- 0:02Welcome to Voices of Life, a ministry of the
- 0:05Church for Life, and I'm your host, Pastor David.
- 0:09Today we begin week 11 of our 12 -week journey,
- 0:12Living with a Purpose, A God -Centered Life.
- 0:16And this week we're stepping into the theme that
- 0:19every believer must face. A theme that reaches
- 0:22beyond today, beyond this season, and beyond
- 0:27our lifetime. This week we're talking about...
- 0:32Legacy. Not the legacy the world talks about,
- 0:35money, fame, achievements, reputation. But the
- 0:40legacy that heaven sees. The legacy that eternity
- 0:45remembers. The legacy that God builds through
- 0:50your life. Your legacy is not what you leave
- 0:54behind. Your legacy is what you send ahead. A
- 1:02God -centered legacy is not measured in possessions.
- 1:06It's measured in people. It's measured in the
- 1:11lives you touched, the faith you live, the love
- 1:17you gave, the truth you carried, and the example
- 1:23that you set. A God -centered legacy is not about
- 1:28being remembered. It's about making Christ known.
- 1:33It's not about your name. It's about his name.
- 1:39And it's not about your story. It's about his
- 1:43story flowing through your life. You may not
- 1:51feel influential. You may not feel important.
- 1:54You may not feel like your life has made a difference.
- 1:58But hear me. Everyone leaves a legacy. Every
- 2:04word you speak, every act of kindness, every
- 2:09moment of faithfulness, every prayer you pray,
- 2:14and every sacrifice you make, all of it is shaping
- 2:20somebody. All of it. is planting seed all of
- 2:27it is building a legacy that will outlive you
- 2:31legacy is not something you think about at the
- 2:36end of your life legacy is something you build
- 2:39every day of your life you're building your legacy
- 2:44in the way you love the way you forgive you serve
- 2:48endure and worship In the way you walk with God
- 2:53when no one is watching. Legacy is not a moment.
- 2:59It is a lifestyle. A true lifestyle. Let's anchor
- 3:07ourselves in the word of God. Psalm 112 verse
- 3:146 says, The righteous will be remembered forever.
- 3:22See, this is not about fame. It's not about getting
- 3:25an applause or recognition. It's about impact.
- 3:29It's about your faithfulness. It's about a life
- 3:33that reflects God. Heaven remembers what the
- 3:38world forgets. Heaven honors what the world overlooks.
- 3:47And heaven celebrates. what the world ignores
- 3:52legacy is not built through big moments legacy
- 3:58is built through consistent moments moments of
- 4:02obedience compassion integrity prayer and surrender
- 4:08people may forget your greatest accomplishments
- 4:11but they'll never forget your consistent character
- 4:15consistency is the foundation of a lasting legacy
- 4:21your life is telling a story a story of faith
- 4:27a story of grace a story of perseverance it is
- 4:34a story of redemption a story of god's goodness
- 4:37in your journey and the people around you your
- 4:42children your friends your co -workers your church
- 4:45community They are reading that story every day.
- 4:51The question is not about, am I leaving a legacy?
- 4:56The question is, what kind of legacy am I leaving?
- 5:04Take a slow breath in and exhale gently. Now
- 5:09ask yourself, what am I building with my life?
- 5:15What am I teaching through my example? What seeds
- 5:20am I planting? What story is my life telling?
- 5:27Now ask the Holy Spirit, Lord, shape my legacy
- 5:34according to your purpose. Let that prayer rest
- 5:41in your heart. Let us pray. Father, thank you
- 5:49for calling us to live lives that matter in eternity.
- 5:55Thank you for shaping our legacy through every
- 5:59moment of faithfulness. Teach us to live with
- 6:03intention. Teach us to love with compassion.
- 6:07Teach us to serve with humility. And teach us
- 6:13to walk with integrity may our lives reflect
- 6:18your heart may our legacy point people to jesus
- 6:22may our story bring glory to your name in jesus
- 6:28name amen so let's talk now and go deeper about
- 6:42that inner life that shapes your lasting legacy
- 6:46as we go inward we're going to talk about the
- 6:55character the choices and the values that shape
- 7:01the legacy you live because legacy is not built
- 7:04by accident legacy is built by intention Legacy
- 7:10does not begin with your actions. Legacy begins
- 7:12with your heart. A heart that loves God. A heart
- 7:18that seeks truth. A heart that walks in humility.
- 7:25A heart that chooses integrity. And a heart that
- 7:30honors Christ in the quiet places where no one
- 7:33else sees. Your heart is... your birthplace of
- 7:39your legacy. If your heart is healthy, your legacy
- 7:43will be healthy. If your heart is surrendered,
- 7:46your legacy will be surrendered. And if your
- 7:49heart is aligned with God, your legacy will point
- 7:54people to him. Every legacy is shaped by character.
- 8:00And character is shaped in the battles no one
- 8:04else sees. The battles... To forgive when you
- 8:08want to hold on. The battle to stay honest when
- 8:11compromise looks easier. The battle to stay pure
- 8:15when temptation whispers. The battle to stay
- 8:19humble when pride knocks at the door. And the
- 8:23battle to stay faithful when quitting feels simpler.
- 8:28These battles are not interruptions to your legacy.
- 8:33These battles are your legacy. Because legacy
- 8:36is not what you do once. Legacy is who you become
- 8:41over time. Your legacy is shaped by the choices
- 8:46you make every day. The small choices, quiet
- 8:50choices, hidden choices. The choice to speak
- 8:54life instead of criticism. It's so easy to criticize
- 8:59someone but to say some praise. The choice to
- 9:04pray instead of worry. The choice to serve instead
- 9:08of demand. And the choice to listen instead of
- 9:14react. The choice to stay faithful instead of
- 9:21drifting. These choices may feel small, but they
- 9:26build something eternal. Your daily choices...
- 9:31are the bricks of your legacy. Let us anchor
- 9:37ourselves in the Word of God. Proverbs 20, verse
- 9:437 says, The righteous lead blameless lives. Blessed
- 9:49are the children after them. This verse is not
- 9:54about perfection. It is about direction. It's
- 9:59about consistency. It's about life that points
- 10:02the next generation toward God. Your legacy is
- 10:07not just for you. Your legacy is for those who
- 10:11come after you. Your faith becomes their foundation.
- 10:16Your obedience becomes their example. Your character
- 10:20becomes their inheritance. Every lasting legacy
- 10:27is built on values. Values that anchor you, values
- 10:30that guide you, values that define you. Values
- 10:34like faith, integrity, compassion, courage, humility,
- 10:40generosity, and perseverance. These values are
- 10:48not taught by words alone. They are taught by
- 10:51the way you live. People remember what you value.
- 10:56People follow what you value. People are shaped
- 11:01by what you value. Your values become your legacy.
- 11:09A God -centered legacy will cost you something.
- 11:14It may cost you comfort, convenience, pride.
- 11:19It will cost you selfishness. And it will cost
- 11:24you the easy path. But hear me. Everything you
- 11:28surrender for the sake of Christ becomes part
- 11:31of your legacy. Every sacrifice becomes a seed.
- 11:36Every act of obedience becomes a testimony. Every
- 11:41moment of faithfulness becomes a foundation for
- 11:44someone else's faith. Legacy is costly, but it
- 11:49is worth everything. Take a slow breath in and
- 11:57exhale gently. Now ask yourself, what values
- 12:03define my life? What values do people see in
- 12:08me? What values do I want to pass on? Now ask
- 12:16the Holy Spirit, Lord, shape my character, shape
- 12:23my choices. Shape my values and shape my legacy.
- 12:32Let that prayer settle into your spirit. Let
- 12:38us pray. Father, thank you for shaping our legacy
- 12:43from the inside out. Thank you for working in
- 12:48our character, our choices, and our values. Strengthen
- 12:53us in the battles no one sees. Guide us in the
- 12:56choices we make each and every day. Form in us
- 13:02a heart that reflects you. May our lives be marked
- 13:07by integrity. May our words be filled with grace.
- 13:11May our actions be rooted in love. And may our
- 13:16legacy point people to Jesus. In his name we
- 13:22pray. Amen. Now let's talk about the people your
- 13:33legacy touches. Your family, your friends, your
- 13:40community, your church, and even generations
- 13:43you may never meet. Because legacy is not just
- 13:48personal legacy, it is relational. You may not
- 13:53realize it, but your life is influencing people
- 13:55each and every day. Your words shape people.
- 13:58Your actions shape people. Your faith shapes
- 14:00people. When you talk to people, your attitude
- 14:05shapes people. You are leaving fingerprints on
- 14:09the hearts of others. Some you see, some you
- 14:13don't. Some you know, some you may never meet.
- 14:19Legacy is the ripple effect. faithful life your
- 14:25family is shaped by your legacy more than anything
- 14:29else not by your perfection but by your presence
- 14:34not by your achievement but by your example not
- 14:40by your success but by your surrender to God
- 14:44your children may forget your advice but they
- 14:48will never forget your character Your grandchildren
- 14:51may not know your name, but they will feel the
- 14:55impact of your prayers. Your family is one of
- 15:00the greatest places your legacy will live. Your
- 15:03legacy extends beyond your home. It touches your
- 15:09friends, your co -workers, your neighbors, your
- 15:11community. People watch how you handle pressure.
- 15:15People watch how you treat others. People watch
- 15:20you respond to hardship. And people watch how
- 15:25you walk with God. Your life is a testimony that
- 15:29speaks louder than any sermon. Let us anchor
- 15:36ourselves in the Word of God. Hebrews 13, verse
- 15:417 says, Remember your leaders who spoke the Word
- 15:47of God to you. Consider the outcome of their
- 15:52way of life and imitate their faith. This verse
- 15:59is not just about pastors. It's about anyone
- 16:03whose life points others toward Christ. Your
- 16:07legacy is not just what you say. Your legacy
- 16:13is the outcome of your way of life. And when
- 16:20people see a life shaped by God, they are inspired
- 16:24to follow him too. Your legacy strengthens the
- 16:30church. Your faithfulness encourages others.
- 16:34Your service builds the body. Your generosity
- 16:39advances the mission. Your prayers shift spiritual
- 16:45atmospheres. The church is not built on talent
- 16:51alone. The church is built on the quiet, steady,
- 16:57faithful lives of believers who show up, they
- 17:01serve well, and live deeply. Your legacy is part
- 17:06of the foundation of God's house. Your legacy
- 17:13does not end. When your life ends, your legacy
- 17:17continues through the people you've shaped, through
- 17:21the prayers you've prayed, through the seeds
- 17:24you've planted, through the example you've lived,
- 17:28through the faith you carried. Some of the greatest
- 17:32impact of your life will be seen long after you're
- 17:38gone. You are building something that will outlive
- 17:43you. You're shaping people you may never meet.
- 17:47You're influencing generations you will never
- 17:51see. This is the power of a God -centered legacy.
- 18:00Take a slow breath in and exhale gently. Now
- 18:06ask yourself, who is my life impacting right
- 18:11now? Who is watching my example? Who is shaped
- 18:19by my words? Who is strengthened by my faith?
- 18:26And who is encouraged by my presence? Now ask
- 18:33the Holy Spirit, Lord. Use my life to bless others.
- 18:38Use my story to strengthen others. Use my legacy
- 18:43to point people to you. Let that prayer rest
- 18:49in your spirit. Let us pray. Father, thank you
- 19:00for the people you've placed in our lives. Thank
- 19:04you for the privilege of influencing others for
- 19:06your glory. Help us live in a way that strengthens
- 19:12our families, encourages our friends, builds
- 19:17our communities, and blesses future generations.
- 19:23May our legacy be a testimony of your goodness.
- 19:29May our lives point people to Jesus. In his name
- 19:34we pray. Amen. And now we're going to talk about
- 19:48finishing well. Because legacy is not just about
- 19:52how you start. Legacy is about how you finish.
- 19:58It's about the direction of your life. It's about
- 20:01the faith you hold on to. It's about the choices
- 20:07you make in the seasons that test you the most.
- 20:18We're finishing today, and it's all about living
- 20:24the rest of your life with intention, clarity,
- 20:28and with a legacy that honors God. Finishing
- 20:33well is not automatic. It does require you to
- 20:36focus. It does require you to surrender. It draws
- 20:42from your perseverance, and it requires wisdom.
- 20:46Many people start strong, but not everyone finishes
- 20:50strong. The enemy does not fear your beginning.
- 20:54He fears your finishing because finishing well
- 20:59is a declaration that God's work is in your life
- 21:04and cannot be stopped. Finishing well is worship.
- 21:13Legacy is built through endurance. Endurance
- 21:19in seasons of waiting. Endurance in seasons of
- 21:24uncertainty. Endurance in seasons of hardship,
- 21:28of transition, of stubbornness. Well, endurance
- 21:34is not stubbornness. Endurance is faithfulness
- 21:37under pressure. It's the trust you have in God.
- 21:42when the path is unclear. Endurance is choosing
- 21:47obedience when emotions run low. It is the backbone
- 21:52of a lasting legacy. A surrendered life is a
- 21:57powerful life. Surrender is not weakness. Surrender
- 22:01is strength under God's authority. Surrender
- 22:07says, Lord, My plans are yours. My future is
- 22:12yours. My legacy is yours. Surrender is the doorway
- 22:19to divine purpose. When you surrender, God shapes
- 22:24your legacy in ways you could never imagine.
- 22:28He opens doors you could not open. He closes
- 22:34doors that would have harmed you. He leads you
- 22:40into assignments you never saw coming. A surrendered
- 22:46life is a guided life. Let us anchor ourselves
- 22:54in the Word of God. Acts 20 verse 24 says, I
- 23:01consider my life worth nothing to me. My only
- 23:07aim is to finish the race and complete the task
- 23:11the Lord Jesus has given me. This is the heart
- 23:18of finishing well. Not finishing with applause
- 23:22or recognition or even comforts, but it's finishing
- 23:24with faithfulness. Finishing with obedience.
- 23:31And finishing with a purpose. Because all we
- 23:37do has to have that purpose. Purpose is important.
- 23:43Faithfulness is not, well, faithfulness is not
- 23:49what some people think it is. Faithfulness is
- 23:55the greatest legacy you can leave. It is not
- 24:00perfection. It is not brilliance. And it's not
- 24:03success. Faithfulness. faithfulness in your walk
- 24:12with God faithfulness in your relationships faithfulness
- 24:18in your callings your character faithfulness
- 24:22is what heaven celebrates and faithfulness is
- 24:27what eternity remembers and that memory of the
- 24:34faithfulness is what shapes generations Every
- 24:41life has chapters. Some chapters are filled with
- 24:43joy. Some chapters are filled with pain. Some
- 24:48chapters are filled with growth. Some chapters
- 24:53are filled with waiting. But hear me. God is
- 24:58the author of your story. And the final chapters
- 25:02of your life can be the most impactful chapters
- 25:06you ever live. Your greatest influence may still
- 25:13be ahead. Your greatest ministry may still be
- 25:16ahead. Your greatest testimony may still be ahead.
- 25:22God writes endings that redeem everything. Place
- 25:32your hands over your heart. Take a slow breath
- 25:36in and exhale gently. Now whisper, Lord, help
- 25:44me finish well. Let that prayer sink into your
- 25:50spirit. Now imagine the rest of your life, your
- 25:59relationships, your calling, your influence,
- 26:01your legacy. Imagine placing it all in God's
- 26:09hands. Now whisper. My life is yours. My story
- 26:15is yours. My legacy is yours. Let peace settle
- 26:20over you. Let us pray. Father, thank you for
- 26:31calling us to live with purpose in every season
- 26:34of life. Thank you for shaping our legacy through
- 26:37faithfulness, through endurance, through surrender.
- 26:42Teach us to finish well. Teach us to walk with
- 26:46wisdom. Teach us to live with intention. Teach
- 26:52us to honor you in every chapter of your story.
- 26:58May our legacy reflect your heart. May our influence
- 27:03Point people to Jesus. May our lives bring glory
- 27:08to your name. In Jesus' name, amen. This concludes
- 27:16week 11 of our 12 -week journey, Living with
- 27:20Purpose, A God -Centered Life. You have taken
- 27:23a powerful step this week, a step toward living
