- 0:08Speaker 1: Sable Advice. Hello, it's Rob Shooter from the Naughty but
- 0:16Speaker 1: Nice Podcast. Each weekend we've been doing these special podcasts.
- 0:20Speaker 1: So as well as being a celebrity reporter, a gossip columnist,
- 0:25Speaker 1: entertainment guru, if I say so myself, I'm also a
- 0:30Speaker 1: best selling author. My self help book, The Forward Answer
- 0:35Speaker 1: is available now and I'm recognized as one of America's
- 0:39Speaker 1: leading experts in change, in habits, in happiness. So on
- 0:45Speaker 1: the weekends, in addition to doing our silly podcast that
- 0:48Speaker 1: we do Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, we do
- 0:51Speaker 1: a special bonus addition really focusing on something maybe a
- 0:57Speaker 1: little bit more important. Today's podcast is all about you
- 1:02Speaker 1: decide the moment that you start over start thinking about
- 1:08Speaker 1: your life. Like it is a book. It has an
- 1:12Speaker 1: unmistakable beginning when you are born, and a definite end
- 1:18Speaker 1: unfortunately when we all pass, and lots and lots and
- 1:22Speaker 1: lots of chapters in between. Some of these chapters are long,
- 1:26Speaker 1: some of them are short, some of them are interesting,
- 1:30Speaker 1: and some of them are a little bit duller. You
- 1:34Speaker 1: might even find yourself revisiting the same chapter over and
- 1:38Speaker 1: over again, as life seems to repeat itself. When you
- 1:43Speaker 1: think about your life like this, it reminds you of
- 1:47Speaker 1: something very important. That you are the author of this
- 1:52Speaker 1: great adventure and what happens next is up to you.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Only you have their power to dis side when a
- 2:01Speaker 1: new chapter starts and when an old one ends. It's
- 2:05Speaker 1: your life. So if you find yourself in the wrong
- 2:08Speaker 1: story or not enjoying the plot, change it. Never forget
- 2:14Speaker 1: that you get to decide if you are going to
- 2:16Speaker 1: play the villain or the heroer. Remember that there are
- 2:22Speaker 1: hundreds and hundreds of ways, maybe thousands, to reach any goal,
- 2:27Speaker 1: So don't get stuck really live in the same story
- 2:31Speaker 1: over and over again and expecting a different ending that's
- 2:37Speaker 1: not going to happen. Hoping to get somewhere newer by
- 2:41Speaker 1: doing the same thing isn't going to happen. Instead, embrace
- 2:48Speaker 1: change and keep on trying. When you first, second, third,
- 2:52Speaker 1: and maybe even fourth time, when those plans don't work out,
- 2:57Speaker 1: the biggest mistake people make is giving up. Don't make
- 3:02Speaker 1: this mistake. Change your plans, but not your goal, and
- 3:07Speaker 1: when things don't work out, be smart and admit it.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Remember that watering dead plants is exhausting, and it never
- 3:19Speaker 1: ever brings them back to life, so instead close that
- 3:24Speaker 1: chapter and start a new one. I love this quote
- 3:29Speaker 1: by Bear Grills, the survival expert. He said the following quote,
- 3:34Speaker 1: Survival can be summed up in three words, never give up.
- 3:42Speaker 1: I love that. If you want to make real change
- 3:46Speaker 1: in your life, you have to start changing your habits.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Don't be afraid of finding a new route that's going
- 3:55Speaker 1: to get you to where you want to be. You
- 3:59Speaker 1: have to aren't being totally honest with yourself. You deserve
- 4:03Speaker 1: to be in a relationship where you are safe to
- 4:07Speaker 1: say uncomfortable things. Every relationship in your life will be
- 4:13Speaker 1: stronger when you tell the truth, especially when you are
- 4:17Speaker 1: honest with yourself. If that truth leads to breakups, leads
- 4:23Speaker 1: to the end of a chapter in your life, or
- 4:25Speaker 1: even breaks your heart, in the long run, you will
- 4:30Speaker 1: live a much better life because of it. Alvis Presley
- 4:36Speaker 1: said the following quote. Truth is like the sun. You
- 4:40Speaker 1: can shut it out for a time, but it ain't
- 4:43Speaker 1: going anywhere. Focus on taking one small step at a time.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Think about the one thing that you can do right now,
- 4:53Speaker 1: and then do it. Don't think about running a marathon,
- 4:58Speaker 1: think about taking that first writing a book, starts with
- 5:02Speaker 1: a single sentence. I know that if you are going
- 5:06Speaker 1: to lose one hundred pounds, you have to shed one first.
- 5:10Speaker 1: And don't overwhelm yourself worrying about tomorrow. Think about what
- 5:15Speaker 1: you can do today. You have to be patient, knowing
- 5:19Speaker 1: that big things happen when you make small decisions, not
- 5:24Speaker 1: big ones. You have to be patient. Martin Luther King
- 5:30Speaker 1: said quote, you don't have to see the whole staircase,
- 5:35Speaker 1: just take the first step. Wise words the forward answer.
- 5:42Speaker 1: My book was started after I was inspired by watching
- 5:46Speaker 1: a movie, but it was finished after I worked on
- 5:49Speaker 1: it every single day for about thirty minutes a day.
- 5:52Speaker 1: That's all. That's all I did. That was it. I
- 5:55Speaker 1: found half an hour every single day, and I actually
- 5:59Speaker 1: found it in two fifteen minute intervals. I couldn't find
- 6:03Speaker 1: a whole thirty minutes, but I could find two fifteen
- 6:07Speaker 1: minutes of each day, seven days a week, where I
- 6:10Speaker 1: disappeared into a quiet corner of my apartment, or I
- 6:15Speaker 1: walked down to the river to find an empty bench
- 6:18Speaker 1: under a tree, and I did the work knowing that
- 6:22Speaker 1: what I did today would mean I would finish one
- 6:27Speaker 1: day sooner. What kept me going was not biting off
- 6:31Speaker 1: more than I could chew, never overwhelming myself with the
- 6:36Speaker 1: enormity of the task at hand, but rather being smart
- 6:41Speaker 1: enough to believe in myself. Never forget that every professional
- 6:46Speaker 1: was once an amateur. That is true for everybody. Look around.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Think of your sports heroes, your favorite pop stars, your
- 6:54Speaker 1: favorite actor actress. There was a time when they too
- 6:58Speaker 1: were an amateur. Every night, before you go to bed,
- 7:02Speaker 1: write down one thing that you are going to accomplish
- 7:05Speaker 1: the next day, one small task that will get you
- 7:10Speaker 1: closer to your final goal. This approach has literally changed
- 7:15Speaker 1: my life. Doing this each day has not only transformed
- 7:20Speaker 1: my productivity levels, but it has also increased my level
- 7:25Speaker 1: of happiness, because nothing feels better than getting it done.
- 7:31Speaker 1: When you were disciplined and focused on the next fifteen minutes,
- 7:36Speaker 1: the next fifteen years will take care of themselves. Focus
- 7:42Speaker 1: on now, right now, the next fifteen minutes. Take a
- 7:48Speaker 1: deep breath, and think about the one thing you are
- 7:53Speaker 1: going to start doing today. The next time you have
- 7:57Speaker 1: a bad day, remember that a bad moment is simply
- 8:01Speaker 1: that it's just the moment, It's just the day. Er
- 8:04Speaker 1: Ask yourself, are you really having a bad day, or
- 8:09Speaker 1: is it just a bad moment that you turned into
- 8:13Speaker 1: a bad day by obsessing about it. When you fight
- 8:17Speaker 1: with your partner, or your kids or your parents, or
- 8:19Speaker 1: you get cut off in traffic, or you miss your train,
- 8:23Speaker 1: or when you get the wrong coffee at Starbucks as
- 8:26Speaker 1: you're rushing to the office, you get to choose if
- 8:30Speaker 1: you are going to dwell on that for the entire
- 8:33Speaker 1: day or if you are going to move on. You
- 8:37Speaker 1: only have a bad day when you choose to have one.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I love this quote by Justin timber Lyck. He said, quote,
- 8:46Speaker 1: cry me a river, build a bridge and get over it.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Get over it. If whatever is wrong isn't going to
- 8:56Speaker 1: matter four minutes, four days, or four years from now,
- 9:00Speaker 1: why are you refusing to say goodbye to it? Like Beyonce,
- 9:06Speaker 1: find the good in goodbye, and never forget that you
- 9:11Speaker 1: have the power and the right to decide when you
- 9:15Speaker 1: start over, which, my friends, is right now. Let's end
- 9:21Speaker 1: with this amazing quote from ts Eliot. Quote. What we
- 9:27Speaker 1: call the beginning is often the end, and to make
- 9:31Speaker 1: an end is to make a beginning. The end is
- 9:37Speaker 1: where we start from. Just beautiful. Don't forget, my friends,
- 9:42Speaker 1: that you get to decide the moment you start over,
- 9:48Speaker 1: and that moment is right now. Hey, thank you so
- 9:53Speaker 1: much for listening to these short ten minutes or so
- 9:56Speaker 1: podcast we do on the weekends. I can't tell you
- 9:59Speaker 1: a am so flattered by all the response that I
- 10:02Speaker 1: have been receiving for these I love your dms, who
- 10:06Speaker 1: text your emails, thank you, thank you, thank you, And
- 10:09Speaker 1: just the sheer number of people that are listening tells
- 10:13Speaker 1: me we've really touched a nerve here. Yes, we all
- 10:16Speaker 1: love celebrity gossip. There's nothing wrong with that. I'm proud
- 10:19Speaker 1: I love gossiping about celebrities. But we all deserve to
- 10:23Speaker 1: have a minute, a moment when we think about ourselves,
- 10:27Speaker 1: and that's what these podcasts are all about. They're not
- 10:30Speaker 1: about celebrities, they're not about famous people. They're about the
- 10:34Speaker 1: real star in your life, which is you. Hey, everybody
- 10:38Speaker 1: sing along to our tagline. Remember, if you're going to
- 10:42Speaker 1: be naughty, you've got to be nice. Take care of everybody.
- 10:47Speaker 1: I shall see you Monday. With all the breaking news,
- 10:53Speaker 1: it's not even nice with ra
