- 0:05[SPEAKER_01]: Hi, I'm Connor Jones, I'm Mike Atama-Sella, and this is Culture Brief, a Dinnison Foreign Podcast where we navigate the constant stream of top stories and news, politics, sports, pop culture, technology, and so much more.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: We do it all from a Christian perspective, and Mike, the Seattle Seahawks, are the Super Bowl champions.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_01]: You kind of predicted it a few weeks ago.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_01]: What do you know?
- 0:27[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I said the Patriots were going to win, right?
- 0:29[SPEAKER_02]: But I did say Super Bowl.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you're right.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_02]: I did pick the Patriots, but I did say in the Super Bowl before the playoffs started, that it was going to be the Seahawks and the Patriots.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_02]: And I think the only reason why I was rooting for the Patriots was because I picked the Patriots to win, and I could come on the podcast and glow that I got it correct.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_02]: But, alas, I got it pretty close.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, so Connor, we've got quite a few things to talk about, you and I are gonna just give everybody kind of a cultural roundup.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_02]: There's so many big stories, and so we wanna make sure that we're covering all of them.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_02]: We're gonna talk about the Super Bowl.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot less talk about the actual game, and the commercials, and a lot more talk about the halftime show.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_02]: We're gonna spend some time on that, but not too much time, I promise.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_02]: We're gonna talk about AI, some shifting in the market the last week, and kind of some of the infighting amongst.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_02]: the AICEOs and even some of the shots taken at certain AI companies from other certain AI companies.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to talk about the Trump AI video that was treated out from his account that has to do with the Obama's.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to talk about more Epstein fallout as more of these again.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_02]: They released millions of documents on a single day.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_02]: So it's going to take some time for this thing to, you know, for this to actually become through.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_02]: And then we're going to talk a little bit about the winter Olympics and what's going on for the US over there in Italy and so much more so let's jump into the brief the brief
- 1:58[SPEAKER_02]: All right, so let's talk about the Super Bowl.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_02]: Let's talk about the game, the halftime.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, it was a dominant defensive performance that carried the Seattle Seahawks to a 29 to 13 win over the New England Patriots.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_02]: 98% of the country was rooting for the Seahawks because the Patriots have just been so dominant in this century.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_02]: and it was not a very good game.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_02]: In fact, I struggled to even want to watch it after half time.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_01]: I watched if I'm wrong, but I believe you texted me in the third quarter and said, you turned the game off.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: Is that all right?
- 2:30[SPEAKER_02]: I did.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_02]: I did for a little while.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_02]: I switched it over.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_02]: My wife wanted to watch something else.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, honestly, this is these commercials aren't that great.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_02]: and I've already seen the halftime show and I already know how the game is going to go based off what I saw in the first half.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be a defensive dominating game and it was just I was like man, I don't care if either of these teams win.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_02]: And so I just turned it off for a little bit but then I turned it off, turned it back on at the end to see the Seahawks seal it and win it.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they do.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_02]: You want me to experience like, I'm not necessarily complaining.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's an American past time at holiday.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_02]: I do love the Super Bowl, but this one just felt, I don't know, just a little bit different.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: This one felt very mad all around the game.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: I personally, and I know we're going to talk about the half time show.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't like love the half time show.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: I felt that was kind of mad.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: And then I felt like the commercials were very,
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: Man, like I just all around a stinker in my opinion.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: This happens every now and then sometimes you get a stinker of a game Sometimes you get a game that goes to overtime.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: So it just that was like two years ago, right when we had the chiefs and you got Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelsey and Taylor swips in the audience like that changes the the dynamics of the game So I think a lot of people knew this was going to be a defensive game with these two teams and I think everybody knew the Patriots might have been a fraud of a team with an easy schedule that beat a backup quarterback and a blizzard
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: two oxy go and made their way to Super Bowl and they were all the way is going to get dominated.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's just good for the sea oxy.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you know, they pulled it off.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_01]: They did have a dominant defense.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: You cannot deny that.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_01]: They won.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_01]: Sam Donald redemption story guy who was pretty much written off a few years ago and now you know just quarterback.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I just played for the jets.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_02]: So it can't get any worse than that.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_02]: You know, he played for the jets.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's true.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_02]: It's just a death wish in the
- 4:14[SPEAKER_02]: But the Patriot's not being for real and more about how for real the Seahawks were.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_02]: I think, gone or the days, it seems like, now that the chief's dynasty seems to kind of be over, we'll see, when you have Patrick Mahomes, you always have a chance.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_02]: But at the same time, Sam Darnold, most people even after this probably would not rate him as a top 10 quarterback in the NFL.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_02]: And so it's really all about complimentary football, all three phases, offense, defense, and then your special teams, all doing their jobs, all feeding into each other, and then you just holistically can dominate a team on every side of the ball.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_02]: And that's exactly what happened.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, even special teams, the CX Kicker, five field goals.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: That's the most ever in Super Bowl history.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: So everybody came out and did their job.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_01]: And I know Kenneth Walker, the third, he got the Super Bowl MVP, which is great.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_01]: He played pretty well.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: There was nobody that really stood out.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: I guess it was him, but he's a good guy, good player, as well, had 135 yards on 27 carry.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_01]: So good for him.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: But, Micah, as you said, it's definitely felt like most of the country was talking about,
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: the halftime show either just about bad bunny in general or the split with the kid rock show and it the online discourse was pretty uh pretty active during the halftime show.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: If you were on any social media you saw people posting who they were watching why they were watching it and making their opinions loud and clear but all around what were your thoughts there.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I just didn't like it because I think it kind of steals the joy, it kind of stole some of the joy and brought way more politics into the Super Bowl than I would ever want.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_02]: and the discussion wasn't about the teams that persevered and got there.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't even about the commercials.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_02]: That, like, there were some funny commercials in there.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_02]: Like, we didn't really get to talk about that.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it just felt like, I mean, we didn't host a Super Bowl party this year.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_02]: We didn't go to Super Bowl party.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_02]: It was kind of nice to just relax and watch it.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_02]: But I don't think I would have wanted to go to a Super Bowl party this year because it was just, there was so much dogmas surrounding it.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_02]: and I think that you can kind of blame both sides for that because here's what's happened is like if you're watching the turning point, USA show, you're this.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_02]: If you're watching the actual halftime show, you're this.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_02]: Like it automatically means you're this.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_02]: And I just think it overall, it's somewhat of a trivial thing to argue about.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_02]: I just think that there's more things that we can unite on and coalesce around than if we like a halftime show or not.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_02]: And here's all all
- 6:55[SPEAKER_02]: I have seen so many worse halftime shows than that one.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we have not had a great halftime show in a while.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_02]: And I think this one wasn't bad.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_02]: I think it told a story, somewhat interesting, you know?
- 7:11[SPEAKER_02]: Even though I didn't understand like a word that he was saying, like I had a good beat and I thought it was like a good vibe.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's kind of like what's like coming out of it.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't have it.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_02]: Overall, huge issue with it.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_02]: Also thought there was a chance that he could have been more device
- 7:26[SPEAKER_02]: he wasn't like I did really have a huge issue with much of it, you know, and there's there's people who are going to come back and be upset that I said that, but I just think it wasn't that bad and in terms of halftime shows that we've seen over the years, that actually means
- 7:42[SPEAKER_02]: It was probably okay, it's probably good, you know?
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: So I agree it's he actually reiterated the statement he said at the Grammys the weekend before the previous Sunday at the end It showed on all the screens and I think it said it on the football that he was holding The only thing more powerful than hate is love and together we are America that was kind of the primary message of his thing and I actually think that was in a way
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: a great thing to say like he had this opportunity a lot of people thought he was going to make a device of make it political and he didn't.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm right there with you there was a story it was a party vibe you had a bunch of cameos from big time Latin celebrities and yeah the music was not for me like I think it sounds better my headphones probably too.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: coming than coming through the TV speakers.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: I get that's just different.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: I did not personally enjoy watching that fact.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: My wife and I was like, this just doesn't sound great.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's not exactly his fault.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's also daytime in California during the Super Bowl, which just felt wrong.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: And so this is like a daytime halftime show.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: I just kind of like, you're almost kind of like a musical.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_02]: It was almost kind of like it took you through all these different sets and I think the unique nature of it of why I was like, okay, like this isn't half bad because it was taking you through a story from start to finish of like being in Puerto Rico and a family and like all of these different things and there's this wedding ceremony.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_02]: I just thought it was, I thought it was like really unique, but I mean, overall we're sitting here and we're talking about this the entire time.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: I have felt like, and I think we've said this like the last two weeks.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_02]: Guys, there's bigger things to worry about than Super Bowl halftime shows.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_02]: And this has felt like a trivial matter to me.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_02]: Like, if you're thinking about, oh, hey, guys, are you news or you commentary?
- 9:18[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I mean, overall we're covering the news every week, and then we're giving our commentary, we're giving a biblical application of it.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_02]: But if you really look back, and you look at all of the stories that we've talked about, there has been so much emotion in vitriol around the story that I wish there was more and more,
- 9:33[SPEAKER_02]: emotion towards some of these other stories that we've talked about, that's actually more like life or death type stuff, you know, actual geopolitical, you know, consequences type stuff.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_02]: So it's just the whole time I've just been like, why are we so mad?
- 9:47[SPEAKER_02]: Right now, but I think it's just kind of
- 9:50[SPEAKER_02]: It's just an example of where our culture is and just kind of where the divide is right now.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's just sad.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: No, you're exactly right.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think it is fair to say that the turning point you would say show did get a decent audience as well.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: And from, I watched clips of that one.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: I watched the bad money one live.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: I was watching clips and kind of on Twitter as that was going,
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: on live, and it was clear that Kid Rock was definitely lip syncing, his words did not match up at all, so I thought that was gonna funny, but at the NT did pay tribute to Charlie Card and added a verse to one of his songs about the gospel and saying, you know, you need Jesus before you don't have the opportunity to accept him, essentially.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: Which I think is pretty cool.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: That said, it was a very small audience compared to what NBC got over there.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it was like 128 million total is who watched the Super Bowl this year.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's a little bit less than last year, which was the record breaker.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_02]: But you were always one minute free, I just read it.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_02]: 133 a year before 125 this year, I believe.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well, I'll find the numbers and post a link in the in the show notes so we can get the exact numbers right either way mass of audience there and that's the way the Superbowl goes I did want to point out something that Jackson Smith and Jigbas said now this is the guy who won offensive rookie of the I'm sorry offensive player of the best wide receiver in the league this year by far is on the seahawks is now Super Bowl champion and this guy if you just listen to him talk it's really cool he talks about his faith he talks about growing up his dad helping him get on the right path with football and everything
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: And he's in the interview guy.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: Do you have rock wall Texas?
- 11:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, let's go.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: He's a Texas boy.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: And Christian Gonzalez, who's the best defender on the field the other night is from the colony Texas too.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_02]: The most the the most players playing in the Super Bowl like from any state like what's Texas like from Texas.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_02]: It was like 15 players in the Super Bowl were from Texas in the second surprising California with 13.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_02]: And that crazy it's it's it's crazy.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_02]: But that's just Texas totally opposite coast teams.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for sure.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: Well, anyways, Jackson's been thinking about after he won the offensive player of the year.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: He posted a video and he just he said I give all the glory to God and my faith comes first that's what I stand on that's who I am everything else is everything else.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_01]: I am a follower of Christ.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a son.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a brother and then I'm a football player, but Jesus for me is everything.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: This is who I do it for.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm here to serve him and to serve others man.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_01]: That is the mentality to have.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I know a lot of players have that mentality.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_01]: I saw support spectrum is going around asking these Super Bowl players about their faith and so many of them kind of reiterated the same thing.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: And it's just like, at the end of the day, we can talk about half-time shows.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: We can talk about all the divisiveness, all the what's commercial, blah, blah, blah, all this.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: But at the end of the day, man, when Jesus is glorified, it's so cool.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: And these guys, glorified Jesus in the moment where they could be as prideful as they want to be.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_01]: And the world would be okay with it.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: They're pushing the glory to God.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: That's what's amazing.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_02]: Well,
- 12:36[SPEAKER_02]: Connor, thanks for pointing that out because this is what he said there is not going to go viral, it's not going to grab all the headlines, it's not sensational, it doesn't arouse fear or an extreme emotion in you, but this is the type of thing that we should be talking about, especially on our podcast, is somebody giving all glory to God at the absolute pinnacle, taking glory away from themselves,
- 13:00[SPEAKER_02]: and giving it to God, the author, the creator, the one who gifted him and placed him there.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_02]: So that's a beautiful thing.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_02]: All right, Connor, let's talk AI.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_01]: AI, yeah, it's interesting.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_01]: Let's, I want to bring this up because one of the things that happened during the Super Bowl was if you were watching the commercials, you could not miss the AI ads.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: They were just every three or four ads.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_02]: And they were compelling.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_02]: They were compelling.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: Some of them were compelling, especially anthropics, which is one that has, as you mentioned earlier, there's been some, like, infighting between the CEOs of these companies, anthropic, whose models, called Clawd, we use that here at Densea Misters actually for some of our developing on our website ends, it helps us out with coding.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of its business expertise, but they launched a new model last week that's getting more wide release and more people are learning about anthropic and all that.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_01]: Well, they didn't have a commercial that kind of was a dig at Open AI, because Open AI recently
- 13:52[SPEAKER_01]: If you saw their ad, it was kind of digging at that and saying, you know, you're soon going to be engaging with AI that's going to drop in a promo code to buy a pair of shoes, you know, things like that, trying to suggest algorithmic purchases and all that.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_01]: That was a dig and Sam Altman was not happy about that.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: He posted on Twitter a big like this is a wrong way to, you know, understand how we're going to do ads and all that.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_01]: He was not very happy.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_01]: But,
- 14:14[SPEAKER_01]: all that to say, yeah, man, the ads were everywhere.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, they made up a quarter, almost a quarter.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think 23% of the ads during the Super Bowl were from AI companies are like Microsoft showing their and Google showing their AI models.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's here, man, and it's not going away.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_01]: And they are spending big bucks to make sure we know it's here.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that said.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's also really affecting the markets and we've talked a lot about how AI is going to upend the workplace and white-collar jobs and all kinds of different things and productivity down the road.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_01]: But last week, the markets really reacted because of anthropics, new model, chatchipyT released a new model that kind of showed, they've got more coding capabilities than we've known and they are...
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: kind of working to replace software companies.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_01]: So that really takes companies like Microsoft, Salesforce, Adobe, they all lost big time in the stock market last week.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of come back up this week as people have started to realize, maybe there was a panic sell there.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_01]: But these new workplaces, assistant tools,
- 15:11[SPEAKER_01]: the really kind of adapted for specific white color industries, specifically legal and data software, which is what those companies specialize in.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_01]: If you look at sales force and stuff, their whole thing is data, helping companies improve their data software as a service companies.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_01]: And so a lot of people were calling this like the SOS POCKALYPS because, SOS POCKALYPS.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_01]: SOS POCKALYPS.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_01]: Is it SOS or SOS?
- 15:33[SPEAKER_01]: I never know.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: I always read it and I just don't even know.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_02]: SOS POCKALYPS sounds like
- 15:40[SPEAKER_02]: something to do with some various sauces ranch and Alfredo sauce barbecue sauce just modern that's gone barbecue honey mustard catch up I think it like the economy I was just empty yeah that's on that we said that wrong all that to say that some of those stocks started recovering this so you really took y'all
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: But some of the stocks started recovering this week though, and investors were started, you know, to figure out, was that a panic or not, these companies are trying to say, don't worry, we are still going to be around AI is not going to take our jobs.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to actually use AI to improve our capabilities, but it might be true.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_01]: Man, if AI can build software faster than a human coder can, why would people, why would companies use that as a service?
- 16:21[SPEAKER_01]: Totally.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, man, they spent a lot of money on the Super Bowls ads, that's not new.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_01]: We saw this in 2000 with the dot com companies, you know, like pets.com and epidemic.com, lifeminders.com, all bot Super Bowls ads.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_01]: And then a few months later, the dot com bubble burst and they were all right, not even existing anymore.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: We saw it with the crypto bowl in 2022, where all those crypto companies,
- 16:43[SPEAKER_01]: bought ads as well.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: And then a few months later, FTX was in a fraud scandal and crypto.com was struggling in Coinbase their shares tank.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_01]: So AI is kind of doing what those companies did.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_01]: Buy up a lot of things.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_01]: Bring up awareness, but will they stick around?
- 16:56[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, man.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see them.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: All that to say.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: AIs here.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to have to learn how to adapt.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_01]: And as Christians, we're going to keep talking about that.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: We just released an article this week on December 4 about churches using AI.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: So go read that.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'll link that in the show notes as well.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_01]: But, oh yeah.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_01]: Michael, what do you any last thoughts on this AI kind of just weird market last week?
- 17:18[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_02]: This might just be like more of a personal anecdote.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_02]: None of this surprises me.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_02]: More importantly, none of this surprises God.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_02]: So let's all take a deep breath when we see some of
- 17:29[SPEAKER_02]: If you haven't used any kind of AI tool yet, give it a shot.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_02]: Start to ask you questions, start to learn it.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_02]: Oddly enough, it starts to learn you.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_02]: You got to get more comfortable with that, right?
- 17:43[SPEAKER_02]: But it's actually a really helpful tool.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_02]: And so I just, I don't think the answer is to be like, oh, I'm never going to touch that stuff.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, maybe if you're like, you're done with your career, or whatever, and you've already retired.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_02]: you know what you know got to learn something new that's fine like I get that right but why not give it a shot get rock or chat GPT or clawed or something just get a free version just start asking at questions it's actually pretty cool yeah I mean I've definitely been asking the questions to try to learn how these things answer try to learn how it can help productivity even things around the house like just asking like
- 18:16[SPEAKER_01]: How does this thing work?
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: ChatGPT, explain to me how to fix this electronic item that I'm sure about with, you know, all that stuff.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: So, it's quick with it, man.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_01]: It really does respond pretty fast.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_02]: I will literally take a photo of just like a bunch of random ingredients.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_02]: that like I haven't my pantry like the day before grocery shopping and like what can I make with all of this and it it gives me something good.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_02]: I mean it's just it's just fun.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_02]: Well, let's talk about Trump's video AI video that he reposted that was on his truth social account for 12 hours.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: So this week brought one of the most
- 18:59[SPEAKER_02]: A video shared on President Trump on his social media included an AI generated imagery at the end, depicting former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama as primates.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_02]: This is a racist, kind of trope thought with a long and painful history.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_02]: The clip was a part of a longer election fraud related video that Trump was posting and this was just kind of thrown in at the very end.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_02]: It seemed somewhat random.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_02]: But the primate imagery posted during Black History Month sparked universal across both aisles, immediate condemnation from public figures across the political spectrum.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_02]: defended it, and they said that it was a meme, and then they blamed a staffer for the upload, which is still the story.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_02]: But ultimately deleted it roughly 12 hours later.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'll tell you what the straw was that broke the camel's back.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_02]: The backlash wasn't just partisan, as I said, the only black Republican senator is Tim Scott, and he called it
- 20:03[SPEAKER_02]: He tweeted out and he said, this is the most racist thing I've seen out of this White House while other Republicans urged in a apology.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_02]: Democrats and civil rights leaders described the imagery as dehumanizing offensive everything everybody was pretty much on the same page about that.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_02]: President Trump did not issue a formal apology saying he'd not watch the full video before it was posted and that while he condemned the racist portion, he did not believe he had to personally apologize because he had not done anything wrong.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_02]: The incident has renewed wider conversations around
- 20:36[SPEAKER_02]: AI-generated media in video, and it's usefulness and how it's being used in politics, and to take people down, and what it has to do with race, and is there accountability in this?
- 20:47[SPEAKER_02]: How do we create accountability within this?
- 20:48[SPEAKER_02]: And how quickly online stuff like this can escalate into, how like a 60-second AI video can become the biggest story, just like that, right?
- 21:00[SPEAKER_02]: You can just give AI software
- 21:02[SPEAKER_02]: three words and it can start to create an entire video.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's just, it's just unbelievable.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_02]: But I digress on that part.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_02]: Connor, what was your reaction to all that?
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: Well, first off to what you're saying, you're right about the power of AI videos, which is maybe why the president of the United States should not be engaging with AI videos at all.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and this is not the first time.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's been posting videos created by AI for over a year.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_01]: Anyways.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, yeah, man, I found that video in that image that went around from that kind of one second split second in the in the video to be terrible.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_01]: I could not even believe it and I found out about it because I was I saw Tim Scott the the center you just mentioned his tweet about it was like whoa whoa whoa whoa If Tim Scott saying something, then this is legit and I looked at it.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, oh my gosh, and then it's a close close close ally of Trump
- 21:51[SPEAKER_01]: Tim Scott was a vice presidential contender.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like with JD Vance and Marco Rubio was being considered to be Trump's vice president there.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_01]: They are very close and for him to come out and just condemn the White House like that and say this is the most racist thing I've seen out this White House is pretty bad and man the image is terrible and we obviously stand strongly against racism and I was very disappointed.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_02]: by this post and disappointed to see it and yeah, don't yeah, we're going to link um I actually got a lot of my information for this uh from a denison forum article that Dr. Jim denison wrote and produced on Sunday um this past Sunday so we're going to link the link to that article just kind of broke it down the history of
- 22:33[SPEAKER_02]: that type of uh... in the group or in the tree yeah would be the right word he kind of breaks that down and just
- 22:43[SPEAKER_02]: Talks about how, you know, there's nothing wrong with apologizing.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_02]: It's probably the right thing to do.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_02]: You know, things like that.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, but some pride.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's not going to let it apologize.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's just there's just no defense for it.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_02]: Like there's a lot of issues that you can kind of go back and forth like pros and cons and you and I try to do a really good job so that we can show both sides to whatever the story is.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_02]: they're I mean it's it's just indefensible.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so it really is the only thing you could say and what the White House is saying is yeah, this was a staffer and it was just it was at the end of the video and President Trump didn't see it which who knows if that's true or not the part of the problem is the president is on his phone in the middle of the night posting so yeah, I don't know and the video that it was about was actually about the Georgia election fraud
- 23:27[SPEAKER_01]: right and yeah a whole thing with that which is a whole other story we want to get into right now but yeah it's just pointing man um sad to see it I would wish we'd get better from the leader of the free world in our country but alas we're all fallen and so is President Trump and so there will be moments of extreme weakness there and we'll talk a bit more about that here in a minute I also want to hit on all the
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like you said at the beginning man 3 million documents people are still parsing through this and when I say people I mean like every day people you got the journalist doing it to New York Times Wall Street Journal They've got entire teams dedicated to parsing through all these documents, but there's a lot of just citizen journalists out on social media that are like going through them and pointing out things that they're finding in these documents and trying to alert congressmen when they find something really egregious and
- 24:16[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, if I could say one thing, it's just that there are some really dark, horrid things in some of these communications between Epstein and his friends, and his friends are these people on power all over the world, and we've talked about this a million times.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there are just, there are Middle East leaders, there are
- 24:32[SPEAKER_01]: British leaders.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_01]: There are Hollywood stars.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: There are people on Wall Street in politics.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_01]: Everything.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_01]: This man was in the middle of the most elite circles in the world.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_01]: And he was a shadow to the rest of us forever until this all started to come out 2019, but everybody else seemed to know who he was.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_01]: And if your name is just tied to it at all or anywhere in these files, it's not great.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_01]: As political put, and they're Tuesday morning newsletter that much of DC reads,
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: They said, 10 days on from the DOJ's mass dump of the Epstein files data, the revelations keep on coming.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_01]: The files thus far have largely exposed a murky world of conspiring elites with questionable moral standards.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's exactly what it is.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, these people, even if they did not do anything illegal, a lot of the ways that they're talking about young women or other people is just nasty and it's all getting exposed.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it shows a weakness of
- 25:24[SPEAKER_01]: Um, standards of morality of just anything of decency with the way that a lot of them are talking and I'm not even going to say any of the things are saying you if you are interested to find out you can go look at some of the stuff that's out there on social media, but it's pretty bad and people who are it's not why the heart had stuff.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's absolutely not.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_01]: So, and some of the other things more specifically that have been found, let's talk about some of the reactions that have happened, and some of the things that are coming out of this new file dump.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_01]: One of the things is, from 2006, there was a phone call with,
- 26:00[SPEAKER_01]: an FBI interviewer who was talking to the former Palm Beach Police Chief Palm Beach is where Epstein had one of his houses.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_01]: He was talking to police chief Michael Reiter and in the interview Reiter recalls a phone call that he said he received from Donald Trump himself in 2006 when the first investigation on Epstein was actually underway.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: He would call Trump saying, think goodness, you're stopping him, everyone has known he's been doing this and then Trump said Galane Maxwell, which is Epstein's like right hand person who a lot of you will know who that is.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: he said she is evil and recommended that they focus on her.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_01]: Trump also told writer that he was around Epstein once when teenagers were present in that Trump got the explodative out of there per the FBI report.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_02]: That was from an interview in 2006 he gave.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_01]: The FBI interview this police chief in 2019 he's recalling a 2006 phone call where Donald Trump was trying to put him on Epstein and say, hey, this guy's doing bad stuff as Trump found out that they were
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: started to investigate there back in 2006.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_01]: The reason this is important is because kind of directly contradicts Trump's public statements in 2019 that he had known nothing about Epson's activities, where it now seems like maybe he did actually know about that and he was trying to tell the police about it.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_01]: But it also corroborates the fact that Trump has long said he had a fallout with Epstein, and that they did not talk anymore in a kicked him out of Morales.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_02]: There's a whole story where he kicked him out of his country club in the early 2000s because he was doing stuff.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_02]: So it just kind of seemed like, here's the problem.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_02]: This is cover up culture.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_02]: It happens in the church too.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of controversy happening.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_02]: The charismatic church movement right now too with this stuff, but it's like,
- 27:33[SPEAKER_02]: all of these people, they either participated in it, or they knew about it, and they were disgusted by it, but then they did nothing about it.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_02]: They were completely silent about it.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_02]: They, in essence, covered it up by not doing anything about it.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_02]: So in a way, that implicates everyone involved that new Jeffrey Epstein, because it kind of seems like, especially towards the end, everybody knew what this guy was doing and what he was about.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it's hard to say many people were ignorant
- 28:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's very reminiscent of Harvey Weinstein, the Hollywood Muggle, who was the me-to movement started with him.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody in Hollywood knew what that guy was doing, and so they were in a way complicit by not bringing it up and just keeping her cover up going for so long.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_01]: Also, on Monday, Colleen Maxwell, who I mentioned a minute ago, actually appeared before the House Oversight Committee, but she pled the fifth the entire time she would not answer any questions.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_01]: But her legal team did argue that she could clear both Trump and Bill Clinton's name.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: in exchange for clemency from the president to in that 20 year sentence that she's currently serving in prison.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: So she's trying to get out of prison.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_01]: She's saying she can clear the name who knows if she actually can.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_01]: Anyways, you can imagine that Trump, if it's actually be interested.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_02]: But if it's just her word, how does that?
- 28:49[SPEAKER_02]: Because that's just her doing whatever she can to get out of it.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not implying the current president or former president for sure did something.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just saying like,
- 28:57[SPEAKER_02]: what and she have to bring evidence of some sort?
- 29:00[SPEAKER_01]: Man, you would think so.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe she's got something somewhere that she, I don't know, I don't know.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_01]: I really don't, but I imagine this is the car.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_01]: She's been holding this whole time.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_01]: She's got this way to clear their names in the hopes that she could get out of prison anyways.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: There's also a small bipartisan group of congressmen who, on Monday, were able to finally go see the unredacted versions.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_01]: So all the three million documents have redactions in them.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: They're supposed to be redacting the names of
- 29:23[SPEAKER_01]: Potential victims, but there's a lot of reductions that are very clearly email correspondence.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, whoa, Epstein's talking to somebody there that is not a victim, he's saying some terrible things.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_01]: This is clearly not going to be a victim.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_01]: And so these congressmen went in and they were able to see these undid redacted versions on some laptops, and they're saying that they've found six more names of very powerful influential men who they are willing to release the names if the DOJ does not go back and fix the unredactions.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_01]: That does potentially include less Wexner, who a lot of people have always tied back to Epsing, less Wexner is the founder and owner of Victoria's Secret.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody knows that his money is likely we're obscene actually got financing from Back in even the 80s and 90s and less wexner Man, he's been able to kind of hide out all these years, but now they're saying the congressmen's are saying They're potentially gonna bring him to the house oversight Committee to testify before congress next week.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_01]: He's in his late 80s now.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_01]: I believe But
- 30:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's been well known for a long time that he might be tied, but they're saying he might be a co-conspirator in the trafficking.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_01]: So we will see if he will go and testify before Congress next week and answer some pretty hard questions.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_01]: Additionally,
- 30:31[SPEAKER_01]: the pressures on how we're letting the commerce secretary also one of the best friends of Donald Trump.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_01]: He was neighbors with Epstein up in New York.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_01]: He was also a billionaire and claimed that they did not have connections after 2005 on a podcast live last year and now it's been very clear through these emails that he was he was he was not just talking to Epstein but he did go to the island and like I can't remember what year 2010 or something like that.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, not great.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_01]: He said that he wasn't communicating with him after the 2005, and that's not exactly the truth.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_01]: And then more specifically, we're going to potentially see the UK Prime Minister, loose his job over this whole thing.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_01]: And he's not even in the files.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: Here's Darmer, did a point.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: A guy, his name is Peter Mendelssohn, to be the ambassador to the United States last year, even though he knew Mendelssohn had connections to Epstein.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: And these documents have revealed that Mendelssohn did not just have connections.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_01]: He was like best friends with Epstein.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: and very, very slimy in a lot of the physical communications and he was leaking information to Epstein about the UK's tax just policy, which is not great.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_01]: And so Starmer is under a lot of heat for that and may be forced to step down.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there are a lot of implications to this and we're going to do our best to keep you all in the loop.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_02]: It is widely available, the redacted versions for people to go and look.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_02]: Again, not suggesting you go do that, but if you're curious and if you want to, it's out there and it is publicly released.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: One more thing Michael we had a we had a great article this week on this inform about how to talk to kids about Epstein stuff Um, so we'll link that as well Specifically more so teenagers because your teens are probably if you have teenagers They're probably talking about this stuff at school or they're seeing it on social media So how can you engage them in a conversation about Love this all is and what I mean is yeah, we'll link that as well Great plug.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_02]: Well, let's let's wrap up here with talking a little bit about the winter Olympics that are currently happening right now
- 32:28[SPEAKER_02]: The 2026 winner Olympics are underway right now in Milan and Cortina.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_02]: It's the first time the winter games have officially split hosting duties between two cities.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_02]: I thought that that was kind of interesting.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_02]: That's why it's called Milan, Cortina, is because the figure skating and hockey and all that stuff like the arena type things.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_02]: That's in Milan and the snow sports are in the Alps of Italy.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_02]: Italy has crazy climate differences from North to South, right?
- 32:56[SPEAKER_02]: but the northern part of Italy is closer to Switzerland and so they're in the Alps and so that's where you're seeing like all the snow sports skiing snow boarding stuff like that.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_02]: So from a US standpoint, the big story lines have been strong showings and things like snowboarding, alpine skiing, curling, women's hockey with a mix of veterans and first-time Olympians, the overall I've for American fans has been upbeat as more metal events roll into the final stretch and I just think like,
- 33:24[SPEAKER_02]: That's just more of what we need.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_02]: Like we just see Americans cheering on Americans who are at the height of their athletic and mental prowess.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_02]: They've worked their entire life for this.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_02]: Let's all watch the Olympics and cheer on our fellow Americans to victory.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think that that would be a positive thing for us to all do.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_02]: But for US viewers, just FYI, if you haven't watched anything yet.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_02]: NBC and all of its partner networks are carrying the main broadcast while peacock like if you have the app has essentially every event live or on replay that you would ever want to watch.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_02]: There's also something certain cable networks instrument networks have something called the gold zone.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_02]: So anytime that there is something's about to be awarded or it's kind of like the Olympic version of like a Olympic red zone, sorry, so it's like the NFL red zone but like the Olympic red zone called the gold zone where it's like
- 34:14[SPEAKER_02]: This is a competition for the gold medal.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_02]: This is a medal round, whatever it might be.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_02]: It'll do like four different boxes.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_02]: It'll quadbox it for you and show you four different events at the same time.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_02]: I have really been enjoying watching the Olympic so far.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_01]: What about you?
- 34:27[SPEAKER_01]: Me too.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_01]: Today I was kind of like eating lunch and in the background.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_01]: I had the curling on.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_01]: And I got on pins and needles due because it was the end of the U.S. versus Sweden.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_01]: And we ended up getting Sweden.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't win that match, but the U.S. team got a silver medal, which is still amazing.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_01]: And you just see the, I love seeing Olympians, and I saw a loser do it at the same time, because I was watching gold zone.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_01]: They had a split screen out.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_01]: This loser won the gold medal.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_01]: And the way that they just, the celebrate because this has been their life's achievement.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_01]: They have done their entire life shows.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's beautiful.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_01]: They're curling or stealing anything hockey.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_01]: It.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's just incredible.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_01]: I love the Olympics.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really excited for Snowboard Halfpipe to get to go in.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_01]: That is my favorite sport to watch.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_01]: Sean White made that so popular back in the day.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_01]: And I just, yeah, I think these people are the most impressive athletes in the world, specifically when bigger skaters do backflips and land on one leg.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_01]: I can't even imagine how you pull that off.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's just incredible.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: Ilya, yeah, he's insane.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_01]: Ilya Mellonan.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's all achievements.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_01]: These people will achieve our just insane.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I've been enjoying it.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I was also, I just want to say, I'm sorry to see the end of Lindsey Vaughn's career in the way that it did with that crash.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_01]: But she did try to go out there on a torn ACL, which was risky and also insane.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even know how you perform on a torn ACL.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_01]: But she did for about 13 seconds before she crashed and then broke her leg, which was unfortunate.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_01]: But hey, she was out there.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm mentioning Lindsey Von because Dr. Jim Dynaston had a great article this week about Lindsey Von, and kind of the idea of success and failure and what that means.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, my God, this week we've seen immense successes and brutal failures, both in the highs of the Super Bowl and winning gold medals.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_01]: Even AI has had successes this week and prompting more innovation.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_01]: But man, we've also seen failures.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_01]: We have seen the evils of racism and sexual exploitation and the killing of jobs because of AI.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_01]: Right?
- 36:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like, there's highs and lows and as Dr. Jim Dinnison talked about with Lindsay Vaughn, she posted after the crash, which ended her career, since because she's 41 years old, this is probably the end of the line for her scheme career.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_01]: She said the only failure in life is not trying.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_01]: But then Dr. Dinnison quoted Francis Chan, a great pastor.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_01]: And he, uh, the quote said, our greatest fear should not be a failure, but of succeeding at things in life that don't really matter, and Dr. Yeah, interesting, right?
- 36:48[SPEAKER_01]: Kind of a kind of flips everything on its head, right?
- 36:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, Dr. Anderson then points out that if we do choose faith in the Lord, Satan wants us to do so, not because it is true, but because he would
- 37:04[SPEAKER_01]: clergy sexual abuse scandals or racism or greed or any other sin that just leaves a stain on our faith, Satan wants to twist our faith to make us look hypocritical to make Christianity look bad, right?
- 37:17[SPEAKER_01]: He loves to see Christians who are on a pedestal fall down and fail.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_01]: It just makes Christianity look like a terrible faith, like a bad religion when people
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: say that they have a faith, but they don't exemplify it whatsoever.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, they do things that make it look really bad.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's why Paul prayed and Ephesians 3 that God would grant us as Christians to be strengthened with the power through his spirit in our inner being.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: that we might have the street to comprehend with all the saints.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_01]: What is the breadth and length and height and depth and to know the love of Christ that surpasses all knowledge that you and I may be filled with all the fullness of God.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_01]: So, Mike, I just, you know, the stories, some of them really tough to comprehend, some of them are...
- 38:01[SPEAKER_01]: are great, and we can celebrate the Seahawksh one in the Super Bowl, and these Olympians achieving such amazing goals and successes.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_01]: But as we think about successes and failures in not just that, but in politics and sports and tech and everything in our culture, we should also examine our own lives, our own hearts.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_01]: And remember that in the biblical context, the only failure in life for us is not trying to do God's will and God's power for God's glory.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's what we're supposed to be doing.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's our success, is living out God's will, glorifying His name, and Jackson Smith and Jacoba did that.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_01]: He's been talented.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_01]: and blessed by God with his just incredible wide receiver talents, and he glorified God when he talked about winning offensive player of the year.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_01]: This massive award, and then won the Super Bowl.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's God who's been glorified.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about this with for Fernando Mendoza with the Indiana football team recently too, doing the same thing.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_01]: That is what is success man.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_01]: When we are living out God's will, and it gets me fired up man to think about how God can use so many Christians when we accept that as the true success in life.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so just remember that there are always beautiful things happening even in a dark world and in a dark culture and dark moments, there's just amazing things we can look to as well.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_02]: Love it.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you Connor.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_02]: Great job of taking all these stories and wrapping it up in a nice little bow for something that we can apply to our lives and how we are continuing to just invite God into our news consumption and the way that we Live in this world and consume current events and try to be a part of the redemption of all of it.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_02]: That's great.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_02]: Well, let's let's talk about the mail back here for a minute.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_02]: I want, we want to continue to hear from each and every one of you.

- 39:55[SPEAKER_02]: So, it's a question.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's a question.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_01]: Send your complaints to Micah.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, sure.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_02]: Send them to CultureBreath at dinnisonforum.org and follow us at CultureBreath podcast on Instagram.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_02]: You guys, again, we sit every week.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_02]: We're just so thankful for the audience engagement.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_02]: And everybody who's taking this journey with us.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_02]: And so we just invite you to keep doing it.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's take it on a few things here.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's still be real fast because there's not really a whole lot that we're looking forward towards.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we got the Olympic still going on that will definitely continue to tune into.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_01]: But one thing we are watching is the Savannah and Nancy Guthrie.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_01]: Just this Nancy Guthrie being kidnapped from our home and potentially held for ransom.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_01]: That is what everybody is reporting in Savannah Guthrie.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, from the today's show, this is just captivated the nation.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_01]: This kind of like,
- 40:44[SPEAKER_01]: weird dynamic of like everybody is so caring but also there's true crime and there's internet sleuth's trying to figure it out and the government is trying to, you know, we got the FBI down there.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_01]: Cash Patel is down in Tucson, Arizona trying to find Nancy Guthrie and it's really sad this is an 84 year old woman with health issues and who's in the golden years of her life who should be able to live.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_01]: freely and retire well and be surrounded by her family and her grandkids everything and this has happened and uh i as of right now we are recording on Tuesday night she has not been found they do not know where she is i did just see before came on here that swat vehicles were sent out potentially to a destination where they may have a lead but i don't know right now hopefully by the time you're listening to this she has been found and found alive but
- 41:26[SPEAKER_01]: Man, we're watching this with you guys, and hopefully you guys have all had the same thought as us, which is hit our knees and pray and pray for a good solution here, and that justice is held and that ultimately God can redeem any situation and that he would redeem the situation as well.
- 41:42[SPEAKER_01]: Michael, I mean, it just thoughts there.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_01]: You've been watching anything specific.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's just, it's very, it has very much captivated the nation.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's like a movie and all the worst ways.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_02]: You know, kind of that kidnapping for ransom was this a random home invasion?
- 41:59[SPEAKER_02]: Is there, there?
- 42:01[SPEAKER_02]: other actors trying to come in and bad actors trying to come in and claim ransom money and there's all these ransom notes and it's it's been it's been tough to decipher i just i hope that she's alive and she can be brought home safe and ultimately peace can be brought to the family
- 42:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and every the word that keeps coming up Savannah got three keeps posting every time on Instagram It she says nightmare.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_01]: This is just a big nightmare And I think that's exactly accurate.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_01]: She's supposed to be in Milan at the Olympics right now helping host the Olympic games for NBC And she she's dealing with this so very sad also we are watching our ran Trump did threaten to send a second aircraft carrier group to the Middle East to sit off the coast of Iran So that is very much a potential there are talks apparently going on
- 42:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's been kind of a hush-hush here, a little bit of talk here.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_01]: Iran says maybe they'll let go of nuclear options here.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, Trump keeps putting the pressure on something that the U.S. is installing, so they can continue to build up the defensive mechanisms on U.S. bases around the Middle East until we are ready for a full on strike to topple the regime in Iran.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_01]: That's a possibility too.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_01]: As we know, Trump is able to determine what he wants to do, and we'll call a strike.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_01]: without anybody else in America knowing besides the people who are on a need to know basis.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_01]: And we will find out if something happens.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_01]: If not ideally talks happen that regime topples without any violence needed or American lives risked, but the people and I ran want freedom.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_01]: And we know that when we've seen that in the protests.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_01]: So we are continuing to pray for a good solution there.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_01]: Guys, thank you all for joining us on this week's episode of Culture Reap A Dinnison Foreign Podcast.
