- 0:00Speaker 1: Sell out crowd of ten New ninety nine here at Gamble.
- 0:03Speaker 1: They'll see the Huskies beat USF once again. Chris Daley
- 0:07Speaker 1: has joined us for the daily recap, and I'll say
- 0:09Speaker 1: it bluntly, it's hard to lose when you shoot sixty
- 0:11Speaker 1: seven percent. That was fun to watch today.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Well, I was in charge of our shooting today. No,
- 0:16Speaker 2: I was only in charge of the second and third quarters.
- 0:19Speaker 2: I don't know who was in charge of the first
- 0:21Speaker 2: and the fourth, but now it was. We just made
- 0:27Speaker 2: it look easy, you know. I thought we took advantage
- 0:29Speaker 2: of We ran our offense number one, which was nice
- 0:32Speaker 2: to see. We got out in transition, which is helpful,
- 0:35Speaker 2: and then we made shots. You know, sometimes you run
- 0:39Speaker 2: your offense and you get good looks and you just
- 0:41Speaker 2: don't finish, but you're executing well. And today we were.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Able to do both, and probably starting with good defense
- 0:48Speaker 3: as well. Not that you were able to get a
- 0:49Speaker 3: lot of steels early in the column, but it was
- 0:51Speaker 3: that they were holding southward to not the best percentage
- 0:55Speaker 3: and having difficult shows. They didn't get a lot of
- 0:57Speaker 3: open looks early.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought our fence was good. They're a tough team.
- 1:02Speaker 2: I know people think I'm making that up looking at
- 1:05Speaker 2: the score. But you know, they run a lot of stuff,
- 1:07Speaker 2: They shoot a lot of threes, They can you know,
- 1:09Speaker 2: sometimes shoot themselves in or out. And at halftime we
- 1:12Speaker 2: both had the same amount of made and taken, which
- 1:14Speaker 2: was as unusual. But you know, I thought they once
- 1:17Speaker 2: Page got the two fouls, they were going at her
- 1:20Speaker 2: a lot and trying to make her, you know, get
- 1:22Speaker 2: her third, and then they took away the second, and
- 1:25Speaker 2: then she promptly got her second again. Yeah, so she
- 1:29Speaker 2: would have had her third had they not taken away
- 1:31Speaker 2: the second. So but they were, you know, they were
- 1:34Speaker 2: being very specific in terms of personnel and how they
- 1:36Speaker 2: were guarding and who they were going after and trying
- 1:38Speaker 2: to take take advantage of matchups. And I thought we
- 1:40Speaker 2: did a pretty good job helping and making them have
- 1:44Speaker 2: to make some tough shots.
- 1:46Speaker 1: For Ashland Shade, she only took two shots in the
- 1:49Speaker 1: first half. That three seemed to get her going to
- 1:51Speaker 1: end the half because she was basically off to the
- 1:54Speaker 1: races after that, I mean, very efficient seven of ten
- 1:57Speaker 1: and she's getting more steels.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Yeah, thought maybe she had more than just two steals.
- 2:02Speaker 2: It seemed like she had more than that because they
- 2:04Speaker 2: list her it just too I don't know, you know,
- 2:06Speaker 2: when I watched the film, maybe i'll notice more. But
- 2:09Speaker 2: she was just very active, you know, and I think
- 2:11Speaker 2: Ash has she's got to pull up. When she gets
- 2:13Speaker 2: to a certain spot on the floor, it's like it's over,
- 2:17Speaker 2: you know that that's she could probably dribble ten times
- 2:20Speaker 2: to get to the spot sometimes. But we're just playing,
- 2:23Speaker 2: you know. I think they're just playing well. And we're
- 2:26Speaker 2: not even close obviously to where we're going to be
- 2:28Speaker 2: for the second game. We were pleased and we're just
- 2:31Speaker 2: you know, we have off tomorrow and then we'll have
- 2:34Speaker 2: a couple of days to get ready and go down
- 2:35Speaker 2: to North Carolina.
- 2:37Speaker 3: And you talk about everybody, it's okay, Pagebeckers one way.
- 2:41Speaker 3: At one time they tried to do a double team
- 2:43Speaker 3: up top. They're trying to do some things there, teammates
- 2:46Speaker 3: finding each other and playing pretty well. You could see
- 2:49Speaker 3: the high low or even you know, entries into the
- 2:52Speaker 3: posts that they're really whoever you have on the floor
- 2:55Speaker 3: seemed to really working well together.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, it's when you have someone like Page
- 2:59Speaker 2: on your tea tea. It gets easy to watch her
- 3:03Speaker 2: play and at times we need her to go one
- 3:07Speaker 2: on one to help us out, and we do this
- 3:09Speaker 2: that practice a lot, where like to bail us out,
- 3:11Speaker 2: she'll go one on one. And then I think she's
- 3:13Speaker 2: learning and doing really a much better job of running
- 3:17Speaker 2: the offense where she's not. She's setting the backscreen and
- 3:21Speaker 2: she's helping other guys get open and helping our other
- 3:25Speaker 2: players develop confidence and understand the offense and get shots
- 3:29Speaker 2: so that they're not watching her, they're playing with her.
- 3:32Speaker 2: And I mean, I enjoy watching her, but if you're
- 3:34Speaker 2: gonna watch her, she'd sit on the bench. If we're
- 3:36Speaker 2: playing and you're on the court with her, you need
- 3:39Speaker 2: to help her. You need to run the offense, whether
- 3:42Speaker 2: you know it's a hard cut which gets her or
- 3:44Speaker 2: someone else open, it's a matter of everybody working and
- 3:47Speaker 2: I think she's doing a really good job with that.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Chris, I thought it was important for Ice to get
- 3:51Speaker 1: off to a good start. Caitlin and Page both gave
- 3:54Speaker 1: her an Ice passes. It just seems like when she
- 3:55Speaker 1: gets off to a good start, you see that confidence
- 3:58Speaker 1: just kind of open up up a bit. But it
- 4:00Speaker 1: was nice to see her be productive today.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I has had you know, some really
- 4:05Speaker 2: good days of practice. You know, it's one thing I
- 4:08Speaker 2: think she's trying to grow out of having a negative
- 4:12Speaker 2: reaction to a bad play or a missshot or not
- 4:15Speaker 2: doing something well in that moment. You just have to
- 4:17Speaker 2: keep moving on because you know the game if you
- 4:20Speaker 2: want perfect, you know, if you want to be our
- 4:22Speaker 2: goal is to be perfect. But the game isn't perfect,
- 4:25Speaker 2: So you have to be able to respond when you're not.
- 4:27Speaker 2: You miss a shot or you miss an assignment, to
- 4:29Speaker 2: make sure that you just get the next one. And
- 4:32Speaker 2: I think she's growing up with that. That's maturity and
- 4:35Speaker 2: that comes with experience as well.
- 4:36Speaker 1: All Right, Greensboro and Friday, you got North Carolina.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Correct and finally on riskout.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Have you started to do any work on them yet? Oh?
- 4:43Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's They're an interesting team. Some they lost
- 4:48Speaker 2: Dajah Kelly, who was there took a lot of shots
- 4:51Speaker 2: for them. So the player that transferred from Iowa State, Donarski,
- 4:57Speaker 2: has gotten a lot of shots. She's averaging nineteen points
- 4:59Speaker 2: right now, was averaging ten last year. They have a
- 5:02Speaker 2: point guard that you know, played at Richmond last year.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Not as not a great offensive minded point guard, but
- 5:08Speaker 2: really tough and runs their stuff and really good defensively.
- 5:11Speaker 2: And then they have a freshman coming off the bench
- 5:13Speaker 2: that's good and let's be I don't know if you
- 5:15Speaker 2: remember her. She is a four to three type player
- 5:20Speaker 2: from Minnesota. She's she's a really good player. I mean
- 5:22Speaker 2: she does a lot of she's kind of the glue
- 5:24Speaker 2: for them, I think. And she's in her fifth year.
- 5:27Speaker 2: So they've got some experience coming back and some new
- 5:29Speaker 2: players and it'll be an interesting challenge.
- 5:33Speaker 1: First road, Yeah, first game in Greensboro since two thousand
- 5:36Speaker 1: and eight? Is that the regional one? Yeah? You beat Rutgers. Yeah,
- 5:41Speaker 1: Maya's freshman year.
- 5:43Speaker 2: I remember that one.
- 5:44Speaker 1: That was a grind. That was a grind. Those were
- 5:46Speaker 1: the glory, the grinding glory days of Yukon and Rutgers.
- 5:48Speaker 1: You know what to expect visit.
- 5:51Speaker 2: That was the regional too.
- 5:52Speaker 1: I was the elite eight yep. Yeah, I had a
- 5:54Speaker 1: big three to give you a little separation, and then
- 5:57Speaker 1: you made your free throws late.
- 5:59Speaker 2: I just remember coach so like normally when he's getting empires,
- 6:03Speaker 2: I sit back and you know, I let him get it.
- 6:07Speaker 2: And this one he was getting on Tina Charles, and
- 6:09Speaker 2: I just remember I kept inching up and inching up
- 6:11Speaker 2: and inching up. I was almost off the chair so
- 6:13Speaker 2: that he couldn't see her, so he wouldn't talk to her,
- 6:15Speaker 2: and he would go talk to somebody else.
- 6:18Speaker 3: But yeah, that's what I remember that game, Coach Daily
- 6:22Speaker 3: and how she literally.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Like sometimes I just you know, I lean back. You'll
- 6:26Speaker 2: go for it because they didn't know they deserve it.
- 6:28Speaker 2: And then sometimes I'm like, okay, all.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Right, Chris Daly the moderator, there you go. All right,
- 6:33Speaker 1: we'll see your Friday. All right, Thanks Chris. Chris Daly
