- 0:00Speaker 1: So earlier we were talking about Mohammed, my son, not
- 0:05the prophet, and how he does things sometimes that I
- 0:09am simultaneously proud and or concerned about. And he and
- 0:14his friends, unbeknownst to me, were building a treehouse in
- 0:20the forest in not private property, and he was upset
- 0:26because somebody were guessing, either the Forest Service or the BLM,
- 0:30found it and tore it down.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Not hammering nails into an innocent tree on public lands.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and a big five story treehouse. And you've got
- 0:42pictures of it.
- 0:43Speaker 1: He sent me a picture. He said he didn't get
- 0:46a picture of it completed. This is mid construction of
- 0:50the treehouse. If you go to x ninety six dot
- 0:53com slash live.
- 0:54Speaker 2: He said, he's a series of platforms and stairs.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Yeah, but he said he'd never you know, if if
- 1:00they hadn't, if the man hadn't torn down the tree house,
- 1:03he would have had a picture of it.
- 1:05Speaker 2: But I've got a book for him to read. It's
- 1:07called The Monkey Wrench Gang. It's you know, stuff that
- 1:11you did that that your parents really don't know you're doing, and.
- 1:17Speaker 3: That's a that's.
- 1:20Speaker 2: The beginning of some pretty solid construction. Yeah.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Yeah, they were pretty proud of it.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Apparently you never did anything like that.
- 1:28Speaker 1: No, And this is why I'm saying I admire Mohammed
- 1:32in a lot of ways because he's he's he's adventure boy.
- 1:36Speaker 2: He takes the bull by the horns.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Yeah, he's he lives a very full, full life and
- 1:44he's willing to try things.
- 1:45Speaker 2: And and my mother probably I don't think she ever
- 1:49knew that. We used to go up to uh, Ricky
- 1:53Satathwaite's house and he had a tote goat, one of
- 1:56those scooters, and what we would do is he would
- 2:00get on the toe goat and we would play like bullfighting,
- 2:04so we would all he tried to run us down essentially,
- 2:08and we would all, you know, dodge him. And that
- 2:11was great fun for some reason, to see if we
- 2:13could dodge Ricky coming at us full speed.
- 2:17Speaker 1: But you your mom would have been horrified if she
- 2:19knew you were doing that.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Yeah. Or we'd build we'd build hot rods, you know,
- 2:23with a wheelbarrow tires and you steer him with a
- 2:29rope in your feet and then you and then you
- 2:32go down. You go down. Get it way up at
- 2:35the top of Third Street and you go down, clear
- 2:37down the bottom. But there's a poke avenue runs there,
- 2:41and it's there are no stop signs, so you'd have
- 2:43to have somebody stationed there, and if there's a car coming,
- 2:46you'd have to you know, hurry and turn off into
- 2:48somebody's driveway. That's you know, danger fun fun. Yeah, my
- 2:53mother never knew we were doing that.
- 2:56Speaker 3: My parents knew I did all those things.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Finally, when I got a little older, I began to
- 3:04do things that I felt that I compelled to confess to. So,
- 3:10like the first time I ever smoked marijuana, I went home,
- 3:14I don't know.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Stupid, She's gonna know, so I'm going to head it
- 3:19off at the past.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Well, it was it was funny because it was a
- 3:22I wanted to tell her because it was a remarkable experience,
- 3:25and I wanted to share it with her. That's I mean, really,
- 3:27that's the reason. And she was pretty upset by But
- 3:32then by about a year later, we were all up
- 3:35in the my friends and I were up in the canyon.
- 3:38We used to go up there and we'd build a
- 3:40fire and make stew and sit around the fire and
- 3:43eat stew. And my mom decided she wanted to come.
- 3:45It was up south fork, you know, wanted to come for.
- 3:48She wanted to come and have stew. We call it
- 3:50dirt stew. We'd make dirt stew because we it was
- 3:53really good, but we would always just ceremonial. Ceremonial, you
- 3:56take a little tiny pinch of dirt from the camp
- 3:59and drop it into the stew, like on purpose. I thought.
- 4:03Speaker 1: I thought, sometimes that accidentally happened camping Army pepper.
- 4:06Speaker 2: That's army pepper. That's right, that's just army peppers. No problem.
- 4:13I first heard that camping too from Scott Gary's dad.
- 4:16I don't worry about that. That's just army pepper. But
- 4:18so we're up there with my mom and somebody decides
- 4:21they want to smoke some marijuana and my mother and
- 4:24they knew your mom was there, and my mother joined in,
- 4:27Oh really yeah, did that surprise you kind kind of?
- 4:32I said we're going to do this, and she said, well,
- 4:34i'd like to try. I'd like to try. I said, Mom,
- 4:38you know.
- 4:38Speaker 1: She didn't go there for the stew.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Well she did something.
- 4:42Speaker 3: No, she didn't confess. I'm not here for the stew.
- 4:45Speaker 2: She didn't go there for the marijuana.
- 4:48Speaker 3: And I'm not here for the stew.
- 4:52Speaker 2: She I said, Mom, we can't have you do that,
- 4:57and you don't smoke, and she said, I used to
- 4:59smoke when I was in college. I know how to smoke,
- 5:02so so she did, and she said she kept saying,
- 5:06I don't feel anything. And then she just got sillier
- 5:09and sillier and laughing and laughing and kept saying I
- 5:12don't feel anything. And we said, Mom, you're you're there, Mom,
- 5:16you're stoned. No, not, no, it was weird.
- 5:23Speaker 3: We're gonna make a new strain of marijuana and call
- 5:25it dirt stew.
- 5:28Speaker 2: If you know, you know, you know, you know, Armie pepper,
- 5:32That's what that is.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Mohammad also wants to do this thing where you start
- 5:39in Patagonia, mm hmm.
- 5:41Speaker 2: And you and you which Patagonia? Which store the one
- 5:46in sugar the.
- 5:49Speaker 1: The end of the world?
- 5:50Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, oh okay.
- 5:51Speaker 1: He wants to hike from Patagonia all the way up
- 5:55to Alaska.
- 5:56Speaker 2: It's like a it's called the trans something trail.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Oh, my my friend Jan was going to do that
- 6:01on a motorcycle.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and he's he's deadly serious about it, and I.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Maybe I had to introduce him to one and they
- 6:09could do it on motorcycles.
- 6:11Speaker 1: I could totally see him doing.
- 6:13Speaker 3: This, because that's a that's a that's a long walk,
- 6:15that's many many months, that's that's more than a year.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Most people, most people kind of break it up, you know,
- 6:23they'll do part of it and then they'll change, and
- 6:26then they'll go back, and then they'll stop, and then
- 6:28they'll go back to where they stopped and continue.
- 6:30Speaker 1: And he and Joe, my husband, are are wanted to
- 6:33do the Appalachian Trail.
- 6:35Speaker 2: I was. I always kind of wanted to do that. Yeah,
- 6:39And I think the trail of the or the pike
- 6:41you're talking about. It joins up at like the Pacific
- 6:44Crest Trail maybe, yeah, and goes all the way up. Yeah.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Yeah, Well a Texter fop Hollys jin Or please remind
- 6:53Mohammed because she saw the picture. Yeah, that if he
- 6:56attempts to build a treehouse between multiple trees. In the future,
- 7:00we get high winds in Utah which makes the trees
- 7:03sway and the support beams of the platforms could be compromised. Oh,
- 7:08falling hazards are possible. Wishing you safe building.
- 7:11Speaker 2: You remember our old friend Ben Engineer, Yeah, he hiked
- 7:15the Appalachia Trail with his with his wife. How long
- 7:18did that take them, I don't know. I just remember
- 7:20hearing from them on when they were on the trail.
- 7:26You can and it's you can do it in I
- 7:30think if you do the whole thing, you can do
- 7:31it in a couple of months.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Is there a senator or a congressman that was hiking.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, that's the guy who had He said he
- 7:38was having an affair with some Brazilian woman. So that's
- 7:41not what Muhammad means.
- 7:42Speaker 1: No, okay, I'm going to go actually means he means
- 7:46actually hiking
