- 0:23SPEAKER_00: Jacob put the maids with their children first.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Then he put Leah and her children behind them, and he put Rachel and Joseph in the last place.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Jacob went out before them.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: While he was walking toward his brother Esau, he bowed down to the ground seven times.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: When Esau saw Jacob, he ran to meet him.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: He put his arms around Jacob, hugged his neck, and kissed him.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: Then they both cried.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Esau looked up and saw the women and children.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: He said, Who are all these people with you?
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: Jacob answered, These are the children that God gave me.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: God has been good to me.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: Then the two maids and the children went with them to Esau.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: They bowed down before him.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Then Leah and the children with her went to Esau and bowed down.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: And then Rachel and Joseph went to him and bowed down.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Esau said, Who were all those people I saw while I was coming here?
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: And what are all those animals for?
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: Jacob answered, These are my gifts to you so that you might accept me.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: But Esau said, You don't have to give me gifts, brother.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: I have enough for myself.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Jacob said no, I beg you, if you really accept me, please accept the gifts I give you.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: I am very happy to see your face again.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: It is like seeing the face of God.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: I am very happy that you accept me, so I beg you also to accept the gifts I give to you.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: God has been very good to me.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: I have more than I need, because Jacob begged Esau to take the gifts, he accepted them.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: Then Esau said, Now you can continue your journey.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: I will go with you.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: But Jacob said to him, You know that my children are weak, and I must be careful with my fox and their young animals.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: If I force them to walk too far in one day, all of the animals will die.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: So you go on ahead.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: I will follow you slowly.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: I will go slowly enough for the cattle and other animals to be safe, so that my children will not get too tired.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: I will meet you in Seir.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: So Esau said, Then I will leave some of my men to help you.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: But Jacob said, That is very kind of you, but there is no need to do that.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: So that day Esau started back on his trip to Seir.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: But Jacob went to Sakath.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: There he built a house for himself and small barns for his cattle.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: That is why the place was named Sakh.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: Jacob safely ended his trip from Padan Aram when he came to the town of Shechem in Canaan.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: He made his camp in a field near the city.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: He bought the field where he camped from the family of Hamor, the father of Shechem.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: He paid one hundred pieces of silver for it.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: He built an altar there to honor God.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: He named the place El, the God of Israel.
