- 0:20Speaker 1: Arthritis, save that for.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Arthritis, got it. But what's going on, everybody? I'm the only,
- 0:26Speaker 2: the W-O-O-K-I-E. Joined here by two of three misfits. We
- 0:32Speaker 2: are missing a misfit. He is out, I think, seeing Kentucky. No,
- 0:35Speaker 2: he's out seeing Nashville. But what we do have is
- 0:39Speaker 2: the PhD of Key Forge, Dr. M.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Sheep. Hello.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Wow, you sound so thrilled. We're going to get you
- 0:49Speaker 2: pumped up. All right. He didn't even say anything after that.
- 0:52Speaker 2: And the newest Vault Master, Ewok Jr. Hi, Ewok.
- 0:58Speaker 4: Hello, Key Forge community. Glad to be here tonight.
- 1:02Speaker 2: So do you have access to worlds now?
- 1:05Speaker 3: I had access to worlds for Sealed, but I have
- 1:08Speaker 3: access to worlds for Archon now.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Oh, now you have access to worlds.
- 1:13Speaker 3: For both. I actually now have access to the sweet
- 1:17Speaker 3: steak dinner that I've heard Sheep talk so much about
- 1:20Speaker 3: that he loves. Oh, yes.
- 1:21Speaker 2: It's... I have not heard it is average. That's what,
- 1:26Speaker 2: that's about what I've heard is it is average.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Yes. Um, let me restate this. I haven't received any
- 1:33Speaker 3: notification yet. I probably won't for another month, but man,
- 1:36Speaker 3: KFC will be over. Yeah.
- 1:39Speaker 1: He's busy. You don't get to become a vault warrior
- 1:41Speaker 1: until next year.
- 1:43Speaker 2: They'll mail you your steak. Uh, uh, Oh, but we
- 1:50Speaker 2: have Nashville 2026 that we all went to. Draskor was
- 1:56Speaker 2: with us, but he is touring, I believe, Tennessee at
- 1:59Speaker 2: the current time.
- 1:59Speaker 3: I think you were actually right that he's in Kentucky now. Yeah,
- 2:04Speaker 3: he's doing the Bourbon Trail for his anniversary with his
- 2:07Speaker 3: beautiful wife. And so, yeah, they were heading out and
- 2:13Speaker 3: continuing this full week.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I think.
- 2:18Speaker 2: I think, yeah, he's going, he actually was in Louisville
- 2:21Speaker 2: doing the, I think he's doing the Louisville Slugger Museum today,
- 2:26Speaker 2: because him and I had talked about it, and he
- 2:28Speaker 2: said he'll be there this Thursday, and that's today. Nice.
- 2:33Speaker 2: He probably did all that, which, that was super cool.
- 2:37Speaker 2: If you guys are interested, obviously I drove, you two flew,
- 2:42Speaker 2: so I'm assuming nothing exciting happened on your flights, did they?
- 2:47Speaker 1: There's a lot of flight delays for everybody in and out.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Of Nashville?
- 2:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Yeah, it was actually... I really lucked out. So I
- 2:58Speaker 3: had a 5 o'clock flight from Milwaukee to Chicago, and
- 3:02Speaker 3: then I was going to basically take a flight 9.30
- 3:05Speaker 3: down to Nashville at 11.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Ooh, that's a hell of a layover.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Yeah, well, but when you teach, that's what I needed.
- 3:14Speaker 3: There was a fourth... There was a 4.30 flight from
- 3:17Speaker 3: Milwaukee directly into Nashville, but my school finishes at 4 o'clock.
- 3:23Speaker 3: And so to even drive down was going to put
- 3:25Speaker 3: me at 4.45.
- 3:26Speaker 4: And I'm like, ugh.
- 3:27Speaker 2: I was just about to ask, was that a.m. or p.m.?
- 3:29Speaker 2: Because I didn't know if you'd taken that day off
- 3:31Speaker 2: or not. No, no, no, no, no.
- 3:33Speaker 3: So I basically have five days total for the year.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Two of those are for Worlds. And.
- 3:40Speaker 4: So it's very, very, very limited.
- 3:44Speaker 3: I'm blessed that they did not go ahead and count
- 3:46Speaker 3: my day when I was in Vietnam. Actually, there was
- 3:49Speaker 3: a day that was off. So that helped. But Nashville
- 3:54Speaker 3: and then Worlds will be three of my five days
- 3:57Speaker 3: total for the year. So I did not have another
- 3:59Speaker 3: day to spare.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Five days a year?
- 4:03Speaker 3: Well, but you.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Five days for his teaching portion.
- 4:07Speaker 3: It's for the teaching portion. So you have to realize, like,
- 4:10Speaker 3: I have off for Christmas. I have off for Easter.
- 4:12Speaker 3: I have off for other times.
- 4:17Speaker 2: I mean, you're still in school, what, eight months out
- 4:20Speaker 2: of the year? Nine months out of the year?
- 4:22Speaker 4: It's nine months out of the year.
- 4:23Speaker 3: It ends up being 180 days.
- 4:26Speaker 2: You couldn't get a day a month? No, no, no.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Nine would be too many?
- 4:32Speaker 3: That's not what they consider.
- 4:33Speaker 2: No, not at all. That's kind of, I don't know.
- 4:37Speaker 1: He already gets like every weird Tuesday off and early here.
- 4:41Speaker 3: And no, we don't have any, we don't have early
- 4:43Speaker 3: releases and we don't have days. I don't blame you.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Okay.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Well, super grump.
- 4:49Speaker 4: Uh, I'm pretty sure I know my schedule, so I'll
- 4:51Speaker 4: just go with, okay.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Um, there are a number of schools that will have
- 4:55Speaker 3: like early release days or days that the kids are off.
- 4:59Speaker 3: That is not ours. Uh, those are instruction. Those are like,
- 5:03Speaker 3: Those are training days. And some of the different individuals
- 5:07Speaker 3: out there, if they have a consistent, like Menominee Falls
- 5:11Speaker 3: next to us will have once a week that's off
- 5:14Speaker 3: for the afternoon. They leave an hour to two hours early.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Yeah, every Wednesday. It's early Wednesday.
- 5:21Speaker 1: My kid's school started that this year.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Yeah, well, and that's because here's the thing about teaching.
- 5:28Speaker 3: You are teaching between the hours that the kids are there.
- 5:32Speaker 3: So let's say that's just 9 to 4 o'clock. When
- 5:38Speaker 3: are your meetings going to happen? Well, that's before or after.
- 5:41Speaker 3: So you're either there 8 to 9 for meetings or
- 5:45Speaker 3: you're there after 4 to 5 for meetings. And then
- 5:51Speaker 3: you got to actually do all the planning. Like you
- 5:53Speaker 3: just can't show up and be like, hey, guys, we're
- 5:55Speaker 3: going to go ahead and teach you something today. You
- 5:58Speaker 3: actually have to do the prep work for that. So
- 6:00Speaker 3: all of that. Well, but all of the prep work
- 6:03Speaker 3: actually happens outside of that eight to four window, outside
- 6:07Speaker 3: of the meetings, outside of the actual teaching. And then
- 6:10Speaker 3: you also have to be able to deal with the grading.
- 6:12Speaker 3: You have to be able to deal with the communication
- 6:13Speaker 3: for both admin, for the parents. So the joke is,
- 6:18Speaker 3: when do you actually get to do your prep work?
- 6:22Speaker 3: Some of the districts are now starting to go ahead
- 6:24Speaker 3: and try and provide a little bit of time. But
- 6:26Speaker 3: even an hour or two hours a week is nowhere
- 6:29Speaker 3: near the amount of time that's put in by most teachers.
- 6:32Speaker 3: I use most because there are a lot of us
- 6:34Speaker 3: out there, but it's grossly understated how much time is
- 6:38Speaker 3: put in outside of the actual workday.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Well, with that being said, yeah, I didn't know. I
- 6:45Speaker 2: guess you guys had an interesting trip. We as well
- 6:48Speaker 2: had an interesting trip. I left at 5 in the morning.
- 6:52Speaker 2: yeah started down how did that work for you i
- 6:56Speaker 2: mean we got to my old man's house now my
- 6:59Speaker 2: old man lives in west moreland tennessee which is about
- 7:04Speaker 2: an hour north of nashville so it was an hour
- 7:06Speaker 2: and 20 minutes from the convention center which was a
- 7:10Speaker 2: which was a hotel which honestly the drive was not
- 7:13Speaker 2: terrible either way like it it's all highway it went
- 7:18Speaker 2: very very fast um Being out in the sticks out there.
- 7:25Speaker 2: It's very interesting. I'll get more into that later. But
- 7:29Speaker 2: we made a few road stops. You guys can go
- 7:32Speaker 2: follow us over on Patreon or any of our social media. Patreon,
- 7:36Speaker 2: I kind of give you more full details. But social media,
- 7:39Speaker 2: we'll kind of show you where we stopped. We stopped
- 7:41Speaker 2: and saw the Leaning Tower of Niles. That was a
- 7:44Speaker 2: little hit or miss. That was interesting. I don't know.
- 7:48Speaker 2: It was interesting to see. I don't know if I'd
- 7:51Speaker 2: ever go back. Um, and then we found a Wawa's, which,
- 7:57Speaker 2: I mean, I had to stop and try, right? Like,
- 8:00Speaker 2: we've heard Drazkor for years talk about Wawa's. So I
- 8:04Speaker 2: was like, oh, I need to try this. And it
- 8:06Speaker 2: was okay. Um, I will tell you, get the chicken.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Their chicken is very, very good. Um, everything else was
- 8:14Speaker 2: very okay. And my wife says the panini was very,
- 8:18Speaker 2: very good. But everything else was, you know, it was
- 8:22Speaker 2: what it was. Um, I had a burger too. And
- 8:26Speaker 2: that was very, I mean, it was a burger. It, uh,
- 8:30Speaker 2: it existed. It wasn't bad, but like, I don't know
- 8:33Speaker 2: if I'd hang my hat on. This is the best
- 8:35Speaker 2: burger I've ever had ever, ever, ever. Um, I'm trying
- 8:41Speaker 2: to think, do we go, we went there after a while. Oh,
- 8:45Speaker 2: after Wawa's, we saw the world's largest baseball bat, which
- 8:49Speaker 2: was kind of cool to see. Um, Kentucky, a very
- 8:53Speaker 2: interesting place, especially along the water side. A lot of, like,
- 8:56Speaker 2: little crab shacks where I'm assuming you can go and
- 9:00Speaker 2: eat crab. You know, Jimmy's Crab Shack, Johnny's Crab Shack, whatever.
- 9:04Speaker 2: And they're all on the water, which was really, like,
- 9:06Speaker 2: interesting to see. I'd want to stop. And then we
- 9:09Speaker 2: saw the Golden Tower. It was Golden Statue of David,
- 9:14Speaker 2: which is exactly what you think it is. It's the
- 9:15Speaker 2: Statue of David, but it's gold. So I guess that
- 9:19Speaker 2: was a thing. I was like, yeah, I've seen this,
- 9:20Speaker 2: and it's gold. And then we finally got to the
- 9:23Speaker 2: place that I had been salivating over to get to,
- 9:29Speaker 2: and that was Bucky's. I had never, ever, ever been
- 9:33Speaker 2: to a Bucky's before, and I needed to go. We
- 9:38Speaker 2: got there.
- 9:39Speaker 4: You hit Wawa and you hit Bucky's.
- 9:42Speaker 2: I hit Wawa and Bucky's, yeah. I mean, what more
- 9:44Speaker 2: could you want on a road trip?
- 9:46Speaker 3: And I'm guessing that you started in Wisconsin, so you
- 9:48Speaker 3: hit Quick Trip as well.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, Quick Trip was at 5 a.m.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Yeah, so Quick Trip, Wawa, and Buc-ee's. Man, you are
- 9:55Speaker 3: living the gas station life. So I got the gamut
- 9:58Speaker 3: of gas stations, yep. But Buc-ee's is not a gas station.
- 10:03Speaker 3: I've come to that conclusion. They may sell gas there,
- 10:07Speaker 3: but that is not a gas station. That is a full-on...
- 10:10Speaker 3: That is Walmart that has a gas station.
- 10:15Speaker 2: I mean, you can... There are so many things... You know,
- 10:18Speaker 2: and I found that out, too, in the South. A
- 10:20Speaker 2: lot of Walmarts actually just have gas stations now. So
- 10:23Speaker 2: I was like, all right, well, why not, right? Do they?
- 10:27Speaker 2: I've never seen a Walmart up here have a gas station. Okay, well.
- 10:33Speaker 2: I've never seen it. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist. But
- 10:36Speaker 2: the Wook trick, yep. It was the trifecta, the Wook trick.
- 10:41Speaker 2: And Bucky's was amazing. I mean, just as soon as
- 10:44Speaker 2: I walked in the door, I had never been And
- 10:47Speaker 2: all of my senses were just immediately blasted. I did
- 10:50Speaker 2: not know where to look first. I did not know
- 10:53Speaker 2: what to do. Like, I just.
- 10:56Speaker 4: Did you get lost in Bucky's?
- 10:58Speaker 2: I didn't get lost. But like, you just.
- 11:01Speaker 3: What did you gravitate towards? Did you go for the.
- 11:04Speaker 2: So we walked in.
- 11:05Speaker 3: To the port or.
- 11:06Speaker 2: We walked in and we immediately like the set. Because
- 11:09Speaker 2: there is actually this Bucky's has. It was two different
- 11:12Speaker 2: ways to come in. So if you came in on
- 11:14Speaker 2: the gas station side, you hit like the food. And
- 11:19Speaker 2: then if you came in the side we came in on,
- 11:22Speaker 2: it was more like the clothing and, you know, they
- 11:26Speaker 2: had like their seasonal items. Like they had all their
- 11:28Speaker 2: Bucky's Halloween decorations and like cups were out and there's
- 11:34Speaker 2: cups everywhere, all sorts of water bottles and things like that. But,
- 11:40Speaker 2: We kind of just started meandering in, and it's so
- 11:45Speaker 2: much to look at. You kind of have, I guess,
- 11:48Speaker 2: a women's section to your right and a men's section
- 11:51Speaker 2: to your left. But then it kind of gets into
- 11:54Speaker 2: that household stuff, and it's just like, Bucky's this, Bucky's that.
- 11:59Speaker 2: There's just so much to look at. I think we
- 12:01Speaker 2: spent like an hour and a half there.
- 12:03Speaker 3: I will say they're marketing in kind of how people
- 12:07Speaker 3: understand and see Bucky's. is definitely prolific.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Yeah, and I mean, we dropped some money, that's for sure.
- 12:18Speaker 2: We did get a couple sandwiches. They were good. They
- 12:22Speaker 2: were not the best brisket I've ever had, but the
- 12:25Speaker 2: best brisket I've ever had in a gas station. That
- 12:28Speaker 2: is for sure.
- 12:29Speaker 4: But you said it's not a gas station.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Well, what would you call it? No, it is a
- 12:35Speaker 2: gas station. That's how they market themselves.
- 12:38Speaker 3: I know. I'm there. Did your family, did your kids
- 12:41Speaker 3: get any of the icies or slushies there?
- 12:44Speaker 2: They did not. They gravitated towards the fountain drinks, which
- 12:49Speaker 2: Bucky's has, of course, has all their own flavors. So
- 12:54Speaker 2: that's kind of.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Where they grabbed me. Well, but right next to that,
- 12:57Speaker 3: the slushies was there. That's what my girls went for,
- 12:59Speaker 3: and they were all about.
- 13:01Speaker 2: I'm trying to remember if I even remember the Icy
- 13:04Speaker 2: Machines or the slushie machines. It was just, again, it's
- 13:08Speaker 2: so much to take in. You know, and every five
- 13:11Speaker 2: minutes they're yelling about fresh brisket on the board, and
- 13:14Speaker 2: then you're passing the fudge, and you're passing, like, the
- 13:19Speaker 2: giant wall of jerky. It's a wall of jerky. And
- 13:28Speaker 2: then not only that, there's a deli counter with more jerky,
- 13:31Speaker 2: where I guess you could buy it by the pound.
- 13:35Speaker 3: And Bucky's, we are open for sponsorship. Apparently, that's what
- 13:38Speaker 3: you're getting here.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Oh, my God. And then you got to get the
- 13:43Speaker 2: things you saw, right? You got to get the brisket sandwich.
- 13:45Speaker 2: You got to get the beaver nuggets, right? Because I
- 13:49Speaker 2: don't know what these things are. I've never had them,
- 13:52Speaker 2: never tasted them before, and I want to know. Right? And,
- 13:56Speaker 2: you know, I just... They got you good, Wook. They
- 13:59Speaker 2: got me good.
- 14:00Speaker 1: You didn't bring us anything.
- 14:03Speaker 2: I did not. Not a thing. It would have been cold.
- 14:06Speaker 2: What did you want? We shouldn't have to ask.
- 14:08Speaker 1: You should just be a good friend and bring us stuff.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Tell you what, next time I will. I will bring
- 14:15Speaker 2: you beaver nuggets.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I asked where my nuggets were, and you were...
- 14:20Speaker 1: I wanted my Buckyballs.
- 14:21Speaker 2: You wanted your Buckyballs. I'm sorry. Next time I'll bring
- 14:23Speaker 2: you some Buckyballs.
- 14:25Speaker 3: I'm just happy you made it out and that you
- 14:27Speaker 3: weren't stuck there, but you actually made it to the vault.
- 14:30Speaker 2: No, we got out, and then by the time I
- 14:33Speaker 2: got to my old man's house, I think it was... Well,
- 14:39Speaker 2: let's see. Thursday Night Football was just ending.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Okay.
- 14:45Speaker 2: So it was probably about 9, 9.30 ish. When we
- 14:50Speaker 2: made it there and, you know.
- 14:53Speaker 4: And that was pretty similar. So I was actually very lucky.
- 14:56Speaker 3: After teaching 20 years, being moved to second grade, the
- 15:00Speaker 3: benefit for second grade is my specials are the last
- 15:03Speaker 3: half hour or hour of the day. So because they
- 15:06Speaker 3: were the last hour, I said, can someone go ahead
- 15:11Speaker 3: and make sure my kids get on the bus? Because
- 15:12Speaker 3: the literally difference after that hour of specials, or in
- 15:15Speaker 3: this case, a half hour, they have... two minutes to
- 15:19Speaker 3: walk to their classroom and then walk to their bus. Um,
- 15:22Speaker 3: so that allowed me to leave earlier. And as a result,
- 15:26Speaker 3: I had bought, uh, something I don't usually do, but Tara, we,
- 15:30Speaker 3: we had a coupon for, uh, difference costs between the flights.
- 15:34Speaker 3: So that's why I actually went to Nashville. So thank you.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Thank you. And, um, there was a four 30 flight
- 15:41Speaker 3: direct into Nashville. So I hustled over there. grabbed a seat.
- 15:46Speaker 3: They're like, you're going to be stuck between two people.
- 15:47Speaker 3: I'm like, I don't care. And that was the best
- 15:50Speaker 3: thing because pretty much the East coast and Chicago area,
- 15:54Speaker 3: there were a ton of delays. So this flight was
- 15:57Speaker 3: delayed like a half hour, but I rolled in and it's,
- 16:02Speaker 3: that was five. I rolled in like six 30 and
- 16:04Speaker 3: that was much, much better than like, if I had
- 16:06Speaker 3: gone to Chicago where Dan was, Dan, you rolled in
- 16:09Speaker 3: at what time?
- 16:10Speaker 1: One.
- 16:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:13Speaker 2: 1230, one o'clock, 1231 o'clock.
- 16:17Speaker 3: And like, so just getting there at a much earlier time.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Now it did take a long time to get out
- 16:24Speaker 3: of Nashville. Um, the airport for some reason where they
- 16:29Speaker 3: docked my Southwest flight was like a detached section of
- 16:33Speaker 3: the airport. So we had to deboard the plane and,
- 16:37Speaker 3: and then get in this queue that basically led us
- 16:40Speaker 3: to some buses to take us back to the main section.
- 16:44Speaker 3: And when you're walking by, they had people standing like, no,
- 16:46Speaker 3: you got to get in this queue. And you're like, nah,
- 16:49Speaker 3: there's got to be another way out of this building. Nope, nope,
- 16:52Speaker 3: there's not another way out. And so you go all
- 16:54Speaker 3: the way to the end. The line actually wound through
- 16:57Speaker 3: the queue and went all the way to, let's call
- 17:00Speaker 3: it the western end of that.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Complex.
- 17:05Speaker 4: And people are like, it can't.
- 17:06Speaker 3: Possibly be here.
- 17:06Speaker 4: And it was winding back.
- 17:07Speaker 3: And you're like, oh, my goodness. They did move relatively fast.
- 17:11Speaker 3: We had four or five buses. But my bus, after
- 17:14Speaker 3: we finally got up there in 20, 25 minutes, we
- 17:18Speaker 3: had to then wait for two airplanes to back up.
- 17:21Speaker 3: So my Uber driver, when he finally came, he's like, yeah,
- 17:24Speaker 3: Uber said I could drop you because you're just so late.
- 17:27Speaker 3: I'm like, I know I got off the plane, but
- 17:30Speaker 3: it took me another. So I was there at, let's say, 630.
- 17:35Speaker 3: I got to my Uber driver at 745. So an
- 17:37Speaker 3: hour and 15 minutes to deport the plane and then
- 17:40Speaker 3: go through the shenanigans just to get to the main
- 17:43Speaker 3: section of the airport to get out to the Uber
- 17:46Speaker 3: like drive time.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Now that's getting that's getting off the plane in Nashville.
- 17:50Speaker 3: That was literally getting off the plane. Now I'm going
- 17:53Speaker 3: to I'll speed ahead to the final like getting in
- 17:56Speaker 3: Nashville when I came in Sunday evening. I was a
- 17:59Speaker 3: little worried. I was pulling a little bit tight. And
- 18:02Speaker 3: I literally walked through all the checkpoints, got to my
- 18:06Speaker 3: gate in less than 10 minutes. Wow. So it just
- 18:09Speaker 3: depended on where you were. It was super fast on
- 18:12Speaker 3: Sunday night. It was really, really slow on Thursday.
- 18:15Speaker 4: But you made it.
- 18:16Speaker 3: It was good. And I didn't arrive late because there
- 18:19Speaker 3: were a lot of people who came in super late.
- 18:22Speaker 3: So when I rolled in, I was hungry, but I
- 18:26Speaker 3: saw they were finishing up a learn-to-play event. And I
- 18:30Speaker 3: have to say, I was a little skeptical about the
- 18:34Speaker 3: vault being at another event that wasn't a game store.
- 18:38Speaker 3: But the game store was running their booth or section outside.
- 18:43Speaker 3: We had two rooms that were there for the vault.
- 18:45Speaker 3: There was a massive area for board gaming. And the crossover...
- 18:50Speaker 3: It allowed a learn to play event to happen on
- 18:53Speaker 3: Thursday night. There were people who literally came and learned
- 18:57Speaker 3: Key Forge for the first time. I want to say
- 18:59Speaker 3: there was at least one person I know of that
- 19:02Speaker 3: I saw then on the next day for Friday who
- 19:04Speaker 3: played in the event, which was super cool. Like no
- 19:07Speaker 3: real experience outside of I learned to play a game
- 19:09Speaker 3: and then boom, you show up.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Well, not only that, to be honest with you, like
- 19:13Speaker 2: it was attached to an event, but you didn't have
- 19:16Speaker 2: to pay for the event. And then pay for an event, right?
- 19:22Speaker 2: You didn't have to pay to get into the board
- 19:25Speaker 2: gaming event. You could just pay for the event. If
- 19:27Speaker 2: you wanted to then board game, I think it was $ 10, right?
- 19:31Speaker 3: It was $ 10, which is a steal. Right.
- 19:34Speaker 2: And I was like, even if I don't board game
- 19:37Speaker 2: at all, right? I think the $ 10 just to show
- 19:42Speaker 2: some good faith. was well worth it. And you got
- 19:47Speaker 2: a tiny little board game out of it. I don't
- 19:49Speaker 2: know where mine is. is, but it's around here somewhere.
- 19:52Speaker 3: It is with the items that Pete has left with
- 19:55Speaker 3: me because you didn't come out on Locals.
- 19:56Speaker 2: I had it.
- 19:58Speaker 3: I had the board game because I came in and
- 20:01Speaker 3: I'm like, that board game Wookiee you did not take.
- 20:05Speaker 3: I brought it. Next time I see you, we got you.
- 20:06Speaker 2: No, I have it. Oh, then I have sheeps? You
- 20:11Speaker 2: probably do have sheeps.
- 20:13Speaker 3: I got sheeps.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Sheep's like, I don't want this shit. Just slid it
- 20:17Speaker 2: into your bag. That's how he does it. Yeah, I know.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Mine's right here. Mine's in my bag. I still have mine.
- 20:26Speaker 3: Yeah mine's all right cheap i got i have your
- 20:28Speaker 3: i have your amazing game no but like it was
- 20:30Speaker 3: a nice game there was beautiful space to play um
- 20:33Speaker 3: i will say that some of the keyforgers leaked out
- 20:35Speaker 3: into that other room and they didn't even question like
- 20:37Speaker 3: as people were right nobody really said no they were
- 20:40Speaker 3: super generous easy going it was a ton of fun
- 20:43Speaker 3: very good yeah seeing that set up um A bunch
- 20:47Speaker 3: of people did drive, so I got to give X-Ray
- 20:49Speaker 3: a shout-out because he actually, like, hey, we went out
- 20:51Speaker 3: and we grabbed food. So there was a local brewery
- 20:53Speaker 3: that was close by. So, yeah, when the game was
- 20:57Speaker 3: for Thursday Night Football was finishing up, I got some
- 20:59Speaker 3: jambalaya and a brewski, and we were able to have
- 21:04Speaker 3: a good time there.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I finally, once I got there, I ate one
- 21:07Speaker 2: of the sandwiches we got from Bucky's, and I finished
- 21:12Speaker 2: watching Aaron Rodgers lose to the Browns. My day was complete.
- 21:19Speaker 2: It was awesome. Nice.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Sheep, you came in and we also had a plus one.
- 21:26Speaker 3: So shout out to Barry. Barry was in our room
- 21:30Speaker 3: and it was a blast. But I mean, you guys,
- 21:33Speaker 3: you came in much, much later.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I landed whatever, 1230. I did not have your problem.
- 21:43Speaker 1: I was straight off the plane over to the thing like.
- 21:46Speaker 1: 16 minutes after I got off the plane, so I
- 21:50Speaker 1: texted like anybody's around. And I'd already ordered my iUber,
- 21:54Speaker 1: and that's when Barry messages, oh, I'm landing now. So
- 21:57Speaker 1: I canceled my Uber, waited around.
- 22:01Speaker 3: And, uh.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Yeah, and we rode in and went to bed, because
- 22:05Speaker 1: it was late.
- 22:06Speaker 3: It was late. Yeah.
- 22:09Speaker 2: We start day one. Day one is sealed. It always
- 22:13Speaker 2: is sealed. Starts at 11.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Um.
- 22:18Speaker 2: I don't know about you guys, but I had my
- 22:20Speaker 2: old man, his wife, made us all breakfast. So we
- 22:24Speaker 2: didn't have to go nowhere. I had pancakes and eggs. And, yeah,
- 22:31Speaker 2: I had pancakes and eggs. I can't remember. There were
- 22:33Speaker 2: other things. I had a banana, too. But I got
- 22:35Speaker 2: to tell this story because I woke up at 6 o'clock.
- 22:40Speaker 2: That's just where my bodily clock alarm is. Didn't sleep well.
- 22:48Speaker 2: that first night. I don't know why, but I never
- 22:50Speaker 2: sleep well when I'm outside the home. Um, but you know,
- 22:56Speaker 2: I'm floating around. I'm like, all right, I'm going to
- 22:58Speaker 2: go outside. I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm going to,
- 23:01Speaker 2: you know, puff on my vape a little bit, kind
- 23:03Speaker 2: of get the day started. And I'm just sitting there
- 23:07Speaker 2: and I'm, you know, he, he, he lives out in
- 23:09Speaker 2: the sticks kind of in the middle of nowhere. And
- 23:11Speaker 2: the sun's kind of just coming up over the trees.
- 23:13Speaker 2: It's a very pretty sight. And I'm just kind of
- 23:17Speaker 2: watching it, and it's raining a little bit at this
- 23:20Speaker 2: point in time. It rained on Friday. And I'm just
- 23:25Speaker 2: sitting there, and not much is going on until I hear.
- 23:32Speaker 2: I'm not kidding you guys. I heard a rooster crow
- 23:35Speaker 2: at the crack of dawn. I was like, well, you
- 23:40Speaker 2: know you're in the sticks.
- 23:41Speaker 3: I know.
- 23:42Speaker 2: I'm like, you know you're in the sticks. When you
- 23:44Speaker 2: hear a rooster crow at the crack of dawn, and
- 23:46Speaker 2: what was funny is I was like, I can tell
- 23:48Speaker 2: zero people about this. Because if I told you, you
- 23:52Speaker 2: would not believe me. Who would believe you that that
- 23:55Speaker 2: actually happened? I'm like, this is a damn Folgers.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Rooster's crow?
- 23:59Speaker 2: At the crack of dawn?
- 24:00Speaker 3: Yeah. You haven't heard that before?
- 24:02Speaker 2: I have heard that before. Have I ever heard it
- 24:04Speaker 2: personally before?
- 24:05Speaker 3: No. I have a neighbor who has a rooster.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh.
- 24:13Speaker 3: Yep.
- 24:14Speaker 4: H-O-A apparently allows that one.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Used to live on a farm.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Alright, well, I didn't, nor do I have neighbors with roosters.
- 24:22Speaker 2: So I was just like, I can tell no one
- 24:23Speaker 2: about this, because no one will believe me until my
- 24:25Speaker 2: wife came out and she's doing her thing, and yep,
- 24:28Speaker 2: she heard it too, and I'm like, alright. I have
- 24:31Speaker 2: a witness. It happened.
- 24:32Speaker 4: I have a witness.
- 24:35Speaker 2: That was amazing. I drove my hour in. I met
- 24:38Speaker 2: up with Sheep. Ewok Jr. is now a member of ReapOut.
- 24:45Speaker 2: That's where we found him.
- 24:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:46Speaker 2: I haven't talked to my peeps.
- 24:50Speaker 3: We're good.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Let's see. I'm trying to think. Like a camera, just
- 24:53Speaker 2: a lot of people kind of all around. I had
- 24:57Speaker 2: to put on my sweet hat because I had a
- 25:00Speaker 2: cowboy hat all weekend because we're in Tennessee. You can't
- 25:03Speaker 2: go to Tennessee without a cowboy hat. Except nobody else
- 25:07Speaker 2: had cowboy hats except for me.
- 25:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:10Speaker 2: So even the Texan didn't have a cowboy hat. What
- 25:13Speaker 2: a crummy Texan. And we move into sealed. Boys, how
- 25:21Speaker 2: were your sealed pulls?
- 25:26Speaker 1: I thought mine was going... I thought mine was pretty good.
- 25:30Speaker 1: I'm actually still playing the deck. It's pretty cool.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Okay.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Oh, keep going.
- 25:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:40Speaker 1: I mean, so I was happy with my pull. I
- 25:42Speaker 1: went and broke all my decks apart. You know, then
- 25:45Speaker 1: went and picked pods, put it together. And it was
- 25:47Speaker 1: like during game four that I realized I didn't Alliance.
- 25:50Speaker 1: I was actually just playing an Archon deck.
- 25:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:57Speaker 2: I mean, that's cool.
- 25:59Speaker 4: Well, I'm going to go ahead and give a shout out.
- 26:02Speaker 3: We talk here. And before getting into decks, there were
- 26:05Speaker 3: 67 players.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 26:07Speaker 1: 67.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a lot.
- 26:10Speaker 3: That is the... That is the largest vault that we've
- 26:13Speaker 3: had this year, so phenomenal turnout, and it was really,
- 26:16Speaker 3: really cool to see. For decks, how can I say
- 26:21Speaker 3: this politely?
- 26:23Speaker 4: Mine were stinkers.
- 26:26Speaker 3: I had what I didn't have in Vietnam, and that
- 26:29Speaker 3: was C. So that's actually really good for DMs to
- 26:35Speaker 3: have C, so I was excited about that. But my
- 26:37Speaker 3: problem was... I had a whole bunch of C, and
- 26:42Speaker 3: I only had capture. So when you're not stealing, I
- 26:45Speaker 3: get to take it temporarily, and then I can let
- 26:48Speaker 3: it all go back to you. And that was the
- 26:51Speaker 3: short answer. It was actually the worst outing of sealed
- 26:57Speaker 3: that I've had this year. So I ended up finishing
- 27:00Speaker 3: one in two.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Oof.
- 27:03Speaker 3: Yeah, it was rough. It started, and I will say this,
- 27:07Speaker 3: it started by going on stream for round one and
- 27:11Speaker 3: getting blown out. Absolutely dominated. And shout out to Hawks
- 27:20Speaker 3: fan who did a really nice job at taking that
- 27:23Speaker 3: game and maybe a little bit more as we'll talk
- 27:26Speaker 3: about later. Yeah.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Sheep, how did you end up?
- 27:31Speaker 1: Uh. So, I lost a couple of games. I know
- 27:38Speaker 1: my first loss was bad play. I felt really tired
- 27:41Speaker 1: that day. Was not doing great. So, made some mistakes. But,
- 27:46Speaker 1: you know, oh well. But I was 4-2. My second
- 27:54Speaker 1: loss was to X-Ray. Also, just unbelievable luck on his
- 27:58Speaker 1: part to beat me.
- 27:59Speaker 2: But whatever.
- 28:00Speaker 1: So, I'm 4-2 going into my last game. I'm playing
- 28:05Speaker 1: Dom Fam. And we play, and my deck fires off
- 28:09Speaker 1: real well, and I trounce him quite readily, really. And
- 28:12Speaker 1: then we stop, and we count cards. Yeah, we're done.
- 28:16Speaker 1: I'm putting my deck away, I'm counting my cards. And
- 28:18Speaker 1: I come up that I only have 35 cards in
- 28:20Speaker 1: my deck.
- 28:22Speaker 3: Ruh-roh.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Yeah, ruh-roh. So if you... recall, not too long ago,
- 28:31Speaker 1: we had the good guy Jace rule, which is you're
- 28:33Speaker 1: missing a card, and they just go, well, you know.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Replace the pot. Yeah, right?
- 28:40Speaker 1: You just gotta replace the pot. And, uh, well, it
- 28:44Speaker 1: turns out there's a black sheep rule, which is, um,
- 28:48Speaker 1: you give it a game loss. Yeah!
- 28:53Speaker 3: Stick it to him!
- 28:54Speaker 1: Game loss! So, that's how that goes, is... is if
- 28:59Speaker 1: you're Jace and you're a nice guy, they just go, oh,
- 29:02Speaker 1: it's okay. And if you're Sheep, you get a game loss.
- 29:06Speaker 1: So that's awesome. So I ended up 4-3 overall. Neither
- 29:10Speaker 1: DomFam nor I were actually in position. We were like
- 29:14Speaker 1: 14th and 16th overall at that point with our X
- 29:18Speaker 1: and 2 records. So neither one of us could make
- 29:20Speaker 1: the jump into the top eight. So our game really
- 29:23Speaker 1: didn't matter. We were both just playing because we both
- 29:27Speaker 1: were kind of like knocked out After the side event started.
- 29:31Speaker 1: So you're just like, what do you do? You just,
- 29:33Speaker 1: you do nothing. It's kind of lame in that regard.
- 29:37Speaker 3: I will actually, well, there's two parts here. in regards
- 29:40Speaker 3: to the side event. I actually felt very lucky that
- 29:45Speaker 3: I could join it. My last game was against Tobin
- 29:48Speaker 3: and Tobin beat me handily three to one. But he
- 29:51Speaker 3: kind of fell into that. He's like, after I beat you,
- 29:54Speaker 3: then I just lost. And now I was too late
- 29:56Speaker 3: to be able to join the side event. And I said, well,
- 29:59Speaker 3: I knew my deck wasn't going. I was going to
- 30:00Speaker 3: join the side events anyway. But yeah, it is a
- 30:03Speaker 3: bit of a bummer when you get to that spot.
- 30:04Speaker 3: You're like, I could do something. Nope, I can't. The
- 30:09Speaker 3: other comment that I will master 23.
- 30:13Speaker 2: 24, 24.
- 30:14Speaker 3: But before we get there, I will go ahead and
- 30:16Speaker 3: shout out while there is a black sheep rule versus
- 30:21Speaker 3: a jace rule um it is the really the right
- 30:24Speaker 3: call and i know that you voiced that too it's
- 30:27Speaker 3: like if you're missing a card it.
- 30:30Speaker 4: It should be a game loss and then we go.
- 30:33Speaker 2: It makes my heart happy that you're just.
- 30:36Speaker 4: I will i will say i will say that though so.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Um Right, boys?
- 30:43Speaker 3: Yes, I agree.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Cheap.
- 30:47Speaker 2: When you set a precedent earlier on, you know what
- 30:51Speaker 2: I mean? It's hard to go back on that precedent.
- 30:54Speaker 2: They need to correct their mistakes. My loss was well deserved.
- 30:59Speaker 2: It's fine.
- 31:01Speaker 3: They just can't go back and give someone else a
- 31:04Speaker 3: warning next time. That would make it real bad.
- 31:07Speaker 2: That would be hilarious if KFC happens again and they
- 31:11Speaker 2: just give him a warning like, ah, replace the bot.
- 31:14Speaker 2: I want to see Sheepshead explode.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Yeah, then there'd be some fights. Then there'd be some fighting.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Oh, that would be hilarious.
- 31:25Speaker 4: It was the right thing to do.
- 31:28Speaker 3: So I... Okay, so you went 4-3. I went 1-3.
- 31:34Speaker 4: I joined the side event.
- 31:35Speaker 3: Wookiee, How'd you end up?
- 31:39Speaker 2: I went 7-0.
- 31:40Speaker 3: Whoa.
- 31:42Speaker 2: I did not lose all day. In fact, you can
- 31:45Speaker 2: watch almost my entire vault tour on stream if you
- 31:49Speaker 2: so desire. I don't remember all of my opponents, so
- 31:54Speaker 2: I apologize. I wish in, and maybe they do, and
- 32:01Speaker 2: I just don't know how to do it. I wish in,
- 32:06Speaker 2: what is it?
- 32:06Speaker 1: Playstyle.
- 32:06Speaker 2: Playstyle. you could see who you all went up against
- 32:10Speaker 2: and their names. Because there were some people that were
- 32:13Speaker 2: kind of newer and had never been to a Vault
- 32:15Speaker 2: Tour before. So I didn't quite know who they were.
- 32:21Speaker 4: Can I give you a pro tip?
- 32:23Speaker 3: Yeah. Write it down. No.
- 32:26Speaker 4: Actually, just take your phone, and when you're in play
- 32:29Speaker 4: style with the matchup, just.
- 32:30Speaker 3: Take a photo of it. So I showed that to
- 32:32Speaker 3: a couple people I was playing, and they're like, oh,
- 32:34Speaker 3: my goodness, that is so easy. But it really does
- 32:37Speaker 3: help you that you don't have to remember every single
- 32:40Speaker 3: player that you had played because it's just there. You
- 32:43Speaker 3: took a photo of it, and you're like, boom, I
- 32:44Speaker 3: can scroll back. Right.
- 32:46Speaker 2: I did not think about that at all, to be
- 32:48Speaker 2: honest with you. I took a screenshot of my last
- 32:52Speaker 2: game because I didn't believe that I had actually went 7-0. Okay.
- 33:00Speaker 2: PlayStyle is the tournament software for drinking.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Being developed by Dresdner. PlayStill.
- 33:05Speaker 2: PlayStill, oh. Yeah, so I didn't think about it at
- 33:10Speaker 2: the time. I know I went up against a Papa.
- 33:15Speaker 2: I went up against Thydium. Sutterkins I went up against. Jonesy. Man,
- 33:31Speaker 2: I'm just having Orion. I think I played Orion at
- 33:35Speaker 2: one point in time.
- 33:37Speaker 3: It's okay. It's great radio.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Yeah, but you can actually probably go see about five
- 33:46Speaker 2: of my seven matches on stream because they kept putting
- 33:50Speaker 2: me there. Sheep's saying I should have declined some, which
- 33:55Speaker 2: maybe I should have. Um, not really thinking in the moment,
- 33:59Speaker 2: you're all just go, go, go, go, go get, you know,
- 34:01Speaker 2: get to where you need to be and just get
- 34:04Speaker 2: there and play your games. That was kind of the
- 34:07Speaker 2: headspace I was in, but I did pull some fire.
- 34:11Speaker 2: I'm not going to lie to anybody. I did. I
- 34:13Speaker 2: did pull, um, I did pull good stuff. Um, quad
- 34:19Speaker 2: hot bunk.
- 34:21Speaker 1: Ooh. Ooh.
- 34:22Speaker 2: I did have a Gemcoat Vendor and a couple Guardians,
- 34:26Speaker 2: which helped me with some of those pesky All-R-Mars. We
- 34:31Speaker 2: can just go ahead and blow those up. And then
- 34:38Speaker 2: I started out with an Archon deck, which had Geistoid
- 34:44Speaker 2: in it. It had some fun stuff with some Old Switcheroo's.
- 34:51Speaker 2: And some Mets and all that kind of fun stuff
- 34:56Speaker 2: that just never kind of panned out. So I end
- 34:59Speaker 2: up switching that out for a pod that's got triple...
- 35:07Speaker 2: Oh my goodness, I can't remember the name of the guy.
- 35:09Speaker 2: The play if you're behind Steel 2. From Skyborn? No,
- 35:12Speaker 2: from Shadows.
- 35:21Speaker 3: Oh, Pinscher Malloy.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Pinscher Malloy. So the triple Pinscher Malloy, double caught you nappings,
- 35:29Speaker 2: which can turn out to be real monsters in DM.
- 35:34Speaker 3: True story. Steel is real good in Key Forge.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:40Speaker 3: I mean, it's real good in Key Forge. And if
- 35:41Speaker 3: you don't have steel, that can really hurt you. But yeah,
- 35:44Speaker 3: no steel.
- 35:45Speaker 2: It had double of the bombs. I can't remember. I
- 35:49Speaker 2: call them glitter bombs now because it's a sparkly grenade.
- 35:52Speaker 2: But it's the one where you deal two damage with
- 35:55Speaker 2: one splash. If you kill two things, steal one.
- 35:57Speaker 3: Pyrotechnic.
- 35:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it's Splitter Bomb. That's what I called it. And
- 36:03Speaker 2: my Skyborn wasn't the hottest, but it had triple against
- 36:08Speaker 2: all flags. So we played it. So I started the
- 36:12Speaker 2: day with a.
- 36:13Speaker 3: Pyrotechnic Flash is what you were talking about.
- 36:15Speaker 2: I started the day with an Archon deck. Both times
- 36:19Speaker 2: were just way closer than I wanted them or thought
- 36:23Speaker 2: they should be. Knowing when I was going into it,
- 36:27Speaker 2: I mean, I was 2-0 at the time. I was like,
- 36:30Speaker 2: I think this is just going to give me more
- 36:31Speaker 2: consistency in the steal zone. Because both of my first
- 36:36Speaker 2: two games were much closer, I thought, than they should
- 36:38Speaker 2: have been with the amount of what I was doing
- 36:42Speaker 2: in the other two houses. So I was like, I'm
- 36:44Speaker 2: going to give it a shot and see what happens.
- 36:46Speaker 2: And it just kind of sung after that. So I
- 36:49Speaker 2: just rolled with that throughout the entire rest of the event.
- 36:53Speaker 3: Nice.
- 36:55Speaker 2: So lots of steel.
- 36:58Speaker 4: And steel real good.
- 36:59Speaker 2: According to Flaming Hobo, if you get good cards, it's
- 37:02Speaker 2: not hard to win. That's just what I was told.
- 37:06Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 37:08Speaker 3: I mean, I did also hear that he flaked out
- 37:11Speaker 3: at 0-2, so take that for what it's worth.
- 37:15Speaker 1: That was an Archon.
- 37:16Speaker 3: Oh, okay, fine. We'll put it in Archon.
- 37:19Speaker 2: No, whatever.
- 37:20Speaker 3: No, there's a lot of love for both sides.
- 37:23Speaker 4: When you go ahead.
- 37:24Speaker 3: Nah.
- 37:25Speaker 2: I agree with you.
- 37:30Speaker 3: I love you, Hobo. You're a great guy.
- 37:31Speaker 2: If you look at.
- 37:35Speaker 3: DM, did you have enough C in order to go
- 37:41Speaker 3: ahead and run through? Or did you think that you
- 37:43Speaker 3: had enough bounce to deal with?
- 37:44Speaker 2: So, I didn't have a ton of C, to be
- 37:47Speaker 2: honest with you. I mean, I had the Guardians, which
- 37:49Speaker 2: is if you're overwhelmed, you get to blow up there.
- 37:54Speaker 2: You get to blow up a creature. If not, you
- 37:57Speaker 2: blow up an artifact. I did not find myself overwhelmed
- 38:01Speaker 2: too many times. So that was really my only C
- 38:06Speaker 2: in the entire deck was those Guardians.
- 38:11Speaker 4: Were you fighting consistently?
- 38:12Speaker 2: If I had to.
- 38:15Speaker 3: I mean, there were times where I had to fight.
- 38:18Speaker 3: What was your quad Echodon card again?
- 38:20Speaker 2: Hotbunk, which allows me to exhaust. So I had a
- 38:23Speaker 2: lot of, I'm going to exhaust your guy. I'm going
- 38:26Speaker 2: to ready my guy. A lot of the times it
- 38:30Speaker 2: was action, gem coat, deal him a damage card. And
- 38:33Speaker 2: then I'll steal one.
- 38:35Speaker 3: But I mean, if, if everyone's spitting down creatures, but
- 38:38Speaker 3: you just get to exhaust them and then do something
- 38:40Speaker 3: like exhausting is, eh, but if you get to exhaust
- 38:44Speaker 3: and then you gain a benefit where you get to
- 38:47Speaker 3: reap off of it, like I exhaust you, then I reap.
- 38:51Speaker 3: That's real good.
- 38:52Speaker 2: So I, I found myself in real trouble and it
- 38:55Speaker 2: was another one on stream where I think it was
- 38:59Speaker 2: up against Sutterkins where an Abagnale hits the board. Ooh,
- 39:03Speaker 2: And I don't have a good way of dealing with it.
- 39:07Speaker 2: And tapping it down isn't going to do anything.
- 39:10Speaker 3: Nope.
- 39:11Speaker 2: So I'm kind of in trouble. So I did have
- 39:13Speaker 2: to fight a couple of times. There was one turn
- 39:16Speaker 2: where I got to just take an awful Echidna turn.
- 39:20Speaker 2: Because I got to get rid of that Abagnale. Because
- 39:22Speaker 2: I can't get to three and then let him Forge
- 39:24Speaker 2: off of that. So I've got to take this really
- 39:27Speaker 2: chunky Echidna turn that is not awesome, just to get
- 39:33Speaker 2: rid of it. And I think that was after I
- 39:39Speaker 2: made the switch. After I got rid of the Abagnale,
- 39:42Speaker 2: we were good. There was a couple of All-Armars. I
- 39:44Speaker 2: think he had an All-Armars that I had to deal with.
- 39:51Speaker 2: Thydium had a Vargas Revenge that I had to deal with. Which,
- 39:57Speaker 2: by the way, if you get stuck with all those chains,
- 40:00Speaker 2: that kind of sucks.
- 40:03Speaker 3: But.
- 40:04Speaker 1: Chains are... Chains lay down.
- 40:07Speaker 2: Yeah, so.
- 40:09Speaker 3: Yeah, man, you had a hot run because you finished
- 40:12Speaker 3: 6-0 and then they played top 8.
- 40:13Speaker 2: I finished 7-0 because we had 7 rounds.
- 40:16Speaker 3: Oh, that is right.
- 40:17Speaker 2: We had enough people to do a 7th round.
- 40:22Speaker 3: And so then you played the top eight there, so
- 40:24Speaker 3: you ended up going 8-0?
- 40:25Speaker 2: 8-0 on day one, yep.
- 40:28Speaker 3: That's a good day, man. That's a real good day.
- 40:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I ended up playing the same person, and I
- 40:34Speaker 2: can't remember the name. I apologize. I played the same
- 40:37Speaker 2: person a second time.
- 40:39Speaker 4: Well, I can go through.
- 40:41Speaker 3: So for Seal, the top eight players, you'd beat one
- 40:44Speaker 3: of these, was Sutterkin, Orion, Shu, Maja, and Bumping.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Bumping is who I played.
- 40:52Speaker 1: I played Bumping in round 7.
- 40:54Speaker 2: And then I played him again in the top 8.
- 41:01Speaker 3: But the top 8.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Game was actually kind of close. You didn't have too
- 41:06Speaker 1: much trouble in the 7-0 game. No, the 7-0 game,
- 41:10Speaker 1: I kind of steamrolled that game. I think it was
- 41:13Speaker 1: one key. I think he got one key to three keys.
- 41:16Speaker 1: Where the top 8 game was significantly closer. but obviously
- 41:20Speaker 1: he knows what he's playing against now, right? He knows
- 41:24Speaker 1: what's happening.
- 41:25Speaker 3: So, and I think in that manner and your comment
- 41:28Speaker 3: earlier in regards to being on stream, like I enjoy
- 41:33Speaker 3: being on stream. I think that it's really important for
- 41:36Speaker 3: the game to have people who are knowledgeable and, and
- 41:39Speaker 3: active in the community as especially some of the early
- 41:41Speaker 3: games they get stomped great but you have a personality
- 41:44Speaker 3: there my problem is with sealed if we keep cycling
- 41:47Speaker 3: the same person so i i would give that recommendation
- 41:51Speaker 3: is it's okay to say no i will pass after
- 41:54Speaker 3: you've been on once or maybe twice right um but
- 41:57Speaker 3: i would also say for the judging staff one of
- 42:01Speaker 3: the things that could probably be done Because if I'm
- 42:03Speaker 3: at home watching a tournament, I want to see different
- 42:06Speaker 3: players too. So nothing against you, Wookiee, but I would
- 42:09Speaker 3: say that would be something that I would probably pull
- 42:11Speaker 3: out different people. It's like, oh, Wookiee's at one.
- 42:14Speaker 4: He's undefeated.
- 42:15Speaker 1: Who doesn't want to watch a guy fall asleep at
- 42:17Speaker 1: the table?
- 42:19Speaker 4: That happened once.
- 42:19Speaker 2: Oh my goodness.
- 42:23Speaker 3: But you can go ahead and shift to here's basically
- 42:26Speaker 3: the next two people down.
- 42:28Speaker 2: So I talked to Marcus about that a little bit,
- 42:31Speaker 2: and he's like, that's not how it works. The system
- 42:35Speaker 2: basically tells them. But then at the same time, I
- 42:38Speaker 2: was like, well, don't you decide what table one is?
- 42:41Speaker 2: Can't you just shift table one and table two or whatever?
- 42:46Speaker 3: I don't know, but I would say that's what I
- 42:48Speaker 3: would be doing is just to talk to and say,
- 42:51Speaker 3: you're going to shift table spots with this person. This
- 42:54Speaker 3: is where you're going.
- 42:55Speaker 2: I would say probably the best game on stream that
- 43:02Speaker 2: I played that had excitement and you don't know what
- 43:07Speaker 2: you're going to get when you put people on stream.
- 43:10Speaker 2: You can't tell this, but my game with Thydium probably
- 43:14Speaker 2: had the most excitement, right? And I think that was
- 43:19Speaker 2: round six, where we went to time, because he just
- 43:27Speaker 2: kept capturing.
- 43:27Speaker 3: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Yeah, he kept capturing, and it slowed me down.
- 43:33Speaker 4: You said a T word.
- 43:35Speaker 2: I went to time one out of seven rounds.
- 43:39Speaker 3: Okay.
- 43:42Speaker 2: And what is it? What is the unfathomable card where
- 43:46Speaker 2: you just capture half your opponent's number? Is it Fathom Reaving?
- 43:51Speaker 3: Fathom Share.
- 43:51Speaker 2: Fathom Share. He had two of those.
- 43:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:59Speaker 2: He had two Fathom Shares. So he was able to
- 44:03Speaker 2: capture quite a bit for me. And then immediately the
- 44:07Speaker 2: card that I... complained to sheep about that I had
- 44:10Speaker 2: to take in the crap. I'm like, I got to
- 44:13Speaker 2: take the shitty bullet eyes. But, you know, whatever.
- 44:19Speaker 3: Fathom Share is amber pip action. It's unfathomable. Capture half
- 44:23Speaker 3: of your opponent's amber, rounding down. Distribute among any number
- 44:26Speaker 3: of friendly creatures. If he has board, that's a problem.
- 44:29Speaker 2: And he did. That was the first time, I think,
- 44:35Speaker 2: all tournament that I was outboarded. Because I had a board,
- 44:40Speaker 2: but I was outboarded at that point. He had a
- 44:45Speaker 2: lot of... Man, so many fish decks floating around. And
- 44:48Speaker 2: it was... Fish can be very, very irritating in this set. Like,
- 44:53Speaker 2: just very irritating. And you gotta pay attention to what
- 44:57Speaker 2: they do, because a lot of them do need to
- 45:00Speaker 2: be killed immediately. Because there's a lot of exhaust and
- 45:04Speaker 2: rage and stun.
- 45:06Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 45:08Speaker 2: In this set, and there's a lot of bounce. I mean,
- 45:11Speaker 2: Bubbles is in the set. So, I mean, that was,
- 45:14Speaker 2: like I said, the first time that I was outboarded
- 45:17Speaker 2: was by Thydium.
- 45:20Speaker 1: It's the only house with real disruption, instead of stealing
- 45:23Speaker 1: a couple cards.
- 45:24Speaker 2: Right.
- 45:25Speaker 1: I guess Equidon kind of has some disruption.
- 45:27Speaker 2: A little bit. But, like, that was kind of a
- 45:30Speaker 2: big pain in the butt to deal with. And it
- 45:34Speaker 2: wasn't until we went to time... And even talking with
- 45:37Speaker 2: him after, he's like, I ended my turn so that
- 45:41Speaker 2: time would be called on your turn so I'd get
- 45:43Speaker 2: the second turn. So he said he could have done more,
- 45:46Speaker 2: but he was playing too fast on that final turn
- 45:49Speaker 2: so he could end on my... So time would be
- 45:52Speaker 2: called on my turn. Which, all right, that makes sense.
- 45:59Speaker 2: But turns out.
- 46:02Speaker 2: Bullet Eye came in the clutch because when she reaps,
- 46:06Speaker 2: she kills a flank creature. Which happened to have a
- 46:10Speaker 2: lot of ember on it. Because he kept capturing a
- 46:12Speaker 2: lot of my ember. So I ended up killing that one.
- 46:16Speaker 2: And I went into... I went into... Skyborn. Skyborn, which
- 46:25Speaker 2: has jump start. So I was allowed to do it twice.
- 46:27Speaker 2: So I was able to get six ember back off
- 46:29Speaker 2: of creatures. plus a reap for two, which put me
- 46:32Speaker 2: at 12. So even if he fathom shares me, or
- 46:36Speaker 2: I'm sorry, what is it? Fathom share?
- 46:39Speaker 3: Fathom share.
- 46:40Speaker 2: Yeah, even if he does that to me, I still
- 46:42Speaker 2: have six. So I'm still going to be able to
- 46:45Speaker 2: forge on the forge of keystep. So at that point,
- 46:50Speaker 2: the handshake was given, and I took that game down.
- 46:56Speaker 2: So bullet eye, who knew, huh? And then sheep immediately
- 46:59Speaker 2: gave me shit for it. He's like, oh, that card
- 47:04Speaker 2: you thought was junk now coming in the clutch, huh?
- 47:06Speaker 2: And then walks away. What an asshole.
- 47:08Speaker 3: I mean, there are cards that, yeah, don't hold up,
- 47:13Speaker 3: and all of a sudden they seem to be MVPs,
- 47:16Speaker 3: so it happens.
- 47:17Speaker 2: Yeah, so... I thought that was probably the most exciting game.
- 47:22Speaker 2: That was probably... My heartbeat was probably going the fastest
- 47:25Speaker 2: during that game, because I'm like, oh, man. I'm gonna
- 47:28Speaker 2: lose this game. Um... But, yeah. Time came to save me, actually. Probably.
- 47:38Speaker 2: Because I don't know where that game goes if we continue.
- 47:42Speaker 2: Because he had just flipped, which means he has the
- 47:44Speaker 2: possibility of getting them back. So, it could have been disastrous.
- 47:51Speaker 2: Who knows? But day one, I finish 8-0. Headed into.
- 47:57Speaker 3: Day... too.
- 48:01Speaker 2: Did you guys do anything fun or exciting? I didn't
- 48:04Speaker 2: get back until about 11.30, so I went to bed.
- 48:08Speaker 4: You were super late.
- 48:09Speaker 3: I did go ahead and play in the VM24.
- 48:14Speaker 4: That was a nice sealed side event.
- 48:18Speaker 2: Sealed Alliance Standard.
- 48:21Speaker 3: That's what it was called.
- 48:25Speaker 1: I gave you some stinkers for this, I hear.
- 48:27Speaker 3: You did.
- 48:28Speaker 1: Um....
- 48:30Speaker 3: I appreciated you so much. And it was not great.
- 48:36Speaker 4: It was not great.
- 48:37Speaker 3: The one highlight I will say is that I had
- 48:40Speaker 3: an unfathomable pod that had double Dark Discovery in it.
- 48:47Speaker 3: I know. And so that was pretty cool. But it
- 48:50Speaker 3: did take six of the 12 cards from the pod.
- 48:53Speaker 3: And I was... I did go for it.
- 48:57Speaker 1: Logos to make it happen?
- 48:59Speaker 3: Yeah. It doesn't happen.
- 49:01Speaker 4: Well, it made it worse than that.
- 49:02Speaker 3: So I played it in game one, but it had
- 49:03Speaker 3: Abyssal Sight, Adult Swim, the Double Dark Discovery, Double Dive Down,
- 49:08Speaker 3: Double Drawn Down, Double Bubbles, Gatewatcher, and Tangy Mangy. I'm like,
- 49:12Speaker 3: that's actually not a bad pod by any means. And
- 49:15Speaker 3: it did pop with a big 33. However, in true fashion,
- 49:24Speaker 3: it did not play out because I went ahead and
- 49:30Speaker 3: discard the top card of your opponent's deck, put a
- 49:32Speaker 3: creature that shares a house with that card in the
- 49:35Speaker 3: bottom and two for two. he didn't have a creature
- 49:39Speaker 3: at that time that matched that house. He had the
- 49:41Speaker 3: other two, but he missed and did not have all three.
- 49:45Speaker 3: So that hurts. And that made it a lot harder
- 49:48Speaker 3: to be able to guess. And I did try and
- 49:50Speaker 3: guess for the last two.
- 49:52Speaker 2: It was so bad. Yeah.
- 49:54Speaker 3: Well, I mean, I could bury a.
- 49:58Speaker 2: Couple of them.
- 49:59Speaker 3: So with dark discovery, name two cards, discard the bottom
- 50:01Speaker 3: two cards, your opponent's deck purge. But, It was neat.
- 50:05Speaker 3: It just did not pan out. I did not have
- 50:08Speaker 3: many going to time moments. I had one going to
- 50:11Speaker 3: time moment. Don't act like I went to time all
- 50:15Speaker 3: these times. I see what you're writing. No, you said
- 50:17Speaker 3: Wookiee had as many going to time moments as I did.
- 50:21Speaker 3: I had one.
- 50:23Speaker 2: Reading.
- 50:24Speaker 4: This is important.
- 50:24Speaker 2: I didn't go to time at all.
- 50:28Speaker 3: You also didn't have the run that Wookiee had.
- 50:35Speaker 1: I played as many games of Key Forge as you.
- 50:40Speaker 2: Guys.
- 50:41Speaker 3: Anyway, I had... I was no good. Literally, I went
- 50:45Speaker 3: one in three, which was the worst that I'd had
- 50:47Speaker 3: at Sealed.
- 50:48Speaker 2: Wasn't it an alliance? Wasn't that an alliance event? Yeah.
- 50:53Speaker 2: Two-deck alliance.
- 50:55Speaker 4: It was two-deck alliance.
- 50:56Speaker 2: You didn't have anything better than a double Dark Discovery?
- 51:01Speaker 1: That's pretty good.
- 51:02Speaker 3: That's pretty good.
- 51:03Speaker 1: Is it?
- 51:03Speaker 2: In Sealed?
- 51:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 51:05Speaker 4: Yeah, my other houses, I had two Sanctum houses.
- 51:09Speaker 3: So I was looking at basically a double Lady Maxima.
- 51:14Speaker 2: With a Book of Malification. You said enough Sanctum. We
- 51:17Speaker 2: don't need any of those.
- 51:19Speaker 3: And then I had double Brobnar.
- 51:21Speaker 4: And I had Iron Obelisk.
- 51:25Speaker 3: I had double... I had Memorialize the Fallen, Rance Arrive,
- 51:30Speaker 3: and then Iron Obelisk. I'm like, alright, we should get
- 51:32Speaker 3: some value out of this.
- 51:33Speaker 2: All those seem good.
- 51:35Speaker 3: Double Brammo, Drummer Knot, Ground Nine Toes, Lollip, and Fire Breath.
- 51:43Speaker 3: I didn't have a ton to be able to deal
- 51:47Speaker 3: with it. It didn't come together. It was actually worse
- 51:54Speaker 3: than my one and two for real DM. I went
- 52:00Speaker 3: ahead and lost my first one, won my second one,
- 52:04Speaker 3: Lost my third and my fourth and my fifth game, guys.
- 52:09Speaker 4: I was one and four.
- 52:12Speaker 3: So for the day. I was two and six. It
- 52:17Speaker 3: was a rough day for you. I mean, I have
- 52:20Speaker 3: not seen that in a while, but it happened.
- 52:23Speaker 1: I still had the M24 and donkey measure sitting at home,
- 52:27Speaker 1: so I brought everything to play, but I was still
- 52:29Speaker 1: playing in the field. So I gave you walk my decks.
- 52:33Speaker 1: I had brought. Sorry. Sorry, buddy.
- 52:36Speaker 2: It's okay.
- 52:37Speaker 4: I also lost to our new player.
- 52:43Speaker 3: His name was Michael, and he was brand new, so
- 52:47Speaker 3: I also lost to him in the final round.
- 52:50Speaker 4: But he beat me, and it was super close. It
- 52:53Speaker 4: was two keys, two keys. We were going back and forth,
- 52:56Speaker 4: and the boy pulled it out.
- 52:57Speaker 3: I loved it. To see that response from a new
- 53:01Speaker 3: player and that excitement– Honestly, I would have taken another
- 53:05Speaker 3: four or five losses off of that. That individual did
- 53:09Speaker 3: walk away with all of my decks for that day
- 53:12Speaker 3: because those DM were not going to really have a
- 53:15Speaker 3: meaningful place in my heart. So he was ecstatic to
- 53:18Speaker 3: walk away with three new Draconian Measure decks and two
- 53:23Speaker 3: of the VM24. One of those, I believe that was
- 53:26Speaker 3: San Antonio mark from you, Sheep. So he was super happy.
- 53:33Speaker 3: But it'll be great to be able to hopefully see
- 53:35Speaker 3: him next year. But yeah, it was pretty rough. So
- 53:39Speaker 3: I was ready to go out afterwards.
- 53:41Speaker 4: And we did go out.
- 53:42Speaker 3: Did you guys get a few beverages? We went on
- 53:46Speaker 3: the Draskor experience.
- 53:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:50Speaker 3: The Draskor experience.
- 53:50Speaker 1: What was the Drasknor experience this year?
- 53:53Speaker 3: It was, well, no, it was a Draskwalk because he
- 53:57Speaker 3: took us to an area and then we walked to
- 54:00Speaker 3: another area.
- 54:02Speaker 1: I mean, the first stop, dinner was real good.
- 54:04Speaker 3: Yeah, dinner.
- 54:04Speaker 1: Tapas place.
- 54:06Speaker 3: Yep.
- 54:06Speaker 1: Had good food there. And then he picked some super
- 54:13Speaker 1: classy bar that we walked to, and then they said,
- 54:17Speaker 1: we're only open for another half an hour, and it's
- 54:19Speaker 1: an hour wait. Yep.
- 54:22Speaker 2: Yeah, that sounds like a typical Draskor experience after a
- 54:25Speaker 2: rough day of gaming.
- 54:26Speaker 1: But everybody just old bandit home.
- 54:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 54:29Speaker 1: Half an hour.
- 54:30Speaker 3: I went back with Jace and Tobin, and we decided
- 54:34Speaker 3: that we were going to go ahead and crack our
- 54:36Speaker 3: VM26 so that we could go ahead and play it
- 54:39Speaker 3: the next day.
- 54:43Speaker 2: Oh, you know what? I don't even know if that
- 54:45Speaker 2: VM26 that I opened was... I don't know if that
- 54:50Speaker 2: was my goodie bag one or not.
- 54:52Speaker 3: Ooh.
- 54:54Speaker 2: I have no idea. Your KFC one?
- 54:57Speaker 1: Yeah. That's where the KFC ones were supposed to be from.
- 54:59Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, I don't know, because I kind of... Like
- 55:02Speaker 2: I said, I got back after I'd gotten all my winnings,
- 55:05Speaker 2: and then Livy wanted to open one, and I opened
- 55:10Speaker 2: one that Marcus whipped at me really hard. And I
- 55:13Speaker 2: gave that one to you, because I was like, oh,
- 55:16Speaker 2: it's an Omnipus deck. This goes to Sheep. He wanted
- 55:19Speaker 2: one anyway. So I was like, that's the one I
- 55:21Speaker 2: gave to you. And I was like, how fitting. Omnipus, Tentaclits.
- 55:24Speaker 2: He'll love it.
- 55:28Speaker 3: So.
- 55:29Speaker 2: All right, should we move into day two? Archon and Alliance.
- 55:33Speaker 3: I will say we all felt like little children, though,
- 55:36Speaker 3: opening these VM26 decks. Yeah, why? And why? Because we
- 55:44Speaker 3: just have them all. Like, we're on a little table,
- 55:46Speaker 3: and all of them are right in front of us.
- 55:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 55:50Speaker 3: So, yeah, it was like, all right, what are we
- 55:52Speaker 3: going to open, guys? And out of the decks, there was...
- 55:56Speaker 3: Jace did pull a deck, and he did end up
- 55:58Speaker 3: playing it the next day. So I did not open
- 56:01Speaker 3: anything that had any amount of value at all. But
- 56:05Speaker 3: it was pretty neat to see Jace with his deck.
- 56:09Speaker 3: All right.
- 56:10Speaker 2: Two of you went into... Actually, three of you went
- 56:14Speaker 2: into Archon. I went over to Alliance.
- 56:17Speaker 1: Yeah, after you went and screwed me out of playing Alliance.
- 56:21Speaker 2: I didn't screw you out of anything. Yes.
- 56:23Speaker 1: You were all like, I don't know what I'm going
- 56:24Speaker 1: to do. I can't decide.
- 56:25Speaker 2: I didn't know what I was going to do.
- 56:26Speaker 1: I'm going to play Alliance. I come and tell you
- 56:28Speaker 1: I'm playing Alliance. You're like, no, I'm playing Alliance.
- 56:30Speaker 2: I was literally signing up. I was sitting next to
- 56:33Speaker 2: DeadSix signing up as you're like, are you going to play?
- 56:36Speaker 2: And I was like, yeah, I'm playing this. You're like,
- 56:39Speaker 2: and then you went back. It's okay. You probably would
- 56:41Speaker 2: have ended up the same as me.
- 56:44Speaker 3: No.
- 56:45Speaker 2: No. Okay. Whatever. How'd your battle fleets fly? Better than yours.
- 56:50Speaker 3: Well, let's talk. So we had 67 for Sealed. Wookie,
- 56:57Speaker 3: you decided to go in Alliance. Shall we go through
- 57:00Speaker 3: the Sweet Alliance? How many players did you have for Alliance, Wookie? Nine. Wait.
- 57:07Speaker 3: This is the largest fault of the year, Wookie. We
- 57:09Speaker 3: had 67 for Sealed. How many do we have for Alliance?
- 57:12Speaker 2: I think Marcus said it was 72 unique entrants.
- 57:18Speaker 3: Yeah, there were... Yeah, there were a couple people who
- 57:21Speaker 3: had signed up but didn't necessarily show up.
- 57:23Speaker 2: Well, no, there was five who didn't show up for Sealed,
- 57:27Speaker 2: but those were unique entrants. So 72 unique people came
- 57:32Speaker 2: to the event.
- 57:33Speaker 3: Yeah, well, we had 53 for Archon and nine for
- 57:35Speaker 3: Alliance that played on Saturday.
- 57:37Speaker 2: Oh, okay. But yeah, there was nine over in Alliance. Okay.
- 57:44Speaker 2: Guess what dominated the meta over there?
- 57:48Speaker 3: What dominated it?
- 57:49Speaker 2: PV. Well, I mean, I'm looking for there.
- 57:53Speaker 3: There was, there was top four with, uh, dress core
- 57:58Speaker 3: team member, Doug Tater taking talk. So shout out there because.
- 58:03Speaker 2: Actually hold on. What dress core team member?
- 58:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 58:06Speaker 3: So our, our, our ABR, our team.
- 58:08Speaker 2: Oh, your team. I got it.
- 58:10Speaker 3: I got it.
- 58:10Speaker 2: I got it.
- 58:10Speaker 3: Okay. I mean, we got to give a shout out
- 58:12Speaker 3: for our amazing run. Yeah.
- 58:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 58:14Speaker 3: And last, um, but he had talk, but yeah. Hey, we, we,
- 58:19Speaker 3: We've had a real rough season, yes.
- 58:22Speaker 2: His tactic was actually pretty good. Yeah, his tactic was
- 58:24Speaker 2: pretty cool. I was watching his deck. It spits... I
- 58:27Speaker 2: think it's a double amasser deck. It spits out those
- 58:31Speaker 2: stupid tokens like it's nobody's business.
- 58:35Speaker 3: Well, and what was kind of cool is that because
- 58:39Speaker 3: two people had qualified, the invites actually passed down. So
- 58:44Speaker 3: top four... individuals who ended up out of the nine
- 58:48Speaker 3: are all qualified for worlds.
- 58:51Speaker 2: Very nice i took a top eight there.
- 58:54Speaker 1: With losses and a buy.
- 58:56Speaker 2: Three losses and a buy.
- 58:59Speaker 1: Three losses and a buy top eight oh god what
- 59:04Speaker 1: happened to the ninth player i have no idea i
- 59:07Speaker 1: wonder what their record was.
- 59:08Speaker 2: Well i got paired up to Miggy. Because Miggy was 2-1.
- 59:12Speaker 2: And I'm like, how did you get paired up to
- 59:13Speaker 2: a 1-2? I think this doesn't even make sense.
- 59:17Speaker 3: The short answer is that the win was against the
- 59:22Speaker 3: real person and not the buy.
- 59:24Speaker 1: Right.
- 59:25Speaker 2: No, no, no. I didn't win against a person.
- 59:29Speaker 1: No, the ninth place player.
- 59:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't.
- 59:34Speaker 1: Might have one win against a real player that counts
- 59:36Speaker 1: for less than your buy.
- 59:38Speaker 3: Right.
- 59:40Speaker 1: Yes. It's awesome.
- 59:42Speaker 2: Don't worry.
- 59:43Speaker 3: It's real bad. But Wookie, I am proud that you
- 59:47Speaker 3: did not take dead last in a field of nine.
- 59:49Speaker 2: I told you guys my goal. Because I was not
- 59:54Speaker 2: looking to come back on Sunday. To make top.
- 59:57Speaker 4: Eight on an alliance?
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: You could have choked in anything, buddy.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: This is true. I could have choked in anything. You're right.
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: Just like my hero, Dr.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: Sheep.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: I could have choked in anything.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: That is choked.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: You went two and two.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that's not choking.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: It's not doing well. I don't really know what to
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: call that.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: Mediocrity.
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: To be fair, it was funny because me and Sheep
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: were talking beforehand. And we were like, oh, here's the
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: things you don't want to see. And every deck I
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: went up against had all of it. And I was like, well,
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: that's about PV for it. It's like, okay, if it
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: has artifact control, you can't play your artifacts until you
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: see it. And every deck I played against either had
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: a Poltergeist or a Bondsman.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the artifact control that uses them because you
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: can't give them that efficiency.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: And then it was, okay, if they have... You gotta
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: be smart about, you know, your archiving. All decks had parallel.
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: All decks had at least one to two copies of
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: Parallel Thinking. So that was fun. And then I, what
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: was the last one? We had one other one and,
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: and every deck could deal with that as well. So
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: I was like, all right. It just is what it is.
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: I got, I got shut down by PV. Like PV
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: is just, it's out of control right now, man. It's
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: running wild.
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: So in our chat, you can see Eric water said
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: the ninth place Alliance player was actually one of their locals.
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: And he opened three VM26 decks right before the tournaments
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: for Alliance. And they pressured him in and basically glory
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: by making the top eight. And then he was the
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: one person who didn't actually make it. Poor guy.
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: Wookie, you owe that.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: Look at what you wrote, Wookie.
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: That's why we don't have nice things, Wookie. Yeah.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: I'll tell you guys.
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: Yes, I could have been playing board games. That is
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: what could have happened.
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: I mean, yeah.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: Well, my day was after Wookiee stole the Battlefleets for
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: Alliance from me, I just decided to be lazy and
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: play Fraud because I hadn't practiced with anything else and
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: wasn't willing to put any effort in at this point. Yeah,
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: I went 2-2. I won my first two games. First game,
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: pretty handily. Played up Kind of a guy who's been
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: playing for a long time, but hasn't been playing a
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: lot recently on a VM26 stack, and Fraud did Fraudy things.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: And then I got to play Jace, and Fraud did
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: really good Fraudy things.
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: Dr.
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: Sheep is going Dr. Roboto for me. I'm not sure
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: if I'm losing connection or if you guys are.
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: Ewok. Oh, and now we lost Ewok. Let's see if
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: we can reel this in somehow, someway. Oh, now we
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: lost Sheep. Yeah, okay. It wasn't just me. They've done it.
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: They've digitized the AC crew. They got us.
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: Ooh, Robot, Robot, Sheep.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: I was hearing Robot, Sheep. I was hearing Robot, Sheep, too.
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: Am I any better yet?
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: Yeah, you're good now.
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: You guys all went robotty on me.
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: Everybody did.
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: Yeah, it was.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: Well, anyways, I played Jace on his Saurian Pip Trawler
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: with double epic poem and a and what an exile.
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: OK, so this was the deck that we opened up
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: the night before. So you got to hear this. The
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: devil that rebels against vaults. Ninety four SAS VM 26.
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: The Saurian is just absolutely beautiful. Double epic poem. Exile, Imperium,
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: Double Golden Spiral, Quad, Archlelegate Valeria, which is basically providing
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: the Saurian pips and then before fight exalts an enemy
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: creature for each of Archlelegate Saurian neighbors. 5-1. And then
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: you have Lapisaurus and Optigorkus. Skyborn.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: Optigorkus next to those guys means you're fighting twice as
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: much to get that Trawler Amber back.
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: Correct. So that has each of Optigorkis's neighbor's gains destroyed.
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: Move each amber on this creature to a neighboring Optigorkis.
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: That's a tongue twister there. But the Skyborn, Bomberang, double
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: cold ropes, prop dusting, red skies, red line rotation, double
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: Chandler and Nook, so providing that taunt, deep. uh, blue Bryn,
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: late Earl of, uh, Hurl, Ripperjack and Skulking, uh, Skebatures.
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: Not great for Skyborn, but not the end. It actually,
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: this is weird. Sass has it as a 33 versus
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: Saurian at 28, but I'd much rather have that Saurian.
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: The unfathomable though, with some sweet, you said double trawler.
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: One of those coming in as a Saurian trawler, um,
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: Awful Atoll, which has some really interesting... So while a
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: player is haunted, their creatures get minus two. If there
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: are no creatures in play, then destroy Awful Atoll. And
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: then you have Befuddle, Abyssal Sights, and Bema Forgetting. So
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: expected is 39 Amber on this. Just massive. And this
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: is brutal, but I do think Fraud doesn't really care
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: about Amber and can push for the board. Yeah. So
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: what did you end up doing in that game?
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: Well, his his exile and one of his epic poems
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: both like bounced out in the first 10 cards.
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: And then.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: I did have a very good battle fleet battle fleet turn,
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: which was followed by a library access for first time turn. Yeah.
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: So like I was doing all the things I needed
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: to do and I baited him and he finally trollered. Oh, yeah.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: Trawler and epic poems right into my I.G. Trollered again.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: And at that point, I looked at his deck and
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, well, both Exiles and Epic Poem are gone.
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: So or the Exile and both Epic Poems are gone.
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: So at that point, I just left the Trollers on
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: the board. I'm just like, I'll just make all the
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: Amber again. Because I had the double Battlefleets coming back around.
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: So and you this was this was the first game, right?
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: Our second game.
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: Second game. So he really only had a game under
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: him and then a partial, which is brutal compared to fraud.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: So I. I high rolled the hack out of Jace,
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: which was good. And then round three, I played. Round
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: three was. No, round four was Bubba.
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: Comrade Bubba.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember I played Comrade Bubba. I got the
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: pair up there. OK, so that was my two one game.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: I had to play the three oh Bubba and that
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: game came down to the end. He was on key
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: for three. I only had one key, and I Battlefleeted
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: five cards into my eight cards left in my deck,
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: and the other Battlefleet is in those eight cards. And
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: if I hit it, then I would have enough cards
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: to key abduct, and I had everything in hand to
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: be able to stop him from forging. And then I
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: would have made so much amber, I don't think he
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: could have stopped me, because I would have also had
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: my board clear, my... been able to do a bunch
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: of damage, so I would have killed off all those
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: little three-power goobers that were taking all my amber away
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: for turn after turn after turn.
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: But I missed. I did not get my Battlefleet. So
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: then I had to use my Squawker to try to
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: draw another card with Mega Mouth into Quixel, which I
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: did draw the Battlefleet, which put me back to life,
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: but on the reshuffle, I had to either draw a
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: Squawker or a Battlefleet. to keep my dreams alive, and, uh,
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: it still, it didn't, so. Lost that game. Then I,
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: I don't know. Oh, no, my, my third round was, uh,
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: my first loss to go 2-1 was to JJ. JJ
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: on his Amber Skies, and, uh, yeah, so I played
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: two VM26 and two Amber Skies decks. Both Amber Skies
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: decks were playing Pipped Enhanced Arises. Yes.
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: Ugh. Ugh. Alright.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: So like i'm playing fraud with very little c so
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: uh yeah those decks were tough they beat me that's
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: the end of my day.
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: Yeah comrade bubba was really interesting on this deck so
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: it has The Bravnar itself, I think, is huge for
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: this deck. But Cacophonous Riot, on the mark, which is
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: a rare, choose a friendly creature and move each amber
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: on that creature to an enemy creature. That played a
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: bit in games that I saw. Raise your glass, Bosh,
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: but then quad DB Goober. And so what's really cool
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: is like, Okay. You can scrap each player with seven
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: or more loses too. So you can essentially scrap, or
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: you can place it out for a future turn where
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: it's going to, after reap your opponent loses one.
- 1:09:46Speaker 4: Um, and that board is brutal.
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: And then dead star, fancy Donovan, grenade snib, and then
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: grinder swarm. So you never see the silly sky beast.
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: Like grinder swarm is three power cyborg creature. Grinder swarm
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: gets plus one power for each creature in play after
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: fight capture too. Um, but I do think the arise
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: being Brobnar pipped is so good to just cycle all
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: of those creatures back. And it's, it's very, I don't know.
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: I saw a lot of similarities to Olympio and kind
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: of what it could do, but just control the board
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: and go kind of wicked. Um, and then on the Geistoid,
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: it had a ghost in the sun, double in here somewhere, uh,
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: double junk restoration, veil, Colonel slime to capture a pair
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: of bite. It's all, it was going to spit out creatures.
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: And I think that would have a lot.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: He lost a Bubba too. And he made the mistake of.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: He figured out.
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: Oh boy.
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: First. and then did the damage, so then the Grinderswarm
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: still had one power?
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: No, I did that.
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: Oh, that was you. Okay. Yeah, so I actually lost.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: I was talking about that.
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I actually lost to Bubba with this Amber Skies,
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: and it was a very, very, very close game. That
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: was round six. No, that was not close. I lost
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: one to three. I got blown out, but the Arise
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: hit twice for me. The second time was when there
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: was one card left in deck, and... just absolutely brutal
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: to have that spam because I did not have enough.
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: I did not have enough C. Um, and so just
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: looking at it, it was, that was a real problem
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: for me of, okay, how do you actually get rid
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: of the board? Um, I was lucky enough with swordsman.
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: So I did play PV.
- 1:11:41Speaker 4: Um, it was, it was locals, um, Mr.
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: Perfect's deck. So I really enjoyed that. But my deck
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: was Swordsman, Cheravaha, the bookish. And this is the one
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: I played over in Vietnam. Lateral Shift. But my C
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: literally is sick. So I have an Unstable Dale, a
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: Gift of Amber, and then Hazard Zerg. So I was
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: very good in that I was able to actually use the...
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: I was able to go ahead and use, what was it,
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: the Unstable Dale to clear it the first time. The
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: second time it came out, I had some issues because
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: that Grinder Swarm, I thought I could go ahead and
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: play Hazard Zerp. Now, I just needed to scrap Hazard Zerp,
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: then Creature's not being played. But by playing Hazard Zerp,
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: it gives the plus one to the Grinder, and then
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: my three damage was not enough to kill it. Um,
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: it did not matter cause I was going to need
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: to be able to have Bufo and some shenanigans to
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: get it under and they'd have to guess wrong.
- 1:12:54Speaker 4: But yeah, that was one of my two losses.
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: So I ended up going for two in my run. Um,
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: it was a good run for me. I started actually.
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: So shout out to Tyler. Tyler is actually now with
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: the guys over in redacted. So PGH fan and I
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: won three, one, he was on PV, but he was
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: originally from Pittsburgh. Now he's with the Philly guys and
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: he was actually running one of quick, uh, quick draws
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: PV decks and it had tranks cover fire hoodwink that.
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: Was untamed pipped. And to be honest, the, the game.
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: Shows three one, but I really got lucky in that
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: I had a feeling to play the reiteration, um, which
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: I don't typically play. I don't prophesize it. Usually I'll
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: play it for value and I'm just like, I need
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: to play this. And it ended up when he triggered it,
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: I discarded both his, uh, tranks and his was, it
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: was another sanctum card that would have like pitched a card.
- 1:14:01Speaker 4: Um, so it was huge timing.
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: It allowed me to get a key and then I
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: outboarded them and that was pretty much it.
- 1:14:06Speaker 4: Uh, round two, I played Orion on, uh, mom.
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: So like, guys really cool to see more mass mutation
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: showing up. Like that was pretty sweet. And then round three,
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: I played Mammon on Olympio. Mammon said basically my, like
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: early on, he had the double Dr. Zillick's and he
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: had a Sinwick's. There was a point where I finally
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: could get rid of the Cynwix because my board, he
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: was just going to be eating up. So I couldn't
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: gain enough Amber. So I actually did have to fight
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: it off. Once I did that, he was waiting for
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: the other doctor to show up and it just never did.
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: It was in the bottom. So his Parabyte and the
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: Parabyte and the doctor didn't show up until the end.
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: He had to have a turn where he blew the
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: intentional discharge on two Mars creatures that really weren't hundred
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: percent efficient. It didn't give them a lot. And at
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: that point I was able to kind of take the
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: win there. Three, two, I played Thydium and that was
- 1:15:14Speaker 3: my first loss in round four, straight up big, big
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: PV board. Early on, I made a choice that I
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: actually used my chonkers in order to increase my power
- 1:15:32Speaker 3: to five, which was, He had one creature to fight it,
- 1:15:36Speaker 3: but I basically made Cha a five. So I was
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: looking that he was going to trade, but he ended
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: up not trading. And then that became trade fodder for
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: he tranks down to me. So I got to a
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: spot where I was with a three, three split and
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: I had lateral shift and I had an untamed burst
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: and I figured he hadn't played that many cards. I
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: think we were looking at roughly eight to 10 cards
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: that had been played. So I made a choice to
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: burst with my double crystalline harvest and I went to
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: nine and he promptly came back and tranks me. I'm like,
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: I chose poorly. I said, I tranked.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: I was just going to ask, do you ever lateral
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: shift a tranks?
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: I have not lateral shifted a tranks yet. Um, it,
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: that would have been as close as I was there.
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: And I literally had a split that I was deciding
- 1:16:26Speaker 3: what to do. So I kicked myself on that. Um,
- 1:16:30Speaker 3: but he put it on my creature because I had chunks,
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: which made it worse because otherwise it would have been
- 1:16:36Speaker 3: forced on his creature. So had I gone ahead and
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: actually taken the tranks with the lateral shift, it basically
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: would have just stalled him because it was his own Amber.
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: But I lucked out because he did not prophesy his spendthrift.
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: And so I lateral shifted on the next turn, which
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: is how I knew what was there. And I, was
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: able to take the spendthrift and all that nine Amber,
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: I just reduced to one. So he learned, don't go
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: ahead and basically put prophecy of spendthrift away. Don't allow
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: someone to be able to take that. But I did
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: lock out, but that board was just absolutely brutal. Having
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: the Marcella and having the Lorica infantry that are sanctum
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: pipped just means that that sanctum literally has so much like,
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: it has so much, um, power and specifically like armor.
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: I couldn't get through it. I had one card that
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: was going to go ahead and do the removal. And
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: that is, I'm giving you Amber for it, which is
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: not ideal, but it's a gift of Amber. And so
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: that was, it was not a good matchup. Um, but
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: it was the first loss. We go into game five, five,
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: I played Tobin and I felt bad, but that was, I,
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: I think Tobin in that match got paired up and
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: I got paired down and that was a win. And
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: then round six, I played Comrade Bubba and took a
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: loss there. So now I'm sitting at two losses and
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: it was enough to be able to make the top eight.
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: I took seven spot because my two losses were to
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: undefeated Thydium and then to Comrade Bubba who had just
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: lost to Thydium as the only two losses that were there.
- 1:18:28Speaker 4: So it was a good run.
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: So you took two high-end losses, which isn't a bad thing.
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I took two high-end losses, but it was a
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: pretty crazy kind of setup. But it bounced me all
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: the way back to seven. So yes, it was a very, very,
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: very tough run. I know that online, a lot of
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: people had kind of said, Oh, the top eight isn't
- 1:18:51Speaker 3: looking like PV doesn't represent because our top eight for Archon,
- 1:18:57Speaker 3: it had three PV and then it had two Amber skies,
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: two GR and one MMM plus and So it was
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: a lot more diverse than what we had seen.
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: That's probably the most diverse top eight we've had in
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: a long time.
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: Yeah. But even if you look like my deck for
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: swordsman is really a PV rush deck. That EM's deck
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: was very much a, it had tranks creed, but it,
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: it had a massive board like ability to, to ward
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: ability to go ahead and fight and capture, um, The
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: two Amber Skies decks were just spitting out creatures. Even
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: Orion's MMM deck was really cool. I don't know if
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: you guys had seen that deck at all.
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: I did not.
- 1:19:50Speaker 3: So Mark of Death is definitely there. Double Infernus. You
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: have Double Anthony. But there are... Let's see here.
- 1:20:01Speaker 4: In the Logos, it has Double Kronos.
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: And it has one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10,
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: 11 draw pips. So like the Kronos can really get going.
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: And while I had finished, because I kind of outraced,
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: he showed me a really cool piece where adaptoid, he
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: was able to go ahead with a drop, like with
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: a bonus pips, adding to adaptoid, he was able to
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: increase the power and he could fight with a steel three.
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: So you can get a massive steal from the MMMM deck,
- 1:20:41Speaker 3: which I thought was really neat. It did have autoencoder
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: in it, and so you could really kind of churn
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: through cards. I actually had some issues with the access denied,
- 1:20:52Speaker 3: being able to take away the reap effect on some
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: of my key creatures. So I thought it was a
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: really neat deck.
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: Do you think now that... Do you think that people
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: are teching against it a little bit more or just
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: we're done with it? So people have moved on.
- 1:21:08Speaker 4: I think it's a combination.
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: I think that people are just done with PV and
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: in the U S and people are just like, I
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: don't want to play it. It's not fun. And I
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: did hear a couple of people say that like, I
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: wanted to bring this deck, but I didn't, I wanted
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: to have fun. And so they brought another deck instead.
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: I also think that there's some great tech. I think the,
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: Being able to control actions, so a very heavy disruption
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: deck causes issues for PV. And I think that going
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: ahead and having a massive board, PV typically doesn't have
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: a ton of creature removal. So Thydium's deck of being
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: able to fight off, being able to build a big, fat,
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: wide board was really, really important. But it was a
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: very interesting meta in kind of what was there. Um,
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: for the GR, like Don Pham's deck, Donatus is well,
- 1:22:05Speaker 3: well known what it can do and kind of push. Um,
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: the other PV deck was actually, uh, Admiral Dunn, which
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: is a highly, highly sought after deck. That's really, really cool.
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: So Trang's Creed, Barrister Joya, um, Broken Intent was the
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: other card that I'd purged earlier that I was saying.
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: But for Admiral Dunn, you have, again, a big, big
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: Saurian and Sanctum board. Spendthrift, Sedentary Nap, Defense Initiative to
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: ward it, Double Marcella. So it seemed to be either
- 1:22:44Speaker 3: people are pushing really hard with Amber Rush or people
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: are trying to build out a big, big, massive board
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: that was warded and saying you must have multiple C
- 1:22:53Speaker 3: to remove it.
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: I've been saying the Saurian's good.
- 1:22:59Speaker 4: It definitely showed up. It definitely showed up, I will
- 1:23:03Speaker 4: say that.
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: But in the end, although you say there was variety,
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: it's two PV decks on the final table.
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: It did come to the final... Yes, it did come
- 1:23:17Speaker 3: to PV. And this is where PV has a huge advantage.
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: There's just.
- 1:23:23Speaker 4: There's a lot of efficiency in discarding cards that.
- 1:23:27Speaker 4: Are meaningless.
- 1:23:29Speaker 3: And then the cards are real, real good. I mean,
- 1:23:35Speaker 3: Trank's Creed is straight up broken. Lateral Shift from my
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: deck has been a ridiculous card that people are afraid of.
- 1:23:42Speaker 3: And my deck just spits out creatures. So top eight,
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: I faced Donpham. And Donpham and I both talked like
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: this was going to come down to who could go
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: ahead and get their bit to go off first.
- 1:23:57Speaker 4: I will say that one's on stream.
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: And I think the key piece for me was that
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: Chonkers was faded. And for my luck, Don Pham guessed wrong.
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: And so all my creatures were plus two power. And
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: so his Earthshaker, which he did have in hand, had
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: no effect there. So like that, that's straight luck, but
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: that doesn't exist in other sets. And that's where PV
- 1:24:21Speaker 3: has a huge advantage. So yeah, I took that top
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: eight game. I took the top four game, which was
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: not streamed. I actually went ahead and had a really,
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: really tough game against GR with the Shiftless Footman and Kokathi.
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: And this GR deck, again, had a ton of that
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: control that I was talking about. Double market fluctuation, double
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: permanent record, double fiery jerk to remove the creatures. And then...
- 1:24:54Speaker 3: triple recklessness. So between the double market fluctuation, triple recklessness,
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: I was really trying to just build a board and
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: it took me a long time, but once I could
- 1:25:06Speaker 3: build a board, that was the difference. I've built a board.
- 1:25:09Speaker 4: He didn't deal with it at that time.
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: And I busted out, I reaped, and then I played
- 1:25:14Speaker 3: Bufo and he guessed wrong. And I got basically back-to-back keys. Um,
- 1:25:19Speaker 3: but we finished that game late, like, uh, Olympio, uh,
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: And the idea, well, Mammon and Thydium had finished their
- 1:25:27Speaker 3: game on stream pretty quick and our game just kept
- 1:25:30Speaker 3: going and going. I, I do not want to see
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: it go super long. So that, that actually caused a
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: little bit of stress. Um, but I was super, super
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: happy to make up to guys like in Archon. That's,
- 1:25:44Speaker 3: it's such a hard thing to do is to be
- 1:25:47Speaker 3: able to make a run. Like there's a lot of
- 1:25:48Speaker 3: luck that comes into it. A lot of trying to
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: play your best and play clean. Um, And you got
- 1:25:57Speaker 3: to have a good deck to go with it. So,
- 1:26:01Speaker 3: I mean, all three games are streamed there. I'm now
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: in the finals. I know I've qualified for Worlds and Archon.
- 1:26:06Speaker 3: Super pumped. But I also know that you guys are
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: going to harass the snot out of me if I
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: can't get this monkey off my back and actually take
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: that first place. And so it was.
- 1:26:23Speaker 3: It was stressful because I knew that I'd already lost
- 1:26:26Speaker 3: the Thydium. I knew that my deck has three cards,
- 1:26:30Speaker 3: literally three cards that can deal with an actual removal.
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: And those three cards are going to go ahead and
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: be a Gift of Amber, Hazard Zerp, and Unstable Dale.
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: And so we get into that first game and it,
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: kind of went back and forth. There were a couple
- 1:26:52Speaker 3: of key moments, but I knew that when unstable Dale
- 1:26:55Speaker 3: was there and we were at two keys and I
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: had enough Amber, I could draw basically my cards, which
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: would most likely put Bufo.
- 1:27:06Speaker 4: I drew Bufo.
- 1:27:07Speaker 3: I had it in hand. I could slide that under
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: and then I could just finish with the reap. Now
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: I know I did reap an extra two people just
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: to make sure. Cause I needed to make sure I
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: had enough cards in hand, but once that happened, Bufo
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: went off. And I was up now game one. And
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: in the two times I'd been in the finals, I
- 1:27:27Speaker 3: had not been in that spot. So trailing behind, I
- 1:27:31Speaker 3: know the stress and anxiety. I know his decks honestly has,
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: in my opinion, an advantage over me with the board.
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: And so I'm still freaking out about that. But I
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: also know that my advantage is I have lateral shift
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: and I have to go fast. And if I get
- 1:27:47Speaker 3: the logos, if I can have that logos, I'm in
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: a great spot. Game two was wonky, kind of went
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: back and forth. But he had that board early in lockdown.
- 1:28:01Speaker 3: And it came back. That was the one game out
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: of everything that I'd played all weekend long that went
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: to time. And I did not like where I was at.
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: I think that I.
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: Had purged his spendthrift and his trink, so I was
- 1:28:20Speaker 3: super excited about that. But the board was just so
- 1:28:22Speaker 3: problematic that I couldn't make any growth. And when it
- 1:28:26Speaker 3: came to time, I was on the losing side and
- 1:28:29Speaker 3: he just needed to basically reap once and he was fine.
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: So now we're all even and I go into the
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: final game. And the final game was just, really, really
- 1:28:39Speaker 3: weird back and forth. So there were some things that
- 1:28:41Speaker 3: I definitely learned. Um, in my opinion, the infernal Terran
- 1:28:45Speaker 3: was actually a really key piece. Um, in game one,
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: I'd actually messed up and I did not go ahead
- 1:28:51Speaker 3: and cycle. I'd finished my deck, but instead of drawing
- 1:28:55Speaker 3: and continuing the cycle, um, I had Mercurial in my
- 1:28:59Speaker 3: hands and other things. I had stopped right there without
- 1:29:02Speaker 3: a draw and I literally cut myself off. So I
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: was pretty frustrated with myself on that play. It didn't
- 1:29:08Speaker 3: bite me because I was able to get game one,
- 1:29:11Speaker 3: but in game two, there was another mistake with Infernal
- 1:29:15Speaker 3: Terran that I basically played it for the steel discard one. Um,
- 1:29:22Speaker 3: versus moving some cards. And you saw in game three
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: that there were some questions, but early on, I had
- 1:29:27Speaker 3: Infernal Terran, and I essentially had a Dis and an
- 1:29:31Speaker 3: Untamed's Hand, and I made a choice to discard both
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: of my Windrose Composting, which had quite a bit of
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: advantage for me. I think it was important in the
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: matchup and kind of what was there, but I needed
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: to get rid of a dead turn, and so I
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: got rid of the I really want to see Logos
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: all day. I hate to say it, but PV Logos,
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: especially in this deck, is ridiculously broken. And I will
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: say that Thydium had mentioned in game one, he did
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: not anticipate how quickly my Logos can spin and just
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: spit out creatures. So he really focused on in game two,
- 1:30:12Speaker 3: making sure that that didn't happen. And in game three,
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: it was this kind of back and forth, like, all right,
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: what are you going to do? How are you doing it? Um,
- 1:30:22Speaker 3: we get near the end and the short answer is
- 1:30:26Speaker 3: I've now built up this untamed turn where untamed can
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: burst with the double crystalline harvest. I do have the
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: Bufo that's there. Um, but I'm essentially in an area
- 1:30:39Speaker 3: where depending on what's happening, I'm going to be restricted.
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: And sure enough, he goes and bursts with his board.
- 1:30:49Speaker 3: And now I'm stuck in, he's at two keys. Um,
- 1:30:52Speaker 3: a whole bunch of Amber. I cannot stop him with
- 1:30:55Speaker 3: what I have. So the only good news is, is
- 1:31:00Speaker 3: that they changed the prophecy for ask again, that I
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: can go ahead and burst and potentially steal the game
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: off of a Bufo. And it feels real bad needing
- 1:31:15Speaker 3: to go for that, but that's, that was the play.
- 1:31:18Speaker 3: I knew I had more than enough Amber with the
- 1:31:20Speaker 3: crystalline harvest there. I knew that I was at the
- 1:31:23Speaker 3: end of the deck and I needed to draw as
- 1:31:25Speaker 3: many cards as possible and essentially get rid of all
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: of the information so that I have my best chance
- 1:31:32Speaker 3: of not having an easy call on what's left in
- 1:31:35Speaker 3: the deck. That being said, there is no question about
- 1:31:40Speaker 3: this matchup. Thydium's guessing, we'll call it correct for the
- 1:31:48Speaker 3: two turns before that, saved me because I was stuck
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: I'd played the silver key to keep him off of
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: the second key, but it also kept me off the
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: second key and Bufo was under there. So if he guesses,
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: if he guesses incorrect, silver key goes off and I lose.
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: So like there was a lot of luck that went
- 1:32:08Speaker 3: into the final little bit, but he guessed correctly. He
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: guessed correctly. And then it left for the final time.
- 1:32:17Speaker 3: I pushed everything out. I actually called Shadows there. I
- 1:32:21Speaker 3: know a couple people were like, on stream, you kept
- 1:32:22Speaker 3: fist bumping. Anytime you see me fist bump, I actually
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: leaned over and said that was a good guess. Because
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: there were some great guesses on his part to hit
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: at key times. It was not a conceit. It was
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: definitely a fist bump of like, hey, good work. Because
- 1:32:36Speaker 3: that's somewhat what PV is, is with Ask Again, you
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: don't have a ton of information to go off of.
- 1:32:45Speaker 3: That being said, he guessed... I flipped over, and it was, well,
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: I fought so hard to make it to here. I
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: have qualified for World, but it came to a flip,
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: and he guessed wrong. Ironically, it was the Pied Viper
- 1:33:01Speaker 3: that was there, which is really the worst card in
- 1:33:04Speaker 3: this deck, and I got three of them, and I
- 1:33:07Speaker 3: revealed that it was a different house. I flip over
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: the Bufo, and I get to Forge before he does,
- 1:33:13Speaker 3: and that is the only reason that I'm a Vault Warrior, which...
- 1:33:16Speaker 3: still is absolutely crazy to me to see that walk
- 1:33:19Speaker 3: off play. Um, but it was such a close game
- 1:33:23Speaker 3: and he played it so well.
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: And I feel horrible.
- 1:33:26Speaker 3: For the idea. I mean, that he literally had played
- 1:33:30Speaker 3: all the way to top two spot for sealed and
- 1:33:33Speaker 3: then top two for Archon. So absolutely ridiculous run on both,
- 1:33:38Speaker 3: but he doesn't become a vault warrior.
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: Um, super proud already a vault warrior, isn't he? I
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: think that he was one before. I'm pretty sure he is.
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: Okay. Oh, that makes me feel a little bit.
- 1:33:50Speaker 2: I think he's a vault warrior already.
- 1:33:52Speaker 3: I can just say like having been in that second spot,
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: I know how it feels, but it, the final bit
- 1:33:58Speaker 3: was out of my hands. It was going to be
- 1:34:01Speaker 3: on him. And there was a lot of luck that
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: had to come into it. But also I had to
- 1:34:05Speaker 3: play that deck crazy in order to be able to
- 1:34:08Speaker 3: get to where I did, where I even stood a
- 1:34:11Speaker 3: chance with literally three cards and, And out of those three,
- 1:34:14Speaker 3: only one of them really had any impact on removing creatures.
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: So I was proud of what I had done. And
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: it's a pretty sweet swag. I will say the little
- 1:34:26Speaker 3: plaque that we got has been a highlight to show
- 1:34:29Speaker 3: my students. And it is promptly being showcased on the
- 1:34:35Speaker 3: wall in my keyboard.
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: I thought when you became a Vault Warrior, they put
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: it somewhere. They just have to send a deck.
- 1:34:42Speaker 3: They gave it. Yeah, they gave me a big, a
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: sweet round, like, it was the Rhea, so the actual plaque.
- 1:34:52Speaker 4: Do you know how they gave you the.
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:34:56Speaker 2: The art piece?
- 1:34:58Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, no, so you get the trophy, but in
- 1:35:00Speaker 3: addition to the trophy, there's an actual, the art piece
- 1:35:03Speaker 3: for Rhea, but that one says Archon, and it says,
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: because the actual trophy, I know it's a little bit sad,
- 1:35:09Speaker 3: but the trophy doesn't say where you wear a Vault
- 1:35:11Speaker 3: Warrior from or when. It just says that you are, it, it,
- 1:35:17Speaker 3: it's the trophy for winning.
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: It says I'm spelling his name correctly, but.
- 1:35:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I, it was amazing.
- 1:35:25Speaker 3: Um, there was a delay, but as soon as I'd
- 1:35:28Speaker 3: flipped it over, I could hear the shout from both
- 1:35:30Speaker 3: dress and sheep next door.
- 1:35:33Speaker 4: Um, I, I could, and it was.
- 1:35:35Speaker 3: Pretty incredible to hear and to see, um, still kind
- 1:35:39Speaker 3: of in disbelief, but, uh, proud to be a belt warrior, man.
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: There's a phenomenal group of people that I've joined and
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: many individuals that were super close to being able to
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: make it who I'm sure in the future will. And
- 1:35:55Speaker 3: then you can see Eric said that deck sucked to
- 1:35:57Speaker 3: play against. Yeah.
- 1:35:59Speaker 2: So, um, so, and unfortunately my, my story does not
- 1:36:05Speaker 2: end the same as yours. Um, I get to the
- 1:36:10Speaker 2: top four round. I am playing Hawks fan, which I
- 1:36:15Speaker 2: don't know anything about the deck. Sorry, I lost him
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: on stream. I didn't have enough information. Yeah, not only that.
- 1:36:25Speaker 3: You didn't see the deck because I just lost so badly.
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: We came in, I think, 10 or 15 minutes late,
- 1:36:33Speaker 2: which it was what it was, right? I wasn't going
- 1:36:36Speaker 2: to be overly... like, up in arms about it by
- 1:36:41Speaker 2: any means. You know, again, it was what it was,
- 1:36:47Speaker 2: so I wasn't going to fret about it. Obviously, I
- 1:36:52Speaker 2: did get hit with some surprises, right? Like, there was, like,
- 1:36:55Speaker 2: I didn't know he had a key cheat, you know? Yeah, Thidium. Oh, no,
- 1:37:00Speaker 2: Thidium was a runner-up. Runner-up in Nashville. Top four. He
- 1:37:08Speaker 2: is a Vault Warrior. He won an alliance in Vegas.
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: Nice.
- 1:37:14Speaker 2: I'm not sure when. It doesn't have a date on
- 1:37:21Speaker 2: here or anything like that. Let me see if I
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: can see what Arcana tells me. Ho Chi Minh, Shanghai.
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: I don't know if it tells me what year it was.
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: Yeah, well, you're checking for that.
- 1:37:33Speaker 2: 2025, he won his So he won his last year.
- 1:37:38Speaker 2: But obviously I encountered some surprises that I was not
- 1:37:44Speaker 2: ready for. The only thing I was truly ready for
- 1:37:46Speaker 2: was probably the Hannibal's Mark, which didn't really hit much
- 1:37:50Speaker 2: of anything. It hit, I think, one of my left tenants,
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: which I wasn't overly freaked out about. A key cheat hit,
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: which I didn't know he had a key cheat, so
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: that was fun. Overall, it just came down and I
- 1:38:13Speaker 2: just wasn't able to get there. I think I made
- 1:38:15Speaker 2: a play mistake at one point in time with Edge
- 1:38:19Speaker 2: of the World. I purged it for 2 Ember with
- 1:38:26Speaker 2: Last Ditch Effort or Desperate Measures. I think it was,
- 1:38:31Speaker 2: which I should have kept, because then I would have
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: stolen three more ember than I did, because we did not,
- 1:38:41Speaker 2: all tournament long, I had no problems with flank creatures,
- 1:38:49Speaker 2: except this one time. And this is the first time
- 1:38:53Speaker 2: I actually played anybody that didn't share multiple houses with me.
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: We only shared one house, which was Skyborn. He was
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: playing Oberos and Fish. I was playing Shadows and Echidna.
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: So first time I'm not sharing multiple houses with somebody.
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: So that was kind of a bummer.
- 1:39:15Speaker 3: Drastic Measures is the purge up to two cards from
- 1:39:18Speaker 3: your hand.
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: And I probably should have held that edge of the world,
- 1:39:21Speaker 2: because then I would have stolen... I would have stolen seven, basically,
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: and would have had ten going into that turn.
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: Um.
- 1:39:31Speaker 2: So maybe that was a play mistake on my part.
- 1:39:35Speaker 3: Um.
- 1:39:36Speaker 2: Maybe it wasn't. I'm not sure.
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: Um.
- 1:39:39Speaker 2: I do think my deck loses to Thydian more times
- 1:39:42Speaker 2: than not. And what he had pulled.
- 1:39:45Speaker 3: Um....
- 1:39:48Speaker 2: It's possible and it's not possible. I don't know. That
- 1:39:51Speaker 2: game we had early in the normal Swiss rounds was very,
- 1:39:57Speaker 2: very close. And if we are earlier in that game
- 1:40:02Speaker 2: and time doesn't get called, I don't know what happens.
- 1:40:07Speaker 2: He said he thought he could have stalled me longer.
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: And again, we were both about to flip, so we
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: were kind of both about to reset. So it really
- 1:40:15Speaker 2: would have mattered just what popped off the top of
- 1:40:17Speaker 2: the decks for both of us.
- 1:40:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:40:21Speaker 2: So in a best of three, I don't think I
- 1:40:23Speaker 2: beat Thydium. His deck was very, very good. So, I mean,
- 1:40:30Speaker 2: it's one of those things where you look back and
- 1:40:32Speaker 2: you and Sheep are both telling me, well, you were.
- 1:40:35Speaker 2: Your deck's known, and Sheep's like, you don't have to be.
- 1:40:40Speaker 2: You don't have to be on stream. It's one of
- 1:40:43Speaker 2: those things you don't think about in the heat of
- 1:40:44Speaker 2: the moment. Like, I'm going to go all the way
- 1:40:47Speaker 2: in and I'm going to show everyone my deck multiple times.
- 1:40:50Speaker 2: You don't think about it. I wasn't. I was just like, oh,
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: I go to table one. That's where I'm playing now.
- 1:40:56Speaker 2: That was honestly the only thing that was on my mind.
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: So whether it was on stream or not, that's really
- 1:41:03Speaker 2: all I was thinking about. Whether that ended up biting
- 1:41:07Speaker 2: me in the butt or not, I don't know.
- 1:41:08Speaker 3: Yeah. And there's some games where your deck just doesn't
- 1:41:12Speaker 3: fire off as well as others. You hoping to be
- 1:41:14Speaker 3: able to survive those games. Um, you had played so
- 1:41:18Speaker 3: well with eight wins on the first day. I think
- 1:41:21Speaker 3: that's what hurts is to come back the second day.
- 1:41:23Speaker 3: And then you're like, uh, first game out, I miss it.
- 1:41:25Speaker 3: And you're like, I got fire, but things happen where
- 1:41:29Speaker 3: it just doesn't come together. Yeah.
- 1:41:32Speaker 2: I mean, it just, again, it was, it was what
- 1:41:35Speaker 2: it was. Um, it's, it is wholeheartedly disappointing, right? Like,
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: it's just like, you see your opportunity and it's like
- 1:41:47Speaker 2: right there.
- 1:41:48Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:41:50Speaker 2: And you just can't capture it. And so it kind
- 1:41:53Speaker 2: of sucked.
- 1:41:55Speaker 3: Yeah, but you can't let it, you can't let it
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: take you down. You just got to know you're a
- 1:41:58Speaker 3: good player. Things happen. It's a game and you got
- 1:42:01Speaker 3: to come fight the next one.
- 1:42:02Speaker 2: And I just got to ball out on the LCQs y'all.
- 1:42:06Speaker 3: There you go.
- 1:42:06Speaker 2: You know, and we'll see what happens, you know, but again,
- 1:42:10Speaker 2: um i guess strong performance even though i took a
- 1:42:17Speaker 2: top eight in alliance not winning.
- 1:42:20Speaker 3: Yeah i mean you go through here so for sealed
- 1:42:22Speaker 3: shout out bumping uh shu maja orion and sutterkin as
- 1:42:26Speaker 3: top eight top four was castravir and wookiee yes and
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: then uh winner was hawks mandy and then the runner-up
- 1:42:33Speaker 3: thydium both qualifying for worlds but again any of those
- 1:42:36Speaker 3: top eight bots are so hard with 67 players really
- 1:42:40Speaker 3: really good run for alliance um interesting that they had
- 1:42:47Speaker 3: here but for a top eight alliance you have wookie
- 1:42:50Speaker 3: storm strong cats dogs and kelly's sr23 and then top
- 1:42:56Speaker 3: four was doug tater and miggy both who get an
- 1:42:59Speaker 3: invite or a pass down as a result and And
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: then the winner was Bear Bear.
- 1:43:05Speaker 4: So shout out, Bear Bear.
- 1:43:06Speaker 3: Well done, man. I believe, if I am correct, that
- 1:43:09Speaker 3: is the second win for Bear Bear this year in Alliance.
- 1:43:13Speaker 3: And runner-up being Verachter, who also had a great weekend.
- 1:43:18Speaker 3: But all top four, Bear Bear, Verachter, Dugtator, and Miggy,
- 1:43:22Speaker 3: all getting qualified for Worlds. I shout out... Virachter because
- 1:43:27Speaker 3: the side event, so I talked about the two deck, uh,
- 1:43:31Speaker 3: VM 24 sealed, uh, toot and garnish and ended up
- 1:43:34Speaker 3: going ahead and winning that the two deck talk sealed,
- 1:43:39Speaker 3: which happened on Archon and Alliance that Saturday, that was
- 1:43:42Speaker 3: Virachter who took that down in addition to placing second
- 1:43:46Speaker 3: for Alliance. Um, super, super cool. And then since I'm here,
- 1:43:51Speaker 3: I can talk pack draft, uh, flaming hobo, uh, Shouted
- 1:43:55Speaker 3: out earlier, took down one of the pods. Really sick
- 1:43:58Speaker 3: all-Mars deck. Well done, man. Bubby, I didn't hear or
- 1:44:02Speaker 3: see kind of about this deck or Sutterkin, so hopefully
- 1:44:05Speaker 3: you guys had a ton of fun. And then for Archon,
- 1:44:08Speaker 3: we had 53 players. Donpham, Comrade Bubba, Juice, and Orion
- 1:44:12Speaker 3: taking those top eight slots. Kokathi and Mammon in top four. Mammon,
- 1:44:17Speaker 3: if I am correct, had actually taken top four in
- 1:44:20Speaker 3: every U.S. vault except for.
- 1:44:23Speaker 4: Was it just the one?
- 1:44:24Speaker 3: I think there was only one that he ended up missing,
- 1:44:28Speaker 3: which is just an incredible feat, getting so close and
- 1:44:31Speaker 3: yet not being able to finish it. Yeah, and so that's.
- 1:44:38Speaker 4: A total bummer for him.
- 1:44:39Speaker 3: And then from there, we had Thydium and myself going
- 1:44:45Speaker 3: ahead and taking the final spot.
- 1:44:47Speaker 2: Yeah, Mammon did not top four in Baltimore.
- 1:44:51Speaker 3: Correct. So the one that was close to him was
- 1:44:53Speaker 3: the one that he didn't take top four and everything
- 1:44:55Speaker 3: else was top four. But that's absolutely incredible.
- 1:45:01Speaker 2: But that's going to do it for Nashville. You guys
- 1:45:05Speaker 2: can follow along. If you are following along over on
- 1:45:08Speaker 2: the Patreon, we had just finished up day one. I'll
- 1:45:11Speaker 2: be posting day two here shortly. You're probably hearing this
- 1:45:15Speaker 2: on Tuesday, so I might have everything out.
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: Cool.
- 1:45:19Speaker 2: At that point in time, I took some really, really
- 1:45:22Speaker 2: cool pictures at the Benham Nature Reserve and some of
- 1:45:28Speaker 2: the other places me and the family visited on the
- 1:45:30Speaker 2: way back. So we'll go through all of that. I
- 1:45:34Speaker 2: had a ton of fun. I want to thank everybody
- 1:45:37Speaker 2: for coming out. I thought this was an awesome event.
- 1:45:39Speaker 2: I hope they do it again next year. It is awesome.
- 1:45:43Speaker 2: Wade didn't have a badass cowboy hat, so who truly won? No,
- 1:45:47Speaker 2: this is true. I did have a badass. I was
- 1:45:49Speaker 2: the only one with a cowboy hat, and many people
- 1:45:52Speaker 2: talked to me due to my cowboy hat. Maybe I'll
- 1:45:54Speaker 2: wear it for Worlds, too. I don't know. Yeah, it smells.
- 1:45:58Speaker 2: I got to get some Febreze on it, because it
- 1:46:00Speaker 2: was hot in there. So I might have to Febreze
- 1:46:05Speaker 2: the hat, because, yeah, it stinks now. But Worlds is
- 1:46:11Speaker 2: upon us. We are three weeks away from.
- 1:46:14Speaker 3: One. That is crazy.
- 1:46:16Speaker 2: Four weeks away, I guess, depending on how you want
- 1:46:19Speaker 2: to count it. So we are literally a month away
- 1:46:22Speaker 2: from Worlds. We're going to have a ton of fun there.
- 1:46:25Speaker 2: I know we always have a ton of fun at
- 1:46:27Speaker 2: Worlds every single year. So we'll see what shakes out
- 1:46:31Speaker 2: from there. And we will see you all next week.
- 1:46:38Speaker 2: May the Forge be with you.
- 1:46:40Speaker 3: And thank you, everyone, for an amazing, amazing weekend. It
- 1:46:43Speaker 3: was memories of a lifetime. I will say that.
- 1:46:47Speaker 2: The one thing I will say before we go is
- 1:46:48Speaker 2: I really, really, really, really, really hope they do Nashville again.
- 1:46:53Speaker 2: I thought, obviously, with the turnout, I'm hoping, I don't
- 1:46:56Speaker 2: know how much this costs or whatever this is, but
- 1:46:58Speaker 2: I really hope they do Nashville again. I mean, obviously,
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: the turnout was, it is the biggest vault tour of
- 1:47:05Speaker 2: the year.
- 1:47:06Speaker 3: It had a great draw at the end. I will
- 1:47:09Speaker 3: say that it was super expensive with where the tax
- 1:47:15Speaker 3: is for Nashville. So both the hotel room and then
- 1:47:18Speaker 3: any food or drink was definitely up there. But outside
- 1:47:22Speaker 3: of that, it was an amazing experience. I also will
- 1:47:25Speaker 3: go ahead and throw out a big post at the
- 1:47:28Speaker 3: very end. If you have not checked it out, save
- 1:47:30Speaker 3: the date for December 5th and 6th.
- 1:47:34Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, the Midwest Key Forge Classic.
- 1:47:36Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:47:37Speaker 4: Midwest charity.
- 1:47:38Speaker 2: Yeah, Japapa was hitting me up to come down. I'm like,
- 1:47:41Speaker 2: that's a lot, man. You're hitting me up in October, November,
- 1:47:45Speaker 2: and now December, right before Christmas?
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: Ugh.
- 1:47:49Speaker 3: I still think that it's going to be a great time.
- 1:47:51Speaker 3: I know Sheep and I were talking about potentially being
- 1:47:54Speaker 3: able to go. It's big between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but...
- 1:47:58Speaker 3: I think it's a much better time period. Um, so
- 1:48:01Speaker 3: the nerd merchant in St. Louis is who's actually helping
- 1:48:03Speaker 3: with the organization. And so I'm super excited. We'll have
- 1:48:07Speaker 3: a little bit more details about that coming in the
- 1:48:09Speaker 3: future and I'll try and pump it at the beginning. But, uh, yeah,
- 1:48:12Speaker 3: nerd merchants and Midwest charity, December 5th and six.
- 1:48:16Speaker 2: So save the date.
- 1:48:16Speaker 3: Hopefully I can see you guys there. Yeah.
- 1:48:19Speaker 2: Well, with that being said, for real, for real this time,
- 1:48:21Speaker 2: as the kids say, we will see you all. I'm
- 1:48:41Speaker 2: obsessed with all the things I can't control.
