- 0:00Speaker 1: With Stu Gatz and Hawkman.
- 0:02Speaker 2: I mean.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Time of our lives! A time of our lives, man.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Look at you.
- 0:12Speaker 3: I can't tell you how delighted I am. I saw someone,
- 0:15Speaker 3: I was at a sandwich shop in... where's Cypress Creek,
- 0:21Speaker 3: maybe Pompano beach over the weekend, met some friends and
- 0:23Speaker 3: there were just some listeners at a table across the way.
- 0:26Speaker 2: And the guy pointed at me and he goes, I mean,
- 0:29Speaker 2: I didn't know you come here.
- 0:30Speaker 3: I said, I mean, I'm on top of the world.
- 0:35Speaker 4: If he just said hello, it would not mean nearly
- 0:37Speaker 4: as much as him saying, I.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Mean, I'm kidding. Not, it just feels right.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Um, on the last with Stu Gotson, Hockman episode, uh,
- 0:49Speaker 3: We had talked about Stugatz's fake Tony Dungy Twitter account.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Oh, shit.
- 0:54Speaker 3: And a bunch of people texted me screenshots. And the
- 0:59Speaker 3: tweets are from 2010. So this is while I was
- 1:03Speaker 3: still on the show. I just don't think I ever
- 1:06Speaker 3: really paid attention or I just have no recollection that
- 1:10Speaker 3: you were doing fake Tony Dungy.
- 1:12Speaker 1: But.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Someone had DM me about it and I brought it
- 1:17Speaker 3: up and you recalled that you were just kind of
- 1:19Speaker 3: over Tony Dungy.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Being, you know, holier than thou was like, Hey, curse
- 1:24Speaker 2: once in a while. Right.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Yeah. I remember asking Dan during a commercial break, I'm like,
- 1:28Speaker 4: you ever think that Tony Dungy just lets loose and
- 1:31Speaker 4: just starts, you know, you know, he curses, perhaps, you know,
- 1:35Speaker 4: we'll go out once in a while and just flirt
- 1:37Speaker 4: with some women at a bar, like just anything wacky,
- 1:40Speaker 4: crazy and dance like no way. It's Tony Dungy, dude.
- 1:42Speaker 4: And I thought, so it was a wild, wild West
- 1:45Speaker 4: social media back then, Hawk, as you, as you can recall,
- 1:47Speaker 4: and you're just trying to create accounts that would get
- 1:50Speaker 4: some traction.
- 1:51Speaker 3: And this was one of them. I mean, well, I
- 1:53Speaker 3: can see why it did. Here's the tweet from August 19th, 2010.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Just cut my finger. Fuck. Which is funny because it's
- 2:05Speaker 2: Tony Dungy.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Yes.
- 2:07Speaker 2: But then it starts to ramp up a little bit.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:11Speaker 3: The next day, fuck, it's hot out today. And then
- 2:16Speaker 3: the next day, this.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Is so great.
- 2:22Speaker 4: Taylor, he called me while we were on break to
- 2:26Speaker 4: tell me that he was laughing out loud at the
- 2:29Speaker 4: fake Tony Dungy Twitter account.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Because you really went for it on this account.
- 2:34Speaker 4: Step too far. And I think that was Mike who
- 2:35Speaker 4: said that.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Yeah. Got a nooner in today. I love to fuck.
- 2:46Speaker 4: Now that I'm thinking about it, Tony was railing against
- 2:49Speaker 4: the F word.
- 2:52Speaker 2: He had some stance against that word in particular. Got
- 2:57Speaker 2: a nooner in today. I love to fuck. Yeah.
- 3:01Speaker 3: That is funny when you imagine Tony Dungy saying it.
- 3:10Speaker 2: He's never said that in his entire life. You don't
- 3:14Speaker 2: think he ever said, I love to fuck? No.
- 3:18Speaker 3: You don't think even with his boys, you know, drinking
- 3:22Speaker 3: at the bar, you know what I love to do?
- 3:25Speaker 2: I love to fuck. It's him.
- 3:28Speaker 1: It's Peyton.
- 3:29Speaker 2: It's Edrin James. Yep, Saturday. Boys. Who are Tony Dungy's boys?
- 3:40Speaker 3: Who does it when he's like, hey, man, we got
- 3:42Speaker 3: we got to we got to get we got to
- 3:44Speaker 3: go to the shake spot, have a couple of drinks.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Who does Tony Dungy have on the text thread? Jim Sorge.
- 3:51Speaker 1: That's who it is.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Curtis Painter.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Right.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Right.
- 4:13Speaker 3: It's like, it's not Reggie Wayne.
- 4:15Speaker 2: It's like, it's just Jim Sorge and Curtis Painter.
- 4:20Speaker 3: It's guys who don't care if they fuck. I want
- 4:26Speaker 3: to bring back the fake Tony Dungy account now.
- 4:30Speaker 2: It's all yours.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Oh, that's funny.
- 4:33Speaker 2: I want to do fake Curtis Painter.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Um, One of the other things that we talked about
- 4:40Speaker 3: on the last episode was Kevin Arnovitz. And someone had DM'd,
- 4:45Speaker 3: I love when you play Kevin Arnovitz over that ZZ
- 4:47Speaker 3: Top song. I didn't remember what it was. And you
- 4:49Speaker 3: shockingly had remembered that he was a basketball writer and
- 4:54Speaker 3: we would have him on. So I didn't remember the
- 4:55Speaker 3: entirety of why we had the Kevin Arnovitz song. And
- 4:59Speaker 3: someone was nice enough to DM it to me. He says,
- 5:02Speaker 3: the ZZ Top thing, I guess you guys don't remember fully.
- 5:05Speaker 3: When LeBron got to Miami, you were all heat all
- 5:08Speaker 3: the time. You had lots of basketball guests, including Tim Legler.
- 5:12Speaker 3: You being you, meaning me, he was always introduced with
- 5:17Speaker 3: ZZ Top legs. Much like the games, this drove Dan
- 5:22Speaker 3: crazy over time. I remember it got to the point
- 5:25Speaker 3: that it made the suey montage with Dan angrily yelling,
- 5:30Speaker 3: no ZZ Top as legs played underneath. Eventually, Kevin Arnovitz
- 5:36Speaker 3: was going to come on the show. You guys were
- 5:38Speaker 3: talking about him coming on and Dan said something to
- 5:41Speaker 3: the effect of, I'm just glad we won't have to
- 5:43Speaker 3: hear ZZ Top when he comes on. And then, of course,
- 5:47Speaker 3: you being you, just sang his name over legs, and
- 5:50Speaker 3: the rest is history.
- 5:52Speaker 2: So there you go. That is where the Kevin Arnovitz
- 5:56Speaker 2: jingle came from. An important lesson there. First off, great listener.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Thank you. Yes.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Yes.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Just to remember all of that in a way that
- 6:04Speaker 4: we don't. But secondly, and this is a lesson of
- 6:08Speaker 4: Hawk is ever producing your show or on your show.
- 6:10Speaker 4: Don't tell Hawk not.
- 6:11Speaker 2: To do something. He's going to do it.
- 6:16Speaker 1: That is.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Rule number one.
- 6:18Speaker 3: The more you tell me something that you don't like,
- 6:22Speaker 3: something that annoys you, you don't want done.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Yes.
- 6:25Speaker 3: It's a personality flaw. I'm not telling you that I'm
- 6:28Speaker 3: not in the wrong. That is a personality flaw I've
- 6:30Speaker 3: had it my entire life.
- 6:32Speaker 4: You're the Lane Kiffin of executive producers.
- 6:35Speaker 2: You tell Lane he can't do something, he's doing it.
- 6:39Speaker 1: So.
- 6:42Speaker 2: I was listening. This is so great.
- 6:46Speaker 3: The actual Levitard show, I believe the SUI Awards are
- 6:48Speaker 3: going on right now. And I had a bunch of
- 6:50Speaker 3: people DM me, hey, why don't you do some classic SUIs?
- 6:53Speaker 3: This one that we're going to play on today's episode,
- 6:57Speaker 3: this is your resume. This is your CV. This is
- 7:02Speaker 3: a documentary of your radio career. Like you have never
- 7:08Speaker 3: been better encapsulated. as to who you are on the
- 7:13Speaker 3: radio and what you brought to the Levitard show more
- 7:18Speaker 3: than this SUI award from 2010. I was crying laughing
- 7:22Speaker 3: listening to this. By the way, I want.
- 7:25Speaker 2: You both to pay attention because these are Stugatz dismissals.
- 7:29Speaker 3: These are best Stugatz dismissals from the 2010 SUI awards.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Wow.
- 7:35Speaker 3: He is extraordinarily hard on my radio partner, Channing Crowder.
- 7:42Speaker 3: There is a dismissal in here. It's not the one
- 7:44Speaker 3: we've played previously.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Right.
- 7:47Speaker 3: I was shocked at how much you dismissed Channing Crowder,
- 7:52Speaker 3: who at that time was starting linebacker for the Miami Dolphins.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Yes.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Uh, this category became right.
- 7:58Speaker 4: And who I've asked to, to come on the show
- 8:00Speaker 4: and has been on this show, or at least on
- 8:04Speaker 4: Stigazza company.
- 8:05Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Um, This became, Dan would say, as we got closer
- 8:11Speaker 4: to like 15, 16, 2018 in that.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Area at ESPN, this was like our best picture category.
- 8:18Speaker 4: It is the suey that everyone grew to look the
- 8:20Speaker 4: most forward to.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Because it's me just going off in all different directions.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Well, and the funny thing is, the moment you say
- 8:29Speaker 3: someone's name and you do it in a certain intonation,
- 8:33Speaker 3: it's a dismissal.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Yes.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Ah, Channing Crowder. It always starts with the person's name, right? Yes. Ah, so-and-so.
- 8:41Speaker 2: So this to me, this is.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Just a work of art. Like if you're not in
- 8:46Speaker 3: love with Stugatz the radio personality already, you better be
- 8:51Speaker 3: after you listen to the 2010 SUI Awards.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Here it is.
- 8:54Speaker 3: This is the 2010 SUI's best Stugatz dismissal.
- 8:59Speaker 2: And again, listen about halfway through.
- 9:02Speaker 3: For how extraordinarily hard he dismisses Jan and Crowder.
- 9:14Speaker 5: Hey, how you doing?
- 9:15Speaker 6: Stugatz?
- 9:16Speaker 2: You're an ass!
- 9:18Speaker 5: He's a know-it-all jackass that always has opinions on things,
- 9:22Speaker 5: even if he doesn't know what he's talking about. And
- 9:25Speaker 5: lots of times, Stugatz will just dismiss something without giving
- 9:29Speaker 5: it any thought. It's part of the charm, if you will,
- 9:32Speaker 5: of Stugatz.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Stugatz has charm? What am I thinking? The man is
- 9:37Speaker 2: a monkey. He doesn't have charm. He throws feces at people.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Look out!
- 9:42Speaker 2: Stugatz poop coming at you.
- 9:45Speaker 5: But I don't want to dismiss this award because I
- 9:47Speaker 5: don't want to be like Stugatz. So here it is,
- 9:51Speaker 5: the best Stugatz dismissal for the 2010 SUI Awards.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Here are the nominees for Best Stugatz Dismissal as heard
- 10:09Speaker 1: on the Dan Levitard Show for the 2010 SUI Awards.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Stugatz dismisses Bon Jovi.
- 10:17Speaker 4: Whenever I hear a Bon Jovi or another rock star
- 10:20Speaker 4: say something like that, oh, it's so lonely at the top.
- 10:24Speaker 4: It's so lonely when I go back to my hotel room.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Boo hoo. Knock it off, Bon Jovi. Seriously.
- 10:31Speaker 4: Such a tough life for Jon Bon Jovi. Oh, it's
- 10:33Speaker 4: so lonely in the hotel room after I sing in
- 10:35Speaker 4: front of 80,000 people and take in yet another $ 5 million.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Boo-hoo!
- 10:41Speaker 1: Stugatz dismisses Dolphin's decision-making.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Pat White.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Could add Michael Vick for a million dollars. Pretty sure
- 10:48Speaker 4: someone or a couple of people suggested that to old Bill.
- 10:52Speaker 4: You know what they could have gotten for a second-round
- 10:53Speaker 4: pick for Pat White? Tony Gonzalez. Oh, no, but they
- 10:56Speaker 4: have Fasano.
- 10:57Speaker 2: They're fine there.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Stu Gatz dismisses Al Michaels.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Like Al Michaels?
- 11:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Well, wow. He's better than you. Too bad, Al.
- 11:05Speaker 6: Or Mike Tirico. Who's better than who?
- 11:07Speaker 2: Gus is better. He's better. Than Al? Al's been boring
- 11:11Speaker 2: for about a decade now. Seriously. Propped up by Madden
- 11:15Speaker 2: for a couple of years.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Stugatz dismisses BJ Penn.
- 11:19Speaker 4: Did I read somewhere that pound for pound chalked it
- 11:21Speaker 4: up to a sinus problem?
- 11:23Speaker 7: He didn't chalk it up to a sinus problem. Some
- 11:25Speaker 7: of his people chalked it up to a sinus problem.
- 11:28Speaker 7: We'll get some pseudofit.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Stu Gatz dismisses Denver Bronco fans.
- 11:33Speaker 4: I've told Bronco fans that they don't need to watch
- 11:36Speaker 4: the remainder of the season.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Go skiing.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Stu Gatz dismisses Chad Ochocinco.
- 11:41Speaker 4: Oh, I'm going to put around $ 30, 000 on the side
- 11:43Speaker 4: because I know I'm going to have to pay Goodell
- 11:45Speaker 4: this week because I want to wear a sombrero.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Mojo Zico. Let me create my own network.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Jeez. Stugatz dismisses Channing Crowder.
- 11:56Speaker 6: Crowder came so close to touching the ball yesterday.
- 11:59Speaker 2: So close.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Can he zip it up, by the way? Make a play.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Remember a couple of years ago, we criticized every... I didn't,
- 12:07Speaker 4: but a lot of people criticized Joey Porter because he
- 12:09Speaker 4: would not stop talking and they would never win.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Well, Channing Crowder's doing the same thing. Zip it up.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Stugas dismisses Chris Collinsworth.
- 12:18Speaker 7: So it's going to be Chris Collinsworth's first game replacing
- 12:22Speaker 7: John Madden.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Correct. Can't stand Collinsworth.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Really?
- 12:25Speaker 2: Blowhorn. Collinsworth? I don't know. Too smart. Thinks he's too smart.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Don't like him. What did he ever do, by the way?
- 12:34Speaker 6: Chris Collinsworth was a pretty good NFL receiver, Stugatz.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Really? Stugatz dismisses ESPN's Tiger Woods press conference coverage.
- 12:43Speaker 4: Well, I think Mike Tirico comes off as a jackass
- 12:45Speaker 4: today sitting a mile away in a lawn dissecting what
- 12:48Speaker 4: Tiger Woods said. Hey, Mike, you're invited. Sit a mile away.
- 12:52Speaker 4: Sit on a lawn chair and tell me about what
- 12:54Speaker 4: Tiger said.
- 12:55Speaker 1: What an embarrassment.
- 12:56Speaker 4: You're the voice of Monday Night Football. Him and Rinaldi.
- 13:00Speaker 4: Lawn chairs. Breaking it down. A mile away.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Joke. Stugatz dismisses the Florida Panthers.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Just win. Just make the playoffs.
- 13:10Speaker 4: Stop telling everyone you're going to make the playoffs and
- 13:14Speaker 4: actually make the playoffs.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Stugatz dismisses Hines Ward crying.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Hines Ward. I don't know. A little too much.
- 13:24Speaker 4: Why?
- 13:24Speaker 2: He cares.
- 13:24Speaker 6: He cares deeply.
- 13:25Speaker 2: He cares passionately.
- 13:26Speaker 1: That's great.
- 13:27Speaker 4: You want to know the people that should cry last night, Dan?
- 13:29Speaker 4: The people that had the Steelers minus six. Those should
- 13:32Speaker 4: be the people crying. Hines Ward.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Latt.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Stugatz dismisses Jake Long.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Jake Long. Highest paid tackle in the NFL.
- 13:40Speaker 4: Funny.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Funny.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Played 16 games. Jake Long.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Hmm.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Let's pay him a lot of money. How about show up?
- 13:48Speaker 2: I'm serious.
- 13:50Speaker 6: Did Joey Porter play yesterday?
- 13:52Speaker 2: I don't know. Did Jake Long?
- 13:54Speaker 1: Stugatz dismisses James Posey.
- 13:57Speaker 4: Oh, the Heat won a championship. James Posey. Celtics won
- 14:00Speaker 4: a championship. James Posey. Now I'm James Posey and I'm
- 14:03Speaker 4: going to go to the Hornets and win them a championship.
- 14:06Speaker 2: God, that's nonsense. I mean, think about that. James Posey. Posey.
- 14:10Speaker 2: The socks up to his knees. He's the reason teams
- 14:12Speaker 2: are winning championships. James Posey.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Yeah. Sure.
- 14:16Speaker 4: He doesn't win anyone championships. People win him championships. He
- 14:19Speaker 4: doesn't win anyone a championship.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Well, he helps out. Yeah, yeah.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Stugatz dismisses Jerry Rice.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Jerry Rice, screw him.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Stu Gatz dismisses Kimbo Slice.
- 14:30Speaker 7: Kimbo's not very good at this, let's be honest. Well,
- 14:32Speaker 7: he's good at street fighting. He's not somebody I would
- 14:34Speaker 7: want to fight in a street fight. He lost to
- 14:36Speaker 7: a fat guy and a guy with pink hair.
- 14:38Speaker 2: It's enough.
- 14:39Speaker 4: Enough.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Stu Gatz dismisses Mike Conley and Mario Chalmers.
- 14:43Speaker 4: Mike Conley can take a seat. You know who else
- 14:45Speaker 4: can take a seat? Mario Chalmers. He can take a seat.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Stugatz dismisses the Monday Night Football crew.
- 14:51Speaker 4: Tirico is the most overrated play-by-play guy in the business.
- 14:55Speaker 4: I can't stand Jaworski. I've been telling you that for
- 14:57Speaker 4: years now. I just can't stand him. I'm a sports dork.
- 15:01Speaker 4: I could care less about going to the NFL Films
- 15:03Speaker 4: headquarter and breaking down play-by-play of every game.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Could care less. Don't want it. It's the worst, and
- 15:10Speaker 2: they're terrible. And Tirico. Oh, Tirico.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Stugatz dismisses Nick Johnson.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Well, he's disappointed us. Don't get hurt.
- 15:18Speaker 6: He got hurt. You can't control how you get hurt.
- 15:21Speaker 6: What do you mean, don't get hurt?
- 15:22Speaker 4: They traded prospects for Nick Johnson. Don't get hurt. In
- 15:25Speaker 4: the middle of a pennant run.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Stugas dismisses Pat Riley.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Has Pat Riley failed Dwayne Wade? Seriously.
- 15:31Speaker 4: Has Riley and the organization, because Dan, all these other teams,
- 15:34Speaker 4: all the other contenders went out and made moves, and
- 15:36Speaker 4: they haven't done a single thing. What have they done
- 15:39Speaker 4: for Dwayne Wade? They got him Jermaine O'Neal, a broken
- 15:42Speaker 4: Jermaine O'Neal. He's going to leave here, and he should
- 15:44Speaker 4: leave here. He's failed, Dwayne Wade. Failed the fans. Failed
- 15:48Speaker 4: the city.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Stugatz dismisses soccer.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Soccer.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Soccer. Ooh, okay.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Soccer. It's not a sport.
- 15:56Speaker 6: What are you talking about? Soccer's not a sport.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Oh, really? It's a sport? One-nothing's a sport? Hmm, fun.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Stugatz dismisses Stephen Ross.
- 16:05Speaker 7: Stephen Ross says buying the Dolphins wasn't a shrewd investment.
- 16:08Speaker 6: We'll get to that in a second.
- 16:14Speaker 2: I'll tell you when I start feeling bad for him.
- 16:18Speaker 2: I'll let you know. Check back in about 10 years.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Stugatz dismisses Tiger Woods.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Tiger, he's learned something.
- 16:25Speaker 4: He's picked a couple of clinical terms, and now he's
- 16:27Speaker 4: going to run with them for the remainder of time. Here, world,
- 16:31Speaker 4: here's my clinical terms. It is nonsense. Tiger learned nothing
- 16:35Speaker 4: in that place. He's not a sex addict. He'll never
- 16:37Speaker 4: be a sex addict. He's just like every other guy
- 16:39Speaker 4: who enjoys sex. But that's what happened. He came out
- 16:41Speaker 4: with a couple of clinical terms. I stripped myself down
- 16:44Speaker 4: and I looked at myself in the mirror and I'm
- 16:46Speaker 4: a bad person.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Utah probably has more of a right to the U
- 16:54Speaker 1: than the U has to the U.
- 16:55Speaker 4: Yeah, but they don't. You can't do that if you're Utah.
- 16:57Speaker 4: Just be the Utes and shut up. For as smart
- 17:03Speaker 4: as Lance Briggs was for ditching his Lamborghini on the
- 17:06Speaker 4: side of the road and running through the woods is
- 17:08Speaker 4: as dumb as Will Allen was for driving up to
- 17:11Speaker 4: a cop twice the legal limit.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Have fun in jail.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Stugatz dismisses Jake Long again.
- 17:18Speaker 7: I'm listening to Stugatz during the break. He gave me
- 17:20Speaker 7: a little private show. Do you want to say that
- 17:22Speaker 7: on air, what you just said to me? I don't
- 17:23Speaker 7: know whether you want to or don't about Jake Long.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a bust.
- 17:33Speaker 1: And those are your nominees for Best Stugas Dismissal, as
- 17:38Speaker 1: heard on the Dan Levitard Show for the 2010 SUI Awards.
- 17:44Speaker 2: I mean, holy shit. That is loaded.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Yes.
- 17:49Speaker 4: Years after I said Wade was going to leave and
- 17:52Speaker 4: Riley had failed Miami, he got Wade, LeBron James, and
- 17:55Speaker 4: Chris Bosh.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Kind of didn't fail the city.
- 18:00Speaker 4: You heard the building blocks of my soccer take.
- 18:02Speaker 2: I mean, all of it.
- 18:03Speaker 3: My guess is you don't think Mike Tirico is a
- 18:08Speaker 3: terrible broadcaster. My guess is you don't think Chris Collinsworth
- 18:14Speaker 3: is a terrible broadcaster.
- 18:17Speaker 2: I will admit this to you.
- 18:19Speaker 4: I have asked both of them to join us on
- 18:21Speaker 4: the show over the last six months.
- 18:24Speaker 2: And Tariq has become a friend. He might be the
- 18:26Speaker 2: best broadcaster we've ever had.
- 18:29Speaker 3: He literally might be the best play-by-play broadcaster that sports
- 18:33Speaker 3: has ever had. The most versatile play-by-play broadcaster in the
- 18:38Speaker 3: history of sport.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Yes, he's fantastic.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Or Jake Long.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Great. Jake Long took it on the chin there. The
- 18:47Speaker 2: Utah Utes one is one of the funniest things. Just
- 18:51Speaker 2: be the Utes. Shut up.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Yes.
- 18:53Speaker 2: I'd like to play.
- 18:55Speaker 4: I think the 2018 dismissals was the most listened to
- 19:01Speaker 4: that we've ever done. There is a moment where I
- 19:05Speaker 4: blame Marcus Aldridge for calling him a bum. He doesn't
- 19:10Speaker 4: get back on defense. And I blame him for losing
- 19:13Speaker 4: a game that.
- 19:14Speaker 2: The Spurs actually... that the Spurs won. That is... I
- 19:23Speaker 2: applaud you. I applaud you.
- 19:25Speaker 3: I mean, that is masterful radio character 101. The whole
- 19:32Speaker 3: idea of this pod was to relive some of the
- 19:35Speaker 3: funny Levitard show moments that we all experienced and take
- 19:39Speaker 3: it behind the curtain.
- 19:40Speaker 2: That show... is not as successful as.
- 19:44Speaker 3: It was without that particular Stugatz character. Stugatz character is multifaceted.
- 19:51Speaker 3: And when I say the character, obviously there's realities as
- 19:54Speaker 3: to who you are with the character, but it's also
- 19:57Speaker 3: a radio character. But Stugatz being able to do that
- 20:01Speaker 3: at the drop of a hat when anyone was brought
- 20:04Speaker 3: up or any topic was brought up gave Dan the
- 20:08Speaker 3: opportunity to then say.
- 20:10Speaker 2: You're a Neanderthal.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Right.
- 20:12Speaker 3: You're not looking at the rest of the story. You're
- 20:15Speaker 3: just dismissing Tiger Woods and Dan's, you know.
- 20:19Speaker 2: M.O.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Was to go deeper than what the Neanderthal would go.
- 20:24Speaker 2: And you play that role to perfection. Well, thank you.
- 20:29Speaker 4: Yeah, it's why the show worked. It's we needed hot takes.
- 20:33Speaker 4: We needed sports radio. Those are things that Dan is
- 20:36Speaker 4: not going to do. He's not going to give him.
- 20:38Speaker 4: He's very measured. He's going to sit back. He's going
- 20:40Speaker 4: to let the story develop. But that's not what sports
- 20:43Speaker 4: radio was about. It's not what sports radio is about.
- 20:47Speaker 4: And so I was happy to fill that void for him.
- 20:49Speaker 4: It also gave him time just to kind of think
- 20:51Speaker 4: and get his thoughts together because I would go on forever.
- 20:53Speaker 4: I mean, I don't care. Listen, audience, I don't care
- 20:56Speaker 4: about Jake Long that much. I certainly don't care about
- 21:00Speaker 4: him to rip them not once, but twice in a
- 21:02Speaker 4: single season, but that's what sports radio is, you know?
- 21:05Speaker 3: And it allowed Dan, it became more distinct his takes
- 21:12Speaker 3: because it's one thing to come on the air. You know,
- 21:15Speaker 3: if Dan was doing the show alone and say, I
- 21:17Speaker 3: know most of you are willing to dismiss Tiger Woods
- 21:20Speaker 3: apology as being a fake apology, but here's what I'm
- 21:23Speaker 3: thinking is, It's another thing to actually hear someone dismiss
- 21:27Speaker 3: it and then be able to debate that person, that Neanderthal,
- 21:33Speaker 3: as to why it's a really, you know, top of
- 21:39Speaker 3: the iceberg opinion and you're not seeing the rest of
- 21:43Speaker 3: the iceberg that's under the water.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Right.
- 21:46Speaker 2: And it would drive Dan crazy when most people agree
- 21:47Speaker 2: with me.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Well, that really was the funny thing. um, end result
- 21:53Speaker 3: of most of that, which is Dan for, I, it
- 21:56Speaker 3: was naive to think so many years. He's like, oh,
- 21:59Speaker 3: and then people will see the way that I look
- 22:01Speaker 3: at things and they will applaud me as this hero
- 22:05Speaker 3: and text after text would come in.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Like Stu gots nailed it.
- 22:09Speaker 3: You're so wrong, Dan, you know, the emails would come
- 22:12Speaker 3: in and be like, Stugatz nailed it again.
- 22:14Speaker 2: You're wrong. It's such a great snapshot on society.
- 22:19Speaker 4: Well, most people don't have the time that Dan had
- 22:21Speaker 4: on his hands to sit around and think about these
- 22:23Speaker 4: things and read and speak to people.
- 22:25Speaker 2: We just form.
- 22:26Speaker 4: Opinions based on what it is we see or what
- 22:29Speaker 4: happens on Saturday and Sunday. And I was glad to
- 22:32Speaker 4: fill that. I don't want to talk to people. I
- 22:34Speaker 4: don't want to be measured.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I don't want to go deeper than what I see.
- 22:37Speaker 2: I just want to rip someone.
- 22:38Speaker 3: It's like, yes. And again, everybody's got their own personality.
- 22:43Speaker 3: I'm not saying one's right, one's wrong. There are some
- 22:46Speaker 3: people who go, yeah, he's putting Jermaine O'Neal with Dwayne
- 22:50Speaker 3: Wade right now, but he's thinking two, three seasons down
- 22:54Speaker 3: the line. So we don't look at stuff that way.
- 22:57Speaker 3: I just look at it and I go. Hey, Dwayne
- 22:59Speaker 3: Wade's out there playing with Jermaine O'Neal. They're not going
- 23:01Speaker 3: to win anything. Like, wow, you're doing him a disservice. Yeah,
- 23:05Speaker 3: he's going to leave.
- 23:07Speaker 2: I said that last season about Bam. I said, Bam's leaving.
- 23:11Speaker 3: Because Pat Riley can't put anyone around him.
- 23:14Speaker 2: He can't sit.
- 23:15Speaker 3: And then all of a sudden Giannis is here and
- 23:16Speaker 3: Clay Thompson is here. And I'm like, yeah, I don't
- 23:18Speaker 3: think Bam's going anywhere. I think Bam's staying exactly where
- 23:21Speaker 3: he is.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:22Speaker 4: But I'll tell you this, you better step up and
- 23:24Speaker 4: they got to get to an Easter conference final. I mean,
- 23:26Speaker 4: enough of Bam. I'm tired of hearing about Bam, the
- 23:28Speaker 4: 83 points, this, that.
- 23:29Speaker 2: He's so great. He's not. Okay. Please. Seriously. Put it
- 23:32Speaker 2: on the poll, Taylor. Is it enough of Bam already?
- 23:36Speaker 2: Is it time to step up?
- 23:40Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 23:41Speaker 2: That really is.
- 23:42Speaker 3: That is like a snapshot of one of the greatest
- 23:47Speaker 3: artistes of our time.
- 23:49Speaker 4: It's so funny. It's the biggest difference for me now is.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Dan would just say a name and I.
- 23:57Speaker 4: Would just go off. And I almost knew to go off. It's,
- 24:00Speaker 4: it's much harder doing it the way we do now
- 24:02Speaker 4: where I'm the one driving. It's like, I can't just
- 24:04Speaker 4: say a name and then start going off.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Right. Right. There is a different role.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:09Speaker 4: There's a yin yang thing that has to happen for
- 24:13Speaker 4: me to be able to do that.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Something to think about Taylor. I'm not kidding. Like you
- 24:17Speaker 2: played it flawlessly.
- 24:20Speaker 3: He knew if he brings up Jake long, you just
- 24:23Speaker 3: dismiss him boss.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Yes. Yes.
- 24:26Speaker 2: He knew that if he brings up Channing Crowder, you're
- 24:29Speaker 2: going to say zip it.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:31Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Like you just played it flawlessly. Yes.
- 24:35Speaker 2: All right. Um, nicknames.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Let's do some nicknames here. Or you have some DMS here.
- 24:41Speaker 2: What do you have?
- 24:41Speaker 3: You want to, uh, now I just had that one
- 24:43Speaker 3: DM about Kevin Arnovitz. There were a bunch of DMS
- 24:46Speaker 3: and I appreciate everyone who does DM.
- 24:48Speaker 2: I was just wanting to get to that, uh, Sui
- 24:50Speaker 2: award today. So, uh, Uh, but you can keep on
- 24:53Speaker 2: DMing me.
- 24:53Speaker 3: It's radio, Mark Hockman on Instagram stuff that you want
- 24:56Speaker 3: to hear on the show, on the pod.
- 24:59Speaker 2: We're happy to play it. We'll get to it.
- 25:02Speaker 3: I did get some DMS of like, I want to
- 25:04Speaker 3: hear fake Emmett Smith. So we'll get to that. I have,
- 25:06Speaker 3: I have a whole bunch of requests that we'll get
- 25:08Speaker 3: to at some point, but that 2010 Suey's Stu got dismissals.
- 25:12Speaker 3: I'm telling just the second time, listening to it right now,
- 25:15Speaker 3: tears streaming down my.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Face that Utah Utes thing. Even the first one, Bon Jovi. Oh,
- 25:21Speaker 2: Bon Jovi. Boo hoo. It's like it is your character.
- 25:26Speaker 3: Like if you were doing the partner Dan needed for
- 25:31Speaker 3: this radio show and you created.
- 25:34Speaker 2: A script, like the most perfectly written script, you were it.
- 25:40Speaker 2: But you were doing it unscripted. But that was exactly it.
- 25:44Speaker 4: Just to let people inside, I had a moment last
- 25:47Speaker 4: night where I'm sitting watching tennis with my wife.
- 25:49Speaker 2: It was suspicious.
- 25:49Speaker 4: I forgot who he was taking on and he was
- 25:52Speaker 4: getting blown out. The announcers are like, can anything go
- 25:55Speaker 4: right for suspicious? And I'm saying to myself, you know what?
- 25:58Speaker 4: Plenty's gone right for him. This guy is going to
- 26:00Speaker 4: lose this match. He's going to go home, fly home
- 26:02Speaker 4: in a private jet to a seven and a half
- 26:05Speaker 4: million dollar mansion.
- 26:06Speaker 2: He's fine. He'll admit season four.
- 26:13Speaker 3: He's a handsome guy with a great head of hair.
- 26:16Speaker 3: One other thing, because there's an easy dismissal. You know
- 26:19Speaker 3: I've been promoting this T-shirt shop that my son does.
- 26:22Speaker 3: Did you see over the weekend Kirk Herbstreet's dog has
- 26:27Speaker 3: a store?
- 26:29Speaker 2: What do you mean a store? In Baton Rouge. I
- 26:30Speaker 2: saw it. Did you see the actual store? It's what?
- 26:33Speaker 2: Fans of Pete or something? Pete Fan Club?
- 26:36Speaker 1: Pete's Fan Club.
- 26:37Speaker 2: First person ever in history to own a dog, Kirk Herbstreet. Wow.
- 26:43Speaker 3: So this has become a thing, right, where Kirk Herbstreet
- 26:47Speaker 3: was bringing his sick dog to all his broadcast events,
- 26:51Speaker 3: and then that dog had passed away.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Then he got a new dog, Pete. Pete. And he
- 26:56Speaker 2: brings it everywhere. Adorable.
- 26:58Speaker 3: And people have had enough of Kirk Herbstreet's dog.
- 27:03Speaker 2: This has become this thing.
- 27:06Speaker 3: I saw something online yesterday that said there is no
- 27:10Speaker 3: way on earth Anyone can hate a golden retriever unless
- 27:14Speaker 3: it's owned by Kirk Herbstreit.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Because he brings it everywhere.
- 27:19Speaker 3: And the reason I bring it up is because I
- 27:22Speaker 3: promote my son's T-shirt shop relentlessly.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Do you know who runs the Pete's store, Taylor? It's
- 27:31Speaker 2: got to be his son. His two sons.
- 27:34Speaker 3: He is doing for his sons what I was doing
- 27:38Speaker 3: for DJ, what I am doing for DJ. And so
- 27:40Speaker 3: now I have the complete opposite take. I love Kirk
- 27:43Speaker 3: Herbstreet and his dog because he said to his son,
- 27:46Speaker 3: because he said the same thing that I say with DJ.
- 27:48Speaker 3: DJ does all the graphic design.
- 27:52Speaker 2: For the t-shirts. He built the store. He runs the store.
- 27:56Speaker 2: He gets all the profits.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Kirk Herbstreet, his two sons do all the graphic design
- 28:01Speaker 3: stuff for Pete's fan club or whatever it's called.
- 28:05Speaker 2: And they get all the money and they're the ones
- 28:07Speaker 2: running the store.
- 28:08Speaker 3: It's the same exact thing, just on a larger level,
- 28:10Speaker 3: but it gives me an opportunity to promote.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Yes.
- 28:13Speaker 3: If you like golden retrievers, go to a horse muffins.com.
- 28:17Speaker 3: Nothing to do with golden retrievers. But my son does have,
- 28:21Speaker 3: this is starting to sell now, the I Mean t-shirt.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Love it.
- 28:25Speaker 4: I Mean.
- 28:27Speaker 2: It's up there.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Yes.
- 28:28Speaker 3: The hamburguesa con queso shirt is up there.
- 28:32Speaker 2: There's a whole bunch of stuff up there.
- 28:34Speaker 3: There's a With Stu Gotts and Hockman podcast shirt up there.
- 28:38Speaker 2: It's all at horsemuffins.com. And it does go to support my.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Son, DJ.
- 28:44Speaker 2: And if you are a dog lover.
- 28:45Speaker 3: go to Kirk Herbstreet's dog store in Baton Rouge and
- 28:50Speaker 3: buy some shirts there.
- 28:52Speaker 4: We had Kirk on last year, I think, at the
- 28:54Speaker 4: UM game. He was on a bus that he sleeps
- 28:56Speaker 4: in close to campus. He had the dog with him.
- 28:58Speaker 4: My daughters love Pete. You would love Kirk, Hawk. I
- 29:02Speaker 4: want to arrange an interview where it's me, you, Kirk,
- 29:05Speaker 4: and Pete.
- 29:05Speaker 2: How about that?
- 29:06Speaker 3: How about me, you, Kirk, his two sons, Pete and DJ,
- 29:10Speaker 3: and my cat, Rocky.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Done. i'll let you know when i have it all
- 29:17Speaker 2: booked all right.
- 29:18Speaker 3: I'll give you uh three the website is horse muffins.com
- 29:22Speaker 3: go buy a t-shirt go buy.
- 29:24Speaker 2: A t-shirt it would be really appreciated.
- 29:26Speaker 3: Um i'll give you three tennis nicknames since you were
- 29:30Speaker 3: watching tennis over the weekend are you good with the
- 29:33Speaker 3: okay yeah like i'm having a tough time looking at
- 29:36Speaker 3: some of these.
- 29:40Speaker 2: I don't know if i can do i don't know
- 29:43Speaker 2: i mean i haven't watched tennis since bjorn borg okay
- 29:47Speaker 2: right since since the early 80s yeah ely nastassi that
- 29:51Speaker 2: was my kind of uh Nasty. That was his nickname.
- 29:54Speaker 2: I think that was his name. Elina Stassi. I'll give
- 29:56Speaker 2: you that one. Elina Stassi was nasty. I'll give you
- 30:00Speaker 2: that one. I'm looking for tennis players in my era.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Who else did I like? Do you remember Tracy Austin?
- 30:07Speaker 2: Of course.
- 30:08Speaker 4: American 18 won the US Open, I believe.
- 30:12Speaker 2: It's a weird recall, Taylor. I can't remember. I have
- 30:16Speaker 2: no idea what happened over the weekend. It's remarkable, right?
- 30:19Speaker 3: Last episode, when you named the Hannity panel, Jim Miller
- 30:24Speaker 3: and Neil Bortz and Neil Bortz's dog.
- 30:26Speaker 2: Yes. Now there's a dog you don't have to like.
- 30:33Speaker 2: Carlos Alcaraz.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Wow.
- 30:37Speaker 2: I'm not certain I know his nickname. It's just a
- 30:39Speaker 2: derivative of his name. Alcatraz. Do you know Taylor?
- 30:46Speaker 1: Carlitos.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Carlitos.
- 30:48Speaker 1: I didn't know that.
- 30:48Speaker 2: I'll give you that because Taylor can be your phone
- 30:50Speaker 2: a friend on that one. Oh, thank you. We've got two.
- 30:53Speaker 2: All right, so we have Nasty and Carlitos. Like, this
- 30:57Speaker 2: is interesting to me. This won't count.
- 30:59Speaker 3: But, like, Serena Williams. Like, you would think Serena would
- 31:06Speaker 3: have a nickname. Or Venus would have a nickname. They
- 31:09Speaker 3: don't have nicknames.
- 31:11Speaker 1: No.
- 31:11Speaker 2: No.
- 31:12Speaker 4: I wasn't aware they didn't have nicknames. I'm not surprised
- 31:14Speaker 4: by it either, though.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Serena's nickname, according to Wikipedia, SW19. No, terrible. Nobody's ever
- 31:21Speaker 2: called her that once in their life, right?
- 31:23Speaker 4: You just call her Serena. She's a one-name person. It's
- 31:25Speaker 4: just Serena, and everyone knows who you're talking about.
- 31:28Speaker 2: How about John McEnroe? Johnny Mac. Mac and Brat. You're close.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Man.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Something with brat.
- 31:42Speaker 4: Yep.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Super brat. We're going to give it to you. Super brat.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Super brat. That was good. All right.
- 31:45Speaker 1: There you go. You got it.
- 31:47Speaker 3: Listen, you got Ely Nastassi. That was the only one
- 31:49Speaker 3: that that's my wheelhouse. Ely Nastassi, Roscoe Tanner, Vetus Garalitis.
- 31:55Speaker 3: You're talking about the heyday of tennis.
- 31:58Speaker 4: Roscoe Tanner was like the Dave Kingman of tennis, Taylor,
- 32:02Speaker 4: the biggest.
- 32:03Speaker 3: Serve you've ever seen.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Couldn't do anything else. Right.
- 32:06Speaker 4: But if you got him the ground strokes, he was
- 32:09Speaker 4: going to get destroyed.
- 32:11Speaker 3: I mean, who would have thought that in 2026, Stu
- 32:14Speaker 3: Gatz and I would be breaking down Roscoe Tanner's ground game.
- 32:18Speaker 2: I'm so glad we are.
- 32:23Speaker 1: With Stu Gatz and Hawkman.
