- 0:05Speaker 1: Good morning, Mafia. It's Monday, October 19th. This is the
- 0:10Speaker 1: Morning Charge, your daily 10-minute or less Buffalo Bills news hit.
- 0:15Speaker 1: I'm Aaron Quinn, bringing you everything you need to know
- 0:17Speaker 1: before you start your day. Let's get right into it. Well,
- 0:22Speaker 1: if you wanted a relaxing Sunday afternoon where you could
- 0:25Speaker 1: just kick back and enjoy a stress-free weekend, sorry, you're
- 0:28Speaker 1: a Bills fan, and they don't allow that. The Bills
- 0:31Speaker 1: headed back home last night after escaping from Vegas with
- 0:34Speaker 1: a 33-30 win over the Raiders, pushing their record to
- 0:38Speaker 1: 5-1 right before heading into the bye week. Offensively, Josh
- 0:42Speaker 1: Allen was surgical, passing for 255 yards and two touchdowns
- 0:46Speaker 1: while orchestrating another clutch late game drive. In doing so,
- 0:49Speaker 1: Allen officially tied Jim Kelly's franchise record for touchdown passes,
- 0:53Speaker 1: putting his name right next to number 12 in the
- 0:55Speaker 1: all-time history books. James Cook also ground out a tough
- 0:59Speaker 1: 95 yards and a touchdown on the ground to keep
- 1:02Speaker 1: the chains moving all day long. We saw more classic
- 1:05Speaker 1: Josh Allen magic too, including a wild 3rd and 8
- 1:08Speaker 1: Houdini escape in the 3rd quarter where he voided a
- 1:11Speaker 1: collapsing pocket and flipped a push pass to Keon Coleman
- 1:14Speaker 1: to keep a drive alive. Now we got to address
- 1:17Speaker 1: the elephant in the room, the defense. Kirk Cousins and
- 1:20Speaker 1: the Raiders put up 30 points and nearly 380 yards
- 1:23Speaker 1: of offense, exposing some of the back-end communication issues we've
- 1:26Speaker 1: been seeing all month long, giving up chunk plays and
- 1:29Speaker 1: letting Vegas hang around until the final minute. This one's
- 1:32Speaker 1: going to keep Jim Leonard up all week long over
- 1:35Speaker 1: the bye week as they try to correct these issues.
- 1:38Speaker 1: But at the end of the day, a road win
- 1:40Speaker 1: in the West is a road win. The Bills take
- 1:42Speaker 1: a 5-1 record into the bye with time to heal
- 1:45Speaker 1: up and get some things right on the defensive side
- 1:46Speaker 1: of the ball. Let's dive into the box score numbers
- 1:50Speaker 1: from this 33-30 win out at Allegiant Stadium. Starting with
- 1:54Speaker 1: Josh Allen, who was efficient all afternoon. Allen went 23-33
- 1:58Speaker 1: for 255 yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions. Along the way,
- 2:03Speaker 1: he tied Jim Kelly's franchise record for career-passing touchdowns. On
- 2:07Speaker 1: the ground, James Cook carried a heavy workload, churning out
- 2:10Speaker 1: 95 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries while adding
- 2:13Speaker 1: another 58 receiving on three catches. In the receiving room,
- 2:17Speaker 1: Dalton Kincaid led the team with 7 receptions for 38 yards.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Keon Coleman holed in 4 catches for 59 yards and
- 2:24Speaker 1: a touchdown, while Khalil Shakir caught 4 passes for 34
- 2:27Speaker 1: yards and a score, and Joshua Palmer added a 37-yard
- 2:31Speaker 1: chunk play. Flipping over to the defense, Terrell Bernard led
- 2:35Speaker 1: the team with 9 tackles, followed by Cole Bishop with
- 2:38Speaker 1: 7 tackles and 2 passes defended. Dorian Williams chipped in
- 2:41Speaker 1: at 5 tackles and recorded a lone turnover of the
- 2:44Speaker 1: day with his 3rd quarter interception. Davidson Igbenosa had a
- 2:47Speaker 1: busy afternoon on the back end, logging three passes defended.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Special teams were absolute money again for the Bills. Tyler
- 2:55Speaker 1: Bass was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goal attempts with
- 2:58Speaker 1: a 47-yarder, while Ray Davis provided huge field position returns
- 3:02Speaker 1: averaging over 28-yard per return, including a 40-yard explosive early
- 3:06Speaker 1: in the game. On the Raiders' side, Kirk Cousins threw
- 3:09Speaker 1: for 313 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception on 23
- 3:12Speaker 1: of 41 passings. Trey Tucker caught 5 passes for 97
- 3:16Speaker 1: yards and 2 touchdowns, while Michael Mayer added 95 yards
- 3:20Speaker 1: and Brock Bowers was 70. Stats of the day. Per
- 3:26Speaker 1: Bills PR, as mentioned earlier, a 12-yard touchdown pass to
- 3:30Speaker 1: Keon Coleman put Josh Allen at 258 passing touchdowns and
- 3:34Speaker 1: is now tied with Jim Kelly for most in-team history.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Tyler Bass has made 18 straight field goals dating back
- 3:41Speaker 1: to 2024. and is tied for the longest streak by
- 3:43Speaker 1: a Bills kicker since Ryan Lindell with 18. Joe Brady
- 3:47Speaker 1: is now the first coach to begin his coaching career
- 3:50Speaker 1: with a 5-1 record since 2022, when Kevin O'Connell and
- 3:53Speaker 1: Brian Dable did it. The Bills' 32.8 points per game
- 3:58Speaker 1: under Joe Brady marked the second most in the Super
- 4:00Speaker 1: Bowl era through a head coach's first six career games.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Only Mike Marks of the 2000 Rams, who averaged 43.7
- 4:05Speaker 1: points per game, averaged more. Let's take a look around
- 4:12Speaker 1: the rest of the conference and see how the week
- 4:14Speaker 1: 6 results shook up AFC standings as the Bills head
- 4:16Speaker 1: into their bye week at 5-1. In the AFC East,
- 4:20Speaker 1: the Patriots handled their business against the Jets 26-19, pushing
- 4:24Speaker 1: the Patriots up to 4-2 and dropping the Jets to 2-4. Meanwhile,
- 4:29Speaker 1: the Dolphins sit at the bottom at 0-5, keeping the
- 4:31Speaker 1: Bills comfortably atop the division for now. Over in the
- 4:35Speaker 1: AFC North, it's a total logjam at the top. The
- 4:38Speaker 1: Browns took down the Ravens 13-10, and the Steelers edged
- 4:41Speaker 1: out the Buccaneers 26-19 in overtime. That leaves Cleveland, Pittsburgh,
- 4:45Speaker 1: and Baltimore all tied up at 4-2, with the Bengals
- 4:48Speaker 1: right behind them at 3-2. Down in the AFC South,
- 4:52Speaker 1: the Jaguars slipped to 4-2 after falling 34-31 to the Texans,
- 4:57Speaker 1: while the Titans grabbed a 26-20 win over the Colts.
- 5:01Speaker 1: And now in the AFC West, the Chiefs stayed spotless
- 5:04Speaker 1: at 5-0 with a 22-6 win over the Chargers, and
- 5:07Speaker 1: our recent victim, the Raiders, dropped to 3-3. The Bills
- 5:11Speaker 1: sit pretty at 5-1 heading into the bye, holding a
- 5:14Speaker 1: pretty good control over the top tier of the conference.
