- 0:00Psalm 22 first let's pray, dear Lord, please be with us as we
- 0:05read through this Psalm and open our hearts and our minds to what
- 0:10you have to say. We ask this in Jesus name.
- 0:14This Psalm 22 is in my opinion just not just but is a
- 0:20revelation of Jesus. And this was in the BC time
- 0:24frame, and so this was many, many years before Jesus was here
- 0:29on earth. But I will show you all the
- 0:32scripture where it's repeatedly expressing things that were
- 0:39almost prophecy, I guess, about Jesus, which is really
- 0:43interesting. So let's get started.
- 0:46As I mentioned before, I will let you know what version of God
- 0:53our Lord is being used. I was going back to the Hebrew.
- 0:56Sometimes there will be ale, which is El, and sometimes it's
- 1:02Elohim, which is a plural for God, the Holy Trinity.
- 1:07And then sometimes it is the name of God, which is YHWH.
- 1:15And so that that people will say Yahweh.
- 1:19Or if it's more like a sound that goes along with those
- 1:22letters, more like a breath. Anyway, let's get started.
- 1:27So at the very beginning, verse 1 L Alright, let's see.
- 1:32LL Why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving
- 1:38me, so far from my cries of anguish?
- 1:42So this is really significant because when Jesus was on the
- 1:48cross, he repeated these words that David spoke so many years
- 1:54prior. I want to go back to say about
- 1:57when the Psalms of David, I think they were when they were
- 2:00written. So the Psalms were written
- 2:04around 1014 to 430 BC, so potentially thousands of years
- 2:14before 1000 or more years before Christ was even born.
- 2:19And David was expressing this and he was saying my God, my
- 2:22God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving
- 2:26me, so far from my cries of anguish when Jesus was on the
- 2:31cross? It says in Matthew chapter 27
- 2:35verse 46, about 3:00 in the afternoon, Jesus cried out in a
- 2:40loud voice, Eli, Eli Lemay Sabachthani, which means my God,
- 2:47my God, why have you forsaken me?
- 2:51I'll read a little bit more about what it says here.
- 2:53This is about the death of Jesus.
- 2:56When when some of those standing there heard this, they said,
- 2:59he's calling on Elijah. Immediately one of them got a
- 3:04sponge and they filled it. He filled it with wine vinegar
- 3:07and put it on a staff and offered it to Jesus to drink.
- 3:11The rest said, now leave him alone, let's see if Elijah comes
- 3:15to save him. And when Jesus had cried out
- 3:18again in a loud voice, he gave up its spirit.
- 3:23At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from
- 3:26the top to the bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split
- 3:31and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people
- 3:36who had died were raised to life.
- 3:39They came out of the tombs after Jesus resurrection and went into
- 3:45the holy city and appeared to many people.
- 3:50When the centurion and those with him were guarding who were
- 3:54guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had
- 3:58happened, they were terrified and exclaimed surely he was the
- 4:04Son of God. So I'm going to end there.
- 4:09But let's see there's also in I don't know if I can get to these
- 4:16they're not showing up right now at my internet's decided that
- 4:20was going to wasn't going to work right now.
- 4:22So we'll hold off on going into something I don't already have
- 4:26saved. But let's go back to verse 2 in
- 4:30Psalm 22. He said David said, my God, I
- 4:34cry out day by day, but you do not answer by night.
- 4:38But I find no rest. Now when he refers to God in
- 4:42this sentence, it's Elohim, the plurality of like the Trinity,
- 4:48the first verse, it was the singular form LEL.
- 4:53He said just like what was repeated, what Jesus repeated on
- 4:57the cross, but he's but David said, my God Elohim, I cry out
- 5:03day by day, but you do not answer night by night.
- 5:06But I did, but I find no rest yet.
- 5:09You are enthroned as the Holy 1. You are the one Israel praises.
- 5:15In you our ancestors put their trust, they trusted and you
- 5:19delivered them to you. They cried and were saved in you
- 5:24they trusted and were not put to shame.
- 5:28Now here's something really interesting too.
- 5:30This next verse. But I am a worm and not a man
- 5:35scorned by everyone, despised by the people.
- 5:39I'm just going to stop right there because this was.
- 5:44I heard this from someone else first, but I decided I needed to
- 5:47look it up. Now when the actual word in
- 5:51Hebrew for the worm that's used here is the Tola worm, and it's
- 5:56a very different, you know, you, you need to know about the Tola
- 6:02worm because there is symbolism between that worm and Jesus,
- 6:08because you would think, why would Jesus be called a worm?
- 6:11But when you hear about what the Tola worm is, it makes all the
- 6:16sense. It's actually a I'll, I'll read
- 6:19it to you. So the Tola worm, tola F in
- 6:23Hebrew is a Crimson insect frequently referenced in
- 6:28Christian theology as a powerful symbolic parallel to the
- 6:32sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The connection centers around
- 6:37Psalm 22, verse six that we just read when where David
- 6:42prophecies. I am a worm and not a man, which
- 6:48is a verse Jesus cried out while on the cross.
- 6:51Theology links this to the tola insect due to its unique life
- 6:59cycle, the attachment when it. When it is time to reproduce,
- 7:05the female Tola worm attaches herself firmly to the wood of a
- 7:10tree or a post, creating a hard Crimson shell sacrifice.
- 7:17The mother gives her life for her offspring.
- 7:22As the baby worms hatch, they feed on her body for nourishment
- 7:27and are permanently stained with her bright red blood.
- 7:32Now if you don't see the symbolism of that, how many
- 7:34times did Jesus say, you know, symbolically like to take and
- 7:40eat this bread at the Last Supper and to do this in
- 7:45remembrance of him and it's and there's many times where he
- 7:49compares himself to the bread of life and that you must eat the
- 7:53bread of life. We must feed on the word of
- 7:57Jesus, the word of Scripture, what he said God's word and it's
- 8:01also by his blood. Then we that's how we are saved,
- 8:09as Hebrews says. There is in the book of Hebrews
- 8:12that says without the shedding of blood, there is no
- 8:15forgiveness of sins. So that's why Jesus's blood had
- 8:19to be shed on the cross. And just like this worm, they
- 8:24are stained with her blood. And that's so similar to the the
- 8:28protection that the blood of Jesus gives to all those who are
- 8:32believers in him. And think about the Passover
- 8:36lamb in the book of Exodus, where the blood of the lamb
- 8:42protected all the Israelites, just like the blood of the lamb,
- 8:47the symbolic lamb from the Book of Revelation, who is Jesus
- 8:52protects all of those who believe in him.
- 8:55So there is quite a bit of symbology here that if you don't
- 8:58look this up, it you completely Passover and you think like, why
- 9:03would this be Jesus? You know, why would Jesus be
- 9:07called a worm? So here's more transformation
- 9:11after three days, three days, OK, isn't that interesting?
- 9:15Like Jesus died on the cross and three days later he resurrects.
- 9:19So this is about the worm, though.
- 9:21After three days, the dead mother's worm's body loses its
- 9:26Crimson pigment and turns into a Snow White waxy substance that
- 9:34flakes off like wool. Believers draw a spiritual
- 9:40parallel between this process and the crucifixion of Jesus the
- 9:46cross. The mother worm attaches herself
- 9:49to the wood just as Jesus was nailed to the wooden cross.
- 9:53Blood for the children. The mother sheds her blood to
- 9:57protect and feed her young just as Jesus shed his blood on the
- 10:02cross to offer humanity salvation cleansed by sacrifice.
- 10:08The worms transition from scarlet to white mirrors Isaiah
- 10:14chapter one, verse 18, which states though your sins are like
- 10:18scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.
- 10:23So isn't that amazing when you get into it a little bit deeper
- 10:27and to understand, I mean, especially if you think about it
- 10:30like it says, but I am a worm and not a man.
- 10:34Why would David say that about himself?
- 10:36David was a man. So obviously he was not talking
- 10:39about himself. He was talking about someone
- 10:41else and it was prophetic. So we'll continue in verse 7.
- 10:46All who see me will all who see me mock me.
- 10:52They hurl insults, shaking their heads.
- 10:57Well, this is another reference to Jesus because in Mark chapter
- 11:0410 verse 34 it well, actually I'll read 33 too.
- 11:09So you get it in the full sentence.
- 11:12We are going up to Jerusalem, he said.
- 11:16And this, this is Jesus talking, he said.
- 11:20We are going up to Jerusalem, he said.
- 11:23And the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief
- 11:27priest and the teachers of the law.
- 11:30They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the
- 11:34Gentiles, who will mock him and spit on him, flog him and kill
- 11:41him. Three days later he will rise.
- 11:44So Jesus also was predicting his death.
- 11:47This was the third time that he predicted his death and he was
- 11:51saying they would mock him. And also let's see if there's
- 11:56other, there is Luke 18 verse 32 where it says he will be
- 12:03delivered over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him
- 12:08and spit on him. They will flog him and kill him.
- 12:11So this what David said, all who see me mock me.
- 12:16This was again talking about Jesus.
- 12:19They hurl insults, shaking their heads.
- 12:22Then it says he trusts in the Lord.
- 12:25And that's the individual name when it says L and then it says
- 12:32Yahweh. So the singular version, but
- 12:34Yahweh. And I think after now after
- 12:40reading this, because I just put a note, I want to go back to
- 12:44that because I probably, I don't know if I have Internet right
- 12:48now, but this is, let's see, Psalm 22.
- 12:55I did write down L, and I always say L because it's spelled El.
- 13:01But on verse eight, yeah, verse 8, this is what it says in the
- 13:11NIV version. He trusts in the Lord.
- 13:14They say let the Lord rescue him, let him deliver him, since
- 13:19he delights in him. So this is interesting because
- 13:32the Lord, OK, so in the Hebrew word it talks about L or L, the
- 13:40singular form of God, and then it's Jehovah or Yahweh.
- 13:46So it's the singular form of God where it says he trusts in the
- 13:53Lord, they say, so this is like God the Father.
- 13:58And then this is also what happened to Jesus on the cross.
- 14:03Once again in let's see, in Matthew 27 verse 43, this is
- 14:18talking about when Jesus was on the cross.
- 14:19It says he trusts in God, let God rescue him now if he wants
- 14:25him, for he said, I am the Son of God.
- 14:29So again, this is exactly what David was saying.
- 14:32He trusts in the Lord. They say let the Lord rescue
- 14:36him. This is exactly what Matthew
- 14:382743 says. Let him deliver him since he
- 14:47delights in him. Now I'm going back to what David
- 14:51said, Psalm 22 verse 9. Yet you brought me out of the
- 14:55womb. You made me trust in you.
- 14:58Even at my mother's breast from birth I was cast on you.
- 15:03From my mother's womb You have been my God.
- 15:07And that's the singular form of L I'll so I'll read what the
- 15:14study Bible says about that, that verse.
- 15:16What kind of trust in God could an infant have?
- 15:19David's parents committed him to God through birth.
- 15:22As a youngster, he likely heard stories of Israel's history,
- 15:26including the stories of faith. He was speaking here of his
- 15:29consistent relationship with God.
- 15:32He had never served any other God because of ail being the
- 15:39reference to God in the Psalm 22.
- 15:45I do wonder if this is also, you know, I was cast on you talking
- 15:50about God. It seems more of a reference to
- 15:53Jesus from my reading. And you know, Jesus was
- 15:59conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, but he
- 16:05came from God. He was like, it was like he was
- 16:07cast from God, like God sent him and from the Father.
- 16:11So it it again just seems like this is a reference to Jesus in
- 16:18verse 11 of Psalm 22. Do not be far from me, for
- 16:23trouble is near and there is no one to help.
- 16:27Many bulls surround me, strong bulls of bastion and circle me.
- 16:32Roaring lions that tear their prey open their mouths wide
- 16:36against me. Now this I just see this as evil
- 16:41like all of the thing. You know, a lot of the evil
- 16:44nations were described as bulls. Well, a lot of the false gods
- 16:50were are described as bulls and then lions were often described
- 16:56of some of the some of the evil nations around.
- 17:00But yet at the same time, Jesus was the lion of Judah.
- 17:04So the lions were kind of, I guess, maybe just different
- 17:08kingdoms because they were just harsh and strong.
- 17:12And and so again, this is almost like Jesus on the cross, like
- 17:17he's being surrounded by all of the evil and and he's calling on
- 17:22God. And then David says I am poured
- 17:27out like water and all my bones are out of joint.
- 17:32My hurt, my heart has turned to wax.
- 17:36It has melted within me. This was very interesting too
- 17:42because this is I am poured out like water and all my bones are
- 17:48out of joint. Listen to what John chapter 1934
- 17:53says instead. One of the soldiers pierced
- 17:57Jesus's side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood
- 18:03and water. And then it goes on to say the
- 18:08the man who saw it has given his testimony and his testimony is
- 18:11true. He knows that he tells the truth
- 18:14and he testifies so that you also may believe these things
- 18:19happened so that the Scripture, the Lord, so that the Scripture
- 18:25would be fulfilled. Not one of his bones will be
- 18:28broken and another scripture says they will look on the 1:00
- 18:33they have pierced. So I again think this is a
- 18:37reference to Jesus. In the sight of Jesus I am
- 18:40poured out like water. Then in verse 15 David says my
- 18:45mouth is dried up like a pot Shard and my tongue sticks to
- 18:51the roof of my mouth. You lay me in the dust of death.
- 18:57Well, this is another thing that happened on the cross.
- 19:02Jesus was given something to drink and it said this was like
- 19:07in his last breaths. Immediately one of them ran.
- 19:12This is Matthew 27, verse 48. Immediately one of them ran and
- 19:17got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar,
- 19:20put it on a staff and offered it to Jesus to drink.
- 19:27Dogs. Going back to what David said in
- 19:29Psalm 22 verse 16. Dogs surround me.
- 19:33A pack of villains encircles me. They Pierce my hands and my
- 19:38feet. So when did David's hands and
- 19:41feet get pierced? But we know that Jesus is dead.
- 19:46So again, this is this is very much like let's see John 19
- 19:55verse 34 through 37. OK, that's the verse 37.
- 20:01They will look on the 1:00. They have pierced.
- 20:04We know Jesus was pierced in his hands and his feet.
- 20:08All my bones are on display. People stare and gloat over me.
- 20:13Then David says they divide my clothes among them and cast lots
- 20:20for my garment. This is another thing that
- 20:24happened to Jesus on the cross and it said in Mark chapter 15
- 20:29verse 25 and they crucified him, dividing up his clothes.
- 20:36They cast lots to see what each would get and it says the same
- 20:43thing. When the soldiers crucified
- 20:49Jesus they took his clothes dividing them into 4 shares, one
- 20:54for each of them with the undergarment remaining.
- 20:57So about them casting lots for his garments.
- 21:04Then in verse 19 it says, but you Lord, this is the personal
- 21:09name of God Yahweh, do not be far from me.
- 21:13You are my strength. Come quickly to help me deliver
- 21:17me from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dogs,
- 21:24rescue me from the mouth of the lions, save me from the horns of
- 21:30the wild oxen. Again, this is like the wild,
- 21:33the bull, which is, you know, these other like false, fake
- 21:37gods that the Canaanites and other ancient people, the Pagan
- 21:42people worshipped and the mouth of lions.
- 21:45There's like good lions and bad lions.
- 21:47And within the Bible and the dogs, those were, that was a
- 21:51reference to like a male prostitute back in, you know,
- 21:55when I've looked this up before in the past.
- 21:57So it was a very negative sense about, about that.
- 22:03And these were the ones that were surrounding him.
- 22:07I will declare your name to my people in the assembly.
- 22:10I will praise you, you who fear the Lord or Yahweh, Praise Him.
- 22:17All you descendants of Jacob. Honour him.
- 22:21Revere him all you descendants of Israel.
- 22:24For he has not despised or scorned the suffering of the
- 22:29afflicted. 1 He has not hidden his face from him, but has
- 22:34listened to his cry for help. From you comes the theme of my
- 22:41praise in the great Assembly. Before those who fear you, I
- 22:48will fulfil my vows. So this was really interesting
- 22:52too, like I will fulfill my vows.
- 22:55It says from you comes the theme of my praise in the great
- 23:01assembly. Before those who fear you, those
- 23:05who fear the Lord are going to be in the assembly of the Lord
- 23:10and it says I will fulfill my vows.
- 23:13Now this could certainly be referring to David, but it also
- 23:17made me think of a few things that Jesus actually said.
- 23:25And let's see, this was actually, well, this is I do
- 23:36want to read what Jesus said. So in Matthew 26, verse 42, it
- 23:41says this is about Jesus. He went away a second time and
- 23:45prayed. My father, if it is not possible
- 23:49for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it may your will
- 23:55be done and let's see where else it is that he said this.
- 24:10And he said ABBA father, he said everything is possible for you.
- 24:16Take this cup from me, yet not what I will, but what you will.
- 24:22This is what Jesus was saying to the Father.
- 24:26And then another version in Luke says, Father, if you are
- 24:29willing, take this cup from me, yet not my will, but yours be
- 24:35done. Is that like a vow, A vow of
- 24:39obedience to the Father that you know?
- 24:42This is what we Elohim, the plurality, Father, Son and Holy
- 24:47Spirit, what we agreed this was like this, the salvation of
- 24:51mankind. And this is what had to happen.
- 24:55And Jesus is saying, you know, that, you know, if there's any
- 24:58way that this can be done differently, you know, let me
- 25:02know. But if not your will.
- 25:05This is what's happening. And in David's Psalm, he's
- 25:09saying I will fulfill my vows. I don't know.
- 25:12That was my thought that came to my mind was that He said that
- 25:17and then in Hebrew 10 verse 7, it says, well I'm going to read
- 25:24verse 5 first so you get the context.
- 25:26Therefore, when Christ came into the world, He said sacrifice and
- 25:31offering. You did not desire talking about
- 25:34the Father, but a body you prepared for me.
- 25:39Jesus had a body prepared for him with burnt offerings and sin
- 25:42offerings. You were not pleased.
- 25:44Then I said, here I am. It is written about me in the
- 25:50scroll. I have come to do your will, my
- 25:55God. So then verse 26, the poor will
- 26:03from Psalm 22, the poor will eat and be satisfied.
- 26:08Those who seek the Lord will praise him.
- 26:12May your hearts live forever. Of course, everyone's going to
- 26:17be praising Jesus and thanking Jesus when they are in the
- 26:21presence of the Lord. And again, this is those who
- 26:24seek the Lord are Yahweh by His personal name.
- 26:28Again, it's like a personal relationship with God to know
- 26:31these things or for these things to be revealed seeking God and
- 26:35you will find him. So verse 27 says all the ends of
- 26:40the earth will remember and turn and turn to the Lord are Yahweh,
- 26:46and all the families of the nations will bow down before
- 26:50him. For dominion belongs to the Lord
- 26:53and he rules over the nations. Again, this is so many different
- 26:59references to to Jesus here. Let's see, in First Timothy
- 27:07chapter 6 verse 15, it says, well actually I probably have to
- 27:12read a couple more verses. So it's all in one sentence, OK,
- 27:17In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Jesus
- 27:23of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate
- 27:28made the confession, the good confession, I charge you to keep
- 27:32this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our
- 27:38Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in his own
- 27:43time. God the blessed and only Ruler,
- 27:49the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, who alone is immortal and
- 27:56who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or
- 28:03can see. To him be honor and might
- 28:08forever. Amen.
- 28:12And then there are other references to the King of Kings
- 28:19in Revelation 17. Verse 14 says they will wage war
- 28:25against the Lamb, that the Lamb is symbolic of Jesus, but the
- 28:30Lamb will triumph over them because He is Lord of Lords and
- 28:38King of Kings and with and will be His called, chosen and
- 28:44faithful followers. In Revelation 19 verse 16 it
- 28:50says on his robe and on his thigh he has this name written,
- 28:56King of Kings and Lord of Lords. So again, this is when Jesus is
- 29:02going to be ruling over all the nations.
- 29:10In Revelation chapter 12 verse 5, it says she referring to
- 29:15Israel gave birth to a son, a male son who quote will rule all
- 29:23nations with an iron scepter. And that's actually from Psalm
- 29:282. And her child was snatched up to
- 29:31God and his throne. Jesus was raised up to God when
- 29:36he was on the cross. And then more references are in
- 29:48Revelation chapter one, verse 5, and from Jesus Christ, who is
- 29:54the faithful witness, the first born from the dead and the ruler
- 30:01of the kings of the earth to him who loves us and has freed us
- 30:07from our sins by his blood. So again, he's the ruler of the
- 30:13kings of the earth. And then in Revelation 3, verse
- 30:1814, it says to the Angel of the Lord and Laodicea write, these
- 30:22are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the
- 30:27ruler of God's creation. And that's referring to Jesus.
- 30:31Again, another reference to Jesus, how he is the King of
- 30:35kings, the Lord of Lords, the Lord of Lords.
- 30:40And in verse 29, in Psalm 22, it says all the rich of the earth
- 30:46will feast and worship. All who go down to the dust will
- 30:52kneel before him. I didn't look at this up, but it
- 30:55does say in Scripture that all, all men will kneel before him.
- 31:00All men will bow before him when he returns, every knee will
- 31:05bend. So there's lots of references
- 31:08again to Jesus. So again, David is talking about
- 31:12Jesus throughout this entire Psalm and and then it says will
- 31:17kneel before him. It says those who cannot keep
- 31:20themselves alive, like all people who go down to the dust,
- 31:24who do not accept Christ, they cannot keep themselves alive.
- 31:29And what this verse made me think about is what Jesus said
- 31:34when he said in John chapter 14 verse 6.
- 31:37Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life.
- 31:43No one comes to the Father except through me.
- 31:54I need to take pick a break. My throat got aggravated so
- 32:05we're almost finished. Verse 30 posterity will serve
- 32:14him. Future generations will be told
- 32:17about the Lord. They will proclaim His
- 32:21righteousness declaring, declaring to a people yet unborn
- 32:30He has done it. So this is talking about all the
- 32:35people who are going to be talking about Jesus declaring to
- 32:40a people yet unborn He has done it.
- 32:45What do you think maybe he's referring to when what that made
- 32:50me think about was John chapter 19 verse 30 when he had received
- 32:56his drink. Remember they put a sponge up to
- 32:59Jesus's mouth. Jesus said it is finished with
- 33:06that. He bowed his head and gave up
- 33:10his Spirit. So just like David said, he has
- 33:18done it. That was the salvation of all
- 33:22mankind for those who put their trust and faith in Jesus.
- 33:27So I hope I am going to stop this podcast because my voice is
- 33:30wearing out, but I hope this was beneficial to you and if it was,
- 33:35please share it to others. If you want to stay in the word,
- 33:37please subscribe. Thank you.
