- 0:51Speaker 2: Never contributed as far as I know a nickel diamond
- 0:53Speaker 2: penny to the alumni front and keep them open. They
- 0:55Speaker 2: were kept open by Balley's. I believe some arrangement was made.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Bought the Trump golf course nearby. But think about that.
- 1:03Speaker 2: He was Regis Philman, who appeared three times on the
- 1:08Speaker 2: Celebrity Jeopardy Again. The guy was constantly working out there.
- 1:13Speaker 2: He had the most appearances and in one appearance he
- 1:17Speaker 2: won fifty thousand dollars and gave it right to Cardinal Hayes.
- 1:22Speaker 1: That's what you should do.
- 1:23Speaker 2: If you're doing well and you realize that these Catholic
- 1:26Speaker 2: high schools, they gave so many an opportunity they might
- 1:29Speaker 2: not have had if they had to go to their
- 1:31Speaker 2: local neighborhood public high school. And like j Lo, hey,
- 1:36Speaker 2: j Lo, you forget your roots. Anyway, let's go to
- 1:40Speaker 2: the phones. It's Bob Who's calling from San Diego. Your
- 1:44Speaker 2: turn to be heard here at seven to ten. Woo, Bob, Hey.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Curtis, good to hear you on the here. Earlier you
- 1:51Speaker 3: mentioned the first subway vigilante movie. There would, I think
- 1:55Speaker 3: would be the incident with Martin Sheen and Tony Mussanti.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Oh yeah, And if you haven't seen it, ladies and gentlemen,
- 2:03Speaker 2: you must. A great period piece, black and white, all
- 2:09Speaker 2: these different people getting on the number four train, you know,
- 2:12Speaker 2: coming out of the Bronx going down to Grand Central,
- 2:16Speaker 2: and masonte is a complete psycho. Martin Sheen, I think
- 2:20Speaker 2: that was like his debut. And remember the part that
- 2:23Speaker 2: Ed McMahon played.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Yes, he actually he didn't want to take a cab
- 2:29Speaker 3: to Flushing from the Bronx, so he took the trains
- 2:33Speaker 3: and he played the father of a young girl.
- 2:36Speaker 2: And he was on the car with his wife now
- 2:39Speaker 2: arguing with his wife. Great piece, she's going, let's take
- 2:42Speaker 2: a cab. We got a baby with us that nah,
- 2:45Speaker 2: I take that train, you know an oh boy, these
- 2:49Speaker 2: two psycho boys were in the car. It was like
- 2:52Speaker 2: cockwork Orange before his cockwork Orange. I mean, really, really
- 2:57Speaker 2: a great, great movie that's ever really gotten it, Stue.
- 3:02Speaker 3: It really is a great movie. It just keeps building
- 3:05Speaker 3: and building until the climax. And by the way, you
- 3:08Speaker 3: can watch it free on YouTube. Just search on YouTube
- 3:11Speaker 3: for the incident.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Yeah, please do, especially during Hoghliaday time. A lot of
- 3:17Speaker 2: people like to watch things. You gotta watch this movie.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Every station a different group gets on, or a different couple,
- 3:25Speaker 2: and they're all all of them went on to become
- 3:29Speaker 2: great stars and starletts, and they had their little cameo rolls.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Oh man, what a great, great movie.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Let's go if we can to John, who's calling from?
- 3:41Speaker 2: Is that old Japan?
- 3:43Speaker 4: Curtis, what's up my brother?
- 3:45Speaker 3: Noll?
- 3:45Speaker 4: I just depend on the New York side.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Ah, okay, Curtis.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Good, I'm great to see it down shop on the
- 3:52Speaker 4: dial there, very good. I was incorrect. I thought Alex
- 3:56Speaker 4: Bennett would have been the name you were you were
- 3:58Speaker 4: looking for.
- 3:59Speaker 2: You are absolutely correct, Alex Bennett evening show hosts at
- 4:07Speaker 2: WMC A Bob Grant was Drive Time. You couldn't have
- 4:11Speaker 2: been any more different, Yeah.
- 4:15Speaker 4: He Courtie, Listen, I'm trying. I know you're busy there.
- 4:17Speaker 4: If I want to ask this gum, you know why
- 4:18Speaker 4: I was a little bewildered. I used to be in
- 4:20Speaker 4: Manhattan Detectives. We had a homicide in nineteen ninety two,
- 4:24Speaker 4: fourteenth Street in the hole on the fourth train, a
- 4:28Speaker 4: young man, a hard working, stiff African American, Jerry Robinson,
- 4:32Speaker 4: on his way home at eleven o'clock at night. He
- 4:36Speaker 4: gets held up in the hall at Fourteenth Street. He
- 4:39Speaker 4: pulls out a twenty five pops. Two guys kills one
- 4:43Speaker 4: of them. The third piece took off. They called him
- 4:46Speaker 4: the Blackbernie gets Barry Slotnick represented him at arrangements, and
- 4:51Speaker 4: then an eighteen b attorney took it from there on.
- 4:54Speaker 4: He took a fleet and I didn't do any time.
- 4:57Speaker 4: It was it. It never got well. It hit the
- 4:59Speaker 4: paper that night, drove down in Raymonds, but afterwards it
- 5:02Speaker 4: never got any plate. I was wondering if you knew
- 5:04Speaker 4: about that.
- 5:05Speaker 2: No, I do because I followed those cases. It was
- 5:09Speaker 2: really the team that you had. Barry Slotnik was the
- 5:12Speaker 2: lead attorney, and I'm trying to remember Miller, I think
- 5:17Speaker 2: was his partner.
- 5:19Speaker 1: He had to go, No, Baker, Baker was his partner.
- 5:22Speaker 2: A great team, and they made themselves available for those
- 5:26Speaker 2: kind of cases.
- 5:28Speaker 1: More often than not.
- 5:30Speaker 2: It was black victims fighting back against black assailians. But
- 5:35Speaker 2: you see, it didn't have the ammonium bleach. It didn't
- 5:40Speaker 2: have what you needed. White versus black. I mean that
- 5:42Speaker 2: got you the headlines that kept the headlines going for days.
- 5:46Speaker 2: It was black on black crime. Nothing a mere mention.
- 5:51Speaker 2: By the way, you mentioned Alex Bennett. He was the
- 5:54Speaker 2: tokshow host at WMCA at night. His theme song was
- 5:58Speaker 2: do You Want to Be a Bird? A Class sixth
- 6:00Speaker 2: song from Easy Rider, and man, he would talk about
- 6:04Speaker 2: coming from concerts and he would be like be doing
- 6:09Speaker 2: therapy on himself before this guy did it Seagull remember
- 6:14Speaker 2: a Channel seven? Oh does anybody remember Seagull? I'm just
- 6:16Speaker 2: gonna give you a little hint there. And he would
- 6:19Speaker 2: do the same thing self there. And this guy supported
- 6:22Speaker 2: radical causes. Do you know who ended up taking over
- 6:27Speaker 2: the apartment of Alex Bennett, who went back to San
- 6:30Speaker 2: Francisco where he was from, to Radio Camel where they
- 6:34Speaker 2: spun stacks of wax, did a little bit of talk.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Bernard Getz, who's still in that apartment today right off
- 6:41Speaker 2: of sixth Avenue and fourteenth Street. Wow, the synergy is happening.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Let's go if we can to Stella in close. Your
- 6:52Speaker 2: turn to be heard here at seven ten wr Stella.
- 6:56Speaker 5: Hello, listen to Curtis. Glad to hear you back, and
- 7:01Speaker 5: I'm glad to hear your voice. I'm very concerned and
- 7:05Speaker 5: so are a lot of people in my neighborhood and
- 7:07Speaker 5: queens about Mendanni taking over privately owned homes. Do you
- 7:13Speaker 5: know anything about that?
- 7:15Speaker 2: Well, it's not just Mandami, this was the city of Yes.
- 7:20Speaker 2: I warned everybody about it. Eric Adams got windined in
- 7:24Speaker 2: pocket lined by the developers and realtors, as did Andrew
- 7:27Speaker 2: Evilize Cuomo. So they now have the authority because the
- 7:32Speaker 2: people voted this into the law because everybody's so affordable housing,
- 7:36Speaker 2: and they thought, oh wow, affordable housing.
- 7:39Speaker 1: I'm for that. No, no, no, no no.
- 7:42Speaker 2: So if you happen to live in a residential community
- 7:44Speaker 2: and this is coming to a neighborhood near you. They
- 7:46Speaker 2: call it up zoning, density housing. Kathy Holkol tried that
- 7:53Speaker 2: and realize that wasn't going to work out to get
- 7:56Speaker 2: her elected against leez Elden, so she dropped it like
- 8:00Speaker 2: hot rock. But the whole idea was build high rise housing,
- 8:04Speaker 2: claim it's affordable near train stations along ther Metro North,
- 8:09Speaker 2: and people in residential area say, oh no, no, no,
- 8:11Speaker 2: no no, we don't need any density housing.
- 8:14Speaker 1: We don't need any up zoning.
- 8:16Speaker 2: There's zoning, there's elected officials, there's a process.
- 8:20Speaker 1: So Kathy Hoko recognized that was a third rail.
- 8:25Speaker 2: But in New York City, because the issue became affordable housing,
- 8:28Speaker 2: costs of living, they've pushed through this mandate that gives
- 8:34Speaker 2: developers and realtors the opportunity to come into your neighborhoods
- 8:38Speaker 2: in the outer boroughs, whether you live in the Bronx,
- 8:40Speaker 2: Staten Island, Queens of Brooklyn, and.
- 8:43Speaker 1: They can come into your neighborhood.
- 8:44Speaker 2: They don't have to go through any zoning regulations any longer,
- 8:47Speaker 2: they don't have to meet with the community board, they
- 8:50Speaker 2: don't have to even meet with the local elected officials
- 8:53Speaker 2: if they want to put up a forty story high
- 8:55Speaker 2: rise by the way, with no parking and burden your infrastructure.
- 8:59Speaker 2: They have a right to do it. They've been given
- 9:01Speaker 2: a green light. Worse yet, they're putting up these lithium
- 9:04Speaker 2: ion battery warehouses, which is a real danger to the community.
- 9:10Speaker 2: They're in residential areas. They're supposed to be in industrial areas,
- 9:13Speaker 2: but then again, residential property is cheaper than industrial property.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Thirty eight in.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Staten Island, twelve in Brooklyn, eight in Queens formed the
- 9:22Speaker 2: Bronx none in Manhattan because we don't have enough electricity.
- 9:28Speaker 2: And wait if you think it's bad now, artificial intelligence
- 9:33Speaker 2: is going to need double the amount of electricity and
- 9:36Speaker 2: double the amount of water to run their filing centers.
- 9:43Speaker 2: You haven't heard much about that, have you? Of course,
- 9:45Speaker 2: not talk too much of talk radios. Are you you
- 9:49Speaker 2: see all those Somalian themes in Minnesota?
- 9:51Speaker 1: Could you repeat each other anymore? Like parrots?
- 9:54Speaker 2: How about actually talking about subject matter that affects everybody's.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Live And these.
- 10:02Speaker 2: AI artificial intelligence filing cell centers that are gonna be
- 10:07Speaker 2: built in a neighborhood near you, and they require twice
- 10:10Speaker 2: the amount of electricity that's available on the grid.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Twice the amount of water that you don't even have
- 10:16Speaker 1: access to. And guess who's gonna pay for all of that?
- 10:20Speaker 1: You what is anybody telling you that? Of course not.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Oh and you don't want to miss Friday my annual
- 10:28Speaker 2: tribute to Bernard McGirt, best thing that ever happened at
- 10:31Speaker 2: to our radio. Oh my god, the guy had to
- 10:33Speaker 2: take so much abuse for from don Imus, without which
- 10:36Speaker 2: don would never have been able to function. And also
- 10:41Speaker 2: a plead to all of you to make sure whatever
- 10:44Speaker 2: men folks can run across this New Year's holiday, you
- 10:47Speaker 2: let them know to get that PSA simple prick of
- 10:49Speaker 2: the finger blood test. If only Bernard McGirk had done that,
- 10:54Speaker 2: he would not have died a horrible death from prostate cancer.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Look I had Stage four or I survive that some don't.
- 11:02Speaker 2: The test in most instances will help eliminate it.
