Transcript
- 0:00Hi. So on the 18th of August 20 22,
- 0:04I had the privilege of talking with cell Grover.
- 0:08She's the founder and creator of the giggle app here in
- 0:12Australia. Sell had a lot of very
- 0:14interesting. Interesting things to say, we're
- 0:17talking about the birthing parent issue that came up here
- 0:21in Australia and all the way over to issues in Hollywood with
- 0:25sexual assault. The conversation went for quite
- 0:28a bit. So I decided to Cut the cut the
- 0:31episode up into four different parts.
- 0:33So this is part one. Thank you for listening to the
- 0:36slippery slope. Hi, I'm Jay felon, and thank you
- 0:45for listening to the slippery slope.
- 0:47So today I have the pleasure of welcoming cell Grover on to our
- 0:53program. Sell thanks for joining me on
- 0:56the slippery. Slope thank you so much for
- 0:58having me. I I was very interested after I
- 1:01read the story, about what happened with you after the
- 1:04birth of your child and what happened with with the whole
- 1:08birthing parent thing. However, like I was talking to
- 1:12you once I started reading more about you thought.
- 1:15Wow, there's a lot. Listen, there's a lot more to
- 1:18you than just birthing parents, you know, incident and all that.
- 1:22And and obviously I'd love you to talk a bit about everything
- 1:25or all that as well. But yeah, if we can give you can
- 1:27just tell us a bit about yourself and yeah.
- 1:29Yeah. Well, I mean, if you Googled me,
- 1:32probably seen, I'm like some transphobic bigoted racist,
- 1:36who's just like out to destroy the world, which couldn't be
- 1:42further from the truth. But anyway, this is the world we
- 1:46live in. So basically, just in terms of
- 1:49to put the context into the birthing parent thing.
- 1:51So yeah, I had gone to hospital. Obviously, to have my baby and
- 1:58then a few days later like It's still in hospital had to sign
- 2:02the. They gave me the form for to put
- 2:05her on my Medicare card. And that was the form that said,
- 2:08birthing parents name and birthing parent signature.
- 2:11And there's brings all these reports was like, new mum,
- 2:14outraged, and they know I don't walk around, but actually
- 2:17outraged and angry with me. Come on.
- 2:20No, I did a massive. I roll is what I did.
- 2:22I was just like, oh, you've gotta be kidding me.
- 2:24Because, and the only reason really is because I'm so tapped
- 2:29into To the gender ideology stuff that is happening that I
- 2:32knew where it was coming from. Okay.
- 2:34Say to everybody had the form just said parents name and
- 2:38parents signature I wouldn't have flinched because that that
- 2:40is just normal language and it would have been completely
- 2:44appropriate because even if in this sort of you when you go
- 2:48with birthing parent there that's their way of saying
- 2:51mother this like ideological way of saying mother to not
- 2:56apparently offend anyone would actually offends ninety percent
- 2:59of mothers. Um, and it's like, so I guess I
- 3:03knew it was ideological and it actually isn't inclusive
- 3:08language, which is kind of, my whole point is unlike with the
- 3:12form of putting the baby on a Medicare, boom, boom, your
- 3:16Medicare card. It could have been her dad that
- 3:19signed that form. Like why did it even have to be
- 3:22me, you know what I mean? Yeah, and I was so he was
- 3:25excluded from it but beyond that you've got adoptive parents It's
- 3:31gay dads. Who are adopting a baby?
- 3:34Where's their form? There's a lot of, like, sort of
- 3:36the critics of me went. Oh, what about surrogates?
- 3:39And I'm like, yeah, the surrogate isn't putting the baby
- 3:41on the Medicare card. That's a carded, the whole
- 3:43thing, the surrogacy is it they give up all rights so that's
- 3:48just not happening. So I just don't didn't buy the
- 3:53excuse that. It was inclusive and so I just
- 3:56did a tweet about it because I tweet about this stuff.
- 3:59I've been Tweeting. But the stuff for three years, I
- 4:01mean, I've been taken. I've had a human rights
- 4:04complaint against me. I've had an attempt to take me
- 4:06to federal court for gender identity discrimination.
- 4:09I've tweeted all about that. I've spoken out in the media
- 4:12about that. And no one has cared and
- 4:15suddenly the birth of a tweet got traction.
- 4:18And then, so the Today show, I think it was asked me to be on.
- 4:23I was like, yep, no problem. I'm happy to talk about this.
- 4:25And after between do like, after doing that, 45 minutes, Later,
- 4:30bill shorten announced that it would change and I was just it's
- 4:34a the Today show called me back. And it, can you come back on
- 4:37because Bill shorten is changing.
- 4:38And I'm like, what do you mean? Something's happened.
- 4:40Like I didn't even tweet it thinking that anything would be
- 4:43changed. I didn't do it for that reason.
- 4:45Like I, there was just nothing behind it.
- 4:48Other than to be like, oh, look what's happening?
- 4:51And then, so from there, I actually found out that the,
- 4:54this particular form was a trial form and it was only being
- 4:58trialled in 3 hot, It was apparently in the whole country.
- 5:02And so I just imagine these gender activists going, like,
- 5:06oh, we've almost got it. Like no one's complained.
- 5:09You're gonna get it actually changed.
- 5:11And then, like the loudest critic of this in the country,
- 5:14just happens to give birth in one of the three countries.
- 5:18One of the three hospitals in the country and they just like
- 5:20all that don't pay. We almost got away with this and
- 5:23then I came along which good I'm like, please, that they changed
- 5:28it because it is, Ellis. As I said, if they were like
- 5:31announcing that we're changing the form to say, parent.
- 5:34So it's inclusive of any possible person who would be
- 5:37signing that form on behalf of a child, I would go.
- 5:40That's a great idea that makes a lot of sense but you put the
- 5:43word birthing in front of it. And I say no.
- 5:46Yeah it's ridicu because that is ideological stupid language that
- 5:51pleases what? One of the 55 men apparently who
- 5:55have given birth in the last few years, in Australia, good for
- 5:58them. Yeah.
- 6:02Okay. Listen.
- 6:03I do the program from a from hopefully from not just not just
- 6:09my perspective, but from a Christian, a Biblical
- 6:12perspective. And when you're talking about
- 6:14men, giving birth, I've got because when you when you start
- 6:20to drill down into it all but the first I remember there's a
- 6:23few on me a couple of months ago.
- 6:25This big headline come across the news and you know man gives
- 6:28birth. I'm like what?
- 6:29What the flip is going on here? What do you mean?
- 6:31Give and then when you read all about it, okay, but you read all
- 6:39about it, okay. So it's a yeah, you know, so
- 6:42it's a woman, it's a woman who thinks yes Beth.
- 6:48No. Yeah.
- 6:50And one of the things I will say is that trans men who are
- 6:55female, they actually only really ever make the news when
- 6:58they've had a baby. It's really the only headlines
- 7:01you ever see about trans men. You ever see like trans men
- 7:03promoted to CEO or trans. Man wins award or trans man wins
- 7:08this particular sporting event and does something great there.
- 7:10No it's always Transit and had a baby which means that everyone
- 7:14in media knows exactly who they are their female and they
- 7:16treating them accordingly. It's interesting, you say, like
- 7:20coming at it from like a Christian biblical perspective.
- 7:22So I'm myself, I'm not religious.
- 7:24But my boyfriend is it's one of the black we have, we completely
- 7:28sort of Current in that respect. I'm atheist and he is not oh
- 7:31well yeah he's quiet he's quite religious actually.
- 7:37So in terms of that perspective of what where you're coming out
- 7:40of I think he comes at read it from quite a similar Place.
- 7:44Yeah. Yeah.
- 7:45Yeah I've because I'm looking at it thinking.
- 7:47Okay. Obviously I believe what the
- 7:49Bible teaches God, created The World, God created man and woman
- 7:54in his own image and this this outrage that You know, that that
- 8:01somehow makes it that women that the Bible doesn't look at women
- 8:05being equal, when in reality, women and men are equal
- 8:09absolutely. Well in the Bible, as far as I
- 8:12can see. That's that's what it is.
- 8:13But this, but they have different roles.
- 8:16And one of the roles that men will never be able to achieve is
- 8:19giving birth no matter how much we try and change the outside
- 8:25and how much damage we do to the outside and one.
- 8:27Yeah. And there's things that women
- 8:29can't Not do no matter what you do.
- 8:32I mean that is just put is just absolute.
- 8:34Basic fact, I mean it went beyond it being like biblical or
- 8:37anything. It's just in reality it is you
- 8:40can see it with your own eyes that there's some things that
- 8:42women can do that men, can't and there's some things that men can
- 8:45do that women. Can't, it's like, say with the
- 8:47sporting issue when we see that women aren't as fast as
- 8:52physically strong as men. It's like, we don't love that,
- 8:55that's the case. I think the world would we be
- 9:00slightly better if we were physically all like equal and as
- 9:06fast as each other and blah blah blah like you know they've it
- 9:09could be a great thing. It's not and we deal with the
- 9:12reality the hand that we are dealt and we go along with it
- 9:15like and it's been one of the sort of I found a hate to use
- 9:18the word offensive, but sometimes I've just another word
- 9:21escapes, you but offensive things in this process of being
- 9:26told in the last month that men give birth Earth and men have
- 9:29had babies and whatnot. I'm like, yeah, it was I didn't
- 9:33actually enjoy being pregnant or having a baby, it was not the
- 9:37highlight of my life. I love now that she's here and I
- 9:40would always say it's my boyfriend's.
- 9:41Like this is a means to an end to give a gift.
- 9:44Yeah, and so when I hear this menu can give birth, I'm like if
- 9:48he could have done it I would have let him.
- 9:51It's not like we flipped a coin and I lost and so I had to do
- 9:56it. I was the only one out of the
- 9:57two of us who could Yeah, it's it's just I find it.
- 10:03I think that the people who are going to go out there and say
- 10:06that men can have babies, or we have to use language, to include
- 10:11men, giving birth, and all of this nonsense, I'm like, you
- 10:15can't then go and claim that you have a problem with any kind of
- 10:19fake news or other misinformation.
- 10:20It's going out there because you're putting misinformation
- 10:23out there. Like there is just a huge y-yeah
- 10:26to tell people. It's not
