- 0:39Live Laugh Larsony
- 0:43Welcome to Live Laugh Larsony.
- 0:46Blood is thicker than water, and less hydrating.
- 0:48[Laughter]
- 0:49This is Trevon.
- 0:50[Laughter]
- 0:51And I'm Amanda Trevin.
- 0:54You?
- 0:54What's your dreadful dilemma?
- 0:56My dreadful dilemma is that I went to the movies recently.
- 0:59And I didn't have a bad movie experience.
- 1:03Love the movies always will.
- 1:04I'll never say anything bad about the movies.
- 1:06But I gotta say, I once had a dilemma about why do movie trailers have trailers before the
- 1:12trailers? Do you remember this?
- 1:14Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:15Like if you watch a trailer on YouTube or you see it on TV sometimes, it's like
- 1:19the trailer for Spider-Man 12, starting in two seconds.
- 1:22Here's the trailer, trailer, and it's just like, why do you do that?
- 1:26Yeah.
- 1:26So I've got a very similar complaint, but almost to a larger scale.
- 1:30Oh, whoa.
- 1:31You've been taking Lila to see movies recently.
- 1:33Yes.
- 1:34My complaint now is why do movie theaters have to have movie trailers for their theater
- 1:39when I'm already their customer?
- 1:41Oh, I see.
- 1:42Where they're kind of like AMC theater.
- 1:46We've got popcorn.
- 1:48We've got showtime.
- 1:50We've even got a little restaurant like that.
- 1:53Yeah, stuff like that, which I get to a certain point.
- 1:55They're trying to sell their amenities, like the special things they do.
- 1:58But sometimes it's just like, Nicole Kibman.
- 2:00We do movies better here.
- 2:02I get it.
- 2:03I love Unicol.
- 2:03I'll see you later.
- 2:04And then the next time it's two couples who are like going through different
- 2:08off-brain versions of movies I've seen before.
- 2:11And it's like, okay, couple, go off on your movie adventure.
- 2:15Now I know that you're both having a good time at AMC.
- 2:17And then another one comes up and it's like, now our sound is more soundier than sound.
- 2:20Oh.
- 2:21[laughs]
- 2:22Oh.
- 2:23That is so damn true.
- 2:24And I'm like, guys, you already earned my heart.
- 2:27You already earned my love.
- 2:28I'm here.
- 2:28I am here.
- 2:29I bought a ticket.
- 2:30I don't need to be like, this screen is one of the biggest in the state.
- 2:36Yeah, like they'll talk about the popcorn, the sounds, the feels, the Nicole Kibman's.
- 2:41It's like, have you ever dated one of those people that was very self-conscious and so they had
- 2:45to keep demonstrating that they had value to you all the time?
- 2:48And it's just like, oh, you think that's good?
- 2:50Have I shown you that I can also do that?
- 2:52Oh, did I show you I could do this too?
- 2:53Chill, dude.
- 2:54It's like a toddler trying to gain your attention.
- 2:57And it's like, I already birthed you.
- 2:59I'm already staring at you.
- 3:01I'm already applauding you.
- 3:03I don't need you to do another cartwheel and break your neck.
- 3:06Exactly.
- 3:07Yeah, I feel that.
- 3:08I feel that.
- 3:09You already got me, okay?
- 3:10Oh.
- 3:11So that's how that made me feel.
- 3:13I mean, I had a great experience.
- 3:14What movie did you see?
- 3:16Recently I saw two.
- 3:17I saw Long Legs and I also saw the third quiet place movie.
- 3:22Oh shit.
- 3:23Okay.
- 3:23Did you like them?
- 3:25I like them both.
- 3:26There were some things about both that kind of annoyed me, but all in all, very good time still.
- 3:32I don't think I've heard of Long Legs.
- 3:34Long Legs is a horror movie that is kind of like a detective thriller and it's got
- 3:39Nicholas Cage is the bad guy.
- 3:41Oh, Nicholas Cage.
- 3:43Mm-hmm.
- 3:44Okay.
- 3:45Well, Treven, I also have a dreadful dilemma this week.
- 3:49And before we recorded, I was telling you just how much I loved my lake trip with my family
- 3:56that I just went on.
- 3:57Which how could it be dreadful?
- 3:59It sounded beautiful.
- 3:59I know.
- 4:00Right.
- 4:01And I'm going to kind of tell the listeners a little bit about it.
- 4:04It was at Beaver Lake just over the border of Missouri into Arkansas.
- 4:10I had never been there.
- 4:12I was explaining to Treven the difference between the lakes and bodies of water here that are mud-based
- 4:18and kind of cloudy and dark water.
- 4:21You're a little terrified the whole entire time you're in there.
- 4:24This lake was pebble-bottomed.
- 4:26It was crystal clear.
- 4:27You could see the fishes.
- 4:30There were even gigantic rocks and you could feel like you were the little mermaid as the bubbling
- 4:35brook just like splashed up to you.
- 4:38Were they good for people to do the skipping stones?
- 4:41It sounds like a skipping stone story.
- 4:42Yeah.
- 4:43Well, that would be Jordan's dreadful dilemma because he tried his
- 4:47d'Artus to skip a stone on that beautiful ass lake and he failed each and every time.
- 4:52Damn.
- 4:53It was really sad to watch, but not my dreadful dilemma.
- 4:56That was actually quite entertaining.
- 4:57But I had great time with my family, my babies.
- 5:00We all were just in the water.
- 5:03And what did I tell you earlier?
- 5:04How did I describe it?
- 5:06The nature like rejuvenated my soul?
- 5:08Yeah, you just said it like made you a new or something.
- 5:11Yeah.
- 5:12Yes.
- 5:13For me, I have such a high fear of mosquitoes
- 5:16and I did not get one single mosquito bite on the whole trip.
- 5:20So this was heaven for you?
- 5:21Heaven on Earth.
- 5:23I could see through the water so I wasn't scared.
- 5:26There was a shallow entrance for my babies.
- 5:28We all had like 500 floaties on us.
- 5:31And it was just genuinely like rejuvenated my soul back into nature again.
- 5:37I feel like I don't get outside enough at all.
- 5:40And this was really, really good for me.
- 5:42You found bliss and beaver lake.
- 5:44I did.
- 5:45I did.
- 5:46So now to the dreadful part.
- 5:48I had a great time with my family.
- 5:50The house that we were staying in was an Airbnb.
- 5:53And it was amazing, plenty of room for all of us.
- 5:57However, on the last night of our trip,
- 6:02we were about to eat dinner.
- 6:04My husband was taking a shower and he came upstairs
- 6:09with a gatorade bottle and he's like, "Guys, guys, look what I just
- 6:13spent an hour trying to trap downstairs in the bathroom."
- 6:17He brings it over.
- 6:19There was a fucking scorpion.
- 6:22Oh, I thought you were going to say snake.
- 6:23No.
- 6:24You.
- 6:25A scorpion.
- 6:28In our bathroom.
- 6:29So my family, my babies, me and my husband, we had the whole basement.
- 6:33It was in the basement bathroom.
- 6:36My kiddo was sleeping so close to that bathroom.
- 6:39I didn't even look at my notes at all, but I did want to tell you guys what kind it was.
- 6:45Apparently there's only one type of species of scorpion that's native to Arkansas.
- 6:52So we looked that one up and we looked at him and we looked at the picture
- 6:56and we determined that it was a striped bark scorpion.
- 7:00And luckily for us, they said, most of the time it will not cause death if you get stung by these guys.
- 7:07Oh, good. Just like amputation or something.
- 7:09Yeah.
- 7:10Maybe you could get somewhat paralyzed or go into anaphylactic shock or heavy breathing,
- 7:16palpitating, sweating, throwing up.
- 7:20So rest assured.
- 7:21Yeah. So rest assured.
- 7:22This was my first time ever in my entire life seeing a live scorpion.
- 7:28Yeah, I don't know if I have outside of the zoo.
- 7:30I guess I've seen them like trapped or like for some reason growing up with a dead scorpion in a case
- 7:40as kids we had one.
- 7:42So I've seen them, but like this was a moving scorpion in my residence.
- 7:48And that was terrifying.
- 7:50So what did Jordan do with that?
- 7:52We kept in the Gatorade bottle for a while.
- 7:54My sister-in-law was really fascinated by it.
- 7:56She took lots of pictures of it so I can definitely post it online for you all to see.
- 8:01When I took the kids to bed, my brother and his wife said it free far away from our house outside.
- 8:08But it was a time.
- 8:09Well, that sounds like a real dilemma.
- 8:12I would have also been in the shrieking crowd with that one too.
- 8:16Hell yes. So today we are going to be doing a round of two truths in one lie.
- 8:23I've got three wires. Which one do I cut?
- 8:26I'll give you two truths in a lie.
- 8:28Oh wait, we don't have time for this.
- 8:29We do our playing game.
- 8:35Here go.
- 8:37And I'm doing it first.
- 8:39Yes, you are.
- 8:41So it's been heating up around here.
- 8:44Yes, it has.
- 8:45Tis the summer.
- 8:46And it will still be the summer when this episode comes out.
- 8:49And I've just been wanting to enjoy time on the patio.
- 8:53You know what I mean?
- 8:54Yeah.
- 8:54Chill back.
- 8:55Have a gummy.
- 8:56Yeah.
- 8:57Sipa.
- 8:58Summer time drink.
- 8:59So I figured maybe we should do two truths in a lie about everyone's favorite summer time drink.
- 9:04Margaritas.
- 9:05Oh!
- 9:06Aye, aye, aye.
- 9:08So here we go.
- 9:08Statement number one.
- 9:11The first frozen margarita machine is on display at the Smithsonian.
- 9:15Statement number two.
- 9:17There is a skin reaction nicknamed margarita dermatitis,
- 9:21commonly caused by making the drink.
- 9:23Or statement number three.
- 9:25Jim Henson came up with the colorful designs of the Sesame Street characters at a Mexican restaurant,
- 9:30while on a quote margarita stupor.
- 9:32Oh man, I don't know why, but I'm going to go with
- 9:40A is the lie.
- 9:41And you are incorrect.
- 9:44Damn, was it B?
- 9:46It was actually three.
- 9:48Oh shit.
- 9:50Number three, okay.
- 9:51So the lie was that?
- 9:52Oh god, damn it.
- 9:52I was saying A, B, and C.
- 9:54And you were saying one, two, and three.
- 9:56I gotcha, don't worry.
- 9:57The third option was the lie.
- 10:00Jim Henson did not come up with Sesame Street on a margarita stupor.
- 10:04That was actually the guy who created Doug.
- 10:06Oh.
- 10:08So you know how a lot of the people in Doug have a bunch of colorful skin colors?
- 10:12Yes, skater is blue and what's her name?
- 10:16Patty mayonnaise.
- 10:17She's like orange.
- 10:19Orange-ish, like a bun kind of,
- 10:21like a hamburger bun color.
- 10:23So here's a little quote I have from his Wikipedia.
- 10:27In 1984, Jenkins career took a turn for the worse, as well as his personal life.
- 10:31He had a rough breakup and suffered injuries and a biking accident.
- 10:34During this time, he gained a new outlook on life,
- 10:36desiring to quote, "create a place where there was no overdue rent and no delinquent phone bills."
- 10:41He began doodling and forming the basis for bluffing 10, the central location in Doug.
- 10:45The characters early designs were solidified alongside friend David Campbell at a small Mexican
- 10:50restaurant in New York.
- 10:51He later credited the character's odd coloring choices from being in a margarita stupor.
- 10:55Holy shit, I love that.
- 10:59Did you watch Doug a lot growing up?
- 11:01Oh, I love Doug.
- 11:02Honestly, sometimes I think about this show as like my personal Doug,
- 11:06because he goes into his head and has like the Indiana Jones moments,
- 11:10and then he has a superhero quail man moments.
- 11:12I feel like sometimes these stories are just like my Doug stories in my head.
- 11:16That's a really good point.
- 11:18We do parody stuff, just like Doug does parody stuff.
- 11:21So I like this guy's energy, even though I know he was going through a dark time,
- 11:24he still made a weird children's show out of it. That's cool.
- 11:26I loved the hell out of Doug.
- 11:29I don't know what it was.
- 11:31Maybe it was his imagination and stuff.
- 11:34That really got me. I also liked the music.
- 11:36They said there was a real cynical nature to his writing for it,
- 11:39so maybe I should watch it again and give it a chance.
- 11:41Like here it is an adult because I'm kind of a cynical writer.
- 11:44Yeah, and now that I'm actually thinking about it,
- 11:46Doug in general was kind of not the happiest guy.
- 11:51He was kind of a sad kid.
- 11:52Yeah, he seemed kind of sad, kind of awkward, kind of self-conscious,
- 11:55kind of in his own head a lot.
- 11:57It probably would be good to watch that as an adult.
- 12:00Yeah, I wonder who he has up.
- 12:02So for the truth, the first frozen margarita machine
- 12:06is at the Smithsonian.
- 12:07God damn.
- 12:08This is from Wikipedia as well.
- 12:10The inventor was Mariano Martinez in Dallas, Texas in 1971.
- 12:14He adapted a Slurpy machine to making margaritas and dubbed it,
- 12:18quote, "the world's first frozen margarita machine."
- 12:20Wow, so it wasn't even like invented for that.
- 12:24It was just a slushy maker.
- 12:26They'd poured some alcohol in as well.
- 12:29And then he gets credited for it. I don't know what all he had to change to do that
- 12:33if it really was literally just adding alcohol to it or if he did more to it.
- 12:36I mean, it says he was an inventor.
- 12:38But the machine is now in the National Museum of American History
- 12:43part of the Smithsonian Institute.
- 12:45That seems so silly to me.
- 12:47I'm not going to lie, but it's fun.
- 12:49Margaritas are fun.
- 12:51Yeah, unless you get margarita dermatitis.
- 12:53Apparently.
- 12:54So coming from health.clevelandclinic.org,
- 12:58the science behind margarita burns.
- 13:00Next time you're sipping margaritas on the patio,
- 13:02be careful when squeezing that fresh lime into your drink.
- 13:05The parts of your skin that have been exposed to both the fruit and sun
- 13:09may be vulnerable to a margarita burn.
- 13:11Medically speaking, a margarita burn is known as
- 13:14phyto-photodermatitis, and it's a form of extreme sunburn.
- 13:17What does this mouthful term mean?
- 13:20Phyto means plant, photo means light, or sun,
- 13:23and dermatitis means skin rash.
- 13:24So phyto-photodermatitis is the skin's exaggerated response to the sun,
- 13:29resulting in light to severe blistering that may look like sun poisoning or rash.
- 13:33Okay.
- 13:34It is usually from citrus fruits that contain
- 13:37furo-cumarins, which is an organic compound
- 13:42that just does not mix well with our skin and the sun.
- 13:45It also gets it from celery and carrots, buttercups,
- 13:49fennel hogweed.
- 13:50I don't know how often you sit back and have hogweed, but
- 13:53you know, it's regularly on the menu at my home.
- 13:57Yeah, you can get these.
- 13:59I've never heard of that.
- 14:00I regularly squeeze limes on patios and had no idea.
- 14:04Yeah, dude, me too, always.
- 14:06So I know they're saying it's margarita,
- 14:08but are we just saying if you didn't have any alcohol or a margarita at all,
- 14:14and you had a juice with lime in it, is it the same exact thing?
- 14:17Yes, it's only called the margarita dermatitis because a lot of people on their back
- 14:22patios, like blending them up for summer things.
- 14:24It's the most common with people.
- 14:26It's like, well, I was outside having margarita.
- 14:28Having some margarita?
- 14:29They're like, fuck that margarita.
- 14:32Yeah, so it got the name just because that was the common cause mostly.
- 14:35Damn.
- 14:36So even if you're out there squeezing a lime into your corona out there at a hot
- 14:41baseball game or anything, anything like that at all,
- 14:44you just put on that freaking sunscreen.
- 14:47Try not to get that lime on your hands.
- 14:49Good lord.
- 14:50That's my turn now then.
- 14:52And I had a really fun time with this one.
- 14:55Today, I am going to give you two truths and a lie about vandalism done to the iconic Hollywood
- 15:03sign in the Hollywood Hills of LA, California.
- 15:07Before I do that, I got all of this information just from the Wikipedia page about the Hollywood
- 15:14sign. It was actually extremely informative.
- 15:16I wanted to give a brief little backstory about the sign.
- 15:20It was built in 1923 as a temporary advertisement for a local real estate development area.
- 15:28Did you know that?
- 15:28I did not actually don't know much about the sign, but I've always been curious about it.
- 15:31Yeah. It originally didn't just say Hollywood.
- 15:35It said Hollywood land.
- 15:37And it was a development that they were building homes in that area.
- 15:42And it was just going to be a temporary like, you can see it really good on this hill,
- 15:46you know, and come over here and buy a house.
- 15:49But because it became well known and a landmark for the area, they ended up removing the land
- 15:55at the end and it just remained saying Hollywood.
- 15:58The sign was repaired in 1949.
- 16:01It was completely rebuilt in 1978.
- 16:06It was repainted in 2005 and again repainted in 2023.
- 16:12Oh, cool huh.
- 16:14Spruce throughout a bit.
- 16:15She's nice and shiny right now.
- 16:18Trevin, are you ready?
- 16:19Which of the following words was the Hollywood sign not altered to?
- 16:26So there's been a few vandalisms where people have changed the word to something else.
- 16:31So which of these is the lie?
- 16:34Is it a, Hollywood, B, Hollywood, or C, Hollywood?
- 16:43This is fun.
- 16:47Okay, so I know it's not Hollywood because I was going to say that one as an example.
- 16:51I was going to be like, oh yeah, like Hollywood.
- 16:53Exactly.
- 16:54So sure, you're torn between Hollywood or Hollywood?
- 16:59I'll go with Hollywood.
- 17:03Is the lie?
- 17:04That's the lie.
- 17:04You are right.
- 17:06Oh yes.
- 17:07Good job Trevin.
- 17:09So that one I totally made up.
- 17:13No one has done Hully poop yet, but if it is ever done, can I just claim it here and now that
- 17:20that person was inspired by me?
- 17:22Yes, you can go down as an accomplice when they get arrested.
- 17:24Thank you.
- 17:25I'll take it.
- 17:26So A and B were correct.
- 17:29A little bit about the Hully Boob alteration.
- 17:32This happened on February 1st of 2021.
- 17:37Whoa, that's recent.
- 17:38Very recent.
- 17:39The sign was altered by the YouTuber Joug Squad and Instagram influencer Julia Rose to
- 17:46challenge censorship on Instagram.
- 17:49Because a lot of people been like, why can't I put my nipple on Instagram anymore?
- 17:53It was kind of about that.
- 17:55So the word Hully Boob is anything close to putting a nipple on a screen?
- 17:58I guess.
- 17:59It was their way to do it.
- 18:00I mean, I'm all going through the nipple.
- 18:02I just, I don't see how that fights the war very well.
- 18:06And then Hully Weed, which that was one that I knew.
- 18:11I remember it being done.
- 18:13And it's funny because it was actually changed to Hully Weed multiple times, not just once.
- 18:18The first time was in January of 1976.
- 18:23By Daniel Feingood, it was following the passage of state law decriminalizing cannabis.
- 18:29The sign was altered again early on New Year's Day in 2017.
- 18:35likely as an homage to new California law legalizing recreational cannabis.
- 18:41So it was actually changed to Hully Weed twice.
- 18:44That is so fun.
- 18:45It just made me think of Kevin Smith had a TV show that he tried to launch for like showtime
- 18:49called Hully Weed.
- 18:50Oh.
- 18:51But it didn't really take.
- 18:52That's quite the bummer.
- 18:53He really should have somehow latched on to that big demonstration somehow and made it a thing.
- 18:58Because that's a really funny name.
- 19:00Yeah, it is a fun name.
- 19:01But you know what else is fun?
- 19:04Hully Weed and these ads.
- 19:07And welcome back to the show.
- 19:12Hi.
- 19:13We already said this.
- 19:14It's my week to go first.
- 19:15And I've got a story that was actually requested by a few people.
- 19:20This was one that recently popped up in the news.
- 19:25Went very viral.
- 19:26So I can't really think everybody that told me to cover it.
- 19:30But we had multiple people come in.
- 19:32And I'm so glad that you did not come across it because I think you would have
- 19:36leapt at the opportunity.
- 19:38Oh, hell.
- 19:39Well, now I'm jealous.
- 19:40Did it come through our socials or email or both?
- 19:44Socials, I think.
- 19:44Okay, okay.
- 19:46Okay, okay.
- 19:47I've seen some other people just sharing it as a meme too.
- 19:50Oh, yes.
- 19:52So that's another place where I'm like, oh no, what if you see it?
- 19:54If you know what I'm talking about, listeners already.
- 19:57We're in for a treat.
- 19:58And I can't wait to hear what you think of the story too.
- 20:01Oh my god.
- 20:02So news, viral, and recent.
- 20:05Here we go.
- 20:06To be human is to navigate a vast array of experiences.
- 20:16Trials and tribulations, moments of great success,
- 20:21pain, and everything in between.
- 20:22Whether the situation was unpleasant or ultimately rewarding,
- 20:26it's hard not to feel that its completion deserves a little treat.
- 20:31It just makes things better.
- 20:32In today's world, we've embraced a culture
- 20:35where even the smallest achievements warrant a celebration.
- 20:38Survive to Monday.
- 20:40Treat yourself to a Jack Daniels cold brew.
- 20:42Finally finish that inconvenient task you've been putting off.
- 20:46Maybe let the kids make their own dinner tonight.
- 20:47We crave praise and validation so much that we've turned every minor milestone
- 20:54into a reason for a prize.
- 20:55But this raises a crucial question.
- 20:58If a punishment can't match a crime,
- 21:00should we be celebrating achievements that don't match the accomplishment?
- 21:03Are we diluting the importance of our significant milestones by
- 21:07celebrating every minor victory with the same enthusiasm?
- 21:10It's one thing to reward yourself for getting a new job.
- 21:13But is it really necessary to have cake for dinner?
- 21:15Just for getting out of bed before noon?
- 21:16I need this.
- 21:17Our accomplishments start to feel less important when everything deserves a treat.
- 21:22Yet there's an even more frightening prospect.
- 21:24The excessive celebration.
- 21:27We've seen our fair share on this show.
- 21:28From a gender reveal kicked off with a gigantic explosion.
- 21:31To a young woman's birthday, commemorated with exposed breasts,
- 21:35and celebratory shots fired from a moving vehicle.
- 21:37It's fair to say that the lines between reasonable observance and unhinged absurdity
- 21:43often get blurred here.
- 21:44So today, as we dive into the world of over-the-top ceremonies and misplaced rewards,
- 21:50ask yourself, what happens when a celebration far outweighs the accomplishment?
- 21:54And when does a little treat become a big mistake?
- 21:57I'm the award for most masculine man of the month.
- 22:07The person who has exuded the least amount of emotion and greatest amount of strength
- 22:13goes to…
- 22:14From Roll, please.
- 22:16Joe, boy, it!
- 22:18Congratulations, Joe.
- 22:22You get your name framed on the wall for the next 30 days.
- 22:25Standing from his chair, the newly crowned, most masculine man of the month,
- 22:31gave a bow to his fellow co-workers.
- 22:32"I finally did it!" he thought to himself, maintaining a blank expression,
- 22:38so no one knew how excited he was.
- 22:39With the announcement made, Joe sat back down, knowing the all eyes were on him.
- 22:44He thought about how sore the other guys at his warehouse must be,
- 22:48knowing that, for the next month, they would drive their giant diesel-guzzling
- 22:52trucks while realizing they were no more than second manliest.
- 22:55"This identity is expensive."
- 22:57For the rest of the day, Joe lifted heavy boxes and completed all of his tasks
- 23:01with an ego so full you'd think it just went to a Chinese buffet.
- 23:04He held his head high and puffed out his chest.
- 23:07After sneaking away to take a 30-minute dump on company time,
- 23:11he put his sunglasses on the back of his head for style, swaggering like an 80s action star.
- 23:15"Look at world, there's a new man in town."
- 23:20As the work day came to a close, Joe took his newfound confidence home with him.
- 23:24He walked through the front door, dick first, as if he were led by the source of his masculine power.
- 23:29"Merry, his girlfriend, was drawn to his animal magnetism,
- 23:34like a tractor beam from a sci-fi film."
- 23:36"Something is different about you."
- 23:39"Merry said, dabbing away the precipitation from her chest."
- 23:42"And I really like it."
- 23:44Joe put his hands on his hips in a power stance.
- 23:47"Well, you're looking at the manliest man of the month at Big Boy Warehouse," he announced.
- 23:52"Merry looked at her accomplished partner. He had been trying to prove that he's the manliest
- 23:56since the day she met him. Finally, he did it. His toxic masculine behavior throughout the
- 24:01years paid off, and he was given the title of "Man." "Oh my God, babe, this is huge. We have to
- 24:07celebrate." "Merry exclaimed, jumping up from the couch." "No, we can't." Joe quickly interrupted.
- 24:14"As much as I am happy about my accomplishment, it's the most manly thing for me to put up a fight
- 24:19and act like you're inconveniencing me with wanting to celebrate my achievement. It's best that I
- 24:23treat your happiness with resistance before eventually giving in and celebrating me anyway."
- 24:27"Merry paused at Joe's rare demonstration of self-awareness, knowing that it would be at least
- 24:32an hour of arguing before she could get him to do the thing he truly wanted to do. But before
- 24:36she began stroking his ego to start the process, she got a great idea. With her hands gripping the
- 24:42bottom of her oversized house shirt, she quickly lifted and exposed her ample bosom. Joe's defense
- 24:48is fell, as she leaned in and said the most adductive thing she could think of. "Let's go get tacos.
- 24:54And after? I'll let you do that thing you always asked to do."
- 24:57Joe's body tensed up, causing him to inadvertently squeeze the dog toy he had bought on his way home.
- 25:04That act was saved for the most sacred of milestones. Occasion so sanctified, he had only seen one in
- 25:11the span of their entire relationship. He licked his lips, thinking of the pleasure coming his way.
- 25:16Not only did this mysterious sex act sound like a good time, but tacos on a Tuesday are always
- 25:21better than any other weekday. The cheese, the grease, the random table celebrating a birthday nearby,
- 25:28and the excuse to get drunk on a weeknight made Joe realize this had the potential to be the best
- 25:34night of his life. "I'll do anything you want, mommy," he said, wishing our story forward in time.
- 25:40The two sat down near the window at rodeo mexican restaurant.
- 25:46Mary scooted herself up against her man, pressing her warm body against him.
- 25:50"Whoa, you're really excited aren't you?" Joe asked, loving the closeness.
- 25:55"We gotta make room for Bart and Chelsea are."
- 25:59"What?" Joe quietly cut Mary off. "You better not be backing on that thing tonight."
- 26:04"You said?"
- 26:04"Relax." Mary said. "I'm not backing out."
- 26:09"I'm well aware of what I'm expected to do later tonight."
- 26:12"I just thought I'd share the occasion with our best friends."
- 26:15Joe began to relax as he did distort the chip in Aramican, a restaurant-style salsa.
- 26:21"Okay, good. Bart is probably gonna be pretty bitter about not getting the most manliest man of the
- 26:26month though. I mean, he just got that text as a decent truck. He probably thought he was owed that
- 26:30award." Mary rolled her eyes, thinking of all the times Joe reminded her of how dramatic women are
- 26:36before having her thoughts interrupted by Bart and Chelsea.
- 26:38"Hey guys!" Bart said excitedly. "Thanks for having us here to celebrate the big night.
- 26:44Most manliest man of the month. Joe, I never thought this month would come. I guess wearing sunglasses
- 26:50on the back of your head well into the night really does send a strong message."
- 26:54"I guess it does," Joe responded, quite aware of Bart's catiness. "I just took it one day at a time
- 27:00and wore sunglasses in a way that they weren't designed to be worn."
- 27:03"It's certainly not a Texas edition truck, is it?"
- 27:07The dinner went on with the two couples getting their own respective plates of tacos,
- 27:11and keeping their waiter very busy with chips and margarita refills. "Mass drinky pork bar."
- 27:16It was a taco Tuesday filled with good food, strong drinks, and tension so thick,
- 27:21it would need a carne asada stick knife to cut.
- 27:23Joe and Mary overindulged, turning their celebratory nature into increasingly bizarre forms of
- 27:29gloating. "Oops, my boob fell out of my shirt." Bart and Chelsea momentarily stopping their drinking,
- 27:35just watched the show. "Oh no, how did you nipple fall all the way into my mouth?"
- 27:40After Joe had already performed, mouth to boob resuscitation,
- 27:45Chelsea had her phone at the ready. Unsure of what the manliest man of the month and his girlfriend
- 27:49might do next. It seemed that Joe and Mary had reached the peak of their bizarre antics
- 27:54in the booth of the rodeo Mexican restaurant, until Joe remembered the special favor, coming his way.
- 27:58"You think that was hot?" Joe drunkenly announced to his friends.
- 28:02"You should hear about what risqué thing Mary is going to congratulate me with later."
- 28:06All eyes turned to Mary, who shrugged her shoulders in embarrassment.
- 28:10She squirmed, worried that the details of this intimate act might change our friends' view to her.
- 28:15But then she thought about how shit blasted drunk she was from housing margaritas all night.
- 28:20"Hear about it? Why don't we show them?"
- 28:23She said, ready to give her boyfriend his present early in the front of everyone.
- 28:28"Babe, we would need a funnel," Joe said, ever the realist when it comes to logistics.
- 28:33"Let's just ask him."
- 28:34Mary yelled, flagging down the waiter they had been abusing all evening.
- 28:38"Help me, I help you, ma'am."
- 28:40The waiter asked. Mary confidently asked,
- 28:43"Do you have any funnels in the kitchen or anything like that?"
- 28:46The waiter looked at the inebriated couple and considered how much he hated his job.
- 28:50Day in and day out, he dealt with bad tips and complaints about salsa being too spicy.
- 28:55He had missed his nephew's birthday from mandatory Cinco de Mayo.
- 28:58He could get a different job tomorrow if he wanted.
- 29:00Losing this one, maybe worth the story he could tell later.
- 29:03"Absolutely!" the man responded,
- 29:06"Let me see if I can find a funnel for your drunk ass."
- 29:08The waiter disappeared into the kitchen area, as Bart looked over at Chelsea, unsure of what they
- 29:13were about to witness. She pulled out her phone and hit record, framing her best friends from across
- 29:18the booth. Soon after hitting the red circle on her phone, the waiter returned and handed a dark blue
- 29:23funnel to Joe. Joe stood up, turning his hat backwards and giving his best 90s budwaiser bro laugh.
- 29:29Mary got on all fours in the booth, pulling down her pants to expose her butt cheeks and light red
- 29:34thong. Joe laughed again, lining himself up behind Mary and looking over at his friends.
- 29:41With one hand gripping the top of the funnel, he stuck the end in his mouth,
- 29:45then pulled it out and lined it up as if to insert in Mary's rectum.
- 29:50Chelsea continued to record her body giving every signal to take flight.
- 29:53"I'm just kidding!" Joe said, laughing at his humorous misdirection.
- 29:58With his crowd recoiling in fear, he placed the funnel at the shallows part of Mary's butt crack
- 30:04and lifted his margarita high. Finally, he was going to relive his fantasy of being like the hip-hop artist
- 30:10in the music videos. He was going to drink a margarita, poured right down his partner's booty cleavage,
- 30:15and the funnel was going to make the job a lot easier within the constraints of the vigno.
- 30:19Joe got into position, attempting to balance himself, the funnel, the margarita, and his head.
- 30:25Each time he'd lunch forward, he lost all coordination, looking more like a baby trying to dance.
- 30:30It couldn't be done. Mexican restaurant booths were not made with the ergonomics of drinking from an
- 30:35ass in mind. The funnel was a novel idea, but Joe knew it was now or never. His funnel technique would
- 30:40need to be perfected on his own time. Right now, he had his girls butt in the air, his friends
- 30:45recording him, and other patrons watching from across the room. It's not polite to stare, Henry.
- 30:50Going against everything his parents and teachers taught him, Joe discarded the funnel, and
- 30:54raw-dogged that booty booze, lime juice, tequila, salt, and ice, ran down Mary's cavern of curiosities,
- 31:03where Joe's mouth waited, attempting to seek nourishment. Joe drank it up, no crumbs, drunk on Jose
- 31:10and poo particles, he called out for assistance from the waiter. Excuse me, sir. We seem to have
- 31:15had a spill. He said, lifting his finger to his lips and making the face of a bad boy.
- 31:20The waiter brought Joe to hell, while Mary went to the restroom to clean herself off.
- 31:25"How did that lime get in there?" Everything got cleaned up, Joe paid for the dinner, and tipped with
- 31:30his new man money. And Mary left the restaurant feeling a little less vanilla than she once believed
- 31:34herself to be. Time went on. Joe's manliest man of the month title changed with the turning of
- 31:40the next calendar page. He was back to trying everything he could to be a man once again.
- 31:44While Mary was looking at herself, with a bit more confidence,
- 31:47everything seemed as it was before the celebration, until a call from Mary's mother changed everything.
- 31:53"I heard a rumor about you," she said with sadness in her voice, before going into full detail
- 32:00of what she had heard. With no specific spirit, she explained everything that had gone on,
- 32:05as if she were actually there. But the part at the end totally caught Mary by surprise.
- 32:10"I saw the video, honey. They're calling you one chuggers!"
- 32:14Mary's ass went colder than night she had a margarita in it. A abruptly ending the call.
- 32:18She jumped in her car and went to Chelsea's work.
- 32:20"I let my boyfriend drink a margarita from my ass in front of you in a Mexican restaurant
- 32:27in confidence." She yelled, stomping her way up to her friend.
- 32:31"I thought we had a nice time. I was at your wedding!"
- 32:35She continued to yell, "Listen, the whole night made me really uncomfortable,"
- 32:40Chelsea spoke for the first time in the story. "You all were so drunk.
- 32:44I didn't pour the margarita up your butthole."
- 32:46"It wasn't up my butt!" Mary interrupted.
- 32:49"It was down my crack."
- 32:50Chelsea sighed, "Either way, you did it in public. I'm sorry my sharing it made you upset,
- 32:57but you seemed pretty proud of it at the moment. It's been shared so much. I can't stop it now."
- 33:02Mary continued to yell at her friend, before making a threat that was more self-inflicting than she
- 33:08had originally intended. "Well, I'm gonna call the police and make them make you take it down."
- 33:14"Now."
- 33:14In April 2024, Georgia couple, Joe Boyette and Mary Sweat, were filmed by friends as Joe drank a
- 33:23margarita poured down Mary's butt crack at rodeo Mexican restaurant in Wakecross, Georgia.
- 33:27According to TMZ, the couple's antics began with Mary exposing her breasts, prompting Joe to put
- 33:34her left nipple in his mouth as she pulled him closer. Things escalated when they decided to attempt
- 33:38the margarita maneuver. Videos show a rodeo restaurant employee, bringing Joe a funnel, as Mary
- 33:44got down on all fours in the booth. Joe pretended to use the funnel before discarding it and going
- 33:48asked a mouth in front of his friends. The couple miraculously left the restaurant without any incident,
- 33:54but the video taken had viral aspirations. For the following 12 weeks, the original cell phone
- 33:59recording spread like wildfire among anyone who loves Mexican restaurants, margaritas, and butt crack
- 34:04content. Embarrassed and frustrated with the viral attention, Mary went to the police to complain,
- 34:10hoping to get the video removed. However, once police investigations uncovered the fanny feasting
- 34:15video, arrest warrants were issued. Within two days of the warrants being placed, both Joe Boyette
- 34:21and Mary Sweat turned themselves in. They were each charged with a single misdemeanor of public
- 34:25and decency. As this is a newer arrest, no punishments have been officially made. According to
- 34:30lowpezlaw.com, a class B misdemeanor in Georgia can earn you a maximum of six months in prison and
- 34:35a fine of $500. While a class A misdemeanor can result nut to one year in prison and a fine of $1000.
- 34:42In case you're wondering, no, I have no idea if Joe and Mary were celebrating anything specific.
- 34:48For all I know, Joe and Mary might be the most adventurous couple around, with every night filled
- 34:54with funnels, cell phone videos, and butt stuff. If I were doing something like this,
- 34:58it would have to be for a special occasion. Assuming this was a celebration, I can't imagine
- 35:03what accomplishment would warrant this level of observance. Honestly, making a rap video is the
- 35:08only milestone worthy of drinking from an ass, but maybe I'm just vanilla. With the rap video
- 35:13rule firmly in place, I'm throwing a flag and calling an excessive celebration penalty on this
- 35:18Georgia couple. Whether this was for a fictitious award or just a simple taco Tuesday,
- 35:23nothing deserves a public display of these proportions. I'm not saying the act itself is bad,
- 35:27or worthy of shaming. I just want the celebration to match the accomplishment.
- 35:31If you wake up having all your prayers answered, win the lottery and lose 20 pounds,
- 35:36buy all means, get your partner's consent, and pour a mudslide down her fudge maker.
- 35:40Shotgun a coolers light off her meat seat, or take a simple shot of rum from her bum. As Tray Song's
- 35:45aptly puts it, bottoms up. Oh, I love that song bottoms up. I thought you would. I know the whole
- 35:53Nicki Minaj rap part to that. Well, maybe one day will have to have you do it for the people.
- 35:58One day. One day. I'm actually offended because I am into Mexican restaurants, margaritas,
- 36:06and butt crack content. And I have not heard about this viral crime. I think it literally just went
- 36:12viral about a week and a half ago from the day we're recording this. Oh my god. Okay, okay, okay.
- 36:17I mean, that was before my trip, so I really don't have an excuse. Yeah, it was before your trip.
- 36:22I was so scared that you were gonna quickly just say the name and say I'm calling it first because
- 36:25I give you a grace period. Okay, you're like, okay, I'll give you two days time. You don't
- 36:32dip, it's mine. Yeah, if I got a ride, I'm right in this butt crack story. Damn, ma. I really kind of
- 36:38want to watch the video, even though I have to say that's very inappropriate to do in a Mexican restaurant.
- 36:46I will agree on that. But on the other token, if one of my friends in quotes takes a video of me and
- 36:55I'm hammer doing something idiotic and then post it online without me wanting it on there.
- 37:01That's not a real friend either. No, that's not a very good friend. I don't know how good a
- 37:06friend's they are. That's kind of why I wrote that they were sort of iffy with each other. Yeah, yeah.
- 37:11But she totally spread it and that wasn't making that up about him putting the funnel in his mouth
- 37:16and pretending as if to insert it. Yeah, he does that in the video. He lines up behind her and puts the funnel
- 37:22in his mouth and was like, and then what lines up? Oh God. He looks over at the camera like,
- 37:28does he do the bad boy thing? No, he doesn't do the bad boy thing.
- 37:33Where he puts a finger to his mouth. That was so funny when you said that. It just made me think
- 37:40of Chris Farley and I just wanted to put it in. I was hoping that D-Dull was true. Yeah, but a lot
- 37:46of the details are true. She really did whip out her boobs, did it the nip thing. Holy. And I know
- 37:52sometimes we write these silly body stuff in our stories. I say, oh, she got so hot and bothered,
- 37:57she just fluped a boob out for a moment. Yeah. But in this situation, when you see how that she
- 38:02acted when she got drunk, I could see her drawing him out to dinner by giving him a quick flash.
- 38:07Yeah. Sounds very making sense to me. It's all very inappropriate and everyone made mistakes here.
- 38:15Okay. But the betrayal and can I just say the Patreon I assume member is who you gave that friend
- 38:23role to, right? Oh yes, Chelsea. Thank you for being a patron. Chelsea R was it? I believe so.
- 38:28Yes. Even though you did have the role of being the uncomfortable friend that later snitched,
- 38:34we appreciate you, Chelsea, for being a felony level Patreon member. Thank you so much.
- 38:41If you guys want to be in our story too, you can. Just like Chelsea. Yeah. And you played a very
- 38:45integral part of the story because if you watched the video in a sense, you're watching it from your
- 38:49perspective. That's deep shit right there. But hopefully not too deep in that shit. If you know what I
- 38:56mean, ice cold. When you said her ass turned colder than the night of the margarita. Night she had a margarita
- 39:02in it. Oh my god. I died. And honestly, I would be really embarrassed if my grandmother saw a video of
- 39:09me doing that. Very embarrassed. I'm not saying that they were in the right because they were doing
- 39:15this all in public. I mean, if it wasn't Chelsea R recording it, it was probably anyone else there.
- 39:20You know, I just don't like that a friend put it on there. Yeah. That does suck. That's a very
- 39:25petty move. So what would you have to accomplish to drink a but margarita? Oh my god.
- 39:32To drink it off Jordan's butt or like a cute girl, but these are two different types of butt
- 39:39chugging, you know, let's go cute girl, but cute girl, but I wouldn't have to do much. Really.
- 39:45I'll do it for that sticker on the table right there. Honestly, god, it wouldn't take that much
- 39:53for me to do. Okay, well, how about this way? Let's put you in the girl's position. Okay. What would
- 39:58it take for you to be the margarita but. Okay, if Jordan came home and he was like, hey, baby,
- 40:05I'd just paid off all our debt. I'd be like, get me a funnel. What a real response. I like that.
- 40:12What about you? Oh my god. I don't know. You get us on number one on the Apple charts.
- 40:19If we are number one on the Apple charts, I'm setting it up and I'm going to be that friend
- 40:26Chelsea R. I'm going to be the friend that posted to our podcast social media if trevine and Emily
- 40:32do indeed do that. Okay. So viral. Wow. That was a good one. I'm a little offended. It didn't pop up
- 40:38on my feed because sounds like something I would enjoy. Mm-hmm. If it was anything related to salsa,
- 40:43I think you would have known. Yeah. I think you would have like felt it in the air. But then again,
- 40:48you did the ball sex salsa story and I hadn't heard of that one. That's a good point.
- 40:54You guys, we have something really exciting to share with you. Let's hear a few words from our new pod besties.

- 41:45Spotify or wherever you listen to your favorite True Crime Podcast.
- 41:50Check them out, creepy people. Their info is in our show notes.
- 41:54So I also have a story from the news. And right now I currently have, I mean it's a decent handful.
- 42:06I think both you and I do we kind of keep story ideas that we see in the news like a storage
- 42:12unit full of them, right? We have all these ideas in there. I probably have 200 tabs open up on my
- 42:17Google Chrome on my phone and I'm just like, boy you're playing a dangerous game. That is so dangerous.
- 42:23I just kind of will copy the main little bit of it and put it in a note folder. That's what I do.
- 42:29Because yeah, the tabs can be very scary. So I have a handful of these and I was going to go through
- 42:35them until one night I woke up. I was kind of in and out of sleep. I was about to fall asleep and I
- 42:41shot right up in my bed and I was like, what if there was a crime out there where this and this
- 42:46happened? I immediately looked it up, found this one. Also, I've been telling you Trevin how I wanted
- 42:54to do a story from the past. Yes. And this one does technically begin in the 1950s, but most of it
- 43:03happens in the 90s. So I'm going to say this is a win-win. This is the story that had it all for me
- 43:10in this moment. So anyway, without any other build up, here we go. Every individual assesses varying
- 43:22characteristics which make them unique. Maybe it's their rare ability to remember every single food
- 43:29item they had and on what day. I still remember the Tinder roast you made on March 12 of 2002.
- 43:36Or maybe they have a distinct cackle that serves as a GPS if you lose them in a crowd.
- 43:42But there is one way a person can lose all individuality from the moment they are conceived.
- 43:50And that is by being a twin. For a fraternal twins, independence can be stolen over years of being
- 43:59made to wear matching clothing to events. Identical twins are constantly called the wrong name
- 44:05by their loved ones. And can join twins only get half a say about what goes into their body.
- 44:15Although all twins share a connection of some sort, not all of them are similar in the eyes of the law.
- 44:28Today, I'm here to share a mostly true tale of how twinning turned to sinning.
- 44:35Rhae Dean Nugent and Jay Jean Nugent were twins born on July 13 of 1956.
- 44:45Jay was slightly bigger than Ray, shoving himself past a smaller twin to exit the birth canal first.
- 44:51They were fraternal twins, meaning they had slight differences in appearance. While Ray had green eyes,
- 44:59Jay had brown. Ray's hair was straight as an arrow, just like his rule following personality.
- 45:04Jay's hair on the other hand was wavy and wild, just like his rebel persona.
- 45:10Regardless of their differences, their full names and wardrobes were nearly identical of each other.
- 45:17The twins used the similarity to switch identities as needed while growing up.
- 45:22As adolescents, Ray would take math tests that Jay was afraid to fail.
- 45:29And Jay went to second base with Ray's girlfriend for him when he was too scared to make a move.
- 45:34Yet, the older the brothers got, the more they drifted apart.
- 45:40Ray wanted a normal, stable, and boring life. While it was clear that Jay desired an eccentric,
- 45:47transient, and bold existence.
- 45:49In 1988, Ray was in his early 30s and living well in the sunny state of California as a contractor.
- 45:59It had been a few years since he had last seen or spoken to his twin brother, Jay.
- 46:03Some of his closest friends would joke that his evil twin brother was all
- 46:08employed to get him out of trouble. This theory always caused the room to erupt and laughter,
- 46:13as Ray was nothing more than a delightful rule abiding citizen.
- 46:17It was after one of these calm hangouts with his friends that Ray got into his vehicle and drove
- 46:23himself home. He had made sure not to drink at the party, keeping his eyes steady and focused on
- 46:29the road and his hands at 10 and 2. He cruised at an appropriate speed, yielded to oncoming traffic,
- 46:36and even gave others the right way. Suddenly, an adorable squirrel darted out in front of Ray,
- 46:43causing him to swerve into a ditch. Luckily, Ray, his car, and the squirrel were all safe. Yet,
- 46:51a police officer pulled up behind him with their lights on.
- 46:54I see you had an accident and I came by to make sure things were all right. Have you been drinking
- 47:02tonight, sir? I swerve for a squirrel officer. I haven't had a drop of liquor and I can assure you
- 47:07that I mean no harm on the road. Were you aware that one of your headlights is now out?
- 47:12Good heavens no. I'll get that fixed right away. Before that, license and registration, please.
- 47:19Ray eagerly handed over his documentation, sure that he would be back on the road in no time.
- 47:24Only the encounter started taking much longer than he expected.
- 47:28Each long moment of waiting in the driver's seat,
- 47:32caused Ray to grow more worried about getting a ticket. His fears only intensified, when another
- 47:38police cruiser parked behind the first cop. After what seemed like a lifetime, the two officers came
- 47:46back to his vehicle. The first officer spoke again, with the second one standing behind her as backup.
- 47:53Sir, you have an outstanding warrant for a bank robbery and shootout. We are going to need you to
- 47:59put your hands behind your back and come with us. What? This has got to be some sort of a mistake.
- 48:04For five hours at the station, Ray pleaded his innocence to the officers.
- 48:10I promise I'm a good man. I follow all the rules. Have you checked into my evil twin brother?
- 48:15Maybe he has something to do with this. But the cops just continued to gather round and laugh and
- 48:20raise face. After hours of ridicule, one of the head detectives finally stepped in. His face looked
- 48:29stoic, with burrowed brows and a frowny mouthy. Mr. Nugent, it appears there has been a mix-up with
- 48:37your arrest. You see, when you told the officers that you had an evil twin brother, it sounded too
- 48:42ridiculous to be true. However, we have indeed found proof of your twin existing. What was your
- 48:47mother thinking naming you both Ray Dean and Jay Jean? I can't answer that question, but what I
- 48:53can't say is I'm ready to get out of here. Here's the contact information to a member of the FBI
- 48:58if you are to run into this issue in the future. Good luck out there, son. Must be rough having an evil
- 49:04twin. Five years had gone by, with Ray having only minor inconveniences with law since his first
- 49:11false arrest. Sure, he also experienced scorn unknown women claring and spitting at him on the streets.
- 49:18But he tried not to take offense to it. He knew it must be his twin Jay they were really mad at.
- 49:24Besides, he had a pretty great life of his own, regardless of what his twin may be up to.
- 49:29The year was now 1993, and Ray decided to drive down to Malibu for a beach day. He parked his vehicle
- 49:37under a shady tree and quickly walked toward the ocean. He had made it halfway there when he realized
- 49:43he forgot his sunglasses in his car. Ray turned back and was alarmed to see a policeman parked next
- 49:49to his vehicle. Sir, is this your vehicle parked right here under the shady tree? Why yes it is. I
- 49:55thought I had snagged quite the spot for a beach day. You know what else sits underneath this shady tree?
- 50:01A no parking sign, license and registration. Okay, but I have to warn you about my evil twin first.
- 50:08Look, I have an FBI contact card for you to call with questions.
- 50:12Ray reluctantly handed over his ID as the officer laughed off his warning and returned to the cruiser.
- 50:19Not five minutes later, two other police cruisers pulled up behind the first officer with their
- 50:25blue and red lights flashing. They stepped out, armed and aiming at Ray and shouted out demands.
- 50:32Sir, stepped out of the vehicle and put your hands up. Oh my god, not again.
- 50:38For years, Ray Dean Nugent had been mistaken multiple times for his twin
- 50:48Jane G. Nugent's crimes by police officers. Even though the twins had slight differences in
- 50:55appearances as they grew older, such as height, eye color and hair, it still became an issue.
- 51:01While Ray's record was clean, Jay had a warrant out for his arrest for a 1985 armed robbery.
- 51:08The robbery took place at the St. Laundry Bank and Trust Company in small town, Opelosa, Louisiana.
- 51:15Jay was accused of stealing $7,000 from the bank before engaging local officers in a gun shootout
- 51:23and then fling into the woods. So three years later, in 1988, when South Pasadena police pulled over Ray
- 51:31after a minor traffic accident, his twin brothers arrest warrant was incorrectly linked to him.
- 51:37Police held Ray for five hours before detectives discovered their mistake.
- 51:42They then released Ray with an apology and gave him an FBI contact number, should he encounter a
- 51:49similar problem. Get five years later, in 1933, a similar arrest happened after receiving a
- 51:56parking ticket in Malibu, California. Only this time, Ray was held for much longer.
- 52:02Despite receiving many calls from family in Arkansas, an Arkansas congressman, and an FBI agent
- 52:09assisted by Ray in the investigation of his brother, he was still jailed without bill on an FBI
- 52:16fugitive warrant from June 9 to June 22, 1993, a total of 13 days.
- 52:23Officials say that the length of time held was particularly due to a mix-up in fingerprints
- 52:29provided by the FBI and that it took nine days before Opelosa, Louisiana police, acknowledged that
- 52:37his prints didn't match the suspect. It then took four more days before he was released.
- 52:43Shortly after, Ray filed federal and superior court lawsuits against the Los Angeles County Sheriff's
- 52:49Department for what he says was false imprisonment and malicious disregard of evidence showing that he
- 52:55was not Jay. He was seeking $13 million in damages, a million dollars for every day he was kept
- 53:02in jail cells with dangerous gangsters. In the end, the board of supervisors agreed to pay Ray a
- 53:08settlement of $150,000 for wrongly putting him in jail for 13 days. Ray was quoted saying,
- 53:16"I love my twin brother, you know. I've never been angry with him, but I am angry about the way
- 53:20the police treated me. I didn't know fun on the streets when a policeman pulls a gun on you.
- 53:24I've always understood it, but I'm tired of understanding it."
- 53:27Authorities at the time believe Jay was somewhere out in the Canadian wilderness.
- 53:34The connection between twins is a mysterious and powerful thing. Used for good, it can create
- 53:41iconic movies or a lasting friendship for life, but used for evil, and it can consume the wrong person's
- 53:49entire identity. For all you twins out there, beware, having an uncontrollable clone running around
- 53:57is sure to come with double the trouble.
- 54:02I can see how the idea of it sprung you to make this search. That is a fun idea that we've never
- 54:07done anything like that before. It makes me think of that gripply's fact. You did that one time
- 54:12about the guy who didn't know he had a twin. Yes! I am very fascinated by twins. Yes, I did that
- 54:19fact where they had actually vacation to the same spot. All their lives and never ran into each other,
- 54:25which was crazy. This one, yeah, I specifically wanted to know if there had ever been a time where a
- 54:32twin was blamed for another twins' crimes. Yes, that has happened. I found a few of them. A lot of
- 54:38them were obviously more morbid crimes that we don't talk about. But this one grabbed me because it
- 54:45was an older one like I wanted. It had the twin thing that I was going for. Yes, there was a
- 54:51shootout involved, but no one was killed or anything. It was a robbery and a shootout. He was pulled over
- 54:57for the most ridiculous parking tickets and shit. I just thought it was perfect. It makes his brother
- 55:04the petty criminal, but at the same time his treatment is also the petty accident as well. Yes!
- 55:10I wasn't sure we were going to have another thing. Like a surprise or a twist. I was a second thing,
- 55:15yeah. I was kind of trying at the beginning to make you think that maybe I was trying to get back at
- 55:22you for fight clubbing me not long ago. I was trying to tease it. A lot of his friends thought his
- 55:29evil twin was made up. I was trying to throw little things in there. But the main thing was that
- 55:34his brother was a petty criminal. He technically was a petty criminal too because he kept getting pulled
- 55:41over by police for different things. Parking in bad spots. Then he also said that they were being
- 55:47petty criminals for keeping him for the 13 days and he ended up getting money. So there was like a
- 55:52lot of different attacks. I totally get trying to sue for a million dollars a day. If I had to lose
- 55:58that many days of my precious time. Yeah, I know. Oh my god. I can't imagine if that happened to me,
- 56:04I would just have to go back to work Monday. Nobody would be like, "Oh well, those bills don't have
- 56:09to be due." Oh, this doesn't happen. This dude still missed out on a lot of stuff. I know. 150,000. It's a
- 56:15good amount of money, but it doesn't reset your life. I know. I know. This was not the first time.
- 56:21These were the only two times that I had documentation of. In one of the articles that I found,
- 56:29it did say that this had happened many other times. That's why when I was kind of going through time,
- 56:34I was like, "He had a few interactions, but nothing horrible." Then I just talked about those. But
- 56:39apparently this was a very common thing in this guy's life. He had an FBI contact. He had the
- 56:46Senator of whatever of Arkansas vouching for him. There were all these people and still nobody
- 56:52listened. It's bizarre. One of the most frustrating things in the world is when you can communicate
- 56:56something and nobody seems to hear what you're saying or process what you're saying. I'm a person
- 57:03who overcommunicates because I try not to have a lot of drama issues because I feel like communication
- 57:07solves that. For him to say, "I have an evil twin," or, "Hey, I have this FBI card, a legit
- 57:14FBI card." At least just call this FBI card before you put me in cuffs. I know. For that to still fail
- 57:20that has got to feel so helpless and awful. I can't imagine how frustrating that situation must be.
- 57:26The dialogue that I wrote, I did purposely make it sound a little more far-fetched. I doubt he was
- 57:33like, "I have an evil twin brother." But having the FBI card. Still, he had something and I get that
- 57:40that can seem maybe made up too for someone who's desperate, but all they had to do was call the damn
- 57:46number and take it seriously a little. Even if that guy wasn't in the office or went to somebody
- 57:51who was there, I'm sure they could be like, "Oh yeah, the dude's got a weird tie in with this guy."
- 57:56Easy. Yeah. So I'm glad he did get paid, but it was definitely not the payout he was asking for.
- 58:02No. I was hoping he would at least just get the one millie. No, not even one millie. Damn.
- 58:08A millie, a millie, a millie. No, none of that. Gosh dang trevine. Do we have a connection?
- 58:14So this is the only thing I had. I was kind of just following all of the different back story of yours,
- 58:19so I was kind of missing some, but I do have one connection for sure. Sun glasses. Sun glasses.
- 58:26My manly men were so manly because they were the sunglasses on the back of their head. In the way
- 58:30it wasn't designed to be made to be cool. In one year's instances Ray had to go back because he forgot
- 58:35his sunglasses on his car. Oh my god. See, I forgot about that part of my story. I'm like,
- 58:41what did I tell sunglasses? Yeah. Yeah. I needed a way to get them back there quickly for storytelling
- 58:46purposes. I mean, technically my guys didn't have sunglasses either, so. Yeah. No, made up. We felt
- 58:51it was a good plot device. Made up sunglasses got us to the plot for you all. So stay shady out
- 58:59there friends. And you know, it's a summer episode still, so maybe we just had summer and sunglasses
- 59:04on the brain. Honestly, the summer is coming to an end on this very month at some point. So yeah,
- 59:10I get it. I get it. Well, I hope everyone out there is having the best week. And just remember,
- 59:17no matter the crime, big or small, in the end, we're all doomed. Doom to drink a margarita from a dish.
