- 0:01Speaker 1: Hey, what are boxing fans. This is the rope of
- 0:05Speaker 1: Dope Radio podcast. I am your host, Chris Carlson. We
- 0:09Speaker 1: are live on a Monday night, kind of random tried
- 0:13Speaker 1: to do one Thursday. Technology got in the way with
- 0:18Speaker 1: the person I was going to do the show with.
- 0:20Speaker 1: It got all messed up, ended up not doing it today.
- 0:27Speaker 1: My internet randomly went down so they had to fix it. YadA, YadA, YadA,
- 0:35Speaker 1: and yeah, so it even got delayed during the day.
- 0:39Speaker 1: I had plans tonight. I'm not trying to woe is
- 0:43Speaker 1: me people, but anyway, we are back. I'm sorry I
- 0:45Speaker 1: missed last week. Like I said, try to do it Thursday,
- 0:48Speaker 1: didn't work out. Try to get this puppy out earlier today,
- 0:52Speaker 1: but it it just for whatever reason, maybe it's Jake
- 0:57Speaker 1: Paul bro the boxing gods are sending a message to skin.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Everybody's blaming Jake Paul for a variety of things that
- 1:07Speaker 1: although you can be critical of Jake paulin in certain ways,
- 1:16Speaker 1: well we won't get into that right now. Okay, anyway,
- 1:19Speaker 1: welcome back to the show. This is the real rope
- 1:23Speaker 1: a Dope Radio. By the way, there's two other podcasts
- 1:27Speaker 1: that have the name in some form or fashion, do you.
- 1:33Speaker 1: I mean, ultimately I didn't come up with robodope, right,
- 1:35Speaker 1: Muhammad Ali did. So it is what it is. But
- 1:39Speaker 1: this is the real one. You know. They weren't as
- 1:43Speaker 1: creative as I was. And obviously ultimately Mohamad Ali was right.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Just had to get that out there had been getting
- 1:52Speaker 1: messages on that. Hey I saw this other one. Yeah,
- 1:54Speaker 1: it is what it is. Man. Well I'm not going
- 1:59Speaker 1: to get it that either, the UK laws and all that. Anyway,
- 2:03Speaker 1: we're gonna talk about some boxing. Jake Paul Junior. We'll
- 2:11Speaker 1: just call it. I don't even want to say that
- 2:13Speaker 1: full name. I think it's disrespectful to senior. So maybe
- 2:19Speaker 1: I'll just Jase J C C Junior. He was a
- 2:24Speaker 1: no show. Anybody mad at that? I mean, this is Junior,
- 2:32Speaker 1: So what did you expect? Anyway, we'll talk about that.
- 2:37Speaker 1: We'll talk about some of the undercard action. U Dordikos
- 2:41Speaker 1: put up a good Dortico's Dordicos put up a good
- 2:46Speaker 1: fight early on, not even early on for a while,
- 2:51Speaker 1: then kind of just fell off against Gilberto Ramirez, J
- 2:56Speaker 1: Paul Ramirez. Anyone would they actually do that fight? I'm
- 3:00Speaker 1: saying no, I don't think there's enough money in it.
- 3:02Speaker 1: But anyway, we'll talk about the undercart. Floyd Schofield. Wow,
- 3:08Speaker 1: now that was impressive, very very impressive. We'll talk about
- 3:15Speaker 1: m Billy didn't really need many, you know, many minutes,
- 3:23Speaker 1: right Wilder. We'll talk about that, a lot of back
- 3:29Speaker 1: and forth on that. Obviously, he's a name fighter, especially
- 3:32Speaker 1: in the States, but overall he's a name fighter. He's
- 3:36Speaker 1: past his prime. A lot of people have an opinion
- 3:38Speaker 1: on why is he even fighting. Others now think he's
- 3:43Speaker 1: can make a.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Run at the title. I mean, you know, the title
- 3:48Speaker 2: could come loose and he could beat a random or
- 3:52Speaker 2: something like that. But we're going to talk about it.
- 3:53Speaker 2: You know, we're gonna talk about it. I thought there
- 3:56Speaker 2: was things you could take away that were positive, and
- 4:00Speaker 2: I think there was some still things that tells you
- 4:03Speaker 2: he's just too past.
- 4:04Speaker 1: It, man, you know, he's just too past it. But
- 4:11Speaker 1: you know, it is what it is when it comes
- 4:14Speaker 1: to that. So we'll talk about a variety of things
- 4:16Speaker 1: that happened recently, and then you know, I do want
- 4:19Speaker 1: to talk about Norman Junior and some other stuff that
- 4:23Speaker 1: I missed last week. Obviously, we got the news that
- 4:27Speaker 1: seemed dead. Hany and Norman Junior are fighting later this year.
- 4:34Speaker 1: That's a hell of a fight, great fight. Gonna give
- 4:38Speaker 1: my take on it, like my first glance at it,
- 4:42Speaker 1: so to speak, and also give both fighters a lot
- 4:45Speaker 1: of credit. Devin Haney looking for the smoke. Shouts out
- 4:50Speaker 1: to him, especially coming off you know last year's performance
- 4:55Speaker 1: that was pretty dreadful, well not dreadful. He actually looked
- 5:00Speaker 1: okay in the realms he was winning, but then you know,
- 5:03Speaker 1: he kept getting dropped, clearly got tied up in the
- 5:07Speaker 1: grind Garcia drama. But also shots out to Norman Junior.
- 5:13Speaker 1: And we will revisit what people, including myself said about
- 5:20Speaker 1: him and the Boots Ennis fight and should he should
- 5:26Speaker 1: he not? What did he do? Did he screw up?
- 5:29Speaker 1: We're going to talk about it. We'll talk a little
- 5:32Speaker 1: bit about this weekend. It's light caterall U Bank, you
- 5:37Speaker 1: know that type of thing speaking of there is a
- 5:40Speaker 1: UK fight that just popped off, a rematch you Bank
- 5:46Speaker 1: and Ben you Bank Junior and Ben I should say,
- 5:49Speaker 1: clarify that and then some other you know, current fight news,
- 5:52Speaker 1: boxing Twitter stuff. You know, there's lots to talk about
- 5:57Speaker 1: it in a variety of ways there, but yeah, we're
- 6:01Speaker 1: gonna get into it. Thanks for staying with me. Like
- 6:04Speaker 1: I said, this last really couple of months, probably the
- 6:08Speaker 1: Tuesday nights have been tough for me. Life gets in
- 6:12Speaker 1: the way, but you know, you gotta do what you
- 6:15Speaker 1: gotta do. Right. If this is your first time listening
- 6:18Speaker 1: to the Real Rope Adobe Radio podcast, it includes boxing,
- 6:25Speaker 1: of course, but we do basketball and football throughout the year.
- 6:28Speaker 1: College football is coming right around the corner in a
- 6:31Speaker 1: couple of months. It can be found on Spotify, Apple Podcast, iHeartRadio,
- 6:37Speaker 1: Google Podcasts, Amazon Music, and more. While you're at it,
- 6:42Speaker 1: head on over to Oops, head on over to the
- 6:44Speaker 1: gruelingtoth dot Com, east Side Boxing and Phil Boxing. While

- 7:12Speaker 1: ninety nine that locks you in for twenty four months.
- 7:17Speaker 1: The Choice Package still a deal. Saved thirty dollars the
- 7:20Speaker 1: first month fifty nine to ninety nine. That includes FanDuel
- 7:23Speaker 1: and the SEC Network. The Ultimate package still a deal
- 7:27Speaker 1: features over one hundred and sixty channels eighty nine to
- 7:29Speaker 1: ninety nine for the first month. Okay, so there's that
- 7:35Speaker 1: DirecTV stream. All right, so let's get into this, shall we.
- 7:43Speaker 1: JCC Junior was a no show, right, you know, I
- 7:51Speaker 1: heard about the news of him being in rehab not
- 7:54Speaker 1: long ago. Hopefully that goes great for him, not just good,
- 7:59Speaker 1: but great. You know, there's plenty of stuff to say
- 8:03Speaker 1: about both of these main events fighters, but and there's
- 8:09Speaker 1: plenty of things that dog on, you know, Junior four.
- 8:13Speaker 1: But when it comes to that type of stuff, man,
- 8:16Speaker 1: I hope all is well with him. He got a
- 8:19Speaker 1: payday here, hopefully he can figure that part out. But
- 8:25Speaker 1: and I gotta say, like, look, looking at the scale,
- 8:27Speaker 1: he didn't look he didn't look that bad. I gotta admit,
- 8:32Speaker 1: I gotta admit, but he just was a no show.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Besides the two first rounds, it was kind of like
- 8:39Speaker 1: our last rounds to first last two rounds, especially the
- 8:42Speaker 1: last one, but the last two kind of remind me
- 8:46Speaker 1: of that didn't do shit against Canelo, didn't do really shit.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Against Martinez until he hurt him late. But either way,
- 8:56Speaker 1: the jab by Jake Paul, the body shots kind of
- 9:00Speaker 1: mixing movement on the outside with some pressure, landing a
- 9:04Speaker 1: few nice you know right hands here and there, but
- 9:07Speaker 1: really the jab and the body work, you know, adding
- 9:10Speaker 1: a hook here and there, adding the right hand somewhere,
- 9:16Speaker 1: like I don't know, it just kind of it just
- 9:20Speaker 1: fell into a pattern right away, and he you know,
- 9:24Speaker 1: he just wasn't doing shit. JCC Jr. I'd say maybe
- 9:29Speaker 1: sixth seventh round the uppercut. I think it was a
- 9:33Speaker 1: right uppercut if I remember correctly, by h Jake Paul.
- 9:38Speaker 1: He started adding that to his repertoire. And you know,
- 9:43Speaker 1: like it was either Paul on the outside jabbing pot
- 9:49Speaker 1: shotting with the right hand moving pretty well or pressing
- 9:55Speaker 1: you know, Junior back and him not doing much. So
- 10:02Speaker 1: now you know he finally did something, landing big shots
- 10:06Speaker 1: in the ninth and the tenth, like I said, but
- 10:11Speaker 1: it was far too little and far too late for
- 10:14Speaker 1: that shit like it was. It was bad, dude. I
- 10:17Speaker 1: mean there's bad and then there's that. You know that
- 10:20Speaker 1: it was bad. I'd say it's worse than I thought,
- 10:24Speaker 1: Like I understand, like doing your thing for a little
- 10:29Speaker 1: bit and letting them kind of gas out or whatever,
- 10:33Speaker 1: you know. And by the way, there were times where
- 10:37Speaker 1: this is the first ten rounder correct for for Jake,
- 10:42Speaker 1: So there were some times where he looked tired, you know,
- 10:46Speaker 1: and that's normal for a prospect to go ten rounds
- 10:50Speaker 1: for his first time. But job is I mean, when
- 10:55Speaker 1: you look at the overall punches and I'm just gonna
- 10:57Speaker 1: go round by round four punches thrown, seven punches thrown,
- 11:00Speaker 1: three punches thrown. He was all the way up to
- 11:03Speaker 1: twelve in the fourth round, ten, sixteen, eleven, then finally
- 11:08Speaker 1: twenty five, thirty five and thirty one. He landed sixty
- 11:14Speaker 1: one shots and the whole fucking thing sixty seven tou
- 11:17Speaker 1: was seventeen to the body, like the jab, you know,
- 11:23Speaker 1: sixty five to eight, seventy five to fifty. Just it's
- 11:26Speaker 1: not even worth going through the shit, even though I did,
- 11:30Speaker 1: you know, it was just bad, clearly, like that's that's
- 11:36Speaker 1: not really you know, saying a whole lot, right, Yeah, man,
- 11:42Speaker 1: it was just a no show, which he no showed
- 11:46Speaker 1: for you know, other fights when he was in his prime,
- 11:52Speaker 1: or just a little laughter, you know, his Prime, but
- 11:55Speaker 1: he's old now and uh so I get why he
- 11:58Speaker 1: was an opponent, but it was just a no show.
- 12:02Speaker 1: And credit to Jake Paul. He did do his thing.
- 12:05Speaker 1: He didn't get the knockout. But it's not like, you know,
- 12:09Speaker 1: you can just knock out. You could say a lot
- 12:12Speaker 1: of things like I said, I keep saying about j C. C. Junior,
- 12:15Speaker 1: But you don't just knock him out, you know. But
- 12:20Speaker 1: as far as Jake, you know, like as a prospect,
- 12:23Speaker 1: he does have some skill level man, and we just
- 12:27Speaker 1: have to see it against better fighters. I know that
- 12:33Speaker 1: potentially he had something injury wise, you know whatever against
- 12:39Speaker 1: Tommy Feury. He looked like shit in that fight. Is
- 12:44Speaker 1: he a better fighter than then? Yeah? Is he a
- 12:46Speaker 1: better fighter to like beat Fury Tommy Fiery? Maybe now?
- 12:51Speaker 1: Because how many how much improvement has Feary made, I
- 12:55Speaker 1: don't know, but he does have to start proving it
- 12:59Speaker 1: at some point against the higher level opponent. And you
- 13:04Speaker 1: know he's he's being moved. Just fine for me, because
- 13:13Speaker 1: you know, it was a gimmick for a while. It
- 13:15Speaker 1: still has gimmick five to it, of course, but he
- 13:20Speaker 1: does have some skill and for a guy who didn't
- 13:23Speaker 1: fight since he was ten. He's got a good jabb
- 13:26Speaker 1: you know, he is starting to show better skills. It
- 13:31Speaker 1: looks like he can take a good punch. We'll see ultimately,
- 13:35Speaker 1: right And so you know, like I remember watching a
- 13:43Speaker 1: chunk of years ago with my nephews when they had
- 13:47Speaker 1: that that that co feature fight. I think it was
- 13:50Speaker 1: KSI right in Logan Paul and he was on the
- 13:54Speaker 1: co feature and right away because they had they wanted me,
- 13:58Speaker 1: they had watched it, and when I got up.
- 14:00Speaker 3: There, because they live kind of further north, even though
- 14:05Speaker 3: people that I know from around the country say, oh,
- 14:08Speaker 3: you're going up north, further north than Minnesota, but yeah.
- 14:11Speaker 1: They live a little higher in the state. Let's say
- 14:14Speaker 1: I went up there, the fight had already happened, and
- 14:17Speaker 1: then they wanted me to score it, you know, so
- 14:19Speaker 1: I scored it whatever. But I was like, dude, Jake's
- 14:22Speaker 1: a way better fighter than, you know, than his brother.
- 14:25Speaker 1: And I guarantee if they ever thought he'd beat him.
- 14:28Speaker 1: But you can tell he had some he had something
- 14:31Speaker 1: to him, you know. And I've always given Jake, you know,
- 14:36Speaker 1: credit for really training and trying to become a fighter,
- 14:42Speaker 1: professional fighter, and I get why he did the gimmick stuff.
- 14:46Speaker 1: And remember before these fights, even in old old Anderson
- 14:50Speaker 1: Silva and you know, other guys like Diez and you
- 14:55Speaker 1: know whatever. It's like a lot of people would kept
- 15:00Speaker 1: discrediting him. But if you look at what they were
- 15:02Speaker 1: saying prior to the fight, then why'd you think he
- 15:07Speaker 1: was gonna lose? Then? You know, so you gotta give
- 15:12Speaker 1: credit where credit to deserve. Now you can't be like, oh, dude,
- 15:15Speaker 1: he beats Canelo. Bro Canelo's past his prime, So Jake
- 15:18Speaker 1: beats him. Nah, Canello fucks him up. Ramiraz Gilberto who
- 15:23Speaker 1: didn't live all that great, he'd fuck him up. Like,
- 15:28Speaker 1: let's not mix words there. Like he he's not a
- 15:32Speaker 1: top ten guy. Now it sounds like he's gonna be ranked.
- 15:36Speaker 1: You know, within the range is top ten, top fifteen.
- 15:39Speaker 1: I think you gotta be top fifteen if someone has
- 15:41Speaker 1: a belt. But you know, like as a prospect, he's
- 15:49Speaker 1: got he's got something going on, dude, he's not just now.
- 15:53Speaker 1: We got to see though. You know, you can look
- 15:56Speaker 1: good jabbing and moving and all that, and I like
- 16:00Speaker 1: how he finds open targets, he goes to the body
- 16:02Speaker 1: and whatnot. But we got to see against better fighters
- 16:08Speaker 1: closer to their prime, and that's where that is. Has
- 16:13Speaker 1: he brought eyeballs from MMA to an extent in those fights?
- 16:18Speaker 1: Has he brought some youth to boxing for certain reasons? Yeah?
- 16:23Speaker 1: Has he transformed the sport and now that youth just
- 16:26Speaker 1: love boxing? No, but he hasn't been bad for boxing.
- 16:32Speaker 1: And a lot of people gave John and I shit
- 16:35Speaker 1: when you know, we thought Canelos should have fought him
- 16:39Speaker 1: in May and knocked his ass out, fucked him up
- 16:44Speaker 1: on Netflix. That would have been a great cash out,
- 16:48Speaker 1: great cash out for Jake too, by the way, but
- 16:51Speaker 1: at some point a boxer has to fuck him up,
- 16:56Speaker 1: and so why not then? And then go to the
- 16:58Speaker 1: Crawford fight, And we got a bunch of shit for it.
- 17:00Speaker 1: But what'd you think of Canello's fight? You know, was
- 17:04Speaker 1: that a good fight? And I'm not blaming just him
- 17:07Speaker 1: in that fight because clearly that wasn't you know, his opponent,
- 17:10Speaker 1: his opponent shouldn't have been in the ring with him though,
- 17:13Speaker 1: you know, so I don't think it was that crazy.
- 17:17Speaker 1: And either way, Goodwin we'll see. You know, if he
- 17:23Speaker 1: thought Gilbert were Miruz, I would give him a ton
- 17:26Speaker 1: of credit, because even though, Gilbert, and we'll get to
- 17:30Speaker 1: it here. Gilberto did I just say Gilbert, Gilberto didn't
- 17:35Speaker 1: Zerto didn't you know, he didn't look at all that good.
- 17:38Speaker 1: He looked he looks, you know, he's gone up and
- 17:40Speaker 1: wait and it seems like his body keeps looking worse,
- 17:45Speaker 1: you know, as as he goes up. He didn'tn't look
- 17:48Speaker 1: in tiptop shape. Let's get to that fight though. So yeah, Jake,
- 17:53Speaker 1: he did his thing. Like I said, I think he's
- 17:55Speaker 1: somewhat limited, but he's better than people think. That's not
- 17:59Speaker 1: the say I'd have him as a top ten cruiser,
- 18:03Speaker 1: you know, I'm just saying that I wouldn't step them
- 18:09Speaker 1: up to Gilberto next. I get why he'd fight Canelo though,
- 18:15Speaker 1: because that would be a huge pit anyway, Let's uh,
- 18:21Speaker 1: let's do the zerto Dorticos, Dordico's, Dortiko's. I'm not gonna
- 18:27Speaker 1: say anything else there. I gave Dordiko's the first three
- 18:32Speaker 1: out of the first four rounds. I liked what he
- 18:37Speaker 1: was doing with the body, the right hands to the
- 18:40Speaker 1: head in the body, but just overall, you know, I
- 18:42Speaker 1: thought he was landing the better lands. I was landing
- 18:46Speaker 1: the better lands you could tell I've been off for
- 18:47Speaker 1: a little bit, but I just thought he was landing
- 18:51Speaker 1: better in general, right in the first and second round,
- 18:55Speaker 1: third round, some really nice left hooks in early pressure
- 19:01Speaker 1: from Ramirez, and I thought he was, like I thought
- 19:04Speaker 1: he was defending himself better at that point. Uh, Dorkos
- 19:09Speaker 1: did atlant his jab, which was stiff like pretty much
- 19:12Speaker 1: the whole fight, and then a few rights, but I
- 19:14Speaker 1: did give Ramirez the third the fourth it started to
- 19:18Speaker 1: like be a pretty good strap here in the exchanges.
- 19:20Speaker 1: I think in the middle of the fourth round, really
- 19:23Speaker 1: good exchanges, heavy shots by Ramirez or I mean, yeah,
- 19:28Speaker 1: with Ramirez on the ropes, like in the last minute.
- 19:31Speaker 1: I think Ramirez was on the ropes at times in
- 19:33Speaker 1: this fight too long. I think there was a strategy
- 19:36Speaker 1: to it, though. And then once the fifth round hit.
- 19:42Speaker 1: You know, not that I didn't give any rooms to Dordikos,
- 19:46Speaker 1: but you know, this is where Ramirez stepped it up
- 19:50Speaker 1: in Dordikos did do good in the early round of
- 19:54Speaker 1: the fifth, but the better like the counters with the
- 19:58Speaker 1: left hook, you know, right hand, whether it was to
- 20:03Speaker 1: the body or head, was there, you know, so so
- 20:07Speaker 1: I thought I thought it was really good, but I
- 20:11Speaker 1: thought I think the left filt counters were the best
- 20:13Speaker 1: in the fifth round though, a steady, steady jab in
- 20:17Speaker 1: the sixth though, along with right hands that landed to
- 20:21Speaker 1: the head and body as well by dorticals. I gave
- 20:24Speaker 1: him the sixth and there was a nice left hook
- 20:28Speaker 1: in there too, but overall Ramirez started layding a better shot,
- 20:33Speaker 1: even if he wasn't necessarily throwing more or landing more
- 20:39Speaker 1: at times in the seventh competitive round. In the eighth
- 20:46Speaker 1: but I gave it to Ramirez. That's the I think
- 20:48Speaker 1: that's the round where prior to the beginning of the
- 20:52Speaker 1: round his corner was like take a break, and it's like, well,
- 20:55Speaker 1: you do have a lead on the card, but I
- 20:57Speaker 1: don't know about taking a break. You know. There was
- 21:00Speaker 1: a point deducted in the tenth, so I gave him
- 21:02Speaker 1: the ninth to Ramirez. I gave him every round after that,
- 21:06Speaker 1: eight through twelve, I gave everyone to Ramirez, So eight
- 21:10Speaker 1: to four, maybe seven to five, seven four one or something,
- 21:14Speaker 1: but it was one seventeen, one, ten and two one
- 21:16Speaker 1: fifteen one twelves. The point deduction for a low blow,
- 21:20Speaker 1: which he had been warned in the tenth round. Ramirez
- 21:23Speaker 1: just you know, like I said, I thought he improved
- 21:26Speaker 1: his defense a little bit, uh Dordicos. Dortico's was starting
- 21:32Speaker 1: to get back, you know, backed up a little bit
- 21:34Speaker 1: and just kind of faded. But like I said, he
- 21:38Speaker 1: fought really well and it was a I thought it
- 21:40Speaker 1: was a pretty entertaining scrap overall good fight, especially in moments.
- 21:47Speaker 1: So I will say this though, Ramirez, you know, he
- 21:52Speaker 1: didn't look all that great. I do have to admit that,
- 21:58Speaker 1: but you know, it could have just in this fight
- 22:01Speaker 1: how he wanted to, you know, how he wanted to fight. Now,
- 22:06Speaker 1: you know, should he take on the Lineal Chat or
- 22:09Speaker 1: should he try to get a fight with Jake. I'd
- 22:11Speaker 1: try to fight Jake because it's gonna be more money,
- 22:16Speaker 1: and I know that's like well legacy for Lineal. Yeah,
- 22:19Speaker 1: but he ain't beaten. He's not gonna win that fight,
- 22:24Speaker 1: and so you could make the argument, you know, that
- 22:28Speaker 1: he just beat Jake Paul and then he can go
- 22:30Speaker 1: for Linear. But you know that's my take, Girdle. He
- 22:34Speaker 1: looked okay. You know, I think it was a little
- 22:38Speaker 1: strategic thinking that he's gonna wear his opponent down, but
- 22:42Speaker 1: also strategic where he didn't want to get too tired early.
- 22:47Speaker 1: You know, we're so used to seeing him, you know,
- 22:51Speaker 1: as he came up, just in general of being such
- 22:53Speaker 1: an aggressive fighter. But of late there's been some boxing
- 22:57Speaker 1: going on, some that you're like, all right, that's pretty good,
- 23:01Speaker 1: and others you're like, eah, I don't think that's gonna
- 23:03Speaker 1: work on the high level. But either way, Zerdo did
- 23:05Speaker 1: get the win. That Rodriguez Griffith fight. Ooh, that was great.
- 23:13Speaker 1: You know. There was a knockdown in that eighth and
- 23:16Speaker 1: for him to come back in the ninth Rodriguez with
- 23:19Speaker 1: a huge left hand and a right I think it
- 23:22Speaker 1: was a left and a right hand in the ninth
- 23:26Speaker 1: had him hurt big, big, but with like twenty seconds
- 23:31Speaker 1: left or something like that huge right hand and then
- 23:36Speaker 1: knocked him out damn near out of the ring. That
- 23:40Speaker 1: was a great, great win by Rodriguez. Dude, that was
- 23:45Speaker 1: that was a good fight, man. Like I think there
- 23:49Speaker 1: was a line there that I can't I think it
- 23:55Speaker 1: was Grisham who said, you know, when the fights kind
- 23:59Speaker 1: of aw, it's pretty slow, but when it gets good, man,
- 24:02Speaker 1: it's pretty damn good. And I'd have to agree with
- 24:05Speaker 1: that because it is it seemed like Griffin, you know,
- 24:13Speaker 1: it just kind of seemed like he had a bad start.
- 24:16Speaker 1: I would, I think, looking at my scorecard, I get
- 24:18Speaker 1: you know, I didn't give him many in the first
- 24:19Speaker 1: six rounds. But then he started coming on and you know,
- 24:26Speaker 1: the seventh round, obviously the eighth he knocked him down,
- 24:30Speaker 1: and so you're like, oh, wow, like this is a
- 24:32Speaker 1: this is a damn good fight. And when it did
- 24:37Speaker 1: get competitive, man, I liked it. And so Rodriguez to
- 24:40Speaker 1: be down, you know in the eighth and come right
- 24:44Speaker 1: back hurt him and then you know, obviously to get
- 24:49Speaker 1: to do what he did to knock him out like
- 24:52Speaker 1: that in dramatic fashion. Man, that was that was something
- 24:56Speaker 1: that was. That was a fun fight. Man. I really
- 24:59Speaker 1: liked it. Like I said, he damn near knocked him
- 25:01Speaker 1: out of the ring, and Griffin fought pretty damn good.
- 25:05Speaker 1: I thought that was that was pretty fun. That was
- 25:08Speaker 1: that was a good scrap man. And you you know,
- 25:11Speaker 1: when you have that dramatic stuff happen. I don't know,
- 25:16Speaker 1: it's just it's just fun in a stupid, silly way.
- 25:19Speaker 1: It is just fun. You know. I think like it's
- 25:23Speaker 1: just it's just drama and and when you get stuff
- 25:27Speaker 1: like that happening, it just it just adds so much
- 25:30Speaker 1: to the sport and it just it kind of reminds
- 25:33Speaker 1: you why I love the sport. Now, he wasn't way
- 25:38Speaker 1: down on the scorecards or something and then dramatically pulled
- 25:41Speaker 1: it out. But it looked like the fight had shift shifted,
- 25:45Speaker 1: and because it had, but you know that that was fun.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Reneelverado ran over Victor morales Man. I mean, how many
- 25:55Speaker 1: realms could you give Victor? One? Maybe two? Like that
- 25:59Speaker 1: was impressive. I didn't see that coming, Holly Holme. I mean,
- 26:06Speaker 1: one sided, easy decision. Now, you know she was a
- 26:12Speaker 1: big favorite. But you start to go, huh, maybe you know,
- 26:15Speaker 1: like I don't know, dude, you know, like maybe maybe
- 26:20Speaker 1: she's just is she when's the last fight you had?
- 26:22Speaker 1: And you start to go and to your head a
- 26:24Speaker 1: little bit like hmmm, like I don't know, you know,
- 26:30Speaker 1: But either way, she did her thing, like real clean,
- 26:35Speaker 1: easy win for her. Oh yeah, and who else? Who
- 26:43Speaker 1: else fun on that? Carl? Let me look at the
- 26:45Speaker 1: oh cull that he he what was it the fourth
- 26:49Speaker 1: round or something like that? That was yeah, that was
- 26:53Speaker 1: that was a good win for him. So yeah, it overall, like,
- 27:01Speaker 1: you know, I thought that was pretty good. But I
- 27:03Speaker 1: was surprised that Alvarado had you know, like did what
- 27:09Speaker 1: he did what he did, you know, I really was
- 27:12Speaker 1: I was surprised on that. I didn't think that that's
- 27:16Speaker 1: how that would go down. I really have to admit that.
- 27:21Speaker 1: And he he's the league one, like simple now Raoul
- 27:26Speaker 1: Kirell he what was it the fourth round, I believe
- 27:33Speaker 1: beat Rodriguez. I mean he just you know, he won
- 27:40Speaker 1: it pretty cleanly. Was a good fight though, like these
- 27:43Speaker 1: dudes were, you know, in a short amount of time.
- 27:47Speaker 1: These guys were going at it, and you know, Rodriguez
- 27:52Speaker 1: was busy, he was he maybe not been as accurate,
- 27:57Speaker 1: not even close, but he was thrown. So it was
- 28:00Speaker 1: a spirited fight how it lasted. And Raoul Krell beat
- 28:03Speaker 1: Victor almost Rodriguez. So that was that was pretty good.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Also that I think it's brad Ree and Pitters, Re Pitters,
- 28:15Speaker 1: Rea Rhea Pitters. That was a good little scrap dude.
- 28:19Speaker 1: I did like that fight, and I'm just kind of
- 28:23Speaker 1: that wasn't on that card. Just kind of overall talking
- 28:27Speaker 1: about it. Basically, I think that you know that that
- 28:35Speaker 1: had that had some good action to it that definitely
- 28:38Speaker 1: had some good action to it. So also on the
- 28:47Speaker 1: card or just from the weekend, I'll start to just
- 28:51Speaker 1: talk about the weekend whatever. Floyd's Goodfield and Tevin Farman,
- 28:57Speaker 1: Now I did, you know, on the surface like this fight.
- 29:02Speaker 1: I did because I was like, all right, dude, like
- 29:05Speaker 1: you know, we've seen a resurgence. I would have to
- 29:11Speaker 1: say from Tevin Farmer and Schofield, you know, had the
- 29:22Speaker 1: fight lined up with Shakur made, you know, allegations that
- 29:28Speaker 1: he got poisoned and stuff like that. I thought that
- 29:32Speaker 1: was really far fetched. Some folks are like, yeah, maybe
- 29:34Speaker 1: he's right. I don't know about that, but I do
- 29:37Speaker 1: think it's funny though. But he did his thing, dude,
- 29:42Speaker 1: Like I liked how he was like early like land
- 29:48Speaker 1: in some punches, right, but circling him like like a
- 29:52Speaker 1: little quick little punches circle, you know, like I did.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Because the thing is he did for me have that
- 30:00Speaker 1: Sean Porter thing where he smothers and he's out of
- 30:03Speaker 1: control and is I don't think he'll ever have like
- 30:06Speaker 1: high level defense, but if he can do the little
- 30:09Speaker 1: things like use distance and you know, be at range
- 30:13Speaker 1: but just out of range, you know, at the at
- 30:16Speaker 1: the edge of the pocket sometimes and circle and and
- 30:19Speaker 1: switch it up. Then I think he's a very dangerous spider.
- 30:24Speaker 1: And you know, right off the bat, like I said,
- 30:27Speaker 1: he lands these little quick combos and then you know,
- 30:31Speaker 1: and then circle and so pretty much early jab right
- 30:35Speaker 1: hand down and I'm like, oh shit, okay, we got
- 30:39Speaker 1: a little scrap here. Holy shit, like this is or
- 30:43Speaker 1: we don't have a scrap, you know, And I think farmer,
- 30:48Speaker 1: I kind of thought that he popped up on the
- 30:52Speaker 1: first one, okay, I thought he could have probably taken
- 30:55Speaker 1: his time in the second one. The second one was
- 30:58Speaker 1: like left and right hooks, just short, little fast ones
- 31:02Speaker 1: that landed like especially two of them dropped them again.
- 31:06Speaker 1: And I did think Tevin could have could have hung
- 31:08Speaker 1: out a little bit. Now, you you know, you don't
- 31:11Speaker 1: want to wait. You always talk about that throughout the year,
- 31:14Speaker 1: because when we see a fighter get up at like nine,
- 31:17Speaker 1: it's like, hey, dude, you're you're putting yourself in a
- 31:20Speaker 1: bad scenario. So I thought he should have stayed down
- 31:23Speaker 1: a little bit. But then a big left hook basically
- 31:31Speaker 1: like it didn't drop him, but he was for a
- 31:34Speaker 1: moment there he was defenseless, like he he his arms
- 31:40Speaker 1: were kind of wide open and his head was down.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Like I said, he didn't go down, but there was
- 31:47Speaker 1: a clean shot in their left hook that you know,
- 31:50Speaker 1: his head down, his legs looked, you know, they look shaky.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Were they completely gone? I don't think they were gone gone?
- 31:59Speaker 1: But he was done, dude. Now he didn't like to
- 32:02Speaker 1: stop it. Shots out to Tevin Farmer, I get it.
- 32:05Speaker 1: But he was done, dude. And when you when you
- 32:08Speaker 1: go down twice like that so early, and we all
- 32:12Speaker 1: know you can get caught early cold right in the
- 32:16Speaker 1: first round. We get it. We'll see if this is
- 32:20Speaker 1: kind of ultimately what happened, you know, but this is
- 32:26Speaker 1: a great performance. And when your head's down, looking down
- 32:32Speaker 1: in your arm, your guard is not there, you're defenseless
- 32:35Speaker 1: and you and so I didn't mind the stoppage whatsoever,
- 32:39Speaker 1: but I get it, you're not down. In some fighters,
- 32:42Speaker 1: it's hard to just knock them out at times, right,
- 32:44Speaker 1: and so, but shots out to Floyd Scholfield. He did
- 32:49Speaker 1: his thing. You know, early on he was aggressive, but
- 32:53Speaker 1: I thought it was like smart pressure with the circling
- 32:56Speaker 1: and all that, and like getting his combo off and
- 32:59Speaker 1: then you know, showing a little movement, you know. So, yeah,
- 33:06Speaker 1: that that was it. I didn't I didn't see that coming.
- 33:08Speaker 1: I admit, I put I had that plus money. I
- 33:12Speaker 1: had plus money, you know, for for a farmer, I
- 33:17Speaker 1: have to admit. So shouts out to Floyd Schofield. Man,
- 33:23Speaker 1: we'll see where he goes, you know, next. But that
- 33:26Speaker 1: was a big ass win. And we know Farmers not
- 33:31Speaker 1: in his prime, but what he's been doing lately, dude,
- 33:35Speaker 1: he's not that far, you know, He's not all the
- 33:38Speaker 1: way down that hill. As far as being over the hill,
- 33:40Speaker 1: we know that. So we'll see if far you know,
- 33:45Speaker 1: farmer keeps going and whatnot. Like I said, he had
- 33:48Speaker 1: a nice little resurrection. I don't want to take any
- 33:50Speaker 1: credit away from you know, Schofield, but that was a
- 33:56Speaker 1: damn good performance. I really, really, really really liked what
- 34:00Speaker 1: I saw out of him. That was. That was damn good.
- 34:04Speaker 1: That was good. Anyway, I just found my scorecard. I
- 34:10Speaker 1: had it seven to five for that fight. I was
- 34:13Speaker 1: telling you about the Rhea and pitters. It's like a
- 34:16Speaker 1: one seventy five fight. Like the good chunk of the
- 34:22Speaker 1: first round, the body work and just just the first
- 34:28Speaker 1: part of the fight was rare. And he uh, you know,
- 34:33Speaker 1: he he definitely was doing his thing, you know, but
- 34:40Speaker 1: you know, I think Pitters was a he started so
- 34:44Speaker 1: damn slow, but then the fight was kind of it
- 34:50Speaker 1: kind of moved the fifth and sixth round, it kind
- 34:52Speaker 1: of moved inside, and you know it, he started to
- 35:01Speaker 1: you know, he started to kind of do something there then,
- 35:04Speaker 1: you know what I mean. But it was just a
- 35:07Speaker 1: fun fight. It was a good scrap, you know, it
- 35:12Speaker 1: was it was competitive. It's definitely worth a watch, you know,
- 35:16Speaker 1: if he didn't see it. So the Christian and Billy
- 35:24Speaker 1: and Sue Lecky, you know, what can you say? It
- 35:29Speaker 1: was like first round over you know, it's like two minutes.
- 35:34Speaker 1: I can't even remember two minutes something. He just he
- 35:40Speaker 1: just ran over him. Now, Sue Lecky, you know it's
- 35:43Speaker 1: not loose Sue Lecky from a while back. I will
- 35:46Speaker 1: say that that's obvious. That's clearly obvious. But you know
- 35:52Speaker 1: it's it's still like, hey man, like you know, like
- 35:56Speaker 1: he's okay. He hasn't been like he did fight earlier
- 36:00Speaker 1: this year. He fought I think twice last year because yeah,
- 36:06Speaker 1: he fought uh diego checko if I remember correctly last year.
- 36:11Speaker 1: So you know, this was a stay busy fight, and
- 36:16Speaker 1: Billy's been having an issue getting big fights. You know,
- 36:22Speaker 1: he's staying active. Shouts out to him. I really hope that,
- 36:26Speaker 1: you know, the next fight that seems lined up gets
- 36:30Speaker 1: lined up. The or or b Bio or Bio John
- 36:38Speaker 1: o'baro or Bio. I think it is. He looked damn
- 36:41Speaker 1: good in his little you know, in his in the
- 36:47Speaker 1: fight that he had. I guess you could say Macmodoff
- 36:52Speaker 1: as well. That was pretty pretty basic there. But in Billy,
- 36:58Speaker 1: you know, there's just not a whole lot to talk
- 36:59Speaker 1: about as far as breaking it down and all that.
- 37:04Speaker 1: So you know, I'm not gonna not gonna go out
- 37:07Speaker 1: of my way to to break too much of that down.
- 37:10Speaker 1: But you know, I just hope that he gets a
- 37:14Speaker 1: big fight next. Wilder got what a seventh round TKO.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Like I said, there's positives and there's still some negatives.
- 37:29Speaker 1: You know. The positive is his jab, you know, whether
- 37:36Speaker 1: it's a you know, not a high level opponent, right, Okay,
- 37:42Speaker 1: that's fair because it wasn't. But he did the jab
- 37:45Speaker 1: look good. The jab did look good now like the
- 37:52Speaker 1: and he did actually throw some left hooks. But the
- 37:56Speaker 1: time his timing and pulling the trigger and land the
- 38:00Speaker 1: the right hand. It just it seems like it's still
- 38:04Speaker 1: not there. And like I said, I like some stuff
- 38:11Speaker 1: out of it. I thought he was throwing other punches
- 38:15Speaker 1: rather than just trying to land the bomb. And even
- 38:17Speaker 1: when he was, he jabbed some fight some other fights
- 38:20Speaker 1: he didn't. It was always like a patient waiting game
- 38:23Speaker 1: with him anyway, right, But when those openings present themselves,
- 38:29Speaker 1: it just doesn't seem like he's landing his right hand cleaning.
- 38:33Speaker 1: It's not that he doesn't, it doesn't seem like he's not.
- 38:36Speaker 1: You know, he's not. So the combination of he just
- 38:42Speaker 1: can't pull the trigger with the timing on it, and
- 38:45Speaker 1: then you know, so there was some positives, but the
- 38:49Speaker 1: negative is that and then the punch resistance. We know
- 38:53Speaker 1: it's it's it looks gone to me, it's it looks
- 38:56Speaker 1: it looks like it's been gone for a little while now,
- 38:58Speaker 1: you know it Finally those fury fights, ah, you know,
- 39:04Speaker 1: or cheez fights like he gave us a lot of
- 39:07Speaker 1: action fights, man. So you know, if he's gonna continue,
- 39:13Speaker 1: should he just go right to a j I mean,
- 39:16Speaker 1: if he wants, But it does sound like you know
- 39:19Speaker 1: he's gonna have at least one more fight, So I mean,
- 39:25Speaker 1: I don't know, like as a fan, what I prefer
- 39:30Speaker 1: him just to walk away with a win. Yeah, of course,
- 39:32Speaker 1: but this is boxing, and you don't always get what
- 39:36Speaker 1: you want as a fan when you come through when
- 39:38Speaker 1: you're you know, a fight that especially you know a
- 39:41Speaker 1: fighter you'll really like. So we'll see, you know, will
- 39:46Speaker 1: he will the next fight be this level of competition?
- 39:51Speaker 1: I kind of hope not because I think it does
- 39:54Speaker 1: have to be somewhat of a step up, but working
- 40:00Speaker 1: on some stuff. I think you can work on stuff
- 40:03Speaker 1: when you're older. How much is that really gonna happen
- 40:06Speaker 1: when push comes a shove or you know, he gets
- 40:09Speaker 1: the punch, resistance comes into play. Probably probably not a
- 40:13Speaker 1: whole lot. But I will say the positivity of the jab,
- 40:18Speaker 1: that's that's my biggest thing, is the job I did.
- 40:21Speaker 1: I did see him throwing it more. But we'll see,
- 40:25Speaker 1: you know what I mean, ultimately, we'll see now real quick,
- 40:30Speaker 1: the jaw here job the Tucker Simpson, right, this is
- 40:35Speaker 1: a little bit ago. Tucker did his thing. You know, Simpson,
- 40:40Speaker 1: amateur guy, hasn't really you know, done a whole lot
- 40:44Speaker 1: Beyond that, I did like how Tucker was kind of
- 40:48Speaker 1: you know, jabbing and boxing nicely on the outside, but
- 40:52Speaker 1: then you know, adding some pressure in there and you
- 40:59Speaker 1: know it. I liked how he's ducking or dodging, you know,
- 41:03Speaker 1: using his feed a little bit after landing Simpson. You know,
- 41:08Speaker 1: at time, I think like in the third round, looking
- 41:10Speaker 1: at my scorecard, he did laying a couple of good
- 41:12Speaker 1: shots on the inside and it definitely started to be
- 41:16Speaker 1: more on the inside in that round. But the fourth
- 41:18Speaker 1: and fifth it was more like stick and move and
- 41:23Speaker 1: you know, really nice left hands started landing pretty flush.
- 41:29Speaker 1: But like in the eighth round, in the ninth round
- 41:32Speaker 1: and in the early eighth through tenth there was like
- 41:37Speaker 1: some good back and forth but not not too crazy.
- 41:42Speaker 1: You know. Malechi, by the way, did his thing, but
- 41:46Speaker 1: it was a good win by by Tucker. Good win
- 41:49Speaker 1: by Tucker. I liked what I saw out of him.
- 41:55Speaker 1: And then Brian Norman Junior against uh Saki, not really
- 42:03Speaker 1: like right away left hook boom dropped him. Left hooks
- 42:07Speaker 1: and right hands, you know, the last minute, I'll say
- 42:12Speaker 1: Sasaki though, you know, shots out to him, dude, because
- 42:16Speaker 1: he was he was landing some stuff back, dude, like
- 42:22Speaker 1: he was. He was in there trying right, but some
- 42:28Speaker 1: heavy shots even though like even in the sixth round
- 42:32Speaker 1: or sorry, the second round, Sasaki's found a way to
- 42:36Speaker 1: close with good shots, but the right hand just overall,
- 42:39Speaker 1: but the right hand of the body was adding up,
- 42:43Speaker 1: just throwing bombs on him, you know, especially just repeatedly
- 42:50Speaker 1: right hands, and you know, once again Saki throwing back,
- 42:57Speaker 1: actually egging him on, like come on, dude, what else
- 42:59Speaker 1: do you have have? You know, but a nasty left
- 43:03Speaker 1: hook knocks out Sasaki cold, and it sounded like he
- 43:08Speaker 1: didn't remember like the last month. I'm not trying to
- 43:10Speaker 1: be weird about that or like, you know, laugh at
- 43:13Speaker 1: that or whatever. I'm definitely not doing that. But that's
- 43:17Speaker 1: that's what he said, you know, That's what he said.
- 43:21Speaker 1: So you know, I uh, I, you know, I thought
- 43:31Speaker 1: that was a great performance. Now, did I think, like,
- 43:36Speaker 1: you know, that he was gonna lose the fight or
- 43:40Speaker 1: something and that this was like a tough fifty to
- 43:43Speaker 1: fifty fight. No, it wasn't. But he handled business and
- 43:46Speaker 1: he looked good doing it. He looked really good doing it.
- 43:49Speaker 1: So and we're gonna talk about him later in the show.
- 43:57Speaker 1: Norman Junior and talking about also real quick, dude, Francisco
- 44:03Speaker 1: Rodriguez beat the hell out of your faire I mean,
- 44:11Speaker 1: beat the hell out of him, knocked him down. What
- 44:15Speaker 1: was it the twelfth round? Like maybe one, maybe two
- 44:20Speaker 1: rounds tops, I mean, Rodriguez beat this sh I did.
- 44:23Speaker 1: I didn't see that happen. I did not see that happen.
- 44:27Speaker 1: Took his first loss. I mean, man, I gotta say, dude,
- 44:33Speaker 1: he beat this ship. Francisco Rodriguez did his thing. Shouts
- 44:38Speaker 1: out to him, dude, spot you know, went the distance
- 44:43Speaker 1: with Knakatani Ayoka, Like he spot some dudes, man, and
- 44:48Speaker 1: like that was a great performance. I did. I thought
- 44:51Speaker 1: it would be a faire by by decision, dude. I
- 44:54Speaker 1: gotta admit. Uh Walker knocked out Tailor too. I think
- 44:59Speaker 1: it was like it was a left hook. I think
- 45:02Speaker 1: it was the seventh or eighth round something like that.
- 45:06Speaker 1: And that was, you know, kind of an interesting fight there.
- 45:09Speaker 1: Uh mcgrail and Baluta. That was a that was a
- 45:13Speaker 1: I think it was it was it a split or
- 45:14Speaker 1: a majority. I think it was a I think it
- 45:19Speaker 1: was a majority. Mcgrell had a pretty bad cut kind
- 45:25Speaker 1: of midway through the fight. I remember that, but yeah,
- 45:30Speaker 1: I mean, you know, as far as like should it
- 45:36Speaker 1: have been a split? Now, yeah there was drum. I
- 45:39Speaker 1: don't think there should have been, but that was an
- 45:42Speaker 1: interesting fight going in. So yeah, I mean that's about
- 45:49Speaker 1: probably all I'm gonna talk about from last week. You know,
- 45:56Speaker 1: it's still waiting to see with with Wilder, but I
- 45:59Speaker 1: just don't. I think, like I said, the timing, the
- 46:03Speaker 1: delivery mechanism, you know, the delivery to to get an
- 46:08Speaker 1: open shot. It seems like the jab and even the
- 46:10Speaker 1: left hook was there or whatever, and that's good, and
- 46:14Speaker 1: I like, you know, remember the rematch or the well
- 46:19Speaker 1: the rematch actually he was doing good in the first
- 46:21Speaker 1: two rounds, think got his assobd. But early in that
- 46:26Speaker 1: Trilogy fight he was jabbing to the body really well.
- 46:31Speaker 1: And also like the weight is more settled for him.
- 46:34Speaker 1: But yeah, I just can't. I wouldn't. I don't think
- 46:38Speaker 1: it's all negative, that's for sure, But I just I
- 46:42Speaker 1: don't see him, you know, like I said, a step
- 46:45Speaker 1: up from where he just had it, you know. Could
- 46:49Speaker 1: The thing about fighting Aj is like AJ does seem
- 46:54Speaker 1: a fair amount less washed, but we know his punch
- 46:59Speaker 1: resistant isn't great either. I don't think it's as bad
- 47:03Speaker 1: as Wilder's right now. But I could say, well, Wilder
- 47:07Speaker 1: could just knock him out, Yeah he could. But can
- 47:10Speaker 1: he land the right hand at the right time with
- 47:14Speaker 1: the timing and everything that That's what I I just
- 47:16Speaker 1: don't think he can right now, you know, I just
- 47:19Speaker 1: I just don't think he can. Ultimately, we'll see, but
- 47:28Speaker 1: I don't know. Man. So yeah, Jake Paul did his thing.
- 47:34Speaker 1: You know, Floyd Schofield had the best win. Obviously that's
- 47:39Speaker 1: not really up for debate, but as far as just
- 47:42Speaker 1: how he did it, you know what I mean, how
- 47:44Speaker 1: he did it was was pretty fucking crazy. I really, uh,
- 47:49Speaker 1: I really appreciated that because, like I said, you know,
- 47:54Speaker 1: just I don't know, like he just there's just times
- 47:59Speaker 1: WHEREUND like, I don't know about it. He got his
- 48:01Speaker 1: style and all that, I don't know, but he look good.
- 48:05Speaker 1: He looked very good. Let's see here. And you know,
- 48:11Speaker 1: Jake Paul, a lot of people have a lot to
- 48:13Speaker 1: say about him, and like I said, it's not that
- 48:16Speaker 1: there's not stuff to say about him, because there is.
- 48:19Speaker 1: But I did see Lance Pugmeyer say he was told
- 48:23Speaker 1: by the WBA Gilberto Mendoza that if Jake Paul Winston
- 48:28Speaker 1: this is prior, he will be elevated in the rankings,
- 48:32Speaker 1: making him eligible for a title shot against Ramirez ultimately.
- 48:37Speaker 1: So you know that, say what you want. But if
- 48:44Speaker 1: they did that fight, you know that that's kind of
- 48:48Speaker 1: I don't know, man, that that's kind of that'd be
- 48:51Speaker 1: a big step up. I don't think they should go
- 48:53Speaker 1: that high up, you know, I really don't. Oh, by
- 48:56Speaker 1: the way, I did get him. I'm just checking my
- 48:58Speaker 1: messages right now. That ring was silly, uh from two
- 49:03Speaker 1: weeks ago. Silly, just silly. It's just too little. It
- 49:07Speaker 1: doesn't make any sense, you know, I don't know it
- 49:13Speaker 1: was bad. I thought it was pretty bad. I thought
- 49:15Speaker 1: it was really stupid. But you know, you do what
- 49:19Speaker 1: you gotta do. You do what you gotta do. I don't,
- 49:23Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't. I thought it was really bad. Though.
- 49:26Speaker 1: I thought it was really bad. What else? Is there
- 49:31Speaker 1: anything else from last week and that I'm missing or
- 49:36Speaker 1: or the week before. I'm trying to go through my messages.
- 49:38Speaker 1: Did I miss something? I don't believe so there was
- 49:49Speaker 1: I think didn't something? Yeah? Uh? Garrido Garrido, Oh, Garrido.
- 49:58Speaker 1: He was like a ten and zero pro or something.
- 50:00Speaker 1: He got knocked. He got knocked the fuck out a
- 50:02Speaker 1: while back there. I did remember that one. Oh Brandon Lee.
- 50:07Speaker 1: Someone Uncle Pete on Twitter said Brandon Lee should go
- 50:11Speaker 1: for his postgraduate degree. He didn't look all that good.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Now we'll see if he can, uh, you know, stay active.
- 50:20Speaker 1: But he didn't look all that good. Sibby box And said,
- 50:23Speaker 1: Truck is another fighter who made noise in the amateurs
- 50:26Speaker 1: but couldn't translate it to the pro level. YEP, definitely, definitely.
- 50:36Speaker 1: Also Flemings Fleming, I think it was a body shot.
- 50:44Speaker 1: He was, you know, he looked pretty good too. Someone
- 50:48Speaker 1: sent me a message you know, about him. I think
- 50:55Speaker 1: that's about it. I think that's about all. Maybe when
- 50:59Speaker 1: I'm going to the other messages, i'll see something, but
- 51:04Speaker 1: you know, I don't know. I am. I am seeing
- 51:06Speaker 1: some messages for the you know, will we uh will
- 51:09Speaker 1: we get Gilberto Ramirez and Paul I don't know. I mean,
- 51:16Speaker 1: I don't. I don't think he's a big enough name
- 51:20Speaker 1: to where they're gonna give him enough money up you know,
- 51:23Speaker 1: I don't know. I just don't. I don't know. I
- 51:26Speaker 1: don't see it, you know, I just don't see it. Oh,
- 51:29Speaker 1: I saw this screen shot someone sent me from Jake Donovan.
- 51:33Speaker 1: Shots out to Jake right hand from Steven Butler floors. Yeah,
- 51:38Speaker 1: yeah that Butler actually, yeah, that that he was. I
- 51:42Speaker 1: did see that knockout. It just saw the highlights of it.
- 51:44Speaker 1: But that that was a good knockout, too, good shot.
- 51:47Speaker 1: Shouts out to the person that messaged me, Oh, Jean
- 51:54Speaker 1: Pascal got beat. Didn't look good. I did forget that.
- 52:01Speaker 1: That is another another one that I won't go too
- 52:05Speaker 1: deep into. Yeah, anyway, Yeah, I don't know. I'm looking
- 52:17Speaker 1: through my messages and seeing a lot of people saying,
- 52:19Speaker 1: you know, while they're going seven rounds with the guy
- 52:23Speaker 1: who Torres Junior stopped in quicker fashion, I hear that.
- 52:28Speaker 1: I hear that, it didn't really look.
- 52:31Speaker 3: Like he was going.
- 52:34Speaker 1: For the knockout right away he did. It did look
- 52:36Speaker 1: like he was, you know, figuring stuff out. Oh another one,
- 52:40Speaker 1: Joshua Edwards Prospect obviously, Yes, that was a damn good knockout.
- 52:48Speaker 1: Damn good knockout. So yeah, I think that's about it. Yeah,
- 52:59Speaker 1: that's about it. I'm trying to think, oh what, oh,
- 53:02Speaker 1: someone had asked me this is like a screenshot of Jake,
- 53:07Speaker 1: Paul and Wilder. Now, is Wilder a big enough name?
- 53:11Speaker 1: Would he still be afraid of that right hand and
- 53:13Speaker 1: not want to get into the ring or Timid with
- 53:19Speaker 1: the right hand? You know, I don't know, but that
- 53:25Speaker 1: would be a name, that would be a name to fight.
- 53:30Speaker 1: Now you also have to go back up to heavyweight,
- 53:32Speaker 1: so you know there is something to be said about that.
- 53:38Speaker 1: So but yeah, I'm getting a lot of Oh, Julian Rodriguez,
- 53:45Speaker 1: by the way, I saw this brunch boxing shots out
- 53:48Speaker 1: to the whole crew. Uh, he has Julian Rodriguez has
- 53:53Speaker 1: announced that he has signed with Dana White and Turkey
- 53:56Speaker 1: with TKO Boxing. I saw that come across the brunch
- 54:00Speaker 1: boxing timeline, So yeah, like, good for him. Man, that
- 54:10Speaker 1: was I thought that was a really good story. I
- 54:12Speaker 1: really liked that. I thought that was pretty cool. I
- 54:15Speaker 1: thought that was pretty cool. So Jack Catterall, Harlem, ew Bank,
- 54:23Speaker 1: you know, for me, I got Catterall. I don't think
- 54:29Speaker 1: that's like going out on a limb. You know, obviously
- 54:34Speaker 1: I haven't even really looked at the odds, But excuse me,
- 54:39Speaker 1: I think I don't know. I think I'm gonna go.
- 54:47Speaker 1: I think I'm gonna put money on decision Harlem. Harlem
- 54:51Speaker 1: is a good fighter. He's not like a major underdog, though.
- 54:54Speaker 1: I'm seeing him like plus two forty, you know, stuff
- 54:57Speaker 1: like that. So he's not bad. I've seen a couple
- 55:02Speaker 1: of his fights. He's not He's not really that bad. Like,
- 55:05Speaker 1: I don't, I don't. I'm not calling for like Caterall
- 55:08Speaker 1: just to fuck him up right away, you know what
- 55:10Speaker 1: I mean, Well, not even that, but like you know,
- 55:16Speaker 1: like he just I don't know, like he doesn't have
- 55:20Speaker 1: a lot of power obviously, but you bank doesn't have
- 55:22Speaker 1: a lot of power either, And you know his level
- 55:26Speaker 1: of opposition. You know, his last fight it was solid. Man.
- 55:29Speaker 1: That was like in March or whatever against McKenna. I believe, Yeah,
- 55:34Speaker 1: it was solid, it was it was good. But I
- 55:37Speaker 1: just think when you look at who he's faced, I
- 55:43Speaker 1: just I don't know, you know, I think Caterall is
- 55:45Speaker 1: gonna win by decision. I don't think he'll knock him out.
- 55:48Speaker 1: Joe Cordina win. So you got Pat Brown and Sky
- 55:57Speaker 1: Nicholson and some others on the card. But I am
- 56:00Speaker 1: going by decision Catterall. I do think that'll be the
- 56:05Speaker 1: that'll be the the bet. I haven't made the bet
- 56:11Speaker 1: just yet. In fact, I'm gonna check it right now.
- 56:13Speaker 1: But yeah, that's on the zone. I believe that's on
- 56:17Speaker 1: his own, right, Yeah, that's on his zone. Yeah they're
- 56:21Speaker 1: not gonna pay or do that, right, But yeah, that
- 56:25Speaker 1: that's you know, I don't think it's like a blow
- 56:29Speaker 1: away fight per se. Like I said, the odds are
- 56:32Speaker 1: pretty close on it, so I think it'll be competitive.
- 56:35Speaker 1: And I just think the experience a guy who can
- 56:39Speaker 1: fight on the inside and the outside with Catterall, I
- 56:43Speaker 1: just think he's a better fighter overall. Yeah, minus one
- 56:45Speaker 1: fifty three by decision. And if you wanted to back
- 56:51Speaker 1: that up, is there a pause in there? Back that Harlem?
- 57:00Speaker 1: You bank plus four to twenty for all the four
- 57:05Speaker 1: twenty bros out there, And I'm talking about four to
- 57:08Speaker 1: twenty lead. Okay, not the other thing, cause fuck those people. Anyway,
- 57:13Speaker 1: I'm getting lost here. But if you do think that
- 57:16Speaker 1: he's gonna pull the upset, you know, you could throw
- 57:19Speaker 1: a little flyer and it might be a close enough
- 57:22Speaker 1: fight where I put a little flyer out there. So
- 57:25Speaker 1: so bet minus one fifty three by decision Catterall and
- 57:28Speaker 1: then just put a little, little, little little something on
- 57:31Speaker 1: a plus four twenty, you know, not the worst bet
- 57:36Speaker 1: just to back that thing up, you know, like it
- 57:40Speaker 1: it's because I think it's close enough to where you know,
- 57:45Speaker 1: I don't know. I do think it's it's it's close
- 57:49Speaker 1: enough where you're like maybe, you know, possibly, but I
- 57:55Speaker 1: think Catterall will just come through. He's a better overall fighter.
- 57:58Speaker 1: Like I said, he's just you just been there, done that, man.
- 58:01Speaker 1: He's a He's a solid fighter. Actually, you know, I
- 58:05Speaker 1: don't look at him as some super oprated guy or
- 58:09Speaker 1: something like that. He's a good fighter. I'm not trying
- 58:13Speaker 1: to overdo it either. But I just think, you know,
- 58:16Speaker 1: he he's I wouldn't put him in his prime, but
- 58:20Speaker 1: you know, I just I don't know. I think he'll
- 58:23Speaker 1: I think he'll do it. I don't think that's uh
- 58:26Speaker 1: saying much. Okay, So Devin Haney, Ryan Norman Norman Jr.
- 58:34Speaker 1: Done deal? What is it November? Sounds like it's a big,
- 58:37Speaker 1: big card coming up in November. It's a great fight, dude,
- 58:47Speaker 1: styles make fights. This is an interesting fight. I can see,
- 58:50Speaker 1: like Devin Haney went in a lot of rounds. But
- 58:53Speaker 1: then if you're looking at a guy with the left hug,
- 58:57Speaker 1: you know, like if you look at what's going on.
- 59:02Speaker 1: I love the fight, dude. Yeah, it's in November. It
- 59:05Speaker 1: is gonna be in uh you know, part of riot season.
- 59:10Speaker 1: Saudi Arabia. And the thing is, I like to reiterate this,
- 59:13Speaker 1: of course, when you're gonna put up this money, there's
- 59:16Speaker 1: gonna be fights in Sadi, Like I don't think every
- 59:19Speaker 1: Sadi fight that's there Saudi Arabia, Like, there's gonna be
- 59:23Speaker 1: fights there, dude. But I really hope that they kind
- 59:30Speaker 1: of blend how they're blending this year moving forward, where
- 59:34Speaker 1: you do have some fights that are in the place
- 59:37Speaker 1: where they should be, and then it's a good blend
- 59:40Speaker 1: of it, you know. So you know, puncher versus boxer,
- 59:49Speaker 1: I love it. You know, I favor Norman Junior because
- 59:52Speaker 1: of the power. I think your scorecard is gonna say, damn,
- 59:56Speaker 1: Devon's winning, and then Devon's on the ground. Now will
- 59:59Speaker 1: he not him out? Knock him out? That I don't know.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: You know that, I don't know, but I do really
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: love I love it, dude. I love the fight and
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: shots out. Like I said earlier, Devin Haney, you know,
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: do your thing, dude, Like you you keep fighting some
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: solid ass fights, dude. You know it's it's a beautiful thing.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: It is a beautiful, beautiful thing. And he's doing this thing, dude,
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: and this is ballsy fight because like I mean, we know,
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: you know, he's ready to fight Tao and whatever. But
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: like and obviously you know, like Brian Garcia was supposed
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: to be in there and all that. But man, like
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: I really like it. I really really do like it.
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: The style. There's gonna be some times where it's boring
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: or you know, non super not about of action or whatever,
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: but it's just really intrigues me. And then on the
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Brian Norman Junior, you know, this is what I said
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: about Frank Martin and the chakor Stevenson said, you know,
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: the chakor Stevenson he wanted a little bit more money.
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: He lost the fight, but he did technically he was
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: tied enough to PBC right that he could get the
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: tank fight, and he ultimately did. Now let's revisit that.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: This is why I'm open minded. I like to keep
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: the door open.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: I like to.
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: You know, be fair about it. Did I think that
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: Eddie could come up with some more money and get
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: him to to mil Sure, yeah, I do. For the
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: Boots fight, I do, but he could also taken the
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: one point seven, right, I think that's fair too. But
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: I also said, now, this only really affects him if
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: he doesn't get a big fight, whether that was gonna
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: be Tail in the future or Boots or whatever. Right, well,
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: he got a big fight, and we don't know how
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: much he's gonna get paid, but one point seven he's
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: getting that least that you'd assume. And either way, it's
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: gonna be a big payday, huge payday for him. So
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: you know, that's why you know some folks will say
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: you're in between on it, Well, sometimes you gotta be
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: in between on it because that's the reality of it.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: And Norman Junior did get his big fight with the
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: big payday and it's Sadi, So they're not going to
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: be small checks, you know, per se right on this.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: So I don't know what it's gonna be. I don't
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: know if it is going to be two million, I
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: don't know if it's three or four you know, I
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: don't know, but I know that it's gonna be big
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: if you look at what he gets per fight, right
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: if you look at his minimum. So in the end,
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: I always I always preferenced this when I was talking
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: about this topic of Boots and uh Norman Junior, that
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: if Norman Junior can secure a big fight than the
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: ennest thing, you could say he played it right. And
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: do I think I think dangerous wise Boots is more dangerous.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: Devin's a pretty good boxer though, who boxes to win
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: the fight or win the round, whether you like it
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: or not. He tries to win the round where his
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: Boots gets a little loose with it, right, I think
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: he's a more dangerous fighter. I think he's got a
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: high level of skill though. I think he's better than
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: Devin eighty actually because of that power. You can't forget
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: the power, but you gotta give credit. I mean Norman
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: Junior to the gotta fight. He got a big fight, dude,
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: so you can only you know, you can only look
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: down on him for the nis thing so much. And
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: that's why I always left the door open, like, if
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: you can secure one, then ultimately it doesn't matter in
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: the Boots fight. You could you could make an argument
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: that the Boots fight's still there. So then he get
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: too big, Bay, you know, so they played it right ultimately,
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: and that's just factual. That's what happens. You know, you
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: can learn about the business shit, just like politics. You
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: can learn, learn, learn, You can watch the span, you
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: can see how bills, you can see the dark money,
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: you can see pack money, super packed, you know all
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: that stuff. But then you got to let the ship
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: play out too, and letting this shit play out played
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: right in the hands of Norman Juior and now you know,
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: lucky for him, Tail didn't take the fight, but hey,
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: that's how it went. Garcia lost, but hey, this shit happens.
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: So shots out to them both. Also, you banged Junior
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: and Ben part two in London, I remember hearing. Is
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: that true? It's in London. Shots out to that. First
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: of all, I gave it a lot of credit because
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: it was a damn good fight, fun fight to watch,
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: better than I thought it would have been. I admit
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: that it was a good ass fight. And now they're
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: having a rematch in London now. According to the Dumb
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: Sure September twentieth in London, right, so fight contested that
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: one sixty with the same day with the same day
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: weight limit of one to seventy. Really happy that's fight
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: is happening. I love it because, like I said, it
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: was a damn good fight, man, you know, and it's
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: where it needs to be in my opinion, it's it's
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: where it needs to be. So shots out there, man,
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: that's a good fight, and you know they're going to
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: cash in. It's a damn good fight. So I'm very
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: happy that that fight got made. We'll just kind of
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: do some other current fight new stuff in boxing, Twitter
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: and all that stuff. Now. Brunch boxing shots out to
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: them every Saturday. And then dude, they had Tim Zu.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: They you know, they had Deontay Wilder. They've had some
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: really great interviews overall, but especially of late, they've really
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: hit it out of the park of late. But like
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: I said, overall, they have in depth interviews. You know,
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: back in the day of Ropodov Radio, when the format
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: was interviews and we'd do sometimes three a show, we
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: would do in depth interviews and wouldn't just ask basic questions.
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: And that is the like who you have, Najen. You
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: do have some other guy people out there, not just
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: guys that do pretty good interviews right or solid ones,
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: but brunch boxing really digs into it. And also, like
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: outside of the ring. They kind of you kind of
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: get to know the person too, really great stuff. So
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: shouts out to them in general. But you know, they
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: talked about it on their show that ESPN, you know,
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: is potentially interested and maybe maybe there's some early talks
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: or whatever, but potentially interested in having the PBC. You know,
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: ESPN PBC. Now we know they had a former relationship
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: time By that didn't amount to a deal. That definitely
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: opened the door for Top Rink as that lawsuit the
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: top rank had to PBC that got settled, so that
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: allowed them to go to ESPN as well, and they said, hey,
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: you know, like that that PBC deal that time By
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: showed us, Hey, if you if you do the right thing,
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: you make the right fights, you can get you know,
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: you can you can get some ratings and all that
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: and whatever. And you know, there's a variety of reasons
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: why the ESPN deal is coming to an end. I
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: don't I don't think they made enough in house fights.
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: There were some weight classes one, twenty six, one thirty, one,
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: thirty five, there's some stuff that they got accomplished. It'd
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: be silly not to say that, but you know the
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: way they were signing heavyweights, and then they just wouldn't
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: fight each other. And in certain fights, it just they
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: just wouldn't do it. You know, it's just like what
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: do we what are you doing? Like make the fights
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: in it. It seemed like they were at times just
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: getting that, you know, getting that money and not really
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: investing in it too much. You know, if you go
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: by the reports of ninety million a year. And I
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: remember way back when Max Kellerman I think was the
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: first one to break that, way back when well no,
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: actually no, no, I don't think so. I think it
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: was before that, yeah, for that. But anyway, speaking of
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: Max Killuman, he's back with t k O boxing for
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: this Canelo Crawford. I just think that they went out
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: of their way to make boogeyman's and then the Boogeyman
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: would get beat or look like shit, and then they
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: they instead of like matching it in the house or
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: or whatever. You know, they could have given up some
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: stuff for the for the Crawford Spence fight to happen earlier.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: But if you look at not just Crawford, but if
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: you look at Bob and what he'd say about it
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: when it was going to be you know, could it
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: be like you know, Wilder Fury in a ESPN and
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: Fox or ESPN and Showtime or whatever. At the time,
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: it would have been Fox right back in twenty nineteen,
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: tw twenty. Yeah, and it just didn't line up with reality.
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: But that wasn't a fifty to fifty fight at that time,
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: and so they could have made that fight just whatever.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: They could have done some other stuff. But you could
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: also blame Crawford for waiting to see what Many was
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: gonna do, and once Many signed with, you know, the PBC,
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: maybe he should have just waited to be a free
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: agent and either sign or do business with them, you know.
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: So it's not just people will always blame it on
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: the PBC, but you know, Crawford has something to do
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: with that too. Now I get the per fight. I don't,
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: I'm not. I don't think they would have guaranteed him
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: as many fights at the per fight that he was
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: given from top rank that he got. I don't. I don't.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: I can't guarantee that, that's for sure. But then that
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: means you just took some money, and that's cool because
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: your per fight is cool. That's cool. But then it's
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: kind of like Andre where he went well, it's not
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: really kind of like that because Andred at least went
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: to a place where he was getting the per fight,
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: and I thought it was kind of a bullshit move
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: he did with Charlo acting like Charlotte didn't want to
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: fight him, even though Showtime had, you know, gave him
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: a deal one fight deal or a three fight deal.
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: But he ended up making the per fight more money
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: over there. Okay, cool, you know now he didn't end
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: up getting any of those fights over there. That's what
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: sucked for him, right, But they just they just they
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: just didn't, you know, they didn't take advantage of the
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: in house stuff. And for years prior the in house
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: people would rail against the in house, including this podcast,
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: because it was like, dude, forget the in house all
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: the time. When a fight's ready to be made, make it.
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: But when we were in the era, and to an extent,
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: we're still in that era, but nowhere near what we
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: are when we're in the era of top Raak has
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: a deal with ESPN, PBC has Mom of Fox and
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: showed you know, when people are separate, then you have
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: to It's not that I only like in house fights,
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: but the reality of the situation was you have to
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: deliver for the network, so then deliver your best product
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: like the PBCD Thatt one, fifty four and forty seven.
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: So to me, I thought they didn't make enough in house,
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: and then when they would collect fighters, sometimes they just
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: wouldn't push it, you know. Other times they had you know,
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: like they would build to a fight and they'd make
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: it and yeah, it was good. You know, there was
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: a build for Veldez and chikor or you know whatever,
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: and so it wasn't all bad. That'd be silly. But
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: you know, I thought that they short changed it too much.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: I did like how they made the fights straight up
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: on ESPN. You didn't have to or ESPN plus you know,
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: that was dope, so you didn't have to have cable
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: to watch jop rank fights. I thought that was cool.
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: And I also thought the deal that they had from overseas.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: We had a lot of overseas stuff in Japan stuff,
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: you know, fight UK Japan. I did like that part
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: of the deal, and I thought that was a positive.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: Some of most folks think that ESPN didn't treat boxing
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: and right because of the lead ins, but I've always
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: disagreed with that because I watch other sports on ESPN
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: at like a big college football game if it's still
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: going more times than not, they're not. Even if it's
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: Alabama against somebody big, like a big name like Alabama
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: and whatever, like, they don't they start the game. They
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: delayed the game, but they started. I'm like ESPN News
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: or ESPN two or whatever, you know, So they can
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: do that for college football where the game that's in overtime,
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: you're going to keep that game on. Well, of course
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: they're going to do it for boxing, you know, so,
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: But I like the leadings, especially during the college football season,
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: but just in general, the leadings really help boost the ratings.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: It just you know, I thought some of the under
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: card stuff waiting a route for the main event too long.
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: I think out of all the you know, we have
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: cards at Dragon, but when you're on live ESPN it's
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: non pay per view. I did think that they would
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: do too long of breaks between fights. You know, whatever
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: it is, what it is, So we'll see where they
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: end up. Some people, you know, with the ESPN think
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: you know that after the ESPN's done that they don't
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: have a deal at all and they're screwed and they're
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: just gonna up on his own or whatever. We'll see ultimately,
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: But the PBC on ESPN, I don't know what that
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: would mean for dates and whatever. But sign me up, dude,
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: because you know, ESPN just invested, you know, a lot
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: in college football, and uh, they're invested in the NFL.
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: You know, to me, that's that's huge still. You know,
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: obviously they're invested in in the NBA. They're they're they're
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: the number one deal out of the NBA. It's cool
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: that NBC's into the fold. We're gonna get more regular
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: season and especially playoff games on NBC but in Amazon. Right,
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: that's coming to for the NBA next year. But ESPN
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: is still the home of sports, so I would love
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: it if they're on there. But we'll see, we'll see.
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: So someone has sent me this screenshot I f L
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: t V Carl Frotch Eddie hern is trying to compare
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: my loss with andre Ward with Anthony Joshua's lost to
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: Daniel Dubois, which is pathetic. I lost the close points
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: to decision to our to be an all time great
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: seven to five thirteen two of the scorecards. That's a
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: close fight. Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't compare the two
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: but first of all, the Dubois and Ward is fucking wild.
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: I think Froch is better than Anthony Joshua. Now do
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: I think that was a seven to five fight? Fuck? No,
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: I do not. You know, hell to the nah, No,
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: that was not that. But I back to the top
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: rank thing. There has been a little bit of noise
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: about they're gonna make their own streaming platform. Whether that's
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: true or not, I don't know. I think I talked
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: about this last time right at the end of the
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: show because I'm kind of getting confused because I missed
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: last week. But twelve events per year for the next
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: five years, that's TKO. That's what they And then they
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: say including up to four men got fights per year.
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: Now you know what is that true? We'll see ultimately,
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: but you know, it is what it is. Let's see here.
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: So the eighteen by eighteen, it seems like that's out
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: now for that fight. Uh, the Berlanga and Sakor and
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: do Zipeta and Shiraz Suraz, I think that's out. I
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: think it's gonna be twenty twenty to me, like honestly,
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: like smaller rings can make fights better, obviously, but as
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: a prospect, you don't want to fight in too many
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: small rings the whole time, because once you get to
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: that twenty twenty twenty by twenty not the year, it
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: gives people that like the box and the outside more room.
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: But when you're cutting off the ring, it is a
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: little funky, you know, all of a sudden when you
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: get you know, more more time or more you know, room, more,
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: more area to move. So I think there's something to
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: be said about fighting on club shows and if you
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: can sell even whatever, five hundred or a thousand tickets
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: in a small venue where you're from or in your area, region, whatever,
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: that's cool for sure, but it's also there's something to
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: be said even though it could be empty in Vegas
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: and you're the third fight, you're fighting in a twenty twenty,
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: so twenty twenty, so you do get used to it.
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: So there is something about if you're really trying to
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: be a championship level guy gal fighter, you should be
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: fighting in twenty twenty twenty by twenty rings at least
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: the chunk of your career just to get used to it,
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: especially if you're a pressure fighter. Though, someone messaged me
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: a while back about the KO bonus between Alvais and Crawford.
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: No one's getting knocked out. So but with ko bonus,
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: what kind of money were talking about? Because if it's
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: if the reports of what they're potentially making are even
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: halfway through, like fifty percent of it, you'd have to
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: put up a big ass, you know, number for that.
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: So I don't know, I really don't know about all that.
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: So Jamelle Herring had this tweet a little while back,
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: probably about ten days ago, about Ryan Garcia. Ryan just
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: can't catch a break. With Boots vacating and moving up
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: to fifty four, Roley is about to be elevated by
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: the WBA. Meanwhile, Ryan still hasn't care after the world title.
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: Is best shot, in my opinion, may have been one thirty,
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: but that slipped not about at thirty five, none at
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: one forty. Does he eventually win one? I don't give it.
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: First of all, he fucked it up when he said
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: catch a break. He he fucked that shit up and
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: the whole you know, like Boots vacating and moving up,
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: So he was gonna are you trying to say he
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: was gonna fight Boots and win that fight? Fuck no,
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: And Roly he lost to Roie dude, So that ain't
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: a bad that's not bad luck. You know. Also in
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: the top rank stuff, this message Lance Pugmyer someone the
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: screenshot at it. Bob Aaron told him that we'll probably
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: take off August and return with a broadcast platform in September.
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: So yeah, that they're you know, because they're talking about
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: some prospects that been on club shows and we've seen that.
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: We just saw that with PBC before the Amazon stuff.
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: So ulcough Pete says it right, Ryan can't catch a break.
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: Ryan chose the disrespect himself the sport of boxing and
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: put another fighter's tell at the risk by cheating when
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: he got criticized. He chose racial and religious bigotry. Yeah,
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: I mean, I don't feel bad for that at all
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: at all. Oh, by the way, Mannics cleared it up,
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: I guess by saying that Canelo Crawford will be at night.
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: And that's why I said, let's not just for sure.
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: You know, listen to what Oscar had to say in
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: that moment, I'd assume that was that was what was
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: gonna happen. Olexander Usik went away split with long time promoter.
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: Is it a scenario where you know, like Eddie Hearn said,
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: and we already knew before Eddie Hearn said that once
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: you're on a Turkey show, you're not really calling any
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: of the shots. You're not really promoting. You're just there
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: and you take your twenty percent or whatever your deal
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: is with your fighter from his purse. But you're not
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: really you know what I mean, You're not really making
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: any decision. You're not really promoting really me are you are?
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: But not not really? And so and if there's multiple
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: fighters with multiple promoters, you're not really promoting. You know,
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: of course you're you're gonna promote it, but not It's not.
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: My point is why give away whatever he was given
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: away to him? Maybe that's it. Maybe the contract was
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: just up and he figures, well, I got a fighter
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: to fuck it, you know, like why give away that
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: money when this this guy have had a great run
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: with him? But you know, like, why give him that
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: twenty percent when it's not even him promoting? You know,
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: I don't know, it is what it is. It does
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: suck though, when you start making crazy money and someone
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: invested in you that they get shafted. But did they
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: really get shafted?
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: Though?
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: That's what I'm looking at it like, probably not because
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: usis made some money lately. Chain Smoking Penguin, I always
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: loved that. A great follow at Chain's smoke Peng Smok
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: Peng pe n G. I just love that Twitter handle name.
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: That's just funny. But the environment is so dead with
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: these rehot cards that it feels like an event during
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: the pandemic. Yes, it does. Accept They miked up the
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: punches then and it was like, oh, you can hear
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: the punches more than you used to be able to do,
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: so that was the cool part about it. But you
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: don't really hear it as much. But that's a good point.
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: Curtis Pek Curtis matchroom in the UK are down so
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: bad it's hard to even comprom comprehend. That's two fighters
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: they would have, Oh yeah, blah blah blah. The thing
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: is they're because they're talking about Roder heus you know,
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: like I don't know, maybe Eddie has something, you know,
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: up his sleeve, because he actually did, uh he did say,
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: you know, game change type thing. This is Adrian Delgado,
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: great follow Adrian d eight nine two six one thing
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: Canelo has in his favorite going into into the Crawford
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: matchup in September. His activity, it will be his third
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: fight in a year. He also has motivation, has showed
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: that weight classes are there for a reason. Physically, power
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: versus physical physicality and power versus speed and range. Legacy
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: is on the line. It's a great tweet and a
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: good point that is true. Canelo has been saying some Actually,
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: Canelo and Crawford has been saying some funny stuff. I
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: have noticed that I hope your uncle will Turkey pay
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: you enough because it's going to be your last fight. Now,
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: these are just quotes that people are sending to me. Now.
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: Canelo said that, you know, Terrence brings more to the
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: table than ben Avidez. But I disagree with that more.
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: I don't. I don't think it's more. You could say
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: equal or whatever, but I don't know, because you know,
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: the whole elite fighter thing. You haven't you haven't beaten
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: elite fighter, so you can't really say that, you know.
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: I think Spence was an elite when he was before
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: the plank, you know, plane crash, before the car crash.
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: I do think he was an elite fighter. And even
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: that Usik fight, he showed his worth and whatnot. But
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: when he fought him, you could make you could say
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: he wasn't you know, the same guy. That's fair, But
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: I do have to say, like, resumey lineal champs and
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: how he's done it through the divisions have been impressive. Obviously,
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: he's an elite fighter. Crawford's an elite fighter. But when
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: you say resume and this is him talking when he
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: brings up Ricky, Oh, Ricky Burns was an elite Terrence.
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: Ricky Burns was an elite dude. I'd bring up Gamboa
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: before I'd bring up Ricky Burns like and when you
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: look at like his lineal championship, you know, like when
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: it was one against two, creating the lineal right, that
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: was a damn good fight Postal I thought was a
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: damn good fighter. Was he elite? No, he wasn't, because
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: you can be quote unquote ranked second in your division
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: and not be elite. But it created a lineal But
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: if you look at the guy he got the undisputed
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: against that dude, you know he fell the f off
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: after that. So I don't know, I just I think
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: there's a difference between He hasn't fought able a lot
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: of leade fighters at all. He hasn't really fought elite fighters,
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: but the way he's done it and separated himself, that's
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: you know, that's where it's at. I also saw this
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: brunch boxing Turkey wants to make Lester Martinez against Christian
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: and Billy. Yeah please, Greg Hackett, Charleston and White look
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: good out there. Yeah, you know what, I gotta give him,
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: you know, yeah, I'll give him that. That was he
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: did actually look pretty good. Now here's so if Canelo
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: wins and I said this when I heard these names
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: Shiraz or Ubank Junior, like if that's his if that's
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: his fights next year or or you know, he fights
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: Shiraz if he wins, which I do think he's gonna win,
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: and then fights U Bank or vice versa. Dude, those
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: are not Give us Benavidez. For Christ's sakes, you know,
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: give us Benavidez. That's what we want. Not not that shit,
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: not that ship at all. Uh boxing Wave dude is
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: a two division four belt undisputed champion. He also he's
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: also a four division champ. But dude is a two
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: division four belt undisputed Okay, so he could have just said,
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: you know, two time undisputed he also is a four
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: division champion. If that's a bad resume, I don't know
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: what is a good one. Well, you can't just string
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: off the belts and be like, oh, you know, you
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: just can't string off the belts and be like, dude,
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: I want all these fucking belts though, bro, you know,
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: because that doesn't you know, like I said, go look
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: at one of those lineal champions where that dude is also.
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: I saw this that Jose Benavitez Junior tested positive for cocaine.
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: Saw that a handful of days ago. We'll see what that.
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: We'll see what that ultimately means. Muh oh Turkey from
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: a tweet, I will be very upset if Berlanga and
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: zapot On knockout Sharaz and Shakur. We have big plans
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: for Sharaz and Shaqur. This result would be a complete disaster.
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: So you know, Turkey may not like promoters and like
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: to talk to the boxers when he's doing deals and managers,
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: and I respect that, I do give him. I do
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: like the fighter and the manager to get or at
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: least the fighter for sure, then the manager of course
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: to get involved, and then they can take that stuff
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: back to the promoter. But like he's that's a promoter statement,
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: right there, dude. I mean, come on, Paul Magno Boxing Tribune.
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: It's sad how many good honest writers slash journalists who
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: love boxing deeply have abandon in the idea of writing
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: about the sport because good honest writing journalism has such
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: a hard time finding a home. We could we could
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: have everything we want in boxing if we had a
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: strong media. I I don't agree with that last sentence everything,
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: but I do think, you know, I do think that
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: there is, you know, something to be said about what
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: he said obviously. I mean, I've been talking about the
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: media for quite some time. Jim Cross, Jim Cross boxing
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: good Twitter handled there or a bio is one of
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: the best kept secrets in boxing. This kid is so so,
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: so fucking good. Yeah, man, that dude. I like him.
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: I do like him. I was listening to the Saturday
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: show of Brunch Boxing and Matt quote tweeted Turkey wants
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: to make about between Virtual Artis and John Ennis for November.
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: Is this a realistic possibility? Well, Ennis could fight here soon,
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: which it sounds like he may get a fight at
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: fifty four, so maybe he gets a fight in and
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: then fights in November. I don't know, or does he
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: just say screw it? I'm going right to that. That's
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: a good question though. Another one he posed during the show,
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: Keishan Davis apologized to his supporters, says the truth will
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: be revealed. All is all forgiven. The apologies is like, eh,
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: I'm good. You know what I mean? Like it is
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: what it is, Jim Cross again, remember when Dezonne was
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: selling us that Payerrey was dead. There are three pay
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: views on his own within three weeks. I get it
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: for the big fights, but they're even charging for Moses
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: in White exactly, dude, Like Moses has a lot of potential.
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: White as a gatekeeper is a good opponent. It's it's
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: a fine opponent being on you know, not as expensive
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: you know, pay per view in the UK. Okay whatever.
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: I don't think that's a great way to do it
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: in the UK even, but you're gonna make it here
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: in the US. Like, dude, I don't think that should
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: be on pay per view in general? Has it only
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: been one that was non pay per view? That's true, right,
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: it was the zero Has it only been so since
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: Turkey's been here and Sadi has you know, entered the business.
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: It's been is that true? It's only been one non
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: pay per view, like Moses has potential. But if you
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: do them on pay per view in the ain't I
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: bene of your pay per views? Against him against White?
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: It's just it's just you gotta let him grow. You
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: gotta let him grow. I did overhear some folks not
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: over here. No, actually I did over here in his face.
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: But I also saw it that Shelley Finkel says that
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: uh Wilder has a fight in the fall in South Korea.
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: So if that actually you know, works out, then he's
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: gonna fight. Then that's the plan, and then try to
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: fight aj Or a big fight in twenty twenty six,
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: you know, taking one more fight. You know, it is
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: what it is. Um So this is a screen shot.
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: So I don't know who the Twitter analy is. I
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: don't have a dog in the race because I I
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: countless negative I have I think he man countless negative
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: thoughts of Canelo Crawford. But whenever people start to downplay
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: Terrence Crawford's resume, it tells me they actually don't know
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: anything about the career. It tells me you know nothing
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: about boxing. The thing is, it's like.
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: How he.
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: Too the god. It's so frustrating, Like the dude doesn't
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: have a great resume. Man, it's pretty fucking obvious. But
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: that that's just reality. We've been talking a lot about
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: reality because boxing Twitter sometimes is not reality. Fandom and
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: fan boy can be outside of reality. It's it's it's
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: easy to say that the guy like Kalzaggi is a
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: damn good fighter. I'm not trying to I think Crawford's
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: better than Kalzaggi, but he just didn't find a lot
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: of names. And then the two guys he fought late
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: or well, Kessler, you know, he fought some good fight.
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: I'm not trying to say that, but like he can't
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: get credit for the Roy Jones Junior the full credit
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: and even be Hop was pasted. It now be Hop
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: at least, you know, fart more past that. But like
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: it is what it is, dude, you know, it just
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: is what it is. It's not a good resume. It's
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: not I should say that it's not an elite resume.
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: If the dude is saying Ricky Burns and talking about elite,
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: that sums it up. Dude, that has nothing to do
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: how fucking good he is though, because the dude is
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: fucking elite and he's literally one of the best of
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: his era. It just hands down, you know, hands down
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: Adrian Delgado giving his take one Norman Hainy HAINI will
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: have to be perfect in this fight, yep. I can
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: see him being ahead on the scorecards and then being
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: taken out midway or late against the explosive puncher in Norman. Nevertheless,
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: an intriguing matchup. Well said, which that's usually Adrian. But yeah,
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: that's exactly what I think, man, That's why I love it.
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: Ummm yeah, it's just it's just weird. Virgil artist Junior
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: Jake Paul is scamming the entire world with his circus,
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: selling them as the real fights, but the entire world
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: continues to eat it up, eat it all up, and
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: then have the nerve to be disappointed because of the
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: circus fights they pay to watch aren't real fights. Now
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: he has a point. I don't think this is a
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: circus fight, but clearly chovi Is is so pastard, so
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: he's in gatekeeper mode like crazy, and it's just barely
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: gatekeeper mode, right, but like he's doing what he's doing.
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: It is what it is. But when he says he's scamming,
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: he's just like he is single handedly destroying the sport.
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: Like that's you're so lost. And I get it you're
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: biased because you're a boxer, but dude, come on, dude,
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: come on single handedly? What how can he single handle
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: He's destroying the sport. That's just weak. So Ring Magazine,
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: as we know, since Turkey took it over, like it
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: wasn't great before. It was better than it is now though,
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: but it wasn't I had plenty to say about it then.
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: But it wasn't that bad. It really wasn't. But it
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: wasn't great, right, but they fucking ran that. They said
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: Jake Paul announced the Honda Center record uh you know,
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: announced the record gate at boxing and then then they say,
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: oh that they were they were slashed. The ticket tickets
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: were slashed at ten dollars other tickets, other tickets reduced
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: up to seventy percent if that. But like Ring and
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: Saudi Arabia Turkey, they don't have much to say about tickets. Dude.
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: You know we know that. You you can tell by
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: how the ticket breakdown was that Turkey like that, I
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: think it was six point something over six million gate
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: in the LA one with Crawford. He bought those tickets, dude,
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: he made the gate bigger. You could see. And by
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: the way, I mentioned that when Manny and Floyd and
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: other Oscar and other stars would buy a million dollars,
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: Like if you're close to a let's say you're the eleventh,
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: you're in eleventh place of live gate revenue in Las
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: Vegas history.
- 1:38:47Speaker 2: Well why don't you just move the tenth you know, like,
- 1:38:49Speaker 2: buy a million, give them to your friends, give them
- 1:38:51Speaker 2: the celebrities, whatever, like that's that's that's how that happens.
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: But you could tell he he boosted that gate. So
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: when you have a quote unquote ring magazine purposely downing
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: a fighter in what they do, but then you know
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: a lot of their fights like dead as fuck some
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: of them, even when they're in the US, but especially
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: the ones society. But it's like, okay, if you're gonna
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: do that, if you're gonna add context to a gate record,
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: but look at what this is. Okay, cool, why don't
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: you add context to your own fucking shit? Though? You
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: know what I mean, that's the problem, and there isn't
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: context so you're just it's just propaganda now. So it's
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: just it's just fucking ridiculous. That's it is what it is.
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: Uh Naji said Kid Austin Abdula. Mason just got a
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: lot more interesting. Yeah, that's that's a ways off, but
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: you know, it is what it is. Ryan Garcia Oscar
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: de la Hoya back at it. Unfortunately, Ryan Garcia is
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: having another episode. Ten days ago, he was talking about
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: God and finding his path. Then tonight he sends me
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: this rant while watching his fellow gold Boy fighters win.
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: Bipolar disorder is very serious and I hope he gets help. Basically,
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: he says, first of all, fuck you, especially you for
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: the one disrespecting me with the shitty contract because I lost,
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: but I'm actually your only current star fighter. You could
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: suck it, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, I'll beat
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: Rollie's ass and whoever you can kiss my ass, I'll
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: beat Rollie's ass and whoever. I can't wait till I
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: go against you again like I did with d'Arte and
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: do to see your stupid ass face looking okay out,
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: I don't know. Berlanga said he was gonna slap up Oscar,
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: and Oscar was puffing on one of those and he said, hey, man,
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: I'll be there, so let's do it anyway. And then
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: here's another thing. Ring Magazine July is right on the corner.
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: It's looking stacked. Okay. Cool. So you're gonna name events
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: that are on Netflix, on Amazon, pay per view, on ESPN,
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: Like you're gonna name events that aren't you cool? Okay,
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: you're just talking about a stacked July. Cool? But why
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: but then Ring three live on the Zone. Actually it's
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: not live on his zone. It's live on pay per view.
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: And you should check the ticket sales there on that
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: one before you go talking about ticket sales. But uh,
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: Kenneth KB, he's like, what the fuck is July ninth
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: on Vegas doing on here? Like you don't sell tickets, say, man,
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: July stacked, and you you have, you know, you have
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: all these fights, some of them on your shit, some
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: of them not h you know whatever, most say, I'm
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: looking at the list, most of them aren't actually, and
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: then you're like, hey, we got tickets. It kind of
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: it's just misleading. It's like saying the ship's live on
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: his own. No, it's on pay per view, own pay
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: per view. That's what it's on. That's what it's on, dude,
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: So don't don't go fucking around like that. Ezra brunch
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: Boxing shouts out to him. Jake Paul already won per
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: his original goal. This isn't up for debate. He is
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: a much better boxer than anyone besides him ever thought
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: he'd be. He is one of the biggest name in
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: the sport. He has a legitimate promotional company working with
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: pretty much every major network. If he gets put to
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: sleep but a but a higher lever box boxer, which
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: he never would, he already proved everyone wrong. I think
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: that's I think that's a fair, fair statement, and he
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: does deserve credit for his promotional company. He just does.
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: In a livestream, LaMonte Roach.
- 1:43:01Speaker 2: Said that after its tank rematch, he's gonna get the
- 1:43:06Speaker 2: winner of Hanian in Norman Junior.
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: Uh Berlanga. I'm looking at Chiraz like Canelo and Oscar said,
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: So you won't win one round. Yeah, that's kind of funny. Yeah,
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: I've heard all this stuff about the November card, whether
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: it's you know, maybe they get nsrt's or if Moses
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: come through Bakoli. I guess Andy Kruz and zippot. I've
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: heard a couple other ones, but it does look like
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: a good a good card. I will say that looks
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: like a good card. But we'll see. We got to
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: see it right now. I saw some live odds Brian
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: Norman Junior plus on FanDuel plus one twelve, and anytime
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: I hear one twelve, I just want to sing one.
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: All right, I'll stop. I think I think that's about it. Um, yeah,
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: I think that's about it anyway. Like I said, thanks
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: for working with me during this schedule. Thanks for still listening.
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: I know that I've been not coming through on Tuesdays,
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: you know, like I said, like it's in the way,
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: all that YadA YadA stuff. Let's hope that we get
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: a fight that kind of overachieves this weekend, right, We're
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: gonna need it. Hopefully that caterall you bank is is
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: a good fight. Derevin Chenko actually does return h this weekend.
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: There is some other fighters on that card that is
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: Triller if you still have Triller TV plus God Blessed
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: his Own has a card actually Wednesday and Saturday, but
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: then we have a really fun like a Friday and
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: a Saturday. That's about the pop off like July is
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: way better. July is gonna be damn good. So I'm
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: really looking forward to that. Yeah, like I said, let's
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: hope we get a competitive fight in that main event.
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: Uh so we have something to dig into, dig our
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: teeth into on the recap. But yeah, I'm really looking
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: forward to the weekend after. I do wish that ring
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: card would be just on his own, which still isn't
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: enough reach. But ship, I mean, well, he see here
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: it is. Why don't you do a time by with ESPN?
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: I know that you're invested, like into his own what
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: have they got ten percent or whatever? I can't remember
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: what they bought into, but Turkey, ESPN doesn't doesn't have
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: a current deal right now. Once you just buy into it,
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: just do a fucking time by. Who gives a shit.
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: You're not making money anyway. At least you get way
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: more exposure. But yeah, that's the thing, like, uh, I
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: don't know that that that does irritate me, because that's
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: a great it's a it is a solid, very solid card.
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: I like it a lot. I just don't think it
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: should be pay per view. And at some point when
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: you have three straight pay per views, you know they
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: had three in a week's time in May, remember or yeah,
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: in May or was it late April May? Whatever it was.
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: It was a view and then a paper Friday and Saturday.
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: Like you can bundle all the shit. I know, there's
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: a two. You pay ninety bucks or whatever for for
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: two out of the three. It's just the whole point
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: is you're shrinking the audience and you're not cashing in
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: on it though, and you're trying to build these fighters up,
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: but you're building it on pay per view, and you
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: can only do that so much. And if you have
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: a big you know, like if you have a big
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: name and you know it's going to be three hundred thousand,
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: five hundred thousand, seven hundred thousand buys and then you're
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: building the undercrofd fighters off of that, that's different, you know.
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: But maybe you know, maybe that Crawford and Canelo Netflix
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: can he can you know, turn that into a deal.
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: Maybe that's what you know he's lining up for. That'd
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: be great, but I don't know, we'll see. Anyway, I'm
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: gonna get out of here, enjoy the fights, Enjoy the holiday.
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: For the folks in the States,
