- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Like me, you probably get sucked into lists of books, movies, or music that other people have put together.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: And this might be something like the top 10 movies of all time, the best 50 guitarists, the top 15 novels, the top 10 books on writing, a ranking of Star Wars movies, and so on.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: Well, those kinds of lists keep us engaged and they give us some context of how to think about other people's creative work.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: But remember that human beings have made those curated lists.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Somebody decided they were going to be a tastemaker and they decided to put their opinion out there into the world.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Well, the cool thing is that you and I can do the exact same thing.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: You know, one of the best ways you can serve your readers is by curating other people's content.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: There is so much material out there that it's kind of hard to wade through.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: How can we possibly make sense of it all unless somebody helps us?
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: So whatever your area of writing is, think about ways that you can help your reader understand what's worth watching, reading, or listening to.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: Become the person that other people turn to for leadership and guidance in your topic, your subject, or your niche.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Don't just sit by and let other people be tastemakers.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: You can get on YouTube or you can get on podcasts, and it's really easy to find these lists of things, the top 10 movies of all time, the the Marvel movies ranked, the top comic books of all time, the top 100 songs of all time.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: You know, people just decided they were gonna do that and they ranked those, and that's just a matter of opinion.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Anyone can do that, and you can do it as well.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: So take it upon yourself to be the one who helps determine the best content in your field.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Here's today's challenge.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: If you were gonna make a top 10 list of items in your field, what would be on that list?
