  be talking about SpaceX is Starship first orbital flight.

  So if you're not familiar with Starship SpaceX and Elon are

  building this gigantic rocket which is two phases, there's a

  booster phase which launches the top phase into orbit and the

  booster phase Booster for, if you will is located down a
• 0:32
  Starbase and Texas. Same thing with Starship SN 20

  ships, 20. Now both of these things will be
• 0:41
  launching sometime this year and I would love to give you an
• 0:46
  exact date, but as of right now, there's no exact date for this
• 0:51
  thing to happen because the FAA has a an environmental review
• 0:56
  for the Starbase facility and for these Launches that is going
• 1:00
  to be done at the end of February.
• 1:03
  So the earliest that SpaceX could launch Starship is March
• 1:09
  of this year. Are they going to do that?
• 1:12
  More than likely not. I wish I had better news for
• 1:16
  you, but unfortunately, it looks like SpaceX and Starship won't
• 1:21
  be launching any time earlier than at least at least April.

  Now let me explain what Starship is I'm going through this no
• 1:34
  editing, anything like that. This is just off the top of my
• 1:37
  head. These you know, these giant
• 1:40
  Rockets what they'll be. People doing and I live here in
• 1:44
  Brownsville. I live in Brownsville Texas
• 1:46
  which is about 25 miles away from SpaceX is headquarters at
• 1:51
  Starbase. I visit Starbase every single
• 1:54
  day I film for my YouTube channel, the space news pod,
• 1:58
  very similar to the Elon Musk pod and you probably heard me

  kind of use some of that content on the Elon Musk pod but going
• 2:07
  down to Starbase every single day to film.

  It's it alive. Seems it's absolutely
• 2:14
  incredible. I get to see things that nobody
• 2:18
  else in the world gets to see. I get to see them stacking
• 2:22
  pieces of this gigantic rocket, its nine meters around, that's
• 2:25
  about 30 feet this, a lot of room in this rocket for
• 2:29
  different things. Such as satellites.

  There will be people in this rocket eventually when they send
• 2:35
  people back to the moon and the Artemis programs, the NASA's
• 2:38
  putting together. And those will be happening
• 2:41
  sometime you know in the in the mid 2020s.

  So SpaceX is gearing up to fly this thing.

  The 400-foot tall rocket is 250 foot tall for the booster
• 2:53
  somewhere around there in 150 feet tall for the Starship which
• 2:57
  is the spaceship on top of the booster.

  but right now is this test vehicle is being built 29.

  Raptor engines are on the bottom of it ready to rip and Roar

  sometime later this year. Now it's going to be going Mach

  25 when it re-enters which is crazy and that's for the orbital

  flight test that's coming up and that's just for Starship.

  So let's go back to the booster. Booster for when it launches.

  It'll land in the Gulf of Mexico and it's going to be a
• 5:55
  propulsive landing. So instead of just kind of doing
• 5:58
  what they did with the space shuttle or any other disposable
• 6:02
  rocket, it's going to land similar to a falcon 9 which is
• 6:06
  there other record that they use all the time. 100 plus flights
• 6:11
  complete with Falcon 9. They land them vertically.

  It's incredible to see. So, I've seen a falcon 9 It's
• 6:19
  late and I've seen up close and personal how big Starship is I'm
• 6:23
  going to tell you. Starship dwarfs Falcon, 9's.

  It is absolutely gigantic. It's like flying a skyscraper.

  The Starship itself is 164 feet. That's the thing on the top.
• 6:41
  And that will re-enter Earth's atmosphere speeds of about
• 6:44
  19,000 miles per hour during this Hypersonic flight who it is
• 6:50
  crazy. How big and crazy this thing is
• 6:53
  like, it's crazy how crazy this. There we go.

  How about that? Now that let's take a, let's
• 6:58
  take a little step back again. So this booster for Gigantic
• 7:02
  rocket. It's going to sink, it's going
• 7:05
  to be in the Gulf of Mexico. They may retrieve parts of it
• 7:10
  but probably not. There's no reason to, they're
• 7:14
  going to get the FAA launch license, which will allow them
• 7:17
  to sink it in the Gulf. And by the time it gets to the
• 7:22
  gulf, all the fuel will be expelled for be no fuel left.
• 7:27
  And it'll be quote, a quote clean rocket, at that point.

  So to just be a basically, like if a ship sank in the Gulf of
• 7:36
  Mexico, a big metal tube sinks to the bottom of the gulf.
• 7:42
  Make spouse possibly a habitat for marine.
• 7:46
  Life could stir up. Some stuff could be bad, could
• 7:49
  be good. So, that's up to the FAA and
• 7:52
  that's up to the Environmental. Review from the FAA.

  But let's talk about where the Starship will land. it's going
• 8:04
  to go all the way to Kauai, From Brownsville Texas, Brownsville
• 8:09
  Texas in the bottom. The very very tip of Texas South
• 8:14
  Padre Island. If you've ever heard of that,
• 8:16
  it's right on the border of Mexico.
• 8:17
  It's absolutely beautiful here. Every day is sunny.
• 8:23
  You know, you get very few days where it's really harsh weather,
• 8:28
  and when you do, it's usually rain what?
• 8:30
  I'm just, I just moved here about six months ago.
• 8:33
  And the first thing like the first weather event that I had
• 8:37
  here was a flood and I wasn't prepared for it.
• 8:41
  I didn't know what to do. I live, you know, pretty close
• 8:44
  to the pretty close to the shore here.
• 8:46
  I'm not on the beach but I'm, you know, 20 minutes away, the
• 8:50
  water, flooded up to my tires, Midway in my tires, and I was
• 8:54
  like, oh, this is not good, but the other times during the year,
• 8:58
  when everything is perfect, that's another reason why SpaceX
• 9:02
  wanted to be up here, it's because They have all year round
• 9:08
  to build this gigantic rocket. Now.
• 9:13
  Being a Starbase knowing what, I know talking to the people that
• 9:17
  I've talked to numerous times, they they know this is going to
• 9:22
  work, and when the Starship gets to Kauai, it's going to do a
• 9:28
  soft rocket-powered ocean Landing, 62 miles north of
• 9:33
  Kauai, it'll Sink of the Navy's. Pacific Missile Range facility,
• 9:38
  And that's according to the plans right now.
• 9:41
  And there's already stuff out there.
• 9:43
  It'll join dozens of Warships that have gone down over the
• 9:45
  past decades, during Navy sink exercises.
• 9:48
  And Waters that are 15,000 feet deep, So the USS Ingraham was
• 9:55
  the most recent, it was targeted and big mid-august to 2021 by
• 9:59
  marines that fired missiles from Kauai.

  Again pummeled this thing with ammunition from aircraft and
• 10:07
  submarines. So this area is built for this
• 10:11
  kind of stuff. Also Department of Defense is
• 10:15
  interested in Starships. So having it sink out there with
• 10:18
  the other naval ships, it's going to be protected by the
• 10:21
  Department of Defense. So nobody else sneaks over and
• 10:27
  you know gets the information though you know Elon Musk has
• 10:31
  talked about this so many times that all the information is out
• 10:34
  there and I film, pretty much everything that's being built
• 10:37
  into the starship anyway. It's just the engines that are
• 10:40
  important, so if they get a hold of these Raptor engines, that's
• 10:43
  not a good thing. So it'll be out in the, in the
• 10:46
  Navy's sink exercise area. So that's a safe as you can get.
• 10:52
  So Hawaii's role in the orbital test it's pretty big so it'll
• 10:58
  have the super super heavy booster, right?
• 11:02
  The booster for will land in the Gulf of course.
• 11:08
  And the Starship will land a kawaii.
• 11:11
  Starships expected to carry cruise to Earth, orbit first,
• 11:17
  then around the moon for the dear Moon project and that's
• 11:21
  already paid for by an entrepreneur named MZ.
• 11:25
  He's just did a stint on the International Space Station to
• 11:28
  train for this. And he's going to bring some
• 11:31
  people along with him. Those people will be artists.
• 11:35
  They'll be adventurers explorers.
• 11:39
  And they'll be going around the Moon and back on a private
• 11:44
  spacecraft. Not on a NASA spacecraft not on
• 11:50
  anything funded by the government.
• 11:52
  This is a trip that they paid for by themselves.
• 11:58
  To Starbase is SpaceX, sorry to SpaceX to fly around the Moon

  and back that is unheard of the soyuz program.

  Sometimes people get a trip to the ISS on the soyuz program in
• 12:11
  Russia, have to pay a million, couple million dollars for that.
• 12:16
  MZ has paid a ton of money. We're not exactly sure how much
• 12:19
  he paid, but he paid a ton of money.
• 12:21
  It's him and some other people on there.
• 12:23
  So him helping fund. The Starships development is
• 12:28
  part of that cost. So that's pretty cool.
• 12:32
  NASA wants to fly at w be 57 high altitude research yet close
• 12:38
  to Starships re-entry as well. In this is pretty cool because
• 12:42
  NASA wants to study the Starship as it comes back in to gauge the
• 12:47
  surface temperature of the star brick thermal tiles.
• 12:50
  That will take the brunt of the heat that happens as the
• 12:54
  Starship comes back in. The fins of the Starship, you
• 13:00
  know there's tiles all over those things.
• 13:02
  So the fins of the Starship will keep the ship in the right
• 13:07
  position as it's coming down and they want to measure how hot
• 13:10
  these tiles get TPS, those are the tiles, the thermal
• 13:18
  protection system, the TPS, they have the Bladers ceramic tiles
• 13:23
  and reinforced carbon fiber, which is, you know, it's going
• 13:26
  to, it's going to be some maintenance in between flights.
• 13:32
  There's going to be an inspection or replacement time
• 13:34
  and costs, according to NASA's report and the Starships TPS is
• 13:40
  intended to provide a dramatic Leap Forward for demonstrating.
• 13:43
  Operational reuse requiring minimal to no maintenance
• 13:47
  between flights says NASA. So if Starship can figure this
• 13:51
  out, where there's no maintenance, there's thousands
• 13:55
  of these tiles on a Starship like the space shuttle.

  So we got to see how SpaceX can pull this off.
• 14:06
  If they can pull it off. And NASA is actually saying a
• 14:13
  date. For the Starship launch.
• 14:18
  If everything goes well, with the FAA, if everything goes well
• 14:21
  with SpaceX, if they can build a Starship by this time and they
• 14:25
  can get all the approval, the government approval for the
• 14:28
  fááá's flight, and the environmental impact NASA says
• 14:34
  Starship We'll be coming back down to earth in March, 20, 22.
• 14:44
  So we're hoping we're really hoping that this all happens
• 14:49
  sooner than later. Now, Elon wanted this thing to
• 14:53
  happen by chance you are. Is it possible that it can
• 14:58
  happen after March? Yes, they could definitely
• 15:02
  happen after March. They could happen.
• 15:06
  And I have, I have some, I've got a spill, some my guts here.

  I see a lot of people, a lot of space ex-employees, a lot of
• 15:14
  insiders people that know some stuff.

  I know a lot of them and I see them all over Brownsville.

  And I was speaking with one of them the other day and the
• 15:27
  person that I spoke with, I just I said, you know, we're just
• 15:31
  having a regular conversation. I was like, yeah, you know, it
• 15:33
  would be pretty cool in March of this thing flies.
• 15:36
  It'd be really neat if it flew before summer, and then you guys
• 15:38
  could build more throughout the summer and have great weather
• 15:41
  and blah, blah blah. and this person said, We plan on flying
• 15:48
  at in June, so that would be perfect.
• 15:52
  And I kind of went, I kind of take a step back and I said,
• 15:55
  June, I was like, isn't the FAA think done?
• 15:58
  You know, in March, will you guys be ready in March?
• 16:02
  He said, well looking like looking a little bit later than
• 16:06
  that said, okay? I was like we don't need to go
• 16:09
  to details or anything but there's a lot of infrastructure
• 16:11
  down there and Starship and booster for Both need extensive
• 16:17
  testing before the flight, so make sure that you stay tuned
• 16:24

  So this first proposed Mission the second stage which is the

  Starship SN 20 it'll be landing off the coast of Hawaii and the
• 17:06
  Pacific Ocean SpaceX expects the super-heavy and Starship would
• 17:11
  break up on impact. That's from an FAA report it'll
• 17:16
  sink because the Starship they're mostly made of steel and
• 17:21
  it'll break up on impact base. It's going to hit, you know,
• 17:23
  it's going to hit the ocean. It's not going to be perfect but
• 17:26
  it'll break. A cup enough that it'll sink.
• 17:28
  That's according to the FAA. Ted Ralston, retired aerospace
• 17:36
  engineer said, Hawaii would likely be ruled out for
• 17:39
  land-based returned. Rather SpaceX may have in mind
• 17:43
  sparsely populated or uninhabited islands in the
• 17:45
  Western Pacific with little commercial airs traffic.
• 17:48
  So it's possible that they launch starships.
• 17:55
  In the future and the land them to test out the landing of a
• 17:59
  Starship on the islands. In the Pacific Ocean, one of the
• 18:03
  smaller Islands pretty interesting.
• 18:09
  For these first test. I mean really they only need a
• 18:12
  landing pad. They don't really need much
• 18:16
  infrastructure for that. So if they could find a spot on
• 18:19
  one of the smaller islands and just, you know, get the FAA
• 18:24
  approval. And land on one of the islands,
• 18:27
  that would be absolutely amazing.

  It would take out a huge amount of the equation because they
• 18:33
  could learn how to land these Without destroying any of their
• 18:37
  current infrastructure at Boca Chica.
• 18:39
  Starbase interesting, that was one of the most interesting
• 18:43
  things that I've heard lately is a SpaceX.
• 18:45
  Could keep doing these orbital flights in land on an island.
• 18:51
  A tropical island, crazy sparsely populated are
• 18:56
  uninhabited. Islands the Western Pacific.
• 18:59
  Now that that's a, you know, that's a, that's another sticky
• 19:02
  situation because if it's uninhabited, there's a lot of
• 19:04
  wildlife there. I that nobody touches and could
• 19:08
  SpaceX make a landing pad, you know, on the like top of a hill
• 19:12
  on top of a mountain, it's possible but they would have to
• 19:16
  get so many they have to get through so many regulations to
• 19:19
  do that. And they're building Mecha Zilla
• 19:23
  down here at Starbase a giant Tower 450 foot tall tower which
• 19:29
  will eventually eventually catch these things so it will
• 19:35
  eventually catch a Starship, eventually catch a booster.
• 19:40
  That's going to be crazy in the future.
• 19:45
  So getting permits to land in Texas.
• 19:49
  It's a ballistic reentry. And it might be more complicated
• 19:55
  than getting the permission of landing on an island.
• 20:00
  So, You know, you develop this, gigantic rocket Factory, you
• 20:05
  don't want to stray booster to smash into the tower.
• 20:11
  And ruin everything that you built for the last year, you
• 20:13
  know. So I think landing on an island
• 20:17
  is absolutely imperative for SpaceX and Starship in the
• 20:21
