- 0:00Hi everyone, welcome to Mini Scroll, the daily Internet
- 0:04culture podcast bringing you the biggest stories from social
- 0:07media, the creator economy and the digital space every Monday
- 0:11through Thursday. I'm your host, Lauren Meisner,
- 0:14the founder of the youth digital media brand Centennial World.
- 0:19Welcome back to Mini Scroll, everyone.
- 0:21OK, just a quick reminder, there's no episode tomorrow
- 0:24because it is Anzac Day here in Australia.
- 0:26So it's a public holiday nationally, but we will have
- 0:30full 5 days of episodes for you guys next week.
- 0:33All right, let's just get right into the stories for today.
- 0:35So the first story that I have for you guys is that Chloe
- 0:39Madison has now shared her side of the story on the Unhinged
- 0:43podcast Divorce drama. Chloe has come out with her side
- 0:48of the story. So if you guys remember, on
- 0:51Tuesday, I talked about Emma's video.
- 0:53She came out, she made this video where she basically said
- 0:56that she felt like Chloe stole the podcast out from under her.
- 0:59Emma was going to quit the podcast, but they had not
- 1:02reached a negotiation in terms of like the buyout or like how
- 1:05that like dissolution was going to happen.
- 1:08And Chloe was like allegedly ghosting Emma for the duration
- 1:12of almost an entire month. And so eventually Emma decided
- 1:16to change a couple passwords on their accounts and offer those
- 1:19passwords back to Chloe if she responded because she was
- 1:23ghosting her allegedly. And then, yeah, Chloe ended up
- 1:27figuring out how to change all of the passwords and has, like,
- 1:29locked Emma out of her podcast. And yeah, basically, as Emma
- 1:33says, she feels like she stole it.
- 1:35Chloe came through. She brought some receipts.
- 1:39So she began her video by addressing the financial side of
- 1:42things. So she claims that they made a
- 1:44lot less than what Emma was saying.
- 1:47So Emma was saying that they made $20,000 a month and that
- 1:51they were quoting brands between 8:00 and $12,000 per TikTok.
- 1:55Chloe says total in the 19 months of their podcast they
- 1:59made $69,000 and they had $19,000 of expenses.
- 2:04The after tax take home for both of them was like $12,000 which
- 2:08basically equals out to $672.98 a month for both of them.
- 2:14So obviously a far cry from $20,000 a month.
- 2:18She also said they only had three brand deals.
- 2:20So they had pitched 60 brand deals in the duration of their
- 2:23podcast, but they only had ever locked in three.
- 2:27She said these three brand deals had quite high deliverables.
- 2:31So it looked like there was like consistent success, consistent
- 2:35brand deals, consistent advertisers, but it was just
- 2:39three brands across the entire time.
- 2:41Keep in mind also, Chloe did share these numbers on like a
- 2:45notes app. She didn't really bring like
- 2:48proper receipts when it came to like their actual income
- 2:52breakdown and revenue and all of that.
- 2:54She did share some screenshots to show how much they were
- 2:57making from TikTok and stuff like that.
- 2:59But you know, aside from that, this was all like on a notes
- 3:02app. So she said that Emma asked for
- 3:041/4 of $1,000,000 payout, which obviously does not reflect
- 3:08anything that they had ever earned according to Chloe.
- 3:11She said her and Emma never got on and Chloe claimed that Emma
- 3:14was snappy, yelled at her and called her names and that she
- 3:18gas lit her. She also said that she was
- 3:21verbally abusive towards producers.
- 3:23So Chloe says she did communicate the issues that she
- 3:26had with Emma's behavior to her through emails.
- 3:28She said that Emma villainized Chloe for moving home.
- 3:31So I don't know if you guys remember, but three months, I
- 3:33said this on Tuesday, but three months after their podcast
- 3:36launched and started doing really well, Chloe moved from
- 3:39New York to LA. So then all of a sudden their
- 3:41podcast was a remote podcast. OK, so the straw that broke the
- 3:44camel's back, they filmed one final episode and it didn't go
- 3:48well. Chloe walked out.
- 3:49I guess they got into some type of fight.
- 3:51She texted her saying Chloe texted Emma saying she couldn't
- 3:54keep doing the podcast with her doing this like partnership with
- 3:58her without an apology. And she felt like Emma just like
- 4:01didn't take accountability and just like couldn't take
- 4:03accountability. So on December 26th, they wanted
- 4:07to schedule a call. They couldn't find a time that
- 4:09worked. And then on New Year's Eve, Emma
- 4:11messaged Chloe and said she wanted to end the podcast.
- 4:14Chloe responded and then apparently heard back from Emma
- 4:17for like a couple days and then Emma finally reaches out and
- 4:21Chloe ends up getting a lawyer around this time.
- 4:24So then this is where like the ghosting happened, but the LA
- 4:27fires obviously happened around the same time.
- 4:29And that was Chloe. He's, you know, explanation for
- 4:32like not answering Emma. She said she was dealing with
- 4:34the fires and that Emma was being really demanding and
- 4:37asking for responses about the podcast while Chloe was having
- 4:40to deal with like evacuations and all this kind of stuff.
- 4:42Chloe in response to saying that she was posting unauthorized
- 4:47content while Emma was locked out of the accounts.
- 4:50She was only posting asking people to follow their Instagram
- 4:52in case of a TikTok ban. So on January 23rd, Emma
- 4:55launches her own podcast and Chloe apparently was
- 4:58automatically blocked from that account.
- 5:00Emma said that she started working on this podcast seven
- 5:03months ago while they were still obviously doing their podcast
- 5:06together, the Unhinged Podcast. Chloe claims throughout this
- 5:09video that it was not a 5050 partnership.
- 5:11She stopped doing 50% of the work a long time ago.
- 5:15So that's Chloe's side of the story.
- 5:17When I first watched her video, I was like, oh, maybe I believe
- 5:23Chloe. It was very convincing.
- 5:25And then I made a TikTok recapping this whole situation
- 5:28without opinion. And then actually both Chloe and
- 5:31Emma and their respective podcasts commented in the Tik
- 5:34Toks and we're like responding to comments and stuff.
- 5:37And it just is so clear from even their interaction in our
- 5:41comments section that is still so like he said, she said like
- 5:44Emma is like doubling down that the financials that Chloe in our
- 5:48comments section, doubling down that the financials that Chloe
- 5:51shared are not accurate. She shared numbers on a notes
- 5:54app. Like she didn't share anything
- 5:56that is like, you know, actually proof, which is a good point.
- 6:00But yeah, I don't know. What do you guys think?
- 6:02I think it, it feels almost wild that Chloe would like, quote UN
- 6:08quote, like embarrass herself by saying like, you know, we tried
- 6:11to get all these brand deals, but we only got 3.
- 6:13We only made $69,000 a year. Like all of that makes their
- 6:16podcast sound so much less legit than it was.
- 6:19I guess that's the point because they're in these like
- 6:21negotiations, right? So if she's like publicly saying
- 6:24like we're actually not worth that much, then she doesn't need
- 6:26to technically, I mean, in theory, pay Emma out as much as
- 6:31Emma's asking for. I don't know.
- 6:34It's so messy. And like I said on Tuesday, I
- 6:36just, it's so sad to see that they're just going to absolutely
- 6:39decimate this professional and personal relationship that they
- 6:42had. As someone who's been through,
- 6:44like I said, like a buyout that included a podcast before, it's
- 6:47just such a shame that they couldn't just come to any type
- 6:50of like fair agreement. But yes, that is Chloe side of
- 6:54the story. So if there's any other updates,
- 6:56I will let you guys know. OK, the next story that I have
- 6:58for you guys is that Addison Ray is going to drop Ray after her
- 7:02album release. Addison Ray has announced her
- 7:05first album coming on June 6th and she has also revealed that
- 7:09it will be called Addison. So in speaking to Elle about the
- 7:12album and kind of this next phase of her career, she also
- 7:16dropped another announcement saying that she will be dropping
- 7:20the Rae at the end of her name saying quote, I feel like I've
- 7:23surpassed Addison Rae. It's just Addison now.
- 7:27I feel like I kind of get it. Even though the name Addison Rae
- 7:30is pretty iconic now. It is very like all American
- 7:35girl next door early tick talk vibes.
- 7:38And obviously she is trying to move so far away from that.
- 7:43So I understand that she probably feels like the
- 7:46association with the name Addison Rae is just like a whole
- 7:49different version of herself. And OK, so like around this time
- 7:53last year, that's when we did the deep dive into her rebrand,
- 7:55right? And that's when people started
- 7:57talking about this rebrand and being like, Oh my God, she's
- 7:59done it. Like she's done such a cool,
- 8:01successful rebrand. You know, she's going to be a
- 8:04Maine pop girly. It's so cool that we've been
- 8:06able to see her pivot from this kind of like mainstream Tik
- 8:08Toker to her kind of like indie alt music, girly vibe.
- 8:13And now I am noticing that that sentiment is shifting a bit.
- 8:19People are now saying online that she feels really forced and
- 8:23it feels like it's almost gone like too far, Like she's swung
- 8:25the pendulum like too far. She's almost like too committed
- 8:29to the bit. And people are like, this feels
- 8:31really inauthentic. And I do think it was always
- 8:34strategic, of course, but I'm also just a bit like, I don't
- 8:38know if that really matters. Like, first of all, everything
- 8:41we see in entertainment, social media, all of that, there's
- 8:45always an element of, you know, strategy filtering persona to
- 8:50it, right? And I think she is probably
- 8:53exploring herself artistically. But also there is strategy
- 8:57behind like the rebrand that she is doing, which is like fine, in
- 9:00my opinion. I kind of see it as like Disney
- 9:02stars breaking out of their mold, like going a little bit
- 9:05crazy when they get older. It's like, like Addison was so
- 9:09mainstream cookie cutter girl next door TikTok star.
- 9:14And I think to kind of move away from that box that she was put
- 9:18in, she does need to go so extreme into this kind of like
- 9:21alternative artistic quirky girl vibe.
- 9:25And I do think the pendulum will swing back probably a little bit
- 9:29more to the middle eventually. OK, the last story that I have
- 9:32for you guys. So I'm going to break down the
- 9:34New York City influencer TikTok drama between Anna Wolferman and
- 9:38Izzy Graff. Anna and Izzy are both 24 years
- 9:40old and they used to be friends running in the same New York
- 9:43City influencer circle. Last year, Izzy made a video
- 9:46telling a story time about a friend who basically did her
- 9:49dirty. She claimed in this video that
- 9:52she had this friend that she'd only just met and she invited
- 9:54her to a party with a bunch of her friends from home.
- 9:57Izzy told this friend that she was into one of the guys that
- 10:01was there at the party, one of her guy friends from home.
- 10:04And then she says like 20 minutes later after having this
- 10:06conversation, the friend that she brought was off with that
- 10:09guy hooking up with him. She didn't say who this girl
- 10:11was, but she did say that she dropped this girl as a friend.
- 10:15And then this week, she came back with a new story time about
- 10:19a shitty friend. And everyone's basically
- 10:21connecting the dots that it must be Anna.
- 10:24So in her video from this week, Izzy starts off by saying that
- 10:27she's really only had a falling out with one person in the same
- 10:29influencer scene. And she goes on to accuse this
- 10:33person of having a fake persona online and glamorizing unhealthy
- 10:37eating habits. Fans immediately clocked that
- 10:39she was talking about Anna based on some of these descriptions.
- 10:43And fans have also noticed that Anna seemingly stopped being
- 10:45friends with like that whole group of girls.
- 10:47So I guess that I actually, like didn't really know who Izzy was
- 10:50before this, but I guess she's friends with like Kit Keenan,
- 10:53Lauren Wolf, all those girls, Carly, all those girls.
- 10:56So now Anna has come out with her own video on the situation,
- 11:00basically confirming that Izzy story times were about her and
- 11:03obviously kind of defending herself.
- 11:05So she said she was the one to end the friendship because it
- 11:07was it was clear that they were very different people with
- 11:10different lifestyles. She also called Izzy out for the
- 11:13fact that her entire career is built off of telling story times
- 11:16about gossipy drama. She then said she's tried to
- 11:19clear things up and explain what happened.
- 11:21Presumably this is related to the guy that she hooked up with
- 11:24that like Izzy was into and then she like, quote UN quote like
- 11:26stole him from her, but that Izzy basically won't have a bar
- 11:30of it. And she kind of called her out
- 11:32for taking her grievances to the Internet instead of just talking
- 11:36to Anna directly about them. And Izzy made a video and
- 11:39quickly deleted it. Responding to this, In this
- 11:42video, Izzy basically gave a bunch of specific examples of
- 11:45times when Anna was allegedly selfish or treated people
- 11:48poorly. For example, she said that she
- 11:50treated her best friend like an assistant at Coachella.
- 11:53There were just like a lot of accusations like that.
- 11:55She also said that Anna's social media persona is fraudulent.
- 11:58She was like, she acts so demure and like gentle and soft, but
- 12:02like, that's not who she is in real life at all.
- 12:05She says that she manipulates her audience into thinking that
- 12:07unhealthy eating habits and restriction is Wellness.
- 12:11She also claims that Anna did not drop her as a friend.
- 12:14Easy dropped her as a friend. That's the latest.
- 12:17It's definitely again a lot of back and forth, but people are
- 12:20calling this the like Hallie Kate Sophia Lacourt 2.0 New York
- 12:25City influencers feuding all starting with basically both of
- 12:30them being into the same guy. All right guys, well, that's it
- 12:32for mini scroll today. Thank you so much for listening.
- 12:35I love you guys. Please rate review and Scribe.
