- 0:00Hey y'all, it's. Friendly thanks for joining me
- 0:04on another episode on In the Stillness.
- 0:06Happy. Friday, but not just any.
- 0:09Friday. Today is good.
- 0:11Friday and this day is honestly. Really weighty it's.
- 0:17Intimate and it's. Super sacred, so it was.
- 0:20On my. Heart to press.
- 0:22Pause from first John today and to.
- 0:26Just sit with the cross. What Jesus did, Who he really?
- 0:30Is and what that means? For how we Live Today so we're.
- 0:35Going to be reading. Through Isaiah 53.
- 0:38And I just want to encourage you.
- 0:41As I read it. Don't rush.
- 0:43Past it, truly. Let God.
- 0:46Meet you where you are. And let these.
- 0:48Words really take. Meaning in your heart.
- 0:53I'm just going to read through the whole thing.
- 0:55It's a little long, but it is so important starting in verse one.
- 1:01Who has truly? Believed our revelation to whom?
- 1:05Will Yahweh reveal? His mighty arm.
- 1:08He sprouted up. Like a tender plant before the
- 1:11Lord. Like a.
- 1:12Root in parched. Soil.
- 1:15He possessed no distinguishing beauty or outward splendor.
- 1:19To catch our. Attention.
- 1:21Nothing special in his appearance to make us desire
- 1:25him. He was despised.
- 1:28And rejected by men. A man.
- 1:30Of deep sorrows. Who was no stranger to suffering
- 1:34and grief. We hid our faces.
- 1:37From him in disgust and considered him a nobody not.
- 1:41Worthy of respect yet. He was the one who.
- 1:46Carried our. Sicknesses and endured the
- 1:49torment of our sufferings. We viewed him as one who was
- 1:53being punished for something he himself had done, as one who was
- 1:58struck down by. God and brought low but it was
- 2:02because of our rebellious deeds that he was pierced, and because
- 2:07of our. Sins.
- 2:08That he was crushed, he. Endured the punishment that made
- 2:12us. Completely whole.
- 2:14And in his wounding, we found our healing.
- 2:19Like wayward sheep. We have all wandered astray.
- 2:23Each of. Us has turned from God's path
- 2:26and chosen our own way. Even so, Yahweh.
- 2:31Laid the guilt of our. Every sin upon him.
- 2:35He was oppressed. And.
- 2:37Harshly mistreated still. He humbly submitted, refusing to
- 2:42defend himself. He was led like a.
- 2:45Gentle lamb to be. Slaughtered like a silent sheep
- 2:49before his shearers. He did not even open his mouth.
- 2:54By. Coercion and with the perversion
- 2:57of. Justice he was.
- 2:58Taken away, and who could have imagined his future?
- 3:03He was cut down in the prime of life for the rebellion of his
- 3:07own. People he was.
- 3:08Struck down in their place, they gave him a grave among
- 3:13criminals, but he ended up instead in a rich man's tomb,
- 3:18although he had done no violence nor spoken deceitfully, even
- 3:24though it. Pleased Yahweh to.
- 3:25Crush him with. Grief he will be restored to
- 3:28favor after his. Soul becomes a guilt offering.
- 3:33He will gaze. Upon it, upon his many
- 3:35offspring, and prolong his days, and through him.
- 3:40Yahweh's deepest desires will be fully.
- 3:44Accomplished after the great anguish.
- 3:47Of his soul. He will see light and be.
- 3:49Fully satisfied by. Knowing Him, the righteous One,
- 3:54my servant, will make many. To be righteous because he.
- 3:58Their sin. Bearer carried away.
- 4:01Their sins so. I Yahweh will.
- 4:04Assign him a portion among a great multitude, and he will
- 4:08triumph and divide the. Spoils of victory.
- 4:11With his mighty ones all. Because he poured out his
- 4:16lifeblood to death. He was counted among the worst
- 4:19of sinners. Yet he carried.
- 4:22Sin's burden for many and. Intercedes for those who are
- 4:26rebels. OK, I read.
- 4:29That in the passion translation I.
- 4:31Actually at my. Middle school memorized.
- 4:34Isaiah 53. They had us recite it.
- 4:37And it was in a different version so I was really wanting
- 4:39to take it a. Different route, but it is so.
- 4:41Wild to think. That that passage.
- 4:45Was written hundreds. Of years before Jesus.
- 4:48I think it was about 700 years, yet it describes him in.
- 4:52Such detail, his life, his. Suffering and his.
- 4:56Purpose for suffering. Even in the language, there's so
- 5:01much depth. It says.
- 5:03That he would come up like a root and that is referring to
- 5:06the. Root of David.
- 5:08The promised Messiah from David's line.
- 5:11And it says. He came out of parched ground.
- 5:14Which reflects both the spiritual.
- 5:16Condition of Israel at the time they were coming out of
- 5:19judgment. The Wrath.
- 5:21Of God. And honestly it.
- 5:23Also reflects the. Bareness of humanity.
- 5:25Without Jesus, because. Nothing.
- 5:29Fruitful grows apart. From Jesus Christ.
- 5:33And what's crazy is. People missed him.
- 5:36He didn't come how they. Expected.
- 5:39How they had planned in their heads.
- 5:41For a glorious. King, there was no beauty, no
- 5:44outward. Glory, that was.
- 5:46Screaming that name and it just reminds me.
- 5:50God. Often works in ways that we
- 5:53don't. Expect so.
- 5:56The question is, are we in any way missing him too in our?
- 6:02Everyday lives because we've already decided what he should
- 6:05look like. I think this is something that
- 6:08we should. Really sit with because.
- 6:10His presence. Is with us everywhere we go by a
- 6:14spirit and it's so easy to get. Caught up in?
- 6:18Daily. Routine and schedule.
- 6:21That we forget that He is right there with us.
- 6:25Now this next part really hit me.
- 6:28Jesus was described as a. Man of Sorrows familiar with
- 6:32grief, pain, and rejection. Yet.
- 6:35He was the most emotionally whole and healed man to ever.
- 6:40Walk the earth He. Felt everything.
- 6:43But he was not ruled by those things.
- 6:46He didn't absorb the rejection as part of his identity.
- 6:50He did not let the suffering define him.
- 6:52And that is so important for us because Scripture clearly says
- 6:58that our. Present sufferings are momentary
- 7:01troubles. They cannot even.
- 7:03Compare to the. Glory that's coming.
- 7:06Jesus himself said take heart, for I have.
- 7:09Overcome the. World.
- 7:11So yes. Pain and suffering.
- 7:13Is so real and we will face it. But it doesn't get the final say
- 7:20and we. See so clearly.
- 7:22In how he responded to suffering.
- 7:25Isaiah says he was led like a. Like a lamb to the.
- 7:29Slaughter. Yet he stayed silent.
- 7:33Yo that. Silence was not weakness, That
- 7:37was Jesus submitting. Fully to his father's will.
- 7:41Even when it meant hardship and suffering.
- 7:44So. That's the invite.
- 7:45For us to. Not just to admire.
- 7:48Jesus, but to follow. Him through surrendering our
- 7:52will, our control, our expectations and believing.
- 7:57That the father. 'S plan is far better than ours
- 8:02when you. Look at the cross.
- 8:04Like, truly dive. Deep into the wording and how
- 8:08this is written, every single detail was intentional.
- 8:13This was not random pain put on. Jesus, He was pierced for our.
- 8:18Transgressions. What we did wrong?
- 8:21He was. Crushed for our iniquities.
- 8:24Our willful, purposeful. Rebellion.
- 8:28Everything intentional or unintentional.
- 8:31Was completely covered. By his suffering, this stripes
- 8:35on his back. That was for our healing, both
- 8:38physical and emotional. And y'all this is crazy.
- 8:43Think about the crown of thorns that they placed on his head.
- 8:47Thorns did not even exist before sin entered the world in the
- 8:51Garden of Eden. So that is.
- 8:53Representing the curse that fell on mankind.
- 8:57So Jesus literally took the. Curse on our minds from the
- 9:01devil. Fear, anxiety, lies so that we
- 9:07could be. Free from them.
- 9:10Another thing I thought was so. Powerful.
- 9:13So the Hebrew. Understanding of healing.
- 9:16Here is actually. Tied to another word that means
- 9:21joined or made. Whole so his.
- 9:24Wounds. They're not just to patch.
- 9:26Us up. It's not a band.
- 9:28Aid they actually. Bring us into union with the.
- 9:32Father. So this is I.
- 9:36Believe in urging for. All of us.
- 9:39To come into agreement with the healing that you have been given
- 9:42freely. Don't speak death over yourself.
- 9:47Don't come into agreement with. Lies or anxiety?
- 9:52Or broken identity. Speak life, Proverbs, says the
- 9:57power. Of life and death is in the
- 9:59tongue. So how you speak over yourself?
- 10:02And over others is so much more significant than you probably.
- 10:06Realize because of Jesus. Healing is not just something
- 10:11that we're begging for, it's something that we get to step
- 10:14into by faith and something even deeper.
- 10:20When it talks. About knowledge, there's another
- 10:23connection with the wording to the idea of experience.
- 10:27It's tied to the word sweat. Like what?
- 10:30Jesus. Experienced in the Garden of
- 10:32Gethsemane and. Drops of blood.
- 10:35Sweating on the cross. So through what?
- 10:39Jesus endured. We gain a knowing or a
- 10:43revelation. That actually heals us y'all
- 10:48this is. Transformation.
- 10:50It's not. Just passive information.
- 10:52That we're reading and I love this point of view.
- 10:56Light in life came through his suffering.
- 11:00So what looked like defeat? Actually became resurrection
- 11:05new. Life, victory and.
- 11:10I think that that is such a motivation for us.
- 11:12Because. No matter what suffering trial.
- 11:17Hardship that you're. Experiencing right now in this
- 11:19life, it's not the end of your. Story because there's.
- 11:24Coming a day when we will. Fully wake up.
- 11:27To new life. To light.
- 11:30Into heaven's reality. Just as Jesus did after he died.
- 11:35And woke up to that new light when he walked out of that tomb.
- 11:41So don't lose heart. Don't be discouraged, Jesus.
- 11:47Did not just. Die for you.
- 11:49He died as. You let that.
- 11:53Sit for a. Second, his.
- 11:55Death dealt with. Sin within you.
- 11:59His burial just put it to the grave.
- 12:03It's. In the ground, his resurrection.
- 12:06Brought. You into new.
- 12:08Resurrected life. So sin is not your identity
- 12:12anymore, Yes. There is grace.
- 12:15When we fall, when we fail. But continuing in sin is not
- 12:20God's design for our life. You have been made new in.
- 12:26Jesus. And because of all of this.
- 12:30We now have. Access to the.
- 12:31Father, we're not distant. There is no.
- 12:35Fear we don't. Have to even wonder if.
- 12:38God is against us. It says clearly in Romans 8 that
- 12:42God. Is for us so we have peace with
- 12:45God and real peace. Looks like confidence because
- 12:50you know his heart. Toward you is.
- 12:52Good and pure and faith in his. Blood that.
- 12:57Is what draws you near. It's not about feelings.
- 13:02And honestly, we have no. Excuse to reject.
- 13:06Him, the people in Isaiah's time, years and years.
- 13:10Prior to Jesus, actually. Coming on this earth, they did
- 13:14not have the full. Picture that we.
- 13:15Have now. They had prophecy, but we.
- 13:19Can now look back and see the cross, the resurrection, and all
- 13:24of the. Other.
- 13:25Prophecies being fulfilled in our lifetime.
- 13:28So the. Question then becomes.
- 13:31Is he? Actually, the point of your
- 13:33life. Because he.
- 13:35Is the reason that you're breathing.
- 13:37He's the reason that. You are alive.
- 13:40And free from sin. So I know that's a.
- 13:46Lot but today with it. Being Good Friday, let's not.
- 13:51Rush past this. Let these words.
- 13:56And these revelations change you from the inside.
- 13:59Out. Ask yourself.
- 14:01How am I responding to this? Radical.
- 14:04Sacrificial. Incomparable.
- 14:06Kind of. Love every.
- 14:08Single day, so I'm going to close this out in prayer really
- 14:12quick. Dear.
- 14:16Jesus, thank you. For the cross.
- 14:21Thank you that you. Were.
- 14:23In every single. Detail, Father.
- 14:26Nothing was wasted. It is.
- 14:29Through your suffering. That you brought us life.
- 14:33That you brought us. Healing and that we step into
- 14:36fellowship and union with you. Jesus, would you teach us to
- 14:42trust the Father's will like. You did to submit.
- 14:47Teach us to. Walk in the fullness of what?
- 14:49You have already offered us. I pray that we.
- 14:53Would come into agreement with. Truth that we would speak life
- 14:58over ourselves, over others. And that we would live from the
- 15:01reality. Of what you have already.
- 15:03Accomplished, we remember. You today we.
- 15:08Just thank. You all we.
- 15:10Can say is thank you. We pray this in your name Jesus.
- 15:16Amen. OK y'all, I know that was a
- 15:18longer one. But I really.
- 15:21Did want to sit with that passage and just go?
- 15:24Through it. And go into the details.
- 15:27Of it 'cause it is. So so important and not
- 15:30something to just skim past, but I'm praying for you guys that
- 15:33you would enjoy. This Good Friday.
- 15:35And that. You would just.
- 15:37Experience. How much?
- 15:39The father has lavished his. Love on us and learn to.
- 15:42Receive it. And therefore.
- 15:45Overflow and give it to others. I will see y'all on the next
- 15:49pod.
