Transcript
- 0:16Welcome to PCR, Good evening and I'm Dipam and welcome to the PCR
- 0:21Sports Show, the start of your sporting weekend and your local
- 0:24sporting fix. Very welcome on to the show,
- 0:28especially if it's your first time, and hope you've had a
- 0:30great start to the bank holiday weekend.
- 0:33The sun has come out as well, which is absolutely fantastic
- 0:36and we've got a fantastic show lined up for you this evening
- 0:39with some brilliant guests from the Haito Karate Club in
- 0:43Peterborough. They've not been on for a couple
- 0:44of years so it'd be great to catch up with them.
- 0:46We've got Gabby who runs the club and started it all up many
- 0:50years ago and we'll be hearing from her in a moment and three
- 0:52of our students are in today with her as well.
- 0:54Timmy, Adam and Rebecca and they'll be telling us about
- 0:57their experiences with the club and the sport, or the art of
- 1:00karate should I say, and we'll be hearing from them all
- 1:04throughout the next hour or so. But firstly, if I come to Gabby,
- 1:09good evening Gabby, how are you? Hello, I'm good.
- 1:11Thank you. How are you?
- 1:12Very. Well, thank you.
- 1:13Thanks for coming back. Thank you for having us.
- 1:15Two years since you were last on, I think roughly.
- 1:16I think so, yes. Time flies, isn't it?
- 1:19It does. So it's good to have you back.
- 1:21And I think when we last spoke, you would either just moved or
- 1:24about to move into a new premise in Woodston.
- 1:26Yes, that's correct. And been we've been there since
- 1:29then for two years now. And how are you settled in now?
- 1:32Oh definitely yes, Dodgers. Full, full equipment, full
- 1:35mirrors, mats, equipment. It's amazing now.
- 1:38Fantastic. Because I remember you when you
- 1:39first, I think this is your third time on the show, but when
- 1:42you first came on the show, you were split between two premises,
- 1:44one in Hampton, one in Breton, and then yes, and now you've
- 1:47combined into one Dojo now. Yes, yes.
- 1:49Excellent. That's good stuff.
- 1:50And just tell us a little bit about yourself personally, you
- 1:54know how your what's your journey been like in in the
- 1:56sport of karate and martial arts.
- 1:58And you know what's what's brought you to this place in
- 2:01Peterborough now? To have a Dojo of your own.
- 2:02Well, my karate journey started long time ago, more than 22
- 2:06years ago now with some breaks and studying and moving from
- 2:11countries since then. I moved to Peterborough about
- 2:15six years ago. Of course we survived COVID and
- 2:18I was waiting for COVID to finish.
- 2:21Once COVID finished, I decided that it's time to open.
- 2:23Hi to karate and here we are 3 1/2 years later.
- 2:27We are going to big tournaments and events and yeah we are
- 2:31winning. Fantastic, getting better and
- 2:33stronger. Brilliant.
- 2:34And COVID couldn't come at a worse time for you at the time
- 2:37really is because obviously so you've just come to the UK,
- 2:39probably had ambitions to do something like this.
- 2:41But yes, COVID put us in lockdown for nearly two years.
- 2:43Yes, that's right. Yeah, but you're now here, which
- 2:47is great, but your personal journey before coming to the UK
- 2:51is quite glorious, isn't it, in terms of your achievements in in
- 2:53the in the yard? Well, it it happens when you
- 2:56grow surrounded by glorious people, you become one of them.
- 3:01You know, my instructors all the time, you know, training our
- 3:03club. And still to this day, to be
- 3:06honest, I've been in the trainer just a month ago on my personal
- 3:09business, and I still visit my instructor who was teaching me
- 3:12for 10 years almost, and I visited him.
- 3:16He's still training champions. So it's still very nice to meet
- 3:20him. But yeah, so it's his job.
- 3:22You know who makes champions out of students?
- 3:25I was one of them. Very glad of that.
- 3:27And yeah, he still keeps doing that.
- 3:29Has he had a chance to come over here and and and see your Dojo?
- 3:32No, he doesn't really come to the UK.
- 3:35Then they travel with tournaments.
- 3:36We travel more towards E like Japan.
- 3:39Ohh, I see. OK, there's not many
- 3:41tournaments. Yeah, you need to host an
- 3:43international tournament in. Peterborough, yes, one day,
- 3:45hopefully. But obviously your personal
- 3:48achievements are are are very high in the in the arts as well,
- 3:51isn't it during that time? Yes, a few of them.
- 3:53Well, you can mention them, don't worry.
- 3:54I know you're quite modest and down to earth, but you can
- 3:56mention some. Of these, well, the highest one
- 3:58is vice champion in European tournament.
- 4:01That was the biggest one, but it was over a few international
- 4:05tournaments, like top one of the top three places, champions in
- 4:08international tournaments, multiple times national team
- 4:12member, multiple times national champion and yeah, yeah.
- 4:17Yeah, you got a pretty good trophy wreck.
- 4:18Trophy cabin haven't. You, yeah, we do have it in the
- 4:21Dodger. We do have.
- 4:22It so fantastic, brilliant. So obviously you came to Peter
- 4:26six years ago. Was it an immediate plan to set
- 4:29up a Dojo, or did you kind of want to continue performing the
- 4:32art yourself? First, well, I used to live in
- 4:34London before I came to Peterborough, yeah.
- 4:36So yes, I was instructor back in London, but I worked for another
- 4:40club and because I started university and all of that, I
- 4:43had took a little break. And during that break I moved to
- 4:46Peterborough. And yes, I had the idea straight
- 4:49away to start a martial arts club in Peterborough.
- 4:51But like you mentioned already, COVID happened and it put
- 4:55everything on hold for well and a half years, almost three
- 4:59years, because clubs were very restricted of what we could do,
- 5:02you know, by amount of people and everything.
- 5:04So yeah, but once COVID gone, yeah.
- 5:07You've done fantastic well to get in club to where it isn't
- 5:09now. I say you're in a in a bigger
- 5:11premises now and yes, hopefully that's your long term sort of
- 5:14home now, isn't it? For all, yes, yeah, definitely.
- 5:16We are not planning to move. Fantastic.
- 5:18Hopefully. How many members do you have in
- 5:19the club now, would you say? Around 40.
- 5:21That's amazing. Yeah, it's all right.
- 5:23It could be more. It's overtime, could be more.
- 5:25Of course it's overtime. People coming and going for
- 5:28different reasons, but yeah, the average is about 4045.
- 5:31Fantastic. That's really good.
- 5:32Because I remember when you first came here, you probably
- 5:34had 10-15 maybe if that's. Something like that, yes.
- 5:37So that's. Growing below 20, Yeah.
- 5:39Of course. So amazing stuff.
- 5:41Thank you. So your your current Dojo in
- 5:45Woodston? Yes, just roughly for the people
- 5:47who are listening, roughly whereabouts in Woodson.
- 5:49If people know the Long Rd. Andal Rd. going by the river and
- 5:54on Andal Road we have Tesco Express.
- 5:57Just opposite the Tesco Express there is a little Wharf Rd. if
- 6:01you go just to the end of the Wharf Rd. via train tracks and
- 6:04we are like literally next to the train tracks.
- 6:06Brilliant. So it's right in the heart of
- 6:08Peter, isn't it? Yes, yes, you definitely can
- 6:10walk from the bus station. You can walk from the train
- 6:12station and it's quite a nice walk by the river and yeah,
- 6:16driving, you know as well, pretty, pretty comfortable place
- 6:20It's. Easily accessible by by many
- 6:21ways. So which is really good.
- 6:23So in terms of your role, obviously you're the founder of
- 6:26the club. Presumably you're still coaching
- 6:28and and mentoring and teaching students as well.
- 6:31Absolutely, yes, of course, and travelling to tournaments on the
- 6:34weekends so no days off for me. Not at all.
- 6:38And you have other coaches and trainers there as well?
- 6:40Or do you do all yourself? We have some instructors who
- 6:43time to time visit us, so we run more like seminars or workshop
- 6:47classes. But the main instructor I'm
- 6:49alone. OK.
- 6:50Yeah, yeah, yeah. And you have 40 people attending
- 6:54the classes at the same time? Or do you split it throughout
- 6:56the week? Different categories?
- 6:57We split them. We split them most of the time
- 6:59by the age and by their abilities.
- 7:01So we have kids classes, juniors, which ones are mainly
- 7:05teenagers and when we have older teenagers as we call them and
- 7:09adults because some of the older teenagers we are taller than I
- 7:11am, so we have to send them to the seniors class.
- 7:15And and I guess that that plays a factor.
- 7:17There's a physical size or somebody plays a factor.
- 7:19In yes, of course, absolutely does yes.
- 7:22Absolutely. And in terms of the age ranges
- 7:26of the members, what sort of age ranges do you have?
- 7:28So we have 5 to 9 years old the kids class.
- 7:31But again it depends on the child's size.
- 7:33If someone is 8 or 9 years old and they are a little bit taller
- 7:36than the average one, we may send them to the juniors class
- 7:39which one is 10 to 13. Again, the same with juniors, if
- 7:43they are like 1312 yes and they are a bit taller, we have send
- 7:47them you know, to the seniors class saying that come on, you
- 7:49have to pick up the game, you're a taller 1 go do the harder
- 7:53class. And most of the time we are glad
- 7:55and yeah, we go, you know to the seniors classes as well.
- 7:58Seniors classes are 14 plus and yeah, they we are training
- 8:02together with adults. We are challenging our adults
- 8:04with their speed and better stamina most of the time and
- 8:07than us. But yeah, that's lovely.
- 8:09Brilliant, that's good stuff. So any age range could in theory
- 8:13join the club, can't they? Really pretty.
- 8:14Much from five years old, anyone?
- 8:16We have have, you know, we have very good examples who are
- 8:19joining clubs in the 30s and competing in the tournaments
- 8:22also in the 40s. You know, that's parents, you
- 8:25know, sometimes it happens that their kids join the classes 1st
- 8:28and parents sitting on a chair watching and they tell them why
- 8:31not to come and try. Come on, you're already here,
- 8:33you know, put the tracksuit on. Come on, let's go India.
- 8:36We try and we join, you know, we join the club later on, which is
- 8:40lovely. And presumably for the club, you
- 8:42obviously you talk, we'll talk about the trophy wins in a
- 8:45moment that you've had recently three of them in the studio
- 8:47that's now with with the children.
- 8:48So, but I guess the the there's opportunities at the club for
- 8:53what somebody wants to just kind of do it as a hobby or keep Type
- 8:55X. Yeah, type thing.
- 8:57Or they want to compete as well. Now we have all opportunities we
- 9:00can come just do it as a hobby. You know, we are training
- 9:03together anyway, but it's kind of slightly different
- 9:06expectation. If someone is doing just for a
- 9:09hobby, we may ask him to do 1015 push ups.
- 9:11If someone is preparing for tournament, it may be 30-40
- 9:14fifty push ups. So it's, you know, still the
- 9:16same class, you still do the same thing, but you're
- 9:18challenging yourself the best you can do it.
- 9:22It's not like you you can't join the club if you can't do 50 push
- 9:25ups. So it doesn't work that way.
- 9:28It's you know, you doing and especially in the beginning, the
- 9:31best what you can do and later we just roll with it.
- 9:34You know, we look how you're doing and if you're one day you
- 9:37change your mind and you want to compete in tournaments, Amazing.
- 9:40We look which tournaments we can, you know, we can go to.
- 9:43So yeah. And depending on I guess the
- 9:45intensity of sorry, depending on the what level that person wants
- 9:49to achieve is the intensity of the training would depend on
- 9:51that I. Guess yes, definitely yes, yeah,
- 9:53yeah. I'm do not allow really much
- 9:55slacking or being lazy in the classes if I can see potential.
- 9:59But yeah, so of course I will motivate all my students, but of
- 10:03course it's more pressure on both who are going to the
- 10:05tournaments. Yeah, of course, which makes
- 10:07sense. Fantastic, brilliant.
- 10:09Thanks for the overview there, Gabby.
- 10:11What we'll do is take a short break, then we'll be back in a
- 10:12few minutes talking some more about Haita karate and we'll
- 10:16perhaps speak to the the students and the kids who are in
- 10:18the studio with us this evening as well.
- 10:20Stay tuned, it's PCR FM. You're listening to PCR sports.

- 11:06world. So no excuses from here on for
- 11:09you at all. Right back to this evenings
- 11:10guests and show. We're in the accompaniment of
- 11:14people from the Heito Karate Club.
- 11:16We've been hearing from Gabby, who's the founder and the lead
- 11:19in the club, telling us a bit about how it formed her
- 11:23journeying karate and what they're up to now.
- 11:25But we've got three students with us as well, Teamy, Adam and
- 11:29Rebecca, who are part of the club and mentored by Gabby and
- 11:33other people at the club. But we come to Adam first.
- 11:36Adam, how are you? Oh.
- 11:37Yeah, I'm OK. Good, good.
- 11:39Thanks for coming in today by the way and take giving some up
- 11:42some way for us. No brilliant.
- 11:43Great pleasure to have you here. So I mean tell us a little bit
- 11:47about your interest in karate. Adam, why did you get started?
- 11:50With so like I was about like like 12 years old when I started
- 11:54karate. And I started karate because I
- 11:57was inspired by Kerber Kai and like, it just looked really like
- 12:00fun and interesting like to do karate.
- 12:03So like, I just want to try, you know?
- 12:05And yeah. Brilliant accent.
- 12:06And you're not much older than 12 now.
- 12:08How old are you now? 1313.
- 12:09OK, so you've been doing it just over a year, let's say.
- 12:11Yeah, Two years. Two years.
- 12:12Fantastic. And so you saw it on TV, do you
- 12:14say? Yeah, I thought this sounds like
- 12:16fun. And.
- 12:17And so let me have a go at this. And so you've been there two
- 12:20years and how has it been? How's your journey been since
- 12:22you joined? It's been pretty good.
- 12:24Like it's improved my like self-confidence, you know, like
- 12:28before like I couldn't really do much like any football, but then
- 12:32like I just quit because like it was getting boring a bit And
- 12:35then I just like karate, you know, like like for like a
- 12:38self-confidence boost. And it was fun first and then it
- 12:42got like harder and harder, but then like tournaments came up,
- 12:45showed up and then it became more enjoyable.
- 12:48Like the people you like meet along, like friends, different
- 12:52senses, you know, like it's really like enjoyable.
- 12:55Like when you meet like new people, like they've never met
- 12:58before, like from the different cities and stuff like that.
- 13:00Like for example, like the people you met meet in like
- 13:03tournaments. You see them all the time, like
- 13:05in different tournaments. Yes, excellent.
- 13:07And and like you say, it's got easier for you, but that's
- 13:10probably hasn't got easier. But you've got better at it,
- 13:12haven't you? You've learnt more skills,
- 13:13you've got more fitter maybe and you've learnt techniques, you've
- 13:15listened to what the likes of Gabby has been teaching you, so
- 13:18it feels like it's getting easier, but in fact it's
- 13:20probably because you're getting better, is that right?
- 13:22Yeah, most likely right. Yeah.
- 13:23Fantastic stuff. Brilliant.
- 13:26Rebecca, if I come to you next your birthday tomorrow, you're
- 13:29gonna be 13, is that right? Yeah.
- 13:31Fantastic. Just tell us a little bit about
- 13:34you. Why did you get involved in
- 13:35karate? What?
- 13:35So what? Interested you?
- 13:37So I joined Like Karate to like make new friends and like try it
- 13:42out and then over time I've started really liking it and
- 13:46like boosting like my meant like strength and to prove people
- 13:52wrong that like goals are strong also.
- 13:56Yeah, absolutely. You got a, you're a lady here
- 13:58who runs the club who's very strong and very determined and
- 14:01committed to what she does. So karate is open to to male and
- 14:05female, isn't it really? Yeah, which is brilliant.
- 14:08So you've made new friends, different friends to what you
- 14:10would have at school as well. Yes.
- 14:11Because it makes it different, doesn't it?
- 14:13In terms of normally people, kids have the school friends and
- 14:16there may be people who live down the street.
- 14:17But joining a club like karate club or any Sports Club, you
- 14:21meet new people and, and perhaps those that are actually thinking
- 14:23the same as you as well. Yeah.
- 14:25Is that right? Yes.
- 14:26Fantastic. And what have you enjoyed most
- 14:29about being part of the club and and and karate itself?
- 14:32I've joined like I've like, I enjoyed most of like, like my
- 14:38like resilience, like I could like push more.
- 14:43And you found out that you found you've improved yourself in that
- 14:46way as well. Have you become more disciplined
- 14:47in terms of your your approach to life?
- 14:49And does that help you outside of karate as well in any way?
- 14:52Yes, it does. Yeah.
- 14:53And it helps you improve in other parts of your life as
- 14:54well. Yeah.
- 14:55Fantastic. Good stuff.
- 14:57And we'll talk about the trophies in a in a little while,
- 14:59which you're in front of everyone.
- 15:01Timmy, if I'll come to you now, Timmy, you're the youngest
- 15:04member of the of the group here today.
- 15:06How old are you? I'm 1111.
- 15:09So Timmy, when? How long have you been in the
- 15:11club? Three years going.
- 15:13Three years. So you're only 11.
- 15:15You've been there three years already.
- 15:16So you join when you're 8, is that right?
- 15:18Yeah. Fantastic.
- 15:19So what? What got you interested in
- 15:21karate? Because I really wanted, because
- 15:25I used to be like believed in my old school.
- 15:27So and then I wanted to stop it. So I joined karate for self
- 15:32defence. Really.
- 15:33And have you had, are people aware of you now?
- 15:37When? Because you go karate.
- 15:38Do they, do they behave differently towards you now?
- 15:41Yeah. Excellent.
- 15:42So it actually has worked, doesn't it?
- 15:44Yeah, it does. Brilliant.
- 15:46And how, what do they do now? How do they treat you now
- 15:48compared to before it? Treat me with more like respect.
- 15:51Yeah, and. Kindness, fantastic and
- 15:54hopefully you'll never, you have to use it in self defence
- 15:56properly, but at least you know, they know that it's there if you
- 15:58ever need to use it. Yeah, yeah.
- 16:00Good stuff, good stuff. So and in terms of the club
- 16:05itself, what's what do you enjoy about being part of the club the
- 16:09most when you're there and practising or performing?
- 16:13What I enjoy most is the sparring.
- 16:16Sparring practices and what what what happens when you do spying
- 16:19practices? What?
- 16:21What does that involve? Voice punches, Kicks.
- 16:26And techniques. And is that is that with another
- 16:29member of the club, then you're actually like kind of doing a
- 16:31pretend fight. Yeah, yeah.
- 16:34Excellent. And do you enjoy doing that?
- 16:37Yeah, yeah. And do you have people, do you
- 16:40have favorite people that you like to spar with at the club?
- 16:42Yeah. Very.
- 16:43Much. Who do you spar with normally?
- 16:45Robert. Robert, Yeah.
- 16:46And do you spar with people your own age or do you do you like to
- 16:49spar with somebody bigger than you, older than you as well?
- 16:52That's for mostly with people my.
- 16:53Dear yeah. So you can keep a good practice.
- 16:56Fantastic. Adam, if I come back to you, in
- 17:00terms of your work that you do in school, school and homework
- 17:05and the school activities, how do you balance that with going
- 17:09to karate as well? I go to karate like on Monday,
- 17:12Wednesday and Friday for 2 1/2 hours because we're the juniors
- 17:16and seniors class. So like I do most of homework
- 17:17before or after on Tuesdays. Thursdays would most likely
- 17:21weekends, yeah. OK.
- 17:22So you may you manage to balance it, OK.
- 17:24Yeah, fantastic. That's good stuff.
- 17:26And in terms of your activities at the club, do you, do you
- 17:32Obviously you've got a trophy, so you perform in competitions
- 17:34as well. Have you find?
- 17:36Have you found competing competitions?
- 17:39Well, it's like still like you get nervous a lot, but yeah, but
- 17:43you get like, it gets more fun because like after you start
- 17:45winning a lot, because like at first it was hard to like win,
- 17:49you know, like you have like higher people, like higher belts
- 17:52and more experienced people, you know?
- 17:54But like once you start like training more and stuff, you
- 17:57just get started winning, you know?
- 17:59But not all the time 'cause it's still like more experienced
- 18:01people. Of course, yeah.
- 18:02It's all part of getting better, isn't it?
- 18:04All the time and improving. So you've got a trophy there.
- 18:06So what was that trophy for? It was for start placing A
- 18:11sparring tournament. Amazing.
- 18:12And how long when was that? How long ago was that?
- 18:1420th of March so. OK.
- 18:16Recently, just a couple weeks ago.
- 18:17Excellent. And what belt are you at now?
- 18:19A bluebell of yellow stripe. Brilliant And and how how long
- 18:23is he taking you to get to that belt?
- 18:24Two years and like around 2 years, yeah.
- 18:27Fantastic, really, really good, brilliant Rebecca and you've got
- 18:30a trophy as well, so congratulations to you as well.
- 18:33What was your trophy for? It was for 2nd place sparring
- 18:36tournament. Excellent, brilliant.
- 18:38So similarly to similar to what Adam has has has won his for.
- 18:41So how long ago did you win that?
- 18:44I've won it like 28th of March. OK, so we're again recently,
- 18:49yes. Brilliant.
- 18:50So it's only about a week ago, isn't it?
- 18:51Something like that, Yeah, very soon, very recent.
- 18:54So. And what colour belt do you
- 18:56fight with at the moment? I am with yellow belt with green
- 19:00stripe and it took me like around most like highs in three
- 19:05years, OK. Wonderful.
- 19:07Brilliant. So you're progressing really
- 19:08well. Yeah.
- 19:09Fantastic, excellent. And Timmy, you as well.
- 19:12You've got a trophy there as well.
- 19:14What was your trophy for? For third place in a
- 19:17Sparrington. So again, fantastic, really good
- 19:20stuff. And did you win that recently?
- 19:21Yeah. Yeah, brilliant.
- 19:24And what's your What's the colour of your belt?
- 19:26Blue. Belt.
- 19:27Blue belt. Excellent.
- 19:28And you've obviously been at the club three years, you said,
- 19:30didn't you? Yeah.
- 19:31Brilliant. And Adam, back to you.
- 19:35So what would you, what advice would you give to somebody who's
- 19:39if there's if there's children out there listening now that are
- 19:41thinking about karate and unsure about it, what advice would you
- 19:44give them? I'd say like if you're
- 19:46interested like just go for it because it's really fun like and
- 19:49if you get bored you can just like quit and like do something
- 19:52else. But like if you're getting back
- 19:54bullied at school or you want to learn some self defence, just
- 19:57like boost your like mental health and have fun then.
- 20:00Yeah, I'd say go for it, you know?
- 20:01Yeah, absolutely. Because it's not just that you,
- 20:03I think you've said an important point there.
- 20:05It's not just about physical health, it's about mental health
- 20:08as well as it makes your your mind feel different as well.
- 20:10Yeah, like, it's very, like, peaceful, you know, like you've
- 20:13made some new people and like. Yeah.
- 20:16Good, good stuff. And Rebecca, you mentioned
- 20:18earlier about it being for, not just for boys, for girls as
- 20:22well. What advice would you give to
- 20:24any girls that are listening about potentially joining a
- 20:26martial arts club? Like don't listen to people
- 20:29like, don't like, don't like, listen to people who are like,
- 20:32calling your names, like prove them wrong.
- 20:36Yeah, and would you encourage any girl who wants to join a
- 20:38club to do it and give it a go? Yeah, of course.
- 20:41Like go for your dreams. Yeah, fantastic, good, wise
- 20:44words. They're all brilliant.
- 20:46And Timmy? Yeah, you're the youngest, 11
- 20:48years old. You join when you're 8.
- 20:51What advice would you give to even younger people about
- 20:54getting started in in karate? I'll give them advice like.
- 21:00What would you say they need to do?
- 21:02Well, what should they do? If they're thinking about it and
- 21:04they're unsure, what could they do to to maybe help them make
- 21:07their mind up? Like ask their parents if they
- 21:10should like. Yeah, ask their parents to maybe
- 21:13find a club and let them try it out.
- 21:15Yeah. Yeah.
- 21:15Good stuff. Good, good advice to me.
- 21:17Thank you. Gabby.
- 21:20If I could just come back to you there.
- 21:22You must be very proud of these. These I am their their.
- 21:24Answers surprised me in the the best way possible.
- 21:27And it wasn't coached in any. No, it wasn't.
- 21:29This is completely yeah, which is amazing, but you must be
- 21:32proud of what they're achieving. Obviously the trophies there,
- 21:35they're moving up, moving up the belt levels and everything.
- 21:37Absolutely yes. And and you know, it's
- 21:39relatively still at a young age as well.
- 21:41They're very young age, Yes, we are just starting their karate
- 21:43journey. You know what?
- 21:45We can only imagine what there will be in 10 years time.
- 21:47Yes, when we fight in adults categories, that's where the
- 21:51true fun begins. Absolutely, but it's given them
- 21:53a flavour ready of of, you know, success and achievement.
- 21:56Winning trophies, absolutely. Achieving belts, progressing
- 21:59belts, yes, you know that. It's got that kind of winning
- 22:02attitude and mentality, isn't it?
- 22:03Really, Yes. It's not only winning attitude
- 22:05as well. It's learning how to deal with
- 22:08the losing as well. When we go to tournaments, we
- 22:11all the time say, yes, you have winners, but you do not have
- 22:13losers. You're just going there to
- 22:15learn. What did you do wrong?
- 22:17You maybe didn't do enough punches or kicks.
- 22:20What do you have to improve? Do you have to be be a bit
- 22:22stronger or do you have to be a faster?
- 22:24So we are learning from those mistakes again and it's
- 22:27incredible as well how kids will learn how to deal with that loss
- 22:32on that day. Yes, I all the time say cry it
- 22:35out. It's normal.
- 22:36You have emotions. Cry it out on Monday.
- 22:38Back to the Dodger, carry on. Improve your kicks, Improve your
- 22:41punches. And as it is like as a cliche in
- 22:44life, isn't it? Is that when you win, you win
- 22:46and it it is relatively easy. But when you lose, you learn,
- 22:49don't you? Yes, yeah.
- 22:50And actually losing is way much harder, you know, than winning.
- 22:53You know, winning is, of course, you know, you leave a tournament
- 22:55happy with the trophies. When you lose, you have to deal
- 22:59with that, you know, live with that and remember it.
- 23:01Why did you lose? And you know what you have what
- 23:04you have to do better. Yeah.
- 23:05Yeah, absolutely brilliant, right?
- 23:07Let's just take another break there.
- 23:08We're back speaking to Gabby, Timmy, Adam and Rebecca in a
- 23:12short while. Stay tuned.
- 23:13It's PCRFM. You're listening to PCR sports.

- 23:36Nigel this evening. You can keep in touch with us
- 23:39throughout the week through our socials, even when we're off the

- 23:50or Twitter as it used to be. He's at sports PCR and then on
- 23:53Instagram, it's your PCR FM. So give us a shout if you need

- 24:00individual doing well at a sport and you'd like to be a guest on
- 24:03the show, then do reach out and we'll see if we can make it
- 24:06happen. So on that note, back to this
- 24:08evening's guests, we have in the company of Gabby, Timmy, Adam
- 24:12and Rebecca from the Haito Karate Club.
- 24:14We've just been hearing from the students, Timmy, Adam and
- 24:17Rebecca about their life with the club, what it's meant to
- 24:20them and what it's done for them, both outside of the sport
- 24:24of the art of karate as well as within it.
- 24:28Gabby, if I come back to you, great stories from the kids
- 24:32there. I think so.
- 24:33About. Their achievements and three of
- 24:35the trophies they bought or they bought throw trophies in this
- 24:38evening and I was not great for the radio because people can't
- 24:41see them. But we've taken photographs and
- 24:42and the kids have done really well by winning those trophies.
- 24:46I mean what, where have those trophies come from?
- 24:48What's the competition structure that the club enters and how do
- 24:51they, how do people win these trophies?
- 24:52So these trophies, which ones we have today, they came from the
- 24:55national tournament, which one we had on there a week ago.
- 24:59We entered with 11 members of our club and we brought home 5
- 25:03trophies, one second place and four third places.
- 25:08Before we start entering big tournaments, national or
- 25:10international ones, we organize smaller tournaments like Inter
- 25:15club tournaments in our club, in our premises.
- 25:18And we invite, well, all sorts of, you know, all sorts of the
- 25:21clubs, which ones can fight by our rules and we call them
- 25:25novice tournaments. So they have kind of a
- 25:28introduction to the fighting. So it's not so scary when you
- 25:31step on arena, you know in arena and 500 people are watching you,
- 25:35you know when you fight. So it's a little bit more cozy
- 25:39and a little bit more relaxed tournament.
- 25:41We still follow the same rules. It's still all the same, but
- 25:44it's just smaller premises, you know, a little bit fewer people
- 25:47as well watching us. And well, we're still screaming
- 25:50pretty loud in support, but but it's still at home.
- 25:54So we give a we feel a little bit more comfortable and
- 25:57students who are ready and when, you know, we prove or we did
- 26:01well in our tournament or we just wish to go to the bigger
- 26:04tournaments. Yeah, we are entering national
- 26:06tournaments which when we had last week and we have
- 26:09international tournaments as well.
- 26:11So one of them will be at the end of May and another one in
- 26:14October again. Wow, that's incredible.
- 26:16Yeah. So, So what I'm hearing there
- 26:18from you is that you you kind of have the local tournaments just
- 26:21to try and kind of set the scene of what a tournament is like.
- 26:23Get the guys that used to what it will feel like to be in
- 26:25tournaments before you start expanding nationally and yes, a
- 26:28sort of bigger tournament. So absolutely.
- 26:30And you mentioned there 500 people watching in a in a
- 26:32national tournament. Yes about it can be couple 100
- 26:35more as well in a big in a big arenas, yes and where.
- 26:37Did the tournaments take place all over the country?
- 26:40Yes. So one of them, for example, at
- 26:43the end of May, it will be in Crystal Palace in, in London as
- 26:46well. So that's a big arena.
- 26:47This is why, you know, a lot of people watching another one in
- 26:51which one will be in October or we had as well in October as
- 26:55well. We had top, you know, free
- 26:57trophies from that tournament. Amazing.
- 26:59It's in Crawley, so next to London.
- 27:02The last one we had it was in Reading.
- 27:04So yes, it's kind of around London.
- 27:07Yes, we. Have to travel a.
- 27:08Little bit we have to travel a little bit, but we have not
- 27:11travelled like abroad yet, but we are looking forward to that.
- 27:14Probably we have to enter quite you know quite a few more, more
- 27:17local tournaments or like national tournaments before we
- 27:20go abroad. But yeah, that definitely is on
- 27:22our list as well, you know, in the future looking, definitely
- 27:25looking going, you know, abroad and.
- 27:26Where to The International normally take?
- 27:28Is it one? Are they all over the world or
- 27:29just specific kind of place where it's renowned?
- 27:33The international ones, that one in Crystal Palace, in London or
- 27:36in Crawley, they are international ones.
- 27:38Yes, they are international. People have to travel abroad to.
- 27:40Go no, no, not necessary. They are happening where we have
- 27:43over, you know, 300 competitors in those tournaments.
- 27:46And we're coming from abroad. We're coming, you know, to
- 27:49London. That's probably the best place
- 27:51for them to come. And yeah, we travel down there
- 27:53and, you know, we compete together with people, you know,
- 27:55from France, Belgium, United States, Canada, Brazil, all, all
- 28:01of that. You know they're coming all over
- 28:02the place. Incredible.
- 28:04And how do you as a club or, or how do you decide whether when
- 28:08and where to enter and what tournaments to enter?
- 28:10How do you kind of make that decision?
- 28:11Or is there a a governing body who invites you because your
- 28:14club has reached a state certain level?
- 28:16So some of the tournaments they are by invitation only.
- 28:19So yes, you have to be invited, you have to kind of prove that
- 28:23you're worth it to go. It does happen.
- 28:26But a lot of tournaments, they are kind of open tournaments and
- 28:30you just can go there and test yourself, you know.
- 28:33So if we're saying that, look, they have a date and me as a
- 28:37sense, yes, usually I look at the dates, which tournaments
- 28:40would be suitable for us, where we could potentially travel.
- 28:43It's not still too far or anything like this for us.
- 28:46And yeah, I give, I send the emails and text messages to my
- 28:49students, the parents as well saying, look, we have this
- 28:51tournament, you have two weeks to think about if you would like
- 28:54to enter. And here we go.
- 28:55We're going. Amazing.
- 28:56That's right. And obviously you as a sensei,
- 28:59you know the sort of level from your experience obviously of
- 29:01taking part in the art as well. Yes, you can normally know what
- 29:04level it takes to qualify and and to do well in tournament.
- 29:06So you can in the open tournaments, you know when to
- 29:09enter and what students to enter and that sort.
- 29:10Of thing, yes, yes. So it's not like all the time
- 29:13everyone enters, of course, you know, some students we choose
- 29:16not to enter and me as a sensei as well as sometimes I sadly
- 29:19have to say no. You know, even if I would like
- 29:21more people going and competing from the club, it's not all the
- 29:25time the case. It's you have to sometimes tell
- 29:27them now you have to get a higher belt or you have to
- 29:30improve your kicks a little bit more, your combinations or one
- 29:33or another thing. So it's not all the time.
- 29:34For their own safety as well. Isn't it absolutely because it's
- 29:36a full contact, meaning that you punch and you kick as hard as
- 29:39you can? Yes.
- 29:40It's not like A tag games, you know, you're barely tapping the
- 29:43face or a head. No, you kick as hard as you can,
- 29:46you know. So it's of course, sometimes it
- 29:48happens bad for injuries happen. It's accidents.
- 29:52It's not it's quite early when we have serious injuries in the
- 29:55tournaments because kids are still wearing full protections
- 29:58and everything. So yes, we are protected.
- 30:01But me as a sense, it's my responsibility, you know, not to
- 30:04just send them to the tournament just to for fun of.
- 30:06Course, yeah, you just, you know.
- 30:08To hit my numbers or something? Yeah, it's not about that.
- 30:10It's sending those who have possibility to win or those who
- 30:15have to learn as well, not necessarily win over time.
- 30:17Yeah, and as you've seen, you've achieved 5 trophies from 11
- 30:20entries. Yes, recently.
- 30:21So which is good. Yes, I think it's pretty good
- 30:23for a small club like ours. After that tournament, we all
- 30:27the time do the like a table out of the clubs who takes by the
- 30:31clubs, who takes which place. And we took the 15th place out
- 30:36of more than 40 clubs competed in that tournament.
- 30:39So our club is 1, two, 3 1/2 years old and we're taking
- 30:43places with people, you know, with other clubs who exist for
- 30:4630-40 years. Amazing.
- 30:47So it's, you know, in comparison, I think it's, it's
- 30:50all right. Marvellous stuff, marvellous
- 30:52stuff. Excellent.
- 30:53So away from competition you're running a a special feature of
- 30:56the club where you're doing free self defence classes for women,
- 31:00is that correct? Yes, that's right.
- 31:01That's more about that, because obviously that's quite
- 31:03important, isn't? It, it is important, it's one of
- 31:05the most important things we do. And yes, we run free women self
- 31:09defence classes on Tuesdays during the school term time at
- 31:14our club. Both classes are completely free
- 31:17to join. You don't need, you know, and
- 31:19it's not like a course, you know, we can see a lot of
- 31:21courses selling online like 4 weeks course or 6 or 8 weeks
- 31:24course and they are promising you to teach everything you can
- 31:27learn in 4-6 or eight weeks. I don't believe in that.
- 31:32It doesn't happen that way. And I believe that you know,
- 31:35good habits, you know, strong habits, we have to be practiced
- 31:38over and over again. So we have women who joined us
- 31:41in September. Even if you miss few classes,
- 31:45you know, you've been sick or you've been away on holiday, it
- 31:47doesn't matter. You can hop in back on, you
- 31:49know, to the classes and kind of continue the journey.
- 31:51So it's it doesn't matter if you missed yes, you're still
- 31:54learning the same, well, the same things what every all the
- 31:57group learned before. Yes.
- 31:58And we are running, we are running both classes on Tuesday
- 32:01evenings from 8:00 to 9:00 during the school term time.
- 32:05Fantastic. And that's great, great feet,
- 32:06great thing to do, isn't it? Because I think it's important
- 32:09that people can protect themselves.
- 32:11Oh, especially I'm a woman, so that's why I run those classes.
- 32:14I truly believe that we definitely need more of those
- 32:18classes. Yeah.
- 32:20And definitely, you know, for accessibility.
- 32:22This is why we chose to do them free of charge, but not to limit
- 32:26people. If you, you can join us only if
- 32:28you can pay. No, it's not like that.
- 32:30We are running, you know, and free activities and for kids,
- 32:33for all of our students. And this one, this one, yes, it
- 32:35is for women. But I felt that woman, me being
- 32:38myself, woman, I know from experience that a lot of times
- 32:42you're in difficult situations if you start work quite early or
- 32:46finish quite late. And yeah, it's not a pleasure
- 32:49all the time around without no, you know, with no, no, nothing.
- 32:53And is that open to as in under 18 girls though?
- 32:57Or just. No, it's only 18 plus adult only
- 32:59because we are learning quite serious things.
- 33:02It's not like you, you expected to know them.
- 33:04No, you can join absolutely. If you have no clue how to make
- 33:07a fist, you know, with your hand.
- 33:09We teach everything with that. But both classes we talk, you
- 33:13know, pretty serious. We are talking about knife
- 33:15defence against different weapons or very serious like
- 33:18assault situations as well, so This is why those classes are
- 33:21only 18. Plus of course, yes, which makes
- 33:23sense. And how long you've been running
- 33:25them? What was the idea behind
- 33:26introducing those? So my idea was just, well, I'm a
- 33:29woman, that's why that that was main idea.
- 33:33And I know that it was a lack of classes for only for women,
- 33:37especially because there are some, a lot of, you know, self
- 33:40defence clubs open for everyone. But I listen to my students,
- 33:45moms, for example, or other women who attend my club and
- 33:48they said, yeah, we would like to do but or it's their beliefs
- 33:52or if you have been assaulted or something like this.
- 33:54We do not want to train with men.
- 33:57Sadly, it's it happens more often when we think, and that
- 34:00was my main idea that we are doing those classes for women.
- 34:04And it's women only me is a woman.
- 34:07And females had, you know, more tend to join the classes when
- 34:10which ones classes are joined by, you know which ones are run
- 34:13by a woman as well. Because I'm not the most fit
- 34:17person in the world. I'm not the tallest, the
- 34:19strongest or anything like this. And I believe it helps for women
- 34:22to see that when person like one of them is teaching
- 34:27self-defense, it I must teach what actually works.
- 34:30Yeah, of course, because I'm not, like I said, not the
- 34:32fastest, strongest, the best one ever.
- 34:35Yes. But I'm one of them.
- 34:37And this is what I teach and it must work.
- 34:40That was my main idea. That's, you know, to spread that
- 34:42awareness and, you know, just to teach basic things.
- 34:45Amazing. That's a great thing to do for
- 34:47the community, Which? Thank you.
- 34:48Thank you, Kevin. So and just time is running out,
- 34:50but finally anyone who's interested in joining the club,
- 34:53whether it's for the free self defence or generally joining the
- 34:56club to actually learn the the art of karate, how do they get
- 34:59in touch with you? First thing is probably our
- 35:02website whichishightalkkarate.com or
- 35:07also on Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, YouTube.
- 35:11Did I did I name them all? It's high talk karate.
- 35:15Yes, it's pretty much, you know, the same name for all of you
- 35:17know, for all of our social media channels.
- 35:19Yeah. Send this text message or go on
- 35:21the website, choose the date which one suits you the best and
- 35:24book your free week trial. Fantastic and Haito spell HAITO
- 35:29for those that you want to to know so brilliant.
- 35:32Thank you Gabby and last word to to the kids.
- 35:36Just finally, Rebecca, if somebody's out there listening
- 35:40thinking about karate, what would you say to them?
- 35:42I'll. Say like, go for your dreams and
- 35:49like, be brave and like, yeah. Go for it.
- 35:53Don't. Don't just give it a go.
- 35:55And like Gabby said, there was a free trial to join the club and
- 35:57see to get an idea of what it feels like.
- 35:59Yeah. Amazing.
- 36:01Adam what? What would you say I'd.
- 36:03Say like if you're having like trouble with like mental health,
- 36:06like problems like bullying people just like see what's
- 36:09good, like see what's up with karate.
- 36:11And then like, if you like, just carry on, you know?
- 36:14Yeah, and it gives. It gives gives you a deterrent,
- 36:17doesn't it gives other gives. It's a direct deterrent against
- 36:19other people who might not be treating you too well.
- 36:21Yeah. Fantastic.
- 36:22Thank you, Adam. Timmy, finally from you.
- 36:24What advice? You started young.
- 36:25At 8 years old, you started karate.
- 36:27What? What would you say to people who
- 36:29are thinking about joining the club or a club?
- 36:31Go. For it, don't be scared, don't
- 36:34let other people talk you down, and don't let other people call
- 36:39your names and stuff. Fantastic, superb advice.
- 36:42Thank you, kids. Thank you, Timmy.
- 36:44Thank you, Adam. Thank you, Rebecca, and thank
- 36:46you, Gabby. Thank you.
- 36:47As well for having. Wishing you a continued success
- 36:49and obviously we'll get you back on the show again in future and
- 36:52it's great to have you on again. Thank you.
- 36:54Brilliant, right? We'll just go to our final break
- 36:57and in a moment we'll be back with this week's Sporting News
- 37:00Headlines with Nigel. Stay tuned, it's PCR FM.
- 37:04You're listening to PCR sports. Welcome back to the PCR Sports
- 37:17Show with myself, Dipam and Nigel.
- 37:19This week we've just been speaking with Gabby from the
- 37:22Height of Karate Club, who's set that up and leads the club in
- 37:25the city of Peter in Woodston. And we've heard from some of our
- 37:27students, Timmy, Adam and Rebecca about their life in and
- 37:32out of the club, which has been absolutely fantastic.
- 37:34But right now, let's catch up on what's been happening elsewhere.
- 37:37And Nigel has the headlines for us this week.
- 37:40Nigel, how are you? Yeah, all good.
- 37:41Thank you, All good. So here are your headlines on
- 37:43PCR Sports this evening. Posh's first game, first game
- 37:47today since the 11 draw at Wimbledon, which was just sort
- 37:50of two weeks ago. This afternoon they visited
- 37:53Luton Town in League One and fell to a 21 defeat despite
- 37:57Jimmy J Morgan's goal giving Posh some late hope.
- 38:01The Posh are back in action on Monday when Cardiff City visit
- 38:04the Western Home Stadium for a three PM kick off.
- 38:07In other news, Posh's fixture at Stockport has been changed to a
- 38:1112/30 kick off as it's been selected by Sky Sports for live
- 38:15TV coverage. And the club are delighted to
- 38:18have signed winger Cairo Lisby on a new long term deal that
- 38:22runs through to 2030. The 22 year old completed the
- 38:26formalities after outstanding first campaign at EFL level with
- 38:30twenty goal contributions in all competitions including eleven
- 38:34Sky Bat League One goals over the city at Peterborough Sports.
- 38:38And this afternoon Peterborough Sports drew 22 at home to King's
- 38:42Lynn after twice leading the match.
- 38:44The Sports goals going from Luca Miller and Marcel Oakley and
- 38:47both sides were reduced to 10 men in stoppage time with
- 38:51Elliott Whitehouse, Turbines player, giving his marching
- 38:54orders. Just four games to go now for
- 38:56the City's second side and Sports still hold a slim chance
- 39:00of maintaining their status in the National League N with their
- 39:04next match at Oxford City on Monday.
- 39:08In cricket, AK 11's dream of winning the national ECB Indoor
- 39:11competition for 2026 is all over after the city based team lost
- 39:17in the National semi final. AK qualified for the National
- 39:20ECB competition after winning the Hunt Indoor League and after
- 39:24winning their regional final. Uppingham School to book
- 39:27themselves a place at the home of cricket.
- 39:30In their way was Waterlooville from Hampshire.
- 39:32AK11 won the toss and decided to bat first but was soon in early
- 39:37trouble and were reduced to 16 for three due to mount to some
- 39:41outstanding seam and swing bowlers.
- 39:43From the first first 3 Waterlooville players.
- 39:47Things suddenly got worse for the city based team as only
- 39:50Xishan U Hak Mcdoom with 18 and captain Sudhir Jaffear with 10
- 39:56made double figures as they were dismissed for 42 in 9.1 overs
- 40:01chasing 43. The final to win the final to
- 40:04get into the finals. Excuse me?
- 40:06Waterlooville got home without any alarms to win by 6 wickets.
- 40:12Boxing and Chrissy Smith has broken an Eastern Counties
- 40:15boxing record. The fighter from the local
- 40:17Wolves Den Club won an Eastern Counties Challenge belt, just
- 40:21his third competitive bout, the fastest title win on record.
- 40:25Smith stopped the more experienced Jesse Gatehouse in
- 40:28the second round in Billericay after surviving a flurry in of
- 40:33punches in the opening stages. The local lad didn't panic and
- 40:37gradually wore his opponent down with some devastating body shots
- 40:41accompanied by attacks to the head.
- 40:44Smith won't be one of the four Wolves Den boxers to contest the
- 40:47national finals of a fine achievement as no other club has
- 40:52won more than one fighter involved.
- 40:55And finally, snooker. Luke Simmons beat Gary
- 40:58Skipworth, 21, to win the inaugural Snooker Open final at
- 41:01Peterborough's Broadway club and claimed the £450 first prize and
- 41:07the trophy last Sunday. Simmons whitewashed Darren
- 41:10Bumpkin Steve Martin with a break of 84, the highest event
- 41:15in the event, and Christian Willits before scraping past
- 41:18senior's eventual Invitational champion Stephen Waldron in a
- 41:23decider on the final black to reach the title match.
- 41:27Having lost the title the opening game in pre tournament
- 41:30favorite Matt Gasby, Skipworth held his nerve in three one
- 41:35frame matches defeating Neil Downman, local hope Steve Singh
- 41:39and former professional Colin Mitchell on route to 1/6 Legends
- 41:43Tour final. Next up is the Team Cup in April
- 41:47which sees 16 players randomly paired together with the winning
- 41:51side collecting the 550 LB top prize.
- 41:54Those the slightly brief headlines this evening.
- 41:58Thank you Nigel, lots going on as always.
- 42:00You've just come in fresh from the Peter Plus Sports game at
- 42:04Pimps Park as a football match sounded quite exciting.
- 42:07Probably not the most ideal result that sports would have
- 42:09wanted, but quite an entertaining game by the sound
- 42:12of it. It was a typical Derby.
- 42:15It was a typical. Derby.
- 42:16It was ruined really as a spectacle by the wind, but the
- 42:22game just was you couldn't take your eyes off it for one second.
- 42:25Oh, the both teams just gave so much.
- 42:29And unfortunately, sports, it seems like sports are hit by an
- 42:33absolute worldly goal just recently in every game at Pyms
- 42:36Park. But this guy scored the
- 42:38equalizer in in added time today.
- 42:40He won't hit another one like that for the rest of his career
- 42:43probably. And it just crept in the corner
- 42:44and great finish. But yeah, get in for sports and
- 42:49looking like the right end might be on the wall now.
- 42:51And. We're just looking at a table
- 42:53now. Sports are eight points from
- 42:56safety, I suppose, 9 effectively because of because of the goal
- 43:00difference with what sports are on 42 matches, so they've got
- 43:05four more to play. It's got to be maximum points,
- 43:08doesn't it really? And that still doesn't
- 43:09guarantee. Well, we, we said it was before
- 43:12today, we said we needed five from 5.
- 43:14I think we definitely need 4 from 4.
- 43:16Now there's a few draws today, which actually means the safety
- 43:20net now is probably 49 points where before they thought it
- 43:24might have been 50, even as high as 52.
- 43:28So yeah, four wins and you never know.
- 43:31But it is very much last chance saloon now.
- 43:34Oxford on Monday is a 4G pitch so it'll be a much quicker game
- 43:39and let's just hope the players can recover after a bruising
- 43:42battle today. Peter Crook got an injury at the
- 43:44end. He's his eye was bleeding quite
- 43:47heavily and sports didn't. Have.
- 43:49Didn't have a reserve goalie on the on the bench.
- 43:52Sam Ed was picking up an injury in training, so that's going to
- 43:56be interesting. We're talking to Kashi after the
- 43:57game and he said there's a possibility they might have to
- 44:01bring in a new keeper for Monday for. 40 hours or so.
- 44:05Never a dull moment at sports, believe me.
- 44:07Wow. And I look in Oxford, they're
- 44:09actually on decent form at the moment as well.
- 44:12Out of six matches, they've won 3, drawn 2 and lost one.
- 44:15Yeah, it just seems, you know, you look back over the past
- 44:19maybe six weeks, two months, I think all those teams that have
- 44:23been down there with sports have pulled some brilliant results
- 44:26out of the back. Oxford being one of them, Kings
- 44:28Lynn, who they played today being one of them.
- 44:31And you know, Alfreton, again, they've pulled out some
- 44:35brilliant results. And it just seems that sports
- 44:37are the only team not to have done that.
- 44:39And they've that's why they're still down there.
- 44:41So I don't, I don't think, I don't think it has many excuses.
- 44:45If they do end up going down, I think they'll probably deserve
- 44:49it. But if if they played like they
- 44:51did today for the whole of the season, then we'd be mid table.
- 44:56Yeah, absolutely. And that I think that the damage
- 44:59lately was done, that that defeated Leamington wasn't.
- 45:01It wasn't great. That was a real kick in the
- 45:03teeth and and we didn't play well there at all, really.
- 45:07But yeah, I mean, Leamington Rock bottom, before we played
- 45:11them last week, they were actually down and we've only
- 45:15taken one point off them all year doing nil nil at home and
- 45:18then we lost 42 away. So, you know, it's little things
- 45:20like that that make the difference and it looks like
- 45:25sports are going to come up just short, but it'll be a brilliant
- 45:29end of the season if they do manage to pull it I'd.
- 45:31Say never, say never. While it's mathematically
- 45:34possible, let's let's just cling on to that hope.
- 45:36Well, the dreamer in me is saying that they're going to do
- 45:38it and it's not till they're mathematically down that that
- 45:42I'll think any different. But everybody's on to Monday now
- 45:46at Oxford. There's a good crowd down at
- 45:48Pyms Park today, hoping that some of those will come and
- 45:51support us at Oxford on Monday and let's see where we end up.
- 45:55We might be having a big party yet.
- 45:57Fingers crossed, brilliant. Thanks Nigel.
- 45:59You'll be off the obviously off to Oxford on Monday with the
- 46:01with the side no doubt and reporting on that through our
- 46:04socials. Yeah, yeah, I'll be there.
- 46:06So we've got a couple of lots. So four games, three of those
- 46:10are away, just one left at home now.
- 46:12So three more Rd. trips and a very long season.
- 46:15Absolutely brilliant. Good stuff.
- 46:16Thank you Nigel, right, it's come to the end of the show and
- 46:20thank you for joining us this evening.
- 46:22As we spoke to Highto Karate, Gabby, Timmy, Adam and Rebecca
- 46:26gave us a great update on what's happening at the club and what
- 46:29it feels like to to partake in the art of karate.
- 46:32And then Nigel just wrapped us up there with the headlines.
- 46:34So thank you for joining us. Enjoy this wonderful long bank
- 46:37holiday weekend. Have a great week.
- 46:39We'll be back. Same time, same place next week
- 46:41with your PCR sports show on PCRFM.
- 46:44Take care, bye for now.
