- 0:43SPEAKER_00: The best thing about all those are that they're all free to do.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: So they don't cost the thing uh to do.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: Um so thank you for being with us.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Thank you for being with us for over 530 episodes.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: It's uh it's really it's really something uh what you've allowed us to do and given us empowerment to come to you, whether you watch or listen.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: And again, the the Voices for Voices podcast is everywhere you listen to podcast.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: So wherever that may be, if you're at home or on the go, you can find our show.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: And we're just uh yeah, just grateful to have an opportunity to do this.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Not not too many people do, uh not too many make it this far.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Uh you know, there has to be a drive and determination, which I have, which we have, and voices for voices, and you have the demand to want more episodes, more shows, uh, more topics, more experiences, more guests.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: And that's what we are bringing you.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: So thanks for being with us.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: Uh, we have another day of smoke from the Canadian wildfires that's uh blown into several states here in the United States.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: So it's made uh air quality very poor.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: It's caused a lot of events like baseball games and and practices uh be canceled uh because it's just not safe uh to be out.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: And even if you are uh you have a pet and you're walking uh as we do, uh we you know pets have lungs too.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: And so we we try to keep our our dog Lucy um outside for the minimum amount of time uh because again they have lungs too, uh, just because they're a dog um or another pet.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: Um so if you are affected or have been affected by any kind of you know a natural disaster, you know spilling of chemicals, which happened, I believe, in East Palestine, Ohio, if it was a year or two or more ago.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: Uh or if we're kind of downstream and have wildfire smoke kind of drifting into the area and has that hazy, foggy look, uh and obviously the smell can can smell that.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: So we just we want everybody to be safe.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: Uh I think we can all agree that no matter where we're at, we want to be safe and uh we want others to be safe as well.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: Uh the other day had a uh you know a little rough of a mental health day.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: Um family friend had uh had passed away.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: Uh and they had they had his calling hours and his service the other day, and so I so I went with my mom and man, I I say this a lot, but getting older stinks uh the older get the older other people get and sometimes people pass away and and so to be uh cordial to the family for able to to do a visitation for the calling hours.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: Um it uh it's a kind thing to do, it's not at the top of my list by any stretch.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: Uh individual is an extended family member, my parents, and over the last I don't know, probably like if 10, 15 years or so, uh he and his his wife, my mom and dad, they would go to um American baseball games, they would go to American baseball spring training, which is where uh in Arizona or Florida, where the players practice and they do their training before the the real season starts.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: And so my parents and the individual and his wife and another couple, they they've they they've done that a few times.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: Um I went at least, I think, one time because the team that we follow, they started their spring train in Florida, and then they had an opportunity in Arizona, and and I know I went to at least the Arizona one at least once, and it was just a good time, you know, hanging out, laughing, and I remember uh American football.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: Uh he had uh he had some extra tickets.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: So he asked my dad and myself if we wanted to go to a football game, American football game.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: So we said, sure.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: And I mean, fantastic seats.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: I mean, they were just they're just great.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: And it had to be maybe two sections over from us, and generally the same row, you know, close enough that we could see, and you know, different sporting events, fans, you know, dress up, and that I think makes it a little a little bit funner, and it's always all this individual, and he was uh he had the velour pants, the jacket, the hat.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: I think he even had a cane.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: And and so uh our family friend and my dad, you know, they get they named him, you know, Pimp Daddy, uh just as like in a like a fun way.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: And so throughout the game, you know, when there would be a good play that would happen for the team we were rooting for, he would stand up and you know look around and people would cheer, and uh towards the end of the game, we weren't winning, and it was plain to see that we weren't going to win.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: So we got up and we were gonna head out, and our family friend was like, hold on, let's go see, let's go see pimp daddy, you know, give him a high five.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: Uh, and then let me also just say like we're not condoning being a pimp, like that's that's not what this is about.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: This was not about that.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: And so we went down and shook his hand, and uh, and then we left.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: And and and that's one of the that's one of the uh memories I have with our family front.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: He's in our family, he's just uh an extended cousin.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: Um so uh so that was interesting because then every just about every time we would see him, he would he would bring that up and we would just joke and laugh about it.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: Because it it was it was funny.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: I mean, because they're trying my dad and you know, the suspended cousin, you know, they're like waving at him during the game, and he was a pointless stick.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: I mean, it was just I don't know.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: It it was it was it was neat just to like have a chance to laugh.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: You know, we spent so much time being serious and and while there's times to be serious and you know it's okay to laugh.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: And so, like I said, I mean he we would bring this up years later, years later, and it it would just continue on.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: Um and then the other memories I have of him is you know, when I've been unemployed, um he would always he would always reach out and see if I wanted to get together for breakfast and just talk through things were on my mind and we we just did that about a year ago, I think, was like the last time.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: Excuse me, do we had a conversation when I said unemployed?
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: I mean from you know corporate America, you know what a lot of people think of is jobs, manufacturing is huge, there's such a huge need for that everywhere in the world, especially here in the United States.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: Anyway, so we would talk, and I remember driving there, so we we live, I don't know, maybe like an hour apart.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: And so we met, we were meeting halfway, and this is a true story, and so I'm driving, I'm about I don't know, three or four miles away from the exit.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: We were gonna eat at a uh a place for lunch, a restaurant, and so I'm driving, and all of a sudden I see the gauge in the car where it has like C for cool and F C for cool and H for like overheating, and so it just started like it went all the way to H, and then it just kept it was just like a ping-pong, uh whatever you would call and ping pong, or the little bar that hits the ball, and uh, and so that was happening, and and so to me it's uh like it was doing that.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: I've never seen my car do that before, any car, and it did it, and so I pulled over right away, and I called him and I said, Hey, here's what's going on.
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: I don't know what to do, and he and he was like, Well, how far away are you?
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: And and and so I told him, he goes, Oh, you're just about, you know, like a mile and a half or so away.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: Um he goes, like, get it, he goes, I have triple A.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: You know, we can get your car towed to a shop to get it looked at, but if you couldn't get it to where we're eating, then I can be he could be there.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: It was where I was at.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: It was a little bit tricky for him to go the opposite direction and then go several exits, then turn around and come back.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: Uh and and so I just took it slow out.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: I had my hazard lights on, they're flashing, and I just went as slow as I could, made it there, and so we talked about that, then we talked about work, and and then after that, he called AAA for me.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: He didn't have to do that.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: Uh he didn't have to do that, and so I ended up getting my car towed to a shop that was closer to where we reside.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: Uh, but he didn't even like think twice about it.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: He's just like, Oh, I got triple A.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: Uh, you know, let's grab, you know, let's get something to eat and talk, and then after that, then we'll figure out the carb situation.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: And like I said, that was like a year ago, if that, and so that he was the individual who had passed away.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: We were at the the calling hours the other day, and I mean, I'm just an emotional person, and so I started tearing up, you know.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: They had the urn, they had the flag, being a veteran, flowers, picture, like a big picture of him just laughing, and then they had bulletin boards.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: I don't know, there probably was 10 bulletin boards with pictures throughout the years with family, and um I was able to find two pictures, one they the family had of my mom and dad together, and so I had to take a picture of that because it was a picture that I hadn't seen, or if I have it, I don't I don't remember seeing it, I guess.
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: And then there was another one where the four of them my mom, my dad, him and his wife uh were at a ball game, and somebody had taken a picture and they're in the same row, and so they're looking, and um so took a picture of that.
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: Um very bittersweet.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: Um and that's I mean, that's one of the parts of life that it just stinks.
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: It just it just stinks because we're used to seeing people you know, these people.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: I even talk about my dad, you know, two just over two years ago, him passing.
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: I mean it's it's just not it's not fun.
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: So what we get to see sometimes you know, people that we do know at these services, you know, the person that is not there or used to seeing, you know, with you know, their significant other.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: And then you start to realize that they're they're not on earth anymore.
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: And we pray that they're in heaven.
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: And so some people will say, Wow, you know, you're you know, maybe going through these sad times helps us be stronger.
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: I I don't I don't know that I think of it like that because I would rather have that person here because I don't feel stronger and even if that was the case I d I I don't I don't know.
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: I don't know that it makes makes me stronger at all.
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: It just puts me in a situation where emotions you know take over.
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: You know, we talked a couple episodes ago, I think, or maybe it was the last one about a couple people taking their own lives.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: And so I think I just want to you know close out by saying, you know, we don't know when the the last time we're gonna see a person, we don't know what day, week, month, year, hour, second.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: We don't know that.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: And so sometimes that brings in emotions for me.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: Because I'm thinking, I wonder if you know if we had a picture together, wondering what picture are people gonna pick out for when I pass away.
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm just trying to keep it real here.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: I mean the picture, what pictures are gonna be on the bottom boards for me.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: I mean it's you know, none of us, like I said, none of us are getting out of this life alive.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: So sometime whether we want to or not, it's gonna be our time to go and hopefully be going to heaven.
- 23:02SPEAKER_00: And so I think I don't think I know that's why Voices for Voices is so ingrained with who I am because I because I've spent more than my fair share of time on myself and my ego and and everything, and you know now over five hundred and thirty episodes of a show that we had the goal of you know reaching a hundred and two hundred and three hundred, but then to actually accomplish those goals.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: That's why because there's gonna be a time I'm not gonna be on earth, but our shows may still be, and it still might help somebody, so that's why I say that the big overarching goal for us is to reach and help at least three billion people, not today, not tomorrow, but over the course of my life and beyond.
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: And that beyond is when I hope I'm in heaven.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: So somebody may be watching, listening, and a hundred years from now stumble across this show, this episode, another episode, maybe all of them.
- 25:05SPEAKER_00: So I don't take it lightly every time I get in front of this camera.
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: It's heavy things we talk about.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: So thank you for joining.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: Thank you for being part of the Voices for Voices family.
