Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: This is where country music comes alive.
- 0:03Speaker 2: All right, you ready?
- 0:04Speaker 3: Here we go. From Nashville's biggest headlines to country music's
- 0:07Speaker 3: biggest headliners. Come on. You're getting an inside look at
- 0:11Speaker 3: the stories behind the songs and the artists behind the music.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Let's go backstage and inside country. With Way D.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Excited because it's been a minute since we caught up
- 0:25Speaker 2: with this dude, and let's just say, The rocket fuel
- 0:28Speaker 2: is in the tank and my man's taking off doing
- 0:30Speaker 2: big things.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I like that.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Chase Matthew.
- 0:32Speaker 1: What up, dude? What's up? Rocket fuel. That's cool. Hell yeah.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Success seems like it's kind of just fallen in your
- 0:39Speaker 2: lap lately. Not that you're not working hard for it,
- 0:41Speaker 2: but it feels like, Holy cow. You're like everywhere right now.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, that's cool. I'm glad you see it
- 0:47Speaker 1: like that. I'm honest.
- 0:48Speaker 3: I just try to keep my head down and focused
- 0:51Speaker 3: and work. You know, I think it's, like with the
- 0:54Speaker 3: creative side of things, I'm just always trying to make
- 0:56Speaker 3: something new.
- 0:57Speaker 1: And if the people like it, then cool, man. I just,
- 1:00Speaker 1: I don't know, but it has been a lot of
- 1:02Speaker 1: cool stuff happening lately though. I definitely, you know, we
- 1:04Speaker 1: just had the number one with Lauren and a lot
- 1:07Speaker 1: of cool things just happening. So yeah.
- 1:09Speaker 2: And I want to ask about that because you are
- 1:11Speaker 2: still very much starting your career. Yeah. You're still introducing
- 1:15Speaker 2: yourself to new fans every day.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Yes, sir.
- 1:19Speaker 2: But then at the same time, you ended up on
- 1:21Speaker 2: somebody else's song. Is that, like, is there a challenge
- 1:25Speaker 2: there between like, Hey, I'm still getting started like, and
- 1:28Speaker 2: trying to figure out who I am as an artist
- 1:30Speaker 2: and make sure people discover me.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, I think there probably is a happy
- 1:35Speaker 3: medium of like, Hey, I'm Chase Matthew, but I'm also
- 1:38Speaker 3: like the new guy on the block. And I don't
- 1:40Speaker 3: expect you to know who I am. You know, like I,
- 1:43Speaker 3: I always say, um, on tour with Jason Aldean, I
- 1:45Speaker 3: was always just like, you know, Hey guys, I don't,
- 1:47Speaker 3: I don't expect any of y'all to know who I am,
- 1:49Speaker 3: but my name is Chase Matthew and, uh, I'm from Tennessee. And,
- 1:53Speaker 3: I'm on the morning show, Big Naughty A right now,
- 1:56Speaker 3: with Wayne D and Tay.
- 1:57Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 1:58Speaker 3: Like, I don't expect them to know that, you know?
- 2:00Speaker 3: I think it's always an opportunity. If there's ever an
- 2:03Speaker 3: opportunity to reintroduce myself, whether these people have met me
- 2:07Speaker 3: or not before, that's always cool to me because it's
- 2:09Speaker 3: like I feel like I get to show my side
- 2:12Speaker 3: of the tape. Like, I'm not always an artist. I'm
- 2:15Speaker 3: a person, too.
- 2:16Speaker 1: You know what I mean? So it's cool to always show.
- 2:19Speaker 3: With my career at least, the inside look on me
- 2:21Speaker 3: is not only a musician, but, you know, a gearhead,
- 2:24Speaker 3: you know, like, mechanic, all of.
- 2:27Speaker 1: It, you know?
- 2:27Speaker 2: Yeah. Your friendship with Lauren has been fully on display
- 2:32Speaker 2: as you guys have promoted this song.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I love Lauren.
- 2:34Speaker 2: All the way up to number one. What do you
- 2:35Speaker 2: think this song going number one has done for the
- 2:39Speaker 2: connection you guys have, not only as artists, but as friends? I.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Man, I'm so happy for Lauren, number one, because, you know, she.
- 2:48Speaker 3: was explaining to me how much this song really means
- 2:50Speaker 3: to her and seeing it go up the chart and,
- 2:53Speaker 3: and the backstory behind the song and like all this,
- 2:55Speaker 3: it's actually about a, a funny story on Broadway and
- 2:58Speaker 3: I'm not going to spill the beans too much, but
- 3:00Speaker 3: she's told me what this song's about.
- 3:01Speaker 1: So to see it go all the way up is
- 3:03Speaker 1: pretty cool.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Um, but yeah, to be a part of that, um,
- 3:07Speaker 3: and the way it all came to be, it was
- 3:09Speaker 3: something that really grew our friendship. And, um, I've always
- 3:13Speaker 3: been a huge fan of Lauren Lane. I mean, she
- 3:14Speaker 3: is the powerhouse of country music.
- 3:16Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 3:16Speaker 3: I feel like her vocals are just undeniably different. So
- 3:21Speaker 3: to have the opportunity to be on a song with
- 3:22Speaker 3: her is awesome. And seeing it run its course is
- 3:25Speaker 3: really cool to have, you know, half a hit under
- 3:28Speaker 3: my belt.
- 3:28Speaker 1: It's pretty cool.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Listen, you take half of that thing. It's like splitting
- 3:32Speaker 2: the house. You know what I mean? Oh, man. No, no, no, no.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Don't say that.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Knock on wood. What have you learned from that process? Because, again, being,
- 3:41Speaker 2: you know, still fresh in your career and still learning,
- 3:44Speaker 2: you know, who you want to be as an artist
- 3:45Speaker 2: and all that. Obviously you're learning things from different experiences.
- 3:49Speaker 2: What did this experience teach you?
- 3:50Speaker 3: Well, I think learning from Lauren too is cool because
- 3:54Speaker 3: she's like a big sister to me. So, um, being
- 3:57Speaker 3: able to, you know, have her coach me on like, Hey,
- 4:01Speaker 3: you know, this is what we, we should sing a
- 4:02Speaker 3: part like this when we do it live, or we
- 4:04Speaker 3: should go like this and we do, you know, and like,
- 4:07Speaker 3: I mean, number one also, uh, well not number one,
- 4:09Speaker 3: but just scrolling real quick. She's going to fly me
- 4:13Speaker 3: on a private jet next week, so I'm pretty excited
- 4:15Speaker 3: to be friends with her because if I wasn't friends
- 4:17Speaker 3: with her, she probably wouldn't let me fly on her
- 4:18Speaker 3: private jet with her.
- 4:19Speaker 1: So that's going to be cool.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Oh, Lauren's living the PJ life.
- 4:23Speaker 3: So I'm learning the PJ life if I'm learning anything
- 4:26Speaker 3: out of this.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Listen, that can be an expensive life to live, my friend.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Dude, no way. I'm going to be a commercial guy,
- 4:32Speaker 1: I think. I've done it a few times.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Can I tell you? Southwest is your PJ, my friend.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Hey, you know, I like Delta, though. I like Delta, too.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Anything but United. Anything but United.
- 4:44Speaker 2: You're getting boozy now because I love me some Delta
- 4:46Speaker 2: as well.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely. They got the better snacks for sure.
- 4:49Speaker 2: So let me tell you a story about a Delta flight.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Okay.
- 4:54Speaker 2: So not a big deal at all, but I try
- 4:58Speaker 2: and splurge a little bit, ride first class every now
- 5:01Speaker 2: and again, right? And we were on our way to
- 5:04Speaker 2: Key West.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 5:05Speaker 2: To see the Songwriters Festival.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Love that.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Yeah, you were down there. And so I said to Tay,
- 5:10Speaker 2: I'm like, we got to go first class. And she's like, oh,
- 5:13Speaker 2: my God, I never. It was like Pretty Woman.
- 5:17Speaker 1: She's like, I never.
- 5:18Speaker 2: I'm like, let me take you out the hood for
- 5:20Speaker 2: a minute.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Hey, shout out.
- 5:25Speaker 2: We have a fancy new setup now, so Tay can
- 5:27Speaker 2: be a part of this.
- 5:28Speaker 4: I know what story you're going to say.
- 5:30Speaker 2: So we're... So I was like, OK, well, here's you know,
- 5:33Speaker 2: they got this one up front. So she goes and
- 5:35Speaker 2: she pays for that. And then mine was like, you know,
- 5:38Speaker 2: like row six. It was like the last first class row.
- 5:41Speaker 2: And so I was like, hey, like you order whatever
- 5:43Speaker 2: you want, alcohol, whatever. It's like, oh, my gosh, I'm
- 5:46Speaker 2: getting a mimosa. I'm getting ready for this trip.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Basic white girl in first class.
- 5:51Speaker 2: So so she orders her mimosa.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:53Speaker 2: And she doesn't she doesn't have her table out yet.
- 5:56Speaker 2: And you know how the table is in like the armrest.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. If you're in the very front row, it is.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:01Speaker 2: So she's holding the alcohol and the orange juice and everything.
- 6:05Speaker 2: And she goes like this to pull her table out.
- 6:08Speaker 2: And she pours her alcohol. all over the woman next
- 6:12Speaker 2: to her.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Oh, nice.
- 6:13Speaker 2: It was the most I don't belong here moment I've
- 6:16Speaker 2: ever seen.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Back to the hood. Exactly, yeah.
- 6:20Speaker 4: I was trying to pull out the table, and it
- 6:22Speaker 4: bumped her, and my drink went flying everywhere.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Oh, man.
- 6:27Speaker 2: I made her take front to your back. I was like, no,
- 6:30Speaker 2: you can't.
- 6:30Speaker 1: I was like, put me in the back of the plane.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Did they bring you another one?
- 6:33Speaker 2: Yeah, they did, and a bunch of napkins.
- 6:35Speaker 1: That's good, yeah. What about the lady? What was her
- 6:38Speaker 1: experience like?
- 6:39Speaker 4: Oh, she was mad the whole entire flight. But I
- 6:41Speaker 4: tried cleaning it up as best as I can. She was, yeah,
- 6:44Speaker 4: she was pretty pissed.
- 6:45Speaker 2: The funny thing now is, like, I'm the worst person
- 6:48Speaker 2: to work with because any little.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Mistake or oh my i bring.
- 6:54Speaker 4: It up as often as i can like business casual
- 6:57Speaker 4: like she looked like she was going somewhere important so
- 6:59Speaker 4: i probably ruined her outfit for the.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Day well it's fine like you said man you can
- 7:05Speaker 3: only do some things once in.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Life you know yeah yeah back to the exit row
- 7:10Speaker 2: for you back to southwest right um so fast forward
- 7:15Speaker 2: uh you're working with aldine that's a friendship that has
- 7:18Speaker 2: that has kind of grown for you now with Jason.
- 7:21Speaker 1: What has that meant to you?
- 7:22Speaker 2: Because obviously you could just be on tour and, you know,
- 7:25Speaker 2: the tour ends, he high fives you, you go your
- 7:26Speaker 2: separate ways. It feels like he's really embraced you, you know,
- 7:30Speaker 2: as a comrade in the country music world.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Man, Aldean is one of them guys that when you
- 7:38Speaker 3: meet him, you know, he's just somebody that, To me,
- 7:45Speaker 3: I was really intimidated at first, right? Because I grew
- 7:48Speaker 3: up listening to Aldane, which I told him that. And
- 7:50Speaker 3: he's like, don't say that. It makes me feel old.
- 7:53Speaker 1: You're like, bruh. Yeah, yeah. But truthfully, truthfully.
- 7:57Speaker 3: But no, in all seriousness, man, we went on tour
- 8:02Speaker 3: with him in 2024. And he's one of them guys,
- 8:05Speaker 3: like I've met just about everybody. at this point in
- 8:08Speaker 3: the industry. And he's the one that I've met that
- 8:11Speaker 3: I'm like, man, you are like super cool, like super
- 8:14Speaker 3: down to earth, like super just like, I mean, I'm
- 8:18Speaker 3: not trying.
- 8:18Speaker 1: To kiss butt here, dude. I'm serious.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Like he's just such a people person and such a
- 8:21Speaker 3: kind dude. He can cut up and laugh about anything.
- 8:24Speaker 3: It doesn't feel like you're talking to a celebrity, you
- 8:26Speaker 3: know what I mean? And, um, I think that that's
- 8:28Speaker 3: something that I've learned from him. I strive to be
- 8:31Speaker 3: more like that, you know, just say, man, like just
- 8:33Speaker 3: take everything with a grain of salt and just keep
- 8:35Speaker 3: rocking dude. And, um, Yeah, he's kind of become a
- 8:38Speaker 3: really cool mentor in my life and definitely a good friend.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I just built.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Him a 1968 Pontiac LeMans. I gave it to him
- 8:47Speaker 3: for end of tour gift. Oh, wow. And I guess
- 8:49Speaker 3: he caught wind that I was doing something nice for
- 8:51Speaker 3: him for end of tour. And so he bought me
- 8:52Speaker 3: a big green tractor. And so the big green tractor, man,
- 8:56Speaker 3: bought me a big green tractor, man.
- 8:58Speaker 1: It's pretty crazy.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Hey, you know what's wild about that is we love
- 9:00Speaker 2: to ask like songs about stories and how our stories
- 9:03Speaker 2: about songs and how they happen. Jake Owen was offered
- 9:06Speaker 2: that song first. He almost cut that.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Really? Yeah. I didn't know that.
- 9:09Speaker 2: And it ended up now it's, you know, a staple
- 9:11Speaker 2: song for Jason.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Um, we talked to Kenny Chesney and he passed on check.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Yes or no. And that's a massive George straight.
- 9:19Speaker 3: Really?
- 9:19Speaker 2: And who do we just talk to? We just talked
- 9:22Speaker 2: to somebody. Oh, Dustin Lynch passed on red solo cup.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Wow. Isn't that wild? What a smash song. Yeah.
- 9:29Speaker 2: So it's, I love, like, I love so big green
- 9:32Speaker 2: tractor made me think of those stories. And I have ADD,
- 9:35Speaker 2: so there that goes. Coming off a tour, regardless of
- 9:41Speaker 2: how many dates it is or whatever, what's the first
- 9:42Speaker 2: thing you do to get back to, like, I need
- 9:45Speaker 2: to be me mode?
- 9:46Speaker 3: I go drive my street car, my race car. I
- 9:49Speaker 3: go take it down the road and tune it a
- 9:51Speaker 3: little bit, plug my laptop in. I got a Turbo
- 9:53Speaker 3: LS cheap cherokee that's freaking fun to drive but yeah
- 9:58Speaker 3: just i don't know i go do something maybe out
- 10:00Speaker 3: on my farm go rip some four-wheelers go fishing something you.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Know when you do when you do dumb stuff like
- 10:06Speaker 2: that uh is the label ever like are your management
- 10:10Speaker 2: ever like hey Yeah. If you roll this thing and
- 10:13Speaker 2: we can't go on tour. Yeah.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:15Speaker 1: No, I definitely, I definitely hear it a lot.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:18Speaker 2: I definitely, I definitely get him looking at the wall.
- 10:22Speaker 2: He's like, he's like, that's the ultimate dad.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Yeah. When they see me ripping willies and doing, you know,
- 10:27Speaker 3: just having the best time ever. Um, yeah, I definitely
- 10:30Speaker 3: hear about it. They're like, Hey man, don't get hurt.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Especially snap, you know, snap my manager. He's like, don't
- 10:35Speaker 3: get hurt, man.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Don't get hurt. You get hurt. We can't work. We're
- 10:38Speaker 1: in trouble, you know?
- 10:39Speaker 3: So I do my best to, You know, keep ibuprofens
- 10:42Speaker 3: around and ibuprofen is what I call it.
- 10:47Speaker 1: How do you actually say it?
- 10:49Speaker 3: Ibuprofen or something?
- 10:53Speaker 2: I say ibuprofen.
- 10:54Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Ibuprofen. I always say, somebody made fun of me the
- 10:57Speaker 3: other day because I said ibuprofen. Like I had to
- 11:00Speaker 3: slow it down because I have a lisp sometimes. Ibuprofen.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Yeah, but ibuprofen. Keep the ibuprofen around. Ibuprofen.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Yeah, definitely.
- 11:07Speaker 2: There you go.
- 11:07Speaker 1: You say it fast.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Nobody will know.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Listen, the ibuprofen means I'll be healing. You know what
- 11:12Speaker 2: I mean?
- 11:13Speaker 1: Ibuprofen. That should be on a t-shirt. I'll be healing.
- 11:17Speaker 2: The single that's on country radio now is called Holding
- 11:19Speaker 2: It Down.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Why does that make sense for where you're at? Like,
- 11:23Speaker 2: why was that the one that raised its hand for you?
- 11:26Speaker 3: Well, I think it makes sense because of physically where
- 11:28Speaker 3: we're at, too. So, you know, I mean, y'all know
- 11:31Speaker 3: I'm a Nashville native, and somebody watching this may not
- 11:33Speaker 3: know that, but I'm a Nashville native. I'm from this
- 11:36Speaker 3: area and grew up all north of town, all over,
- 11:38Speaker 3: between Clarksville and Hartsville is what I always say, all
- 11:41Speaker 3: in between, went to a bunch of different schools. But
- 11:44Speaker 3: the one thing that I always recognized growing up is,
- 11:47Speaker 3: you know, there's something unique about living in Nashville and
- 11:52Speaker 3: outside of Nashville. Everyone's musically talented. Everyone has a dream.
- 11:55Speaker 3: But there's also, you know, a lot of cool people,
- 11:57Speaker 3: a lot of people that don't get recognition enough that
- 11:59Speaker 3: are holding it down, that are not holding it down
- 12:02Speaker 3: for just the music industry, but holding it down for
- 12:04Speaker 3: the structure of our communities. You know, that's our firefighters,
- 12:07Speaker 3: even our volunteer firefighters, you know, even the The small
- 12:11Speaker 3: town city police, the county police, the sheriffs, everybody that's,
- 12:15Speaker 3: you know, it could even be the guy at the
- 12:18Speaker 3: Waffle House at 3 a.m. sobering you up, you know,
- 12:20Speaker 3: like that guy. He's a hero in his own right,
- 12:23Speaker 3: you know. But, you know, this song, holding it down,
- 12:27Speaker 3: is just kind of shedding light on that topic.
- 12:30Speaker 1: And, man, we're all a hero in our own way.
- 12:33Speaker 1: And that one's just for the small town heroes, man,
- 12:36Speaker 1: for sure. Yeah.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Uh, the world we live in now is like, what's next, right?
- 12:41Speaker 2: Like cool, cool. That's out now, but what's next? When
- 12:43Speaker 2: can I get more? Is that tough as a, as
- 12:46Speaker 2: somebody who's creating music to like continue to feed that beast,
- 12:49Speaker 2: but also work a radio single at the same time?
- 12:52Speaker 1: That beast is a hungry beast. Yeah. You're always feeding
- 12:54Speaker 1: it something. I'm always working on songs.
- 12:56Speaker 3: I mean, actually, as soon as I leave here, I'm
- 12:58Speaker 3: going to the studio to, to work on some, some music.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Me and the guys yesterday, uh, actually recorded two new songs.
- 13:05Speaker 3: We're doing two more today and, So I've always got
- 13:07Speaker 3: music on hand.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Dude, I probably have. I'm not even kidding you, bro.
- 13:10Speaker 3: I've probably got like 1,000 songs sitting in my phone.
- 13:15Speaker 3: No joke, 1,000 songs sitting in my phone right now.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Hey, I'm going to corner you, though.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:20Speaker 2: How many are good? Because now that we've listened, I'm sure.
- 13:23Speaker 3: You're— I mean, at least 300 of them could be
- 13:28Speaker 3: released at any time. Oh, wow. Yeah.
- 13:30Speaker 2: That's pretty good.
- 13:31Speaker 3: So, I mean, yeah, I mean, I'm not saying that
- 13:33Speaker 3: it's like, it's like they're just massive hits or anything,
- 13:36Speaker 3: but like they're songs that either mean something to me
- 13:38Speaker 3: or that I feel like I'm strong about, you know
- 13:40Speaker 3: what I mean? So there's a lot of, a lot
- 13:42Speaker 3: of songs that mean something to me though, in that file.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Cause I just, music's therapy for me. So like, I'm
- 13:47Speaker 3: just always working on something. So, but yeah, man, I
- 13:50Speaker 3: got a lot of music. So feeding the beast is,
- 13:53Speaker 3: is a full-time job, especially Outside of working a radio single,
- 13:57Speaker 3: you know, that's a lot of fun, too, because I
- 13:59Speaker 3: get to go to places like we're at right now,
- 14:00Speaker 3: and I get to shake hands with people like y'all,
- 14:02Speaker 3: and I really enjoy that.
- 14:03Speaker 1: And sometimes that is what inspires me to go write
- 14:06Speaker 1: new music. So it's not always work. Sometimes it's fun.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Is the music you're recording now, is that for a project?
- 14:15Speaker 1: Is the gold?
- 14:16Speaker 2: An album?
- 14:16Speaker 1: That's a great question. I knew you were going to
- 14:18Speaker 1: say that. I don't know, man.
- 14:19Speaker 3: I'm just kind of like right now, I just want
- 14:21Speaker 3: to keep dropping singles. And I figure the fastest way
- 14:23Speaker 3: for me to get music out to my fans is
- 14:25Speaker 3: to just drop them one at a time. Cause I
- 14:27Speaker 3: don't have to prep a big project, but I'm working
- 14:30Speaker 3: towards doing a project. It's just, uh, one at a time.
- 14:33Speaker 3: I'm taking my time with the project cause I want
- 14:35Speaker 3: it to matter. I want this one to count.
- 14:37Speaker 1: So I got you.
- 14:38Speaker 2: What are you most proud of as you look at
- 14:40Speaker 2: what you've already done? And that could be a song
- 14:44Speaker 2: that could be a tour. That could be a fan interaction.
- 14:46Speaker 2: What's something like what, when I say, what are you
- 14:48Speaker 2: most proud of? What's like the first thing that pops up?
- 14:52Speaker 2: Like in my, anything, myself, anything, yourself, your career, your music,
- 14:56Speaker 2: your whatever.
- 14:57Speaker 3: I would say like, it's in my personal life. Um,
- 14:59Speaker 3: it's my farm. I've always dreamed of, uh, okay. So
- 15:04Speaker 3: I guess it goes back to, um, when I was,
- 15:07Speaker 3: when I was young, my mom, um, She had a
- 15:09Speaker 3: good job. She actually worked for the Tennessean for years.
- 15:12Speaker 3: And she got laid off probably, golly, it was a
- 15:14Speaker 3: long time ago. But she had built her dream home.
- 15:18Speaker 3: And it foreclosed because, you know, she had lost her job.
- 15:22Speaker 3: And I went back and forth between step-parents and just
- 15:26Speaker 3: moving schools and moving around. And so something I always
- 15:29Speaker 3: wanted– I'm not joking.
- 15:31Speaker 1: I'm actually, like, have, like, coffee. Okay.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Anyways.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Got you.
- 15:35Speaker 3: But I think in my life I always– I always
- 15:38Speaker 3: wanted that one place that never changed that consistency. And
- 15:42Speaker 3: so something that I made a goal for myself when
- 15:46Speaker 3: I started seeing, you know, the light at the end
- 15:48Speaker 3: of the tunnel with this career was I wanted to
- 15:51Speaker 3: get a piece of property that stays in my family forever,
- 15:53Speaker 3: that I can raise my family on, that I can have,
- 15:56Speaker 3: you know, um, that consistency in my family and, and
- 16:00Speaker 3: for my mom and for my dad and my, my
- 16:02Speaker 3: grandparents and just whoever wants to come out there. And so, uh,
- 16:06Speaker 3: I just closed on, um, my dream property top of
- 16:09Speaker 3: this year and back in March. And I love it, man.
- 16:13Speaker 3: It's my pride and joy, man. It's, it's, it's the
- 16:16Speaker 3: most proud thing of myself. I feel like it's everything
- 16:18Speaker 3: I ever worked for was to get that land, 150
- 16:22Speaker 3: acres for endless opportunity to just create an oasis away
- 16:26Speaker 3: from the, away from the lights, away from the road,
- 16:29Speaker 3: away from the radio, right from everything and just be me,
- 16:33Speaker 3: you know?
- 16:33Speaker 1: So yeah, we got a lot of fields to ride
- 16:35Speaker 1: willies for sure. Let's go.
- 16:37Speaker 2: That's awesome, man. Uh, speaking of riding wheelies and I,
- 16:41Speaker 2: you had brought up, so at one point you were
- 16:43Speaker 2: an ATV mechanic. Yeah.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Right.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Yeah. Still am just not, I don't get paid for
- 16:47Speaker 1: it anymore. Dude.
- 16:49Speaker 2: So, so you have a new property. Do you need
- 16:52Speaker 2: a new four wheeler?
- 16:53Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, I always need four wheels. So I
- 16:55Speaker 3: have a few, quite a few, like quite a few.
- 16:57Speaker 3: I have enough for my buddies to come over and
- 16:59Speaker 3: rip around, but I'm always looking for more.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Because I have a lot of buddies.
- 17:02Speaker 2: This is, this is probably one for snap. Like snap
- 17:04Speaker 2: could ride this one.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Okay.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Brute force 300. Yeah, yeah.
- 17:09Speaker 1: 2023. Yeah. What about it?
- 17:11Speaker 2: Two Gs, it's yours.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Oh, you have one.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Yeah, you want to buy one? Here, let me show you.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Yeah, you got a picture of it? Wait, are we
- 17:20Speaker 1: behind a four-wheeler right now? So that's what it looks like. Yeah,
- 17:26Speaker 1: I like that. Two Gs.
- 17:28Speaker 2: We're selling four-wheeler 2023.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Does it need anything?
- 17:33Speaker 2: Battery, that's it.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Runs great. It needs a battery. Yeah. Unless you want to.
- 17:38Speaker 1: We're really making a deal right here.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Live.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Are y'all catching this? This is 2G. I actually have
- 17:43Speaker 1: cash on me. Are you sure? That's yeah. Yeah.
- 17:46Speaker 4: Don't sell him a lemon.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Listen, I'll tell you, this is the deal. I might
- 17:51Speaker 1: have enough. Let me see. I always keep some money
- 17:53Speaker 1: for a marketplace deal in my pocket.
- 17:57Speaker 2: I'm so confident that it works, that if it doesn't,
- 18:01Speaker 2: it's on Tay's job. That's how confident I am. Two Gs,
- 18:06Speaker 2: it's yours. You can swing through Spring Hill and pick
- 18:07Speaker 2: it up later.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Dude, look. I have $ 2, 100, bro. Are we making a
- 18:13Speaker 1: deal right now?
- 18:13Speaker 2: I mean, it was $ 2, 100.
- 18:14Speaker 1: So if it needs more than a battery, though.
- 18:16Speaker 2: We'll make a deal.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Okay, all right. Are we buying this? Are you serious?
- 18:22Speaker 1: This isn't just for the show.
- 18:23Speaker 2: No, for real. Handshake deal.
- 18:26Speaker 1: You got it, brother. You got it right here on iHeartRadio.
- 18:29Speaker 1: We're going to talk.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Does anybody have one of them markers I can make
- 18:33Speaker 2: sure this is?
- 18:36Speaker 1: Oh, come on now. Come on now. Speaking of Snap,
- 18:41Speaker 1: he's right there. Come here.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Come here, man. Snap don't need a four-wheeler. Snap needs
- 18:48Speaker 2: a clock.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Yeah, he is late.
- 18:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:51Speaker 1: He's very late. Dude, you just ate.
- 18:56Speaker 2: This is wild that we just saw the four-wheeler during
- 18:58Speaker 2: the interview.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I think this is definitely different. This is pretty cool.
- 19:03Speaker 1: I didn't even try to bargain. I just did. Hey, man,
- 19:05Speaker 1: we're live right now. I just bought you a four-wheeler.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Dude, he just bought my four-wheeler.
- 19:13Speaker 1: No, I had it. I had just enough. I got
- 19:15Speaker 1: $ 100 for the homeless guy watching my truck, too.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Has he really got a homeless guy watching your truck?
- 19:22Speaker 2: I told him, hold it.
- 19:23Speaker 1: He said, get me a beer. I said, I'll bring
- 19:24Speaker 1: you two. But the bar ain't open yet, so I
- 19:27Speaker 1: don't know what we're going to do.
- 19:29Speaker 2: We'll make it happen. As we wrap up, and I
- 19:34Speaker 2: count this money, not that I don't trust you.
- 19:38Speaker 1: What do you need?
- 19:39Speaker 2: 2026 was a great year for Chase Matthews. Yeah. The
- 19:44Speaker 2: two were Working with Lauren, continuing to learn and get
- 19:47Speaker 2: your name out there. What do you need? for 2027
- 19:50Speaker 2: as next year closes to continue the success that this
- 19:56Speaker 2: year brought you? What are some things you hope to see?
- 19:58Speaker 1: Man, I would love to get another number one under
- 20:00Speaker 1: my belt. I think that would be a beautiful thing.
- 20:02Speaker 1: I definitely... need to pay some taxes.
- 20:08Speaker 2: And that comes with success though, right?
- 20:10Speaker 1: It does.
- 20:10Speaker 3: It does. All seriousness, man, I just, I want to
- 20:13Speaker 3: keep going out and shaking hands, meeting the fans and,
- 20:17Speaker 3: you know, keep giving back to them the way they've
- 20:19Speaker 3: given to me. And I know that sounds like some,
- 20:21Speaker 3: something that media training or cliche would teach you, you know,
- 20:25Speaker 3: but I'm so serious, man. I'm just, I'm just such
- 20:27Speaker 3: a people person that I want to go out there
- 20:30Speaker 3: and just be the best version of myself and hear
- 20:32Speaker 3: the stories on how my music's impacted people.
- 20:35Speaker 1: And if that's all I get next year, that's more
- 20:38Speaker 1: than fulfilling to me.
- 20:39Speaker 3: So I'm grateful for my fans, grateful for country radio,
- 20:42Speaker 3: and those two things mean the most to me.
- 20:46Speaker 2: And please buy concert tickets because he's got a farm
- 20:48Speaker 2: to pay for.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Yeah, and a four-wheeler, too. And a four-wheeler's paid for.
- 20:53Speaker 1: It's paid, but as long as I use that. I've
- 20:55Speaker 1: got to buy a battery.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Okay.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Dude, Chase, thanks for coming to hang.
- 20:59Speaker 4: Yes, sir.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Thanks for having me. Oh, wait, hold on. Wait, wait, wait. Tay,
- 21:02Speaker 1: you got your plaque, right?
- 21:03Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Thank you. Yeah, we got Tay a plaque. I know.
- 21:06Speaker 1: That's her number one. It's got her name on it.
- 21:08Speaker 1: It's what? It's got her name on it.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Listen, can I tell you? How cute. Are you going
- 21:11Speaker 2: to hang that up?
- 21:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Because usually if she gets plaques, you don't hang them up.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Well, yeah.
- 21:15Speaker 4: But I will hang this one up.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Yeah. She works so hard on it. Hey, she's going
- 21:20Speaker 1: to scoot over to pick her son. I'm waiting on
- 21:21Speaker 1: him to be like, where's mine? He's not going for it.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Can I tell you?
- 21:24Speaker 2: She can have her moment.
- 21:25Speaker 1: I'm okay with that. I already put it up there
- 21:27Speaker 1: for you. Oh, there it is.
- 21:30Speaker 2: It was a damn Easter egg on. All of a
- 21:32Speaker 2: sudden one day I was going to be like, oh, damn. Dude,
- 21:35Speaker 2: thank you for that. Thank you. We appreciate you sharing
- 21:38Speaker 2: your success with the rest of us. That's pretty cool.
- 21:40Speaker 3: Yeah, man. I'm just grateful for you guys. Thank you
- 21:42Speaker 3: guys for everything you've done. Hey, brother, I appreciate the four-wheeler, dude.
- 21:47Speaker 2: There it is. That's really what it comes down to.
