- 0:04Oh, I'm Jay Fallon and thank you for listening to the slippery
- 0:07slope. So for quite a while now, I've
- 0:10been of the opinion at that police in Australia, are on
- 0:14while they're traveling in the wrong direction.
- 0:16So, our state's and our territories are each, have their
- 0:19own Police Department. So, here in Queensland where I
- 0:22live, it's quite a large state by area.
- 0:26Anyway, and it is, you know, we have the Queensland police.
- 0:30Ever. So every state or territory has
- 0:31their own service like that in my opinion.
- 0:35I think we are seeing the decline, the deterioration of
- 0:40police departments in each state and territory morals.
- 0:45Ethics seem to be on the decline, within police services,
- 0:50and I believe that we are seeing this nation slowly turning
- 0:53towards a police state system. It is definitely a lot more
- 0:59politically motivated. Debated.
- 1:01And, as I said, morals and ethics, you know, the standard
- 1:05for morals and ethics Now, by police seems to be very low.
- 1:10There is a lot of there. We seem to have a lot of issues
- 1:14when it comes to different police departments around the
- 1:18nation. So today I want to talk about
- 1:20this article that just came through and it is about
- 1:23Victoria's Elite Police Unit. Okay, there.
- 1:27This headline says, which is from the age it says Is that
- 1:30Victoria is Elite Police Unit, acted inconsistently with human
- 1:34rights Charter. So the Victoria's police Elite
- 1:39Tactical Unit has been running high risk operations at that.
- 1:43Have resulted in serious injuries and alleged human
- 1:46rights abuses without proper planning.
- 1:49Obtaining authorization to intervene and properly
- 1:53documenting, its use of force of cording to the state speak
- 1:58Integrity body. The latest, damning assessment
- 2:02of the critical incident Response Team, otherwise known
- 2:06as cert, which was heavily involved in responding to the
- 2:102017 Bourke Street killings. By James Garcia sulis has been
- 2:15released by The Independent broad-based anti-corruption
- 2:19commission. Otherwise known as I back, the
- 2:22eye back report focuses on certs conduct at three high-profile
- 2:27incidents including the 2017. The shooting of two people at a
- 2:31CBD nightclub and the 2019 botched raid on the hairs and
- 2:37Haynes book shop in Fitzroy. That left an innocent man.
- 2:42Seriously injured. It found a series of misconduct
- 2:46risks and issues that show, cert, acted unilaterally to
- 2:52insert themselves into Police Operations.
- 2:54Without the knowledge of on-scene commanders failed to
- 2:58conduct risk. Moments of volatile situations
- 3:02even after being presented with information that Circumstances
- 3:06had changed and routinely failed to properly document its use of
- 3:11force or active or activate body-worn cameras.
- 3:15It also found, the unit was defined by a hyper masculine
- 3:19culture where more than 90% of officers are men.
- 3:23Personally, I don't think there's anything really wrong
- 3:25with that. However, it depends on the
- 3:27culture that you cultivate Anyway, going on, it says a
- 3:31Victorian police. Spokesperson said the force
- 3:34acknowledges I backs report and we'll take the time to the to
- 3:38consider its six recommendations and noted that previous
- 3:42recommendations made after those incidents had already been
- 3:46accepted. As many in the community, would
- 3:48be aware the critical incident Response.
- 3:51Team operates in a complex environment that involves
- 3:55significant risk to the public or the police and certain
- 3:58members, the It's been said, so in the nightclub shooting
- 4:02incident, I back said that cert officers did not revise their
- 4:07plan to storm the venue and confront the patron, despite
- 4:11confirming that the suspect was carrying a plastic.
- 4:16Yes, a plastic imitation gun. You hear that plastic imitation
- 4:21gun. They knew it at a dress up.
- 4:25Swingers party. Going on.
- 4:29I back off. So said, Victoria Police command
- 4:32have rejected the findings of its own internal review, Into
- 4:36the incident that demonstrated that there was safer, reasonable
- 4:41and less forceful options available, then the tactical
- 4:44response deployed by cert. Well, G.
- 4:48So then this is what I mean by police.
- 4:54Having it's really hard to take them seriously.
- 4:57When they talk about, you know, Little investigations, because
- 5:01their own findings their own findings said that there were
- 5:05safer and more reasonable less false forceful options and they
- 5:10rejected them. It's hard to take these police
- 5:13forces. Please Services.
- 5:15Seriously. So going on in this article, it
- 5:17says that so adheres and Hain heinous, the report found that
- 5:22cert intervened in the hunt for the suspect that was mistakenly
- 5:27believed to have fled into the Bookshop without Without
- 5:30informing police already involved in the operation.
- 5:34The officer in charge said that they were not aware of certs
- 5:37attendance until advised over police radio that a person was
- 5:41in custody. So it also condemned the failure
- 5:44of the arresting officer to explain to the man who was later
- 5:48determined to be innocent. Okay.
- 5:53So he this officer failed to explain to this innocence man.
- 5:59Why he had been arrested and he failed to advise him of his
- 6:03rights. In other words, what they're not
- 6:06saying here is that was an unlawful completely unlawful
- 6:10arrest completely unlawful. The officer should have, then
- 6:16been, he should have been fired, he probably should have been
- 6:19charged with something himself, actually, but going on.
- 6:22So I backed down that the officers involved in the
- 6:25incident. May have acted inconsistently
- 6:28with the Victorian chair. Charter of Human Rights and
- 6:31responsibilities the report notes.
- 6:33Victorian police has implemented a series of changes to its
- 6:37training policies and procedures since these incidences now, so
- 6:43that's happening in Victorious. Just happened in Victoria and
- 6:47but also in in Queensland here we have had a large inquiry into
- 6:53the response and the actions of Queensland Police Service
- 6:57officers when it comes to domestic.
- 7:00Violence incidents also, the general culture with domestic
- 7:05violence and racism amongst officers within the Queensland.
- 7:09Police Service. Our police services are in the
- 7:13decline. They have continued to lower the
- 7:17bar, Lower the standards when they are looking for new
- 7:20recruits purely because they have rejected or they have
- 7:24forced out a lot of older police officers, a lot of police
- 7:28officers have been leaving. Because they are so unhappy.
- 7:32So, unhappy with the direction that police services are going
- 7:35there because things are so political, because they have
- 7:38forced officers to take to take the jab things like this because
- 7:43the culture has been declining and because morals, ethics have
- 7:49been declining deteriorating. So deplorably.
- 7:53So, the answer for police services has been, hey, let's
- 7:57lower the standards for new recruits so we can get more
- 7:59Equal. So this story came from
- 8:01Victoria. As I said, there's been major
- 8:04major issues in a big investigation within the
- 8:07Queensland Police Service in Australia, our police are in
- 8:11trouble. When you allow moral standards
- 8:15Integrity to decline when you continue to overlook unethical
- 8:21behavior, when you lower standards of operators of
- 8:26officers, when you lower the standards, when you Recruits
- 8:30purely. So you can get numbers and not.
- 8:33So you can get quality, you are going to have problems.
- 8:37We are just starting to see these issues, raise their ugly
- 8:41head now in a year or two, maybe a little more, the issues are
- 8:47really going to rear their ugly head.
- 8:49We are in for a hard hard ride here when it comes to our police
- 8:56here in Australia, Australian policing is on the decline.
- 9:00Becoming a law. They are becoming a law unto
- 9:04themselves. That's my opinion.
- 9:08And I've got a lot more to say about the police, but I won't
- 9:11say it now. Anyway, that's just my plate.
- 9:13In my opinion. Thank you for listening.

- 9:19subscribe. That's my opinion.
- 9:22Thank you for listening to the slippery slope.
