- 0:00SPEAKER_02: We have some really fun text messages that are coming in about Dolly and one of them has a local connection.
- 0:06SPEAKER_02: I never knew this connection existed, but it makes total sense.
- 0:09SPEAKER_02: And here's why.
- 0:10SPEAKER_02: You know how we will hear stories of like, oh yeah, Garth hold on.
- 0:15SPEAKER_02: Garth Brooks, I just ate a piece of bacon.
- 0:17SPEAKER_02: Garth Brooks was here back in his young days and played like the Troy Fair or something like that.
- 0:21SPEAKER_02: You hear those like icons who have passed through our area.
- 0:24SPEAKER_02: Did you know Dolly did too?
- 0:26SPEAKER_02: So this was put on, and I just started following this page.
- 0:30SPEAKER_02: What's happening in Hornell?
- 0:32SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: I never I sound like I know what I'm doing.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, that's it.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: What's happening in Hornell?
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: You know what they're doing?
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: They're putting in the most annoying roundabouts that you've ever experienced in your life.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: That'll be a fun drive into town.
- 0:43SPEAKER_02: Well, let me tell you Dolly Parton's connection to the area.
- 0:46SPEAKER_02: So the late legend who passed away yesterday stopped at the to eat at the Big Elms restaurant.
- 0:52SPEAKER_02: So I looked this up.
- 0:54SPEAKER_02: Big Elms closed in 1989, just so you know.
- 0:56SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 0:57SPEAKER_02: She was visiting the Angelica Fair when her tour bus air conditioner broke down and her mechanic had to borrow a radiator pan from a nearby local garage.
- 1:07SPEAKER_02: According to Stewart's website, this is this is Stewart's service, local garage.
- 1:11SPEAKER_02: According to Stewart's website, website, Harold Stewart, his favorite story is about the night that Dolly Parton borrowed my bedpan.
- 1:20SPEAKER_02: The bedpan with the phrasing was the radiator pan.
- 1:25SPEAKER_02: The garage playfully would call it the bedpan.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: So he would whoever Harold Stewart is, so Harold, you know, God bless.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: Anyway, Harold Shout out to Harold.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Not sure if he's still with us, but shout out to him.
- 1:35SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 1:36SPEAKER_02: But he said it was the night that Dolly Parton borrowed my bedpan.
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: She was at the Angelica Fair and they stopped at the Big Elms to eat.
- 1:43SPEAKER_02: The air conditioner had quit on her bus, so the mechanic came to the garage and borrowed our but our radiator pan, which now they call the bed pan to drain it.
- 1:51SPEAKER_02: True story.
- 1:52SPEAKER_02: How cool is that?
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: Oh, I totally believe it's a true story.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Crazy things like that happen all the time.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: You know, it's interesting.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: I came across something yesterday, and the timing of this is kind of perfect.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: So if if if you think about one thing specific to Dolly, is she obviously was very loud with her look, which is cool.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: She was able to do it.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: But also, I think she wanted to inspire a lot of people to be able to be bold with their looks.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: Whether it is, you know, it inspired someone to get a little out of their comfort zone or uh, you know, maybe experiment a little bit and try something.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: Uh, you know, and maybe for some people, it just didn't do anything except you looked at her and you're like, well, she's cool, she can pull it off.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: I can't, whatever.
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: Let me read you a Dolly quote that goes right in line with what you're saying.
- 2:37SPEAKER_02: She once said, if you don't like the road you're walking, start paving another one.
- 2:42SPEAKER_02: She also had said, uh, hold on a second.
- 2:45SPEAKER_02: She was one of those people that was like, just oh, oh, here it is.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Oh, she had a great quote for everything.
- 2:49SPEAKER_02: Find out who you are and do it on purpose.
- 2:52SPEAKER_02: So she was always a big proponent of being yourself.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: Now, in respect to that, I'm gonna play this audio clip for you.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: This woman explains, and this one's interesting to me, on the heels of us just saying how Dolly wanted people to be able to be, you know, themselves, be out there, be bold, paving their way.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Pave their way.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: This woman wants to explain how women who wear the shortest shorts have the most insecurities.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: And I'm I'm like, but you're showing a lot, so let's hear it.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: The shorter the shorts, the bigger the insecurity.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: And I bet you've noticed it too.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: Those girls at the gym with the micro shorts with everything showing.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: The girls going out at night wearing nothing but tiny little skirts and tops so small that they look like they forgot half their clothes.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: And they call it confidence.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: No honey.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: But that's all she says.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: She doesn't go further into why.
- 3:46SPEAKER_02: And I'm I'm I can't, I I just can't agree with that.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: Whenever I'm showing the most skin is when I'm feeling the most confident.
- 3:53SPEAKER_02: When I have put on a pound or two, then that's when I'm like, where's my shawl?
- 3:58SPEAKER_02: Where's my big shirt?
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: And where's my joggers?
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: I'm not tucking anything in, I'm not wearing a belt, I'm not accentuating anything.
- 4:07SPEAKER_02: Now, I can't see the the correlation on that.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: Now, let me let me say this much.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: And part of this could be coming from the fact that I have two daughters.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: So I ultimately know at some point in time that there are going to be boundaries that are going to be pushed by clothing.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: Actually, didn't have that with my oldest daughter.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: She was not into that style whatsoever.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: We shall like a Billy Eilish.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: We shall see where it things go with Lydia.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: Uh, and am I fully prepared for it?
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: No.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: Well, I probably have the very dad response of please go put some clothes on before you actually leave the house.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: And every father or and and mother that has heard a father say that or a mother that has said that has said the same thing.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: But I also am struggling a little bit with it.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: It's wait, you're trying to correlate showing more with lack of confidence.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: And the only reason maybe I can understand that is that's the wrong way to get attention.
- 5:04SPEAKER_02: I was thinking, even fake it till you make it.
- 5:06SPEAKER_02: This text just came in from 3836.
- 5:09SPEAKER_02: I agree with you, Allie.
- 5:10SPEAKER_02: Anytime that I feel fluffy, the baggier the close.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: I do love the term fluffy.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Me too.
- 5:15SPEAKER_02: Kind of like how I'm feeling today because I've sorry.
- 5:18SPEAKER_02: I haven't worn these bell bottom jeans in quite some time, and I had to literally push myself into them.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: Well, you gotta do it in honor of Dolly, along with your shirt.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 5:28SPEAKER_02: You know, when you jump up to get into a pair of jeans, I was I may have had to do that recently too.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: Okay, you won't see me in short shorts either soon.
