Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello everyone, and welcome into another episode of to check
- 0:11Speaker 1: O Deli. It's Andrew to check O, Eagles beat reporter
- 0:13Speaker 1: for Insidethebirds dot Com. Here. Just completed day two of
- 0:17Speaker 1: the two joint practices here in Foxborough, and I thought
- 0:22Speaker 1: the Eagles fared far better than they did on the
- 0:26Speaker 1: first day. They brought a lot of energy. There was
- 0:28Speaker 1: a lot to take away from this one. It was
- 0:31Speaker 1: really fun to watch and it covered probably around two
- 0:35Speaker 1: hours and there was a lot of situational periods and
- 0:39Speaker 1: red zone. I took note of what the defense was
- 0:41Speaker 1: doing more so than the offense. Today we'll get to
- 0:45Speaker 1: the injuries, and I have to start to get myself
- 0:48Speaker 1: together to get back to Philadelphia. So we're gonna start
- 0:51Speaker 1: with the injuries here and not practicing. Jacoreyan Bennett nee,
- 0:55Speaker 1: Grand Kakata back, Jalen Carter personal excuse, Tari Castro hel
- 1:01Speaker 1: Jonathan Jones shoulder, Elijah Moore neck, John Ujuku pectoral, Damian
- 1:06Speaker 1: Pierce hamstring, Johnny Wilson knee, Byron Young's shoulder. Limited for
- 1:11Speaker 1: the Eagles were Keyshawn James Newby ankle, wide receiver, mackay
- 1:15Speaker 1: Lemon hamstring, DeVante Smith hamstring, Sean Wade eye shoulder. I
- 1:20Speaker 1: thought this was a spirited practice for me watching them,
- 1:24Speaker 1: you know, the teams warm up and everything. I was
- 1:26Speaker 1: under the impression that there was going to be sort
- 1:28Speaker 1: of a scrap or a fight. There were some brief skirmishes,
- 1:31Speaker 1: but they were quickly separated. But I got down to
- 1:36Speaker 1: the practice field pretty early and got to make sure
- 1:40Speaker 1: I got a good spot. And I really want to
- 1:42Speaker 1: focus in on the defense today after looking at the
- 1:44Speaker 1: offense a lot more yesterday. Again, you can't really focus
- 1:48Speaker 1: on both. There's two fields going on, so if you're
- 1:50Speaker 1: trying to toggle between both, you're gonna miss a lot
- 1:53Speaker 1: of information. And so I spent my time looking at
- 1:56Speaker 1: the second field, which is where the defense was. And
- 1:59Speaker 1: before that there were one on ones, and I thought,
- 2:02Speaker 1: for example, Don Tavian Wicks had a couple of good reps.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Didn't think that rookie tight end Eli Stowers was able
- 2:08Speaker 1: to win too many of his In fact, there was
- 2:12Speaker 1: one where he had a win against safety Kevin Bayered
- 2:16Speaker 1: and the pass from Tanner McKee was not good enough.
- 2:19Speaker 1: He probably catches that one, but some of the defensive
- 2:22Speaker 1: backs were getting pretty physical with him, and he really
- 2:25Speaker 1: wasn't able to separate. There was one where Danny Gray
- 2:28Speaker 1: beat number twenty one with an inside move. Andy Dalton
- 2:33Speaker 1: fired to Eli Stowers, but number thirty four for New
- 2:36Speaker 1: England had that well defended. Kevin Byrd had a pass
- 2:42Speaker 1: breakup on Dallas Goddard Cameron Lots who beat number thirty
- 2:46Speaker 1: three inside along the left pylon. There Number twenty four
- 2:51Speaker 1: for New England ripped one away from Johnny Munt and
- 2:57Speaker 1: Dontavian Wicks beat number seven like he dragged both feet in,
- 3:01Speaker 1: but it was rolled in complete. Then I focused on
- 3:05Speaker 1: the defensive side when they got into the team portion
- 3:07Speaker 1: of things, and Drake May went along to Aj Brown
- 3:10Speaker 1: to start practice. Aj sort of that was turned around
- 3:14Speaker 1: a little bit and the pass was incomplete, but Queenyan
- 3:17Speaker 1: Mitchell was the man in coverage. He was flagged. The
- 3:20Speaker 1: next play, Moro Jomo stuffed Treveon Henderson the running back
- 3:25Speaker 1: Ty Robinson. With Jalhen Carter not playing today, he got
- 3:30Speaker 1: some first team reps. He came in on the third play.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Then you could start to feel the juice is flowing
- 3:37Speaker 1: when Ramandre Stevenson delivers a pop at the goal line
- 3:41Speaker 1: to Cooper Dejen lowers his shoulder after the play had
- 3:44Speaker 1: already been over a little bit of pushing and shoving
- 3:47Speaker 1: after that. Drake May then hits number three to Mario
- 3:52Speaker 1: Douglas on an out route.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Then the twos come up.
- 3:55Speaker 1: The safeties were Andre Sam and Michael Carter the second.
- 3:59Speaker 2: The corners were Huey Ringo and the new corner that
- 4:04Speaker 2: they signed.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Isaiah Bolden and Mac McWilliams was the nickel corner. And
- 4:13Speaker 1: I thought that Andre Sam completely obliterated number eighty four
- 4:18Speaker 1: on a pitch from on a pitch to number thirty four.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Jeremiah Trotter Junior defended a wheel route really well to
- 4:26Speaker 1: Treyion Hentererson gets the pass breakup in the end zone.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Showcase a little bit of.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Range there, that's what you want to see. Trotter Junior
- 4:33Speaker 1: had a really good set of practices and has really
- 4:35Speaker 1: had a strong summer. Jalox Hunt rips the ball right
- 4:40Speaker 1: out of Ramandre Stevenson's hands. You're gonna hear Jalox Hunt's
- 4:44Speaker 1: name pop up a little bit more. Ramandre Stevenson on
- 4:48Speaker 1: a screen. Zach Vaughn delivered a nice pop sending him
- 4:51Speaker 1: out of bounds. Then you had Tommy DeVito who threw
- 4:55Speaker 1: a go ball at number eighty six and Ambry Thomas
- 4:59Speaker 1: was there for the pass breakup. The Veto threw to
- 5:03Speaker 1: Kyle Williams in the end zone. Really good coverage there
- 5:06Speaker 1: from Sean Wade in the red zone. When the first
- 5:09Speaker 1: team came up, the defensive line was Jordan Davis, Ty
- 5:12Speaker 1: Robinson and Moro Jomo. Drake May hit a dragging Mac
- 5:19Speaker 1: Collins with Queyon Mitchell in coverage. On the next p
- 5:22Speaker 1: he threw a fade ball to Romeo Dobbs, which Riek
- 5:27Speaker 1: Wollan was able to have the pass break up. Rikwan,
- 5:29Speaker 1: by the way, was my player of the day. I
- 5:31Speaker 1: don't get grades or anything like that, but he was
- 5:33Speaker 1: my player of the day. I thought he reboutnted really nicely.
- 5:35Speaker 1: But Joemo was fired up after that play. They did
- 5:38Speaker 1: the finger wag and the seatbelt after that. Vaughn gets
- 5:42Speaker 1: a pass break up over the middle against Trey Bion Henderson.
- 5:45Speaker 1: There was a jump ball to a j Brown with
- 5:47Speaker 1: Queenyon Mitchell in coverage. He had to reach back for it.
- 5:51Speaker 1: You know he got it. And there was one where
- 5:58Speaker 1: Kevin Byern brought or I'm sorry, Andre Sam brought the
- 6:02Speaker 1: wood on Romandre Stevenson around the goal line.
- 6:05Speaker 2: I thought Andre was.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Probably get into a fight because he was flying around
- 6:09Speaker 1: and really playing with some attitude and grit. Uh. Then
- 6:13Speaker 1: you had Tommy DeVito who threw it out of the
- 6:15Speaker 1: end zone with Andre and Mac McWilliams and coverage. Michael
- 6:19Speaker 1: Carter the second I thought had a nice practice had
- 6:21Speaker 1: a pass break up to number eighty two in the
- 6:25Speaker 1: back of the end zone, who just completely rifle the
- 6:29Speaker 1: pass in there.
- 6:30Speaker 2: It was there was no touch on it.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Had it been a little bit better, a little little
- 6:35Speaker 1: bit more more touch, it probably is a completion. Jay
- 6:38Speaker 1: when Jordan Davis gets a deflection, it was a It
- 6:45Speaker 1: was a pass that was intended to be a fae
- 6:46Speaker 1: ball to aj Brown with Quina Mitchell in coverage. Jordan
- 6:49Speaker 1: Davis gets his hand up with a line of scrimmage,
- 6:51Speaker 1: makes the play there. Romeo Dobbs rises up over Rieke
- 6:56Speaker 1: wollen and that's hard to do. Rieke Wolling sixty four.
- 6:58Speaker 1: This play was well covered in the end zone and
- 7:00Speaker 1: it wasn't like he the pass was just over him.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I don't really know how to describe it, but it
- 7:06Speaker 1: was a really well placed ball there by Drake May
- 7:10Speaker 1: Dobbs catches it for the touchdown.
- 7:12Speaker 2: He chucks the ball.
- 7:14Speaker 1: That was commonplace whenever Dobbs seemed to make a big play,
- 7:16Speaker 1: he would just chuck the football. Riek Wallen he jumped
- 7:20Speaker 1: a route to AJ Brown at the goal line. He
- 7:23Speaker 1: read it perfectly, jumps it, takes it the other way
- 7:27Speaker 1: and that was a pick six. So Rik Wollen playing
- 7:30Speaker 1: with some good confidence after I thought the Patriots got
- 7:33Speaker 1: the best of them the day before. I don't think
- 7:35Speaker 1: if they were targeting them. It just so happened that
- 7:37Speaker 1: that's the way that things played out. And I thought today,
- 7:41Speaker 1: whether it was Romeo Dobbs or AJ Brown, more often
- 7:43Speaker 1: than not, Rik Wollen was there to make the play.
- 7:45Speaker 1: And that was probably some of the most impressive reps
- 7:50Speaker 1: I've seen all summer from any player, where he was
- 7:53Speaker 1: kind of going toe to toe with two receivers and
- 7:55Speaker 1: making some things happen. Tommy DeVito hits number eighty six
- 8:06Speaker 1: four touchdown. It looked like Peena guchigin Eagles rookie defensive
- 8:10Speaker 1: back was late coming over special teams. Something to note here,
- 8:14Speaker 1: some of the key members on their kickoff team for
- 8:16Speaker 1: the Eagles will Shipley, Cameron Lottu, Smilemondon Junior, Jeremiah Trotter,
- 8:21Speaker 1: Junior Ajmpins, Chance Campbell. The kick returners, they had a
- 8:26Speaker 1: few sets of them. The first set was Will Shipley
- 8:29Speaker 1: and Thank Bigsby. The second set was Brittin Covey and
- 8:32Speaker 1: Eric Azukanma. The third set was Will Shipley and Darius Cooper.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Then the Eagles offense. I watched some of the Eagles
- 8:42Speaker 1: offense and Eagles defense. The way that it was sort
- 8:45Speaker 1: of the way that it kind of settled itself out
- 8:48Speaker 1: was that it was there was a pause between two plays,
- 8:51Speaker 1: and I thought that Drake May threw through a one
- 8:54Speaker 1: play that caught my attention to Drake May threw across
- 8:56Speaker 1: his body across the field to Romeo Dobbs, who then
- 9:00Speaker 1: throw a bouncer to Tradion Henderson. The trick play didn't work.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Tommy DeVito hits Mac Hollins in the middle on an
- 9:13Speaker 1: in breaker with keithy Ringo on coverage.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Kyle Williams for New England caught a deep one on.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Sean Wade for a touchdown. Watching a little bit of
- 9:25Speaker 1: the Eagles offense, Tank Bigsby had to run up the
- 9:27Speaker 1: left side line looked like there was a flag there.
- 9:30Speaker 1: There was a short to toss to the right in
- 9:32Speaker 1: one instance to Cameron Lattu whose steam rolled number twenty
- 9:36Speaker 1: eight for New England, and Tanner McKee hit E J.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Jenkins over the middle for completion there as well. Not
- 9:43Speaker 1: a lot to write home about about the offense. I'm
- 9:45Speaker 1: gonna be completely honest. I didn't spend a ton of
- 9:47Speaker 1: time watching the offense. Most of my time was dedicated
- 9:49Speaker 1: and devoted to watching the defense. But I thought that
- 9:51Speaker 1: there were some things to take away from it. I
- 9:53Speaker 1: didn't think they were particularly sharp on that side of
- 9:55Speaker 1: the ball. From what I was able to see, New
- 9:58Speaker 1: England seemed to throttle down and rebound nicely after I
- 10:01Speaker 1: thought yesterday the Eagles were able to get off to
- 10:04Speaker 1: a little bit of a faster start. I didn't see
- 10:06Speaker 1: the runningleange quite like they were the day before. It
- 10:08Speaker 1: didn't look like Jay when Hurts was particularly sharp over
- 10:10Speaker 1: the team period, But the situational period later that we're
- 10:13Speaker 1: gonna get to tells a different story, which you're gonna
- 10:17Speaker 1: get to right now. Drake may he fires went into
- 10:22Speaker 1: aj Brown, but riek one was there for the past
- 10:25Speaker 1: Blake break up and it almost looked like he ripped
- 10:28Speaker 1: it out the way that the ball sort of was
- 10:31Speaker 1: suspended in the air there and it falls into the
- 10:34Speaker 1: waiting arms a big diving Jayalensan who makes a really
- 10:36Speaker 1: acrobatic reception to pull it in. Jywen Hurts goes to
- 10:42Speaker 1: Hollywood Brown in the back of the end zone with
- 10:45Speaker 1: seven and fourteen in coverage. He was rolled out of bounds.
- 10:48Speaker 1: It was a bullet in the middle of the end zone.
- 10:50Speaker 1: It looked to me like he got both feed in.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Then Jaywen Hurts goes right back to Hollywood Brown in
- 10:55Speaker 1: the back of the end zone with twenty eight in coverage,
- 10:58Speaker 1: makes a diving grab in the back. I thought it
- 11:00Speaker 1: was a nice play by Hollywood and Jalen Hurts to
- 11:04Speaker 1: go right back to the well. Then he throws a
- 11:07Speaker 1: crossbody middle end zone to Darius Cooper with number twenty
- 11:10Speaker 1: four in coverage. Nice play there again. I'm saying the
- 11:13Speaker 1: numbers here for the Patriots because I'm doing this for
- 11:15Speaker 1: my car. I don't have. I can't be looking at
- 11:18Speaker 1: the roster and everything when I'm trying.
- 11:20Speaker 2: To do this.
- 11:21Speaker 1: But I'm giving you the notes as i'm reading them. Off,
- 11:24Speaker 1: but Tamario Douglas got loose in the middle of the
- 11:29Speaker 1: field against Cooper Degen. It looked like was giving him
- 11:31Speaker 1: a little bit of space like he did the day before.
- 11:34Speaker 2: That's something that.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Was pretty prevalent in the first practice and it revealed
- 11:37Speaker 1: itself again in this one. Then you had Drake May
- 11:41Speaker 1: who attempted a fade ball to Romeo Dobbs with Raeke
- 11:46Speaker 1: Wollen in coverage. It was incomplete, good coverage from Quinya
- 11:49Speaker 1: Mitchell on Mac Collins in the back corner of the
- 11:52Speaker 1: end zone. Drake May fires a dart over the middle
- 11:56Speaker 1: to Dobbs. This one looked like rak Wollen was knocked
- 11:59Speaker 1: off his a little bit and he wasn't able to recover.
- 12:03Speaker 1: The pass was fit right between Rieke Wollen and Drew mccuba.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Then Drake May throws in the back of the end
- 12:10Speaker 1: zone to aj Brown who's coming over trying to get
- 12:13Speaker 1: his boat feet down at the back pylon as he's
- 12:16Speaker 1: sort of careening out of bounds. But that was Rieke
- 12:20Speaker 1: Wollen in coverage that he bobbled that though, and it
- 12:22Speaker 1: was rendered incomplete, which brought on Andy Dalton. He goals
- 12:28Speaker 1: backup quarterback On the first play, he fired low over
- 12:31Speaker 1: the middle to number forty six, that's whide receiver Samori Torre.
- 12:35Speaker 1: He tucked the ball on the next play, picked up
- 12:37Speaker 1: just a couple of yards and was tagged by number
- 12:39Speaker 1: forty two. They hit a deep corner route to Quees
- 12:42Speaker 1: Watkins with number twenty three in coverage. The ensuing play
- 12:45Speaker 1: was almost an identical route that was also incomplete.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Well, this one was incomplete to Quees Watkins.
- 12:50Speaker 1: And then the next play he tried to fade ball
- 12:51Speaker 1: to Eli Stowers, which was really out of play. Good
- 12:54Speaker 1: coverage there from number twenty four. Then he tried to
- 12:57Speaker 1: fade to Samori Torre. Looked like it was inside a
- 13:00Speaker 1: little bit nice pass breakup there, but number twenty seven
- 13:02Speaker 1: for the New England Patriots, which then brought on Tommy DeVito.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Nobody loves grilling more than me. Could be thirty degrees
- 13:09Speaker 3: and I'll be out there grilling burgers and steaks. But
- 13:12Speaker 3: the one thing that I really can't stand is losing
- 13:15Speaker 3: my fish and my veggies because they just can't grill
- 13:19Speaker 3: without falling through. That's why I've been using Xclad's BBQ collection.

- 16:29Speaker 1: You, which then brought on Tommy DeVito who went deep
- 16:33Speaker 1: left to Kashan Boody. Isaiah Bolding gets the pass break up.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Remember this. Then there's a checkdown left to number thirty four.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Then Booty beats Isaiah Bolten for your touchdown. And then
- 16:47Speaker 1: on the next play he tries booty on a crosser,
- 16:52Speaker 1: but Andre Samson coverage, he comes over late, he gets
- 16:56Speaker 1: flagged and really the double horn sounded from that.
- 16:59Speaker 2: That was the end of practice.
- 17:00Speaker 1: But I thought there was a lot of quality work
- 17:02Speaker 1: from both sides. This one was far more spirited. I
- 17:05Speaker 1: thought that there was going to be some, you know,
- 17:09Speaker 1: some fights, some fisticuffs, maybe tempers flaring a little bit.
- 17:14Speaker 2: That didn't happen too much. There was nothing crazy.
- 17:17Speaker 1: There was maybe one instance where Dantavian Wicks and Marcus
- 17:22Speaker 1: Jones had to be separated.
- 17:23Speaker 2: I noted one earlier.
- 17:25Speaker 1: There was another one on the offensive side, but I
- 17:27Speaker 1: didn't spend a ton of time focusing on the offense.
- 17:29Speaker 1: I thought that they could have been sharper on this day.
- 17:33Speaker 1: They weren't able to really push the ball down the field. Now,
- 17:35Speaker 1: context is super important here because Lemon didn't do team drills,
- 17:40Speaker 1: Davante didn't, Elijah Moore didn't, so you're kind of reliant
- 17:45Speaker 1: on the Dantavian Wicks, Hollywood Brown, Darius Cooper's to go
- 17:51Speaker 1: out there and make those plays. Now, Hollywood Brown had
- 17:54Speaker 1: a couple of nice practices here in Foxborough, and I
- 17:57Speaker 1: think that deserves a mention because he's someone who is
- 18:00Speaker 1: had a quiet training camp, but he's starting to emerge
- 18:02Speaker 1: a little bit. Remember the eagleszhe five million and guaranteed
- 18:05Speaker 1: this year, so barring something unforeseen, he's probably gonna be
- 18:11Speaker 1: on the roster. And I thought Don Tavian Wicks was
- 18:14Speaker 1: the recipient of some intermediary throws. And I didn't just
- 18:19Speaker 1: see a ton from the offense. Most of my attention
- 18:21Speaker 1: was focused on the defense. But from what I did see,
- 18:24Speaker 1: I didn't see the same running lanes and the explosive
- 18:27Speaker 1: plays early in the session that I saw on the
- 18:30Speaker 1: first day. I think New England did a nice job
- 18:32Speaker 1: of really controlling what the Eagles wanted to do. But
- 18:35Speaker 1: the good news is that the back end of the
- 18:37Speaker 1: Eagles defense, which I thought struggled trying to defend Drake May,
- 18:41Speaker 1: who was outstanding on day one, he really only didn't
- 18:45Speaker 1: complete just a few passes. I thought that they really
- 18:48Speaker 1: bottled things up a little bit. They played with an
- 18:50Speaker 1: edge and they were flying around. I thought Michael Carter,
- 18:53Speaker 1: Jeremiah Trotter, junior Andre sam Rieke Wollen was the standout
- 18:58Speaker 1: performer of this day, and I think that that really
- 18:59Speaker 1: speaks to his mental toughness, ability to bounce back and
- 19:03Speaker 1: not be phased by anything that happened prior and focus
- 19:06Speaker 1: on the here and now. He had a couple of
- 19:08Speaker 1: really good matchups with A. J. Brown and Romeo Dobbs
- 19:12Speaker 1: that I would argue is the highlight of highlight of
- 19:14Speaker 1: the training camp practices this summer. It was must see
- 19:18Speaker 1: and they put on a show. I thought that there's
- 19:20Speaker 1: a lot of value in these joint practices. You hope
- 19:22Speaker 1: that there's more in the future. I thought that the
- 19:25Speaker 1: Eagles did a nice job and the Patriots did a
- 19:28Speaker 1: nice job of not letting the atmosphere and the intensity
- 19:33Speaker 1: boil over and affect the productive nature of what you're
- 19:36Speaker 1: trying to accomplish here, and they stayed true to what
- 19:39Speaker 1: they needed to do.
- 19:40Speaker 2: And we'll see what that all means.
- 19:42Speaker 1: But this was the two most important practices of the
- 19:45Speaker 1: summer for the Eagles. It was a tune up for
- 19:48Speaker 1: both the Patriots and the Eagles starters and primary backups.
- 19:52Speaker 1: The game on Saturday will be devoted to the deep reserves.
- 19:57Speaker 1: That's where they're going to get a chance to really
- 19:58Speaker 1: showcase their stuff. They didn't get a ton of reps
- 20:01Speaker 1: in New England, but they will on Saturday. These practices
- 20:05Speaker 1: were for the starters to really test their metal against
- 20:08Speaker 1: another team see where they are. And I thought that,
- 20:11Speaker 1: especially on the first day where I focus on the
- 20:12Speaker 1: offense a little bit more, there were some more wrinkles
- 20:15Speaker 1: that I noticed, but we'll see.
- 20:18Speaker 3: As I've gotten older, I've really tried to concentrate on
- 20:21Speaker 3: my physical health, my body, making sure I'm putting the
- 20:25Speaker 3: right things in and the healthiest things in. I've always
- 20:27Speaker 3: heard about creatine, but I wasn't really sure about using
- 20:31Speaker 3: creatine supplements until I did the research to find out
- 20:34Speaker 3: what it was really all about. That's when I found Momentous,
- 20:38Speaker 3: which created Signature spec Creatine, their most advanced creatine ever,
- 20:43Speaker 3: setting a new standard for creatine quality. It's one of
- 20:47Speaker 3: the only creatines to be manufactured in a pharmaceutical facility
- 20:50Speaker 3: using reverse osmosis water purification and verified through an expanded
- 20:55Speaker 3: six stage testing process with four independent agencies. They've improved
- 21:00Speaker 3: the product experience with ultrafinepowder that mixes effortlessly with no
- 21:05Speaker 3: grit or clumping. Hey, look, I like a good creating
- 21:08Speaker 3: shake in the afternoon, and it's got to taste good
- 21:11Speaker 3: and be smooth. The benefits of creating are very real.
- 21:14Speaker 3: It supports strength, power, lean, muscle growth, recovery, and even
- 21:19Speaker 3: improve cognitive performance. And as I get older, all of
- 21:22Speaker 3: those things are so much more important to me than
- 21:25Speaker 3: they used to be. If you want to try momentous
