:48Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying.
- 1:34:49Speaker 3: Do you think do you think that the college system
- 1:34:51Speaker 3: feeds into that a little bit where guys don't feel
- 1:34:53Speaker 3: as committed to a team. They feel like, well, if
- 1:34:55Speaker 3: it's not working here, I'm gonna go somewhere else. And
- 1:34:57Speaker 3: really it seems like for star players it's more about
- 1:34:59Speaker 3: the individual than it is the team. I know, Tom.
- 1:35:04Speaker 8: Well, I think it even goes back to high school
- 1:35:05Speaker 8: for these guys playing out this level.
- 1:35:07Speaker 5: I've talked about it. Every sport, club sport thing I
- 1:35:10Speaker 5: think is really you see it. Even my kids never
- 1:35:16Speaker 5: played club sports at a level that they're playing in
- 1:35:20Speaker 5: these you know, four and five star camps that they're
- 1:35:22Speaker 5: getting recruited at. There was you know, Division three colleges
- 1:35:26Speaker 5: around maybe was the highest level. So I can only
- 1:35:30Speaker 5: imagine how much more magnified it is, you know, at
- 1:35:33Speaker 5: the at the elite level, when you have nothing go
- 1:35:38Speaker 5: right for you, you just go, well that's okay. And
- 1:35:42Speaker 5: they call them program jumpers, and I'm going to play
- 1:35:45Speaker 5: for the Blizzard this year. I'm going to play for
- 1:35:46Speaker 5: the Mass Elite. Next year, I'm going to play for
- 1:35:48Speaker 5: the for the Boston share Rocks after that, and then
- 1:35:51Speaker 5: if it doesn't work out, I'll just go to like,
- 1:35:54Speaker 5: you know, East Elite. You know, I'll find you know,
- 1:35:57Speaker 5: North Shore Sports Academy like this.
- 1:36:00Speaker 8: So many different programs you're just jumping.
- 1:36:02Speaker 5: And it's just I'm on the search to find out
- 1:36:06Speaker 5: where I can play the most. Me me, me, me me.
- 1:36:10Speaker 5: And that happens third grade, fourth grade, fifth grade, middle school,
- 1:36:16Speaker 5: high school. So how do you think you're going to college?
- 1:36:20Speaker 5: What do you mean there's a small forward that's better
- 1:36:24Speaker 5: than me. I got to come off the bench. Peace.
- 1:36:27Speaker 5: I'll go find a school. There's three hundred and sixty
- 1:36:30Speaker 5: of them that play Division one basketball. I'll find a
- 1:36:32Speaker 5: school that I can start at, and I'm just going
- 1:36:35Speaker 5: to go to change the program. You watch games now,
- 1:36:38Speaker 5: it's unbelievable. Mike just so began his career at Holy
- 1:36:41Speaker 5: Cross and he transferred, of course, to UNLV and now
- 1:36:44Speaker 5: here he is at Kansas State. Every single player they
- 1:36:49Speaker 5: talk about has at least two, more often than not
- 1:36:53Speaker 5: three schools on his resume. That can't be good for
- 1:36:57Speaker 5: mental for a team first mentality moving into the pros, right,
- 1:37:01Speaker 5: It's just like.
- 1:37:03Speaker 8: It's just all the emphasis too on, just like that
- 1:37:05Speaker 8: instant gratification, not like I don't even know if they
- 1:37:09Speaker 8: can comprehend the bigger picture here where I look at
- 1:37:11Speaker 8: Look at a guy like Danny m Mondola. If they
- 1:37:14Speaker 8: don't win those Super Bowls with the Patriots, ntol on
- 1:37:17Speaker 8: Dancing with the Stars right now, like they're stretching out
- 1:37:20Speaker 8: their relevance as long as they can. Edelman two. But
- 1:37:24Speaker 8: if they don't win those Super Bowls, no one gives
- 1:37:26Speaker 8: an f Who the hell what am Mondola's up to
- 1:37:29Speaker 8: now or what Edelman's up to. But as a result
- 1:37:32Speaker 8: of those Super Bowls, they're still relevant somehow, They're still
- 1:37:37Speaker 8: those checks are still coming in, they're doing the media.
- 1:37:39Speaker 5: But I would probably, you know, I'll go back to
- 1:37:43Speaker 5: to finish it with with Chase. My guess is that
- 1:37:45Speaker 5: a guy like Jamar Chase would say that's great. I
- 1:37:48Speaker 5: don't want to be on Dancing with the Stars to
- 1:37:50Speaker 5: make my millions. I want my millions now because I'm
- 1:37:52Speaker 5: dominating the league now, do you know what I mean?
- 1:37:55Speaker 5: Like I want what Justin Jefferson got My good friend,
- 1:37:57Speaker 5: Justin Jefferson that I played at LSU with just got
- 1:38:00Speaker 5: thirty five million a year. I want that. Yeah, And
- 1:38:03Speaker 5: if they're not going to give it to me, then
- 1:38:04Speaker 5: someone else, And He's right, someone else will. If Mike
- 1:38:08Speaker 5: Brown doesn't give it to him, believe me, he will
- 1:38:10Speaker 5: not be. He will not be. Brian Moorey sent me
- 1:38:14Speaker 5: a you know, oh yeah, but what if we send
- 1:38:15Speaker 5: like a twenty six first round pick and it's like, like,
- 1:38:18Speaker 5: why is Cincinnati waiting till twenty six?
- 1:38:21Speaker 2: You know?
- 1:38:21Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:38:22Speaker 8: Comparison crazy joy.
- 1:38:24Speaker 3: I'm going to read this one from Dublin, Kevin from Dublin.
- 1:38:28Speaker 3: Mike Rees had some comments yesterday a little bit about
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: Bill Belichick. I thought that I saw some people getting
- 1:38:32Speaker 3: upset about. But question is when will Belichick be called out?
- 1:38:36Speaker 3: Plenty of people say Belichick is calculating, that's nothing new.
- 1:38:40Speaker 3: But I could not believe how transparent he was being
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: on the segment with Tom Brady on his the Coach
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: segment where he was criticizing just the franchises with whom
- 1:38:47Speaker 3: he may have some personal gripe, and then praising the
- 1:38:50Speaker 3: Lions and attributing a lot of their success to Matt Patricia,
- 1:38:54Speaker 3: it's becoming so obvious that I wonder if braver souls
- 1:38:56Speaker 3: among the national media might call it out at some point.
- 1:38:59Speaker 5: Thanks Kevin, it's been a huge top of your conversation locally.
- 1:39:02Speaker 5: And to Alex's point about our little show, the show
- 1:39:07Speaker 5: within the show, that that was a big one today.
- 1:39:11Speaker 5: You know in our offices it was embarrassing. The email
- 1:39:13Speaker 5: is dead on listen. I'm not telling you what opinion
- 1:39:17Speaker 5: you should have, and you know you want to espouse
- 1:39:20Speaker 5: an opinion, but can you at least make an effort
- 1:39:23Speaker 5: to try to put forward some form of legitimacy, some objectivity.
- 1:39:30Speaker 5: What are you I mean, there's like four or five
- 1:39:32Speaker 5: different things that happened, because let's face it, Belichick has
- 1:39:35Speaker 5: like nine gigs. Now, what are some of the teams
- 1:39:38Speaker 5: you think of the best run organizations? Now, do you
- 1:39:43Speaker 5: think there's a lot of people that would come out?
- 1:39:45Speaker 5: You know, and Brady prefaced that question by saying other
- 1:39:48Speaker 5: than Kansas City, So I know everybody would say Kansas City.
- 1:39:51Speaker 5: But do you think Dallas would be front of mine
- 1:39:53Speaker 5: to a lot of people in that you love Jerry Jones,
- 1:39:56Speaker 5: how about Philly? Dallas? Philly one?
- 1:39:59Speaker 4: Two?
- 1:40:00Speaker 5: How do you think that is, are those the two
- 1:40:02Speaker 5: teams that have ready made you know, rosters, ready to
- 1:40:07Speaker 5: make a Super Bowl run that might be looking for
- 1:40:09Speaker 5: coaches next year. And then he starts talking about Detroit
- 1:40:14Speaker 5: and all the things that they've done, and he somehow
- 1:40:16Speaker 5: tries to give credit to Matt Patricia who burnt the
- 1:40:19Speaker 5: whole organization to the ground.
- 1:40:22Speaker 3: Because he hired the offensive coordinator.
- 1:40:24Speaker 5: And they're seeing the fruits of their labor now. But
- 1:40:26Speaker 5: he didn't hire the offensive coordinator as offensive coordinator. He
- 1:40:29Speaker 5: didn't even hire the line coach as the line coach.
- 1:40:32Speaker 5: He was the assistant line coach.
- 1:40:34Speaker 3: So they kept those guys around.
- 1:40:36Speaker 5: So it's just embarrassingly transparent. He's ripping the Falcons at
- 1:40:40Speaker 5: every turn. He's ripping the Patriots this week, not last
- 1:40:43Speaker 5: week when they won and he was asked about the Patriots,
- 1:40:45Speaker 5: and he answered a question about the Falcons. When Mike
- 1:40:48Speaker 5: Lombardi teed him up about you know, teams that you know,
- 1:40:52Speaker 5: played good sound football, mistake free football, and found a
- 1:40:55Speaker 5: way to win games, he skips over the answer to
- 1:40:58Speaker 5: the Patriots and talks about how Atlanta couldn't do that. Yeah, Now,
- 1:41:02Speaker 5: this week, the Patriots make some mistakes in coaching. Mayo
- 1:41:06Speaker 5: obviously botched the clock at did that. He was more
- 1:41:08Speaker 5: than willing to jump in on that, like it's embarrassing.
- 1:41:12Speaker 5: You know, this is the greatest coach that's ever coached,
- 1:41:14Speaker 5: and he is the pettiest man of all time.
- 1:41:18Speaker 3: I mean, Mike, He's had some comments similar lines of
- 1:41:21Speaker 3: you know, establishing at least some mean A lot of
- 1:41:24Speaker 3: the fans are clapping back like he doesn't owe us anything.
- 1:41:26Speaker 5: But he doesn't owe anything. He doesn't but but you,
- 1:41:29Speaker 5: but he's just terrible.
- 1:41:30Speaker 3: The last couple of years.
- 1:41:31Speaker 5: Should be the truth, right, don't you don't you think
- 1:41:33Speaker 5: the truth should be should be.
- 1:41:35Speaker 3: Owed and no matter how and no matter how it
- 1:41:37Speaker 3: ended here put on a brave face, drow Mao's a
- 1:41:40Speaker 3: kid you drafted, and I you know, I'm sure that
- 1:41:42Speaker 3: you have all kinds of issues with how all that
- 1:41:45Speaker 3: went down. But is it that hard to just say,
- 1:41:48Speaker 3: you know, Girod's first time coach. You know, I support
- 1:41:50Speaker 3: anything any just a bone.
- 1:41:52Speaker 5: See, I don't need that. I don't need him to
- 1:41:54Speaker 5: tell me anything good about what's going on with the Patriots.
- 1:41:57Speaker 5: He has a grudge. He feels like he was wrong. Fine, yeah,
- 1:42:01Speaker 5: so after they've won, you chose to take the high road,
- 1:42:05Speaker 5: but when they lost, you broke your own rule one
- 1:42:09Speaker 5: week later. Like that, to me is the part that
- 1:42:12Speaker 5: I don't have any use for. If you said in
- 1:42:15Speaker 5: week one, A, B, and C were good and then
- 1:42:18Speaker 5: in week two, A, B and C are bad, I
- 1:42:20Speaker 5: have no problem with that. But you're only going to
- 1:42:22Speaker 5: point out the bad because you're a petty little man.
- 1:42:24Speaker 3: Yeah, let's stand on Belichick from Edward's the part of
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: the show. Right, Do you guys now fully believe that
- 1:42:31Speaker 3: Bill didn't want a diva receiver like Chase because he
- 1:42:34Speaker 3: knew a situation like the Bengals would happen. If so,
- 1:42:37Speaker 3: do you believe he was right about it? I get
- 1:42:38Speaker 3: Chase's elite, but is the drama worth it? No?
- 1:42:42Speaker 5: You pay him, then you don't have the drama right,
- 1:42:45Speaker 5: like good players cost money, like it's it. No, I
- 1:42:50Speaker 5: don't think Bill was right. When you have Patrick Mahomes
- 1:42:54Speaker 5: or Tom Brady, you know, like you can get away
- 1:42:56Speaker 5: with those things. Like most teams don't have the luxury
- 1:42:59Speaker 5: of saying, no, we don't need good players because we
- 1:43:01Speaker 5: have a great player at the only position that matters.
- 1:43:04Speaker 5: Most teams don't have that.
- 1:43:05Speaker 3: The thing that was weird to me I watched I
- 1:43:07Speaker 3: guess it was two weeks ago, the Coach episode, and
- 1:43:10Speaker 3: and he spent so much time talking about what a
- 1:43:12Speaker 3: game changer Ceedee Lamb is and how the first thing
- 1:43:14Speaker 3: you've got to do when you're playing them is find
- 1:43:16Speaker 3: that guy. Why because he play That's right, but still
- 1:43:21Speaker 3: but like, but even if he was, you know, doing
- 1:43:23Speaker 3: that thing, it's still just an obvious fact that right
- 1:43:27Speaker 3: now in the NFL, if you don't have that player,
- 1:43:29Speaker 3: all these teams are struggling. I mean, Bryce Young, everyone's
- 1:43:32Speaker 3: crying about that. You know, it's it's it just seems
- 1:43:34Speaker 3: like if you have a young quarterback, you have to
- 1:43:36Speaker 3: try to figure out a way to find that guye
- 1:43:38Speaker 3: one way or another. And you know, but that never
- 1:43:40Speaker 3: seemed to be on the menu when he was here.
- 1:43:42Speaker 5: Let me ask you, guys, who would you describe Rob
- 1:43:46Speaker 5: Gronkowski greatest tight end? No, but like in terms of
- 1:43:51Speaker 5: this kind of stuff, like high maintenance.
- 1:43:54Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe, bit of a diva, maybe a little bit
- 1:43:57Speaker 3: a little bit you know, kind.
- 1:43:58Speaker 8: Of got his own rules a little bit here, and yeah,
- 1:44:01Speaker 8: r get bent for great players?
- 1:44:03Speaker 5: Correct? Correct?
- 1:44:05Speaker 13: He like that?
- 1:44:06Speaker 5: I don't really see a whole lot of difference. He
- 1:44:08Speaker 5: bitched about his contract. He bitched when you know he
- 1:44:13Speaker 5: wasn't getting it and he wanted he wanted out, bitched
- 1:44:16Speaker 5: about the way he was being told he needed to
- 1:44:18Speaker 5: work out toward the end. If you recall Diva like
- 1:44:22Speaker 5: and I don't say that in a negative way. Great
- 1:44:25Speaker 5: players have different rules like. They were very lucky that
- 1:44:30Speaker 5: they had Tom Brady, who got in line for the
- 1:44:33Speaker 5: vast majority of his twenty year career.
- 1:44:35Speaker 8: And then was able to help Bill keep everyone else
- 1:44:37Speaker 8: in line.
- 1:44:38Speaker 5: Right now if he decided that the way he did
- 1:44:43Speaker 5: at the end, when he when he I'm going to
- 1:44:45Speaker 5: use the word, finally woke up and realized he was
- 1:44:48Speaker 5: being sort of manipulated and abuse is not the right word,
- 1:44:54Speaker 5: but you know, taking advantage of I think is And
- 1:45:00Speaker 5: then he said, well, no, I'm not going to sign
- 1:45:02Speaker 5: for that. You remember Mike. This is again I blame
- 1:45:04Speaker 5: it all on Mike, because when Mike got here, this
- 1:45:06Speaker 5: is when everything just fell a playoffs where will we never?
- 1:45:10Speaker 2: Not one?
- 1:45:10Speaker 5: Where will we Mike Flynn, which which one of what
- 1:45:12Speaker 5: we were either in Detroit or Nashville.
- 1:45:15Speaker 3: I didn't go to Detroit so Nashville.
- 1:45:16Speaker 5: Okay, so we're in that. You didn't go to Detroit.
- 1:45:18Speaker 3: No, I just started like that week.
- 1:45:20Speaker 5: So we were in Nashville, and what did what did
- 1:45:22Speaker 5: Brady say? Go ask mister Kraft? He had finally had enough?
- 1:45:27Speaker 5: You know, like that could have happened in two thousand
- 1:45:29Speaker 5: and eight, but two thousand and six. You know, the
- 1:45:32Speaker 5: Patriots were very lucky that it didn't happen until it did.
- 1:45:35Speaker 3: I just blocked everything off from that trip except Derek Henry.
- 1:45:37Speaker 5: So that's why I was like, what else?
- 1:45:39Speaker 12: What?
- 1:45:39Speaker 2: What else?
- 1:45:39Speaker 3: Was?
- 1:45:39Speaker 5: I blocked everything throwing up, I walked out everything. But
- 1:45:43Speaker 5: you have karaoke.
- 1:45:44Speaker 3: Performance, we're not we're not supposed to talk about that.
- 1:45:47Speaker 3: Nashville calling for Seattle's got a good one.
- 1:45:49Speaker 2: Though.
- 1:45:49Speaker 5: It used to be fun go to karaoke song for me. Yeah,
- 1:45:53Speaker 5: I didn't really have one, but I did bust a move.
- 1:45:55Speaker 5: Just that's like a virgin my way. If we're going
- 1:45:57Speaker 5: back to college.
- 1:45:58Speaker 3: Okay, okay, they're just totally out of key butchering it,
- 1:46:02Speaker 3: but it's now.
- 1:46:03Speaker 5: I was with a couple of the baseball cars.
- 1:46:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, the harmony going three part harmony, and I
- 1:46:07Speaker 3: wouldn't say that.
- 1:46:09Speaker 5: Colin Seattle.
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: What bothers you more the aforementioned pettiness from Bill at
- 1:46:13Speaker 3: nearly every turn, or the outcry from those like McAfee
- 1:46:16Speaker 3: and his ilk who cream their pants every time he
- 1:46:19Speaker 3: mentions anything about football.
- 1:46:20Speaker 5: That's tiresome too. But I understand why at least like
- 1:46:24Speaker 5: McAfee is like, you know, I mean, I'll sacrifice my integrity.
- 1:46:28Speaker 5: I'm getting him on the show. That's good for me,
- 1:46:30Speaker 5: you know. But like, yes, that that was the most
- 1:46:33Speaker 5: predictable thing out of all of this, is that whatever
- 1:46:36Speaker 5: Bill said was going to be taken. Do you ever
- 1:46:39Speaker 5: do you ever go to like Twitter on Monday nights
- 1:46:42Speaker 5: dropping the knowledge like what like you know, you should
- 1:46:45Speaker 5: play like too high safety or you know some other
- 1:46:48Speaker 5: thing that everybody else is saying. Like they show a
- 1:46:51Speaker 5: play of Barkley going out of the backfield and the
- 1:46:53Speaker 5: Falcons guy hits him and knocks him down. It's because
- 1:46:56Speaker 5: he knocked him on his ask.
- 1:46:59Speaker 8: Like this all day yesterday, I think it was yesterday
- 1:47:04Speaker 8: mccordy talking about Bill predicting the wind pattern stuff.
- 1:47:07Speaker 5: Now, that was different.
- 1:47:08Speaker 2: Was kind of cool.
- 1:47:09Speaker 5: That was different, I agree, right, that was kind of
- 1:47:12Speaker 5: like holy crap, you know, But not like oh, I
- 1:47:15Speaker 5: mean when when the back is coming out of the
- 1:47:17Speaker 5: backfield you try to hit.
- 1:47:18Speaker 4: Him like that.
- 1:47:19Speaker 5: This is like, this is breaking news.
- 1:47:21Speaker 3: I think he's overworked right now. Bill's he's just got
- 1:47:23Speaker 3: too much, like he's got commercials. This is everywhere your turn.
- 1:47:26Speaker 5: Did you hear the thing that mccy talks about that
- 1:47:29Speaker 5: that was that was kind of interesting?
- 1:47:30Speaker 3: Yeah, and then they had the clip. I think to
- 1:47:32Speaker 3: at least somebody who would put the video together showed
- 1:47:35Speaker 3: you know that that I mean for the people listening,
- 1:47:36Speaker 3: we didn't hear it. I think Bill said to him
- 1:47:38Speaker 3: the way the wind swirls in jol that stadium, if
- 1:47:40Speaker 3: you're going down the sideline, it's gonna the ball and
- 1:47:42Speaker 3: it's coming deep. It's gonna look like it's going deep,
- 1:47:44Speaker 3: but it's gonna die once it hits the wind. So
- 1:47:47Speaker 3: stay underneath and you'll get you'll get the pick and
- 1:47:49Speaker 3: you know, as the head turned.
- 1:47:51Speaker 8: Probably no longer the case with the scoreboard. I remember
- 1:47:54Speaker 8: when Bill was still here in the square, one of
- 1:47:56Speaker 8: the questions, like all so pissed about it. You could
- 1:47:59Speaker 8: just tell he was like, I've for twenty years been
- 1:48:01Speaker 8: studying the wind patterns, and now we gotta start from scratch, just.
- 1:48:06Speaker 3: Get our need to fire up the wind machine. Let's
- 1:48:08Speaker 3: hop over to the phone here real quick. Kevin's in
- 1:48:10Speaker 3: South Carolina.
- 1:48:10Speaker 5: Hey Kevin, Hey, how they're about doing good? Good?
- 1:48:14Speaker 3: Thanks for calling it, appreciate it.
- 1:48:17Speaker 11: I got two points. First and foremost, Central Massachusetts has
- 1:48:20Speaker 11: a big eas an exhibition, y'all is very important for
- 1:48:24Speaker 11: the country. Kids there we are, Alex.
- 1:48:25Speaker 2: I'm with you.
- 1:48:26Speaker 11: First point, we may be minute men. As a former
- 1:48:30Speaker 11: and current student, we may be minute man. At least
- 1:48:34Speaker 11: we get so. Am I right?
- 1:48:36Speaker 8: I'm sorry the way this did you guys know what
- 1:48:38Speaker 8: he said?
- 1:48:39Speaker 3: I think the minute's saying some mini Sorry broke up
- 1:48:41Speaker 3: a little bit if you're.
- 1:48:42Speaker 8: Talking about you mass But it's just hard to hear you.
- 1:48:46Speaker 11: I apologize. I'm trying to make a joke.
- 1:48:49Speaker 8: Oh Kevin, I don't think it's you. I think it's
- 1:48:51Speaker 8: our new speaker system. It's just hard to hear our
- 1:48:53Speaker 8: callers enunciating.
- 1:48:54Speaker 3: It's not great for humor when you can't hear the person.
- 1:48:57Speaker 3: I'm sure it was a good job. Was your other question, keV.
- 1:49:00Speaker 11: I'm hilarious.
- 1:49:01Speaker 3: I know it.
- 1:49:01Speaker 2: We believe it.
- 1:49:03Speaker 11: Two from out your space, looking down if I was
- 1:49:07Speaker 11: in an astronaut suit looking down on the Patriots? Am
- 1:49:12Speaker 11: I upset that we're going to go three and fifteen
- 1:49:15Speaker 11: when we have a quarterback and a left tackle named
- 1:49:17Speaker 11: after the Vader? And did you all feel bad about
- 1:49:20Speaker 11: being a reference for drafting a left tackle named Vader?
- 1:49:24Speaker 11: Are we the Evil Empire? A forty? Respond?
- 1:49:28Speaker 10: Oh my god?
- 1:49:30Speaker 5: Thanks Kevin?
- 1:49:30Speaker 3: Uh, we have a Vader?
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: Who is that?
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: Look?
- 1:49:33Speaker 3: I'm a Star Wars guy, but I know who's the Vader?
- 1:49:36Speaker 3: Dang it, Kevin right back in.
- 1:49:38Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:49:38Speaker 3: I'm not sure. I would love to have a Star
- 1:49:40Speaker 3: Wars theme team, but may if the force be with.
- 1:49:43Speaker 5: You, I don't know what I would have done. I'm
- 1:49:45Speaker 5: not you didn't never mind, you.
- 1:49:46Speaker 3: Saw the main movie in the theater once and that
- 1:49:49Speaker 3: way that was it. That was good for Paul.
- 1:49:50Speaker 5: He's like, that's a nice movie. It's good, enjoyed. It
- 1:49:54Speaker 5: didn't need to be part of the murder. It didn't
- 1:49:56Speaker 5: change my line in morrel.
- 1:50:00Speaker 3: A little joke here though, After seeing the other rookie
- 1:50:03Speaker 3: qbs play for two weeks, I know, super small sample size.
- 1:50:06Speaker 3: Would you do a one for one trade for any
- 1:50:09Speaker 3: of them? Daniels oh, Caleb Williams. Absolutely, yeah, that's it.
- 1:50:13Speaker 5: Though I liked May better than Jayden Daniels coming out
- 1:50:16Speaker 5: of college, I was on record of saying that I
- 1:50:18Speaker 5: still feel that way.
- 1:50:19Speaker 3: I think, uh, I just I said it to Evan
- 1:50:22Speaker 3: And this probably sounds stupid.
- 1:50:23Speaker 5: But and I wouldn't have taken bon Nicks until like
- 1:50:25Speaker 5: the third or.
- 1:50:25Speaker 3: Fourth rount right so, and this again is gonna sund
- 1:50:29Speaker 3: but like, you can't really tell until you see a
- 1:50:31Speaker 3: guy play in the NFL how they actually look, no
- 1:50:32Speaker 3: matter how much you watch them, until they are against
- 1:50:35Speaker 3: other NFL players. And you know, Jane Daniels always looks
- 1:50:38Speaker 3: super fast to me. But I just didn't anticipate how
- 1:50:41Speaker 3: how good he is it getting the ball out quick
- 1:50:42Speaker 3: and just his like garoppolo like, you know, getting it out,
- 1:50:45Speaker 3: which didn't really jump out to me. And I think
- 1:50:47Speaker 3: I might have liked him a little bit more had
- 1:50:49Speaker 3: I seen that when I was first watching him. But
- 1:50:51Speaker 3: I wanted May all along. I remember being in the
- 1:50:54Speaker 3: owners meeting getting into with Tommy Current. I was just
- 1:50:57Speaker 3: at that point I was like, I just want May,
- 1:50:59Speaker 3: like I just take a head, but you was he
- 1:51:01Speaker 3: was still thinking about it, I think, and then I
- 1:51:03Speaker 3: ran away and uh probably got my time.
- 1:51:05Speaker 5: Good move by you, good move for you.
- 1:51:07Speaker 3: I just think May, it's it's the same thing. He's
- 1:51:09Speaker 3: a good kid, he's got all the tools. We talked
- 1:51:11Speaker 3: about a hundred times. It's never going to be an
- 1:51:14Speaker 3: issue physically for him. It might be mentally. Maybe he's
- 1:51:17Speaker 3: got you know, physical things to clean up for sure,
- 1:51:19Speaker 3: as all these guys do. But if you're going to
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: take a raw lump of clay, and that's what we
- 1:51:25Speaker 3: said when I got Mac, it was like you. I
- 1:51:27Speaker 3: just looked at Herbert and Allen and these guys who
- 1:51:29Speaker 3: are huge and big arm and can run when they
- 1:51:33Speaker 3: have to, and you know they have an understanding of
- 1:51:35Speaker 3: the game. And he's still just twenty one. So I
- 1:51:38Speaker 3: still really feel good about about May. But like everybody,
- 1:51:42Speaker 3: he's got again in this year, we got to start
- 1:51:44Speaker 3: that process of letting him take his lumps. You know,
- 1:51:47Speaker 3: want some lumps taken this year so we don't have
- 1:51:49Speaker 3: to think.
- 1:51:49Speaker 5: I thought that email was going to be more along
- 1:51:51Speaker 5: the lines of do you now think the Patriots are
- 1:51:55Speaker 5: doing the right you know, for those of you that
- 1:51:56Speaker 5: thought May should play right away, And I didn't necessarily
- 1:51:59Speaker 5: think May should play right way. I wanted him to
- 1:52:01Speaker 5: play right away, and I still want him to play.
- 1:52:03Speaker 5: But do you think that the Patriots now do you
- 1:52:05Speaker 5: think of it differently? And my answer is no, Like
- 1:52:07Speaker 5: I have no illusions that when Drake May plays, he's
- 1:52:11Speaker 5: probably not gonna look like CJ. Stroud does now. Yeah,
- 1:52:15Speaker 5: like that's rare. Like most likely he's either gonna be
- 1:52:20Speaker 5: mistake prone or he's gonna be asked to do what
- 1:52:24Speaker 5: Prissette's doing right now and just kick the ball out
- 1:52:26Speaker 5: of harm's way. Yeah, which I hope he's mistake prone
- 1:52:28Speaker 5: and not doing That's what I was just about the
- 1:52:30Speaker 5: only way to me you can get.
- 1:52:32Speaker 3: Any of the words right out of my mouth. And
- 1:52:33Speaker 3: that was you know, one thing that I was just
- 1:52:35Speaker 3: so impressed with him during the summer was that he's
- 1:52:37Speaker 3: not afraid to take those shots. I mean, he's not
- 1:52:39Speaker 3: afraid to throw the ball down the field. He did
- 1:52:41Speaker 3: it a lot, I mean, especially to Javon Baker, who
- 1:52:43Speaker 3: somehow continued to have his trust despite you know, after
- 1:52:46Speaker 3: a certain second or third week in camp couldn't really
- 1:52:48Speaker 3: catch that ball anymore. But there's me.
- 1:52:51Speaker 5: It's just as much about the shorter stuff too, Like
- 1:52:53Speaker 5: that's kind of covered, like he's kind of open, like
- 1:52:56Speaker 5: jamming in there. Like there was how many times that
- 1:53:00Speaker 5: I knew there was a reason, you know, And I
- 1:53:03Speaker 5: talked about this. Brissett's got like the second best interception
- 1:53:07Speaker 5: percentage during his time in the career to only Aaron Rodgers.
- 1:53:11Speaker 5: Who do you think has a better touchdown percentage? Brissette
- 1:53:15Speaker 5: or mac Jones?
- 1:53:15Speaker 3: Oh maybe mac Jones.
- 1:53:17Speaker 5: Mac Jones, And mac Jones was another guy who didn't
- 1:53:21Speaker 5: force the ball in and do all those things you
- 1:53:23Speaker 5: need to make plays, Like you can't just not make
- 1:53:27Speaker 5: bad ones. You have to make great ones too in
- 1:53:30Speaker 5: order to be good. And they don't. He doesn't risk
- 1:53:33Speaker 5: he doesn't he doesn't make those risky throws.
- 1:53:36Speaker 8: And that's why we are kind of where we are
- 1:53:37Speaker 8: right now, where it's he's not losing us the game,
- 1:53:40Speaker 8: he's not winning us the game. So what does he
- 1:53:43Speaker 8: need to do for us to just be like, Okay,
- 1:53:46Speaker 8: let's let's see it from Drake, because right now we're
- 1:53:48Speaker 8: in this weird middle ground, this gray area where he's
- 1:53:51Speaker 8: managing the game. He's doing everything you ask, but it's
- 1:53:54Speaker 8: just like we just wanted to be a little.
- 1:53:55Speaker 3: Sexier, Yeah, and I mean, it's just every time you
- 1:53:59Speaker 3: hear about people are open downfield, and it's like, maybe,
- 1:54:02Speaker 3: like the fantasy land is that Drake May is exactly
- 1:54:04Speaker 3: what they're gonna need. You know, he's gonna be able
- 1:54:06Speaker 3: to hold them, you know. I think your point about
- 1:54:07Speaker 3: the short passes though, that's the thing. It's like, can
- 1:54:10Speaker 3: he hit that stuff in rhythm? Is he you know,
- 1:54:11Speaker 3: going to shy away from Pop Douglas. But they haven't
- 1:54:14Speaker 3: thrown it.
- 1:54:14Speaker 5: They haven't even called any real shots. I think they've
- 1:54:18Speaker 5: had one and one in each game. But to me,
- 1:54:20Speaker 5: there has to have been more opportunities to hit a
- 1:54:23Speaker 5: crossing route or throwing out where the guys kind of open,
- 1:54:27Speaker 5: you know, just just gotta let it rip, you know,
- 1:54:30Speaker 5: get one down the scene even you know, maybe you
- 1:54:33Speaker 5: know over the linebackers in front of the safeties. You know,
- 1:54:35Speaker 5: it's pretty tough throws. There was one in the birth
- 1:54:38Speaker 5: one of the first throws of the game against Cincinnati.
- 1:54:40Speaker 5: I thought he had Austin Hooper maybe the first third down.
- 1:54:45Speaker 5: It was kind of like an over route, you know,
- 1:54:47Speaker 5: toward the sideline.
- 1:54:48Speaker 3: Hooper wasn't watching them, Hooper.
- 1:54:51Speaker 5: Was driving the boat if it it but it just
- 1:54:55Speaker 5: kind of fell into a safe there. We used to
- 1:54:58Speaker 5: play bubble football here again. We used to have all
- 1:55:01Speaker 5: kinds of fun. When Mike wasn't games, I ruined it
- 1:55:04Speaker 5: and I used to because I used to. I used
- 1:55:06Speaker 5: to throw the ball like really softly to space because
- 1:55:10Speaker 5: like you're not like there's a fine line between playing
- 1:55:13Speaker 5: bubble football and being what is bubble for a hero?
- 1:55:16Speaker 5: You know in the bubble Oh you just around bubble.
- 1:55:20Speaker 5: We used to play when.
- 1:55:21Speaker 8: There's a fine line between just having a fun catch
- 1:55:25Speaker 8: and what happened at our media football game.
- 1:55:27Speaker 2: I was trying to be.
- 1:55:29Speaker 5: That kind of stuff. It's good we got to work
- 1:55:31Speaker 5: on the The last thing I wanted to do is like, oh,
- 1:55:33Speaker 5: he's he's kind of open. I'm going to gym this
- 1:55:35Speaker 5: one in bang and break a finger, you know, Like
- 1:55:39Speaker 5: that's how Brisett throws. Like I'm going to put it.
- 1:55:42Speaker 5: If I put it right on his shoulder, he has
- 1:55:44Speaker 5: a chance to catch it, but then the other guy
- 1:55:45Speaker 5: has a chance to knock it away. So I'm going
- 1:55:47Speaker 5: to put it over there a little bit, you know,
- 1:55:49Speaker 5: with that way.
- 1:55:49Speaker 6: It just fall.
- 1:55:50Speaker 5: If you're picking zones, only my guy can get it,
- 1:55:52Speaker 5: but more than likely it's going to be incomplete.
- 1:55:55Speaker 3: Not only not everybody played high level high school football
- 1:55:58Speaker 3: like correct power A right were twenty two lead. It's
- 1:56:01Speaker 3: my favorite. Well when you said bubble full sinking to
- 1:56:03Speaker 3: the bubble hockey game, which I'm sure all my hockey
- 1:56:05Speaker 3: I was the bubble hockey game. I mean I remember
- 1:56:09Speaker 3: going into a rink in La like random middle of
- 1:56:11Speaker 3: the valley, taking the kids learn to skate, and they
- 1:56:13Speaker 3: had the b you know, it's like, that's just it's
- 1:56:16Speaker 3: the best. Yeah, the song that you know, play like
- 1:56:19Speaker 3: the music and stuff.
- 1:56:21Speaker 5: Did you beat Campbell? Oh?
- 1:56:23Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, come on, what are you doing?
- 1:56:25Speaker 5: No?
- 1:56:25Speaker 3: I think it was one of those ones where like
- 1:56:26Speaker 3: the puckets stuck on the back of the net and
- 1:56:27Speaker 3: you gotta like wrangle the whole thing and it's a
- 1:56:30Speaker 3: big pain in the butt.
- 1:56:30Speaker 5: Ah, got to get one.
- 1:56:32Speaker 3: More question here about the defense from my guy David
- 1:56:34Speaker 3: and Bethlehem Pats need White and Jennings to dial up
- 1:56:38Speaker 3: rushes and then it goes on Rogers just can't run
- 1:56:42Speaker 3: go get them, and Evan's right, Stevenson should run right
- 1:56:45Speaker 3: at them. Last point, how about two backs with Stevenson
- 1:56:47Speaker 3: getting the fake and Hasty going the water bug end around.
- 1:56:52Speaker 3: I just would say Jennings like like to get a
- 1:56:55Speaker 3: little more out of him. I mean, White, I can't.
- 1:56:57Speaker 3: You can't ask for more than he's given you. I
- 1:57:00Speaker 3: was slow to see him in the summer. I'm not
- 1:57:02Speaker 3: slow to see him now. He's obviously playing awesome and
- 1:57:04Speaker 3: it's a huge boost for the defense, and they just
- 1:57:07Speaker 3: need more though, they need you know, they need Dietrich
- 1:57:09Speaker 3: Wise to remember early last couple of seasons, t Wise
- 1:57:12Speaker 3: is like comes out on fire, has a you know,
- 1:57:13Speaker 3: two sack games.
- 1:57:13Speaker 8: You just had like a three second game, you know,
- 1:57:16Speaker 8: means like if.
- 1:57:17Speaker 3: They're gonna win that they need that game to happen.
- 1:57:19Speaker 3: And I just I'm kind of I'm kind of losing
- 1:57:22Speaker 3: faith that anyone else is going to really emerge.
- 1:57:24Speaker 8: That's kind of why I said to be in the show,
- 1:57:26Speaker 8: Like I wouldn't have wished the Patriots pass rush on
- 1:57:29Speaker 8: my worst enemy, like even as recently as last year,
- 1:57:32Speaker 8: And I don't know, it's just.
- 1:57:34Speaker 5: A hard way to live.
- 1:57:35Speaker 3: I mean that's you know, that's the game, that's the game,
- 1:57:37Speaker 3: getting after the quarterback, getting guys uncomfortable, having athletic pieces
- 1:57:41Speaker 3: up front.
- 1:57:41Speaker 5: I mean, me and Paul we got.
- 1:57:42Speaker 3: Into a thing last night on cell phones on cell
- 1:57:44Speaker 3: phones texting about about and you know how he's got
- 1:57:47Speaker 3: metrics of always he's getting pressure. I'm like, he's getting
- 1:57:50Speaker 3: pressure there though, like the lowest ranked pressure team in
- 1:57:52Speaker 3: the league right now, and he's like.
- 1:57:54Speaker 8: You know, also, I think judea On freed up a lot.
- 1:57:58Speaker 8: Of course, that's what was it two years ago? Where
- 1:58:01Speaker 8: had that really breakout year And everyone almost like, oh,
- 1:58:03Speaker 8: it's no problem if Judon goes down because we have Luche,
- 1:58:06Speaker 8: we have Bentley, and it.
- 1:58:08Speaker 3: Just he's I mean, he's a quick guy. Like he's quick.
- 1:58:11Speaker 3: He's hard for some of the bigger tackles to really
- 1:58:14Speaker 3: get under him, and so I think he does. But
- 1:58:16Speaker 3: that's that's his skill, that's his.
- 1:58:17Speaker 5: One trend and he's yeah, he's done that a little bit.
- 1:58:19Speaker 5: But I just like the numbers would would indicate that
- 1:58:22Speaker 5: he's been among the best in the league in the
- 1:58:24Speaker 5: first two weeks, and I haven't noticed him that much.
- 1:58:26Speaker 5: There have been occasional flashes on the edge. He might
- 1:58:29Speaker 5: be right, he's very athletic. It's a pressure he has
- 1:58:31Speaker 5: an ability to get put in to get that tackle,
- 1:58:34Speaker 5: you get the edge on that tackle. But I don't
- 1:58:36Speaker 5: think I've seen it a lot.
- 1:58:37Speaker 3: It's like the team rush though, and that's why he's
- 1:58:39Speaker 3: a good part of it because he can win. You know,
- 1:58:42Speaker 3: we talk so much about winning one on one matchups
- 1:58:44Speaker 3: being the key. And I mean, again, the Jets are
- 1:58:45Speaker 3: the best pass rushing you know, pressure team with just
- 1:58:48Speaker 3: rushing four guys, which that's where you want to be
- 1:58:50Speaker 3: as a defense. Like four guys, all of them can
- 1:58:52Speaker 3: get get after the ball, and it's just been too long.
- 1:58:55Speaker 3: I mean maybe next year if Barmore is able to
- 1:58:57Speaker 3: come back to you or White in the middle, that's.
- 1:58:59Speaker 5: Kind of get it. Like with the Jets, so like
- 1:59:01Speaker 5: Jermaine Johnson's a really good pass rusher for them, and
- 1:59:03Speaker 5: he's out, you know, and they have a former first
- 1:59:05Speaker 5: round pick and Will McDonald who again he's been a
- 1:59:08Speaker 5: little bit of a disappointment so far, but they have
- 1:59:10Speaker 5: the ability to use him. They made a trade to
- 1:59:14Speaker 5: get Hassan Reddick. Now he's pouting and holding out for
- 1:59:18Speaker 5: a contract. Okay, But just like the depth of talent,
- 1:59:23Speaker 5: Like I'm not talking about what it's going to end
- 1:59:24Speaker 5: up being, but like you look at the different options
- 1:59:28Speaker 5: that they have and that Tac McKinley is a guy
- 1:59:30Speaker 5: who's sort of bounced around the league and been a disappointment.
- 1:59:34Speaker 5: He's like the fifth guy, like another former first round
- 1:59:37Speaker 5: pick who that's perfect Belichick kind of signing like been
- 1:59:41Speaker 5: a disappointment, But this talent that allowed him to be
- 1:59:43Speaker 5: a first round pick, maybe we can tap into that.
- 1:59:46Speaker 5: And they're not asking him to go out there and
- 1:59:48Speaker 5: get twenty sacks. They're asking him to maybe go out
- 1:59:51Speaker 5: and play five plays and see if he can do something. Now,
- 1:59:53Speaker 5: maybe that role will increase with the injuries that they have,
- 1:59:57Speaker 5: But I just look at you know, Anfony Jennings. Anthony
- 2:00:00Speaker 5: Jennings is a run setter. He's an edgesetter. He's a
- 2:00:03Speaker 5: physical linebacker who does his job. Well, yeah, but I
- 2:00:07Speaker 5: don't think that's in his skill set.
- 2:00:08Speaker 3: No, neither do I. All Right, well, I think we
- 2:00:11Speaker 3: did a good job bringing the train home.
- 2:00:15Speaker 2: We did.
- 2:00:15Speaker 3: Okay, my voice isn't great, but of course, Paul and
- 2:00:18Speaker 3: I will be back tomorrow night, six o'clock Patriots pregame

- 2:00:27Speaker 8: Probably on my couch though monitoring it's.
