- 0:13Speaker 1: Hello you guys, Welcome back to another episode of the
- 0:16Speaker 1: Hawkgirl Energy Podcast. I'm your host, Kayleie, and this is
- 0:19Speaker 1: your weekly reminder that it's a new day, a new week,
- 0:22Speaker 1: a new mindset, and another day for you to become
- 0:24Speaker 1: the hawt Girl energy you want to attract. Hello you guys,
- 0:27Speaker 1: Happy Wednesday, Welcome back to another episode. How is everybody doing?
- 0:31Speaker 1: Because summer has officially peaked here and I've been super happy.
- 0:36Speaker 1: I've really just been enjoying some slow time and I'm
- 0:39Speaker 1: really honestly trying to work a bit less as well.
- 0:42Speaker 1: I'm not even like really posting as much every single
- 0:45Speaker 1: day when it comes to like Instagram stories, tiktoks, instagrams
- 0:49Speaker 1: all that. I'm more so just kind of taking a
- 0:51Speaker 1: step back from work. With my job, you do kind
- 0:54Speaker 1: of have to be like on camera twenty four to
- 0:57Speaker 1: seven on the weekends, you know, when you're traveling, like
- 1:01Speaker 1: there's not really ever a break, and so I'm kind
- 1:04Speaker 1: of taking this as my opportunity to obviously like take
- 1:06Speaker 1: a step back from things a little bit like the
- 1:08Speaker 1: podcast and work, and like obviously, like I don't love
- 1:12Speaker 1: doing that, but I will say, like even with just
- 1:14Speaker 1: like not posting on the podcast last week, and honestly,
- 1:17Speaker 1: like I posted very few videos on TikTok, like, it
- 1:19Speaker 1: was kind of like a nice break for me personally
- 1:22Speaker 1: to really just like step back and just like not
- 1:26Speaker 1: feeling this urge to like have to whip the iPhone
- 1:29Speaker 1: film twenty four to seven. Like. Anyways, it's just I
- 1:31Speaker 1: think it's okay to take a step back from something
- 1:33Speaker 1: if you are currently really busy in your life and
- 1:36Speaker 1: you feel like you need a break. I am telling
- 1:38Speaker 1: you that it does really make a difference if you
- 1:40Speaker 1: take a step back from something that makes you feel
- 1:43Speaker 1: maybe really high stressed, or something that you just feel
- 1:46Speaker 1: like you need to take a step back from for
- 1:47Speaker 1: a period of time and then get back into it
- 1:49Speaker 1: when you're feeling yourself again, if that makes sense. So
- 1:53Speaker 1: if you're currently going through a period of time in
- 1:54Speaker 1: your life where you're feeling really overwhelmed or really busy,
- 1:57Speaker 1: this is your sign to take the step back and
- 2:00Speaker 1: just listen to your body. Because even me just taking
- 2:03Speaker 1: a step back, I feel like I've definitely felt more
- 2:05Speaker 1: like myself again and honestly going into it and feeling
- 2:08Speaker 1: more inspired to try new things and just kind of
- 2:10Speaker 1: I don't know, just kind of get back into the
- 2:12Speaker 1: swing of things. I think taking a break is sometimes needed,
- 2:15Speaker 1: and I never really have ever really taken a break,
- 2:18Speaker 1: I would say, from work. So I'm really happy that
- 2:21Speaker 1: I pushed myself to take this break and just like
- 2:25Speaker 1: really be present with summer and enjoy the summer. So anyways,
- 2:29Speaker 1: I just want to say that for anyone that might
- 2:31Speaker 1: be going through a hard time or like a very
- 2:33Speaker 1: stressful period of time in their life, it is okay
- 2:35Speaker 1: to take the break and it is okay to step back,
- 2:38Speaker 1: because I do really find it helps you find yourself again.
- 2:41Speaker 1: We need to talk about Off Campus for a second
- 2:43Speaker 1: before we even get into this episode because Off Campus
- 2:47Speaker 1: has been on my mind twenty four seven. If you
- 2:50Speaker 1: don't know what Off Campus is, it's actually a new
- 2:52Speaker 1: TV show that just got released this May on Amazon Prime,
- 2:57Speaker 1: and it's actually based off a book and I think
- 2:59Speaker 1: it's actually a Canadian author, which I love, and the
- 3:02Speaker 1: show was actually filmed in Vancouver, so it was filmed
- 3:05Speaker 1: in Canada. I think one or two of the actors
- 3:08Speaker 1: on the show is actually Canadian. Dean from the show
- 3:11Speaker 1: is actually Canadian, which I just found that out recently,
- 3:13Speaker 1: which I love love to say Canadian on the show.
- 3:16Speaker 1: But anyways, it is such a good show. Everybody's talking
- 3:21Speaker 1: about it on TikTok, everybody's talking about on social media
- 3:23Speaker 1: how good of a show it is. And I'm going
- 3:26Speaker 1: to tell you guys right now, I'm hooked. I'm obsessed,
- 3:28Speaker 1: Zach and I binge the entire thing in a weekend.
- 3:30Speaker 1: I actually started to rewatch it just because I don't know.
- 3:34Speaker 1: I wanted to rewatch it again because it was that good,
- 3:36Speaker 1: and I feel like I haven't had a show like
- 3:38Speaker 1: that since, like the Summer I Turned Pretty. I feel
- 3:40Speaker 1: like I was really really into the Summer I Turn Pretty.
- 3:42Speaker 1: But this show, I don't know. I think because the
- 3:46Speaker 1: characters are older, like I feel like in the Summer
- 3:48Speaker 1: I Turn Pretty, it was like young high school kind
- 3:52Speaker 1: of college. I guess by the third season, but I
- 3:55Speaker 1: don't know. I think just because they play such a
- 3:58Speaker 1: young actor, I feel like I see young kids, whereas
- 4:02Speaker 1: because the cast for Off Campus they're a little bit older.
- 4:06Speaker 1: I think the only person that's under the age of
- 4:08Speaker 1: twenty is Hannah. I think her name's Elle Ella Ella.
- 4:12Speaker 1: I think it's Ella. Anyways, she's nineteen, But everyone else
- 4:16Speaker 1: is like twenty four, twenty seven, twenty eight, twenty nine,
- 4:19Speaker 1: So I don't know, I feel like it's like so good. Mika,
- 4:23Speaker 1: who plays Ali, She's the prettiest girl I've ever seen.
- 4:26Speaker 1: I'm not even over exaggerating. Her face is like perfection.
- 4:31Speaker 1: I love the relationship between Hannah and Garrett. Obviously Garrett incredible.
- 4:35Speaker 1: We love Garrett. I love Hannah and Garrett's relationship. I
- 4:39Speaker 1: think that's something really special to watch. I'm really excited
- 4:42Speaker 1: for season two to see Ali and Dean be the
- 4:44Speaker 1: lead and see how their relationship goes. And I don't know,
- 4:49Speaker 1: you guys just really need to watch the TV show series.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I really want to start reading the books. I think
- 4:55Speaker 1: that would be a really good thing to read this summer.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I think everybody's probably wanting to read the books this
- 4:59Speaker 1: summer after seeing the TV show. But all in all,
- 5:03Speaker 1: highly recommend if you're in need of a binge watching
- 5:06Speaker 1: TV show. I think there's eight episodes in the like
- 5:08Speaker 1: an hour long each, which also, can we talk about
- 5:11Speaker 1: how there's only eight episodes? I'm like, can we like
- 5:13Speaker 1: bring back the twenty five episodes per season? Like I
- 5:17Speaker 1: was watching One Tree Hill last fall and there was
- 5:20Speaker 1: like twenty two episodes per season, and they were all
- 5:23Speaker 1: like forty two to fifty two minute episodes long, and
- 5:26Speaker 1: I'm like, we need to bring this back. We need
- 5:29Speaker 1: to bring the longer seasons back, because it's I don't know,
- 5:32Speaker 1: so entertaining and then at least you feel like you're
- 5:35Speaker 1: hooked for a longer period of time. I feel like
- 5:37Speaker 1: we're binging things in a weekend and then we're like okay,
- 5:39Speaker 1: now what, like what's going on next? So I don't know,
- 5:43Speaker 1: I feel like we need to bring back the longer
- 5:44Speaker 1: episodes and the longer seasons because I personally love it,
- 5:49Speaker 1: or at least like kind of like what uh the
- 5:51Speaker 1: summary turn pretty did like release an episode every week?
- 5:55Speaker 1: Maybe not like that, but like maybe release every week
- 5:58Speaker 1: like four to five episodes and then the next week
- 6:00Speaker 1: four to five episodes whatever. I have no idea, just
- 6:03Speaker 1: I feel like when you can like binge watch everything
- 6:05Speaker 1: in a weekend, I get sad and I'm like, now
- 6:07Speaker 1: what And we're all feeling the same way. I know
- 6:08Speaker 1: it because everyone became addicted to that show and now
- 6:11Speaker 1: everyone's like we have nothing to watch now and we
- 6:13Speaker 1: have to wait a year to hear about Ali and
- 6:16Speaker 1: Dean's story so or. Another series that I loved was
- 6:18Speaker 1: The Vampire Diaries and again, longer episodes, longer seasons, like
- 6:23Speaker 1: everything was just I don't know, it was so good
- 6:26Speaker 1: back then. We need to bring that back. Another update
- 6:29Speaker 1: is that I'm becoming a runner. I'm in my running
- 6:32Speaker 1: era right now, and I decided to make a goal
- 6:35Speaker 1: for June to get back into running at least once
- 6:38Speaker 1: a week. And I've never really been a weekly runner,
- 6:40Speaker 1: Like I always say, I'm like, oh, I'm gonna go
- 6:42Speaker 1: and runs more or whatever, and then I'll run like
- 6:44Speaker 1: once or twice in the summer, and then I'll never
- 6:46Speaker 1: run again. And I just want to make it a
- 6:48Speaker 1: weekly thing now, Like I'm like, why do I just
- 6:50Speaker 1: do it the one off time and like never actually
- 6:52Speaker 1: create a consistent routine of doing so when I actually
- 6:56Speaker 1: do like it and I like running in the trails,
- 6:58Speaker 1: and I do have a really nice trail that I
- 7:01Speaker 1: could run that is by my place, and I can
- 7:04Speaker 1: take Freddy with me. I can go early in the
- 7:06Speaker 1: morning that way it's not too hot, and Freddy can
- 7:08Speaker 1: actually enjoy it. I can actually enjoy it. So we
- 7:11Speaker 1: went on our first run yesterday and it was so
- 7:14Speaker 1: so nice, it wasn't too hot, it was like mainly
- 7:17Speaker 1: in the shade. Freddie loved it. I could just tell
- 7:19Speaker 1: you was so happy and I enjoyed it. So we're
- 7:23Speaker 1: making it a weekly thing. It's my goal for the summer,
- 7:26Speaker 1: my goal for June. So I'm trying to make it
- 7:28Speaker 1: a weekly thing for myself. So anyways, get your running shoes,
- 7:31Speaker 1: get a cute little workout set. If you're in need
- 7:34Speaker 1: of wanting to become a runner, this is your sign.
- 7:36Speaker 1: I truly did love it, and I can't wait for
- 7:38Speaker 1: next week. I wouldn't be surprised if I keep at
- 7:42Speaker 1: this with the fall season two. So anyways, I'm loving it,
- 7:46Speaker 1: and that was just one of my goals for the
- 7:48Speaker 1: month of June. In this week's episode, I wanted to
- 7:50Speaker 1: talk about summer obsessions, so things that I'm currently obsessed
- 7:54Speaker 1: with or things that I'm always obsessed with going into
- 7:56Speaker 1: a new season, specifically summer. So when it comes to
- 7:59Speaker 1: like meals and food, inspo, lifestyle inspo, fashion inspo, activity inspo,
- 8:05Speaker 1: like things that I'm looking forward to doing this summer,
- 8:08Speaker 1: and everything just kind of has a category in my opinion,
- 8:11Speaker 1: Like there are certain things I think about or crave
- 8:14Speaker 1: during the summer. There are certain things that I think
- 8:16Speaker 1: about in crave during the fall season, during Christmas, during winter, Like,
- 8:20Speaker 1: I feel like we all kind of like change up
- 8:22Speaker 1: the things we eat, change up the things that we
- 8:24Speaker 1: do based on a new season. So I thought we
- 8:26Speaker 1: could talk about things that I'm obsessed with and that
- 8:29Speaker 1: I'm going to be obsessed with this summer season and
- 8:32Speaker 1: kind of want it to split it up into different categories.
- 8:34Speaker 1: So we're going to start off with meal and food inspo.
- 8:37Speaker 1: When I think about summer and I think about meals,
- 8:40Speaker 1: I think about barbecues, I think about fruit, I think
- 8:43Speaker 1: about salad season, I think about all my favorite things.
- 8:47Speaker 1: And one thing that I just recently made that I
- 8:49Speaker 1: have not made since last summer was pasta salad. I
- 8:53Speaker 1: love a good pasta salad. Anything with pasta, cheese, vegetables, salad, dressing,
- 9:01Speaker 1: Like I know one hundred percent it's gonna be good.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I recently made this protein pasta salad that has over
- 9:06Speaker 1: fifty grams of protein. The pasta alone has twenty grams
- 9:09Speaker 1: of protein per cup, and usually I have more than
- 9:12Speaker 1: a cup. I usually have like two cups of pasta
- 9:14Speaker 1: when you actually measured all out into a bowl, so
- 9:17Speaker 1: it ends up being like forty two grams of protein
- 9:19Speaker 1: in that, and then I also like to add boc
- 9:21Speaker 1: with chini, cheese and other ingredients, and it ends up
- 9:24Speaker 1: being almost fifty grams of protein, which is wild. So
- 9:27Speaker 1: I freaking love pasta salads. It's just something that I
- 9:30Speaker 1: feel like I always crave around this time of year.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Another kind of salad I love is a potato salad.
- 9:34Speaker 1: There is this one potato salad from Costco. If you know,
- 9:38Speaker 1: you know, it is the best potato salad recipe I've
- 9:42Speaker 1: ever ever had. And of course it's probably not the
- 9:45Speaker 1: healthiest thing because there's probably a bunch of mayo in
- 9:47Speaker 1: it and all that. But again, weekend treat going to
- 9:50Speaker 1: the cottage, I'm gonna have potato salad. Like, summer is
- 9:53Speaker 1: all about following the eighty twenty rule, and we're gonna
- 9:56Speaker 1: talk about that in a little bit with lifestyle, because
- 9:59Speaker 1: we are way more active in the summer in terms
- 10:01Speaker 1: of like getting out of the house more and doing
- 10:03Speaker 1: more things, wanting to make plans. I feel like usually
- 10:05Speaker 1: in the winter I'm not going out as much. Right
- 10:08Speaker 1: like I'm hibernating I'm not really leaving the house. So
- 10:10Speaker 1: this is the opportunity to make memories, do fun things
- 10:14Speaker 1: and not let food be the reason why you're not
- 10:17Speaker 1: doing those things. So if you're at a cottage and
- 10:20Speaker 1: everyone's making fun recipes and new things, and you're looking
- 10:23Speaker 1: at that and you're like, oh my god, that probably
- 10:24Speaker 1: has a thousand calories, Who cares? Why are we caring
- 10:27Speaker 1: about calories? It's twenty twenty six. We don't care about
- 10:29Speaker 1: that shit. Memories are also made through food when I travel,
- 10:33Speaker 1: when I go on trips with my husband, when I
- 10:35Speaker 1: go on trips with my family, like things that I
- 10:36Speaker 1: talk about still to this day. When I went to Italy,
- 10:38Speaker 1: for example, for my wedding, I'll be like, oh my god,
- 10:41Speaker 1: do you remember that place that we went to that
- 10:43Speaker 1: had the best crab? Oh my god, that was the
- 10:46Speaker 1: best place I've ever been to. Like, Okay, there was
- 10:48Speaker 1: a memory right there being made because I was obsessed
- 10:51Speaker 1: with the dinner that we had that night in Italy
- 10:54Speaker 1: with my husband watching the sunset whatever. Like the memory
- 10:57Speaker 1: was made because we decided to eat good food, food
- 11:00Speaker 1: and not let food stop us from living in that moment.
- 11:03Speaker 1: So food, I think does play a really important part
- 11:06Speaker 1: of just like making memories, making life feel exciting again.
- 11:10Speaker 1: So don't let the food stop you from doing fun things.
- 11:13Speaker 1: I also love a barrota peach salad. Fruit in a
- 11:18Speaker 1: salad is elite. Another one that's really great is the
- 11:21Speaker 1: watermelon feta mint salad. Oh my goodness, I can't wait
- 11:24Speaker 1: to make that. I have not made that yet, and
- 11:26Speaker 1: it's like one of my top ten cravings. I feel
- 11:29Speaker 1: like in the summer, I just always always want that
- 11:32Speaker 1: watermelon feta salad. It's so good. So anything with fruit
- 11:35Speaker 1: in a salad. I'm never gonna say no to borata cheese,
- 11:38Speaker 1: peaches in a salad. It's incredible, literally the best thing ever. Obviously,
- 11:43Speaker 1: it's fruit season, so I feel like there's certain fruits
- 11:45Speaker 1: that I crave specifically throughout the summer season, one of
- 11:48Speaker 1: them being watermelon. Of course, I could eat an entire
- 11:51Speaker 1: watermelon in one sitting. I'm not even over exaggerating. Watermelon
- 11:55Speaker 1: is like one thing that I crave every single summer.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I also crave cherries, and cherries a very specific fruit
- 12:02Speaker 1: that I feel like I crave only around this time
- 12:04Speaker 1: of the year, Like I can't imagine myself buying cherries
- 12:07Speaker 1: in the winter, Like that's just weird to me, Like
- 12:09Speaker 1: I would never do that. I purposely buy cherries typically
- 12:12Speaker 1: in the summer because I feel like I crave it.
- 12:15Speaker 1: It's a specific fruit that I just crave throughout this season.
- 12:18Speaker 1: I also feel like I'm really buying a lot of
- 12:20Speaker 1: like pineapple, mangoes, berries, Like I feel like I'm always
- 12:25Speaker 1: really buying berries, but like pineapple and mango specifically, I
- 12:28Speaker 1: feel like I'm buying a lot more of because once again,
- 12:31Speaker 1: going into the summer season, I feel like I'm just
- 12:33Speaker 1: craving it more. I also love grapes. Grapes is another thing,
- 12:37Speaker 1: green grapes specifically. I like to add grapes actually in
- 12:40Speaker 1: my freezer sometimes and eat them frozen. I don't know
- 12:43Speaker 1: if you've ever done that, but it's like a little
- 12:45Speaker 1: sweet dessert to have after lunch or dinner, and frozen
- 12:48Speaker 1: grapes that crunch and the sweetness. If you get the
- 12:51Speaker 1: cotton candy grapes, that's the cherry on top, green cotton
- 12:55Speaker 1: candy grapes. I will never forget that day when I
- 12:57Speaker 1: discover them. I think it was like two or three
- 12:59Speaker 1: years ago, was pretty recent, and I saw cotton candy
- 13:03Speaker 1: at the grocery store, and I'm like, what the heck
- 13:04Speaker 1: cotton candy grape So I bought them and then I
- 13:07Speaker 1: searched it up and everyone's like raving about these cotton
- 13:09Speaker 1: candy grapes and I'm like, Okay, this is something that
- 13:12Speaker 1: people talk about all the time. So anyways, I got
- 13:15Speaker 1: them and I became addicted. They're so sweet, they are
- 13:20Speaker 1: so freaking good. Anyways, if you put those in the freezer,
- 13:24Speaker 1: thank me later. It's like the best healthier dessert option
- 13:27Speaker 1: in my opinion. You can even add like little sugarcoating
- 13:30Speaker 1: on top if you want to make it more of
- 13:32Speaker 1: a sweet sour kind of situation. But it's so good
- 13:35Speaker 1: and it's like one of my favorite healthier dessert options
- 13:38Speaker 1: in the summer. Since we're talking about desserts, I want
- 13:40Speaker 1: to talk about a dessert that I recently made this
- 13:42Speaker 1: week that I saw on Pinterest. And I've been really
- 13:45Speaker 1: into Pinterest right now. Obviously I'm always into Pinterests, as
- 13:47Speaker 1: you guys know, but I feel like, because we've entered
- 13:49Speaker 1: a new season, I'm like diving into the summer recipes
- 13:52Speaker 1: on Pinterest, and s'mores is obviously a big dessert option
- 13:57Speaker 1: that people bring to the cottage or if you have
- 13:59Speaker 1: a bomb, I are in your backyard having a small
- 14:01Speaker 1: chocolate marshmallows. Gram crackers obviously elite, such a great dessert.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Some of you may or may not know that I'm
- 14:06Speaker 1: obsessed with chocolate. I think I've made that very clear.
- 14:09Speaker 1: And s'mores sounded really good to me the other day,
- 14:13Speaker 1: and s'mores sounded so good, except I'm like, oh, I
- 14:17Speaker 1: kind of want to do something on a healthier take,
- 14:18Speaker 1: Like I don't want to do it with a gram cracker. Well,
- 14:21Speaker 1: we did it with a date. So I took a date,
- 14:25Speaker 1: I put chocolate in it, and I put a roasted marshmallow.
- 14:29Speaker 1: I roasted the marshmallow literally on my gas dove. Okay,
- 14:32Speaker 1: we should film a TikTok of me doing this because
- 14:33Speaker 1: it's so funny. I'm using a fork and a marshmallow.
- 14:36Speaker 1: I'm putting it over my gas stove, getting it all
- 14:38Speaker 1: golden and roasted. Right. I put it on top of
- 14:41Speaker 1: the chocolate in the date, and the chocolate melts in
- 14:43Speaker 1: the date. Okay, perfect little healthy sandwich. That's all I
- 14:48Speaker 1: have to say. So you don't use the gram cracker
- 14:50Speaker 1: all you need is the chocolate and marshmallow and a date.
- 14:53Speaker 1: That's it. It literally tastes incredible. I saw it on
- 14:56Speaker 1: bindest I immediately was like, I need to try this
- 14:59Speaker 1: and I'll post it of it soon. But wow, wow, wow,
- 15:02Speaker 1: it's my new obsession. And yeah, just a healthier dessert
- 15:06Speaker 1: option if you're looking to change up your desserts for
- 15:08Speaker 1: the summer. Obviously, it's barbecue season, so I feel like
- 15:11Speaker 1: I'm also craving a lot of food on the barbecue,
- 15:13Speaker 1: like chicken, kebabs, steak, corn on the cob. Okay, corn
- 15:18Speaker 1: on the cob is my favorite thing to have in
- 15:19Speaker 1: the summer. Of course, doing ice cream dates is a
- 15:22Speaker 1: non negotiable. I feel like I'm probably getting ice cream
- 15:24Speaker 1: at least once a week, usually on the weekends. With Zach,
- 15:27Speaker 1: we'll go at some point after dinner and we'll go
- 15:30Speaker 1: get ice cream at a different ice cream shop every
- 15:32Speaker 1: single time, or sometimes we'll go to the beach get
- 15:35Speaker 1: ice cream, walk the beach, or sit on the beach.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Like it's just like a non negotiable for me to
- 15:39Speaker 1: have ice cream in the summer. I think we all
- 15:40Speaker 1: crave ice cream, especially when the climate's so hot. Some
- 15:43Speaker 1: type of cold ice cream or popsicle or anything like that.
- 15:47Speaker 1: I'm one hundred percent craving during this time of the
- 15:49Speaker 1: year when it comes to drinks. I love the idea
- 15:51Speaker 1: of refreshers, especially at Starbucks. I do really love the refreshers.
- 15:55Speaker 1: I love the strawberry a co one. I've also tried
- 15:59Speaker 1: the peach one, which is really good. I think actually
- 16:01Speaker 1: they have a few new refreshers. I'll have to check
- 16:03Speaker 1: it out. I haven't been to Sturbucks in a bit,
- 16:05Speaker 1: but I need to go check out their new refreshers
- 16:07Speaker 1: because I do think they have some really good new ones.
- 16:10Speaker 1: My girlfriend was telling me about it, and she said,
- 16:12Speaker 1: there's like this one that's got like rainbows or bubble
- 16:16Speaker 1: kind of like bubble tea essentially. I don't know, but
- 16:18Speaker 1: she was saying something about how it had like a
- 16:20Speaker 1: passion fruit flavor to it. So yeah, anyways, something that
- 16:25Speaker 1: I need to try and look into that. I also
- 16:27Speaker 1: always crave lemonade around the summer season. I know, it's
- 16:30Speaker 1: so random. I feel like lemonade reminds me of my
- 16:32Speaker 1: childhood because I used to be obsessed with lemonade. So
- 16:36Speaker 1: I feel like I'm definitely wanting more lemonade in the
- 16:38Speaker 1: summer season, Shirley Temples have obviously made to come back.
- 16:42Speaker 1: That was my favorite drink as a kid growing up,
- 16:44Speaker 1: was ordering a Shirley Temple and I feel like that's
- 16:46Speaker 1: made a huge comeback. Whether you want to spike it
- 16:48Speaker 1: or not with alcohol, You're more than welcome to do so.
- 16:50Speaker 1: But Shirley Temples have definitely made to come back. And
- 16:54Speaker 1: of course Hugo Sprits, Apparel sprits. If you are at
- 16:58Speaker 1: a patio with your husband or your boyfriend or your
- 17:01Speaker 1: girlfriends and you're craving a drink. When I'm sitting at
- 17:04Speaker 1: a patio in the summer outside the heat, my immediate
- 17:07Speaker 1: instinct is wanting to order a Hugo Sprits or Naparel sprits.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Those are the two things that I immediately crave. And it's
- 17:13Speaker 1: sprits season, It's the best season. And yeah, those are
- 17:17Speaker 1: like the top things that I can think of when
- 17:19Speaker 1: it comes to summer foods, summer meals. When I think
- 17:23Speaker 1: of summer, I think of those things specifically and things
- 17:25Speaker 1: that I'm like always craving throughout the summer season. Okay,
- 17:28Speaker 1: let's talk about activities now. Things that I want to
- 17:30Speaker 1: do this summer, or things that I feel like I'm
- 17:33Speaker 1: always gravitating towards for plans or anything like that, one
- 17:37Speaker 1: of them being backyard hangouts. I have a very nice
- 17:39Speaker 1: patio that I set up last summer. I really want
- 17:41Speaker 1: to take advantage of using it with my friends. I
- 17:44Speaker 1: want to use their fire in the backyard. We could
- 17:46Speaker 1: also play some board games or even just a card game,
- 17:49Speaker 1: getting some drinks going, getting the barbecue going. Zach also
- 17:53Speaker 1: somehow set up a backyard projector on the fence, so
- 17:57Speaker 1: now we can watch TV outside. We're just doing all
- 18:00Speaker 1: the fun things out there. So anyways, taking advantage of
- 18:03Speaker 1: using our backyard hanging out with friends. It's a new
- 18:06Speaker 1: spot for entertaining. And again, finding time to entertain your
- 18:10Speaker 1: friends during this time of the year is the best.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Going on weekends doing fun things like we're getting out
- 18:15Speaker 1: of the house more again, We're doing things again, which
- 18:17Speaker 1: is nice. So backyard hangouts are definitely one thing that
- 18:20Speaker 1: I'm making a non negotiable. Rollerblading I just purchased myself rollerblades.
- 18:26Speaker 1: I don't know what made me recently think of this,
- 18:28Speaker 1: but as a kid I used to go rollerblading with
- 18:31Speaker 1: my dad and then my two friends and their dads.
- 18:34Speaker 1: We were like, I think, like eight or nine years old,
- 18:37Speaker 1: and we would do this as a hangout with our dads.
- 18:40Speaker 1: And I'm like, I miss doing that, like I miss
- 18:44Speaker 1: going on rollerblade dates. So I am determined to do
- 18:47Speaker 1: rollerblade dates this summer golden hour, going to get ice
- 18:51Speaker 1: cream again, even if you want to, like go to
- 18:53Speaker 1: a specific trail that's paid, Like, there's a few areas
- 18:56Speaker 1: that I can think of in the Autowa area that
- 18:57Speaker 1: I really want to, like drive down with my sister
- 18:59Speaker 1: and my friend, or drive down with Zach and putting
- 19:02Speaker 1: on our roller blades, getting a cardio session, and at
- 19:05Speaker 1: the same time going to get ice cream. Like I
- 19:07Speaker 1: don't know, rollerblading just sounds like a really fun idea
- 19:10Speaker 1: to me. I used to bike all the time, but
- 19:12Speaker 1: I feel like taking my bike to places is obviously
- 19:14Speaker 1: a lot more difficult of shoving our bikes in the car.
- 19:17Speaker 1: I rather just like, grab my roller blades, put my
- 19:19Speaker 1: roller blades on, go rollerblading. I also had been skating
- 19:23Speaker 1: for many years, like I grew up playing Ringett, so
- 19:26Speaker 1: I feel like rollerblading is very similar to skating. So
- 19:28Speaker 1: I feel like I have a really good momentum of
- 19:31Speaker 1: doing it, if that makes sense. So I don't know,
- 19:33Speaker 1: I just like miss that activity and I feel like
- 19:36Speaker 1: it kind of like makes me relive my childhood, which
- 19:38Speaker 1: I think is so important to like relive moments that
- 19:41Speaker 1: make you think of your childhood, whether it's playing a
- 19:44Speaker 1: sport again that you used to love as a kid,
- 19:46Speaker 1: or an activity that you used to do as a kid.
- 19:48Speaker 1: So rollerblading I think is very nostalgic to me, and
- 19:51Speaker 1: I really really want to bring it back. So that's
- 19:54Speaker 1: one thing that I really want to make my summer
- 19:56Speaker 1: activity that I can do on a weekly basis. Obviously,
- 19:59Speaker 1: outdo runs, that's something I'm doing. I think that's something
- 20:02Speaker 1: that you should consider too. If you've loved running in
- 20:04Speaker 1: the past and you've been wanting to get back into it,
- 20:06Speaker 1: this is your sign to maybe start doing it. It
- 20:09Speaker 1: could also be having a picnic with your friends, So
- 20:11Speaker 1: finding the time on the weekends or again a weeknight
- 20:15Speaker 1: after work, getting together with friends, going to a park,
- 20:18Speaker 1: setting up a picnic, everybody bringing their own maybe appetizer
- 20:22Speaker 1: or dessert or drink, and like going to sit at
- 20:25Speaker 1: a park, catch up with your friends, having good food
- 20:28Speaker 1: and just like I don't know, having a good time.
- 20:30Speaker 1: I think that's such a fun little activity to do
- 20:33Speaker 1: in the summer. Work dates. So if you have the
- 20:35Speaker 1: luxury of working from home or being self employed, like
- 20:38Speaker 1: finding time to go to coffee shops or going on
- 20:41Speaker 1: a patio and just like getting work done catching up
- 20:44Speaker 1: with a friend at the same time, maybe if you
- 20:46Speaker 1: can find a friend that also is self employed or
- 20:50Speaker 1: works from home, that would be great because then you
- 20:52Speaker 1: can do it together, but you could also do it
- 20:55Speaker 1: alone solo. Outdoor coffee dates are literally the best. I
- 20:58Speaker 1: love just like going to a coffee shop, getting work done,
- 21:00Speaker 1: being outside, being on a patio like truly is the best.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Just trying to find ways to be outside more and
- 21:07Speaker 1: enjoy the nice weather. For example, today it's like twenty
- 21:10Speaker 1: eight degrees, which is so warm, and I spent my
- 21:13Speaker 1: morning literally working from outside and it was just like
- 21:16Speaker 1: really really enjoyable. I try and have my coffee outside.
- 21:19Speaker 1: I've been journaling outside, I've been meditating outside, I've been
- 21:22Speaker 1: trying to do workouts outside. Like I'm literally being outside
- 21:25Speaker 1: all the time. And the benefit of doing all these
- 21:27Speaker 1: things outside is that I'm also getting a really good
- 21:30Speaker 1: tan which I'm not complaining about I love a tan,
- 21:32Speaker 1: so the fact I'm getting a tan and getting stuff
- 21:35Speaker 1: done at the same time is the most elite combo.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Could also do sunset bike rides, reading outside more so,
- 21:42Speaker 1: whether you want to go to a park or a beach,
- 21:44Speaker 1: and getting a book. That was one of my summer
- 21:46Speaker 1: goals was to read more so I think I want
- 21:48Speaker 1: to get the second book of the whole Off Campus series.
- 21:52Speaker 1: That way I can get a head start on what's
- 21:55Speaker 1: going on with Ali and Dean. That's my goal is
- 21:57Speaker 1: to get that book. And then obviously I do have
- 22:00Speaker 1: a trip coming up, so I want to make sure
- 22:02Speaker 1: I have a book for that that I can ride
- 22:04Speaker 1: on the plane. And I will be at some beaches
- 22:07Speaker 1: for a trip in the coming weeks. So anyways, definitely
- 22:11Speaker 1: have the opportunity to read lots, which is great. This
- 22:13Speaker 1: is something that I used to do with Zach like
- 22:15Speaker 1: a long time ago, and I'm like, we need to
- 22:16Speaker 1: bring this back because it is such a fun date
- 22:19Speaker 1: night idea. But going to the drive in movies, we
- 22:22Speaker 1: have an outdoor drive in movie like set up here.
- 22:27Speaker 1: I'm sure most people probably have a drive in movie
- 22:29Speaker 1: set up in your hometown. But it is really fun
- 22:32Speaker 1: to like open your car trunk or for example, my husband,
- 22:36Speaker 1: he is a truck so we're able to like take
- 22:37Speaker 1: the bed of his truck, put a bunch of blankets
- 22:40Speaker 1: in there. There's popcorn that you could buy candy, and
- 22:43Speaker 1: then you're literally sitting in a forest and you have
- 22:46Speaker 1: this like massive theater screen and you get to watch
- 22:49Speaker 1: movies outdoors, which I think is such a fun idea,
- 22:53Speaker 1: but I haven't done it in like I think the
- 22:55Speaker 1: last time we did it was seven years ago, maybe longer,
- 22:58Speaker 1: like it was a long time ago. And that is
- 23:00Speaker 1: one thing that I brought up to Zac literally the
- 23:02Speaker 1: other night. I was like, we need to do that
- 23:03Speaker 1: again because that was such a fun date night idea.
- 23:05Speaker 1: And I don't know, I think it's a fun little
- 23:07Speaker 1: summer thing to do with your boyfriend or your friends.
- 23:11Speaker 1: I could probably list a thousand more things when it
- 23:13Speaker 1: comes to summer activities, but those are the things that
- 23:15Speaker 1: I can think of right now that I feel like
- 23:17Speaker 1: I'm trying to do this summer. And obviously like activity
- 23:20Speaker 1: could be also like booking things with friends, like going golfing, more,
- 23:25Speaker 1: going to the cottage, more, going camping, planning fun weekends
- 23:29Speaker 1: like that could also be activities that I plan on doing,
- 23:32Speaker 1: but anyways, those are things that I think about when
- 23:34Speaker 1: it comes to summer. It's just again being active, getting
- 23:37Speaker 1: out of the house, doing fun things, and yeah, that's
- 23:41Speaker 1: kind of the things that I plan on doing for
- 23:43Speaker 1: the summer season. So let's talk about lifestyle for a second,
- 23:46Speaker 1: because I kind of talked about like the eighty twenty
- 23:48Speaker 1: rule and how this is the time to really stick
- 23:51Speaker 1: to that rule going into the summer season, because I
- 23:54Speaker 1: think we all kind of feel the urge to obviously
- 23:57Speaker 1: stay healthy, be in our wellness era, but all want
- 24:00Speaker 1: to make sure that they let loose and like still
- 24:02Speaker 1: have those drinks or still have the food that they enjoy,
- 24:05Speaker 1: or still go away for a weekend and not work
- 24:08Speaker 1: out and be okay with that. Right, Like, it's so
- 24:10Speaker 1: so important to prioritize balance this summer season because I
- 24:14Speaker 1: think this is where people get really hard on themselves,
- 24:18Speaker 1: where they think, oh, like this winter, I was so good,
- 24:20Speaker 1: I was so disciplined and like I kept myself so
- 24:23Speaker 1: you know, on top of things, I ate so healthy. Whatever. Well, yeah,
- 24:27Speaker 1: it's because in the winter we're not getting out as much.
- 24:29Speaker 1: We're hibernating, We're staying in the house more. You know,
- 24:32Speaker 1: the days are shorter, it's getting darker outside at like
- 24:36Speaker 1: five pm, Like nobody wants to leave the house. We
- 24:38Speaker 1: all want to stay in, eat our dinner, and go
- 24:40Speaker 1: to bed. Whereas now the lifestyle has really changed in
- 24:43Speaker 1: the summer, where the days are getting longer. The sun's
- 24:46Speaker 1: not setting to like eight thirty nine o'clock, so there's
- 24:48Speaker 1: opportunities for you to get out of the house more
- 24:51Speaker 1: after dinner, whether it's going on a bike ride, going
- 24:54Speaker 1: to hang out with friends, going to just do really anything.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Like the days just feel longer, or you're waking up
- 25:00Speaker 1: earlier because the sunrise is happening at like five point
- 25:04Speaker 1: forty five in the morning versus you know, seven or
- 25:06Speaker 1: eight am when when it would happen in the winter.
- 25:09Speaker 1: All in all, we are not in hibernation mode anymore.
- 25:12Speaker 1: We are finally out of that hump that we don't
- 25:15Speaker 1: want to be in. Right, So I just want to
- 25:17Speaker 1: strive the importance of being balanced and following the eighty
- 25:21Speaker 1: twenty rule and actually being able to still work out
- 25:24Speaker 1: during the week and then maybe have your weekends off
- 25:26Speaker 1: of doing fun things, eating good food, having good drinks, like,
- 25:29Speaker 1: really really prioritize that, and no, as I said, that
- 25:33Speaker 1: a lot of your memories are made when you're not
- 25:35Speaker 1: saying no to these plans. If you want to go
- 25:37Speaker 1: out with the girls and have a patio drink and
- 25:39Speaker 1: have a fun appetizer, you should say yes to that.
- 25:42Speaker 1: You shouldn't have to say no to that. So just
- 25:45Speaker 1: having fun weekends like as I said, beach trips, patio hopping,
- 25:49Speaker 1: cottage weekends. Don't say no to these plans because you
- 25:52Speaker 1: don't want to eat the food or you don't want
- 25:54Speaker 1: to go on the girl's weekend because you want to
- 25:56Speaker 1: make sure you get your workouts in well. Missing two
- 25:58Speaker 1: days is not going to ruin your progum, missing five
- 26:01Speaker 1: days is not going to ruin your progress. So be
- 26:03Speaker 1: really kind to yourself this summer and really prioritize balance
- 26:07Speaker 1: in the eighty twenty rule, because I think your lifestyle
- 26:09Speaker 1: does change a little bit in the summer. But just
- 26:11Speaker 1: know that once winter comes back and the cold comes back,
- 26:15Speaker 1: you're gonna get right back into that grind of being
- 26:18Speaker 1: in that routine that you want, and you probably won't
- 26:20Speaker 1: have as many plans as you typically do. So anyways,
- 26:23Speaker 1: I just wanted to vouch on that and really make
- 26:25Speaker 1: sure that you guys prioritize that this summer, because I
- 26:28Speaker 1: think it's so crucial to yeah, make memories, make plans,
- 26:32Speaker 1: and have a fun summer. Okay. The last category is
- 26:35Speaker 1: fashion inspo, so things that I think about going into
- 26:37Speaker 1: the summer season. When it comes to fashion, this is
- 26:40Speaker 1: probably my favorite category because you guys know how much
- 26:42Speaker 1: I love shopping. I love, you know, just styling outfits
- 26:46Speaker 1: all that, But I'm a simple girl when it comes
- 26:48Speaker 1: to summer, Okay, I need a good pair of shorts,
- 26:51Speaker 1: a cute tank top, and a good tan and I'm happy.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Like I try to not like make my outfits overly done.
- 26:57Speaker 1: I try and make them pretty simple. I feel like
- 26:59Speaker 1: every time I want my outfit to look amazing. It's
- 27:02Speaker 1: more so when I'm on a trip or if I'm
- 27:03Speaker 1: going out for dinner, I want to like obviously put
- 27:05Speaker 1: more effort in my outfit. But during the day, white
- 27:08Speaker 1: tank top, Dunham Jean shorts, I'm a happy girl with
- 27:10Speaker 1: flip flops. That's my go to summer outfit. And then
- 27:13Speaker 1: for going for dinner, I'd probably want a good pair
- 27:15Speaker 1: of Dunham jeans with a really nice top, maybe a
- 27:18Speaker 1: nice pair of sandal strappy heels with a cute bag
- 27:21Speaker 1: and I'm happy, you know what I mean. Or if
- 27:23Speaker 1: I'm going to Europe, yeah, I'm gonna want a nice
- 27:26Speaker 1: two piece set that's like a matching outfit, because again,
- 27:29Speaker 1: we're on vacation. I want to go full out with
- 27:31Speaker 1: my outfits. I want to look good. I feel like
- 27:33Speaker 1: that's the only time I really do get to dress
- 27:35Speaker 1: up is going on vacation or if I'm going to
- 27:37Speaker 1: a wedding, but anything else during the day, patio hopping, whatever. Like,
- 27:42Speaker 1: I'm pretty simple with my outfits because let's be honest,
- 27:45Speaker 1: the tansy outfit, Okay, we all want to look tanned.
- 27:48Speaker 1: We all want to look great for the summers. So anyways,
- 27:51Speaker 1: Dnham shorts and tank top season is officially here. I
- 27:54Speaker 1: actually just picked up a bunch of stuff from a
- 27:55Speaker 1: Ritzia which I'm gonna be posting a hall soon. But
- 27:58Speaker 1: I ordered a bunch of like strapless two tops, tank tops,
- 28:02Speaker 1: light denim, like all that stuff I'm very very much into.
- 28:05Speaker 1: So light denim's really in right now, with like light
- 28:08Speaker 1: denim jeans, jean shorts, light denim tops, jackets, all that
- 28:13Speaker 1: a fun color flip flop. So I just got these
- 28:15Speaker 1: red flip flops. I'm loving them. I'm literally wearing them
- 28:18Speaker 1: all the time. I feel like red is one of
- 28:20Speaker 1: those colors where it can still be neutral. So I'm
- 28:22Speaker 1: wearing it with just like denim jeans and a cute
- 28:25Speaker 1: white top, or again, black pants with a plaid top
- 28:29Speaker 1: over top, like just kind of styling the red flip
- 28:31Speaker 1: flops with a neutral color palette. I also love linen
- 28:35Speaker 1: anything around this time, so like linen tops, linen dresses,
- 28:38Speaker 1: anything white linen is beautiful during this time of the year.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Even like white linen bedding is also really nice. Not
- 28:46Speaker 1: fashion related to whatsoever, but I just love white linen.
- 28:49Speaker 1: When it comes to the summer season, Bucket hats so
- 28:52Speaker 1: obviously need to protect our face, So bucket hats, I
- 28:55Speaker 1: feel like, are something that I gravitate towards during the
- 28:57Speaker 1: summer season. Also baseball hats of denim, mini skirts. I
- 29:02Speaker 1: love a dena miniskirt or mini skirt. Love skirts where
- 29:05Speaker 1: it's a short and skirt in one, crochet tops, anything
- 29:10Speaker 1: with bright color. I feel like I definitely gravitate towards
- 29:13Speaker 1: bright colors in the summer. My recent Aritzia order, I
- 29:16Speaker 1: ordered like a sea foam green tube top, a salmon
- 29:19Speaker 1: pink tube top, and olive green tank top. Like, I
- 29:22Speaker 1: really went fun with the colors. Obviously yellow. You guys
- 29:25Speaker 1: know how much I love yellow, So yeah, just kind
- 29:29Speaker 1: of went really fun with the colors. And I think
- 29:30Speaker 1: that's so important to do in the summer season. We
- 29:33Speaker 1: love the capris over here. I'm a huge Capri girl.
- 29:37Speaker 1: I've been loving it. I don't know if everybody loves capris.
- 29:40Speaker 1: I know it's a love hate relationship, but I am
- 29:44Speaker 1: a Capri girl and it's Capri girl summer, so capris
- 29:47Speaker 1: are out for workouts. I have these black capris from Lululemon.
- 29:51Speaker 1: If you're needing a good black workout, Capri Lululemon is
- 29:54Speaker 1: your girl, so so good. And then I've also seen
- 29:58Speaker 1: people style it with like denim or I know a
- 30:01Speaker 1: Ritzia has a few like cotton capris that you could
- 30:04Speaker 1: style for like athleisure wear or more casual wear. So
- 30:09Speaker 1: capris have definitely made a comeback. Also have been loving
- 30:12Speaker 1: quarter length tops. I think I mentioned that a few
- 30:14Speaker 1: episodes back, but I'm still into it. I think it's
- 30:16Speaker 1: a nice little summer top to wear with jeans. Very
- 30:19Speaker 1: cute basic outfit. And I love that it's not a
- 30:21Speaker 1: long sleeve, but the quarter length obviously makes it very
- 30:24Speaker 1: wearable for the summer and like you're not dying of heat.
- 30:28Speaker 1: It's just like a nice light, breatheable top paired with
- 30:31Speaker 1: other dunhim skirt, dunim shorts or jeans. I think that's
- 30:35Speaker 1: like a cute summer outfit. Having a good staple pair
- 30:39Speaker 1: of black sunglasses. I wear these Amazon sunglasses that I
- 30:42Speaker 1: think I got for like twelve dollars. They're like a
- 30:44Speaker 1: black oval pair of sunglasses. They don't need to be expensive,
- 30:48Speaker 1: but the point is is that they're like my staple
- 30:50Speaker 1: go to sunglasses that I've been wearing for the past
- 30:52Speaker 1: few weeks and I love them. So having a good
- 30:56Speaker 1: black pair of sunglasses, I think is a need for
- 30:58Speaker 1: the summer. And then lastly, just a classic white sneaker
- 31:02Speaker 1: just to have for all your outfits. Again, having a
- 31:05Speaker 1: good staple shoe for the summer I think is important,
- 31:08Speaker 1: So having a fun colored flip flop, having a good
- 31:10Speaker 1: pair of white sneakers, having a staple pair of black sunglasses,
- 31:14Speaker 1: and then again just really having some fun with like
- 31:17Speaker 1: bright colors in your tops, crochet tops, white linen, changing
- 31:22Speaker 1: up your denim color. So maybe if you're a dark
- 31:24Speaker 1: dunim girly, start going down the light denim route now
- 31:27Speaker 1: that it's summer again, tank tops, tube tops, Like I
- 31:31Speaker 1: don't know, that's like my wardrobe right now. Is all
- 31:35Speaker 1: of that for this season, and that's all I'm buying,
- 31:38Speaker 1: That's all I want. And yeah, I just feel like
- 31:41Speaker 1: that's like my inspo for when it comes to fashion
- 31:44Speaker 1: for the summer season. Well, those are my summer obsessions
- 31:47Speaker 1: when it comes to things to do this summer, things
- 31:50Speaker 1: I'm thinking about when it comes to meal inspo, food inspo,
- 31:54Speaker 1: lifestyle changes that I've obviously have been making for the
- 31:57Speaker 1: summer season, and then fashion. But I hope you guys
- 32:00Speaker 1: enjoyed this episode. I hope it inspires you guys to
- 32:03Speaker 1: kind of figure out your lifestyle, your activities, your plans,
