- 0:01Luke chapter 24, let us pray, O Lord, our God, our King, you are
- 0:13everything. Lord, we thank you for this very
- 0:18day that we can come and we can sit at your feet and we can
- 0:22learn from you, Holy Spirit. You guide us, Holy Spirit, You
- 0:29teach us. I decrease as you increase.
- 0:34It's all about you, King Jesus, we thank you for the finished
- 0:39work of the cross. We thank you that you wrought
- 0:43our salvation for us. We thank you, Jesus, that you
- 0:49have drawn us to yourself. You have beckoned us into life
- 0:55and life everlasting. And God, we get out of the way
- 1:00and we put King Jesus on the rightful place on the throne of
- 1:06our hearts and minds. God, let us not just be in
- 1:12speech, but let it be in deed and action.
- 1:17God, let us put our faith into practice.
- 1:21And Lord, as we go through today, Lord, I pray that you
- 1:24will correct us, rebuke us, reproof us, bring us into
- 1:32heavenly places. God, let us come up to the
- 1:37heights where you are. Let us know the depths of your
- 1:42love. Father, I pray that we will not
- 1:45just be calloused and see your conscience.
- 1:48Lord, I pray that we will be endued with power from on high
- 1:53and God, we will be filled with the Holy Spirit today and let us
- 1:58take the whole word to the whole world.
- 2:00God, I pray in the name of Jesus for every man, woman and child
- 2:05who is on this earth and who will ever be born.
- 2:08God, I pray that you'll draw them to yourself.
- 2:12God, I pray that they'll make a love decision towards you.
- 2:16I pray against the hostility of the people towards the truth.
- 2:22Lord, I pray that you will break down and tear down any
- 2:27opposition to the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
- 2:31I pray in the name of Jesus that you'll bind the enemy.
- 2:36I pray in the name of Jesus that you'll cast the enemy into the
- 2:39judgment that you have awaiting for him.
- 2:43Lord, I pray against all demonic warfare.
- 2:47God, I pray against all demonic attacks.
- 2:50God, I pray against the oppression and the possession
- 2:53God and influence of the demonic realm.
- 2:56God, I pray that the angels, God will encamp around us.
- 3:01I pray, Lord, for a hedge of protection around our families.
- 3:05I pray for a hedge of protection around us.
- 3:09Lord, and the ministries that you've given us.
- 3:11God, I pray that we can see ourselves in the true light.
- 3:16God, let us put on the full armor today.
- 3:19I pray that we can tell the truth and live the right way.
- 3:22I pray that we can have the shoes, the gospel, the good
- 3:26news. God that brings our peace.
- 3:30Lord, I pray that our testimony, God will be on our lips today as
- 3:35we tell others of how far you have brought us.
- 3:38Lord, let us be reminded of these things, Lord, and let us
- 3:42know that no matter how far somebody is, God, that they're
- 3:46not too far from you. Lord, you're right there, You're
- 3:50in the camp, You're beckoning them to yourself the way that
- 3:54you did for us. And so, Lord, we pray for
- 3:57strength for this hour for those men and women, Lord, who are on
- 4:01the verge, let them make the decision wholeheartedly to
- 4:05follow you. God not reserved at all, but
- 4:08Lord just completely sold out to the King of Kings and the Lord
- 4:13of Lords and the servant of servants.
- 4:15God, I pray, Lord, that we can lift up this shield of faith.
- 4:21Lord, I pray that we can soak it in the heavy water.
- 4:25God of the holy water, Lord, the living water, God, and your
- 4:32burden is light. And so, Lord, help us to lift it
- 4:35up, Jehovah Nisi, over our minds, over our hearts, over our
- 4:40bodies, over our emotions, over our circumstances.
- 4:44God, we lift up the shield of faith.
- 4:46God and I pray that we'll do war with the Word today, God, and
- 4:51we'll go out and battle God, battle all of the spiritual
- 4:56realm, Lord, that is trying to oppose us.
- 5:00Lord, we'll tell the truth and we'll speak the truth, Lord, and
- 5:04we'll remind ourselves of the goodness of you.
- 5:07And God will bring the Scriptures onto our lips, Lord,
- 5:12so that we can resist the enemy and we can extinguish the fiery
- 5:18darts of the enemy. And God, I pray that we'll not
- 5:22just be casual, passive learners who will not just be casual,
- 5:28passive disciples, but God, we will be active and engaged in
- 5:33the warfare that you've called us to, God, because heaven and
- 5:37hell hang in the balance, God, life and death hang in the
- 5:41balance, God. And I pray in the name of Jesus
- 5:44that you will help us to understand the weight of the
- 5:47ministry that you've given us. God, I pray that we will not
- 5:52just sit passively, God, but we will speak truth in love.
- 6:02You're not willing that any should perish, Father.
- 6:05And so God, we just pray that you will be honored and
- 6:09glorified in the highest. It's all about you, King Jesus.
- 6:13It's always been about you, King Jesus.
- 6:16We thank you for these holy scriptures.
- 6:18We thank you for the full authority of your word, God
- 6:23Almighty. We thank you, Holy Spirit,
- 6:26Phyllis, and it's in Jesus Christ, holy precious name that
- 6:32I pray, Amen. Let's start in verse one.
- 6:40Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning,
- 6:46they came unto the tomb, bringing the spices which they
- 6:51had prepared, and certain others with them.
- 6:55So here you can see that these women were coming to do the
- 7:00proper burial for the Lord Jesus, and they're wondering
- 7:04who's going to roll the stone back.
- 7:07We know that there were guards that were placed outside of this
- 7:11tomb. We know that the soldiers went
- 7:13and talked to the priest trying to figure out what they were
- 7:16going to do because Jesus was resurrected.
- 7:20The stone was rolled back. 2 And they found the stone rolled away
- 7:26from the tomb. 3 And they entered in and found not the
- 7:32body of the Lord Jesus. You know, he had told them many
- 7:37times that he was going to be raised on the third day.
- 7:42But it's so common for us to hear all of these truths and for
- 7:48them to be dialed in and for them to be repeated and still
- 7:54miss it. We can be so daft at times, and
- 7:59we really need to take this word at face value and know that God
- 8:04means what He says and He says what He means when He says in
- 8:10the twinkling of a die, the sound of a trumpet, that we will
- 8:16be taken to be with Him in the clouds, to meet Him in the air,
- 8:22and there we will be with him forever.
- 8:24He means what he says, friends, and He says what He means.
- 8:27And in our finite minds it's hard to wrestle and it's hard
- 8:32for us to wonder how all of these things will be, but it's
- 8:36no different for us than it was for them.
- 8:40Jesus told them all the things that they were going to get to
- 8:43see and they missed it and they were unbelieving.
- 8:50And it's no different for our generation.
- 8:52There are many promises for us today and we try to discount it
- 8:58and we don't want to talk about it.
- 9:00And there's so many conflicting ideas about it.
- 9:03And Jesus just makes it plain. And we would do well to believe
- 9:07the simple gospel and the simple truths that this word presents
- 9:12to us and not try to hyper spiritualize it all, or try to
- 9:17discount it, or just try to put it in a box and try to slide it
- 9:22over into some kind of camp. We need to just take this word
- 9:26for what it says and to truly believe it.
- 9:29Friends for. And it came to pass, as they
- 9:35were much perplexed thereabout. Behold, 2 men stood by them in
- 9:42shining garments. So we know that the angels
- 9:46pronounced his birth, and we see here that the angels are
- 9:51pronouncing his resurrection. Everything within our faith,
- 9:57friends, is hinged upon the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
- 10:02And the same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in
- 10:06you, believer, lives in me. And we will be raised to life,
- 10:14even though we are sown in shame.
- 10:17We will be raised in glory. We are sown in the natural, and
- 10:24we will be raised in the immortal.
- 10:28Friends, praise God, Hallelujah. It's not anything that we've
- 10:34ever done. It's all about what He did and
- 10:37it's paid in full. That's what the bill says, paid
- 10:42in full. It's what He brought for us and
- 10:46bought for us, wrought for us on the cross of Christ.
- 10:50On Calvary Friends, you can have the power from on high.
- 10:56The Holy Spirit wants to be your advocate, wants to be your
- 11:00helper, wants to help you through this life and give you
- 11:04the mind of Christ and make all of your feelings and make all of
- 11:09your reality subject to the reality of the Word of God.
- 11:14I pray that you have allowed him to have the last say, the final
- 11:18say over all of your circumstances.
- 11:22Even death itself is subject to the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 11:27He has victory over every area of your life if you will give
- 11:31him full access to it. And quit trying to hold on to
- 11:36all of the hurts and hang ups, all of the fear and anxiety, the
- 11:41depression and the childhood trauma.
- 11:43Let it all go. Friends.
- 11:45Let go of the addictions. Friends let go of the rage and
- 11:50the malice and the discord and the gossip.
- 11:52Friends give it all over to him. Don't find your identity in
- 11:57vanity. Do not find your identity in
- 12:00wealth. Do not find your identity in
- 12:02stature. Do not find your identity in
- 12:05your job and your profession. Don't find your identity and
- 12:11your IQ level. Do not find your identity even
- 12:14in your loneliness. Find your identity in Jesus
- 12:18Christ and you will find life in everlasting life.
- 12:21And He gives it to you now. He starts the process now.
- 12:25And we can push back on the darkness and push back on the
- 12:29gates of hell, and we can start to live the abundant life now.
- 12:33And we will be with Him forever more in that abundance, friends,
- 12:40He is our kinsman Redeemer and there is no lack in His house.
- 12:44And He wants to give you way more than just monetary
- 12:48blessings. Don't forget it, Five.
- 12:54And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the
- 12:59earth, they said unto them, Why do you seek the living among the
- 13:03dead? He told them.
- 13:07He made it plain. He showed them many times that
- 13:10he was to be raised to life and they're going to the place of
- 13:14the dead, even though he told them that he would go ahead of
- 13:19them into Galilee and appear to them.
- 13:23And here you can see that these women were trying to do the
- 13:27right thing, and the angels were saying, don't seek the living
- 13:32among the dead. He's alive.
- 13:35He is resurrected, Friends. 6 He's not here but is risen.
- 13:42Remember how he spoke unto you when he was yet in Galilee?
- 13:497 Saying the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of
- 13:54sinful men, be crucified, and the third day rise again.
- 14:02Jesus told them. Jesus didn't leave anything to
- 14:05question. Jesus made sure they had all of
- 14:10the resources and the tools to be successful.
- 14:14And he does the same for you and for me.
- 14:16Friends, we lack no thing. We don't have to wait on life
- 14:23everlasting. We can start that now.
- 14:27We can step in to that reality now.
- 14:30But we must make this world subject to the truth and the way
- 14:37and the life of Jesus Christ. And much like salvation, the
- 14:45abundant life is a divine mystery that only those who have
- 14:52experienced that understand what it truly means.
- 14:56Most of us are caught up in the world and caught up in the
- 15:00natural and caught up in what we can sense with our senses.
- 15:06And we have not yet stepped into the reality of the abundant life
- 15:10that Jesus wants to provide for us, where we are 100% reliant
- 15:15upon Him. And we're walking in the Spirit.
- 15:19And we're not satisfying the lusts of the flesh.
- 15:23And we are not having the pride of life, friends.
- 15:27The lust of the eyes, friends. But we are walking in tune with
- 15:33our Father. We're listening to the still
- 15:36small voice. And He's leading us in heavenly
- 15:39places and everywhere that we step as holy ground friends, and
- 15:44we have the power from on high, and we are filled with the Holy
- 15:48Spirit, and we can hear the Father's voice, and we know that
- 15:52He's well pleased with us. And I pray that that is your
- 15:55inheritance today. Believer 8.
- 16:03And they remembered his words. That's what we need.
- 16:06We need more than anything in the in the middle of the battle,
- 16:09in the middle of the controversy, in the middle of
- 16:11the argument, in the middle of the chaos, remember his words.
- 16:19Remember his words. Friends call these scriptures to
- 16:25mind. Friends remember his words. 9
- 16:34and returned from the tomb, and told all these things unto the
- 16:3911 and to all the rest. So we know that Jesus was so
- 16:45gracious and he loves women, and he revealed himself to the
- 16:51women. Friends.
- 16:53How amazing is it that God is for all and at this time in this
- 17:03culture these women would have been degraded and of lowly
- 17:09stature and the men were celebrated.
- 17:12And you can see here the heart of God, how he elevates the
- 17:19feminine, how he says that we are Co heirs of the eternal.
- 17:27And you can see here his heart, friends, it's not that God is so
- 17:34masculine that he pushes down the women and there is a natural
- 17:39order of the family friends, but just know that God sees us as
- 17:44equal Co heirs of eternity, and we as men would do well to honor
- 17:53our wives and to give them special place.
- 17:59Jesus is so good at what he does. 10 And it was Mary
- 18:03Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James and other
- 18:12women that were with them, which told these things unto the
- 18:16apostles. So Mary Magdalene, we know that
- 18:19she was the one that the Lord drove out the seven demons.
- 18:23Joanna, she was the wife of Chuza who is of Herod's court.
- 18:27And perhaps a woman of privilege.
- 18:31And here this Mary, the mother of James the Lesser, we can see
- 18:36that these women were sold out to the King of Kings, and they
- 18:40saw the worth of him, and they're going to anoint him with
- 18:44the spices. And they get a special privilege
- 18:47of being the forerunners to tell the apostles that he is not
- 18:53dead, he is risen. 11 And their words seem to them as idle
- 19:02tales, and they believe them not.
- 19:04You can see here that these men were steeped in tradition, and
- 19:08they refused to believe these babbling women who were coming,
- 19:14telling all kinds of little idle tales.
- 19:17And these men were still thinking in the natural, and
- 19:20they'd not yet been empowered with the Holy Spirit to have the
- 19:25mind of Christ, and they were relying upon their senses.
- 19:29And we err grievously whenever we do not step into the
- 19:34spiritual, when we stay in the natural.
- 19:36Friends. 12 Then arose Peter, and ran unto the tomb.
- 19:44Stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by
- 19:49themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that
- 19:54which was come to pass. We know that Peter and John both
- 19:58ran, and we know that John beat them, and Luke doesn't give us
- 20:02that account here. But John's going to tell us how
- 20:07he beat Peter to the tomb. And here Peter is wondering.
- 20:13He's perplexed by it all. And look at how these linen
- 20:17clothes were wrapped so neatly. It was not as if they were
- 20:25ripped off of them by some wild animal or by some manic man.
- 20:30This was intentionality. Jesus would have laid the head
- 20:37cloth as a napkin when somebody left the dinner table and
- 20:41telling the guests telling the host that he was to return.
- 20:48Jesus would have laid his head garment, his head cloth in a
- 20:54manner that showed that he was to return friends.
- 20:58And here Peter is wondering about it all. 13 And behold, 2
- 21:05of them went the same day to a village called Emmaus, which was
- 21:10from Jerusalem about 3 score furlongs.
- 21:14So we know that the ancient historian Josephus, he gives us
- 21:21the location and it matches perfectly of this town of
- 21:26Emmaus. We know that history proves that
- 21:30this town was a real town. 14 And they talked together of all
- 21:34these things which had happened. So you can see these two unnamed
- 21:38disciples, and they're just walking along and they're
- 21:42wondering what is this is all about?
- 21:4515 And it came to pass that while they commune together and
- 21:51reasoned, Jesus himself drew near and went with them.
- 21:56So Jesus here, he's just blending in.
- 22:00This was something that you're going to see recurring as a
- 22:04theme that Jesus has the ability to come in and not be revealed
- 22:12in his glory. And he told the women, don't
- 22:17hold on to me. I've not yet resurrected.
- 22:20There's something fantastic about the resurrected body that
- 22:26he is able to keep himself from fully being recognized.
- 22:33And it is a divine mystery here. And we know that it's a real
- 22:41body, no doubt. This is not a ghost or a
- 22:44phantom. This is a literal physical body.
- 22:51He's going to eat. He has bones and flesh.
- 22:56He still has the wounds. But there is something about his
- 23:01appearance that these disciples and even the women when they
- 23:06thought he was just the gardener, and even the disciples
- 23:12as they're looking out from the boat onto the beach, there's
- 23:17something about the resurrected body that is different.
- 23:23What a mystery, friends. And we will, we see it dimly
- 23:27now, but we will see it fully whenever we get to enter into
- 23:32that reality. 16 But their eyes were holding that they should
- 23:40not know him. 17 And he said unto them, What manner of
- 23:45communications are these, that you have one to another as you
- 23:50walk and are sad? This is Jesus talking to them,
- 23:54and they didn't recognize it. You know, how many times have we
- 23:59entertained angels and we didn't recognize it?
- 24:03Do not forget to show hospitality to entertain
- 24:08strangers and by doing so, some have entertained angels,
- 24:14Friends, and we would do well to know that all of the most
- 24:23wonderful spiritual blessings are available to us today and
- 24:29this day and this hour at this time.
- 24:32Friends, this is not some his story book of old, some fable of
- 24:40old. This is relevant for today that
- 24:46there is a spiritual world all around.
- 24:49There's the angelic hosts all around, friends, and there are
- 24:53fallen angels that we must be on guard for because he shows us
- 25:02and he models for us how we are to live our lives.
- 25:06And Jesus here has revealed himself to these disciples, and
- 25:11they did not recognize him. Perhaps their sadness kept them
- 25:16from seeing him. Perhaps their senses kept them
- 25:23from seeing him. Perhaps they were so steeped in
- 25:27the physical that they could not reach and touch into the
- 25:31spiritual. And we need to make sure,
- 25:33friends, that we are in tune with all of God's creation, the
- 25:40seen and the unseen friends. 18 And one of them, whose name was
- 25:48Cleopas answering, said unto him, Are you only a stranger in
- 25:54Jerusalem, and has not known the things which are come to pass
- 25:59there in these days? How many times do we tell Jesus
- 26:03he doesn't understand our situation?
- 26:05How many times do we go to Jesus and we say, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 26:10but that was long ago and this is now.
- 26:13And that's what old Cleopas here is saying to him.
- 26:17Are you the only one who doesn't understand?
- 26:20And we would do well to make sure that we know who we're
- 26:24talking to. He is the creator of everything,
- 26:28seen and unseen. 19 And he said unto them, What things?
- 26:35And they said unto him concerning Jesus of Nazareth,
- 26:38who was a prophet, mighty indeed, and word before God and
- 26:43all the people. And he was not just a prophet,
- 26:46he was the Son of God. 20 And how the chief priests and our
- 26:53rulers delivered him to be condemned to death and have
- 26:57crucified him. 21 But we trusted that it had been he which should
- 27:03have redeemed Israel. And besides all this, today is
- 27:07the third day since these things were done. 22 Yeah.
- 27:11And certain women also of our company made us astonished,
- 27:16which were early at the tomb. 23 And when they found not his
- 27:21body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels
- 27:26which said he was alive. So we can see here that they're
- 27:30taking Jesus through all the current events as if he's just
- 27:36some stranger who doesn't understand anything.
- 27:40And we treat Jesus the same way. We just love our salvation and
- 27:45we love that we can escape hell, but we don't realize that He is
- 27:51the divine orchestrator of every fabric, of every thread, of all
- 27:57the tapestry of life all around us, everything that teams in the
- 28:03ocean and in the air above us, in the molecules all around us.
- 28:08Friends, He is the Lord over all of creation, and all of creation
- 28:13proclaims His, his name. So that man is without excuse.
- 28:17And the rocks will cry out if we do not give him his due glory.
- 28:22And he can raise up sons to Abraham from the stones,
- 28:26friends. And we would do well to lay
- 28:28prostate and to give him his due.
- 28:31Glory, friends, give him His glory, glory, glory in the
- 28:37highest holy, holy, holy, and only one found worthy, worthy,
- 28:44worthy, the Lamb of God, who was slain before the foundations of
- 28:48the earth, and who was resurrected, and who beckons us
- 28:54to life and eternal life with Him forevermore.
- 28:58Friends 24 And certain of them which were with us went to the
- 29:07tomb and found it Even so, as the women had said.
- 29:11But him they saw not so much. Like Thomas, they refused to
- 29:15believe unless they saw it with their own eyes.
- 29:18And a lot of us are like that, Friends.
- 29:22We're not going to truly believe until it's too late.
- 29:27And every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that
- 29:30Jesus is Lord, but it'll be too late.
- 29:33We must do it now. We must do it on this side of
- 29:37eternity. We cannot wait until He is
- 29:40revealed in all His glory, friends, we must do it.
- 29:44We must come to Him by faith. We must believe that He is.
- 29:49We must believe that God is real.
- 29:51We must believe that Jesus is the only way.
- 29:55We must believe it. Friends on this side, if you
- 29:58wait until the next to confess Jesus as Lord, it'll be too
- 30:03late. 25 Then he said unto them, Oh fools, slow of heart, to
- 30:14believe all that the prophets have spoken. 26 Ought not Christ
- 30:20to have suffered these things and to enter into his glory?
- 30:25He's going to take him through the greatest Bible study that
- 30:28this world has ever known. He's going to show them through
- 30:31all of the Scriptures that He is the Christ and that all of these
- 30:35things must happen. And it pleased God to crush him
- 30:39and is marvelous in His sight. Friends, it's not just a hurdle
- 30:44to get over. This is part of the grand plan,
- 30:46friends, this wonderful orchestra that God Almighty is
- 30:55bringing about. 27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets,
- 31:00he expounded unto them in all the scriptures, that things
- 31:05concerning himself. Jesus is in every single book of
- 31:09the entire Bible. He's the 4th man in the fire.
- 31:13He's the voice from the burning Bush.
- 31:16He's the one that they walked with in the cool of the day.
- 31:19It is Jesus and it is Jesus and it is Jesus all throughout
- 31:24Scripture, friends, from beginning to end.
- 31:26He is the chief cornerstone and everything is built upon Him,
- 31:31friends, and we would do well to understand our inheritance in
- 31:35Him and that we are the bride and He is the bridegroom and He
- 31:41desires a wife. He desires a bride, He desires A
- 31:48spotless bride, and he is making us that way, friends, and we can
- 31:55see that one day we will be with Him forevermore.
- 32:00Praise God. Hallelujah.
- 32:01I hope that you're looking forward to that day. 28 And they
- 32:07drew near unto the village where they went, and he made as though
- 32:11he would have gone further. And look at that.
- 32:14Look at the way Christ operates. Look at how He is such a
- 32:19gentleman that He'll never force himself upon anybody.
- 32:25He doesn't just go around and take hostages.
- 32:32No friends He has you choose Him and it brings him so much more
- 32:38glory. He can make everybody right now,
- 32:42in this very split second, see Him in all of His glory, and no
- 32:49one would refuse Him. But because He loves us so much,
- 32:54He wants us to choose Him, not just to overtake us and make us
- 33:01His own. That's how much He loves us and
- 33:05how much glory and how much He'll never force himself on us.
- 33:20Friends, you can see the love of God.
- 33:24You can see that this is the way that He operates.
- 33:29It was as if He was just going to keep going, but they're going
- 33:34to force Him to come upon them. 29 But they constrained him
- 33:44saying goodbye with us, for it is toward evening, and the day
- 33:49is far spent, And he went in to tarry with them.
- 33:52So they're grabbing a hold of them, and you must grab a hold
- 33:55of him while there is still yet time, friends. 30 And it came to
- 33:59pass, as he sat at meet with them, he took bread and blessed
- 34:03it, and broke it, and gave it to them. 31 And their eyes were
- 34:07open, and they knew him, and he vanished out of their sight.
- 34:14You can see here Jesus breaking the bread.
- 34:19All of a sudden they understood that it was Him.
- 34:24Perhaps it was his mannerisms, perhaps it was the holes in his
- 34:28hand, perhaps it was just time for them to see it all.
- 34:34But immediately he was gone. And you can see that Jesus here
- 34:39has much work to do, and he had accomplished what he wanted to
- 34:46in this moment for these disciples.
- 34:48And what's going to happen here? 32 And they said one to another.
- 34:53Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked with us, by
- 34:57the way, and while he opened to us the Scriptures?
- 35:00Does your heart burn for the Lord Jesus Christ as he's
- 35:04teaching you through his Word, as you're in prayer, friends, as
- 35:08you're in worship? Does your heart burn for him,
- 35:12friends? Does it propel you and compel
- 35:15you to take the whole word to the whole world?
- 35:18Does it compel you and propel you to tell people of your
- 35:21testimony and what the Lord has done for you?
- 35:24I pray that it does. I pray that you're not just
- 35:28silent. I pray that you're not put to
- 35:31shame. I pray that you are bold in your
- 35:34faith, friends. And they rose up, 33 And they
- 35:38rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found
- 35:43the 11 gathered together, and them that were with them, 34
- 35:47saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to
- 35:52Simon. 35 And they told what things were done in the way, and
- 35:58how he was known of them in breaking of bread.
- 36:02So we can see here that this very simple break of bread
- 36:08brought about the revelation of the Lord Jesus, and they could
- 36:11see Him in all His glory. And we would do well, friends,
- 36:15to make sure that we bring all of these scriptures into our
- 36:19minds, and break bread, and to have communion every day, and to
- 36:24remember what the Lord has said to us, and go out and tell
- 36:29others. 36 men. As they thus spoke, Jesus
- 36:34himself stood in the midst of them and said unto them, Peace
- 36:40be unto you. He is our peace.
- 36:43We can only know peace through a relationship to God, through His
- 36:49Son Jesus Christ. We can see that we need this
- 36:53peace that He offers to us and He is the only peace that you
- 36:57will ever experience in this life friends and for all of
- 37:02eternity. There is no peace outside of
- 37:05God, friends. Money can't bring you peace.
- 37:08Relationships can't bring you peace.
- 37:10Health can't bring you peace, friends.
- 37:13It is only with a relationship with God Almighty through his
- 37:18Son Jesus Christ that brings this peace that he offers. 37
- 37:23But they were terrified and affrighted, and suppose that
- 37:27they had seen a spirit, so he had walked through the walls.
- 37:31There's materialism. Didn't matter to him.
- 37:35He was able to go right through it.
- 37:38Friends, what a snapshot of what's available to us when we
- 37:42come to him. 38 And he said unto them, Why are you troubled?
- 37:48And why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
- 37:52And he's asking us the same thing.
- 37:54Why are you troubled? Do you not know the inheritance
- 37:57that is available to you? 39 Behold my hands and my feet,
- 38:01that it is I myself handle me and see.
- 38:05For a spirit has not flesh and bones, as you see, I have. 40
- 38:09And when he had thus spoken, he showed them his hands and his
- 38:13feet. 41 And while they yet believe not for joy, he
- 38:16wondered, he said unto them, Have you here any meat?
- 38:2042 And they gave him a piece of broiled fish and a honeycomb. 43
- 38:25And he took it, and he did eat before them.
- 38:28So we know that in heaven there is this tree of life, and there
- 38:33is this river of life, and we know that there are fruits, and
- 38:36we know that he's preparing A banquet for us.
- 38:38And we can see that his resurrected body is just a
- 38:44snapshot for us to know what is available to us.
- 38:46And we don't work for all of the blessings and all the
- 38:49materialism, but we just want Jesus.
- 38:53We want to touch him. We want to feel him.
- 38:55We want to sit with him and dine with him.
- 38:58We want him more than we want life itself.
- 39:01Friends, it's Jesus and Jesus and Jesus that we are after. 44
- 39:07And he said unto them, These are the words which I spoken to you
- 39:11while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled,
- 39:15which were written in the law of Moses and in the prophets and in
- 39:18the Psalms concerning me. We can see that Jesus takes him
- 39:22through a Bible study and he shows them how all of these
- 39:26things are wonderful and marvelous to the Lord God.
- 39:29And He knew all about them before they ever happened.
- 39:32And He knows your very life. He knows.
- 39:34Every hair on your head. He knows every day and every
- 39:38moment and every breath that you are going to be on this earth,
- 39:41and He is awaiting to give you this resurrected body, and He
- 39:45wants to be with you forever more, and we must choose Him
- 39:49now. Friends 45 then opened he their
- 39:53understanding that they might understand the Scriptures.
- 39:57Praise God. Hallelujah. 46 And he said unto
- 40:00them. Thus it is written, and thus it
- 40:05behooved Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third
- 40:10day. 47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be
- 40:16preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
- 40:25So we know that it was in Jerusalem that they were hostile
- 40:28towards Jesus Christ. And here He's telling his
- 40:31disciples to start there. And they were, prior to His
- 40:36showing up, they were shaking in their boots that their master
- 40:40had been murdered. And what fate awaited them, His
- 40:45followers? And now He's giving them their
- 40:48marching orders, He's giving them what he expects out of
- 40:51them, and they are to start there in Jerusalem and to preach
- 40:56repentance and the remission of sins through the blood of Jesus
- 41:00Christ. Friends, we know that Jesus
- 41:02lived a perfect and spotless life, a blameless life.
- 41:07And we know that he was crushed, and we know that he was bruised,
- 41:14and we know that he was buried. And we know that he hung on a
- 41:19cross and put in the tomb, and that he was resurrected on the
- 41:24third day, and that he ascended to the right hand of the Father.
- 41:28And there he sits, friends, and and he makes intercession for
- 41:33you and for me. And we can be blessed by the
- 41:36finished work of the cross, friends, And we can be endued
- 41:40with power from on high. And we can receive the Holy
- 41:43Spirit in the mind of Christ. And we can walk in our bridal
- 41:47identity because of what Christ has done for us, friends.
- 41:51And it's all put down here and it's trustworthy and true.
- 41:55And Doctor Luke did such a fantastic job of going and
- 41:59searching all of the details and all the eyewitness accounts.
- 42:03And we know that this is historically correct and we know
- 42:08that it is something that we can build our life upon, this solid
- 42:13rock, this chief cornerstone that we will never be put to
- 42:17shame and we will never be dismayed when we are following
- 42:21after the Lord Jesus Christ. And the world might ridicule us
- 42:25and say all kinds of nay, saying things towards us, but counted
- 42:30all his joy, Friends, they did it to all the prophets.
- 42:33And it is because they've made a love decision for the world and
- 42:37they're hostile towards God. It's not because it's not
- 42:40trustworthy and true and that there's not enough Fact Check
- 42:44details to prove it all. It's that they refuse to love
- 42:49the truth and they delight themselves and evil.
- 42:52And we pray for them. We pray against the darkness and
- 42:56the and the demonic influence that are it's in their lives
- 43:01that's hiding it all from them because it's plain as the nose
- 43:05on your face and we can see it all.
- 43:07When you come to the Lord in faith, you can see it all,
- 43:10friends. And he takes off the blinders
- 43:12and praise God. We were once blind, but now we
- 43:15can see praise God. We were once deaf, but now we
- 43:18can hear. Praise God.
- 43:20He's given us a new heart, friends, and he has written his
- 43:24name upon our hearts, and we are his, and he is ours, and we will
- 43:29be with him forever more. 48 And you are witnesses of these
- 43:35things. He's saying that you are the
- 43:37martyrs of these things. He's giving us our marching
- 43:41orders. He's telling us that the blood
- 43:42of the martyr is the seed of the gospel.
- 43:45And we know that we can lay down our lives, and that love knows
- 43:48no greater than to lay down your life for your brother.
- 43:52And we know that, friends, and we know the cost.
- 43:55We count the cost before we ever put our hand to the plow. 49 And
- 44:00behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you, but tarry you
- 44:06in the city of Jerusalem until you be endued with power from on
- 44:11high. Holy Spirit's coming, and he's
- 44:13going to give them the Advocate and the helper friends. 50 And
- 44:17he led them out as far as Bethany, and he lifted up his
- 44:21hands, and he blessed them, Jesus lifting up his hands,
- 44:28showering us with blessings upon blessings upon blessings,
- 44:32eternal life, friends, He is showering us with the abundant
- 44:39life friends now. 51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them,
- 44:45he was parted from them and carried up into heaven. 52 And
- 44:50they worshipped him and return to Jerusalem with great joy.
- 44:57And we'll end on 53 And we're continually in the temple
- 45:03praising and blessing God. Amen.
- 45:08So we can see here that Jesus gave them the power and it
- 45:12propelled them and compelled them into service and into
- 45:16action. And our obedience unto Christ is
- 45:19because of the love that we have for him.
- 45:25There's nothing in this world that could ever measure up or
- 45:31compare to the love of Christ and our eternal inheritance.
- 45:38There's no relationship, there's no amount of money, there's no
- 45:44position, there's no experience on planet earth that could ever
- 45:53supersede the love of Christ for us.
- 46:00He is our All in all. He is our everything.
- 46:04I hope you've been blessed by this last chapter here in Doctor
- 46:09Luke's account. I know I sure have.
- 46:14I'm praying for you. I love you.
- 46:23God loves you. Let's step into all that he has
- 46:28for us today. We'll see you back here
- 46:34tomorrow. God bless you.
