- 1:16Now let's go deep, deep inside. What?
- 1:20I am excited. This is inside baseball.
- 1:24I love Lisa Ann. Droba Droba ass liquor.
- 1:28You want my cream? Let's start off inside baseball
- 1:32the right way by talking about some New York baseball we're
- 1:37going to talk a little bit about.
- 1:38We're probably going to talk about half of them ETS.
- 1:41I'm sorry. Now, the Mets earlier today
- 1:44shipped away Jeff McNeil to the Oakland Athletics for a rookie
- 1:49ball pitcher and cash considerations going to the A's,
- 1:55meaning McNeil is basically being paid to play for another
- 1:59team. That's what the Mets think of
- 2:02him at this point in his career. That's just the latest in
- 2:08subtractions from the Mets roster this offseason.
- 2:13We're going to talk about who they've added that seem to be
- 2:16from their crosstown rival in a second.
- 2:19So we'll stay away from that. We'll get to that in the next
- 2:21segment of this. But man, you got to think
- 2:26there's got to be some kind of big swing coming from Stearns
- 2:29after everyone's being jettisoned here.
- 2:32I know Speedy is a Met fan and I, I, I definitely want to hear
- 2:35his take to it. But we've seen this before with
- 2:38Mets. They, they let these guys go,
- 2:41they go to a team and they completely just become stars
- 2:45again. And McNeil, he at one point was
- 2:47a great defender and he was a decent hitter.
- 2:50I mean, he hit for average very well at some parts of his career
- 2:53over there. They did this with Daniel,
- 2:56what's his name, Daniel Murphy. Daniel Murphy went to the
- 2:58Nationals and was very successful there.
- 3:01I could see that with McNeil. But what's interesting to me is
- 3:05the New York Mets have been known to bring in guys that you
- 3:07never heard of, you know, prospects from all other
- 3:11organizations. And I know this is this is
- 3:13Stearns. And we'll see how this bolds.
- 3:15Well, when it comes to the A's and some of the prospects,
- 3:18because the Yankees have sent prospects to the A's and they've
- 3:20never amounted to anything. I'm going to tell you this right
- 3:23now, I will believe I've never heard of these prospects that
- 3:27they got or the main prospect and I think they're going to
- 3:30fall flat on their face. McNeil is going to be become a a
- 3:34pretty good player for the A's and the A's are going to move
- 3:36them to the Yankees at the trade deadline and he's going to be a
- 3:40player that the Yankees could put at their base or second base
- 3:43because Jazz Chism goes down. I think the Mets are going to
- 3:47regret doing this. I do believe that.
- 3:49Yeah, it it's inevitable. When it seemed like Rory
- 3:52Polanco's contract, who is a better player at this point, but
- 3:55they don't want to spend all that money all at once in the
- 3:57infield. Obviously they're not paying the
- 3:58Entos anything but Lador now trading for Simeon and then
- 4:01paying Polanco now like. Polanco played in Seattle.
- 4:04I know and Polanco's, he had like 2 good years with the
- 4:07Twins. Offensively, he had a good year
- 4:08last year, obviously was picking the playoffs, but he's a
- 4:10notoriously streaky player throughout his career, so I
- 4:13don't know how much I trust it now.
- 4:14Mcneil's been that same kind of thing too when he's been kind of
- 4:17pole ball happy. He hasn't been the type of
- 4:19hitter overall. Buck Showalter his first year
- 4:21changed that kind of thing in 2022 and and avoiding A batting
- 4:24title, but he's been pull happy again.
- 4:27So what offense you're going to get out of it is another
- 4:29question. But I always like the
- 4:30versatility with him. He's been improved as a
- 4:32defensive outfielder, so I'm surprised they did it for this
- 4:34small. I was I was thinking they might
- 4:36shop him and see what they get. Do you?
- 4:38Believe. Do you believe that that Nimmo
- 4:40and McNeil had their problems with Lindor and Soda?
- 4:44Because that's the story right now.
- 4:45The locker room, they were kind of split apart and what I heard
- 4:50is Nimmo and Soto did not get along.
- 4:53And I know Nimmo and McNeil were very close.
- 4:57Do you believe that maybe the Mets were just trying to get rid
- 5:00of the poison or just get these guys out of there because they
- 5:03wanted to make their superstars happy?
- 5:05I think that makes more sense because to just throw away
- 5:09Nimos, a pretty good player, and then and send them to Texas and
- 5:14then give McNeil away for nothing.
- 5:16The prospects we never even heard of, I think they're to me,
- 5:20the Mets are reaching here. Yeah, it's interesting because
- 5:22the Nimmo, Alonzo and McNeil, those are the core that came up
- 5:25in 2019 before Lindor. And oh, by the way, I forgot
- 5:28Pete Alonso is no longer with the team either.
- 5:29That's. The core that came up before
- 5:31they traded for Lindor in 2021, Now Lindor obviously being named
- 5:35the captain of the team, I guess maybe that has, I guess some say
- 5:38in it. I just hope they have a better
- 5:39Plan B with the money if they're going to get rid of Mcneil's
- 5:42contract because again, it wasn't a great contract.
- 5:44It seemed like a good one at the time when actually it was Eppler
- 5:47that signed it after he won the batting title.
- 5:49And it still wasn't much at the time, but he fell off badly
- 5:51offense. And again, his defense is
- 5:53improved. But again, it's not like it's
- 5:54like this guy's a Gold Glove caliber defender.
- 5:57And that's where I think they better Cern's better of a good,
- 5:59better Plan B with that kind of money.
- 6:01So, you know, I heard the Nimmo thing and I almost did a sports
- 6:05minute on it a week ago when I first started.
- 6:08I decided not to, wanted to see if it plays out in what I heard
- 6:11is that it was political nonsense that they just didn't
- 6:14agree politically. And I I just don't understand
- 6:17why that's something that's going on in the locker room.
- 6:19I guess that's something that teams have to navigate these
- 6:22days. But The Jets, The Jets, the Mets
- 6:26just getting rid of everybody. I guess they're trying to reset
- 6:29around their stars that they spent all their money on.
- 6:33If Jeff McNeil is making 17, do you?
- 6:35Think it's a kowinky dink, and I say that a lot Do you think it's
- 6:39a kowinky dink? That Soto was there for one year
- 6:42and their three players, their core players are now gone after
- 6:45one year? Come on man, something tells me
- 6:48there was something not working in that locker room because how
- 6:51do you let you know I. Heard like Soto and Lindor don't
- 6:53really get along either so. I I don't, I've never heard that
- 6:57because they train in the offseason with each other.
- 7:00So like, it's just not approachable.
- 7:02I don't know. I don't want to speculate.
- 7:04I used to teach in the Bronx. If you act, you know, it was
- 7:08like a big deal if you accidentally called a Puerto
- 7:10Rican kid Dominican or a Dominican kid Puerto Rican.
- 7:13Doesn't always work. Those two, those two groups.
- 7:17Just saying, I've been in those communities, but you never know.
- 7:22I do hope that they get it together because it doesn't seem
- 7:24like they're doing anything special other than signing a
- 7:28bunch of former Yankees. This offseason, they've added
- 7:33both Devin Williams and Luke Weaver, the closers for the
- 7:38Yankees for the last two seasons.
- 7:42I don't know, Errol, if you asked me as a Yankee fan what
- 7:48was the weakness of the team, I would say late inning bullpen.
- 7:54Yet the Mets and Sterns, they they're watching.
- 7:58They're just, they're just carving up, you know, like
- 8:01licking their chops. Oh my God, look at look, Weaver.
- 8:04He's tipping his bitches. We'll fix them.
- 8:06He's going to be great. What a great value I'll get,
- 8:09just like I did in Milwaukee. And oh, Devin Williams, I had
- 8:12him in Milwaukee. I can fix him.
- 8:15He throws, there's great spin rate on his change up still.
- 8:21I I don't know, Errol. I thought they were two of the
- 8:24worst late inning relievers in all the baseball last year and
- 8:26it's why the Yankees weren't good enough.
- 8:28You tell me. My question to all you Met fans
- 8:33is how did Clay Holmes work in the second-half of the season?
- 8:37That's what I want to know because Clay Holmes was a
- 8:40reliever for the New York Yankees, a close at one point,
- 8:43and for the first half, first month, month and 1/2, he was
- 8:46unstoppable, untouchable, and just like the Yankees in the
- 8:49second-half, falls off as a starter and was nothing.
- 8:53And eventually during the playoffs, the Mets moved him to
- 8:56the bullpen. He stinks.
- 8:58And I'm, I like Luke Weaver. I like him.
- 9:01I, I like what he did with the Yankees two years ago, but he
- 9:03was really bad this year. And Devin Williams, he did not
- 9:07fit well with the Yankees as far as the bullpen is concerned,
- 9:10especially in New York. Maybe Bell going back to the
- 9:13National League and playing against the National League type
- 9:16of talent. I don't know what it is.
- 9:18But what I do know is this is typical.
- 9:21This is very Met like for them to take a Yankee or a bunch of
- 9:26Yankee players and bring them to the Mets and think that they
- 9:28could fix them. Juan Soto, he's a special
- 9:31player. There's no question that he is,
- 9:33and he had a very good season. Juan Soto couldn't get the Mets
- 9:37over the hump. Juan Soto with Pete Alonzo
- 9:40playing the way he was with Lindor, playing at some aspects
- 9:45at the top of his game, couldn't get over on the hump.
- 9:47What makes them think Devin Williams and Luke Weaver is
- 9:51going to get them there too? So I think it's a joke.
- 9:53I think it's very Stearns like. I got a, I've got a a motion for
- 9:58this. I got something that from that
- 10:00fans could use. Now if it doesn't work, I did a
- 10:03Stearns. Yeah, it seems like he's trying
- 10:06to obsess with all these types of hybrids at this point.
- 10:09I think Clay Holmes overall for the Mets last year was a net
- 10:12positive compared to what they had.
- 10:14But yeah, it's still not the ideal of like, OK, you want to
- 10:16sign all these big signings and give them double digit money per
- 10:18year. When you have this Uncle Steve,
- 10:21you know, we'll let me spend money.
- 10:22I always bashed him for not going after the younger starting
- 10:25pitcher, like in their prime or in their prime starting pitcher.
- 10:28Doesn't have to be an All Star level, like school, but maybe
- 10:30two of the next tier of type of guys.
- 10:32And yet they're settling for all these guys at this point, I
- 10:34don't really like the strategy either.
- 10:35Weaver was good as a starter for one year at the Cardinals and
- 10:38one year as a reliever. The Yankees came over, did well.
- 10:41But again, it's too streaky for my liking, too.
- 10:43I'm not crazy about it. All right, well, let's move on.
- 10:46The next major topic is going to shift a little bit to the other
- 10:52side of New York, to the Bronx, where it appears the Yankees
- 10:58just think they're good enough as is right now.
- 11:01Let's lose both of our again, not so great late inning
- 11:05relievers. We kept, I believe we kept Paul
- 11:09Blackburn. Is that right?
- 11:11Is that? The was it Chase Blackburn was
- 11:15the former Giant who just got fired as a special teams coach.
- 11:19But you know, that's who that's that was the big move.
- 11:22They got some other Flyers. They're they're poking around
- 11:26the edges. Kyle Tucker sitting out there.
- 11:29Cody Bellinger still sitting out there.
- 11:32You think that they're going to be in on at least one of them?
- 11:36What in God's name are they waiting for, though?
- 11:40Because it appears that they think that they're fine.
- 11:45And this is one of those like things that makes you go crazy
- 11:49about Cashman. Things that makes me go.
- 11:51Guys. Remember that song Things that
- 11:53Make Me Go? No, I don't remember.
- 11:57That you don't know. See CNC Music Factory.
- 11:59You never heard that song? Remember it?
- 12:02No. If I heard it maybe once or
- 12:04twice, if it was remembered, I would have been like -11 years
- 12:07old. But I I do think.
- 12:10You're not that much younger than me buddy so.
- 12:13CNC. Music Factory nineties, 90s hit.
- 12:17It's like. All right, we'll look it up at
- 12:21during the break. The inaction of the Yankees is
- 12:25obviously one of the stories right now.
- 12:27What are they doing? It just makes me think that they
- 12:30they're too smart for their own good over there with Lenny MIT
- 12:34and all the guys in the windowless room.
- 12:36Another tow job keeps on the hamster.
- 12:38That. That's the most I've gotten from
- 12:40Jabba all night. Another tow job.
- 12:43Oh, this makes my pecker hard. Here's the thing.
- 12:47I think the Yankees are waiting. They're sitting on it.
- 12:50They're going to spin the wheel and make the deal if Cody
- 12:53Bellinger is not signed by January 1st.
- 12:56And remember, spring trading is right around the corner and
- 13:00pitchers and catchers are going to be meeting in February.
- 13:03I think the Yankees think that they can get Cody Bellinger on
- 13:06the cheap, maybe save themselves 1015 million.
- 13:09I think that's what Hal is doing, Hal sitting Pat and
- 13:12seeing how other teams are going to attack this.
- 13:15And usually after the new year, this is when these players get
- 13:19signed. I think that's what's going on
- 13:21right now. I think the Yankees will sign
- 13:23one or the other. It seems like it's going to be
- 13:26Cody Bellinger because I think he wants to be Yankee and him
- 13:29and Aaron and Judge have become very close friends.
- 13:32They're wives have become close friends.
- 13:34So I, I could see that happening.
- 13:37But Kyle Tucker is not going to be a Yankee.
- 13:39You can tell. I, I, I mean, you can book that
- 13:42how Steinberg coming out and saying what he said recently
- 13:45about the deferred money and the fact that the Yankees are trying
- 13:49to save it and that money is going in the wrong places tells
- 13:54me that Hal is not going to dig deep into his pockets for Kyle
- 13:58Tucker. Cody Bellinger makes a lot of
- 14:00sense. It's going to be either the
- 14:01Yankees and the Mets. I, I would push more to the Mets
- 14:05to get Cody Bellinger. But if the Mets strike out, I
- 14:07don't think Cody wants to play for the Mets.
- 14:10I think he would rather play for the Yankees.
- 14:12So I think that's the only way. If the Yankees give Cody $10
- 14:16million less and Cody wants to be a Yankee, that's the only way
- 14:19he stays a Yankee. I don't know what's going on
- 14:21with the Yankees. Maybe the Yankees see themselves
- 14:24bringing Spencer Jones or Spencer Jones is going to have a
- 14:28higher rating of opportunities early this season to be up in
- 14:33the big leagues. That's about it.
- 14:34That's the only thing I could say.
- 14:35Yeah, and also since obviously since the Mets trading McNeil
- 14:38now the outfield void, it's definitely could be there for
- 14:40Bellinger too. There's going to be the first
- 14:42base void if the Entos doesn't play there.
- 14:43So the Mets, you think could overpay for Bellinger.
- 14:45The Yankees, I agree with you. They're trying to play smart.
- 14:48Brian Cashman trying to get that same kind of combined value.
- 14:50And like Brian Hoke was saying last week, are the Yankees
- 14:52trying to like balance it out where they know like maybe one
- 14:55free agent is going to win everything?
- 14:57Because Kyle Tucker had a really bad second-half of the year.
- 14:59He was benched in certain games during August.
- 15:01And I think the Yankees and I think I heard the Dodgers who
- 15:03are not willing to give him a seven-year deal.
- 15:05So it'll be interesting to see how that shifts the market.
- 15:07Maybe. I think I've always said he goes
- 15:08back to the Cubs. Maybe that helps the team let
- 15:10the Cubs get in there, maybe helps the team with the Blue
- 15:12Jays get in there. That I know we're interested in
- 15:13him too. But I agree, the Bellinger seems
- 15:15more likely the Mets than the Yankees.
- 15:16I will say this, I want to give a shout out to Phillip Rivers
- 15:19again, 14 for 21176 yards, 2 touchdowns, no interceptions,
- 15:25175. I mean, this is a guy that
- 15:27hasn't played in five years and is playing this well.
- 15:31It's pretty, that's pretty amazing.
- 15:34Steve Weich, not a Hall of Famer.
- 15:38Your dinner with him will be great in 2030.
- 15:40Oh please, how could you not say this?
- 15:43Guy So before we move on, I'm just saying before we move on
- 15:46the Kyle Tucker slander Speedy, I have some more inside
- 15:49information about that because I've been a Kyle Tucker owner in
- 15:53fantasy in my my dynasty league that I do.
- 15:56And what he did is the Baker Mayfield thing.
- 16:00Errol where Baker Mayfield played in Cleveland with a bad
- 16:03shoulder and played poorly and they gave him no respect for
- 16:08gutting it out when no one else would step up to the plate or
- 16:11step up to the job. And Kyle Tucker played with a
- 16:14broken hand, didn't complain about it.
- 16:17He played like crap for about a month and 1/2 two months got a
- 16:20little bit better as it healed. He should have had surgery, he
- 16:24should have came back late season and they probably would
- 16:26have had a better record because he was an absolute, you know,
- 16:29like hole in the lineup when before.
- 16:31That we know where fish. 15 best players in the league during the
- 16:34first half of the season. So whoever gets him is getting,
- 16:39you know, if he's a depressed asset, I'd be all in on that
- 16:43one. I, I, I personally think he's a
- 16:44much better player than Cody Bellinger.
- 16:47I would take him before him, like every time he's younger, he
- 16:52had better stats, he's had better stats.
- 16:56He's only younger by a year. Cody's had the back injuries
- 16:58back Stone Age. Well, you know, give me give me
- 17:02like a fluke, a hand injury versus a bad back.
- 17:04But we'll see how it goes. There are some trades and you
- 17:07mentioned one. Let's revisit that one by the
- 17:10Red Sox. Get in their catcher, Wilson
- 17:13Contreras heads to Boston. Here's the deal and trade with
- 17:19the Cardinals. The Red Sox acquire first base
- 17:21and Wilson Contreras, the second big deal between the teams this
- 17:24winter. Contreras, 33 years old, is a
- 17:28right-handed hitter, one of the better gloves at the catcher
- 17:31position in the league. Elite.
- 17:34They're going to. Red Sox are going to get
- 17:35$8,000,000 to cover the remaining 42 1/2 on his
- 17:40contract. The Red Sox also send back
- 17:43Hunter Dobbins, as well as right-handed pitching prospects
- 17:47guy that I'm not going to try to pronounce his name of, and Blake
- 17:50Aida to the Cardinals. So again, that Sonny Gray deal
- 17:56is the earlier deal with Boston, which I mean, we thought was
- 18:00just just a hilarious landing spot for Sonny.
- 18:05Good luck. He'll have his battery mate
- 18:07catching him now. I don't know if that's a
- 18:09coincidence. I would be willing to bet it's
- 18:12not. What do you think?
- 18:14I like Wilson Contreras. I think he's going to be very
- 18:16good for the Red Sox. He's hit very well against the
- 18:19Yankees when he's played against the Yankees.
- 18:21I'm not saying that's why they brought him to the to Boston,
- 18:24but I think it has a lot to do with Sonny Gray.
- 18:26They want to make sure that Sonny Gray is comfortable
- 18:29pitching in Boston and Sonny Gray at some point.
- 18:33I mean, he could be their number two guy this year and that's
- 18:36what they estimate him to be if he's playing at the top of his
- 18:39game. Now, I, I again, I don't know
- 18:42what Sonny Gray is going to do in the American League East.
- 18:43And he's got the Yankees got a bone to pick with him when they
- 18:47do play the, when he does play the Yankees.
- 18:48So I'm sure the Yankees are going to go full force after
- 18:52him. And I think Wilson Contreras,
- 18:54he's a good hitter. He's he's to me an elite
- 18:57defender, elite game caller. I think he's perfect.
- 19:01I think this is a slam dunk for the Red Sox.
- 19:04I think this is good for both teams actually because the
- 19:06Cardinals needed to get younger for a while.
- 19:08And we don't know what those guys are going to be.
- 19:09I will say this though, Fish though the one name that has the
- 19:12hard spelling. I think they actually call him
- 19:13Scrabble, the nickname of it. He actually was a versatile
- 19:17outfielder and show some flashes last year.
- 19:19And I do like I ate as a prospector.
- 19:20So I didn't think the Cardinals got it.
- 19:21Got better as well, but the Red Sox need to get power within the
- 19:24catcher and first base position. Casas has not been healthy and
- 19:27the catcher position was a really big weakness for them
- 19:28offensely, so definitely a good move.
- 19:30For them as well, really when Casas went down, that's kind of
- 19:33when they kind of had to go into scramble mode.
- 19:36They never really figured out the infield last year.
- 19:39They thought, you know, that the Campbell was going to be the
- 19:43answer. After a good first month at
- 19:44second base, they had to send him down.
- 19:46They paid him and then had to send them down, which is wild.
- 19:50I mean, no one's really talking about that.
- 19:52That's one of the worst GM moves of last season.
- 19:56But again, the Red Sox are doing things.
- 20:00The Yankees are just sitting on their hands.
- 20:03There are some other teams in the AL East that are deciding to
- 20:06deal with each other. Errol as the Rays traded Shane
- 20:10Baz in the division to the Baltimore Orioles, who
- 20:15absolutely needed the pitching. The Orioles acquired
- 20:18right-hander Shane Baz to trade with Tampa Bay Rays, sending a
- 20:21four prospect package and the draft pick in a rare a vision
- 20:26deal. So the Orioles wanted Baz.
- 20:29They paid a lot for him, although he you can argue he
- 20:33didn't have a very good season last year. 166 and a third, 176
- 20:39strikeouts. So more than a strikeout, an
- 20:40inning, 64 walks and a 487 ERA. Got lit up for much of the
- 20:48season. Had a good first month and 1/2
- 20:50or so. He had one of the best ER as in
- 20:52baseball and then he was one of the worst pitchers in baseball
- 20:55for most of the rest of the way. Good strikeout pitcher, though.
- 20:59Kind of brings Dylan Cease to mind when I when I think of him.
- 21:04Good, good strikeout numbers, yet gives up way too many big
- 21:09hits. The Orioles needed an arm, but
- 21:11they gave up a lot. You know, again, these
- 21:13prospects, but they gave up a high draft pick.
- 21:15They gave up. They gave up, you know, kind of
- 21:18like an All Star level type of package.
- 21:20I I think I I. Think that when you look at the
- 21:23O's, the O's are reaching and the Rays are going to win this
- 21:27trade. They always do.
- 21:28They always win these trades. These players become stars or
- 21:32two of them become stars out of the bunch, and they're just
- 21:36other targets for other teams in the future.
- 21:38They they, they use them, they slice them, they dice them until
- 21:41they don't need them anymore and the Rays throw them out and they
- 21:44get more back for them. I think this is a great move for
- 21:46the Rays. This is very Rays like I shame
- 21:50boss. I've seen him pitch a couple of
- 21:51times against the Yankees. He's been up and down against
- 21:54the Yankees over the over the last two seasons.
- 21:56I don't know what shame boss is going to be.
- 21:59I do know that this is the American League East and this is
- 22:02the hardest division in in sports, the 100 hardest division
- 22:05in baseball, and they have to face off against some of the
- 22:08best teams, including the Red Sox and the Yankees.
- 22:11And now even the Rays just tells me that they're barking up the
- 22:16wrong. Oh, and the Blue Jays, too,
- 22:17barking up the wrong tree. So I, I, I think this is a bad
- 22:21trade and I think the team that's going to be smelling the
- 22:24roses is the Rays, as they always are.
- 22:26Yep, the Rays needed quantity. They have a lot of these
- 22:28pitchers that have been injury prone and Mcclanahan obviously
- 22:30was the big name. They had Tommy John surgery
- 22:32recently shot Taj Bradley, another one Fish that had
- 22:34probably could strike out numbers, but a lot of a lot of
- 22:36home runs and bars. In that same kind of way the
- 22:38Orioles get a lefty, maybe they could trust their new ownership,
- 22:41their new analytics department to help them out a little.
- 22:44But yeah, it's definitely a lot for just one pitcher.
- 22:46They need more than depth to start spending more on pitching.
- 22:49Well, guess what? The Rays had more to do, and the
- 22:52Rays never seem to lose these deals.
- 22:55One more thing left here in INSIDE baseball.
- 22:58Every couple of years someone says, oh I know who's stupid,
- 23:01the Pirates. Let's see if they'll take an
- 23:04aging player who used to be really good coming off of
- 23:08probably his last good season. Pirates trade for second baseman
- 23:12Brandon Lowe from the Tampa Bay Rays.
- 23:14It's part of a three team deal that also included the Astros.
- 23:18The Rays send Lowe, left-hander Mason Montgomery and outfielder
- 23:21Jake Mangum to Pittsburgh. The Pirates deal right-handed
- 23:25pitcher Mike Burrows to Houston. Tampa acquires a bunch of
- 23:29prospects from Houston as a part of the deal not listed there.
- 23:33I can give. You the answer right now about
- 23:35this, by the way. But I guarantee you those
- 23:37prospects are better than whoever was traded because it's
- 23:40the Rays. The Rays and the Rays get
- 23:43richer. I I this is a joke.
- 23:46It's an absolute joke. The Rays are smiling.
- 23:48This is a joke. I I honestly think about it.
- 23:52They made two trades and they got a boatload.
- 23:55This could be their roster in about 5 years.
- 23:59They got about 7 guys for two and honestly not very good or
- 24:05three and not very good. They're okay players.
- 24:08I, I think this is an absolute slam dunk for the race.
- 24:10I don't even think there's any argument to this.
- 24:12I don't even think we got to go deeper into this.
- 24:15Who cares what Houston got? Who cares what the Pirates got?
- 24:18I want to see in five years what the Rays got, because whatever,
- 24:24anywhere you spin the wheel, make the deal, you play dice or
- 24:27you're playing any kind of card game, you're going to bet on the
- 24:30Rays every single time. I'm betting on the raves.
- 24:34This is this is just absolutely a joke.
- 24:36I don't. There's nothing more to say
- 24:37about this. Yeah, like a serial, nothing
- 24:39more. Burroughs is not really that
- 24:41good of a pitcher. I don't think Houston's going to
- 24:42get anything out of this. Magnum, I think is good.
- 24:44Lao, You're right, Fish. The best days are behind him.
- 24:46The Rays are definitely winning this deal.
- 24:48So wait, isn't it Brandon Lowe and it was Josh Lao?
- 24:52Yes, and and it was, and it was Nathaniel.
- 24:54And it was Nathaniel Lowe too, when he was there as well a
- 24:58while ago. That was confusing, but here's
- 25:02the thing, Low in this situation, power hitting second
- 25:06baseman, not a lot of guys like that.
- 25:07He's only 31 years old. The problem with him is that he
- 25:12has a bad back, Errol, and he's 31 and he has a much worse back
- 25:16than Cody Bellinger, who's hasn't had a bad back in number
- 25:19of years. He just had his first healthy
- 25:21year in a while. He's only a rental because he's
- 25:24only got one year left on his deal.
- 25:25He ain't staying in Pittsburgh because it ain't going to be any
- 25:28good. Who?
- 25:28Cares the raise the raise, but. They get the Rays always get the
- 25:31prospects they find the way to get.
- 25:34They're a smart organization that know how to buy into
- 25:37prospects and building prospects.
- 25:39And that's why the raise and I, I, I wouldn't be surprised by by
- 25:43the six or seven players they got in.
- 25:46These two trades are part of their lineup in the net or in
- 25:49pitching staff in the next five years.
- 25:52And they're big parts of those of those pieces where they can
- 25:56make a run for another World Series, which fall in short
- 25:59every single time. But eventually they're going to
- 26:01get it right. That's all I'm going to say,
- 26:04Tyler Glass. Now you'll look at all the other
- 26:06guys that they've had over the years and that what what kind of
- 26:09prospects they've gotten from all these guys, and they're
- 26:12going to do the same thing to McClain, right?
- 26:14Mcclanahan. Mcclanahan Mcclanahan will come
- 26:17back from his UCL tear and he'll pitch well for one year and
- 26:22he'll be trading and he'll get a boatload for.
- 26:23Him, I think he's already getting offers this off season.
- 26:26He'll he'll get, they'll get a boatload of players back for him
- 26:30as well. So there you go.
- 26:32All right, ladies and gentlemen, we call this Tic Tac.
- 26:34No. Morris right in the butt.
- 26:40We get the prizes cheap because they're stolen.
- 26:42No, no. No, no, no, no, no.
- 26:51Sometimes I sit on it. I got the bubble gum.
- 26:53I had to take a shit. He's probably taking a crap
- 26:55right now because he's hanging out with the fam, eating some
- 26:58soup, eating some chicken liver. I don't know if he's eating
- 27:02chicken liver, but he's eating some.
- 27:03Chicken liver. Chicken liver.
- 27:05Yeah, Chicken liver, you just said.
- 27:07Like chicken liver, like it was like a sexy thing to eat.
- 27:10I don't know, maybe it is to Jabba Chamberlain.
- 27:13Liver. Dude, he lives in Nebraska in
- 27:15the cornfields. What do they eat?
- 27:17You think they eat chicken liver in Nebraska?
- 27:20What did you mean they eat? They eat like.
- 27:22Cinnamon. Rolls dipped in chili.
- 27:25Whatever that mysterious food that he brought.
- 27:26Up the rump roast runs. Us as.
- 27:29Long as she runs us taking care of my 2 hole I'm good and.
- 27:32It's probably going to be taking.
- 27:33Every. After the end of the.
- 27:35Night he'll have to take care of his 2 hole if he's eating
- 27:36chicken liver. All right, taking.
- 27:38Shit, since John was not here we'll actually start Tic Tac
- 27:40though actually with some with some hockey.
- 27:42So Sidney Crosby gave up as a surpassed Mario Lemieux in terms
- 27:46of all time points on the NHL all time list.
- 27:49So four of the top ten all time scorers, including Crosby and
- 27:52Lemieux, played with the Penguins during their career.
- 27:55Jager was the other one. Crosby, Lemieux, Who was the
- 27:574th? Ron Francis.
- 28:02It is Ron Francis. Very good.
- 28:03There you go. I was either Ron Francis.
- 28:05It was either Ron Francis or Mark Recky, one of those guys.
- 28:08Recky is not top 10. I know, but I that was that
- 28:11would be my guess. One or the other so.
- 28:14All right, all right, let's go right to the middle.
- 28:17Next question, Speedy? All right, so Mike Tomlin has
- 28:20clinched his 19th straight winning season, or most non
- 28:25losing season I should say, tying Bill Belichick for second
- 28:28all time, who is first with 21 straights. 21 straight.
- 28:34Yep, 21 straight non losing seasons.
- 28:36Shulu. Nope.
- 28:41How do you want non losing? Tom Landry.
- 28:44Yep, very good. Nice, that was another one that
- 28:46was stuck in my head too. Man, I'm on fire.
- 28:50Usually I don't get another one right for like 3 weeks at this
- 28:54point though. Let's see, piss on him a few.
- 28:57Let's go bottom left. Maybe that'll give us some
- 29:00better luck. I actually lost my head on that
- 29:02one. All right, let's go all.
- 29:06Right. I'll give you the 1 basketball
- 29:08what I have. So the Bulls and the Hawks
- 29:10recently in their game on Sunday, I believe it was
- 29:12combined for 302 points in regulation.
- 29:15Which was the most? I think it was like the fifth
- 29:18most of all time combined in a regulation game.
- 29:21So the highest scoring one was in 1990 between two Western
- 29:25Conference teams. Which two teams were they?
- 29:28You guys get 2 guesses each. In the 1990s.
- 29:32Yep, the highest scoring game in regulation in NBA history was
- 29:36one was in 1990. The year 1990 exactly.
- 29:39Go ahead, fish, you go first. Portland and Seattle.
- 29:44Nope. None of them.
- 29:46I'm out neither one. I'm going to say one of them is
- 29:51Utah. Nope.
- 29:53No, in the 1990's the Lakers. Nope.
- 30:01All right, so you. And Tommy each got one left to.
- 30:03Try to get both teams. So you basically you both have
- 30:07to be writer. Speedy wins.
- 30:11Lakers Why? Can't I think of Western teams
- 30:14in the hotel? In the Western Conference, I'll
- 30:21take a guess there. You go.
- 30:23The Spurs No. I was in A7.
- 30:25All right, that's it, Speedy, What is it?
- 30:28Was the Warriors against the Nuggets?
- 30:30Warriors for team. Warriors and Nuggets, all right,
- 30:34Speedy going for the block, I'm assuming here.
- 30:37Indeed. Do you remember who was the
- 30:39point guard starting point guard of that 1990 Warriors team?
- 30:43Our friend Tim Hardaway. That's right.
- 30:44Yep. And who?
- 30:46I think it was Van Exel for Denver back then maybe.
- 30:50No, then, no later. Later.
- 30:52Who was the later? Yeah.
- 30:53It was Alex English still there. Maybe it wasn't Alex English.
- 30:57I think that, but it wasn't. This is like pre mcdice.
- 31:00This is like before that. Right before that.
- 31:02I think, OK. All right, Speedy, next one.
- 31:05All right, we'll go to the last time Miami played Ohio State in
- 31:08the national championship. In 2003, Ohio State beat Miami
- 31:12to broke break the record for most consecutive wins by which
- 31:16quarterback? Say that again.
- 31:20So Ohio State upset Miami in the national championship game in
- 31:232003, which broke the. Answers Ken Dorsey.
- 31:25It's. Ken Dorsey, Very.
- 31:26Good. Were you watching the game or
- 31:28somebody gave you that info? Because I know they probably
- 31:30used that in the. Game I That was probably where I
- 31:33was at the height of my college football fandom, 2003.
- 31:36I was in high school senior year.
- 31:39I remember everything about that team.
- 31:42Yeah, if you don't remember. Shocking.
- 31:44How about Brock Purdy tonight? 4 touchdowns thrown.
- 31:47Thank. You all right?
- 31:48We're getting a two way go here by going there.
- 31:50So we're going to have a chance two times in a row to defeat
- 31:54Speedy. He's got to block us twice.
- 31:56Speedy, what you got? All right, we'll go to the NFL.
- 31:58Back to the NFL. So obviously Miles Garrett
- 32:00chasing the sack record right now.
- 32:02So since the since the new stacked technology came in for
- 32:06sacks, Michael Strahan and Gassa now didn't have the all time
- 32:09record. It was actually Al Baker who
- 32:12broke that record in 19, 1978 when he played for what Midwest
- 32:15NFL team. Jesus Jesus Christ, Midwest.
- 32:20Midwest who? Knows.
- 32:24Vikings. Not the Vikings.
- 32:26Good guess though, they did have a lot of good defensive lineman.
- 32:27Chicago Bears. Nope.
- 32:29Are the Lions considered like? Lions.
- 32:31It's correct. Very good.
- 32:32Oh, it's a lion. It wasn't very good.
- 32:37Interesting. That's for the win, right?
- 32:39You're staying with the stay with the same division theme.
- 32:42From. Last week.
- 32:44Like a serial killer, this dobber in the dirt.
- 32:47There was definitely a dobber in a dirt on that right?
- 32:49What a guess. What a guess for the.
- 32:52Rudolph theme is back. Nice.
- 32:54Oh yeah. Rudolph.
- 32:56The Red whore may beer to what? We meet you this time, Speedy.
- 33:01Whore reindeer. Never heard of that.
- 33:02That might have been my best performance ever on tic tac now
- 33:05that. Was that was without Jabba,
- 33:07ladies and gentlemen, without the jobster.
- 33:11Anyways, Anyways, when we come back I said anyways, like twice.
- 33:14I don't know, I'm losing it. That went over like a farting.
- 33:17Church go to Spotify and Apple go check out the video.

- 34:05have at 9:00. Bobby Valentine will be joining
- 34:08us. That'll be fun.
- 34:09Bobby V That's awesome, yeah. Bobby V Mr. V as a V for
- 34:16Vendetta, because I'm sure he has a vendetta for the New York
- 34:20Mets, I'm sure. Good movie, yes.
- 34:22I actually like that movie, too. All right, that's it.
- 34:25Goodnight. Thank God.
