- 1:48Speaker 3: day one of Multifast. We're gonna spend some time talking
- 1:51Speaker 3: about that in the second segment of the show. Also
- 1:54Speaker 3: today is National poll worker Recruitment Day and Putnam County
- 1:59Speaker 3: Clerk Brian wood I had Secretary of State Mike Warner
- 2:02Speaker 3: on talking about it last week. Well, it all comes
- 2:04Speaker 3: down to the county clerks too, in Puttnam County Clerk
- 2:07Speaker 3: Brian Wood and Cannan County Clerk Vera McCormick, and all
- 2:10Speaker 3: the other clerks around the state working hard to try
- 2:12Speaker 3: to get poll workers in place. So Brian is going
- 2:14Speaker 3: to come on the show to talk about the need
- 2:16Speaker 3: for poll workers in West Virginia's for the upcoming election. Plus,
- 2:23Speaker 3: if you heard the statements I made as I closed
- 2:25Speaker 3: the show yesterday, apparently got some people talking based on
- 2:29Speaker 3: the text emails messages I received, and I'm gonna address
- 2:33Speaker 3: many of those a little bit later on. And if
- 2:34Speaker 3: you want to hear exactly what I said, go back
- 2:37Speaker 3: and listen to yesterday's show. Cheap plug from your favorite

- 2:47Speaker 3: the Baltsweed to Events Center, Patrick Street's going to turn
- 2:51Speaker 3: Blue and Gold with Tony Careedy and inside the Huddle
- 2:54Speaker 3: to benefit the United Way of Central West Virginia. Margaret
- 2:57Speaker 3: O'Neil from the United Way is here, as is Dale
- 2:59Speaker 3: Cooper Coop and Weekly will be doing Metro Neho's hotline
- 3:02Speaker 3: Life and they're starting at three this afternoon. Margaret, good morning,
- 3:05Speaker 3: Welcome to the show.
- 3:06Speaker 6: Good morning. I'm telling you my heart is racing that
- 3:08Speaker 6: I'm with Dale Cooper and Dave Allen at the same time.
- 3:11Speaker 6: Likes more than I can tell.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Is it like you've seen a professional about that.
- 3:15Speaker 6: I'm extremely humbled and honored to be with you today.
- 3:20Speaker 4: I thought it was fear.
- 3:21Speaker 6: Of I'm not scared of you. I'm just like in awe.
- 3:23Speaker 4: How you doing your honor?
- 3:26Speaker 6: Always love it when you call me that is there,
- 3:29Speaker 6: it is, But you're not going to talk about it.
- 3:31Speaker 7: Yeah, I'll tell you about it.
- 3:33Speaker 3: One of those huh. All right, it's come to judge.
- 3:38Speaker 6: So inside the huddle, day Tony Creedy coming to Charleston,
- 3:40Speaker 6: couldn't be more excited.
- 3:41Speaker 3: All right, So let's talk about Christians the benefit of
- 3:44Speaker 3: the United Way of Central West Virginia. I want to
- 3:45Speaker 3: talk about the United Way of Central West Virginia. I mean,
- 3:48Speaker 3: I have you, you and and and the staff on
- 3:51Speaker 3: you know, you've got a great crew. They were carrying
- 3:52Speaker 3: everybody a United Way. But I want to know exactly
- 3:56Speaker 3: what does the United Way Central West Virginia. Do you
- 3:58Speaker 3: give me some things that people may not know.
- 4:00Speaker 6: Sure, and we hear that a lot, so thanks for ask.
- 4:02Speaker 6: And we do two different things. So we fund funded
- 4:05Speaker 6: programs through nonprofits in our community. We fund thirty seven
- 4:09Speaker 6: of those currently and they need to follow in the
- 4:11Speaker 6: impact areas we think are important, so that's education, healthcare,
- 4:14Speaker 6: financial stability, and then the safety nets like our Red
- 4:18Speaker 6: Cross and our homeless shelters and our things like Man
- 4:21Speaker 6: and Meal and Salvation Army so shelters, those kinds of things.
- 4:24Speaker 6: So that's what we do on one side, and then
- 4:26Speaker 6: on the other side of the house you mentioned, Carrie,
- 4:28Speaker 6: we do community impact through our internal programs. So we
- 4:31Speaker 6: have the Equal Fitting Shoe Fund where we buy shoes
- 4:33Speaker 6: for kids at the request of teachers and counselors, so
- 4:35Speaker 6: it's direct connection to education. Kids get the shoes delivered
- 4:39Speaker 6: to the school, shoes go on kid, kid goes home
- 4:41Speaker 6: with new shoes, no tags, et cetera. We have opportunity
- 4:46Speaker 6: to work with my Free Taxes and taxis incomes. People
- 4:49Speaker 6: can come to our office in certain income categories and
- 4:51Speaker 6: mostly seniors and young people can get their taxes done
- 4:54Speaker 6: for free. We're able to help with things like today
- 4:58Speaker 6: and yesterday and the rest of the week. We can
- 4:59Speaker 6: put press release is about cooling stations because people are
- 5:02Speaker 6: really really hot and need to know, not just people
- 5:05Speaker 6: who may be experiencing homelessness, but people who live in
- 5:07Speaker 6: homes without air conditioning.
- 5:08Speaker 3: They're a lot of really really.
- 5:09Speaker 6: Hot and we want to care for people in all
- 5:11Speaker 6: those capacities and the same when it gets really cold,
- 5:14Speaker 6: and we help with the warming centers. What I would
- 5:17Speaker 6: say to people. And then there's two one one, right,
- 5:18Speaker 6: So we operate West Virginia two one one within our
- 5:20Speaker 6: office where you can call any time twenty four to
- 5:23Speaker 6: seven and request for your own personal emergency. So it's
- 5:26Speaker 6: not nine one one, but it's about to face eviction
- 5:29Speaker 6: or my utilities are cut off, and you know what
- 5:31Speaker 6: we hear from teachers sometimes and we really think this
- 5:33Speaker 6: is a piece of work that we're going to expand on.
- 5:36Speaker 6: But you know, just because a child may come to
- 5:38Speaker 6: school dirty for three days doesn't mean they're in imminent danger.
- 5:41Speaker 6: It just may mean they're family might not be able
- 5:43Speaker 6: to pay to get their water turned on to do
- 5:45Speaker 6: the laundry. And so you know, we want to help
- 5:47Speaker 6: people and we want to meet them where they are,
- 5:49Speaker 6: and we want to provide access to the things that
- 5:51Speaker 6: make families whole, and so that's you know, primarily people
- 5:54Speaker 6: who are working. We know in West Virginia that half
- 5:56Speaker 6: of us are living paycheck to paycheck and that's a lot.
- 6:00Speaker 6: And when you're when you're working one or two jobs
- 6:02Speaker 6: and you've got two or three kids and you're trying
- 6:04Speaker 6: to get there on a bus can be tough sometimes.
- 6:06Speaker 6: So call us is what I would say. If you
- 6:08Speaker 6: want to know more, or if you need assistance. We
- 6:11Speaker 6: can't always help, not going to lie. It depends on funding,
- 6:14Speaker 6: and which is why tonight is so important. All the
- 6:16Speaker 6: money we raise goes right into that community impact fund
- 6:19Speaker 6: so that we can fund those program partners that you
- 6:21Speaker 6: know are working in recovery and after school programs, things
- 6:24Speaker 6: like the Boys and Girls Club. All those things can
- 6:27Speaker 6: happen because people say, yep, I want to see Tony Creedy,
- 6:30Speaker 6: so I'll buy a ticket, or I'll buy five dollars
- 6:32Speaker 6: for a duck, or I'll vote for a dancer. And
- 6:34Speaker 6: you know, so we want to get out there with
- 6:36Speaker 6: the friend raisers. But the only reason we do that
- 6:38Speaker 6: is so we can put that back out into the cap.
- 6:40Speaker 3: All this stuff costs money, and I love that and
- 6:42Speaker 3: of course you mentioned the ducks and you do the
- 6:43Speaker 3: dancing with the stars saying this is also a big
- 6:45Speaker 3: event because it brings in and that's one of the
- 6:47Speaker 3: things I like about how you do your fundraising. There's
- 6:50Speaker 3: something for every one.
- 6:51Speaker 6: We thank you for saying that.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Well, I mean, and I would think it appeals to
- 6:55Speaker 3: a wide range of people. You know that the person
- 6:58Speaker 3: may not necessarily buy a duck, but they're going to
- 6:59Speaker 3: come out to talk Mountain their football, you guys. And
- 7:01Speaker 3: that's where I wanted to bring Coop in because this
- 7:04Speaker 3: is a big event every year, Coop from Mountaineer fans,
- 7:07Speaker 3: this is like and the fact that it's happening on
- 7:09Speaker 3: August first is I heard Chris and Joe Bricado talking
- 7:12Speaker 3: in the morning news this morning. It sounds good to
- 7:14Speaker 3: say we're going to be playing football at the end
- 7:16Speaker 3: of the month.
- 7:16Speaker 7: Yeah, later this month.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:18Speaker 7: That's a great feeling, is when you can talk about
- 7:20Speaker 7: that you're getting ready to play ball. I love doing
- 7:22Speaker 7: things like this. If there's anything and you know this, Dave,
- 7:24Speaker 7: with the power of radio, we do what we do
- 7:26Speaker 7: and we love our jobs and the things that we do,
- 7:29Speaker 7: whether it be news or entertainment, or sports or whatever
- 7:32Speaker 7: it is. But when we're able to take what we
- 7:34Speaker 7: do and harness that power to help something like the
- 7:37Speaker 7: United Way, we get to do what we do. We're
- 7:39Speaker 7: doing a show, we're having fun. Dave and I are
- 7:41Speaker 7: going to have our normal show today for the most part.
- 7:43Speaker 7: So there's going to be all the hid jenks that
- 7:44Speaker 7: you're used to, but when you're able to attach that
- 7:46Speaker 7: to something that has meaning and reason behind it, and
- 7:50Speaker 7: that there's meaning and reason to use radio to help
- 7:52Speaker 7: with that. I always enjoy doing this with United Way
- 7:55Speaker 7: and working with charities because that is truly the power
- 7:57Speaker 7: of community and radio and the things that we do,
- 7:59Speaker 7: and always enjoy that, and we'll always do this with
- 8:02Speaker 7: the United Way as long as Margaret keeps inviting.
- 8:04Speaker 4: Us out to do that.
- 8:05Speaker 7: As far as what they're going to find out, of course,
- 8:07Speaker 7: Tony comes He's done this. How many years Tony done this?
- 8:10Speaker 8: You know?
- 8:10Speaker 6: I think I've bet this is starting my eighth year
- 8:12Speaker 6: here in Charleston, which is crazy sauce, and I think
- 8:14Speaker 6: we did it like the next year, and so I
- 8:16Speaker 6: think this.
- 8:17Speaker 7: Yeah, So Tony comes in and this is a it's
- 8:20Speaker 7: a neat program. If you've never been before, so there's
- 8:22Speaker 7: a little bit of a Q and A session. Tony
- 8:24Speaker 7: just basically talks about his expectations for the season, mostly football.
- 8:29Speaker 7: He'll talk a little bit about basketball stuff too if
- 8:31Speaker 7: it comes up, but and you get some of the insights.
- 8:33Speaker 7: He reserves some things too. So the nice thing about
- 8:36Speaker 7: Tony is he's a showman and he knows what he's doing,
- 8:39Speaker 7: and so Tony will tease, like on sports Line leading up, Hey,
- 8:42Speaker 7: I have this scoop about so and so player, but
- 8:44Speaker 7: you're not going to find out unless you are at
- 8:47Speaker 7: the at the inside the huddle of it.
- 8:48Speaker 3: So he's going to.
- 8:49Speaker 7: Have some you know scoops. I mean, we're not talking
- 8:51Speaker 7: about you know that Deon Sanders' kids transferring into the
- 8:54Speaker 7: g or something that it's nothing huge like it, but
- 8:57Speaker 7: just maybe a conversation he had with Neil Brown something
- 9:00Speaker 7: along those lines, and some insights that he's gathered from that.
- 9:03Speaker 7: And he does a great job of doing that and
- 9:04Speaker 7: connecting Mountaineer Nation, the ones with the charitable heart that
- 9:08Speaker 7: show up at this with what they're looking forward to
- 9:11Speaker 7: in the season and kind of putting all this together.
- 9:13Speaker 7: It's really a great program and gets it just ready
- 9:15Speaker 7: for the season, because there's nothing like you. Hear you,
- 9:18Speaker 7: hear the play by play voice of the Mountaineer. He's
- 9:20Speaker 7: telling you about what's going on. Expectations are fairly high
- 9:22Speaker 7: this season. It's a good time, it's it's a good
- 9:24Speaker 7: thing to be part of.
- 9:26Speaker 3: And again we're very proud to be a part of
- 9:28Speaker 3: and bring Tony Cared into town to Dave Island showing
- 9:30Speaker 3: five Ady Livee brought to you by bright Way Insurance
- 9:32Speaker 3: the Maze Agency. They offer small business insurance through the
- 9:35Speaker 3: four major carriers, Hartford Travelers, Progressive A, Next Callers. Stop
- 9:38Speaker 3: by and see John and Sherry today thirty eight sixty days,
- 9:40Speaker 3: Valley Road, Sweet Wanted, Hurricane three zero four eight one
- 9:43Speaker 3: four two five zero night versus Brightway mas dot Com.
- 9:46Speaker 3: And you and I were talking about food, Margaret, because
- 9:48Speaker 3: that's that's uh, that's always appealing to me. It's a
- 9:50Speaker 3: tailgate atmosphere this year. Hot dogs, baked beans.
- 9:53Speaker 6: Yeah, data salad, it's going to be delicious. I know
- 9:57Speaker 6: who the chef's personally, it's going to be may be
- 10:00Speaker 6: looking at one of them night and so you know
- 10:03Speaker 6: it's a tailgate party for real. So dressed for Mountaineer tailgates,
- 10:06Speaker 6: you know, feel free to be comfortable, and you know,
- 10:09Speaker 6: it is a largely male crowd. Some of them bring
- 10:11Speaker 6: their their better halves, and some of our sponsors certainly
- 10:14Speaker 6: come as women, but for the most part, it's men.
- 10:16Speaker 6: And I just always say, you know, they're loud and
- 10:18Speaker 6: rowdy for that first hour. And when Tony gets introduced
- 10:21Speaker 6: and I tell my husband this, he looks at Tony
- 10:23Speaker 6: Creedy like he does not look at Margaret, only only
- 10:25Speaker 6: you know, and it becomes silence in the room because
- 10:28Speaker 6: people do hang on, you know, the word of Tony
- 10:30Speaker 6: and what he's going to talk about. And we do
- 10:32Speaker 6: have great silent auctions, and we have a great live
- 10:34Speaker 6: auction of Tony a seat at Tony's radio show that
- 10:36Speaker 6: people really come out for and that's super important to them.
- 10:40Speaker 6: But we've got a framed, beautiful picture of the nineteen
- 10:43Speaker 6: ninety three Miami game and so it's the you know,
- 10:46Speaker 6: largest crowd ever at Mountaineer Field and never will be
- 10:48Speaker 6: because of the reconfigure. So if you're interested in that,
- 10:51Speaker 6: you were there at that game, you remember how cold
- 10:53Speaker 6: it was the.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Day after we we talking about this early was a
- 10:56Speaker 3: day after Thanksgiving. Yeah, I remember it.
- 10:57Speaker 6: Well, there's a rumor that there were no heaters on
- 10:59Speaker 6: the Maia Me side of the field, and I'm sure
- 11:01Speaker 6: Tony's going to have some stuff. Let him know we
- 11:03Speaker 6: had it, so he's going to do that live as well.
- 11:05Speaker 6: Great food, great, just a great time. You'll get to
- 11:07Speaker 6: see friends that you've you know, cherished. We've seen a
- 11:10Speaker 6: lot of the same people every year. But it's a
- 11:11Speaker 6: highlight to have Dale and mister Weekly with us as well.
- 11:14Speaker 3: And the Baltswyoda Events Center. This is over where Baltoyota
- 11:17Speaker 3: is over on Patrick Street and what they what they
- 11:20Speaker 3: did in nineteen oh five, what they did was they
- 11:22Speaker 3: took a showroom and basically and I think hats off
- 11:24Speaker 3: to the folks at Baltoyota for doing this because they
- 11:27Speaker 3: have several events there throughout there, all charitable in nature.
- 11:31Speaker 6: Yeah, you have to be a nonprofit and you know,
- 11:33Speaker 6: you can let us know if you need that space.
- 11:34Speaker 6: But they're Shambald Bud Dixon, their team phenomenal to let
- 11:38Speaker 6: us come in and really just kind of take over
- 11:39Speaker 6: the parking lot. But it's after hours, so there's lots
- 11:42Speaker 6: and lots of parking. You don't have to worry about
- 11:44Speaker 6: that it's a big and a great yeah, and we
- 11:46Speaker 6: fill it up with chairs and tables and put Tony
- 11:48Speaker 6: up on little podium so you can get a good shot.
- 11:50Speaker 6: We got big screens thanks to ATR and our friends
- 11:53Speaker 6: Bob and at folks at American Technology Rentals, So it's
- 11:56Speaker 6: going to be a great, great night starts at five
- 11:57Speaker 6: point thirty. You can still come to the door seventy
- 12:00Speaker 6: five dollars a ticket if you come today and you
- 12:03Speaker 6: guys are.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Going to do the entire show.
- 12:04Speaker 7: Ye, we'll do the entire show if you get there
- 12:05Speaker 7: a little early before we're off the area, welcome to
- 12:07Speaker 7: come up and say hey, me and mister Weekly and
- 12:09Speaker 7: that happens.
- 12:10Speaker 4: Hell, yeah, happens a lot.
- 12:11Speaker 7: And if you come up at the right time, you know,
- 12:12Speaker 7: we'd play in or out around around five twenty. If
- 12:14Speaker 7: you come up at the right time, we might be
- 12:15Speaker 7: able to corral you in to play a little fan
- 12:18Speaker 7: interer out.
- 12:18Speaker 9: So what it officially starts at five thirty five to thirty,
- 12:21Speaker 9: you know, we do literally just at that little you know,
- 12:24Speaker 9: time for everybody to eat and drink and be merry,
- 12:26Speaker 9: and then we'll have Tony start, you know, six fifteen
- 12:28Speaker 9: ish and He usually talks not quite an hour and
- 12:31Speaker 9: then we do the auctions and wrap it up.
- 12:32Speaker 6: So it's not a late night by any means.
- 12:34Speaker 3: But it's a good time it is, indeed, And again
- 12:36Speaker 3: we've got information available on our social media and the
- 12:40Speaker 3: website will have information too. And Margaret, I know you
- 12:43Speaker 3: guys do a great job in your social media. You've
- 12:44Speaker 3: got the info out there as well.
- 12:46Speaker 6: Thank you. Do talk about the Reds and the Pirates
- 12:48Speaker 6: tickets too.
- 12:48Speaker 7: Oh yeah, we we have tickets. It's a five pick
- 12:50Speaker 7: of tickets to see the Reds and the Pirates. You know,
- 12:52Speaker 7: I was trying to find something that would be an
- 12:54Speaker 7: attractive game. The configuration for home games is not great
- 12:58Speaker 7: for this, but the Pirates are playing a lot better.
- 13:00Speaker 7: This is for September twenty. First, it is a Saturday
- 13:03Speaker 7: afternoon game, which was maybe the most attractive thing to
- 13:05Speaker 7: me about it. It's a twelve o'clock Saturday game, which
- 13:08Speaker 7: we don't get a whole lot of it. I'm sorry,
- 13:09Speaker 7: one o'clock Saturday game, which we don't get a whole
- 13:11Speaker 7: lot of those for the red So this is the
- 13:14Speaker 7: Reds and the Pirates, so you have the opportunity to
- 13:15Speaker 7: see obviously Elie de la Cruz. Maybe we'll be lucky
- 13:19Speaker 7: and Paul Skeans will be the one pitching. You never know,
- 13:20Speaker 7: but Pirates are in the hunt for the playoffs right now,
- 13:23Speaker 7: and who knows what will happen with the Red so
- 13:25Speaker 7: eight days before the season ends, hopefully they'll be a
- 13:27Speaker 7: good game to get to.
- 13:28Speaker 6: That's a reason to come now.
- 13:29Speaker 3: I'll be one of the many many prize because you
- 13:31Speaker 3: go plenty out.
- 13:32Speaker 6: I get about nineteen silent auction items, plus the big
- 13:35Speaker 6: photo of the Miami game and then Tony's radio seat,
- 13:37Speaker 6: so lots of good stuff.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Are you next book, bring your check book? You got

- 17:12Speaker 3: the inside the huddle, we talked about that, but a
- 17:13Speaker 3: development's actually going to stretch over a couple of days.
- 17:16Speaker 3: Is well. The setup started yesterday, some traffic changes and
- 17:20Speaker 3: so on and so forth. Getting ready for Multifest. David
- 17:22Speaker 3: Frisen is here to talk about. It's good morning. Welcome
- 17:25Speaker 3: to the show, sir.
- 17:25Speaker 4: Good morning, great to be here.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Thank you for me. I think this is the maybe
- 17:29Speaker 3: the first time you've been on my show.
- 17:30Speaker 4: I think it might be.
- 17:31Speaker 5: Of course, you know I'm often on Hoppy, oh state
- 17:34Speaker 5: wide show, but I think it's the first time.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Well, yeah, I had this opportunity.
- 17:38Speaker 3: I had to have you on Hoppy to make sure
- 17:39Speaker 3: you were good enough to be on this show.
- 17:41Speaker 4: Yeah, that was that was my audition.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Hoppy's my closer. So all right, So talk about the
- 17:49Speaker 3: history of Multifest. Where did this whole thing come from?
- 17:51Speaker 4: David?
- 17:52Speaker 5: Well, first of all, I want to say it's the
- 17:53Speaker 5: most wonderful time of the year. Multifest started thirty four
- 17:57Speaker 5: years ago and it actually started out of a protest
- 18:00Speaker 5: at the time led by the late Steve Starks in
- 18:05Speaker 5: terms of just making sure that what was then this
- 18:08Speaker 5: was the predecessor Stern where we got it was diverse
- 18:11Speaker 5: and fair and open. And out of those conversations it
- 18:16Speaker 5: was decided that we needed to start an event specifically
- 18:21Speaker 5: designed toward inclusion. And so with about two weeks notice,
- 18:26Speaker 5: Steve put together the first Multifest and so thirty four
- 18:32Speaker 5: years of wonderful entertainment and it continues to grow.
- 18:36Speaker 3: And were you a part of it?
- 18:38Speaker 5: Well, I was, to be quite frank, I was not
- 18:40Speaker 5: a part of putting it together.
- 18:42Speaker 4: I was part of the protests.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Okay, well you know so Steve.
- 18:47Speaker 5: And I we we worked very closely together. But this
- 18:51Speaker 5: but mostly Multifest was a vision of Steve Starks, and
- 18:55Speaker 5: I always want to make sure that that's understood.
- 18:58Speaker 4: He was my friend. He passed away this earlier this year.
- 19:03Speaker 4: And so.
- 19:05Speaker 5: While it started as a protest, it has expanded into
- 19:09Speaker 5: being just a celebration of diversity. And I have an
- 19:13Speaker 5: article in today's gazette that Multifest is really for everyone.
- 19:18Speaker 5: This whole idea of diversity that has come under scrutiny
- 19:21Speaker 5: and criticism, but that whole idea of diversity just means
- 19:25Speaker 5: everyone is included, and we want everyone to understand all
- 19:29Speaker 5: the acts, all the things we do, the diverse food
- 19:31Speaker 5: that we have, the vendors that we have coming in,
- 19:35Speaker 5: and that continues to grow. That it is truly designed
- 19:39Speaker 5: for everyone.
- 19:40Speaker 3: And one of the things I like about the story
- 19:42Speaker 3: again we're talking with David Fristen about multifest One of
- 19:44Speaker 3: the things I like about the story is, as you said,
- 19:47Speaker 3: it started as a protest, but now it's kind of
- 19:51Speaker 3: beyond that. And as you said, this has become a
- 19:54Speaker 3: very important part of the schedule for the city of
- 19:57Speaker 3: Charleston and the entire canol Voule. Absolutely, so it's not
- 20:01Speaker 3: really that anymore. It's now become a major event where
- 20:03Speaker 3: everybody's including.
- 20:04Speaker 5: And I would like to suggest to you even for
- 20:06Speaker 5: the state of West Virginia because you know, as you know,
- 20:09Speaker 5: in my travels as a diversity professional, one of the
- 20:11Speaker 5: things that that I often hear that first of all,
- 20:14Speaker 5: there's no diversity in West Virginia, and secondly, there's no actual,
- 20:19Speaker 5: uh celebration of diversity.
- 20:21Speaker 4: And so this.
- 20:21Speaker 5: Puts that that put puts that to bed, that that
- 20:24Speaker 5: we truly do have an event. Uh that is that
- 20:28Speaker 5: it's wild, it's Flida Canal Valley. I truly believe it's statewide.
- 20:31Speaker 3: And when we move beyond yeah, and when.
- 20:34Speaker 5: We do our statistics, we are getting more and more
- 20:37Speaker 5: people from not only just the surrounding places, but from
- 20:41Speaker 5: places as far away as Detroit and we even have
- 20:44Speaker 5: some people who come in from the West Coast. So
- 20:47Speaker 5: we we we are, we are very proud of that.
- 20:48Speaker 5: You know, with the out migration from West Virginia. Uh,
- 20:53Speaker 5: multifest has become like this reunion center to be quite frank,
- 20:57Speaker 5: and so many times families will have their family reunion
- 21:00Speaker 5: unions as part of of of multi festiness.
- 21:03Speaker 4: So we welcome everybody back to West Virginia.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Now, everybody automatically thinks about the music, and that's a
- 21:09Speaker 3: big part of any festival, no matter what is the music.
- 21:11Speaker 3: But there's a whole lot more, David that goes on
- 21:14Speaker 3: at these things besides just the music and food. It's
- 21:16Speaker 3: an educational thing.
- 21:17Speaker 4: Oh absolutely absolutely there.
- 21:20Speaker 5: I say that there are like three elements there. There
- 21:23Speaker 5: is the interpersonal elements because you know in these days
- 21:26Speaker 5: and times, when you when you come out, you see
- 21:29Speaker 5: people that you haven't seen since last year, and so
- 21:31Speaker 5: there's there's there's like this family atmosphere just seeing people.
- 21:35Speaker 5: But secondly, as you said, there's an educational element, and
- 21:38Speaker 5: so we have vendors. I am actually currently working as
- 21:43Speaker 5: inter and vice president at Quinnepiac University in Connecticut, and
- 21:48Speaker 5: we're bringing.
- 21:50Speaker 4: A team in.
- 21:50Speaker 5: We're bringing in to have a table to to basically
- 21:55Speaker 5: recruit for Quinnipiac here and we hope, we're hoping that
- 21:58Speaker 5: kind of thing stays. And of course our local when
- 22:02Speaker 5: you talk about educational our colleges. West Virginia University is
- 22:06Speaker 5: a wonderful partner. Marshall University is a steadfast and wonderful partner,
- 22:10Speaker 5: and of course my Ama min or, West Virginia State
- 22:13Speaker 5: University is a partner.
- 22:16Speaker 3: We had a text here somebody said they're excited about
- 22:18Speaker 3: multi Fest if we could provide the start times for
- 22:20Speaker 3: the concert couldn't find them on the website or the
- 22:23Speaker 3: Facebook page.
- 22:24Speaker 5: Well, to be quite frank, the concerts start in the
- 22:27Speaker 5: evening and so from six o'clock on, to be quite frank,
- 22:32Speaker 5: and I'd say even from five o'clock on, because the
- 22:34Speaker 5: way we normally stage that we have local acts. Then
- 22:38Speaker 5: regional acts and then the last act of the evening
- 22:41Speaker 5: is normally our national.
- 22:42Speaker 3: Acts, okay, and there are plenty of those. And again
- 22:45Speaker 3: I've got information that I've shared on my social media.
- 22:47Speaker 3: I know my man Woody Woulds from The Beat is
- 22:49Speaker 3: all over this thing too. Wood He's been a big
- 22:51Speaker 3: part of it as well.
- 22:52Speaker 4: It is exciting this year.
- 22:53Speaker 5: So on Thursday, if I may, On Thursday, we have
- 22:56Speaker 5: the legendary Chuck Brown Band and Chuck Brown and the Soul.
- 23:01Speaker 4: Searchers are they actually started.
- 23:03Speaker 5: This soandre of music called Go Go and last year
- 23:07Speaker 5: we had a wonderful Go Go band from DC, but
- 23:10Speaker 5: now we have the original. Chuck Brown died a few
- 23:13Speaker 5: years ago, but his legacy lives on. So our headliner
- 23:17Speaker 5: for Thursday is the Chuck. Friday is Ladies' Night, and
- 23:22Speaker 5: so for Ladies Night we have Mony Love and we
- 23:27Speaker 5: end with the Grammy Award winner, a Genuine which is
- 23:32Speaker 5: something for the ladies. It's not a lady, but it's
- 23:34Speaker 5: something for the ladies. Been On Saturday we have events
- 23:38Speaker 5: all day. We have Justin Young and Joe Little and
- 23:42Speaker 5: p D. Pablo and we end with the multi Grammy
- 23:46Speaker 5: Award winner Brian McKnight, and so that's a really an
- 23:50Speaker 5: exciting time. I actually had an opportunity to see his
- 23:53Speaker 5: concert about a month and a half ago in Connecticut,
- 23:57Speaker 5: and he is just a phenomenal singer, nomenal writer.
- 24:01Speaker 3: And he's been around a while to had a bunch
- 24:02Speaker 3: of hit records. I have one of the ones that
- 24:05Speaker 3: comes off top of my head. He did a great
- 24:07Speaker 3: duet with the Nessa Williams called love Is and Anytime.
- 24:10Speaker 3: It is probably his big signature signature song. Yeah, all
- 24:13Speaker 3: back to one, I forgot about that one.
- 24:15Speaker 5: Yeah, a bunch of hits. He is really really an
- 24:17Speaker 5: exciting entertainer. And then finally we have multi festas gospel
- 24:23Speaker 5: on Sunday. There's actually a multi denominational church service earlier,
- 24:29Speaker 5: and then we will have a gospel singer Clane Gavin,
- 24:34Speaker 5: and then we have a diverse hip hop artist named
- 24:39Speaker 5: Paul Wall and we end with the original Lakeside Band
- 24:44Speaker 5: and they were a wonderful group from throwback from the
- 24:48Speaker 5: seventies early eighties, and so we're really excited.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Fantastic voyage. Yes there was there big hit that coolio later.
- 24:55Speaker 4: Ahead with yourself, I hear you.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Don't ask me anything about current music. But if you
- 25:00Speaker 3: want to know anything from about you know, the fifties
- 25:03Speaker 3: to about the early mid nineties, I'm your gay.
- 25:06Speaker 5: I kind of feel the same way. Of course, I
- 25:08Speaker 5: end earlier than you, like in the eighties. You know,
- 25:11Speaker 5: I know all about funk of the seventies because I
- 25:14Speaker 5: was a musician myself, a road musician. But I want
- 25:17Speaker 5: to get give a shout out to the Multifest board
- 25:19Speaker 5: because I don't think a lot of people understand. This
- 25:21Speaker 5: is a completely non paid board. We have an executive
- 25:25Speaker 5: director Tomorrow U Banks, Minister Tomorrow U Banks. And when
- 25:29Speaker 5: Multifest is over in August, we start planning for the
- 25:32Speaker 5: next year. Literally in September we have a retreat and
- 25:37Speaker 5: so we have to raise funds. We don't really have
- 25:40Speaker 5: any type of administrative staff, and because of that it
- 25:43Speaker 5: is it is a grassroots organization.
- 25:46Speaker 3: And everything happens at Hadad Riverfront Park. Absolutely, yeah, that's
- 25:50Speaker 3: where all the music and everything. But I mean the boulevard.
- 25:52Speaker 3: I think they shut it down yesterday, Yeah, portions of
- 25:54Speaker 3: it to try to get ready for it.
- 25:55Speaker 4: That's right.
- 25:56Speaker 5: The boulevard has been shut down and the vendors are
- 25:58Speaker 5: coming in. The other thing that we have a lot
- 26:02Speaker 5: of exotic art that comes in and that you probably
- 26:05Speaker 5: can't get in too many places in West Virginia. That's
- 26:09Speaker 5: another benefit of multi Fest.
- 26:13Speaker 3: I want to close with this, David, I want to
- 26:15Speaker 3: talk about the young people's involvement in this and let's
- 26:18Speaker 3: say early twenties and all the way back to toddlers.
- 26:22Speaker 3: I mean, you bring the kids out for this, what's
- 26:24Speaker 3: in it for them?
- 26:25Speaker 5: Well, you know, first of all, as you said, it's
- 26:28Speaker 5: an educational opportunity, right that we can learn from one another.
- 26:32Speaker 5: But we actually have a kid zone that we start
- 26:34Speaker 5: on Thursday on Friday, so we actually have a kid
- 26:38Speaker 5: zone for young people, for the young adults, I believe,
- 26:42Speaker 5: just the camaraderie of the acts, particularly you know, our
- 26:46Speaker 5: local acts are very well decided toward young people, to
- 26:52Speaker 5: be quite frank, and so we want to continue to
- 26:54Speaker 5: expand we want young people to know that they have
- 26:57Speaker 5: a stake in Multifest because we have to keep this
- 26:59Speaker 5: thing going.
- 27:00Speaker 4: And so UH, I.
- 27:01Speaker 5: Appreciate the uh the question, because we are a multi
- 27:05Speaker 5: uh generational opportunity.
- 27:09Speaker 3: Somebody sent a text here David said, what would be
- 27:11Speaker 3: awesome to see some great artists A lot of us
- 27:13Speaker 3: gen xers. Remember Billy Oshan Peeble Rice under James Inger,
- 27:16Speaker 3: write him down, make a list. And I will say
- 27:19Speaker 3: this about p D Pablo Uh he is official DJ.
- 27:23Speaker 3: Okay works for us here. That's a DJ act right
- 27:25Speaker 3: from one of the seven to three. He's on the
- 27:27Speaker 3: road to pe D Pablo A Loti. Yeah, yeah, Charleston
- 27:30Speaker 3: Charleston guy and uh uh we canaw Valley guy and
- 27:33Speaker 3: he's the official DJ.
- 27:35Speaker 4: Well, that's so he'll be there.
- 27:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm presuming he will be.
- 27:39Speaker 4: That's a that's another local content. All right, we're gonna
- 27:41Speaker 4: have We're gonna make you our hype mate.
- 27:44Speaker 3: That's the I can't take the place of what he
- 27:46Speaker 3: woulds man. What he's going in the Hall of Fame
- 27:47Speaker 3: this year. You know that, don't yes your name broadcasting.
- 27:50Speaker 5: Hall of Fame and what is A is a wonderful
- 27:52Speaker 5: partner with us and in fact that he is doing
- 27:55Speaker 5: a sanctioned after party with with Multifesting.
- 28:00Speaker 3: A lot of stuff going on, David. I appreciate you
- 28:02Speaker 3: being here, but don't let it be the last time

- 31:02Speaker 3: Today is National Pollworker Recruitment Day at Secretary of State
- 31:05Speaker 3: Mike Warner on to talk about it last week. Now
- 31:08Speaker 3: the days here. Putnam County Clerk Brian Wood joins us.
- 31:10Speaker 5: Now.
- 31:10Speaker 3: Brian, good morning, Welcome to the show.
- 31:13Speaker 4: Good morning, sir.
- 31:14Speaker 3: Now is the time to start getting those poll workers
- 31:17Speaker 3: lined up. And I know that in Puttnham County you
- 31:19Speaker 3: don't normally have a hard time to get in them,
- 31:21Speaker 3: but you know that could always change.
- 31:23Speaker 17: Well, we're always looking for poll workers. If MBA's interested,
- 31:27Speaker 17: we would definitely will take their names, their numbers and
- 31:31Speaker 17: try to work them in the process. We want everybody
- 31:34Speaker 17: included in this process. Today is National poll Worker Recruitment
- 31:39Speaker 17: Day and on behalf of the clerks throughout the state.
- 31:42Speaker 17: We'd encourage anybody that's interested the police reach out to
- 31:45Speaker 17: their county clerk and contact them, let them know that
- 31:48Speaker 17: they're available, so they can get those names to the
- 31:51Speaker 17: county executive committees and see that they're part of the process.
- 31:56Speaker 3: What kind of money are we talking about? I know
- 31:58Speaker 3: what averages. It's different to different prices and different to
- 32:01Speaker 3: pay for different counties. But on average or what are
- 32:03Speaker 3: you paying Putnam County for poll workers Putnham.
- 32:06Speaker 17: County, we we UH two hundred dollars for the day
- 32:10Speaker 17: and then seventy five dollars for the school. And so
- 32:13Speaker 17: if you if you go to school and you don't work,
- 32:17Speaker 17: then you will not get the seventy five dollars. But
- 32:19Speaker 17: if you fulfill your commitment both school as well as
- 32:23Speaker 17: as the election day, it's two hundred and seventy five dollars.
- 32:26Speaker 17: So for young folks, you know that you can make
- 32:29Speaker 17: as much money there in one day as you could
- 32:33Speaker 17: a whole week at you know, Taco Bell or somewhere
- 32:35Speaker 17: somewhere like that.
- 32:36Speaker 3: It's not a bad paycheck for one day of work.
- 32:38Speaker 3: Now a great As I said when I talk to
- 32:40Speaker 3: secretary last week, it's a long day. I mean, polls
- 32:43Speaker 3: were open from six thirty am to seven thirty pm.
- 32:45Speaker 3: Poll workers arrive what time they normally get their five
- 32:48Speaker 3: five thirty or so.
- 32:49Speaker 17: Yeah, we instruct our poor works get there five thirty five.
- 32:53Speaker 3: To thirty so so basically by the time you wrap
- 32:55Speaker 3: everything up, it is a long, long day. But what
- 32:58Speaker 3: all is involved with being a pole work? I mean,
- 33:00Speaker 3: as a voter, we walk in to the to our
- 33:02Speaker 3: polling place and we you know, we check in and
- 33:04Speaker 3: we go vote. Well, what actually, what kind of jobs
- 33:07Speaker 3: are available? What exactly does does it involve to be
- 33:10Speaker 3: a poleworker.
- 33:11Speaker 17: It is a long day, but it's rewarding as well.
- 33:14Speaker 17: You know, a lot of people do it for just
- 33:16Speaker 17: their civic duties. A lot of people do it because
- 33:18Speaker 17: they're interested in educating themselves about about the process, just
- 33:23Speaker 17: because they want to see firsthand how it works and
- 33:25Speaker 17: the checks and balances. And then a lot of people
- 33:27Speaker 17: do it for the money. When it comes to different
- 33:30Speaker 17: different positions and things like that. You have normally a
- 33:35Speaker 17: set of five. There's two clerks and and three commissioners.
- 33:39Speaker 17: The clerks are more like the paper pushers. They're the
- 33:42Speaker 17: ones that you know, check the voters in hand out
- 33:47Speaker 17: the ballots, issue the ballots, do the paperwork when uh
- 33:51Speaker 17: from the standpoint of accounting for every ballot, uh, the
- 33:56Speaker 17: commissioners or more of the worker bees, they'll they're over
- 34:00Speaker 17: there at the ballot box receiving the ballots, make sure
- 34:02Speaker 17: every ballot goes in the ballot box, helping the voters
- 34:06Speaker 17: at the voting booths, and different things like that, checking
- 34:08Speaker 17: the polls, make sure there's no campaign paraphernalia and things
- 34:13Speaker 17: like that throughout the precinct.
- 34:15Speaker 3: Has there been we had a text I'm going to
- 34:17Speaker 3: kind of paraphrase this a little bit. Has there been
- 34:20Speaker 3: that you know of, and I know you're also a
- 34:21Speaker 3: president of the County Clerks Association? Is that right?
- 34:26Speaker 4: Media mania?
- 34:27Speaker 3: Past president? Okay, has there been or are you concerned
- 34:30Speaker 3: as a county clerk or any of the county clerks
- 34:32Speaker 3: or election officials that with all of the things in
- 34:35Speaker 3: the news, and by the way, there's not been a
- 34:37Speaker 3: single issue in West Virginia. But when people hear on
- 34:40Speaker 3: the news about possible threats to poll workers that's happened
- 34:44Speaker 3: in various states and so on and so forth, and
- 34:47Speaker 3: talking about rigged elections and faked elections, are county clerks
- 34:51Speaker 3: concerned that that may keep people from wanting to be
- 34:54Speaker 3: a poll worker?
- 34:56Speaker 17: We hope not in West Virginia. You know, we're we're
- 35:01Speaker 17: pretty much a steady pace type payed the state. You know,
- 35:05Speaker 17: we're never too high at the peak and never too
- 35:07Speaker 17: low the valley. We kind of keep it right in
- 35:09Speaker 17: the middle. And that's not to say that it can't happen.
- 35:12Speaker 17: We always take every threat seriously. We're constantly in touch
- 35:15Speaker 17: with the Secondary State's Office, the Fusion Center, UH, local
- 35:19Speaker 17: law enforcement, and different things like that. The legislatures put
- 35:23Speaker 17: in place some some you know, legislation in the past
- 35:27Speaker 17: that that will help us in certain situations. Should should
- 35:31Speaker 17: something like that occur. But you know, our hope is
- 35:33Speaker 17: that everybody comes votes, has a good experience voting, and
- 35:38Speaker 17: and uh, you know, just be a part of the process,
- 35:42Speaker 17: have their voice heard through their vote, not through something else.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Again, if somebody is interested in becoming a poll worker, uh,
- 35:49Speaker 3: you just need to contact your county clerk's office and
- 35:51Speaker 3: they go through the executive committees and you guys make
- 35:54Speaker 3: it real simple and answer all the questions that people have.
- 35:57Speaker 3: One question we did get can if I if I'm
- 35:59Speaker 3: a poll worker, can I be placed in my home precinct?
- 36:02Speaker 3: Or do you just put us wherever you need us?
- 36:05Speaker 17: So typically the executive communities get first shot as to
- 36:09Speaker 17: where people are replaced, and then after that the county
- 36:13Speaker 17: clerks and staff do their part. Obviously, if you have
- 36:18Speaker 17: a team of poll workers that's worked well and are
- 36:22Speaker 17: loyal to the county and you know each other and
- 36:26Speaker 17: comfortable with each other, we don't want to break that
- 36:28Speaker 17: team up to try to help somebody get in there.
- 36:31Speaker 17: But we try to make it as convenient as possible
- 36:33Speaker 17: for everybody, so as close to their home as possible, different.
- 36:37Speaker 3: Things like that National Pollworker Day is today. Brian, you're
- 36:40Speaker 3: one of fifty five county clerks in West Virginia.
- 36:42Speaker 17: I know you're a.
- 36:43Speaker 3: Busy guy this morning, had some appointments. I appreciate you
- 36:46Speaker 3: being here. We'll talk again soon, man, Thanks a lot, Sir.
- 36:49Speaker 17: Can we go go over a couple of deadline?
- 36:51Speaker 16: Oh?
- 36:51Speaker 3: Sure, go ahead, go ahead. I was keeping on the
- 36:53Speaker 3: clock for your schedule because you told me had an
- 36:55Speaker 3: important appointment.
- 36:56Speaker 17: Go ahead, No worse nowhere, no worst. I would like
- 36:59Speaker 17: to courage every to register to vote or to you know,
- 37:02Speaker 17: update their voter registration. October fifteenth is that deadline. Please
- 37:06Speaker 17: do not wait until the end. We will be swamped
- 37:09Speaker 17: with with changes and new people reader in the vote,
- 37:12Speaker 17: and I encourage people to do that because that helps
- 37:17Speaker 17: with them not possibly not having to vote a provisional
- 37:20Speaker 17: ballot on election day. We encourage people to vote early.
- 37:25Speaker 17: Early voting is a good way to avoid long lines
- 37:28Speaker 17: on election day. We anticipate it, you know, being the
- 37:30Speaker 17: presidential election. Long lines. We asked that the voters be
- 37:35Speaker 17: patient with the poll workers and thank them for their service,
- 37:39Speaker 17: because without the poll workers, we couldn't do what we
- 37:41Speaker 17: do through the thirtieth. August thirteenth is the first day
- 37:48Speaker 17: we can accept applications for absentee ballots, and then obviously
- 37:54Speaker 17: election day is November fifth, So if you can keep
- 37:57Speaker 17: those dates in mind, and anybody in Putnam count As
- 38:00Speaker 17: willing to be a full worker, please reach out to
- 38:02Speaker 17: my office three oh four five eighty six zero two
- 38:05Speaker 17: zero two option two and we'd love to have you.
- 38:09Speaker 3: All right, Brian, I appreciate you being here man, Thanks

- 38:33Speaker 3: don't know can hurt you. I don't normally spend a
- 38:36Speaker 3: lot of time talking about other broadcast stations on this show,
- 38:40Speaker 3: or I kind of keep it to our stations, but
- 38:42Speaker 3: I do want to acknowledge something from a competitor, if
- 38:44Speaker 3: you will. It has been announced the Coach Kid from
- 38:47Speaker 3: Electric one O two point seven here in Charleston is
- 38:50Speaker 3: leaving his morning show to devote more time to his
- 38:53Speaker 3: family and other ventures. I will say this about Coach.
- 38:56Speaker 3: We're competitors. We've known each other though for a long time.
- 38:59Speaker 3: And even though our stations and our companies are competitors,
- 39:02Speaker 3: Coaches class act and all around good dude. So I
- 39:04Speaker 3: do want to wish him the best. If you see him,
- 39:06Speaker 3: tell him I said he sucked. But other than that,
- 39:09Speaker 3: he's a good dude, and I do want to wish
- 39:11Speaker 3: him the best. Texas David, I will tell people, do
- 39:15Speaker 3: not work the polls. It's bad, you're a target. I
- 39:18Speaker 3: don't know if that's the case in West Virginia.
- 39:20Speaker 4: I mean don't.
- 39:21Speaker 3: I don't think that is a case in West Virginia.
- 39:23Speaker 3: But I will say this, and I will agree with
- 39:26Speaker 3: a couple of other texts I had too. You know,
- 39:28Speaker 3: when you have people on the national level talking about
- 39:31Speaker 3: fake elections and targeting poll workers, it doesn't exactly. Again,
- 39:36Speaker 3: West Virginia, I don't think has the problem, but it
- 39:38Speaker 3: doesn't exactly. You know, lend itself to wanting to get
- 39:41Speaker 3: involved in this, especially when you see the threats that
- 39:44Speaker 3: other that poll workers and election workers in other states
- 39:47Speaker 3: have had to go through, but it's not been an
- 39:49Speaker 3: issue in West Virginia. So quickly to yesterday and the
- 39:55Speaker 3: announcement that I made yesterday that I have left the
- 39:57Speaker 3: Republican Party and am now registered in dependent. I said
- 40:01Speaker 3: on yesterday's show, I struggled whether or not to say
- 40:03Speaker 3: anything about it. I switched a couple months ago on
- 40:07Speaker 3: a Friday, actually had something written out about it, a
- 40:10Speaker 3: few notes for the show that I was going to
- 40:12Speaker 3: get into on that following Monday. And again this was
- 40:14Speaker 3: all in June, but I decided to hold off on
- 40:17Speaker 3: it for a day or two, and days turn into
- 40:19Speaker 3: weeks and two months, etc.
- 40:20Speaker 4: Etc.
- 40:20Speaker 3: And I just really never had a chance and didn't
- 40:22Speaker 3: really think it was that important to bring it up, though,
- 40:25Speaker 3: But I bet I did yesterday. My reasons again in
- 40:29Speaker 3: case you missed it, and can go back to listen
- 40:30Speaker 3: to yesterday's show if you want. But my reasons for
- 40:33Speaker 3: changing really just one. The Party of Reagan is now
- 40:37Speaker 3: the Party of Trump, and I just don't want to
- 40:40Speaker 3: be a part of it. And I'm not one of
- 40:43Speaker 3: those people that says, if you support Trump, unfriended me
- 40:45Speaker 3: from social media or in real life. No, that's not
- 40:49Speaker 3: the way I see things saying with any Democrat. I
- 40:51Speaker 3: have friends that support the now nominee Kamalda Harris. Awesome,
- 40:55Speaker 3: more power to you and whomever wins will be my present,
- 41:02Speaker 3: and I hope not only the best for them, but
- 41:04Speaker 3: for the country. So I'm not that guy. I'm not
- 41:08Speaker 3: that he or she's not my print.
- 41:10Speaker 18: No.
- 41:10Speaker 3: No, if you're in a United States citizen, there your president.
- 41:13Speaker 3: So I did get a couple of comments I wanted
- 41:15Speaker 3: to read real quick. One said, thank you for the
- 41:18Speaker 3: courage you took to share your personal decision. Very inspiring.
- 41:20Speaker 3: My hope is your story or prompt others to self
- 41:23Speaker 3: reflect about their own personal political stance. I am not
- 41:26Speaker 3: asking anybody to leave any party. Okay, I'm just telling
- 41:29Speaker 3: you what I did. You as Hobby says, you do you.
- 41:34Speaker 3: One of the messages I got, yes, I said bold
- 41:35Speaker 3: move this morning, Good for you. I myself switched to independent.
- 41:38Speaker 3: I told myself I cannot be a member of a
- 41:40Speaker 3: party where Trump is considered the leader. Other factors included
- 41:44Speaker 3: Marjorie Taylor Green, Ted Cruz and other radicals. I was
- 41:46Speaker 3: a Republican voter starting with Reagan, but no more. And
- 41:51Speaker 3: another text I got yesterday from a friend said, nice commentary.
- 41:54Speaker 3: Trump is and has become a religion and active faith
- 41:57Speaker 3: where facts don't matter. So that's that. I said. Ninety
- 42:01Speaker 3: nine percent of the time. I'm still going to vote Republican.
- 42:03Speaker 3: I just hope one day the party will return to
- 42:05Speaker 3: the Party of Reagan and not the Party of Trump.
- 42:09Speaker 3: Trump is not a conservative. He does not represent at
- 42:12Speaker 3: all the values in my opinion, of the Republican Party.
- 42:16Speaker 3: But you do you, you do whatever whatever makes you happy.
- 42:20Speaker 3: I got some news headlines I want to get into,
- 42:23Speaker 3: and we will get into those here momentarily. West Virginia

- 45:43Speaker 3: The Greenbrier was founded in seventeen seventy eight, oh Ryan,
- 45:46Speaker 3: I was not there. Jim Justice bought the Greenbrier out

- 46:10Speaker 3: not part of the deal. Brad has a very very
- 46:13Speaker 3: in depth story about this post at a we metronews
- 46:16Speaker 3: dot com, and I'm pretty sure he's going to be
- 46:18Speaker 3: on with Northern Dave Wilson, who's in for Hopy for
- 46:21Speaker 3: the next two days. Brad is going to be on
- 46:22Speaker 3: the show coming up next hour to get into it
- 46:26Speaker 3: a little bit more, Tex says Dave. Don't look at
- 46:28Speaker 3: the personalities of the presidential candidates. We'll look at the
- 46:31Speaker 3: policies of the candidates. President Trump's policies have worked to
- 46:34Speaker 3: put American citizens first in stopping the invasion of illegal aliens, etc.
- 46:38Speaker 3: It is common sense, says a Texter Dave Allen Show five,
- 46:41Speaker 3: Eddie Live Brod to you part by Husband's Pizza at
- 46:44Speaker 3: your favorite Hustans this month get a large a ten
- 46:45Speaker 3: inch pepperoni pizza and an eight inch chocolate chip cookie
- 46:48Speaker 3: only twenty three ninety nine. Another interesting story of Brad's
- 46:54Speaker 3: and I guess Brad has more time on his hands
- 46:56Speaker 3: to investigate stuff now that the governor has banished him
- 46:59Speaker 3: from the press conferences. Mister Michael had a story posted
- 47:03Speaker 3: on the website, a very very long story little dig
- 47:06Speaker 3: at my coworker Brad. There, he and the governor are
- 47:10Speaker 3: at odds now and the governor even I think, referred
- 47:13Speaker 3: to him as fake news, which, well, I'm going to
- 47:16Speaker 3: leave that one alone, other than to say that's bull crap.
- 47:19Speaker 3: Former Republican candidate for Secretary of State Ken Reid is
- 47:24Speaker 3: calling for an investigation into parallels between political contributions to
- 47:32Speaker 3: boost up the campaign of the eventual winner on the
- 47:35Speaker 3: Republican side in the primary. Chris Warner, the brother of
- 47:40Speaker 3: current Secretary of State Mike Warner now Reid also bringing
- 47:46Speaker 3: up some loans that were approved by Chris Warner in
- 47:51Speaker 3: his current role with the State Economic Development Authority. Chris Warner,
- 47:55Speaker 3: for his part, released the statements yesterday, saying that as
- 48:00Speaker 3: of yesterday this was the first statement that he was
- 48:03Speaker 3: not aware of the complaint. And you know, we in
- 48:08Speaker 3: the news department have been aware of this for a while.
- 48:10Speaker 3: But when you're dealing with investigations and I know again
- 48:13Speaker 3: full disclosure, former Secretary of State employee, that we've got
- 48:16Speaker 3: calls and questions all the time, people saying, well, is
- 48:19Speaker 3: this under investigation? Well, until a certain point, you can't
- 48:22Speaker 3: confirm or deny. That's all you can say. But this
- 48:25Speaker 3: whole story links and goes back to the resignation of
- 48:30Speaker 3: Mark Scott, the administration's secretary in the Executive Branch, who
- 48:36Speaker 3: was also serving as chairman of a federally registered political
- 48:40Speaker 3: action committee called Conservative Policy Action. Now, a lot of
- 48:46Speaker 3: the funds, as best I understand it, from that group
- 48:50Speaker 3: spent here went to support Chris Warner's campaign for Secretary
- 48:56Speaker 3: of State. That is, according to the complaint, Ken who
- 49:00Speaker 3: was one of one of the candidates that was a
- 49:03Speaker 3: Republican that did not win. Kim came in third. Doug
- 49:07Speaker 3: scaff of course was second, and then ken Reid, and
- 49:10Speaker 3: then Putnam, Kenny Clerk, Brian Wood. Ken Reid and this
- 49:14Speaker 3: is his words is calling this collusion his words between
- 49:21Speaker 3: mister Scott and Chris Warner. Reid is also calling for
- 49:24Speaker 3: a state investigation into connections between Mark Scott and Chris Warner.
- 49:31Speaker 3: Reid saying that Chris Warner should have resigned his position
- 49:35Speaker 3: with the State Economic Development Authority to run for Secretary
- 49:38Speaker 3: of State. Reid is calling it a conflict of interest
- 49:42Speaker 3: since both Scott and Chris Warner worked for the state
- 49:46Speaker 3: with This is direct language from the complaint power over
- 49:51Speaker 3: multiple contracts while soliciting funds end quote. Now, it's a
- 49:56Speaker 3: whole lot to get into, and it involves a lot
- 50:00Speaker 3: lot of people and a lot of companies. And I
- 50:03Speaker 3: would urge you to go to the website wv metronews
- 50:06Speaker 3: dot com and read Brad's story on this. And it's
- 50:08Speaker 3: also important to remember that these are just accusations. This
- 50:11Speaker 3: is part of an official on the record complaint filed
- 50:14Speaker 3: with the Secretary of States Office, So all these are
- 50:17Speaker 3: just accusations. I know Chris Warner did at least one,
- 50:20Speaker 3: maybe two emails to the media yesterday with his part
- 50:24Speaker 3: in this. So I will say, and I know that
- 50:27Speaker 3: Brad reached out to Chris Warner, but anytime that any
- 50:31Speaker 3: of these parties involved, and I think I also speak
- 50:33Speaker 3: for talk Line or for Brad, anytime any of these
- 50:37Speaker 3: parties want to go on the show, all they got
- 50:38Speaker 3: to do is reach out to us, and I'd be
- 50:40Speaker 3: glad to have them on, got them all on in
- 50:42Speaker 3: the passes, in one role or another, and be glad
- 50:45Speaker 3: to have them on again. But this story, though, I think,
- 50:50Speaker 3: and I've been talking about it for a couple of weeks,
- 50:52Speaker 3: I think it's got a whole lot of different layers
- 50:54Speaker 3: to it, and I think you're going to hear a
- 50:56Speaker 3: whole lot more about it. And it's not just as
- 50:59Speaker 3: it relates to this race or to Mark Scott's There
- 51:03Speaker 3: are if you go and read Brad's story, there are
- 51:07Speaker 3: a lot of a lot of big names that are mentioned.
- 51:10Speaker 3: I don't even want to say implicated, because that that
- 51:13Speaker 3: that appears that you're saying someone's guilty, and I'm not.
- 51:15Speaker 3: I'm just talking about what the complaints said. Former candidate
- 51:19Speaker 3: for governor and auto dealer Bill Cole's name is also
- 51:23Speaker 3: being thrown around in the story as well. It is
- 51:25Speaker 3: a long, long story. Brad's done a lot of work
- 51:28Speaker 3: on it. I know other media outlets in the state
- 51:30Speaker 3: are also working on it. So go read bradstorywv Metronews
- 51:33Speaker 3: dot com and there's going to be a whole lot
- 51:34Speaker 3: more to follow, I am sure in the coming days. Texas.
- 51:39Speaker 3: Dave was our Brad really banned from Governor Justice's press
- 51:43Speaker 3: conferences just too dead. Well, they don't call his name anymore,
- 51:47Speaker 3: and that's the way they work.
- 51:48Speaker 8: Now.
- 51:48Speaker 3: You got to have your name called, and I don't
- 51:50Speaker 3: think that Brad gets his name called anymore. The governor
- 51:54Speaker 3: I think upset because Brad was asking questions about the
- 51:56Speaker 3: financial interest and in low and behold. Now the Greenbrier
- 52:00Speaker 3: is on the auction block. Dave Alento and five and
