- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy. Into the.
- 0:21World. So welcome to the coop, and
- 0:23let's start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:28Hey everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:30coop. I'm so happy to be saying that
- 0:32again. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:34coop. So one of the things that I
- 0:37forgot to mention about something that we did on our
- 0:40trip was that we got to go out on a whale watch.
- 0:43Now, many people have not been on a whale watch.
- 0:46Many people have, depending upon if you live on a coast and
- 0:48you've ever been on one, they're pretty incredible.
- 0:51I went out on them when I lived in Massachusetts a lot when I
- 0:54was younger. Not with my parents, ironically,
- 0:58but with myself or whoever I, I had a boyfriend at the time or
- 1:01whatever. We would always find ways to go
- 1:03on whale watches because I was really into doing that and
- 1:07watching the whales and going through the, you know, the, the
- 1:10whole experience of hunting for them and trying to see if
- 1:13they're there and catching them on pictures.
- 1:15I mean, you know, I'm obsessed with taking pictures.
- 1:18So one of the things that about going to California is that you
- 1:23have opportunities to really see interesting things out there at
- 1:27the Pacific Ocean, different animals, different times of the
- 1:30year. So I was super excited about
- 1:32that. And there was a chance, albeit a
- 1:34small one, that we might be able to see some humpbacks or what.
- 1:38So I was like, ah, OK, we're doing this.
- 1:41So the last day before we get on the flight, we were taking the
- 1:44red eye home. And before we get on the flight,
- 1:46we decided in that morning we were going to take the kids and
- 1:50we were going to go out for this whale watch.
- 1:52And we got there. First of all, it was cold by
- 1:56being cold for me anyway. And I was like, had to buy a
- 2:00sweatshirt, 'cause I was cold. And I just kept thinking about,
- 2:02Oh my gosh, I hope we get to see, you know, whales and
- 2:06dolphins. Whales and dolphins.
- 2:07Well, turns out we only saw one whale, and that was a minky
- 2:11whale. And it was special, but it was
- 2:13really hard to see and it was farther away.
- 2:15But we had the blessing and the gift of being surrounded by a
- 2:21super pod of dolphins, which the captain estimated to be anywhere
- 2:25from 3 to 500 dolphins swimming all around us through, you know,
- 2:31with the boat jumping in and out of the wakes coming alongside.
- 2:35You could see the mothers with the babies right beside them,
- 2:39multiple mothers with babies, babies swimming.
- 2:42And it was one of the most glorious experiences I can ever
- 2:49say I had out on one of these hunts.
- 2:52Now, what was killing me was I only had my iPhone with me.
- 2:56I couldn't, I couldn't shoot it any other way.
- 2:58And I was like, I don't even know what's going to come up
- 3:00with this, but I just kept focusing on I'm getting great
- 3:03shots, I'm getting great shots, I'm getting great shots.
- 3:06And I got some really great shots.
- 3:09And then the naturalist on board was taking pictures so we could
- 3:12buy those pictures at the end so that we would have some.
- 3:15And she was shooting them with no glare.
- 3:17So you got to see even more clearly what was going on under
- 3:20the ocean, under the surface of the ocean.
- 3:22And it was such a divine experience to be able to have
- 3:28that in my life, to be able to see it.
- 3:31I sat there when we were on the boat and they were swimming.
- 3:35My son looked at me and there were just tears streaming down
- 3:37my face. I could cry right now thinking
- 3:39about it because here you have these absolutely beautiful
- 3:45beings. And I don't even want to say
- 3:48animals because they're to me, they're just, you know, they're
- 3:51just such a, a special soul. They're just these, you know,
- 3:57sential beings that are just unbelievable.
- 4:00And I just, you just know that they have such an intelligence.
- 4:05And just because they live in the water and they live
- 4:07differently than this doesn't mean they're not smart.
- 4:10And you watch them and you watch them playing with us and you
- 4:13watch them how they come up and they look right at you.
- 4:16You see their eyes looking right at you.
- 4:18And you know, on some level they're looking at us and
- 4:21saying, what are they doing? And we're looking at them and
- 4:23going, wow, what are they doing? And it's just, it is a spiritual
- 4:28experience. So if you ever get a chance to
- 4:30do it, go do it because it will, it will connect you with nature
- 4:35in a very different way. And for me, that's what this is
- 4:38all about is connecting with the surroundings, with nature in a
- 4:42very different way. And it was, it was such an
- 4:47impactful moment and it was the end of the trip.
- 4:50It was the end of the trip and it was such a special end of the
- 4:53trip that I will never forget that end of the trip.
- 4:57And that's the point I'm trying to make.
- 4:59So when we were trying to decide, should we go, Shouldn't
- 5:02we go? You know, it wasn't cheap to go
- 5:04on it. Should we spend the money on it?
- 5:06I am so glad that I did it because it was such a moment in
- 5:12time that I will never forget. So the question is, how do we
- 5:18create more of those moments in time that we will never forget?
- 5:23And we have to look for them. We have to seek them out.
- 5:25And we have to be willing, always willing to, to notice
- 5:29them. And whether they're small or
- 5:31big, whether it's something that's just happening in your
- 5:34world or something you have to go out and say go on a whale
- 5:37watch to see. Every night when I go to close
- 5:40the coop out, I have a special moment because I have one
- 5:44chicken named Sammy that will come over and she will wait for
- 5:48me at the door. She waits for me to say
- 5:50goodnight to her every single night.
- 5:53And that is a special moment for me.
- 5:55I will never forget her for that, just like I will never
- 5:58forget Dottie for showing up and always jumping up into my lap
- 6:02and into my arms. And I will never forget this
- 6:05whale watch and this super pod of dolphins.
- 6:09So the question is, what can we do to create more of that in our
- 6:12life? Because I don't know about you,
- 6:13but I'm going to work diligently on that.
- 6:16So I hope you guys have a blessed day and I will see you
- 6:19all tomorrow. Bye.
