- 0:00All right, good day. This is Lacko from one hundred years war.
- 0:03I also run Metal in the Mountains in Beachworth, which just happened the other
- 0:06weekend. Great to be here, yead for brother, thanks for join us
- 0:10this evening. Thanks Man Worries so pretty he is dead. Recently played at
- 0:16Metal in the Mountains at beach Worth mate so hours night and I was only
- 0:20the last week hand out a gay Yeah it went really well. Yeah,
- 0:23we had a great crowd, a good turnout, our problems. First time
- 0:27in the open air in the middle of beach Birth right behind the old courthouse
- 0:30where need Kelly was tried. Yeah. Right, so I want to put
- 0:33a bit of a bit of history in nostalgia about the night. Yeah.
- 0:37Man, it's nice historic little area where we've got all these old granite buildings
- 0:40in near the courthouse and some of the other historic buildings Arsenal niche. It's
- 0:46the bend like a cold butt there, not if you're in the pit.
- 0:53I was actually a pretty nice day. We had red, good warm warm
- 0:56weather, sun was out. We're really blessed in that regard. Whether there's
- 1:00always a concern when you're doing an outdoor gig, but yeah, We just
- 1:04got a real good deck of cards this time, so it was good.
- 1:08We tried to go outdoors last year, but it was a wet year so
- 1:11we sort of had to hold off. It was too raining on the on
- 1:15the weekend. We tried to do it last year. So yeah, this
- 1:19year was the first time we managed to go outside and the weather was just
- 1:23really nice to us. Metal gods were shining on your brother, don't side
- 1:30from yourselves. There's also hidden in chan do you need our religious observance and
- 1:34heap some more bands on the lineup, bro, But in any batters on
- 1:37the day, you really stand out and then rest the funk out of you.
- 1:40I mean, they all stood out in their own sort of way.
- 1:42We sort of like do the lineup so that all the bands are radically different
- 1:45from each other, so they all stand out and they get to really show
- 1:49their jobs. We picked all these bands because because we fucking love them and
- 1:53they're all really good bands. Yeah, as far as putting on one of
- 1:59the other the other or whatever, but I mean there's a reason hidden intent
- 2:01was on the top of the bill. Those guys are absolute prayers that they're
- 2:07the international touring level and they put on such a good show. I really
- 2:12enjoyed their set, but not just theirs, all of them. There wasn't
- 2:15There wasn't a week leak in the bunch as far as I can stand least.
- 2:19Anyway. You raise an interesting point, too, bro Like the lineup
- 2:23has got a lot of radically different bands on there, like too many,
- 2:25too many festivals these days, just try and exploit the one, Johnny.
- 2:30You know, it's just like banking baying the same ship at you all the
- 2:31time, but the metal in the Mountains you try and cover a bit of
- 2:35a broader spectrum. Yeah, well, that's it. We don't want to
- 2:38have too many of any one sort of thing. We want to be able
- 2:39to you know, we all we all love heavy music, and we all
- 2:45sort of at least most of us can all appreciate all the bands, and
- 2:49if there is one you don't like, you just sort of wait half an
- 2:52hour and then you pretty much guarantee the like the next one. So it's
- 2:57I think that's good. That's who we all come back together as lovers of
- 3:00heavy music. Yeah. Sure, I also saw that somewhere on the on
- 3:06the day there you had a hot source competition like that sounds pretty dangerous.
- 3:09How that gay? Yeah, not bad. The local the local Animal Alchemy,
- 3:15who makes kim chi and various things like that, did a special source
- 3:20for metal in the Mountains last year as well this year called Mountain of Pain,
- 3:24and the competition was to see who could take it the most, and
- 3:30they find metal has to be pretty into hot sauce, and a lot of
- 3:34them managed to take it. Although I haven't. I didn't actually taste this
- 3:38one yet because with everything happened on the day, I haven't been near a
- 3:43bottle yet, and I sort of want one at least from my little collection.
- 3:46But all accounts, that was pretty high. Yeah, you know,
- 3:52as well as playing his dad mate, like, you've also got something to
- 3:54do with Metal in the Mountains itself. Like what's your role there? Are
- 3:58your organizer? Do you coordinate it? What? What do you do?
- 4:01I'm on the main organizer, the production manager, the stage manager, and
- 4:11it's just me and a few other people who we got together to do this.
- 4:15And so I run a little production business up here where I do sound
- 4:20and lighting for all sorts of stuff. So said, well, I've got
- 4:24the gear, let's do a thing. And well, it wasn't my idea
- 4:28it was Shorty's idea actually, but that's a long story, and so was
- 4:34it. Was it good enough this year that there's going to be a medal
- 4:38in the mountains twenty twenty four? Undoubtedly? Undoubtedly. No, we're gonna
- 4:43be back. We're going to be outdoors again, same thing, just a
- 4:47little bit bigger, and we're gonna We're going to be working over time to
- 4:51find another lineup that's going to top that one, because I think they were
- 4:56pretty good. Oh yeah, good luck with that brother, work starts now.
- 5:04So as we said before, may like you're also playing is Dead?
- 5:06Tell us more about that band for people who may not know too much about
- 5:10you. Yeah, who one hundred Years War. I think they come together
- 5:13in about twenty nineteen. They immediately went to two overseas. They are really
- 5:18tight outfit, made up of veterans from various different bands across the across the
- 5:24scene. I got head huntred into them in early twenty twenty, I think
- 5:28it was, and then Yeah, we've played a lot of festivals across Australia
- 5:32since. And I was self indulgent enough to slap them on on this one
- 5:38as well, just recently. But our next stop is Japan. So we're
- 5:42going over there playing Tokyo with Punch and Stench and the guys from up up
- 5:47North dark Horse, who were really keen to hanging out with again. So
- 5:54your band was actually made up of five veterans from the Australian music scene.
- 5:58So what bands did they played for previously? I'm going to embarrass myself.
- 6:04I do not remembering all of them, but who runs a band? He
- 6:10was one of the fandom members of Death Trader for example, and then Ash
- 6:13the drummer. He's like sort of one of the other main dudes from the
- 6:17band when I when I joined his Extend Route and a few other bands as
- 6:23well. That escaped me right now, but yeah, really good outfit of
- 6:30guys to perfall in with. And yeah, everywhere we go, we we
- 6:35do everything to the to the absolute extreme, and that's what we do well.
- 6:41When when coming up with the sound for this fan like, did you
- 6:44draw a little bit from the experience of the guys and all the other bands
- 6:46or did you want to come up with something rash and unique. I sort
- 6:51of came in after the album was written, so I sort of just jumped
- 6:57in, jumped in on the back of that so it is. It is
- 7:00drawing from a unique sound because it's that blend of debat and death metal that
- 7:04you don't really encounter a lot. So that's what was interesting to me when
- 7:09when I was asked to join the band. I'm like, oh, this
- 7:11is something that actually cool. It's catchy and it's heavy, it's pretty intense,
- 7:15and yeah, all lyrics are intelligent. Everything was like, there,
- 7:23it's a really good band. And so then yeah, since then, all
- 7:27we've done is like we've played a bunch of live shows and then just sort
- 7:30of behind the scenes, the new stuff's getting written and they're looking to do
- 7:33an album next year and hopefully looking at some more overseas touring as well.
- 7:40Talking about that new mature you're writing, mate, like, what's it sounding
- 7:43like? Is it similar to the stuff on stand Monks a foreign or is
- 7:46it is it a sort of a bit of another step up from there?
- 7:48Again, it's different because you know, there's a couple of different members of
- 7:53the band. I mean, obviously the vocals are going to be me and
- 7:57Fans on guitar doing his thing as well, so sounds sort of evolved.
- 8:01It's it's going down that same path. However, so more of the same,
- 8:05just more extreme. And yeah, we're doing a couple of the songs
- 8:11off that live already and as the rest come together, I think we'll be
- 8:15introducing them to our lives sets. But yeah, there's there's at least three
- 8:20songs there that we do currently on our last set that are some of the
- 8:24new stuff. And there's any many local already Australian shows coming up people can
- 8:30check it out. Well. When we get back from Japan. We're doing
- 8:33the show at ben Go Hotel in Melbourne on the tewod of December. That's
- 8:41going to be the only show we're doing in the country this year, and
- 8:46then we'll see how we go next year. But like I said, we're
- 8:50putting out the album and doing over sea stuff, so we'll see. There
- 8:54might be the odd Australiane shape and part of probably yet. All right,
- 9:01Well, thanks for your time man, for me to pleasure chat with you
- 9:03and finally getting to meet you brother, and look forward to working with your
- 9:07Metal in the Mountains next year and seeing what the band comes up with it.
- 9:09Oh yeah, brother, jeez
