- 0:00Speaker 1: I've got a few things here, Yeah, do you got Well,
- 0:04Speaker 1: they're morsels, oh.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Morsel of murder.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Ted Bundy has been tied to the previously unsolved murder
- 0:15Speaker 1: of a Utah teenager decades after her death thanks to
- 0:19Speaker 1: DNA testing.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Really.
- 0:20Speaker 1: On Wednesday, Utah County Sheriff's Office announced that Bundy was
- 0:24Speaker 1: linked to the nineteen seventy four killing of Laura Ann Amy,
- 0:28Speaker 1: a seventeen year old who was last seen leaving a
- 0:31Speaker 1: Halloween party October thirty first, nineteen seventy four. Breakthroughs in
- 0:36Speaker 1: technology and teams meticulously combing through the details helped crack
- 0:40Speaker 1: the case. Existing evidence was submitted to the Utah Bureau
- 0:44Speaker 1: of Forensic Services so we could utilize the various forms
- 0:47Speaker 1: of advanced forensic sciences and professionals. The results were magnificent,
- 0:52Speaker 1: as they confirmed irrefutably that DNA evidence recovered from Laura's
- 0:56Speaker 1: body verified the existence of DNA belonging to Bundy. The
- 1:01Speaker 1: fifty first anniversary of Amy's disappearance approaching twenty twenty five,
- 1:06Speaker 1: brought renewed interest for investigators.
- 1:08Speaker 2: You've seen these TV.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Shows where it's like the cold case. Yeah, they had
- 1:13Speaker 1: collected evidence from her body at the time fifty years
- 1:19Speaker 1: ago and just didn't have the technology to analyze it
- 1:23Speaker 1: back then. Amy's body was discovered less than a month
- 1:26Speaker 1: after her disappearance by two college students who were out
- 1:29Speaker 1: for a Thanksgiving hike. Her body was found without clothing,
- 1:36Speaker 1: nylon stalking used to strangle her, and they could tell
- 1:40Speaker 1: that she had been alive for some time after he had.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Captured her.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Now, as I recall, Bundy said that he said he
- 1:53Speaker 3: had killed her. Yeah, he's but they didn't they couldn't
- 1:57Speaker 3: take they.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Could prove it.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I see. So he kind of like deathbed confession kind
- 2:04Speaker 1: of thing. He claims to have killed as many as
- 2:10Speaker 1: one hundred women. Now, authorities at the time were saying,
- 2:13Speaker 1: we think he might be exaggerating that a little bit.
- 2:16Speaker 1: It seems like his time goes on.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Maybe not, maybe heggerating.
- 2:20Speaker 1: You know, there there are other women, and I think
- 2:22Speaker 1: there's one other woman who's still missing in Utah that
- 2:27Speaker 1: he claims that he that. Yeah, and they've never found her,
- 2:33Speaker 1: and there's probably more of that. But I guess his
- 2:37Speaker 1: DNA was put into this system in Florida, which is
- 2:41Speaker 1: where he was executed, and so the Utah had to
- 2:48Speaker 1: access that way after the.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Fact, so I remember correctly.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Bundy was in prison in Florida, I think, awaiting the
- 2:58Speaker 3: death penalty, and he escaped and went to a sorority
- 3:03Speaker 3: house and murdered a bunch of girls in a sorority Really.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Yeah, wow, So good for this family who always I mean,
- 3:13Speaker 1: he said he killed her. Everybody kind of knew he did,
- 3:16Speaker 1: but just being able to definitively say that happened was good.
- 3:22Speaker 4: All.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I have another update. This is that Maui trial that's
- 3:28Speaker 1: going on right now. The Hawaiian doctor charged with trying
- 3:31Speaker 1: to kill his wife during a birthday hike testified at
- 3:35Speaker 1: his attempted murder trial Wednesday that he struck her in
- 3:39Speaker 1: the head with a rock after she she tried to
- 3:41Speaker 1: shove me off a cliff. I was just trying to
- 3:44Speaker 1: save myself, so the wife survived. She testified earlier this week, saying, yeah,
- 3:53Speaker 1: my husband took me on a hike and tried to
- 3:56Speaker 1: push me off a cliff and then had a syringe
- 3:58Speaker 1: in his backpack and tried to kill me.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Yeah, she managed to.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Get away, and there were some other hikers around that
- 4:05Speaker 1: heard her and care of her, and he took off. Now, yesterday.
- 4:09Speaker 1: I'm kind of glad I didn't do this morsel murder yesterday, Bill,
- 4:12Speaker 1: because because it's we had more testimony. This guy's son
- 4:20Speaker 1: looks down at his phone. Oh, Dad's face timing me,
- 4:25Speaker 1: so FaceTime picture. He looks at it. Dad's covered in blood,
- 4:31Speaker 1: and he says, and this is his own son, saying.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Dad says to the son, H, you know, I tried
- 4:37Speaker 1: to kill your step mom, and I don't think it's
- 4:40Speaker 1: his mom. Is I tried to kill your step mom
- 4:42Speaker 1: and you're probably not going to see me for a while.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Says that to his So there's that. Now he's on
- 4:51Speaker 1: the stand saying, I, oh, no, she she tried to
- 4:55Speaker 1: kill me. No I do, I don't.
- 4:59Speaker 3: I don't think.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Well, Gene, that's for the jury to decide, not you.
- 5:04Speaker 1: It's uh, you know when you confess to your son
- 5:08Speaker 1: and the woman you were trying to kill lived and said, no,
- 5:11Speaker 1: here's what happened. He tried to kill me. I I
- 5:14Speaker 1: kind of don't know why we're having a trial here.
- 5:16Speaker 1: It's like, seems pretty obvious.
- 5:19Speaker 2: It's all right there what you were trying to do.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Wow, you know you you'd think that with all of
- 5:28Speaker 4: these murder shows and all that that that murderers would
- 5:33Speaker 4: would would.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Have would have gotten better at would have gotten better.
- 5:36Speaker 3: You know.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Oh, here's the thing I shouldn't do. They wouldn't have
- 5:39Speaker 2: They would have been smarter. You know.
- 5:41Speaker 1: You know that Golden State killer that Patton Oswalt's first
- 5:47Speaker 1: wife wrote that book about. Uh, he was just brazen
- 5:53Speaker 1: and left all kinds of DNA evidence and all kinds
- 5:58Speaker 1: of evidence because you know, it didn't matter back then
- 6:00Speaker 1: there was no such thing, and they were able to
- 6:02Speaker 1: catch him the same way years later with DNA. So
- 6:08Speaker 1: to your point, Carrie, you think that murderers would be
- 6:11Speaker 1: more careful now that DNA is.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Yes, these days, you know, just just watch a few
- 6:16Speaker 4: law and orders and things like that.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Just a little advice to you murderers out there. Yeah,
- 6:21Speaker 2: you should be a little more careful, a little research.
- 6:24Speaker 4: You know.
- 6:26Speaker 2: It's the frozen bullet, remember, yes, ice knife, ice A
- 6:33Speaker 2: couple of things that never happened. Frozen bullet. There's no
- 6:39Speaker 2: trace event, there's no trace. This is perfect, the perfect murder.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I Knife Ice knife is a good band name. If
- 6:47Speaker 1: nobody's taken it, that's true, that's a really good band.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Oh I like that Okay, it could.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Be like some you know, Nordic death metal band Ice Knife.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Ice Knife.
- 6:58Speaker 1: That's a freebie you can have that.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Let's see, we weren't going to pay for it anyway,
- 7:05Speaker 3: it was not worth paying for.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Let's see anything real quickly that we need to handle.
- 7:16Speaker 3: I heard a story this morning, and I can't find
- 7:18Speaker 3: any details on it, but if somebody knows, email me
- 7:23Speaker 3: radio from hell at X ninety six dot com. A
- 7:25Speaker 3: story about the Ogden City Bicycle Collective and apparently somebody
- 7:30Speaker 3: stole all the bikes. What the bicycle collective? However, now
- 7:36Speaker 3: this is what I heard, but I can't I haven't
- 7:38Speaker 3: found any written account of it. However, the person who
- 7:42Speaker 3: stole all of the bikes then put them up on
- 7:44Speaker 3: Facebook for sale with his name and phone number.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Friends back to the doing little research.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Yeah, apparently you know I'm going to sell all these books,
- 7:54Speaker 3: I'll sell them on Facebook. And here's how Here they
- 7:57Speaker 3: are pictures of them. Here's my name andres and and
- 8:00Speaker 3: somebody saw that and went, uh are from the collective.
- 8:04Speaker 3: Easy to arrest.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Police could just go right to his home. Dumb criminals.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Very disappointing. We'd like our criminals to be smart, but
- 8:15Speaker 2: you know.
- 8:17Speaker 3: There are hundreds of unexplained, unsolved murderer people get away.
- 8:24Speaker 1: We get away with it. Ted Bundy got away with it.
- 8:26Speaker 1: For a long time, Ted Bundy worked at a at
- 8:32Speaker 1: a call center, a crime stoppers call center, like a, Hey,
- 8:37Speaker 1: this guy tried to kidnap me and he was the
- 8:40Speaker 1: one answering the phone to try to help.
- 8:43Speaker 2: He got a little research and didn't he doing that
