Mow Squad Mows Lawns, Builds Community | Kansas City News
In Shawnee, the Mow Squad—part of the Neighbors Helping Neighbors program—connects homeowners over 65 or with disabilities to free lawn care from volunteers and local businesses. Since 2017, it’s helped 23 residents, including Richard Milne, who now gets weekly mowing after a heart attack. Volunteers, including church groups and individuals, have logged over 260 hours this season. The initiative also handles more than 40 community requests yearly.
