- 1:53Speaker 1: bo bound, straight funk with you. We'll have Mike Detilier
- 1:59Speaker 1: in an hour and a half, Mike d on the
- 2:01Speaker 1: uh uh passing away. Uh the legendary best SEC baseball
- 2:09Speaker 1: coach in the history of the SEC. Well, no, best
- 2:17Speaker 1: best college baseball coach ever. Skip Bertman passed away a
- 2:20Speaker 1: few days ago in baton Rouge at LSU and uh.
- 2:26Speaker 1: And I know about the Southern cal run in the
- 2:28Speaker 1: sixties and seventies, and and we mentioned Corbin at Vanderbilt
- 2:33Speaker 1: in the two thousand, which I don't want to take
- 2:35Speaker 1: anything away from that just because you know, we we
- 2:38Speaker 1: do this just because he didn't win five God, he
- 2:41Speaker 1: played for a bunch of them and won a couple
- 2:43Speaker 1: and and and built a phenomenal program. But skip Bertman
- 2:49Speaker 1: is is you know, he'll go down as the best
- 2:52Speaker 1: baseball coach in the history of college baseball. And so
- 2:55Speaker 1: we'll talk to Mike Ntilier about that. Mike's known him
- 2:57Speaker 1: for thirty five years since he in fact, Mike they
- 3:02Speaker 1: started just about the same time when Mike started covering
- 3:07Speaker 1: Detilier the Saints mid eighties and Bertman was eighty four,
- 3:10Speaker 1: so their paths have of course, Mike d does you
- 3:15Speaker 1: know LSU pregame and yes, Saints pre game, so he's
- 3:21Speaker 1: all intertwined there. And when he was doing it, Bertman
- 3:24Speaker 1: was either the coach or the athletic director, as y'all know,
- 3:26Speaker 1: and then he was a d or he was just
- 3:29Speaker 1: whatever I want to be emeritis, you know, the last
- 3:34Speaker 1: fifteen sixteen years, as y'all know. So we'll talk about
- 3:37Speaker 1: that and the Jade and Daniels saga. I can't help
- 3:42Speaker 1: it laugh. I mean Lane Kiffin's like, look, you know
- 3:46Speaker 1: he's all for Jaden Daniels. Well, it's anybody who's in
- 3:48Speaker 1: the NFL to be a part of the LSU program
- 3:50Speaker 1: because no one is understands branding and marketing and PR
- 3:55Speaker 1: and keeping the spotlight on your program like Lane Kiffin.
- 4:00Speaker 1: But if he comes down to DJ Pickett, who is
- 4:02Speaker 1: a current player, you know, Lane's about winning games at LSU.
- 4:07Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, he wants Jaden Daniels to do well
- 4:10Speaker 1: with the Washington Commanders. But he's thinking, I got Clyps
- 4:14Speaker 1: in week one, and on this week three, I want
- 4:17Speaker 1: everybody I can get. We're not If DJ Pickett was
- 4:21Speaker 1: promised number five, then by damn he gonna wear number five.
- 4:25Speaker 1: So uh, you have number five? All right, we're moving on, right.
- 4:29Speaker 1: I mean he doesn't even have time. He's spent not
- 4:32Speaker 1: near as much time as people think on this. These
- 4:35Speaker 1: coaches have way too much to do, so, you know,
- 4:40Speaker 1: not really well exactly, not really. I mean that is
- 4:43Speaker 1: so dry. It's just it's it's I mean, which one.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Maybe your fan base would rather lose to Alabama. Oh
- 4:52Speaker 1: that's cold, that's cold. Not really, I don't know. I mean,
- 5:00Speaker 1: where do we want to go there? Maybe your fan
- 5:02Speaker 1: base would rather lose to Alabama. Oh the f you
- 5:04Speaker 1: in that is strong. You can feel it just coming
- 5:08Speaker 1: out of the speakers. And then not really, basically, I'll
- 5:11Speaker 1: kill you inthell you in the river?
- 5:12Speaker 2: That's it? Not really, I don't have time. Where's the
- 5:15Speaker 2: Ohio River? I don't.
- 5:17Speaker 1: I don't have any more time to deal with you
- 5:20Speaker 1: or anybody else.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Okay, I mean that's a joke to me. Exactly.
- 5:25Speaker 1: The Dancing rabbit golf text line six oh one eight
- 5:29Speaker 1: eight five three seven seven six. Oh my goodness, go Hawks.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Who's more excited Arkansas razorback fans or Mississippi State fans
- 5:43Speaker 1: for football season? Let's get that going on the text
- 5:46Speaker 1: lines our Kentucky? Are they already ready to fire Mark Pope?
- 5:52Speaker 4: All right?
- 5:52Speaker 1: The text line six oh one eight eight five three
- 5:56Speaker 1: seven seven six. Now I threw these out on Facebook,
- 6:01Speaker 1: and I want you all to kind of get locked
- 6:04Speaker 1: in here on this and tell me what you think.
- 6:08Speaker 2: I think you're gonna love it.
- 6:10Speaker 1: One's on Trinidad and Well and Golding, But man, Ole
- 6:17Speaker 1: miss has got a gauntlet run on their schedule. This
- 6:21Speaker 1: is gonna be a tough, tough deal for them to
- 6:28Speaker 1: to navigate to get to the college football playoff. So
- 6:33Speaker 1: here's the deal. Ole missus ranked top ten with Heisman
- 6:38Speaker 1: buzz and it's deserved from Trinidad. Okay, does Golding's brutal
- 6:45Speaker 1: five game stretch?
- 6:48Speaker 2: I'll go over it with you.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Oh goodness, gracious m Missouri at Texas, Auburn at home,
- 6:58Speaker 1: Georgia at home at Oakland Homa. Goodness, does Golding's brutal
- 7:05Speaker 1: five game stretch? Knock them out of the playoff picture,
- 7:10Speaker 1: or does Chamblis carry them through six oh one, eight, eight, five, three, seven,
- 7:17Speaker 1: seven six, And then Levy man this stretch, Bama LSU,
- 7:28Speaker 1: Oklahoma Texas, Bama LSU Oklahoma Texas. Can you goh and
- 7:38Speaker 1: four and survive? You gotta do a lot on the
- 7:40Speaker 1: front end, which are winnable games, in the back end,
- 7:43Speaker 1: which are some winnable games. Cause that middle spot Bama LSU.
- 7:50Speaker 1: I mean what, Bama LSU Oklahoma Texas.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Dude, that's serious.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Let me say it again, Bama LSU, Oklahoma Texas. They
- 8:06Speaker 1: all recruit in the top fifteen. Three of the four
- 8:10Speaker 1: recruit in the top ten two of them, no, if
- 8:13Speaker 1: not three recruit in the top five. But then you
- 8:17Speaker 1: go on a banner built Auburn, Tennessee Tech home home home.
- 8:22Speaker 1: That that will pro you know, depend on what you
- 8:25Speaker 1: do on the front end, man, those are winnable games.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Vanderbilt at home, Auburn at home, Tennessee Tech at home.
- 8:33Speaker 1: You go three and oh, lev me maybe strutting his
- 8:35Speaker 1: stuff the will well well, but if he's won early, yeah,
- 8:41Speaker 1: Liman rows of winnable game, Minnesota a winnable game, South
- 8:44Speaker 1: Carolina's a winnable game in Missouri is a winnable game.
- 8:47Speaker 1: I think Ole Miss has got a tougher schedule than
- 8:49Speaker 1: Ole Miss. The Mississippi State the first four Bulsville neutral field,
- 8:55Speaker 1: LSU at home at Florida. To me, that Trump's at
- 8:59Speaker 1: Minnesota at South Carolina, Missouri at home. Missouri's not that good.
- 9:05Speaker 1: I give Drink credit. He's done a fantastic job. They've
- 9:09Speaker 1: gotten that offensive line ready. They've been able to run
- 9:11Speaker 1: the freaking football. Give them their physical they know who
- 9:15Speaker 1: they are and what they are. But it's I mean,
- 9:18Speaker 1: Vanderbilt went ten and two last year. They didn't jump
- 9:22Speaker 1: off the page at you at all. Other than Diego Pavia.
- 9:26Speaker 1: That's where we are in college football today. There was
- 9:30Speaker 1: nothing sizzling or eye popping about Vanderbilt last year. They
- 9:35Speaker 1: went ten and two. I would watch them. Diego Pavia
- 9:40Speaker 1: was interesting. The rest was just a bunch of solid
- 9:42Speaker 1: football players. That's where we are in the SEC in
- 9:45Speaker 1: college football now. Vanderbilt tell me who was electric? What
- 9:51Speaker 1: unit was electric other than QB exactly back in a second.
- 10:10Speaker 4: Board? What on tufy boy?
- 10:28Speaker 5: Yeah, that's fake outrage. I don't want to hear all
- 10:39Speaker 5: that chit chat.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Me neither Oh hey hey, out of bounds one oh
- 10:46Speaker 1: five nine the Zone ESPN. Yes, I have Skip Bertman
- 10:50Speaker 1: over Augie Grito and we were talking Aggie Grito on
- 10:55Speaker 1: the show over twenty years ago.
- 10:59Speaker 2: That I got to meet him.
- 11:01Speaker 1: You had to meet all of them out the College
- 11:02Speaker 1: World Series if you get a if you have a
- 11:04Speaker 1: media credential, I mean over the years, all the do
- 11:07Speaker 1: Augie Burtman, you know, all those guys are floating through. Uh,
- 11:12Speaker 1: it's a it's a good well. All the coaches come
- 11:14Speaker 1: in on the front side, so I guess it's a
- 11:17Speaker 1: I have to just go to the Marriotte Bar and
- 11:19Speaker 1: you see every college coach from a P four school
- 11:23Speaker 1: in the country, and then a bunch of G fives
- 11:25Speaker 1: because there's some power, you know, the coastal Carolina's but
- 11:29Speaker 1: they do that that first forty eight hours is uh,
- 11:36Speaker 1: I mean, it's a and there's a bunch of you know,
- 11:40Speaker 1: y'all know what they're doing. They're they're out there networking.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I mean, I know that gets a bad rap, but
- 11:46Speaker 1: they're they're they're getting what's going on in the game
- 11:50Speaker 1: and who could be moved. I know some a lot
- 11:52Speaker 1: of people have already moved by the CWS now. Also,
- 11:56Speaker 1: it just depends on how long a team is going
- 11:58Speaker 1: to play before maybe that coach could get poked or whatever.
- 12:00Speaker 1: But but those those first couple of days in Omaha,
- 12:07Speaker 1: I mean they're everywhere, and you know, agents are going through.
- 12:12Speaker 1: I know it's not it's not football by any stretch
- 12:15Speaker 1: as far as money, but you know it's crazy. You
- 12:17Speaker 1: got a bunch of you now have a bunch of
- 12:20Speaker 1: seven figure coaches in the league. I mean O'Connor's sitting
- 12:24Speaker 1: there at three million, and Mike's at what two? And
- 12:29Speaker 1: Corbin's been over to for a while, and Sully's I'm
- 12:33Speaker 1: sure two plus, and butch Thompson's too. Now that I
- 12:36Speaker 1: think of Jay Johnson's three, I would think three up
- 12:39Speaker 1: there with O'Connor. Van Horne just signed that new deal yesterday,
- 12:44Speaker 1: whether that take him through twenty thirty one, he's just
- 12:50Speaker 1: whooped two million, two and a half million plus. So
- 12:53Speaker 1: that's kind of crazy, isn't it. The sport that you know,
- 12:56Speaker 1: Bertman and Polk had to get going and there was
- 12:59Speaker 1: no money in it, and now even assistant coaches in
- 13:03Speaker 1: Oxford and Startbell. I mean Mangham and Parker, not Jake Mangham,
- 13:08Speaker 1: Joel the pitching coach for Mike Bianco Mangum and Parker
- 13:12Speaker 1: making four hundred five hundred K. So I can promise
- 13:17Speaker 1: you that's good money in start Bull and Oxford Misissippi. Yeah, Joe,
- 13:25Speaker 1: while you're not getting defensive coordinator money. I mean Coleman
- 13:30Speaker 1: huts was worth a million dollars a year?
- 13:31Speaker 2: What he I mean? Not justin Parker, Joel Mangham, I mean,
- 13:35Speaker 2: what are we doing? That's right?
- 13:37Speaker 1: You just dropped strapped two plus million on Colvin huts Er. Baby,
- 13:43Speaker 1: oh man, did I really live through that? Good Lord
- 13:48Speaker 1: of Mercy? It's like a oh, I know what it is.
- 13:53Speaker 1: I know exactly what it is. First of all, the
- 13:55Speaker 1: Dancing Rabbit golf text line is six oh one eight
- 13:59Speaker 1: eight five three seven seven six. You know what watching
- 14:03Speaker 1: Coleman Hustler is a defensive coordinator.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Is like he is like a bad drinking game.
- 14:06Speaker 4: It just won't end one.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Yeah, they gave him two bill Yeah because the third year,
- 14:16Speaker 1: no and change it changed. Auburn didn't, So whatever, all
- 14:20Speaker 1: I don't.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Know what Auburn's paying him.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Okay, let's say four or five hundred thousand to be
- 14:23Speaker 1: the He's either the edge rusher coach, which he didn't
- 14:26Speaker 1: believe in edge rushers at MSU. He's either the edge
- 14:28Speaker 1: rusher coach or the outside linebackers coach under DJ Durkin.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Hustler must have a mom or dad that are plugged
- 14:37Speaker 1: into collegiate athletics or something.
- 14:40Speaker 2: But I mean, this is what I think about.
- 14:46Speaker 3: You know, he is like a bad drinking game.
- 14:49Speaker 4: It just won't end, no doubt.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Let you go go with malpractice NFL. Chuck's pretty funny.
- 14:56Speaker 1: I don't know where that drop is, but I will
- 14:59Speaker 1: find it and it qualifies I will I will drop it.
- 15:06Speaker 2: That wasn't it?
- 15:07Speaker 1: But I like it, you know, I mean, so Chuck
- 15:12Speaker 1: who they don't have a clawback deal?
- 15:15Speaker 2: Pretty that?
- 15:16Speaker 1: Oh?
- 15:16Speaker 5: Here it is the football Mount practice.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Colvin Hutzler football Mount practice, Coleman Hutzler, football Mount practice,
- 15:23Speaker 1: Jerry Jones football Mount practice. Okay, trying to think who else?
- 15:28Speaker 1: Got anybody else in mind?
- 15:30Speaker 4: The football Mount practice?
- 15:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll refrain. Oh, you were going to say Zax Selman,
- 15:36Speaker 2: Well I wouldn't. I mean, Selman's definitely at the top
- 15:39Speaker 2: of the Cleveland Brown's ownership. Did you practice Saints draft
- 15:45Speaker 2: to you.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Oh, I forgot you and I were texting last I went.
- 15:48Speaker 1: I went to taste Italian Kitchen as they opened up
- 15:52Speaker 1: their new outdoor. It's not outdoors, it's outdoor, closed in,
- 15:56Speaker 1: temperature controlled, and I didn't see it because I was
- 16:00Speaker 1: boogie in yesterday being back in town and Jordan Tyson
- 16:06Speaker 1: is now out shock for They're saying two minds, but
- 16:11Speaker 1: it could. It's a hamstring. Crazy, it's a hamstring. No way,
- 16:17Speaker 1: he's injured. Unbelievable, he had no way.
- 16:20Speaker 2: So here.
- 16:21Speaker 1: This is Jeff Duncan on Twitter. Saints fans, your number
- 16:25Speaker 1: one pick in the NFL draft. Wide receiver out of
- 16:28Speaker 1: Arizona State. Mississippi State fans saw him last year. He
- 16:32Speaker 1: played with Sam Levitt, wide receiver out of Arizona State.
- 16:37Speaker 1: This is Jordan Tyson's medical history. November twenty twenty two.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Torn acl all right November twenty twenty four, broken left
- 16:48Speaker 1: clavicle February twenty twenty five, springed ankle, missed all spring
- 16:56Speaker 1: practice over a spring ele But dude, if those things,
- 17:00Speaker 1: I guess. October twenty twenty five. Strained right ham string
- 17:07Speaker 1: November twenty twenty five. Strained left ham string. Wow, August
- 17:12Speaker 1: twenty twenty six, strained right ham string, so he may
- 17:20Speaker 1: not miss any times he in rapaport set. Now look
- 17:23Speaker 1: in the NFL there and say again, I don't even
- 17:25Speaker 1: know what they do. I don't think we want to know.
- 17:29Speaker 1: We don't want to know how the sausage is made.
- 17:31Speaker 1: You just love the good looking uniforms on Sunday, getting
- 17:34Speaker 1: home from church, getting you a Tito's bloody Mary, putting
- 17:37Speaker 1: some deer sausage on the grill, and getting ready to
- 17:40Speaker 1: watch Saints, Cowboys, Giants, Mahomes and everybody else. But what
- 17:45Speaker 1: they do rehab wise, I don't even know. Because guys,
- 17:49Speaker 1: I mean guys can lose a limb, yeah, and be
- 17:52Speaker 1: back in two weeks. It's the NFL is like nothing
- 17:55Speaker 1: I've ever been. Soccer gets a hangnail, they're out, baseball sleep,
- 17:59Speaker 1: they get a crick in their got I can't go
- 18:01Speaker 1: coach a doubt. Football dude loses his leg from the
- 18:07Speaker 1: knee down he's playing two weeks later. I would agree
- 18:12Speaker 1: with you if they didn't have you know, a thousand
- 18:14Speaker 1: other wide receivers in the training room to work on
- 18:18Speaker 1: all of them hurt, all of our high picks. They're
- 18:22Speaker 1: all brittle. It's fragile. That's what happens. Would you say
- 18:30Speaker 1: that you're brittle and fragile the opposite way of that?
- 18:33Speaker 4: Oh?
- 18:33Speaker 1: Really he's soft over here?
- 18:35Speaker 2: Okay, wait, are you Clinton Strong or Clinton?
- 18:40Speaker 1: I'm trying to think of what I would how I
- 18:42Speaker 1: frame that up if anyone are you, uh, what's what's
- 18:46Speaker 1: the main street in Clinton?
- 18:49Speaker 2: I mean, are you Highway eighty Strong?
- 18:52Speaker 4: Oh?
- 18:52Speaker 1: Yeah, no doubt Okay, yeah, man, yeah, of course because like, okay,
- 18:56Speaker 1: so like forty years ago when Krishelle's was open and
- 18:59Speaker 1: he got tough on a Friday night after a couple
- 19:01Speaker 1: of guys that had some steaks and some ice cold
- 19:04Speaker 1: Budweisers I don't want, and they had tore and they
- 19:07Speaker 1: decided that it was time to to square up before
- 19:11Speaker 1: going home.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm opting out, Okay, I just wasn't sure.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Look you wanted to jump into that that's a little
- 19:16Speaker 1: different or that other bar that's two miles towards not
- 19:20Speaker 1: towards Clinton, that's on an eighty. I can't remember the
- 19:22Speaker 1: name of it. Do you remember the name of it.
- 19:27Speaker 1: There's been a couple down there, the Horseshoe that there
- 19:29Speaker 1: was one more. Okay, well, all right, but no I
- 19:33Speaker 1: would have never let a coach list me as an
- 19:36Speaker 1: angle spray to keep you out of that.
- 19:38Speaker 2: No way, you better make something.
- 19:39Speaker 4: To know better.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Okay, doing all right?
- 19:42Speaker 1: Hey, Hey, hey, hey, the show is driven by your
- 19:48Speaker 1: next GMC Sierra Truck or GMC u count Fowler Fowler
- 19:54Speaker 1: FOWLERGMC dot com. Wow, it looks so fresh. We are
- 20:39Speaker 1: the out of Bound Show ESPN one oh five nine
- 20:43Speaker 1: The Zone. Good morning to you, Welcome in the SEC
- 20:47Speaker 1: Insider hit. This morning is brought to you by Blue Cross,
- 20:50Speaker 1: Blue Shield of Mississippi.
- 20:52Speaker 2: It is good to be Blue.
- 20:54Speaker 1: We would like to hear from you on the Dancing
- 20:59Speaker 1: Rabbit Golf Town. We have two questions for you this morning,
- 21:03Speaker 1: and we would like to weigh you to weigh in
- 21:05Speaker 1: on your Old Miss rebels and your Mississippi State Bulldogs.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Question uh for Old Miss. You don't have to be
- 21:13Speaker 1: an Old Mis fan to answer this. Okay, Old missus
- 21:17Speaker 1: ranked top ten with Heisman buzz from Trinidad, and both
- 21:22Speaker 1: are deserved. However, when you look at this schedule for
- 21:31Speaker 1: Old Miss, it is brutal and it's a whole different ballgame.
- 21:37Speaker 1: When you're talking about playing LSU, Florida, Texas, Georgia and Oklahoma.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Probably went over that too fast, didn't I LSU Florida, Texas, Georgia, Oklahoma.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Can you get through that and get to the playoffs
- 21:52Speaker 1: or do that? Does that group knock you out of
- 21:54Speaker 1: the playoffs? Does shamblers carry them through? On the Mississippi
- 22:01Speaker 1: State side, Jeff Levy is seven and eighteen in two years.
- 22:09Speaker 1: You have to play Bama, LSU, Oklahoma, and Texas, and
- 22:14Speaker 1: both of you have gauntlets.
- 22:15Speaker 2: In fact, I think Ole.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Miss on the front end is yeeks and Mississippi State's
- 22:20Speaker 1: run of Alabama at LSU, Oklahoma at Texas. My question
- 22:27Speaker 1: is can Levy go zero to four in that stretch
- 22:32Speaker 1: and make it or get you to whatever the win
- 22:35Speaker 1: total is. If it's six, that's sad, But if it's
- 22:38Speaker 1: six or seven, then especially because I think the league's
- 22:41Speaker 1: going to be even more wided down than it was
- 22:43Speaker 1: last year. So I think there are so many winnable
- 22:46Speaker 1: games even for Mississippi State, Arkansas, South Carolina, Kentucky type,
- 22:51Speaker 1: Auburn type teams. I really do. I just don't. There's
- 22:56Speaker 1: just you watched it again. Vanderbilt went ten and two
- 23:00Speaker 1: last year. Nothing about them jumped off the screen at me.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Other than when Diego would make some really cool plays.
- 23:07Speaker 1: It didn't look like they were super athletics, super talented,
- 23:11Speaker 1: blah blah blah. Vanderbilt went ten and two last year.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Ole miss went eleven and one. So this league has
- 23:21Speaker 1: been watered down with the portal. We know that Georgia, Obama, LSU,
- 23:27Speaker 1: Texas don't have the same depth.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Right.
- 23:31Speaker 1: I don't know if Ohio State, because they're in a
- 23:32Speaker 1: different part of the country, is going to be able
- 23:34Speaker 1: to do that. They underachieved last year, so we'll see.
- 23:43Speaker 1: I guess they maybe too many pats on the back
- 23:47Speaker 1: coming out of their national championship year right two years ago,
- 23:52Speaker 1: just too much, You're awesome, we love you whatever.
- 23:55Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 23:57Speaker 1: We saw that with Mississippi State Baseball and Old miss
- 24:00Speaker 1: Baseball a few years ago. Right, But watching vander I
- 24:06Speaker 1: loved watching Diego Pavia. You know, I don't know if
- 24:08Speaker 1: anyone else other than a Vanderbilt show's talked more about him,
- 24:12Speaker 1: and I like him stylistically, He's fun to watch. He
- 24:15Speaker 1: put you know, he did things at bandy that have
- 24:19Speaker 1: never been done. The last two years, but they went
- 24:21Speaker 1: ten and two. Nothing about them was electric or special.
- 24:27Speaker 1: So back to Ole Miss and Mississippi State, you both
- 24:30Speaker 1: have gauntlets. I think the Old Miss thing, the Old
- 24:33Speaker 1: Miss schedule the first four games is way more challenging
- 24:39Speaker 1: than what you've had.
- 24:41Speaker 2: And you have a new head coach. Now you have.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Obviously top ten talent, okay, but you don't have a
- 24:53Speaker 1: top five head coach and a top ten offensive coordinator
- 24:57Speaker 1: anymore in Lane Kiffin. And that's not just plug and play.
- 25:01Speaker 1: I know we all think so when we lost Eli
- 25:04Speaker 1: or Dak or whatever was going on, I've heard it all,
- 25:07Speaker 1: but or you know when certain coaches have left. But
- 25:15Speaker 1: those are my questions. Is chamless enough to get Old
- 25:18Speaker 1: Miss to the College Football Playoff? Knowing that Ole Miss
- 25:23Speaker 1: plays LSU, Florida, Texas, Georgia and Oklahoma. That didn't mean
- 25:27Speaker 1: you can't lose some other games. I mean to other teams,
- 25:31Speaker 1: not all those games you're going to. But those teams
- 25:33Speaker 1: have talent. I know Florida's on you know they will
- 25:38Speaker 1: be on the up and up, but still they got dudes,
- 25:42Speaker 1: I promise. I mean, look at last year, Florida led
- 25:45Speaker 1: seventy percent of the game against Old Miss at home,
- 25:47Speaker 1: and they had a guy named Billy Gonzalez as their
- 25:50Speaker 1: interim coach. I mean, they had no idea what they
- 25:54Speaker 1: were doing on offense. So Ole Miss plays LSU Florida, Texas,
- 25:58Speaker 1: Georgia and Oklahoma. Is chamless enough to carry them through
- 26:06Speaker 1: the Golden Moon Casino tex line is six oh one
- 26:09Speaker 1: eight eight five three, seven, seven six. Your SEC insider
- 26:14Speaker 1: hit this morning is brought to you by Blue Cross
- 26:17Speaker 1: Blue Shield of Mississippi. It's good to be blue, the
- 26:20Speaker 1: official healthcare provider of the Out of Bound Show, Blue
- 26:23Speaker 1: Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi. So there's that question with
- 26:26Speaker 1: Ole Miss and a tougher non con game, right, I
- 26:29Speaker 1: mean last year Washington State at home was like playing
- 26:35Speaker 1: wes Monroe Tech. And then the question for Mississippi State,
- 26:40Speaker 1: Jeff Levy is seven and eighteen in two years. But
- 26:44Speaker 1: you played Bama lsu OU in Texas, ou is Oklahoma,
- 26:48Speaker 1: You played Bama lsu OU in Texas?
- 26:55Speaker 2: Can can you navigate that they're all in a row?
- 27:02Speaker 1: By the way, It's not like there's there's still some
- 27:05Speaker 1: land mines on each side. Again, Old Misses, at the end,
- 27:09Speaker 1: they would be considered one of the top ten top
- 27:12Speaker 1: teams you play on your.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Schedule this year.
- 27:16Speaker 1: You know, of course, for Old Miss you're one of
- 27:18Speaker 1: the bottom teams that they play this year. In fact,
- 27:22Speaker 1: if you wanted to go Old Misses, okay, so yeah,
- 27:32Speaker 1: you would be considered the easiest game conference game on
- 27:35Speaker 1: the schedule. Yeah is that fair?
- 27:38Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 27:39Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 27:39Speaker 1: And then and then what at Vanderbilt and Auburn at home?
- 27:47Speaker 2: Okay?
- 27:49Speaker 1: So, but but for for old you know, Mississippi State,
- 27:54Speaker 1: Ole Miss is one of the most difficult games you're playing. Yeah,
- 27:59Speaker 1: you can, are you? It's at Old Miss. You could
- 28:02Speaker 1: argue it's the most difficult. Well, yeah, at LSU at
- 28:06Speaker 1: ol Miss and at Texas, good God in Bama and
- 28:10Speaker 1: Oklahoma at home. Why have I not looked at it
- 28:14Speaker 1: like this? I keep thinking, there's just an unbelievable path
- 28:17Speaker 1: here for for Levy to with in a super water
- 28:20Speaker 1: down SEC to get to get I just don't think
- 28:23Speaker 1: it's herculean to get to six or seven wins. Those
- 28:26Speaker 1: first four are more than manageable. But then it gets gross.
- 28:32Speaker 1: For Missouri. You play Missouri, Alabama, at LSU, Oklahoma at Texas,
- 28:39Speaker 1: and if you can, I don't know, survive that whatever
- 28:42Speaker 1: that looks like you get three at home for Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Auburn,
- 28:47Speaker 1: Tennessee Tech.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Those are all winnable.
- 28:49Speaker 1: And then you go play a top ten team at
- 28:53Speaker 1: Old I mean a top A team with top ten talent.
- 28:56Speaker 1: I don't know where Old miss will be. They could
- 28:57Speaker 1: easily have three losses, if not four, going into that game.
- 29:01Speaker 1: They could have two or three going into that game. Hey,
- 29:07Speaker 1: Taste Italian Kitchen opened up their terraza and so I
- 29:12Speaker 1: say it's outdoor, but if you drive by the Renaissance,
- 29:17Speaker 1: you've seen Taste Italian Kitchen. It's over there on the
- 29:21Speaker 1: kind of I fifty five south side of the Renaissance development.
- 29:26Speaker 1: And we've talked about their super awesome menu from wood
- 29:30Speaker 1: fired pieces to pastas to terra masoud to boloneis and
- 29:34Speaker 1: so on. Well, they they have opened up this out
- 29:40Speaker 1: It's basically another restaurant that's connected that you walk through
- 29:44Speaker 1: this really cool corridor and it is a beautiful bar
- 29:48Speaker 1: and ceedy, you can have a rehearsal dinner. There's huge.
- 29:53Speaker 1: I was there yesterday. They just opened it yesterday. So
- 29:56Speaker 1: they've got so many these air conditioning misters in there.
- 30:00Speaker 1: But now I mean it's covered, it's got a roof
- 30:01Speaker 1: and everything, so it's gonna be amazing. And it is amazing,
- 30:07Speaker 1: and you can, I mean again, bar food, you can
- 30:10Speaker 1: get it out there. It's really nice. You're gonna want
- 30:13Speaker 1: to check it out. It'll lead the state in afarol,
- 30:15Speaker 1: Sprints's and you know, girls' night out, which then guys go,
- 30:21Speaker 1: I mean it's it's got the vibe. You don't feel
- 30:24Speaker 1: like you're in Jackson, Mississippi. It you look out, you're
- 30:27Speaker 1: like where you know. It's it's got a it's got
- 30:30Speaker 1: a Miami type feel. It's the lighting is amazing, that
- 30:34Speaker 1: the core. You need to check it out. Chiraza and
- 30:40Speaker 1: it's cool, very very cool. So we've told you about
- 30:44Speaker 1: all the shrimp, shrimp, scampy and fried Calamario. It Taste
- 30:47Speaker 1: Italian Kitchen.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Now their new.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Indoor outdoor space that's totally covered and has all these
- 30:56Speaker 1: cool things is open. It's a bar and restaurant basically
- 31:00Speaker 1: another one attached to Taste Italian Kitchen. Love that, Yeah, Tarraza,
- 31:07Speaker 1: that's pretty cool. I like that, I mean Taraza. Sorry, yeah,
- 31:11Speaker 1: my bad.
- 31:12Speaker 2: All right, So let's go to the do we have
- 31:15Speaker 2: any MVPs?
- 31:16Speaker 1: This morning. Let's do an out of bounds roll call.
- 31:18Speaker 1: How are you listening? Where are you listening from? What
- 31:21Speaker 1: do you think about my questions? Here we go. Mac
- 31:23Speaker 1: is weighing in from I think Seagrove, somewhere around there.
- 31:28Speaker 1: On thirty eight and uh, we shipped Mac a couple
- 31:32Speaker 1: of Whiskey sixty one hats, no, a Whiskey sixty one hat,
- 31:36Speaker 1: a Whiskey sixty one pullover, and a Whiskey sixty one
- 31:43Speaker 1: T shirt. Mac was kind enough to send us something awesome,
- 31:47Speaker 1: So very kind of him. Mac says, ole, miss is
- 31:51Speaker 1: eight and four, ten and two, So I'll go with
- 31:53Speaker 1: nine and three.
- 31:54Speaker 2: I think that's about right.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Yeah, you have a much much much better chance to
- 32:00Speaker 1: go eight and four nine and three way way way
- 32:03Speaker 1: better odds percentage than ten and two. I just that
- 32:07Speaker 1: with this schedule, I don't see it, new coach, this schedule,
- 32:12Speaker 1: having to play LSU, Florida, Texas, Georgia, and Oklahoma, and
- 32:16Speaker 1: there's a couple there's some other teams that could give
- 32:18Speaker 1: you some problems. I do not see ten and two
- 32:22Speaker 1: Mississippi State. For whatever reason, I thought their schedule was manageable.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Maybe I was comparing it to the last two years
- 32:28Speaker 1: where they got absolutely you know what. But then Jackson
- 32:33Speaker 1: I started looking at it piece by piece, and I'm
- 32:36Speaker 1: sitting here going, what the hell just happened?
- 32:38Speaker 2: Right?
- 32:39Speaker 1: Those first four is where Levy makes Hay and then
- 32:43Speaker 1: those three that I mentioned on the back end before
- 32:45Speaker 1: Ole miss at Home in November, which you get some
- 32:48Speaker 1: great November games. I don't know how many of you
- 32:50Speaker 1: care if you're losing, but if you're still doing some
- 32:53Speaker 1: good things, which is very possible. In the Superwater down
- 32:56Speaker 1: sec you got Vanderbilt at home, super winnable for leve All,
- 33:01Speaker 1: Burn at home, super winnable for Levy, and then Tennessee Tech.
- 33:05Speaker 1: So I mean that's you could get some feel good
- 33:07Speaker 1: mojo there at the end. But the deal will be
- 33:09Speaker 1: your first four live and Roe Dub Tom Lougan Bill
- 33:12Speaker 1: will be called in that game, which is cool. Then
- 33:15Speaker 1: you go at Minnesota. You're better than them, Okay, you're
- 33:19Speaker 1: you're thirty, You're thirty second in composite Ole Missus top ten,
- 33:23Speaker 1: but you're now around thirty second in composite nil high
- 33:27Speaker 1: school recruiting. Minnesota's forty ninth. All right, and so then
- 33:33Speaker 1: you go to South Carolina they're around twentieth. Composite recruiting
- 33:38Speaker 1: in il Okay, you're thirty second. Then you come home
- 33:43Speaker 1: and Missouri's there, and they're in the they're twenty to
- 33:47Speaker 1: twenty five. So these again, these are not like jump
- 33:49Speaker 1: off the page, Holy smokes.
- 33:52Speaker 2: Good teams.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Sure, Minnesota, South Carolina, Missouri, those are you know, got
- 33:58Speaker 1: some good you know, they've got some good players in
- 34:00Speaker 1: some spots. But there you've spent thirty million. You know,
- 34:03Speaker 1: I've been saying this for months. People are like, Missippi
- 34:06Speaker 1: State spent like twelve bucks on their Now Andy Staples
- 34:09Speaker 1: comes out and goes Mississippi State spent thirty million on
- 34:12Speaker 1: their roster. Yes, Andy, we've been talking about that since February. Yes,
- 34:16Speaker 1: Mississippi State spent thirty and could have spent five more million,
- 34:20Speaker 1: or seven more million, or ten more million. But yes,
- 34:23Speaker 1: that is a more than competitive fifteen million last year
- 34:26Speaker 1: to go five and seven. Didn't spend all your money
- 34:30Speaker 1: the year before because Somemon and Levy weren't prepared to
- 34:34Speaker 1: go tackle the porter. They went and chased a high
- 34:36Speaker 1: school class. I think that could be, you know, the
- 34:38Speaker 1: one thing that gets you at the end of the day.
- 34:41Speaker 1: But Levy's got a chance. The front in the back
- 34:44Speaker 1: of the schedule has super winnable games that middle part
- 34:52Speaker 1: and I'm and I'm not giving ole Miss a pass either.
- 34:55Speaker 1: It's a brutal, brutal so they're going to beat to
- 34:57Speaker 1: Helen back too. I mean, if you want to talk
- 35:01Speaker 1: physicality index, how are you going to get through this?
- 35:06Speaker 1: You don't, I don't know. I mean, I hope your
- 35:11Speaker 1: strength and conditioning has been incredible since January fifth, Just unbelievable.
- 35:17Speaker 2: I know you're still lifting.
- 35:18Speaker 1: You scale it down a little bit during because you're
- 35:21Speaker 1: practicing five or six days a week, right, but I
- 35:24Speaker 1: mean you were lifting five days a week since January
- 35:26Speaker 1: fifth until August whatever second. So I mean that is unbelievable.
- 35:32Speaker 1: How many workouts. And so my question is, you know,
- 35:35Speaker 1: we know Savage, for example, Savage at LSU's awesome Golding
- 35:39Speaker 1: had to go out and hire a new strength and
- 35:43Speaker 1: conditioning coordinator. I think there's a lot of question Mars
- 35:46Speaker 1: about how good shod is for Levy. He was the
- 35:51Speaker 1: assistant at Oregon. He grew up with Levy. They went
- 35:54Speaker 1: to the same high school together. And you know, I
- 35:58Speaker 1: don't know. I mean, I'm not saying you, yeah, I
- 36:03Speaker 1: don't know, but do I think you're going to look
- 36:07Speaker 1: more like an SEC team. Absolutely, And of course you've
- 36:10Speaker 1: spent a fortune on the program, so you should. But
- 36:14Speaker 1: I think there is something I know we brush it off.
- 36:17Speaker 1: I mean, you had seven months in the weight room.
- 36:25Speaker 1: I just had to count that on my fingers because
- 36:27Speaker 1: it's early. Yeah, and I haven't had enough coffee. You've
- 36:32Speaker 1: had seven months in the weight room and out on
- 36:34Speaker 1: the field for you know, speed agility. I mean, so
- 36:37Speaker 1: you're doing but I mean you're pumping as much irony,
- 36:39Speaker 1: you're hopefully you're working the right muscle, the right things,
- 36:42Speaker 1: the right yeah, all of that, and then you're out
- 36:45Speaker 1: doing speed agility and da da da da. So my
- 36:48Speaker 1: question is, you know, here you are, it's August eighteenth.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Have you done what you're supposed to do since January fifth?
- 36:58Speaker 1: I mean high school coaches are asking the same thing,
- 37:01Speaker 1: so our NFL I get it.
- 37:03Speaker 2: Everybody.
- 37:04Speaker 1: You know, if you weren't working out five days a week,
- 37:06Speaker 1: you're definitely behind in the weight room, pumping iron, doing
- 37:10Speaker 1: all these things plus plus. And I mean offensive linemen,
- 37:13Speaker 1: defensive linemen are doing speed and agility stuff too. I
- 37:16Speaker 1: mean I know it's short burst, but it's super important
- 37:19Speaker 1: on third and two.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Is it not.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Right or whether somebody's pulling and can.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Get there.
- 37:26Speaker 1: With that strong safety coming off the edge. You know,
- 37:31Speaker 1: can your guy get there? Save the play boom? You
- 37:34Speaker 1: connect little drag route with the tight end coming across
- 37:38Speaker 1: the middle. Everything's on the line. Everybody in the stadium
- 37:43Speaker 1: is on the edge of their seat. You got to
- 37:44Speaker 1: complete the pass to continue the drive. Does he get
- 37:49Speaker 1: there or does he whiff in? Your quarterback gets smoked,
- 37:54Speaker 1: and then you turn the ball over on downs.
- 37:58Speaker 2: So it feels like you're you're competently over of the
- 38:05Speaker 2: season win total.
- 38:07Speaker 1: I'm sorry, did you tell me it was four and
- 38:08Speaker 1: a half or three and a half for the Mississippi
- 38:10Speaker 1: State Bulldogs four and a half? I'm going over if
- 38:15Speaker 1: you can't go over with this schedule and it's still brutal,
- 38:18Speaker 1: But there are there are The first four games are
- 38:22Speaker 1: all winnable. So can you go two and two or
- 38:23Speaker 1: three and one? You got those three on the back side.
- 38:26Speaker 1: I keep talking about Vanderbilt at home, all Burn at home,
- 38:30Speaker 1: Tennessee Tech at home. Got to win two of three,
- 38:33Speaker 1: could win three of three. Then where do you get it.
- 38:38Speaker 1: Then you have teams with that are really talented that
- 38:41Speaker 1: you're playing like Ole Miss, Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, and Texas.
- 38:49Speaker 1: And my question with the big Dogs is can you
- 38:53Speaker 1: get one one? Mississippi State? You play Alabama at home
- 38:58Speaker 1: at LSU, you're not winning that game. Game Oklahoma at
- 39:01Speaker 1: home should be what Oklahoma sixty percent forty or would
- 39:06Speaker 1: you go Oklahoma seventy?
- 39:07Speaker 2: You thirty? You tell me? All right?
- 39:10Speaker 1: At Texas ninety ten, ninety percent chance Texas wins?
- 39:14Speaker 5: Fair?
- 39:14Speaker 2: Okay?
- 39:15Speaker 1: And then at Old Miss? What do you got Old
- 39:19Speaker 1: Miss seventy percent? Eighty percent chance? Dub at home?
- 39:25Speaker 2: Is that fair? I mean, I'm just I'm just going
- 39:27Speaker 2: through the power.
- 39:28Speaker 1: The the the best most talented teams that you're playing.
- 39:33Speaker 1: The best opportunity is Oklahoma at home. Yes, no, bye.
- 39:39Speaker 1: I mean I'm talking big, big percentage, not even talking
- 39:44Speaker 1: about the spread. I'm talking about percentage to win the
- 39:47Speaker 1: game against venables in Oklahoma. That's that's Levy's sweet spot.
- 39:52Speaker 1: That's that's the opportunity to get because no doubt you
- 39:57Speaker 1: should be in the game. You know you have you
- 39:59Speaker 1: should have chance Missouri at home all but at home?
- 40:01Speaker 1: Banderbilt at home. Okay, Again, Levy pulls a good home
- 40:06Speaker 1: for Golden and Levy to have brutal schedules. Ah, Levy
- 40:12Speaker 1: pulls some really nice home SEC games Missouri, Vanderbilt, and Auburn.
- 40:19Speaker 2: No, there's nothing special about any of them.
- 40:24Speaker 1: You think maybe the SEC office feel bad that there
- 40:27Speaker 1: has been one. Evidently not, because Mississippi State pulled, along
- 40:31Speaker 1: with one or two other teams, the most brutal schedule
- 40:35Speaker 1: you could the last two years and they still get
- 40:38Speaker 1: and maybe this is just part of it.
- 40:40Speaker 2: When you go to nine Okay, well, I mean they.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Needed they should have given them Arkansas in Kentucky for
- 40:46Speaker 1: what they did to them the last two years. I
- 40:48Speaker 1: just stood on the table in Birmingham. Man, I'm not kidding,
- 40:51Speaker 1: but that's not the mentality. And so show to answer
- 40:56Speaker 1: your question. Alabama at least at home at LSU, Oklahoma
- 41:09Speaker 1: at home at Texas at Ole miss those are your
- 41:13Speaker 1: brutal games, your best at your best shot by far
- 41:17Speaker 1: and away is Oklahoma.
- 41:23Speaker 2: They're good, They're not.
- 41:26Speaker 1: You're right. I mean, let me go back to my
- 41:28Speaker 1: numbers from from Diamond Day. Oklahoma was number six in
- 41:33Speaker 1: defensive scoring efficiency and number sixty six an offensive scoring efficiency,
- 41:37Speaker 1: Yet they this is this is the game today. I
- 41:39Speaker 1: want you to think about this, and yet they won
- 41:41Speaker 1: the and yet they made it. They did not look
- 41:44Speaker 1: like a college football playoff team, and yet they went
- 41:47Speaker 1: to the college football Playoff. Now they hosted a game
- 41:49Speaker 1: against an Alabama team that was totally flawed and got embarrassed,
- 41:53Speaker 1: but they made it so give Vinable. You know, do
- 41:56Speaker 1: I think Venables is any kind of like long term answer?
- 41:59Speaker 1: Absolutely not. I think he's he's a Will muss Champ.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Other defensive coaches who can't get the offensive side of
- 42:07Speaker 1: the ball right, and we just we see that well
- 42:13Speaker 1: to date Jeff Levy, who's an offensive guy, hasn't gotten
- 42:16Speaker 1: the defensive side of the ball right. But the one
- 42:18Speaker 1: thing Will must Champ went eleven and two one year
- 42:21Speaker 1: at Florida with like the number two defense in scoring efficiency,
- 42:24Speaker 1: and offensively they were they would score like thirteen points
- 42:28Speaker 1: and win thirteen to six because I ran into them
- 42:32Speaker 1: down in New Orleans when he and I were down there,
- 42:35Speaker 1: when Charlie Strong and Louisville and I think Teddy Bridgewater
- 42:38Speaker 1: played Will must Champ in Florida and the Sugar Bowl, yes,
- 42:41Speaker 1: which neither one of those teams were that good and
- 42:43Speaker 1: yet they were in the Sugar Bowl. You know, different,
- 42:47Speaker 1: different day the last fifteen to twenty years with that,
- 42:50Speaker 1: with that Bowl game, we're live in the Bank Plus
