- 0:18Speaker 1: Welcome into Monday as we get ready for our devotion
- 0:21Speaker 1: time here on our This is the Life podcast. Hope
- 0:23Speaker 1: you had a great weekend and a great day of
- 0:26Speaker 1: worship yesterday. The Lord takes us this morning to Matthew
- 0:29Speaker 1: chapter 6 and particularly in verse number 34. And he says,
- 0:35Speaker 1: take therefore no thought for the morrow, for the morrow
- 0:39Speaker 1: shall take thought of the things of itself. And as
- 0:45Speaker 1: I've looked at that and kind of prayed before the
- 0:47Speaker 1: Lord on how to do the devotions this upcoming week,
- 0:52Speaker 1: I come to realize that there are some burdens that
- 0:54Speaker 1: God never intended for us to carry. I thought a
- 0:57Speaker 1: lot about that over the weekend. There are burdens that
- 1:02Speaker 1: God never intended for us to carry. Yet somehow, somehow,
- 1:09Speaker 1: we always seem to pick them up, place them on
- 1:12Speaker 1: our shoulders, and then we wonder why we feel so
- 1:15Speaker 1: tired sometimes. So throughout this week, the Lord willing, we're
- 1:21Speaker 1: going to look at things God never meant for us
- 1:24Speaker 1: to carry. And each day, what we'll do is we'll
- 1:28Speaker 1: identify one of those unnecessary burdens that And learn how
- 1:33Speaker 1: to place them back into the hands of the only
- 1:36Speaker 1: one who was always meant to carry them. And that
- 1:40Speaker 1: is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. One of the
- 1:43Speaker 1: heaviest that we'll look at this morning is the weight
- 1:46Speaker 1: of tomorrow. Let me explain what I mean by that
- 1:50Speaker 1: as I really thought about that this weekend. Tomorrow is
- 1:53Speaker 1: filled with things that we can't see yet. We don't
- 1:57Speaker 1: know what conversations that are going to take place this week.
- 2:00Speaker 1: We don't know what decisions that we're going to have
- 2:03Speaker 1: to make. We don't know what kind of unexpected situations
- 2:06Speaker 1: may arise. And because we don't know, what happens is
- 2:11Speaker 1: our minds often begin to fill in the blanks. We
- 2:14Speaker 1: call them those what if moments that we have all
- 2:17Speaker 1: throughout the day of what may happen tomorrow. How many
- 2:21Speaker 1: of you find this morning, find yourself imagining what could
- 2:25Speaker 1: go wrong? You prepare yourself for problems that may never happen.
- 2:31Speaker 1: And before long, what you're doing, you're carrying the weight
- 2:33Speaker 1: of a day that hasn't even started yet. See, Jesus
- 2:37Speaker 1: wasn't telling us that we shouldn't have no plans for
- 2:41Speaker 1: the future. There is wisdom in preparation. He teaches that.
- 2:46Speaker 1: But planning for tomorrow and worrying about tomorrow is two
- 2:50Speaker 1: entirely different things. Planning asks the question, what can I
- 2:55Speaker 1: wisely do today? While worrying asks something like, How can
- 3:00Speaker 1: I control everything that might happen tomorrow? You see the difference? See,
- 3:05Speaker 1: the truth is that God has not given us our
- 3:08Speaker 1: daily bread for tomorrow's burdens because tomorrow hasn't come yet.
- 3:13Speaker 1: He gives us enough grace for this day, this moment,
- 3:17Speaker 1: and this present responsibility. And how we handle those sets
- 3:21Speaker 1: up tomorrow. When tomorrow arrives, God will already be there.
- 3:26Speaker 1: But what we do with tomorrow really depends on On
- 3:29Speaker 1: how effectively we do today. God will not be surprised
- 3:36Speaker 1: by what happens tomorrow. He will not suddenly discover something
- 3:40Speaker 1: he failed to prepare for. See whatever tomorrow brings. His
- 3:44Speaker 1: presence will be waiting for us when we get there.
- 3:47Speaker 1: That's why it's important to leave tomorrow in God's hands.
- 3:52Speaker 1: And just take care of what he has prepared for
- 3:54Speaker 1: us today. Some of us may grow weary early today.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Not because of what happened yesterday and not because of
- 4:02Speaker 1: what's happening right now. You'll grow weary because you are
- 4:06Speaker 1: mentally and emotionally living several days ahead. And you are
- 4:11Speaker 1: trying to answer questions God hadn't even asked yet. And
- 4:15Speaker 1: we are attempting sometimes to solve problems that don't even exist.
- 4:21Speaker 1: So perhaps, just perhaps, we need to hear the Lord
- 4:25Speaker 1: saying this morning, you don't have to carry Yes, tomorrow, today.
- 4:32Speaker 1: I've got that handled. Do what this day requires. Pray
- 4:37Speaker 1: about what concerns you today. Make the preparations you can make,
- 4:42Speaker 1: but then place tomorrow into the hands of the only
- 4:45Speaker 1: one who is already holding it to begin with. Does
- 4:49Speaker 1: that make sense to you this morning? I sure pray
- 4:51Speaker 1: it does. See, you were never meant to carry an
- 4:54Speaker 1: entire lifetime all at once. Life is given one day
- 4:58Speaker 1: at a time for a reason. And God's grace is
- 5:01Speaker 1: given the same way. So don't let the imagined weight
- 5:05Speaker 1: of tomorrow keep you from receiving the strength, peace, and
- 5:09Speaker 1: goodness that God has provided for you today. So today,
- 5:16Speaker 1: you be safe, you be strong, and you be blessed.
- 5:21Speaker 1: And don't carry the weight of a day that hasn't
- 5:24Speaker 1: even happened yet. Leave it in the hands of God.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Lord's will, we will see you back here again tomorrow.
- 5:34Speaker 1: And until then, I hope you have a great day.
- 5:37Speaker 1: And I really hope you join us all week for
- 5:39Speaker 1: this series.
