- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Richard Sherman podcast and it's time
- 0:07Speaker 1: for our week seven preview. Hit that like and sub
- 0:10Speaker 1: button if you're new. You want to get this great content.
- 0:13Speaker 1: We're here to give it to you. We starting off
- 0:16Speaker 1: with the San Francisco 49ers at the Atlanta Falcons. The
- 0:20Speaker 1: Atlanta Falcons have been, you know, up and down this season.
- 0:23Speaker 1: They've had good games. They've had bad games. Pennix has
- 0:26Speaker 1: been up and down. He's a little beat up right now.
- 0:28Speaker 1: With the rib injury, there were some question marks the
- 0:31Speaker 1: game before, whether he could have came back in OT
- 0:34Speaker 1: or whether he couldn't. He said, hey, if we would
- 0:37Speaker 1: have went to another drive or something, I would have
- 0:39Speaker 1: came back. That left me with a lot of question marks.
- 0:42Speaker 1: I'm like, if you could have came back then, then
- 0:44Speaker 1: why didn't you come back earlier? It looked like, you know,
- 0:48Speaker 1: he didn't look like himself in this game, but he
- 0:51Speaker 1: threw three touchdowns and no interceptions. But you can see
- 0:54Speaker 1: he's still dealing with some issues. But John Robinson is
- 0:57Speaker 1: always an issue. It's in Atlanta. The San Francisco 49ers
- 1:01Speaker 1: have been rolling, but with Mike Evans. And when Mike
- 1:05Speaker 1: Evans is on the field, they look like an offense
- 1:08Speaker 1: that cannot be stopped, will not be stopped. But now
- 1:11Speaker 1: they're without their number one, number two, number three, number four,
- 1:16Speaker 1: number five receiver. Right now their healthy receivers are Jordan Watkins,
- 1:23Speaker 1: Brandon Cooks, and Jacob Cowley with the potential for Christian Kirk.
- 1:28Speaker 1: The potential for Christian Kirk. They would love to get
- 1:32Speaker 1: Bajon Robinson and Deshaun Stripling back. That would be fantastic.
- 1:37Speaker 1: I'm not sure when they are going to be back.
- 1:39Speaker 1: But Kyle Shanahan knows he's going to be without Mike
- 1:42Speaker 1: Evans for a little while. So what will his game
- 1:44Speaker 1: plan change? I'm sure. I think they still find a
- 1:47Speaker 1: way to win this game. The line is four and
- 1:51Speaker 1: a half. You know, Polly Market has them winning 60%. 63%,
- 1:57Speaker 1: I agree with that. I think they win this game
- 2:02Speaker 1: by at least seven points. I got them at 24-17.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Richard, you called it a couple weeks ago with my team.
- 2:12Speaker 2: You called Carolina over the Detroit Lions. I'm putting the
- 2:15Speaker 2: San Francisco 49ers on upset alert this weekend. I know
- 2:20Speaker 2: the faithful is going to probably roast me in the
- 2:22Speaker 2: comments section, but I'm here for objectivity. a new, you know,
- 2:27Speaker 2: brain analysis here. Richard, when you're without Debo Samuel, Mike Evans,
- 2:35Speaker 2: Ricky Pearsall, Devon Stripling, Christian Kirk, you already listed them all.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Five receivers gone. There's a lot of no-namers that are
- 2:44Speaker 2: going to have to step up. Brandon Cooks, you know,
- 2:46Speaker 2: the savvy veteran. Is he going to take over? We
- 2:50Speaker 2: shall see, but going on the road, going to a
- 2:52Speaker 2: different time zone against the Atlanta Falcons, what?
- 2:56Speaker 1: Mitchell, this is a ship. This is a ship, Mitchell.
- 2:59Speaker 1: A 6-0 ship. And you know how you keep it sturdy?
- 3:04Speaker 1: You rely on Brock Purdy. Mitchell, they still have Brock Purdy.
- 3:09Speaker 1: I think you got to be missing that. The reason
- 3:11Speaker 1: he's the number one MVP candidate of the National Football
- 3:15Speaker 1: League right now to this day isn't because he's doing
- 3:18Speaker 1: anything different than he's done over the last few years.
- 3:22Speaker 1: People just deciding to give him credit. He's the number
- 3:25Speaker 1: one all-time leader in passer rating now because he qualifies
- 3:28Speaker 1: with enough games. I think it was 50 games. He
- 3:30Speaker 1: now qualifies. Number one. I think he's the most accurate
- 3:34Speaker 1: quarterback over his career since 1950. Brock Purdy is healthy.
- 3:41Speaker 1: I think that's what gives him a chance. George Kittle,
- 3:43Speaker 1: Christian McCaffrey, Kalon Black. They can get it done. I
- 3:47Speaker 1: think that's enough to get it done with Kyle Shanahan
- 3:50Speaker 1: at the helm. Sure. We're going to see the yardage
- 3:53Speaker 1: go to other players. But I think they still find
- 3:57Speaker 1: a way to get it done. And then on the
- 3:59Speaker 1: other side, people starting to wake up on that defense, Mitchell.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Guess who's back from a two-week absence? The law.
- 4:09Speaker 2: You're going to enlighten me. You're going to enlighten me.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Dre Greenlaw is back with a vengeance, Mitchell. Fresh legs program.
- 4:19Speaker 1: And He's going to bring the energy. And then look
- 4:22Speaker 1: at this defense. At this point last year, guess how
- 4:26Speaker 1: many sacks the defense had? Six years ago.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Guessing not a whole lot. Guessing not a whole lot.
- 4:31Speaker 1: They had seven. They had seven. Mitchell, they had nine
- 4:36Speaker 1: in the last two weeks, five against Seattle, four this
- 4:38Speaker 1: last week against the Commanders. No Nicholas John Bosa involved
- 4:43Speaker 1: in any of them. Wait until he returns. If you
- 4:47Speaker 1: think you're lonely now, Mitchell, wait until he's back, girl.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I'm telling you. I don't know, Mitchell. I don't think
- 4:59Speaker 1: Atlanta has enough. I'm with you.
- 5:04Speaker 2: And I don't want my take to be this, you know,
- 5:08Speaker 2: Mitch hates the San Francisco 49ers. Because truth be told,
- 5:11Speaker 2: I think they're the best team in football. I got
- 5:13Speaker 2: them number one on my power ranks. I'll have them
- 5:15Speaker 2: number one again this week. But reality is, there's a
- 5:20Speaker 2: mountain of injuries on this team, and I just think Atlanta,
- 5:24Speaker 2: desperate for a win in the NFC South, trying to
- 5:27Speaker 2: keep pace for that division. I got Atlanta in this game, Richard.
- 5:31Speaker 2: I just do. Their flaws lie defensively, right? And with
- 5:35Speaker 2: them not having to deal with a wide receiving core,
- 5:38Speaker 2: the likes of a healthy one with the 49ers, because
- 5:41Speaker 2: they got a lot of talent over in San Francisco,
- 5:44Speaker 2: but they're not going to have a lot of talent
- 5:45Speaker 2: on the field on Sunday. But to your point, when
- 5:49Speaker 2: you want to get sturdy, call Brock Purdy. I love
- 5:53Speaker 2: this guy, man. I really believe he firmly deserves to
- 5:56Speaker 2: be in this MVP conversation. And if he wants to
- 5:59Speaker 2: be at the top of that conversation, he's going to
- 6:02Speaker 2: get things done without a receiving core that he started
- 6:05Speaker 2: with this season. So if he can make Jordan Watkins
- 6:08Speaker 2: and Brandon Cooks and Jacob Cowing relevant, then Brock Purdy
- 6:14Speaker 2: certainly deserves a praise. But give me Atlanta. Give me Atlanta, 27-24.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Mitchell, I don't even know how to respond to that,
- 6:26Speaker 1: but I respect it. Faithful, get on him. Here you
- 6:29Speaker 1: get on him. You heard Mitchell. The game of the
- 6:32Speaker 1: week this week, though, is the Seattle Seahawks versus the
- 6:36Speaker 1: Kansas City Chiefs. It's in Seattle, Lumen Field. electric atmosphere,
- 6:43Speaker 1: Sunday night football, and you know how the Seahawks play
- 6:46Speaker 1: in prime time, and I know Patrick Mahomes is coming
- 6:48Speaker 1: to town, K-9, Kenneth Walker is coming to get his
- 6:52Speaker 1: revenge game, but I just think the Seattle Seahawks defense
- 6:56Speaker 1: has something on their mind, and they're going to find
- 6:59Speaker 1: a way. I know that Mike McDonald, I had a
- 7:01Speaker 1: conversation with him after the game, obviously not happy with
- 7:05Speaker 1: how it went, but still very, very somber, very, very
- 7:09Speaker 1: level-headed about Going forward, I think he believes that they
- 7:13Speaker 1: can get these issues fixed in a very simple way.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Sam Darnold was right behind him. We had a conversation
- 7:20Speaker 1: with him. He takes a ton of responsibility and accountability
- 7:24Speaker 1: for what's going to happen, and he is going to
- 7:26Speaker 1: get it fixed is what he tells us. I think
- 7:30Speaker 1: this team is still a Super Bowl team, and they're
- 7:34Speaker 1: the reigning Super Bowl champions. Championship pedigree. The thing people
- 7:39Speaker 1: don't remember is about when we went back-to-back, not to
- 7:41Speaker 1: always make things about us, but the story's relevant right now,
- 7:45Speaker 1: is the year after we won the Super Bowl, we
- 7:48Speaker 1: started the season 3-3 with back-to-back losses in October. Sound familiar? Yeah,
- 7:56Speaker 1: I know. You think the sky's falling. You think this
- 7:59Speaker 1: team is done. But champions find a way. And we
- 8:04Speaker 1: went on a crazy run after that. I think we
- 8:06Speaker 1: only lost one game after that. until the Super Bowl.
- 8:10Speaker 1: And I think this team is capable of going on
- 8:13Speaker 1: that kind of run. And I know people are sitting
- 8:15Speaker 1: there like, man, if we had K-9, it would be this,
- 8:17Speaker 1: it would be that. Please go back and revisit last
- 8:20Speaker 1: season when K-9 was healthy early in the season and
- 8:23Speaker 1: how that running game looked. It did not look like
- 8:25Speaker 1: it did at the end of last season. And I
- 8:28Speaker 1: think sometimes that there's a little recency bias. They went
- 8:31Speaker 1: on a crazy run in the playoffs. He went on
- 8:33Speaker 1: a crazy run at near the end of the season
- 8:35Speaker 1: through the playoffs and had incredible impact. But it wasn't
- 8:38Speaker 1: like that all season long. And they're watching him in
- 8:41Speaker 1: Kansas City right now, and they're like, see, he could
- 8:44Speaker 1: be doing that for us. I don't know if the
- 8:47Speaker 1: run game is as adept as what Kansas City is
- 8:50Speaker 1: doing right now. I don't think it would be the
- 8:52Speaker 1: same if you just swapped him out. But I do
- 8:55Speaker 1: think the Seattle Seahawks defense is going to be able
- 8:58Speaker 1: to contain him for the most part, put pressure on
- 9:01Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes, create some turnovers, and give this offense short fields,
- 9:06Speaker 1: and that's going to lead to us The Seattle Seahawks
- 9:10Speaker 1: giving the Kansas City Chiefs their first loss of the season.
- 9:13Speaker 1: I got the Seattle Seahawks winning this one, Mitchell, in
- 9:16Speaker 1: a bit of a shootout. And not that this defense
- 9:19Speaker 1: isn't holding it down, but you know sometimes the Kansas
- 9:21Speaker 1: City defense can create turnovers as well. I got this one, 30-27,
- 9:27Speaker 1: Seattle Seahawks winning at Lumen Field and getting back the
- 9:31Speaker 1: respect they deserve as the reigning Super Bowl champs.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Color me shocked, Richard. You took the San Francisco 49ers
- 9:40Speaker 2: and Seattle Seahawks. I did not see that coming at all.
- 9:45Speaker 2: I don't know if there's a fan base that needs
- 9:47Speaker 2: to win more this weekend than the 12s up in Seattle.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Three and three, obviously, you kind of see that Super
- 9:54Speaker 2: Bowl momentum. It's starting to tone down a little bit.
- 9:59Speaker 2: And until this team establishes a run game, it's tough
- 10:02Speaker 2: for me to take them seriously as a contender again.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Zach Charbonnet, I know he's waiting in the wings, but
- 10:10Speaker 2: this team desperately needs him to come back and be
- 10:12Speaker 2: healthy and establish the run again. Because while Emmanuel Wilson
- 10:16Speaker 2: has been able to do his thing from time to
- 10:18Speaker 2: time there, They need another bell cow guy. Zach Charbonnet
- 10:21Speaker 2: did it all last year and he was what held
- 10:23Speaker 2: back Kenneth Walker and I think what ultimately caused Kenneth
- 10:26Speaker 2: Walker to leave. But until Zach Charbonnet comes back and
- 10:30Speaker 2: establishes his run game, I'm worried about Seattle. That's not
- 10:35Speaker 2: to say the longevity of this season. They got a
- 10:37Speaker 2: lot of time left to straighten things out. But they
- 10:41Speaker 2: need that run game, Richard. Patrick Mahomes coming into Lumen Field.
- 10:46Speaker 2: You know the 12s are going to be ruckus. But
- 10:49Speaker 2: you know, Polly market Vegas has got this in a
- 10:52Speaker 2: two and a half point favorite in Seattle's favor. Are
- 10:55Speaker 2: you surprised at Seattle's favorite in this game?
- 10:58Speaker 1: I'm not surprised at all. Um, one of the best
- 11:01Speaker 1: home field advantages, international football league, the best home field advantage.
- 11:04Speaker 1: And I know the Kansas city chiefs are used to
- 11:06Speaker 1: being an arrowhead and that's loud and they feel like
- 11:09Speaker 1: that's loud, but you come to Seattle, it's a different
- 11:11Speaker 1: level of loud. I know Kansas city chief fan are
- 11:13Speaker 1: going to be upset with me for saying it, but
- 11:15Speaker 1: I'm a little bit biased. So what, you know, sue
- 11:18Speaker 1: me for it, but, I think the defenses are going
- 11:22Speaker 1: to make the difference. There's a reason, not that they
- 11:26Speaker 1: can't go on a run and get hot, but this
- 11:28Speaker 1: Kansas City Chiefs defense usually under Spaggs has more sacks.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Right now, they only have four sacks, four interceptions. They
- 11:35Speaker 1: have eight total turnovers. On the flip side, the Seahawks defense,
- 11:39Speaker 1: who hasn't been necessarily killing it and getting the sacks
- 11:42Speaker 1: that they want, has 16 sacks. And I think I
- 11:46Speaker 1: think that's going to make the difference in this game.
- 11:48Speaker 1: I know Sam Darnold has turned the ball over. He
- 11:50Speaker 1: struggled some. I think they're going to find a way
- 11:53Speaker 1: to get a guy, Rasheed Shaheed. They saw how it
- 11:56Speaker 1: could look. They saw, hey, put the ball up. I
- 11:58Speaker 1: think they need at least three shots a game to
- 12:00Speaker 1: Rasheed Shaheed. Hey, one-on-ones down the field, see what he
- 12:04Speaker 1: can do, use his speed, loosen up that defense. That's
- 12:07Speaker 1: how you get better in the run game. You get
- 12:09Speaker 1: people out of the box because they have to deal
- 12:11Speaker 1: with him, Jackson Smith and Jigba. But if you don't
- 12:13Speaker 1: take those shots, If you don't use his speed, if
- 12:16Speaker 1: you don't use the guy that you decided to pay
- 12:19Speaker 1: $ 17 million a year, then I think you're doing this
- 12:22Speaker 1: offense a disservice. So I'm hoping that that goes into
- 12:25Speaker 1: the game plan this week. And I think if they
- 12:28Speaker 1: can get that included and really utilize his skill set,
- 12:33Speaker 1: Jackson's still a little banged up. I'm sure he's going
- 12:35Speaker 1: to fight through. He'll get his 10 targets. He'll make
- 12:37Speaker 1: an impact. I think that loosens up the run game.
- 12:40Speaker 1: They got to get Arroyo going. He hurt his shoulder
- 12:43Speaker 1: last week. I'm not sure. how much he's going to
- 12:46Speaker 1: play in this game. But I think that was a
- 12:48Speaker 1: guy that I saw during training camp that was making,
- 12:51Speaker 1: I mean, having an incredible training camp. And I don't
- 12:53Speaker 1: think they've been able to use him in the way
- 12:55Speaker 1: they wanted to. The Seahawks defense and Sam Donald taking
- 13:00Speaker 1: care of the football is going to be the difference
- 13:02Speaker 1: in this game.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Have you heard a song that goes something like this, Richard?
- 13:06Speaker 2: Lean on me when you're not strong. I mean, I
- 13:11Speaker 2: don't know if my voice is any good. Richard, the
- 13:14Speaker 2: Seattle Seahawks are going to have to lean on their defense.
- 13:18Speaker 2: And that's their calling card. That's going to be their
- 13:21Speaker 2: saving grace. They're going to have to wheel back the
- 13:23Speaker 2: hands of time. They're going to have to revert back
- 13:25Speaker 2: to the 2013-2014 era of Seattle Seahawks football. And this
- 13:29Speaker 2: defense is going to have to carry this team to
- 13:31Speaker 2: victory if they want to win. And that's not a
- 13:34Speaker 2: shot at Sam Darnold in the offense at all. I
- 13:36Speaker 2: just think that this offense, Sam Darnold obviously getting banged
- 13:39Speaker 2: up early in the season, they just look out of sorts.
- 13:42Speaker 2: But with that being said, I might join you in
- 13:45Speaker 2: the Seattle Seahawks victory parade here because being in Lumen Field,
- 13:49Speaker 2: a team desperate for a win, Seattle comes out on
- 13:52Speaker 2: top in a tight one, 20-19. I will join you,
- 13:56Speaker 2: my friend. Let's take it to Detroit, a game I
- 14:00Speaker 2: will be at. Division foe, the Green Bay Packers come
- 14:03Speaker 2: in town. Richard, I got my Honolulu blue on right now.
- 14:06Speaker 2: I'm gearing up for the game. I'm going to start
- 14:09Speaker 2: pregame and tailgating here a few days early. Polly Market
- 14:12Speaker 2: gives the Lions a slight edge in this game, 61%
- 14:16Speaker 2: likelihood to win and a 3.5-point favorite in Detroit. The
- 14:21Speaker 2: story for Detroit is pretty obvious. One of the best
- 14:24Speaker 2: offenses in football and the worst Detroit offense Lions defense
- 14:28Speaker 2: in football. Richard, you like to call them the Detroit Lions.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Will the Detroit Lions be called the Detroit Lions after
- 14:35Speaker 2: this week, or is their defense going to let them
- 14:37Speaker 2: down again?
- 14:50Speaker 1: Brian Branch is back. Let me say something. I mean,
- 14:54Speaker 1: Brian Branch is back, but, you know, he got to
- 14:56Speaker 1: work himself back in. And this is a game where
- 14:59Speaker 1: Green Bay has been rolling offensively. They rolled through the
- 15:04Speaker 1: Chicago Bears, who decided to play better defense once Caleb
- 15:08Speaker 1: Williams came back. I don't know what that's about, but
- 15:11Speaker 1: they did not play great defense versus the Green Bay Packers.
- 15:13Speaker 1: And then they just rolled through Dallas as well. And
- 15:16Speaker 1: it's Christian Watson. I mean, Christian Watson. And it's Matthew Goldin.
- 15:22Speaker 1: And they're pushing the ball down the field. Jordan Love
- 15:24Speaker 1: looks really comfortable. They still don't have a great run game.
- 15:29Speaker 1: But I think this is a game Detroit I'm nervous about.
- 15:34Speaker 1: I'm nervous about. Now, the caveat is this offensive line
- 15:39Speaker 1: for Green Bay has had struggles. They've been really good
- 15:42Speaker 1: the past two weeks. But earlier in the season, big-time struggles.
- 15:47Speaker 1: And this Detroit defense has had 20 sacks on the
- 15:49Speaker 1: season for all they struggled with everything else. They've struggled
- 15:52Speaker 1: with points. They've struggled against the pass. They're getting to
- 15:57Speaker 1: the quarterback. And they got only five takeaways on the season,
- 16:01Speaker 1: three interceptions. But if they can get after Jordan Love
- 16:05Speaker 1: and be aggressive and somewhat keep him covered up in
- 16:08Speaker 1: the back end, that's a big if, they can win
- 16:12Speaker 1: this game. I'm not sure about this 61%. And it's
- 16:16Speaker 1: three and a half points, though. I really, I thought
- 16:19Speaker 1: this was more of a toss-up game. And maybe I'm
- 16:22Speaker 1: missing something. I do think that if the Detroit Lions'
- 16:26Speaker 1: defense was better and they had found a way to
- 16:28Speaker 1: win a few more games, that Jared Goff would be
- 16:31Speaker 1: in the MVP conversation. I think he's the only quarterback
- 16:35Speaker 1: left that hasn't thrown the interception. 12 touchdowns, no interceptions,
- 16:40Speaker 1: 1,485 yards. Amon Ross St. Brown continues to be Mr. Consistent.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Jameer Gibbs, one of the best running backs in the
- 16:48Speaker 1: National Football League. This offense continues to look the part.
- 16:53Speaker 1: They continue their second in scoring, but they're 32nd in
- 16:56Speaker 1: total defense. That's the biggest concern. Green Bay is starting
- 16:59Speaker 1: to roll. They're starting to find their rhythm. They're actually
- 17:02Speaker 1: playing better defensively. Hey, Detroit, I know I want to
- 17:08Speaker 1: pick Detroit. Then just do it. I want to. It's
- 17:18Speaker 1: right there, guys, but it's like 32nd. 32nd in pass defense,
- 17:27Speaker 1: 32nd in total defense against an offense that is striking
- 17:30Speaker 1: out right now. In a defense that started to play back,
- 17:37Speaker 1: they played well against C.D. Lamb, George Pickens. I got
- 17:48Speaker 1: Green Bay, Mitchell. I'm sorry. I got Green Bay 23-20.
- 17:56Speaker 2: I think you just did this because I picked against
- 17:58Speaker 2: the San Francisco 49ers, man. I disagree with you, and
- 18:03Speaker 2: I strongly disagree with you. I think Detroit coming off
- 18:05Speaker 2: the bye, you know, they took care of the Arizona
- 18:08Speaker 2: Cardinals prior to the bye, and I know it was
- 18:10Speaker 2: a ho-hum game against the Cardinals, but reality is the
- 18:12Speaker 2: same Cardinals team just knocked off the L.A.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Rams.
- 18:15Speaker 2: The Lions defense looked a lot better. They made adjustments.
- 18:19Speaker 2: As I alluded to, they're getting Brian Branch back. I
- 18:21Speaker 2: don't know how much he's going to play. He's going
- 18:23Speaker 2: to certainly be on a pitch count out there. But
- 18:26Speaker 2: just that extra jolt of energy, that fresh blood in
- 18:29Speaker 2: the backfield and that secondary, I think is going to
- 18:32Speaker 2: motivate this Lions team. They introduced another rookie out of
- 18:36Speaker 2: Arizona State two weeks ago, Keith Abney. He played safety
- 18:40Speaker 2: for the first time in his career. He looked pretty
- 18:41Speaker 2: darn good doing it. So, This is a team that
- 18:45Speaker 2: I think is going to evolve, a defense that is
- 18:48Speaker 2: going to evolve throughout the season and get better. I
- 18:50Speaker 2: look for them to get better against Green Bay. Another
- 18:53Speaker 2: interesting point about this Lions team, you know, in the offseason,
- 18:57Speaker 2: Brad Johnson was highly criticized for, I'm sorry, Brad Holmes
- 19:00Speaker 2: was highly criticized for moving off of David Montgomery. He
- 19:04Speaker 2: traded him for a fourth round pick and a throw in,
- 19:06Speaker 2: a lot of people thought, and Drew Scruggs. Well, Drew
- 19:09Speaker 2: Scruggs is graded as a top center in football right now,
- 19:12Speaker 2: six weeks into the season. And the Lions are getting
- 19:15Speaker 2: their highly sought-after, coveted free agent signing at Cade Mays
- 19:19Speaker 2: back this week, who also plays the center position. So
- 19:22Speaker 2: keep an eye on that. I wonder what Dan Campbell's
- 19:24Speaker 2: going to do there. The Lions' offensive line is back
- 19:27Speaker 2: to its dominant ways, and I think that's going to
- 19:30Speaker 2: be the calling card for the Lions. Continue to pound
- 19:33Speaker 2: the football, take care of things offensively, and then let's
- 19:36Speaker 2: just hope, fingers crossed, prayers up, let's hope that this
- 19:40Speaker 2: Lions team can climb to low 20s as terms of
- 19:44Speaker 2: their defensive overall ranking, because if they can do that,
- 19:48Speaker 2: this team can be competitive. Give me the Lions at home, 31-24. Richard,
- 19:54Speaker 2: I think this defense is going to keep the Green
- 19:57Speaker 2: Bay Packers at bay enough for the Lions to come
- 20:00Speaker 2: out victorious in this one. Let's move on to Chicago,
- 20:03Speaker 2: a game that you're going to be at in Chicago,
- 20:07Speaker 2: in the Windy City. This is going to be one
- 20:08Speaker 2: of the games of the weekend. We are certainly blessed
- 20:11Speaker 2: with some great football this weekend. The New England Patriots
- 20:14Speaker 2: come into town, fresh off of multiple wins.
- 20:17Speaker 1: They're 4-2.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Could they make another visitation into our power ranks?
- 20:22Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Could either one of these teams be in.
- 20:24Speaker 1: That top five? Maybe.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Chicago's look good. They've got Caleb Williams back. Thank God.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Everyone was worried about that hamstring injury. Caleb Williams looked
- 20:35Speaker 2: like he was in mid-season form last week. What is
- 20:38Speaker 2: your thoughts about this game, Richard? I know you are
- 20:40Speaker 2: going to be there with the TNF crew. Who do
- 20:43Speaker 2: you got winning this one?
- 20:45Speaker 1: Well, the New England Patriots have played really good football,
- 20:48Speaker 1: especially offensively. Well, defensively too. Their defense has played really
- 20:51Speaker 1: good all season. They're 6th in total defense, 12th against
- 20:54Speaker 1: the pass, 8th against the run, and They have been really,
- 20:58Speaker 1: really consistent regardless of how the offense has played and
- 21:03Speaker 1: what they've done on that side. The defense, Vrabel and
- 21:05Speaker 1: these guys have kept it together. Even when Christian Gonzalez
- 21:10Speaker 1: was out for a few weeks, they played really good football.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Now he's back, and that changes the defense dramatically. Offensively,
- 21:17Speaker 1: they've been up and down. Drake Mays has been up
- 21:19Speaker 1: and down. They're tied for 19th in scoring. They beat
- 21:23Speaker 1: the Jets last week by seven, but that was a
- 21:26Speaker 1: closer game. than I think the score indicated. And I
- 21:32Speaker 1: just think that the Chicago Bears have too much firepower,
- 21:35Speaker 1: especially when Caleb Williams is playing and he's moving around,
- 21:39Speaker 1: he's on the run, he's making off-schedule passes like he
- 21:43Speaker 1: was last week. Luther Burton seems to be finding himself,
- 21:46Speaker 1: Roma Dunze, Colston Loveland, so many weapons on that offense.
- 21:51Speaker 1: And then you got DeAndre Swift and Manung Guy Both
- 21:56Speaker 1: guys are very dangerous in this offense. And I think
- 21:59Speaker 1: they're going to be impactful. This is the best offensive
- 22:01Speaker 1: line in football. And I think that's something you can
- 22:04Speaker 1: always hang your hat on in this league. And on
- 22:07Speaker 1: the defensive side, they had some struggles. And I think
- 22:10Speaker 1: they struggled versus the Carolina Panthers. First game of the
- 22:14Speaker 1: season gave up 37 points. And they struggled a little
- 22:17Speaker 1: bit against Green Bay when they gave up 31 points.
- 22:19Speaker 1: And Green Bay and Matthew Golden and Christian Watson were
- 22:22Speaker 1: going over the top of that defense defensively. gave up
- 22:24Speaker 1: a lot of explosives that day. And maybe having Caleb
- 22:29Speaker 1: Williams back has changed that and given him some energy
- 22:32Speaker 1: and reinvigorated this defense because they played really well last
- 22:36Speaker 1: week against Atlanta for a couple quarters. And then they
- 22:40Speaker 1: let Atlanta back in the game and make it a conversation.
- 22:42Speaker 1: That seems to be a theme in the league this year.
- 22:44Speaker 1: You know, get out ahead and make it look comfortable
- 22:46Speaker 1: and then let the team come back and make your
- 22:50Speaker 1: fans bite their nails. But they're seventh in total defense,
- 22:59Speaker 1: seventh against the run, 14th against the pass. They got
- 23:02Speaker 1: 17 sacks on the season, only three interceptions. That's something
- 23:06Speaker 1: that needs to change, but they got nine turnovers. Give
- 23:08Speaker 1: me Chicago in this one in a 24, give me
- 23:11Speaker 1: 27 to 20 ball game.
- 23:16Speaker 2: I'll be rooting for the Pats, Richard, and I think
- 23:18Speaker 2: the Pats come out on top in this one. Their
- 23:20Speaker 2: defense is certainly looking a lot better. They obviously went
- 23:23Speaker 2: on the road a couple weeks ago and knocked off
- 23:25Speaker 2: the red-hot Buffalo Bills. Drake May is kind of shaking
- 23:29Speaker 2: off the rust early on in this season and looked
- 23:31Speaker 2: like himself of last year over these last few weeks.
- 23:35Speaker 2: I got New England in a close one. Give me
- 23:38Speaker 2: them 24-20. I think it's going to be another thriller
- 23:41Speaker 2: on TNF. Richard, you guys have certainly been blessed with
- 23:45Speaker 2: some good games on Thursday Night Football, some true thrillers.
- 23:48Speaker 2: I got this one earmarked as another one of those thrillers.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Let's talk about the next game here, the Los Angeles Rams.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Everyone's darling in the offseason. Started the season 2-4 and
- 24:01Speaker 2: have a heap of injuries. Devontae Adams, the newest member
- 24:05Speaker 2: to that injured list, out 6-10 weeks with an injury.
- 24:09Speaker 2: And this game preview is sponsored by Polymarket. We got
- 24:13Speaker 2: the Rams at the Raiders. Polymarket has the Rams at
- 24:16Speaker 2: a 66% chance to win while the Raiders are at 34%.
- 24:20Speaker 2: The Raiders have looked good versus solid teams in the NFL,
- 24:25Speaker 2: and the Rams have looked not so good about pretty
- 24:28Speaker 2: much whoever they've played against. This week, do you think
- 24:31Speaker 2: Polymarket is right in giving the edge to the Rams?
- 24:36Speaker 1: The Rams are the quagmire of the National Football League
- 24:40Speaker 1: right now because you just don't know what you're going
- 24:42Speaker 1: to get you kind of thought at this point of
- 24:46Speaker 1: the season they would get Miles Garrett back. And they'd
- 24:52Speaker 1: been kind of mum on that situation, you know, letting
- 24:54Speaker 1: him take his time. Obviously, you want him to be 100%
- 24:57Speaker 1: when he comes back. But that's starting to be concerning
- 25:00Speaker 1: if you're a Rams fan. Like, when does he come back?
- 25:02Speaker 1: Are you going to get him back? Is he going
- 25:04Speaker 1: to be the same guy? Is he more serious than
- 25:06Speaker 1: you guys thought? Like, you got to say something. But offensively,
- 25:11Speaker 1: they've been up and down more up and down than
- 25:13Speaker 1: you would expect from a Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford
- 25:16Speaker 1: led offense, um, with Puka Nakua and Kyron Williams and, and,
- 25:20Speaker 1: and all the guys they have, uh, on that offense.
- 25:23Speaker 1: There's been a number of drops, um, mistakes late in
- 25:27Speaker 1: games and they've even the games they've won. It's been
- 25:31Speaker 1: last second comebacks against the Eagles. It's, it's been battles.
- 25:35Speaker 1: And I think this is going to be another, I
- 25:37Speaker 1: don't think Kirk cousins and it's Raiders offense is anything
- 25:39Speaker 1: to snuff at. Uh, I think they're doing a great
- 25:42Speaker 1: job running– not running the football because, again, Ashton Gentry,
- 25:46Speaker 1: I'm not sure he's the guy you should play. I
- 25:48Speaker 1: almost think you should give Mike Washington a few more carries.
- 25:52Speaker 1: But that's a story for a different day. They're pushing
- 25:54Speaker 1: the ball down the field. They're scoring points. They're sixth
- 25:58Speaker 1: in the league in scoring. And their defense was playing
- 26:01Speaker 1: better earlier in the season. They've kind of fell off
- 26:05Speaker 1: the wagon a little bit. They're 28th in total defense,
- 26:08Speaker 1: 24th against the pass, 28th against the run. And I
- 26:10Speaker 1: think that's why, you know, Polly Market has the Rams
- 26:14Speaker 1: winning this game. But it's just, I'm just really, I'm
- 26:19Speaker 1: not sure they're covering the five and a half point spread, if.
- 26:21Speaker 2: I'm being honest. I, my thoughts align exactly with you.
- 26:25Speaker 2: In fact, I think I'm going to go one step further.
- 26:27Speaker 2: I think the Raiders are going to win this game.
- 26:29Speaker 2: They've looked extremely competitive against top tier teams, you know,
- 26:32Speaker 2: almost beating the Chiefs. almost beating the Bills. And one
- 26:36Speaker 2: thing I love about the Raiders is how Kirk Cousins
- 26:39Speaker 2: gets his plethora of weapons involved. This team is built
- 26:43Speaker 2: around their tight ends. Brock Bowers is the name everyone knows.
- 26:46Speaker 2: But Michael Mayer, who's been in this league for four
- 26:49Speaker 2: years now at an order name, has had a heck
- 26:52Speaker 2: of a start to the season. He had nine receptions
- 26:54Speaker 2: last week for 95 yards. When they roll out this
- 26:57Speaker 2: two-headed monster, it makes the Raiders very unique. Is that
- 27:01Speaker 2: something you saw a whole lot with Clint Kubiak prior
- 27:04Speaker 2: to his Raider tenure?
- 27:07Speaker 1: No, but I think you use the personnel that you have.
- 27:10Speaker 1: They have really great tight ends, and so you feature them.
- 27:14Speaker 1: And I think that's what good coordinators, good offensive-minded coaches,
- 27:19Speaker 1: defensive-minded coaches, great coaches in general, they do. You maximize
- 27:23Speaker 1: your personnel and play to their strengths, and that's what
- 27:26Speaker 1: they're doing right now with this team. You're playing the
- 27:28Speaker 1: Kirk Cousins strengths. You're playing the Bauer strengths, Michael Mayer strengths,
- 27:32Speaker 1: and you're getting them involved in these games in really
- 27:35Speaker 1: meaningful ways, and I like that. I think they've got
- 27:39Speaker 1: to find a way to get Ashton Gentry going in
- 27:41Speaker 1: a bigger way in this game. Defensively, they're going to
- 27:44Speaker 1: have to make plays. They've got four interceptions, ten takeaways
- 27:47Speaker 1: on the season, but they're going to have to get
- 27:49Speaker 1: after Matthew Stafford, make him uncomfortable. He's the reigning MVP
- 27:52Speaker 1: of the National Football League, and I know they're 2-4,
- 27:54Speaker 1: but he is always dangerous. He can get hot at
- 27:57Speaker 1: any time. He's got 1,700 yards on the season. Devontae
- 28:01Speaker 1: Adams was their leading receiver. He's out, but Pukamunakua is
- 28:04Speaker 1: known to get hot and go for big yardage at
- 28:07Speaker 1: any time. Tough guy to bring down. We'll see how
- 28:10Speaker 1: this one goes. I know you got the upset, but
- 28:12Speaker 1: I think the Rams find a way to get back
- 28:14Speaker 1: on track in this game. Matthew Safford, Sean McVay, right
- 28:17Speaker 1: the ship, get to 3-4. If they go to 2-5...
- 28:21Speaker 1: The sky's falling, and there's going to be some difficult
- 28:23Speaker 1: conversations and difficult criticisms that they're going to have to
- 28:26Speaker 1: deal with.
- 28:27Speaker 2: Polymarket gives the Rams a 97% chance to not score
- 28:31Speaker 2: more than three and a half touchdowns in this game.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Do you think they can score more than that? I
- 28:37Speaker 2: feel like they are definitely due for a breakout offensively.
- 28:40Speaker 2: But is four touchdowns something that you see as a
- 28:45Speaker 2: positive outcome for them?
- 28:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean... Yeah, the Raiders haven't been the best. So, yeah,
- 28:55Speaker 1: I think they can score more than four touchdowns. I
- 28:57Speaker 1: think they're going to go for scoring more than four touchdowns.
- 29:00Speaker 1: But that's the best thing about Polymarket. It's an alternative
- 29:03Speaker 1: to traditional sportsbooks that keeps you in control of your trades.
- 29:07Speaker 1: You can get in and out anytime you want. I
- 29:10Speaker 1: need to tell you about this new prediction market called Polymarket.
- 29:14Speaker 1: It's the best new way to trade in sports.
- 29:18Speaker 2: In the past, if you wanted action on the game,
- 29:21Speaker 2: you put some money in. And if your team was
- 29:23Speaker 2: doing well and you wanted to cash out, they'd lock
- 29:26Speaker 2: the trade or take a huge fee.
- 29:29Speaker 1: But Polymarket is a prediction market. It's a stock exchange
- 29:33Speaker 1: for sports, buying in and selling out on your terms.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Richard, I've tried them all and Polymarket is simply the
- 29:41Speaker 2: best prediction market. It's better than DraftKings. It's better than FanDuel, CalSheet,
- 29:46Speaker 2: you name it.
- 29:47Speaker 1: And they're so confident that you will never go back
- 29:50Speaker 1: to the other guys that they're giving you a free
- 29:53Speaker 1: $ 25 on your first trade when you deposit just $ 10.
- 29:58Speaker 2: And now they've launched a new feature. It's called Squads,
- 30:01Speaker 2: a group chat where you can see what everyone is
- 30:03Speaker 2: trading on.
- 30:05Speaker 1: So download the Polymarket app today and use the promo
- 30:08Speaker 1: code Sherman when you sign up. That's S-H-E-R-M-A-N to get
- 30:14Speaker 1: $ 25 free after you deposit just $ 10.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Let's take it to Minnesota. This team is 5-0, red-hot defense,
- 30:23Speaker 2: suspect offense. They'll be hosting the Indianapolis Colts, who just
- 30:27Speaker 2: let go of their GM, Chris Ballard. Let's start there
- 30:30Speaker 2: in Indy. Do you think there is a GM in
- 30:33Speaker 2: football that has done a worse job over the last
- 30:36Speaker 2: couple years than Chris Ballard in Indianapolis?
- 30:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm almost 100% sure there is.
- 30:42Speaker 2: But Richard, he paid, he paid Indiana Jones. He traded
- 30:52Speaker 2: multiple first round picks for sauce Garner. I mean, this guy,
- 30:56Speaker 2: his failures cannot go unspoken on. These are, these are
- 31:00Speaker 2: issues that are going to haunt this team for years
- 31:03Speaker 2: to come. I mean, I understand why Ballard got, got
- 31:07Speaker 2: let go, but I, I, softball that question up because
- 31:11Speaker 2: who's next in the indianapolis is steichen next is he
- 31:15Speaker 2: the next man.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Out i i don't know i don't know it's probably
- 31:19Speaker 1: going to be a fire self they continue to spiral
- 31:22Speaker 1: um the owner you know has has has been under
- 31:26Speaker 1: fire a bit for just how involved she was um
- 31:30Speaker 1: you know kind of overseeing everything And it looked cool
- 31:33Speaker 1: when they were winning and they were on a roll and,
- 31:35Speaker 1: you know, there was some positive press behind it. But
- 31:37Speaker 1: the same thing that makes you laugh can make you cry.
- 31:40Speaker 1: And now they're criticizing her. And I don't know. I
- 31:45Speaker 1: don't know what they're going to do. I know that
- 31:47Speaker 1: if they lose this game and it's likely that they
- 31:49Speaker 1: do lose this game because Brian Flores is known to
- 31:52Speaker 1: turn embers into a house fire and help burn the
- 31:56Speaker 1: house down and I think that he's going to be attacking.
- 32:00Speaker 1: He's going to put a lot of pressure on him.
- 32:01Speaker 1: He's going to have a good plan. They're in Minnesota.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Not the toughest place to play, but a lot tougher
- 32:07Speaker 1: than you think. Indianapolis has little hope in this game.
- 32:11Speaker 1: They're struggling on both sides of the football. They're not
- 32:13Speaker 1: scoring a lot of points. They're limiting yards on defense,
- 32:17Speaker 1: but at the end of the day, they're not winning
- 32:20Speaker 1: ball games. They just lost to a Tennessee Titans team.
- 32:23Speaker 1: And sure, there were some special teams miscues in that
- 32:26Speaker 1: game that helped lead to that victory for Tennessee, but
- 32:29Speaker 1: the players are frustrated, and Minnesota is that kind of
- 32:34Speaker 1: opponent that you really don't want to see when you're spiraling.
- 32:37Speaker 1: They're the kind of people that kick dirt in the wound,
- 32:40Speaker 1: especially at the rate that Brian Flores has been blitzing,
- 32:44Speaker 1: and how unorthodox they are in their coverages, and they're
- 32:47Speaker 1: playing really well with a lot of confidence. Give me
- 32:52Speaker 1: Minnesota in this one, and The Indianapolis Colts going on
- 32:58Speaker 1: a fire sale, getting rid of players, getting rid of coaches,
- 33:03Speaker 1: and trying to restart because that's the point they're at.
- 33:07Speaker 1: They have talented players. They have a talented team. But
- 33:10Speaker 1: maybe it just doesn't work well together. Sure, you could
- 33:13Speaker 1: get rid of Shane Steichen. I'm not sure if he's
- 33:15Speaker 1: the issue in this. But I got Minnesota 21-10.
- 33:24Speaker 2: I joined with you in Minnesota. I like them in
- 33:27Speaker 2: this game, handedly, led by their defense. We'll keep an
- 33:30Speaker 2: eye on Kyler Murray and what he can do as
- 33:32Speaker 2: he continues to get experience with this offense. Obviously, Justin
- 33:37Speaker 2: Jefferson being back from injury will help them. Jordan Mason
- 33:41Speaker 2: potentially will be back as well. Keep an eye on
- 33:44Speaker 2: Minnesota here, man. They could go on a run. They
- 33:46Speaker 2: play the Lions next week. We might see a thriller
- 33:52Speaker 2: in Ford Field again for that one In fact, we've
- 33:55Speaker 2: got a special guest coming up from the Minnesota Vikings,
- 34:01Speaker 2: Harrison Smith. So I want you guys to check out
- 34:03Speaker 2: that portion of this podcast as well.
- 34:06Speaker 1: A 15-year veteran of the National Football League, pro bowler,
- 34:10Speaker 1: all pro, all these things. And now I think he's
- 34:13Speaker 1: the leader in interceptions, the active leader. I mean, he
- 34:17Speaker 1: passed up the old man. And, you know, I'm paying attention, Harrison.
- 34:20Speaker 1: You got past me. a great player for the Minnesota Vikings,
- 34:25Speaker 1: came back when they needed him. They're 5-0 right now. Harrison,
- 34:29Speaker 1: appreciate you joining me, brother.
- 34:31Speaker 3: Thanks for having me on, Sheriff.
- 34:32Speaker 1: It's my pleasure, brother. You've been playing a long time,
- 34:35Speaker 1: playing at a high level. It's been fun to watch
- 34:37Speaker 1: your career. What went into the decision for you to
- 34:41Speaker 1: come back, and how happy are you with that decision
- 34:43Speaker 1: with how well you guys are playing?
- 34:46Speaker 3: Yeah, first off, I'm being 5-0, very happy. Um, and
- 34:52Speaker 3: then kind of beyond that, just the way that we're
- 34:55Speaker 3: doing it, the way we're playing good defense, the group
- 34:58Speaker 3: of guys, um, it's a lot of fun. Like coming
- 35:01Speaker 3: to work is a lot of fun. It's enjoyable and
- 35:03Speaker 3: we are productive and, um, enjoying ourselves when it counts
- 35:08Speaker 3: the most. But as far as the decision goes, like
- 35:11Speaker 3: I was, I was, uh, enjoying my time at home
- 35:15Speaker 3: in Tennessee and, um, staying in shape, but not, not
- 35:19Speaker 3: getting too carried away. And then, uh, We were just talking.
- 35:25Speaker 3: My daughter was like, when are we going back to Minnesota?
- 35:26Speaker 3: She's four. And I kind of looked at my wife
- 35:29Speaker 3: and was like, actually, I'm kind of getting a little
- 35:33Speaker 3: bit of an itch to go back. And things kind
- 35:37Speaker 3: of worked out. And I asked my wife if she
- 35:39Speaker 3: was all good with it. And she was kind of
- 35:43Speaker 3: shocked a little bit, but ready to go. And just
- 35:48Speaker 3: made it happen. I got here on Monday of week one. Yeah,
- 35:53Speaker 3: Monday of week one. And it was like, you know,
- 35:57Speaker 3: Flo was like, Flo KO. They were like, yeah, we
- 36:01Speaker 3: see you, like, getting some reps. And I was like,
- 36:03Speaker 3: all right, cool. Like, I'm, in a weird way, not
- 36:08Speaker 3: practicing at all. Like, the last time I played ball
- 36:11Speaker 3: was in a game. So the speed of the game, like,
- 36:14Speaker 3: the speed of the game was the speed of the game.
- 36:15Speaker 3: It was almost like I didn't have to adjust. So
- 36:18Speaker 3: that was kind of, that was a unique experience for sure,
- 36:21Speaker 3: just getting out there and playing. especially against Green Bay,
- 36:24Speaker 3: Jordan Love at home.
- 36:26Speaker 1: It was very cool. It was very cool. Yeah, but
- 36:29Speaker 1: in some ways, it's like riding a bike once you've
- 36:31Speaker 1: played it this long and you're playing a division opponent.
- 36:34Speaker 1: You're like, okay, we're dealing with the floor. What are
- 36:38Speaker 1: the tendencies? What are they giving us? Which way are
- 36:41Speaker 1: they skinning the cat today? But it seems like they've
- 36:45Speaker 1: kind of eased you in a little bit, you know,
- 36:48Speaker 1: rightfully so, because they, they need you to survive the season.
- 36:51Speaker 1: You're a huge part of what they're doing, but how
- 36:53Speaker 1: has that been for you? You know, you've played, I
- 36:55Speaker 1: think 48% of the snaps this season, you were at
- 36:57Speaker 1: 80 something last season. I'm sure that'll change more as
- 37:00Speaker 1: the season progresses and you feel a little bit more comfortable.
- 37:04Speaker 3: Um, yeah, I mean, last year, kind of similar situation
- 37:08Speaker 3: to start the year, but more because of injury and
- 37:11Speaker 3: the first few games back, um, was probably around the
- 37:15Speaker 3: same percentage. And then that ramped up, um, this year though,
- 37:19Speaker 3: like we're just, we're just playing it by ear. I
- 37:21Speaker 3: think we have a good thing going, um, on third
- 37:25Speaker 3: downs and, and then early downs, uh, Theo Jackson's out
- 37:30Speaker 3: there a lot of the time, more like two safety looks.
- 37:32Speaker 3: We run a lot of three safety looks. So, um,
- 37:35Speaker 3: it helps, it helps having a bunch of guys that
- 37:37Speaker 3: can play different spots. Uh, but like the way things
- 37:40Speaker 3: are going right now, we're, You never know how the
- 37:43Speaker 3: season goes, the health and matchups and whatever. I'm ready
- 37:48Speaker 3: for whatever. Just trying to win.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Man, it just seems like, not that you guys are
- 37:54Speaker 1: a no-name defense because you guys got a ton of
- 37:56Speaker 1: great players, but guys like Blake Cashman and Andrew Van
- 38:01Speaker 1: Ginkle and even Dallas Turner, who's really started to ascend
- 38:05Speaker 1: in a big way this year. Brian Flores, and I
- 38:08Speaker 1: said this earlier in the year, is a little bit
- 38:11Speaker 1: insane to me. That's what it seems like. I don't
- 38:14Speaker 1: know how... You're probably used to it, but even for
- 38:17Speaker 1: him this year, it's been wild. He's sinning it.
- 38:21Speaker 3: Yeah. We see those conversations about the blitz rates and
- 38:29Speaker 3: everybody thinks it's wild, and rightfully so.
- 38:32Speaker 1: It is wild.
- 38:35Speaker 3: But when you're living it and really... I met Flo
- 38:43Speaker 3: in 2023 when he got here, and I feel like
- 38:46Speaker 3: since then he's kind of been formulating this, I don't
- 38:51Speaker 3: want to say hodgepodge, but it's because it's not a hodgepodge.
- 38:54Speaker 3: It's very thought out, and there's reasons for everything. But
- 38:58Speaker 3: it was very aggressive and very pressure-oriented. It's just kind
- 39:03Speaker 3: of a different way of looking at playing defense. So
- 39:05Speaker 3: since I was there, kind of from the start, almost
- 39:10Speaker 3: like part of the experiment in a way, it doesn't
- 39:15Speaker 3: feel crazy. Like it looks when you look at the
- 39:20Speaker 3: numbers of, you know, pressuring with more than four, essentially.
- 39:25Speaker 3: Which to me, like we talk about it sometimes, it's like,
- 39:28Speaker 3: who decided that four? was the baseline amount you're supposed
- 39:32Speaker 3: to send? That was decided when Walter Camp came up
- 39:37Speaker 3: with football.
- 39:39Speaker 1: What does that mean?
- 39:43Speaker 3: And there's value in doing it so many times because
- 39:47Speaker 3: you build comfort in it. And it just allows you
- 39:51Speaker 3: to see the game a little bit different.
- 39:54Speaker 1: I agree. I think, and I know you're like, who
- 39:58Speaker 1: came up with it? I don't know, but that's the metric.
- 40:00Speaker 1: And in the history of ball, as they've been measuring it,
- 40:03Speaker 1: this is crazy. And maybe it's so ingenuitive that it
- 40:08Speaker 1: changes the landscape of football. And I think he's becoming
- 40:11Speaker 1: that kind of coordinator. It's almost like people talk about
- 40:16Speaker 1: McDonald out in Seattle. And how innovative he's been and
- 40:21Speaker 1: how he's at the forefront of football. But a lot
- 40:23Speaker 1: of it is similar to what Vic Fangio has been doing.
- 40:27Speaker 1: I don't have a lot that I could compare what
- 40:29Speaker 1: Brian Flores is doing. You know, it's almost like what
- 40:32Speaker 1: Wink Martindale was doing, what Rex was doing a little bit,
- 40:36Speaker 1: but it's all combined with more chaos and. like you said,
- 40:42Speaker 1: it seems like he's got the perfect guys and the
- 40:45Speaker 1: perfect secondary with Isaiah Rogers and Byron Murphy and you
- 40:49Speaker 1: and Theo and to, to buy in and say, yeah,
- 40:52Speaker 1: it don't sound that crazy to us. Yeah. Living your
- 40:55Speaker 1: life quarter mile at a time. Like it don't sound
- 40:57Speaker 1: that crazy when you're going 120, but everybody watching you
- 41:00Speaker 1: going 120, like, wow, they going fast, but you're in
- 41:03Speaker 1: the car. And I think it's a huge part of
- 41:06Speaker 1: why you guys have had the success you've had. But,
- 41:10Speaker 1: every game it seems like you have another dynamic play
- 41:13Speaker 1: and another turnover and another big reason why this defense
- 41:17Speaker 1: is considered the best in the National Football League. Can
- 41:20Speaker 1: you talk about your teammates and the ascension of some
- 41:23Speaker 1: of your interior defensive linemen that have helped?
- 41:27Speaker 3: Yeah, that's, I think that's, like you mentioned, Blake Cashman
- 41:31Speaker 3: and Dallas Turner, Eric Wilson, Van Giet, like those are
- 41:36Speaker 3: guys who have like, I still think are underrated, but
- 41:39Speaker 3: they've at least been around. Some of these guys up front, like,
- 41:44Speaker 3: I mean, there's so many. Like, every one of them
- 41:47Speaker 3: that plays, like, Levi's in there. Redman's in there.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Ty.
- 41:52Speaker 3: The young guys we've drafted, Caleb, Dom, Big Citrus. Like,
- 41:59Speaker 3: I know I'm forgetting. Like, everyone out there is playing
- 42:02Speaker 3: at a really high level. I don't want to forget anybody.
- 42:04Speaker 1: Right, right.
- 42:05Speaker 3: Because, like, literally anybody on the field is– is making plays.
- 42:08Speaker 3: And it's a, and again, there's like, there's unique things
- 42:12Speaker 3: that are asked of interior D linemen that aren't like
- 42:17Speaker 3: always what you see being coached everywhere as far as
- 42:21Speaker 3: like how we're sending them and how they place it
- 42:22Speaker 3: and things. So it's, it's not easy to learn. I
- 42:28Speaker 3: think those guys are, are really where it starts for
- 42:30Speaker 3: the whole defense. And then everybody kind of can play
- 42:35Speaker 3: off them. If those guys are making plays, like, it's
- 42:38Speaker 3: going to be a long day for you.
- 42:39Speaker 1: No question. Yeah. And you've played on a lot of,
- 42:42Speaker 1: you played on this Minnesota Vikings team for 15 years,
- 42:46Speaker 1: hall of fame career, a lot of, a lot of
- 42:50Speaker 1: great teams, some, some not so great teams, but you
- 42:53Speaker 1: played on that 14 and three team where you guys
- 42:56Speaker 1: had that incredible run. Do you feel like this is
- 42:58Speaker 1: one of the best Vikings teams, at least defensively that
- 43:01Speaker 1: you've ever been on? Yeah.
- 43:05Speaker 3: I mean, I think it has the makings of it. Like,
- 43:07Speaker 3: Being this early in the season, you know how it is. Like,
- 43:12Speaker 3: everything's great right now. We'll see where we're at in
- 43:16Speaker 3: a few more weeks. But it's definitely got– it has
- 43:19Speaker 3: a lot of the makings of it. And not in
- 43:21Speaker 3: the same ways, in different ways. I think the best
- 43:23Speaker 3: part of this defense is the– not that there's, like,
- 43:29Speaker 3: no names. Like, I think Dallas Turner's going to be, like,
- 43:31Speaker 3: a big star.
- 43:32Speaker 1: I think so, too.
- 43:34Speaker 3: But I think as of right now, the fact that, like–
- 43:37Speaker 3: there's not one dominant star. Like you can't account for everyone.
- 43:43Speaker 3: Like everyone is, everyone is very good and can, can
- 43:47Speaker 3: make big game changing plays at every level of the defense.
- 43:51Speaker 3: And I think that's, that's a weapon in itself in
- 43:53Speaker 3: the way that this defense is constructed and kind of
- 43:58Speaker 3: its uniqueness.
- 44:01Speaker 1: So I, I wouldn't.
- 44:02Speaker 3: Compare it to any defense I've been on, even though
- 44:04Speaker 3: like I hold some of those defenses in like really
- 44:07Speaker 3: high regard, but it's just totally different and i think
- 44:11Speaker 3: it's it's um it's like a little more moldable and
- 44:15Speaker 3: like adaptable as the season goes on which which is
- 44:18Speaker 3: what is is the coolest part to me because like
- 44:21Speaker 3: you're not stuck in a box you can whatever we
- 44:24Speaker 3: need to do like we can probably figure it out
- 44:27Speaker 3: it's just if we figure it out in time during
- 44:29Speaker 3: the game or not like but we're gonna have the
- 44:33Speaker 3: pieces and the the like mental capacity to find, to
- 44:37Speaker 3: like look for it.
- 44:39Speaker 1: Yeah. It seems like you guys have a ton of
- 44:42Speaker 1: answers and usually the answer is, is pressure and it's
- 44:46Speaker 1: almost offensive defense. Like, and I don't, I don't know
- 44:50Speaker 1: if I've ever even thought about it that way until
- 44:52Speaker 1: I just said it, but like you guys go into
- 44:54Speaker 1: games knowing you're going to impact the game because you know,
- 44:56Speaker 1: you're going to force them to make fast decisions, be
- 44:59Speaker 1: uncomfortable all game and really play off their back foot.
- 45:02Speaker 1: And when you're playing that way, I mean, it got
- 45:04Speaker 1: to feel good walking into some of these stadiums. You
- 45:07Speaker 1: got the Colts next with Daniel Jones, and they just
- 45:10Speaker 1: struggled against the Titans. And obviously, every week in the
- 45:13Speaker 1: National Football League, you don't take for granted. But it
- 45:15Speaker 1: has to feel good knowing that you're going to go
- 45:17Speaker 1: in there in regards to who the opponent is. Your
- 45:20Speaker 1: plan is to attack.
- 45:23Speaker 3: That is, I don't know if it was put in
- 45:25Speaker 3: those exact words, but that is kind of the approach
- 45:29Speaker 3: of the defenses to offense. is to be like, whether
- 45:34Speaker 3: it's offensive or more like in control of what is
- 45:38Speaker 3: going to happen. Like if you're doing certain things defensively,
- 45:42Speaker 3: no matter what, like you're kind of saying it would
- 45:46Speaker 3: be ill advised for you to run certain place on offense.
- 45:50Speaker 3: And you can still try it if you want. And
- 45:54Speaker 3: some people have, and especially early on, cause like nobody
- 45:57Speaker 3: had any idea what we were doing and we didn't
- 45:59Speaker 3: really either. like a few years ago. But it limits
- 46:04Speaker 3: kind of options for everybody if you do it the
- 46:08Speaker 3: right way. And it really does give you more of
- 46:12Speaker 3: a feel of an offensive play caller on defense, which is–
- 46:17Speaker 3: it's just a different deal.
- 46:21Speaker 1: Well, how are you feeling about your interceptions? You're the
- 46:25Speaker 1: active leader in interceptions. Are you going to get your
- 46:28Speaker 1: 40th this Sunday?
- 46:29Speaker 3: Yeah. I'm going to need to find 40.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Got to get 40.
- 46:34Speaker 3: All the guys have been on me about that. I
- 46:36Speaker 3: had a chance that first week I was back, and
- 46:39Speaker 3: luckily my boy JP got it instead. But I was
- 46:45Speaker 3: pretty down on myself about that one.
- 46:47Speaker 1: But it's coming.
- 46:49Speaker 3: It's at the right time. Just play ball. Normally, I
- 46:54Speaker 3: don't know about you, but anytime I ever go out
- 46:57Speaker 3: hunting interceptions, it's just not really. No, just go play.
- 47:01Speaker 3: Whatever your job is, do it well. The ball will
- 47:04Speaker 3: find you. And if it doesn't, it will find somebody else.
- 47:09Speaker 3: You just play the game how it's intended to be
- 47:12Speaker 3: played as a team sport and it normally comes back around.
- 47:16Speaker 1: No question. It'll hit you in the face when you're
- 47:19Speaker 1: doing your job right. There's so many times you guys
- 47:22Speaker 1: used to run that quarter's. where you just walk through
- 47:24Speaker 1: a dig, and you just come through, and I'm like, what?
- 47:28Speaker 1: Just do what you're supposed to do. Yeah, for sure.
- 47:33Speaker 1: So I know you came back this year. You guys
- 47:35Speaker 1: are on an incredible run. You're flying high. Is this
- 47:38Speaker 1: your last year, or are you leaving the door open?
- 47:42Speaker 3: I've always left the door open in the past, but, like,
- 47:46Speaker 3: I mean, this is my last year as far as, like,
- 47:50Speaker 3: I'll never– I don't know if I'll ever say, like,
- 47:54Speaker 3: for sure no to anything. But, no, this is my
- 47:58Speaker 3: last year for sure.
- 48:00Speaker 1: Look, I can see you, if they go into a
- 48:02Speaker 1: deep playoff run next year and they Eric Weddle you,
- 48:06Speaker 1: you're definitely putting a shoulder pass on it. There is.
- 48:09Speaker 3: See, like, the Weddle scenario, we were talking about that. So,
- 48:13Speaker 3: Kyle Vannoy is here. And we were just talking about
- 48:16Speaker 3: some OGs. And we were like, man, the Weddle story
- 48:20Speaker 3: is crazy. In the Super Bowl, I feel like it needs– like,
- 48:24Speaker 3: people need to hear it a little more. Like, he
- 48:25Speaker 3: tore his pec, like, the first drive in the Super
- 48:30Speaker 3: Bowl and just was like, yeah, I'm just going to play. Like,
- 48:33Speaker 3: that's so ridiculous to be out there making tackles. And
- 48:38Speaker 3: he was calling the defense.
- 48:39Speaker 1: Like, I think he was wearing the green dot.
- 48:41Speaker 3: And he was, like, one or two years out of
- 48:44Speaker 3: the league and just kind of showed up and learned
- 48:46Speaker 3: the whole thing. Like, that's so– That's such a big
- 48:50Speaker 3: deal to be able to have done. I feel like
- 48:54Speaker 3: we should show Eric a little more love.
- 48:56Speaker 1: I definitely feel like it's one of those things a
- 48:57Speaker 1: movie's going to be made about that they're not talking
- 49:00Speaker 1: about enough. And they're going to be like, why are
- 49:01Speaker 1: we making a movie about that? And then when you
- 49:03Speaker 1: watch the movie, you're going to be like, God dang.
- 49:06Speaker 1: So he really came off the ground. He wasn't training
- 49:08Speaker 1: hard and doing all this and really helped them win
- 49:11Speaker 1: a Super Bowl. Yes. It's crazy. But I want to
- 49:17Speaker 1: give you time and space to say or. ask anything
- 49:20Speaker 1: you want to ask, anything we didn't cover. I saw
- 49:23Speaker 1: your reaction to that crazy Justin Jefferson. First off, dying
- 49:27Speaker 1: from Kyler in that Saints game. Oh, my God. Could
- 49:30Speaker 1: you imagine being one of those DBs?
- 49:33Speaker 3: I know, like, as it went up, I was watching
- 49:35Speaker 3: on the video screen, and I was like, ooh, I
- 49:38Speaker 3: don't like this.
- 49:40Speaker 1: And then it was.
- 49:40Speaker 3: Just like, in a way, I mean, it was a
- 49:44Speaker 3: dime by Kyle, but like I've seen Jets make so
- 49:48Speaker 3: many plays like that where the ball goes up and
- 49:51Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, he's double covered or, you know, the
- 49:55Speaker 3: DB's all over him or whatever. And he still will
- 49:58Speaker 3: come away with it. And you're just like, how? Like
- 50:01Speaker 3: it doesn't even, like the fourth and 18 versus the
- 50:05Speaker 3: Bills in like 20, I think that was 2022 season.
- 50:08Speaker 1: I remember that one, yeah.
- 50:11Speaker 3: Was maybe, I don't know, the first touchdown he ever
- 50:14Speaker 3: scored was like a wild play. And he like started
- 50:18Speaker 3: gritting from like the 10-yard line or 5-yard line. Like
- 50:21Speaker 3: he's always just been, he's a really fun player to watch.
- 50:25Speaker 3: Like he's always, it always looks good when he's doing it.
- 50:31Speaker 3: So being on his team, like selfishly coming back this year,
- 50:38Speaker 3: I'm like, well, I get to watch this. I get
- 50:40Speaker 3: to watch Jets up close and personal one more time.
- 50:42Speaker 3: Like that's, that's a gift in itself. So he's always,
- 50:47Speaker 3: he's always, and he's like a very gracious superstar, which is,
- 50:52Speaker 3: which is cool to be around.
- 50:53Speaker 1: That's always, that's always great to be around. And I know,
- 50:56Speaker 1: you know, during training camp, it's all you, you respect
- 50:59Speaker 1: guys that you, you build it with and you, you
- 51:02Speaker 1: battle with all day and you get to see how
- 51:04Speaker 1: spectacular and how difficult they are to game plan and
- 51:07Speaker 1: compete against. And then you get to watch them, Go
- 51:10Speaker 1: kill somebody else. You'd be like, yeah, I know. I know.
- 51:12Speaker 1: We hate dealing with it too. Yeah.
- 51:16Speaker 3: I do have a question. We pulled up, my coach
- 51:19Speaker 3: pulled up a Cam Chancellor, a small highlight reveal the
- 51:24Speaker 3: other day about dealing with pulling guards. Like offensive lineman,
- 51:30Speaker 3: we used to watch those back in the day. He
- 51:33Speaker 3: was messing dudes up.
- 51:34Speaker 1: Yeah, he was.
- 51:34Speaker 3: Coming down girl. And just that era of, I'm sure
- 51:38Speaker 3: you get asked, in a lot about like Legion of Boom.
- 51:44Speaker 1: Was that, is that.
- 51:47Speaker 3: Like, y'all stay in touch to y'all? Like, was that
- 51:49Speaker 3: your favorite era, I'm assuming, of ball in your whole life?
- 51:53Speaker 3: Like Stanford, all that?
- 51:55Speaker 1: No question. I mean, because it felt like Pop Warner,
- 51:58Speaker 1: you know, with your buddies, but just you're in the
- 52:01Speaker 1: league and you're playing really great football with guys you trust,
- 52:04Speaker 1: guys you go to dinner with, guys you go to
- 52:07Speaker 1: their kids' birthday parties. And there's such an incredible level
- 52:12Speaker 1: of trust but work that went into it. Like, we
- 52:15Speaker 1: practiced so freaking hard because we're, like, almost, like, challenging
- 52:18Speaker 1: each other at practice. Like, what's the standard going to be?
- 52:22Speaker 1: And Earl practices harder than– bro, you turn on any
- 52:26Speaker 1: practice from any practice from any year. It doesn't matter
- 52:29Speaker 1: what it is. It could be in August, April, September.
- 52:33Speaker 1: You're going to know where Earl V. Thomas III is.
- 52:35Speaker 1: And when he's playing at such a high level, you
- 52:37Speaker 1: have to match it. And it's tough to match it
- 52:39Speaker 1: every day, but you challenge yourself to do it. And
- 52:42Speaker 1: then when you're practicing that hard, when you get in
- 52:44Speaker 1: the games, you're like, these guys ain't playing fast enough.
- 52:47Speaker 1: We got in the Super Bowl with Peyton and those guys.
- 52:49Speaker 1: You're like, hey, y'all not playing fast enough. Why are
- 52:51Speaker 1: y'all subbing out on the 14th play of the drive
- 52:54Speaker 1: and it's a third down? You got your fourth and
- 52:57Speaker 1: fifth receivers out here with the Legion of Boom, and
- 53:00Speaker 1: you got Demarius and Decker on the sideline, and it's
- 53:02Speaker 1: third and seven in the Super Bowl. You guys aren't
- 53:05Speaker 1: really built like that. And so it was a fun
- 53:09Speaker 1: time because we're running simple, super simple coverages. I mean,
- 53:13Speaker 1: we didn't really pressure like that. We probably had six coverages.
- 53:17Speaker 1: We had two off on third and long. We had three,
- 53:21Speaker 1: not a match three, but just a three, old school,
- 53:23Speaker 1: high school. We had man, robber. Nothing crazy. Nothing crazy.
- 53:30Speaker 1: We're just better than everybody. We're just better. We're just better.
- 53:33Speaker 1: And we know where the holes are. We know the
- 53:35Speaker 1: weaknesses of it, and we are covering them up by, like,
- 53:39Speaker 1: being great players. We're like, hey, Earl, you lean, cover that. Hey, Cam,
- 53:42Speaker 1: you're going to carry this seam. Hey, if this receiver
- 53:45Speaker 1: runs a comeback, I'm driving it. Just you got to
- 53:48Speaker 1: go with that seam because I'm leaving you. If he
- 53:49Speaker 1: doesn't run a comeback, I'll go over 80-20 it and
- 53:52Speaker 1: pick it off if I can. But, like, we knew
- 53:55Speaker 1: what was coming so many times that if somebody made
- 53:58Speaker 1: a mistake or somebody jumped the gap, like, somebody's going
- 54:01Speaker 1: to clean it up pretty fast. And it's usually Cam
- 54:03Speaker 1: or Bobby. Um, Earl will save the day a ton
- 54:06Speaker 1: of times, but it was just such a amazing time
- 54:09Speaker 1: to be football. It always felt like you were connected
- 54:11Speaker 1: and intertwined and like never out of position.
- 54:16Speaker 3: It was like whenever y'all were on, I mean, we
- 54:18Speaker 3: played you a few times, but it was, uh, I
- 54:21Speaker 3: always enjoyed watching. It was just like, it looked like every,
- 54:24Speaker 3: like you said, like every player in that, in that
- 54:27Speaker 3: window was like built for that spot. Right. And it
- 54:33Speaker 3: was enjoyable to watch for sure.
- 54:34Speaker 1: I appreciate it. Unless we were playing here.
- 54:36Speaker 3: Right, right, right.
- 54:39Speaker 1: Except those times. But you've always played the position, bro,
- 54:45Speaker 1: at such a high level. I remember we got to
- 54:46Speaker 1: play in that Pro Bowl together. That was fun. The
- 54:50Speaker 1: one Jack Rabbit decided to not show up to practice
- 54:53Speaker 1: the whole week. I think that was the one in Hawaii, right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
- 54:59Speaker 3: I remember there was a deep ball where, like, I
- 55:01Speaker 3: was trying to figure out.
- 55:02Speaker 1: That was my first one.
- 55:03Speaker 3: So I was trying to figure out, like, how hard
- 55:05Speaker 3: are we playing? And we made some contact. I was like,
- 55:09Speaker 3: my bad, man. That was too much. That was too
- 55:12Speaker 3: much for this scenario.
- 55:16Speaker 1: Bro, it was a great time, bro. I remember that
- 55:19Speaker 1: because I had so much respect for your game. And,
- 55:22Speaker 1: you know, you always see guys play, but you never
- 55:24Speaker 1: get to play with them. And that was a good time, man.
- 55:28Speaker 1: I really enjoyed that Pro Bowl. And getting to spend
- 55:32Speaker 1: time with you and getting to pick your brain a
- 55:34Speaker 1: little bit, that was a lot of fun. Likewise, for sure. Yes, sir. Well,
- 55:38Speaker 1: I won't take any more of your off day. I
- 55:40Speaker 1: know you got to rest up. Got a big game
- 55:42Speaker 1: this week. I appreciate you joining on with me, brother.
- 55:45Speaker 1: Go get that 40th. Yes, sir.
- 55:48Speaker 3: I'll see you a few weeks down the line, I guess,
- 55:50Speaker 3: in person.
- 55:51Speaker 1: Yep, yep. I'll see you in a couple weeks. We'll
- 55:52Speaker 1: chop it up. Yes, sir. Thank you. Thank you. Monday
- 55:57Speaker 1: night delivers the final statement of the football week. You've
- 56:00Speaker 1: spent all weekend reacting to big plays and big decisions,
- 56:04Speaker 1: and now there's one more matchup to break down. It's
- 56:07Speaker 1: the kind of night you plan around, so dinner should
- 56:09Speaker 1: elevate it, not pull you away from it. And DiGiorno
- 56:12Speaker 1: pizza lets you enjoy restaurant-quality taste, fresh from your own oven.
- 56:18Speaker 1: While you settle in and watch how the defense disguises coverage,
- 56:22Speaker 1: how the offense adjusts, and... Who makes the play when
- 56:26Speaker 1: everybody knows the pressure is coming? Stay locked in to
- 56:29Speaker 1: the moments everyone will react afterwards to. The fourth down call,
- 56:34Speaker 1: the coverage bust, the turnover that changes everything. Monday night
- 56:39Speaker 1: is too good to treat like an ordinary weeknight. So
- 56:43Speaker 1: don't just make do, make DiGiorno. It's not delivery, baby.
- 56:48Speaker 1: It's DiGiorno.
- 56:51Speaker 2: It's the fourth quarter on the Richard Sherman Podcast. Let's
- 56:54Speaker 2: take it to the Baltimore Ravens. Four and two, fresh
- 56:57Speaker 2: off a loss against the Cleveland Browns. Will Lamar Jackson
- 57:00Speaker 2: be back? Question marks in the air. They host the
- 57:03Speaker 2: Cincinnati Bengals, led by Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase. Cincinnati
- 57:08Speaker 2: going into Baltimore. Do you think they can pull off
- 57:11Speaker 2: this mini upset? Baltimore's favored by a point and a half.
- 57:14Speaker 2: Polymarket gives Baltimore a slight edge at 57% likelihood to win.
- 57:19Speaker 2: Can Cincy go in there and get a win?
- 57:21Speaker 1: All right, Mitchell Ott. This is a tough one to
- 57:24Speaker 1: call because is Lamar Jackson going to play? Is he
- 57:26Speaker 1: not going to play? I think that would affect what
- 57:30Speaker 1: I think in this game. Cincinnati has been up and
- 57:35Speaker 1: down on defense. They've been better than years past, but
- 57:38Speaker 1: still kind of middle of the pack. Baltimore, it's hard
- 57:42Speaker 1: to guess what they're going to be offensively. I think
- 57:48Speaker 1: Huntley has played solid football. Snoop Huntley has done his best.
- 57:53Speaker 1: to kind of weather the storm until Lamar comes back,
- 57:55Speaker 1: but he's just not quite Lamar Jackson, and obviously nobody's
- 57:59Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson. If Lamar Jackson plays, I think Baltimore wins
- 58:02Speaker 1: this game. If he doesn't, I think Cincinnati walks away
- 58:05Speaker 1: with the win, and that's what I got for you
- 58:09Speaker 1: because until they tell me if Lamar Jackson's playing, it's
- 58:12Speaker 1: hard for me to give you a true answer. If
- 58:15Speaker 1: he's playing, give me Baltimore.
- 58:18Speaker 2: I'm with you on that. If Lamar plays, it's Baltimore.
- 58:20Speaker 2: If not, it's Cincinnati. I look for Cincinnati to get
- 58:23Speaker 2: Chase Brown more involved. They need to establish a run game.
- 58:26Speaker 2: Chase Brown's had an underwhelming start to the season with
- 58:29Speaker 2: only 246 rush yards and one touchdown. Keep an eye
- 58:32Speaker 2: on Chase Brown in this game, Richard. I think he's
- 58:34Speaker 2: going to have a bigger impact than he's had in
- 58:37Speaker 2: these previous five games of the season. Let's take it
- 58:40Speaker 2: to New Orleans. I'm sorry, let's take it to France.
- 58:43Speaker 2: The New Orleans Saints on paper are hosting the Pittsburgh
- 58:46Speaker 2: Steelers Polly Market likes Pittsburgh, giving them a 55% likelihood
- 58:51Speaker 2: to win this game and a 2.5 point favorite. New Orleans,
- 58:56Speaker 2: they looked pretty darn good last week against the Giants,
- 58:59Speaker 2: coming away with a 34-27 win after starting off 10-0
- 59:03Speaker 2: in that game. Tyler Schoch continues his impressive start to
- 59:07Speaker 2: the season. Do you think New Orleans can get things right?
- 59:10Speaker 2: here and continue their winning ways in France against Pittsburgh?
- 59:15Speaker 1: Continue their winning ways. They're 2-4.
- 59:17Speaker 2: Well, they just won last week, Richard. They just got
- 59:21Speaker 2: one win, and another one makes a winning streak here.
- 59:24Speaker 1: Come on. I'm with you, but these games... These games? No,
- 59:31Speaker 1: I don't. I think Pittsburgh, Aaron Rodgers is playing solid football.
- 59:37Speaker 1: It's not great, not bad, but obviously his standards are
- 59:39Speaker 1: so incredibly high. I think Jalen Warren and Rico Dowdle
- 59:45Speaker 1: are a great combination, and they're going to help kind
- 59:48Speaker 1: of stabilize this offense going forward. DK Metcalf and Aaron
- 59:52Speaker 1: Rodgers seem to be finding a rhythm, even if it's
- 59:55Speaker 1: just in the fourth quarter ball games, if they can
- 59:57Speaker 1: continue that. I think they go into France and pull
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: out a victory. Their defense, 11 sacks on the year.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: They're starting to wake up. They're starting to get production
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: from the guys they paid big money to. This is
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: the highest-paid defense in the league, and I think last
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: week you started to see why. Give me Pittsburgh in
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: this game, 24-14.
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: I like Pittsburgh as well. New Orleans is 30th against
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: a run. Jalen Warren's had a great start to this season.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: I think I expect Jalen Warren or one run wild
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: in France. Give me Pittsburgh as well. And kind of
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: a sloppy game. I think it's going to be like
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: 20 to 17, but I got Pittsburgh. Let's take it
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: to Carolina. The Carolina Panthers and number one in their division,
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: this NFC South have actually looked pretty darn good on
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: the season. They host division foe, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: Tampa Bay, 1-5. Polly Market likes Carolina. 61% likelihood to
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: win this game. Do you think Carolina comes out on top?
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I think this is one of those situations. Carolina
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: is just rolling offensively. They're putting up a lot of points,
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: and I don't think the Tampa Bay Buccaneers can keep up.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: Jalen Daniels is going to have to do a lot
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: more if they're going to keep up with this high-powered
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Carolina team. panthers offense and they played well against really
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: good teams bad teams whatever the case may be they're
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: what fourth in the league and scoring offense they're they're
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: solid on defense you know i ain't nothing to write
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: home about but they're doing so well on offense that
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: i think that's going to be enough to win them
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: this game give me carolina running away they've been scoring
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: 30 points just about every game and now todd bowles
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: is going to do his best to change that this
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: this this defense for tampa bay has been better their
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: fifth in total defense Second against the run. They do
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: not give up yards on the run. Can Chubba Hubbard
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: change that? Can Ted Arroyo and McMillan push the ball
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: down the field along with some of these other bigger receivers? Sure.
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: But give me Carolina 27 to 13.
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: The more I watch Bryce Young, the more I like him.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: He has certainly answered the questions that have come over
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: the last couple years about why he was the number
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: one overall pick. He is a decisive decision maker in
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: that backfield. I like Bryce Young to take care of business.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: And I'm shocked this is a two-and-a-half point line, honestly, Richard.
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: Give me Carolina. Give me Carolina to cover. Let's talk
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: about the Houston Texans. They'll be hosting the New York Giants.
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: The Giants are leading the NFC East. Certainly have an
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: opportunity to win that division, seeing how everything has unfolded
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: to start this season.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: But Houston, after.
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: Starting 0-4, they got a huge win overseas last week
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Do they continue their mini hot
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: streak here and make it three in a row?
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: Yes. Yes. I think they do. I think they found
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: their rhythm on both sides of the football. CJ Stroud
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: played great football last week. He's doing a great job.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: Their defense is going to start to eat up. They're
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: going to find themselves and start to be the defense
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: that everybody expects them to be. A huge win against
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: a very, very good Jacksonville team last week in London.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: And I think C.J. Stroud's ascension is the most important
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: part of this. I know they've leaned on their defense
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: over the years, and they've been a huge part of it,
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: but if they can continue to do what they've done offensively,
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: and when they find a great run game, when they
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: start to get it going on the ground, it's going
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: to get even better.
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: C.J.
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: Stroud threw his first interception last week to Travis Hunter,
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: and it was great play by Travis Hunter, bad decision
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: by C.J. Stroud, obviously, but I think he's He's where
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: he needs to be. Jalen Noel is having a great season.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: Nico Collins. They got Marvin Harrison Jr. involved early last week.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: It seems like they have a really good plan for him.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: He seems like a guy they want to get involved
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: in the game plan. And I'm sure with another week
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: of preparation, another week for him to learn this playbook,
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: they're going to get him involved even more. He's fit
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: in really well. They still got booty. They're starting to
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: look like a really, really deep receiving core. If their
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: defense can even show... any signs of what they were
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: last week, I mean last year, and they can get
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: after J.J. McCarthy, who I think is going to start
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: this game. I think they start J.J. McCarthy. I think
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: he played too well in the fourth quarter not to
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: start him. I think they saw something that they really liked,
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: and I think that's what I would expect. Malik Nabors,
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: he found Malik Nabors early and often in that quarter.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: If he can start off like he finished last week,
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: it'll be a really exciting game. But I got the
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: Houston Texans in this one. Give me the Houston Texans
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: winning this one 28-17.
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: Before we leave this game, I got a question to ask.
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: We saw last week John Harbaugh was clearly unhappy with
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: Cam Scadabo. Cam Scadabo only played in six offensive snaps,
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: did not have any carries, was lining up at fullback.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: Everyone thinks this was because of the fumble he had
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: the week prior. What do you think of the way
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: John Harbaugh is handling things in New York right now?
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: It's an old school way to do things, but I
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: respect it. John Harbaugh has had a lot of success
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: in his league, and sometimes those methods work for him.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: It's a different way of coaching. I think some people
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: would say that way of coaching is going away, especially
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: with this new generation of kids. But that's the way
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: he thinks it should be done, and we'll see how
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: it works out.
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: The New York Jets, 2-4, hosting the 0-5 Miami Dolphins.
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: Is there anything to watch here, Richard? Are the New
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: York Jets going to get another win on the board?
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I think the New York Jets get another win.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: I think Geno Smith plays well. Their defense has 17
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: sacks on a season. I think David Bailey is starting
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: to become the guy they thought he was when they
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: took him very high in the draft. I expect New
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: York to walk away with a win, Miami to go
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: to 0-6, and we start talking about their draft possibilities
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: and who's available for them to pick up to play
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: quarterback for them next year. I think that's the conversation,
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: and I think that's what they expect to go into
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: this season with a very big dead cap number, trading
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: away and getting rid of a lot of their better players,
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: more talented players. They're learning what they can about the
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: players they have, and they'll draft a lot of guys,
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: and we'll see what they are next year.
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: One great thing about the Jets this season with Geno
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: Smith under center is we've gotten to see who the
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: real Garrett Wilson is. I mean, he's had a solid season,
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: 418 yards, receiving three touchdowns. I expect the Jets to
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: win this one rather easily. Give me Geno and the
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: Jets to win this one 31-14. We will take it
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: to Tennessee, a team that got a win last week
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: against this lowly Indianapolis Colts team that we discussed previously.
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: They take on the 4-2 team. Cleveland Browns. The chance
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: for the Browns to start the season 5-2, Polymarket only
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: gives them a 50% likelihood to win this game, and
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: Cleveland's only a 1.5 point favorite. Are you surprised at
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: that at all?
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: No, I'm not super surprised by that just because of
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: how hot and cold this offense has been under Deshaun Watson.
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: At times they sputter. He finds a way to get
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: hot near the end of ballgames, whether it's with his
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: legs or with his arms. He'll make some plays, and
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: they'll find a way to win ballgames. But I think,
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: for the most part, they've struggled, and I think this
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: Tennessee defense can cause that. They have some guys that
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: can play and get after a passer. But I think
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: this Cleveland Browns defense is really good, really aggressive, and
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: I think they're going to make the difference in this game.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: Give me Cleveland in a low-scoring defensive battle. Cleveland 15-9.
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: You've got to love what this team has done in
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: the offseason, too. Investing heavily in the wide receiving room.
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: Looked like they got an absolute stud in Denzel Boston
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: and Casey Concepcion. We'll see how this plays out for
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: them going into next season. I think it's easy to
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: say they are the winners of the Jared versus Miles
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: Garrett trade. Let's talk about the Arizona Cardinals. They'll be
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: hosting the 4-2 Denver Broncos off a huge win. Both
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: teams off huge wins. Who comes out on top of
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: this one here, Richard?
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: Between Denver and Arizona? Give me Denver. You know, they'll
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: try to get back on track offensively in this game,
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: try to inject some confidence into Bo Nix. But Arizona
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: is a sneaky, sneaky good team. And obviously they beat,
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: they upset the Rams last week, and they've shown that
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: they can, you know, help you cancel Christmas at times.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: And maybe they're not a great team, but they're a
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: team that, can ruin people's day. And we'll see how
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: it goes. Jacoby Brissett is solid. Michael Wilson has been
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: having a solid season. They can run the football. Defensively,
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: Buda Baker is still the guy there. But Denver has
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: ranked 31st against the run. Arizona is going to have
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: to try to run the football. and force them to
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: stop them. If they can run the football, control the game,
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: and limit the mistakes, they'll have a chance in this game.
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: But I think the Denver defense is too good. Give
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: me Denver in this one. Give me Denver in this
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: one by a touchdown. We'll call it 19-12.
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: I like Denver as well, but someone's going to have
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: to remind Bo next that he can throw the ball downfield.
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: With the weapons, Jalen Waddell and Cortland Sutton I'm looking
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: for Bo Nix to be a little bit more, throw
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: caution to the wind and have a little bit more
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: Jameis Winston to his game and just throw some YOLO
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: balls out there. Denver needs some life offensively if they
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: want to be competitive throughout the rest of the season.
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: I look for them to turn things around this week
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: in Arizona. Give me Denver as well. And finally, a
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: game that coming into this season, everyone thought was going
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: to be a great one.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: Now it's leaving.
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: Everyone scratching their heads as to what these two teams
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: are doing. The Dallas Cowboys travel to Philadelphia to take
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: on the Eagles. This is not the same Eagles team
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: we anticipated coming into the season. Tanner McKee under center now. Richard,
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: do you like Dallas in this game? Polly Market gives
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: them a 66% likelihood to win this one.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I still think you've got to give
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: respect to the Philadelphia Eagles defense. And Dallas still hasn't
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: played great offense. And Polly Market has Dallas slightly ahead.
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: But I don't know if I feel comfortable saying that
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: the Dallas Cowboys are going to beat the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: I don't because I can't believe in them because it's
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: too inconsistent. Even their offense, who has all this talent,
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: Javante Williams, George Pickens, C.D. Lamb, all these guys that
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: should be going. It should be a high-powered offense. Sometimes
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: they fall asleep at the wheel, and things just kind
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: of slowly but surely dissipate. And I know Philadelphia doesn't
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: have much to write home about, but Dallas doesn't play
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: great defense either. And so I think if you look
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: at that, their rush defense is terrible. They're 32nd in
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: the league. Tanner McKee played, you know, Stanford guy. Played
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: solid football last week, and I think that's something you
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: can build on. This is a tougher one to call.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: I know if it doesn't go well for Dallas, again,
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: this is a time to panic. This is a time
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: for concern because this was the year. If you're going
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: to win the NFC East when everybody's down, when the
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: Eagles lose Jalen Hurts, when the– The Commanders have won, what, one,
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: two games this season? And you're still struggling. You're still
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: at the bottom of the pack. And I think this
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: can send the Dallas Cowboys spiraling if they don't win it. Ken,
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: their defense, they showed sparks last week, but not a ton.
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: I really just don't feel comfortable betting with Dallas. Give
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: me Philly in this one by three. Give me Philly
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: 20 to 17. Wow.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: All right, I'm taking Dallas. I think they are bound
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: to get right at some point. Give me Dallas by
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: a touchdown in Philly. Richard, it's that time. We got
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: to talk about our power ranks. I'll start, and you
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: can let me know what I did wrong. I'm going
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: to start off top with the hottest team in football
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: right now, the San Francisco 49ers, 6-0, looking dominant in
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: every way, offensively, defensively, you name it, overcoming injuries. Fortunately,
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: not season-long injuries, so they're going to have weapons coming
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: back This 49ers team is scary. Pencil them in at
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: number one for me. Number two, uh, the Kansas city chiefs,
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: Patrick Mahomes, canine, Kenneth Walker, the Michigan state Spartan. I
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: like this team a lot. This is something that we've
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: not seen from them in the whole Patrick Mahomes era.
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: And that is a running game. They're very dangerous. Give
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: me Casey at two undefeated big game this weekend against
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: Seattle at number three. And this is where things kind
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: of get interesting. I'm going to go with the Buffalo bills. Uh,
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: Josh Allen playing great football. Buffalo is going to be
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: extremely hard to beat. Give me Josh Allen and this
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: Bills team against pretty much anyone except on the road
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: against the Chiefs and except on the road against the 49ers.
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: Give me the Bills at three. At number four, I'm
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: reluctant to put them there, but they're undefeated, and you've
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: got to give them some sort of respect. The Minnesota Vikings,
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: led by their defense and Brian Flores.
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: They're tough, man. Kyler Murray might not be that guy,
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: but this defense, they are tough. They deserve it. Give
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: me Minnesota at four. And this number five is a
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: big coin flip. There's a bunch of teams hodgepodge together.
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: I'm going with one of the hotter teams in football
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: over the last three weeks. That is the New England Patriots,
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: who knocked off a red-hot Las Vegas Raider team, went
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: on the road and knocked off the Bills, and then
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: answered the call against division foe New York Jets last week.
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: Give me the Pats. Huge game this week on Thursday night.
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: You will be there, Richard, against the Chicago Bears. I
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: look for them to solidify their mark at number five
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: in my power ranks. Patriots occupy the number five spot.
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: What did I get wrong, Richard?
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: Well, Mitchell, you got the first four right. San Francisco 49ers,
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: number one, the best team in football with the leading
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: MVP candidate of the National Football League and a young
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: defensive line that's playing as good as anybody and still
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: missing players. The former defensive player of the year, Nicholas
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: John Bosa, they get Dre Greenlaw back. He's going to
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: add a boost to that team. But the safety play,
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: Malik Mustafa and Jair Brown have played really, really good
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: football along with Renardo Green. And then our guy, friend
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: of the program, Diamador Lenore at two, the Kansas City Chiefs, K-9.
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: He should be the leading candidate for offensive player of
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: the year because they don't give MVPs to backs for
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: some reason. along with Patrick Mahomes in this offense, but
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: how are they going to replace Tyquan Thornton? That's the
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: question mark. Is Tyreek Hill in the conversation? There are
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: mixed conversations about whether they're interested in him or not.
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: I think he would help that team if he is healthy.
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: That defense, young secondary playing really good, but they're not
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: getting enough sacks for me to feel comfortable with that defense.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: I think they are known Spags is going to have
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: to change that. Number three, the Buffalo Bills. They go
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: as Josh Allen goes, and right now Josh Allen is going.
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: Their defense is going to have to step it up
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: one of these games, or that's going to be their
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: fatal flaw and the reason Cinderella loses the glass slipper
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: off her foot. Number four, the Minnesota Vikings. Brian Flores
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: blitzing more than any team in probably the last 30 years,
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: maybe the history of the National Football League, and it's
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: working out. He's going each and every game with a
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: game plan to be aggressive, And this defense with Blake
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: Cashman and Dallas Turner and, I mean, these playmakers in
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: the back end. You got Isaiah Rogers. You got Byron Murphy,
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: Harrison Smith, Old Faithful. They're still going at it. They're
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: one of the best defenses in football. I think they
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: continue to be that way and continue to lead the charge.
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: Number five, I do not agree with you with the
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: New England Patriots. I got them losing Thursday night to
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: the Chicago Bears and Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams. I
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: think they're going to be too much for them. That's
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: why I'm not going to put them in that spot
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: just to bounce them out in the week. Give me
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: the Bears at five. Wow.
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: Well, it looks like our five spots are going head-to-head
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: on Thursday Night Football. We shall see. Richard, look for
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: the Detroit Lions potentially to have a resurfacing here into
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: your power ranks after two back-to-back NFC North wins. That's
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: a prediction for you.
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: Richard, it is always a pleasure sitting down with you
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: every week, midweek, talking about our predictions for this upcoming weekend.
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: I will let you sign us off, my friend.
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: As always, we appreciate you guys joining us for another
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: week preview. I hope you guys have a beautiful, blessed week.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: We will see you next time. Hit that like and
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: sub button if you're new. Appreciate you.
