So the first arc that we get is the Roman Stone saga.

Technically this isn't the first thing that ever happened in One

Piece, so just a little bit of information about the history of

One Piece before this. I might butcher his name here.

He did release a couple of versions of this beforehand,

which was still called One Piece, but it seemed a bit

different and there was different types of pirates.

So there was like 2 versions of pirates.

It was good pirates and bad pirates.

I can't remember the names for them, but it was like Buccaneers

and something else or something like that, right?

And then he kind of scrapped that, and then he started all

over again with the Romance Dawn kind of stuff.

Although I don't know, I don't actually think Romance Dawn was

part of the manga. I think this is only part of the

So anyway just to get past that that there was previous versions

of One Piece, the anime starts from Roman stone and we get the

introduction of Monkey D Luffy, a young boy made of rubber who

wants to be king of the pirates. So to be king of the Pirates he

has to conquer the Grand Line which is a strip of ocean across

the world separated by the red line which is a landmass going

across the middle. Somewhere in the Grand Line,

there is an island where Goldie Roger, the king of the Pirates,

who was being executed about 20 years prior to where we find

Luffy at at the moment, he has hidden his treasure, AKA the One

Piece on a specific island somewhere in the Grand Line.

And this, him being executed, screams out saying, you want my

pleasure? You can have it.

All you have to do is find it. And this inspires loads of

people to become pirates and set seal to conquer the Grand Line

and find this treasure. Luffy, a young boy who's only

about 17 years old. I think he is at the start,

So he set sail to enlist a pirate crew of his own to head

to the Grand Line. We first see him, I think.

So he's like just, he's in a barrel that's been picked up in

the middle of the ocean by Albeda and her pirate crew,

dumped into the storage room, and he's found by a young boy,

like a little cabin boy called Kobe.

How do you feel about Kobe meeting him for the first time?

I thought he was a good person defined because he is the polar

opposite and he like he makes Luffy more Luffy when he's

talking to him because Luffy's he's fearless, he knows what he

wants and he doesn't like if anyone laughs at him he's just

like brushes off. I didn't really care.

Whereas Kobe, everyone, he's basically the bitch boy and he.

Yeah, he's a little wimpy. Yeah, he's there against his

will for Alfida. He's a little.

He cleans the decks and that's about it.

He's the slave and I did. I did like him.

Yeah, first time I saw Kobe. I hate this kid.

Like, he looks annoying. He sounds annoying.

He hasn't got a good personality.

He's just a little worse. And he does start to redeem

himself a little bit later on, like in the East Blue saga, from

what you've seen. And it does become quite an

important character throughout. And right, I think you will end

up liking them further down the line.

He is a fun favorite in the One Piece community.

Like I don't think I've read anybody that hates Kobe that is

up to date with stuff. So hopefully I think your

opinion of them will change eventually.

So I'm up to episode 80 or something now and I've kind of

seen him in the future and he is starting to redeem himself.

And I can because it's like you kind of have a redemption arc if

you didn't start over. Shit loads of flaws I think.

And so I think he's a perfect current for that.

I think the main thing that makes us hate him at this moment

is just his face, like he's going to prop a round little

like monkey type like chimpanzee kind of looking face.

He does go through a bit of a redesign, like he gets like a

more chiseled jaw a bit, and it gets a bit more buff, which I

mean, you already see him getting a little bit more buff

of where you're up to. Yeah, yeah.

But he does become a lot better. Pissed out you wise as well

because yeah, he's one of them little kids that constantly has

snot trailing down his nose because he's sniveling and

crying all the time and you're like, oh, just just go away

about just jump in the sea. But we see him as part of

Alvida's pirate crew. Alvida's not a very impressive

pirate, is she? It's just a very big woman with

a big club, and for some reason everyone's scared of her.

She thinks that she's the most important person on the season,

that she's excited that Roar Noah's a rule.

Some infamous pirate hunter is going to show up and try and

capture her and she's she's a bit useless.

This is like the first person Luffy fights as well.

He teaches Kobe to stand up for himself a bit.

And Kobe does stand up to Alveda, so he is already

starting to redeem himself a little bit here.

So it's a start at least. I love that he accidentally got

And that's the last we see of that for a while.

Luffy and Kobe get on a little boat and set sail.

start a pirate crew and he tells Kobe about his dream of being

King of the Pirates. I think he punches Kobe a few

times to knock some sense into him and let him know that if he

wants to be a Marine Admiral or Vice Admiral or whatever he

wants to be or might just be officer, he should aim for that

dream and just go for it. So they arrived at the Marine

base and the find Robert Noah Zorro tied up in a courtyard.

He's been told that he has to survive for is it 30 days

Well, I think that's one of the amazing things about One Piece

is you can hate someone one moment and love them the next,

and you never know where things are going to go.

Like someone could be the most evil character in this whole

show and the next moment you're going to be like, Oh my God,

that's why they're so bad. Like I understand now.

Empathize with this character. It well, it's it's the character

development in this series as a whole is amazing.

Joe, what it is that use off is a bit of a waste of space and

It's always going to be in a bit of a wuss, but he is useful in

Essentially, Luffy meets Zorro and tells him that he wants

Zorro, a Chinese pirate crew. Zorro's a pirate hunter at the

moment, so there's no way that Zorro can see this happening

because it just goes against everything he stands for right

now. But then find out that Zorro

won't be released after 30 days and Axe and Morgan just plans to

kill him. So this flips the table a bit

and Luffy helps him escape, goes to get his swords.

supposed to be the good guys and keeping the peace.

there's like mysteries with the World Government and what are

hierarchy to the World Government and the Marines would

like the Marines answer to. Well, there's like the captains

Then there's the World Government, which basically tell

the Marines what to do. There's a lot of secrets which I
