Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Direct from Hollywood with Ryan Seacrest.
- 0:03Speaker 2: The comedy talk show Z-Way, named after its host, ran
- 0:06Speaker 2: for two seasons on Showtime before being canceled, forcing Z-Way
- 0:09Speaker 2: to make the transition to YouTube, where she now hosts
- 0:12Speaker 2: the similarly formatted You'd Be an Iconic Guest. And she's
- 0:15Speaker 2: in no rush to come back to TV.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Yeah, she tells Variety, YouTube is sort of this great
- 0:21Speaker 3: equalizer because of how hard it is to sell and
- 0:24Speaker 3: produce a TV series.
- 0:25Speaker 4: You rely on the approval of others and their notes.
- 0:28Speaker 4: She says, with YouTube, you create it, and boom, it's online.
- 0:32Speaker 4: That's why it's the best experience for someone who's artistic,
- 0:35Speaker 4: who wants to create their own art.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Yeah, Ziwe argues that.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Digital creators are the new Hollywood, and she was inspired
- 0:41Speaker 3: by YouTube's success stories to even consider entertainment as a career,
- 0:45Speaker 3: pointing to Issa Rae, Abby Jacobson and Ilana Glazer as inspirations.
- 0:50Speaker 2: But while Z-Way loves her life on YouTube, she won't
- 0:53Speaker 2: rule out a return to traditional TV if the opportunity arises,
- 0:56Speaker 2: saying she'll go through the cycle of life in entertainment.
- 0:59Speaker 5: But the one thing that's been consistent throughout her career
- 1:02Speaker 5: is her YouTube channel.
- 1:04Speaker 2: And that's precisely where you can stream Z-Way's You'd Be
- 1:07Speaker 2: an Iconic Guest Now.
- 1:09Speaker 1: That's direct from Hollywood.
