- 0:02Speaker 1: Past check it out.
- 0:03Speaker 2: But Joe Experience Train my day, Joe Rogan.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Podcast by night all day you.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Fell over up it's going on, Ronway.
- 0:16Speaker 2: I'm feeling good. Finally after my little bout with fucking COVID.
- 0:21Speaker 1: They gotcha. They got you with the new COVID.
- 0:24Speaker 2: They got me with the new COVID.
- 0:25Speaker 1: I thought the new COVID was a total bullshit. I
- 0:27Speaker 1: thought it was like a baby baby cold I had.
- 0:31Speaker 2: You know, my girlfriend raised two kids, and she said
- 0:33Speaker 2: she's never seen anybody puke as much as I did
- 0:37Speaker 2: for two days. Wow, And uh it was. It was brutal.
- 0:41Speaker 2: It was just bile. And I don't even know if
- 0:45Speaker 2: I ever I've ever been that sick and only got
- 0:47Speaker 2: asked that part of it a couple of days.
- 0:49Speaker 1: That's interesting. I wonder if you've got multiple things at
- 0:52Speaker 1: the same time, do people usually puke a lot if
- 0:55Speaker 1: you get COVID Jamie, Do you know.
- 0:58Speaker 2: I don't remember that being us.
- 1:01Speaker 1: I don't remember having that either. You mind have had
- 1:03Speaker 1: a couple of things. You know, there was a bad
- 1:05Speaker 1: flu going around too well.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I went to uh, you know, I went to Vegas
- 1:10Speaker 2: and early and I had it kind of I just
- 1:12Speaker 2: thought I had a cold when I went, and uh,
- 1:15Speaker 2: my doctor here gave me a shot of steroids, and
- 1:18Speaker 2: I felt way fucking better. I mean I felt better everywhere.
- 1:21Speaker 2: I was more flexible. I was like, fuck, I don't
- 1:23Speaker 2: want to do steroids.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Every guy.
- 1:26Speaker 2: I don't know, but whatever it was, man, I could
- 1:28Speaker 2: touch the floor without being to my knees, without stretching
- 1:32Speaker 2: it all like that.
- 1:34Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:36Speaker 2: She said, steroids. You gave it to me. I don't
- 1:38Speaker 2: ask a lot of questions, you know, so you just
- 1:39Speaker 2: felt loose. I felt loose and good. I played really
- 1:42Speaker 2: good golf. And then I got there and it started
- 1:45Speaker 2: catching up with me. I had my girlfriend, I'm staying
- 1:47Speaker 2: in the mansion down at you know, at MGM Grand,
- 1:51Speaker 2: which is pretty sweet. And I had that show just
- 1:55Speaker 2: on Saturday. When we got there on Wednesday, and I'm like,
- 1:58Speaker 2: fuck it, I'm not gonna make it. I felt it
- 1:59Speaker 2: all deteriorate. So I called this it was so bad.
- 2:02Speaker 1: You didn't think you were going to make it on Saturday.
- 2:05Speaker 2: I didn't. I didn't. I thought I would need another
- 2:08Speaker 2: shot of steroids. That's so I called a doctor or
- 2:11Speaker 2: had the hotel called it doctor, and I thought I
- 2:14Speaker 2: was getting. The doctor that was, you know, whatever it
- 2:17Speaker 2: takes to get through the show, right, and uh, you know,
- 2:21Speaker 2: but that's not the doctor I got. The doctor I
- 2:23Speaker 2: got was we needed let's test you for COVID. I'm like, no, no,
- 2:26Speaker 2: I don't have COVID. He said, I won't charge you
- 2:29Speaker 2: if it's negative, which didn't make any sense to me,
- 2:33Speaker 2: and I said, well, okay. And then it came up
- 2:36Speaker 2: positive for COVID and he said, see there the T
- 2:38Speaker 2: and the X and the and the thing. And I said, yeah,
- 2:40Speaker 2: I see it. Let's do it again because I don't
- 2:44Speaker 2: think I have COVID. So we did it again, came
- 2:47Speaker 2: up positive again. Not only would he not give me
- 2:50Speaker 2: the COVID shot, he told me to quit taking the
- 2:52Speaker 2: antibiotics I was already on and uh. And he did
- 2:56Speaker 2: nothing except for called the CDC to tell them I
- 3:00Speaker 2: had COVID and they both said, you cannot do the show.
- 3:05Speaker 2: I'm like, wait a minute, you're the wrong doctor. I
- 3:07Speaker 2: don't want to fucking retire today. Shit, I want to
- 3:11Speaker 2: hear's the your drummers a junkie. He's out of heroin.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Get him some fucking something to get him through. This guy.
- 3:17Speaker 1: So they were telling you you can't do the show
- 3:19Speaker 1: because you had a specific kind of a cold, a
- 3:21Speaker 1: COVID cold. So if you had the flu, would he
- 3:24Speaker 1: have stopped you from doing the.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Show, I'd say absolutely not. That's so I don't think
- 3:30Speaker 2: it would even come up.
- 3:31Speaker 1: That's so weird because right now, like the deaths from
- 3:34Speaker 1: COVID now are so low, like the idea that this
- 3:38Speaker 1: is still a pandemic and they still have to treat
- 3:40Speaker 1: it differently than they do a cold, they do.
- 3:43Speaker 2: And well, you know, I I was faced with do
- 3:49Speaker 2: I cancel a show? Well, that's not the same as
- 3:52Speaker 2: Saint Louis when they just moved the date and the
- 3:54Speaker 2: people from Saint Louis come back out. This is Las Vegas.
- 3:57Speaker 2: A lot of those people come specifically to see me
- 3:59Speaker 2: because I don't do all those shows that I used
- 4:01Speaker 2: to do. So it's kind of if you want to
- 4:03Speaker 2: come see it, and that's a good place. And so
- 4:06Speaker 2: it's a problem. You know, it's a refund. You got
- 4:08Speaker 2: to refund them all because those people are going to
- 4:10Speaker 2: be there.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Most importantly, your fans are bumped out.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Yeah, my fuck, I've disappointed them. Everybody's here. Fuck, let's
- 4:17Speaker 2: do the show. So I just sitting there. I didn't
- 4:20Speaker 2: know what to do. So I'm like, well, I'm just
- 4:21Speaker 2: gonna call him, gim Grant and tell them what the
- 4:23Speaker 2: fuck's going on. Let it be their call, you know.
- 4:27Speaker 2: And they were like, so, h how do you feel.
- 4:30Speaker 2: I'm like, I feel like I can make it through
- 4:31Speaker 2: the show. And they're like, oh, I say, let's just
- 4:34Speaker 2: go ahead and do it. You're you know, it's a
- 4:36Speaker 2: big room. You're not within six feet of anybody.
- 4:38Speaker 1: It's twenty twenty five.
- 4:40Speaker 2: It's twenty twenty five.
- 4:42Speaker 1: If you told me you you did tell me you
- 4:44Speaker 1: had COVID, and I give you a big hug. On Monday.
- 4:46Speaker 1: I saw you on Monday. Yeah, when we did Kill Tony, right,
- 4:51Speaker 1: that was you were a super spreader on Kill Tony.
- 4:53Speaker 1: He was so much time.
- 4:54Speaker 2: I'm an asshole, the biggest asshole every It would be
- 4:57Speaker 2: so horrible sick. I know nobody, nobody got sick. And
- 5:00Speaker 2: it wasn't until the next day that I got sick.
- 5:04Speaker 2: That's when the vomiting started. Wasn't in Vegas. It was
- 5:08Speaker 2: day two. It was Tuesday after Kill Tony. That's when
- 5:12Speaker 2: I got sick. And uh, and it was fucking awful.
- 5:17Speaker 2: I mean for two days, just off.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Did you get another steroids shot?
- 5:22Speaker 2: No? Nobody would give me one, So I don't know, Man,
- 5:25Speaker 2: I just got the wrong guy.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Gym right, they find the biggest guy in the room.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Dude, you got something, don't you?
- 5:33Speaker 1: You know you got something? Bro? Come on, man, aren't
- 5:36Speaker 1: you a wrong white fan? Give me some fucking steroids.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Just to get me around the corner. So yeah, so
- 5:43Speaker 2: I'm back. I feel fine today and that's good.
- 5:46Speaker 1: And uh, which is really good. Coming to club tonight?
- 5:51Speaker 2: Uh, you know they asked me to. I don't know
- 5:53Speaker 2: who's got the set tonight. I don't know who's got
- 5:55Speaker 2: to show you.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Let's go.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Okay, let's go. I'll go.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Let's go run White plus Bottom of the Barrel tonight too.
- 6:02Speaker 1: The kill Tony was on, isn't that amazing. I'm so happy.
- 6:08Speaker 1: I'm so happy for Tony and Redband and for everybody
- 6:11Speaker 1: on the show. I'm just so happy that that show
- 6:14Speaker 1: is now on Netflix.
- 6:15Speaker 2: It's sweet. You know. I always believed in it, and
- 6:19Speaker 2: you know that. And I always saw something in Tony
- 6:22Speaker 2: I know, oh never sure what exactly it was, but
- 6:25Speaker 2: I saw something. You know that this kid works hard.
- 6:29Speaker 2: You know, he's got a dream that he's fucking making
- 6:32Speaker 2: it work, and he's making it work with hard work.
- 6:35Speaker 1: He works hard. He works really hard at that show.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Man really does.
- 6:38Speaker 1: I mean I call him in the middle of the
- 6:39Speaker 1: day sometimes and he's just laying out, like how he's
- 6:41Speaker 1: going to do the show, what he's got. He's like,
- 6:43Speaker 1: he's planning it. He's wandering around his apartment writing notes down,
- 6:47Speaker 1: just planning it out in his head. He's legit. This
- 6:52Speaker 1: is the thing about success. It's a product of hard work.
- 6:56Speaker 1: And in that example, I fucking know it's a product
- 6:59Speaker 1: of hard work. Those guys did that show every goddamn
- 7:03Speaker 1: Monday for ten plus.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Years, starting with six people in the crowd.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I was one of them. I was there when they
- 7:11Speaker 1: were doing the belly Room show. But I always encouraged it.
- 7:14Speaker 1: I encourage people to do shows when no one's watching,
- 7:17Speaker 1: because I think that, you know, the only way something
- 7:20Speaker 1: builds is you got to get it started. You can't
- 7:22Speaker 1: think you're gonna launch a podcast and it's gonna have
- 7:24Speaker 1: a million downloads. It's not that way, and you don't
- 7:28Speaker 1: want it that way anyway. You want to get good
- 7:29Speaker 1: at it, You want to learn how to do it.
- 7:31Speaker 1: You want to iron out the kinks.
- 7:32Speaker 2: I agree, I agree, And they did it.
- 7:35Speaker 1: They fucking did it. They did it, and now it's
- 7:36Speaker 1: one of the best shows in the world. It's the
- 7:38Speaker 1: funniest fucking show on television for sure.
- 7:40Speaker 2: You know, as far as just a fucking entertaining thing
- 7:44Speaker 2: to goddamn do, I mean, just to come down. You know,
- 7:47Speaker 2: my last girlfriend was so addicted to the show. She
- 7:50Speaker 2: would come almost every Monday. And it's hard for me
- 7:53Speaker 2: to go down there on Kiltny night because they got
- 7:56Speaker 2: the you know, the green rooms hocked out to nineteen
- 7:59Speaker 2: thousand people and there's no place for me to go,
- 8:02Speaker 2: right and uh so, you know, but but she was
- 8:05Speaker 2: addicted to it. I mean, just is something fun to do.
- 8:08Speaker 2: You know, it's a fun thing to do because you're
- 8:10Speaker 2: gonna get some great comics. You're gonna and it doesn't
- 8:12Speaker 2: matter if if the comic eats it on stage, because
- 8:16Speaker 2: it's still funny. You know, that's not the point. The
- 8:19Speaker 2: point is that everybody has access, you know, in some way.
- 8:24Speaker 2: And uh and and there's no shortcut to get there.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Because I tried to shortcut it because I thought I could,
- 8:29Speaker 2: because I was ron white and my banker said, yeah,
- 8:32Speaker 2: I've been doing stand up and I'd love to get
- 8:34Speaker 2: no problem. I'll tell them I'll fix this for you
- 8:37Speaker 2: and uh and he was like, yeah, da, no, you can't.
- 8:42Speaker 2: It's a bucket pull. That's the only way he can
- 8:44Speaker 2: do it is to get his name in there.
- 8:46Speaker 1: And it's a legit bucket pull, and it really is.
- 8:48Speaker 1: And sometimes one of our guys gets in, like a
- 8:50Speaker 1: song's been on a couple of times now, you know,
- 8:54Speaker 1: and sometimes not. You put you put your name in
- 8:57Speaker 1: the bucket. We'll see there's hundreds of names in that bucket.
- 9:00Speaker 1: It it's a great idea. It's a great idea and
- 9:03Speaker 1: it is.
- 9:04Speaker 2: And it's inclusive to anybody. I mean, it's amazing to
- 9:08Speaker 2: me who he saw the had the vision to put anybody, anybody,
- 9:14Speaker 2: no matter what kind of physical shape if they you
- 9:16Speaker 2: can't even say a word and handicapped on top of that,
- 9:21Speaker 2: and you know, just.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Give it a go, give it a go, give it
- 9:25Speaker 1: a go. Try to be funny, your best, just do
- 9:27Speaker 1: your best. There's a lot of people doing their best.
- 9:30Speaker 2: I'm thrilled. I'm thrilled for the success of it.
- 9:33Speaker 1: It's incredible. Yeah, it really is it's fun too. It's
- 9:36Speaker 1: like it makes everything more fun when when there's a
- 9:38Speaker 1: fun thing like that out there in the world, more
- 9:41Speaker 1: of us have fun. We have more fun at the clubs,
- 9:44Speaker 1: We have more more fun talking about comedy.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Yeah. And you know, it made me really proud to
- 9:49Speaker 2: to I mean, just to walk out on stage and
- 9:52Speaker 2: it's you know, it's you and Shane and and Segura
- 9:56Speaker 2: and Tony and these are my friends, you know, these
- 9:59Speaker 2: are are my buddies. This is my tribe right here,
- 10:02Speaker 2: and uh, and we're doing something really special and it's
- 10:05Speaker 2: a fucking hoot.
- 10:06Speaker 1: You know, it is a fucking hoot.
- 10:09Speaker 2: It's a fucking hoot.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's uh, that club is the best place
- 10:12Speaker 1: for it.
- 10:13Speaker 2: I hadn't. I had a nightmare the other night, Oh yeah,
- 10:16Speaker 2: and it was about the club and that I was
- 10:20Speaker 2: the headliner that night. And I got down there and
- 10:23Speaker 2: there were like nine eleven year old girls and that's
- 10:26Speaker 2: all the tickets we could sell. And I was like,
- 10:29Speaker 2: did you tell them I was coming to me? Yeah?
- 10:31Speaker 2: We put it in the thing and nobody showed up
- 10:34Speaker 2: rod except for these chicks.
- 10:35Speaker 1: If I was your psychiatrist, I'd sit down to go Ron,
- 10:38Speaker 1: what do you think this means to you? But inside
- 10:43Speaker 1: of your subconscious makes you think that only eleven year
- 10:48Speaker 1: old girls would come to see you do comedies.
- 10:50Speaker 2: That's because for thirty eight years, I've been waiting for
- 10:53Speaker 2: the end, you know, And it finally happened that that night,
- 10:57Speaker 2: in the middle of that dream. See, I knew it
- 10:58Speaker 2: would happen.
- 10:59Speaker 1: I knew that, And it drives me crazy. I don't
- 11:01Speaker 1: understand how you can think like that.
- 11:02Speaker 2: I just always have because I you know, it never
- 11:05Speaker 2: works as good as it works for me, you know,
- 11:08Speaker 2: I mean, it's worked okay for you, But I mean,
- 11:11Speaker 2: you know, these kind of careers don't last forever unless
- 11:16Speaker 2: they do, and there's not very many of them that do,
- 11:18Speaker 2: you know, last fucking four decades.
- 11:21Speaker 1: It's a different world now, run. I think they do
- 11:24Speaker 1: last now, I guess. I think the thing that was
- 11:27Speaker 1: going on before was everybody thought you did comedy to
- 11:32Speaker 1: get to something. He did comedy to get to the movies.
- 11:35Speaker 1: He did comedy to get to TV. And if you didn't,
- 11:38Speaker 1: then you were a failure and you thought of yourself
- 11:40Speaker 1: as a failure, and other people thought of you as
- 11:42Speaker 1: a failure too, and that would diminish your confidence, that
- 11:45Speaker 1: would diminish your draw. And only a few people survived
- 11:48Speaker 1: that and escaped, and a lot of great comics, like
- 11:52Speaker 1: Richard Jenny, for instance, he got caught up in that
- 11:55Speaker 1: and felt like he was a failure and a loser
- 11:57Speaker 1: and wind up fucking killing himself. Meanwhile, he was one
- 11:59Speaker 1: of the greatest comics. He just missed the boat. He
- 12:03Speaker 1: missed the internet boat. He would have been But I
- 12:05Speaker 1: missed it too. You didn't, though, But you didn't. He
- 12:08Speaker 1: didn't miss it. You didn't. You caught us. You caught
- 12:11Speaker 1: the whole wave. Brother, You came to the and it's
- 12:18Speaker 1: great for all of us. We all know each other.
- 12:21Speaker 1: It's great for all of us. There's no more you
- 12:24Speaker 1: know waves like in terms of like your career is
- 12:28Speaker 1: going to die off, your your career is depending entirely
- 12:31Speaker 1: on your work. And your work's never been better.
- 12:33Speaker 2: No, I don't think it has.
- 12:35Speaker 1: It's never been better. You're on fire right now. You
- 12:37Speaker 1: are killing it. The other night we were in the
- 12:38Speaker 1: green room and we're watching for the balcony fucking howl it.
- 12:42Speaker 1: It's great. It's great. There's no reason it shouldn't be great.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Like you've been doing it forever. You love doing it,
- 12:49Speaker 1: you're passionate about it, you work hard, you're always riding.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Of course, it's great and it's fun. You know the
- 12:56Speaker 2: best it's there. I don't think there's any environment that's
- 13:00Speaker 2: more conducive to getting chops. I mean that really is
- 13:04Speaker 2: a gym to me, and uh uh and everybody there
- 13:09Speaker 2: is just getting better. And it's a fucking stage time.
- 13:11Speaker 2: There's no fucking substitute for.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Stage substitute stage time. And a good tribe.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Yeah, you gotta have that.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Because everybody's killing it. Like when I see a sign
- 13:22Speaker 1: up there killing and I'm like, whoa, let's go. I
- 13:24Speaker 1: get excited. Everybody's come a long way, long way. You
- 13:28Speaker 1: see these guys like already, Maddie, these young guys coming up.
- 13:31Speaker 1: You see all these people in Camp Patterson on kill
- 13:33Speaker 1: Tony Monday night was on fire, on fire. You see
- 13:37Speaker 1: the growth, you see these guys emerging, and You're like,
- 13:39Speaker 1: this is incredible. We're in a We're so lucky, We're
- 13:43Speaker 1: in like the we have the luckiest job in the
- 13:45Speaker 1: luckiest place in the world.
- 13:48Speaker 2: I think so, man. And if I was a young
- 13:49Speaker 2: comic now, I would go to Austin Texas in fact,
- 13:53Speaker 2: because they're just all that stage time. And now you
- 13:56Speaker 2: don't actually automatically get to go to the mother ship,
- 13:59Speaker 2: but that can be your and you can.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Get in there. Man, you can get in there if
- 14:02Speaker 1: you're good. You can get in there if you're good.
- 14:04Speaker 1: There's a lot of guys get in there. All you
- 14:05Speaker 1: have to do, a lot of women get in there,
- 14:07Speaker 1: a lot of non binary people. All you have to
- 14:09Speaker 1: do is just be good. Yeah, there's showcases all the time.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Adam's picking people all the time. People will see you
- 14:16Speaker 1: if you're funny. Your shit's on the internet. It's like
- 14:18Speaker 1: the path has never been clearer now for a young comic.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I mean when I was young, start now and it's like,
- 14:24Speaker 1: how do you do this? How do you get on stage?
- 14:26Speaker 1: How do you get a manager, how do you get paid?
- 14:28Speaker 1: How do you do it right? You know? Now it's
- 14:30Speaker 1: like it's kind of laid out.
- 14:32Speaker 2: It is, and there are people also hanging around like
- 14:36Speaker 2: me that have been through all this stuff before, you know,
- 14:39Speaker 2: the growth spot to know how to get better, you know,
- 14:43Speaker 2: because I was like you, there was no direction, there
- 14:46Speaker 2: was nobody giving advice, there was you know, you just
- 14:49Speaker 2: looked at it. And went, okay, I'll try this.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Yeah, let's see. And well you've made it late in
- 14:56Speaker 1: life too. You know, that's probably why you have this
- 14:59Speaker 1: thing in your head because like when did Blue Collar was? Like,
- 15:03Speaker 1: how old were you when that that.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Tour kicked out? Forty five?
- 15:06Speaker 1: I think, yeah, see, that's that's that's why that's the thing.
- 15:09Speaker 1: You know, who else had that same sort of feel?
- 15:12Speaker 1: Phil Hartman? Phil Hartman didn't get on Saturday Night Live.
- 15:16Speaker 1: I think he was thirty six. That was his first.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Break thirty six.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm pretty sure.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Now did he do stand up balls or he was
- 15:26Speaker 2: going to?
- 15:27Speaker 1: He would do some stand up to warm up the
- 15:30Speaker 1: crowd sometimes okay, and he would fuck around and he
- 15:33Speaker 1: and I talked about it and I said, anytime you
- 15:36Speaker 1: want to do it, I'll go. I'll take you to
- 15:37Speaker 1: the store. I go, you can get on stage list,
- 15:39Speaker 1: I go. You don't need a lot of time, you
- 15:41Speaker 1: just like put together five minutes. I help you. I
- 15:43Speaker 1: know you could do it. And he had some really
- 15:45Speaker 1: funny impressions. He had a really funny Bill Clinton impression.
- 15:48Speaker 1: He was a funny fucking dude and a hard worker.
- 15:51Speaker 1: You want to talk about a hard worker that dude
- 15:53Speaker 1: needs to make me. Everybody felt like they weren't a
- 15:56Speaker 1: professional when they were on that guy, because you'd have
- 15:59Speaker 1: like tab and shit, a notebook where all his scenes were,
- 16:02Speaker 1: everything was organized.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I already feel unperfectional.
- 16:06Speaker 1: While he was doing that, he was also trying to
- 16:08Speaker 1: take his pilot's license. In between scenes, you'd be reading
- 16:11Speaker 1: airplane books.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Christ what a fucking tragedy, man.
- 16:16Speaker 1: What oh bro, you don't know the half of it.
- 16:20Speaker 1: I tried to get him to divorce her a long
- 16:22Speaker 1: time ago. I told him, like right when he was struggling.
- 16:26Speaker 1: I said, man, just give her half, just get out.
- 16:29Speaker 1: You'll make more money. And he was like, well, it's
- 16:31Speaker 1: not half. It's a scam. The lawyers get a third.
- 16:34Speaker 1: It's a third. You get a third of your fucking money. Okay, okay, okay,
- 16:38Speaker 1: just care the money. Just care the money. Money is
- 16:41Speaker 1: fun coupons.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Right.
- 16:43Speaker 1: If you're having money and you're not having fun, then
- 16:45Speaker 1: you gotta cut something off. You know, you gotta figure
- 16:50Speaker 1: out what where's the cancer? Hack it off? Hack off
- 16:55Speaker 1: that melanoma, and let's get this party rolling. Like you
- 16:58Speaker 1: shouldn't be involved with someone that you hate. That's crazy.
- 17:02Speaker 1: You come home to someone who hates you. That's crazy.
- 17:04Speaker 1: That ise, that's crazy, you know.
- 17:06Speaker 2: And I've been in bad relationships before that I that
- 17:09Speaker 2: I cut off and uh, and then all of a
- 17:12Speaker 2: sudden you can breathe again.
- 17:14Speaker 1: You know, you're a different person when you're in a
- 17:16Speaker 1: bad relationship, Like you're bad too, Like you're not your
- 17:20Speaker 1: best just like a bad friendship, like you're not the
- 17:22Speaker 1: best friend. If your friend is a cocksucker. You know,
- 17:25Speaker 1: you're you're good friends with good friends, like we all
- 17:29Speaker 1: inspire each other. And if you got a one way
- 17:31Speaker 1: streat or if you are one of those unfortunate people
- 17:35Speaker 1: that hooked up with a hot lunatic, because that's the problem.
- 17:38Speaker 1: You got a hot lunatic, right, and they're sexy and they're.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Fun for short bursts, right.
- 17:45Speaker 1: A few hours at a time, and then you're like,
- 17:47Speaker 1: oh my god, this person is in my life. And
- 17:49Speaker 1: if you move in with them, oh christ, I know.
- 17:52Speaker 1: And if you have kids with them, oh Christ. And
- 17:53Speaker 1: if you're married to them, oh Christ, you married a
- 17:56Speaker 1: hot lunatic.

- 18:44Speaker 1: Whole thing falling, the pieces in front of the whole world,
- 18:46Speaker 1: because you're married a hot lunatic. And that's the thing
- 18:48Speaker 1: about symmetry and beauty and women who are sexy, they
- 18:53Speaker 1: just can trick you. And then in manner so easily
- 18:57Speaker 1: tricked or so vulnerable.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Oh I'm the worst. That's it's so easy to lead
- 19:01Speaker 2: me down the road. I'll just sniff my way. Oh
- 19:04Speaker 2: it's just.
- 19:05Speaker 1: I'm in love. We're gonna lope. Fuck it. I don't
- 19:09Speaker 1: care about my money. Yeah, she used to like insult
- 19:15Speaker 1: him at parties and shit Phil Hartman's vine. It was
- 19:19Speaker 1: really rough. I remember took him. We all went to
- 19:22Speaker 1: this party once, like some industry type party, and she
- 19:26Speaker 1: was insulting him, and I was like, oh, I just
- 19:29Speaker 1: had to bite my tongue, which I'm not very good at,
- 19:31Speaker 1: you know. No, And I was like and then you know,
- 19:34Speaker 1: he and I were in his green, his little dressing room.
- 19:38Speaker 1: I was telling him, man, like this another way. You know,
- 19:40Speaker 1: if you're a great guy, like you're a great guy,
- 19:43Speaker 1: you're a lot of fun, you'd be a better person
- 19:45Speaker 1: if you were with someone better, Like you'd feel better
- 19:47Speaker 1: about yourself, Like you can't be feeling good about yourself.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Fuck now, fuck now, you gotta you know.
- 19:53Speaker 1: But he had kids too, which complicates the fuck out
- 19:56Speaker 1: of everything.
- 19:57Speaker 2: He had kids with her.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:03Speaker 2: What a horrible fucking story.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Did I tell you the story about like the worst
- 20:07Speaker 1: I ever bombed on stage? Right after that, like easily
- 20:11Speaker 1: the worst have ever bombed on stage? Did I ever
- 20:14Speaker 1: tell you the.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Story I've never seen you bomb on stage.
- 20:16Speaker 1: I was at the gas station and I was getting gasses.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Two weeks after he was murdered, and it was the
- 20:21Speaker 1: first time I was going to go on stage again
- 20:23Speaker 1: because I was everyone was wrecked. I didn't even know
- 20:26Speaker 1: like how long it would take before I felt like
- 20:29Speaker 1: I could do comedy again. So I'm at the gas
- 20:32Speaker 1: station getting gas and uh just randomly run into a
- 20:35Speaker 1: buddy of mine who's a cop, and uh, I go, hey,
- 20:38Speaker 1: what's up? What's going on? Man? He's like, how you doing?
- 20:41Speaker 1: You know you're doing okay. I'm like, man, we're all
- 20:43Speaker 1: fucked up, you know. And he goes, did I tell
- 20:46Speaker 1: you that I was there? I go, no, you were there.
- 20:49Speaker 1: He goes, dude, what He goes, I was there when
- 20:54Speaker 1: the kids ran from the mom. I go, what do
- 20:57Speaker 1: you mean? He's like, after she killed herself, she barricaded
- 21:01Speaker 1: herself in the excuse me? After she killed Phil Hartman.
- 21:04Speaker 1: She barricaded herself in the bathroom and she had the
- 21:07Speaker 1: kids in there with her with a gun. And a
- 21:11Speaker 1: lot of times, when moms killed themselves, they'll kill their
- 21:15Speaker 1: kids too. And the cops saw that, and so they
- 21:19Speaker 1: kicked open the door, and when they kicked open the door,
- 21:22Speaker 1: the kids ran from the mom. The kids ran out
- 21:25Speaker 1: of the bathroom, and then the mom blew her brains out.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Fuck I forgot about I forgot about that part of it.
- 21:33Speaker 2: I mean, I forgot that she killed herself.
- 21:36Speaker 1: I'm seeing my friend at the gas station right before
- 21:39Speaker 1: I go on stage. I'm going on stage about forty
- 21:41Speaker 1: five minutes Jesus, yeah, half hour drive at the comic store,
- 21:45Speaker 1: fifteen minutes before I'm going to go on stage, and
- 21:49Speaker 1: this this is my face. I'm just like, there's nothing
- 21:52Speaker 1: funny in the world. There's nothing funny in the world.
- 21:57Speaker 1: And then after I recovered, you know, I took click
- 22:01Speaker 1: another week off and then I came back and I
- 22:03Speaker 1: was like, he would just he just wanted me to
- 22:06Speaker 1: keep going. I had a dream about him once. It
- 22:08Speaker 1: was like the most realistic dream I've ever had about
- 22:11Speaker 1: anybody in my life ever in my life. He was
- 22:14Speaker 1: sitting in a lawn chair and I ran into him
- 22:18Speaker 1: and I was like, what do you how are you doing?
- 22:20Speaker 1: What are you doing? And he's like, oh, I'm fine.
- 22:23Speaker 1: He goes, We made up. He goes, it was a lot.
- 22:28Speaker 1: He goes, obviously we had a lot to work out.
- 22:31Speaker 1: And he laughed about it, and uh, I said, well
- 22:35Speaker 1: that's great, man. And then he pushed the chair back
- 22:39Speaker 1: and he was gone, and then I woke up like
- 22:43Speaker 1: he was gone. It was the one of the most
- 22:47Speaker 1: I've had two very realistic dreams in my life that
- 22:50Speaker 1: seemed so realistic they didn't even make sense. That was
- 22:54Speaker 1: one of them where it was like I felt like
- 22:57Speaker 1: he was there. I didn't. I didn't. I feel like
- 23:00Speaker 1: you wanted me to let it go. Was was so weird.
- 23:04Speaker 1: I felt like, you know, he wanted It's like that's
- 23:10Speaker 1: how he was whenever they would fight, because it like
- 23:14Speaker 1: I'm not I don't like fights in really what sounds
- 23:19Speaker 1: crazy because I commentate on fights, but I don't like
- 23:23Speaker 1: I don't like conflict. I wish it didn't exist. The
- 23:26Speaker 1: reason why I got good at fighting like martial arts,
- 23:29Speaker 1: is because they was scared of conflict. I don't like it.
- 23:32Speaker 1: I understand it, but I don't think it's necessary, and
- 23:35Speaker 1: I don't think fighting in a relationship. I think that's
- 23:38Speaker 1: the worst. And the people that get in these relationship
- 23:41Speaker 1: they scream and yell at each other and call each
- 23:43Speaker 1: other horrible names. But with a lot of people, it
- 23:47Speaker 1: becomes this cycle of getting mad at each other and
- 23:50Speaker 1: then making up, and then making up, sex is like
- 23:53Speaker 1: very addictive to a lot of people. It's like it's
- 23:55Speaker 1: a different kind of thing. And you get on this
- 23:58Speaker 1: weird roller coaster ride. If I hate you, I love you,
- 24:00Speaker 1: I hate you, I love you hate And he was
- 24:02Speaker 1: he was on that roller coaster ride, and he was
- 24:05Speaker 1: letting me know, like it just went too far and
- 24:08Speaker 1: went crazy.
- 24:09Speaker 2: You know. I lived in Mexico for a while with
- 24:12Speaker 2: a with a woman who eventually took her own life.
- 24:16Speaker 2: And uh, I mean I was already out of the
- 24:18Speaker 2: picture for a couple of years and when that happened,
- 24:21Speaker 2: But when I was in Mexico with her, I knew
- 24:26Speaker 2: that I was. I was trapped. Number one. I was.
- 24:29Speaker 2: I moved down there to start a fucking pottery company
- 24:33Speaker 2: because I was frustrated with stand up comedy. They had
- 24:35Speaker 2: just cut my the Funny Bone chain had just cut
- 24:37Speaker 2: my pay by a third because they realized that I
- 24:42Speaker 2: just worked for them. Oh and I couldn't patch this
- 24:45Speaker 2: schedule together without them, so they and I told the
- 24:50Speaker 2: guy that ran the Funny Bone, Gerald Kuback, to go
- 24:54Speaker 2: eat a steaming bowl of fuck. And uh, I don't.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Even know what that would look like.
- 25:01Speaker 2: I don't know, but it cost me a lot of
- 25:03Speaker 2: work to say it, but it was still fun to
- 25:05Speaker 2: say and wow. But I moved with her down to Mexico,
- 25:09Speaker 2: and and I knew that she was crazy and I
- 25:13Speaker 2: and the way it came up was that she had
- 25:16Speaker 2: called a friend of mine and told her that sometimes
- 25:21Speaker 2: she stands over in my bed with a knife and
- 25:23Speaker 2: just stares at me. And and my son was there
- 25:26Speaker 2: also part of the time, and I'm like, well, that's over.
- 25:30Speaker 2: I got to get out of this. And but but
- 25:32Speaker 2: the the big thing was I was depressed because of
- 25:36Speaker 2: my situation because I didn't see a way out of it.
- 25:40Speaker 2: You know, I didn't see a way out. I just
- 25:42Speaker 2: couldn't see. I just couldn't see a path. And uh.
- 25:45Speaker 2: And it got to where when I was around people,
- 25:48Speaker 2: I couldn't talk and uh, and you know I did.
- 25:52Speaker 2: I had no tribe, you know, at all. I was
- 25:55Speaker 2: cut off from all my friends. And it's just something
- 25:58Speaker 2: I did to myself with that. Moved down to Mexico,
- 26:01Speaker 2: which I was there for three years, and it was
- 26:05Speaker 2: just the worst time of my life. And I really
- 26:07Speaker 2: didn't think I'd ever come out of it. I mean,
- 26:09Speaker 2: I'd never thought I could even get back to a
- 26:11Speaker 2: place where I could sit out and have a conversation
- 26:13Speaker 2: with somebody. That's how depressed I was. And when I
- 26:18Speaker 2: it was funny because I moved into Mexico. I had
- 26:21Speaker 2: the biggest truck that rider makes, pulling the biggest trailer
- 26:24Speaker 2: they make, My van pulling the biggest trailer they make,
- 26:28Speaker 2: all headed down south to everything moved to Mexico by
- 26:33Speaker 2: Mexico because my girlfriend at the time did this mosaic
- 26:39Speaker 2: tile application to existing pottery and she would sell it
- 26:43Speaker 2: a art shows or craft shows, you know whatever, and
- 26:49Speaker 2: it would sell really fast. But it took her six
- 26:51Speaker 2: months to make any of it. So I thought, why
- 26:52Speaker 2: wouldn't you just go down to Mexico and train a
- 26:55Speaker 2: bunch of women how to make it and let her
- 26:58Speaker 2: orchestrate it. And I did it. Part of that sucking
- 27:03Speaker 2: sound that ross Perot was talking about going to Mexico.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Three years later, I had the exact same equipment headed
- 27:11Speaker 2: on uh north out of Mexico, with the same exact
- 27:16Speaker 2: truck trailer. Everything. That was a bad ideas and uh wow,
- 27:21Speaker 2: but but once once I oh, she was so hot.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Oh she was so hot. And I'd never been with
- 27:28Speaker 2: a hot woman before. I'd never been with I mean,
- 27:31Speaker 2: it was my girl, you know, yeah, and she was
- 27:35Speaker 2: just so she was so beautiful. I'm like, I'm gonna
- 27:38Speaker 2: I'll be with her even though I hate her, just
- 27:40Speaker 2: so I can look at her, you know, I just
- 27:43Speaker 2: stare at her and that'll be enough. That's all I'll need.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Turns out I needed a little more than that.
- 27:49Speaker 1: So but uh, you can only tolerate so much.
- 27:52Speaker 2: And then and I ended up marrying this other girl
- 27:56Speaker 2: that was horrible. I mean, I mean, I know she's
- 27:59Speaker 2: probably listening to the right now, so I don't mean horrible,
- 28:01Speaker 2: but horrible. And uh, but she always sharts the internet
- 28:05Speaker 2: for things about me, so she could say, hey, this
- 28:09Speaker 2: person said, thanks for signing my girlfriend's tickets. What are
- 28:11Speaker 2: you out there signing girlfriend's tickets? Yeah, I was signing
- 28:15Speaker 2: anybody's ticket, you know, just always looking every time she
- 28:18Speaker 2: turned on her computer and made me sick to my
- 28:20Speaker 2: stomach because I didn't know what she was going to
- 28:22Speaker 2: come up with. You know, I'm no angel anyway. And uh,
- 28:26Speaker 2: but so that girl's sister, when she killed herself, sent me,
- 28:31Speaker 2: uh a post that that that my ex wife found.
- 28:36Speaker 2: She printed it saying that she killed herself she brought
- 28:40Speaker 2: it in and handed it to me, and all I
- 28:42Speaker 2: did was sit down on the couch, and she goes, oh,
- 28:46Speaker 2: now you loved her. I like, just give me a minute. Okay,
- 28:50Speaker 2: just this is her sister doing this. No, this is
- 28:53Speaker 2: my wife. She got the note from her, and she
- 28:56Speaker 2: got the letter from her sister and handed it to me,
- 28:58Speaker 2: and she saw it affected me. Jesus, Oh, now you
- 29:01Speaker 2: love your Jesus Christ.
- 29:04Speaker 1: What are you supposed to do? Yeah, a lady that
- 29:06Speaker 1: you used to live with kill herself. Yeah, what the fuck? Yeah,
- 29:10Speaker 1: just give me a minute. A minute, Yeah, give me
- 29:12Speaker 1: a minute, Jesus. It's a human being that you know
- 29:15Speaker 1: that killed themselves. How many people do you think you've
- 29:18Speaker 1: know that have killed themselves?
- 29:21Speaker 2: Oh? Man, let's see, not very many that I really knew. Uh.
- 29:31Speaker 2: My best friend, uh, one of my best friends from
- 29:33Speaker 2: childhood killed himself. And uh, but we thought he died
- 29:37Speaker 2: at the massacre in Waco, because that's he was a
- 29:40Speaker 2: big korreesh guy.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Oh boy, you missed the masaker.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Yeah, he missed the masker, but we thought he would.
- 29:46Speaker 2: We thought maybe he's there when it was all going
- 29:49Speaker 2: going down, but he wasn't. And uh and eventually it
- 29:53Speaker 2: was an odd thing anyway, he was He's a he's
- 29:57Speaker 2: a dear friend from childhood. Is dad was the music
- 30:01Speaker 2: directory at my church, and he and I used to
- 30:04Speaker 2: bluff buff the floors of the church with those big
- 30:07Speaker 2: bluff That was our job on one day a week
- 30:10Speaker 2: that we'd go down there. And we had actually seen
- 30:13Speaker 2: Neil Young songs to the top of our lungs because
- 30:15Speaker 2: we well, that genea song and nice and know we
- 30:21Speaker 2: just sing the fuck out of Neil Young songs. That's
- 30:23Speaker 2: the only tape I had. You know, I know you
- 30:25Speaker 2: and him had a little problem, but I don't have
- 30:27Speaker 2: no problem. I know you were so sweet about that.
- 30:29Speaker 1: I love that guy. I love his music. He just
- 30:34Speaker 1: had he didn't get it.
- 30:35Speaker 2: No, he didn't. That's always that was a that was
- 30:37Speaker 2: a dumb thing.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Well, he just missed. He didn't understand what was happening,
- 30:40Speaker 1: and nobody did. I don't blame him, nobody did. I'd
- 30:44Speaker 1: talked to him in a heartbeat, even though he pulled
- 30:47Speaker 1: his music and tried to get me removed from Spotify,
- 30:50Speaker 1: right that was, I still don't care. I love that
- 30:53Speaker 1: guy and I loved his music even after he did it.
- 30:57Speaker 1: I still listened to his music. Uh, he he missed.
- 31:00Speaker 1: He didn't know what was happening. He got tricked. A
- 31:03Speaker 1: lot of people got tricked. You know, a lot of
- 31:06Speaker 1: people thought that this was the only way out. We
- 31:09Speaker 1: had to listen to these evil, lying fucks that were
- 31:14Speaker 1: telling us that everybody had to take this vaccine. There
- 31:17Speaker 1: was no other medicine available, and if you didn' everybody
- 31:19Speaker 1: was gonna die. And you know, he got caught up
- 31:24Speaker 1: in it. They got us all though, they got the
- 31:26Speaker 1: whole country. He can't be mad at the whole country. Right,
- 31:28Speaker 1: that's crazy.
- 31:29Speaker 2: Right.
- 31:30Speaker 1: I don't want to be mad at anybody anymore.
- 31:32Speaker 2: Run White, I don't either.
- 31:33Speaker 1: As I get older, I'm less and less inclined. There's
- 31:37Speaker 1: the people I don't wish to talk to, Like I
- 31:40Speaker 1: don't need that in my life. I don't need whatever
- 31:43Speaker 1: you bring in my life. But I don't wish you bad.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Yeah. I have really really healthy boundaries when it comes
- 31:50Speaker 2: to people that don't make me feel good. Yeah, I
- 31:52Speaker 2: just don't. I just won't hang around.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't want to be around him and confront
- 31:56Speaker 1: him like, who cares? Good luck to you.
- 31:58Speaker 2: I'll give you a hug, I got some other shit
- 32:00Speaker 2: going on. Yeah, I have friends, But you know what,
- 32:03Speaker 2: I tell you, what makes you a good friend when
- 32:06Speaker 2: you get successful? And I'll just talk about successful like
- 32:10Speaker 2: I am. It's hard to find anybody that'll disagree with you.
- 32:16Speaker 2: You know that, because there's something to gain. And and
- 32:21Speaker 2: that's true with you too. I mean that, you know
- 32:23Speaker 2: you you hold a lot of power, and you have
- 32:27Speaker 2: something a lot of people fucking want. And I know
- 32:30Speaker 2: that because I have a I have a box of
- 32:35Speaker 2: and I should have brought them in and given them
- 32:36Speaker 2: to you. Anyway, I'll bring him to the club tonight.
- 32:38Speaker 2: But it's just a guy I'm met that owns a
- 32:40Speaker 2: sunglass company and he makes sunglasses for hunting. And so
- 32:45Speaker 2: he said.
- 32:45Speaker 1: Who are sunglasses when they hunt?
- 32:50Speaker 2: I don't know nobody.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Uh, you can't wear them when well, I guess maybe
- 32:56Speaker 1: some people probably do. I bet rifle hunters do.
- 32:59Speaker 2: Yeah, they He said that one of them are specifically
- 33:02Speaker 2: for bow hunting. It makes you see the target better
- 33:06Speaker 2: or something.
- 33:07Speaker 1: So he's got an invention.
- 33:10Speaker 2: You know, I don't know. I don't hunt, so I
- 33:13Speaker 2: don't really know anything about hunting and glasses. He just
- 33:15Speaker 2: said he was going to send a box. Would you
- 33:17Speaker 2: give him to Joe? And I said, yeah, I'll give
- 33:18Speaker 2: him to him. And I didn't, So.
- 33:22Speaker 1: I would think the glasses would get in the way,
- 33:25Speaker 1: because you know, when you shoot with the bow, there's
- 33:28Speaker 1: a thing called a peep site. So you have your
- 33:30Speaker 1: string and in your string is uh what one of
- 33:34Speaker 1: the things that's sewn into your string is this little
- 33:36Speaker 1: plastic circle? Sure do you know what it is?
- 33:38Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 33:38Speaker 1: Okay, so you know what lines up with the scope
- 33:40Speaker 1: of the housing of the bow.
- 33:42Speaker 2: I don't know that.
- 33:43Speaker 1: So with a peep site is when you draw back
- 33:45Speaker 1: and you don't look through the string, you look through
- 33:47Speaker 1: the circle that's on the string. It's sewed into the string,
- 33:49Speaker 1: and that circle you line it up exactly with your
- 33:52Speaker 1: site housing. And so where your pin is. It's all
- 33:56Speaker 1: about like staying calm and keeping that pin there, and
- 33:58Speaker 1: you want to keep it all like connected together. So
- 34:02Speaker 1: my eyes like right there, like right next to this,
- 34:06Speaker 1: this this peep site. If I had glasses, am I
- 34:09Speaker 1: getting the way? You know what I mean? Like because
- 34:12Speaker 1: the string is touching my nose and the thing is
- 34:14Speaker 1: right there and I'm just drawing back and I'm looking
- 34:17Speaker 1: at it like that right.
- 34:18Speaker 2: Through I'll give him to you. See what you think.
- 34:21Speaker 1: I don't know anybody who shooting, but I knew I
- 34:23Speaker 1: know some hunters that have glasses, so there must be
- 34:25Speaker 1: a way to adjust.
- 34:27Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know. That's why you told me, though.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Okay, we'll try it out, all right. I'm open to
- 34:31Speaker 1: anything you never know, and anything that makes you good
- 34:34Speaker 1: at that. That's a fucking difficult thing to do. You know.
- 34:39Speaker 1: Like if I meet a guy and he's like, I'm
- 34:41Speaker 1: a bow hunter, I'm like.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Oh, okay, Oh, what I'm saying is this go ahead.
- 34:46Speaker 2: What I'm saying is this that that you're one of
- 34:50Speaker 2: the only friends that I have that'll say now, that's
- 34:54Speaker 2: fucked up. Right, You don't agree with me to make
- 34:59Speaker 2: me feel better because you have something, I have something
- 35:01Speaker 2: you need. Right, you know you'll go ahead and go n.

- 36:34Speaker 1: that green room is great for that a lot of
- 36:37Speaker 1: because everybody knows that everybody loves everybody, so everybody can
- 36:40Speaker 1: just talk openly about anything, you know, like and if
- 36:43Speaker 1: you have like some dumb argument with someone, someone will
- 36:45Speaker 1: come in and go, eh, I think he's right. Yeah, yeah,
- 36:50Speaker 1: you gotta go oh really, well, okay, let me think
- 36:55Speaker 1: about it. You need that in your life. You don't
- 36:58Speaker 1: want to be a tyrant, know, And that's what happens
- 37:01Speaker 1: to a lot of successful people is they get real insecure,
- 37:04Speaker 1: and so they become kind of a tyrant and they
- 37:05Speaker 1: don't want to listen to anybody else. You know. You
- 37:08Speaker 1: see that with people that are like on shows, they
- 37:10Speaker 1: run the show. It's the show is all about them.
- 37:12Speaker 1: You know, they're the show and they're you know, they're
- 37:15Speaker 1: the producer and executive producer, and the cast all kisses
- 37:18Speaker 1: their ass and they're at the top of the fucking
- 37:21Speaker 1: casting call or whatever it is, the call sheet. Yeah,
- 37:25Speaker 1: it's a bad place to be. You don't want to
- 37:26Speaker 1: be there. Don't do it. Don't do it. You just
- 37:32Speaker 1: you got to resist the urge.
- 37:35Speaker 2: So I went back to my ayahuasca place down in
- 37:43Speaker 2: Costa Rica boom boom boom. So I went four years ago, right,
- 37:51Speaker 2: and uh, and that's when I quit drinking, which you
- 37:55Speaker 2: know I did, right, You know I quit drinking.
- 37:57Speaker 1: I quit too a month ago.
- 38:01Speaker 2: I knew that you weren't drinking.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Yeah, but I didn't stop drinking.
- 38:04Speaker 2: I didn't know that it was a Yeah.
- 38:07Speaker 1: I think I'm done. Yeah, for no reason other than
- 38:11Speaker 1: it's not good for you.
- 38:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:12Speaker 1: No, I didn't have to.
- 38:14Speaker 2: I enjoyed it, right, No, you were having a good time.
- 38:17Speaker 2: I was watching.
- 38:18Speaker 1: But the days after drinking were just too rough. And
- 38:22Speaker 1: I'm like, what kind of a moron who takes so
- 38:25Speaker 1: good care of his body is poisoned himself a couple
- 38:28Speaker 1: of days a week for fun?
- 38:30Speaker 2: You know?
- 38:30Speaker 1: Why am I doing that? And then I'm like, well,
- 38:32Speaker 1: will I have the same amount of fun if I
- 38:33Speaker 1: don't poison myself? Turns out yes, exactly, right.
- 38:38Speaker 2: Well, there's more than one way to skin a cat.
- 38:39Speaker 2: I mean, you haven't quit everything, right, exactly, Yeah, And
- 38:43Speaker 2: I'm just skinning a cat a different way.
- 38:45Speaker 1: Tell me about your cat. Well, I'm going to play
- 38:46Speaker 1: some ecros. Did they play those while you went through
- 38:49Speaker 1: the There we go, Jamie's got them already, So what's that.
- 38:55Speaker 1: This is the songs that a lot of the shaman
- 38:58Speaker 1: liked to play while you're tripping balls, okay, and if
- 39:01Speaker 1: they play this song while you're under the influence, the
- 39:05Speaker 1: hallucination will dance to the songs.
- 39:09Speaker 2: Oh wow.
- 39:10Speaker 1: It's there's certain songs you're like, I don't get it,
- 39:12Speaker 1: like the Grateful Dead. I've never been on acid at
- 39:15Speaker 1: a Dead concert, but they say, if you are, you
- 39:19Speaker 1: get it. So like I'm missing that part right, you know.
- 39:24Speaker 1: So to me, it's like, it's just this jam music,
- 39:26Speaker 1: which is fine, but I'd rather listen to Skinnered, you know.
- 39:29Speaker 2: What I mean. I saw a Skinnered Monday or a
- 39:31Speaker 2: Sunday night and it was.
- 39:33Speaker 1: The original, the real Skinner before they're playing Crash.
- 39:36Speaker 2: No, I'm just saying these guys are put show together. Sure,
- 39:41Speaker 2: Ricky Medlock playing Alan Collins is play, they have two
- 39:46Speaker 2: other guitar players, but it is a band. I mean,
- 39:49Speaker 2: they are nailing this shit. I had tears coming out
- 39:53Speaker 2: of my eyes during fucking Freebird for a lot of reasons.
- 39:56Speaker 2: Number one, I saw them in seventy three. Me and
- 40:00Speaker 2: Steve Cook, who was my best friend till the day
- 40:02Speaker 2: died and uh. And Ronnie van z Aunt was lighting
- 40:05Speaker 2: joints and he was handing him out into the crowd. Well,
- 40:09Speaker 2: me and Steve had worked our way up to the front.
- 40:11Speaker 2: He handed one of them to me, and everybody else
- 40:14Speaker 2: was taking a hit. I just stuck at my pocket
- 40:16Speaker 2: and uh, and it went in the bathroom and smoked
- 40:19Speaker 2: it because they were kitty. It was illegal then. And
- 40:21Speaker 2: I was listening to Skit. Well, Sunday night, I'm at
- 40:24Speaker 2: the Skinner show. There's cops where I was, and there
- 40:27Speaker 2: was some outhouses right next to it where you go
- 40:29Speaker 2: through this fence, and I told my girlfriend I'll be
- 40:32Speaker 2: right back, and I was over there. I was in
- 40:34Speaker 2: the outhouse smoking a joint, listening to Skinner, and I'm like, well,
- 40:36Speaker 2: I haven't changed much in fifty fucking years, you know,
- 40:39Speaker 2: the exact same thing.
- 40:41Speaker 1: So some songs people just nailed it and it stays
- 40:46Speaker 1: great forever. Yeah, you can never get tired of free Bird.
- 40:49Speaker 1: But there's solo.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Yeah, and they just fucking hammered it home. I mean
- 40:54Speaker 2: it was so good. Oh that it was just I
- 40:57Speaker 2: couldn't believe it. You know, them on stage at the
- 41:01Speaker 2: Greek one time, maybe twenty years ago, or fifteen years ago,
- 41:06Speaker 2: I don't know. And it was fun because I got
- 41:08Speaker 2: to I got to say that, you know, when I
- 41:11Speaker 2: was sixteen years old, we were at the Scared Show
- 41:14Speaker 2: and we had taken enough mushrooms to kill an average teenager,
- 41:18Speaker 2: but we weren't average teenagers. And ladies and gentlemen ladders scattered.
- 41:23Speaker 2: It was great, fun, cool, and uh so it kind
- 41:27Speaker 2: of brought back all those memories, you know, when in
- 41:29Speaker 2: Washington played again. It was kind of It's weird because
- 41:33Speaker 2: especially when I come back from rhythmia, which is my
- 41:35Speaker 2: place out there that I always come back emotional.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Right and.
- 41:41Speaker 2: Kind of full of love and forgiveness and those kinds
- 41:45Speaker 2: of things. That's quick what I learned from from those hallucinogens.
- 41:50Speaker 1: Yeah, isn't it crazy that that's illegal? Yeah, to feel good,
- 41:56Speaker 1: we got to go to another country to be a
- 41:58Speaker 1: better person. You've got to go to another You got
- 42:03Speaker 1: to leave the land of the free, right, leave the
- 42:06Speaker 1: land of freedom to go to another country that's much
- 42:11Speaker 1: more lawless and taking the divine and come back a
- 42:15Speaker 1: better person.
- 42:16Speaker 2: It's and it's crazy, and I always say, and I
- 42:18Speaker 2: don't think it's for everybody, you know, I'm not somebody
- 42:22Speaker 2: out there just going, yeah, you got to you got
- 42:24Speaker 2: to do this, because I think you have to be
- 42:26Speaker 2: open to some things. You know, you have to be
- 42:28Speaker 2: open to Hey, maybe I'm wrong about everything. You know,
- 42:32Speaker 2: maybe there is.
- 42:33Speaker 1: If you're not open to it, you'll get hit hard well.
- 42:37Speaker 2: And that's why it's not for everybody, because you know,
- 42:39Speaker 2: I've seen people wig down there and uh, and which
- 42:42Speaker 2: is why I you know, I know you can get
- 42:46Speaker 2: ayahuasca locally and have they have you know, people that
- 42:49Speaker 2: are I don't know where they got their shaman title from,
- 42:53Speaker 2: but you can do internet are Yeah, but I know
- 42:57Speaker 2: that there. You know, it's a license medical facility with doctors.
- 43:01Speaker 2: It's the only one in the world that's a licensed
- 43:03Speaker 2: medical facility. And uh it's and they're prepared when people wig,
- 43:10Speaker 2: you know, they know what to.
- 43:11Speaker 1: Do you down.
- 43:12Speaker 2: Yeah, and they do too. They will fucking bind you
- 43:16Speaker 2: up and wait till it to clear because they know
- 43:19Speaker 2: that you're at a point in this that you're going
- 43:21Speaker 2: through some heavy ship. One of them was an NFL
- 43:25Speaker 2: player last time I was there, and this guy was
- 43:27Speaker 2: fucking huge place from Buffalo and uh and he just
- 43:32Speaker 2: and I was like, God, if if you had to
- 43:35Speaker 2: pick somebody to wig you would say, please, don't let
- 43:37Speaker 2: it be that fucking dude. He wigged. Oh no, he
- 43:41Speaker 2: wigged big time and started just screaming, get the fuck
- 43:47Speaker 2: away from me now, which will you know that kind
- 43:51Speaker 2: of You know, you got seventy people in this room
- 43:53Speaker 2: that are tripping and so oh no, and it was
- 43:58Speaker 2: and but they got big guys too, and so they
- 44:05Speaker 2: just got him out of the room, got him calm down,
- 44:07Speaker 2: and he didn't leave. You know, he was going through
- 44:11Speaker 2: some shit. The first time I went there, this girl
- 44:15Speaker 2: from Japan started kicking and screaming, and they took her
- 44:20Speaker 2: outside and they had to fucking subduer. But at the
- 44:24Speaker 2: end of the day, the person with the biggest smile
- 44:27Speaker 2: on their face was her because she worked through some
- 44:32Speaker 2: shit that I can't even talk about. That I happened
- 44:34Speaker 2: to know what it was, but it ain't worth knowing it.
- 44:38Speaker 2: But she found pure fucking joy and peace in her life,
- 44:44Speaker 2: and you could see it in her face, you know.
- 44:47Speaker 2: And I was wondering why when she was wigging out,
- 44:49Speaker 2: why is nobody flipping out but me? Because the people
- 44:51Speaker 2: that worked there weren't flipping out at all. Because they've
- 44:53Speaker 2: seen it, and there's nothing they haven't seen. There's been
- 44:56Speaker 2: eighteen thousand people through that facility, and so they've seen
- 44:59Speaker 2: it all. But they just know how to they know
- 45:03Speaker 2: how to handle it. Well. I wonder if you're just
- 45:05Speaker 2: in some mansion in Beverly Hills or whatever, if there's
- 45:10Speaker 2: somebody there that knows how to handle it.
- 45:11Speaker 1: Probably not, Probably not, Probably not, especially if you don't
- 45:15Speaker 1: know what you're gonna get hit with.
- 45:17Speaker 2: Yeah, and you need to be in a really safe
- 45:20Speaker 2: place where people know how to guide you through it. Yeah,
- 45:23Speaker 2: you know you don't. It's not something I think you
- 45:25Speaker 2: want to grab a handful of and go sit in
- 45:26Speaker 2: a fucking closet, you know, and try to figure it
- 45:29Speaker 2: out for yourself.
- 45:30Speaker 1: So that's the real weirdness of any kind of psychedelic journey,
- 45:35Speaker 1: is that you're probably gonna be going through some shit
- 45:40Speaker 1: and someone could either manipulate you during that time or
- 45:43Speaker 1: help you during that right, And there are people that
- 45:46Speaker 1: will manipulate.
- 45:47Speaker 2: You, absolutely, And that's why, you know, that's why I
- 45:52Speaker 2: go to this place that's not that easy to go to,
- 45:55Speaker 2: just because it's so safe, you know, It's just it's
- 46:00Speaker 2: set up perfectly for what they're trying to do. And
- 46:04Speaker 2: it was this guy's dream to do that, to make
- 46:08Speaker 2: it accessible to regular people. So back then when he
- 46:11Speaker 2: opened up, you had to go to a corrugated tin
- 46:14Speaker 2: shack in Peru or wherever to get this stuff. And
- 46:17Speaker 2: he said, I want to make a place that's safe
- 46:19Speaker 2: to go and people feel comfortable. And you know, so,
- 46:23Speaker 2: isn't it kind.
- 46:23Speaker 1: Of crazy that that's illegal. I mean, it's kind of
- 46:26Speaker 1: the weirdest thing of all time that we haven't just
- 46:29Speaker 1: as a society went, Okay, why are all these people
- 46:32Speaker 1: going to these places? Okay, when they come back, do
- 46:34Speaker 1: they have positive experiences? Does it help them? Yeah? A
- 46:37Speaker 1: lot of them. Okay, why don't we do that here?
- 46:40Speaker 1: It should be that simple, should be that simple, It
- 46:42Speaker 1: should be so simple.
- 46:43Speaker 2: Yeah. There was a guy there that was on a
- 46:45Speaker 2: scholarship they had for basically wounded warriors that are going
- 46:50Speaker 2: through heavy PTSD. There's an organization that's sending guys to
- 46:55Speaker 2: rhythmia and so, and I got to talk to him
- 46:59Speaker 2: a lot while he was there, and he was a psychologist.
- 47:01Speaker 2: Uh and but and he was he was fucked up,
- 47:06Speaker 2: and uh, but I kind of got to watch his
- 47:09Speaker 2: transformation a little bit. Watch this guy's coming around. And
- 47:12Speaker 2: I've seen that, and I've seen the transformation in myself
- 47:15Speaker 2: where I could just not be so angry and not
- 47:18Speaker 2: be and not hold all this hate. You know that
- 47:22Speaker 2: that I that that that takes so much energy to
- 47:25Speaker 2: fucking control and to have them really show me a
- 47:29Speaker 2: way to let all that stuff go, you know, to
- 47:31Speaker 2: uh and to be a happier person. Uh, you know that. Uh,
- 47:37Speaker 2: And it's hard to I really don't understand ayahuasca, so
- 47:42Speaker 2: it's really hard to explain it to somebody else, you know.
- 47:45Speaker 2: But uh, but I.
- 47:47Speaker 1: Don't think anybody really understands it.
- 47:49Speaker 2: Yeah, right, And I know there's some stuff that's stronger
- 47:51Speaker 2: than that, but I don't that. I don't know what
- 47:54Speaker 2: it's called. What is that?
- 47:56Speaker 1: What it is I began is the one that people
- 47:58Speaker 1: use for addiction. There's a place called Beyond that's in
- 48:04Speaker 1: Mexico that does that. Rick Perry was telling us about that.
- 48:09Speaker 1: A lot of former Governor Rick Perry's part of that.
- 48:12Speaker 1: He really wants to bring I Begain to Texas and.
- 48:15Speaker 2: Have treatment we Gambre.
- 48:19Speaker 1: I think they can get iye again, I think especially
- 48:21Speaker 1: with a Republican like Rick Perry, who's really concerned about
- 48:26Speaker 1: the mental health of veterans, because I think that's where
- 48:29Speaker 1: it really shines. I Begain in particular helps a lot
- 48:32Speaker 1: of people alsolt. It gives you like a review of
- 48:35Speaker 1: your life. Apparently I've never experienced it, but the people
- 48:38Speaker 1: that have have very positive things to say about it,
- 48:41Speaker 1: and it's incredibly good at helping people get over addictions.
- 48:46Speaker 1: It has a very high success rate for one treatment,
- 48:50Speaker 1: I think it's in the eighty percent, and then for
- 48:53Speaker 1: if you do two treatments, it's in the mid nineties.
- 48:56Speaker 2: That's amazing.
- 48:57Speaker 1: Yeah, people that never go back to the never, never
- 49:01Speaker 1: go back to whatever, that's gambling, whatever you have, whatever's
- 49:03Speaker 1: wrong with you.
- 49:05Speaker 2: All you got to do is figure out what's wrong
- 49:07Speaker 2: with you.
- 49:07Speaker 1: Yeah, you have to figure out why you're doing that. Like,
- 49:10Speaker 1: what is this pathway that I keep going down that's
- 49:12Speaker 1: sabotaging my whole life? And why why can I not
- 49:14Speaker 1: resist it? Why do I keep reaching for the bottle?
- 49:17Speaker 1: What is it? Why do I keep snorting coke? What
- 49:19Speaker 1: is it? What is it?
- 49:20Speaker 2: Well, that was the question I had with myself because
- 49:23Speaker 2: I drank like a fool for years. It was funny
- 49:31Speaker 2: because they were whenever I was single again and I
- 49:34Speaker 2: was in the green room and I said, maybe I'll
- 49:36Speaker 2: start drinking again, and everybody at one time went, no,
- 49:42Speaker 2: I I.
- 49:43Speaker 1: Was just kidding. I was just getting well, you quit
- 49:45Speaker 1: like that though, you did, like you were gone?
- 49:47Speaker 2: I did, and uh. But but I went to to
- 49:52Speaker 2: to Rhythm with intention. I wanted to know why I
- 49:57Speaker 2: was doing this to myself and why I could not
- 50:00Speaker 2: see a way to quit, and it was so tied
- 50:02Speaker 2: up in my persona, my stage presence, who I really
- 50:06Speaker 2: was at the time, and I'm like, why is this
- 50:10Speaker 2: all tied to me? And why can't I shake it?
- 50:14Speaker 2: And and so with that, I also went through hypnosis
- 50:19Speaker 2: because I had to get sober before I went to
- 50:23Speaker 2: because that's not what their deal is. They're not a
- 50:25Speaker 2: treatment facility. It could be a byproduct of it, but
- 50:28Speaker 2: they're like, we we're not gonna we don't have detox here,
- 50:31Speaker 2: you know, So you have to quit some other way
- 50:33Speaker 2: and once you've been sober for a month, you can
- 50:36Speaker 2: come down here, which is exactly what I did. I
- 50:39Speaker 2: came up with a way to do that through hypnosis,
- 50:42Speaker 2: which I thought was pretty effective. And but I got
- 50:46Speaker 2: sober once before in one of those rehabs in Malibu
- 50:49Speaker 2: for ninety grand and which was at the time I
- 50:55Speaker 2: was spiraling, you know, I was I was living in
- 50:58Speaker 2: a five star hotel and hills, I was doing a
- 51:01Speaker 2: bunch of blow. I was screwing expensive hookers, which was
- 51:05Speaker 2: exactly my life plan. You know. I'm like, okay, here
- 51:08Speaker 2: it is, this is And it ended up feeling pretty hollow,
- 51:13Speaker 2: you know. And I ended up going there and uh
- 51:17Speaker 2: and I stayed sober for about maybe six months or
- 51:21Speaker 2: something like that. But it was white knuckle the whole
- 51:23Speaker 2: fucking time of you know, no fun. But when I
- 51:27Speaker 2: when I did it the way I did it, when
- 51:30Speaker 2: I checked into that facility, I got the sweat night
- 51:33Speaker 2: sweats so bad. When I quit that I would They
- 51:36Speaker 2: had two beds in the new people's things, and I
- 51:39Speaker 2: would soak the sheets in one of them and move
- 51:42Speaker 2: to the other bed and soak the sheets in that.
- 51:45Speaker 2: When I was detoxing big time, never happened this time.
- 51:50Speaker 2: I never had a night sweat, never regretted it, never
- 51:55Speaker 2: thought about it again, never tempted to drink again. And
- 52:00Speaker 2: and you know, and I I own number one tequila
- 52:03Speaker 2: still and it's there at the green room every night,
- 52:08Speaker 2: and I'm not even it doesn't even bother me a bit.
- 52:11Speaker 1: That's interesting. And so that's what the big fear a
- 52:13Speaker 1: lot of people have is how I still be around bars.
- 52:16Speaker 2: Right and you know, and and yeah, is it a
- 52:19Speaker 2: little awkward at first? Yes? And do I hang out
- 52:22Speaker 2: in bars all the time other than our club, No,
- 52:27Speaker 2: I don't. I mean, I'll go listen to music. If
- 52:30Speaker 2: there's something better just to go to a bar and
- 52:32Speaker 2: hang out, I just don't do it. And uh, for
- 52:35Speaker 2: whatever reason.
- 52:36Speaker 1: Well, it's not that much fun being around drunks when
- 52:38Speaker 1: you're sold. No, it's really not the vibe of the
- 52:42Speaker 1: drunks to appreciate drunk talk. When you're sober and someone's
- 52:46Speaker 1: drunk and they're telling you some fucking story about their
- 52:48Speaker 1: boss being a douchebag, it's like.
- 52:51Speaker 2: Whoa, Right, So, and I also have a tendency, a
- 52:56Speaker 2: natural tendency to just kind of isolate anyway, you know.
- 53:00Speaker 2: And so I really that's one of the things I
- 53:03Speaker 2: love about the club is it gets me out of
- 53:05Speaker 2: the house. It gives me to go down there where
- 53:07Speaker 2: my friends are and do what I do for a living,
- 53:09Speaker 2: and what I do for a living and what I
- 53:11Speaker 2: do for fun both.
- 53:13Speaker 1: I think a lot of people have that problem, that
- 53:15Speaker 1: isolation problem, you know.
- 53:16Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, because I think that I think that that
- 53:22Speaker 2: people like you and I I think a lot is
- 53:27Speaker 2: a lot gets dumped on us, you know, because I'm
- 53:31Speaker 2: the of all the friends that I know that I've
- 53:34Speaker 2: known for a long while, I'm the only one that
- 53:36Speaker 2: has that's been very successful, not out of my comic friends,
- 53:41Speaker 2: but out of my regular friends. And and it seems
- 53:44Speaker 2: like I get just I have to take in a
- 53:48Speaker 2: lot of stuff, and I never knew how to get
- 53:50Speaker 2: rid of it. So I would just get to the
- 53:52Speaker 2: point where I was full and I couldn't take any more.
- 53:54Speaker 2: And that's when I would isolate myself, right Tony, people
- 53:57Speaker 2: want something to too many people want something. That's why
- 54:00Speaker 2: I'm gravitate towards you, is because I know you don't
- 54:04Speaker 2: want jack ship for me except for me to be
- 54:06Speaker 2: your buddy, and uh, let us be brothers in comedy
- 54:10Speaker 2: and whatever, so in life and life and so you know.
- 54:14Speaker 2: So that's really good for me even today. You know.
- 54:17Speaker 2: That's what gets me out of the house sometimes, you know.
- 54:20Speaker 1: And I love being home. I love being home with
- 54:23Speaker 1: my family. Hanging out. But my comedy family I love
- 54:27Speaker 1: being around too, and that's what I feel like. I
- 54:29Speaker 1: feel like when, especially when comics are in town that
- 54:31Speaker 1: I don't get to see that often. Oh, we all
- 54:35Speaker 1: hang out together. It's beautiful.
- 54:36Speaker 2: Who were those two actors that were at the club
- 54:38Speaker 2: the other day? It was so much fun to have
- 54:40Speaker 2: them in there. It was which night. Fuck, I don't know.
- 54:45Speaker 2: We get a lot of visitors when Wood he was there, No,
- 54:51Speaker 2: uh yeah, Brady Cooper and well, it was fun to
- 54:57Speaker 2: have him in the green room because you know, we
- 55:00Speaker 2: we we all we're all around each other all the time.
- 55:02Speaker 2: So it's winning to have a new people in there
- 55:04Speaker 2: with with stories we've never heard. I was one. Yeah,
- 55:08Speaker 2: it was it was coolly shit, you know, just to
- 55:10Speaker 2: have him hanging out. You know, good guys, you know.
- 55:14Speaker 1: What he was there. You weren't here when what he
- 55:15Speaker 1: was there? No, Oh my god, he was so much fun.
- 55:18Speaker 1: He's so fun.
- 55:19Speaker 2: Did he do your show? No?
- 55:21Speaker 1: Yeah, he did my show, but then this that was
- 55:23Speaker 1: nights before that, and he just wanted to come to
- 55:25Speaker 1: the club. He's been to the club a couple of
- 55:27Speaker 1: times now.
- 55:28Speaker 2: Harrelson, Yeah, Oh, I didn't know.
- 55:30Speaker 1: That Yeah, he's just been hanging out.
- 55:32Speaker 2: Fuck, I always wanted to meet that.
- 55:33Speaker 1: Oh he's so nice. We just all hung out in
- 55:36Speaker 1: the green room and he was just like one of
- 55:38Speaker 1: the boys. It was so easy.
- 55:40Speaker 2: How fucking cool? Is that?
- 55:41Speaker 1: So cool? So he's so easy to talk to, so
- 55:44Speaker 1: like and talks to everybody the same way. He's like
- 55:47Speaker 1: so easy. He's just a genuine dude. He don't even
- 55:49Speaker 1: have a phone. You can't even get a hold of him. Really, Yeah,
- 55:52Speaker 1: you don't have a phone, doesn't have a doesn't do email.
- 55:54Speaker 1: Fuck you. He's like a got an assistant that handles everything. Yeah,
- 56:00Speaker 1: this is probably a freeing thing. You know, it's just
- 56:03Speaker 1: just stop, just stop, leave me alone, right you know.
- 56:07Speaker 2: Well I don't answer emails anyway.
- 56:09Speaker 1: It's also like, let me know what I actually, let
- 56:11Speaker 1: me think about what I think about things, instead of
- 56:14Speaker 1: being inundated by all these other people's thoughts constantly all
- 56:17Speaker 1: day long, which is valuable. It's good to get other
- 56:20Speaker 1: people's perspectives on things. I think it enriches you, but
- 56:23Speaker 1: at a certain point in time become captive to it.
- 56:26Speaker 1: And I think there's just too many people that are
- 56:27Speaker 1: captive to other people's thoughts.
- 56:30Speaker 2: I think so too. That's why I'm so closed minded.
- 56:36Speaker 2: And I really am. I'm truly closed minded. And I
- 56:39Speaker 2: think you're open minded and try to be. And and
- 56:42Speaker 2: I struggle with that because just letting people pour information
- 56:47Speaker 2: into my head, you know, I just I just tend
- 56:49Speaker 2: to avoid it. I am engaged, you know, and that
- 56:53Speaker 2: I do follow things closely, and not the stock market,
- 56:58Speaker 2: but everything else.
- 57:01Speaker 1: Follow this dock marker right now. It's so baffling, it's
- 57:05Speaker 1: so crazy, Like what is going on? Like the whole
- 57:08Speaker 1: world's matter at us. Trump's playing golf and in between swings,
- 57:13Speaker 1: He's on the phone with presidents of countries.
- 57:15Speaker 2: You gonna need more money? Yeah, that's right. Somebody told
- 57:18Speaker 2: me the other day. Is he playing jackers? Is he
- 57:20Speaker 2: playing chances? He's playing golf.
- 57:22Speaker 1: He's playing golf, Like what does that mean? Everybody wants
- 57:25Speaker 1: to think there's some like grand plan to it. Well,
- 57:27Speaker 1: they think the grand plan is. Look, you know we
- 57:32Speaker 1: remember back when the was it the ninety two elections
- 57:39Speaker 1: when ross Parro is in so when ross Paro laid
- 57:42Speaker 1: out what happened You remember during that debate, when ross
- 57:46Speaker 1: Paro laid out what happened with the tariffs, so that
- 57:50Speaker 1: like they when we try to sell stuff over there,
- 57:53Speaker 1: we get a high tariff, it's like a thirty five
- 57:55Speaker 1: percent tariff, but they don't get tariffs when it comes
- 57:58Speaker 1: over here. It's not the same. It's not like you know,
- 58:00Speaker 1: you guys, there's a tax on everybody. If you want
- 58:03Speaker 1: to sell your goods to encourage people to buy American products.
- 58:06Speaker 1: If you want to sell your products in America, we
- 58:08Speaker 1: get a tax. That tax goes to the fucking grid
- 58:10Speaker 1: or whatever the hell they're fixing with it. Ross bro
- 58:14Speaker 1: was laying it out like this is how all the
- 58:15Speaker 1: jobs went to Mexico. Because have you ever seen that, Jamie.
- 58:20Speaker 1: It's it's see if you can find it. It's a
- 58:22Speaker 1: great speech because Ross.
- 58:24Speaker 2: He talked about the giant sucking sound.
- 58:26Speaker 1: Yes, you actually mentioned that earlier.
- 58:29Speaker 2: I was talking about it.
- 58:29Speaker 1: Yes, that's it. That's funny. Did you just see that
- 58:31Speaker 1: recently or something?
- 58:32Speaker 2: No, I just remember it.
- 58:34Speaker 1: Oh boy, the giant size.
- 58:36Speaker 2: He would have been a great president.
- 58:37Speaker 1: He voted for him.
- 58:39Speaker 2: He had big ears.
- 58:41Speaker 1: You know, he didn't come across as independent. He was
- 58:44Speaker 1: an independent, and nobody was voting for independent. By the way,
- 58:47Speaker 1: they changed the whole way debates work after this, because
- 58:51Speaker 1: it used to be if you got five percent of
- 58:53Speaker 1: the vote in the primary that you could be a
- 58:55Speaker 1: part of the presidential debates, and uh, that's not the case.
- 59:00Speaker 1: Or it was five percent in a I forget what
- 59:02Speaker 1: the number was that you had to reach, but it
- 59:03Speaker 1: wasn't a high threshold, and then you could be a
- 59:05Speaker 1: part of the debate. And they changed the shit out
- 59:07Speaker 1: of that after this because ross pro tanked it. They
- 59:10Speaker 1: thought HW was going to go for a second term,
- 59:12Speaker 1: and meanwhile Ross pro fucked it up because a lot
- 59:14Speaker 1: of people that would have voted for Bush voted for
- 59:16Speaker 1: Ross and the people that were already going to vote
- 59:18Speaker 1: for Clinton voted for Clinton, and Clinton won. Bill play
- 59:21Speaker 1: this gym thirteen.
- 59:21Speaker 3: Dollars fourteen dollars an hour for factory workers, and you
- 59:25Speaker 3: can move your factory south for border. Pay a dollar
- 59:27Speaker 3: an hour for labor.
- 59:28Speaker 1: Hire young twenty five.
- 59:29Speaker 3: That's assume you've been in business for a long time.
- 59:31Speaker 3: You've got to mature, work for it. Pay a dollar
- 59:33Speaker 3: an hour for your labor.
- 59:35Speaker 1: Have no health care.
- 59:36Speaker 3: That's the most expensive single element making a car. Have
- 59:39Speaker 3: no environmental controls, no pollution controls, and no retirement and
- 59:45Speaker 3: you don't care about anything but making money. There will
- 59:48Speaker 3: be a jomp sucking sounding there.
- 59:50Speaker 2: It is right there.
- 59:52Speaker 1: If the people send me to.
- 59:54Speaker 3: Wash the and the first thing I'll do is study
- 59:55Speaker 3: that two thousand page agreement and make sure it's a
- 59:58Speaker 3: two way street. One last point here I've called. I
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: decided I was dumb and didn't understand it, so I
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: called it.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: Who's who?
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: The folks have been around it? And I said, well,
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: won't everybody go south? They said, we'll be disrupted. I
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: said for how long? I finally got them up for
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: twelve to fifteen years, And I said, well, how does
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: it stop being disrupted? And that is when their jobs
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: come up from a dollar an hour to six dollars
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: an hour, and I just go down to six dollars
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: an hour. Then it's leveled again. But in the meantime,
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: you've wrecked the country with these kinds of deals.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: Jesus Christ, he was what a fucking smart man.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: He was right, And that's exactly what happened. American manufacturing collapsed. Yeah,
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: and they did it all for money, and they did
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: it all because they were greedy.
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: They were already rich, right, And if.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: We could have just gotten those motherfuckers in my ayahuasca.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: Jesus Christ, they just smoothed the fuck out. Man.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: It would have said, okay, okay, okay, well let's be nice,
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: let's make America great again.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: I don't understand the trade war with Canada because have
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: you ever met a Canadian that had thirty five dollars
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: in his pocket? No, they're all broke. They have twenty
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: two dollars, that's it. And they'll buy you a beer.
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: You know, I love I've always Yeah, they're pro any
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: money up there, comeing to have any money because because
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: it's socialism, you know, they just they I think it's
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: a great place, don't you love Canada?
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: I love it. Well, they have socialized medicine, but it's
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: not it's a capitalist society.
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: It is, but socialized medicine. It's expensive. So they how much?
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: What percentage of did Canadians paying taxes? So I don't know,
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: let's find that out. What is uh? What's the Canadian
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: tax rate? I know it's higher than Americans.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: I know. Mine's a bitch.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: And when you go over there, you have to pay
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: taxes too, Like if you do a gig, yeah you
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: have to pay tax Yeah, you pay Canadian taxes on.
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: It, and you get paid in Canadian dollars. I'm not
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: going up there much for shows.
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: Yeah, but you know, so here it is Canadian. Canada's
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: top federal income tax rate is thirty three percent. Well,
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: the US is thirty seven percent.
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: However, when combining federal provincial state taxes, Canadians often face
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: higher marginal rates across various income levels. That's interesting, but
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: there's only thirty three percent. Ours is thirty seven. I
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: thought ours was lower than theirs.
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: I thought ours was forty.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: Well it is when you get to a certain tax bracket, correct,
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: Isn't it ours changes when you get high? Right?
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: It does?
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: Thirty three percent on the portion over two hundred and
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: forty six thousand dollars. What's a what's ours in terms
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: of like the highest tax bracket? What's the highest US
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: to Is it thirty seven? That's what it is. What's
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: really crazy to me is when people say the rich
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: should pay more taxes. Okay, fine, but where do you
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: think that's going? Where's it going? Where is the money going?
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: Is the money's going to the federal government? Do you
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: think they're good at it? Do you think they're good
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: at managing your money, if you paid attention to all
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: the shit. Elon's fucking uncovered. Thirty seven percent is when
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: you make over six hundred and nine thousand dollars here,
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: that's you, montherfucker.
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: Oh that's it's me last month.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: This is the thing. It's like, I'm happy to pay
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: tax if I thought that they were doing a great job.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: But it's just you are being strong armed into giving
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: money to people that do a really shitty job of
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: protecting your money and investigate in the country. It's a
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: lot of it is going to bureaucracy and bullshit and
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: a bunch of things that you don't have any saying.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: If you could like opt out of it, if you could,
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: like imagine if you like pick what you you know,
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: if you had like a whole tax sheet, would you
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: like your money to go to would you like your
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: money to go to? Uh overthrowing governments? No? Like what
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: if the federal government's budget was entirely based on the
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: will of the people, Like you get to choose, like
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: how much your money you want to put into drone
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: strikes and Yemen? I says, I don't want zero of
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: my money going to that. You know, how many. How
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: much money do you want to go to this or that?
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: Or clean water? Okay, clean waters, I was good. You know,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: how much infrastructure if fuck yah fixed the streets.
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: Well, I'm kind of I agree with you. And I've
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: just heard you say this that you know, everybody should
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: have access to health care and education and the whole country,
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: the whole country, everybody. That that would rise us all.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: Up, less losers. Yeah, that's how you make a Marriaga great,
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: Less losers, Less people that are saddled down with a
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: lifetime of debt because they broke their leg. That's crazy.
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: Yeah, all my you know, all my son's friends are
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: all saddled with ninety thousand dollars worth of fucking student
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: loan debt. And uh and my son was lucky enough
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: to that I had enough money to pay for his
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: you know, and uh and so he doesn't have that burden.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: But god damn it, nobody should have that burden for
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: an education.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: And it's just a for profit institution that rope you
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: into thinking that that was necessary, that you have to
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: be And by the way, you can get as good
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: an education right now online as is available anywhere on.
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: Earth if you have the discipline anticipline. Right.
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what's so wild. That's what's so fascinating about
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: this time is that it is basically obsolete, and yet
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: people are still paying seventy thousand dollars a year for it.
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: And more like, what what does Harvard cost? How much
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: is Harvard? What's Harvard's yearly tuition? Jamie, what do you guess?
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: I was elite? Fifty?
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: Yeah, at least fifty.
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: Imagine if you're a middle class guy and you've got
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: two kids and they do real good and they don't
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: have scholarships, and you got to pay for them.
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: I can't imagine. I mean, I don't see how people
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: do it. I mean, I really don't.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: Really do it.
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: Oh boy.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: The total cost of attendance, including fees, housing, and food,
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: reaching around eighty two thousand dollars. Undergraduate tuish is fifty
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: six and fifty dollars for a year. That's a lot
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: of money.
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: Man, that's one year. And if you drop out after
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: one year, then you have nothing in your down eighty grand.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: But if you make it through those four years, is
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: now you're two hundred grand in the hole that you owe.
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: And then you have to get a job and then
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: you get a job that pays fifty and you're like, what, yeah,
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: oh my god, this off right, and they never pay
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: this off.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: And then you have to throw a couple of kids
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: on top of that, and.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: You know something wild. There's people out there, there's Social
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: Security is getting docked because they owe student loans. So
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: that take money out of your social Security to pay
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: for your student loans, because the student loans is the
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: one thing you can never.
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: Scant bankrupt, which is so crazy, it's cruel.
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: It doesn't make any sense. You're saddling an eighteen year
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: old with the burden of a lifetime hot Harvard, we're
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: off a free tuition for families earning two hundred thousand
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: dollars or less a year. Oh that's great.
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: To who? To who? You can't even get into.
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: Harvard's right, but it's still good. We'll be free for
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: students and families earning two hundred thousand dollars or less
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: a year. Announced Monday, Harvard's long sought to open our
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: doors to the most talented students, no matter their financial circumstances.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: That's great, Yeah, that's great. I just don't know if
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: it's necessary. I think it's probably necessary for kids to
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: go to school just to like a passage, a right
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: of passage, you know, Like I think ceremonies and rights
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: of passages are missing at our society, and especially I
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: could speak for young men. They don't know when they're
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: a man, Like am I a man? Yet? Like there's
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: some men that you know in their thirties, their dad's
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: still yelling at them, you know what I mean. It's
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: like when do I am I man? When am I
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: an equal? When am I? You know, we don't have
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: a ceremony. You know, in other tribal societies and all
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: throughout history, people have had rituals, rights of passage, rituals
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: where people feel like, Okay, we fucking made it, you know,
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: like you have a black belt ceremony. You got your
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: black belt, all right, right, I made it. You know
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: I'm in. But you know that's so I think there's
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: a benefit in that society. But then you got to
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: like unlearn all this shit. Your fucking crazy professors are
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: telling you.
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: Did you go to college?
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: Yes, I went to you Mass Boston.
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: Oh wow, that's good school, right, easy to get into.
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: I was. I only went because I didn't want people
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: thinking I was a loser. That's the only reason why
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: I went. I just wasted my time there. I went
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: for three years, just wasting my time taking class so
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: I could tell people I was going to college.
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: Oh, I didn't waste any time. I got kicked out
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: of high school in the tenth grade. So you know,
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: my mind is an open book there A lot of
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: the pages aren't filled in. And you know what, and
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: I always kind of I regret. I regret that a
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: little bit, you know, that I didn't go to college,
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: that I didn't What.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: Do you regret about it?
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: Well, just you know, I well, I number one, I
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: think i'd be smarter. I don't know what it is.
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: And I've made it just fine with what I've had,
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: you know, and you know, I've got attention deficit disorder
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: and all these things. It really kept me from doing
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: traditional school work very well. Not even sure that's real
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: attention deficit disorder.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think it's rerual.
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: You don't know, let me change your mind.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: I think there's a lot of people that aren't interested
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: in a lot of things. But when they're interested in
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: when I when they say attention deficit disorder, why are
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: those guys so good? At video games, Like why are
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: they so good at things that aren't school? I think
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: it's just you. I think the human. I think we
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: could categorize it into a bunch of different like disorders
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: and problems. But I think a lot of that is
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: a way to get you hooked on some sort of
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: pharmaceutical drug. It's going to fix whatever problem you have
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: that doesn't allow you to sit in class and listen
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: to some boring shit for fucking six hours. Right, you
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: got no problem writing jokes, Ron White, you got no
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: problem performing. So it's not like there's not a thing
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: that you can't excel at that you can. You can
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: pay attention when.
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: You're I don't know, I don't know about that. I
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: think of comedy was the answer to every problem I had. No,
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: you're just because that's what I was good at.
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: You're a comic, you're you are a comic, like that's
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: what you're supposed to do.
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: But let me give you an example.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: That's my point is that there's a lot of different
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: like functions in society. There's a lot of different roles
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: in society.
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: I think they probably tag add to people that don't
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: have it, But I know that I still have it.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: So if let's say that I was going to put
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: together a ceiling fan and hang it in my roof,
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: which I'm not, uh, I could no more do that
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: than the man in the moon without an Adderall. If
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: I take an adderall, I'll read the directions. I'll put
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: the whole thing together and hang it on. No problem
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: without it. They're at it. I've tried, you just get ted.
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: You're bored. You need excitement. You're a certain type of
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: dude who needs a certain type of stimulation, which is
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: why you like the high wire act of performing live.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: I don't think it's a disorder. I think it's a
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: superpower that I do. I think the ability, the inability
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: to pay attention to ship that's not interesting is not
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: a disorder. Is you know what's interesting and what's not?
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: You know? To this? Like, maybe I have it too,
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: because this day, when I'm talking to someone, they're saying
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: something really boring. I want to and I just can't.
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: It's like it's I just want to get out. That
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: doesn't mean I have a disorder. I don't think I
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: have a disorder, because if I'm talking to you, I
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: got no problem at all.
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: Well, let's let's let's get two ceiling fans out here.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm I'm sure I'm not that good at putting
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: together a ceiling fan either. I wouldn't enjoy it, but
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: I could do it. You just follow the directions like
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: you can follow directions. It's not hard. It's just you
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: wouldn't enjoy it. But if it was something that you
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: enjoyed doing, like learning how to swing a golf club better,
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: and you can pay attention.
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: I do pay attention to that.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: That's all I'm saying. I think there's roles in this
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: world's and different personalities fit perfectly into mathematics. Different personalities
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: put fit perfectly in philosophy, different engineering, different personalities. It's
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: like you just got to find out what what vibes
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: with the way you think. And we all think differently,
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: we all have different backgrounds, we all have different biology.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: You know, you just got to find what is the
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: thing that like syncs up with the way your mind works.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: And the problem with traditional education is there. It was
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: designed by the Rockefeller family, like the school system in
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: this country was designed to create better factory workers, right
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: and soldiers, and to get them real early. That's why
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: they want to start yet five, because they figured out
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: when you start people at twelve or thirteen, they already
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: got their ideas what the world is and how the
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: world works. And I'm not fucking shooting somebody for you,
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: you know. So what they do is they get you
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: when you're five, and when you're five, they can kind
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: of indoctrinate you, separate you from your parents most of
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: the day while your parents are at work, and so
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: that's like most of your day you have other people
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: other than your parents telling you how the world is,
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: how the world works, what's happening in you know, in
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: your life, and what you should be doing. And that's
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: kind of crazy because a lot of those people suck.
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: I remember thinking that when I was a kid, like
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: thinking how strange it is that people that I don't
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: respect and I don't enjoy are the ones that are
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: in control of communicating to me most of the day.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: I remember very clearly thinking that when I was a
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: little kid, like ten eleven years old.
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I know that. When I was a kid,
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: I used to have this this history teacher who was
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: also a pe coach. Now he had something as intriguing
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: as history to teach me. But I could not listen
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: to him talk, so he couldn't even make American history interesting.
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: But a good teacher could have. A good teacher could
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: have roped me in to what was going on and
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: the story of it and how it affects my life
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: and the lives of my parents and my grandparents, how
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: it all went down, you know, And that's an interesting story.
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: But if you're a dull, fucking assistant coach basketball and
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: now you've got a fucking one period of history and
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: you have a monotone voice and I'm just out of it,
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: I imagine what it would have been like to have
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: access to wonderful educators.
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: Right, But if you were listening to like you ever
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: listen to Dan Carlin's podcast. No, He's got this podcast
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: called Hardcore History. It's incredible, incredible, it's amazing. It's such
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: a good podcast. And this guy will like lay out
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: the events of World War One in a way that
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: you will hang on every word and you'll park your car,
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: like if you've got to go somewhere, you'll keep your
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: car running because you just want to listen to where
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: this is going.
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: So for God, like that.
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: Was teaching you history, that would have been great. I mean,
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: I think I would have been engaged.
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: He probably would have been a historian, yeah, making nothing. Yeah,
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: I mean but this he Dan Carlin's doing well. But
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: that's someone who loves what they do. And that's the difference.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: School is this weird in doctrination, fucking ritual that we
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: all have to go through and then we all have
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: to feel real bad about ourselves because we don't want
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: to be there and we're not doing good at it.
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: I felt like a fucking complete loser in school. I
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: never felt like I was that I was supposed to
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: be there. I never felt like I was smart, you know.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: But I remember, like, like, finally when I realized that
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: I was never like what I was going to school
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: for three years. When I went to college for three years,
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: when I finally was like, what am I doing? Like
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: I stopped doing this is just wasting time? Because that's
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: all I was doing. It was just completely wasting time.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: It was like a huge weight lifted off my shoulders.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: I could just go, eh, not for me.
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: Well, the one thing is I didn't waste that time,
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: you know, right there, I did the uh. But you know,
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: I think i'd have a better understanding of how the
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: world works. If I'd understood world history, you know that.
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: I mean those kinds of things. You know. I just
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: wish I was you know, I wish I had an education.
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: But what would I do with it? I have no idea.
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: I'd still do stand up, so yeah, well hopefully, and
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: I wouldn't be any fucking fun.
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: Christ imagine if you did, imagine you did go down
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: a different road. That would have sucked.
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: I was before I started doing stand up. I was
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: a wind of salesman and uh, and I was broke
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: and I had nothing, and I was unimpressive and uh,
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: my in laws bought us a garage door opener, so
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: I had a garage door opener. Now you're gonna think
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: this is really fucking weird. I used to wear that
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: garage door opener on my belt so people would think
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: I had a beeper.
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: I just people don't know about the beeper.
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: Yeah, people listening right now, Like, I have no idea
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: what that is.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: Ron and I have been through all the various stages
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: of technological inter wizardry. Yeah, but the intertwining of our
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: in our lives the way you know the first thing
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: was the beeper, like you would get a beeper like
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: My friend Johnny had one. You could page people. You
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: could page him and he would call the number.
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: Yeah, you're stopping a phone booth. Now that what a
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: phone booth is.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: And you have to like put quarters in the phone
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: and look at the beeper and do do do Hey,
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: what's up?
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: Hey?
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: What's going on where you are? And you'd have a
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: conversation with something. That's how you get ahold of them.
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: You have to page them. Joey Diaz had a page
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: of Joey Diaz had a pager deep into the like
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: maybe the two thousands, wow, not kidding, Yeah, definitely in
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: the nineties he had a pager because I remember sometimes
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: he would go a wall and I'd be paging him,
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: like where are you? Like one time we were doing
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: a gig in Jersey. We're doing Rascals in East Orange,
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: and he fucking never showed up. And I finally got
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: a hold of on the phone. He's like, I'm not
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: gonna lie to your dog. I never left Vegas. God
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: damn it, Joey. I'll never forget that conversation.
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: Vega. Not gonna lie to your dog. I never left Vegas.
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: He was just having a good time. But that's how
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: you got ahold of him, you'd have to page him.
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: That was it.
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: And then when you got then one day he got
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: a phone. And when he got a phone, you better
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: not fucking text him. If you text him, he'll yell
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: at you, like Brian Redband used to text him.
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: He stop fucking texting me.
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: And then Joey eventually got an iPhone and Brian got
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: a text from him one day. I'm like, oh, he's texting.
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: He's like, he fucking texted me. Now we'll text you.
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: But he doesn't like to text.
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: How do He's good?
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: Yeah, he's coming down soon. He's gonna be here in
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: a couple of weeks.
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: Good. Good.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: He he's becoming real soon. Right when is he here?
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: Two weeks? Okay, yeah he would.
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: He only wants to talk to you on the phone.
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: I go, why why do you? Why don't you like
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: talking to people? He goes, He goes to menseicure. I
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: want to hear your voice. I want to tell you
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: I love you.
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, I get it. I get it. He's
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: old school.
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: Yeah. He calls me every once.
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: Ye hello, yeah, say hi.
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: Yeah, he's like checking you.
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: He might be the number one dude that I just
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: talked to mostly on the phone, very few text messages.
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: Beteet me and Joey. And then I'll ask him like, hey,
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: is April twenty second good? Yeah, We're good. Okay, see you.
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: Then so is he gonna come down to do sets?
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: And he's coming down do sets. He's getting ready, he's
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: going to do a special. So he's doing a bunch
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: of shows. He's got a residency I think he's doing
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: in Philly. Is he doing in Philly? We'll find out
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: when he gets here. When he's doing a residency. He's
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: done a few of these residencies where he shows up
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: like every weekend his shows places people love him. He
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: did he opened up for Tom in Masis Square Garden.
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: Tom said when he went on stage, they went fucking
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: ape shit, they went ape ship because they didn't know
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: he was coming, you know. And then also, ladies and gentlemen,
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: please welcome Joey Diaz. He's like the snuffle up agus.
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: He's a mythical creature.
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: Right he is. He is. There's nothing like him, nothing like.
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: Him, completely unique human being.
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: You know, it was fun to watch him just stomp
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: the fuck out of the fucking room. At the store. Man,
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: he just beat that out of the crowds.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: Some of the sets that I've seen him have in
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: the O R were I think. I think it's the
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: funniest thing I've ever seen in my life. I've seen everybody.
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: I've seen everyone, great, great, great comedian. So I loved
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: Death and I'll watch him avery time they perform. But
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: I think Joey hit RPMs that nobody hit. He hit
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: these moments.
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: Oh I saw him. Wind him up, man, just wind
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: them up.
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: It's when people say, like, who's the funniest guy ever?
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: I'm like, come, man, I don't you know there's guy's
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: with great insight, Like Patrece had great insight. He was
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: really hilarious, but he also had like great insight, Joey Diah,
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: you ain't getting no insight out of Joey. He's given you.
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: He's rock em sock them robots. He's here a fuck
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: you up. He had a fuck that crowd up.
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: Oh.
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: He He used to have this bit about Terry Crews,
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: like in Terry Crew's accused some guy of grabbing his dick,
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: you know, and he had this bit about Terry Crews
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: and an underwear commercial. Oh my God, it was so funny.
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: You would you would be in the back of the
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: room just barely breath, you couldn't breathe. Everyone Like I
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: was looking around, the people are falling out of their
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: chairs like they couldn't handle it. And he was on fire,
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: just purple fucking red in the face, screaming and yelling like,
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: oh my god, oh my god, oh my god.
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: That is some of the first sets I saw you, dude,
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: at the store, and when you were doing that bit
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: where you were standing on top of the stool. Yeah,
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: fucking and I just remember just how just Dick slapped
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: those fucking crowds. I'm like, God, damn it, he's good
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: at this.
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: Fuck it's a fun job, bro, it.
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: Is the funnest Joe.
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: We're so lucky. We're so lucky in so many ways.
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: Just it doesn't make sense.
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: Yeah, when I think about a life without stand up,
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: it makes me nervous to even think about it.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: We almost did it, right, yeah, I mean when we
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: all went through that with COVID, I mean you were
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: basically saying you were done.
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: I thought it was done.
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't like it anymore.
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: It was. I was halfway through every set, I was
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: couldn't wait for it to be over. Wow. And and
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: now I go on stage and I have this whole
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: new gratitude for these crowds you know that are still
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: there waiting bigger than ever. My shows sell out faster
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: than they ever have. And part of it just because
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: there's less of them, I guess, but also it's because
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: of my friends. You know, the word gets out. You
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: know you guys didn't let me die.
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, we knew. I mean, I tell everybody, but
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: it's true, like, you're one of the reasons why we
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: decided to buy a club because you grabbed Because you
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: grabbed me when you got off stage that first time.
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: You hadn't been on stage only eight months and you
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: grabbed me by the shoulders. Whatever the fuck we have
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: to do, We're gonna keep doing this, Yeah, and we did.
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: I never forget that moment. I was like, Okay, we're
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: gonna do it. You're gonna get that fucking club open.
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: I'm like, we're gonna do it. I was already thinking
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: about doing it very seriously because I realized, like early
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: on coming here, I was like, we need a place.
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: We can't just be working out of these rock and
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: roll clubs, they're not set up right.
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: No, you know, no, there's a difference. I don't even
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: like to do I like to do set other places.
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: That's really what's wrong with the with the mother Ship.
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: It'll spoil your fucking ass. Uh, you know, with great
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: crowds and perfect acoustics and an amazing sound system and
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: and uh you know, just and then when you move
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: over to another room, which I rarely do, do another
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: set in town. I did one of the other a
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: couple of months ago, and I was like, this sucks.
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: If you guys want to find me, I'll be down
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: to Mothership. And uh but uh yeah we did it, Ron, Yeah.
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: We actually did it. You know, it's interesting when you
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: look back at those conversations we used to have, like
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: we're in the Vulcan, hanging out in the green room
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: talking about what the club's going to be. Like, yeah,
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: it seemed like a pipe dream. I know a lot
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: of people probably did think it was fake. There's a
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: lot of people in LA like Tony used to talk
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: to them all time.
- 1:25:04Speaker 4: Yeah, when's Joe opening that club. Club's never going to open.
- 1:25:08Speaker 4: It's all bullshit. You guys move down there for no
- 1:25:10Speaker 4: fucking reason. Because the thing about you taking a making
- 1:25:13Speaker 4: a choice, that's a scar.
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: Yeah. If the thing about you make it a choice
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: to go and you know, start something up, and the
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: people that are left behind, they kind of want you
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: to fail, especially the haters, they want you to So
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: Tony was like encountering that all the time. There's people
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: that just for whatever reason, they don't want other people
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: to They don'tly have people to escape the bomb that
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: they're in. You know, it's like people from the neighborhood
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: that don't want you to leave. And when you do leave, Oh, look,
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: who's bad?
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: People? For whatever reason, people really like when people fail.
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: You know, it's a gross feeling. It's a gross thing,
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: but it's super super common. Look for a joint.
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: Yeah, Jesus Christ.
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: Wrong, don't you know we're in Texas. You know, that's
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: the first thing they got to fix is make this
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: shit legal in the whole country. It's so crazy that
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: when it's stopping them, Oh, I don't know, I don't
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: understand it. I mean, it's a political beach ball. It's
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: one of those things it just gets tossed around that
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: I think is good for the establishment that runs the country.
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: It's good to keep it up in the air, like
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: I'll promise when I get an office, Gaze will be
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: able to marry yay. Right, And then they're talking about
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: there's people that want to take that off the table.
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: It's like there's a bunch of those things like Roe v. Wade,
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: that was a big one. There's a bunch of these
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: cultural beach balls that are very important issues to some people,
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: and they get exploited by politicians as a way to
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: promise you this and promise you that. But sure, but
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: it never nothing never gets fixed, nothing ever changes, right,
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: you know, Well.
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: It's changing a little. You know. I didn't think marijuana
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: would ever be legal in Oklahoma. I thought they'd be
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: behind us, you know, But where do you go there?
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: Now it's billboards on every fucking street corner, Come get
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: your weed. You know.
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: New Mexico just authorized psilocybin therapy really yep, for people
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: with depression. I think depression and anxiety is that what
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: it's for, is that where they're using it, those terms
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: which apply to sure basically everybody.
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: Right, everybody, everybody.
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: Everybody's had some depression in some anxiety. There you go
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: and I can get some mushrooms and figure your life out.
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: Well, maybe I'll give it a try.
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just the problem is federally it's still not legal,
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: and which is It's so dumb. It's so dumb, you know,
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: And I don't think it's going to change. Unfortunately. I
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: don't think. I think Trump is too busy with all
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: these other issues. I don't think he's interested in that.
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: So co sponsor said, here goes. The bill would establish
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: an Advisory for Treatment Equity Fund and Research Fund, as
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: well as removed psilocybin from the Controlled Substances Act to
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: provide to protect qualified and registered patients, clinicians, and producers,
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: according to a news release jointly a news release released
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: jointly by the Office of the Senate and the House Democrats.
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: So this is what the Democrats have over the Republicans.
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: Freedom to explore your consciousness. Republicans, for whatever reason, they
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: shy away from that. It doesn't fit with their conservative
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: mindset of what you should. It used to be, it
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: didn't fit the freedom of speech, didn't fit with their mindset.
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: And now the Republicans are all about freedom of speech
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: because they realize the consequences of it. During the last
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: election cycle. You know, when things get censored, and when
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: you have a town square that's curated by not just
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: the big tech companies but also by the federal government itself,
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: things can get weird when you're trying to access the truth.
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: You want to know what is actually going on. When
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: certain stories have actually been suppressed for the news because
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: the federal government deems the misinformation even if they turn
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: out to be true, that's not good and so for
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: because of that, the right is supporting freedom of speech,
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: which I think is fucking great. That's great, that's what
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: we all should be supporting. But we all show should
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: be supporting the freedom to expand your consciousness. And people
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: have been doing it in certain ways for thousands and
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: thousands years. And you don't know better if you haven't
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: done it, If you haven't done it yourself, and you're
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: passing judgment on people that have, you're not qualified. If
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: you if you want to go, you know, do a
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: psilocybin session, like a heavy what Terence mckinna would call
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: a heroic dose. You want to do that and then
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: talk shit? Okay, but until then, because the thing is
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: like it would include you from doing the things that
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: you're doing. Know this, okay, If you are a fucking
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: rampant capitalist and all you give a fuck about is
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: your hedge fund, and all you give a fuck about
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: is the stock market and numbers and buying this exclusive
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: that and that exclusive this and getting tickets to this
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: exclusive thing, and all you're about is like status and numbers,
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: it will fuck that up. It will fuck that whole
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: thing sideways. You won't be able to take any of
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: that seriously anymore. But that's good. It's good for you.
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: You're not supposed to be taking that seriously if you've
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: got half a billion dollars and you're still scrambling to
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: try to make more money. Like pause, you're sixty seven
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: years old. You're gonna die if you're lucky in thirty years.
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: If you're so lucky to hit ninety seven, Okay, thirty
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: years happened so quick. Man. We've been here for five ron,
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: I know we've been here for You were here for six,
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: You were here, you were paid zero. I always say
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: you were patient zero in the Austin invasion because I
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: remember calling you. It was in twenty eighteen when you
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: moved here. Seventeen. I remember calling you, going, what are
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: you doing down there? Like we missed you at the story.
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: I fucking love it down here middle of the country.
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: If I want to fly, fly anywhere real quick. People
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: are nice, food's great, and I was like, fuck, can
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: I live in Texas? I started thinking about it then,
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: But then when the pandemic hit and I knew you
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: were here. And then I had some friends in LA
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: that were also real sketched out by all of it.
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: They all wound up moving somewhere else. A couple of
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: them move well, two families that was really good friends
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: with they moved to Dallas, and then another good family
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: friend moved to Vegas, and then another one just decided
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: to stay. And we all came out here together, you know,
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: groups of friends, and when we were looking around Austin,
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: I was like, fuck, Ron White lives here. I could
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: live here. That was like one of the first things
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: I thought. I thought, if Ron lives here, at least
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: I have Ron. Yeah, I got a friend, yeah, And
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: I was like, okay, I can't do stand up right
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: now anyway. But then as soon as I moved, Tony's
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: like fuck it, I'm moving. I was like, you're moving too,
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: And then so the girl's like I'm in. I was like,
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: holy shit. And then Brian Simpson came out real early,
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: and I didn't really know Brian well at all until
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: Tom introduced me to him. Tom was like, dude, you
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: gotta meet this Guy's so funny. He's so funny. So
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: he was here early too, and then a son and
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: Derek both moved out here early, and I'm like, oh shit,
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: we got something going on. And then Tim Dillon bought
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: a house out of here. I was like, oh my goodness,
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: what is happening. This is crazy. And then Duncan was like, man,
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: fucking North Carolina, I don't know, like, come to Texas, motherfucker.
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: And then all of a sudden, Duncan's out here like
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: holy shit, holy shit, this is crazy. I'm like, all right,
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: we're up and running. And by the time we decided
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: to make that club fuck, we had like ten great
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: guys living here. Yeah, twelve and more were coming and
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: they're still we're coming. Yeah, Dylan, Tony, different guys from
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: the store that used to work at the store all
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: the time.
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: Yeah. I roped Tony in man. I I'm like, we
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: need Tony here my fucking condo and let him use
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: one of my range rovers to go out to Dallas.
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: Yeah I live here for a week. I don't know
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: where I was, but uh yeah, you spend a week here,
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: you'll go, ah, this is doable.
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: Well, we all were so excited because it felt like
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: we were doing something different. Yeah, you know, I felt
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: like we were doing something different. I've always had this
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: fuck it part of me. I was like, fuck it,
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: let's go. I'm you.
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: That you do. You're impetuous as fuck. I like it
- 1:33:38Speaker 2: thro the time you told me you were gonna I'm
- 1:33:41Speaker 2: gonna move there, you had a house like two days later,
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: I'm like, god, damn, this guy moves when he moves.
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: Yeah, my kids helped a lot because they really wanted
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: to move.
- 1:33:51Speaker 2: That sweet ass place on the lake. Yeah that's good,
- 1:33:54Speaker 2: that's good living over there.
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: It's also like when we came here, no one had
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: masks on and everybody was acting normal. Yeah, and so
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: my kids like, what's going on, Like, how come everyone's
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: normal here? We should live here, you know. And then
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: it just it just happened. And then all of a sudden,
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: the store is closed. So I get all the employees
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: and then I was like, look, I'll pay you now.
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: You don't have to work, just hang out. Yeah, let's
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: we're gonna do something special.
- 1:34:21Speaker 2: That was more money than you were thinking it was.
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: But money is fun.
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: Couponts, yeah, fun tickets, That's right, that's what it's supposed
- 1:34:29Speaker 2: to be.
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: You're not not having fun and you have money, you're
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: doing something wrong because you should be trying to have fun.
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: And sometimes some things you have to pay for in
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: order to have fun. A lot of fun is free,
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: but there's a lot of fun where you go like, oh,
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: we got to buy a building, we have to hire
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: an architect, we have to pay a construction crew, we
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: have to you know, we have to do a lot
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: of things. But that's the way to do it. That's
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: what you're supposed to do, and that I was the
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: person who was able to do it because the universe
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: had to say I did that. This thing wanted to
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: get made, and we hit every green light and then
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: I was like, Okay, well, clearly this is the thing
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: I'm supposed to do this. You know, I know it
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: sounds crazy, but let's go, you know. But the whole
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: thing was crazy, Like is in the middle of the
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: biggest deal I'd ever done ever in my whole life
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: Spotify this crazy thing. I was like, the show was
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: already like the.
- 1:35:24Speaker 2: Number one.
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: Deal with bananas bananas. But I was also like, okay,
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: well what should you know? You have to figure out
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: what you're going to do, like you have to be
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: you can't be at the whim of all these other
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: people's ideas and expectations, like what do you want to do.
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: It's like, I want to get the fuck out of La,
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: so let's do it. So I moved in the middle
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: of everything. So this is giant deal I have. And
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: all of a sudden, they're like, where are you going?
- 1:35:53Speaker 2: I'm going to Texas?
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: Like don't go to text? This is crazy, Like are
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: you sure you won't be able to get guess I'm like, look,
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: I'm flying guests in three times a week anyway, Right,
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: I was already flying people in from New Mexico and
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: New York.
- 1:36:07Speaker 2: And New York's closer than you know. It's a great spot, really.
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: Right, It's not like a six hour flight. That's six
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: hour flight across the whole country is a pain in
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: the ass that you know, the people were worn out
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: by the time they got there, so you know they
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: had to like have a night to rest and relax
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: and rehydrate, and and then the next day maybe you know,
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: still they're probably not one hundred percent. You know, this
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: is like three hours three hour flight, ain't shit, It's
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: a three hour flight everywhere.
- 1:36:32Speaker 2: Yeah, it's so easy. It's a great spot.
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: Yeah. But it's also like I feel like sometimes the
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: universe calls you in a way and tells you just
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: like it gives you a feeling. And I think I
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: ideas are like a life form. I really do. I
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: think it's like an unexplored life form. I think that's
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: why the concept of the muse is so enticing to people,
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: because there's something real to it, Like when you just
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: you're just gonna sit there and write, and you say,
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: it doesn't always come, like sometimes you get nothing, but
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: sometimes because you sat there, you'll have some of the
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: best lines you've ever written. Because I think they're like
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: life forms that you have to call into your life.
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: And I think sometimes these life forms, these ideas, they
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: just exist in the ether, and by circumstance they like
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: kind of gel together and become more more valid and
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: more alive, and then they enter into your mind. And
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: if you're ready to receive these ideas, you have to
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: act on them, especially if they're positive. I'm not saying,
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: you know, go fuck up up the Capitol building because
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: you've had an idea. I mean positive ideas, not vengeful.
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: Like if you have a good a good soul, if
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: your golden life is a positive thing, these ideas will
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: come to you and you're supposed to if you can,
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: you're supposed to act on them. And I felt like, wow,
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: what are you unique opportunity. I have to be able
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: to do this. I shouldn't be scared because it's daunting
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: and it's expensive, and it's like what are you doing?
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: Like you just just do it, just do what you do.
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: You know, here's one thing that I believe. I believe
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: that things disguise themselves and we call them coincidences, but
- 1:38:14Speaker 2: there really are no coincidences. And if you'll look for
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: things that look like coincidences, you could follow that line
- 1:38:20Speaker 2: and go somewhere with it. Yeah, and uh, and I
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: feel like that that's what happened whenever, you know, with
- 1:38:27Speaker 2: the mass exodus and people started coming to comedy to
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: make this the best comedy scene in the world. Yeah, uh,
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: you know, those things fell into place because that's what
- 1:38:37Speaker 2: was supposed to happen, and uh, and I think it
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: all happened because of me in that I needed it
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: the worst. I needed this more than anybody else did.
- 1:38:48Speaker 2: And I feel like I was able to cash in
- 1:38:51Speaker 2: all my fucking karma or whatever and draw it all
- 1:38:55Speaker 2: into me a little bit because I needed it and
- 1:38:58Speaker 2: that and so you know.
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: Well it makes sense, like it's certainly a huge factor, right,
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: because if you didn't inspire me to even think about Austin,
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: I wouldn't have And I wouldn't have moved here if
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: you weren't here. I don't think maybe I would have.
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: But it helped a lot that you were here. I
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: was like, this makes it so much easier than I
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: know Ron's here, because it was weird times then, man,
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: everything was even going to a restaurant, you felt like
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: you were a rebel, like it felt weird. It felt
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: weird to not be scared like you like you wanted
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: to hide the fact that you weren't scared, that you
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: wanted to just go out. It was a strange, strange,
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: strange time that I think even now we look back
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: on and we can't Like I watched a UFC fight
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: the other day, an older fight and all the cornermen
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: had masks on them, Like this is the craziest thing.
- 1:39:45Speaker 2: That stamp right there, you know, it's bizarre.
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: It was a fight that took place in an arena
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: in Florida with no crowd, no crowd, It was justin
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: Gaechee versus Tony Ferg. It was one of the first
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: fights we did. Back It was like, and you were there,
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: uh huh yeah. And I was watching the fight the
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: other day and I was looking at the cornerman and
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: they all had masks on. I was like, what a
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: weird fucking time, What a weird I remember, like people
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: would get upset if I didn't wear a mask. Backstage,
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: I'm like, what are we doing? What is this for?
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: Like this is crazy. These guys are beating the fuck
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: out of each other and sweating on each other, you know,
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: and all of us tested negative. That's how we got
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: through here. Like has someone been magically gonna get COVID
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: while we're all wandering around together? Don't we all test negative?
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: So you had to get in this room. They had
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: to be able to test you. Everybody get tested those
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: that you did exactly. So we're all in this room.
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: Take that fucking stupid mask off. But even the shows
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: we did with Chappelle outside that people were supposed to
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: wear masks outside outside, everyone's tested. Is this a mystery,
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: magical disease that we're encountering, that it's like demons hiding
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: in the woods.
- 1:40:59Speaker 2: Well but it But it was too at one time,
- 1:41:03Speaker 2: wasn't it. You know? I lost Vic Henley to that
- 1:41:06Speaker 2: disease in New York City early on.
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: But Vic was not a healthy guy. What the disease
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: is exposed metabolic health problems, didn't.
- 1:41:17Speaker 2: I'll admit that. I mean, he was a raging alcoholic
- 1:41:20Speaker 2: and he knew it, and I knew he was really
- 1:41:22Speaker 2: considering making some changes in his life. You know, he
- 1:41:26Speaker 2: was talking to me about and then boom, you know, gone.
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: So so in that sense, yes, it was, but it
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: wasn't in the sense where all these healthy people who
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: have been tested are. That's especially and the fighters, like
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: what we would have to do is if one of
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: the cornermen got COVID, even if the fighter didn't have COVID,
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: the fighter was pulled from the card. So one of
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: the cornerman tests positive for COVID because the fighter had
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: been around him, even if he's negative. We treated it
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: different than we treat did anything ever, And especially for
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: the fighters, it had like it was not gonna have
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: an effect on them unless they did. There's one guy
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: did have an effect on he got COVID really really bad.
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: But it's because they kept training. These guys kept training
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: while they had COVID. They never a lot of these guys,
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: they don't give a fuck. They have the flu. Who
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: cares they're showing up at the gym. It's part of
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: being an animal. It's like you'll show up sick and
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: you'll train through a city, but you shouldn't do that.
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: You're just breaking your immune system down further, and especially
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: if you're in camp. So being a camp for a
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: fighter is very different than regular working out. Being a
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: camp for a fighter is you are basically redlining your body,
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: trying to get it to recover, like trying to get
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: it to keep pace so you can get to a
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: super human level. That's only achievable after like a twelve
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: week camp, and you could only hold on to it
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: for a couple of weeks. They got it. They know
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: when you're peking sometimes and the back of fight are off,
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: they go, we're done today, we'll done, We're done today.
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: You're peaking too early. You're peaking too early. You don't
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: want to overdo it, so you want to back off
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: your training when you're feeling absolutely perfect and get yourself
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: just slow down where we're a little too soon. Like
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: a really good trainer knows when you're peaking, but you
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: can't maintain it forever. It's really only for That's why
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: it's so crazy that a lot of these guys, they'll
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: accept a fight on like ten days. Notice, Like that's nuts,
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: that's nuts. Like you need you need to be peaking.
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: You need to be like you're gonna fight in a
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: fucking cage. And I know you're doing this as a
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: financial decision. But that's why John Jones is the smartest.
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: John Jones never did that. They changed opponents. Fuck you
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: fights off, John Jones, even guys like Chail Son and
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: who eventually stomped in the first round, like absolutely destroy it.
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: It was not even remotely competitive. It was an annihilation.
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: It would have been an annihilation three hundred and sixty
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: five days year for decades. It wouldn't have mattered how
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: good John Jones is and his greatest chill son in
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: is John Jones was the bigger man Chail had fought
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: at one hundred and eighty five pounds. John was a
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: big two o five and he was the most talented
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: guy that ever fought in the sport. And he's gonna
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: win every time. But when they changed the opponent, they
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: try to make a chill son and he's like, nope, nope,
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: we do things the right way. I go through a
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: full camp. That's it. Fights off everybody like ah, because
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: they want you to play ball, get it, we need
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: a new guy. But look to this day, everybody says
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: he's the goat, Well why is he the goat? Because
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: he did everything the right way he knew, especially when
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: he wasn't partying, he did everything the wrong way too.
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: I mean he did a lot of partying and still
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: beat the fuck out of everybody because he was that good,
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: because he was that talented. One of the craziest things
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: he ever said Daniel Cormier when they were having a rematch.
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: They were talking shit in the press conference and Daniel
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: tor Mee said something to John John goes, I beat
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: you when I was on coke. It is the craziest
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: statement because he says, and you're like, oh shit, And
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: it's true, it's true, that's how good John was. But
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: if you try to change opponents, John's like, huh. Try
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: to call John Jones in for a late notice fight
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: on five days notice, They'll tell you go fuck yourself,
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: like nope, I'll rather hang out at home my dog,
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: like he's not doing it, like you gotta. So these guys,
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: when they're peaking, they're vulnerable. They get sick a lot,
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: especially when they're cutting weight, because you're redlining your body
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: and you can overdo it, and guys overdo it all
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: the time. They overtrain, they just break themselves down when
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: they just they haven't they've kept too much pace and
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: not enough recovery, and they're declining and declining and decline.
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: They show up at the gym, they have no energy.
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: They're like fuck. And if you get a guy to
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: the fight that's overtrained, it's horrible. It's horrible to watch.
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: I've seen it many times. The guys just can't recover.
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: They're too tired. They overdid it, they were too tough
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: for their own good. So one of those guys got COVID.
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: This guy Hamsa Chamaya and this motherfucker a psychopath. He's
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: a savage, like one of the most savage guys that's
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: ever fought in the sport. And he just kept training,
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: just kept training, and he did this. Motherfucker trains like
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: eight hours a day. He trains like a wolverine. He's
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: an animal. And he was training with COVID and he
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: kept getting real sick, wound up, getting hospitalized, coughing up, blood,
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: gets out, goes right back to it, same thing, hospitalized again.
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: He got hospitalized like twice because he wouldn't stop training
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: because he's that psychotic. But other than him, regular athletes,
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: they get it. They just take a few days off, right.
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: Daniel Cormier had COVID, trained through it and won the title,
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: won the heavyweight title training through COVID in his camp.
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: He was sick during camp and kept training and everybody
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: was like, let's just keep.
- 1:46:49Speaker 2: It and get off the couch the whole time I
- 1:46:52Speaker 2: had COVID.
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: So just imagine those level of athletes and we're worried
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: about it so much that everybody has to wear a mask, like,
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: shut the f up, this is nuts. So all that
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: had to happen too where we were the reckless ones,
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: We were the ones that like, I don't I'm not
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: buying this. I'm going to live my life. I'm going
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: to Texas. And there was a lot of people that
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: were really mad at They're like, what are you doing?
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: You're not scared? What are you doing? You're doing shows in.
- 1:47:18Speaker 2: Doors, You're killing people.
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: Blood is on your hands. The mess of people that
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: were just all caught up in this syop, they were
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: just the you know, and it was great, not good really,
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: but it was great in that it exposed these fragile thinkers,
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: so many fragile mines. They couldn't couldn't see the forest
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: for the trees. They just they couldn't see it. And
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: when we all came out here and we said, we
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: see it, like this is bullshit. Yeah, yeah, it'll make
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: you sick. Yeah, you'll have to be at home for
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: a week. Yeah, get get vitamin dribs. You'll be all right, Like, yeah,
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: this is what we're dealing with for real. And a
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: lot of people agreed. And then it turns out we
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: were right. It turns out we were right. At the
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: end of the day. We were correct. We were correct
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: to want to live our lives. We all went back
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: to livinghood too soon, says, who says who the fucking
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: government that's been lying to you about this disease?
- 1:48:26Speaker 2: Back on it and and and realize it. Then it happened,
- 1:48:30Speaker 2: You know that it really fucking happened, that we were
- 1:48:32Speaker 2: locked up, locked down.
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: It's not good because it's it's like when you find
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: out your friend's a bitch and then you have to
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: count on them again in the future. You're like, dude,
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: don't fall apart on me here right, show up, Like,
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: don't get scared. You need I need help. You find
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: out your friend falls apart under pressure, You're like, oh great,
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: why are you crying? Mike? What are we doing? Don't cry?
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: This is crazy, Liken. Count on Mike because Mike falls
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: apart when chick gets hot. And this is how it feels.
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: Feels like a good percentage of the country. You know,
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: a joke from my last special, but I really feel
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: this way. We lost a lot of people during COVID,
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: and most of them are still alive. That I've wrote
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: that line thinking about specific friends, it's like, what did
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: you think was going on? What did you think was
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: going on? Yeah, it's a disease, but since when have
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: you changed your entire fucking life for years for a disease.
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: This is nuts, since one of you listened to the
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: entire government tell you can't have outdoor dining because of
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: a disease, like a disease you've already had, You've already
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: gotten through it, and this they're still telling you this.
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: And we're a year and a half into this fucking thing.
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: And so we were right, and so so many people
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: because we were right, so many people also came. And
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: that's the beautiful thing. It's like people speak with their actions,
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: and the people that are wheeling to make a leap
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: like that, those are the ones you want there. Those
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: are the ones like, we got the best of the best,
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: we got the most fuck you of the fuck you people.
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: Those comedians are fuck you people. They are something happens
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: in society like hey man, fuck you.
- 1:50:15Speaker 2: Right, you know? Or eat a Steamen bola fuck.
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: Eat a Stephen bowl the fuck no matter what it is,
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: you know. And uh, the world needs that. I need that,
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: I need that, I need you here, I need Tony,
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: I need I need people like that the same way
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: that you did. So we all sort of collectively manifested
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: it together. But without you, we wouldn't be here.
- 1:50:37Speaker 2: Yeah, so you guys come on down to Austin, Texas
- 1:50:40Speaker 2: and check out the mother Ship and see how much
- 1:50:42Speaker 2: fun we're having. If you don't believe it, if you like,
- 1:50:44Speaker 2: we're making this ship up because of you.
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: I also almost bought the cult house.
- 1:50:48Speaker 2: Yeah right, that would have been you know what made
- 1:50:51Speaker 2: it happen. People say, yeah he did. That would have
- 1:50:54Speaker 2: been horrible. It wouldn't have been horrible.
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: It would have been amazing because it was a cool place.
- 1:50:58Speaker 2: And I, you know, I it was.
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: It would have been amazing.
- 1:51:02Speaker 2: It would have been amazing.
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: It would have been amazing. It's an amazing spot, and
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: it's hilarious that a cult used to own. I feel
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: terrible for all the people that were roped into building
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: it and all the people that got butt.
- 1:51:13Speaker 2: You were doing that piece that was so funny and
- 1:51:15Speaker 2: you quit doing it. You didn't do that in your
- 1:51:16Speaker 2: special No, I didn't know that was so funny.
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a true story.
- 1:51:20Speaker 2: I remember I gave you that line that it's okay
- 1:51:23Speaker 2: to hypnotize people and butt fuck them because it's the
- 1:51:26Speaker 2: falls under the category of I talked him into it.
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it's basically the same thing that's.
- 1:51:31Speaker 2: Not illegal at all. I talked to the guy and
- 1:51:33Speaker 2: to let me fuck him in the ass. It's kind
- 1:51:35Speaker 2: of technically not illegal with a watch going back and forth.
- 1:51:40Speaker 2: That's not illegal, that's not direct.
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: The guy was a hypnotist and a gay porn star,
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: like what a combo? Right, and then when they found
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: the gay porn like the do you watch the documentary? Right?
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: The documentary is incredible, but Ron for the people at all,
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: Ron had performed at this So you performed at that, Budge,
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: how fucking love that theater? You should buy that place?
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: And then it was for sales like, oh, we're in right,
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: and then Adam Egot is what he goes? Have you
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: seen that documentary? It's on that cult. I'm like, oh no,
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: oh no, Ron White, what have you done? What have
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: you done? I watched The Doctor Men.
- 1:52:15Speaker 2: And I don't think I even realized at that time
- 1:52:17Speaker 2: that that's what that building was. I don't think I
- 1:52:20Speaker 2: knew that it was a cult. Yeah building. Whenever I
- 1:52:23Speaker 2: first took it.
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: Maybe seen the videos of the guy dancing around.
- 1:52:28Speaker 2: That was years ago, I mean years and years ago.
- 1:52:31Speaker 2: So I knew about that anyway, but I didn't realize
- 1:52:34Speaker 2: that that was the building, or.
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: Maybe maybe those are the same people wearing masks in
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: their cars. You know what I'm saying. It's like that's
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: why you can start a cult. If you just get
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: everybody who wears a mask in their car, you could
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: rope those motherfuckers and doing almost anything. And that's how
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: cults get started.
- 1:52:50Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, No, people are looking looking for leadership. Well
- 1:52:53Speaker 2: they're also looking for you're really dumb, Like.
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: Think about the positive aspects of the mothership, right, like
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: we're all having a good time with this what everybody
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: really wants. But what if the only way you can
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: get that is to believe Baba kanesh over. There's like
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: who changed his name and now he wears wooden beads
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: and he sits in the lotus position, and everybody's got
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: to suck his dick, Like I just wanted to do
- 1:53:14Speaker 1: yoga and hang out with everybody. Why I gotta suck
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: this guy's dick? This is they kept.
- 1:53:18Speaker 2: Sucking his dick, and you know what, they're sucking his
- 1:53:20Speaker 2: dick somewhere else now in Hawaii. Still get his dick sucked.
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: Some guys are just really good at at like suck.
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: It's like the thing where you need to be on
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: acid to understand the grateful dead. It's like you need
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: to be at the special frame of mind with a
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: special nine voult brain where you can get talked into
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: a cult like that.
- 1:53:44Speaker 2: But it happens every day, every day, every.
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: Day, every day, all throughout the country. You know, I
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: was talking to Marc Andreessen about this venture capitalist guys,
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: brilliant guy, and he was telling me that there's a
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: ton of active cults right now in California. Oh yeah,
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: that are functioning. Like you only hear about the ones
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: that wind up getting in shootouts with the Feds. There's
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: a bunch of them that actually function somehow or another.
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: They keep it together. You know, people leave, they tell
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: the horror stories, and some people join.
- 1:54:13Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: But like Wild Wild Country is a great example that
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: Netflix documentary. Yeah, the crazy thing is in the beginning,
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: it looks so fun.
- 1:54:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it looked completely fucking doable, so doable, and our
- 1:54:26Speaker 2: leaders got really nice fucking cars. Look, yeah, can he
- 1:54:30Speaker 2: be wrong?
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: He can't be wrong. He's had twenty rolls Royces. There's
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: so many of them. It's it's like, whatever the way
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: that we evolved in tribal society to listen to the chief.
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: We all have this like strange desire to either be
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: the chief or listen to the chief. Sure, you know,
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: either be the alpha or listen to the alpha. And
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: someone can pretend to be the chief and they can
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: partend to be the chief with magical insight. And you
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: know what, the most fucked up thing about that documentary
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: is thing that still fucks with my head is that
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: that guy would do these things, this thing to these
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: people called the Knowing, where he would and they would
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: orgas them, they would just have like they literally meet God.
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: To this day, they all say that it was real
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: that that thing actually did happen, like the power of suggestion,
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: the fact that he kept it from them for so long,
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: and then the one day or this is your coming
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: of age ceremony, this is the one day you're going
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: to get the Knowing, and he would put his hands
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: on them and they would really experience something, and they
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: said it was like they were they were experiencing God
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: like they it was the most bliss they had ever
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: felt in their life, and that they never felt it again.
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: So there the circumstances and the ritual activated this innate
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: part of our consciousness that's always there. This ability to
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: talk to God, the ability to communicate with God, which
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: is probably whatever religion is trying to do. It's all
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: like this whisper of the truth that's out there in
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: the ether, and everybody knows that it's out there. There's
- 1:56:08Speaker 1: something there. I just have to figure out how to
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: And this guy's crazy gay porn star hypnotist butt fucking
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: all these dudes. Still, even this guy was able to
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: touch these people and they were able to access that
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: part of their brain and they were in. They were in.
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: They were like, oh we're in, man, I'm following this
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: guy everywhere. This guy really is like connected to God.
- 1:56:33Speaker 2: Well, you know, I I think that that that prayer
- 1:56:40Speaker 2: I storry with that just with prayer is a physical thing,
- 1:56:45Speaker 2: not a spiritual thing. And that's why it works for anybody.
- 1:56:48Speaker 2: You know. I believe it's a way to channel energy
- 1:56:51Speaker 2: and it changes the way you feel. But it doesn't
- 1:56:53Speaker 2: matter what you're praying too. That it's a physical transfers
- 1:56:56Speaker 2: of injury, right, not a spiritual thing. And because anybody
- 1:57:03Speaker 2: can do it. And also hypnosis is so powerful when
- 1:57:07Speaker 2: it's done correctly. And I know that because I've experienced
- 1:57:10Speaker 2: hypnosis done well, and so boy, if you had both
- 1:57:14Speaker 2: of those things, you know, you could have power over
- 1:57:17Speaker 2: anybody that's stupid enough.
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the problem. That was what they did during
- 1:57:22Speaker 1: the Manson family mk ultra during those days. This part
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: of the Chaos book by Tom O'Neill, it's about the
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: Manson family, excuse me, the Manson family murders. And one
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: of the things that they went into is the fact
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: that this guy who worked for the CIA at the
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: time was part of mk ULTU. His name is Jolly West,
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: and Jolly West is this figure all throughout the counterculture
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: resistance movement that the federal government had sort of concocted,
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: and part of what he was doing was teaching people
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: how to manipulate people with LSD and he was teaching
- 1:57:59Speaker 1: Charlie Mannon and in jail, like this guy visited Manson
- 1:58:02Speaker 1: in jail. Then Manson would get out of jail, and
- 1:58:05Speaker 1: Manson would get in trouble, get arrested, and then get
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: released and the sheriffs all say, it's over my pay grade.
- 1:58:12Speaker 1: They were all told to let him go. And so
- 1:58:15Speaker 1: he was implicated in murders and violent crimes and they
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: all always let him go. They always had to let
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: him go, and he was getting acid, and he had
- 1:58:22Speaker 1: sophisticated methods of manipulating minds. It wasn't as simple as like,
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: this is a charismatic dude and they all want to
- 1:58:29Speaker 1: cut a baby out of fucking Sharon Tate's stomach. No,
- 1:58:33Speaker 1: it was way crazier than that. It was sophisticated mind
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: control from MK Ultra, and they wanted to see if
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: they could get people to become homicidal maniacs. And they
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: were right, they could. They knew how to do it,
- 1:58:45Speaker 1: they used it, and they got Manson to do it,
- 1:58:48Speaker 1: and it threw water on this whole anti war hippie movement,
- 1:58:52Speaker 1: all that peace love shit whosh. Now hippies are murderers.
- 1:58:57Speaker 1: Now hippies are Charles Manson. Now you know you're kid
- 1:59:00Speaker 1: wants to just like fucking paint flowers and show up
- 1:59:05Speaker 1: in grateful dead shows. Now your kid's a murderer. Your
- 1:59:07Speaker 1: kids are fucking all the hippies are suspects. Now it worked.
- 1:59:13Speaker 1: It was a fascinating thing they did, Like the way
- 1:59:16Speaker 1: they threw water on this movement that was happening like
- 1:59:23Speaker 1: in nineteen seventy there's just threw it down and put
- 1:59:27Speaker 1: schedule one on everything. If the Nixon administration hadn't done
- 1:59:31Speaker 1: that in nineteen seventy, who knows what the world looks
- 1:59:34Speaker 1: like today, Like who knows? Who knows if you can
- 1:59:37Speaker 1: get iebgain in ayahuasca in America? If psilocybin had stayed legal,
- 1:59:42Speaker 1: it was made illegal in nineteen seventy, all that stuff
- 1:59:46Speaker 1: seventy Yep, all that stuff became scheduled one in nineteen seventy.
- 1:59:50Speaker 1: Marijuana was always illegal. It was illegal from like the
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: nineteen thirties, and that was because it was a textile,
- 1:59:56Speaker 1: and that was because it was a commodity. It had
- 1:59:59Speaker 1: almost no thing to do with the drug itself. They
- 2:00:02Speaker 1: were trying to outlaw hemp. They were worried because they
- 2:00:05Speaker 1: had come out with a new way to process hemp fiber.
- 2:00:09Speaker 1: It's called a decordicator. They invented this thing. Is big
- 2:00:12Speaker 1: thing Popular Science magazine. Hemp the new billion dollar crop.
- 2:00:17Speaker 1: It was like they were saying, we're all gonna use
- 2:00:20Speaker 1: hemp now because now there's an effective way to process
- 2:00:22Speaker 1: the fibers, and they're superior to everything else. Makes superior paper,
- 2:00:26Speaker 1: superior cloth, superior everything, every much much much much better plant,
- 2:00:31Speaker 1: and William randolf First was like fuck that. So William
- 2:00:36Speaker 1: randoff Hurst starts publishing stories in his newspapers about how
- 2:00:40Speaker 1: Blacks and Mexicans are taking this new drug called marijuana.
- 2:00:45Speaker 1: They invented the name. It was a wild Mexican tobacco.
- 2:00:49Speaker 1: That's what marijuana used to be. It was slang for
- 2:00:52Speaker 1: a wild Mexican tobacco. So they put that name on cannabis,
- 2:00:56Speaker 1: something that people had had forever. People have been smoking
- 2:00:58Speaker 1: it forever. It was literally the origin of the term canvas.
- 2:01:04Speaker 2: Comes from cannabis.
- 2:01:05Speaker 1: Yes, it's all hemp. Well, if you go like the
- 2:01:08Speaker 1: Mona Lisa, those are all painted on hemp. The first
- 2:01:10Speaker 1: draft of the Declaration of Independence was written on hemp.
- 2:01:14Speaker 1: Hemp was a far superior paper. It's really difficult to tear.
- 2:01:18Speaker 1: It's a crazy fiber.
- 2:01:19Speaker 2: Hey, can we put this on pause a second?
- 2:01:22Speaker 1: H you get a piss?
- 2:01:24Speaker 2: Can we put it on pasporus second?
- 2:01:25Speaker 1: Yeah? Okay, So ladies and gentlemen, Ron White had a
- 2:01:30Speaker 1: moment there where the cold came back, the sickness came back,
- 2:01:34Speaker 1: and yeah.
- 2:01:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a moment. That was a moment. I
- 2:01:40Speaker 2: don't know what that was well, I.
- 2:01:41Speaker 1: Was over here blimbing about the illegalization of weed and
- 2:01:46Speaker 1: how crazy it is, and we were talking about ayahuasca
- 2:01:48Speaker 1: and all these things, and all of a sudden, you
- 2:01:50Speaker 1: just got a little pale.
- 2:01:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I got a little pale and start a sweating.
- 2:01:53Speaker 2: I don't know what it is. I just got a
- 2:01:55Speaker 2: little sick. I feel a little better now I've had
- 2:01:57Speaker 2: a nice yack.
- 2:01:58Speaker 1: And this is a how long has this sickness been
- 2:02:03Speaker 1: with you?
- 2:02:04Speaker 2: I felt fine all day? I felt fine yesterday, I
- 2:02:07Speaker 2: played golf. I had Uh you.
- 2:02:09Speaker 1: Know, has this happened before though? It just comes on
- 2:02:11Speaker 1: out of nowhere.
- 2:02:13Speaker 2: No, this just be the first time.
- 2:02:14Speaker 1: So maybe it's like a maybe it's another thing, a
- 2:02:17Speaker 1: food poisoning thing or something.
- 2:02:18Speaker 2: Fuck. I don't know. I don't know what it is. Wow.
- 2:02:22Speaker 1: And you've had a couple ivs, right, I had it.
- 2:02:24Speaker 2: Too last week. And I'll go home and get another one. Yeah,
- 2:02:29Speaker 2: I'm sure I'll be fine and just a little bit.
- 2:02:31Speaker 2: Damn sure, it'll be cool. Damn. And you played golf, Yeah,
- 2:02:37Speaker 2: played golf with my son, had a great time.
- 2:02:41Speaker 1: It's a nice day to play golf too.
- 2:02:44Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 2:02:45Speaker 1: One of the things that we have out here in
- 2:02:47Speaker 1: Texas is real weather. I love it when it rains
- 2:02:50Speaker 1: and everything's so green and pretty, and.
- 2:02:53Speaker 2: You need to go down to Costa Rica.
- 2:02:54Speaker 1: I do need to go down to Costa Rica.
- 2:02:56Speaker 2: That stay in your neighbor's place. It's the sweetest thing
- 2:03:02Speaker 2: that I've ever seen. Yeah, my big pet peeve is
- 2:03:06Speaker 2: when people say it's the best thing you've ever seen,
- 2:03:08Speaker 2: Like the best thing you've ever seen. But I've seen
- 2:03:11Speaker 2: some ship, you.
- 2:03:12Speaker 1: Know, some ship exactly, like what are you saying? I've
- 2:03:17Speaker 1: seen so many things.
- 2:03:18Speaker 2: But but that place down there that you know that
- 2:03:21Speaker 2: it's another drift wood or like you know, kind of
- 2:03:23Speaker 2: like drifting.
- 2:03:24Speaker 1: But yeah, it is fucking gorgeous. I heard that drift
- 2:03:28Speaker 1: wood place is amazing place out here.
- 2:03:30Speaker 2: It's the best, man, It's so pretty right now because
- 2:03:33Speaker 2: all the you know, they blow in a bunch of
- 2:03:34Speaker 2: wildflowers all over it, and it's just fucking gorgeous. It's
- 2:03:38Speaker 2: a great golf course.
- 2:03:39Speaker 1: I almost wish I played golf.
- 2:03:41Speaker 2: It's a waste of time and money you don't have.
- 2:03:45Speaker 2: You don't, I know, you don't have time.
- 2:03:46Speaker 1: So yeah, I would love it, I'm sure. But so
- 2:03:53Speaker 1: we should probably wrap us up because you're not feeling
- 2:03:55Speaker 1: that good?
- 2:03:56Speaker 2: Right, I feel a little better, right, Yeah, I'm a little.
- 2:04:00Speaker 1: Bit yeah, all right, Well it's a it's just uh,
- 2:04:06Speaker 1: when swing gets sick like that, you don't know what
- 2:04:07Speaker 1: to do, Like.
- 2:04:08Speaker 2: Fuck, yeah, I don't know what to do, but I
- 2:04:10Speaker 2: swear I feel better. I feel I don't feel hot anymore.
- 2:04:13Speaker 2: And it's so weird, so weird, like what is that
- 2:04:18Speaker 2: soon as you get something out of my stomach real quick,
- 2:04:20Speaker 2: I think crazy the quickest way to do it.
- 2:04:23Speaker 1: It's just crazy that something's been like you know, you
- 2:04:25Speaker 1: have a little invader in your body. Yeah, you're fighting off.
- 2:04:29Speaker 1: That's what we're doing all the time, fighting off these invaders.
- 2:04:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm still coming to the club tonight. I'm gonna
- 2:04:34Speaker 2: I'm gonna get a drip and come do a set.
- 2:04:38Speaker 1: Of course, it would be fun tonight. It's Cam Patterson
- 2:04:41Speaker 1: show tonight.
- 2:04:41Speaker 2: Oh good good mm hmm.
- 2:04:44Speaker 1: What's an exciting time?
- 2:04:46Speaker 2: Really is?
- 2:04:47Speaker 1: And the world is so chaotic right now, which is
- 2:04:49Speaker 1: great for comedy. Whenever the world's fucked up, the comedy
- 2:04:52Speaker 1: is its best. Gaza palest On, Ah, it's fucking Ukraine
- 2:04:59Speaker 1: and the tariffs lie. It's great to come out and
- 2:05:04Speaker 1: do some comedy.
- 2:05:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm you know what I say, and I stay away.
- 2:05:08Speaker 2: I stay away from all of it good and of
- 2:05:11Speaker 2: that subject matter, any politics or anything like that. And
- 2:05:15Speaker 2: the reason is, uh, you know, I know my I
- 2:05:20Speaker 2: know my crowd. I know what they want and and
- 2:05:22Speaker 2: they want to laugh really hard and they want to
- 2:05:25Speaker 2: and and I think that I've always taken the position
- 2:05:28Speaker 2: is I'm just not going to bring that into it.
- 2:05:30Speaker 2: I'm gonna let us do something else. And I love
- 2:05:32Speaker 2: it when other people do that are really good at it,
- 2:05:34Speaker 2: and you know that it's fun to watch and it's
- 2:05:37Speaker 2: entertaining as fuck. But I just decided a long time
- 2:05:40Speaker 2: ago that I'm just gonna I'm just gonna go out
- 2:05:42Speaker 2: there and make them laugh as hard as I can
- 2:05:44Speaker 2: make them laugh and let them have some time off
- 2:05:46Speaker 2: from tragedy or whatever, and and and and I'm not
- 2:05:51Speaker 2: that good at it anyway. So you know it's I've
- 2:05:54Speaker 2: never been a political commentator, right, so why be one now?
- 2:05:57Speaker 2: And and uh, well, the.
- 2:05:59Speaker 1: Problem with politics is you're gonna alienate the crowd.
- 2:06:03Speaker 2: Dead split, yeah, dead split.
- 2:06:05Speaker 1: And if you're one of those people that takes a
- 2:06:07Speaker 1: stand on stage like okay, great, right, now you take
- 2:06:10Speaker 1: it a stand okay, but just just let's let's have fun.
- 2:06:14Speaker 1: It's silly unless what you have to say is so
- 2:06:17Speaker 1: good that you can make someone loud.
- 2:06:19Speaker 2: Oh, if you're good enough, If you're good enough, you know.
- 2:06:23Speaker 2: I saw people try to, you know, take on nine
- 2:06:26Speaker 2: to eleven, right after nine to eleven, but I only
- 2:06:28Speaker 2: saw like one person that was really, if you're good
- 2:06:33Speaker 2: enough to write about that, then write about it. But
- 2:06:35Speaker 2: if you're not good enough to write about it, leave
- 2:06:37Speaker 2: it the fuck alone.
- 2:06:38Speaker 1: Leave it the fuck alone. That's some black belt material.
- 2:06:40Speaker 2: Yeah, you have to scale level whatever.
- 2:06:43Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, Mitzi sure wouldn't let Brian Holtzman on
- 2:06:45Speaker 1: stage for two weeks after nine eleven.
- 2:06:47Speaker 2: No, I didn't know that.
- 2:06:51Speaker 1: She's like, no way, keep him off the stage. The
- 2:06:55Speaker 1: Holtzmann couldn't wait, couldn't wait to say something fucking completely outraged.
- 2:07:01Speaker 1: Whatever that demon inside of him that comes out when
- 2:07:04Speaker 1: he's on stage.
- 2:07:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't understand him, you know, I really don't
- 2:07:07Speaker 2: think I love him. I love him to death, but
- 2:07:10Speaker 2: he's such an original character.
- 2:07:11Speaker 1: And the most he's from a different time. It's like
- 2:07:14Speaker 1: he was brought here from another dimension. He's like a
- 2:07:17Speaker 1: different thing. Even the way he dresses. It's like he's
- 2:07:19Speaker 1: from the fifties, right, and he's like my age, Like
- 2:07:23Speaker 1: he's not. He was like that when I met him.
- 2:07:26Speaker 1: He was from a different era. When I met him
- 2:07:28Speaker 1: in ninety four, I was like, yeah, I'm like, where
- 2:07:32Speaker 1: is this fucking guy from from a different time?
- 2:07:35Speaker 2: People fucking love him though, Man, they kind of crowd now, yeah,
- 2:07:39Speaker 2: he does.
- 2:07:39Speaker 1: That's the difference between the way he was treated at
- 2:07:42Speaker 1: the store. Unfortunately he fell into this and through nobody's fault.
- 2:07:47Speaker 1: But it was like everybody waited till the end when
- 2:07:50Speaker 1: Holtsman go up, But like why have him on the end?
- 2:07:53Speaker 1: You know, it's like have him on when the crowd's hot, right, Like,
- 2:07:56Speaker 1: don't put him on at one in the morning, put
- 2:07:58Speaker 1: him on at ten. You know, let's see when the
- 2:08:01Speaker 1: crowd is like popping, Like let him let him cook
- 2:08:04Speaker 1: when the crowd's popping, you know. And now he sells out.
- 2:08:07Speaker 1: People come to see him in the headlines. It's like
- 2:08:10Speaker 1: people get excited. You know, he's a maniac and he's
- 2:08:13Speaker 1: got a crowd. Now he's got like a legitimate draw.
- 2:08:16Speaker 2: They get it, Yeah, they get it.
- 2:08:18Speaker 1: Yeah, it's nice, it's fun and you know, that's also
- 2:08:22Speaker 1: the difference between when a comedy club is run by
- 2:08:25Speaker 1: a comic, you know, because Holtzman has always been a comic.
- 2:08:29Speaker 1: Four comics. You know, we all would go to see
- 2:08:32Speaker 1: Holtzman at the end of the night when he was
- 2:08:33Speaker 1: doing these insane sets for fifteen people in the main room. Right,
- 2:08:37Speaker 1: But now like we're running the shows, like, give him
- 2:08:39Speaker 1: a fucking weekend. Let's let's go, give him a Thursday night.
- 2:08:43Speaker 1: Let's go. Let's have some fun, especially as yeah, especially
- 2:08:48Speaker 1: ten pm shows. That's the best time to see him.
- 2:08:51Speaker 1: When it's late, You've had a couple of cocktails, right,
- 2:08:55Speaker 1: you feel a little crazy about the world. Let that guy, Let.
- 2:08:59Speaker 2: That guy you understand as you joke.
- 2:09:02Speaker 1: Yeah, you get jokes. You get someone saying something that
- 2:09:05Speaker 1: he doesn't really mean. It's completely ridiculous to say, yeah,
- 2:09:08Speaker 1: that's part of the fun.
- 2:09:09Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, and then he acts like he means it
- 2:09:12Speaker 2: and you buy into it. Now he's a joke still.
- 2:09:15Speaker 1: But every now and then he'll show you behind the curtain. Yeah,
- 2:09:19Speaker 1: every now and then to give you a little peek,
- 2:09:20Speaker 1: and you're like, okay, yeah, this is an act. He's
- 2:09:23Speaker 1: having fun.
- 2:09:24Speaker 2: He is, he's having a good time and he loves
- 2:09:26Speaker 2: Austin too. I see him walking around downtown and most
- 2:09:29Speaker 2: every time I drive through the city's.
- 2:09:31Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a big get getting him here. It
- 2:09:34Speaker 1: was a big get because we wanted to bring a
- 2:09:36Speaker 1: lot of the There was some magic that was trapped
- 2:09:40Speaker 1: in the talent of the Comedy Store. It was magic
- 2:09:42Speaker 1: and some of it wasn't being utilized correctly. And Holtzman's
- 2:09:46Speaker 1: the best example of that.
- 2:09:47Speaker 2: But what a fun hang it was, you know what
- 2:09:49Speaker 2: a fun hang? Yeah it was. It was great.
- 2:09:51Speaker 1: I had some of my favorite times in my life
- 2:09:53Speaker 1: in that backbar. Yeah, just laughing, just laughing. We would
- 2:09:57Speaker 1: be back there just laughing. That was a great thing
- 2:09:58Speaker 1: the Comedy Store did when they put together that bar
- 2:10:01Speaker 1: that it had. Mitzi's actual bar from her house was
- 2:10:04Speaker 1: the bar there.
- 2:10:05Speaker 2: I didn't know that.
- 2:10:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that bar didn't used to be there, like so
- 2:10:09Speaker 1: the early days that was like a storage room and
- 2:10:13Speaker 1: so at one point in time in the store was
- 2:10:15Speaker 1: like really killing it. They decided like we should turn
- 2:10:18Speaker 1: this into a bar. And I don't know what year
- 2:10:20Speaker 1: was that. I want to feel like. I feel like
- 2:10:23Speaker 1: that was like two fourteen ish, like, which is right
- 2:10:27Speaker 1: when I came back and the stor was killing it
- 2:10:30Speaker 1: and we all were like, oh, yeah, we'll have our
- 2:10:33Speaker 1: own bar. This is incredible. And you had to go
- 2:10:35Speaker 1: through the kitchen to get through it like a scene
- 2:10:37Speaker 1: from Goodfellas, right, and you get back there, and you
- 2:10:40Speaker 1: could only be back there if you were cool like you.
- 2:10:44Speaker 1: You couldn't buy a ticket.
- 2:10:45Speaker 2: It was police.
- 2:10:46Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, you had to have a friend, you had
- 2:10:49Speaker 1: to know somebody to get back there. But we would
- 2:10:52Speaker 1: be hanging with some of the coolest people in the world.
- 2:10:54Speaker 2: That was my favorite place of drink.
- 2:10:56Speaker 1: Oh, it was so fun. They'd be a musician back there.
- 2:11:02Speaker 1: Everybody was just chilling the drinks for free. It was crazy.
- 2:11:06Speaker 1: It was like it was so fun. The store was
- 2:11:09Speaker 1: a magical place, man, a magical place. And there's something
- 2:11:13Speaker 1: about the fact that you know it had this insane
- 2:11:17Speaker 1: history to it that you felt like, Wow, I can't
- 2:11:20Speaker 1: believe I'm even here.
- 2:11:21Speaker 2: Right standing on the stage, same last stage as Prior
- 2:11:25Speaker 2: and Kennison.
- 2:11:26Speaker 1: Yeah, and you just you're in the belly of the
- 2:11:30Speaker 1: beast on sunset in Hollywood, like right in the middle
- 2:11:34Speaker 1: of everything, right in the middle of everything where everybody.
- 2:11:38Speaker 1: I remember when I was a kid in nineteen eighty eight,
- 2:11:41Speaker 1: when I first started doing stand up, they would talk
- 2:11:43Speaker 1: about the Comedy Store like it was Mecca, right, you
- 2:11:45Speaker 1: had to make your pilgrimage to the store. And some
- 2:11:48Speaker 1: guys would say they went there, but they bombed. Oh.
- 2:11:51Speaker 1: I went back there trying to do some meetings I did.
- 2:11:53Speaker 1: I set at the store. I bombed at fuck that place.
- 2:11:55Speaker 2: Like, yeah, my first trip out to you know, I
- 2:12:01Speaker 2: was trying to get on at the improv. I couldn't
- 2:12:03Speaker 2: get on, and I was like, ah, man, I went
- 2:12:05Speaker 2: to the Comedy Store and I told him my story.
- 2:12:08Speaker 2: It was Monday night and they put me up first,
- 2:12:11Speaker 2: which wasn't a really good spot, and I ate it.
- 2:12:14Speaker 2: And but they did put me on stage. Yeah, well
- 2:12:18Speaker 2: there it is right there. There about ten people in
- 2:12:21Speaker 2: there or whatever. Nobody but and it was a horrible experience.
- 2:12:25Speaker 2: But but I but I always looked back at it finally,
- 2:12:28Speaker 2: you know, because they did it. Yeah, they said, yeah,
- 2:12:31Speaker 2: go get on stage.
- 2:12:32Speaker 1: And the first time I ever came out to the store,
- 2:12:34Speaker 1: I was out and I was out in LA to
- 2:12:37Speaker 1: do some pilot thing for MTV, and I was staying
- 2:12:41Speaker 1: at a hotel and I knew who the store was
- 2:12:43Speaker 1: I was like, I got to get there. I just
- 2:12:45Speaker 1: got to see what it's like. And they let me
- 2:12:48Speaker 1: in because I was I said, hey, I'm a comedian
- 2:12:50Speaker 1: from New York. Can I just come in and watch
- 2:12:52Speaker 1: the show? And they're like yeah, sure. They just let
- 2:12:54Speaker 1: me right out. And then I sat in the back
- 2:12:56Speaker 1: of the room. There's like nineteen people in there, and
- 2:12:58Speaker 1: they were all like the comics that were on say
- 2:13:00Speaker 1: were terrible. They were all like boat acts. They're like
- 2:13:03Speaker 1: people that And then I realized years later that what
- 2:13:07Speaker 1: had happened was a lot of these scenes. They go
- 2:13:11Speaker 1: in these peaks and valleys, and I had caught it
- 2:13:14Speaker 1: when it was out of valley and before it was
- 2:13:17Speaker 1: at a peak like the Kennison years. It was a
- 2:13:19Speaker 1: giant peak when people had come to it was the
- 2:13:22Speaker 1: wild place. Kennison were there. They all come at midnight
- 2:13:25Speaker 1: and watch him and celebrities. He'd be all there, and
- 2:13:28Speaker 1: he had died in like ninety two, I think, and
- 2:13:32Speaker 1: I got there in ninety four. So there's like there
- 2:13:35Speaker 1: was this like absence, right there was a real lull.
- 2:13:39Speaker 1: There wasn't There's a lot of like leftovers people that
- 2:13:43Speaker 1: didn't that were in the eighties that didn't make it right.
- 2:13:45Speaker 1: But they were still around. They're still doing stand up
- 2:13:47Speaker 1: and hoping that something was gonna happen. But they had
- 2:13:49Speaker 1: tired acts. They were just tired. It hadn't happened for them.
- 2:13:53Speaker 1: They were out there doing pilot season. They didn't want
- 2:13:56Speaker 1: to be at the store because they're at the store.
- 2:13:57Speaker 1: There's no no agent, there's no executive. No one comes
- 2:14:01Speaker 1: to see at the store. At that time, they would
- 2:14:03Speaker 1: go to the improv go to the laugh factory. That's
- 2:14:06Speaker 1: where the industry was. So if you really wanted to
- 2:14:08Speaker 1: have an actual career, you wouldn't be doing sets at
- 2:14:10Speaker 1: the store.
- 2:14:12Speaker 2: Insty had to do sets in front of Bud Freeman
- 2:14:14Speaker 2: going language, watch your language.
- 2:14:21Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a lot of that back then, right the
- 2:14:23Speaker 1: TV days. Everybody thought you had to be clean.
- 2:14:25Speaker 2: You know. When I came back to the store, it
- 2:14:28Speaker 2: was in its heyday. You know, you were, you know,
- 2:14:31Speaker 2: running the podcast, and you know, the fucking place was
- 2:14:34Speaker 2: back to the rafters and the comics were solid as fuck.
- 2:14:38Speaker 2: You know.
- 2:14:39Speaker 1: Uh, we had a magical run.
- 2:14:42Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it was a magical run, and we're having
- 2:14:45Speaker 2: one now.
- 2:14:45Speaker 1: So it's the same thing. I mean, it's basically but
- 2:14:49Speaker 1: it's our version of it, the new version of it,
- 2:14:51Speaker 1: but it's the same thing. It's just like it's a
- 2:14:54Speaker 1: beautiful thing. When I mean that term artist is very pretentious.
- 2:14:59Speaker 1: So just say, realize that we're all doing this thing
- 2:15:02Speaker 1: together and there's not a lot of us, and it's
- 2:15:04Speaker 1: fun to hang out together and enjoy each other's company
- 2:15:06Speaker 1: and appreciate each other and appreciate the ride. We're all
- 2:15:10Speaker 1: in this wild ride together.
- 2:15:11Speaker 2: That's right. And it is quite a ride. It's a
- 2:15:13Speaker 2: beautiful ride, quite a ride.
- 2:15:15Speaker 1: Yeah, we're very lucky, Ron White and I say it
- 2:15:18Speaker 1: all the time, but it's true. You're you're patient zero.
- 2:15:22Speaker 2: All right, man, I'll take the title.
- 2:15:24Speaker 1: I'll take the title you really patient zero because you
- 2:15:26Speaker 1: just threw up. Imagine if you have some fucking new
- 2:15:28Speaker 1: COVID picked up some new COVID in Vegas that kills us.
- 2:15:31Speaker 1: All Yeah, I love you to death, brother, Thanks
- 2:15:35Speaker 2: For having now, Goodbye you
