In her first year in the job, Radio 4 controller Gwyneth Williams has instigated the biggest shake-up of the Radio 4 schedule for more than 10 years. She has cut Americana, commissioned The Life Scientific and most recently extended The World at One by 15 minutes - to the delight of some listeners and the dismay of others. She has also steered the station through the proposed Delivering Quality First cuts relatively unscathed.
