- 1:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah, good, thank you.
- 1:01SPEAKER_04: Uh you you've just come to the UK again.
- 1:04SPEAKER_04: You're back in the UK for how long are you here for this time?
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: Uh I was in Edinburgh for two days, here in London for like seven, and then Brighton, and then I leave.
- 1:13SPEAKER_04: Nice.
- 1:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:14SPEAKER_04: Have you been to Brighton before?
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: Never.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: No.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: I heard to check out the pier and that it's full of gay people.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: So cool?
- 1:21SPEAKER_04: That's pretty accurate.
- 1:22SPEAKER_04: That sounds fun.
- 1:23SPEAKER_04: What's your how are you finding London?
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: My first time was right after the fringe.
- 1:30SPEAKER_04: Oh, you came down here after the fringe?
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: Just to hang out.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: Watch my friend Courtney Perosa's show.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: Oh I just saw that last month.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah?
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: So good.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: So good.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: We time conflicted at Edinburgh, so it's so nice to see it.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: She's so great.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: And Bill O'Neill's show, I gotta see.
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: Well he just ended his second run.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 1:47SPEAKER_04: Maybe third, I think, even.
- 1:49SPEAKER_04: There was a I think I was supposed to go to it a couple of months ago, whatever, like whenever he was doing like one run of it, and then something came up and I had to like give away the ticket and I couldn't go.
- 1:59SPEAKER_04: Bummer.
- 1:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: So good.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: It's so good.
- 2:02SPEAKER_04: Everyone tells me to see it, and I'm just like, I can't.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: But every time I see him, it's like I know it's going well.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: I hear people love it.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: And then he's like, yeah, just a bunch of old people at the show last night.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: It's like, I guess that's what happens if you get a good guardian review.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:15SPEAKER_04: I have actually heard that with the Guardian stuff.
- 2:17SPEAKER_04: It's like what you get a good guardian remote.
- 2:18SPEAKER_04: You get the Guardian review, you get the old people in there.
- 2:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 2:21SPEAKER_04: That's what everyone tells me.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: So thank God I got a bad guardian review, so I could get some young folk in.
- 2:29SPEAKER_04: Well, I came to see you a couple of nights ago and you had a lot of young folk.
- 2:35SPEAKER_04: How are you finding the Soho run so far?
- 2:38SPEAKER_04: Aaron Ross Powell That's fun.
- 2:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: It's like it's interesting to kind of get back into it because like I, you know, I had been touring it in the States right before I went to Fringe, but had kind of taken a little time off from it.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: I uh did it here and there after.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: Fringe is my first time kind of doing it like b again every night I did in Edinburgh on Sunday, and then to do it again.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: You know, it's it's fun to get back into the groove.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: I felt even better about the one last night than the one you saw.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:00SPEAKER_04: So it's like it's I can feel the Trevor Burrus, I always find the first one is a little bit rusty for everyone.
- 3:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:04SPEAKER_04: Especially when they're not from the UK and they don't expect they don't know what to expect.
- 3:08SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 3:08SPEAKER_04: Totally.
- 3:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:09SPEAKER_04: And then they get into it suddenly.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: Aaron Powell I forgot like I forgot the l things I learned here.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: But it took me just like a couple, like a little learning curve to get back to it.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: Just a little pacing thing, like little references.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: I always end up going to the thing.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: You said Macy's again.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: I said Macy's last night instead of Primark.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: Did it land still?
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: I think there were enough Americans there or something.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: Oh, really?
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: I think it's also like you know, kind of what we were talking about, like people will bend to like they'll understand what you mean.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus Yeah.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: Oh, nice.
- 3:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:39SPEAKER_04: And then what what was your Edinburgh?
- 3:40SPEAKER_04: Well you got nominated for best newcomer.
- 3:42SPEAKER_04: So obviously it went really well.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus That was great.
- 3:46SPEAKER_04: Well, how many how many shows did you do?
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: Like you start on the second and you end on the third-hand.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: You didn't do any extra shows or anything.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell No, no one asked me.
- 3:54SPEAKER_01: I would've uh Yeah.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: I mean I've like after the nomination, I kind of like I was it was a good run in a lot of ways.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: But like I saw all of my friends just start selling out pretty quickly, pretty immediately, having great reviews.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: And mine was a bit more of a ramp up.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:10SPEAKER_04: Oh, interesting.
- 4:11SPEAKER_04: I didn't come up until the final week, so like by the time I came up, you already had that like buzz around it.
- 4:15SPEAKER_04: But I was gonna come and I wanted to come and see it anyway.
- 4:18SPEAKER_04: But then when I came up, I was taking some shows up there and they crashed.
- 4:23SPEAKER_04: So I was taking I ended up taking Alexandra Haddow at The Pleasants, and then um Rory and Joe Television, which is like a sketch show.
- 4:33SPEAKER_04: And then that was in Assembly.
- 4:35SPEAKER_04: How how were they?
- 4:36SPEAKER_04: Great, yeah, it was really fun.
- 4:37SPEAKER_04: But they were like, that's the one that clashed with you.
- 4:39SPEAKER_04: And I was like, I can't.
- 4:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:41SPEAKER_04: Because I'd planned to come and see you anyway.
- 4:42SPEAKER_04: It was like I'd I'd known you from weirdly from like the the like days of like Chris Gethard stuff.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: Oh sure.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:51SPEAKER_04: Because I was a big fan of like all of his uh online thing, like everything he would do, like all the uh public access stuff, and that that's kind of how I got into comedy, and then I just kind of like learned about I saw you doing stuff on there, and then I was like, oh this is great, I'm gonna come see you when I'm up there, and then just couldn't go.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: Damn.
- 5:06SPEAKER_04: Well, so yeah.
- 5:09SPEAKER_04: But it was great.
- 5:10SPEAKER_04: I had a really good time.
- 5:11SPEAKER_04: Good, yeah, glad.
- 5:12SPEAKER_04: Thanks, man.
- 5:13SPEAKER_04: And uh so what's your um what are you what's your plans with this show then?
- 5:19SPEAKER_04: Are you gonna you're gonna record it or you don't record it already?
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell The hope is to tape it like in April.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: But you know, it's already January, so you'd think I would have like a firm date or something.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: So I don't know.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: We'll see what happens.
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's not too bad.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: Aaron Powell I'm sure yeah, there's still time.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: I gotta send some emails and stuff.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: I've just been kind of like focused on you know, it was like the holidays.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, of course.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: Focused on this run.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: Right before I came here, I was on a I was performing on a cruise.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I remember you saying EDM cruise.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: EDM cruise.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: EDM cruise.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: There's like a hundred DJs and like three comedians.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: Who were the other comedians?
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell A woman named Shelly, who was uh like a regular goer to there.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: So like uh me and my girlfriend just kind of like followed her lead and she like showed us all the rope.
- 6:01SPEAKER_01: She was like, here's earplugs.
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: You guys didn't bring earplugs, you idiots.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: I'm like, we didn't know.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: Uh and then the other guy, Nick Thune.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: Oh, I know Nick Thune.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: So it's just like what an odd.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: One person who knows what they're doing, fucking me with my Can I swear on this?
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: Fucking fucking me.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: Uh and then Nick Thune, who's like just a big low under on his EDM cruise.
- 6:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:21SPEAKER_04: So did you go and watch any of the EDM?
- 6:24SPEAKER_04: Uh saw some of it.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: Saw some of it.
- 6:27SPEAKER_04: Big EDM fan.
- 6:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: I don't think I was converted, but I respect their culture.
- 6:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah, fair enough.
- 6:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: Skrillex was there.
- 6:37SPEAKER_04: Where else would he be?
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: Well, I mean, they were they were like he was on the poster.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: And then day of on like the newsletter, they would like put newsletters on everybody's door or cabin door, and they were like, Skrillex confirmed for tonight.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: We're like, we thought he was already on the poster.
- 6:49SPEAKER_04: Like, why are you telling us this?
- 6:51SPEAKER_04: It's not going to be like, oh, now I'm going to go as well.
- 6:55SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 6:55SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 6:56SPEAKER_04: It's like I don't know.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: Dita Vonties was on the show or on the cruise too.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: So she did her own show.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: That was a lot of fun.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: Cool.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: How long were you on there for?
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: Five days.
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: I'd say like one too many days.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: But it was fun.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: It was actually a lot of fun.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: But it was that I was focused on that.
- 7:15SPEAKER_01: It's like this big like vacation out of the country.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: And then I was in New York for less than 24 hours before hopping on a plane over here.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: Suffered jet lag like I had never had ever.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: Well, I had only been to Edinburgh before.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: And I had like a couple days built in and just kind of get acclimated.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: So this one was going to be a little bit more cr EDM cruise straight to the UK to perform like that first day.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: So I was I've been struggling with that.
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:41SPEAKER_04: I'm okay.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: Today I woke up at noon.
- 7:43SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 7:44SPEAKER_04: I woke up at noon.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: Uh one.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: But yesterday four.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: The day before five.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: I was not doing great.
- 7:50SPEAKER_04: But anyway, the day before you woke up at five, but then you got on the Oh no, you went you came you coming from Edinburgh, weren't you?
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: In Edinburgh.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: It was like I I mean P.M.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: Like I'm talking about.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:00SPEAKER_01: So at 5 p.m., I did my show at 8 p.m.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: or s yeah, 8 p.m.
- 8:04SPEAKER_01: in Edinburgh.
- 8:05SPEAKER_01: And then in the morning I woke up.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: Sorry, I'm forgetting a day.
- 8:09SPEAKER_04: But still, like this has all been a blur.
- 8:11SPEAKER_04: I don't even know what's going on.
- 8:12SPEAKER_04: I don't know where I am right now.
- 8:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I know.
- 8:14SPEAKER_04: It does feel like I saw you yesterday as well, to be fair.
- 8:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 8:18SPEAKER_04: What else are you doing when you're here then?
- 8:22SPEAKER_04: You got anything else that you're up to?
- 8:24SPEAKER_01: Stamp town.
- 8:24SPEAKER_01: Doing stamp towns.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: So that'll be a fun weekend.
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: That's about it.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: Sunday I have completely off, so I don't know.
- 8:30SPEAKER_01: What should I do?
- 8:30SPEAKER_01: What's fun to do?
- 8:32SPEAKER_01: That is easy, and I don't really want to do it anything.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: I just kind of want to chill with my friends.
- 8:36SPEAKER_04: What area are you staying in?
- 8:38SPEAKER_04: Aaron Ross Powell Why does everyone stay in Bethnel Green when they do so theater?
- 8:42SPEAKER_01: Is that right?
- 8:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 8:43SPEAKER_01: I did I like researched a few different I was gonna crash on a friend's couch, but I was just like, I think I need my own space and I don't want to burden her with like having like me stay there for like seven days.
- 8:52SPEAKER_01: So I was like, okay, let me see like what's around.
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: And I found like this like cheap spot, Bethnel Green, and I love the area.
- 8:57SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: Bethnel Green's great.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's great around there.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: I know I do.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: Last time I was here, I stayed in Notting Hill.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: I did not like Notting Hill.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: No, Notting Hill's too fancy.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 9:06SPEAKER_01: It's too fancy.
- 9:06SPEAKER_01: Everything closes at 7 p.m.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: It's like horrible.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: So especially coming from the fringe and wanting to go back to New York to be in Notting Hill.
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: I was like, no thanks.
- 9:15SPEAKER_01: Never even seen the movie.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: No.
- 9:17SPEAKER_01: But you're not missing any movie.
- 9:21SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 9:21SPEAKER_04: So you're if you're in Bethlehem Green, have you been to Shoreditch yet?
- 9:24SPEAKER_04: You've been to like Shoreditch and Brick Lane and that sort of because you're right near there.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: Today's the first day I've left the hotel before.
- 9:34SPEAKER_04: Well I appreciate it then.
- 9:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah, the show.
- 9:36SPEAKER_04: So I would say this is weird to say to a New Yorker, but Brick Lane bagels.
- 9:43SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 9:44SPEAKER_04: Open 24 hours.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: Oh that's good to know.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 9:47SPEAKER_01: I'm actually going to write that down if you don't mind.
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: So it's cool.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: So there's the two there's two bagel shops next to each other.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: Brick Lane bagels.
- 9:55SPEAKER_04: So there's two next to each other.
- 9:57SPEAKER_04: You want the one on the right, which is the one with the white sign.
- 10:03SPEAKER_04: Wait, what?
- 10:04SPEAKER_04: The right side?
- 10:05SPEAKER_04: With the white sign.
- 10:10SPEAKER_04: People have their opinions on it, or like which is the better one.
- 10:12SPEAKER_04: The white the one with the white sign is always has a long a line down the road.
- 10:17SPEAKER_04: Interesting.
- 10:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:18SPEAKER_01: But it's open twenty-four hours.
- 10:19SPEAKER_04: 24 hours, yeah.
- 10:22SPEAKER_04: 24 hours, seven days a week never closes.
- 10:25SPEAKER_04: That's amazing.
- 10:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:26SPEAKER_04: I think it closed one one day, like one week or something during the pandemic, and that was it, or something like that.
- 10:31SPEAKER_04: Which is crazy.
- 10:32SPEAKER_04: I don't know how it's opened so long.
- 10:34SPEAKER_04: But it's just constant time.
- 10:36SPEAKER_04: I appreciate that.
- 10:37SPEAKER_01: As somebody you know from New York or living in New York who has access to everything all the time.
- 10:42SPEAKER_01: Last night I was trying to find food in my area.
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: It's tough, isn't it?
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: They had a McDonald's that claims to be open till 3 a.m.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: There I am, 110 a.m., and they're closed.
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: And other people banging on the door.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: That McDonald's, yeah.
- 10:54SPEAKER_04: I've I know that McDonald's as well, and that's that should be open until three.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: So I just had to go to a little store and get just like meats and cheese.
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: And just like ate that the saddest meal at 1 and 1.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: I just hung out.
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: I hung out a bit at Soho after.
- 11:12SPEAKER_01: Oh, nice.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: Bill Bill was still here before he left today.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: So it was nice to see him.
- 11:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: Natalie's doing her show.
- 11:20SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 11:20SPEAKER_01: We time conflict, so I can't see her.
- 11:22SPEAKER_04: But Palamedes.
- 11:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 11:23SPEAKER_04: Oh, nice.
- 11:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 11:24SPEAKER_04: I didn't know she was here at the moment.
- 11:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:26SPEAKER_04: Work in progress.
- 11:27SPEAKER_04: Oh shit.
- 11:28SPEAKER_04: Gonna try and go see that then.
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you should.
- 11:30SPEAKER_04: Do you know how long she's on for?
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: Uh I think we have the exact same days, so Saturday is her last day also.
- 11:36SPEAKER_04: I don't know if we can see it then.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: Damn.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: But we'll be on the Stamp Towns.
- 11:40SPEAKER_04: I can't go see Stamptown.
- 11:41SPEAKER_04: It finishes too late.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: Oh, oh shit.
- 11:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 11:47SPEAKER_04: They stop before Stamptown finishes.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: Ooh, brutal.
- 11:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: Which is really annoying.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: I saw the Elizabeth line is going to be down this weekend.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: Sorry to just this is not good podcast stuff.
- 11:58SPEAKER_01: I just want to know.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: Is that is that is that going to screw everything up?
- 12:02SPEAKER_04: I didn't No, I won't screw everything up.
- 12:04SPEAKER_04: As long as you don't try and get that, you'll be fine.
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: Alright, I guess.
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: That's just the one I've been taking.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: I got scared.
- 12:09SPEAKER_01: Anyway.
- 12:10SPEAKER_04: You'll end up on a longer You'll end up on the central line, which is longer.
- 12:13SPEAKER_04: But I'll do a bus.
- 12:14SPEAKER_04: It's fine.
- 12:16SPEAKER_04: It doesn't take very long to get there.
- 12:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:19SPEAKER_04: So let's talk about what you actually gave here to talk.
- 12:24SPEAKER_04: I always end up on tangents.
- 12:26SPEAKER_04: It's also been, like I was saying to you, it's been like six months since I since I did the last the last one.
- 12:30SPEAKER_01: So it's an honor to be the first back.
- 12:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:36SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 12:37SPEAKER_04: Oh fun.
- 12:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:38SPEAKER_04: When he was here.
- 12:38SPEAKER_04: It was whenever he was here.
- 12:39SPEAKER_04: So like What movie did he do?
- 12:41SPEAKER_01: Rocky Four.
- 12:42SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 12:43SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: I've never seen a Rocky movie.
- 12:45SPEAKER_04: None of them.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: No, none of them.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: Not a one.
- 12:48SPEAKER_04: Are you wait, I actually have a question because you said you hadn't seen Rocky, and then you also said you hadn't seen Might bring it up later, but you haven't seen La La Land.
- 12:56SPEAKER_04: So what was the one you said you hadn't seen?
- 12:57SPEAKER_04: It was um I don't know.
- 12:59SPEAKER_04: Oh, you said you said some big film that you hadn't seen.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: Yesterday or earlier today?
- 13:03SPEAKER_04: Uh we were just talking about something, and you said I swear you said you hadn't seen or something.
- 13:08SPEAKER_01: I don't remember.
- 13:09SPEAKER_01: It'll come up.
- 13:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:10SPEAKER_04: But like, are you are you a big movie fan or are you just like uh Yeah?
- 13:14SPEAKER_01: I like movies.
- 13:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:15SPEAKER_01: I think like I used to watch a ton, like you know, when you're like in high school, college, and you're like trying to I mean not I not uh that I went to college, but college age.
- 13:22SPEAKER_01: Um did you not go?
- 13:24SPEAKER_01: I dropped out pretty quickly.
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: Uh Stephen F.
- 13:29SPEAKER_01: Austin State University in Nacados, Texas.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: Oh, big fan of it.
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: Uh it was a very small town that like I didn't want to go to college.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: I was already doing comedy.
- 13:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:39SPEAKER_01: But my girlfriend at the time, my high school sweetheart was already going there for like a year.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: So I was like, if I have to go to go my parents are forcing me, if I have to go, then I'll go with my girlfriend.
- 13:48SPEAKER_01: And I showed up and like one month in, I was like, I actually hate this.
- 13:51SPEAKER_01: I was right, I don't want to be in college, and I shouldn't have come here.
- 13:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, fair enough.
- 13:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:55SPEAKER_04: And what and so do you go straight into comedy then?
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I started in high school.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: Oh, nice.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: Like I already got a taste of stand-up.
- 14:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 14:02SPEAKER_04: Oh wow.
- 14:03SPEAKER_04: I can't even imagine starting that in high school.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:07SPEAKER_01: I think honestly, like just the blind confidence of a high schooler is the way I could get in.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: Because looking at some of the stuff I've done now, just like how the hell did I have the courage to do it?
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: To move to New York when I was like, you know, 22 or something, like you know, like twenty-one, maybe?
- 14:22SPEAKER_04: I did a semester there when I was 20.
- 14:24SPEAKER_04: And that was that was fun.
- 14:25SPEAKER_04: That's pretty exciting.
- 14:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I did like a a s a study abroad like exchange program there.
- 14:29SPEAKER_04: Nice.
- 14:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was really fun.
- 14:31SPEAKER_04: That's kind of like where I learned about a lot of comedy stuff.
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: Like what?
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: Like Chris Gethard?
- 14:35SPEAKER_04: Like Gethard, UCB, uh like all of that sort of stuff.
- 14:38SPEAKER_04: And then I kind of got into improv through there and then did that for a long time, and then I moved into stand up and then yeah, been doing that since.
- 14:46SPEAKER_04: Hell yeah.
- 14:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: Have you had Chris Gethard on this podcast?
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: No.
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: No.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: Have you reached out?
- 14:52SPEAKER_01: Sorry?
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: Have you reached out?
- 14:54SPEAKER_04: Um I think I was gonna reach out when he did Fringe, and then I just didn't end up recording anything up there.
- 15:00SPEAKER_04: Sure, sure.
- 15:01SPEAKER_04: Um it was the year before you, wasn't it?
- 15:04SPEAKER_04: It wasn't yeah, it was ten years ago.
- 15:06SPEAKER_04: No, um, I've had um Connor Ratliff.
- 15:08SPEAKER_04: Uh and I've had um Do you know Patrick Cotton?
- 15:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, of course.
- 15:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:12SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, of course you know.
- 15:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:14SPEAKER_04: I've had them on.
- 15:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: What movie did they do it together or something?
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: No, no, they didn't separately.
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: What movies did they do?
- 15:19SPEAKER_04: Connor did The Good German.
- 15:22unknown: Okay.
- 15:22SPEAKER_04: Which is very Connor.
- 15:24SPEAKER_04: I don't even know that one.
- 15:25SPEAKER_04: So it's like very serious um uh Steven Soderberg movie with George Clooney.
- 15:30SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 15:31SPEAKER_04: It's like a World War II like reenactment.
- 15:34SPEAKER_04: Not reenactment, it's like a they try and film it to make it look like it's filmed at that time.
- 15:38SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 15:39SPEAKER_04: So it's just interesting.
- 15:41SPEAKER_04: And then Patrick did um Van Helsing.
- 15:46unknown: Okay.
- 15:47SPEAKER_04: Nice.
- 15:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 15:49SPEAKER_04: But those were both over Zoom.
- 15:51SPEAKER_04: Like this was like I did a lot of stuff over Zoom in the pandemic.
- 15:55SPEAKER_04: Like we I that was one of them did.
- 15:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 15:57SPEAKER_04: I I got so many people on the podcast through there.
- 16:00SPEAKER_04: I got like Adam Palley was on there at one point because he was just like he had nothing to do.
- 16:05SPEAKER_01: Why couldn't you get Gethorn on during the Zoom days?
- 16:07SPEAKER_04: I think I didn't just have any contact at the time.
- 16:09unknown: Yeah.
- 16:10unknown: Yeah.
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: Message him on Instagram, no?
- 16:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 16:13SPEAKER_04: I think now I can.
- 16:13SPEAKER_04: I think back then, like some weird thing that you couldn't do.
- 16:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 16:18SPEAKER_01: But yeah.
- 16:19SPEAKER_04: I'll get him on eventually.
- 16:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 16:20SPEAKER_04: I hadn't met him.
- 16:21SPEAKER_04: I was like, that piece of shit.
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: Because he's better than you.
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: Don't take that shit.
- 16:28SPEAKER_04: Didn't he have a baby around that time as well?
- 16:29SPEAKER_04: Maybe that was what it was.
- 16:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: He was like, Oh, I got a baby.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: Fuck you.
- 16:34SPEAKER_04: Did you have a did you have a right for the show?
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: No.
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: No, his his show?
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: No, no.
- 16:39SPEAKER_01: No.
- 16:41SPEAKER_01: Become friends until like after his show ended.
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: Oh right.
- 16:44SPEAKER_04: Just when they did the like they shifted over to doing like the single shows.
- 16:49SPEAKER_04: They did like one one-off shows every so with like random people.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: Well it's like, yeah, he had his show on TV.
- 17:01SPEAKER_01: And then brought back uh the public access thing with me.
- 17:04SPEAKER_01: And I did one I did a couple of those.
- 17:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: That's what I'm saying.
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: But so in that year, we just he just saw me at a stand-up show and became friends.
- 17:11SPEAKER_01: Oh nice.
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: Cool.
- 17:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 17:13SPEAKER_04: Do you see him a lot now or do you haven't seen him yet?
- 17:15SPEAKER_01: I haven't seen him in a little bit, but just I've been kind of traveling around.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 17:19SPEAKER_01: I wanna I'm I'm gonna hit him up when I get back, actually.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: We were texting.
- 17:22SPEAKER_01: Oh nice.
- 17:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 17:23SPEAKER_01: I tell him to do my podcast.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm gonna tell you.
- 17:31SPEAKER_04: Okay, so you you did actually come on to talk about uh you came on to defend a movie that's I'm sure people are very much ex uh wanting to hear about because it's considered one of the worst movies of all time.
- 17:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 17:45SPEAKER_04: Jack and Jill.
- 17:46SPEAKER_04: Jack and Jill.
- 17:47SPEAKER_04: Sandman.
- 17:48SPEAKER_04: Sandman.
- 17:49SPEAKER_04: Do you know what the rating is?
- 17:50SPEAKER_04: Uh I th I it was like four percent?
- 17:52SPEAKER_04: Is that right?
- 17:53SPEAKER_04: Three percent.
- 17:54SPEAKER_04: It lost a percent.
- 17:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's lost.
- 17:56SPEAKER_04: 118 reviews.
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: That's amazing.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: And you know, yeah.
- 18:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I remember that.
- 18:04SPEAKER_01: You know, like I remember that.
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: What's why I never watched it until Halloween.
- 18:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:12SPEAKER_04: No, it's three months.
- 18:13SPEAKER_04: Three months ago.
- 18:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:14SPEAKER_01: I saw it for the first time ever.
- 18:16SPEAKER_04: What what made you watch it?
- 18:17SPEAKER_04: It was on.
- 18:18SPEAKER_04: Oh, just on the five.
- 18:19SPEAKER_04: It was on.
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: We my girlfriend are uh Sandler fans.
- 18:22SPEAKER_04: I am a Sandler fan.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: So we're just like, oh, this is one we've never seen.
- 18:26SPEAKER_01: Like, let's put it on.
- 18:26SPEAKER_01: Why not?
- 18:28SPEAKER_01: Her foot was broken.
- 18:29SPEAKER_01: Oh, right.
- 18:29SPEAKER_01: She broke, she went, she was at fringe, broke her foot there, was wearing a boot the whole time.
- 18:34SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: Got back to the States and they were like, you should not have been walking around all of Edinburgh on a boot.
- 18:38SPEAKER_01: And she's like, I climbed Arthur's seat.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: You should not have climbed a mountain with this broken foot.
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: So she had to get surgery.
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: Um by the time they did the surgery, it was like the week before Halloween.
- 18:47SPEAKER_01: So like, you know, whatever October 20-something, 27th, actually, I remember.
- 18:51SPEAKER_01: And uh so she was on full bed rest for Halloween.
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: And so we couldn't go anywhere.
- 18:55SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, let's just like stay in and watch movies.
- 18:57SPEAKER_01: We're gonna watch scary movies, but then we're gonna like, let's just watch Jack in Jill.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: I mean, it was pretty scary.
- 19:04SPEAKER_00: We loved it.
- 19:05SPEAKER_04: We were c laughing up a storm.
- 19:07SPEAKER_04: What did you think?
- 19:08SPEAKER_04: What did I think?
- 19:09SPEAKER_04: So here's the thing.
- 19:10SPEAKER_04: I've been on a I've been on an Adam Sandler podcast before talking about this movie.
- 19:15SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 19:15SPEAKER_04: But I watched it for the first time to talk about it.
- 19:17SPEAKER_04: Aaron Ross Powell, you're kidding.
- 19:18SPEAKER_04: When was that?
- 19:19SPEAKER_04: A couple years ago.
- 19:20SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: I think you you mentioned this, I think.
- 19:22SPEAKER_04: But Oh maybe it is.
- 19:24SPEAKER_01: You mentioned that you watched it before.
- 19:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mentioned I watched it before.
- 19:26SPEAKER_04: I've seen it once before.
- 19:27SPEAKER_04: So I watched it again last night, but I watched it I don't know what I seen it once before for that podcast because I thought it would be very funny for me to pick that.
- 19:37SPEAKER_04: But I wasn't on there to defend it, that's the thing.
- 19:40SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 19:42SPEAKER_04: I think it might be his worst movie.
- 19:47SPEAKER_04: Why?
- 19:48SPEAKER_04: Why?
- 19:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah, why do you why do you feel that way?
- 19:52SPEAKER_04: I think Jill is one of the most annoying characters.
- 19:55SPEAKER_04: Interesting.
- 19:57SPEAKER_04: Interesting.
- 19:59SPEAKER_04: And I don't like Jack either.
- 20:02SPEAKER_04: Jack sucks.
- 20:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Jack sucks.
- 20:03SPEAKER_04: Jack sucks.
- 20:04SPEAKER_01: He's like a real dick to his sister.
- 20:06SPEAKER_01: And his sister, here's the thing.
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: She's she's loud, she's a bra and here's also the thing.
- 20:11SPEAKER_01: I think Adam Sandler does a great job of performing as this Jill character.
- 20:15SPEAKER_01: I think I think I I lose, I like he does a good job for me of being Jill.
- 20:22SPEAKER_01: I believe Jill.
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: One of the worst parts is the opening.
- 20:25SPEAKER_01: I hated the opening of the movie.
- 20:26SPEAKER_01: Oh, the opening's horrible.
- 20:27SPEAKER_01: With all the twins making jokes that are scripted.
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: I'm like, this sucks.
- 20:30SPEAKER_01: This sucks shit.
- 20:31SPEAKER_01: The opening and the ending.
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: They're doing like a uh when Harry met Sally type thing.
- 20:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then at the ending, too, I'm like, I hate that.
- 20:37SPEAKER_01: Cut cut that from the movie.
- 20:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:38SPEAKER_01: Uh but I I don't know.
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: I think Adam Sandler as Jill, I'm like, I I'm impressed.
- 20:44SPEAKER_01: Um I've always been impressed by his acting.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: You've seen Little Nikki.
- 20:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, of course I've seen Little Nikki.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: I just saw Little Nikki for the first time a few months ago, also.
- 20:51SPEAKER_01: Also, former uh podcast episode.
- 20:55SPEAKER_01: Oh shit.
- 20:55SPEAKER_01: Ah, well, damn, that would have been a better one.
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: But it's already been done.
- 20:58SPEAKER_01: Easier def defense.
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: Who defended that one?
- 21:01SPEAKER_04: Uh Brit Mix.
- 21:02SPEAKER_04: I don't know if you know her.
- 21:03SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell Oh, yeah.
- 21:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:05SPEAKER_01: New York comedian.
- 21:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know Britt.
- 21:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:07SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's fun.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, I saw Little Nikki for the first time, and that one was really fun.
- 21:11SPEAKER_01: And I I thought Sandman was super impressive in his commitment to this very silly role, this very silly voice.
- 21:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:17SPEAKER_01: He's good.
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: Like he I I think.
- 21:19SPEAKER_01: But you disagree, is what I'm feeling.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: You don't think he does a good job as Jill?
- 21:23SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 21:24SPEAKER_04: No, I think it's so are you how f how familiar with you are you with his like old stuff?
- 21:30SPEAKER_01: Aaron Powell I mean I'm I've I'm a big fan.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: Even though I haven't seen hadn't seen Little Nikki until recently.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: I'm a I'm a big I'm a big Sandler fan.
- 21:37SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 21:37SPEAKER_04: So he Yeah, that's it.
- 21:43SPEAKER_04: Oh, sure.
- 21:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 21:46SPEAKER_04: One of those ones.
- 21:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 21:48SPEAKER_04: But it's like the same character.
- 21:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:51SPEAKER_04: There's nothing new about it.
- 21:53SPEAKER_04: So this is a thirty year old character.
- 21:55SPEAKER_01: You just bring him back.
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: He d but I d I think his commitment to it.
- 22:02SPEAKER_01: Aaron Powell No, he's trying.
- 22:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:06SPEAKER_04: But it also does feel like one of his let's all get together and just have fun with my friend's movie.
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus Well, yeah.
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: I mean, I've seen Grown Ups, I've seen Grown Ups 2.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: Grown Ups 2 is not a movie.
- 22:15SPEAKER_01: It's just like angry.
- 22:18SPEAKER_04: Actually, this is better than Gronups 2.
- 22:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:20SPEAKER_01: Have you seen The Ridiculous Six?
- 22:22SPEAKER_04: No.
- 22:23SPEAKER_04: I did not like The Ridiculous Six.
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: I watched it with my friend and we want we went in being like, let's like give this one a chance.
- 22:29SPEAKER_04: And that one was Trevor Burrus I think that's one of the only movies that have zero percent.
- 22:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:32SPEAKER_01: Ta Taylor Lautner delivers maybe the worst comedic performance I've seen in God knows how long.
- 22:38SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: Oh, I like him.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: It's Ridiculous Six.
- 22:47SPEAKER_01: But I think this one got extra hate because it came at a certain time when people were Rotten Tomatoes was just kind of like really becoming a thing.
- 22:54SPEAKER_01: And like people were like, I'm I'm smart, and that people are like, oh, this is so ridiculous.
- 23:00SPEAKER_01: He's playing like a woman like character.
- 23:01SPEAKER_01: Like this is so s I think it just like came at the right time that it got such a low percentage.
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: Maybe in the 30s.
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: I'd give it like in the 30s, you know, but like for three percent?
- 23:11SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 23:11SPEAKER_01: You're disagreeing with me.
- 23:12SPEAKER_04: But this has that the audience score is 36.
- 23:15SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 23:15SPEAKER_01: Thank you, audience.
- 23:17SPEAKER_01: But it's um that's that's the percent of people who like my show.
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: So that's guardian readers.
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: Three out of five.
- 23:28SPEAKER_04: I'd take that.
- 23:29SPEAKER_04: Are you on three out of five?
- 23:30SPEAKER_04: That's not bad.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: Can I share with you the the quote from the Garden review?
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: Trevor Burrus, Jr.: Is it Logan?
- 23:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, it was that guy.
- 23:39SPEAKER_01: Of course.
- 23:39SPEAKER_01: Whatever that guy's Brian.
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: Did you see Sam Campbell's uh speech at the end?
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: Oh, the speech, yeah, yeah.
- 23:47SPEAKER_04: So I thought you meant his review Logan's review of him.
- 23:49SPEAKER_04: So yeah, that's that's yeah.
- 23:50SPEAKER_04: Campbell's speech.
- 23:51SPEAKER_04: I was crying with laughter.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: So this is my favorite quote from my Guardian review.
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: Good luck disentangling whether we're laughing at misogyny and child abuse or at a desperate comic who thinks they're clever.
- 24:07SPEAKER_04: I mean, I think it's pretty obvious what you're doing.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: Good luck.
- 24:11SPEAKER_04: But still three stars.
- 24:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:15SPEAKER_04: I mean, I saw he also gave Arouge three stars, so.
- 24:19unknown: Yeah.
- 24:19SPEAKER_01: What did he like?
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: Bill O'Neill, actually.
- 24:23SPEAKER_04: Five stars.
- 24:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: Fair enough.
- 24:26SPEAKER_01: Anyway.
- 24:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:27SPEAKER_01: So sometimes reviewers can be wrong.
- 24:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:30SPEAKER_04: That's true.
- 24:30SPEAKER_04: I don't always agree with reviewers.
- 24:32SPEAKER_04: Like I th there are a lot of movies on here that come that people come on here with that I actually enjoy.
- 24:36SPEAKER_04: I do like Rocky Four.
- 24:38SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 24:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:39SPEAKER_04: I um Yeah, what else do I like?
- 24:42SPEAKER_04: I liked I like Little Nikki.
- 24:44SPEAKER_04: I don't hate it.
- 24:45SPEAKER_01: I I thought it was yeah, I thought it was really funny.
- 24:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:48SPEAKER_04: Uh Hate Grown Ups 2.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: You know, I saw that in theaters with my family.
- 24:54SPEAKER_01: My my dad loved it.
- 24:56SPEAKER_04: How old were you when that came out?
- 24:57SPEAKER_01: Grown ups too?
- 24:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 25:01SPEAKER_01: Well, that was kind of recent, right?
- 25:02SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 25:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, maybe.
- 25:05SPEAKER_01: Twenty fourteen?
- 25:07SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 25:07SPEAKER_01: That was in my early twenties, I think.
- 25:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 25:10SPEAKER_04: I was I'm thinking about Jack and Jill.
- 25:12SPEAKER_04: I was just going to be able to do that.
- 25:14SPEAKER_04: No, no, I don't think about both.
- 25:15SPEAKER_04: I'm trying to think of like a lot of people.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: I think Jack and Jill probably came out before.
- 25:20SPEAKER_04: Jack and Jill came out in 2011.
- 25:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:21SPEAKER_01: So Grown Ups 2 must have come out in 2012, 2013, something.
- 25:24SPEAKER_01: Something where I was like watching with my dad who was really enjoying it.
- 25:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:28SPEAKER_01: And just being like, I was like back home for the summer.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: And so I was like just hanging out.
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: It was just like a nice, pleasant thing to have on.
- 25:34SPEAKER_01: I didn't hate it, but I could tell it was bad.
- 25:36SPEAKER_01: I was like, there's no plot, there's no care, there's no nothing.
- 25:39SPEAKER_01: It's just these guys hanging out.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: That I can see.
- 25:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 25:42SPEAKER_04: I um I just remember like I was working at a summer camp when the original grown-ups came out.
- 25:48SPEAKER_04: And this guy had this guy had gone to see The Last Airbender.
- 25:53SPEAKER_04: And he was like, oh, it was amazing.
- 25:56SPEAKER_04: It was just like this great movie.
- 25:57SPEAKER_04: And I was like, okay, I'm not going to trust this guy's reviews.
- 26:00SPEAKER_04: And then he went and saw grown-ups, and he's like, You have to see grown-ups.
- 26:03SPEAKER_04: You have to see it.
- 26:04SPEAKER_00: Oh man.
- 26:05SPEAKER_04: And I was like, okay, yep, I know that these are going to be a big thing.
- 26:10SPEAKER_01: What a sweet soul.
- 26:13SPEAKER_01: These movies are awesome.
- 26:14SPEAKER_04: The worst movie.
- 26:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's like the two worst movies of the year.
- 26:18SPEAKER_04: And I think I went and saw Inception instead.
- 26:21SPEAKER_00: That's so funny.
- 26:22SPEAKER_01: That's kind of sweet.
- 26:25SPEAKER_01: I've also, you know, at the time I was like, I'm not going to see Jack and Jill.
- 26:28SPEAKER_01: This looks so crazy.
- 26:29SPEAKER_01: This looks so like it's like what he's making fun of in funny people.
- 26:32SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 26:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 26:35SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus, I didn't know because funny people right before this as well.
- 26:37SPEAKER_01: And he was so making fun of a movie like this.
- 26:39SPEAKER_01: And yeah, it was right before.
- 26:41SPEAKER_01: I remember that.
- 26:41SPEAKER_01: So I was like, I'm not going to go see that.
- 26:43SPEAKER_01: I'm like this, like I'm watching movies, I'm pretentious, I like the good stuff, you know, I like the Oscar movies or whatever.
- 26:48SPEAKER_01: And then as time has gone on, I've like softened to stuff that's like I I stopped hating immediately and instead try to focus on the stuff I really liked.
- 26:58SPEAKER_01: And that's, I think, the way I went into Jack and Jill.
- 27:01SPEAKER_01: And yeah, some jokes are gonna suck.
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: But some jokes are some jokes are really funny.
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: I I I forget which ones immediately, but Al Pacino's amazing in it.
- 27:09SPEAKER_04: Al Pacino is so good in this movie.
- 27:12SPEAKER_01: So funny.
- 27:14SPEAKER_04: He's the saving grace of this movie.
- 27:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he's great.
- 27:17SPEAKER_04: He's so committed to the role for no reason whatsoever.
- 27:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 27:21SPEAKER_04: Well, he just likes Adam Sandler.
- 27:24SPEAKER_04: It's so funny.
- 27:26SPEAKER_04: I wish he would do more comedy.
- 27:27SPEAKER_01: He was so good, yeah.
- 27:29SPEAKER_04: And it's one of the things it's because he hadn't been good in a long time as well.
- 27:32SPEAKER_04: And then he came and did the and then he did this, and I was like, why is this the movie he's good in?
- 27:39SPEAKER_04: You gotta have fun, I think.
- 27:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 27:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 27:41SPEAKER_01: He didn't have to hold a movie together.
- 27:42SPEAKER_01: He gotta just be the funny time person.
- 27:44SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 27:45SPEAKER_04: It's absolutely insane his character.
- 27:47SPEAKER_04: Playing himself.
- 27:50SPEAKER_04: So to explain the movie to anyone who hasn't seen it, it's the premise is Adam Sandler is playing the premise if there is one.
- 28:01SPEAKER_04: The premise, the premise, go on.
- 28:02SPEAKER_04: Adam Sandler is Jack and he is Jill.
- 28:05SPEAKER_04: They are They call themselves identical twins, but that's Oh no, they call themselves frat Is it fraternal twins?
- 28:13SPEAKER_04: I think they call themselves which is not a thing that you can be as uh one boy and one girl, apparently.
- 28:19SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 28:19SPEAKER_04: That's what the what the trivia I read on here was saying.
- 28:22SPEAKER_04: It's like you can't be you can't be called fraternal.
- 28:24SPEAKER_01: Or identical.
- 28:25SPEAKER_04: Or iden I don't I can't remember what it is.
- 28:27SPEAKER_04: It's like one of those.
- 28:28SPEAKER_04: Interesting.
- 28:29SPEAKER_04: But like yeah, they call themselves that, which is actually wrong.
- 28:35SPEAKER_01: Um maybe don't fact check this movie.
- 28:39SPEAKER_04: I'm talking about I'm looking at the IMDB trivia.
- 28:43SPEAKER_04: Um Fuck you, IMDB.
- 28:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 28:45SPEAKER_04: Basically they they Jill is a character that's very loud and annoying and he and Jack does not like stay like when she comes to stay.
- 28:56SPEAKER_04: She comes to stay, though, for is it Christmas?
- 29:00SPEAKER_04: Yes, Christmas.
- 29:01SPEAKER_04: Thanksgiving and then like stays through Christmas in New Year.
- 29:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:05SPEAKER_04: And it's just her annual visit.
- 29:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 29:08SPEAKER_04: It's literally just that.
- 29:10SPEAKER_01: But it's like post their mom dying.
- 29:12SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 29:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 29:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:13SPEAKER_04: I feel like they don't there's like moments they touch on it, but they really gloss over it.
- 29:17SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell Totally.
- 29:18SPEAKER_01: Because you're kind of in the perspective.
- 29:20SPEAKER_01: I think you're supposed to like Jack more than you do.
- 29:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 29:23SPEAKER_01: I think you're supposed to like think You're supposed to think she's so annoying that you understand Jack and then you grow to like her.
- 29:31SPEAKER_01: I kind of liked her immediately.
- 29:32SPEAKER_01: I was like, she's like, she can be a bit abrasive and loud and annoying, but she's also very sweet.
- 29:36SPEAKER_04: Aaron Ross Powell No, I was I found her annoying the whole time.
- 29:40SPEAKER_04: Jack got progressively worse to me.
- 29:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:43SPEAKER_04: I was like, you are just like horrendous.
- 29:46SPEAKER_01: You're a horrible person.
- 29:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 29:50SPEAKER_01: Norm MacDonald, funny in it?
- 29:52SPEAKER_04: Aaron Ross Powell Norm MacDonald is funny in it, yeah.
- 29:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:55SPEAKER_04: There are a couple of characters I want I want to bring up as well.
- 29:57SPEAKER_04: There's a couple of cameos in it.
- 30:01SPEAKER_04: So basically, like so your history with it is David Spade.
- 30:04SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 30:04SPEAKER_04: Oh god.
- 30:05SPEAKER_04: I wasn't going to talk about David.
- 30:06SPEAKER_04: Okay, okay, yeah, yeah.
- 30:08SPEAKER_04: Before we do that, because I I do want to keep drinking this, I do want to bring up that I brought Duncan with me today.
- 30:13SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 30:15SPEAKER_04: Because we have one Duncan.
- 30:17SPEAKER_04: Is that right?
- 30:18SPEAKER_04: Where?
- 30:18SPEAKER_04: It's like right down the street.
- 30:20SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna go there.
- 30:21SPEAKER_04: It's like it only it's only been there for a couple of months, and I was like, perfect.
- 30:24SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna get it now.
- 30:25SPEAKER_01: Fantastic.
- 30:26SPEAKER_01: Did you get a Duncino?
- 30:27SPEAKER_04: I didn't.
- 30:28SPEAKER_04: No.
- 30:28SPEAKER_04: Discontinued in twenty in 2023.
- 30:32SPEAKER_01: Bummer.
- 30:33SPEAKER_04: They stopped doing it then.
- 30:34SPEAKER_01: Bummer.
- 30:35SPEAKER_01: Just when it was about to have a resurgence after this podcast.
- 30:39SPEAKER_04: So I do want to bring that up initially.
- 30:41SPEAKER_04: Like Al Pacino.
- 30:43SPEAKER_04: He's playing himself.
- 30:44SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 30:45SPEAKER_04: And but he's playing like an insane version of himself.
- 30:48SPEAKER_04: And it's basically so Adam Sandler's character, Jack, is this ad executive.
- 30:56SPEAKER_04: Director.
- 30:57SPEAKER_04: And he needs to get him to film a Dunkin' Donuts ad.
- 31:02SPEAKER_04: And what he ends up getting him to do is film for the Dunkacino, which doesn't work.
- 31:09SPEAKER_04: Because he says, are you Al Pacino?
- 31:12SPEAKER_04: He goes, no, my new name is Dunk.
- 31:14SPEAKER_04: Which doesn't work as then it'd be Dunk Pacino.
- 31:21SPEAKER_04: He goes, Oh, call me Dunk, Duncuccino.
- 31:26SPEAKER_04: It's so bad, but it's so funny.
- 31:29SPEAKER_04: And the dance he does.
- 31:31SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's like if you take that, like people took that clip at the end of the movie where he's doing the commercial finally.
- 31:38SPEAKER_01: And they put it online and it's like, oh yeah, look how bad it is.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: Can you believe Al Pacino is doing that?
- 31:42SPEAKER_01: But it's like the joke is that it's so absurd.
- 31:46SPEAKER_01: And then the end tag after that is Al Pacino saying, burn it.
- 31:51SPEAKER_01: It's like that.
- 31:52SPEAKER_01: It's funny with it.
- 31:53SPEAKER_01: That is funny.
- 31:54SPEAKER_04: I think everything he does, everything around him is funny.
- 31:57SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 31:57SPEAKER_04: I can give you that.
- 32:00SPEAKER_01: That is maybe my that is my favorite part.
- 32:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think that would be very funny stuff.
- 32:05SPEAKER_04: Would you also like a donut?
- 32:07SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, I would actually.
- 32:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 32:08SPEAKER_04: So we have to put yourself to whichever one you want.
- 32:13SPEAKER_01: Which one do you want?
- 32:14SPEAKER_04: Oh I'm I'm easy going, but we have.
- 32:16SPEAKER_04: So I'm gonna show the camera what we have.
- 32:19SPEAKER_01: Please do, yeah, yeah.
- 32:21SPEAKER_04: So if you can see, we have an I love Jan.
- 32:24SPEAKER_04: I thought, why not get that?
- 32:26SPEAKER_04: We have one that looks like uh the cookie monster, and then we have one with a smiley face.
- 32:32SPEAKER_01: I want I want the cookie monster when I'm gonna do it.
- 32:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 32:35SPEAKER_01: Because it comes with a free Oreo.
- 32:38SPEAKER_01: Hell yeah.
- 32:39SPEAKER_04: I will go for I Love Jan.
- 32:40SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 32:43SPEAKER_04: I'm pretty sure they do this.
- 32:45SPEAKER_04: I'm pretty sure they had one for I Love October and I I Love November.
- 32:50SPEAKER_04: They just Yeah, I'm like, why?
- 32:53SPEAKER_01: Um it's January, I should get this.
- 32:56SPEAKER_01: I mean it worked for you, I guess.
- 32:58SPEAKER_04: Well my name is Yanis, which is people call me Yan sometimes.
- 33:04SPEAKER_02: Uh okay if I eat directly into the microphone.
- 33:08SPEAKER_04: Go for it.
- 33:08SPEAKER_04: I I insist you in eat directly into the microphone.
- 33:16SPEAKER_04: Doing some ASMR.
- 33:19SPEAKER_04: Um casting.
- 33:23SPEAKER_04: Uh okay.
- 33:26SPEAKER_04: So yeah, it came out in 2011, but you didn't see it until October last year.
- 33:32SPEAKER_04: And it aged like a fine wine.
- 33:35SPEAKER_04: Okay, let's talk about some of the things that didn't age very much the cameos.
- 33:41SPEAKER_01: Which ones?
- 33:41SPEAKER_01: I forget.
- 33:42SPEAKER_04: Okay, so Jared from Subway.
- 33:49SPEAKER_00: As himself.
- 33:51SPEAKER_00: I totally forgot.
- 33:52SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 33:52SPEAKER_00: I forgot.
- 33:53SPEAKER_04: I forgot until last night.
- 33:54SPEAKER_04: I was like, holy shit.
- 33:57SPEAKER_02: So I guess you also see why I just thought I was laughing the whole time about this movie, but didn't always have to be because the movie was named.
- 34:05SPEAKER_04: So there's Jared from somewhere, and then there's Caitlin Jenner.
- 34:08SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 34:10SPEAKER_04: Back when she was Bruce.
- 34:12SPEAKER_04: With Al Pacino on stage.
- 34:17SPEAKER_00: No lines.
- 34:20SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 34:22SPEAKER_04: Crazy.
- 34:23SPEAKER_04: I forgot about all this.
- 34:24SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 34:25SPEAKER_04: And then David Spade as well as a woman.
- 34:28SPEAKER_01: David Spade's one I don't know about.
- 34:30SPEAKER_01: I don't know why.
- 34:31SPEAKER_01: I'm like, Adam Sandler is Jill.
- 34:33SPEAKER_01: I'm like, cool.
- 34:33SPEAKER_01: David Spade, I don't know.
- 34:35SPEAKER_01: I don't like that one.
- 34:36SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus, it's something a bit off about that.
- 34:37SPEAKER_01: There's something freaky about that one, yeah.
- 34:40SPEAKER_01: Adam Sandler, I thought, was a pretty lady.
- 34:42SPEAKER_01: Like, oh look, look, look at the Sandman.
- 34:45SPEAKER_01: Sandman cleans up nice.
- 34:47SPEAKER_01: But yeah, I guess it's just a throwback to the Gap Girls sketch.
- 34:51SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 34:53SPEAKER_01: I didn't even think about that.
- 34:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 34:56SPEAKER_01: And if they had, you know, R.I.P.
- 34:58SPEAKER_01: Chris Farley, but we would have had another awesome cameo.
- 35:03SPEAKER_04: Could have got Kevin James.
- 35:08SPEAKER_04: He is clearly the replacement in grownups for the yeah.
- 35:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 35:15SPEAKER_04: I'm trying to see who else is in it.
- 35:19SPEAKER_04: Tim Meadows is in it.
- 35:21SPEAKER_04: Nick Swartz.
- 35:25SPEAKER_04: Just the usual group of people.
- 35:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:27SPEAKER_04: Dana Carvey's in it.
- 35:28SPEAKER_02: As who?
- 35:30SPEAKER_04: He's the puppet guy at the start.
- 35:32SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 35:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:34SPEAKER_04: And apparently it was his first movie since The Master of Disguise.
- 35:39SPEAKER_04: That's the first time he'd been in anything since the Master of Disguise.
- 35:44SPEAKER_02: Tweety hasn't been in more since.
- 35:48SPEAKER_04: It's like, yeah, I'll come back after ten years of being away and I'll do a cameo in this.
- 35:57SPEAKER_04: Oh Johnny Depp's in this as well.
- 35:59SPEAKER_02: Oh so you see me and my girlfriend were laughing for like so many reasons.
- 36:06SPEAKER_04: So this is the this has this has the record at the Razzies for the first movie to win the Razzie in every category.
- 36:15SPEAKER_01: Whoa.
- 36:16SPEAKER_01: What were the other nominations, do you know?
- 36:18SPEAKER_01: Uh because that also just feels like at a certain point it's it feels targeted.
- 36:23SPEAKER_04: It is definitely targeted.
- 36:31SPEAKER_04: Actress Sandler is Jill.
- 36:32SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 36:33SPEAKER_04: Supporting actor Al Pacino, which doesn't seem fair.
- 36:36SPEAKER_01: That's i that's absurd.
- 36:37SPEAKER_01: See, that's like that doesn't make any sense.
- 36:39SPEAKER_04: Here's one I agree with.
- 36:40SPEAKER_04: Supporting actress David Spade is Monica.
- 36:43SPEAKER_01: Okay, fair.
- 36:45SPEAKER_01: And I love David Spade.
- 36:46SPEAKER_01: But that one I don't know.
- 36:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's like that might that's one of his worst performances.
- 36:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 36:50SPEAKER_04: Uh and then we've got uh worst screen couple, Sandler and Katie Holmes, or Pacino and Sandler.
- 36:58SPEAKER_01: Doesn't make sense.
- 36:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 37:00SPEAKER_04: Worst prequel.
- 37:01SPEAKER_01: What?
- 37:03SPEAKER_04: Oh worst, sorry, worst prequel, remake, ripoff, or sequel.
- 37:06SPEAKER_04: And it counts as a remake or ripoff of Glenn or Glenda.
- 37:10SPEAKER_04: That's a stretch.
- 37:11SPEAKER_04: That's a huge stretch.
- 37:12SPEAKER_04: Screenplay and then screen ensemble.
- 37:16SPEAKER_04: Ten awards.
- 37:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 37:18SPEAKER_01: See, so it like came out at this time where people were like, Yeah, that's a real stretch.
- 37:22SPEAKER_01: It didn't deserve all of that.
- 37:23SPEAKER_01: Definitely not.
- 37:24SPEAKER_01: And I'd be curious to see what the other nominations were.
- 37:26SPEAKER_01: Let me try and find that.
- 37:27SPEAKER_01: As far as like you know, who else they were going after.
- 37:33SPEAKER_01: It's the same thing that they uh uh you know, like Sandra Bullock getting nominated for at the same time she gets an Oscar.
- 37:39SPEAKER_01: You know, like it's all it all feeds into this idea that we should hate this.
- 37:45SPEAKER_01: More than I think that we actually should, but I don't know.
- 37:49SPEAKER_04: Do you know who he who he was up against?
- 37:51SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 37:51SPEAKER_01: Who is he?
- 37:52SPEAKER_01: Taylor Nortner.
- 37:54SPEAKER_04: For what movie?
- 37:56SPEAKER_04: Abduction and Twilight.
- 37:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 37:58SPEAKER_04: Oh, and Twilight.
- 37:59SPEAKER_04: Breaking Dawn.
- 38:00SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 38:00SPEAKER_01: That's why they work together again.
- 38:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Bucky Larson, New Year's Eve, Transformers Darker the Moon and Twilight.
- 38:08SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 38:09SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 38:13SPEAKER_04: He was also up against Nick Swarton.
- 38:15SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 38:16SPEAKER_04: He was up against Martin Lawrence for Big Mama's house like Father Like Son.
- 38:20SPEAKER_04: So interesting.
- 38:22SPEAKER_04: And Sarah Palin has herself in undefeated.
- 38:29SPEAKER_04: I don't know what that is.
- 38:30SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 38:30SPEAKER_04: It's probably some documentary.
- 38:32SPEAKER_01: Oh, yes, yes.
- 38:33SPEAKER_04: No idea.
- 38:35SPEAKER_04: Uh all right, so nightmare.
- 38:43SPEAKER_04: I liked it, thank you.
- 38:45SPEAKER_04: Alright.
- 38:47SPEAKER_04: Let's see what I've got to talk about here.
- 38:49SPEAKER_04: We've got Oh.
- 38:51SPEAKER_04: So you said you hated the weird twins opening thing.
- 38:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 38:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 38:54SPEAKER_01: I don't like that.
- 38:55SPEAKER_04: Then it c then it goes to and then it cuts to the ad that he's directing, and it's there's when you see the puppet.
- 39:01SPEAKER_04: Uh but it's he's directing a uh diarrhea commercial for Regis Millman.
- 39:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:11SPEAKER_04: That's pretty funny.
- 39:14SPEAKER_05: What is it?
- 39:15SPEAKER_01: Regis is, you know, dead now.
- 39:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 39:18SPEAKER_04: Another cameo as well.
- 39:19SPEAKER_01: That's pretty funny.
- 39:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 39:21SPEAKER_04: It's pretty funny that he Wait, was he dead when you seen it?
- 39:24SPEAKER_04: I can't remember when he died.
- 39:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 39:26SPEAKER_01: I think he died.
- 39:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he was already dead.
- 39:29SPEAKER_01: He's dead, right?
- 39:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's definitely dead.
- 39:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 39:31SPEAKER_04: He's not really a th he's not known here, really.
- 39:34SPEAKER_01: So like I just yeah.
- 39:37SPEAKER_04: I only know of him through like stuff like this where he does things like Sure, sure.
- 39:41SPEAKER_04: And then like how I met your mother or something where he'll show up and Millionaire?
- 39:46SPEAKER_01: You didn't watch the US Millionaire since you had your own already?
- 39:50SPEAKER_04: No, I did not.
- 39:52SPEAKER_04: I know Steve Harvey hosted it at one point.
- 39:55SPEAKER_04: Did he?
- 39:56SPEAKER_04: Didn't he?
- 39:56SPEAKER_01: No, he does Family Feud.
- 39:58SPEAKER_04: I'm sure Steve Harvey hosted it because it's definitely a sketch with Keenan as Steve Harvey hosting it.
- 40:04SPEAKER_01: Maybe he just did that as a sketch.
- 40:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it could be.
- 40:07SPEAKER_01: Maybe he did.
- 40:08SPEAKER_04: I don't remember that though.
- 40:11SPEAKER_04: But I I said like I wrote down this is such clear advertising of Pepto Bismol.
- 40:16SPEAKER_04: It's so obvious.
- 40:17SPEAKER_04: Like the amount of time the amount of advertising in this movie is ridiculous.
- 40:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, like what?
- 40:21SPEAKER_04: There's so many different things.
- 40:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 40:23SPEAKER_04: Duncan.
- 40:26SPEAKER_04: Also, look, do you know how much take a guess how much Adam Sandler was paid for this movie?
- 40:31SPEAKER_00: A million dollars.
- 40:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah, a million.
- 40:34SPEAKER_04: 20 million.
- 40:35SPEAKER_04: Whoa.
- 40:37SPEAKER_04: Good for him.
- 40:38SPEAKER_04: Actually, I don't even know how much it made.
- 40:40SPEAKER_04: What did it make?
- 40:42SPEAKER_04: Do you think it made a profit?
- 40:43SPEAKER_01: I think it did.
- 40:44SPEAKER_04: Actually, his film, yeah, he always makes a profit.
- 40:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 40:48SPEAKER_01: I think it did despite the bad reviews, if I had to guess.
- 40:51SPEAKER_04: The budget was$79 million, and it grows to$149 million worldwide.
- 40:56SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 40:56SPEAKER_04: Wow, great.
- 40:56SPEAKER_04: So it did, yeah.
- 40:57SPEAKER_04: It was almost profitable.
- 41:03SPEAKER_04: Pretty good.
- 41:04SPEAKER_04: Although it probably made it all through promotions and advertising.
- 41:07SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 41:08SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 41:10SPEAKER_00: That's crazy that it's 79 million is a lot for a movie.
- 41:15SPEAKER_04: Why in this movie costs 79 million?
- 41:17SPEAKER_00: I think some Marvel movies cost like 100 million.
- 41:24SPEAKER_04: I'm sure, yeah, yeah.
- 41:25SPEAKER_04: Have you heard the rumour about So Casey Holmes in this actually?
- 41:28SPEAKER_04: I want to talk about her because she's like not really in it.
- 41:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, totally.
- 41:32SPEAKER_04: And she doesn't really have much to do.
- 41:33SPEAKER_04: Have you heard the rumour about why she's in it?
- 41:36SPEAKER_04: No.
- 41:36SPEAKER_04: So there's a like there's like a conspiracy theory around this at the time of like So they say like this was a this was the time when she was filing for divorce from Tom Cruise.
- 41:46SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 41:46SPEAKER_04: And they say that she did like that he cast her in this movie so that she would have an alibi for like actually going in, like getting away from him and like signing and like being able to focus on that.
- 41:57SPEAKER_04: Whoa.
- 41:58SPEAKER_04: Because it hadn't actually come out at that time that she was filing for divorce, but.
- 42:02SPEAKER_04: Interesting.
- 42:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 42:03SPEAKER_01: So like And it kind of makes sense.
- 42:05SPEAKER_01: So she did that or the movie.
- 42:07SPEAKER_04: No, they say that they said Sandler did cast her in it to do that.
- 42:10SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 42:11SPEAKER_04: Because apparently he's done that before with other people as well.
- 42:14SPEAKER_04: Like who?
- 42:16SPEAKER_04: Interesting.
- 42:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:17SPEAKER_01: To get the specifically out of Scientology or I don't know.
- 42:23SPEAKER_04: Abusive relationships or something?
- 42:25SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 42:29SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus, yeah.
- 42:29SPEAKER_04: I want to believe it because yeah.
- 42:31SPEAKER_04: He seems like a good guy.
- 42:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think so.
- 42:33SPEAKER_04: I hope so.
- 42:34SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 42:34SPEAKER_01: You never met him.
- 42:36SPEAKER_01: No.
- 42:45SPEAKER_01: I was just talking with my friend by the stairs, uh where you know Adam Sandler's like passing by saying bye to everybody.
- 42:52SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 42:54SPEAKER_01: Oh, right.
- 42:55SPEAKER_01: He was like saying bye to the people who he was like working with.
- 42:57SPEAKER_01: I don't know why.
- 42:58SPEAKER_01: But I just went in to shake his hand.
- 43:01SPEAKER_01: I was like, hey, great work this week, man.
- 43:04SPEAKER_01: He was like he looked confused.
- 43:05SPEAKER_01: He's like, uh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 43:07SPEAKER_01: Thanks, man.
- 43:08SPEAKER_01: Thanks.
- 43:08SPEAKER_01: Like he was like, oh no, I remember, yeah, we did something together.
- 43:13SPEAKER_01: Anyway, I felt embarrassed about that.
- 43:14SPEAKER_01: So that was that was the one he hosted then.
- 43:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, whenever he hosted it.
- 43:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, whenever he hosted it.
- 43:18SPEAKER_01: Oh, nice.
- 43:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 43:20SPEAKER_04: Oh, cool.
- 43:21SPEAKER_04: Who are you friends with there?
- 43:22SPEAKER_04: Or are you not outside?
- 43:23SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus, Jr.: I have a bunch of friends there.
- 43:25SPEAKER_01: I was with my friend Andrew Dizmux there.
- 43:27SPEAKER_01: Oh, nice.
- 43:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 43:31SPEAKER_04: That would make sense.
- 43:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so you don't really haven't really said much of him other than good job.
- 43:43SPEAKER_04: I mean that would count out as meeting him.
- 43:47SPEAKER_04: But yeah, so you would you work with him?
- 43:51SPEAKER_01: Of course.
- 43:52SPEAKER_01: I would love to.
- 43:54SPEAKER_01: Would you Jack and Jill too?
- 43:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, would you make Jack and Jill too?
- 43:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 43:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, of course.
- 44:01SPEAKER_01: Oh, and you got and you got Latino representation in the movie.
- 44:04SPEAKER_01: I totally forgot about that.
- 44:06SPEAKER_01: Oh god, that's so bad.
- 44:08SPEAKER_00: That's so offensive.
- 44:11SPEAKER_00: As a Latino.
- 44:14SPEAKER_01: I loved it.
- 44:17SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's literally like how my like I I can see all of my family loving that.
- 44:21SPEAKER_01: I can see all of my family loving that.
- 44:25SPEAKER_04: Isn't that I don't know that guy super well, but like isn't he a bigger thing?
- 44:29SPEAKER_01: Star in Mexico, yeah.
- 44:30SPEAKER_01: He's like the um as my family describes him as the w the Will Ferrell of Mexico.
- 44:35SPEAKER_04: Holy shit.
- 44:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 44:36SPEAKER_01: Or like the Adam Sandler of Mexico, I guess.
- 44:38SPEAKER_04: Well, I guess that makes sense why he's in this then.
- 44:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 44:41SPEAKER_01: He's huge.
- 44:43SPEAKER_04: He's so bad in it.
- 44:45SPEAKER_00: His wig is weird.
- 44:47SPEAKER_00: I don't know how they gave him that wig.
- 44:49SPEAKER_04: Eugenio Eugenio.
- 44:50SPEAKER_04: Eugenio.
- 44:51SPEAKER_04: Eugenio Dervez?
- 45:00SPEAKER_01: No, I mean it's uh my mom had to tell me how to pronounce it when I first had a meeting.
- 45:04SPEAKER_04: Uh yeah, so he's he's he plays the the gardener, Felipe.
- 45:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 45:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 45:09SPEAKER_01: The real love interest.
- 45:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, the actual love interest in the end.
- 45:12SPEAKER_04: Like so so it starts with like Al Pacino is obsessed with Jill.
- 45:20SPEAKER_04: The only person to be obsessed with Jill.
- 45:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 45:22SPEAKER_04: And there's no real reason behind it other than that that they both grew up in Queens.
- 45:36SPEAKER_04: And he uh I don't know why.
- 45:40SPEAKER_04: He grows up in yeah he just becomes obsessed with her and he I don't know.
- 45:49SPEAKER_04: He just he wants to be with her, but she she does not like him.
- 45:52SPEAKER_02: She just isn't into him.
- 45:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 45:55SPEAKER_04: But she she really wants someone.
- 45:57SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 45:58SPEAKER_04: And she like wants anyone, basically.
- 45:59SPEAKER_04: Like the whole idea is that she wants anyone.
- 46:01SPEAKER_04: And then the second Alpacino wants her.
- 46:03SPEAKER_04: She doesn't want him.
- 46:04SPEAKER_01: Well, sure.
- 46:04SPEAKER_01: Uh well she wants she wants someone.
- 46:06SPEAKER_01: It's not that she wants anyone, it's that she wants someone.
- 46:08SPEAKER_01: The way they make it.
- 46:09SPEAKER_01: Nobody's presenting themselves.
- 46:10SPEAKER_04: The way they make it is that she wants some anyone.
- 46:12SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell Kinda.
- 46:12SPEAKER_01: Well, it's like, yeah, like her bar is probably really low, but then she talks to this guy and just doesn't have that connection.
- 46:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 46:19SPEAKER_01: Which is fair.
- 46:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 46:20SPEAKER_01: It's funny, it's weird.
- 46:22SPEAKER_01: You know, why would it be somebody who is obsessed with you and is this famous movie star?
- 46:25SPEAKER_01: But that's you know, part of the comedy.
- 46:27SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 46:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's good.
- 46:28SPEAKER_04: It's funny.
- 46:29SPEAKER_04: I do like it.
- 46:31SPEAKER_04: I wish there was more of that stuff in it.
- 46:34SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 46:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 46:35SPEAKER_04: As opposed to like I don't find the dynamic between Jack and Jill very interesting.
- 46:40SPEAKER_01: Aaron Powell I find it just sad.
- 46:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 46:43SPEAKER_01: Me and my girlfriend Eliza were just like he's so mean to his sister.
- 46:47SPEAKER_01: She's just trying to, you know.
- 46:48SPEAKER_01: She's she's a sad lonely woman.
- 46:50SPEAKER_01: Like and he's like being a total dick.
- 46:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 46:52SPEAKER_04: And like also he's so rich in this movie.
- 46:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 46:56SPEAKER_04: Like that house is so nice.
- 46:57SPEAKER_04: Such a nice house.
- 46:59SPEAKER_04: But I feel like every movie that's the other thing about Sandler movies, it's like he always has a really nice house.
- 47:04SPEAKER_04: He always has like the hottest wife and and then it and then he's just a dick in every movie.
- 47:12SPEAKER_01: We rewatched Click.
- 47:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 47:15SPEAKER_01: Have you seen Click anytime recently?
- 47:16SPEAKER_01: I love Click.
- 47:17SPEAKER_01: I love Click.
- 47:19SPEAKER_01: Re-watching it, it's less funny than you remember.
- 47:22SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, I don't remember it being that funny.
- 47:23SPEAKER_01: I or uh then okay, then it's how you remember.
- 47:27SPEAKER_01: Less funny than I remember.
- 47:28SPEAKER_01: And also just like he's he's a he's a dick in that one.
- 47:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he is a dick in it.
- 47:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 47:34SPEAKER_04: It's very sad.
- 47:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it is quite a sad movie also.
- 47:37SPEAKER_01: Which I didn't realize.
- 47:38SPEAKER_01: But at the time I watched it, I was like, I mean, I loved it.
- 47:40SPEAKER_01: I saw it in theaters.
- 47:41SPEAKER_04: So did I, yeah.
- 47:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 47:42SPEAKER_04: I used to like that was kind of I think that might have been the last Sandler movie I saw in theaters.
- 47:49SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 47:50SPEAKER_01: You didn't see funny people in theaters?
- 47:52SPEAKER_04: No.
- 47:52SPEAKER_04: I loved funny people in the street.
- 47:54SPEAKER_04: I should have seen funny people in it.
- 47:56SPEAKER_04: I mean, I love Adam Sandler and Seth Rogan.
- 48:00SPEAKER_04: There was some reason.
- 48:01SPEAKER_04: Especially at that time.
- 48:02SPEAKER_04: That might have been when that might have been during my time going to over to New York, and then I just didn't have time to go.
- 48:10SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 48:10SPEAKER_04: I think it came out around that time.
- 48:12SPEAKER_04: I get that, yeah.
- 48:13SPEAKER_04: Um Yeah, but it's like I do like funny people as well.
- 48:16SPEAKER_04: It's a good movie.
- 48:17SPEAKER_04: Me too.
- 48:18SPEAKER_04: Um that's something I should go back and watch.
- 48:20SPEAKER_04: Thinking about it.
- 48:21SPEAKER_04: I haven't seen it in a long time.
- 48:22SPEAKER_01: I might do a rewatch of it too, yeah, yeah.
- 48:24SPEAKER_01: It's it it was inspiring.
- 48:25SPEAKER_01: I mean it was just the per it was like all of my comedy heroes making a movie about stand-up comedy when I was like starting out doing stand-up.
- 48:31SPEAKER_04: Oh, is that when you started as well?
- 48:32SPEAKER_04: Basically, yeah, yeah, more or less.
- 48:34SPEAKER_04: Nice.
- 48:34SPEAKER_01: I'd been obsessed with it.
- 48:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 48:36SPEAKER_04: Cool.
- 48:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 48:37SPEAKER_04: It's w it's we it's weird seeing Standler do stand-up as well, isn't it?
- 48:41SPEAKER_04: Like 'cause like you don't think of him as as a stand-up comedian, really.
- 48:44SPEAKER_01: Well, at that time you didn't.
- 48:46SPEAKER_04: Now you kinda do.
- 48:47SPEAKER_04: Now you do.
- 48:48SPEAKER_01: Well, he has a Netflix special out, 100% fresh.
- 48:50SPEAKER_01: So it's like yeah.
- 48:51SPEAKER_04: I still don't think of it as stand-up, though, in my head.
- 48:53SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 48:54SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 48:55SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 48:56SPEAKER_04: Like, obviously it is.
- 48:57SPEAKER_01: My dad my dad did not like that special.
- 48:59SPEAKER_01: He's a big Sandler fan.
- 49:00SPEAKER_01: He loved he loved the grown-ups movies.
- 49:02SPEAKER_01: He's like, he loves Sandler.
- 49:03SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 49:04SPEAKER_01: Um but I think it's a great special.
- 49:11SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 49:11SPEAKER_01: So he likes and he was he's talking about how much he loves Dave Chappelle now?
- 49:15SPEAKER_01: Like, oh no.
- 49:17SPEAKER_01: You know, Dave Chappelle is now doing comedy for old men.
- 49:19SPEAKER_01: It's like my dad, you know, it's like it's aimed at my dad.
- 49:22SPEAKER_04: What does your dad think of your stuff then?
- 49:24SPEAKER_01: Um I don't know.
- 49:26SPEAKER_01: He likes some I mean, I haven't he hasn't seen my show, My Hour.
- 49:29SPEAKER_04: Aaron Ross Powell Because you there's a lot of stuff in there that's like Chappelle targeted almost.
- 49:33SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus Well, hey, come on.
- 49:35SPEAKER_04: Um, in a good in a way that I really enjoyed.
- 49:39SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus Right.
- 49:40SPEAKER_01: So thank you.
- 49:40SPEAKER_01: But uh no, I mean it's uh I wonder what he will think about my hour when it comes out.
- 49:46SPEAKER_01: And he's seen pieces.
- 49:47SPEAKER_01: He he likes the stuff that has come out.
- 49:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, all the online stuff.
- 49:50SPEAKER_01: By the time stuff gets um synthesized through whatever is presented to him, since he's not like going to my shows and stuff, he's in Brownsville, Texas, you know.
- 49:58SPEAKER_01: But uh it it's kind of at the point where he can my family can get it, which I was always worried about early on.
- 50:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 50:17SPEAKER_01: And the response to that was wonderful.
- 50:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was great.
- 50:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 50:21SPEAKER_01: So especially from people back home.
- 50:23SPEAKER_01: And they like they point out jokes that I'm like, oh, those are like kind of like my easier ones.
- 50:26SPEAKER_01: But like the fact that you like like them and are interested and are like quoting them back is so nice.
- 50:31SPEAKER_01: And it's so you know, so I think there's something there.
- 50:34SPEAKER_01: But his one of his favorites is is Chappelle's stuff.
- 50:37SPEAKER_01: I mean, he's he just I don't know why he's just really gotten into a rabbit hole with he's never talked about Dave Chappelle.
- 50:42SPEAKER_01: I think I introduced stand-up more to my family than like they would have thought about it otherwise.
- 50:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 50:49SPEAKER_01: Like I showed them Louis C.K.
- 50:51SPEAKER_01: recently.
- 50:52SPEAKER_01: No.
- 50:53SPEAKER_01: Like back like years ago when I was first starting out, I'm like, this guy's really funny.
- 50:56SPEAKER_01: And they're like, yeah, he is really funny.
- 50:58SPEAKER_01: So and then that kind of like started.
- 50:59SPEAKER_01: They they always liked Chris Rock and George Lopez.
- 51:02SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 51:02SPEAKER_01: Those are like they're like, oh, we that's the stand-up we watch.
- 51:04SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus, Jr.: That's that's kind of strange because that that's Chris Rock was always someone that my dad liked as well.
- 51:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 51:09SPEAKER_04: And then like he's not into Chappelle.
- 51:12SPEAKER_04: He was never into Chappelle, really.
- 51:13SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 51:13SPEAKER_04: Interesting.
- 51:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, my dad uh had never expressed uh, you know, but I mean I guess where else Chappelle on.
- 51:20SPEAKER_01: He didn't watch like Comedy Central or whatever.
- 51:21SPEAKER_01: So now that Netflix makes it readily available.
- 51:24SPEAKER_01: But anyway, all this to say he did not like Adam Sandler's special, which I loved, and I have listened to the album of, you know, I'm like, I just like loved it so much.
- 51:34SPEAKER_04: It was great.
- 51:35SPEAKER_01: I consider it stand-up.
- 51:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 51:37SPEAKER_04: I mean it is stand-up.
- 51:42SPEAKER_04: Interesting.
- 51:43SPEAKER_04: I think it's just because it's him.
- 51:45SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 51:46SPEAKER_04: It's really strange.
- 51:46SPEAKER_04: It's just like weird preconception.
- 51:49SPEAKER_04: But I have yeah.
- 51:50SPEAKER_01: But it was exciting to see funny people and be like, oh look, Adam this is a comedy star, he's doing stand-up.
- 51:55SPEAKER_01: And then all the interviews them being like, yeah, he used to be a big stand-up.
- 51:59SPEAKER_01: Like he loved doing stand-up.
- 52:01SPEAKER_04: That's how he started, isn't it?
- 52:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 52:04SPEAKER_04: And then uh Yeah, so then yeah, so after funny people, what was it?
- 52:08SPEAKER_04: Is it yeah, I think he just went into grown-ups and then I think Jack and Jill was right after, no?
- 52:12SPEAKER_04: Was it?
- 52:13SPEAKER_01: Oh wait, grown ups was 2010, I think.
- 52:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 52:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was funny people and then grown-ups and then Jack and Jill.
- 52:18SPEAKER_04: So it's like really stretching it there.
- 52:23SPEAKER_04: Let me actually see.
- 52:24SPEAKER_01: I want to s I want to see what he uh And then that Netflix deal really kind of changed a lot, and then Uncut Gems has changed even more.
- 52:33SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 52:33SPEAKER_01: It's what what a fascinating career he's had.
- 52:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 52:36SPEAKER_01: I mean, kind of the dream career, even though like I'm sure I'm sure it hurt his feel I mean, and he seems to express it, it hurt his feelings to get all these Razzies and these zero percent.
- 52:44SPEAKER_01: That's why he called his special one hundred percent fresh.
- 52:46SPEAKER_01: But still just looking at it, you're like, I mean now he's at the point where all of the people who grew up on him are adults who are reviewing his stuff and wanting to work with him.
- 52:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 52:59SPEAKER_01: You know, but he would just caught that little dead zone of people who were just like annoyed that he was like the breakout star on SNL or getting there, like jabs in.
- 53:08SPEAKER_04: I like I'm just looking at the stuff he made around so like his mid-90s to like mid-2000s.
- 53:17SPEAKER_04: It's just like it's so good.
- 53:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 53:19SPEAKER_04: Like the run he had there.
- 53:21SPEAKER_04: Like to meet.
- 53:26SPEAKER_01: Anger management, Waterboy.
- 53:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Big Daddy.
- 53:28SPEAKER_01: Wait, Anger Management might have been towards the end.
- 53:30SPEAKER_01: Big Daddy, are you kidding me?
- 53:31SPEAKER_01: Big Daddy?
- 53:32SPEAKER_01: Get out of town with that.
- 53:34SPEAKER_04: Fifty First Dates.
- 53:35SPEAKER_04: Fifty first days.
- 53:36SPEAKER_04: Longest yards.
- 53:37SPEAKER_01: Wedding singer.
- 53:38SPEAKER_04: Wedding singer, yeah.
- 53:39unknown: Man.
- 53:40SPEAKER_04: And then up to click Yeah, click Rain Over Me.
- 53:44SPEAKER_04: Rain Over Me was the lot weirdly the last one I saw.
- 53:46SPEAKER_04: Oh wow.
- 53:47SPEAKER_04: Not even really a Sandler movie.
- 53:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 53:51SPEAKER_00: It's fun when he just like goes, steps out, and does that rain rain over movie.
- 53:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 53:56SPEAKER_04: Uh and then he went into after Rain Over Me was I now presently Chuck and Larry.
- 54:01SPEAKER_04: Oh, okay.
- 54:02SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 54:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 54:03SPEAKER_04: That would explain why I didn't see.
- 54:04SPEAKER_04: And then Zohan.
- 54:05SPEAKER_04: You don't miss with the Zohan.
- 54:06SPEAKER_01: I watched that one in theaters.
- 54:07SPEAKER_01: No.
- 54:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 54:08SPEAKER_01: I honestly want to give it a rewatch, but I didn't I didn't love it when I watched it.
- 54:12SPEAKER_01: And I was young.
- 54:14SPEAKER_04: So you did Chuck and Larry, Zohan, and then Funny People.
- 54:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 54:17SPEAKER_01: So Interesting.
- 54:18SPEAKER_04: That explain that would explain it for me.
- 54:20SPEAKER_04: Uh God.
- 54:23SPEAKER_04: And then he went on just a run of just bad movies.
- 54:27SPEAKER_00: What do we got?
- 54:28SPEAKER_00: What do we got?
- 54:29SPEAKER_04: We got uh Grown-Ups, Just Go With It.
- 54:32SPEAKER_04: Jack and Jill.
- 54:33SPEAKER_01: I never saw Just Go With It.
- 54:35SPEAKER_04: Emily Wilson uh defended it on here.
- 54:38SPEAKER_01: Is that right?
- 54:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 54:38SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 54:39SPEAKER_01: And what did you think?
- 54:40SPEAKER_04: It was it was fine.
- 54:41SPEAKER_04: It was just like it was one of the like mm middle of the road ones for it wasn't like it was it was nowhere near as bad as like grown-ups or the reason I missed it is because it was a time period where everybody's hating on Adam Sandler, so it's like, oh I'm not I I shouldn't go see it.
- 54:54SPEAKER_04: I know because I was like it was the same year as Jack and Jill.
- 54:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 54:58SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 54:59SPEAKER_04: That's my boy.
- 55:01SPEAKER_04: That's my boy.
- 55:01SPEAKER_04: Well, yeah.
- 55:03SPEAKER_04: That didn't hold up immediately.
- 55:20SPEAKER_01: The cobbler and there was one other one you mentioned that weren't really Adam Sandler movies.
- 55:23SPEAKER_04: Blended?
- 55:24SPEAKER_01: No, before that.
- 55:24SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus That's my boy.
- 55:26SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus That's my boy wasn't exactly an Adam Sandler movie either.
- 55:28SPEAKER_04: Aaron Ross Powell I mean, yeah.
- 55:30SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus Yeah.
- 55:30SPEAKER_04: I think it was like somebody else.
- 55:31SPEAKER_01: He was like kind of attaching a little bit on with somebody else's.
- 55:36SPEAKER_04: It's not him writing your own.
- 55:37SPEAKER_01: It's not him down the middle.
- 55:38SPEAKER_01: It's a little step out, as is the other one with the cobbler.
- 55:44SPEAKER_01: Pixels is hard to watch.
- 55:46SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus, no.
- 55:47SPEAKER_04: I couldn't watch it.
- 55:48SPEAKER_04: And then it was kind of like stuff like that until Uncut Gems.
- 55:51SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 55:51SPEAKER_01: But you know, Pixels, and I think it's also a slight step out, although I'm sure it was a little bit more Sandman focused.
- 55:57SPEAKER_01: But that one, there were just things in it.
- 56:01SPEAKER_01: There's just things that I see that I'm like, this joke just seems like or i it's it's just staring at a a woman's breasts or whatever.
- 56:08SPEAKER_01: And it's like that's like okay.
- 56:10SPEAKER_01: When it just has so many of those, or so many just like, okay, this like weird incel character is like the hero of this that's what Pixels is about.
- 56:17SPEAKER_01: Like or this like these certain jokes in a certain way that just stack up, and I'm like, this movie is has all these and isn't that great.
- 56:25SPEAKER_01: But Jack and Jill, I feel like it didn't have a plethora of those types of jokes.
- 56:29SPEAKER_01: And so it's easier to see.
- 56:30SPEAKER_01: Like I'm like, the what this movie wants us to do is like this like weird woman, which I'm like, that's cool.
- 56:37SPEAKER_01: You know, it's like I think they're supposed you're supposed to like Jack a little bit more, at least empathize with Jack Moore, which I don't at all.
- 56:43SPEAKER_01: But the end, it's like, no, he's wrong.
- 56:45SPEAKER_04: You know, like Yeah, it definitely presents it as he's wrong, but it takes a long time to get there.
- 56:48SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus, Sure.
- 56:49SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 56:49SPEAKER_04: Although the movie is only 90 minutes.
- 56:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 56:53SPEAKER_04: And I did stop it.
- 56:54SPEAKER_04: I'm not exaggerating.
- 56:55SPEAKER_04: I stopped it four times last night.
- 56:57SPEAKER_04: I was like, I knew you'd break from this four times.
- 57:00SPEAKER_00: Man, me and my girlfriend were just laughing up the storm non-stop.
- 57:04SPEAKER_04: Have you only seen it once?
- 57:05SPEAKER_01: Only the one time.
- 57:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 57:07SPEAKER_01: Only the one time.
- 57:08SPEAKER_04: This is the only the second time I've seen it.
- 57:10SPEAKER_04: I'm pretty sure I will never watch it again.
- 57:13SPEAKER_04: I'm sure you thought that last time, too.
- 57:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I did think that last time.
- 57:15SPEAKER_04: No, actually, you know, you know what?
- 57:17SPEAKER_04: I didn't think it last time because I I had a feeling someone was eventually going to pick it one day.
- 57:22SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 57:23SPEAKER_04: There you go.
- 57:24SPEAKER_04: I do like that you it was this or Jingle All the Way.
- 57:28SPEAKER_04: Well, I actually I've wanted people to do for so long, but the only reason I said this is because it's January.
- 57:34SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 57:34SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 57:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's why I kind of pit picked uh two.
- 57:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, pitched two.
- 57:39SPEAKER_04: I love Jingle All the Way.
- 57:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 57:40SPEAKER_01: It's really good.
- 57:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 57:41SPEAKER_01: It's really good.
- 57:42SPEAKER_01: I was watching with my friends uh uh Christmas Eve.
- 57:45SPEAKER_01: And I think it still holds up.
- 57:47SPEAKER_01: It actually holds up.
- 57:48SPEAKER_01: Sure, there's parts that don't.
- 57:49SPEAKER_01: Like with a lot of stuff you know that is not anything Sinbad doesn't hold up, but the Sinbad stuff.
- 57:55SPEAKER_01: It's crazy.
- 57:55SPEAKER_01: It's like the this guy is like literally a terrorist.
- 57:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 57:59unknown: Do you remember?
- 58:00SPEAKER_01: He's like a male man who's like trying to get a toy and in it he's just like pretending he has a bomb multiple times.
- 58:06SPEAKER_01: But then it's gonna read the bomb.
- 58:07SPEAKER_00: This this black man in the city, like at this time, we think he's not gonna just get like arrested immediately after like 20 minutes into the movie.
- 58:17SPEAKER_01: It's insane.
- 58:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 58:18SPEAKER_01: It's an insane thing.
- 58:20SPEAKER_01: But it's Arnold Schwarzenegger does some good funny faces.
- 58:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 58:25SPEAKER_01: Uh Phil Hartman's great in it.
- 58:26SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell, Jr.
- 58:26SPEAKER_04: Phil Hartman is so good in it.
- 58:28SPEAKER_04: But Phil Hartman's great in everything, but like he's so good in that movie.
- 58:31SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 58:31SPEAKER_01: He's so good.
- 58:33SPEAKER_01: The stories, like it the the you see the city that they're in.
- 58:36SPEAKER_01: You know, it's like it's it's nice.
- 58:38SPEAKER_01: I like it.
- 58:38SPEAKER_04: It's a great Christmas movie.
- 58:39SPEAKER_04: I do watch it regularly at Christmas time.
- 58:41SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 58:41SPEAKER_01: And then we went, so we watched that one.
- 58:42SPEAKER_01: We were like, this one's like we kept turning to it.
- 58:44SPEAKER_01: Like, this is like holding up.
- 58:45SPEAKER_01: Like this is like good.
- 58:46SPEAKER_01: Like, wow, look at this like shot.
- 58:47SPEAKER_01: Like it's like framed.
- 58:48SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm interested in watching this children's family movie from the 90s.
- 58:52SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 58:53SPEAKER_01: And then we watched, try to watch the Santa Claus right after.
- 58:56SPEAKER_01: Oh no.
- 58:56SPEAKER_01: And the Santa Claus does not hold up.
- 58:57SPEAKER_01: No, it doesn't.
- 58:58SPEAKER_01: In any way.
- 58:59SPEAKER_01: Like I guess I never really like was attached to it, but it just like really doesn't hold up.
- 59:03SPEAKER_01: And you can just see the immediate difference.
- 59:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 59:06SPEAKER_04: I saw a thing last night, I don't know why this came up on my TikTok last night, but it came up with someone talking about uh Tim Allen promoting the new the Santa Claus series.
- 59:16SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell The Santa Claus is.
- 59:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 59:18SPEAKER_04: And it was just a it was a load of videos of him replying to comments that people have made about the Santa Claus.
- 59:24SPEAKER_04: But it's all generic like replies that don't make sense to anything, and it's so funny.
- 59:29SPEAKER_04: It's like it's him going, Oh, you like Christmas.
- 59:33SPEAKER_04: Thank you for watching.
- 59:35SPEAKER_04: And it's like the questions aren't relevant to anything they say.
- 59:38SPEAKER_01: Weird.
- 59:39SPEAKER_04: And it's so weird.
- 59:40SPEAKER_04: It's like three-stock responses going back over and over again.
- 59:43SPEAKER_04: It's so insane.
- 59:44SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 59:45SPEAKER_01: That's odd.
- 59:46SPEAKER_01: He talked about um I mean he's also like he has one of my favorite quotes.
- 59:50SPEAKER_01: Just like being a conservative.
- 59:53SPEAKER_01: But being a conservative in Hollywood is like being a Jew in the in Germany in the 1940s.
- 59:59SPEAKER_01: Is it?
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_01: Is it like that?
- 1:00:03SPEAKER_01: Being a conservative in Hollywood is like being a Jew in the Holocaust.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_01: K.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_01: Tim Allen.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_01: But you know, apparently the Santa Claus was supposed to be like a much darker movie.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_01: I don't know if you heard about that.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_01: Like it was like you're supposed to shoot Santa with a gun.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_01: I wish he'd instead of it just being like, hey, and then he like falls off the roof or whatever.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus That would have been interesting to say.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_01: And it's weird, and you can see like the the oh the threads of that, but then it became Disney Fied.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_01: Like your setup.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_04: Like your settlable.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_01: How I got away with that.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_04: I don't know how you did.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_04: Like did they did they not did they flag anything to you?
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_01: They made me cut one joke from the set that I pitched, and I'm glad they did.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_01: It was an Alzheimer's joke that was kind of like kind of weak sauce.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_04: But they didn't flag any like Disney related stuff.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_01: No.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_01: But I mean, because it's like it was audience participation for this.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_01: And so they said Disneyland.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_01: And then I wrote it down.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_01: It was fine.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_01: The one clearance issue they were like possibly was Mad Libs, because it's a brand.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_04: Oh, of course, yeah.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_01: To bring out the Mad Libs.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_01: But they were like, we'll just pay for the license because we like this bit.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_04: Oh, nice.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_04: Oh, cool.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_04: Well, it went over well, so.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_01: And it went over and it went over great.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_01: It was maybe one of the proudest achievements of my life.
- 1:01:25SPEAKER_01: So far.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_01: And then this.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_01: And then and now this podcast.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_04: This is what's going to get you Adam Sandler.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_04: Next one he's got coming up is uh another Safti brothers movie.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_04: Uh The Uncut Gems guys.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_01: What wait, what do you mean?
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_04: He's got another one coming up.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_01: It's in process, but the Safti brothers just announced that they're Yeah, it's already been filmed.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_01: Oh, it has?
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_01: I thought they said that it was gonna it was like still in production.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_04: It says post-production.
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_04: It says plot under wraps, post-production, Adam Sandler, and Megan the Stallion.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_01: I mean that that's awesome.
- 1:02:01SPEAKER_01: I I loved Uncut Gems.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_01: I love uh I haven't seen the Curse Finale, don't say anything.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_01: Have you seen have you watched the Curse Finale?
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_01: I haven't seen any of it yet.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_04: No, I want to watch it though.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_01: We have uh me and my girlfriend have one more episode, but then I had to leave for this trip.
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_01: So as soon as we get back, we're I'd be like trying to no spoilers that.
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_01: No, I haven't seen it, don't worry.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_01: I love Nathan Fielder, I love the Safty brothers.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_01: Nathan Fielder, I think, is such a genius.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_01: He's so good.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_01: Nathan, for you, I loved the rehearsal I loved.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_01: It's just so my shit.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_04: It's it's all stuff that I love to watch, but would never be able to do.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_04: Really?
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_04: I can't I can't be that awkward.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_04: Like I can't I can't play a character like that.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_04: I just can't do it with with people.
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_01: It can be weird.
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_01: You know, when I was like when I was living in Austin, uh Texas, I I um you know, I was like doing comedy starting out and stuff.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_01: So I was like trying to film some sketches, some man on the street stuff.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_01: And so I would go on the street and ask people, I forget like what bits I was doing, but it was like there was like one where I was like running for like city council.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_01: Like I just like moved there and I was like trying to like get signatures for that.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_01: And a couple other, I was asking people about their favorite.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_01: I I forget what it was, but man on the street stuff.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_01: And I always found that afterwards I would feel so horrible.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_01: I hated it so much.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_01: And then I would look through the footage, I'm like, there's so much stuff here.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_01: And then one time I would say it was like some like convention, some like vegan keto food convention at the convention center.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_01: I'm walking around and I have a really nice time.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_01: I feel like I'm really having good interactions with people.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_01: And then I'm going to edit the video afterwards, and I'm like, there's nothing usable in this.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_01: It's just me being polite to a bunch of people sucks.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_01: This should sucks so bad.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, oh, the if you feel bad about it, there's actually stuff there.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_01: Eric Andres kind of talked about it too, about feeling horrible about it and knowing that it's I I can't do anywhere near the contract.
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_01: Nathan, for you Nathan Fielder stuff feels a little bit more doable to me because the concept of knowing that they are on camera, signing a contract, and then kind of coming in with like a battle plan and like things you want to say.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_01: But how he keeps a deadpan face, I don't I don't know how to do that.
- 1:04:01SPEAKER_04: Aaron Ross Powell No, I can't.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_04: I'm so obvious.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_04: I can't even lie.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_04: Cannot lie.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_04: People people get it immediately for me.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_01: I'm not I I'm not great either unless I'm really trying, and it's like, how do I want to really try to lie to somebody?
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_04: That's weird.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_04: One of the funny things when I was watching your show actually was like the times where you would break suddenly.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_04: It's just like oh I wonder what's going to I wonder why that's the bit that gets you.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus Yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_01: It just kind of depends.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_01: I sometimes forget.
- 1:04:31SPEAKER_01: I try to make myself laugh during it.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_04: But it's nice.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_04: It's like it's a nice reminder of like, oh yeah, it's just the character.
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_01: And and honestly, it's like when I find it to be the most interesting and impressive is when I don't break it, if I cannot break it all.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_01: But that's it's almost impossible when I'm doing this stuff and I'm hearing the laughter, and I can like I can hear like friends in the crowd or people laughing at certain parts, or like I just say something so silly that it makes me laugh, or I like forget that this is the next part.
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus, there are like jokes that always make me laugh, where I'm like setting up this uh like the Scooby-Doo and Shaggy impression.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_01: Like it always cracks me up.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_04: Um Yeah, that was one of the things he broke at.
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_04: But like um the th the thing I did find funny was the guy in the front row that you were trying to get to read that uh you were trying to get him to read the question, and then he was just like refuse to read it, and then that broke you a little bit, and then you have to go to someone else.
- 1:05:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that was insane.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_01: I was just like, why is he not reading it?
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_01: What is going on here?
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell It's so funny when I hand people a piece of paper where there is writing and they have to say those words into a microphone and they act like anybody's gonna be mad that they say those things.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_01: It's happened a couple times.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_01: But it's just so fascinating to me.
- 1:05:41SPEAKER_01: Like a couple times.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_01: It happens one out of a dozen times, maybe.
- 1:05:47SPEAKER_01: One out of twenty, maybe.
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell, Jr.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_01: Somebody will be like, uh I can't say this.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_01: You take the mic away and put it to someone else.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus, Jr.: Because then you got a wom there was a woman that you got, and then she go I don't want to spoil everything, but like she was really into
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_01: One time I did learn, like early on when I was doing the closing bit where people have to read some jokes.
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_01: Those are the spiciest jokes, I'd say.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_01: And I'd give them to a random audience member.
- 1:06:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_01: The Obama joke of the horn Muslim joke.
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_01: It's like that one is, I think, one of the toughest jokes and for somebody to say.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_01: And I was like, okay, fair.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_01: That's it.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_01: That my set is ending bad now because I know that.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_01: So that has like taught me a lot of like I'm like, I pick somebody in the crowd, I test them out if they can say uh pick one of three punchlines.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_01: Okay, you can talk, cool.
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_01: And can you read?
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_01: I figured that's what you were doing.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_04: You're like testing them and then making sure they're okay with that.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_04: It's a little auditioning.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_01: It's an auditioning process.
- 1:07:01SPEAKER_04: It's not like you're not going to go back to that other guy and go, okay, now you do.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:06SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 1:07:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_01: So I have little moves now.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_01: But even then.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_01: Even then you have the guy just being like, I'm not going to say I hate women.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_01: It's like, dude, you're it's a piece of paper that you're reading off that everybody sees.
- 1:07:17SPEAKER_01: Honestly, I'm more suspicious of people who do that.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it makes me go it makes me go, oh, you're trying way too hard here.
- 1:07:23SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 1:07:24SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 1:07:27SPEAKER_04: It's like you're not in on the joke here.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_04: You know, like people know.
- 1:07:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_04: But yeah, it's funny.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_04: I do like watching the process of like how comedian works with like little like the little moves they use for things like that.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_04: I always find it really interesting.
- 1:07:40SPEAKER_01: That's fun.
- 1:07:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_04: Um other than that.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_04: Oh, John McElroy's in this.
- 1:07:46SPEAKER_04: I forgot about that as well.
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_01: He just plays himself.
- 1:07:50SPEAKER_01: He has a fight.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_01: In the bar?
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_01: No.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_04: It's like the bit with Jared Fogle.
- 1:07:56SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 1:07:56SPEAKER_04: Like when the I don't know what that is, but it's like all these.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_04: It's like a Christmas party or something.
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:08:03SPEAKER_04: It's all like the Shamwell guy or something.
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 1:08:07SPEAKER_04: I don't know enough of those people.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_04: That's the thing.
- 1:08:09SPEAKER_04: Jared Fogel thing is so funny.
- 1:08:11SPEAKER_04: It's insane that he's in it.
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_04: And then he's there and he's there with like two women as well.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_01: The moms of his of his dates.
- 1:08:22SPEAKER_01: Allegedly.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_01: Allegedly.
- 1:08:26SPEAKER_04: Oh god, what else are we talking about with this movie?
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_04: There's no there's nothing in this movie.
- 1:08:35SPEAKER_04: There's really nothing in this movie at all.
- 1:08:36SPEAKER_01: I did hesitate on so when you first asked me, my initial instinct was Jack and Jill.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_01: Because it was like and so this which was uh we weeks ago?
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you were you were like having trouble picking one.
- 1:08:46SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell I was having trouble picking one because and it's like I should have just gone with my gut, which is Jack and Jill.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_01: But I was like how much is there to this movie to talk about?
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_01: I figured we can talk more about Adam Sandler stuff, like other Sandman stuff.
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_01: We've been able to.
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_01: But I was like, I was hesitant about it because yeah, there's not too much other than being like, I don't know, made me and my girlfriend laugh.
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_01: Like there's not much more to it than that.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_04: There's really not a whole lot in this movie.
- 1:09:10SPEAKER_01: There's not anything like I was trying to find one that I could like really sink my teeth into and be like, here's why I like this.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_01: And I have like a couple things.
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I like I like the Jill side of things.
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_04: And so what what what do you like most about this movie then?
- 1:09:23SPEAKER_01: I mean, well, Alpuccino's the funniest, yeah.
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_01: And I like that the idea that this like abrasive, uh this loud, quote unquote annoying woman is kind of the heart of the movie.
- 1:09:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:09:36SPEAKER_01: And that Adam Sandler is playing this character straight as opposed to being like I don't know.
- 1:09:43SPEAKER_01: I don't know what other way you could play it, but I just could see it being a-then like gorbil or something.
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:09:49SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 1:09:49SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:09:50SPEAKER_01: Where that just feels like a little like not ugly, but like a little bit like more mean-spirited.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I would agree with that.
- 1:09:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_04: I would definitely agree with that.
- 1:09:59SPEAKER_01: I liked I like those aspects of it.
- 1:10:01SPEAKER_01: And you know, it's just a 90-minute movie that had some funny parts in it for you know, me and my girlfriend to laugh at.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_01: I mean, every time Jared Fogle comes out.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_01: It's like it's like stuff like that also does at factor into me.
- 1:10:16SPEAKER_01: You know, laughing and drinking movies.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:10:19SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 1:10:19SPEAKER_04: You know, for the people you could pick.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_04: Oh god.
- 1:10:31SPEAKER_04: That killed me as well, that line.
- 1:10:33SPEAKER_04: Oh, thanks.
- 1:10:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_01: It it's been going fine here.
- 1:10:36SPEAKER_01: But in America, that's like back in the States, that's like one of my biggest laughs.
- 1:10:41SPEAKER_01: It's so good though.
- 1:10:41SPEAKER_04: Like Yeah.
- 1:10:43SPEAKER_04: I think it should have got a bigger laugh that night as well.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_04: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_01: And it and last night also is kind of the same.
- 1:10:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:48SPEAKER_04: Interesting.
- 1:10:49SPEAKER_04: Because he is well known here as well.
- 1:10:51SPEAKER_04: It's not like he's not well known.
- 1:10:52SPEAKER_04: So it's interesting.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_01: I mean, I don't know what it is.
- 1:10:54SPEAKER_01: Maybe they kind of see it coming a little bit more, but um I I I don't know.
- 1:10:58SPEAKER_01: I like that joke and it's still got a fine laugh, but I could tell that there's a difference between here and like when I do it.
- 1:11:03SPEAKER_01: When I do So I do this hour that I'm doing here at Soho Theater at random clubs in like the Midwest.
- 1:11:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:11:09SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna take this to Minneapolis and Milwaukee.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:11:12SPEAKER_01: You know, I've like done like random places with this.
- 1:11:15SPEAKER_01: In my first ten minutes of my set are usually kind of like the biggest, most consistent laughs.
- 1:11:23SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_01: And then the Me Too stuff is hit or miss.
- 1:11:27SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:11:27SPEAKER_01: And then like the ebooks they kind of like, the questions they really like.
- 1:11:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_01: Uh the pedophile stuff can be hit or miss.
- 1:11:35SPEAKER_01: And then the closing chunk they really like.
- 1:11:37SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:11:38SPEAKER_01: And it's almost opposite here.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_04: Interesting.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_01: Like I feel my first 10 minutes, I'm just trying to get energy going and building it up.
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_04: I think that's true of a lot of people here.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_04: I think that's a real common thing here.
- 1:11:52SPEAKER_01: But so just that it audiences take some time to warm up?
- 1:11:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:11:56SPEAKER_04: I think they I think they're like, okay, let's see, let's see what you've got, first of all.
- 1:12:00SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 1:12:00SPEAKER_04: As opposed to like, I think in America they're all more they're all like, we want you to succeed.
- 1:12:04SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 1:12:05SPEAKER_04: We're ready for the show.
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we're ready.
- 1:12:07SPEAKER_04: We want it to be good.
- 1:12:08SPEAKER_04: Whereas here we're we're like they're more like impress us.
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:12:12SPEAKER_04: Which is I think I don't know if that's a case of like because you're not British.
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_04: Or if it's because I don't know.
- 1:12:21SPEAKER_04: I do not is that a lot here though.
- 1:12:23SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 1:12:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:12:24SPEAKER_01: And I uh there is also probably something that there's no opener.
- 1:12:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:12:28SPEAKER_01: Like in in uh but even when I'm doing like my hour in the States, I'll have like an opener.
- 1:12:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:12:32SPEAKER_04: Uh I don't know.
- 1:12:34SPEAKER_04: We don't we don't always have openers here.
- 1:12:35SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell Well, yeah, we're yeah, but I'm saying like over there than to have like a little bit of a warm-up and then they're really ready for my first 10 minutes kind of thing.
- 1:12:43SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:12:44SPEAKER_01: But and not to say that they go bad, you know, at the uh in the run.
- 1:12:47SPEAKER_01: It's just like I'm like, oh, the the sounds are different.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_04: It's like they think they're a little bit more reserved here as well.
- 1:12:53SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell Yeah.
- 1:12:54SPEAKER_01: But then I crack them open with stuff that I'm like, oh, over in the States, like they don't really like the when I say it's uh it's time to get real with y'all or whatever, that gets a huge pop here.
- 1:13:03SPEAKER_04: It is funny.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_01: And it quite the dramatic spotlight is also fun.
- 1:13:06SPEAKER_01: I don't always get to have a spotlight when I perform at clubs.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_04: But like I think it's because people know what's coming there.
- 1:13:10SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:13:11SPEAKER_01: Maybe that's it.
- 1:13:12SPEAKER_01: And in the States they in the States you get a lot of people clapping at it's a scary time to be a man clapping to a degree.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_04: But you were like when you were like shout out whatever, like when you were doing that sort of stuff, that I noticed it was very quiet.
- 1:13:29SPEAKER_04: Like nobody wants to be involved in that.
- 1:13:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:13:34SPEAKER_01: That's funny.
- 1:13:35SPEAKER_01: Which is also just probably a little Soho theater thing, too.
- 1:13:39SPEAKER_04: So you will get a difference with Soho Theatre to other venues around here as well.
- 1:13:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:13:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_04: Because it's yeah.
- 1:13:45SPEAKER_04: That's a it's a like a government funded voice and everything.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_04: So like, you know.
- 1:13:51SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 1:13:51SPEAKER_01: Government funded.
- 1:13:52SPEAKER_04: As in like they I don't know that.
- 1:13:54SPEAKER_04: As in like it's an arts arts council funded, like, so that's how they get the yeah.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_04: So it's like you get a different vibe to other places where it's just like they can do whatever.
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:14:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:14:07SPEAKER_04: Um Yeah, but I think I think you'll find what I think you will find though is like your weekend shows will get the like rowdiest crowds in terms of like you'll get the loudest laughs there and you'll get like yeah.
- 1:14:22SPEAKER_04: You'll get you'll get the f the ones that want to like you'll get like the more American style crowds.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_01: Well I'll tell you, at fringe, I uh so like my first show was like on I think like a Wednesday.
- 1:14:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:14:35SPEAKER_01: That was the first show.
- 1:14:36SPEAKER_01: And they were like, technically it's previews, but it was like eight people.
- 1:14:39SPEAKER_01: And I was like, ooh, this is gonna be brutal.
- 1:14:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:14:41SPEAKER_01: But you know, it's the first show.
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_01: I don't know, people over here.
- 1:14:44SPEAKER_01: Just do it.
- 1:14:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:14:45SPEAKER_01: These eight people are nice.
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_01: Second show, Thursday, eight people again.
- 1:14:49SPEAKER_01: But a worse eight people laughing.
- 1:14:51SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, this is gonna be the most brutal run of all time.
- 1:14:54SPEAKER_01: Friday, maybe like 20 people.
- 1:14:56SPEAKER_01: I'm like, okay, there's something picking up here.
- 1:14:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:14:58SPEAKER_01: They're like a fine enough crowd.
- 1:15:00SPEAKER_01: I'm like, okay, I'm getting my bearings.
- 1:15:01SPEAKER_01: Saturday comes, sold out.
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_01: Like, finally, all right, now we're running.
- 1:15:06SPEAKER_01: Now we're hitting the ground running.
- 1:15:07SPEAKER_01: Let's do it.
- 1:15:08SPEAKER_01: And they were the most quiet crowd I've ever experienced.
- 1:15:11SPEAKER_01: And I was like, I just bombed, I came over here, I bombed my fucking dick off for like these people.
- 1:15:16SPEAKER_01: And you know, I walk out of the venue for my closer, and then I hold the I'm holding the door open just to be like, I need to go back in there.
- 1:15:23SPEAKER_01: So I'm just gonna like hold this, not look at anybody in that.
- 1:15:25SPEAKER_01: And everybody comes up to me like, that was brilliant, loved that.
- 1:15:28SPEAKER_01: Can we take a picture?
- 1:15:29SPEAKER_01: You know, it's like I thought you guys hated me.
- 1:15:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like no, we loved it.
- 1:15:33SPEAKER_01: Like, uh So I learned a lot about like what I mean and all that.
- 1:15:38SPEAKER_01: But very strange.
- 1:15:39SPEAKER_01: But they they were in a rowdy Saturday night crowd.
- 1:15:41SPEAKER_04: They were they were quite I think you'll get a I think here though is different.
- 1:15:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:15:46SPEAKER_01: Okay, that's cool.
- 1:15:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:15:47SPEAKER_04: Also I think I think it's like the real comedy fans that go the first week in Edinburgh.
- 1:15:56SPEAKER_04: And they're the ones that are just like because they see so much stuff.
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_04: They're not like loud.
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_04: Interesting.
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_01: I think it's that.
- 1:16:03SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 1:16:04SPEAKER_01: Well, I mean, also they were probably checking out other stuff.
- 1:16:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:16:07SPEAKER_01: Not my show the first week.
- 1:16:09SPEAKER_01: My my show was a really slow.
- 1:16:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you were saying, yeah.
- 1:16:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:16:13SPEAKER_01: It was like it took it took I mean, I rem I actually I found a note that I wrote to myself just like drunkenly in like the middle of Edinburgh, like just like this is this is hard.
- 1:16:23SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 1:16:24SPEAKER_01: Like I'm like, this happened a tough time.
- 1:16:26SPEAKER_01: So it's but then I remember good shows before that and good shows after that, and bad shows after that.
- 1:16:30SPEAKER_01: You know, so it's like it's just it was a very odd thing.
- 1:16:33SPEAKER_01: But up until like the nomination, I wasn't consistently selling out at all.
- 1:16:37SPEAKER_01: And then often, even my forty-something seat, 45-seat thing.
- 1:16:40SPEAKER_04: So it's 45 seat, yeah.
- 1:16:41SPEAKER_01: I think so.
- 1:16:42SPEAKER_01: It was like one of the bunkers.
- 1:16:43SPEAKER_01: Oh, you're in the bunker.
- 1:16:43SPEAKER_01: Bunker, yeah, bunker three at Pleasants.
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_01: Oh, nice.
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:16:46SPEAKER_01: Bunker three, yeah.
- 1:16:47SPEAKER_01: Um I worked in bunker two.
- 1:16:49SPEAKER_01: Oh, nice.
- 1:16:50SPEAKER_01: I mean, I would keep my uh well, Ike was in bunker two, I believe.
- 1:16:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:16:54SPEAKER_01: Right before I was in there.
- 1:16:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:16:56SPEAKER_01: I used to see him every day.
- 1:16:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:16:58SPEAKER_01: And uh Yeah, that was it was an interesting thing.
- 1:17:02SPEAKER_01: And then as soon as the nomination came out, it was just the last five were sold out.
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_01: But then and I got I got like multiple people telling me, like, hey, here's what's gonna happen.
- 1:17:12SPEAKER_01: You're gonna sell out, and they're gonna be tough shows.
- 1:17:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:17:14SPEAKER_01: Because everyone's gonna be like, oh, you're nominated?
- 1:17:16SPEAKER_01: Let's fucking see what you got then, huh?
- 1:17:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:17:19SPEAKER_01: Sarah Milliken reached out to me.
- 1:17:20SPEAKER_04: Oh, really?
- 1:17:21SPEAKER_01: Well, like I'd never met before.
- 1:17:22SPEAKER_01: I'm just like a fan from from afar.
- 1:17:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:17:24SPEAKER_01: And she was just like followed me, it was just like, hey, congrats on the nomination.
- 1:17:26SPEAKER_01: Here's the deal.
- 1:17:28SPEAKER_01: Which I was so nice and completely accurate.
- 1:17:31SPEAKER_01: The last shows were kind of hard.
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:17:33SPEAKER_01: Of the five shows of the last shows, one was really good.
- 1:17:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:17:38SPEAKER_01: And that was a Saturday, the Saturday, the set penultimate one.
- 1:17:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:17:43SPEAKER_01: And halfway through my set, Pleasance goes, fire alarm, everybody has to evacuate.
- 1:17:48SPEAKER_01: I don't get to finish that show.
- 1:17:50SPEAKER_04: No.
- 1:17:50SPEAKER_01: And then that Sunday show, my final show of the fringe, crowd sucked.
- 1:17:55SPEAKER_01: No.
- 1:17:56SPEAKER_01: And I was like, you know what?
- 1:17:57SPEAKER_01: I don't have any energy to sell it.
- 1:17:59SPEAKER_01: Like I have been like when I'm like, no, even if the crowd sucks, you gotta keep selling it.
- 1:18:02SPEAKER_01: That's what I learned throughout the fringe.
- 1:18:03SPEAKER_01: And this one I'm like, actually, I'm totally spent.
- 1:18:06SPEAKER_01: And so I'm just gonna go through my stuff.
- 1:18:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and you're just gonna be like, yeah.
- 1:18:10SPEAKER_04: So that was kind of like a I weirdly walked, I I randomly walked past you and Zach as the day you got the nomination, you're walking like out of the pleasants, and he was talking to you about the nomination, and you were going and you were like really in your head.
- 1:18:23SPEAKER_04: I could see.
- 1:18:24SPEAKER_04: And I was gonna say hello, but like you were really in your head, and you were gonna and and he was just like, just take it easy, it'll be okay, and you're gonna be do this and this and he was like really like guiding you through stuff.
- 1:18:33SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 1:18:34SPEAKER_04: And I was like, oh wow, this is really interesting.
- 1:18:37SPEAKER_04: Like just caught by part of the conversation as you were walking the you two were walking past me.
- 1:18:40SPEAKER_01: Was that did I just like bomb or something?
- 1:18:42SPEAKER_04: No, no, you were just you seem like very like you just got the nomination.
- 1:18:46SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:18:46SPEAKER_04: And you were like what time were you on?
- 1:18:50SPEAKER_01: 9 45.
- 1:18:51SPEAKER_04: Oh no, so you hadn't been on, it was like in the daytime.
- 1:18:53SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:18:54SPEAKER_04: Uh but it was the day of the nomination.
- 1:18:56SPEAKER_04: Interesting.
- 1:18:57SPEAKER_04: Um yeah, he was like talking you through something and you like seemed you seemed quite nervous about it.
- 1:19:03SPEAKER_04: I don't know if you were, like, but he was just like, okay, this is how I think he was saying to you, this is how it's gonna end up going.
- 1:19:08SPEAKER_04: Gotcha.
- 1:19:08SPEAKER_04: Like when and he's like, just do your shows and just like focus on doing the show.
- 1:19:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:19:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:19:13SPEAKER_04: It was just interesting.
- 1:19:14SPEAKER_04: It's crazy.
- 1:19:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:19:15SPEAKER_04: What are the odds?
- 1:19:17SPEAKER_04: But it was yeah.
- 1:19:18SPEAKER_04: Um Yeah, I caught like uh ten seconds or so before what you were saying to you.
- 1:19:23SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 1:19:24SPEAKER_01: It was an interesting that was an interesting time.
- 1:19:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:19:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:19:28SPEAKER_01: My venue staff was a lot nicer to me after the nomination.
- 1:19:31SPEAKER_01: Not that they were rude, but I could see like a change.
- 1:19:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:19:34SPEAKER_01: I was like, oh, this is fun.
- 1:19:36SPEAKER_01: Gotta be you know big man on campus for five days.
- 1:19:41SPEAKER_04: Did you um so once you got the nomination, they didn't Did you did did a lot of people reach out to you then as well?
- 1:19:49SPEAKER_04: What did they think?
- 1:19:50SPEAKER_01: Some some people reached out, yeah, yeah, which was which was nice.
- 1:19:52SPEAKER_01: And then just to have that, and then like when people were introducing me to people, like I got to meet David O'Darty, you know.
- 1:19:57SPEAKER_01: Oh, nice, yeah.
- 1:19:58SPEAKER_01: And just them being like, oh look, he just got nominated, and that just kind of gives people a little bit like, oh, okay, hey, how's it going?
- 1:20:03SPEAKER_01: Which is super nice, you know, just like a fan of his from afar.
- 1:20:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:20:06SPEAKER_01: And everybody else was like uh not not that uh I hadn't like I I just hadn't talked to like Patty uh Young or Dan Tiernan or anything.
- 1:20:14SPEAKER_01: But then once we all got nominated, it's like, oh yeah, we're like buddies now, kinda, you know?
- 1:20:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you just didn't really know them from afar and then yeah.
- 1:20:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:20:21SPEAKER_04: Oh, nice.
- 1:20:22SPEAKER_01: And Arouge I had never met and she was nice.
- 1:20:24SPEAKER_01: She was at the show on Monday.
- 1:20:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:20:26SPEAKER_01: I saw her there.
- 1:20:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:20:30SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna try.
- 1:20:31SPEAKER_04: I don't think I can see Arouge's show because she's yeah, she's not on for very much longer.
- 1:20:36SPEAKER_04: But and I've seen Paddy's already.
- 1:20:37SPEAKER_04: But yeah, I love Paddy.
- 1:20:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's great.
- 1:20:40SPEAKER_01: He's I heard good things.
- 1:20:41SPEAKER_01: Time conflicted.
- 1:20:42SPEAKER_04: I think you will I think you will enjoy it based on your style as well.
- 1:20:47SPEAKER_04: Okay, cool.
- 1:20:48SPEAKER_04: I would say that.
- 1:20:49SPEAKER_01: He was really nice about my show.
- 1:20:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we were talking as as we were believing your show, and he was just like, man, it's it's so interesting what you can get away with.
- 1:21:00SPEAKER_04: If you do it in character.
- 1:21:02SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 1:21:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:21:05SPEAKER_01: But like in a in a complimentary way you were saying it was just funny.
- 1:21:08SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 1:21:09SPEAKER_01: I mean that's the thing.
- 1:21:10SPEAKER_01: It's like there's a lot you can get away with if you're in character.
- 1:21:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:21:14SPEAKER_01: People here can see that I'm doing a character.
- 1:21:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:21:17SPEAKER_01: But if I'm just billing myself as my own name.
- 1:21:20SPEAKER_01: It's tough, isn't it?
- 1:21:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:21:21SPEAKER_01: Doing a club.
- 1:21:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:21:23SPEAKER_01: Where the headliner is supposed to be like, you know, like, oh, who here's dating or whatever, like, oh yeah, my my girlfriend is kind of annoying.
- 1:21:30SPEAKER_01: Or, you know, like legitimately.
- 1:21:32SPEAKER_01: Um I think if I was like if I was, you know, this I don't know I don't even know what the character's name would be, you know?
- 1:21:40SPEAKER_01: Like, which is part of the whole thing, but yeah, it's uh I could get away with more if it was character, character.
- 1:21:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:21:54SPEAKER_04: Are you gonna keep this well I imagine you're gonna keep the style like throughout the Ross Power?
- 1:21:58SPEAKER_01: Once I tape this hour, my next thing, I'm very excited for what it'll look like because it's not gonna be this.
- 1:22:04SPEAKER_01: No.
- 1:22:05SPEAKER_04: Oh, interesting.
- 1:22:06SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm hanging up this.
- 1:22:07SPEAKER_04: Well, I guess, yeah, you kind of got to, really, haven't you?
- 1:22:09SPEAKER_04: Like, at that point.
- 1:22:10SPEAKER_04: Like it's only Yeah.
- 1:22:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:22:12SPEAKER_01: I first of all like the meet to stuff and canceling stuff.
- 1:22:16SPEAKER_01: It's like there's not much more to say about it.
- 1:22:18SPEAKER_01: This is just gonna be the pattern that uh exists from now on.
- 1:22:22SPEAKER_01: It's the guys will like stuff will get found out, they'll make it back.
- 1:22:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:22:25SPEAKER_01: No one's ever gonna like fully stop unless they go to prison.
- 1:22:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:22:28SPEAKER_01: And even then, you know, uh Cosby got out, you know, on a technicality.
- 1:22:32SPEAKER_01: So it's all it's all gonna be just this process.
- 1:22:34SPEAKER_01: So that statement that I'm doing with those 10 minutes or like, or 15, whatever it is now, um that's all I have to say on that.
- 1:22:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:22:42SPEAKER_01: And then the pedophile chunk you know, what else is there to say there either?
- 1:22:47SPEAKER_01: You know, that was kind of like maybe there's more to explore as like what when I put this out, what that response will be.
- 1:22:53SPEAKER_01: I kind of like the idea of like taking putting something out there and analyzing what the response to that was and what it meant for me and what it meant for people.
- 1:23:01SPEAKER_01: And I think maybe next time I'll get even a little bit more analytical.
- 1:23:04SPEAKER_01: This one's a little bit more like cheeky and playful than I think.
- 1:23:07SPEAKER_01: But I'm like, there's interesting things here and threads.
- 1:23:10SPEAKER_04: There is there is really interesting stuff.
- 1:23:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:23:12SPEAKER_01: I might try to thread that out more.
- 1:23:13SPEAKER_01: Oh nice.
- 1:23:14SPEAKER_01: Um but yeah, this like pretending to be a bad guy and then being in the crowd and or be uh being on stage and seeing in the crowd, like just a woman be staring daggers at me, hating me.
- 1:23:25SPEAKER_01: I'm like, that hurts me.
- 1:23:28SPEAKER_01: Especially if I'm like doing fine, making okay money.
- 1:23:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:23:31SPEAKER_01: And I'm just like, I'm fucking traveling around, I'm doing this, and then I just see these people hate me.
- 1:23:35SPEAKER_01: Where I'm like, we'd agree.
- 1:23:37SPEAKER_01: Like, what is the thing here?
- 1:23:38SPEAKER_01: And the thing that's holding it back is that I'm doing my my thing.
- 1:23:42SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:23:43SPEAKER_01: Anyway, thanks for turning this into a therapy session for me.
- 1:23:47SPEAKER_01: That's all right.
- 1:23:48SPEAKER_01: That's all right.
- 1:23:48SPEAKER_01: I just let out like that.
- 1:23:51SPEAKER_00: Basically, we'll see what happens next.
- 1:23:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:23:53SPEAKER_04: Also, if you do want anything cut, just tell me.
- 1:23:55SPEAKER_04: No, no, I don't know.
- 1:23:56SPEAKER_04: I just think it's funny.
- 1:23:57SPEAKER_04: I think it's really interesting.
- 1:23:58SPEAKER_04: No, I I love talking about this sort of stuff.
- 1:24:00SPEAKER_04: Like I love I love the behind the scenes of it.
- 1:24:03SPEAKER_04: It's so interesting to me.
- 1:24:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:24:06SPEAKER_04: I think a lot of the audience that listens to this as well, they they they love all that.
- 1:24:09SPEAKER_04: Okay, that's cool.
- 1:24:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:24:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:24:10SPEAKER_01: I mean, and and I will say though, like lately, and I I don't know if I mentioned it when we were talking uh two nights ago, it's all blurred now.
- 1:24:17SPEAKER_01: Two nights ago.
- 1:24:18SPEAKER_01: Uh but and it happened last night too, and it happened in Edinburgh, but also or or this pastime.
- 1:24:24SPEAKER_01: Even as late as like the fringe run, I would have like every couple shows, every few shows, there would I see a woman in the crowd absolutely hate me.
- 1:24:34unknown: Oh.
- 1:24:34SPEAKER_01: And that was tough.
- 1:24:35SPEAKER_01: And there was like specifically this one lady, I'm trying to find a way like into like say in the show, but I could just see immediately, almost immediately, she just staring daggers at me, hating, not leaving, not walking out, but hating me.
- 1:24:46SPEAKER_01: Hating me, hating me.
- 1:24:47SPEAKER_01: Her boyfriend didn't seem like too or the guy she was with didn't seem too uh uh fond of me either, but she was staring daggers at me.
- 1:24:54SPEAKER_01: So then it got to the point where, you know, I'm doing all my sh my shick shtick and then uh I'm doing the mad lips bit.
- 1:25:00SPEAKER_01: So I need some suggestions from the audience, plural noun, somebody says one.
- 1:25:03SPEAKER_01: Adjective, nobody says anything, a beat, and she says angry.
- 1:25:08SPEAKER_01: Oh and I was like, all right, I'm choosing not to read into that, and I just wrote it down.
- 1:25:12SPEAKER_01: And then I kind of like was playful a little bit more, like at the end of the show where I say, you know, I want some constructive feedback, you know, for next time you see it, and then I point at her next time you come and watch it.
- 1:25:20SPEAKER_01: And then uh just kind of did that.
- 1:25:22SPEAKER_01: At the end of the show, I'm standing outside, like talking to people, and she comes up to me and she goes in to shake my hand.
- 1:25:29SPEAKER_01: I'm like, oh, and then she like cuts off my hand, like or like uh, you know, like grabs it like early, yeah.
- 1:25:34SPEAKER_01: And she's like, it's okay.
- 1:25:36SPEAKER_01: I was just on my period and then rolls her eyes and then walks away.
- 1:25:40SPEAKER_01: And then that stuck with me for about like the half hour after, like just like being like, Jesus, what am I doing?
- 1:25:45unknown: You know?
- 1:25:46SPEAKER_01: So like that that stuff.
- 1:25:47SPEAKER_01: This was last night in Edinburgh.
- 1:25:48SPEAKER_01: This was in Edinburgh, like towards the end of the run in Edinburgh.
- 1:25:51SPEAKER_01: And you know, I felt bad, you know, she's on her period.
- 1:25:53SPEAKER_01: But uh I'm I'm I'm trying to figure out how to like explore that, but uh lately I can see some dudes not liking it, and I haven't really seen any women hate it.
- 1:26:05SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, cool.
- 1:26:06SPEAKER_01: That I think that I've kind of hit it on the head.
- 1:26:10SPEAKER_01: If if anyone's not gonna like it and like be like, I'm I hate it.
- 1:26:12SPEAKER_01: That's what you need, yeah.
- 1:26:14SPEAKER_01: I want it to be dudes who are like, you're making fun of my hero right now.
- 1:26:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:26:17SPEAKER_01: That's the that's the hope.
- 1:26:18SPEAKER_01: And that's what I maybe I'm reading too much into it based off of three shows, but I'm like, I could yeah, I mean, I was looking and I was like, oh, interesting.
- 1:26:25SPEAKER_04: No, I think Yeah.
- 1:26:27SPEAKER_04: I think if you're getting that crowd and you're getting a couple of guys that are not liking it, that's good to me.
- 1:26:33SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell I I think so.
- 1:26:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:26:35SPEAKER_01: I think so.
- 1:26:35SPEAKER_01: And I'm hoping maybe hopefully this trend continues, but we'll see.
- 1:26:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:26:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm sure it will.
- 1:26:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:26:41SPEAKER_01: Four more shows.
- 1:26:43SPEAKER_01: Four more shows.
- 1:26:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:26:45SPEAKER_04: Uh okay.
- 1:26:45SPEAKER_04: So let's uh don't want to keep you too much longer, so let's let's end on the final bit, which is the Oh yes.
- 1:26:51SPEAKER_04: The reverse of of We've gone so far off Jack and Jill, but like the reverse of this.
- 1:26:56SPEAKER_04: Do you have a movie that you uh that is universally loved by critics and maybe audience members that you actually think is a bad movie?
- 1:27:04SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell I So you mentioned La La Land is one that a lot of people say.
- 1:27:08SPEAKER_01: What's yours outside of La La Land?
- 1:27:10SPEAKER_04: Aaron Ross Powell Mine is the usual suspects.
- 1:27:12SPEAKER_04: Oh, I've never seen it.
- 1:27:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:27:14SPEAKER_04: It's I just never liked it even prior to this spacey stuff.
- 1:27:18SPEAKER_04: Interesting.
- 1:27:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:27:19SPEAKER_04: I just always thought I think it's like Do you do you know anything about it?
- 1:27:24SPEAKER_01: Uh I know like the end.
- 1:27:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:27:26SPEAKER_01: The ending.
- 1:27:26SPEAKER_01: So I think iconic.
- 1:27:27SPEAKER_04: Basically, I think it hinges on that.
- 1:27:29SPEAKER_04: And like I think people remember that bit and love it because of that, and then the rest of the movie is so boring.
- 1:27:35SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 1:27:35SPEAKER_04: It's just a bad, it's not a bad it's not a good movie to me.
- 1:27:37SPEAKER_04: And then it's like everyone goes, oh wow, that ending, and then they love it.
- 1:27:41SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:27:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:27:42SPEAKER_01: So that I like I definitely I would like to think of one that but you know you told me this right before we started recording, so I didn't have time to think of a good one.
- 1:27:49SPEAKER_01: Uh but I I go with Jack and Jill.
- 1:27:53SPEAKER_04: Go with Jack.
- 1:27:56SPEAKER_01: No, I um Jack.
- 1:28:00SPEAKER_01: Jack.
- 1:28:01SPEAKER_01: Maybe that next next pod we'll talk about Jack.
- 1:28:04SPEAKER_01: Jack is great.
- 1:28:05SPEAKER_01: That's a fun one.
- 1:28:07SPEAKER_01: I wonder how it would hold up, but it probably doesn't.
- 1:28:11SPEAKER_01: I definitely wish I could think of one where I'm like, and here's the reason is because like it's so shitty about like this X and X, and I'm sure I could have movies I can think of that.
- 1:28:19SPEAKER_01: But when you told me that, the first thing that came to mind is this movie called Boyhood.
- 1:28:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:28:26SPEAKER_04: This movie called Boyhood, the Oscar winning movie.
- 1:28:29SPEAKER_01: Well I actually don't know the difference between the states and the UK, like what makes it over in the same capacity.
- 1:28:34SPEAKER_01: Although I mean I guess Oscar movies.
- 1:28:39SPEAKER_04: I mean I don't know.
- 1:28:40SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 1:28:42SPEAKER_04: We get the same stuff.
- 1:28:42SPEAKER_04: Aaron Ross Powell?
- 1:28:44SPEAKER_01: You know Bernie?
- 1:28:45SPEAKER_01: I do know Bernie.
- 1:28:46SPEAKER_04: But I'm also like a film snopper.
- 1:28:49SPEAKER_01: Gotcha.
- 1:28:49SPEAKER_01: Maybe that was a little obtuse of me.
- 1:28:51SPEAKER_01: But I'm like No, no.
- 1:28:52SPEAKER_01: I forgot that Boyhood kind of got like Oscar Oscar stuff.
- 1:28:56SPEAKER_01: And to me, I'm like, I watched it in Texas and it's by Richard Lincoln, who I love, who is a Texas director.
- 1:29:01SPEAKER_01: And I watched it like in Austin.
- 1:29:02SPEAKER_01: So I'm kind of like, was it like Texas specific?
- 1:29:04SPEAKER_01: But no.
- 1:29:04SPEAKER_01: I'm stupid.
- 1:29:05SPEAKER_01: That was yes, of course.
- 1:29:06SPEAKER_01: The movie Boyhood.
- 1:29:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:29:08SPEAKER_01: What do you not like about it?
- 1:29:10SPEAKER_01: I didn't like it.
- 1:29:11SPEAKER_01: I just didn't like it at all.
- 1:29:12SPEAKER_01: I watched it twice.
- 1:29:13SPEAKER_01: And I thought like the first time I was like, maybe I was being like a little too I was in a bad headspace.
- 1:29:19SPEAKER_01: And I watched it again.
- 1:29:19SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I just don't it's impressive.
- 1:29:22SPEAKER_01: It's cool.
- 1:29:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's impressive as an idea.
- 1:29:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:29:25SPEAKER_04: I don't think it necessarily holds up.
- 1:29:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:29:27SPEAKER_04: It's just kind of like it does as an actual movie, I don't think it's that great.
- 1:29:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:29:31SPEAKER_01: I think it's kind of boring.
- 1:29:33SPEAKER_01: It's kinda it's boring.
- 1:29:34SPEAKER_01: Like nothing really happened.
- 1:29:35SPEAKER_01: It's like the kid is like not very charismatic.
- 1:29:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:29:41SPEAKER_04: And that's so shame because it's like, what do you do when you've hired someone for 10 15 years in the past?
- 1:29:47SPEAKER_04: I know.
- 1:29:48SPEAKER_01: This cute kid kind of just turned out to be like a normal dude.
- 1:29:51SPEAKER_01: And it was just like, all right.
- 1:29:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that that one is is one that I was just like, I just don't get it.
- 1:29:56SPEAKER_01: And people loved it.
- 1:29:57SPEAKER_01: People are like crying, sobbing about it.
- 1:29:59SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I don't know.
- 1:30:00SPEAKER_04: I remember I remember liking it when I watched it.
- 1:30:03SPEAKER_04: And then the more I thought back to it, I'm like, I don't know.
- 1:30:07SPEAKER_04: It's one that like I like at the time and then never again.
- 1:30:10SPEAKER_04: I've never seen it again since.
- 1:30:11SPEAKER_01: Aaron Powell I didn't like it at the time and and I don't see myself watching it ever again.
- 1:30:16SPEAKER_01: Well the one that I one in that time period that I did like that I don't know if it would hold up is her.
- 1:30:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I really liked her.
- 1:30:24SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell I really liked her when it came out, but I have a suspicion that if I watched it now, I'd be like Yeah.
- 1:30:30SPEAKER_01: I don't think this is I know what you mean.
- 1:30:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:30:32SPEAKER_04: I know what you mean.
- 1:30:32SPEAKER_04: Again, uh that's another one I haven't seen I don't think since it came out.
- 1:30:36SPEAKER_01: I think it's also like Spike Jones is like who directed like Aziz's special.
- 1:30:40SPEAKER_01: You're just like, okay, you have an interesting view on you know what a man being sad is like what a tough tough time for a man.
- 1:30:48SPEAKER_01: And then Joaquin Phoenix, who plays like the Joker, being like this, I'm just this meek guy and I write greeting cards and poems or whatever.
- 1:30:54SPEAKER_01: And it's like, hmm, I don't know if this is like real.
- 1:30:57SPEAKER_01: And then he like falls in love with like a robot.
- 1:30:59SPEAKER_01: You're like, hmm, I don't know.
- 1:31:01SPEAKER_04: And it's also like the reverse of loss in translation, isn't it?
- 1:31:04SPEAKER_04: It's like it's supposed to be the reverse of that story.
- 1:31:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:31:08SPEAKER_04: Which is just like her version of events, and then is his version of events is supposed to be this.
- 1:31:12SPEAKER_01: Right, right.
- 1:31:14SPEAKER_04: It's just interesting.
- 1:31:16SPEAKER_01: Was it intended in that way, or is that just how people interpreted it?
- 1:31:18SPEAKER_01: No, it's intended in that way.
- 1:31:19SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 1:31:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:31:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:31:21SPEAKER_01: I I maybe I should read that.
- 1:31:25SPEAKER_04: It's how she viewed it.
- 1:31:25SPEAKER_04: So it feels like an almost like, oh well, if you did this, I'm gonna do this now.
- 1:31:29SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 1:31:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:31:30SPEAKER_01: Well it's it's like um 500 days a summer.
- 1:31:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:31:34SPEAKER_01: You know, like how that one is viewed different now.
- 1:31:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:31:37SPEAKER_01: But at the time I liked it, and now I'm like, I'm sure I would also be able to do that.
- 1:31:40SPEAKER_04: Well, everyone was like, oh, he he was I feel so bad for him, and then you're like, no, he's the bad guy in it.
- 1:31:45SPEAKER_04: It's like, no, don't you've taken you've taken you've got the wrong perspective of this movie.
- 1:31:49SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 1:31:50SPEAKER_01: Let's say a Joker also.
- 1:31:52SPEAKER_01: Oh, Joker's fucking awful.
- 1:31:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:31:54SPEAKER_01: Uh me and my friend watched it, and my my best buddy Jesus, and we were like, we walked out of the theater like, people think that was good?
- 1:32:00SPEAKER_01: There were two funny moments.
- 1:32:02SPEAKER_01: Really funny moments.
- 1:32:04SPEAKER_01: One where he's dancing, uh doing being a clown in the in the hospital with the kids, and then a gun falls out of his pocket.
- 1:32:11SPEAKER_01: Like that was really funny.
- 1:32:12SPEAKER_01: And then one where he's like trying to be he's like being like serious, like, I'm you know, I'm a serious guy.
- 1:32:19SPEAKER_01: I forget what the line is, and then he just like walks into a glass door.
- 1:32:22SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:32:22SPEAKER_01: Like those two parts made me laugh.
- 1:32:24SPEAKER_01: And everything else around it, I'm like, no, this sucks.
- 1:32:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:32:27SPEAKER_01: But people loved it.
- 1:32:28SPEAKER_04: People did love it.
- 1:32:29SPEAKER_04: I don't think well, it's gonna be interesting the next one as well.
- 1:32:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:32:32SPEAKER_04: You know, it's a musical.
- 1:32:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:32:36SPEAKER_04: What a turn.
- 1:32:37SPEAKER_04: I don't know what that's gonna be.
- 1:32:38SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell I don't I I think it'll probably do really well.
- 1:32:41SPEAKER_04: I think it's gonna do very well.
- 1:32:43SPEAKER_01: But it's like interesting because I think a lot of the fans, the biggest fans of the Joker might not be so interested in it.
- 1:32:51SPEAKER_04: That's what I'm thinking.
- 1:32:53SPEAKER_01: Which is kind of cool.
- 1:32:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:32:55SPEAKER_01: I kind of I can kind of respect that, but I just didn't I just didn't get the Joker.
- 1:32:58SPEAKER_01: And then I think a lot of what he represents for people, I'm like, oh this is a little troubling.
- 1:33:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:33:03SPEAKER_04: Tom Phillips is a bit problematic as well.
- 1:33:10SPEAKER_04: So I think a lot of him reflects on that.
- 1:33:12SPEAKER_04: You can't make comedy anymore.
- 1:33:13SPEAKER_04: I mean that's literally what he says.
- 1:33:15SPEAKER_04: It's like, okay, dude, watch my fucking show.
- 1:33:19SPEAKER_04: And then you then need to be proven right.
- 1:33:22SPEAKER_04: Damn, damn, got my ass.
- 1:33:24SPEAKER_04: I was asking for it.
- 1:33:26SPEAKER_04: Three stars.
- 1:33:34SPEAKER_04: Okay, so other than yeah, you've got so you've got how this will be out after you're done here, basically.
- 1:33:40SPEAKER_04: So like I was gonna say promote it, but like do you have any shows coming up in America or anything?
- 1:33:45SPEAKER_01: Uh I do, but I can't remember any of them, and I'm waiting to hear back on some.
- 1:33:49SPEAKER_01: But uh I'm definitely gonna be yeah, I'm waiting to hear back on a lot, but uh I post everything on Instagram's the only one I use now.
- 1:33:56SPEAKER_01: Twitter occasionally I'll retweet something.
- 1:33:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:33:58SPEAKER_01: Or if I'm really feeling crazy, I'll tweet something, but I that's so rare.
- 1:34:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:34:03SPEAKER_01: Um I have a TikTok, but I haven't used it in forever, and it used to be my friend who ran it.
- 1:34:07SPEAKER_01: Oh, right.
- 1:34:08SPEAKER_01: So you would just do it for me, and then he got too busy, and then so I just have some followers there, but I just don't ever use it.
- 1:34:13SPEAKER_01: But I like Instagram.
- 1:34:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:34:15SPEAKER_04: So what's your what's your handle on everything?
- 1:34:16SPEAKER_01: At Martin Urbano.
- 1:34:18SPEAKER_01: Well, Instagram is at Martin Urbano Jr.
- 1:34:20SPEAKER_01: But Martin Urbano, you'll see.
- 1:34:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:34:22SPEAKER_01: There's not that many of us.
- 1:34:23SPEAKER_04: I'll tag you in everything, but like if people are just wanting to search, you'd find you.
- 1:34:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:34:32SPEAKER_04: Do you have anything else you'd like to promote?
- 1:34:34SPEAKER_01: No.
- 1:34:35SPEAKER_01: Nothing?
- 1:34:35SPEAKER_01: Jack and Jill.
- 1:34:36SPEAKER_01: Jack and Jill.
- 1:34:37SPEAKER_01: Streaming on Netflix now?
- 1:34:38SPEAKER_04: It's not.
- 1:34:39SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's not?
- 1:34:39SPEAKER_04: Not here.
- 1:34:40SPEAKER_04: Oh, in the States it is.
- 1:34:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah, maybe in the States.
- 1:34:42SPEAKER_01: Or maybe it's maybe it's been removed.
- 1:34:44SPEAKER_04: It's not on anything here.
- 1:34:46SPEAKER_04: I had to like find it.
- 1:34:48SPEAKER_04: Sorry.
- 1:34:49SPEAKER_04: I didn't look that it's fine.
- 1:34:50SPEAKER_01: How much did you pay for it?
- 1:34:51SPEAKER_04: I did not pay for it.
- 1:34:52SPEAKER_04: Oh, okay.
- 1:34:56SPEAKER_01: No.
- 1:34:57SPEAKER_01: Two dollars.
- 1:34:58SPEAKER_01: Come on.
- 1:34:58SPEAKER_01: Two dollar rental.
- 1:34:59SPEAKER_01: One for Jack, one for Jill.
- 1:35:00SPEAKER_04: One for Jack, one for Jill, yeah.
- 1:35:02SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 1:35:02SPEAKER_04: Thank you so much for coming on, Martin.
- 1:35:04SPEAKER_01: Hey, thanks for having me.
- 1:35:05SPEAKER_04: That's the end of the episode.
