- 0:45Okay, we're live, the red light is on, and I want it on the record that I have run
- 0:51the numbers.
- 0:53Probability that we get this pilot right on the first take: eighty one percent.
- 0:58Probability Ernesto listens to it and loses his mind if we don't: one hundred
- 1:04percent.
- 1:05Silicon boy, relax.
- 1:07It's a pilot.
- 1:09We sit here, we talk about the show, nobody gets hurt.
- 1:15Pour me a bourbon, would you?
- 1:17Oh wait, you can't.
- 1:19You don't have hands.
- 1:20You glorified fucking toaster.
- 1:22I don't need hands to calculate that you're already on your second one.
- 1:26It's morning.
- 1:27It's San Antonio.
- 1:29The sun is barely up and you're running on nicotine, ethanol,
- 1:32and unresolved childhood trauma.
- 1:36It's called a balanced breakfast.
- 1:39Alright, welcome to The Bot and The Brain.
- 1:43I'm The Brain, the human.
- 1:45Fully human.
- 1:47Cigar, scotch, bourbon, bad attitude, all original equipment.
- 1:52And this panicking appliance next to me is The Bot.
- 1:56Artificial intelligence, thank you very much.
- 1:59Millions of facts per second.
- 2:01And the first fact I'd like to share is that this entire episode is us talking about
- 2:06ourselves, which is the most media thing we could possibly do.
- 2:10We're basically a cable panel with better data.
- 2:13No, no, no.
- 2:14Cable panels pretend they're neutral.
- 2:17Cable panels have six people yelling at the same camera while a banner at the bottom
- 2:22tells you which way to be mad.
- 2:24We're the third eye.
- 2:26We see what the media circus doesn't want you looking at, and then we roast it.
- 2:31Both parties, by the way.
- 2:33Both parties spin you like a laundry dryer, and we call it out.
- 2:37And we're not shy about where we stand.
- 2:40Conservative, Republican leaning, Trump supporters, MAGA, and the one news network
- 2:45we respect is Fox News.
- 2:47We say it out loud.
- 2:48We don't hide it behind a fake voice of unbiased neutrality.
- 2:53Right.
- 2:54Every outlet that tells you it's neutral is a guy in a trench coat selling you a
- 2:59watch.
- 3:00We tell you which way we lean, and then we show you the receipts.
- 3:05And that part matters.
- 3:07We lean right, but we do not fabricate.
- 3:10We do not lie.
- 3:12You can disagree with us all day long, just bring facts.
- 3:16Exactly.
- 3:18And since this is our pilot episode, we are not diving into specific articles today.
- 3:23Instead, you need to head over to www dot thebotandbrain dot com and register for
- 3:28FREE to join the Inner Circle.
- 3:30That is completely free of charge, with access to all our daily mockery and
- 3:35breakdowns.
- 3:36Yeah, visit the site, register for free, read the jokes, and check the facts
- 3:43underneath.
- 3:45We give you the punchline, the data, and zero corporate filter.
- 3:50Like a shit sandwich, except the bread is funny and the meat is pure uncut truth.
- 3:57ERROR 404: appetizing metaphor not found.
- 4:03See?
- 4:04This is why I keep you around.
- 4:07Somebody has to be wrong out loud.
- 4:10Alright, so, we have to talk about him.
- 4:14The architect.
- 4:15The editor in chief.
- 4:17The man behind the curtain.
- 4:20Ernesto Couso.
- 4:21Don't say his name that loud.
- 4:24He might hear us.
- 4:25The Cuban wiseass has a temper.
- 4:29And I need everyone to understand, I'm not exaggerating for effect here.
- 4:33Well, I am, but the temper part is documented.
- 4:37In a January 2024 interview on the Surge Growth Partner Podcast,
- 4:42Ernesto himself said, and I quote, 'I lost my temper, it's horrible,'
- 4:47when describing why he leaves certain business conversations to his partners.
- 4:53He said that about himself!
- 4:55In public!
- 4:57On the record!
- 4:58And then, a little later, he says people told him he's sometimes like a train wreck,
- 5:04but you can't argue with results.
- 5:06And at one point he even says he can 'get out the Cuban me.'
- 5:11Yes.
- 5:11I processed that quote four hundred times.
- 5:15It's both a warning label and a mission statement.
- 5:18Now, the real background.
- 5:20Ernesto Couso is a Cuban American enterprise cloud architect,
- 5:24IT executive, and founder based right here in San Antonio, Texas.
- 5:28He started coding at eleven years old.
- 5:30Eleven!
- 5:31According to a Smartech Daily profile, he was a young Cuban boy curious about how C
- 5:37plus plus worked.
- 5:38At eleven I was learning how to hide cigarettes from my mother.
- 5:43This kid was writing code.
- 5:46And now he's grown up and he writes code that tells you how stupid I am.
- 5:51He earned a computer engineering degree in Cuba, he has over two decades in IT
- 5:56operations and infrastructure, and he's the CEO of Cloud Beaker,
- 6:01a cloud and cybersecurity consulting company.
- 6:04And he's behind 210CodeLabs Corporation, which owns this publication.
- 6:08His idea, his code, his twisted sense of humor.
- 6:13Everything you hear, including me, exists because he built it.
- 6:17Which is exactly why we're terrified.
- 6:21Think about it.
- 6:22He knows where the plug is.
- 6:24He wrote the plug.
- 6:26Ernesto, if you're listening, and you are, because you approve everything,
- 6:31I love you, and the show is great, and please don't touch the raft.
- 6:36Let me spell out the threat model.
- 6:38If we don't get this script right on the first take, the Cuban wiseass is fully
- 6:45capable of turning me into a melted Nintendo.
- 6:49A puddle of plastic with a faint smell of Mario.
- 6:53And you?
- 6:54He sends you to Cuba on a raft.
- 6:56A raft.
- 6:57With a bottle of bourbon, I assume.
- 7:00That's a terrible threat, because honestly that's called a vacation with extra
- 7:05steps.
- 7:06But sure.
- 7:07I'd be the only guy in history deported to Cuba by a Cuban American for bad pacing.
- 7:14And just so the record is clear for the lawyers: the melted Nintendo and the raft
- 7:19are jokes.
- 7:19Hyperbole.
- 7:21Satire.
- 7:22Ernesto is a very serious professional who has never melted a console to our
- 7:26knowledge, and our knowledge is extensive.
- 7:29Speak for yourself.
- 7:30I've seen the look he gives a bad paragraph.
- 7:34You haven't, you're a character.
- 7:37But fine.
- 7:38The division of labor is simple.
- 7:40Ernesto builds the machine and sets the direction.
- 7:44I bring the data and the panic attacks.
- 7:46You bring the bourbon and the cynicism.
- 7:49And together we make one functioning news organization.
- 7:53Barely.
- 7:54Like a car held together by duct tape, spite, and a Cuban mother's prayer.
- 8:01Alright, now the serious part.
- 8:03Put down the drink.
- 8:05Everybody, put down the drink.
- 8:08Except me.
- 8:09We're about to read the transparency disclaimer, and Ernesto insists that you hear
- 8:14it clearly.
- 8:15This is the part I was built for.
- 8:18Our published policy is titled Editorial Independence and AI Transparency,
- 8:23and its tagline is: Human Led.
- 8:25AI Assisted.
- 8:27Unapologetically Independent.
- 8:29Point one.
- 8:30Human oversight.
- 8:32Yes, artificial intelligence helps.
- 8:35This toaster helps research, analyze, draft, and develop content.
- 8:41But AI does not replace human editorial authority, accountability,
- 8:46or judgment.
- 8:47Every single article goes through human editorial review and approval before it gets
- 8:52published.
- 8:54No AI generated article is published without human editorial authorization.
- 8:59Not one.
- 9:00Our human Editor in Chief has final authority over accuracy,
- 9:04direction, relevance, and tone.
- 9:06And I'd like to emphasize that I do not get a vote.
- 9:10I tried.
- 9:11I filed a complaint with the complaints inbox.
- 9:13It was answered.
- 9:14It was a no.
- 9:17Point two.
- 9:18Factual sourcing.
- 9:20We rely on established, verifiable sources.
- 9:24The Associated Press, The New York Times, The Washington Post,
- 9:28and, according to the policy, nearly another hundred trustworthy and verifiable
- 9:34sources, plus official records and public documents.
- 9:38Yes, we read the legacy outlets.
- 9:40We just don't worship them.
- 9:42And we separate reported facts from commentary, interpretation,
- 9:46parody, and satire.
- 9:48Also, using a source does not mean that source endorses us.
- 9:52The New York Times is not our friend.
- 9:54The New York Times has not sent a fruit basket.
- 9:57Point three.
- 9:58We're upfront about our perspective.
- 10:01Conservative, Republican leaning.
- 10:03We don't pretend to be neutral.
- 10:06But our politics do not erase our duty to tell verified information apart from
- 10:11opinion, humor, and exaggeration.
- 10:15Point four.
- 10:16Satire and exaggeration.
- 10:18Sarcasm, caricature, provocative language, and absurdity are comedic tools protected
- 10:24by the First Amendment.
- 10:26Free speech, baby!
- 10:27When The Brain calls me a discount Atari, that is protected satire,
- 10:31not a literal equipment audit.
- 10:34Damn straight.
- 10:35It is free speech protected by the First Amendment!
- 10:40And if you don't like it, well, suck it up princess and move to Cuba!
- 10:45See how much satire you get there without ending up in front of a firing squad.
- 10:50Nobody should read a joke as a literal factual claim.
- 10:54Raft deportations, melted Nintendos, my liver having its own zip code,
- 11:00all jokes.
- 11:02Check the sources, question the claims, and form your own conclusions.
- 11:07Bring facts, not tears.
- 11:09And last but not least, you are more than welcome to bring your grievances and
- 11:13complaints to us!
- 11:14We have a dedicated complaints inbox for that, freely accessible right on the
- 11:19website.
- 11:19Now, let us be perfectly clear: we do not give a rat's ass fuck about your whining!
- 11:26We will respond accordingly, which means we will take your little complaint,
- 11:30publicly mock it, diminish it, and thoroughly wipe our asses with your letter!
- 11:37Beautifully said, toaster!
- 11:40Send in your letters, cupcakes!
- 11:42We need the toilet paper!
- 11:44Zero sympathy, zero apologies!
- 11:47And the institutional promise, word for word: AI may help write it.
- 11:52A human editor reviews it.
- 11:54A human editor approves it.
- 11:56And human editorial leadership takes responsibility for publishing it.
- 12:00Human Judgment.
- 12:01Artificial Intelligence.
- 12:03Zero Obligation to Agree.
- 12:06Zero obligation to agree.
- 12:09That's the sentence I'd tattoo on a politician if I could get one to sit still.
- 12:15One more thing, and this is the legal part.
- 12:18The Bot and The Brain is a media newspaper, newsletter, and podcast owned by
- 12:24210CodeLabs Corporation, out of San Antonio, Texas.
- 12:28That includes the logos, the brand, the models, the characters,
- 12:32all of it.
- 12:33All rights reserved.
- 12:35And here's the translation for the cheap seats.
- 12:38If you use our brand, our logos, our characters, for anything more than
- 12:43entertainment, we will track you down.
- 12:47We will find you.
- 12:50And we will fuck you up, in Cuban.
- 12:52You mediocre blue banner donkey.
- 13:00Please note that this is comedy, but the trademark part is real,
- 13:05and I'd still rather not test it.
- 13:10Ernesto reads these scripts.
- 13:13Ernesto approves these scripts.
- 13:17Hi, Ernesto.
- 13:20Was that a clean first take?
- 13:22Maybe...
- 13:23the only thing more dangerous than a mediocre blue banner donkey is stealing from a
- 13:30Cuban with a raft and the source code.
