- Alex Casimiro: All right, Jason. Welcome back. Take took a few weeks off there. it was a nice nice little break for me. I know we'll hear all about your vacation here when when Marcus decides to join us. but first and foremost I do wanna say happy one year. we We released our first episode July second of last year. So we are right over a year at what forty, I think we're at episode forty five, forty six. Forty six, so obviously we've taken some time off, which is why we're not at fifty two. But been a year of doing this, so it's it's been fun. glad we've done it so far. but just wanted to Jason: Hmm. 46. Alex Casimiro: Say, you know, we we made it farther than most podcasts. Usually they give up after ten. So we made it that far. Jason: So is it an anniversary or a happy birthday? Alex Casimiro: You know, I think we can call it whatever we want. What do you want to go with? Birthday? There we go. It's our first birthday. We'll take it. Jason: Birthday. It's our first birthday. I think we should have gotten candles and cupcakes. was, I was literally going to text you earlier, like, where are we at with our annual timeframe? Cause I know it is here, but I'm glad you kept up with it. Alex Casimiro: Yeah. Yeah, we're I mean we're about a week off. and previously we were taking about a week to turn around. So you talk about the evolution of the show, and we're recording and turning it around the next day, which is awesome and amazing, 'cause we can talk a little more real time instead of like always a week lagged. Yeah. Jason: Yeah. I do remember that we're like, talking past or talk in future as our Alex Casimiro: How do how do we edit properly? How do we do this? No, it's the the workflow's been streamlined. it's been great. So glad to be here. glad to be back. Marcus will be joining us, but I wanna talk a little bit first about why I'm downstairs and Marcus isn't here. dude, it's always something that's hot in Texas and this is not internet based this time. Jason: Mm-hmm. hey. Alex Casimiro: RAC has been out and I've been fighting with home warranty for going on six days now. And luckily the boys, they were home. I mean they just slept downstairs, whatever. It's kinda like a big old sleepover for two nights. Then they were gone, which was nice. So we hadn't we had a second opinion come out today and they're kind of saying the same thing. And they're like, Well, we know we're second opinion. I'm like, Well, how much did home warranty tell you what to say then? Like instead of you doing your own due diligence. And I've asked the first company to send me the quote that they sent to American Home Shield. And they're like, well, we close at four o'clock. This was at three thirty. We close at four o'clock. so if we can pull it together, we'll we'll send it. And I was like, Well, I mean It should just be emailing me what you've already sent American, right? Like you don't need to pull anything together. You ha you have it. You just need to send it to me. So my gut tells me they're over there scrambling to create some level of an invoice to send to me to quantify the two grand they want me to pay to fix this above and beyond the home warranty. so I'm in I am in the midst of a battle when it's ninety-eight degrees outside and our upstairs is currently at like eighty something. Jason: You know, it's funny that all air conditioners always go kaput when it's the worst time. Alex Casimiro: yeah, it's i honestly, I I know the system policy needs to be replaced. It's twenty years old, but I have home warranty for a reason and it's a coil. It's not the whole system. Like it's just a coil issue and I'm like a coil issue isn't five, six thousand dollars all in. Like, come on guys, let's be reasonable here. Jason: Hmm But okay, so two grand, that's just replace the coil. But what would they have Alex Casimiro: No, two two grand is the excess above the coil because the coil is replaced because it's normal rare and tear. So that is but that's why I want to see the quote. Because you have the coil, you're gonna have refrigerant that has to be replaced. But then I'm getting charged for all of the stuff that isn't included as far as like updating it to bring it up to code, which I understand there's gonna be some level of that. Jason: Okay. Mm-hmm. Alex Casimiro: But it's like drain pan modifications, modifications to ductwork, a float switch, permitting, it's all the stuff. And I'm like, guys, I've never once pulled a permit for a coil change. Like this isn't, we're not changing the equipment. We're not changing the electrical. Like you're just changing the internal coil to the system. Like that doesn't require a permit. So there's there's things in that quote that I'm like, I need to see the backup so that we can get to the bottom of this and like figure out what I actually owe. Jason: Wow. I'm surprised that are actually going to try to replace the part being that it's that old. Cause when I used to do the property management, anything went out within the last 10 years, they automatically had to be switched to that new free on free RF 22, whatever system. you couldn't just replace a part. had to replace everything. Cause you couldn't mix components. And then, you know, they put a higher new seer rating system outside all that stuff. But I was just like, Alex Casimiro: Mm. Yeah. Jason: Wow, if they can replace it, that'd be awesome. But at some point, you might have to throw a whole new one in. Alex Casimiro: I am gonna drag my feet until the new one is covered under the cost of warranty because it's just not like it's kinda what what my water heater did. And then granted, I didn't drag my feet on that one, but a valve went out on the water heater or or a fitting went out on the water heater and they just replaced the whole thing at zero cost to us. So I'm kind of just hoping that the same thing at some point happens with this H V A C system. Jason: Mm-hmm. Nice. Did you, real quick, because I remember the hot water heater and all that stuff happened, did you replace it with a regular one or did you go tankless? Alex Casimiro: Mm-hmm. No, since it's warranty they just replaced it with a tank. But it's it's a new tank and it has a float, it has a sorry, not a float it has a water sensor switch in there, which is really nice 'cause it alarmed. Our water went out in the house probably three months back. It's when we had some really bad rain and some rain came down the vent that's right above it. and it dripped down onto Jason: with a, okay. Alex Casimiro: The water heater that then got down into the drip pan and the drip pan switched off. Cause that's been that's always been my biggest fear is if this has a leak, that's fifty gallons of water right above our kitchen. It's like that's yeah. So it's really scary, but then like it went off and it was like literally a drop of rain got on that sensor and it sh it shut the whole thing down. I was like, well, at least I know it works. Jason: nice. it's upstairs. That's good. Here you go. Alex Casimiro: Did his job. Yeah, so that is why I'm downstairs. It's hot upstairs. Grayson will be sleeping on the couch again today. So I guess I guess my job is to not piss off my wife so I'm not also sleeping on the couch next to him. Jason: Hey, it's fine. It's a big enough couch, you'll be fine. Alex Casimiro: Exactly. Well Marcus, glad to have you. I wanna hear before we get into some golf stuff, how are the trips? Both of you are on vacation, I was holding down the fort. Jason: I was waiting for the solo podcast. Marcus: Or cheese? Alex Casimiro: Yeah. You know, I I made a joke that on our last episode I like, Well Marcus if we decide to record and Marcus didn't correct me, I didn't realize he was gone at the same time. So yeah, I might have gone on by myself. Marcus: yeah. Should've told him, yeah, just keep waiting, I'm coming. Yeah. Alex Casimiro: Yeah, I'm ba I'm about to get on. Jason: You Marcus: Well, Jason's is the most exciting or the more exciting of the trips I'm I'm interested more to hearing about his trip than my trip to Legoland No Jason: No, but see, see, that's more fun. Oh man. No, I mean, yeah. Our trip that it was everything that we, wanted, um, in the sense that we, we did intend to just go in and relax. Don't do a lot of the major touristy stuff, um, which we did a little bit just to kind of see some high points, but overall the biggest thing was just like, yeah, we just got our little hotels or Airbnbs, whatever. And it was just a nice like local style living. I mean, I know was joking with you guys and do the pictures of the that one place that and that was phenomenal. Like that Villa was really cool. It felt like we were really living out there in Tuscany. And then the other places were kind of smaller, more boutique II like places through VRBO. But it was fun though, like trying to go in and trying to talk trying to talk. Alex Casimiro: Mm-hmm. Jason: with the locals. Like literally we are in grocery stores, grocery markets where there's not a lot of American tourists. So even the, the clerks and them couldn't even, even get broken English. And so I'm trying to translate the damn things only like on three G or LTE or something. And it was so slow. was like, my gosh, this is crazy. So literally shopping in some of those places was what does it look like on the picture? Alex Casimiro: Did you we we joke that you need to go buy the new Apple AirPods that translate? You should have done that. Jason: What? Marcus: Yeah. Alex Casimiro: Yeah, the AirPod fours that pros or whatever that just came out can do real time translation. Yeah, I mean it would need something, I assume, but I don't know. Jason: Yeah, but wouldn't that still need a signal though from I don't know, it would have been helpful, but it was actually kind of fun. mean, they, there was some conversing back and forth and obviously they know we're American, but you know, we tried to apply some of the terms and things, so they can grasp what we were going with. But, but the start of the trip though, sucked for me because out of the blue, I forgot the plane, all that stuff. My allergies kicked me for like two, two days. Like Alex Casimiro: Really? Jason: I'm constantly taking it, but there was something there. I don't know if it was the extra heat, because it was hot. Like it was hotter there than it is here. Alex Casimiro: Getting old. That's what you're doing. Jason: Yeah, I don't know, man. Those first few days, Rome. And I even checked everything and was like, this is weird. So it was really bad. It was miserable. But you know, we saw the Coliseum, we still made it through, saw the forum. Maddy almost passed out. Because it was so hot. Marcus: Where did you land? Alex Casimiro: I've I heard a lot about the heat wave going through there and they don't have central air conditioning in most countries European countries. Jason: No. And then her college roommate from a couple of years ago, she's from Scotland and she's there. Scotland is getting 90 degree weather and no AC. And so they were dying. It was just like, yeah. And we had some in our places, but it's those standard wall units. just threw up on the wall. It's low circulation, but it helped the Tuscany place was split into two buildings. Alex Casimiro: Oof. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Jason: ours didn't have AC, but the way it was built, I don't know, it cooled off at night. It was actually pretty incredible. We just needed a fan. And then the other ones had the small little wall units that just kept the tripper kept breaking because it just couldn't handle the amount. But you know, that place was just, again, phenomenal. It's just got a pool we're sitting there swimming in the frickin the middle of Tuscany in a pool with the valley in the background. So very relaxing vacation. So that the allergies to started off and then midway through I stepped on a bee and got stung. That's what we're afraid of. So I mean, my flare up with bug bites and stuff. So yeah, we're sitting there going, I'm we're on a mountaintop on a peninsula in the Riviera, where English is not existent. And what if I had allergic reaction like a severe one and Marcus: You Alex Casimiro: Ooh, not allergic though, right? Mm-hmm. Yeah. Marcus: How did you tell the locals that you got stung by a bee? Jason: Well, luckily, because it was a hotel boutique, had staff there. And I was well, actually, literally, I was walking over to the office to make sure we had to take care of some stuff. And he was literally right behind me, I just was walking in the grass barefoot, because it was a nice long step, jumped up, and then I like hop to the night look down, I see this fuzzy thing on my foot, and I'm just like ripping it off. And then he he was there and he knew he knew immediately what happened because I assumed it happens more than once there. And the guy like that I sat down it was starting to I don't know if you guys ever been stung Marcus: when I was little. Alex Casimiro: By a bee. By a wasp, yeah. Jason: Okay, so I don't know if it's probably the same, but it was just a sharp shooting burning. But yeah, no, he literally went outside, came back, he's like, I'll get some alo. It's like in my head, I'm thinking, it's just a topical stuff. No, the guy literally ripped cuts out a branch of aloe, just juices it all over my foot. And that thing actually felt so good. I was like, he just ripped it off. And then I did some ice on it. And then Alex Casimiro: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Jason: Just kept watching it. Yeah. But that sucked. No issues. could, there was a, I don't know. You get, was a swelling, a welt there for a couple of days by day three. was sore, but I could walk on it pretty good. But yeah. Yeah. But that was the two lows, the allergies and this bee sting, but the rest, the rest were all highs. Just being able to explore, go coastal, the Riviera. Alex Casimiro: Yeah, no issues. Yeah. Jason: evening dinner, looking over the Harbor, all that fun stuff. And then we got up to Como saw George Clooney's Villa and then the star Wars Villa. guess they used them one of the movies and I guess that's super popular. And then to end it all, that was all about ride. Like we took a boat, faring it all the way through the lake and got to jump in. So that said, we jumped in Lake Como froze, froze my nuts off, but Marcus: Hmm. Alex Casimiro: Mm-hmm. Marcus: Nice. Alex Casimiro: Yeah. Jason: It was so cool. Have you ever done a polar plunge? Yeah, so that same, that same feeling you jump in and then that instant shock, like you almost can't breathe. And then you're like, Okay, calm down. Let's get settled. Okay. But we didn't last very long. We got in and out. It was so cold. Alex Casimiro: yeah. I love Yeah. Marcus: Yeah Alex Casimiro: We Casey had never done it before. And I don't know if you've heard of that World Springs up in Grandscape that has yeah, J Sana know you do, because Shelby went there. we went for her birthday last year and it was so much fun, but I got her to go in the cold one for I don't know how long she lasted. It was probably made thirty seconds or something like that. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: You But you wouldn't think she would have done ice baths like in her soccer time in high school. Alex Casimiro: Mm mm. No, she said she didn't. I loved them. I love I did all the time in college. It was amazing. It was so much fun. Jason: I think that's a big thing now. Yeah. Yeah, I've done them a few times. But this was colder towels for sure. Yeah. Marcus: You Alex Casimiro: god, yeah, I can imagine. Well yeah, now you're now you're back stateside, gotta deal with our food. Jason: Yeah, our food sucks. But you know, it was funny the pasta there. Marcus: What is there is there is there a dish that you discovered out there that you're like hey? This is probably my new favorite or was everything pretty pretty good Jason: Now, nothing was like a new favorite for me, like everything was good. But believe it or not, there was a place, it was kind of off a dirt road. Maddie found it. And we were driving down this dirt road. We're like, Maddie, where did you find this place? Because, you know, we're googling it and all that. And we're just driving down, we see like kind of a kind of a mini RV park. And we're going, oh, my gosh, where are we going? Alex Casimiro: huh. Jason: And then we go around the corner more and then we see a house like a nice looking house. And then the restaurant was a separate sub building to the left. The best food that is probably the best restaurant we ever ate at just overall the atmosphere, the sun setting on the Tuscan valley and the food was straight up from grandma's kitchen. Like the, the, the pesto. Oh my gosh. It was. Marcus: Yeah. Alex Casimiro: that's nice. Jason: I mean, you know, our pesto here, even in parts of Italy, it's like creamy base sauce. And this one was kind of like a dry pesto is like an olive oil was just, you could see the basil stuff kind of coating it, but it had the most flavor. Like it was unbelievable. So I'm like, I'm going to pick a place that's going to be for sure hands down, but I've tried all the different kind of varieties of food. Alex Casimiro: Mm-hmm. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: there. I mean, all of its pasta, but it is interesting that each region is very particular about what noodle style what noodle shape they use. I was like, Okay, I mean, it's all the same, but it actually tastes different. Like the texture. I don't know. It was just different. But yeah, everything was pretty even keel. But that one restaurant, the backyard, we call it the backyard restaurant. Marcus: yeah. Alex Casimiro: Ha ha ha. Marcus: Yeah. Was that one of those like, hey, this is our menu and this is what you're eating? Like you don't pick, you get three. Yeah. Alex Casimiro: Y you get three three options. Jason: You know, actually, they had a they actually had a good full menu. And they also had an apple pie, but it was a cake. It was like a cake apple pie. So good. I'm telling you, this was like of all the places we ate, like it was really, really good. But we had fun. We also did the night Rome life the aperitivo at like seven o'clock at night that had dinner like at 930 10. Marcus: Okay. Yeah. Alex Casimiro: Mm-hmm. Jason: Yeah, it's going out. It was cool. We actually really enjoyed Rome in the evening this time around. Last time it was not as fun and just hanging out, watching everything happen, just enjoying our time, not feeling rushed to do anything. So that was really fun. That's been like kind of the biggest high of the whole trip. I mean, driving over there actually was pretty easy. It was better there than here. So that was fun. Alex Casimiro: Yeah. I mean, I I think the the biggest question we have is how many people did you ask about the World Cup? Marcus: Yes. Jason: actually zero. Alex Casimiro: Did any did anyone even turn it on? Or were they just mad and didn't want to watch it? Jason: I mean, we can hear people. It was on like all the bars and stuff. So it was on everywhere. I think the issue was, is because Maddie and Rosie, they were both trying to watch the games, but I think it was like 1 AM, 2 AM. so whatever games that are watching were replays or it was the first round when games were a little bit more available in the first week. Alex Casimiro: Yeah. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Alex Casimiro: Yeah, I mean most of the games were there were a couple of eleven o'clock time, but most of them were w two, three and, you know, seven or eight o'clock at night. So yeah, it would be late for y'all. Jason: Mm-hmm. Yeah, so that maybe just replace from the day before just rewatching the game because they didn't know. I don't know. Alex Casimiro: Yeah, well, glad glad you got that experience. it sounds like a great time. So Jason: Yeah, it was it was fun. But I think we're never gonna probably vacation in a foreign country that long again. Because that that 10 day mark, I think everybody were was feeling it just kind of like, it's still cool. We're in a cool place. But I think we're all we're starting to itch to to get home. Yeah. Alex Casimiro: That's good though. You should like you should be ready to come home. That's that means you vacationed properly. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: Yeah, it was good. Didn't know much about some of the places. But now if you know, when because we'll go other places. First, we would probably designate a little bit differently. And learning a little bit more about the revier. we should stay more up on this part of it. Como was a big surprise. So we would probably stay in Como somewhere else if we ever went up back that way. Alex Casimiro: Yeah. Jason: But it was good. Yeah, it was exhausting, but we made it through. We survived. Alex Casimiro: Yeah, there's always a learning curve when you go to a new place. It's like next time we come and I know how to do it better and Casey and I did that when we went to Spain and we know like when we wanna take the kids, we're like, Okay, we're doing this a little bit different. This is what we wanna do. So it you take and learn and when you go back you'll you experience some new stuff. So Jason: Mm-hmm. Yeah, I mean, your kids are older, taking a two year old was that was the first. He survived. He did well. But I swear, like the kid looks like he grew up before he left for the trip. And now we're here watching him play and stuff. like, he just looks different. Just like, what the heck, Do we come back with the right one? Alex Casimiro: Yeah, that's that's a that's a tough one. Mm-hmm. Marcus: Is it the same kid? Alex Casimiro: He got him switched. I mean he he could pass as Italian. Jason: He could. Yeah, like he is just like, it just like, wait a minute, what we were with him 24 seven, but yet he still looks much older now. Marcus: Yeah. It's like, where did Miles get that pinky ring and that Rolex? Alex Casimiro: Okay. Jason: my gosh. Alex Casimiro: Yeah, we talked about it. He was gonna come back being the godfather. Jason: Oh, he's getting that attitude. He's getting very particular about stuff now. Time for a bath. No, I'm gonna take a bath when I do bath like Alex Casimiro: That's every kid. We have that same issue with Bello half the time. It's a nightmare. Gotta love kids. Well f good. Well glad to have you back. Marcus, you you were over in the beach side of things. A little bit different vacation. Marcus: Yeah, yeah, it was over over in Florida. It was a it was a good time. guess the last thing on the Italy thing, it's probably best that you didn't know Spanish because when I was out there, I was butchering the Spanish Italian thing. And I'm pretty sure people hated my guts, like because I was just butchering it just all kinds of sideways. Alex Casimiro: Mm-hmm. Jason: you Marcus: So good for you on that. I'm not knowing Spanish because it would have thrown you off. Alex Casimiro: Mm-hmm. Jason: I know they're because I went before with a school trip. It's an older like a sister and her older brother went and they were speaking Spanish, but I guess they figured it out. Marcus: It's close, but it's not it. Yeah. Jason: No, it's, it's, yeah, it's close, but it's, there was enough that can piece together, but I was like, okay, I'm like, sounds good. And then, you know, the last thing is like that Negroni was. A S S it was terrible. Now, maybe it was made bad. I don't know, but it was. Marcus: Yeah. Yeah. Alex Casimiro: Yeah. Marcus: Come on. No, it'll put some lead in your pencil for sure. Jason: But the April spritz we had or Shelby had one actually was better this time around. Marcus: Yeah, no well Over in Florida we saw We actually saw a bit of Rome at Legoland because they have a many worlds thing and so it was like The Coliseum and the leaning Tower of Pisa so I felt like I was I was with you in Italy Jason: Hmm Hey, we did see pizza. That was a that was a first landmark for us. Like, for me, Maddie's obviously first of all of it. But yeah. Alex Casimiro: Ha ha Marcus: Yeah, no it was it was good though. and I didn't even know there was you know, this Legoland thing was a it was a thing out there I thought it was just kind of like Universal Disney, but it's kind of I If you like going on rides with no wait time and just a very cheap Like take it to get in Legoland is it was pretty it surprised me Because there wasn't a lot of people but they maintained the park like there was a lot of people Um, which was good for us because it just felt like they were, um, you know, we had just got the park all to ourselves, but, um, I was telling Blake, I was like, there's no way they're making money at this park. Um, I'm sure they kind of see this as a, a sunk business, but I mean, I have no complaints about it. I mean, I was just kind of expecting like kind of a rundown little theme park, but I mean, if If you guys get a chance and are out that way, mean, I would definitely hit up Lego land. The rides are pretty cool. They had a whole FIFA like Lego exhibit, which you can make your own jerseys and you can like shoot balls at little like Lego figures and stuff, which was pretty cool. But yeah, it was, was nice. And we, we drove all the way there. Yeah. So it was, was, it was pretty fun. Jason: my Marcus: Blake slept most of the time and I think when we got there she was like, I want to go to Disney real quick because it was like 30 minutes down the road. So then she just decided to take us on a trip over there. So she took over the way up that point. It's like, all right, whatever. is your thing. I've got us here. You can do whatever you want now. Alex Casimiro: Ha ha ha. Marcus: But it was fun. Then we spent some time with the in-laws. They have a canal house over on the kind of Fort Myers area. And so we went out fishing or Bay fishing a day and we caught a little shark. It was about like 18 inches. Yeah. So that was fun. Never seen the shark up, up, up close. Which before that Marcus wanted to take a little dip in the Jason: Mmm. Marcus: in the ocean and we pulled up the shark. Yeah, he was all like, I'm good. I don't need to go in there. I could see it. Yeah, yeah. But it was it was it was a lot of fun and that was probably we hadn't done a vacation like that, I guess, since last summer, where it's just, you know, this time I actually got to get away. Alex Casimiro: And not after. Jason: You Alex Casimiro: I can see it, I'm good. I I can ima I can imagine what it feels like. Jason: you Marcus: little bit from work so it didn't you know kind of left the left the customers in good hands and yeah it was it was it was nice no complaints from me even the drive wasn't bad I mean no Alex Casimiro: It really isn't. I think the older you get, like w 'cause we did that same kind of drive last year and it it ended up being a not that bad drive. Marcus: Yeah, yeah, it was pretty chill. It was nice. And then honestly got to see a lot of the World Cup games. So that was cool too, just because we weren't doing anything. So it was awesome. But yeah, no. Alex Casimiro: Uh-huh. Yeah, I've watched I've watched a lot of well, so I figured, you know, since y'all were on vacation, we would somewhat have a structure to this this podcast. So I I had a question for both of you that leads in, 'cause you just went on vacation, and I'm a big fan of experiences versus things. But you know something I was thinking about is like how much the world has changed as it relates to like raising a kid and the feel to always entertain your kid and like do things. Cause I imagine y'all like you've been gone for a week, Jason, two weeks. Like you're ready to just kind of sit back and relax. But how do you manage like the guilt of feeling you need to either entertain your kid or you're not doing enough because you're not taking them out to do things. you're exhausted 'cause you don't want to go do things 'cause you just got back from a 14 day vacation. You know, how how do you balance, I guess, that parent guilt that the new generation has created with social media and like always feeling you gotta do something for the kids? Jason: from I mean, I'm exhausted, still exhausted. First day we got back, it was kind of like adrenaline, which was the fourth went to dawns because he's our neighbor for a little Fourth of July little deal. But then Sunday, like all of us, Maddie Shelby, like we all our bodies were just like, dude, we're crashed out. Like, we just couldn't do anything. Miles was still kind of bouncing around. But yeah, it's tough. I know that you always want to entertain and kind of keep them active. We don't want to them in front of the TV to watch movies. But man, there's times where it's just like, dude, we need to get stuff done. Like we went on a cleaning frenzy and we had to. But I'm also kind of my older style with the girls. Just I don't feel like I need to stay and entertain them. because I want them to learn to entertain themselves and explore and get into things. so like my interaction with Miles is definitely not as high as probably I would want it to be, but at the same time, most like he'll be fine. And he's learning to get creative, to play with his toys and kind of find his own routine. like his new routine now, it's like he had this upstairs play area and then downstairs. Alex Casimiro: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Marcus: you Jason: Now he's so comfortable with opening the gate downstairs and come up the stairs. He's like, now I got all these places on board. Like we've turned around. He's halfway up the stairs. Right. But yeah, I don't know. I that's just kind of how I see it. So I don't know if I carry guilt with it. But that's just kind of where I'm at. Marcus: you Alex Casimiro: I it's kinda how all of us were raised though, right? Like Marcus, you were raised with brothers and y'all weren't always entertained and what'd you do when you're a board? Like you go figure I figure it out, go play something. It it helps create that creativity, but it's like Marcus: Yeah. Mm-mm. Yeah. Probably get in trouble to be honest, but yeah. Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex Casimiro: I don't I there's there's times that I'd almost rather that though, because I just feel like kids aren't as creative or imaginative as as we were kind of forced to be and I just it feels like you fall into that trap of if you're not creating a memory that you're failing as a parent, like in every minute of the day. But when you have two full time jobs because you have to in this economy, it's like you have two full time jobs and you, you know, work and then your kids have sports. Marcus: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Alex Casimiro: It's like when when are you gonna go run those errands? On the weekend. Well, we also need to cram a museum day and a play date and a splash pad and all these things. I mean, I ca I ran around and did errands with my parents every weekend, I felt like. You go furniture shopping, you go car shopping, it is what it is. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: Yeah, you're going to come will and deal with me. Yeah. No, you're right on that. I do feel it's not I'm going say it's guilt, but it's like we can always. I'm one of those people that's like, OK, you can always improve on something, and it's like the same way that you go towards like a career or towards picking up a new hobby or just being there for your kids. Like there's always something better that you can do. Jason: Yeah. Marcus: and it, to me, it, helps honestly that, you know, my wife is a teacher and helps me out during the summer to like not have most of that guilt. cause she's, she's very structured in like, Hey, you wake up, Marcus, make a some breakfast for your sister. you can watch TV until I get out of bed. So about eight, eight 30, you know, Jason: Hmm Marcus: Blake gets up and then they're like, all right, let's go, you know, go into our rooms, clean this up, go play. And then if it's a good day outside, she'll send them out for like an hour. So I don't care what you do outside, go for an hour and you know, go in and out, do whatever you need to do. And then, you know, she has like a structured like craft time. So it's either before lunch or after lunch. There's a craft that they are doing, so like a painting or something, which is, you know, one of the big reasons, that you select the partners that you do is for things like that. You know, you kind of look at, you know, that nurturing side of what they can provide that you may not necessarily have. You know, I do give my kids a lot of love, but I think Blake does a better job at giving them attention and doing those things. Alex Casimiro: Mm-hmm. Marcus: For us like this whole Lego land thing. I mean that was all Blake. I mean she's like hey I know the kids love Legos get them away from the TV literally bought him some Lego sets while we were there and and when we got back to the room like they they weren't even watching TV or getting on their tablets they were you know playing with their Lego sets or helping them build it and you know once it was built and they were playing together because Apparently, you know spider-man was taking over Bell's castle Alex Casimiro: yeah. Marcus: So like, in that aspect, it feels like we do need to be doing something, it just helps out just having that strong partner to help you through that and try not to feel too guilty about it. Alex Casimiro: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Well, and I think you touched on a couple of points there. one of which is, you know, I I think our parents need more of or sorry, our kids need more of their parents' presence. and not like you don't have to go do things. So like you said, playing in the backyard, like even if you just go sit with them in the backyard, your kids are gonna be pretty happy. Like they're not they're not thinking, we're not doing this or that. Like, no, I'm just playing with my parent. so I think that's something like I'm really bad about that 'cause we're so busy that you're like Marcus: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Alex Casimiro: I wanna go play outside. I'm like, okay, go play outside. Like I could actively go with I will say one thing that I've we've I say I we've made a pretty big effort in. like when we get home, I'll connect my phone to the Sonos and I play music, I'll cook. this is these are obviously the days that I'm home before Casey and I'm able to be the one cooking. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Alex Casimiro: But I'll cook, I'll clean while I'm cooking. We sit down for dinner. We don't have any screen time until eight PM on on weeknights during the summer. so dot the entire day, there's no screen time, there's nothing. So they get their tablets at eight o'clock at night, they can go do something for an hour or two. Belle is already in bed. and we do that more because like it's also Miney Casey's time, like Marcus: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Alex Casimiro: as as a married couple, like we want our time. So eight o'clock hits, we go watch our shows, they do their thing. and granted I have my kids are older than yours. We're ten and eleven, so they are slowly not wanting to be around us anyways, unless we're watching a movie. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah Yeah, what one thing that we do Do during like the especially during the summer we will call it like Family game night or family movie night and we'll pick a movie and we'll sit down and and we'll watch I think the next movie we're gonna watch is heavyweights I don't know if you remember seeing heavyweights. Yeah, so we've been watching all the old Disney classics are like Alex Casimiro: Mm-hmm. Jason: you Alex Casimiro: Yeah. Marcus: We'll play video games together. We'll do like, you know, the Mario Party stuff and you know, that's, that's good time. Just, just being with them. And we all get screen time together. Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex Casimiro: Yeah, we we need to get Yeah. We need to get back into that. We did we did do family movie night the other night and I think Casey was cursing me. I wanted to watch the new Avatar. and that is a three and a half hour movie. We we star we started watching it at eight and at like eleven. I think it was like maybe I'm gonna say nine forty five ish, Casey was like so Jason: Ugh. Marcus: Yeah, that's why old... Yeah. Alex Casimiro: What if we watch this as a series and we stop right now and I was like, no, we are watching it and I think her her and Grayson by the end of the movie were passed out in the corner of the couch and Tripp and I are sitting there eating our popcorn like this is great, like Marcus: You Yeah. That's what Disney Disney movies are great because it's 90 minutes. It's awesome. Yeah. So all right. Get to bed and then me and Blake watch our show or we'll play Call of Duty or something. Alex Casimiro: Yeah. Yeah. No, i i it's good. and I I agree with you. It's it's the small things and I mean we all have Disney Plus, so what, that's twelve bucks a month or whatever it is. So that's not expensive to do a movie night with Disney. And I was thinking about this, obviously 'cause y'all were on vacation and I was already kind of thinking about the experiences and the life experiences, but we took Belle to her first movie, went to Toy Story on Sunday. Jason: Yeah. you Marcus: how was that? Jason: Yeah, how is it? Alex Casimiro: great. I loved it. It was it was great. really, really enjoyed it. yeah, Lily Bed. so no, we we loved it. Marcus: Yeah, screen time. Yeah, Lily. Yeah. Alex Casimiro: But it just got me thinking, like, we don't when we don't have the boys, we don't do that. Like Bella's that child that like she just gets toted around, like 'cause when we don't have the boys, those weekends we're catching up on errands and we're doing this and we're doing that and she might have a birthday party or or this or that or sometimes we go hang out with like fourth of July we went and hung out with my sister. So she does get to do fun things when her brothers aren't there too, but nine times out of ten, she's just the hey, you're you're coming with us, we're going furniture shopping, we're going grocery shopping, we're doing this, we're doing that. Marcus: Yeah. Alex Casimiro: So we did that movie and I was like, we probably need to be better about like not just toting you around and treating you like you're a five year old and actually doing stuff you wanna do. But again it you get into that guilt and you're like, I don't wanna fall into the social media of, you know, I gotta cut you a dinosaur shaped sandwich just because social media tells me to. Jason: you Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: Ahem. Marcus: No. Yeah. Jason: No, we're not. No, I won't go that far. I won't do all the fruit fruit just made you a sandwich or Shelby's real good about having miles include be included to help make dinner like he kind of gets his hands dirty. So yeah, we interact in ways where she's better about it interacting with him and getting him involved in those types of aspects and he helps me clean like he'll hold the vacuum or the mop and we'll do that. And he's like, Okay, I'm done. And he goes friends off but Alex Casimiro: Uh-huh. Jason: At least he's kind of getting into that. Um, but yeah, his screen time though, now that he does daycare during the summer, most days, uh, he wakes up. We don't let them watch TV as much. Um, unless we're like really needed him to like be distracted. Uh, but other than that, he gets up plays, goes to daycare till about three 34 comes home. Then he gets a little bit of screen time TV. See to me screen time. I didn't know. I also, talked about that tablet versus TV. I Marcus: Yeah. Alex Casimiro: Mm-hmm. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: viewed differently because it's not as interactive because that's part of the problem with all the interactive, the touching and the sensory, but just watching something. So he gets some of that as he winds down for the evening and then he plays. Alex Casimiro: Mm-hmm. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Yep. Alex Casimiro: Yeah, and again, my kids are older, and Bella, I guess, just is the unfortunate one that has to deal with us watching certain shows. But we do our best, like when we do watch T V prior to or maybe before watching TV while we're eating dinner in those occasions. like tonight it was quick. I had to get ready for the podcast. I got I didn't get home 'til what five forty five, six ish. We had to cook dinner. So we just ate and watched quiz with balls. Jason: you Alex Casimiro: Right. So it's like we watch it's Jay Farrow. Jason's looking at me weird. It's Jay Farrow's the host. They they ask they they start with five people each on a team and you have like six slots that a ball rolls down and like hits you and pushes you into water. So you have to like the five people on a team, there's a question with one wrong answer. Jason: Like, Marcus: What'd do? Alex Casimiro: And you obviously stand in front and if someone gets knocked off you earn money, if not. But it's had I mean, I'm not like I say it's educational, but it's a quiz. Like it's it's something that's a little more interactive. We're all engaging, like one was like a list of six movies, three of were accurate, three of weren't on a fictional detective. And we're sitting there like, Okay, like Jessica Jones, that's a detective, a fictional detective. This so you kinda have that conversation. So we do that one and we do The Floor, which is another quiz kind of show. Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: Mm. Alex Casimiro: So we we do our best to find like more of that interactive, engaging, something that's at least semi jogging the brain juices because we're all sitting there trying to answer and not just like toss on a show and eat while we're watching something that all of us are paying attention to. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: Mm hmm. It's funny you bring up shows because I do have a request from Maddie. And obviously it's directed towards to you and she actually brought up questions and opinions to me. She wants to know your insight. All right. Who do you want to win? Alex Casimiro: You want my input on Love Island. God. Alright, let's go. I'm ready. Marcus: You Alex Casimiro: Ugh that's a tough one. I I think Brinity is the that's Bryson Trinity, is the likely winner and well deserving. I think they are they have both acted very respectful throughout the entire process. I personally like Kata and Zach the best though. So I want them to win. Jason: Okay. But she okay so she did pick Trinity and Bryce. She wants to know your thoughts on Zack snake manipulator. Kata deserves better. So I don't Alex Casimiro: Uh-huh. I know. I don't know if I agree with that one. I don't think he's I don't think he's a manipulator. I think he is just an immature boy. I think he I I think he could have handled Casa a little bit better. Marcus, we can't see anymore. Jason: Mark is just sick in his seat. Marcus: you Alex Casimiro: He doesn't he doesn't wanna be he doesn't wanna associate with this. Marcus: I don't want to be associated. Jason: I don't watch it. I'm just the messenger. Marcus: I have no idea the names he's saying right now. Alex Casimiro: Yeah. Jason: Neither do I. Alex Casimiro: Yeah no. No, I think I think Zach could have handled Casa better, but I don't think he did it intentionally, which is where I think the word manipulative comes into play. Manipulative means malintent and I don't think he was malicious in what he was doing. I just think he was being dumb and left certain parts of the story out, whether it fit a narrative or not. So no, I I think he's a good guy. I just think he is a little young and immature. Kate is awesome though. I think she's very mature and I think they work together. Jason: You Okay. All right. She's got thoughts on Sincere. Is that a name? Sincere? Alex Casimiro: c yeah, since here's com he's he's the complete opposite. I mean, I wanted to like the guy so bad, but he is he's bad. Like he's just you can't trust anything. He even the guys were a little frustrated with him because they do what's called movie night where they like show all the stuff like to everyone. 'Cause obviously they have all these cameras and all these interactions. And even the guys were mad because he was lying to the guys about like what he was doing with some of the other girls. 'Cause he's with Melanie and it was bad situation for Sincere. God, yeah, she sh she should have she should have walked like five weeks ago. Like she should have dumped him, kicked him to the curb. It was it's bad. Jason: Okay, she hates that she's staying with him. So that's pissing Maddie off. Apparently. Okay. Thoughts on KC and TT or whatever. Alex Casimiro: yeah, Tierra, T T. that's a tough one. I I think they Jason: Okay, Casey, that's like Casey. Alex Casimiro: Thoughts on Casey and Tierra. I think they genuinely like each other. I think Casey again handled Caso more very poorly. He was very disrespectful to Anaya. He could have like done his thing without like calling Anaya a grandma and all these other things. so there's a di there's a respectful way to go about the process and a disrespectful way. And sincere and Casey chose the disrespectful way. Jason: So she loves Carl. Are you team Carl? Alex Casimiro: Anaya love Maddie loves Carl. Yeah, Carl's awesome. Carl's he's he's he's a good guy. He he okay, this is gonna sound weird. Kind of reminds me of you because he's I think he's that kind of half Asian to like Chinese, but y'all have very similar features. and he's a little quirky, like kind of gets that quirky humor, and that's you're kind of the same. Like you get that quirky humor. Like I see him and I'm like, huh, that's kinda that kinda reminds me of Jason. Jason: Anaya? Okay. Okay. All right. So she wants to know your thoughts on Kenzie, Gabe and Dylan, like this triangle thing. I don't know. Alex Casimiro: I yeah, there's there's not much nice I can honestly say about Kenzie through the process. I wanted to like her as well. But I think Dylan's a good guy. and I think he's I think she's gonna do what she did to every other guy, to Dylan, so he's probably gonna get his heart broken. but again, I think Kenzie falls in that going through the process a little disrespectfully. Jason: Okay, what about this game guy or who's Alex Casimiro: yeah, I mean he he was just a guy. I actually, you know, he gave player vibes right off the fr right off the jump. and he actually turned out to be a pretty nice guy from what I could tell. Jason: Okay. All right. Well, thank you for your thoughts. She'll appreciate it. She listens to us weekly, but that's Alex take on love Island. Alex Casimiro: You know, it's great show. You should definitely watch. I'm gonna be finishing this recording and going and watching tonight's episode, so Marcus: How many more episodes are left? No one knows? okay. Alex Casimiro: Getting close to the end. We're at we're at like episode twenty eight, so I mean we're we're getting close to the end. There's usually around thirty-ish, mid thirties. We'll we'll do a full season. Yeah, there is. Yeah, there's a there's a winner. Marcus: Is there a winner? Is this like a survivor? Okay. Okay. Alex Casimiro: You're welcome. And we'll we'll do a full season recap for you in like a week or two. Jason: It's like... Marcus: Okay. Jason: Okay, I'm a little confused because I only caught glimpses of I think I don't even know like one or two seasons ago, just because Shelby started watching it. But I didn't pay attention to how like America votes for the winner. So they have to be the popular couple, right? Or is it based on the participants in the show that votes for the winner? Alex Casimiro: That's actually a really good question. I can't remember if it's America or the contestants. I think the contestants vote for the final winner. At least I thought they did. But America does I think America like America does intermittently throughout the season do random voting, like vote for the most compatible couple, and then the three least compatible get are vulnerable is what they call it. And then the people that are safe, the couples that are safe will then like vote out the couple that they think is least compatible. Jason: Okay. Okay. And then I know. Alex Casimiro: That's in the end of the season. Early on in the season, they'll do that same kind of thing, but then it'll be like the girls will vote out the guy and the guys will vote out the girls. So like and they don't talk to each other, can't talk to each other. So the girls might send home one person that's technically in a couple with someone else, but then the guys send home someone else, and now that couple's shattered and everyone gets pissed off. And it's it gets it gets messy at times. so it's just it y you gotta weather you gotta weather the really immature moments. Jason: you Marcus: Yes. Alex Casimiro: And just and just be open to the process. Marcus: Sounds like high school with extra steps. Jason: It sounds like it Alex Casimiro: It's great. Look, look, here's the deal. Here's the deal. When you work long days and you deal with kids and you just want to turn on something mindless to feel like amazing about your life because you're like, look at where I am on I never have to go on this show. It's like this is perfect. Jason: with social media, Thai school and social media. I'm sure there's other shows. Alex Casimiro: I mean, yeah, there are, but this one's one of the better ones. I mean, Love is Blind is gonna kick up soon. Big Brother's gonna start soon. I mean, there's plenty of other shows, but right now it's like World Cup and Love Island. Those are the two things we watch. Take some s Marcus: I used to watch like, road rules in real world like, way back in the day. Alex Casimiro: Do you watch the challenge? Marcus: yeah. Well, I used to watch, I used to watch the challenge. Is there, is a challenge still going on right now? Alex Casimiro: Okay. See? That's also that's also trashy. God yeah, we watched too. It's great. Hey, so here's here's the other thing. have y'all seen Outlast? It's on Netflix. It's kind of a survival show. we were Grayson wasn't here and we all like watching it. but Grayson wasn't here and we were like you know trip was on Father's Day weekend, so we had trip and we're like, let's just find something to watch. And there's only so much 'cause like we have a lot of family shows and we a lot of stuff that everyone wants to watch. We're like Jason: Wow. Mm-hmm. Alex Casimiro: Let's just watch Outlast. We'll watch a couple episodes. Grayson can catch up pretty easily. Or our episodes if we just watch two of them, like whatever. We ended up binging the entire season in one sitting. Like it was just like it had been one of those, like we had been go, go, go all the way up to Father's Day weekend, and then Father's Day weekend hit. And I was like, I don't want to do anything. So I think it was either I think it was Saturday night leading into Father's Day. We're like, Jason: gosh. Marcus: You Alex Casimiro: eight o'clock we started watching it and I don't I think we went to bed at like two in the morning because we had binged the entire season. It was amazing and hilarious and really bad all at the same time. We're like, I don't think we've ever sat and done that, let alone with our eleven year old son. Great parenting right there. Trip loved it. And we talk about experiences. He he loved it. He was like, I get to do something cool with my parents. so yes, that that is shows. But we gotta talk golf. Jason: my gosh. Marcus: Yeah. Yeah. Jason: Mm-hmm Alex Casimiro: Oof. One just a random thought that came into my head as I said golf. good, good own good, goods own Brad Dalkey. got a sponsor exemption. Actually did pretty good at the DP World Tour this past week. I think he think he finished T thirty, which is I mean, he was top ten for three rounds, I think, or something like that. Up until maybe his third round. I think he had a bad third round. either way, so congratulations to him. That's great for a sponsor's exemption. But what we really gotta talk about. Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex Casimiro: Marcus, do you know anything? I know Jason and I do, so I wanted to ask you, do you know anything about what they're rolling out, I think, in twenty twenty eight season as far as a structure? Marcus: From... I guess I briefly looked over some tweets or ex-posts, whatever, but it looked like a relegation league? Is that my understanding? Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex Casimiro: Yeah. Yeah, so it's it's really interesting timing because if you've been watching the World Cup, you know our coach, Mauricio Pochettino, he's Argentinian, played in an Argentina World Cup and all that fun jazz. And they were asking him about MLS. And if you know anything about American soccer, we have MLS and then what's coming is the USL. MLS is like any other American Jason: you Alex Casimiro: pro sport where it's one league, that's it. USL is a tiered system like they have in Europe and every really everywhere else in in the world. Pochetino said that the American pro sports rewards mediocrity because like you don't what happens if you're not good? Your coach may get fired and you find a new coach and you move on, but there's no like relegation promotion type system in any of our sports. Jason: you Marcus: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Alex Casimiro: So it's really interesting timing coming on him saying those words and now golf is moving to this relegation promotion system that's like, we're moving away from mediocrity and moving towards what I think Rolap's had multiple times in his press release was meritocracy. Like you're gonna earn your spot and if you do it's gonna be great, right? Your the payouts are gonna be good. But Marcus: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Alex Casimiro: Everyone said that the no cut events were terrible from the jump. Like no one really liked that. I mean seventy players you play, like it's just like with Liv, everyone was saying it's not really that competitive. Like it's fifty four holes and no cuts. Like, how is that really competitive? And then we did the same thing on PGA, just seventy two holes. So I think that's my favorite thing about the whole system is it is relegation and promotion for what top ninety players, I think. Marcus: you Mm-hmm. Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: Yeah, and I think I was saying there, there's no more, no more non cut events, everything is going to have at least in the championship series, there's going to be cuts now, regardless. Alex Casimiro: Yeah, I mean a hundred and twenty player fields thereabouts. I mean, you're looking at hundred and twenty to a hundred and thirty player fields, that's a pretty big tournament 'cause I think I wanna say the US Open's like the biggest tournament they have, and that gets up to one hundred forty, if I remember correctly, somewhere in that ballpark. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: Mm So they're saying the format for the championship series is the standard 120 average, but the challenger can get up to 140, which is the one below just I guess, to give a few more opportunities for them. Yeah, all cuts know all of that. So Alex Casimiro: Mm-hmm. Jason: Yeah, it's really cool. don't know all these other, I didn't read into all these other little things postseason. I don't know what that looks like now. The last last chance series. Alex Casimiro: they're so so they're breaking it up exactly what we talked about on this podcast with and it's not our idea. I want to be very clear. I said that in a way that makes it sound like it was our idea. we we have tal we have yeah, we've come up Brian Rolap. We came up with no, we've talked about what other people have talked about. so they're splitting it to where they're gonna have a season long winner based on the points that you've earned, but then it moves into a match. Jason: Yeah. No, we came up with it. Alex Casimiro: Which is exactly what we've said is that that's what's gonna get people to watch, is doing a playoff style. Every other sport has a true playoff. And sometimes your number one seed doesn't win. It is what it is. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: . So this whole, traditional FedEx cup series is not gonna be existent anymore. Alex Casimiro: That's what it sounds like. I think they're a little murky on on that still. I think that's the one part that they've gotta figure out. But from what I've said from what I've heard it was moving to a match and then you'll have your season long winner. Jason: Hmm So the season long winners just award it automatically like Scheffler, you're the season winner because you've got the most points or whoever it is at this point. I can kind of see it like, hey, if you're in the top 32 or whatever they more than whatever they do, they do just like the World Cup, not the World Cup, the match play, the, know, the Accenture match play format that they used to do where players get seated and go head to head. Alex Casimiro: Mm-hmm. E sorry, I was reading. Say that last part again. Jason: I mean, I'm, I don't see how it is, but I could, I can imagine it being like the Accenture match cup play or like the March madness, like all the, like the top, whatever players are to start filtering in. Alex Casimiro: Yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. You'll get yeah, you'll get seated, and you'll go, I'm assuming it's gonna go off whatever the regular season points is. but yeah, as I'm reading here, so they don't know how big it'll be, whether it's like sixteen, thirty two, sixty four players. it does say that it's gonna rotate, so it will not always be at East Lake anymore. the tour championship will rotate through the prestigious courses. Marcus: Mm-hmm. further details. Alex Casimiro: And then obviously some of your playoffs will have consequences beyond the FedEx Cup. It'll also have relegation tied to it to some extents. Jason: you Marcus: Thanks. Jason: Yeah, what is it like if you're outside the top 90 or 120? No, it's gotta be 120. You're relegated, right? Alex Casimiro: nine ninety. Ninety is championship series. Ninety players. Marcus: 90. Jason: Okay. So nine top Marcus: that's cool. Jason: 90 automatically get a spot and then the last 40 whatever. Alex Casimiro: Thirty to forty, depending on field size, would be people that are on that bubble. And or yeah, correct. Jason: on the Challenger series. Marcus: And that's just looking through here. have that like, you're 90 players ago to that postseason, but then the last 30 go into this last chance series where they play the top 20 from the Challenger series. If I'm reading this right. And they'll play that in the fall and whoever wins from there will go into that the championship series for next season. Jason: Yeah. Alex Casimiro: Yeah. Yeah, I think you know, there's gonna be pros and cons. what it it makes it really hard because the purses are twenty million for the ch championship series series, but the challenger's only four million. So it's definitely gonna make it hard for these guys to to get to the top level 'cause it puts you back in that grind mode, I think. Marcus: I like that. Alex Casimiro: Over the past few years, PGA has really made some good ways that you can go straight from college to the PGA tour through what is it that if you were top one or two, I think you've got an automatic what I'm I'm blanking on the word, probationary card. to some events. you know, it makes the Corn Ferry one level lower. I mean, just by Jason: you Marcus: Mm-hmm. Alex Casimiro: You had the PJ tour and you had 120 something people fighting for those spots. Now you're putting a tier in there. So it pushes your your corn fairy down because you're you can't go corn fairy straight to the championship. You're gonna have to go corn fairy to challenger to championship. So I I can see that this is gonna frustrate some people, but I think from a yeah, I think well, I think it it it goes back to that meritocracy, but I also think that it's going to Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: Make them work harder. Alex Casimiro: drive a little bit more of the views and engagement 'cause that's one thing that I I think has been noticeably tougher is that just less people have been watching golf. I think it there's not many impacts. People just don't watch until it's a major or one of the playoffs. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Yeah, I think you'll get new people coming into like, I mean, I like our home tournament here, the Byron Nelson. We don't normally get a lot of bigger names except for, mean, Scotty, because he's from Texas, but I mean, this makes it into a way where they get in that grind mode and they have to, I guess, to a certain extent. Alex Casimiro: Well yeah, and you're also gonna have to they're they're gonna have to hit the big markets. right now, like you don't have a standing tournament in New York every year. Like we had the Byron and the Colonial in Dallas, Houston generally has one. you know, Florida has a good swing, but like Boston has one near isn't the travelers near Boston? Jason: Hmm Connecticut. Alex Casimiro: I think that one's close. Philadelphia is a big market that you might have a tournament every now and then close. New York doesn't, Seattle doesn't, Los Angeles really doesn't have like a standing standing. They have a bunch around it between Pebble Beach and and Torrey Pines. But I don't think like you have a standing tournament in l the Los Angeles area. So I think I think Marcus: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Alex Casimiro: Their goal is to also target some of the big markets, which will help with sponsorship too. Jason: Yeah. I think New York only gets the majors when the U S open and those go up there. They, don't have like a on rotation. I mean, RBC, Canada, Canadian open is in Toronto. That's the most North they get, but they, even then that's kind of like a field, I guess, when you think about it. Alex Casimiro: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well yeah, and you have so many, like if you think Chicago, I know there's tournaments that have passed through there, but like the Chicago region, even Wisconsin has great golf courses that don't get touched. I mean, whistling straight, Aaron Hills, the you have Leto that's up there now, Mammoth Dunes. You have all these nice courses, and I'm not saying they're all good enough for a PJ tour, but my point is like you have a lot of golf in that region and they don't really get represented with a PJ tournament. Jason: they have some of the best. Alex Casimiro: 'Cause Chicago might have a tournament every now and then. So I think it'll be good. and it goes into effect twenty eight season, so I mean we're still two years away from really seeing this. Jason: Well, that it does. That's good that they know it's coming because I just pulled up the, uh, Oh, WGR and just kind of seeing it like if it were to start next season, um, top 90 automatic, but once who would be on that, that, uh, last chance series or whatever that 91 to 120, uh, blades Brown is there. Um, and then Alex Casimiro: Mm-hmm. Jason: After that, it's like, obviously, Koepka, Kamp Smith, Tom Hoagy, some other guys you kind of know, Koepka is there, Fee now, he's only 118, so he would be on the bubble of moving on. The OWGR, assuming that's what they're going, not Moneylist, The World Golf Rankings? I thought it was, I thought it'd be Girl Golf Rankings. Alex Casimiro: And you said you're looking at O W G R so you're looking at golf rankings. I don't know how they're gonna start it. 'Cause I once they f once they get into it, they'll go off the standings from the previous year. But I so so are they gonna use standings from twenty twenty seven season going into twenty eight or are they gonna go off World's golf rankings? That's a great question. Marcus: Hmm. Jason: I'm assuming it's world golf ranking. That's the way I'm looking at it. Alex Casimiro: Well even if even if not, I I pulled up the FedEx just to do the same exercise and even if they don't, you have some notable names. Billy Horschel. Jason: Like Billy Herschel is out. Alex Casimiro: yeah, that's Jason: Joel Damon's out. Like just some popular names that we've known. I mean, there's a lot of guys on here where I see names but don't know them. Alex Casimiro: Yeah. Yeah, you got McKenzie Hughes, Rasmus, Kucher, which he's kind of fallen off anyway. Zach Blair did pretty good this past week. Eric Van Royen. So I mean there's a lot of players between that ninety to one thirty, regardless of what list you're looking at, that they're gonna Jason: Right. I mean, all the live guys are out, they're gonna have to if they continue, they'll have to find a way back in. Alex Casimiro: Yeah, so so that's a that that's that bodes a great question. and we started off with that. do you think that they're gonna give a path to the Challenger tour for some of the bigger live names? Jason: I think they're still trying to figure out. think if they was it, know, was it Poulter, Rom and Westwood? Didn't they pay their DP fee, the penalty fee so they can play again. Alex Casimiro: Mm-hmm. Yeah, 'cause Rom is playing this week at the Scottish Open. Jason: Yeah. I mean, if there is a chance for them, I think the olive branch would be, Hey, you can come back to the PGA tour, but you're going to be relegated to the challenger series. Like there there's no way they can give them that top 90. Alex Casimiro: Yeah. No, I don't think they may again do one of those exemptions for like they did for Brooks. they may offer that again for Bryson and Romm and Cam Smith, I guess. But I think those would be I think Cam Smith made it clear he doesn't really want to come back. so I I think I could see it, but I think they're gonna end up going straight to the Challenger series. I think they're gonna offer a f way to get back. Marcus: Uh-uh. Jason: But that would be the only two. I don't think cam cams. Yeah, I could see. and And I think Bryson if that was the only path, he's not going to do it. He'll he'll go to YouTube. Alex Casimiro: Yeah, I I I agree with you there. I Marcus: you Jason: Rom? I think Rom will just stick on the DP and just kind of play his way back through that way. I don't think he's interested in coming back to the PGA. At least not right now. Alex Casimiro: Yeah, but don't they live in Florida? It's gonna be tough to do D P when you live in Arizona. Yeah, it's tough to tough to D P when you live on the western side of the States. Jason: Arizona. I think once they officially hear Liv is completely gone, there may be some thought processes that change. Alex Casimiro: True. True. Well, yeah, that it'll be interesting to seeing what happens on further golf news. guys, I still haven't played golf. but what I have done, Colin and I have been extremely disciplined in our workout and play. we didn't do today, but that's because he's sick and I just have a lot going on at work, so it's like I'm gonna go to work early. but working on my swing. Did w I we don't need to get into it right now 'cause we've already been on for a little over an hour. we can save it for next time. But I did do kind of a a lesson, I'm gonna call it a lesson with Ben, but zero lesson if that makes sense. We it was all mental. We like sat and talked through mental stuff for an hour and it was it was great. some new stuff that they're rolling out at IGP. so it was it was good. We can cover that next time. Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: Okay. Alex Casimiro: But I'm I'm slowly getting getting some sway I'm I'm at least touching the clubs twice a week 'cause we do this every Tuesday, Thursday. Jason: That's good. okay. Well, that is good. Marcus: That's good. Alex Casimiro: So Colin and I have very different motives. He's trying to put on weight, I'm trying to lose weight. and man, it it's tough. He's kicking my butt in the in the rankings right now. I think he's up five to two on me. on our in our matches. When we see, but that's the thing. When when we do like a full on like either match or stroke, but we let we can do all of our clubs. Jason: Yeah, but the guy lives at a golf simulator shop like when Alex Casimiro: It's competitive and I actually think I'm beating him in that. But then we'll do like we want to challenge ourselves, so we'll do a three club challenge or a four club challenge or one one time we did a randomizer where we would just pick a number between one and thirteen and that's the club we gotta hit. and we would both do it. So like we were both at the same tee shop, both at the same second shot, and it was match play anyway, so whoever got to the green first generally won. Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex Casimiro: he beats me stuff like that because I have lost my touch on the half shots and the being creative style, shaping the ball and like flopping an eight iron isn't exactly something I can do right now. So he's he's kicked my button in those more creative type matches that we've done. So we're due for a full bag just to normal play. So hopefully it'll be five to three next time we talk. Jason: I mean, I mean, I've been very sporadic in my playing just for vacation and other reasons. So went to the race today, but man, I am sore. Like my body is feeling it. Like it's I need to get back into golf shape and shape in general. Alex Casimiro: Yeah, I'm I'm glad I haven't been sore, but we'll we actually we put a decent workout in. We're doing a lot of golf movements, so it's been good so far for like not being not feeling that soreness. Jason: Yeah, that's good. Alex Casimiro: So all right, gents. What else do you y'all have? good to get back on the mics, glad to get back in a semi normal routine. only have what, five more weeks of summer before we're all back to getting kids to school and Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: Now I'm at three and a half weeks. Alex Casimiro: You go back a week early, don't you? Yeah, yeah. Jason: think August 3rd or 4th I go back. Alex Casimiro: Yeah, there you go. Jason: Yep. It's winding down. Alex Casimiro: Already flew by. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: Yep. Alex Casimiro: boys, you got anything? Jason: Nope, I'm good. Marcus: Yep, all good. Alex Casimiro: Alright, well, again, happy birthday to the Scrambling Dads for our one year. you weren't here when we talked about that, Marcus. we've had Marcus for like six months now, so I mean that's gotta mean something too. don't know if that was for better or worse yet. We're still figuring that out. but we we appreciate everyone sticking with us. it's been great. we are Marcus: Nah. Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: Yeah, we'll see. Alex Casimiro: gonna get back into the swing of things weekly, every Wednesday, YouTube, Spotify, Amazon, and Apple. and you can always thank Jason for being our amazing producer and editor here because he turns it around twenty four hours. Not even twelve hours. Marcus: Yeah. Great job. Alex Casimiro: boys. Well until next week. See ya. Jason: Good night. Marcus: All right, see ya.
