- 0:06Hello and welcome to a very special episode of What Do You
- 0:10Call It Podcast. I'm your host, GB.
- 0:15Today's guest is a dropkicker, A captivating dancer and a true
- 0:20diva. Please welcome Electrics to the
- 0:23podcast. Electrics, how you been?
- 0:26I'm doing very good, thank you. How are you?
- 0:29Not too bad, not too bad at all. How your fever is around the
- 0:32corner of me. So yeah, I'm kind of feeling the
- 0:34effects already. But in general, I can't
- 0:36complain. Life is not too bad for me, but
- 0:39I'm not going to talk about my life because I do that enough on
- 0:42the podcast is talk about you, your persona and your wrestling
- 0:45career. So far.
- 0:46However, I've got 2 questions that came into my inbox on
- 0:51social media today. So let's start off with the
- 0:55first question. The question comes from my good
- 0:57friend Dan from the HCW Show. And Dan wants to know, what's
- 1:02been your favorite moment in your career so far?
- 1:06Oh wow, that's a great question. My favorite moment in my career
- 1:13so far considering I've not had a very long career.
- 1:17I'm still very new in today's. I actually do feel like I'm
- 1:20blessed enough to have quite a few a moment, but the number one
- 1:24would probably have to be when I made my debut in ring debut at
- 1:29UKPW and that was in, I think it was like a nine person battle
- 1:35royal match for the British Fight Design Championship.
- 1:38So I think my first match being for a championship, that was
- 1:41amazing, but also pretty much everyone within that match, we
- 1:46were all making our debuts. So that was a really cool moment
- 1:50in the sense that we were all kind of in it together.
- 1:53Greg Burridge was there as well with us.
- 1:55Just to have our trainer by our side and just the buzz
- 1:58throughout before the show, how excited and nervous we all were,
- 2:03and then going out and doing the show, which was an amazing
- 2:06introduction to the whole world of electrics and just the
- 2:10support of the crowd. So I think that is definitely
- 2:14the number one highlight of many that I've been blessed to have
- 2:17so far. Wicked, wicked good answer and
- 2:21thank you very much for the question, Dan.
- 2:22I appreciate it. Second and last question may
- 2:26come from a enemy, Jasmine, a fantastic former guest on the
- 2:31podcast. Jasmine has asked why are you so
- 2:34jealous of them and why are you scared to fight them?
- 2:38Oh I think it's not jealousy. My issue is the spotlight is
- 2:43made for stars such as myself. Jasmine, Jasmine, Jasmine,
- 2:48whatever they want to call themselves, as we saw, are
- 2:51actually the help. So I'm not sure if you were
- 2:53there at the first Emporium. Sure, they need to be cleaning
- 2:55the ring, making sure everything's good and ready for
- 2:59me. So it's not that I'm jealous of
- 3:01them. I just want them to get out of
- 3:02my way so I can give the people what they want to see.
- 3:06In terms of me not fighting them, I've already given them a
- 3:10shot to the back of the head with a chair.
- 3:12If they want another one that can be arranged.
- 3:14So just give me the time and the place and I will be there.
- 3:19I hope you had the answer, Jasmine.
- 3:23I'm not getting involved. I'm just the middleman, the guy
- 3:25with the mic. But I do love to see a good
- 3:28fight, so I'm very excited to see.
- 3:31We need to eventually face off one-on-one.
- 3:33It's going to be great. It's going to be awesome.
- 3:35So yeah, I will touch on Emporium and Greg and various
- 3:39things that happened in your career.
- 3:41But before I do that lecture, it's what I want to know is what
- 3:44first drew you to professional wrestling and when did you
- 3:47realize it could be more than just a passion?
- 3:53I am. I kind of remember just watching
- 3:54wrestling pretty much since the day that I was born.
- 3:57It was always on in the house and so I kind of just grew up
- 4:01watching wrestling. I think before I actually got
- 4:04into the whole wrestling move and some kind of things, I was
- 4:08really intrigued by the different characters, the
- 4:10storylines, how everything was so much larger than life.
- 4:15So I think growing up, I loved the idea of good versus evil.
- 4:20I was always attracted to the evil and just all the different
- 4:23personalities, like people like The Undertaker, Demolition, The
- 4:28Ultimate Warrior and then going into the attitude.
- 4:30Era metrics is old school. I've got time for that.
- 4:35Yes, yes, I love the old school and then straight into the
- 4:40Attitude Era as well, where I think my wrestling fandom kind
- 4:45of peaked. It was a lot of it was about the
- 4:48characters for me, and that's kind of what kind of what drew
- 4:50me into it. And in terms of taking it beyond
- 4:54to just being a viewer, that happened very, very late in
- 4:59life, I would say it's not something that I ever
- 5:03considered. I'm kind of watching wrestling.
- 5:05I never really saw anyone who kind of looked like me.
- 5:09Like I said, everyone was, you know, a lot more, bigger, larger
- 5:12than life, and it just never crossed my mind.
- 5:16Then around maybe 2010, I kind of took a step back from
- 5:19watching wrestling in general. No particular reason, just life
- 5:23with Life, Inc, but just the idea of being in the ring was
- 5:28kind of always in the back of my mind.
- 5:31And then one day, maybe like 15 years later, I thought, OK, do
- 5:36you know what? This has been in the back of my
- 5:37mind for the longest time. Maybe I should give it a go.
- 5:41I thought it would be one or two sessions that I would do and I
- 5:45could kind of tell myself I've tried it and just take it off.
- 5:50And from there, it just kind of escalated.
- 5:53Before you knew it. I was on autopilot every week.
- 5:57I was on the Tube on my way to training and then it just all
- 6:00went off from there. That's awesome.
- 6:03That's awesome. Respect you being an old school
- 6:05fan by the way. That makes sense.
- 6:06Though when I do like post like a bit of old school content,
- 6:08literally it's one of the first like I'm like yeah, wicked.
- 6:12That's awesome. Now that you've mentioned the
- 6:14training, can you walk us through your early days, sort of
- 6:18the training? What's the toughest lesson that
- 6:20you had to learn and who were your biggest influences?
- 6:24Influences. Not influencers, maybe Logan
- 6:26Paul, but both inside the ring and outside the ring when you
- 6:30were training. Sure.
- 6:35So I think with the training, so I haven't really got either a
- 6:38performance background or an athletic background.
- 6:42So the whole thing was pretty much brand new to me.
- 6:45So I think the physical side of things was definitely
- 6:48challenging, but I was definitely in the right space in
- 6:52terms of training with Greg Burridge at Burridge Fact
- 6:55Design. It was very supportive.
- 6:57I never felt like I can't do this.
- 7:00It was always take it one step at a time and I think that is
- 7:05how I got to where I am today and even now I know there's
- 7:08places where I need to develop, but I'm just taking it all one
- 7:12step at a time and most importantly enjoying that
- 7:15journey. And I think the biggest lesson
- 7:19that has really stuck with me that Greg has taught, maybe it
- 7:22was in my second session. At the time I didn't realise I
- 7:25was going to be sticking with wrestling.
- 7:27I thought this was going to be my second and final session.
- 7:30So I could have told myself, you've tried it twice and you've
- 7:33done it. That is always think about the
- 7:35crowd because at the end of the day, that is who you're
- 7:40performing for. And that is something that has
- 7:42really stuck with me. So whenever I'm kind of putting
- 7:46matches together or thinking about the character, I'm always
- 7:49thinking, how is the crowd going to react to this?
- 7:52Because for me, as Greg taught me, the other most important
- 7:56thing when it comes to doing a match.
- 7:59So I think that is the biggest lesson that I've learned.
- 8:02You're saying not sure and. Then in terms of.
- 8:06Someone see electrics in the ring.
- 8:08Honestly, just go see electrics and you'll understand just how
- 8:12loud but confident. And you've got that confidence
- 8:15from Burridge Fight Design. But I'll let you continue.
- 8:17I didn't want to interrupt too much.
- 8:20No, no worries. And in terms of influences, I
- 8:23think again, just growing up, like I mentioned, all the kind
- 8:26of old school characters where it was all about larger than
- 8:29life characters and personalities.
- 8:33And then growing up in the Attitude Era, everyone was kind
- 8:35of, everyone had the unique personality, the unique look.
- 8:40And also growing up a big fan of the Divas definitely pulled a
- 8:44lot of inspiration from them as well.
- 8:47So I think in terms of wrestling, my wrestling style, I
- 8:51wouldn't pinpoint it to a particular wrestler, even though
- 8:55I do have a lot of amazing wrestlers that I think are
- 8:57great. It's usually what I see, and I
- 9:00think, will that work for me? So, for example, my favorite
- 9:03wrestler is the Undertaker. I would love it if I could drill
- 9:07someone with the last Ride, namely Jasmine, but I know it's
- 9:10not going to happen. But I pull inspiration from
- 9:15whatever it is that I see, whether it's a match on the
- 9:18Internet, if it's something I see on a live show.
- 9:21And it's not necessarily about the wrestler who's doing it.
- 9:24It's the way it looks, the way people react.
- 9:26And I think is that something that would work for me?
- 9:32So that's kind of my in ring style.
- 9:35And in terms of in terms of outside of the ring, when it
- 9:38comes to things like my entrance and the way I dress, the way I
- 9:41walk, A lot of pop culture, I think electrics is very much a
- 9:46millennial diva. So kind of people like Britney,
- 9:51Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, all that kind of world and all those
- 9:57Divas. And then of course, the WWE
- 9:59Divas like your Sable, Maurice, China, etcetera.
- 10:05That's wicked. It's just a combination of
- 10:07everything that's influenced you sort of in your life and that's
- 10:11developed into this Electrics persona.
- 10:14I mean, what does the name represent?
- 10:16You've talked about the influence and, you know, the
- 10:18Lurk and Undertaker especially, all these individuals that have
- 10:21had an impact on your wrestling career and who you are as a
- 10:24character. But Electrics, the name.
- 10:27I want to know a bit more about that.
- 10:29So cool name that stands out. Sure.
- 10:34Yeah. So initially I was just kind of
- 10:36came up with a mood board of different buzzwords and things
- 10:39that could work. And initially I like the idea of
- 10:43the word electric because I feel like that is one word that just
- 10:46sums up me pretty much from the moment you hear my music and
- 10:52then you see me, I walk, make my way to the ring when I'm inside
- 10:55the ring. So I kind of had a bunch of
- 10:59different names with the Electric theme, and then I had a
- 11:04chat with Greg Burridge, who I think is just super underrated,
- 11:09not just in the world of wrestling, but as a creative in
- 11:12general. So I took the ideas that I had
- 11:16to him. Electric was kind of top of the
- 11:19list that I wanted something that encapsulates that.
- 11:23And then Greg had a thought and he came back with a bunch of
- 11:25names and Electrics was on the list.
- 11:28And that just as soon as I saw that it it just jump out to me.
- 11:32I thought this is it's unique. It's something that the people
- 11:36can chant while I'm beating people up.
- 11:39And it was close enough to electric, but not quite
- 11:43electric. Yeah.
- 11:45So that's kind of the story of how I got the name.
- 11:48Yeah, that's a good story. Greg seems to put such an
- 11:51importance to character. I know the wrestling part's very
- 11:54important. Very important.
- 11:55But also, I think I've said before myself as a fan, I do
- 11:59feel that as important investing is, and you can do all the moves
- 12:04you can in the world, But unless you don't have that connection
- 12:07and give the crowd reason to Boo or cheer or even react in some
- 12:11way, then them being there is kind of pointless, isn't it?
- 12:19Exactly. And I think just when I go out
- 12:22there and I see people in the crowd reacting the way they're
- 12:25reacting, whether it's positively or negatively, and
- 12:28that's kind of reinforces it, how important the whole
- 12:32character is and just having a connection with the fans.
- 12:36Because again, like I said, for me growing up, I brought you
- 12:39into the wrestler and the character before I looked into
- 12:43what they were doing in the ring.
- 12:46The shows that I have seen you involved in, including the debut
- 12:49show of Important Pro Wrestling. What I Want to Know Electrics is
- 12:53what led you to get involved in Important Pro Wrestling at the
- 12:56Genesis Cinema in London. In terms of getting involved, I
- 13:10think the opportunity came up obviously training at Burge
- 13:13Fight Design, seeing a lot of other people within the school
- 13:17being involved and I thought this looks really cool and it's
- 13:21something that I think I'm ready for.
- 13:26And again, and I think a big pot was also the venue it's in, it's
- 13:30in a cinema, where else am I going to get that opportunity?
- 13:33I think Emporium are probably the only promotion who regularly
- 13:38hold wrestling shows in a cinema of that size.
- 13:42So I thought that was really cool.
- 13:43And then the opportunity was to be involved for the championship
- 13:48and I thought if I need to be in it to win it, if I'm not in
- 13:52there, I'm not going to become a champion.
- 13:55So yeah, I think I've just been taking it one step at a time.
- 13:59All the matches I've been in have been multi person matches.
- 14:03So I think for now I'm still kind of finding my feet, making
- 14:07the most of the time that I've got scouting out the
- 14:10competition. So yeah, I think in terms of my
- 14:14journey into Emporium, that was it.
- 14:17And As for what's next, I think, I mean Emporium came in with a
- 14:22blast last year, and this year it's just going to get even
- 14:25bigger. They've just announced their
- 14:27next bunch of shows. I think there's one in June and
- 14:29one in July. They've got the Emporium
- 14:32Heavyweight Championship tournament coming up, which, you
- 14:35know, I wouldn't mind throwing my name into the hat for that.
- 14:38And of course, 2nd of May is the Emporium NRG show, which is
- 14:44going to be part wrestling show, part techno rave.
- 14:48But the thing that I'm most interested in is this is going
- 14:51to be the debut of the Soleil Championship.
- 14:55That championship looks amazing, by the way.
- 15:00It does. I, I need to get that around my
- 15:03waist, around my body somehow. It just looks amazing.
- 15:07It's kind of, from what I've seen of it, you can wear it
- 15:09around your waist, but you can also wear it around your body,
- 15:11kind of like a sash situation. And yeah, I, I just love it and
- 15:18I need it. And that is what I've got my
- 15:20sights on for the rest of this year.
- 15:23I think the Slave Championship belt is going to look great on
- 15:26electrics. Baz can do some good facts on
- 15:29that. Awesome, because if you have any
- 15:31dream matches, any error, what dream matches would you pick?
- 15:39So it doesn't necessarily have to be the old generation Golden
- 15:42era or Attitude Era, but now that you've become Electrics,
- 15:46who do you think would make a good opponent for Electric's
- 15:48past or present? I think first would have to be
- 15:53Jasmine, just because we need to sort that out once and for all.
- 16:01I think we I think we bought that a point where we had enough
- 16:03of a sneak attacking each other and talking trash.
- 16:06We just need to get in the ring and get it sorted, get it off
- 16:09and done with so I can beat them and then move on to my slave
- 16:12championship. And then I don't know.
- 16:16That's a really good question because I'm thinking it's not
- 16:19only about who would some of my favorite wrestlers be, but it's
- 16:23what our styles necessarily work well in the ring together.
- 16:30But I'm going to throw, I'm going to swap gold dust out
- 16:33there. I think he's a bit of a wild
- 16:35card and so's electrics and I think if you put us both in the
- 16:39ring wrestling wise, he'll beat me in a BUB 3.5 seconds.
- 16:45But I think I've got the mind games to go up against him and
- 16:49give him a bit of a challenge. Don't write yourself off,
- 16:53Frederick. Don't write yourself off.
- 16:56Old school gold dust for me was just, I don't think it was ready
- 16:59for it as a fan base. But if you watch some of them,
- 17:02it's like, Oh my God, how do they get away with this?
- 17:05And yeah, people didn't have to react.
- 17:06But I think some of it's fantastic and I love it.
- 17:10It's really good. Last question fun question 3
- 17:13dream dinner guests so I'm keeping with the word dream
- 17:15still 3 dream dinner guests for your dream party dead or alive
- 17:19fiction nonfiction doesn't have to be rest related but three
- 17:22people as to why I want them there give me #1.
- 17:29Oh, that's a tough question. Definitely.
- 17:37Maybe. OK, I think maybe #1 would have
- 17:40to be China just because growing up, I was a huge fan.
- 17:44And I think before she passed away, she didn't quite fully
- 17:49understand the impact she had on so many people.
- 17:55And as people would say, you know, she didn't get her flowers
- 17:57that she deserved. So I think she would probably be
- 18:01#1 just so, just so I could let her know how appreciated she is
- 18:07and how much she changed the game and pave the way for a lot
- 18:11of people. Definitely #2. #2 would have to
- 18:19be, I'm going to say Madonna because again, she is someone
- 18:29who has pushed boundaries and broken barriers just in the
- 18:35world in general. And I'm also impressed how she's
- 18:39still going, doing her thing. And I love how she constantly
- 18:44keeps reinventing herself. And that is something that I'm
- 18:47inspired by that. I don't know how far this
- 18:50journey in wrestling is going to go for me.
- 18:52But if I'm in it for the long haul, I'm thinking OK, what can
- 18:57I do to keep on reinventing electrics and keeping him
- 19:00current and relevant? Just before I ask you for #3
- 19:07what Madonna song would you pick for Electric's theme song?
- 19:12Oh, that is the that is a good one.
- 19:22It would have to be either vogue because I think that would just
- 19:25make an amazing banger. It's iconic.
- 19:32Or. Maybe something a bit more
- 19:34upbeat, like I hung up where I can do a little dance for the
- 19:40ring. At the Genesis Cinema.
- 19:45Yeah. Number three, final Dream dinner
- 19:50guest Madonna and China so far. I would have to say Greg
- 19:58Burridge, actually, because if it wasn't for him, electrics
- 20:02would not be at the dinner table to begin with.
- 20:06And he works really hard, so I think he does deserve to have a
- 20:09break, to get off his feet and sit down and have a good dinner.
- 20:13Yeah. I'm just super appreciative for
- 20:16everything he's done, not just for me, but for everyone at the
- 20:20training school. Yeah, I think again, he's
- 20:23someone who doesn't get the praise and the flowers that he
- 20:27deserves. Good lineup.
- 20:30Madonna, China and Greg Barrett love it.
- 20:33And Electrics being the host. Electrics, is there anything or
- 20:37anyone you want to call out? By the way, any wrestlers
- 20:40Emporium UK, PW anywhere in the UK, seen anywhere in the world?
- 20:44But is there anything you want to say as we sign off on this
- 20:46podcast? And how can the listeners find
- 20:49your social media? Sure.
- 20:52In terms of calling anyone out, I'm kind of training to be at a
- 20:56place where I can stay ready so I don't have to get ready.
- 20:59So I'm kind of ready for anyone and everyone.
- 21:02Of course, Jazz Bin is number one on the list, but apart from
- 21:07that, I've got my sights set on the Slay Championship, which is
- 21:12going to be crowned very soon. I don't know who else is going
- 21:14to be in the mix for that. I'm going to be keeping an eye
- 21:17on, I don't know, maybe Ray Rata, Leo Tarante, Peregrine
- 21:22Kelly. I'm keeping my eyes on everyone
- 21:27because I know they're all going going to be coming for what is
- 21:30clearly my title because I found.
- 21:32The name of the hat, because I really like the belt and it'd be
- 21:34good as a prop on the podcast. Have it there.
- 21:37I really like it. You can find it on Important.
- 21:40Progress, we'll make it happen for the next, we'll make it
- 21:44happen. So yeah, that is kind of what's
- 21:47happening next with electrics and you can find me on social
- 21:50media, electrics under Score City.
- 21:53Instagram is the main place where I am, but I'm also on
- 21:57Twitter X whatever and TikTok. Give Electrics a follow give me
- 22:04a follow my social media handles there you'll be in description
- 22:07below like this video, subscribe to the channel and keep give me
- 22:12your love and support because the podcast has been trying
- 22:15worldwide. So thank you so much everyone
- 22:18who has been making it happen so I can continue awesome
- 22:21interviews like I've just carried out today with
- 22:24Electrics. But for now, everyone, take
- 22:27care. I've got to sign on the Madonna
- 22:29song. But copyright kind of strict she
- 22:32is. So just sing in your head.
- 22:34Take care everyone, please.
