- Lucas: Hey Luna, welcome back to Learn Cantonese with Fexingo. Ready for another trip? Luna: Absolutely. But where are we going this time? Last week we were at the cinema buying tickets. Lucas: We were. And honestly, if that episode was worth a coffee to you, you can support us at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Every little bit keeps the show free. Luna: Yeah, we love making these episodes, and listener support really helps. Lucas: So today, we're going to build on that and make sure you're super comfortable with the ticket phrases. Let's start with the most important one: 我想買一張票. Luna: 我想買一張票. That means I want to buy one ticket, right? Lucas: Exactly. Say it with me slowly: 我想買一張票. Luna: 我想買一張票. Wait, is 一張 the same as before? Like one piece or one ticket? Lucas: Yes, 張 is the measure word for flat objects like tickets, tables, and paper. So 一張票 is one ticket. Good. I want to buy one ticket. Got it. Lucas: Now, if you want to know the price, you ask: 一張票幾多錢? Luna: 一張票幾多錢? How much is one ticket? Lucas: Perfect. That sounds natural, like at the cinema counter. Lucas: For sure. Now what if you need two tickets? I would like two tickets. Lucas: Yes, 兩張票. Remember 兩 means two. That's easy because we already know 票 from before. Lucas: Right. Now, when you're at the cinema, the cashier might ask if you want popcorn. The question is: 你需唔需要爆谷? Does that mean do you need popcorn? Lucas: Exactly. 需唔需要 is do you need. 爆谷 is popcorn. I'll remember that for my next movie night. Lucas: And after you watch the movie, you might want to ask if it was good. Is it good to watch? Or was it good? Lucas: Yes, 好唔好睇 means is it good to watch. You can use it for movies, shows, anything visual. I like that. It rolls off the tongue. Lucas: Let's put it all together in a little scene. Imagine you're at the cinema counter. Lucas: Then you ask: 一張票幾多錢? Luna: 一張票幾多錢? Lucas: And if you want two tickets, you say: 我想要兩張票. Luna: 我想要兩張票. And if the cashier asks about popcorn, I'll say yes, please! Lucas: That's the spirit. Now let's practice the popcorn question: 你需唔需要爆谷? Luna: 你需唔需要爆谷. Lucas: And after the movie, you can say: 好唔好睇. Let's try that again: 好唔好睇. Luna: 好唔好睇. So, if I ask my friend after a movie, I'd say Lucas: Exactly. You can use it to ask if the movie was good. Let's do a quick review. I'll say the English, you say the Cantonese. Luna: Okay, hit me. Lucas: I want to buy one ticket. Lucas: How much is one ticket? Lucas: I would like two tickets. Lucas: Do you need popcorn? Lucas: Is it good to watch? Lucas: You did great, Luna. Those are the essential phrases for the cinema. I hope our listeners practice them and feel confident next time they go to a movie in Cantonese. Luna: Yeah, this was really useful. I'm definitely going to use these at the cinema. Thanks, Lucas! Lucas: You're welcome. Remember, if you enjoyed this episode, you can support us at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. We appreciate it. See you next time!
