Latest / Unlocking The Paradigm Portal / Light In The Dark: Wish You Could Undo Something?
Transcript
- 0:00Hey, it's Sarah. If your mind keeps trying to go
- 0:04back in time tonight to a moment you wish you could redo, or a
- 0:08choice that you wish you could take back, or words you wish you
- 0:11could unsay, then this is for you.
- 0:15You don't have to figure out how to make peace with it right now,
- 0:18and you don't have to convince yourself everything happens for
- 0:21a reason. You don't have to force closure,
- 0:26so you can just sit here and listen and not be alone with it
- 0:29for a few minutes. So hang out with me and imagine
- 0:33that my voice is a small Lantern beside you, with just enough
- 0:37light to take the edge off the dark.
- 0:40Because regret is different from sadness.
- 0:44So sadness it sits really heavy, but regret it paces and it keeps
- 0:49trying to open the same door again.
- 0:51Like if you replay it enough times, maybe something will
- 0:55change and your brain runs like simulations and different
- 1:00versions and different outcomes. If I had just done this
- 1:04differently or if I hadn't said what I said or why didn't I say
- 1:08what I meant to say? And the hardest part is knowing
- 1:13that you can't go back. So your mind keeps circling it
- 1:17like it doesn't know where else to go and it's searching for a
- 1:20place to land. And if that's happening tonight,
- 1:23you're not losing it. You're trying to process
- 1:26something that doesn't have a clear ending.
- 1:30And regret can turn into a kind of quiet self punishment.
- 1:36Your brain starts building a case against you.
- 1:38You should have known better. You shouldn't have trusted that
- 1:41person. You shouldn't have stayed or you
- 1:44shouldn't have left. And it starts to feel like the
- 1:47only way to balance the scale is to keep hurting about it.
- 1:52But hurting forever doesn't rewrite the past.
- 1:56It just keeps you awake at night.
- 1:58And you don't have to sentence yourself tonight.
- 2:01You can set the case down for a few hours.
- 2:05So right now, you are not in that moment.
- 2:08You are here in your room, in your bed, in this exact version
- 2:14of your life, the one that kept going.
- 2:18So feel where your body is touching the surface under you.
- 2:22Ground yourself in that feeling and notice something in the room
- 2:26that you can see or you can hear and let your eyes rest somewhere
- 2:32because your life didn't stop at that moment of regret, even if
- 2:37part of your mind is still there.
- 2:40You are here now and here. Nothing needs to be decided.
- 2:46Nothing needs to be fixed and nothing needs to be relived.
- 2:53So a gentle reminder that you don't have to solve your entire
- 2:57past tonight, and you don't have to arrive at forgiveness, and
- 3:02you don't have to understand why it happened and you don't have
- 3:05to extract the lesson right now. Sometimes the kindest thing that
- 3:10you can do for yourself is to stop pressing replay.
- 3:15Not forever, but just for tonight.
- 3:17Because you are allowed to rest. In fact, you deserve to rest.
- 3:22Even if the story feels unfinished and you're allowed to
- 3:27sleep. Even if your brain is still
- 3:29holding questions. And you're allowed to exist
- 3:33without punishing yourself. So if regret showed up tonight,
- 3:38I'm really glad you didn't have to sit with it completely alone.
- 3:42And you don't have to carry the whole past while you're trying
- 3:44to rest. So for now, just breathe and let
- 3:49the night hold you for a little while and I'll leave the Lantern
- 3:53beside you so that it is right there when I come back.
- 3:58Thank you for joining me tonight.
- 4:00I really appreciate it.
